#tillhumanvxices#☾ ooc tag.#like i mean don't get me wrong#i have onions about the choice to cast her#and i think it was a mistake to make the countess the hub character of s5 when... that was the role jlange had played in all the previous#seasons#those are REALLY BIG SHOES to fill and it's a lot to ask of an inexperienced actor#who you're also hampering via the writing and styling of her character#bc like? i genuinely feel elizabeth was written#or at the very least adjusted#with the consciousness that This Is Lady Gaga In The Part.#they wanted her celebrity persona to be incorporated into the mystique as a character#and that was to gaga's DETRIMENT because it didn't free her to actually inhabit the character#she had to play gaga playing elizabeth#rather than just play elizabeth#whereas in s6 she got to be free#she showed up for like 6 seconds admittedly#but scathach was clearly not gaga#she got to be dirty and ugly and violent and scary in ways she couldn't as elizabeth because she didn't have to put a filter of#stylized characterization#over the already extant stylized image of her public self#... i went off on a tangent
