Do you have any gameplay opinions on the Fire Emblem series?

I don't know if I've played enough of the games to have nuanced or well-informed opinions on the series' gameplay, but uhhh lemme see what I got

Gender-locking classes is silly and I will forever pout at Awakening for doing it. That should never be a thing in any FE game henceforth, don't even @ me.

On the flip side though, restricting what specific classes a specific character has access to helps everybody feel more distinct from each other and we should keep doing that.

More games should let me hand a character a whole ass tree to use as a weapon

I think the hit rate displayed in the UI should be slightly lower than the actual chance of landing a hit. Similar to "make the hurtboxes slightly smaller than the model/sprite" and other related game design principles, this would be improves the feel and player perception of hit rates, such that a 70% chance to hit actually feels like an honest 70%, instead of feeling like "this character couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, why do i even bring you anywhere".

The accessory system from Fates was hilarious. More games should let the main character rock holo sunglasses in the dramatic final cutscenes.

Heroes make the skill descriptions shorter than a five paragraph essay challenge (impossible)

I love three hopes??? Like legitimately love it?? No clue why there's so much hate for this game and I'm a bit sad because it means we probably won't get a third game to really cap off fodlan.

The three main routes all get to be different, and unique and do things that are different from the first game! Edelgard does away with TWSitD, Dimitri gets to be a king instead of a boar, and Claude gets to be a real character instead of following Silver Snow! Rhea doesn't have to spend 3/4 of the routes in girlboss jail half the time!

Every single character feels unique with the personal skills! We get to see sooo many minor characters! Characters have dialogues for fighting (and even killing) friends! Recruitments is based on plot and character motives instead of player will!

The house lords all team up! We get to fight the second soul in us! There's so many more gay pairings and characters coming out in canon!

I'm one of the rare fire emblem fans that really liked the gameplay of three houses but from a character and plot perspective three hopes just works so much better that I can't really see wanting to go back for replays
