penny is my first tav and i love her. she's a white dragonborn circle of the spores druid. i finished her first playthrough a couple weeks back, and i've started on a second playthrough with her! slightly edited, and now that i understand more about the game and the story i'm refining her character and story. i missed a lot of stuff on that first playthrough!

pennybun's name comes from the mushroom, by the way. i'd decided on that before i knew that there was a mushroom-themed druid circle in this game, i was GOING to choose moon, but, like. it's perfect. penny buns aka porcini aka king bolete aka Boletus edulis are an edible mushroom that symbioses with the roots of pine trees. they're part of my research and they're quite adorable

she's from a circle of druids located in the shelterwood- a dense forest near baldur's gate. she grew up in the city proper- or at least, on the edges of it- before moving out to the woods to pursue life as a druid.

she's solidly good-aligned- as my first playthrough, her story is kind of the best-case-scenario for everything, savescumming the hell out of some fights (good god the last light fight with marcus). everybody gets their good ending, everybody gets saved, that kind of deal.

she had a generally good relationship with everyone in the party, but gale, wyll, and karlach are her best mates for sure. i missed out on romancing karlach the first go around, but we're doing it on penny's second save file. it's happening.

she's also quite close with shadowheart, especially after the events of act ii. her relationship with lae'zel is more tense.. but i'm still working on figuring out that exact trajectory- missing a lot of lae'zel's storyline was one of the biggest mistakes i made in the first go-around. she and astarion never get close, but there's not any malice there, either.

she's good friends with jaheira, the two get along like a house on fire, and she looks up to jaheira a lot. she didn't have a lot of time to get to know minsc and boo, but they were plenty friendly in the short time they crossed paths. halsin, i need to work on, i also kind of fucked up his stuff first go-around by neglecting to fix the shadowlands. to be updated when i reach act ii in Penny The Sequel.

overall, penny's a big ol goody-two-shoes. she wants to help as many people as she possibly can, and feels a massive weight on her shoulders because of it, having been thrust into this leadership role by apparent pure chance.

while i'm still working it out, the central theme of pennybun's story is trust, and who she puts it in. an early decision i made before knowing anything about the story was that penny trusts the Mysterious Dream Guardian completely and totally, which made for some EXTREMELY fun character moments later on- utilizing the tadpoles (her and gale both), becoming partial illithid, and eventually in act 3 losing her trust in and culminating with her turning on the emperor, plus her own ceremorphosis to wield the netherstones against the netherbrain.

gear-wise, she uses the default druid armor for most of the game, switching to the armor of the sporekeeper in act 3. she assembles the mourning frost in the underdark in act 1 and it remains her favored weapon for the rest of the game. she also wears the key of the ancients, and just before the start of the finale gains the nymph cloak.

other assorted Penny Facts:

she keeps a detailed log of every camp dinner the group has. good food is very important

she has a soft spot for parasites. part of why she was receptive to the idea of utilizing the tadpoles, and also part of why she lets astarion take a bite from time to time.

she got her eye poked out by volo

she has a -1 int modifier

she's a lot keener on necromancy than you might expect a druid to be. she views necromancy and the undead (for the most part) as a natural part of the cycle of life- after all, everything will eventually return to the dirt to be eaten by the fungi and the other decomposers, no matter how prolonged it is.

it is imperative that all her friends (karlach excluded for reason of cool hair) wear fun hats. ive posted about The Hat Tax before but everyone in the party gets a funny hat. it's so important.

You thought I only had 2 Tavs? With more than 800 hours in the game it could hardly be true! Today I'll tell you about my Dark Urge character. Also romancing Gale, as usual.

Kitani Kuoroa

SPOILERS FOR DARK URGE AHEAD! Therefore everything else is under the cut.

I'll start with how I created this character. I played Gale origin run when an idea came to my head. What if, I thought, a necromancer wizard romanced Gale? At first I pictured and created her as Tav called Mirana. That's how she looked like:

She already was a human necromancer wizard in her 30s, but I started an Honour run with her and failed to get past the owlbear.

Next time I created her I thought she should be a Dark Urge character, because necromancy fits the Chosen of the god of Murder (I'd already known this spoiler).

So I made Mirana anew in Tactician mode:

But the game bugged. The short folk eerily changed their form in front of me, and some models didn't load at all. So I started everything anew.

That's how I came to play as Kitani (or Tani, as Gale calls her).

My goth girl, with black lipstick, a beholder tattoo on her neck and murderous thoughts in her mind. She was born to a family of a fisherman, showing her talent for magic early on.

The only person the family managed to find as a wizard tutor was a drow necromancer Corinna. So Kitani spent her youth between studying necromancy and having dreams of murder.

When Bhaal revealed himself to his daughter, she cheerfully welcomed him. She started experimenting on corpses she and her "sister" left after their rituals. At one point an ambitious man appeared at the doorstep of the Bhaal temple. He immediately recognised Kitani as the more talented of the siblings. It was Enver Gortash, who talked Kitani into the plan to rule the world. Their romance started not long after. It was dangerous and passionate. (I even imagine they had a child at one point).

But both Gortash and Orin betrayed Kitani. The latter put the tadpole inside her "sister's" head and made sure Kitani wouldn't remember anything.

That's how the necromancer found herself on a burning nautiloid. She remembered two things – her name and her wizard mastery. She didn't even remember her child.

And the first day after she found herself on a ravaged beach she met the person who showed her how she can live without murder and violence. She met Gale. Every time she had a murderous thought she looked at her colleague and his warm smile. Of course they had evocation/necromancy quarrels, but they both liked it.

Anyway, Kitani resisted the Urge till the end (all for her new love), defeated the brain and moved to Waterdeep with her fiancee and child. Gale gladly agreed to adopt Kitani's daughter from Gortash.

Thinking about what Vissenta would be like as an origin companion rather than a Durge.

She would be a paladin, sworn to Kelemvor as a Doomguide. The party would find her behind the locked door in the crypt; she’d be ready to fight to keep you from looting a tomb, but then the tadpole connection would take over and she’d see that there’s bigger problems you can deal with if you team up. Her approval would follow a lot of the same good-aligned approval events, with extra points given for things like paying respects to the dead and destroying the Necromancy of Thay. Her demeanor is closed off at first, but she gradually opens up, and you learn of her personal quest line to fight a rumored apostle of Myrkul in Moonrise Towers. (This expands, of course, into fighting the combined powers of the Dead Three.) When played as an origin, she’d have special dialogue options when speaking to Withers. Tiefling party would see her getting flirty after some wine, and there would be a cute sword fight scene where she tips your chin up with the tip of her sword.

Unfortunately, lots of people would find her off-putting, and several would not be able to keep her in the party once Astarion’s vampirism is revealed. You have to either dismiss Astarion, kill him, or pass a DC15 persuasion check to keep Vissenta. It’s a shame; her act 3 romance scene would be a lovely moonlit confession inside of Stormshore Tabernacle after the Open Hand Temple murder quest - which would involve a scene where she reunites with her adoptive father, Reynaud, a cleric of Kelemvor and gravekeeper for the temple - has been wrapped up and you’ve entered the lower city, where she talks of how duty kept her from embracing vulnerability, but you’ve shown her the strength of it, and how life is more than just a duty to death. And then she rails you over an altar.

Eventually, Larian would patch out the persuasion check in act 1 and file off her rougher edges to also make her more palatable to the gamer dudes who think she’s hot but too self-righteous.

i am SO curious about what horrors saffron went through-- the post you made abt your first and most recent drawing of him is so intriguing esp bc i keep seeing the progression on my timeline

(idk if you've already talked about saffron's story, so sorry if you have! and no worries about answering if it's a personal oc story you dont want to share beyond what you already have with your art!)

Oh I can go ahead and share no problem!

Back when we first started the campaign, Saffron was an archfey warlock under Titania of the summer court which is why his powers were so nature oriented. He was also a joke character who followed the “flirty asshole tiefling” archtype which lasted like 1 and a half sessions. Most of his plot in the 1st and 2nd arc was him realizing and struggling through the abuse Titania put on him, ESPECIALLY in arc 2 where she started fucking with his magic. On top of this we have the party dynamic- almost constantly falling apart and getting into disagreements once we hit end of the 1st arc. During that he was also being forced by Titania to collect info on the magic users to use against them. Finally there’s Klaus- an Owlin barbarian who Saffron feels extremely close to who kept throwing himself in danger, often times for Saffron’s sake, and refusing Saffron’s claims that he wasn’t a monster and to stop. All together a fairly rough time.

What started the spore bit was a deal he made with a nothic, who agreed to give him info on his past (he’s got amnesia due to the unknown amount of time in he spent in the feywild) in exchange for some of his magic. It almost killed him but he made it, got some fairly useless info and a black streak in his hair. Later the next day he had a lovely encounter with Titania which resulted in him getting his magic snatched for a bit and revealed their dynamic to the rest of the party (I’ve been posting this sketch from that scene a lot but I don’t think I ever put an explanation around it)

Cut forward to last session. Saffron had talked to the Mother of Rot earlier when he had accidentally caused a tree to rot, and Klaus had attacked a fellow party member due to hallucinations. I failed a wisdom saving throw and got Saffron locked in a partially Titania-induced mindset and he was headed out to talk to her, saw Klaus, and they got into quite possibly the worst argument anyone in the party has had yet. Failed another wisdom saving throw and Saffron attacked him. Titania ended the fight by burning Klaus’ back off and Klaus subsequently stabbing her, Saffron snapped out of the mindset and used his silly little rot powers to keep her from healing. Their connection was severed and the contract was broken.

To sum it up- he’s lost all his previous powers aka the thing that Titania did to remind him he’s useless without them, he’s lost the 2 people he’s every loved romantically (Titania’s hunting him for sport, Klaus hates his guts and is romancing another Owlin), his memories are starting to come back in the worst ways, he’s despised by 3/4ths of the team, one of his major character points is his fear of death and he’s got a NECROMANCY CLASS, he is under the power of yet another big magic lady bc his new ties to the unseelie court which he’s always known as evil, and, like previously stated, he’s being hunted for sport by his ex who is considered the most powerful being in the Summer Court.

Chapter 2 and 3 of Gideon the Ninth:

Gideon: 0

Are we supposed to be rooting for Harrow? I am rooting for Harrow. No shade to Gideon, she is easy to empathize with and morally in the right, and much funnier, but watching Gideon successfully run away to be in the military sounds hella boring while watching Harrow outsmart Gideon in the most dramatic way possible is Quality Entertainment

Like, she knew Gideon was escaping a week ahead of time. She could have put a stop to it with absolutely minimal drama, but instead she waited until the last day and spent all night burying bones so that she could stop it with a cool necromancy thing instead. And even then, she didn't have to do the whole thing of making Gideon an offer she couldn't refuse, and then being like "fight me bitch", she could have literally just showed up and necromanced all of the skeletons to beat up Gideon without actually making a show of it, but instead she played out this whole drama just to fuck with Gideon

This is some Homestuck-style epic black romance shit right here

On the subject of the actual plot, this seems to be the timeline:

16 years ago: 198 children and I gather also a lot of the non-imprisoned population of Pluto go missing, or die, or something, for some reason

7 years ago: Harrow's parents kill themselves, are found by Gideon, and Harrow reanimates them weekend-at-Bernie's style

and it's the latter and not the former that is the Dreadful Secret that Harrow doesn't want Gideon to tell anyone about. In an ordinary feudalism context, since Harrow is the heir, there'd be no real issue with 10-year-old Harrow taking over after the deaths of her parents, modulo a regency. But it seems like the people who would have been in a position to be the regent went along with Harrow's plan and helped her cover it up, so there must have been some other reason why this would be Bad for Harrow (or just Bad for everyone?) if someone found out about it, but so far there's been very little information on how shit works in this system, so I can't really guess what that might have been. And I still want to know what happened 16 years ago

(I don't know why I didn't expect some Weekend at Bernie's shenanigans, given that this book combines necromancy and Space Feudalism, that just seems like the natural intersection of those two ideas, really. Even the Golden Key did that, and that book wasn't even about necromancy.)

I'm also not sure why all of the other people in the Ninth House think Harrow's news is great? It doesn't seem like it really affects anyone except Harrow, Ortus, and his mom, unless they all also just really hate Harrow, but I don't get the feeling that that is the case. I wish Gideon would like, stop being a dumb jock for five minutes and devote some narrative to telling me what the actual political significance of all of these events are

They have a number of romantic moments throughout the TNG series from arguably the first but DEFINITELY the second episode. but they only get together (briefly before divorcing) in an alternate timeline episode which is also the season finale. Also they have a kid together in Picard but are still not allowed to be together She was married to his best friend and he was in love with her but wouldn’t say anything because he wouldn’t want to damage his bestie’s marriage and then his friend died and they met again years later and shared a lot of romantic and sexual tension for years. He openly admitted (under mind reading) that he had loved her since his bestie was alive but felt he couldn’t act on it. In an alternate future they got married. In the canon future they got together and broke up repeatedly because trauma makes relationships hard sometimes and they have a kid together who is named after the aforementioned bestie. An episode forcing them to share thoughts makes him openly admit that he loves her and has loved her for years even when she was married to his best friend.

kit herondale and livvy blackthorn:

They were literally straight bait. So Kit, Livvy and Livvy’s twin brother Ty were a trio with their own side plots in TDA. And well. We literally meet Kit when Ty breaks into his house and puts a knife to his throat and Kit gets distracted by Ty’s eyes. Then later Kit and Livvy have a few moments and kiss once. Then Livvy dies. There are some necromancy shenanigans. Kit confesses his love to Ty then immediately flees the country. Like Kit/Ty was clearly endgame from the start but Livvy and Kit just made out once.

galo and aina (submitted as lio and galo):

Iirc, the whole time the audience was set up to believe that Galo will get together with a teammate named Aina (i might be completely wrong but i think she showed romantic interest in him). That's what usually happens, anyways. However, studio trigger turned that premise on its head with Galo's budding relationship with Lio. In order to save Lio, Galo kissed him. They kissed.

jeff winger and britta perry:

the show starts off with jeff creating the study group so that he can get with britta, they serve essentially as narrative foils, with jeff not caring about people and britta caring too much about people, they nearly get married on THREE (3) separate occasions, they're secret friends with benefits for an entire season but break up when the group finds out, they're the only two people from the core group left in greendale when the show ends; but in the end they make jeff's "true love interest" the girl who was half his age when the show started (36/18)...

angel and cordelia chase:

They met as characters on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but their dynamic doesn't take off until the Angel spinoff Because the showrunners of Angel didn't go in with the idea of putting these two together, the characters' friendship was allowed to develop organically without the assumption of romance, which then made the realization of their feelings for each other more satisfying. Unfortunately the shadow of Bangel (Buffy x Angel) still held over Angel's character, so I think it was a hard sell at the time and didn't gain a lot of popularity in the years since. Both these two characters grew alongside each other, supported each other, and despite knowing that they loved each other, let each other go to pursue their destinies. A really underrated het pairing!

matthew and mary crawley:

They spend multiple seasons full of tension to get their happy ever after. There are so many tropes used between these two. They finally get their shit together and get married, and then have a beautiful child together. Matthew is so happy about his child being born that he doesn't pay attention to the road and fucking DIES IN A CAR CRASH. And that's how their story ends. It makes me so livid every time I think about it lol they really killed him off like that right after and I mean RIGHT AFTER his child is born. It's so foul and every man that they set Mary up with after that doesn't feel nearly the same

keiichi maebara and rena ryugu:

Fluffy harem romcom twists into yandere horror, but then twists again into a story of friendship triumphing over everything. Really holds for any pairing with Keiichi, but the rooftop battle in part 6 is just too good. A recent manga spinoff has them married to total randos, so their respective sons can have the same kind of relationship.

raleigh beckett and mako mori:

Literally everything about the writing of Pacific Rim make it seem like they're setting up for a romance between these two and then they just. Don't. Despite this, "drift compatable" was one of the most popular AUs for couples after the film came out for a hot minute because of how romantic they made the concept seem. *gestures to the entire movie* seriously (note: "drift compatible" essentially describes an in-universe quality of the relationship between raleigh and mako, meaning this quality was so romantic that it would be implemented for other ships in au fanfics)

kagome higurashi and inuyasha from inuyasha:

3. Opinion on blood magic

surana finds blood magic intriguing but distasteful for himself. he didn't mind jowan being a blood mage after he got over the initial shock (rarely is what the templar said true) but hes wary. both because of the history he's heard and also for himself specifically (he doesn't trust himself with the power to hurt himself or others). (battlemage/arcane warrior)

hawke had never met a blood mage before merrill (that he knew of, malcolm having used blood magic before) and after merrill never met a blood mage he liked. unfortunately i think merrill reads as an exception to him rather than the rules being faulty themselves. while he doesnt mind merrill taking some of his own blood/power, he finds it hard to reckon with the issues of hurt/consent otherwise. he prefers magic that's very. overt and representative. theres no underlying tricks, just raw power. plus after what happens to his mother, he REALLY ends up with a kneejerk negative reaction to anyone but merrill using it. (lightning/force mage).

Samahl is wary of anything that templars use or focus on (blood magic being some of both). He has a weak stomach AND he doesn't trust the majority of blood mages (that he's met or heard of), so he would never want to use it himself. he would be okay with mages using it ethically as long as they kept it away from him. also despite being a dorianmancer the weak stomach applies to necromancy too <3 sorry dorian. (rift mage)

otherwise, positive to negative: amell (blood mage), cousland (reaver. also bloodfreak), 2nd hawke (also reaver. also merrillmancer), mahariel (merrill stan/romancer), aeducan, tabris, brosca, and kadan adaar (despite romancing a reaver (bull)).

7. if they had to choose one person most important to them, who would that be?

in the interest of being interesting about these i will pick one other person Besides their romantic partner. bc they are all very in love.

surana (romanced zevran): alistair. besties for the resties.

hawke (romanced fenris): varric and carver duel for this honor in his head every day. the rankings can shift depending on the moment (reread a bit in the tale of the champion where varric besmirched him. remembered carver being a cheeky bastard. etc). fenris understands being outranked by sibling concern or varrichawke bromance (never lasts long). EDIT: ALSO MY FRIENDS INQUISITOR MYRNA. he loves her very very much forever. fenris understands this less but hes shrugging

samahl (romanced dorian, as mentioned): its solas unfortunately. its solas. like 3 of his whole songs on his playlist are about solas. its the friend/trusted advisor/mentor thing. and then solas doesnt even think of him as a real person (or at least tries not to). its crushing. he didn't even care about the arm.

8. Who do they hate the most, and do they have an arch-nemesis?

surana cant find it in himself to HATE loghain, but he puts up an effort for alistair. boring answer but he mostly hates Systems rather than individuals - the moment he gains personal knowledge of someone and their motivations he can't Wholly hate them anymore. even taliesin who he was VERY ready to hurt before he could hurt zevran, he heard him and knew that he couldn't hate him. how could he hate anyone else who loved zevran. who WAS zevran even a little. he even feels bad for killing arl howe after nathaniel shows up (not enough to regret it, but still)

hawke - meredith. danarius. cullen. the lack of wind on a hot day. as a joke he'll be nemeses with anyone but for REAL its people with power who abuse it, and cullen because of that and also personal vendetta. cullen broke his nose AGAIN.

samahl doesn't hate anybody (too tired) while also hating everybody who's convenient. blames cullen in the universe in which his clan dies (not real to me). blames corypheus blames samson blames cassandra blames solas. unfortunately what this all means is that he hates and blames himself. he cant even be mad at solas in the end. he couldnt even be mad at corypheus or the nightmare or alexius. but hes very normal about it i promise.

notable mention to mahariel who hates duncan the most (but is nice in front of alistair, who is grieving).

13. their thoughts on the Grey Warden order?

surana is. fine with them. he wouldnt have chosen to be a grey warden and he doesnt particularly like doing it, but he doesnt begrudge them for needing help during a blight - especially after duncan and all those with him died during ostagar. after the blight its.. something to do. and he might as well make it worth it that he's SO blighted - that he'll die sooner rather than later - so that nobody else has to.

Hawke thinks theyre overrated - he's killed a LOT of darkspawn thank youuuuu and they also failed to keep corypheus down (not that he did any better). hes very bitter at the wardens for keeping their secrets about the calling and ALSO bitter that carver seems to be enjoying life more in their ranks than anytime with him. or at least that he doesnt hear about it when he isn't. scared for his dumb baby brother all the time and he doesnt even call.

samahl respects what they do and what theyve done, but doesnt care to think of them as infallible. because they arent! hes a little irritated when blackwall goes on but that becomes mostly amusement once he finds out about blackwalls whole thing. he does NOT like what the weisshaupt wardens did, but that doesn't mean the whole organization is busted - just that there shouldn't be room for ALL of these types of things to happen (corypheus, weisshaupt, hawke.). he actually really loves the history though, and didn't mind hearing blackwall talk about it when it was history rather than just flattering. (would have a hero thing about surana WAY more than he did hawke. sorry hawke).

EDIT: that was not the weisshaupt wardens that was the uhhh. whoever the here lies the abyss ones were. you know.

21. what is their biggest regret?

surana doesnt WISH he'd never been a grey warden - someone had to defeat the archdemon - but he does regret that he'll have to leave zevran behind one day. i imagine theyre looking for a cure, but not hard. theyve discussed this at length. (i wrote a little thing once of surana informing zevran about the whole calling thing, but its VERY old now).

hawke. his whole family. kirkwall. is everything youve ever done a regret?. he regrets the fact that anders didnt come to him and let him say how fucking stupid the bombing was before he did it. he would have helped him with ANYTHING else. he regrets what happened to his sister, his mother, to carver even if he is still alive. to his father, at the very beginning. letting carver go to ostagar alone. not saying anything good enough to have his friends believe in him enough to trust him. merrill's clan hating her in part because of him. not being enough for anyone to stay for, after the fact. holding fenris there (false) when he was the exception. letting varric write that fucking book about him. not going when varric first told him they were looking for him, and going when it meant he would die. not being able to sit still without a sword to throw himself on.

samahl. solas again. dorian leaving too, but thats him being so strong and supporting his lover from afar. but not being enough for solas to reconsider what he was doing? LOGICALLY he knows it wasnt about him but who gives a shit what logic says.

26. Do they get a happy ending?

Surana. happy-ish? defeated TWO world disasters i think he deserves to be zevrans trophy wife dealing with His stuff for a little while. he's going to die from blight any day now probably irt da4 but hes in love and still talks to his friends if he can. he makes sigrun stay closeby so he can remind her not to die before him. she lets him <33.

HAWKE lives in purgatory right now. both because there are two different timelines (the one i played vs the one i wrote with my friend + her inquisitor). in the first hes alive and safe from the fade. deeply depressed but living with fenris and dog and letters from his People and killing slavers. what more could a guy ask for at the end of the day. in the OTHER timeline he gets left in the fade. BUTTTT i imagine his friends band together to get him out. because i love. reforming the team. and also he needs to deal with that deep depression by living through more struggles. his favorite. fenris might kill him when theyre all done saving him though.

samahl.... we'll see wont we. hes fine with no arm hes.. less fine with dorian not being there. but hes got his friends even if he's disbanded the inquisition. he gets to go back to his clan and cry into the keepers arms for a minute. he gets to help teach the kids how to control their magic, even if his has suffered from . probably no longer being a rift mage? he gets to LIVE and not be under 2390248 stresses every day. until datv. but whateverrr hes chillin rn. sneaking into dorians house every now and then and helping his clan and helping the red jennies (SERA..) and giving leliana (divine in his timeline) advice he is NOT qualified to give. helping cassandra undo tranquility. its a life and its to be had.

For context, I had been sitting on my first playthrough for a month, as I had 4 huge fights left that I was putting off and little else left (Orin, Ansur, House of Hope, and the last battle). I did start a second playthrough in the interim, getting that character to the Gauntlet of Shar, then decided to go back to finish my OG character. I finally finished the game a couple days ago and have been collecting my thoughts. Here are some resolutions from my playthrough and thoughts on the game/characters:

1. First, here is my first Tav— Quil, a nonbinary tiefling Bard with very high charisma. I adore the character creator, but have one gripe— why can’t we yeet the titties in the vanilla creator (I know there are mods)? I want no titties please.

2. I did not get the Volo eye during my first run; Quil knew a bad idea when they saw one (my second Tav, Rackal, not so much). Quil also didn’t fuck with the Necromancy of Thay.

3. Scratch and owlbear cub made it all the way to the end!

4. Fucked up Auntie Ethel’s quest and got Mayrina killed.

5. Minthara was killed (I only recently fully learned how non-lethal attacks work).

6. It was really hard for me to pick a romance; I spent a good hour loading/reloading the tiefling party to go through my options (everyone but Gale and Wyll were interested, as I was specifically playing a character who wasn’t openly flirting with anyone; I wanted to see what characters came to me first. That said, I had to keep pushing Lae’zel back because girl wanted me within moments of meeting). Karlach ended up stealing my heart; I adore her.

7. I also had Halsin join us. I don’t see a lot of talk about KarlachxTavxHalsin on here, and it kinda bums me out; I was sold on the polycule when KarlachxHalsin started flirting with each other.

8. As a high-charisma character, Act 2 was my favorite, especially when it came to Yurgir. I did not know you could talk your way out of that fight completely; I think I was as shocked as Astarion when it worked. I’ve never seen a game where you could just… talk people to death. It was amazing.

9. Speaking of Act 2, Ketheric Thorm’s introduction is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. It was perfect at conveying the magnanimity of the situation.

10. I got everyone’s happy endings I think. Wyll, Karlach and I went to Avernus and are kicking ass, Gale is a professor/crown destroyed, and Astarion did not ascend/spawn were spared (the Gur letter at the epilogue is AMAZING). Shadowheart turned away from Shar, but her parents died so she could be free; she has the owlbear cub though, so I think she’ll be okay.

11. I don’t understand the whole “Wyll can’t make a decision” discourse. I get the issue with the pact scene (I can’t remember if I had the option to let him choose, but we worked with Mizora), but people make it out like he doesn’t make any decisions about his future at all in the game. I was able to leave the Blade of Avernus/Duke decision to him, and he chose the Blade. He had some cool dialog about the decision as well.

12. The goddamn Orpheus vs. Emperor choice is about the dumbest thing ever. I feel like if you maintained an overall positive relationship with the Emperor and managed to pull Lae’zel away from Vlaakith, I think there should be an opportunity to break Orpheus free and convince him to join you WITHOUT the Emperor turning tail to the Netherbrain. You should be able to free Orpheus and then have another high persuasion check to get him to stand down/join you. I feel that given the severity of the current situation, Orpheus would accept joining forces if it meant no additional mindflayers be made. Just the fact the Emperor goes by, Orpheus gets freed, and someone has to become a mindflayer is just…. Frustrating at best.

13. I think that regardless if romanced or not, a Lae’zel with high/exceptional approval who turned from Vlaakith is in love with Tav. The emotion in her goodbye at the docks is so powerful.

14. Similarly, I think the same can be said for Shadowheart (if turned away from Shar/had high approval).

15. The Dribbles quest sucked, but worth it just to make Lucretious happy/have her say nice things to me.

16. The character that grew on me the most was Astarion. I honestly didn’t like him too much, but his growth over Acts 2 and 3 really changed my mind. Plus, when I met Yenna, he actually gave approval towards any means of helping her— I was SHOOK.

17. I think the Orin kidnapping would be more impactful if your love interest was taken instead (the angst/race against the clock would be amazing). I also think that if one of the tadpole crew gets taken, the fact that Orin doesn’t have one should tell someone something’s up.

18. My favorite companion is tied between Karlach and Lae’zel. Karlach is so optimistic/stands true to herself despite the bullshit she goes through, and Lae’zel character growth is spectacular.

19. My least favorite companion is Shadowheart, although she’s beginning to grow on me. It’s just that some of her offhand comments are so off-putting in a real hypocritical way. For example, the “I didn’t expect to feel empathy towards refugees” thing is really hard to ignore.

20. My favorite NPCs are, in no particular order, Ketheric Thorm, Rolan, Yurgir, Omeluum, Blurg, Lucretious, Barcus Wroot, Auntie Ethel and Mol.

21. My least favorite NPCs are Gortash (I think he is a great villain, but he’s the kind of manipulative, opportunistic evil that makes my skin crawl), Wulburn Bongle and honestly most of the creche. Also that lady who’s mean to the dogs, but I nuked her with fireball and don’t see her as much if an NPC.

I think he collects the random notes and scraps of paper and maps throughout the game and keeps them in like a Normal Behavior Scrapbook. Both out of some kind of whimsical fascination with the multifaceted lives of mankind & out of weirdguy stalker shit trying to piece together how to think and act

8. if either, are they part of the astarion/gale book club (magic & literature) or the wyll/shadowheart book club (trashy romance novels)?

He cant read anymore I think he gets added to the first camp because he reads Necromancy of Thay but would rather hang out with Shadowheart and Wyll anyway because if Gale starts going into magical theory he's gonna have a seizure

9. if they had to be put in a “get along shirt” with a companion, who would it be?

He doesn't really have problems with his companions much because of his impressionable nature and the glass house he lives in as a former Jeff The Killer. If I had to pick it would be Lae'zel I guess because she probably gets sick of his nonsense. But he's in tne shirt like :-) I'm with my friend Lae'zel!

Fuckin hell it's nearing 3am(3 hours after i finished Nona) and I really need to sleep but lemme see if I can form any coherent thoughts about the ending

I was already crying at Nona mourning pal and cam so terribly(something about the healthiest relationship in the series still being consumption and merging under threat and stress, but still mutual and consensual and a symbiosis instead of parasitic, and how now both of them are gone but are one, but they're not gone, and how to love is to change others and be changed by others and share their experience and become one by absorbing little bits of them into yourself like a child growing up learning from media and their family and friends and how nona fucking speed ran that I guess but also is still so so so touched every single time and-), and the ship steering part was so cool but the repetition of I'm dying probably kept me on my toes, and eventually I was sobbing with Nona disassociating from harrows body and the march into the tomb and the killing of crux and maybe he was being extra nasty to make kiriona kill him faster and not feel guilt but of course she does and she doesn't feel satisfaction either because that's hardly ever the part of revenge that helps you heal and-), and then ianthe sitting down backwards on the steel chair with the red apple in her hand being the fucking friendship bracelets and then kiriona baffling her anyway with her plan which was satisfying af, but then Nona literally imploding I guess and the reveal of when exactly the uhhh psalms(like the John 32 or whatever idk what they're called, damn I really should read the bible for this series huh) took place and getting details of alecto, and then I didn't understand mostly what was happening anymore and was just?????? Shocked out of my tears and mourning and just left absolutely baffled and not ready to have emotions at the end of a tlt book for the third time in a row (100% success rate) and. Wow.

Also something something about "necromancy" and necrotic romance and dead love and love Is dead BUT ITS NOT LOVE IS FOREVER and it will always have happened and changed you and you both won't be the same anymore but you you're better for it and maybe staying the same isn't good, maybe keeping to the status go is bad actually like trying to keep a memory sealed or put the love in a mini fridge or not do anything to save the planet the only Home we have and GOD FUCK I HATE RICH PEOPLE jod is a man corrupted by his power but also his progress was completely logical and he's such a good fucking villain FUCK God damn

Monster of the week ranchers au part 3: Episode Concepts

Some of these ideas came from @hybbat and I conversations about this au. So some of these ideas come from our convro

1. Homecoming Gone Wrong: This is one of the ideas that hybbat helped create. Pretty much this episode involves Jimmy and Tango going to homecoming. This episode is at the stage of their relationship where both have massive crushes on each other but also very close friends. That gray area of platonic and romantic. Anyways Tango loans a suit from scam artist immortal heavily in decades ages worth of debt High vampire scott. Mainly because their whole romance story is Jimmy trying to flirt monster and Tango trying to flirt human. Anyways once they have a romantic slow dance and about to confess their feeling because Grian is still early development and having petty emotions about Jimmy being the chosen one and because he was honestly running for his life brings the monster to the dance causing people to run off. Tango monsters out and beats up the monster and runs off into the woods with a ripped af suit on him. Jimmy follows and they dance after a emotional heart to heart. They dance in a clearing in the woods full of native wild flowers and fireflies. Whatever next episode is has scott trying to get his money back from tango because of the ruined suit. He is a very in debt and poor vampire.

2. Love Smells Sweet: Pretty much a creepy transfer student that is secretly literally a queen bee monster kinda brainwashes the whole school that isn’t supernatural to love her. This includes our protagonist Jimmy until Tango puts his hands on his cheeks and wakes him up from the queen bee thrall. Tango spends most of the episode jealous at first but that quickly becomes concern because the girl was directing the whole student body like servants. Eventually Jimmy and Tango beat up the queen bee. Tango calls Jimmy honey as part of his puns. Also called her a literal honey trap. Tango is on his pun game this episode.

3. Pet Cemetery? More Like Friend Cemetery: This is the episode that we are actually introduced to Shelby as a actual character instead of someone we tend to see in the background of episodes. Pretty much we are shown that recently she found out she is a witch of a hella strong witch bloodline but literally no one trained her. Her grandma passed away and gave her the family spell book. Anyways her pet dog dies and so she attempts to do necromancy. But spoiler the place she buried her dog was also a unmarked grave of a woman aka Cleo. So now she has a zombie on her hands. Eventually they become besties by the end of the episode but that’s the conflict.

4. Men In Black is Overrated: Jimmy and co go to the movies to watch one about aliens and secret government orgs that deal with them. Cue them making fun of said men in black trope. It was all fun and games until doppelgängers decided that clone themselves into men in blacks. Doppelgängers in a form will act like that form so now a squad of doppelgängers men in black is trying to catch Tango to dissect him. This is the episode where Jimmy saves Tango. But yes this is the episode where Tango goes through the ringer.

5. Witchcraft for the idiot lesbian: The second episode that involves Shelby. This is afterwards we see clues she is crushing on Kathrine. Pretty much whenever she tries to flirt with Kathrine or what not. Her gay panic is so strong she made her school go into a hell like dimension because she embrassed herself in front of her crush. Eventually she gets her big girl pants on and teams up with her crush to kill the monsters that appeared in the hell dimension the school fell into. Cue Kathrine after they return back to reality kisses her on the cheek and Shelby literally is so happy she floats. She literally has to be dragged back to the ground by Cleo before the episode ends.

6. The Red Stalker of the Woods: The Episode that introduces our feral good boy Tango! It’s very early season so Jimmy is still very much fighting tooth and nail against his destiny. It’s starts out with Fwhip waking up in his posh cabin seeing a monster ripping off his fridge door and taking all the food inside. Fwhip runs out like a dumbass in a rain storm getting chased by said monster before fainting. In actuality Fwhip was getting hunted by something else and the monster was your bear like cryptid that will steal all your food was trying to save his dumb ass. Plot continues and people start talking about “The Red Stalker” and how he’s so dangerous despite the fact no human actually got hurt. Eventually Jimmy has to get involved but Jimmy sorta knows that whatever the red stalker that’s in front of him (When he sees Tango he is full monster) is like not harmless but doesn’t want to hurt him so he tackles hugs Tango causing him to change into his main form which is mostly human. And that’s when Tango falls in love. Jimmy probs gives him chips or whatever food he had on him. Jimmy goes home and then wakes up to butfuck in the morning to see that Tango followed him home and Tango just sorta stays at Jimmy house since then. He lives in the attic. Tango wants to protect the human his dumbass fell in love with at first tackle hug.

7. Nature isn’t nice: Pretty much scar rich posh family that likes to delve into the forbidden magics. Summons a nature spirit in order to like steroid the crops of the town. But because it’s scar family who does forbidden magics they corrupted the poor spirit so now it’s thirsts for BLOOD. Imagine Jimmy and co like a ghost buster with a weed wacker and pesticide. Eventually they break in and unsummons the poor thing.

8. Scooby Doo! But add MURDER: Martyn the son of the mayor invites all of the school to his house to have a costume party during Halloween season. But a real monster actually snuck into the party. Cue a intense game of mafia with actual stakes. Jimmy was just happy to be invited to a party for once but now he has to play detective.

9. Demonic Possession! Just Add Water: Fwhip like he is prone to do decides to do Quija while he was plastered causing him to get possessed by a demon. Causing Jimmy and Sausage mainly to make the most shittiest excorism to get it out of him. Note to Jimmy: Red Crayon is good in exorcisms.

10. Haunting? Nah my place just has a CO2 Leak: One of the few episodes that Follow Skizzleman instead of him being a background character that acts as sorta a gag character. His house is definitely haunted and he has the main characters over for movie night and despite the blood on the walls and the wailing ghost he refuses to believe his place is haunted. Nah it’s just a old house. Nah the pipes are shitty. Nah probs the CO2 poisoning, causing Jimmy and co to act like a therapist to the poltergeist because no matter what he does it does not scare Skizzleman at all.

11. Monster hunting for Teen Girls: The episode that follows the day to day life of Kathrine. I sorta imagined it being like diary vibes. Like glitter pen subtitles on screen. And it just shows her being at school and being a monster hunter and depending on where in the show this is at she could be having a milkshake date with Shelby as well.

12. The Public Library that wasn’t there yesterday: The Mayor cuts cost so much that they almost shut down the public library. But spooky one day there’s a new library. But the thing is any book you decide to get effects your daily life. This obviously caused loads of chaos. Eventually it’s turned out that the librarian got into a pact with a eldritch god to make sure the kids have a library in their lives. Because of budget cuts. Which Jimmy was just like fair

13. Women of Shadow Lake: This is the episode where Joel managed to find a eldritch tome and summon the Women of Shadow Lake aka Lizzie aka a eldritch lake being. And he falls in love causing him to try to protect her from Jimmy. Jimmy leaves him alone.

14. The Strange Mr Pix: A episode that follows Jimmy and his classmates trying to figure out what the fuck is their history teacher aka Mr Pix. His mom van is full of magical artifacts. He appears randomly. Tango even comments on that he is more of a cryptid then himself a actual cryptid. Anyways Pix may or may not be involved with the town secret society, a cult, part of the goverment, or immortal. It’s up to viewer to theorize.

15. The Sentient Arcade: Arcade that gains sentience because of supernatural bs that traps gamers into the game. Jimmy did not have a good time. He now refuses to go to the arcade because of this event.

16. Beasts and Best-friends: BigB sees that his best friend is acting werid. Turns out he’s a werewolf and BigB gets accidentally turned. So now they are beasts and bffs. Jimmy really needs to sleep and stop getting involved into supernaturals relationships.

17. Theatre is Dying: Joey gets the role of Captain Hook in the school play of Peter Pan and then gets harassed by the ghost of Oli. This is the episode where the dark secrets of the town start to unravel.

18. Finals and Freaks: Ok so a group of students at Jimmy school in order to cheat at their finals start to abuse a legit magical 8 ball. The magical 8 ball has major side effects. Each time it’s used the user gets more monstrous. So Jimmy has to somehow do his math final in the same room with like 4 monsters out for his blood.

19. Stairs in the woods: just my favorite urban legend. People start going missing and Jimmy has to investigate. And Jimmy gets trapped in a alternate world for a bit.

20. Lights in the water: The swimming pool of the school suddenly has lights in the water. Spoiler- a giant angler fish that can be invisible in water is living in it. One of the monsters that Jimmy legit has nightmares of.
