Like them during/after prisoner of askaban is peak to me. I really wish there were more fics like that(any recs would be appreciated). For one, I think I said this before, I think Sirius was super interested in Remus from day one. Remus who was nothing like the people he grew up around, so honest and kind and quiet and considerate and charming and had a unique sense of humor and mischief. He was all that, but on the outside scarred, what could've happened? He needed to know more!! And Remus was a little intimidated first. My personal thoughts of how he grew up was his family kept him on their farmhouse and homeschooled him like I think was said in canon, so he wouldn't be very used to other kids, especially not loud kids like Sirius and James. But was slowly opened up, especially being around Peter, who was also quite quiet but already knew James and was more comfortable and tried to include Remus more and more. I believe the status quo of it taking Sirius a while to realize his feelings were more than curiosity and platonic. And I think it was quite a slow build for Remus, but was in full force before Sirius figured it out. But the YEARN. They actually invented yearning btw. (I'm skipping my thoughts on the war years cause I feel like that's what's talked about most, but if anyone wants a post from me about it, or even more in depth on this lmk) But post war..... Ugh my favourite. Like growing back together, relearning stuff about the other, both having stuff from those 12 years (and before) they struggle with and need to work through, but not having time. NOT HAVING ENOUGH TIME‼️I mean I don't even think they "got back together" between POA and sirius' death. There were too many unsaid things, too much time lost, not enough time with the war, other things on their minds. But when Sirius was laying low with lupin, I think they fell back into whatever routines and dynamics they had before just a little more hesitant. God I die for "never was said/official" ships😔 like they didn't need to hear it to know, they didn't need to label anything. And post askaban it was just an almost, a "what if?". 10/10 forever and ever and ever.

The Percy Jackson series. I found it during a vulnerable moment in my life and these books were a lifeline, so I'll always have a soft spot for them

Throne of Glass. Very ridiculous but never doubt the bond between a person and the mediocre book series they read when they were 14

Six of Crows. A must read, really

Batman and Robin, from any media. Fell in love with it during a really hard period of my life part 2, pandemic edition

Haikyuu. Literally life changing, made me fall in love with anime

My Hero Academia. Superhero anime, what else can I say. This was made for me

A bit of a dark horse, but Zukka. Idk okay! The edits got me!! I just like their dynamic a lot, even just platonically. Two boys from opposing sides of a war who present toxic attitudes in an attempt to fit in as an overcompensation to how they feel inferior to their younger sisters and crave their father's validation. The parallels are there, see!!

Sunday

Week 26 of missing Cipher Academy

Undead Unluck was super cute…I teared up a little, to be honest. To see Fuuko demonstrate her dedication to Tatiana as a show of her friendship was so sweet… I’m glad they worked something out for Tatiana in the wardrobe department, but judging from the line about the time limit it seems like it won’t be an everyday thing. Now that we’re wrapping up the final recruitment, it feels really exciting to have no idea where the story’s going to go next.

Monday

Listened to the first half of He Who Drowned the World while I got some work done, and they weren’t kidding when they said that this book was darker than the first. I don’t mind it, though – I love seeing all of these toxic relationships play out as each character tries to further their own agenda through the power they wield. It’s very Succession-like in that way, which I’m always happy to see. The relationship between Wang Baoxiang and the Third Prince is a level of toxic straight yaoi that I’ve never even seen before, so I really have to commend Parker-Chan on both their willingness to go there and their restraint. Seeing Zhu Yuanzhang and Ouyang slowly bond over their likeness is also great – their relationship was so central to the first book, but here we finally get to see them interact as two individuals rather than the ideals they were upholding as commanders before. I even like the Madame Zhang bits, with her doomed het and seeing her trying to scrape together what power she can as a woman. The payoff for Wang Baoxiang’s posters was so good…I love seeing him strategize and orchestrate movements behind the scenes because he can see the bigger picture – when I’m reading from Zhu’s perspective, there’s a fun irony in watching Wang Baoxiang’s machinations inch ever closer. I’ve heard some people say that this series goes downhill, especially after the 50% mark of this book, but I don’t know, I’m still having fun watching these terrible people destroy the world for their ambitions.

Tuesday

No entertainment today, but I did go out and buy some manga. Got Dungeon Meshi volumes 13 and 14 (I just need 12 to finish my collection…) and Undead Unluck volumes 7 (for my wife Feng) and 15 (for obvious reasons).

Wednesday

Too swamped with work to do anything, but did have a bit of energy left to catch up with Dandadan. Once again, Tatsu’s illustration work is just gorgeous to behold. Plotwise, Dandadan probably would’ve tired me out by now, but seeing the inventive designs and action panelling coupled with the perfect touch of pathos always keeps me energized for chapters of fights on end. I’m glad to have caught up now, when the story has seemingly (and finally) started to show its hand as to what all of these paranormal and fantastical and alien encounters were for. Count Saint Germain is an interesting antagonist – I like that he just seems to have his own goals with no ill will towards the protagonists, but if they get in the way of his ambitions then I’m sure he’d have no problem cutting them down. I’m definitely ready for the story to take a more focused direction, and I’m hoping that that’s what we’ll get after the month-long break.

Daemon... I don't understand the Valyrian blood purity supremacist thing because he never indicates that once!! so far the only character who has talked about keeping the bloodline pure is Aemond. Rhaenyra & Laena are descended from the Arryns and Baratheons respectively and he never says a word about that or about the Strong boys, and in the book him and Mysaria almost have a child which by all accounts he wanted and was dismayed to lose. It's a total fanfic invention
