Can somebody please explain to me what the appeal of vampires is.
#I'm genuinely curious#people seem to go absolutely feral over this concept and I want to KNOW I want to UNDERSTAND#and there are some really excellent vampire aus that I love and I want to love them MORE because I want to GET IT™#because all I see are like...societally conventionally attractive people with fangs. who maybe (depending on The Lore™)#can't go out in the sun. and that just...doesn't resonate with me?#like I understand metaphors for 'othering' and the concept of monstrosity but I feel like that gets a little lost if there isn't anything#actually UNPALATABLE about them. like if they just look like what we culturally have idealized in human appearance then how can#they serve as a metaphor for ostracization or being misunderstood?#is it primarily an aesthetic thing? is it a *danger is sexy* thing?#but ordinary humans can be plenty dangerous too (see: 90% of the female characters I'm obsessed with)#so is it in the sense of you can vicariously experience that danger and heightened emotion in a situation that's removed from reality#so it feels less overwhelming when you're watching/reading the piece of fiction???#like I have seen this used effectively as a metaphor for marginalization (undead murder farce) and an exploration of how society#defines a 'monster' (shiki) but that doesn't seem to be the way most people or works engage with this concept#is it just that people like when characters are covered in blood because I DO understand that one lmao#I just feel like vampires have been branded as a Key Aspect of Bisexual/Gay Culture and I feel like I am on a separate plane of existence#because It Is Not Clicking For Me#(tbh I feel like there are a lot of Quintessential Queer Experiences™ that don't apply to me but. that's a whole separate thing.)#ANYWAY would love to hear people's thoughts!#I am cooking up a Meta Post™ about fandom reaction to the concept of monstrosity and I want to gather as much information as possible

speaking of my favorite guy at the local boba place. i convinced him to watch shiki when i saw him on sunday :) my life's mission (to make everyone watch shiki) is getting closer and closer to completion
#the conversation basically went > he asked me if i was going to anime boston > i am > he asks me if i'm cosplaying > i am > he asks who i'm#cosplaying > ciel > we chat abt cons for a lil while > i mention offhandedly that the timing of him asking me abt anime boston is funny#bc i was mid kuro rewatch in preparation for anime boston (<doesn't want to seem like a poser but haven't touched most of it for 6 years)#> he's like 'oh yeah and there's a new season coming out right' > i explain the disaster that was the kuro anime > he asks me what other#anime i've been watching recently > immediately answer rozen maiden but then realize. shiki 2010. > he obv has not heard of shiki 2010#> i explain shiki 2010 mainly by saying 'it's so good' > i somehow mange to sell him on it w/o spoiling it#romeo.txt

Do you think Hideaki Anno is right-wing or is it too difficult to tell from his works?
Haha that's a question.
I'll focus on nationalism rather than trying to get into, say, gender politics here, since that's the accusation that most seems to follow Anno around.
Anno's politics are... hard to pin down from his work alone, I think. He's like... a prototypical case of that generation of 'apolitical' otaku that followed after the Anpo generation, with Eva pretty much the definitive statement of the 90s psychological turn. But that said... I can definitely see the argument that there are nationalist themes in some of his works like Gunbuster, though I definitely don't buy every reading in this series (lots of dubious kanji reading). He definitely has that otaku fascination with war machinery and war media (apparently he's a big fan of The Battle for Okinawa and watched it over 100 times), which can easily blend into imperialist ideology.
But there's complications here. For example, the Animekritik series cites the setting of Gunbuster in Okinawa as something formative to the nationalist ideology they are trying to illustrate - in part in relation to the ongoing controversy over American military bases in Okinawa. Anno has at least been on record as saying he's disinterested in Western culture, and I can see the reading of Jung-Freud as an external Other who is shown up by the Japanese girls, somehow simultaneously representing the USSR, Europe and the States. But anti-Americanism in Japan can come in both left and right wing flavours (c.f. Anpo). Communists want the Americans out too! Portraying Okinawa as a military training camp in a Japan-led military coalition certainly comes across as a more nationalist take on that whole matter, but I feel like it's got about the same level of serious nationalist commitment as Doctor Who putting random British people all over space.
When Gainax has played around with nationalist imagery it's usually been in a kind of ironic sendup way - see Ash's writeup about the Aikoku Sentai Dai Nippon controversy, in which Daicon Film staff were disdainful at the accusation that their goofy toku film reflected a genuine nationalist sentiment. While Imaishi takes it further, a lot of Anno's work is also about playfully reappropriating past works. In Anno's case a lot of that is classic tokusatsu, Ultraman in particular, and also Leiji Matsumoto's scifi, notably Space Battleship Yamato, which, well... you know the deal there lol. But it's not so simple to go from that to 'Anno is a nationalist'.
Eva doesn't tend to attract these accusations, but I recall the controversy came back around with Shin Godzilla, though to my mind it's hard to find a straightforwardly nationalist reading of that movie. (It's a film about the experience of the earthquake and Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown, and it's critical of Japan's bureaucracy, but equally one where the JSDF repeatedly get their shit handed to them and civilian infrastructure is what actually stops Godzilla - not to mention Godzilla is painted as quite a tragic figure here!) It all feels pretty tenuous.
I haven't seen as many of Anno's live action films as I'd like, so I can't comment as much on the more recent Shin films, Love & Pop, Shiki-Jitsu etc. And it's always possible for subtler allusions to slip by the anglophone viewer. Still, I don't personally think Anno's post-Gunbuster work is particularly nationalist in outlook. I certainly haven't seen any evidence of him favouring, say, war crime denial, anti-Korean sentiment, remilitarisation, etc etc. - he's definitely not as dubious a figure as someone like Hajime Isayama. But it's not like, anti-nationalist either! It's just kind of hard to read in those terms.
So I lean towards your second option, I'm not convinced he's a nationalist or particularly right wing. He happily associates with Hayao Miyazaki, who's definitely not a right wing guy. But Anno'll also let hilariously cooked stuff like whatever On A Gloomy Night was supposed to be into the Animator Expo. So I don't think he's particularly left wing either, he's no Ikuni! But Anno's fiction is very individual focused, full of psychoanalytic themes and internal conflict. He can vividly portray trauma and complex power dynamics. There's a lot to appreciate in works like Eva from a left-wing angle. I don't really know why this association of nationalism follows him around.
Idk, maybe there's a bunch of interviews I'm missing! Presumably you have a reason for asking this question...

The whole 'You're not made of rubber' comment from the recent comic about teenage Primrose hanging from the ropes made me wonder what kind of devil fruit would Primrose enjoy the most. I personally think the Float-Float fruit, because then she could fly. I watched One Piece: Strong World, and Shiki seems to be having so much fun with that thing.
Mh I think Law will try to prevent at any cost her children eat devil fruits, but since they're both Luffy's spawn they will find a way to eat them (plus I believe that devil fruits makes everything happen to be eaten by their choosen person).
Primrose is obvs looking at her father, despite her mother powers being "super cool," the possibility to stretch her body to fight and such appeals her more. But she learned the hard way that 1) she couldn't learn how to stretch like that, 2) to have her father's power he has to die (the last one made her cry, Law explained that to her when she was 8 -Law that year didn't won the best mom award-).
For her, I imagine a fruit that leaves her sparkling personality shine. She likes running everywhere, jumping and climbing. She has a ton of energy, and sometimes it's hard to keep her pace (Law said that Primrose helped her stay young for they way she was always running to catch her).
I haven't seen that movie yet. But yes, it seems like such a cool power for her! Especially cause she has to keep that secret from her mom, and it's not always easy.
Acer is like, "Mama's gonna find out, and I don't want to be you," and Primrose, "You ate one to! If I'll go down I will take you with me!" While Luffy's behind them, coming out from a shadow, like 'What are we hiding from Mama?"

Ryomen Sukuna, the double-faced specter. The undisputed King of Curses, who had claimed the title of Strongest in his time.
… Versus Gojo Satoru. The Strongest sorcerer of the modern age –the strongest by a wide margin. In this world, at least. Back in his own world, where everything (hopefully) hasn’t gone to hell in a handbasket, Geto Suguru can confidently say that it’s Gojo Satoru and Gojo Shiki who hold the title of ‘Strongest’ together between the two of them.
Suguru had never paused to think what the world might be like without them. Either of them. And in this strange new world that he’d been thrown headfirst into without any warning, in this world where Shiki doesn’t exist and Suguru himself is dead and Satoru is left to carry everything alone, it…
It means that Satoru says that he will face Sukuna by himself, and everyone else nods along to this like it’s a foregone conclusion. As if it’s only natural. And perhaps it is, and Suguru knows that Satoru has always enjoyed a challenge, but–
It’s not the same. It’s not the same. Even though rationally, he knows that the Gojo Satoru in this world isn’t his Satoru, Suguru can’t help but worry for him, even despite the smooth confidence that the other man wears like a second skin. His friends and students in this world worry too, but Suguru can see how a not-insignificant number of them also look like they can’t fathom the thought of Gojo losing.
Because Gojo-sensei is the strongest. Invincible. Immaculate and utterly untouchable, and there is no one else who comes close to approaching him.
(“Stay with us, Suguru?”)
… Suguru worries for him.
It’s why he remains at the outskirts of the battlefield, when Gojo clashes with Sukuna. Hovering, watching, as the two sorcerers tear apart their surroundings; bridges collapsing and buildings ripped apart like wet paper. Suguru himself is a Special Grade sorcerer, but the level of a fight like this remains a cut beyond him, still. Just the multiple back-to-back Domain Expansions alone would’ve been more than enough to kill him several times over. He can feel the hairs rising on the back of his neck at the cursed energy saturating the air, and the sheer power that they throw around so easily…
It’s something that he’s only ever witnessed from Satoru and Shiki before.
…
He doesn’t know how to describe it. In the aftermath of the single most destructive release of Hollow Purple that Suguru has ever seen, Gojo’s victory appears imminent. But even riddled with injuries and missing half his body as he is, Sukuna looks up with Megumi’s face and smiles, baring his teeth as he brings his hand up in a sharp slashing motion, and–
And something inside Suguru twists, blood thundering in his ears, and his reaction is entirely instinctive. Probably the result of one too many heart attacks that Satoru and Shiki have put him through over the years, if he’s being honest here–
Rainbow Dragon, the most powerful defensive cursed spirit in Suguru’s arsenal, falls to the ground in a spray of red-violet blood, sliced in half. It does not move again, and Suguru knows that it will never move again –his connection to the cursed spirit had been severed instantaneously.
But it’s worth it. Because this means that, instead of having his upper torso separated from the rest of his body, Gojo is only missing an arm and a good portion of his shoulder. It’s his right arm, though, which isn’t good; he’ll need to regenerate the limb in order to form seals for his techniques with his hand–
“… Geto?”
“Gojo,” Suguru returns breathlessly, and then there’s no more time for idle talk. Not when Sukuna laughs, and falls upon them, already having healed from his own wounds –grievous wounds that would’ve killed any other sorcerer three times over. Not when the demon is somehow able to cut through Gojo Satoru’s Limitless technique, how is that possible?!
They struggle, and fight, and do their best. It’s not enough. Suguru and Gojo aren’t as in sync with each other as they need to be against an opponent like Ryomen Sukuna. And while Suguru is a Special Grade sorcerer, he’s not a Special Grade the way that Gojo and Sukuna are–!
Even so, Suguru grits his teeth and fights, tooth and nail, because the only other alternative now that he’s well and truly involved in this (as if he could turn his back on Satoru, any version of Satoru) is to give up, and Suguru refuses to do that.
… Is this how I’m going to die?
…
In the brief instant right before Suguru knows that he is about to face certain death, when his mind is only full of an endless refrain of Satoru, Shiki, somehow–
Sukuna stops.
The monster puppeteering Megumi’s body freezes, and looks upwards. It takes a moment for Suguru to register this odd, odd reaction, and he…
… he can’t exactly blame him.
Because when Suguru decides to take his chances and glances upwards himself to see what suddenly caught Sukuna’s attention, it’s abundantly clear that there’s something wrong. The sky –pulses, for lack of a better word. A strange sort of ripple that materializes in this space without any rhyme or reason, before it stretches open, a yawning circle of something–
Something–
Nothing.
Everything.
… What opens up in the sky in this moment is a chalice of purest darkness, overflowing with brilliant light. The frozen dawn, wrought with evening stars. There are flames curling within ice, meteorites shattering into dust, entire galaxies that wither and bloom–
It doesn’t make any sense. It’s utterly incomprehensible. Suguru stares up at the yawning, gaping maw of– of something, surely, but at the same time he doesn’t know what he’s seeing at all. Infinite possibilities, finite endings. Suguru stares and stares, trying to make sense of what he’s seeing, but the more he peers into that unfathomable void in the sky, the less he can decipher from it.
It’s… almost as if his mind simply refuses to register what he’s seeing.
Then, there is a hand.
A pale, white hand, reaching out with open fingers splayed into the air. And he does mean white, alabaster-white. The hand is followed by a slender wrist, than an entire arm, and a shoulder–
… It’s a person, that much is evident from the humanoid form. The towering creature that emerges from the hole in the sky is most certainly not a person, though. In terms of size, it’s probably large enough to rival Mahoraga. And in terms of color, their coloring is wrong.
White. Solidly stark-white, like a statue carved from marble. A flawless and unblemished human form, to be sure; a distinctly androgynous work of perfection that cannot be mistaken for anything other than unnatural.
Two arms fall down at its sides, while two more sweep out with palms faced upwards. The creature also has two heads. One is attached normally to the body as a regular human would be, while the other is offset slightly above it, much like an attentive brother overlooking his sister from behind, for all their eerie similarities–
–hold on just a fucking moment.
That’s… holy shit. Holy shit. Suguru knows those faces, would know it anywhere, even on his deathbed–!
His mind promptly short-circuits at the mind-shattering revelation. It takes a solid moment, before he’s finally able to loosen his tongue enough to speak again.
“… Satoru,” Suguru whispers disbelievingly, hoping against hope and knowing what he sees down to his very soul. “Shiki?”
What the hell. What the hell.
Suguru, his beautiful, beloved, utterly mad lunatics say to him, voice sweet and ringing with dual-toned laughter. Never play hide-and-seek with us like this again.

Explaining Childes rank and why he is much stronger than 11th currently.
My lazy ass was busy with work, but here i am with another post for the few people that will see it.
In this community if you are a Tartaglia fan you probably saw him facing a lot of downplay when it comes to his strength and how he matches up against some characters that dont really stand a chance against him( Diluc). So in this thread ill address most of the downplay people use against him and why its all horrendous and how strong he truly is.
Lets start off with how strong just being a low ranked fatui harbinger makes you:
What Diluc is implying here is that you can do whatever shit you want(almost) because of their diplomacy which is tied to their strength as well. This same Diluc who was happy to raid the fatui right after hearing Signora is here was rushing us to escape. Same Diluc FOUGHT some of the harbingers and has expert knowledge on sneznhaya and is one of the strongest in Mondstadt. Yet he still wanna gets out of there ONLY when he hears she is coming.
Now Childe himself: He fights the Traveler with 2 elements and only loses duo to resorting to Foul Legacy out of rage. Its stated by paimon and archives that fight was extremely close with Childe in delusion having a slight advantage.
To add onto this, this same traveler is AN EQUAL to Ganyu. Another character people believe smokes Childe..
Now we get onto the juicy stuff as far as Childes rank is concerned in 2.2 event that many people missed out on.
Shiki Taishou makes this statement after already seeing traveler in combat, putting Childe>traveler, same traveler who BEAT Signora who is ranked higher.
PAIMON, the person who watched Traveler fight Signora and knows about fatui rankings still believes Childe is the strongest one on the team. She also teases Childe and how we would beat his butt in a rematch, so we have no reason to believe she would be biased in his favor.
I even have the CN TL: 危險之中。我們不能讓他死在那裡!他是隊伍裡最強的 !- says the same thing.
The way we can explain his rank not being updated is a few things:
We learned from the natlan AQ that Capitanos rank wont be changed, meaning Dottore wont be promoted to his rightful nr1 spot.
We know pantalone didnt take signoras spot after she died as well, meaning updates are not as regular as they should be.
There is no proof Tsaritsa would be aware constantly of Childes progress, meanwhile Paimon and Traveler fought Childe, saw his progress in both his story quest and now.
With that mind, Tartaglia would currently be >Signora and by proxy stronger than anyone weaker than Signor and Inazuma traveler which is pretty good.
FONTAINE
Now here is the part that the 5 people that are reading this are excited for. This is where Childe turns into an absolute monster and one of the strongest characters in the lore.
youtube
This might be the most MISSINTEPRETED fight in fiction by any fandom ever. I have never seen people downplay and overrate 2 characters present more in my life.
Lets head to 0:57. Childe, while in his delusion form still transforming, manages to react to Neuvilette OFF GUARD from behind and lands a scratch on him. Neuvilette also knocked him out, which doesnt actually require you to be stronger than the opponent if you do it while they cant protect themselves.
And yes, there are genuinely people who believe this wasnt a scratch on Neuvilette btw xD
And here comes the Narvhal fight which also people lie and spread miss-information about.
Childe only distracted the narvhal, he didnt do any damage!
Neuvilette underestimated the narvhal in the courtroom!
Skirk called him weak, while she called us strong so obviously traveler and Neuvilette clap Childe!
First point can just be debunked by...actually watching the Narvhal cutscene. We see Childe not only outspeed and physically overpowered it, but also scratching and piercing its skin. Keep in mind, this same Childe COLLAPSED right afterwards because he was fighting for many many days.
2)You know whats funny though? The same Neuvilette people hype up for quote on quote one shotting Childe, could not damage the narvhal without a charged attack and got his barrier popped in 4 seconds. He couldnt hold it off for 20 seconds and needed Childe who was on deaths doors to step in and save his ass.
Cant even tickle the narvhal.
Narvhal pops it in 4 seconds. Neuvilette would notice his barrier being cracked and renforce it if he was underestimating it for god knows what reason, but he didnt.
Childe outspeeds it so bad. It was just about to eat the civilians and Childe was coming all the way down from the portal and still overpowered it at 1% of his strength left.
Scratches it multiple times
Pierces it
Neuvilette was also aware that Narvhal is the root of the prophecy and civilians are under danger. There is no reason he would hold back the strength of his shield or attack potency of his attacks.
I wont spam the full conversation, but he was very well aware of everything and why it had attacked here.
Even the archives agree that Neuvilette cannot stop the whale alone and needs to team up with knocking on deaths doors Tartaglia.
And the FINAL point:Skirk was talking in relation to young Ajax. If people had actually read the dialogue they would know it. Paimon says how Childe said Skirk was very quiet and Skirk says she doesnt talk to weaklings. But that Childe...was just a 14 year old Ajax. Of course he would be considered a weakling.
Traveler also had his strength buffed by Neuvilette and fought against a narvhal that was weakened from all the fighting and yet it was still described as a tough fight for us.
Navia says its not at full power and Neuvilette in response to this even says he is grateful Childe delayed it for so long LMAO.
Lightless mass:
A fragment produced from the INTENSE BATTLE against the All-Devouring Narwhal. The universe is a dark and cold place. But look carefully. Inside are always faint glimmers of light, like pearls gleaming from within the sand, splinters of diamond sprinkled over asphalt, lights lancing through the fog on a misty night, and sparks that ignite the brightest blazes.
Funnily enough, this is the same boss drop Childe gave us for his birthday.
All in all this thread is getting way too long so ill stop here. But if any of you Childe fans are arguing against our boys haters, just go back to this thread. Childe is currently the strongest non god tier character in Genshin and he will only continue to grow.
I would put his current rank at around 4-5, depending on how strong the Rooster is.

Translation of part of the story from the bravern bd novel
I've only translated the part at the end about bravern. I might go back and translate the other parts later but right now I'm in Japan on a study abroad I don't have much time.
Spoilers for most of Bravern!
Translation:
In the beginning he said, "let there be light(Isami)"
I was him and he was me. In the end, we became one and the same.
It's because Isami was there that this was able to happen. It's because Isami was there that the world was able to be saved. This is something I wrote in the instant while my life was flashing before my eyes when the death drive of wrath, Ira, hit me with a surprise attack and I began to lose consciousness.
I'm already not sure whether it was me or him that wrote it. However, our feelings towards Isami were one and the same.
That's why I(Bravern)...... I(Smith)...... wrote this for Isami.
I'll make you explode with bravery
Written by: Bravern, who has gone to the stars
When I first met you, you were crying, weren't you?
But because you're a strong person, even though you were confused, you still responded to my request.
When you shouted the name of the special attack...... it was because of your shout that I was able to fight.
And then when you asked "what's your name?" I answered.
I said, "My name is Bravern".......
The next time we met, you were scared.
Of course you were. I made you suspicious, was pestering you, and on top of that I was telling you to fight.
I don't think you could have ridden me even if you wanted to.
The way you kept me in suspense at that time was really charming.
But even still, you rode me once again.
And it's because of that I became sure.
I said, "Oh, Isami. You're my true soulmate"
After that, you stayed inside me all the time.
I thought I was so lucky.
But you were just brooding, weren't you.
You were shocked when you heard me say soulmate, weren't you? At that time I didn't try to understand your feelings at all.
But, but, you know, Isami,
I'm sure you will understand someday. How wonderful fighting together with our burning souls is.
Isami, seeing you get angry and showing your emotions so openly is beautiful, but there's no need to be angry.
Lulu will become a friend who fights with us.
Right now she might only be looking at him, but she'll see your appeal before long Isami.
Just as I was drawn to you, she'll be drawn to you as well. Though, it's understandable that you don't know that now.
So rage, rage. Show your emotions. There's no reason to keep your emotions all to yourself.
You've tried so hard, Isami. You've really freed your mind.
He, and everyone, are really pulling out your emotions.
I only played a small part in making that happen.
When you dove into the sea I was really surprised, but that sea breeze after you came to an understanding with everyone really felt good didn't it?
The large ship we were on board was heading toward the land of the rising sun at battle velocity.
Saving you was honestly really difficult.
There is a poem written by Shiki Masaoka as a gift to his friend headed into the navy.
"Even in war, don't shy away from anything. On your voyage, when the wind blows, blow, when the waves rise, rise."
――――Do your best, Isami
Isami, at that time I was really moved.
I was going into battle with you and him to save the land of the rising sun ―― there's nothing better than this.
The calls from your friends―― your fellow countrymen, were able to reach them.
Due to our brave actions, the uprising was a success.
The sunrise we watched with everyone at that time was beautiful.
And isn't it so―― so great, Isami?
Your comrades, who had the same feelings as you, were still alive.
You'll definitely be able to free the world. And just as you have been wishing, we won't let anyone else die.
Hoping for things is easy. Actually making them happen is difficult.
And you made it happen. It probably would have been impossible on your own. It was something you were able to do with him and your comrades at your back. You're amazing, Isami.
Also, thank you for caring about our new friend superbia.
Starting now, we're traveling thousands of miles to free the world.
Before that, you have to say a very painful farewell, but...... I'm sure you'll be able to overcome it.
Finally, the time had come.
At that time, just as you were fighting with your full strength, I was fighting at mine.
I couldn't make plans for it or prevent it.
If I had done that, I could probably have saved a life. But you know, Isami, I just couldn't do that.
If I did, I might not have been able to meet you. And we wouldn't have had the chance to save the world.
I hope you'll be able to understand that.
That he(smith) had to leave your side, while expressing such strong emotions at that time.
Isami——.
Isami——.
No matter how many times I shouted your name, it wouldn't reach you.
Honestly, at this time I was struck by a sense of unease.
The world beyond this point is a world I don't know. We have to go into it together. So please―― Isami. Hear my voice.
And then, you responded with bravery.
An explosion of bravery―― that's right, an explosion of bravery.
Just as he said at that time, his explosion of bravery was the one and only way to create a path forward for you and me.
Let's go, Isami. His bravery, his explosive feelings, will always be with us.
That's what brave explosion bang bravern is.
Isami, at that time, you were already a hero.
But there was something you didn't do quite right. Something that even I didn't realize. And then Lulu corrected you.
Perhaps his dying words resonated with her too.
That's right, you have to come back alive too.
Let's go, Isami. To the final battle.
Alongside sperbia and lulu――
Isami.
Since you're a strong person, I'm sure you'll be able to do well without me.
You're not just strong, you're also brave.
Sperbia and lulu will be with you. I'm sure you'll be able to save the world.
I'm sad I won't be able to go along with you, but please don't get depressed and move forward somehow.
Isami――Isami――...... I love you, Isami.
When I woke up, Isami―― you were glowing gold.
I thought I'd never see you again. But I was able to see you again.
Bravery fusion————
That was what you got on the other side of your explosion of bravery.
You became me. And I became you. And he (smith) also......
And the lulu (I can't believe she was a soldier from the future!), also fused with superbia and became our sword.
This is yours and his——our true form, bang brave big bang.
This is where my job comes to an end, but if you or him, or everyone else needs me, I'm sure I'll be able to come back. Surely. Surely——。
Let your bravery burn. That, that is what—— the explosion of bravery is——......
New York times square, EST 10:40 PM
In the city that had been rebuilt after the death drives had been defeated, screams of people and the sound of guns are once again ringing through the city.
At that moment, a light lit up the night sky.
And then he appeared.
There was a giant robot with emerald eyes and a red and white mechanical body with gold horns on top——
it was Bravern who had saved the world along with the ATF——.

game au: voicelines 2
notes: fluff, paralive game au, no content warnings, sequel to this based off these two asks ; i didn't do allen because i dislike him lol and couldn't grasp his character
༄ anne faulkner
⁀➷ about their lover:
“oh! what shade of purple do you think is nicer? my partner said they love the way i look in it, so i’ve been buying more clothes recently. the way they fawn over me is so cute!”
⁀➷ fleeting memories:
“isn’t this picture so cute?! i know polaroids are such old tech, but they’re still fun to use. this one was after our third date. they kept losing at the ring toss game trying to win me a stuffed animal, so we just went to the store and bought matching ones together. i think it’s much more special that way.”
⁀➷ true self:
“ah, this is so embarrassing. i hate for you to see me crying.
my mother called and i’m sure you can figure out how that goes. honestly, when i first decided who i wanted to be, my partner was the only one who accepted me with no questions. i think i loved them well before that, but that moment really solidified it, you know?”
⁀➷ the future:
“do you think it’s too soon to design my wedding dress? aha, i know, i know. but it’s not as if i’d marry anyone else. normally i hate thinking about the future - i just like living in the moment, but how can i not be romantic when they’re the one involved?”
༄ hajun yeon
⁀➷ about their lover:
“surely you’re not thinking about making a move on my partner, right? a downgrade such as that is a bit much, even for them.”
⁀➷ fleeting memories:
“honestly, they’re far too sentimental. you’d think it’d kill them to think with their brain instead of their heart for once. they still keep the ticket stub from our first date in their wallet. how foolish can someone get?”
⁀➷ unconventional relationship:
“... what an idiot.
eavesdropping? you should mind your business better, you know? i’m talking about my partner, but i suppose that comment applies to you as well. regardless, what kind of person blushes when they’re insulted? the meaner i get, the more they become infatuated with me. i’ve never seen someone with less survival skills than them.”
⁀➷ the future:
“i truly pray they’re not foolish enough to expect marriage from me. there’s not much the lesser yeon can offer them anyway. i doubt my parents would even bother showing their faces at the ceremony. hm? can you tell me exactly where i said i have no interest in it? i’m simply pointing out the illogical facets of the idea.”
༄ nayuta yatonokami
⁀➷ about their lover:
“hey. if you were matching things with your partner, something subtle is better, right? i used to think this stuff is kinda lame, but i guess it’s nice when it’s with them.”
⁀➷ fleeting memories:
“kanata and i prefer not to live in the past. nothing good happened back then anyway. well, aside from meeting my partner. even compared to shiki, something about them was just different when we clicked. i’ve never been that lucky in life, but if meeting them was the sacrifice i had to make, then i’d do it over again.”
⁀➷ dress-up:
“blue is a better compliment… green? yellow is too invasive - oh. i didn’t hear you come in. you can leave it on the counter, thanks.
hm? oh, my partner’s been wanting to change up their style a bit but didn’t know where to start. i figured i could help them out a bit since it’s something i already enjoy. huh? i didn’t think it was that big of a deal, but they said the same thing as you. it’s not like i mind at all, especially for them.”
⁀➷ the future:
“god, i love my partner but they kept me up all night watching cheesy rom-coms. we made fun of them most of the time, but some they seemed interested in certain things. maybe i should… nevermind. i don’t wanna move too fast. we’re still young, you know? but with that said, i still want them in my life forever. maybe it wouldn’t be all that bad.”
༄ kenta mikoshiba
⁀➷ about their lover:
“fuck off and eat shit, stupid. just cause i’m stuck in this place doesn’t mean they’re up for grabs. ‘sides, they'd never fucking go for you.”
⁀➷ fleeting memories:
“ugh, i’d rather get shot than think about middle school. the only good thing about it was meeting that idiot. you should’ve seen their math scores. totally fucking useless. they’re lucky i was nice enough to help them. well, that and the fact they paid me to tutor them.”
⁀➷ co-op:
“ack, no - to the right, dumbass! we need healing more than buffing right now. i’ll cover you but don’t fucking jump into the middle of fire. god, you fucking suck at this game.
ha? the fuck do you want?! oh, it’s late already. just deal for a few more minutes. i’m tryna make my partner suck less shit than normal at this. d’ya have any idea how hard it is to be the brains of this relationship?! gh! you weren’t supposed to hear that - no, i think you’re smart. quit yelling at me!”
⁀➷ the future:
“you’re either braindead or a stupid ass idealist if you think we’ve talked about any sort of future together. i’m fucking trapped in this shithole, genius. i still don’t even know when my sentence is supposed to be up. pfft, as if i’m breaking up with them before that. ugh, i hate thinking about all that gushy adult shit anyway.”

I would like everyone to know that it’s not just Unpopular Female Characters, the overwhelming majority of the male characters I happen to really like are either from obscure, niche properties no one knows about or (more often) also widely disliked.
#was Thinking™ and I realized this today#there's jaime...but I'm still counting him because the way I appreciate him does NOT match up with the way MOST people like him#people don't GET it#remembering when I watched shiki and I went 'oh look I FINALLY like the sad tortured male character who isn't super outwardly emotional'#and then it turns out that everybody hates him#(not everybody. but like. certainly a much larger percentage of this criminally tiny fandom than I assumed)#(it was the most frequent opinion I saw-at least in the multiple places I went looking)#more people need to watch idinvaded so they can stan my two favorite Sad Wet Cat men I feel like they'd actually be pretty popular#...y'know. if anyone watched that show other than me.#my kingdom for the temporary ability to one (1) time see what everyone else sees

★ Main Story | Act 13 - Budding Spring | Chapter 1 - New Prologue

Towa: (So this is Veludo Station~. It’s smaller than I thought it’d be. The exit should be this way…)
Towa: (Umm, the map app says…)
Towa: Yeah, over there.
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Towa: So this is Veludo Way…
Towa: (This is the heartland of theater, the place with the highest concentration of theaters in all of Japan… all kinds of theater companies, both large and small, are based here.)
Towa: (I’ve only ever seen it in videos, but there really is theater no matter where you look.)
Towa: (It’s amazing that theater continues all the way down the street.)
Towa: And just beyond that is where… the Holy Land…!
Towa: Calm down, calm down. Okay.
*Camera clicks*
Towa: (I’ll let the guys know…)
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
momo has entered the chat.
momo: At Veludo Way rn
Iv: congratsss. haven’t seen where you are rn in a hot minute lol shiki: That’s Veludo Way? Kar: AI detected momo: But it’s legit! Kar: Kinda blurry tho shiki: Congrats on your long-awaited pilgrimage to the Holy Land! Happy for you! momo: Haven’t gotten to the Holy Land yet. Gotta calm down first Iv: lol you’ve gone all that way and still haven’t done that? momo: It’s called the Holy Land because it’s a sacred place that you can’t just wander into, so it’d be impolite to be too careless about it Kar: What’s with the sudden essay lmao Iv: bestie’s trying to hit the nerd count shiki: You’ve been working hard all this time to get to the Holy Land, so you should enjoy it to the fullest. momo: I’ll do that!
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
*Bump*
Towa: !?
???: “--Gh.”
Towa: Huh…
Towa: (He’s crouching down? I wonder if he’s okay… is it my fault for bumping into him…?)
???: “The hell are you doing?”
Towa: (Huh? That voice, I think I’ve heard it before…)
???: “C’mon, let me give you a hand.”
Towa: …G-GOD-za’s Haruto Asuka and Shift Arakawa!?
Shift: “It’s no use~... I can’t walk~...”
Haruto: “You drank too much.”
Shift: “My life’s a mess… I can’t even take another step forward…”
Haruto: “Quit overreacting just because you two broke up!”
Towa: (Ah, could it be… this is Veludo Way’s specialty…)
Shift: “I’m not overreacting! I’m always stuck playing a supporting role. At best, I’m just here to be used. I’ll never have a starring role!”
Shift: “If I keep living like this, I’ll just be stuck as a supporting role in someone else’s life.”
Shift: “What’s even the point of living like this…?”
Haruto: “Then live your own life, not someone else’s. The reason you can’t do that is because you put others at the center as the starring role.”
Haruto: “You’re the leading role in your own life. You’re the one who gets to decide what kind of life you live.”
Shift: “I’m the starring role in my own life…”
Towa: (I can’t believe they can do theater like this without a script…)
Towa: (I’ve only ever seen videos of street acts, but they were doing it so naturally. Amazing…)
Haruto: Thank you very much~!
Towa: --.
Shift: Past GOD-za performances are streaming until tomorrow! It’s only for a limited time, so don’t miss out!
*Applause*
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Towa: (It was way too lucky of me to be able to see a street act done by GOD-za’s top two here…!)
Shift: Ah, sorry for bumpin’ into ya before.
Towa: !! No! Don’t worry about it!
Shift: See ya.
Haruto: Thanks for watching us~.
*Footsteps*
Towa: Haaah~... I should’ve taken a video…
Towa: (Veludo Way really is the place to see street acts done by a whole bunch of different theater companies.)
Towa: (Maybe I’ll see them too…)
Towa: (No way, it’d be impossible to have that kind of crazy luck two times in a row, but, but, what if I really did meet my oshi…)
Towa: --.
*Paper rustling*
Towa: (It’s something that’s way too good to ever actually happen, but I’ve decided that in the unlikely event that I do meet him, I’m going to make sure I get him to autograph this.)
Towa: (My most treasured possession…)
Towa: Ah, wait, did I bring a pen to get his autograph…
Towa: (Huh, I don’t have it. Did I seriously forget it~?)
*Wind blows*
Towa: Ah--!
*Paper falls to the ground*
???: …?

genuinely i think the pivot from being afraid of the shiki to being absolutely terrified FOR the shiki is one of, if not the most well executed 'humans were the real monsters all along' i've ever seen

By the way: if you’re only watching the hyq anime and are complaining about the bad writing and bad animation — read the manga. “Oh but everyone says that the manga sucks as well!” IT DOES. But at least know the source material before you criticise it.
People keep saying that they don’t wanna read the hyq and ik it seems terrible based on what everyone’s saying about it, but truth is: it isn’t that bad. Like, it’s very much in the same league as the last Fairy Tail arc imo, and while the art is different and sometimes portrays characters poorly, it’s not nearly as bad as the anime.
Also, people have to remember that most of the complaints are coming from us who follow the sequel as the chapters are coming out: OF COURSE we’re gonna complain, it’s naturally disappointing when we’ve waited 2 weeks for a chapter that doesn’t cover what we want. But when I reread the manga I realise that the pacing is good — it’s pretty fast, even! It just doesn’t feel like it when we’re in for the long run.
All I’m trying to say is don’t be scared to read the hyq. Unless you only like Fairy Tail for side characters, the actual series isn’t bad.
And for NaLu fans: I urge you to read Eden’s Zero. Because Shiki and Rebecca are pretty similar to Natsu and Lucy, and if you understand how Mashima portrayed their relationship, you’ll understand why Natsu and Lucy are progressing, just not in the same way as gruvia and jerza.
