“Crowley,” he sighed. The pressure at his shoulders one thing, but this… was a whole different scenario. “Must you…”

“It’s chilly” was his given excuse. The massive snake would normally, as a given choice, rest around his shoulders. A win-win choice, truly; Crowley gets to sleep as long as he wishes, and customers intended for book purchases would either not bother him or even refuse to step into the shop the moment they spotted the unusual belief that the book owner had quite the scarf—until it started moving, the tongue occasionally sticking out.

But as of now, what should be a normal day was a bit intrusive. It wasn’t even that cold; the temperature was always the same unless the winter came. Summer was on the horizons soon, but for some reason Crowley made the decision to leave his shoulders and dive straight into his clothing, his smooth scales slithering over his smooth pale skin. He can feel the intrusion stretching his clothes.

He sighed, shuddering a second when the tail flicked at his ear lobe. His angel cup laid on the table, feeling a sense of growing annoyance. “Really, Crowley. Wouldn’t it be best if were on a pillow… or… something?” Setting things straight for his personal space was difficult when feeling a scaly thick rope at his stomach, the rumbles at his top clothing showing of an endless hill or two in slow train movement.

Eventually the adjustment came to an end. Crowley’s head popped out, resting near his collar. His forked tongue flicked at his chin, Aziraphale raising an eyebrow.

“You’re sssso warm,” he hissed, his own chin nuzzling near his collarbone. At the angle he laid, it was a bit difficult but Aziraphale caught on the eyes drifting to a close. Seconds in, and the angel knew the snake demon had went into the normal slumber he’d been doing for days.

The bell of his store went off, footsteps coming in search for a book to hopefully just read. Aziraphale pouted before sighing in defeat. “Well,” he muttered, lifting his cup of tea. “At least there won’t be too much eyes on me.”

He would keep it to himself, knowing how he was would get if provoked over the idea, but Aziraphale couldn’t help it: the demon looked quite adorable when asleep before, and still did despite the clothes stretching.

He did make a small miracle to stretch the clothes for Crowley’s intrusion. Last thing he wanted was a clean button to come undone.

There must be people who experience specific instinct things with indifference or boredom.

Procreative cycle coming up? "Crap, I've got plans this weekend...stupid skip weeks."

Caught an intriguing scent while walking? "But I need to get to work! Shut up brain."

Had a snap response to a distressed sound? "Who was it?! ...right, it's my day off, I can go back to sleep."

Somebody growled at them? "Kid, I'm not a rival, that's my sibling."

Super cozy cuddle session happening nearby? "I'm gonna pass tonight guys, no social battery left, maybe next time."

Group of friends heading out to flirt and check out other singles? "I'm coming with you but only to make sure you all get home safe."

Setting where fated mates or soul bonds or permanent marks are a thing? "Meh. I don't really want one or care if I ever get one."

People in the actual omegaverse would get as bored of their stuff, as we do of ours, you know? It could be interesting to see that kind of vibe in fics. Biological demands faced with all the excitement of paying bills or doing laundry or tying your shoes.

Even if that kind of energy might not drive a plot, it could be interesting to have as a contrast to the people who do have big feelings about them - good or bad.

There's the friends who can't wait til they have a pack of their own, and the one friend who isn't against it but couldn't care less. There's the group in the office who are all about scent compatibility tests and figuring out one's best match and what sprays most highlight it, and the coworker who has no intentions on putting that much effort in. There are parents who hover and protect their offspring by scenting them multiple times a day, and others who don't see what the fuss is as long as it's done in the morning.

...also: packs with introverts who show care by giving each other space. So often, closeness is depicted through physical touch and tactile affection, but comfortable silence is meaningful too. Knowing people are near, but not having to interact until you're ready. Sitting in the same room doing different things, knowing that all it takes is a "hey, look at this" to share what you're up to. People understanding and accepting each other's differing or fluctuating needs for how and when to recharge. Seeing somebody reaching out or sharing space, beyond what's their norm, as a signal of the fact that they care.
