𝖍𝖎𝖎 𝖜𝖗𝖎𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖘 !! ♡ nothing like ringing in the new year with an updated permanent writing call !! my name is dana (25f) and i am eternally seeking solid 21+ partners for slice of life content on discord !! i am a multi-muse writer seeking all connections (mxf, mxm, fxf) all the time. ***note: i am very selective regarding mxm plots. i pen morally grey muses who originate from a variety of backgrounds and belong to a variety of age ranges. writing-wise, i am always seeking to capture life in all its beauty and wretchedness as closely as possible and, because of this, mature themes will present themselves throughout the course of my writing. ***please, please, p l e a s e read my guidelines for more information on this, as some of the content i touch on may be distressing/disturbing depending on one’s tolerance. i am seeking writers who are interested in creating constellations of sorts with our muses, ones that can then form an intricate, exciting universe for all our bbys. that being said, if you also enjoy playing out not just romantic connections but platonic/familial/work-related/etc. ones, i’m the writer for you !! pls see content below for more information:
guidelines | my muses | ‘banned’ muse list
***D I S C L A I M E R S : i do NOT “double” so pls don’t ask !! in my experience, “doubling” almost always leads to unnecessary stress, pressure, and one story going neglected. additionally, i no longer collaborate with writers that only pen female and/or sub muses. PLEASE do not use me for my male muses, it’s extremely evident when someone is doing this and i don’t take to it kindly. all of this is non-negotiable territory for me. roleplaying should be a fun exercise in creativity, literacy, and leisure, that’s the whole point !! therefore, i am exclusively seeking writers who lovingly pen a strong, diverse array of muses and wish to bring engaging stories to life, collaboratively. mumus all the way ♡
i am always on the hunt for the following (this isn’t a comprehensive list):
age gaps. age gaps in all their glory, especially if it’s a younger man x older woman dynamic. exploring the excitement but also the struggles of individuals attempting to make something work whilst being in two completely different stages of life.
forbidden relationships. for whatever reason, they shouldn’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t possibly be able to make it work, but that sure as hell doesn’t stop them from trying.
toxic lovers. the on-again-off-again lovers, the lovers who know that it would be the best for both of them to just let go but cannot find themselves doing so, the jealous, obsessive, the deranged, the bonnie and clydes, the generally unhinged intertwining themselves together. just, please.
friends-to-lovers. this one speaks for itself !!
exes. see description above :)
throuples, throuples, throuples baby !! i am mostly seeking an mxfxf, but i could also be swayed into mxfxm, fxfxf, and maybe an mxmxm (under very selective circumstances.)
growing pains. the agony that is the human existence, especially during the young adult years where everyone is just trying to orient themselves to what life is about.
crime. cartels, mafias, gangs, the luxury but also the grime and danger that comes with operating underground, in the shadows of polite society.
apartment mumus. i can’t get enough of these !! any opportunities to integrate a diverse set of muses into one setting and play out their lives/how they intertwine, i am there for.
if any of this captures your interest, please don’t hesitate to drop a lil ♡ below or feel free to reach out directly !!

Yolanda Arrey to release a new studio work: “I Am the Storm”
Yolanda Arrey has recently announced the release of her brand new album, "I Am the Storm."
This new record is a perfect example of what it’s like to create compelling and emotionally powerful modern soul and R&B music with a warm flow. In addition, the music comes from an extremely personal place. Yolanda created this album during a very tough period in her life. She experienced a lot of darkness and went through some tough times. For this reason, making music was more than just plain entertainment to her. It became a way for the artist to start healing and share her story. Creating the beautiful songs on “I Am the Storm” was an opportunity for her to fully spread her wings and channel her heart after such a trying period in her life.
Eventually, Yolanda came across a very inspiring quote by Jake Remington: ”Fate whispers to the warrior, 'You cannot withstand the storm,' and the warrior replies, 'I am the storm.'" This quote deeply resonated with her, as it spoke to what she was going through at the time. She once thought she couldn't survive all the hurt she went through, as it seems like an insurmountable mountain. However, she found the will to move forward and overcome her struggles. This album is a celebration of strength and positive energy, and it also comes along with another beautiful milestone in Yolanda’s life. She recently had a beautiful baby boy, and everything is starting to come full circle.
One of the most distinctive traits of this release is certainly the energy and the drive that fuels the artist’s performance. The vocals feel very animated and spontaneous, an obvious sign that Yolanda is genuinely connecting with her lyrics on a much deeper level. This isn’t just a puppet singer popping out catchy hooks; there is a deeper concept behind the songwriting, which really adds weight to the mix. Her performance is personable and edgy, and this release is also quite distinctive because of the sheer quality of the production. The mix is balanced and very detail-oriented, making for a lively, edgy, and stark sonic approach. In other words, there are many subtle nuances in this release, which really add to the richness of the track when summed up together. The frequency spectrum of the mix is also very balanced, with a tight, yet deep low end working wonders along with a smooth top end, which adds a sense of clarity to the music.
"I Am the Storm” stands out for its modern sound, but although the production is quite polished, it is never overproduced, allowing a lot of wonderfully organic and “human” elements to really add liveliness to the mix - especially the natural beauty of her voice. This album showcases Yolanda's ability to blend contemporary techniques with the raw emotionality of classic soul and R&B. The result is a collection of songs that are as technically impressive as they are emotionally resonant.
Yolanda's journey through hardship and her triumph over adversity are palpable in every note. The first song to be released from this record is titled “The Perfect Pair,” and it is a great example of this. Her ability to translate her personal experiences into universally relatable music is a testament to her artistry. The album’s title track, "I Am the Storm," is particularly powerful, serving as both a personal anthem and an empowering message to listeners. It encapsulates the album's overarching themes of resilience and self-empowerment. At the same time, the songs are catchy and memorable, binging so much depth and musicianship to the table.
Ultimately, "I Am the Storm" is an album that I’d definitely recommend giving a listen, particularly if you are a fan of artists such as Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, and Jennifer Hudson, only to mention a few. This is the kind of release that will surprise you with its sonic variety, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat due to its catchy, yet unpredictable arrangements. Yolanda’s vocal delivery is both heartfelt and technically flawless, making each song a compelling listen.
In addition to her vocal prowess, Yolanda’s songwriting shines throughout the album. Each track tells a story, weaving together themes of love, loss, and redemption. The lyrics are poignant and introspective, yet they also carry a sense of hope and renewal. The production quality complements these themes, with lush arrangements and meticulous attention to detail that enhance the emotional impact of the songs.
"I Am the Storm" is more than just an album; it’s a testament to Yolanda Arrey’s resilience and artistic vision. Her ability to turn personal pain into beautiful music is inspiring, and her story adds a profound depth to the listening experience. This album is a reminder of the power of music to heal and transform, and it’s sure to resonate with anyone who has faced their own storms in life. Yolanda Arrey’s "I Am the Storm" is a powerful and evocative album that captures the essence of modern soul and R&B. It’s a deeply personal project that showcases Yolanda’s incredible talent and her ability to connect with listeners on an emotional level. This album is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates music that is both technically excellent and profoundly moving. With "I Am the Storm," Yolanda Arrey has set a new standard for herself and for the genre, delivering an unforgettable listening experience that will leave a lasting impression.

All the books I reviewed in 2020
I know it's a little late for Xmas shipping, but I'm FINALLY getting around to publishing a roundup of all the books I reviewed in 2019!
Part 1: FICTION FOR ADULTS
I. AGENCY by William Gibson: A sequel to The Peripheral for the Trump years, about seductive bitterness of imagined alternate timelines, filled with cyberpunk cool and action.
https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/books/story/2020-01-24/agency-william-gibson
II. RIOT BABY by Tochi Onyebuchi: An incandescent Afrofuturist novella that connects the Rodney King uprising with contemporary struggle, pitting supernatural powers against dire politics.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/04/23/riot-baby/#Tochi-Onyebuchi
III. OR WHAT YOU WILL by Jo Walton: A metafiction about the desperate attempt of a character to pull his writer into a fictional world to save the both from human mortality.

VI. AFTERLAND by Lauren Beukes: Eerily well-timed road-trip novel set after a prostate-cancer plague wipes out nearly every man on Earth, except for the protagonist's teenaged son, who is now being hunted by the (all-female) US government.

VII. BALLISTIC KISS by Richard Kadrey: Sandman Slim confronts the worst demons of all - his own trauma and self-doubt.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/08/25/anxietypunk/#bk
VIII. SQUEEZE ME by Carl Hiaasen: Hiaasen was writing comedic whodunnits about improbable Florida Man types decades before the memes, and his Mar-a-Lago gator plague novel is a hectic and hilarious tale for our times.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/10/05/florida-man/#disappearing-act
VIII. The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson: KSR says it's his last novel and I say it's the book he's been training to write all his life. If you like your climate fiction wrenching but still uplifting enough to move you to tears...
https://pluralistic.net/2020/12/03/ministry-for-the-future/#ksr

https://pluralistic.net/2020/10/05/florida-man/#wannamakers-ghost
VIII. MONOPOLIES SUCK by Sally Hubbard: There are plenty of *great* books about monopolies and the resurgence in antitrust, but Hubbard's is the most practical, providing the reader with excellent advice for actually *doing something* about monopolism.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/10/27/peads-r-us/#sally-hubbard
IX. BREAK 'EM UP by Zephyr Teachout: The most lucid, readable, infuriating, energizing book on the rise of monopolies. Teachout never loses sight of the systemic nature of the problem, even as she uses individual stories to tell the tale.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/07/29/break-em-up/#break-em-up
X. BOUNDLESS REALM by Fox Nolte: There has never been a better book about the Haunted Mansion (indeed, this is one of the best books ever written about environmental design in general). Nolte goes *way* beyond trite wisdom about "storytelling."
https://pluralistic.net/2020/11/09/boundless-realm/#fuxxfur
PART 3: GRAPHIC NOVELS
I. YEAR OF THE RABBIT by Tean Viasna: A graphic memoir of Viasna's harrowing boyhood during the rise of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. It's a tale we've rarely seen through the eyes of a child, and brilliantly realized.
https://memex.craphound.com/2020/01/22/year-of-the-rabbit-a-graphic-novel-memoir-of-one-familys-life-under-the-khmer-rouge/
II. FEMALE FURIES by @misscecil: Castellucci uses an obscure and anachronistic all-woman cast of DC Universe b-characters to tell an incredible, smart, pitiless story about #MeToo, comics, solidarity and betrayal.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/06/29/female-furies/#apokolips-now
III. LONELINESS OF THE LONG-DISTANCE CARTOONIST by Adrian Tomine: A memoir of intensely felt impostor syndrome, a forceful reminder that comparison is the thief of joy - and that the traits that keep an artist going at first go toxic over time.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/07/21/the-thief-of-joy/#tomine
IV. CONSTITUTION ILLUSTRATED by R Sikoryak: The Trump years were an unhappy crash-course in Constitutional law, but Sikoryak's genius adaptation of the Constitution in the style of dozens of cartoonists is a pure delight.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/07/27/ip/#r-sikoryak
PART 4: KIDS AND YA
I. SEND PICS by Lauren McLaughlin: A YA novel that's a thrilling revenge-play about "revenge porn," a cyber-heist novel that's also a sneaky and forceful book about teen girls' sexuality.
https://memex.craphound.com/2020/04/21/send-pics-ripping-brutal-amazing-novel-about-teens-sextortion-revenge-and-justice/
II. IMPOSSIBLE MUSIC by Sean Williams: A YA novel about a music-obsessed kid who loses his hearing is the frame for a book about ability, adaptation, music theory, family, Deafness and what dreams are really for.

https://pluralistic.net/2020/08/31/ai-rights-now/#len-vlahos
IV. ADVENTURES OF A DWERGISH GIRL, by Daniel Pinkwater: Like every Pinkwater novel, it defies description, it is brilliant, and it is his best to date. Ghosts, Revolutionary War fleshbots, papaya juice, and supernatural beings from the Catskills!
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/25/dwergish-girl/#you-are-a-pickle
V. WITCH by Finbar Hawkins: A beautiful debut novel about a pair of 17th century sisters who avenge themselves against the witchfinders that murdered their mother. A superbly told historical.

FINALLY: I published *four* books in 2020!
I. POESY THE MONSTER SLAYER: My debut picture book, about a little girl who turns her toys into weapons and torments her parents by hunting monsters all night, with wonderful art by Matt Rockefeller:
https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781626723627

https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250774583
III. ATTACK SURFACE: A standalone, adult sequel to Little Brother and Homeland. The New York Times called it "vocal and unflinching" and "ultimately optimistic"; the Washington Post called it a "riveting techno-thriller."
https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250757531
IV. HOW TO DESTROY SURVEILLANCE CAPITALISM: A long pamphlet/short book that makes the case that Big Tech manipulates us and spies on us because they have monopolies - not because they've developed devastating, data-driven mind-control.

Status: Extinct - Extant, Least Concern
Time and Place: Between 12,000 years ago and today, in the Holocene of the Quaternary
Hoopoes are known from all over the Eastern Hemisphere
Physical Description: Hoopoes are extremely distinctive birds! They have very long, thin, and curved bills that extend out greatly from their heads, and huge crests on their heads that are easily spotted. They have long, thin bodies, and feet built for perching. THeir wings are very square-ish, and they have shorter tails than other birds. However, their coloration is decidedly where they are most distinctive of all. They have bright orange heads, with orange crests - but the crests end in very slight white bandings and then black tips. Their bodies are orange, but their wings and rumps and tails are black and white striped all over! They are such beautiful, distinctive birds. The shades of orange can differ in brightness or redness based on species (for example, the African Hoopoe tends to be redder than the Eurasian Hoopoe), but they do tend to be overall similar to one another in appearance. Living species range between 19 and 32 centimeters long; the extinct Saint Helena Hoopoe, though it had smaller wings, probably could have reached 36 centimeters long.
Madagascan Hoopoe by Charles J. Sharp, CC BY-SA 4.0
Diet: Hoopoes primarily feed on insects, especially larvae, though some larger animals are also fed upon by these animals.
Common Hoopoe by Charles J. Sharp, CC BY-SA 4.0
Behavior: Hoopoes are very curious, adventurous birds, spending a lot of their time foraginging on the ground - they’ll dig with their bills into soft earth, using them to turn over leaves and probing into the mud and dung for insects and other invertebrates. They’ll even use their bills to prise off the bark from trees, or forage for insects in lichen! Sometimes, these birds also smash their food against the ground to They’ll usually forage in pairs or alone, spending a lot of their days looking for food. Some Hoopoes - especially the Madagascan Hoopoe - will forage in even slightly larger groups, of up to six individuals. Fascinatingly, Hoopoes have their own version of Penicillin - Anting! They’ll find piles of ants and roll around in them, allowing the ants to cover their feathers. The ants then secret substances that will kill bacteria, fungi, and other insects - protecting the Hoopoe (and other birds that Ant) from illness! These birds also take dust and sand baths to clean themselves; they’ll also sunbathe by spreading out their wings and tail low to the ground and tilting their heads up!
Madagascan Hoopoe by Charles J. Sharp, CC By-SA 4.0
Hoopoes are distinctive in one very special way that lead to its name - their voice! They literally make calls that sounds like “hoo-poo-poo” and “hoop-oop hoop-oop” - leading to the name, Hoopoe, as well as the genus name, Upupa, and the species name of the Eurasian species, epops. Interestingly enough, the Madagascan Hoopoe does not make this sound - but rather, more cooing sounds, like doves. These birds will also make harsh, scolding calls, trills, and hisses, depending on the situation. The females and males will communicate primarily in trilling sounds while watching out for their nests. These birds are often sedentary, not migrating over long distance, but northern populations usually do come south in the winter to avoid colder climates, creating a variety of populations with very distinctive seasons and migrational patterns from one another within the species.
Saint Helena Hoopoe by Apokryltaros, CC BY 2.5
Hoopoes are monogamous each breeding season (which varies throughout the year as Hoopoes live all over the Eastern Hemisphere), forming strong pair bonds (that only last for that period of time). Males make very frequent calls to establish their territories, and they often fight with each other very brutally - including stabbings that can leave their opponents blinded. Females will then mate with the winners of these contests, and together they make nests out of holes in trees and walls with very narrow entrances. They usually aren’t lined with much. The female then incubates the egg, while the male defends her and the nest. Clutch size tends to depend on location, varying between 4 and 12 eggs per nest. They are incubated for nearly three weeks. At hatching, the chicks are very white and fluffy after a few days, and the crest develops after two weeks. The chicks are able to leave the nest after about a month, though they still stick with their families for a little while. Sometimes, when males defeat each other and replace each other in the mated pair, they will kill the offspring of the replaced male. Females can produce foul-smelling liquid, as do the babies, to protect themselves from predators - since they smell like rotting meat, they can fend off meat-eaters and parasites, and potentially fend off bacteria. Chicks in the nests also are able to literally poop at intruders, helping them to protect themselves! After leaving the nest, they stay with the parents for another week as they gain their bearings; they then become sexually mature between ages one and two.

Ecosystem: Hoopoes live mainly in open country - pastures, orchards, steppe, dry savanna, wooded savanna, short grassland, and bare ground. They congregate near scattered, isolated trees for their roosting and nesting. They do need perches and shade, but they want the trees they get these services from to be rare in the environments - so they can go down to the ground to get their food! They are fed upon by herons, falcons, and many other birds of prey.
African Hoopoe by Derek Keats, CC BY 2.0
Other: Most hoopoes are not currently threatened with extinction - they are extremely common, widespread birds, that are even protected in many localities (being highly venerated in many cultures - it’s even mentioned extensively in the Quaran - and made the national bird of Israel; it is also considered a pest controller and thus is protected on that front also. Some local populations, such as those in Morocco, are more threatened due to local practices (such as selling them for medicine), but overall they seem to be doing well. In fact, there are probably as many as 10 million Hoopoe around today, if not more. Still, in more northern countries such as Germany they are more endangered, primarily due to changes in habitat, hunting, and human activity giving pressure to the populations. The numbers in Madagascar are slightly vulnerable too, given forest clearance. Hoopoes are closely related to the Hornbills!
Saint Helena Hoopoe by Scott Reid
Species Differences: The four species primarily differ based on location: The African Hoopoe is found in Africa; the Eurasian Hoopoe is found in Eurasia; the Madagascan Hoopoe is known from Madgascar: and the late Saint Helena Hoopoe - now extinct - was known from the island of Saint Helena off the coast of Africa! The Saint Helena Hoopoe differed from the other species in other ways, too - it had smaller wings, was somewhat larger, and was probably flightless! A giant flightless Hoopoe! And, like most large flightless birds of the recent past, it went extinct due to human activity on the island - this time, sometime in the 1500s.

As well as when you find a red head along with blue eyes, you are taking a look at the rarest colour blend of all for humans. It is actually completely possible (though incredibly inadvisable) to create a mono-white deck with just legendary creatures in it. In comparison, each two-color mixture has a tendency to have about 20 qualifying creatures, each allied-three-color combo has an average of 8, and also each enemy-three-color blend sports 3 or even 4. Without mono-colored leaders, the layout will be actually far, much less diverse. P.s. Dark shades: It used to be that black was the different colors of grieving. They need to have quite dense and also bright shade that is actually primarily one shade (rather than possessing both green as well as red, for example). Introduction
It was a warm evening in late March when I had my first proud mother moment. It happened as I arrived through my front door with Mister Firstborn after his birth just a day or so earlier. He was kindly letting me know, in his most endearing newborn way, that he was Not Happy.
“What’s wrong, baby?” I cried as the door crashed closed, that little scream piercing my ears and melting my heart.
Yes, it was indeed my first proud mother moment. My son had inherited my voice.
What is it about your child’s voice that will stop you in your tracks every single time, causing you to drop your coffee, your shopping, and your reason? How on earth does that little person make such a big sound?
In my work as an opera singer, vocal coach and university lecturer, this is a fascinating question for me. As singers working with no amplification, making big, beautiful, rich and resonant sounds is on our minds most of the time. I spent twenty years learning to recreate an extremely refined, adult version of my baby’s voice to spend some fabulous years touring the world singing.
I realised in that moment, that my husband and I had done it: we had produced a little Pavarotti. The good news is, so can you!
Physical development of the voice in newborn babies
A person’s vocal tract consists predominately of larynx (voice box), vocal folds (vocal cords), trachea (wind pipe), lungs, pharynx, mouth, tongue and epiglottis, and, to a minor extent, nasal passages. The vocal folds are two flaps of soft tissue housed within the larynx.
Your voice is produced when the vocal folds are powered by air from the lungs to vibrate, thus producing sound waves. This sound is then shaped by the pharynx, tongue, mouth, teeth and lips to create speech and singing.
Your baby’s vocal physiology is fundamentally different in structure and function to that of a child or adult, set up mainly to ensure their survival. It has two functions: to cry for help and to drink in the most efficient way possible.
Babies therefore have much smaller lungs to make more space in the digestive system for milk. While an adult’s larynx is located about halfway down the neck, a baby’s is located right behind their jaw and is much less mobile. The epiglottis overlaps with the soft palate and the vocal folds themselves are much softer and more pliable.
This different physiology offers a newborn several benefits. Firstly, it virtually eliminates choking when nursing, allowing them to breathe and swallow at the same time. They are also able to fill their mouths completely before swallowing, which means more milk in less time- a huge advantage for the initial growth period.
This physical setup also produces and enhances high frequencies in the vocal sound. Amazingly, the average baby only cries at about 90 decibels: as loud as a blender or hairdryer. However, the high frequency amplification is what gives the cry its “cut”, allowing them to be heard clearly.
The vocal apparatus while crying is also surprisingly free of excessive muscular tension. This, coupled with the softer tissue, is how your little one can cry for hours without losing their voice.
What your baby is practicing vocally
From the moment of birth, your baby vocalises. Newborn cries contain all the elements of successful speech and singing: emotion, pitch and rhythm, loud and soft.
When not crying, your baby may practice cooing: happy vowel-like sounds lasting up to three seconds in duration.
Encouraging your baby’s voice
Here are some simple tips for inspiring your baby's first experiences with voice:
In utero. Talk and sing to your baby often in the last three months of pregnancy. Amazingly, babies have been found to move instinctively, subtly and intricately to the rhythm patterns of mother’s speech. Talking and singing frequently, playfully and lovingly to a baby in utero can increase his memory for both language and pitch.
Motherese. Research has shown that newborn babies prefer to listen to human voices to non-human voices, and prefer to listen to their mother’s voice and her native language to other voices or languages. Motherese contains all the elements of a song: higher pitch range, extended vowels and greater pitch variation. This imitative, instinctive behaviour between baby and adult will naturally develop speech and singing as part of the child’s environment.
What is motherese?
Does your voice change when you talk to a baby? Do you speak more slowly, more clearly and use simplified language? Do you use baby words and exaggerated facial expressions? This is motherese. You are making it easier for your child to understand you. By removing unnecessary words you draw your child's attention to those that are most important. Vroom, vroom! Nee-naw! Look! Fire engine. Red fire engine? Can you see it? Off it goes! Bye-bye fire engine! Mummy likes fire engine. Noisy!
Sing to your children often. Most importantly, sing traditional music specifically written for children from their culture: nursery rhymes and lullabies. Their little ears are naturally tuned to those beautiful, complete melodies.
You can also add a movement aspect while singing: rocking to calm songs and jiggling along to boisterous ones. Babies learn to associate music with both calming and stimulating messages. Singing brings a feelings-expressive dimension to communication which speaking alone often cannot provide.
Physical development of the voice in infants
During infancy, the vocal structure begins to develop into a miniature version of the adult’s. While a newborn’s vocal tract is primed for survival, the child’s and adult’s is set up for speaking and running.
The infant’s larynx grows and descends lower down the trachea and the lungs grow comparatively larger to the digestive system. This gives them much more range and flexibility in the sounds they are able to make, though the adult setup won’t be complete until the age of eight or nine.
What your infant is practicing vocally
Speech to the infant is observed and copied rather than taught. Having been immersed in a speech environment from birth, they are able to observe the benefits of using speech in their world. Thus speech’s development is mainly driven by the frustration an infant feels in being unable to communicate.
At around six months, an infant will begin babbling simple consonant/vowel combinations. Amazingly, these speech fragments are always syllables and phonemes of the mother tongue: Italian babies will babble in Italian sounds, and Korean babies will babble in Korean sounds.
Infants' hearing and perception of music is also extremely sophisticated. By the age of six to ten months they are able to recognise familiar tunes and changes to them, even though they may be played in unfamiliar keys. They will also recognise songs heard in utero, though it may be months between hearings. They are also able to recognise simple rhythms and metres: for example a march versus a sway (duple and triple.)
Encouraging your infant’s voice
Some ideas for creating fun and positive vocal experiences with your infant:
Build a positive, child-centred learning environment. Try not to delegate the important task of learning to speak to a non-human voice such as a screen or recorded music, as it’s not as effective as face-to-face interaction. Positively praise your child when he vocalises. Particularly as speech is emerging, if mistakes are made, don’t criticise, rather offer the correct word or phrase at a later date.
Speak to your infant often, in person, about things familiar and close to them.
Explore language together. Enjoy creating funny expressions and nonsense phrases for just the two of you. This is a popular device used particularly in children’s books and entertainment. Enjoy playing with sounds and words as you speak about what you do. 'Sizzling sausages on the stove. Sizzle Sizzle SPLAT.
Physical development of the voice in toddlerhood
Toddler vocal development is a continuation of what has begun in infancy. As a toddler’s body size increases, so does, obviously the laryngeal size. Interestingly, up to this age, the tongue has been housed entirely within the mouth to enable nursing and breathing simultaneously. The back third of the tongue now descends into the pharynx, as well as a slight hardening of the vocal folds as the deeper muscle forms. This enables much more variety in speech resonation and articulation.
By age five, the basic adult configuration of the vocal tract is present, and will reach full size after puberty.
What your toddler is practicing vocally
While a yell is still able to make a statement, a toddler comes to realise around the age of three or four, that speech is necessary for survival: needs are met faster if they’re articulated.
A toddler’s first meaningful word usually appears at around one year of age, with three to ten single words hopefully available by the age of eighteen months.
At around age two, your child may use around fifty words, gradually forming into complete sentences. By three years, we may see the emergence of conversation, and vocabulary may exceed one thousand words!
During toddlerhood, music and singing becomes a part of play. Voiced sounds can accompany play with toys; chanting and songs become part of organised games with others.
Encouraging your toddler’s voice
Some ideas for helping your toddler find their voice
Practice patience in conversation. Allow your child to explore speech at toddler pace, not adult. As they become more conversational, the brain is working hard forming the neural pathways required for communication. They must firstly comprehend what you’ve said and form a reply in their own mind. Then they must physically speak by co-ordinating breath pressure, vocal apparatus and articulators. This takes time.
Try not to interrupt, walk away or finish their sentences. Maintain eye contact, listen and enjoy.
Encourage your child to use the voice creatively as they play. It could be singing to toys, creating vocal effects for vehicles and superheroes, animals and outer space. These nonsense noises are used a lot in formal training to build and strengthen a young voice, as well as to explore musical elements such as pitch, timbre and rhythm.
Singing stories. Sing the words to a favourite book rather than speaking them. Invent a simple two or three note melody. To start off, try the opening notes of the nursery rhyme It’s Raining It’s Pouring. You will notice that tune is also a familiar one in many children’s chants: 'I’m the king of the castle and you’re a dirty rascal! Nyah Nyah!!' In early music education, it’s the first interval we teach children to sing in tune, as it is so easily accessible.
Nursery rhymes and children’s songs. Nursery rhymes are full of expression and poetic devices just asking to be explored: rhyme, rhythm, stanza, refrain, alliteration, imagery and many others. Enjoy reading them aloud with plenty of gusto and fanfare, creating the voices and sound effects.
Move along to the rhythm of the words. Songs with actions have greater impact and memorability. Vocalise for fun, as well as for education.
A word of advice: if you want your child to speak (or sing) along with you easily, speak a little higher than you usually would. Their tiny vocal folds are only as large as their little fingernail. It is impossible for this little instrument to pitch too low!
Final word
My young screaming newborn is now Mister Two. It has been such a joy to watch him grow and piece together fragments of sentences, to sing mum’s songs to his toys sometimes weeks later, and imitate his dad’s heavy machinery sounds! As for that initial cry? Poor dear- he was hot!

MONSTA X as Best Friends
this is one of my lil’ au’s that i whipped up whilst i was away with no internet. i need to write more mx stuff(: i tried anyway - i hope y’all like it.

Shownu:
(boiii look at u w that bandana !)
biggest dad friend you'll ever have in your life
makes sure you're fed
gives you lifts whenever you need one
also makes sure you never have to walk on your own.-will fight a mean s/o who he may have had a bitter disliking to anyway bc it's you
basically is super protective of u
he is always v sleepy tho, esp if you're just chilling at your place.but you forgive him bc he's an overworked dad of 6
he is super down to earth and most chill human being in your lifehe is also super dependable, and is always there when you need him
he also gives the best hugs – they're rare but bOI are they worth it
is always awkward about you seeing him at shows or watching shows he's on bc he doesn't feel like he's a big idol, he's just your best friend
but you force him to tell you when he's doing anything so you can shout the loudest
most easily mistaken for your boyfriend
is a lil' bit dense at times, and is least likely to laugh @ your jokes
doesn't get sarcasm either
he's also clumsy
but apologetic, extremely apologetic
he can be a lil' blunt and straight forward at times but he's never as bad as the 'shownubot' he is v sensitive to your emotions, and is super caring
you also see the cute side of shownu
him beaming at small animals, when he talks about his fave food or his parents
again, far from the showminator everyone sees on variety shows
buuuuuuut he's v difficult to read, thanks to that beautiful but often blank face he has
you also get really flustered when he juST strips??? boicouldunotwearepalswthpls
you look at him awkwardly but he'll either not get it or be like “what? We are friends?”
and you remember your best friend is the most endearingly dad-like human in the world and nobody can change that
Wonho:
(a d o r a b l e)
I am convinced he will just giggle 24/7
ray of sunshine hoseok will just make you so energised and happy when he's in the same room as you
which makes you fiercely protective of him
you get to see his cute, bubbly side all of the time and it's literally a goddamn blessing
you guys just eat together
you'll deliberately plan on going to different restaurants or food places just so you can sample everything
but his eyes will always light up when you say “Ramen?”
like dad!sonhyunwoo, he is fairly shy about the stuff he does and is v bashful when you compliment his idol stuff
he'll shrug it off like its nothing and you'll be like “??? ur one of the most talented people ever you can literally fite me”
wonho and you could literally make anything fun, so hanging out w each other is never ever dull like, you'll create random dumb shit to do that only kids would think of and it would be great
but he's a really sensitive and sweet friend
he just gets you, and will immediately be on the same page as you w whatever you are feeling
he is so supportive and cares about you to the moon and back
it's bloody adorable literally treasure this man
like he will literally stay up to ridiculous hours in the morning to listen to you rant or console you
(my heart is melting whilst writing this send help)
but as we found out in the monsta x ray finale, boy needs that support since he spends all of his energy worrying about his pals and like how he gets you, you completely understand him it's weird, neither of you understand how you're in so in tune w one another
but it's great honestly a++ friendship
Minhyuk:
(y’all don’t even understand how much of a look the red hair was wOW)
most of the time he just ??? you can't explain him ???
he is one of the loudest, and goofiest people you know
when you guys go out together, ppl are stunned bc he's super handsome
but you know that he's not this super cool, standoffish model-type – he's an idiot
he sends you pictures of cute animals all the time
or he tags you in them on every social media possible
and you guys watch a lot of disney
w a perfect aladdin duet where minhyuk is jasmin (ofc)
lil' dumb things like that brighten your day
he just has a knack for cheering you up
and he just radiates kindness – he's just a sweetheart
but when you guys are together, the sheer amount of noise you guys make is incredible
you guys are literally tied at the hip
you do everything together, a lot of spontaneous stuff too
lots of random sleepovers where you stay up way too late
you hang out so much, that the rest of the mx are just used to having you around
like an 8th member tbh
it gets to a point where you guys miss each other like crazy when his schedule is packed
and the guys tease that you might as well go out
but it's fine, you've both talked and thought about it (midnight chats is all I can say)
but you both know that you're more like siblings
and that's chill
like wonho, he just gets you
he knows when your sad, and exactly what to do
he'll have some takeout on speed dial and a shoulder to cry on
he's actually one of the most attentive people
and sometimes it makes you sad when people just assume he's a shallow idol
but you're just happy to have him in your life.
Kihyun:
(his lil’ smile i swEAr)
he's so sassy w you
he's literally like a middle aged mum
yes, so he's often ruthless but he gives the best advice
someone treating you like shit? cut them out
it makes him incredibly reliable
he's always got your back and is ready to stand up for you
you guys wingman for each other too
you pretend to be in a relationship to fend off unwanted ppl in clubs
people think he's adorable but you know he's cut throat – and you love it
yet, there are instances where you catch him cooing at a baby or a dog
despite appearances, he would literally drop everything for you
he's loyal
if something has happened to you, he's right there if you're crying and listening intently
he genuinely wants to give you the best advice possible
he does love you, he just has v sarcastic ways of showing it
“i mean, if you were the last person on earth sure”
and you roll your eyes and just continue
probably will ask you weird questions at 3am
doesn't get that you not responding means stop so he keeps going
he has a ripe selection of mugshots of you and will utilize them
he's probably protective in a lowkey way, like he tries not to show it
he'll walk you home w the excuse “nothing else to do”
“for a sec, I almost thought u were showing affection!” and he'll scoff
you nod in mock acknowledgement but ofc you think it's really sweet beneath the unending sass you will tease him with predebut mx and it's rich
you always tell him you bias shownu just to irritate him
“he's not even that cute” he'll mutter bitterly
doesn't mean you won't have a funny picture of kihyun as your lock screen for months
Hyungwon:
(look at this dumb dork w his dumb ass smiley cute face what a dumb human)
one of your memeist friends
sends u dumb shit even if he's sat right next to you
also your laziest friend
if you guys arrange a time to meet, you always mentally add an extra 15 minutes
bc he's always late
he's also extremely sarcastic
even if it's just through an eye roll, he's a piece of shit
he's also a lil' awkward
you first met him through the rest of the guys, and he barely spoke
you just spotted a literal model on his phone in the corner
but as you were round there more, he let himself go
and came to know the lanky piece of shit u now tolerate
very much a love-hate friendship
from afar, it looks like you guys have no boundaries and you will say anything
but both of you just toss it aside w “character building” and you laugh sometimes he's sweet and it surprises you (like w the kids ep in monsta x-ray omg)
like he'll buy some food for a homeless man, or pull a funny face at a kid on the bus
and you tease him about it again, just character building;)
he's silently supportive
he's not great at the words and talking bit, but he's happy to just sit and listen
or he will instantly know what to do, and just order some food before you say anything
so you know ppl are wrong when they say he's just a lazy and standoffish idol
but he's extremely good looking and you had to learn to avoid stares when you guys go out together
he probably has a gift he bought you abroad from 2 years ago
says he'll give it to you, but still forgets
you really hope it's not candy that went off months ago
as much as you love your best friend, you don't want mouldy sweets
Jooheon:
(cutest cutie that ever cutied)
funniest
whether he's making you laugh or you're laughing at him - he's funny
you guys were definitely childhood friends
and everyone loves him
your close family always talks about him, asks about him
he's like a brother you never had (as cheesy as that is)
most friends drift apart, especially w his idol career
but - you guys are the definition of inseparable
you met bc someone was picking on you at nursery and baby jooheon intervened
and since then, you guys have never been a part
he is v protective
even little things like accompanying you home when it's late
any partner he has to meet just to make sure they're good enough for you
you sometimes have to tell him you're okay on your own
and he'll apologise, that he's just looking out for you
he doesn't mind you ringing him at early hours when something's on your mind
and the same with you
when you guys hang out, it's simple
going out for a drive and just watching the sun go down
you'll blast your favourite music and enjoy each other's company
cheesycheesycheesy
it's like something out of a movie
he'll sometimes even treat you – like take you out to dinner or something
to say thanks for being such a good friend all this time
you tell him he's cheesy, that it's not necessary
but he just blushes a little and says it's no big deal
he's the boy you'll mum will nudge and say “oh isn't he lovely”
you'll roll your eyes and say“he's just my best friend”
but you've thought about it, trust me he's definitely thought about it
who knows, all I can say is that it could happen
I.M
( i fell in love w changkyun while writing this i am such a sap )
you guys are like the chillest pair of best friends known
that's probably bc lil' changkyun is definitely more the introvert
he would much rather retreat to his studio to unwind than go out
which you're all for
you guys sit for hours in his mini studio
you listen to his stuff, and you just beam as he talks about his passion
it just fills you w joy when your best friend is so talented and you get to hear it
you do have to bring him out of his shell a little
bc this dorky, funny side comes out that has you cackling
you guys get food together mainly
and he loves it when you cook
you also feel it your duty to take care of this smol
feed him, look after him bc he's still your lil' maknae although nobody thinks he is
but it's not patronising, he's completely chill w it
the guys joke that he had/has a major crush on you
sometimes you question it, but he's like a younger brother to you
so you just throw something at minhyuk and jooheon to end the teasing
although changkyun always gets a tad shy when they mention it ??
there's never any arguments bc you guys are so alike
you have the same music taste, like the same foods, have the same opinions, watch the same tv shows and movies
it's really weird, but neither of you are complaining
makes life 10x easier !
he always feels super bad that he can't see you more
(which is v fucking cute fite me)
so he tries to plan these elaborate well thought out days for when he gets back
but he gets really bumbly and shy about it
bc it feels like a date but it isn't but he kinda hopes it is
so you guys always opt for a night long catch up w pizza
and you don't mind bc you're happy to see your fave human
i can assure you, so is he;)
hoped you guys enjooooyed! idk, this kind of helped me suss out their characters in my head a bit more - which is nice !! ty for reading <3

The best show I’ve ever seen: Lili La Scala, cabaret soprano and compere
We catch up with exquisite cabaret chanteuse Lili La Scala, who is fresh from hosting the main stage at Southampton Pride. Trained at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, she started out as a street entertainer and became known as The Songbird of Trafalgar Square and for blending opera and burlesque. She is the creator of the the massively successful Another Fucking Variety Show.
In the run-up to her appearance at the 8th Birthday show of the iconic Double R Club at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club in London, Lili chats to Liz Arratoon about what she’s been up to and the best show she’s ever seen.
The Widow Stanton: How was Pride? Lili La Scala: Oh, it was so glorious! All these amazing young gays, kind of not sure who they are or where they are or how they fit in. They’re all just sort of emerging from their chrysalises. It’s just beautiful; they’re all sort of glitter covered and it makes you wish that the world could be a better place for them and more accepting.
Had you done it before? No, but I’ve done quite a lot of gay clubs and a lot of drag nights and that sort of thing. That was the first time I got to do a Pride event [pictured below]. It’s quite an honour to be asked as someone who isn’t of the community but is an ally. It was a really lovely thing to be invited in.
We last chatted in 2010 about your solo show War Notes. What have you been up to since then… generally? [Laughs] [Laughs] I created another solo show – Songs to Make You Smile – and that’s been touring ever since and is still getting tour dates now; vintage songs but funny ones. War Notes was really emotional so it was nice to do something that was not emotional [laughs] and just really shallow. [Laughs] Then I decided that I wanted to do something that involved me having more people around so I created the variety show – Another Fucking Variety Show – and that’s been touring the whole time.
It’s been so successful… I’ve been really thrilled with how it has been received. It’s just been so great. I wanted to create an old-school variety show with, you know, bells and whistles, but not really bells and whistles, just good old-fashioned ‘you might see something you like, you might see something you don’t like but in five minutes there might be something else on that you will love’. That was my goal.
Edinburgh can be a really lonely place when you take a solo show there so I wanted to take something that actually involved me hanging out with people. That started a really great friendship with Tom Barnes, who is my MD and one of the most talented piano players I’ve come across. He’s wonderful. He’s a super-talented wünderkind composer, piano-player accompanist, and he’s a completely delightful person. We’ve been working on stuff together since 2012 and create new arrangements of old songs. Then I had a baby.
I know about your baby: Rafferty. Rafferty came long in 2013 and since then it’s really been ticking over with more of the same… compering other people’s variety shows… oh, and I created Siren, my other solo show, which was a collection of songs all about the sea.
Siren sounds wonderful… It’s about the sea and about lost love and the love affairs I’ve had in my life and how they’ve all ended tragically [laughs]. I created an album to go with that and I’m half-tempted to take that to Edinburgh next year. I was quite sad not to be there this year. I did pop up for one night to see some friends and saw Reuben Kaye’s first-ever solo show, which was sublime. I missed doing the variety show because I really enjoy the nuts and bolts of creating it, the programming, finding new acts and finding interesting things people might not have seen before… one year we had MisSa Blue, who did a rather fantastic wax-dripping act.
Wax-dripping! She burns her candles down really low and gets very naked, a lot naked, and ends up on her back with a firework between her legs. I think the audience and the venue staff were quite surprised cos Edinburgh venues aren’t huge; the stage is quite close to the front row, who I think got rather more than they bargained for. She’s wonderful. We’ve had lots of acts like that because I think it’s lovely to challenge an audience and maybe take them a little bit outside their comfort zone and then bring them back with some songs and some juggling.
Your look has change a few times, and now you have silver hair, which is marvellous. Luckily the joy of wigs is that I can change my look as I feel. I think the more outrageous the gig… dress for the gig you’re doing. If I’m doing a daytime vintage song show, then I won’t wear the silver wig, but if I’m doing gay Pride in Southampton, then hell yeah, wig up! For Edinburgh, purely out of necessity, it got to the point where I couldn’t set my hair every singe day. My hair was complaining, so the wig was great.
Tell us about your love of vintage and your exquisite costumes. I grew up watching the MGM movies and always wanted to look like an MGM starlet, the Greer Garsons of this world… the suits, the dresses, the gowns, and it wasn’t until I got to my twenties that I sort of developed the self-confidence to dress how I’d always wanted to dress. I discovered vintage and realised that actually there was a way to dress as though I were Jane Russell or Marilyn Monroe… Joan Crawford. I discovered American eBay, and this was back when the pound and the dollar weren’t quite so close, so shopping in America was so cheap. That was where it began and then it spiralled out of all control and [laughs] I ended up with more vintage suits than one person probably needs but I wear suits a lot and it’s a good thing.
Let’s talk about The Double R. Have you done it before? I have, twice before, with a song, a nine-minute version of Wreck of the Hesperus composed by Michael Roulston.
I don’t really think of you in that darker vein… Siren was darker, the songs are darker; generally when people write songs about the sea, they’re about death, so it’s a very emotional, dark show… as dark as I get, which isn’t terribly dark, but The Wreck of the Hesperus song… the poem is about a girl strapped to the mast of her father’s ship. He freezes to death and she drowns, so it’s quite tragic and that worked quite well at The Double R, and also it’s nine-minutes long. So it’s this really dramatic epic poem. It’s a story and Michael’s setting of it is so great that it was not a difficult feat to remember it. It’s an amazing composition and I’m always so thrilled when I get the chance to work with Michael because he is so inspiring and such a phenomenal composer; why use four chords when you can use 32?
What are you doing this time? I’m doing a world premiere for me, a song I’ve never done before. I’m singing the Polish Poem by David Lynch by special request from Rose Thorne, who created The Double R with Benjamin Louche. I looked it up and thought, ‘This is a really lovey song, I think I could do this’. I’m learning it at the moment and I think Tom Barnes is going to do a backing track for me.
So, have you managed to single out a best show? That’s so hard! I’ve seen a lot of shows that I love. Can I do sort of 20? [Laughs] I’m a huge fan of The Woman in Black [pictured above]. Massive spoiler alert! I’ve seen it sort of 20 times and it never fails to make me cry and scream. Last time I saw it I’d just had a baby so the loss of a child was a lot of rawer and I’m not sure I’ll be able to watch it again. Suddenly when you’re a mother, being separated from your child and your child dying and you’re watching your child drown, that wiped me out. But I’ve loved it; the story and the gothic realness of it, the feat of acting that it is to have just two people onstage and yet a cast of 20, the gobsmacking use of technology to create atmosphere. It’s an incredible piece of theatre, just an incredible piece of theatre.
Then the first time I ever saw Red Bastard… at Edinburgh or Adelaide… I was too scared to see him! I’d interviewed him but I was too scared to go to the show [Laughs] Honestly, he’s terrifying. It’s just amazing how he can make people do things and he creates a space in which anything can happen and he’s terrifying. People tell him things because he’s terrifying. The Secret Service should employ him cos [laughs] he just gets things out of people.
Did he pick on you? [Pause] … I had to put my hand up his arse. [Laughs]
Right up, like on that vet programme? Not up his actual… but up his suit. Yeah, it was… yeah. But he’s so wonderful. The creator of Red Bastard, Eric Davis, is such an awesome human being and such a creative and such a clown and it’s always fascinating to see what he comes up with. Another reason I’m sad I missed Edinburgh this year was that I would have loved to see his new show Lie With Me because I think it’s Red Bastard in a complete different tone, a different key, if you will. And I feel like I should mention a singer. I love everything Lady Rizo does; she’s got such a wonderful ability to just be a diva without any pretence or without any falseness. She has an authenticity about her, which is just so lovable. She can be imperious because I think divas should be imperious to a certain extent but she has such a warmth and such a joy, and again she has something of a Streisand clown about her. I loved her Edinburgh show last year, Multiplied, where she had her child onstage. It was beautiful, and her voice is so incredible. To see her evolution from maiden to mother has been amazing.
What happens to Rafferty when you’re working? It’s a massive juggling act. It’s really bloody hard! It’s a real challenge and I’m incredibly lucky that I have a really great support network from awesome friends to parents who literally deserve a Nobel prize. They have a creative daughter who has a career that doesn’t always pay and now she’s a single parent… but they’ve been incredible. It’s tricky but if you’re an artist you have to endure; you have to carry on and hope for the best.

Hiiii (can I call you mom? You seem every motherly I don't know, sorry 😂) soooo, I'm new and have confirmed that I like seventeen, but it's still kinda hard to know who's who, can you help me differentiate them pleaseeeeee
hello hello hello !!!!!!!! ejgwiesugfiuewsg you think im motherly????? im really not sgidhiuegsbuesb but sure thing ofc you can call me mom :’))) as long as you’re comfortable !!!!!!
awwwww im sosssoso happy to hear you slipped into the diamond life !!!!! i love my bbys seventeen sosososo much :”))) and dude i totally feel your struggle it took me ages to tell them all apart !!!! (it took me weeks just to tell mingyu and wonwoo apart rip)
i hope i can make this process a little easier for you!!
(all gifs and photos used are not mine, credit to the rightful owners!!)
okay so seventeen has like a million members (im kidding theyre 13 but when you first get into them it’s overwhelming to say the least)
i find it’s easiest to learn them by their units since it’s a clean and simple way to organize them !!!!!
we’ve got three units in seventeen: hip hop, vocal, and performance
each unit is responsible for a specific aspect, like the hip hop unit is in charge of writing the rap, the vocal unit writes their lyrics and woozi produces all their music, and lastly the performance unit creates all the choreography
(remember that this is completely my opinion and things that i have noticed that makes it easier to tell them apart. if i make any mistakes pls feel free to correct me!! i am in no way an expert!!!!!!!!!!!)
hip hop unit
(from left to right we have Wonwoo, Vernon, S,Coups, and Mingyu)
S.Coups
- he’s the leader
- he’s like a father figure to the others since he’s the oldest and the leader
- treats the other members like his children, he’s so protective of them
- actually one of my fav leaders in kpop tbh
- but anyways
- he’s the one usually being an embarrassment
- like he’s a mess
- an embarrassing dad basically
- he’s pretty easy to tell apart looks-wise
- but he has tiny ears ????? they’re so cute
- also his gummy smile saved my life
- he’s pretty built and the strongest in the group like w o w throw me off a cliff pls
- v v competitive like he does n o t want to lose
- would do anything for his members ;-;
i told you he was an embarrassment smh
can also be hot af
Wonwoo
- aka the loml
- he’s very quiet like hardly ever talks
- but when he does it’s most probably to tell a really bad pun or joke
- that only he’ll find funny
- claps like a damn seal when he laughs
- a lil weird
- likes to randomly burst into song for no reason whatsoever
- lowkey savage
- also emo
- his most distinctive feature is his eyes
- he says while they’re super cold and sharp-looking he’s actually really warm inside
- for real he may look super intimidating and scary, but trust me he’s the biggest dork i love him
- just wants to read his book in peace tbh
-he also wears glasses a lot !!!! and it kills me !!!!!!!!
- when he laughs his nose crinkles and it’s the cutest thing i cry
- sings sometimes and it makes me sob
- voice deeper than my love for him
look at the eyes !!!
did i mention im in love with his laugh :((
Mingyu
- he’s the tallest
- he’s also the visual like the other members say he’s the best looking (theyre all good looking tho so like wtf)
- has the most beautiful brown skin you will ever see like it g l o w s
- the best cook and cleans like hes lowkey a mom
- loves to eat pls feed him
- super caring and a total sweetheart always lowkey taking care of the others
- is super artistic and stuff like he created bongbong out of his bare hands and designed their latest album cover
- can be a mess sometimes
- okay all the time he’s the clumsiest someone help him
- always laughing and smiling what a joyful person :’)))
- he has long canines?????? and they’re beautiful ????????
- actually a model like w o w
- looks older than he actually is tbh
- also lowkey built bye
a r m s
look at that smile !!! and the canines !!
Vernon
- he’s half-white, so pretty easy to tell apart
- he doesn’t speak a lot either, but when he does he’s the biggest meme
- always lost in his own world tbh
- never knows whats going on
- pls protect him
- the others say hes like a mini leonardo dicaprio so there ya go
- visuals af tbh
- he’s usually the one people can tell apart first
- you can probably find him by his bf’s seungkwan’s side
- he was on show me the money so a lot of people recognize him from there
his smile is v v cute :’)))
look at those visuals !!!!!
and that concludes the hip hop unit !!!!!
we’re 1/3 of the way there…..
vocal unit
(from left to right we have DK (aka Dokyeom), Seungkwan, Woozi, Joshua, and Jeonghan)
Woozi
- leader of the vocal unit
- a musical genius w o w
- the tiniest
- deadass looks so smol and cute i cry
- but if you call him cute he’ll dropkick your ass
- a mini yoongi tbh (literally everyone call them father and son)
- is cute ???? but hates aegyo????? even tho he does it so naturally ?????
- the actual cutest okay
- usually has pastel coloured hair
- is shy af
- but also savage af
- don’t wake him up unless you have a death wish
- may look innocent and adorable but will be planning your death behind that sweet smile
- pretty easy to tell apart tbh
- just look for the smol one
the actual cutest o my god (he cringed so much im crying)
a baby!!!!! must protect!!
Jeonghan
- also pretty easy to tell apart
- h a i r
- had like super long hair and everyone mistook him as a girl rip
- but now it’s shorter (rip long hair you will be missed ;-;)
- is actually the most savage
- has everyone wrapped around his finger
- literally gets away with everything
- king of cheating and succeeding
- likes to call dino his baby
- l a z y a f
- hes the one that’s lying down 99% of the time
- the other 1% he’s trying to get out of doing work so he can lie down
- likes to mess with everyone
- an actual angel o my god
look how soft !!!
v i s u a l s (i miss his long hair ;-;)
Joshua
- a m e r i c a n
- ????? looks like a prince ?????? literally all of the time ????????
- like im not even kidding his visuals have me in awe
- like okay the one who blows you away by his royal looks yes thats joshua
- randomly says words in english (along with vernon)
- is super sweet and precious wow i dont deserve him
- also makes terrible jokes
- has the prettiest eyes
- will be extra sometimes
- calls himself a gentleman (he is)
- likes to rap but can’t for shit
- seriously is rhymes are the worst
- has a really really soft voice wow fit for the prince he is
- is a little awkward but it’s okay he’s still adorable
- will do pin drops like his life depends on it
okay so he has a lot of ear piercings that can tell him apart and im in love with his piercings ajkfeauwf
his visuals ?????? a prince ?????? i just gasped w o w
DK
- the human personification of sunshine
- loud af
- literally will never shut up
- but it’s all in good faith he just wants everyone to be as happy as him :)))
- always laughing
- will make himself a fool to make the others laugh
- he has a very prominent nose (if that makes sense????)
- kinda hard to miss since he’s always yelling
- vocal king
- like literally his vocals are out of this world
- has a very infectious smile that can cure cancer
- certified cutie patootie
a cute !!!!!!!!!! also look at that nose !!!!!!
when will his extra ass stop (im mingyu in the back with the mop)
Seungkwan
- human definition of extra
- s a s s to the m a x
- literally sass king
- booty so great kim kardashian is quivering
- never thought i’d say that sentence in my life
- wants to be a variety king and is doing a damn good job at it
- his reenactment of american movies when a tsunami hits is iconic pls watch it
- he has a really round face and chubby cheeks i wanna squish them :((
- cries a lot same
- literally scared of everything my poor boy
- he’s probably the one overreacting
- also never shuts up
- has incredible vocals too that kill me
i wanna pinch his cheeks :(((( i love my boy :(((
probably slaying everyone with those bomb ass vocals
that’s it for vocal unit!!!!
and last but not least…
performance unit
(from left to right we have: Jun, Dino, Hoshi, and The8)
Hoshi
- leader of the performance unit
- part of the extra squad that i totally made up on the spot rn
- but okay hes really extra too
- “naega hosh”
- super cute and funny i cannot believe
- he has eyes that are positioned at 10:10 on a clock and thats what he calls himself
- like his nickname is 10:10 bc of his eyes
- pretty iconic eyes tbh
- he looks super cute and adorable one second but the next he is ummmm a lil too sexy bye
- the duality of man is real within him
- he’s always super hyper
- his voice is really recognizable ????? at least for me ???? like it sounds so cute ??????
- aegyo is his middle name
- dancer extraordinaire
- a mess basically
look at this fucking tease bye
someone pls stop him
Jun
- underappreciated af
- chinese !!!!!!!!!!
- an actual visual god
- hardly speaks
- always in the background doing weird and questionable shit

Freder Seric introducing a brand new music video for single “Ocean.”
February 2020 - Freder Seric is an artist with a focus on creating music with an innovative spirit. His most recent release, Ocean, is a stunning example of his sonic vision and aesthetics. The song is based on a fat beat and some summery melodies that really match the title and the vibe of the song, with some cool soulful R&B influences, especially in the background vocals.
The single is a forward-thinking exploration of trap and modern rap, with stunning melodies and great production aesthetics that truly highlight the punch and width of this track. The mix is absolutely spotless, and it allows each element to sit seamlessly within its right place. The rhythm section is solid and fat, while the melodies are warm and present, without ever overpowering the vocals. Ocean has a really unique approach to its lyrical flow, going for a very direct and in-your-face approach while retaining a strong character and a very distinctive personality. His beats are massive, with some killer 808-type beats and lush reverberated melodies, reminding of some of the greats on the modern scene. With fat bass tones and banging bass synths, “Ocean” is a true banger with a hard-hitting sound. Freder has a melodic sound, and his voice is very versatile. He is one of those rare talents who can rap, as well as sing, often switching between savage lyrical flows and beautiful melodic hooks that bring the songs someplace else. With every track, he explores some different ideas, be it some personal lyrics or some raw beats that are meant to be blasted out as loud as possible. He is the quintessential modern rapper, and he reminds of modern greats such as Ski Mask The Slump God, or Juice WRLD, and of course, legends like XXXTENTACION, Mac Miller, D’Angelo, and Lil Uzi Vert, only to mention a few.
In addition to the personable and edgy performance value, this release is also quite distinctive because of the sheer quality of the production. The mix is balanced and very detail-oriented, making for a lively, edgy and stark sonic approach. In other words, there are many subtle nuances in this release, which really add to the richness of the track when summed up together. The frequency spectrum of the mix is also very balanced, with a tight, yet deep low end working wonders along with a smooth top end, which adds a sense of clarity to the music. For this reason, Ocean stands out for its modern sound, but although the production is quite polished, it is never overproduced, allowing a lot of wonderfully organic and “human” elements to really add liveliness to the mix. This is the kind of track that will surprise you for it sonic variety, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat due to its catchy, yet unpredictable arrangement. I always love to hear from artists who set the bar higher and push the envelope when it comes to their productions: this certainly appears to be the case!
It’s going to be a little while before we can busk in the summer sun again (well, at least this side of the world!), but this song is already making me long for days at the beach, chilling by the ocean and simply having a good time out without having to wear several layers of winter clothing. I know I am going to spin this baby when the summer season comes, and include it in my cruising-by-the-water playlist already now in preparation for the good summer days! Having said that, you don’t need to wait for the summer days in order to enjoy this track, because Ocean is a banger and it will immediately make an impact due to its melodic and one-of-a-kind flow.
Ultimately, Freder Seric is not afraid to push it to the limit when needed, but he also understands that at times, taking a step back is the best way to let the song breathe. Find out more about this rap artist, and do not miss out on Ocean and other releases, events, and activities from him.

Holistic Heights
“As the great grandchild of an Indigenous Healer from the Island of Grenada, I could not escape my roots. Working in Corporate America for many years, I began to see colleagues grow sick, many even passing at a young age. I had become overwhelmed by the need to liberate myself and my loved ones from a modernity that denies an age old tradition of healthy lifestyle. On September 11th, 2001, I was pregnant with my first child, working near The World Trade Center / “Twin Towers”. When Tower One collapsed, I ran for my life, and it feels like I’ve been running ever since; running from illness and the general decay that can get the better of us when we fail to equate happiness with healthiness. After 9/11 my son and I developed severe cases of asthma and eczema. The idea of becoming a guinea pig for allopathic treatment was out of the question. I was determined to heal the bodies of my son and I naturally. This was my mission as well as the birth of Holistic Heights!
I received my professional training as a Holistic Health Practitioner from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program, as well as Teachers College, Columbia University.
During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Iyanla Vanzant, one of America’s most profound spiritual leaders and acclaimed empowerment legends; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
My journey in wellness led me to further advance myself in various holistic methods of healing. Realizing healing manifests in many forms, I later became a Reiki Practitioner, Reflexologist, Aromatherapist, Iridologist and Yoni Steam Spa & Yoga Practitioner. I am grateful for the opportunity to have met and studied under some of the best healers of our day, including Dr. Laila Afrika, world renowned physician, researcher, author and healer; Dr. Akua, naturopath, spiritualist and master teacher, International Operations Director for A Life of Peace Wellness Institute, Inc., an international holistic health education and wellness non-profit organization, Queen Esther Hydrotherapist & Nutritionist of Queen Esther’s Holistic Haven LLC in Brooklyn, NY. Master Reflexologist & Healer, Dr. El Ha Gahn; Sister Maa and Dr Sebi, world renowned healers and founders of The Fig Tree, The USHA Healing Village in Honduras, and The Electric Cell Food; Elder Mr. Hooker, Intuitive Energy Healer and Wellness Instructor; Dr. Paul Goss, Master Iridologist and best selling author; Sat-Ra Sobukwe SoDaye, Kemetic Reiki Master and Founder of the Yoni Steam Institute, & LIFE the most important, influential instructor of all.
My education and intuitive abilities has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, energy healing and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of living a holistic lifestyle, I work with my clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results. My passion lies in educating, empowering and connecting one to their body’s innate ability to heal itself. It is our birthright.
Come join me…
My Approach
*A different approach
I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to over eat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.
A health coach (or health counselor) is a wellness guide and supportive mentor. Together, we will work to achieve your goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, food cravings, sleep and energy. Through working with me, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the foods and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.
*Bio-individuality
The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has her or his own food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and thats why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I will support you in making positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, personal preferences, and background. Instead of prescribing one fix for all people, I use a personalized, holistic approach that is based on your needs.
*Everything is food
We are not only fed by food, but by other factors in our lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual practice are essential forms of nourishment. When these primary foods are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary.”
Support these black-owned businesses and creatives!

Ten Things You Should Know About Having a C-Section
It’s probably not news to you that there are only two ways for a baby to make its entrance into the world – either via your vajay, or Caesarean Section/C-Section. Although a C-Section is considered major surgery and may seem daunting, it isn’t necessarily the awful experience its often made out to be, especially if you’ve got a better understanding of what it actually entails. So, rather than having you consult your Aunt Sally who delights in sharing birth stories that’ll make your toenails curl, we’ve put together a list of ten things you should know about having a C-Section to put your pregnant mind at ease.
What is a C-Section, exactly?
A C-Section is different from a vaginal birth in that the baby is surgically removed from the mother’s uterus through a (surprisingly small) incision. The incision is typically horizontal and low enough on the abdomen that it can be covered up by your bikini bottoms, although you won’t be allowed to hit the pool for at least 6 weeks following your surgery. Sometimes a C-Section occurs in the case of an emergency, and other times a mother may elect to have a C-Section.
MY LATEST VIDEOS
Why might I need to have a C-Section?
A C-Section may be planned ahead of time for a variety of reasons including the following:
The mother is carrying multiple babies.
The baby is a future acrobat and has settled in a breech or transverse position.
The mother’s placenta covers the opening of her cervix (placenta previa).
The mother has had a previous C-Section and does not want to or cannot have a vaginal birth (also referred to as VBAC).
The mother has a health concern that may make vaginal childbirth difficult or dangerous.
A C-Section may be the only option and occur as an emergency for reasons such as the following:
The baby’s heart rate is dropping or he is otherwise in distress.
The umbilical cord exits the cervix ahead of the baby.
There is failure to progress during labor.
What is the difference between emergency, elected and “gentle” C-Sections?
Mothers who have experienced C-Section in both an emergency and an elected situation will tell you that the two experiences are quite different.
In an emergency situation, everything moves quickly – you are whisked away to an operating room, where doctors, nurses and an anesthesiologist will work to remove the baby as fast as possible. You may not have the opportunity to ask questions or see what is going on. Chances are, you will have already spent time experiencing labor and be very tired, meaning you will basically be struggling to keep two eyes open at a time once the baby arrives. Depending on the condition of your baby, you may or may not be able to have skin to skin contact, nurse, or make special requests such as delayed cord clamping immediately following the birth.
In an elected C-Section, you and your doctor will be able to monitor your pregnancy and decide on a date to have the surgery performed, which means, essentially, you will get to choose your child’s birthday. It is common for this date to be around the 39 week mark so you don’t go into labor first. Know that, because you have elected to have this surgery, any emergencies that come into the hospital prior to your surgery will bump you later in the day. The pace is much slower than in an emergency situation. You’ll probably be starving from fasting the night before, and the ice chips or soup broth they offer you post op won’t do much to hit the spot.
A “Gentle C-Section” is basically a more personalized elected C-Section. This procedure costs the same as a regular C-Section and only takes about 5 minutes longer. You may be able to choose the music being played in the operating room, be able to request the lowering of the screen so you can see what’s going on, talk with the surgical team, and ask questions about the procedure. The baby will be delivered head first, followed by the body, creating a birth that’s more like a vaginal birth. Following the birth of the baby, skin to skin contact and breastfeeding are encouraged.
In all three scenarios, hospital policy will determine whether you are able to have a support person with you during the surgery.
How can I prepare for a C-Section?
Maybe the most important thing you can do to prepare yourself for a C-Section is to acknowledge the fact that you might need to have one. C-Sections account for about 30% of all births in the U.S., which means you have about a 1 in 3 chance of having one. Talk to your doctor about what this might look like for you, and ask any questions about the process you may have. Have a birth plan, but don’t get so attached to the idea of everything happening exactly as you hope, to avoid feelings of guilt, anger, or sadness if it doesn’t.
If you have elected to have a C-Section, it’s not a bad idea to make meals ahead of time and freeze them so you don’t have to cook (good news: having a C-Section gives you the absolute best excuse to get out of any and all household chores). In the hours (or even days) prior to the surgery, you may want to eat “lighter” foods to give your digestive system a break, as the surgery will slow down your intestines, and post-delivery constipation is NO JOKE. Trust me on that one.
What happens during a C-Section?
More than likely, you will be given a spinal block or epidural and will be awake during the surgery. When I had my C-Section, the nurse who put in my IV prior to the surgery promised me that it would be the most painful part of the entire process, and I actually found this to be true (good news: it hardly hurt at all!)
You will be numb from the waist down and may feel some tugging and jostling, but apart from that, you will have no feeling during the surgery and for a few hours afterward. You will have a catheter inserted as well, but it’s likely that this will be happening behind the big blue curtain that they put up just over your waist, so you can’t see a dang thing. If they are allowed in. your support person will sit by your head and be able to hold your hand during the process. If you’re like me, you may quietly request that your support person ask the surgeon to give you a tummy tuck when they’re finished, but if you are also like me, they will say no.
As long as there are no complications, you can expect to be seeing your newborn raised overhead, Simba-style in 30 to 45 minutes.
What happens during recovery from a C-Section and how long will it take?
Shortly after you come out of surgery, it’s common to feel cold and to get the shakes.
You will be given medication to help with the pain. It’s important to remember that the medications you receive can be constipating, so drink plenty of fluids to help prevent this. You will also be offered stool softeners, and it’s highly recommended that you abandon any pride at this point and accept them graciously. You might be surprised at how soon a nurse will have you up and walking. As painful as it sounds, the most difficult part of the whole thing will probably be trying to navigate your way around while attached to an IV and a catheter. Oh, and be warned: the first time you stand up, there will be blood. Probably a lot of it. This is when those sexy maternity undies come in verrrry handy.
You will either have stitches or staples closing your wound. If you have dissolvable stitches, they will disappear on their own, but if you have staples, you will have to have them removed after a few days.
Keep wearing your maternity pants or other loose fitting clothing to avoid rubbing your incision.
Coughing, sneezing and laughing may be tricky while recovering from abdominal surgery, so you may find it handy to cover your incision with a pillow if you feel the urge to do any of the above.
The recovery time for a C-Section is typically 6-8 weeks, but of course, every person is different.
What will I be unable to do while recovering from a C-Section?
A few of the things you should avoid doing for at least 6 weeks include the following:
Driving (this is probably the trickiest one to avoid)
Vacuuming (this is probably the easiest one to avoid)
Lifting anything heavier than your baby in its car seat (this includes toddlers, so in the weeks prior to your surgery, it may be a good idea to get them used to the idea of not being picked up or carried)
Swimming or baths
Strenuous exercise
Intercourse (although you may think that things down there are intact and good to go, you are still healing from major surgery and are more prone to infection, so you’ll just have to Netflix without the chill for a while).
Can I ask for a C-Section instead of having a vaginal birth?
You sure can, but your doc probably has the final say. If you have had a previous C-Section or have health concerns, your doctor will be more likely to grant your request, as many hold the belief that C-Sections should be avoided where possible.
What are the possible side effects of a C-Section?
As with any surgery, side effects can occur. Bleeding, infection, blood clots and surgical injury are side effects that some women have experienced.
As the body heals from surgery, strands of collagen can form, creating adhesions. This can cause discomfort and make future deliveries more difficult. For this reason, women who want to have large families are recommended not to have multiple C-Sections.
Repeated C-Sections can lead to a higher risk of Placenta Previa and Placenta Accreta.
There can be a risk of uterine rupture along the line of the incision, particularly if you decide to attempt a VBAC, but your doctor will be able to help you decide if this is a safe option for you in future pregnancies.
Should I feel guilty for having a C-Section?
In a word, no. In two words, hell no. Growing a human being and bringing them into the world is no easy feat, regardless of how you do it. Your birth story is an incredible, beautiful one and, as a bonus, your baby will have the roundest head of at least 2/3 of his newborn friends.

Also on the 2018-2019 slate is the 2017 Tony Award-winning Best Revival of a Musical Hello, Dolly! along with productions of The Play That Goes Wrong, A Bronx Tale, Anastasia and Come From Away. The series also includes a yet-to-be-determined production in the Straz Center’s intimate Jaeb Theater.
In addition to the eight-show Broadway series and back by popular demand, Les Misérables will return for a limited engagement.
“Each season we bring the best of Broadway to Tampa, and every so often we land a season like this one: perfect in every way,” said Judy Lisi, president and CEO of the Straz Center. From Hello, Dolly! to Hamilton, we have a classic of the Golden Age and the most extraordinary musicals onstage now—including Come From Away, a heroic look at a remote hamlet who welcomed the majority of re-routed planes on 9/11 and Dear Evan Hansen, the phenomenon that won the 2017 Tony for Best Musical. Our capstone this season is, of course Hamilton, which will be an experience for the ages.”
The season features:
THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG
Oct. 16-21, 2018
What would happen if Sherlock Holmes and Monty Python had an illegitimate Broadway baby? You’d get The Play That Goes Wrong, Broadway and London’s award-winning smash comedy! Called “a gut-busting hit” (The New York Times) and “the funniest play Broadway has ever seen” (HuffPost), this classic murder mystery is chock-full of mishaps and madcap mania delivering “a riotous explosion of comedy” (Daily Beast). Welcome to opening night of The Murder at Haversham Manor where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. With an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines), it’s “tons of fun for all ages” (HuffPost) and “comic gold” (Variety) – sure to bring down the house!
Hello, Dolly!
Dec. 4-9, 2018
Winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, Broadway’s most beloved musical is back where it belongs! Directed by Tony winner Jerry Zaks and featuring choreography by Tony winner Warren Carlyle, Hello, Dolly! is “the best show of the year” (NPR). Breaking box office records week after week and receiving thunderous critical raves on Broadway, this “gorgeous” new production (Vogue) pays tribute to the original work of legendary director/choreographer Gower Champion – hailed both then and now as one of the greatest stagings in musical theater history. Rolling Stone calls it “a must-see event. A musical comedy dream. If you’re lucky enough to score a ticket, you’ll be seeing something historic. Wow, wow, wow indeed!”
A Bronx Tale
Jan. 29-Feb. 3, 2019
Broadway’s hit crowd-pleaser takes you to the stoops of the Bronx in the 1960s where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he’d love to be.
Bursting with high-energy dance numbers and original doo-wop tunes from the songwriter of Beauty and the Beast, A Bronx Tale is an unforgettable story of loyalty and family.
Academy Award winner Robert De Niro and Tony winner Jerry Zaks direct this streetwise musical – based on Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri’s story that The New York Times hails as “A Critics’ Pick! The kind of tale that makes you laugh and cry.”
Hamilton
Feb. 12-March 10, 2019
Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway, Hamilton is the story of America then, as told by America now.
With book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
Dear Evan Hansen
April 9-14, 2019
Winner of six 2017 Tony Awards including Best Musical!
A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he’s always wanted: a chance to finally fit in. Dear Evan Hansen is the deeply personal and profoundly contemporary musical about life and the way we live it.
“One of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history,” says The Washington Post. Rolling Stone calls Dear Evan Hansen, “a game-changer that hits you like a shot in the heart” and NBC News calls the musical “an inspiring anthem resonating on Broadway and beyond.”
Dear Evan Hansen features a book by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson, a score by Grammy, Tony and Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman), and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal).
The original Broadway cast recording of Dear Evan Hansen, produced by Atlantic Records, made an extraordinary debut at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 – the highest charting debut position for an original cast album since 1961 – and went on to win the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. A special edition coffee table book authored by Levenson, Pasek and Paul, Dear Evan Hansen: through the window (Grand Central Publishing/Melcher) is now available, offering an in-depth, all-access look at the musical, including never-before-seen production photos and cast portraits, behind-the-scenes stories, and a fully annotated script by the authors.

Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.
Anastasia features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a lush new score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) with direction by Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak.
Come From Away
June 4-9, 2019
The true story of the small town that welcomed the world.
The New York Times Critics’ Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.
Don’t miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by 2017’s Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Newsweek cheers, “It takes you to a place you never want to leave!”
On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all.
