Mutual Understanding
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x reader (platonic)
warnings: sonic 3 spoilers, mentions of death, trauma bonding lol!!!
summary: as the assistant in training for Stone, you’re tasked with keeping an eye on the black and red haired hedgehog
a/n: just watched sonic 3, I love it so much I immediately wrote this as soon as I got home, please enjoy and go watch it as soon as possible (I LOVE YOU SHADOW AUAGHH)
Tumblr media
You watched as Stone left the Crab, running a quick errand so he could finish the suits he was making for Robotnik and his grandfather Gerald. You had a strange feeling about him and you could tell Stone did too but as assistants all you could do was brush it aside.
As Stone left you looked towards your right, Shadow stood near you his eyes staring at where your mentor was standing only moments ago, before his head tilted to glance at you. His eyes scanned you, as you scanned him back, you knew what he was capable of, you were warned but you couldn’t help but keep looking.
Shadow held his gaze on you before he turned away, looking at the television still playing in the background, the telenovela now capturing his attention.
You watched him as he stared ahead. Deciding you had nothing else to do, you sat down on the floor, not daring to get near Dr Robotniks chair, knowing he’d notice if it was moved even a centimeter. A sigh escaped your lips as whatever was going on in the strange show kept going on, you tried to get into it but it felt too generic for you.
“Why are you here,” Was the first thing you’d heard him say. You perked up at his sudden question, this was the first time since you’d met him that shadow had talked to you.
“What?” You asked him, curious as to what he meant.
He looked back at you, no longer paying attention to the show, “I asked why are you here”
You slightly raised a brow still somewhat confused, “Well I’m uh- an apprentice here so it’s like kinda my job?” You shrugged at the hedgehog, slightly raising your arms.
Shadow didn’t seem satisfied with your answer. The room settled into an uncomfortable silence as Shadow continued to just stare at you.
Nervously you glanced around the room, not out of fear but just confusion as to what he even meant.
“Are you alone?”
“What.” You asked, deadpanning at the straightforward question, “Obviously not-“
“No” Shadow cut you off, “Why are you with them?”
You knew who he was referring to, Stone and Robotnik. Obviously they weren’t your parents, it was easy to see from the way they treated you. Stone was kind but he wasn’t very parental, he was more of a teacher. Robotnik was definitely not parental, he was more like a demanding boss who didn’t give his workers equal pay.
“They’re all I have,” you bluntly responded to the hedgehog, as you slowly brought your legs closer to you.
Noticing the uncomfortable feeling you were getting Shadows gaze somewhat fell, maybe it was empathy or something else that you couldn’t quite understand.
Nervously you fiddled with the necklace around your neck, a two little star emblems given to you by your late mother.
Shadows eyes widened, he stepped closer to you trying to get a glimpse at the necklace. You looked up at him, an arm around your legs, the other gripping the necklace tight.
“You like?” You asked him, noticing how his legs uncontrollably moved him closer to you. His gaze was still fixed on it, as if he was remembering, “My mom gave this to me before she passed, she loved the stars, I do too honestly.”
He slowly sat down in front of you, both of you now looking at each other. Slightly noticing his distress you hesitantly took off the necklace, passing it to him so he could get a closer look. You knew he wouldn’t take it, of course you’d just met him but it felt as if you two had known each other before.
The necklace was silver, it was nicely kept; obviously cleaned regularly although it was a bit too small for you by now but that didn’t seem to stop you from wearing it. On it were two stars, one big star and another smaller star, it looked as if they were shining, but one was brighter than the other.
“A light still shines even though the star is gone,” You mumbled looking at the necklace in Shadows hands. His gaze quickly snapped up, his usual angry demeanor faltering to show a small look of shock.
“What?..” Shadow asked, as he looked between you and the necklace.
You laid on your back, your knees up letting out a sigh, “It’s just, you know something I like to say when I think about her,”
Shadow got up from his sitting position, he walked over to your side, handing you the necklace back as he laid down next to you. There were no stars inside the Crab, just a bunch of machine and technology that you truly didn’t understand half of.
There was a comfortable silence now, as you two laid down next to each other; Shadow sighed, for the first time it sounded like he was free, like the demons from his past were no longer attacking his every thought.
He turned his head to look at you, “You remind me of her,”
Snapping out of your trance you looked back at him, eyebrows slightly raised, “Who?” You asked, your tone soft as to not startle him.
His gaze was, soft, no longer angry at the world, maybe at himself, you really couldn’t tell, “Someone I used to know a long time ago,”
You let out a hum of acknowledgment, “She sounds nice,” you said, looking back towards the roof of the contraption.
Shadow still looked at you, you were no Maria, but you made him rethink; that maybe, maybe the world isn’t as bad as he thought it was, maybe there were people worth saving.
“She was.”

So anyways also think the “red hooded ninja” was vastly under utilized in yj so-
The one where Dick brings Jason and Damian home
I also have no idea how old Jason was supposed to be in yj so for the sake of this AU lets make him like 2 years younger than Dick (so they’re 19 and 17 - Jason died when he was 15ish?). And also Damian is going to be 5 instead of a baby.
After the invasion, Nightwing basically goes missing. No one has heard from him in or out of the mask in months, Batman admits to having a falling out with him shortly after the invasion, and several other members of the team (including Tim) admit to giving him a hard time and essentially telling him to get lost and they wanted nothing to do with him.
And now eight months later, everyone is shitting bricks realizing they fucked up and have no clue what happened to their friend.
Pretty much everyone is involved in some way in trying to find out where he is or what happened to him. It takes a couple weeks, but eventually they find videos of him meeting Ra’s al Ghul. And he looks so bad in the videos, he looks so depressed and run down and like a strong wind could blow him over. And Ra’s is smiling at him, putting a hand on his shoulder, talking softly with him and looking every part the encouraging grandfather.
And imagine if it was Dick who was Kaldur’s backup instead of Artemis. Dick who went undercover as Renegade, Deathstroke’s Apprentice, while also still running the team and going out as Batman in Gotham so no one knew Batman wasn’t around. Because Artemis hadn’t wanted to go back, had put her foot down and said no, and Dick ran out of options.
And they realize, going over footage and pictures from around the time the invasion started coming to an end, that Dick looked so ragged. He was so tired, so exhausted, so defeated looking. And then they remember how Deathstroke treated him, how much he demanded of him, how he often trained with the Shadows before coming back and being Nightwing with zero downtime. It’s a wonder he didn’t have a nervous breakdown.
Except maybe he did, because now they’re watching videos that look suspiciously like Ra’s al Ghul picking up the pieces. He always was an opportunist, and to be able to snag Batman’s number one protege? How could he pass it up?
And while the team and the justice league are running around like chickens with their heads cut off, trying to figure out how to get Nightwing back, how they’re going to de-program him from whatever brainwashing Ra’s al Ghul must’ve done to get him to join the shadows, Nightwing is already executing his own plan.
Because while he was working with Deathstroke, he came across a very peculiar recruit on Infinity Island. One who called him Dickhead, one who moved so familiarly, one who reminded him an awful lot of the brother he sometimes hallucinates standing behind him to yell at him about how everything is his fault.
And then he came across another very intriguing child. One who looks like Bruce, but speaks like Talia. One who actually smiled when he realized Dick would be the one to help him with his training for the day.
And Dick couldn’t just leave them there. He’d planned on coming back with the League, but then everyone turned on him, and he had to change tactics.
And if Ra’s had maybe gotten in his head a bit, if the plan got postponed a couple times because Dick found he actually kind of thrived under his tutelage and guidance and comforting words, if Talia maybe was actually kind of nice to him and called him Damian’s brother from the beginning and it made Dick’s chest tighten, well then no one had to know.
It took him eight months, but eventually he’s close enough to Damian and Jason’s memories are mostly all back, and they go with him without Dick having to even convince them. They want away from the Shadows. They want to go with Dick.
So when Dick uses an override code he’s shocked still works to get them up on the Watchtower about a week after escaping the island, everyone stands frozen and stares at them. They’re wearing clothes from the Shadows, but Dick is holding Damian tight against him, and Jason’s face is clear for everyone to see. No one speaks. No one moves.
Until Dick locks eyes with Batman and lets out a nervous laugh.
“Surprise,” he says slowly, “it’s a boy.”
It’s still silent. Until Damian looks Batman up and down, then turns back to Dick and wraps his arms around his neck and says with a frown, “I thought you said Father would be taller.”
And Dick gapes for a moment before he shares a look with Jason, and the two are cracking up, leaning against each other, Damian confused at their reaction but smiling with them.

Hello!!! I'm sending Wynne your way this week along with anyone else who jumps out at you, + the lyric "If you never touched me I would've gone along with the righteous. If I never blushed then they could've never whispered about this." from Would've, Could've, Should've by Taylor Swift <3
Oh god this is such a delicious prompt! Inspired by this brilliant post by @sha-brytols (sorry for poaching your thoughts!), please enjoy some Deeply Toxic Wynne Backstory...
Wynne/Ser Greagoir, pre-Origins, mage/templar relationships, implied sexual abuse, implied domestic abuse, power imbalance, pregnancy
@miladydewintcr | @dadrunkwriting
if you’d never touched me, i could’ve gone along with the righteous
The truth she can never tell anyone is this: it was intoxicating at first, to be wanted by someone like Greagoir. Mages aren’t supposed to want Templars — mages aren’t supposed to want anyone, or anything. Desire is just one more crack through which a demon can squirm in and make itself at home.
But Greagoir is tall and handsome and will be the Knight Commander of Kinloch Hold one day, and she’s a girl who was abandoned by some apostate mother who never wanted a child, and then surrendered by her foster family as soon as they realised the Circle would take her. They’d raised her kindly enough, but she’d been another mouth to feed, another child underfoot, and she doubts they missed one they’d never actually planned for. But Greagoir — Greagoir who’s strong and skilled and smart, with shoulders that really fill out his ridiculous armour — Greagoir wants her, of all people.
It’s flattering. It’s powerful, in a strange way. Even before she makes Senior Enchanter (the youngest Kinloch Hold has seen, in living memory), they treat her with a little more respect, a little more deference, and perhaps it is sinful to enjoy it, but she does. There is little enough power to be had in the Circle, despite how freely magic and lyrium flow, and they all wield it with careful precision.
And for a little while — the little while following Aneirin’s disappearance — it’s good. He comforts her when she mourns her lost apprentice, assures her that they’re doing all they can to bring him home, that none of this is her fault. That he was wilful, defiant. That if he’d been less headstrong, more reasoned, more like Wynne, he’d have stayed, but as he was, he’d never have passed his Harrowing. She does not want to think, in those unhappy hours, about the sun-shaped brand Greagoir would have pressed to that poor, lonely boy’s forehead, or the blade he’d have swung through his throat. She wants only to take comfort in being wanted, and in his faith in her goodness, her virtue.
When she sees bruises from training on his back, his ribs, and lets her magic flow through her to heal them, he takes her ands and kisses them, and murmurs: “Magic was meant to serve man,” and she feels almost dizzy with a strange, intoxicating joy that she’s good, that she’s trusted. Now, sometimes, if there’s sickness in the nearby villages, they will send her out unescorted by anyone but Greagoir, and for a little while, they can pretend that they are any other courting couple, that one day he might bring out his mother’s ring or she might borrow her mother’s old wedding dress and they’d find a Chantry sister willing to perform a quick ceremony on a whim, drunk on young love and stolen liberties. She can pretend that he escorts her everywhere for stolen kisses and ignore the ugly twist to his thin mouth when she talks to other men, or other mages, about things he does not understand.
“I only want to know everything about you,” he says, when she questions it. “You keep so many mysteries in your head that sometimes I want to open it up and look inside.”
“That would make an awful mess in your nice new rooms,” she retorts, and he laughs, and she pretends he did not just say that, and does not look at the sword that is always within arms’-reach, even in their bedchamber.
And then her bleeding doesn’t come, and she has a choice to make. Mages have children all the time, for all that they are forbidden to. The children of mages do not have fathers. The children of mages certainly do not have fathers among the Templars of Kinloch Hold, at least according to the Circle’s records, which, of course, the Templars keep meticulously.
So. Wynne might have a child, for all that she’s been careful, and clever, and good, skirting the rules without ever breaking them, keeping Greagoir happy, keeping the Circle happy, and this- this will not make anyone happy. No child should come into the world, bearing so cruel a weight. Perhaps that is why the Chantry take their children: it would be unbearable, to be a parent’s only source of hope, or cause of despair.
She could tell Greagoir. It’s been done before. Of course, when Melisende told her Templar about a child that might have been, she fell down six flights of stairs, and spent a week in the infirmary recovering. And as for Lyria… They did not want to Harrow a pregnant apprentice, and they did, at least, let her have the baby before they made her Tranquil. Sometimes she sees the young Templar who she’d caught slipping out of her rooms watching her in the workshops, and then she is very careful to ensure that he is placed on watches as far from the Tranquil as possible. She can do this, because Greagoir listens to her. She can do a lot of things, because he listens to her. Or, more accurately, because he wants to bed her, and doesn’t mind if she does his paperwork on the side.
So. She could tell Greagoir, and risk, at worst, an unexpected fall or a sun-shaped brand, or, at best… what would she even ask for, at best? Would they run away together, lovers forbidden by the Chantry’s laws but too devoted to care? Would she become a herbalist, or a farm-worker? Would he become a mercenary? It was easy, once, to imagine a courtship they might have had, if they were anyone but mage and Templar, but a life…
She can imagine it too easily. Greagoir’s eyes on her back when she so much as smiles at a stallholder. Greagoir’s hands on her waist, on her hips, every night, with no charade of secrecy to put him off. The sword he’d hang over her head when they argued: See what I gave up for you? For your baby? No. The Circle may be the only prison she’s ever known, but she will not swap it for one where Greagoir would be her only gaoler. He will make her many promises, but the freedom to leave him will never be among them.
So she takes matters into her own hands, becomes a little indiscreet. Leans a little too close in busy corridors, leaves notes where Greagoir’s mentor is likely to find them, and coos and kisses him when he tells her he is to be sent to another Circle. Just for a little while, until the scandal dies down, and then he will come back, and they will go on as they did before. He says the last words with the cadence of an order, with a bonecrushing grip on her fingers, and she forces a smile, and swallows them with a kiss.
He does not forgive her, when he returns to find her delivered of a child he will never find, will never even see. She hopes that Rhys inherits his broad shoulders and handsome looks and lack of magic and nothing of his jealousy, his temper, his ability to show cruelty or disgust behind a smiling mask. He turns that disgust upon her now, and it is almost a relief. They do not go on as they did before. Her bed is her own, her skin is her own, her magic is her own. He does not crack open her head, to see what is inside it, which is likely best for both of them. She does not think he would recognise himself, if he realised how he appeared through her eyes.

paring: earth42!miles x fem!reader
warnings: nothing, fluff, lowkey short sorry😭
a/n: i saw a movement test clip of him earlier on tiktok and i was SCREAMING and it just fueled me to make this
summary: you stop by during miles’ training sesh.
Tumblr media
you walk up the stairs, hearing music blasting from aaron’s apartment. you knock on his door, waiting for someone to answer. you stand there for a few minutes, awkwardly looking down at your phone. you knock again — but louder. you hear someone approaching, so you back up. aaron opens the door, his brows raising once he sees you. “oh, hey.” aaron says. you greet him back. “uh, is miles here?” you ask, he turns around, nodding. he opens the door wider for you to enter. once you step inside, you see miles swinging at the punching bag in front of him. you hear the door close behind you, aaron walks over to miles. he stops the bag with his hand, “your girlfriend’s here.” he says, nodding his head over to you. miles raises a brow, looking over aaron’s shoulder. once he spots you, he smiles widely.
miles takes off his boxing gloves, walking over to you. “how you doin’ ma?” he kisses you, pulling you into a hug. he looks down at your hand. “what’s that?” he asks. you smile, “takeout,” he grins, kissing you on the cheek. “you always treat me, don’t you, princesa?” you hear a cough, looking over behind miles. aaron turns down the music, standing there awkwardly. “you two have fun, i gotta go run some errands.” he says. whenever he says he has to got run some errands, what he really means is he has to go buy more items for explosives. miles laughs, saying bye to him. once aaron leaves, miles pulls you over to the couch. you open the plastic bag, grabbing a few boxes out. the food neatly arranged on the coffee table. as you tear open the containers, you can’t help but admire him.
you watch miles devour his dumplings. you stare at the veins running down his arms as he lifts each bite to his lips. he looks over at you, a smug look on his face. “what?” he asked through a mouthful of food. “you’ve gotten so big, i guess aaron’s really working you hard with all that prowler stuff.” you say. he grins, “what you don’t like it?” he asks while purposely flexing his arms. you laugh, shaking your head. he reaches over to the table, grabbing the remote and turning on the tv. “so, how’s your prowler business going?” you ask. miles’ eyes light up as soon as you ask, “fucking amazing,” he says. “you know, the other day, me and aaron completely messed up these guys. it was crazy, i mean i—” you quickly raise a finger, shushing him. you point at the screen.
the news flashes on, bright letters on the bottom of the screen reads “the prowler strikes again — with a new apprentice.” when miles realizes what he’s reading, he immediately stops eating. you gasp, snatching the remote out of his hand, turning up the volume. you listen to the reporter as she stands by a large building, a visible chuck of it missing. “holy shit,” you mutter, you laugh as you realize half of the building has been blown up. “you blew it up?” you ask. his eyes are glued to the screen, “yeah, i did.” he replies back. the two of you laugh as it switches over to another angle of the building being even more wrecked. “i hate that they’re calling me an apprentice though,” he says while continuing to eat his food. you lean back, tilting your head to the side. “is that not what you are?” he looks at you, shrugging. “i mean, yeah — but you know.” you roll your eyes sarcastically, giggling. “i’m so proud of you, my baby finally made it onto tv.” you say as you pinch his cheeks teasingly. miles grabs your wrist, laughing. “aight, chill.”
he finishes his dumplings, placing the box back on the table. he gets up, grabbing a cold water bottle from the fridge before sitting back down next to you. he opens the bottle, gulping down his water. “i’m glad you’re having fun with all this, haven’t seen you genuinely happy in a while.” you say, he looks up at you, his gaze softening. “yeah,” he murmurs. “all of this prowler stuff really helps me ease my stress,” you smile at him, playing with one of his braids. “and your mom, she doing okay?” miles nods, “yeah, she still doesn’t know about it yet though.”
miles sighs loudly, laying his head down into your lap. he looks up at you, pulling you into a kiss. “and i hope she doesn’t find out any time soon.” he mutters. he turns in your lap, watching the news. you hear him hysterically laugh under you every time the reporter mentions the damage he’s done to the building.

a/n: ok. i didn't realize how much i wanted to put into this chapter so spicy stuff is coming NEXT chapter. promith. i've already written some of it. anyway, i'm glad y'all are enjoying my O'Hara content. I hope this lives up to your expectations lmfao
Summary: Miguel O'Hara is a grumpy man and you make him grumpy. You regularly go against his orders, create chaos, and invite danger. This is what you've been doing since he swept you away.
w/c: 2.2k
series masterlist | main masterlist
----
So being “Spider-Woman” turned out to be harder than you thought. It’s not all swinging from and shooting webs like you imagined. Apparently, there’s a spider-specific physical regimen you’re required to keep up with. Every day.
You’re almost convinced that you’re being hazed into the spider-verse community because you are yet to see anyone else doing upside-down web squats on a 100-story building. Not to mention the life-threatening training simulations you were thrown into as soon as you arrived in Nueva York.
“They can’t hurt you, Kid. They’re holograms.”
“Yeah, that’s what they want you to think O’Hara, but my ass has been kicked enough to prove differently.”
“Alright, well they can’t kill you.”
Miguel has been “training” you for the last few months to become the best Spider-Woman you can be, pushing you harder than you’ve ever been pushed before. Though these days, this “training” is actually just him telling Parker to drill you in whatever he thinks will work.
O’Hara attempted to do it himself for like three days, and it turns out he’s too impatient to take in a spider apprentice or even be in a room where you do anything but exactly what he commands.
You should’ve expected it.
Sure, Miguel is a naturally grumpy man, but you swear he has it out for you. He literally tenses whenever you enter the room and makes sure to barely meet your eyes when he’s forced to talk to you.
Actually, ever since you were dropped in the middle of Spider-Central, O’Hara has been ignoring you. Treating you like the plague. Always making the excuse that he’s too busy with things that are far more important than anything you’d ever have to say. As if he wasn’t the one who forced you to come with him in the first place…
It’s not fair. He was literally all you had.
Months ago, he showed you a side of him, the one that convinced you that he actually brought you here for a reason, but now he can’t even look at you. Sure, you’re a particularly slow learner, and one that never really liked PE, but you deserve some slack. You left everything for him – for them.
Meeting people who’ve gone through similar circumstances as you was quite interesting, to say the least. And it doesn’t stop at people either. Spider cars, dinosaurs, and cats were just the beginning.
You’ve made a few friends. There’s Gwen, a 15 (or was it 16?) -year-old who mostly talks about her friend Miles, music, and…uh, Miles. It’s sweet how she gushes on about some guy without fully realizing how into him she is. Miles sounds great, really great, but you’ll probably never get to meet him because of the number of restrictions placed on your watch. Fucking O’Hara and his parental controls.
Gwen is cool, she plays the drums and can do a bunch of acrobatic things that you’d never even attempt, but she’s also almost a half-decade younger than you. There’s only so much you can talk about before you start getting homesick. Of course, despite her young age, she’s still given more responsibilities and missions than you. If Miguel has one hobby, it would be undermining everything you do.
“She’s been in the game longer than you have.” He always makes that excuse.
And you always counter it with: “But I’m older! I can do more than just scream for help!”
“This isn’t a discussion.” That honestly might be his favorite phrase to shut you up these days. “You’ll be called on when you’re ready, Kid.” And that.
“I am ready. And stop calling me that. I’m not a kid, I’m 20 years old!”
“Yeah, whatever.”
There’s also Peter Parker, your reluctant coach. He’s…something else. Sure, he’s your friend, but he’s more like a substitute teacher and crazy uncle type of guy. Usually, he listens to everything Miguel says, acting like a glorified babysitter, but sometimes, he’s up to bend the rules on some things.
Once he let you visit his dimension, claiming you’d need some real-life experience as a “friendly-neighborhood spider-woman”. You spent that day chasing down petty robbers and helping old ladies cross the road. Sure, it was a small field trip, but that was only the third dimension you’d traveled to at the time.
Parker is also always trying to get you to hold his daughter whenever she comes to work claiming that “it’ll be good for your mental health, trust me.” Of course, for Parker, every day is “bring-your-kid-to-train-the-new-spider-woman-day”. And really, you don’t mind holding her, but not when you’re in the middle of sparing 5 of Doc Ocks tentacles.
The baby is adorable, but you do worry about how she crawls up the walls. Parker doesn’t seem fazed. Actually, neither does O’Hara.
Sometimes you wonder if O’Hara wants kids one day. He certainly handles Mayday like a pro, letting her crawl over his shoulders and paperwork. Would he possibl– No, actually, it doesn’t matter. It shouldn’t matter, because he left you. He’s not – couldn’t even be an option. – Anyway…
Parker and Mayday are nice company and the only real constants in your life, but you really just want to be a consistent part of the team. You don’t know how much longer you can spend your days doing swinging drills and spider crunches (don’t even ask). But Parker has actually been your rock these past months, to give him credit. He’s one of the few people that makes you feel like you belonged in this distorted array of spiders and dimensions.
Then there’s Hobie.
The first time you met him you probably had literal stars in your eyes. Donned with a spiked vest and several facial piercings, he caught your attention right away. He catches everyone’s attention. Even his suit is cooler than everyone else’s with a spiked mohawk that surely gets in the way.
Unfortunately, just as you were hoping to take on the Brit as your mentor for all things spider, he was decidedly off-limits, courtesy of O’Hara. Apparently, his rebellious nature and brash energy make him a “bad influence”.
“Seriously? You should be glad that I’m taking a bigger interest in my training.” You have your hands posted up on your hips, trying to make yourself look bigger than you actually are. Damn, O’Hara and his domineering presence!
He rolls his eyes openly, genuinely already done with the conversation. “Yeah…your ‘training,’ sure.”
“What is that supposed to mean!” You practically whine it out.
“Don’t get distracted gatita, just do as you’re told.”
“Ok, what does that mean? I don’t speak Italian.”
“That was Spanish dumbass.”
Of course, that doesn’t stop you from hanging out with him anyway (though he’s not around as much anymore). Who knew making friends as Spider-Person would be so hard. You’d think you’d have a lot in common with everyone around you, but really, you’re all alone. Sometimes you think the spiders actually resent you deep down because you’re the only one that has never lost anything. Or had anything to lose in the first place.
For now, you’re just moving through a sea of spiders, trying to catch a glimpse of what you’re supposed to be doing here. Trying to figure out why you were chosen over the infinite other versions of you in the multiverse.
So far you’ve been on 2 and a half missions. The half was when you were forcibly sent home and effectively grounded for a week. Apparently, talking to civilians while standing guard is prohibited, even when they’re selling dip’n’dots. What? It was a long ass mission. And it was hot!
This one is your official third mission. It’s quite simple, in theory. Just travel to Earth-275A, infiltrate a tech lab, pick up some – worryingly volatile – equipment, and go home. Easy.
Except, it didn’t exactly go that way.
It’s just you, Miguel, Gwen, and Jess on this mission. You and Jess were placed on lookout duty (you on the roof and Jess on the ground with her bike), while Miguel and Gwen broke in and out of the building. It was all running smoothly, each spider occasionally muttering quietly through the radio whenever their positionings changed. Otherwise, it was silent. And frankly, a bit boring.
You idly kicked around some pebbles that somehow found their way onto the roof of this tall ass building, sometimes smacking them against the half wall separating you from falling a thousand feet downwards. You were actually dying to get back to HQ because you briefly spotted Hobie talking to Parker and Mayday before you had to go. He’s been quite absent lately, and you want to show off some of the new moves you learned this week.
Then, there was suddenly action.
A huge explosion surges out the right side of the building that O’Hara and Stacy were infiltrating. That mission plan was not kidding when they described the ‘volatility’ of the shit inside of those supply crates. Deep creaking and smashing objects follow the blast. You watch as the tallest building in the city starts to tilt. Shit, the explosion must’ve taken out some of the support beams.
You hear Miguel yelling your name through your earpiece, as well as heavy breathing and crumbling concrete in the background.
“Y-yes? Copy–”
“You and Gwen collect the crate and get out of here. I already called for a portal. Jess and I will get surrounding civilians away from danger.”
“Understood, sir.” You don’t usually call him anything like ‘sir’, but the stakes are high and complete compliance is needed at this moment.
“Crate is located on the top floor, Stacy is already there waiting for my word.” You briefly shake yourself out, mentally preparing yourself to scale the larger building in front of you.
With a quick fwp, you attach your web to the nearly as tall building next to your target to give yourself some leverage. You jump without even giving yourself time to think about it, tugging slightly at the web, making sure to collect as much kinetic energy as possible. You release the web when you get to the highest point and spit out another web to get you to the top floor of the building. Luckily the blast took out the windows so you could easily enter the floor.
There, Gwen stands next to a crate with several scientists and guards nicely pasted onto the walls with perfectly placed webs on each limb and over their abdomens.
“Took you long enough.”
“It’s been 30 seconds!”
“Relax, I’m teasing.” She shoots out a couple of webs and connects them to the crate. “Here, help me out with this.” You follow her movements, pulling at your webs slightly to get a good evaluation of its weight. Surprisingly, it moves quite easily, almost three inches from your soft tug.
“Why’re we both doing this when it weighs 100 lbs. We have super strength.”
“I dunno, Miguel just gave us the orders. There’s probably a reason. It doesn’t really matter.” You frown realizing you could’ve been down there helping O’Hara save actual lives but instead, you were ordered to assist a teenager on a one-person job. “The portal is opening in a few seconds on the roof of the building behind us.” Gwen doesn’t seem phased. “We can just swing it with us.”
“Isn’t this shit going to blow up if we move it too harshly?”
“Not when it’s in this protective crate.” She steps closer to the broken window, mentally measuring and planning out the escape route. “That explosion earlier was from an open container.” You hum, still torn over leaving Gwen to do the delivery so you can help people get out of the way faster. “You ready then?” She’s been watching you. Clearly, your thoughts are painted on your face.
You nod briefly, “Let’s go.” Together you take each side of the crate and use your other arms to swing yourselves over to the portal that magically appears. This time, that odd purring sound of the portal is completely blocked out by the chaos going on around you. Somehow the building has still only tilted a little bit since the explosion.
As Gwen pushes the crate into the gateway, you look down at the streets, watching as Miguel and Jess work impeccably together as they save hundreds of civilians from falling debris and the inevitable demolition of the building.
Then you look back a Gwen, who’s ready to head home. Then you look down at them again.
Then your eye catches on a red sedan sheltering a terrified family that sits under the chaos.
Gwen catches your eye. “Don’t.”
“I have to.”
“Migu–”
“Would do the same.”
“--Will mur-der me.” You sigh, but quickly shoot a couple of webs downwards without looking. Gwen has her arms folded, sharing that unamused expression that Jess loves to sport. Her feet are now temporarily stuck to the floor. You’re sure she could get out of it in a second, but you can tell, she’s not going to stop you. “Don’t die.”
Right before jumping off the ledge, you send her a cheesy smirk, “Me? Never.”

Headcanon: Being Shaak Ti’s padawan would include …
Type: Headcanons; GN! Reader Character(s): Shaak Ti, 501st, 212th, Wolfpack, Bad Batch, Omega, Clones in general Notes: I like the concept of a story as Shaak Ti’s padawan, I was thinking about writing a reader-insert about it. Would you be interested?
Despite her reputation as an admirable Jedi Master, Shaak Ti’s views on attachments would probably be anything but respected by the Council.
Shaak Ti gets motherly feelings just by looking at the Cadets or Omega, so you better be ready because once this woman sets her eyes on her new padawan, your fate will pretty much sealed as her newly adopted child.
Whatever you accomplish, whether it may be small such as motivating yourself to get out of bed or teaching a cadet a trick up to striking down a clanker or saving a clone's life, she’ll be the proudest Togruta in the entire universe.
The clones? They adore you. Shaak Ti is the most respected Jedi among Kamino, maybe even the most adored person among the clones there overall. The troopers admire her treatment and kindness, seeing a parental figure in her, a mother they never had the chance to know. Whomever she likes must be just as lovable then!
As Shaak Ti's padawan, all of Tipoca City knows your name by now. Wherever you go, you'll be greeted by the troopers with a bright smile and once they stop at Kamino after a mission, you'll be one of the few things they'll look forward to.
By now, you can pretty much distinguish all legions for their own unique charisma and cooperation among each other.
The 501st is cheerful and humorous; despite their clumsy and chaotic temper, they work together flawlessly. You'll be swarmed with stories, jokes and even some flirtatious attempts on Jesse's & Fives' account, physical love language such as hugs and handshakes, pretty much treated like one of their own. The Domino Squad especially appreciate you, being one of the very first squads you'd had the chance to accompany. Captain Rex will not even dare to leave your side; he says it’s because he doesn’t want his brothers to overwhelm you but really, he just adores you just as much and feels a kind of safety being close to you.
The 212th on the other is a lot calmer and neat, greeting you politely like they would any commander, but with a warm, grateful undertone. Some, like Waxer and Boil, will even bring you something from their missions, little objects and snacks they found. You’ll have Cody sitting with you during lunch and exchange with him about what you’ve experienced while he was away while he tells you all about the silly moments he witnessed with General Kenobi.
The Wolfpack are like a pack of puppies seeing the master again. The second they see you, they will forget everything around them, all attention now on you, whimpering and whining until they’re dismissed by Wolffe and allowed greet you. Speaking of our favourite commander, he will stand quietly and wordlessly beside you like a guard dog, waiting until the coast is clear to let his guard down and warmly greet you himself.
When it comes to the more unique clone forces, such as the Bad Batch, they’ll likely be able to spend more time with you once they’re on Kamino simply because they’re so small in number. The moment the Marauder lands and the four troopers are off the shuttle, you’ll be squeezed in a tight hug by Wrecker as soon as he gets the chance to. Due to their unique nature and different way of life, the connection you’ll have formed to them will be much more personal and likely seen as mostly unorthodox but that doesn’t matter to them, nor to you or Shaak Ti. Surprisingly enough, sometimes you can even see the ghost of a smile flickering on Crosshair’s face when you approach him after their return from another tough mission. And that means something!
The time between helping out Shaak Ti with the clones’ training and supervising the cadets is usually spent with none other than Omega, Nala Se’s apprentice, who, just like you, tends to feel a bit out of place among all the troopers so it’s nice to exchange with someone who feels similarly every now and then. She sees you as a big sibling, someone she can trust her emotions with and you sincerely return those very feelings.
Seeing you interact so well and kindly with all the clones leaves your master’s heart swelling with joy. She really couldn’t ask for a better student.

If live/dreams were in the pokemon world, what do you think they would do + what do you think their teams would be?
kichi would THRIVE he’s a Pokemon FEIND. Hand that child a fenekin or a chimchar and he beats the game the same day + catches one or two shinies. he’s definitely cocky about winnings. He knows what he’s doing and he’s not afraid to show off about it (causing him and kojika to have a more rival dynamic)
He’d probably have an Infernape, a sandile, and a lucario!!
Aki is more likely to treat her pokemon like pets. She probably has a Turtwig or Sprigatito that only evolves once/never evolves and just stays a little guy, kinda like the Ralts/Gardevoir full art cards that go for a lot of money! She doesn’t battle much and is open about it- she won’t battle. Sometimes she gets cornered and that forces her to, but she uses moves that cause little damage and let her get away. She’d probably have just the one chill guy!! Especially since nozomi would wind up having 3. that is four pets in one house, one of which (the chatot, probably) is a Dumb Gremlin who needs the care/energy equivalent of two pets, not one. Aki as a grandma would probably hand her Sprigatito to a girl that reminds her of herself at that age, hoping the little guy would help said girl.
Kojika, similar to Kichi, trains fire-fighting types and is very open about her battle skills as well as how she isn’t afraid to beat up people who don’t have Pokemon if they’re being rude. This 100% has gotten her a ban from any Pokemon-allowing mixed trainer/non trainer schools and most trainer-only schools. If we’re in the Paldean region, the elite four affectionately refer to her as “Celia Reborn” because of how she jumpscares so many younger trainers and floors all of them lmao. Also probably has a poplio with an everstone to throw Kichi off.
She’d probably have a Growlithe/Arcanane, a Machamp/Machoke, the aforementioned poplio, and rockruff/Lycanrock (night form)!!
“why is it so baby what is that level 10?? I thought you were a-“
“Poplio! Use Brine, bud!”
*one shots the infernape*
“Pokemon… champion…”
“OHHH GOOD BOY!! I knew you could do it!! my little guy~!!”
“WHAT. H-. WHAT. KOJIKA YOU JUST MADE MY DAUGHTER PASS OUT???”
“Aw man. Guess I win. Maybe next time, champ. Here. Take a max revive.”
Nozomi would have. a pokemon who is slipping my brain rn but I KNOW THAT GUY IS REAL. I think he’s a grass type + has a paintbrush lookin tail!!
Nozomi, like Aki would have a more domestic approach to Pokemon, and probably have a bird-type/grass type 3 Pokemon team. she has one big bird as a treat and I think it would be Staravia!! A chatot would also make a really good partner Pokemon for her I think :3 her and Aki raise their Pokemon together, and even when they’re old and grey the Pokemon will probably have only evolved once, if at all. Neighborhood kids will flock to hear adult nozomi and her chatot sing together, Nozomi’s paintings with the aforementioned grass guy would be popular among her historian colleagues, and she’d probably hand her pokemon off to a kid/teen her old grandma self is particularly close to- seeing them as a grandchild/apprentice- once she dies.
UHM. THIS TURNED OUT INTO A FEW PARAGRAPHS. MY BAD. ignore any gen inconsistencies all gens kinda just. merge. in my head…

Okay, the babysitter polls have spurred enough thoughts in me that I need to yap about Wataru. Do I think he would be the world’s best babysitter? No, absolutely not. He’s still unhinged and a freak and would likely forget about the very normal aspects of childcare quite easily (i.e. he would be so busy entertaining them he’d straight up forget to feed them unless one of them reminded him food existed) (also see the time he handed in an essay that just read ”AMAZING⭐️”. He is not helping with homework.)
(Rest of my yapping under the cut bc I got wordy…. Again….)
But…. I do not think he’d be the worst. There’s literally a chapter of Dance Floor where a bunch of kids come to the park and Wataru uses it as an opportunity to try and teach the rest of fine how to entertain kids, and they’re ridiculously impressed with the amount of energy and stamina he’s got whilst endlessly entertaining the children. He captures their attention really well in Toyland, too. Approaching this as someone who spent the last 2 years working at an after school club, I found that the easiest way to get the kids to listen and do what you told them to when you needed them to do something was… to entertain them, match their freak, join their games, and get their attention. Sure, I was working with kids a bit younger than the 4Piece kids, but from my experience with slightly older kids, the theory still works. So with Wataru being canonically good at grabbing children’s attention & sufficiently entertaining them PLUS his willingness to do so (because with a lot of characters, I feel like they’d be bad babysitters because they wouldn’t want to do it. Wataru… is an entertainer, and he loves to surprise people and have them be impressed. Children are a prime target for being impressed and surprised by his new tricks. He has a homescreen voice line about trying his tricks on ppl from different agencies bc everyone else seems to be getting a used to them . The new kids are a perfect target for him to entertain! I think he’d be glad for the opportunity), I think he’s got this.
Now, with the topic of the juniors Wataru doesn’t take care of so well…. I think people often forget that the very prominent examples of how he treats Tomoya and Tori aren’t a blanket example of how he treats his juniors. He’s lovely with Sora and even takes him on as an apprentice despite expressing unwilling to teach him at first, and he was anxious about being looked up to at the start of Puffy Bunny, but he still entertained all his juniors and tried his best with them, even opening up to Hinata!! (and despite the others believing he was pushing them too hard, that wasn’t Wataru’s doing!! He WAS paying attention to their limits, and he felt bad when he thought he had been pushing everyone too hard, not knowing it was those guys putting in extra hours to create stuff for the performance). He’s harsh with Tori’s training because a) when he first met Tori he did NOT care about fine and was essentially just making sure to ruthlessly train him to an ability where his and Eichi’s plans could be carried out, and b) he knew that pushing Tori was going to pay off and release his potential (which it did!! Tori has said that Wataru’s training is effective, if brutal). And with Tomoya, we have stories such as Reloaded where… Wataru’s still a bit of a menace with him (let a guy have some fun- Tomoya is just…. So bulliable, look at him!!!) but he wanted to help Tomoya learn and find asking for help easier. A lot of the time his cruel treatment is to make Tomoya grow, and making him furious at Wataru is a good method, in a weird and warped way (okay it sounds like I’m condoning what Wataru’s done to him which, like, I’M NOT……. BUT IT DID WORK 👀). Remember how Tomoya used to hide in the cupboard of the theatre room until Hokuto was there to save him, and he was just so terrified of what Wataru would do to him that he wouldn’t leave? But now look at him!!!!!! Jumping from planes screaming that he hates Wataru and Eichi!!!! Idk man I kinda feel like Wataru played a large role in that growth hmm (okay I’m getting biased now ugh sorry)
Anyway, all this is to say that I don’t think Wataru would be the WORST babysitter, and I will stand by this firmly. He’s not the best- certainly not out of Puffy Bunny because Mika is right there- but I feel like the worst title could go to any of the others over Wataru. Shinobu is shy and would teach them probably dangerous ninja moves and also is likely to freak out if he can’t get them under control. Hinata…. Would possibly have a lot of fun with it! And COULD be a responsible babysitter!! But he also could very much decide it would be funny to take them out busking and start making them do tricks on the street for money! And Hiiro would take the phrase babysitting literally. And sit on them. Okay probably not and he MIGHT be okay at it buuuuuut I feel like he’s more likely to be confused about stuff and then the kids will gaslight him and Hiiro will leave more traumatised than the children. Love the lil guy but I don’t rate his responsibility when it comes to childcare…
This is way too late to change the poll outcome and I don’t really intend to achieve that. I just enjoy yapping about Wataru and Enstars in general. I’m also possibly wrong about some stuff in here- as much as I read as many stories as possible, I may be misremembering things and I haven’t read everything, so I do apologise if I’ve confidently lied in here. But yeah, if Wataru is cast in the role of ‘babysitter’, that’s a performance he’ll master with competency

As someone who’s experienced and gotten mental trauma from being verbally bullied and/or verbally peer abused in my life-
I honestly dislike how bullying and/or peer abuse is handled in Warrior Cats.
I’ll list some examples here. Please note though that some bits of the series that I mention here I have NOT completely finished reading and/or fully remember, with those parts being filled in from the fandom and/or wiki, so I apologize if I mention any information here in a incorrect and/or wrong way.
Example One: Tallstar’s Revenge
Shrewpaw taunts Tallpaw and calls him “Wormpaw” in order to take fun of Tallpaw’s heritage of his parents being tunnelers. He also unsheathed his claws once while training with Tallpaw as well.
And after Sandgorse - Tallpaw’s father - dies, and tries to go into the tunnels due to the fact that Tallpaw’s father was $h!tty towards him because Tallpaw’s training to be in a Moor runner instead of a tunneler-
Shrewpaw literally says to Tallpaw - a grieving, mentally unwell cat - that literally no one would love or miss him if he died or was gone.
Like- I know that Shrewpaw was also grieving his mother, and probably blamed Tallpaw for death, but’s that’s NO excuse for him to say that to Tallpaw, especially since Shrewpaw himself know the crushing grief and anger of losing a parent.
Your grief does NOT excuse your shitty actions and/or willingly stating bad and harmful $h!t towards others.
But for some reason, instead of the narrative of the book as something not excusable and/or at least putting weight on it to the point that Shrewpaw acknowledges how bad he was to Tallpaw and gradually work his way into being a better person (towards Tallpaw)-
The book instead makes him somewhat like “What? Huh?? I was only teasing you. I didn’t know you were hurt by my bad treatment towards you! :(”
And the book just went along with it and Talltail just believed that awful excuse and just forgave him for that? For some reason??
Example Two: Fire and Ice, and Into the Wild
Sandpaw was a rude bully to Firepaw, insulting and talking badly about him and being xenophobic towards him.
That is until after Fireheart saves her life within Fire and Ice, and Sandstorm grows as a character and treats him nicely after that traumatic and/or mind-changing event occurred.
And it, indeed, does make sense for her character, since she probably internalized and believed the xenophobia within the clans and her viewing Fireheart in a different light after literally saving her life (despite how $h!tty she was him), so her changing her behavior towards him does make sense, and I like that she grew as a person and/or character from that experience.
However, despite this, it does NOT excuse her behavior towards Fireheart when he was a apprentice, and please correct me if I’m wrong about this, but despite how bad she treated Fireheart in the past, he just…forgives her quite quickly and calmly within Fire and Ice after she treats him kindly?
Because I would honestly like it if Fireheart was still quite at least still a bit bitter towards the Sandstorm past treatment towards him, to the point that has to process his disliking of her and/or Sandstorm gradually proves that she’s a better person towards him before they’re chill hanging out with each other.
Example Three: Leopardstar’s Honor
And the fact that Leopardpaw literally gained TRAUMA from Skypaw nearly DROWNING her, to the point that Leopardpaw couldn’t even SWIM in the WATER without being reminded of the fear and pain she felt (possibly nearing drowning) when Skypaw suddenly pushed her head underwater.
And instead of Leopardpaw feeling connected to her mentor to the point that she reveals this traumatic event that occurred and was caused by Skypaw with Skypaw being rightfully punished and/or condoned for it, and her mentor and Sunpaw helping Leopardpaw learn to process and/or overcome that trauma that Skypaw gave her-
Skypaw NEVER gets punished or at least properly addressed for what she did to Leopardpaw, and her mentor - or at least her friend - does NOT learn about what happened to Leopardpaw, resulting in them to believe that she has a average cat dislike for water instead of a fear of water from a TRAUMATIC EVENT that occurred to Leopardpaw.
And while yes, while I suppose there’s a chance that this is probably something that’s a more realistic and/or capable thing to occur within real life-
The fact that this trauma that Skypaw caused Leopardpaw to have wasn’t properly addressed and/or dealt with in a way that honestly doesn’t feel good written honestly…quite irks me a bit.
Of course, I’m NOT surprised that the Erins weren’t able to treat this subject good and/or with proper care (and probably with the most of the serious subjects that they put into their writing)-
I still honestly can’t help but feel quite irritated and/or upset about it, especially when such a sensitive and/or serious subject (that’s already undermined and improperly addressed as h*ll) within a book series whose readers are or at least includes literal CHILDREN isn’t properly treated and/or presented that good (or even decent.)
Please note once again that my knowledge of these parts within the series may not be complete and/or as accurate as they should be, so if I stated or mentioned anything wrong and/or incorrect correct here.
I’m so sorry if I didn’t properly word and write anything well within this confession either, I’m wrote this with zero sleep yet at around 2:15 am - 3:00 am. I’m also sorry if I overreacted to some of the information within this confession as well.
Thank you for reading this rant, and I hope that you have a good day and/or night today.

Okay so for my Shera Swap AU, I’m designing the characters in Hero Forge.
The first one I did was Bo, because I put their names on a wheel to decide the order.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lovely darling Bo
I made him edgier and more Horde-themed.
I couldn’t really do it in Hero Forge but he has a Horde symbol instead of a Heart on his chest.
Don’t worry he’s still a sweetheart even when raised on the side of evil. Like Adora, he’s been raised within the Horde and believes they’re the good guys. (Basically the Horde found him before his Dads did. For convenience I’m assuming his fathers adopted him.) Since the Princess Alliance isn’t as bright and bubbly in this world (with some exceptions such as Scorpia and Sea Hawk) it’s easier for Bo to stay loyal to his friends even after Catra rebels. Catra is framed as a traitor, even by Adora, and Bo doesn’t really witness a lot of what actually plays out. He sort of plays a similar role to the Horde Trio, only he’ll be more active than they are since Adora likes to work with a team more than Catra had.
Bo works a lot with Entrapta (more on her later) in the tech lab. He’s basically her apprentice (and supervisor after Adora gets a higher ranking) and spends most of the orphan’s training time with her. When she gets captured by the Princess Alliance, Bo takes over as the Horde’s tech genius. He’ll probably have an arch where he realizes things aren’t right and play Scorpia’s role of going to the Princess Alliance.
Catra and Bo never got along because Catra and Glimmer turned everything into a competition. Since Bo was loyal to Glimmer, Catra often turned against him by association. I think Catra will have a character arc of working through her co-dependency issues and similar struggles, and part of that arc will involve reflecting on how she treated Bo. She’ll probably reflect about Glimmer too, but not as much since Glimmer started just as many fights as Catra did.
Bo is extremely confused on why Catra is Adora’s closest friend. He’s tried to be patient with her but to no avail. He hasn’t the slightest idea how Adora does it. Well… *had* done it. He’s probably the only one to comfort Adora rather than lecture her or act confused when she’s upset after Catra leaves.
Bo is also the voice of reason in the Best Friend Squad, and often Laudie, Kyle, and Rogelio have to help him talk sense into Adora and Glimmer.
Which reminds me, the Horde Trio will also be in this. They have a sort of awkward friendship with Bo and Glimmer, mostly because Glimmer is too hotheaded for their liking (and favoured by Hordac) and Bo is a huge pushover. Kyle sees Bo as a really close friend. Bo often forgets Kyle’s name and feels really bad for it.
Bo is terrified of Shadow Weaver and has nightmares of her. Glimmer and Catra both tease him for it.
Adora and Bo are both very protective of each other. Glimmer is protective of them too but often gets ahead of herself. Bo and Adora both see each other as their younger sibling. This often starts fights when they say the analogy out loud.
Due to never having birthday parties in the Horde, Bo had a gut feeling that something was missing. He invented the concept of celebrating special occasions by sneaking out at midnight to have a campfire and sing songs they heard from the soldiers. They stopped doing this as teenagers, though, since it became too dangerous and Catra often got the brunt of the punishment.
Anywho, that’s all I have about Bo for now. Next up will be Adora!

Gilly's Letters
Just a tidbit I wanted to get out of my brain, Gilly Cinderheart you have all of my heart <3 Even though I like to break it doing things like this.
- Dear Mama,
I made it to the adventurer’s guild! I would have written earlier, but getting all of the paperwork done and settled into my quarters ended up taking longer than I expected and the next thing I knew we were getting schedules and orders.
Everything around here happens so quickly it makes my head spin. I think Papa would like the hustle and bustle of the routine though. He always complains about how bored he is at home.
They’re telling me that training starts tomorrow though. I thought getting accepted into the Guild meant that they had already assigned me to a seasoned adventurer, but it seems that there is some basic training they like everyone to go through before that. And something about the choices being made ‘after the heroes get to see our grit’ with their own eyes.
I’m taking everything in stride though! I’ll make sure to show everyone here what I’ve got and make sure the support everyone at home has given me will be worth it!
All of my love,
Gilly-pad
Dearest Mama,
Thank you for the care package, knowing that a taste of home will be waiting for me after each day of training is the best motivation to get through the day.
Training is… hard. I knew it would be, but it's so eye opening the difference in expectations here for monster hunting and adventuring is to the little threats that I handled for everyone at home. Really gives a lot of scale to how important the work is!
We haven’t had any adventurer’s looking for apprentices coming in yet, but my teachers all say they’re really impressed with my skills! Especially my ‘special skill’. It’s been really amusing to spar with others who take my size for granted and get to show them how sturdy us halflings can be!
Doing everything to keep you proud, give Papa my love.
Your Gilly-pad
MAMA!!!!
I GOT CHOSEN!! I’M OFFICIALLY AN APPRENTICE TO A GREAT ADVENTURER!!
MAMA YOU WON’T BELIEVE WHO IT IS!!
THE GREAT SIR HORACE TREATY!!!
HE CAME AND WATCHED US AND PICKED ME OUT OF EVERYONE!!!
I’M SO HAPPY I COULD MELT!!
YOUR OFFICIAL ADVENTURER APPRENTICE DAUGHTER!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE FROM YOUR GILLY-PAD
My lovely Mama,
Life on the road has been so hectic, I apologize for the sporadic letters. I didn’t realize how unreliable sending through different post offices could be. Don’t worry too much about trying to keep track of me, sending them to the Adventurer’s Guild will make sure I get them eventually!
But it’s officially been a month! I’ve already been on so many adventures and helped slay so many monsters. It’s been a wonder to watch Sir Horace and his frequent companions work.
Sir Horace treats me well! We’re still getting to know each other so I do fear sometimes he keeps up his ‘hero’ act up with me, but I know I’m wearing him down!
Can’t write long since I have so many tasks to keep up with! But do know I’m having the time of my life! Tell Papa to not get jealous of my adventures!
Your monster slaying girl,
Gilly-pad
Mama,
I know the letters don’t come often enough, I’m so sorry about that. Sir Horace is taking my training seriously though and keeping me plenty busy!
Not only am I learning about actual adventuring and monster slaying, but he is doing the work to make sure I stay… humble. It’s important to not look down on all of the small tasks that keep you moving every day!
And I am never bored! Even when we’re not working Sir Horace keeps my mind sharp with his tales of his years of experience!
One day I want to show you all the places I’ve seen… I think you’d like some of them. But not as much as I love home, I hope to visit you soon.
All my love,
Gilly-pad
Mamsies,
I was just speaking with Sir Horace and he has given me leave once we get back to the city to come back home and visit for a while! He won’t have need of my services for a bit and I do crave your cooking.
We have an engagement - the fabled feast of glory - on the 25th of this month, but afterwards I’ll make my way back to you all! And I’ll be able to tell you of all the heroes I meet at the party!
Missing you and Papa always,
Gilly-pad
As darkness starts to take her - her body worn and bruised - the bravado of her last ‘fuck you’ leaves Gilly’s heart… one final thought… “I wish I could have read your letters Mama… I hope you’ve gotten mine… I’m sorry I couldn’t make good on my promise to visit one last time….”

Today's request is for @isaspell who requested 'Childhood' and that somehow led to...
Cal’s clan is off to the aquarium for a field trip. He’s excited to see the fish, but mostly he’s excited for lunch, because Master Entola promised everyone could have a sweet treat and he’s already chosen a milkshake because those sound amazing. They’ve all packed into the air coach, and he’s taken a window seat, Aster at his side. She’s a little bit older than him, quiet and shy around those who don’t know her, but imaginative and cheerful with Cal.
And she’s got a great idea: they’re going to sneak off and swim with the rabbit sharks.
Cal’s all for it; he’s even packed a dry set of clothes so no one finds out, except Master Entola’s apprentice, Padawan Midi, keeps staring at them like he knows they’re up to something. Aster wants to try though because she’s older than Cal – twelve already – and she’s going to begin training as a healer soon, which means she’ll be leaving the clan and they won’t have a chance to travel into the city together.
It's a long trip to the aquarium. At first, Cal looks out the window, marvelling at how big and busy Coruscant is. So many people flying around doing all kinds of things in all kinds of buildings. After ten minutes though, it all starts to get a bit repetitive. So many skyscrapers, so many vehicles, and so many tunnels into the undercity where they’ve been told they’re never, ever, to go, even though Cal found an echo on Padawan Midi’s teacup that showed he had been to the undercity with many of his friends. It all starts to blur, and even though Aster’s making plans and dishing out orders, Cal falls asleep. By the time he wakes up, the bus has docked and it’s time to go. Aster grabs his hand, chatting excitedly about her plan. Cal hushes her. Padawan Midi stares at them again, especially at Cal. Maybe he can read minds already; some Jedi are really good at that. Cal isn’t. Aster always knows what other people are feeling, which is why she’s going to be such a good healer. If Cal ever needs a healer again, he hopes Aster can be the one to help him.
The children are split into smaller groups. Cal wants to go with Master Entola, but he’s placed with Padawan Midi. At least he’s got Aster with him, and Yumi and Caster. They’ll cover for them when he and Aster make a break for it. They’re Jedi, so there’s no way they’ll fail in their mission.
As they walk through the aquarium, looking at different sea creatures from across the galaxy, bubbly, ambient music plays. The lighting is dim and tinted blue, shimmering to make it seem like they’re under the sea, and there are lots of other people around. There are other children too, probably on trips from the local Coruscant schools. Most of them stare open-mouthed as Cal and his friends go by. Cal remembers to block out other people’s thoughts and feelings, although he does catch a few stray emotions. One grown-up is amazed because they didn’t think Jedi children were allowed out of the Temple. Another swells with jealousy, wishing he too could use the Force and solve all his problems. Cal can’t imagine life without the Force, so he just feels sorry for him.
Eventually, they reach the massive tank where the rabbit-sharks of Pia VI live. Cal’s never seen such a huge tank, and it’s designed to look like the depths of an ocean, complete with a sunken ship for all the fish to swim through. There’s plenty of seating available so everyone can sit while they stare. Padawan Miri reminds them they’re all here to learn about the different life forms to be found in the galaxy and suggests everyone start filling out their worksheets on their datapads. Cal pulls his out of his backpack and pretends to write, but really he’s looking for the doorway Aster says will take them to the top of the tank so they can jump in.
“You are very distracted today, Cal.”
Padawan Miri’s voice makes Cal leap out of his skin. “S-sorry,” he says. Blushing, he looks down at his datapad. “I’ll do my work now.”
“Good boy,” says Padawan Miri, and he moves on to see what Caster’s doing, probably because she’s drawing a lot, pointy tongue sticking out of her mouth. Caster’s the best artist in their clan even though she’s the youngest. It’s how the Force expresses itself through her, and how she deals with the strange dreams she sometimes has. Cal knows, because he picked up one of her drawings once (flames and smoke, coming from a tower) and he felt her fear.
With Padawan Miri distracted, and the rabbit-shark chamber filling up with people, including lots of other children, Cal knows this is their chance. Aster nudges him, grinning, and she slides her datapad away. Cal does the same, heart pounding in his chest. He’s so excited – they’re really going to swim with a rabbit-shark! They make a careful break for it, slipping through the crowd. Aster’s in the lead, like always, and she’s found the door Cal was looking for. It’s on the left side of the tank, and there’s a big sign on it stating STAFF ONLY.
Well, if it’s STAFF ONLY, maybe they should’ve locked it, because Miri nudges the button with the Force and it slides back immediately. They dash through and follow the staircase that leads up, up, up, up. There’s no one here. Cal can hear the water lapping on the side of the tank, smell its overpowering salty scent. It’s kinda gross, actually. He puts his datapad away and then leaves his backpack off to one side. He peers down into the water, but all the fish are way down deep. He can swim, but not all the way down there.
“Help me find some food!” Aster says. “That way, we can bring them all to us.”
Nodding, Cal looks around and sees a huge bucket marked ‘CHUM’. He grabs the handle, ready to tell Aster he –
She can’t believe he proposed. Proposed! And here, in her favourite place in the whole galaxy! Now, if she can convince her boss to let them have the actual ceremony here…
Cal blinks back to the present, glowing with someone else’s happiness. Aster just laughs at him, grabs the bucket, and starts throwing the chum into the water.
It doesn’t take long for the fish, including one of the rabbit sharks, to suddenly break the surface. Aster squeals with delight, reaching out to pet as many of them as she can. She giggles. “They’re so slippery!”
Following her lead, Cal reaches for the rabbit shark. His hand lands between its big ears, the skin beneath his fingers bouncy and slippery. Cal gives scritches to as many of the fish as he can, laughing at them all. There are a lot of them, so many the water’s all churned up. He’s not entirely sure how they’ll even get in the water when there’s so many –
“Cal! Aster!”
It’s not Padawan Miri shouting at them. It’s Master Entola.
“Come here at once!”
Aster and Cal share a look. Busted. Still, Cal thinks as he stands back, grabs his backpack and turns to face Master Entola, it was definitely worth it…
…although he’s not so sure he still feels that way when he and Aster are assigned extra chores and meditation on why they mustn’t run off, and he’s definitely not happy about missing out on ‘saber practice for one whole week…
But not many people can say they got to pat a rabbit-shark…

thinking about destiny swap au now.
im imagining that almost everything would have happened almost pretty much the same as canon but now I'm just thinking about the whole scene when got gillion exiled from the undersea.
like
do you think edyn was allowed to attend the meeting because she was the chosen one and gillion maybe barged in and the events proceeded as canon but gillion without the shield of being the chosen one was about to maybe be struck down right then and there and edyn would've had to jump in to have him not be killed, and as punishment gillion got exiled rather than killed.
or do you think maybe gillion got to sit in, since he wasn't being trained in as the chosen one and according to the black rose oneshot gill seemed interested in the academics, maybe he sat in as one of the apprentices or sth, and edyn burst into the room a similar way gillion did in canon, and an altercation happened which spurred gillion to stand up against one of the elders maybe and enraged they might have exiled gill and made edyns Chosen one training harsher
IF NOBODY GETS ME YOU GET ME
gillion is so EXCITED to join in on a meeting with The Elders and edyn. that joy is slowly turned to disgust when he sees how the elders treat his sister. like she’s not even a person, and she’s just taking it. he’s so upset and confused and he lashes out and suddenly all that wrath is turned on him and edyn is panicking because that’s her brother and they’re talking about executing him.
gillion panics and attacks an official when they make a step towards him. edyn suddenly goes from passively sitting at the sidelines of a meeting to begging the elders not to kill her brother. gillion gets exiled, and edyn is left scrambling to focus on training when all she can think about is how terrified gillion must be and how much danger he might be in.
she doesn’t leave the undersea until she overhears one of the elders talking about how gillion is in the oversea now and how they should track him down and kill him for dishonoring their people.

For the character ask game — Dooku 2, 5, 23! aaand Rael 2, 12, 20, 25!
I'm breaking this ask up into two posts since you were SO, so generous as to give me lots of fun things to talk about!!! :D ❤️ I'm starting with Rael, since he has absolutely become one of my favorite Jedi characters and I want to tell you why.
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
SO MANY THINGS!
I love that literally the first thing he does the very minute he’s introduced is bearhug Dooku. I love that he treats Qui-Gon like a little brother and teaches him to swim. I love that he’s the most overt, direct example of Jedi lineage and Master + Padawan relationships being a family analogue. Not that others aren’t, but the way he outright says it, no metaphors or beating around the bush: Masters LOVE their Padawans, Padawans love their Master. It’s not training, it’s raising.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
My favorite is that Rael and Dooku’s early relationship as Master and apprentice was awful. Dooku is, like, this incredibly high strung, anxious perfectionist who is still almost a teenager when he takes on Rael, and has no idea what he’s doing. Meanwhile, Rael is a problem child who knows more curse words than Dooku does, is a LOT meaner, and mouths off to him constantly because it’s funny. Who even is this stuck-up knowitall who is probably just waiting for him to fail like everyone else?
Then one really bad day, in a string of bad days, Rael pushes Dooku too far, and he just… snaps. No, no lightning or shouting. Those big brown eyes slowly fill up with tears and he hurls himself in the refresher and locks the door. Rael knows he’s crying in there; he can hear him. They’re both appalled.
After that, their relationship becomes the genuinely loving, affectionate one we see in the books. One, because Rael knows Dooku is actually human in there. And two, because he knows how deeply he actually cares about making him into the best Jedi and how desperately invested he is in his success.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Rael and Anakin, if they didn’t immediately get into a fist fight, would be amazing. Anakin loves Qui-Gon, okay, meet Qui-Gon’s cool big brother. And since Rael was the oldest kid they accepted into the Order before Anakin (came in at age 5) and has had issues integrating with the Jedi, he could give him some real big lineage brother advice.
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
I was furious about him at first. He takes the place of Qui-Gon as Dooku’s first Padawan in old canon, and “clueless baby Dooku training Qui-Gon who is almost old enough to be his peer instead of his student” dynamic used to be my bread and butter. So initially, i was pretty put off that now that role is taken by some kind of weird cowboy talking asshole?!
Now, I love it. I’m so here for it. I’ll always love the old version, but I really like this too. He and Dooku are such opposites and it just works. And I love this pattern, between Rael, Sifo-Dyas, and Yoda, of Dooku being this formal, reserved person and the people he’s the closest to are complete playful, deeply affectionate goofballs.
Rael's just a wonderful character. Loving, flawed, complicated, strangely emotionally in tune for this lineage, and he fucks.

Questions 1 through 15 from the relationship asks for Yara and Ace, maybe? 💚
Aaaahhh tysm Dolly!! This genuinely made me feel so much better to type out!
1)How did they meet and what were their first impressions of each other?
They technically met on the Whitebeard Pirates— Yara had joined Whitebeard’s crew about two-and-a-half years or so before Ace did and had worked her way up from apprentice to full crewmember by the time that Ace and the Spade Pirates got into their initial clash with Whitebeard. Speaking of which… It’s so funny to look back on it but Yara HATED Ace at first because of his repeated attempts to kill Whitebeard, her captain/surrogate father. A lot of the Whitebeard Pirates weren’t bothered by Ace, knowing that he wasn’t nearly strong enough to hurt Whitebeard, but Yara was. She treated him as if he had the plague and wouldn’t go near him or talk to him. That started to change once Thatch roped her in to helping train Ace’s observation haki and she started to spend a little more time with him, at the same time that he was starting to come out of his initial angry, angsty phase following his initial defeat at Whitebeard’s hands and his battles with Whitebeard transformed from assassination attempts into genuine combat based on mutual respect. Ace on the other hand never had any ill will towards Yara at any point, even when he was shunning the rest of the Whitebeard Pirates’ attempts to reach him. He just thought she was super pretty and cool tbh… also she just gave off Sad Lonely Vibes that reminded him a lot of himself when he was younger, before he had Luffy to take care of.
2) What kind of dynamic do they have with each other?
They have the most black cat/golden retriever energy lmao Ace can be goofy and fun-loving and super affectionate, whereas Yara tends to be a lot more reserved (she’s basically Mihawk Jr, let’s be real lol) but she loves the attention he gives her and she does give him a lot of love in return, in her own way. Mostly through reassurances when he starts to struggle with his self-worth. (I don’t wanna give too much away about Ace’s past but so much of it is genuinely heartbreaking, my poor boy)
3) What do others think of them?
The other Whitebeard Pirates were relieved when they FINALLY figured it out and got together. Marco and Thatch were pretty relentless with the teasing. Whitebeard was happy that two of his “children” managed to find love in spite of everything that had gone wrong in their lives. Luffy adored Yara the moment she offered him a snack (package of dried meat) that she happened to have in her bag and immediately accepted her as his sister (in law)— though he would’ve done so anyways, meat or no meat, as long as Ace is happy.
4) Do they have the same love language as each other?
They don’t, but they know each others’ love languages really well, so it doesn’t ever become an issue. (I think I had it as: Ace— giving: gift-giving, receiving: words of affirmation; Yara— giving: acts of service, receiving: physical touch).
5) Is their joint future bright or bleak?
Well, I can’t say too much without dropping some MAJOR One Piece spoilers, but I like writing them with a bright future where they end up very happy together for the rest of their days.
6) How close are they physically?
Ace is very physically affectionate, which Yara really loves since she’s very touch-starved. He initiates the vast majority of it, but she absolutely soaks it up when he does. She loves playing with his hair and tracing the freckles on his cheeks (she has a major thing for Ace’s freckles. He’s just too adorable).
7) Do they have a desire to protect each other?
Oh, yeah. The New World (the second half of the Grand Line, where the Four Emperors live) is full of danger and they’re constantly getting into tough battles and having to watch the other’s back. Ace is probably more protective than Yara is because of his Big Brother Instincts, but he knows that stepping on Yara’s toes in battle would not bode well for him afterwards.
8) Do they prefer being alone, together, or with others?
Their favourite thing is being alone together! Ace is the life of the party so he’s always happy to be around whoever and Yara prefers being by herself most of the time, so they kind of meet in the middle there lol
9) Do they laugh at each other?
Good-naturedly, yes. Ace does silly things constantly. Yara tries not to laugh, but she can’t help it. He’s just such a goofball and a sweetheart. Even if she’s laughing at him rather than with him, he considers it a major win just to hear her laugh. He thinks it’s the sweetest sound in the world.
10) Who would win in a fight?
Physically? Ahhh I hate to say it, but Ace. He’s ridiculously strong, considering he’s got a Logia-type Devil Fruit and all three forms of haki, including the rare conqueror’s haki. There’s been quite a bit of debate amongst the fandom about just how strong Ace is, but considering he was once asked to join the Seven Warlords at the ripe age of 17 and fought on equal terms with one of them (Jinbe) for five days straight, the general consensus is that he’s pretty OP. Unfortunately for Yara, I’m not sure if she could match that if they ever were to fight seriously.
Verbally? Yara. Every single time. She’s petty and stubborn and won’t hold back from going for the jugular if need be. Ace can also be very stubborn, but when it comes to Yara being angry with him, he folds like a cheap deck of cards lmao
11) Who is a better liar?
Yara. She has a pretty good poker face and if anyone dares accuse her of lying, she turns on the Dracule Death Glare lol
12) Who is a better caregiver?
Yara, because she has a cooler head than Ace does. Whenever she’s hurt/sick, he’ll be zooming around low-key panicking and just wanting her to get better ASAP. If the situation is reversed, Yara is a lot better at calmly assessing just what he needs and delivering it to him efficiently.
13) Who is a better dancer?
Probably Yara, given that she has probably had to pay a lot more attention to stuff like timing and footwork due to her training as a swordswoman.
14) Who is a better cook?
Neither of them really cook but I think Yara would be more responsible in the kitchen. Ace would probably get impatient and try to heat something up with his Devil Fruit powers and end up incinerating it in the process.
15) Who has better fashion sense?
Yara. She’s a Dracule. It runs in the family.
ask game here!
