I keep saying I want a Supernatural Season 16 but do I really want it? In my head it’d be this great season that erases the finale, makes Destiel canon, and shows Sam getting the happy ending he deserves, but in reality it’d probably be some homophobic mess that’s somehow worse than the finale we have now. I do actually feel like Misha was a perfectly serviceable actor way back at the beginning. I even get why they decided to keep him around when he proved popular with the fandom. It was indeed proven a mistake in so, so many ways as time went on, though.

Yeah, first and most egregious is the kind of person Misha turned out to be - or at least turned into after so many years of fans blowing smoke up his ass. A bitter, entitled, ungrateful, lazy backstabber who is perfectly comfortable telling blatantly obvious and contradictory self-serving lies and nonsense. Whether that's about the ship or his relative importance to the show directly, whether that's skeevy sexual comments about Jensen/Dean, whether that's trying to paint Jared as some kind of evil bully that abused him. He keeps proving again and again there is no bar he won't limbo under.

Next is I think his performance on the show and what his continued presence on the show resulted in plot-wise from the writers. He was fine at first when he was just playing a non-human mysterious figure that only appeared now and then and had a major role in the whole structure of the apocalypse. He even had a pretty good arc leading up to the Leviathans. The problem was they kept him around as a "fan favorite" after that when they really didn't have anything for him to do but eat up screen time to give J2 time off. Would we have really gotten so much bad, circular angel politics if there wasn't a need to give Castiel something to do to keep Misha employed? I personally doubt it. Even worse than that, though? As time went on, Misha seemed to recognize that his only relevance was baiting shippers and wasting time and leaned into turning Castiel into the type of character he gets written as in so much bad D/C fanfic - a pathetic mostly human woobie who is completely useless for anything but the projection of bizarre teen romance fantasies that don't make any damn sense. Which culminated in that bizarre ambiguous queerbait he and Bobo the Clown cooked up for Castiel's exit. Which doesn't even touch his later seasons' presumable attempts at acting where his choices for Lucifer!Castiel & AU!Castiel & Empty!Castiel were all ... entirely made up of bad accents and gurning. It wasn't about any of those character's motivations or places in the narrative, it was about the laziest possible attempt to differentiate them from his normal character. Even in latter season's SPN, which IMNSHO had so, so many issues dragging things down, Misha's lack of interest in anything but the size of his paychecks and con earnings played into some of the worst.

Which brings us to D/C and the whole supposedly canon thing. Canon is literally what happened. D/C didn't happen, it's that simple. Castiel rambled some ambiguous bullshit about love and got sucked into the Empty while Dean looked bewildered and sad at him from several feet away. Misha can make up as many stories about what the character was totally thinking and how he was totally coming back in the finale and queerbaiting about what will totes happen in a revival, but not a word of it actually makes what Castiel said "I'm IN love with you". Nor does it magically manifest a reciprocation from Dean. What doesn't happen on screen but actors or TPTB say about the canon is often called Word of God. Which yes, Misha's does not outweigh everything Jensen and Jared and various showrunners have clearly said. Jensen might have gotten less confrontational about shooting it down over the years, but the underlying message hasn't changed. Meanwhile, not only do the details of Misha's stories constantly change, but the general message of his claims has flip flopped so many times. The show was about the brothers, no actually the brothers and the angel! He joked about wincest, no actually he'd never heard of it! He didn't want to say what that scene meant, no actually feel free to attack anyone who says it wasn't a homosexual declaration of love! There's more, but Misha's not worth the effort of looking them up.

As you say, at the end of the day, anyone watching the totality of the show and seeing how it ended? It's very obvious the center of the story was a platonic love story. A complicated one, granted, but Sam and Dean so many times made it very clear that it was them ... and everyone else. Except in the same way that acknowledging that doesn't serve the hellers agenda in demanding a continuation must center their ship so they can finally have visuals to go with their fanfic, acknowledging that doesn't serve Misha's agenda of fleecing them out of money for telling them it will happen for as long as he can get away with it.

𝔀𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 - wedding, happy crying, jensen & louden swain singing at her wedding, callie making jared cry 

𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 - callie and jared are at their wedding reception and, to surprise her husband, callie decided that she'd get jensen & louden swain to sing their couple song as flashbacks of their entire relationships also are intertwined. 

𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓻'𝓼 𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓮 - this was inspired by my favourite michael buble song, everything so as you could've guessed, lyrics will be in bold italics, flashbacks in italics and the wedding itself in the normal font. i also recommend listening to everything on repeat whilst reading this cause it'll set the vibe and make it cuter.

no one expected callie padalecki to surprise her new husband during their wedding reception. most especially jared himself. callie wanted to give her husband the best wedding present and, the only thing she thought that was special enough was for her and jensen and louden swain to sing their couple song, everything by michael buble. that song was probably the most important song in their relationship. the amount of times the couple would hear this song whenever they'd go somewhere was comedic at this point. so, that was when they decided to make it their couple song since they were always hearing it.

jared and callie couldn't help their laughter as they stood at their autograph tables. they were at dallascon about to do autographs when everything by michael buble started to play over the speakers. throughout their dating lives, as they were now engaged, the amount of times they had heard this song was a crazy amount. it was now their couple song for that reason because it started to become a staple in their relationship and they'd hear it everywhere.  

then, all of a sudden, the couple got up from their tables and they just started to dance. jensen, misha and mark sheppard all watch with smiles on their faces at the young couple who were just clearly enjoying themselves as their couple song just happened to play over the loudspeakers.

just to make it even better, callie decided to sing the lyrics to her fiancé as they danced together, just having the time of their lives together

it was a nice summer's day in august when it was decided that jared was going to invite his girlfriend, callie and the rest of their costars over to his house for a pool day. everyone had said yes so, it hadn't taken the group of ten (rob, jason, jensen, misha, callie, evangeline, evannah, mark sheppard and richard) more than ten minutes to all arrive at jared's house for a pool day.

this was also the first time that callie had worn a bikini in front of the entire group that wasn't just jared. she had been so scared for so long but, jared had told her that she looked absolutely gorgeous that she trusted her boyfriend that nothing she wore was going to change that fact.

and, it turns out callie didn't have to worry about anything. the second the girls, evangeline and evannah had seen her, they all fawned in excitement at their friend and they all asked her where she got her bikini's from. she then took a moment after telling the girls where her bikinis came from to look at jared who gave her the sweetest smile ever and blew her a kiss. making her blush, that's how she knew she needed to marry jared. he was the perfect thing she needed when her judgement was clouded and she just needed someone else's opinion on something.

the group of ten were having the most amount of fun they could haev ever had together. it was totally uncommon for not just all ten of them to all be on the same vacation schedule but all be in austin, texas together at the same time since they weren't all living in texas together unlike jared, jensen and their girlfriends were. however, it seemed as though this august summer day, they all were and it just turned out perfectly.

jared, jensen amd misha were chucking their girlfriends into the pool as their cheerful screams and giggles filled the entire backyard of jared's austin farmhouse. hearing those giggles and screams gave the utmost joy to the three guys as well as the rest of the group. it was obvious how in love they all were and it truly felt like they were a family and that they were just a bunch of overgrown children that just happened to be adults. they never seemed to get bored of acting childish when they were all together in a group.

the group stayed until around eight pm when they all decided that after one more late-night swim that they would start to leave. jason, rob, misha, mark, richard and evannah had all left so it was only the last four, jared, jensen and their two girlfriend's callie and evangeline. they all sat together outside just to dry off as they took the longest in the pool after the other six had left as they happily sat in silence to think about how great of a day they all had had together.

"...today was an amazing day. it was a successful day, don't you think babe?" jared whispers into callie's shoulder as jensen and evangeline watched on from the other side

"it really was a great day, babe. we should do this more often as this group of ten. i still cannot believe that we were all in austin though at the same time like, that never happens!" callie smiled as she fiddled with jared's fingers as he smiled, jensen and evangeline agreeing

"it for sure was. i still can't believe that either. i was for sure thinking that rob at least would've got back to la for a bit for certain!" evangeline spoke up, callie immediately agreeing with her best friend 

the best friends continued to laugh and make jokes together until was time for jensen and evangeline to go home since an early day was on the horizon for the couple. jared and callie then also walked back inside of their farmhouse to continue their winddown in their living space together. changing into some more comfy clothes, jared gave his girlfriend one of his football jersey's, they sat together on the couch, their legs intertwined as they watched some late-night movies before falling asleep in the positions they started in.

"and you play it coy but it's kinda cute. ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do." 

it was well known that whenever jared smiled, it lit up an entire room because he knew exactly the power of his smile and how powerful it truly was. however, he'd always be coy and act shy about it as if he had no idea how much everyone adored his smile. callie found it cute how shy and coy jared would become after he got complimented for his smile. because he knew that she knew how crazy it drove her whenever he smiled. it wasn't hard to figure out that callie adored her husband's smile. whenever the opportunity arose, callie always took time out of her day to let everyone, far and wide, know how much she loved her husband's smile. it never took a genius to figure it out.

callie watched her husband as he shyly smiled at his seat, watching his wife, best friend and a band that also had more of his best friend's in it, sing on the stage in front of him which was probably his favourite sight to see. besides acting together, whenever jared got to see his wife sing alongside their friends, it brought him a different kind of joy than acting. it was obvious that if callie wasn't an actress, callie would love to have a record label, albums out, and be doing around the world tours non-stop.

"...your smile is absolutely gorgeous babe, have i ever told you that?" callie speaks softly, biting her lip as she caressed her boyfriend's face as they rested together in the white, crisp hotel sheets after a long convention day as jared giggled softly

"yes, you tell me that every second of every day, every chance you get. and i love you, even more, every day for it!" jared smiles shyly as he rolls over to see his girlfriend's face, making her giggle slightly

"i love you most! besides, why do you get so shy about getting complimented on your smile? it's truly the best thing about you that i can see every singel day. i men, your entire face is gorgeous but, it was truly your smile that made me fall in love and want to date you straight away. also the fact that you've got one of the best personalities i've ever seen also..." callie trailed off as she suddenly became tired that her hand had started to limply fall against jared's face, making him chuckle

"...you tired baby girl? you can go to sleep, it's okay!" jared whispered, his texan accent strong as callie tried her hardest, after hearing jared chuckle at her exhaustion and the soft smack to his face, to stay awake as she smiled

"you sure?" callie muttered sleepily as jared smiled, hugging his girlfriend closer

"i'm positive darlin', we had a long day today, you deserve to sleep!" jared whispered as callie smiled into her boyfriend's embrace

"'kay, goodnight," she mumbled as she slowly fell into the best slee she was ever going to get during convention week and she was grateful for it and it was all because of her boyfriend and his to-die-for smile

"baby don't pretend that you don't know it's true. cause you can see it when i look at you."

everyone giggled as jared nodded his head at this lyric that callie and jensen sang together at jared. although jared loved to pretend he didn't know the amount of control his smile had on people, he knew it was true because he could see it when callie looked at him. it always drove the couple crazy when the other looked at them. it always made the other flustered and get all nervous around each other because they literally turned into two teenagers in love around one another. but, that was the beauty of their relationship and now that they were married, they knew it was only going to get better that they were going to stay as lovesick teenagers together.

in all honesty, it still shocked jared that today had happened, that he had married the love of his life. throughout everything that was happening during the wedding reception, he couldn't help but just look all around him as he saw his best friends in the entire world as his groomsmen, some of them onstage right now in the band and as his wife's bridesmaids. he was feeling an abundance of joy right now as his family and wife's family all sat together as they watched their daughter/daughter-in-law sing for their son/son-in-law at their wedding which was the happiest day of their life.

jared moved to the song as he kept direct eye contct with his wife who did the same. it was clear how in love the padalecki's were with one another. even a blind rat could feel the love that the couple had for each other as it wasn't rocket science by any means.

"and in this crazy life, and through these crazy times, it's you, it's you, you make me sing." 

and it was true, no matter how crazy life got for the couple, it was always jared that made callie sing in times where she felt like she couldn't. it made jared's heart light up whenever he heard callie sing, she sang so beautifully. whether it was this song by michael buble or heaven by bryan adams, it was always jared that could convince callie to sing whenever life felt crazy.

as she, jensen and rob all sang and as jared listened and danced around, the memory of when callie first sung at a supernatural convention seeped through both of their heads at the exact same time. however, it was a memory so extensive that it was never shared with anyone that was outside of the orion concert hall in rome, italy 2016. it was the year after jared had his breakdown and had returned back to jibcon which meant that it was a very emotional weekend. so, due to how emotional it was, it was a memory that was rarely spoken about outside of the jib convention. this means that this memory will not be shared in flashback form as callie wanted to concentrate and get through her favourite couple song without crying. it also seemed as though jared didn't want to share this memory either because he also didn't want to cry any more than he already had today.

jared knew how special he was to his wife. he knew all too well that he was his girlfriend's entire world so, he never took that for granted. he never could because then that would make him greedy and selfish and, that wasn't the person he was. he was always someone who desired to be selfless and give to those who needed him. and, that is who he is. he always gives himself to everyone but, sometimes, he gives too much of himself. but, that's what callie's for. whilst jared means so much to callie, she also acknowledges that she needs to be everything that jared needs, just like he is everything that she needs. they were both every line, every word, everything.

"you're a carousel, you're a wishing well, and you light me up when you ring my bell." 

now, this for sure could be taken in a sense of umm, you know what. however, it just makes jared and callie laugh every single time. i mean, if you really wanted the couple to take this lyric seriously, callie would occasionally use jared as a playground just like a child would use their parents (usually their dad) as their playground but, she would also use him as a wishing well where she'd be granted all of her wishes. whic, would then at the drop of a hat (not a ring of my bell) light her up inside because of how happy she was when her wishes came true. of course, it seemed childish but, that was something callie didn't really get to have due to the copious amount of trauma and abuse she suffered growing up. so, when it did come to callie acting "childish" it was never something she was offended by when itr was asked during a convention by a fan or just by a random person that walked past.

callie watched with a bright smile as she saw what was left of her family which were her uncle and aunt on her dad's side which was "in all honesty) the only side of the family she had a relationship with and then the rest of her siblings as they all mingled with jared. her aunt and uncle, who she actually called mom and dad, were on either side of jared as they talked with big smiles on their faces as every couple minutes, laughter would ensue and, it just made her heart burst. she was glad that they were jared's father and mother in law because they really were the only two fit for that job. they absolutely adored jared and jared absolutely adored them and it was a match made in heaven, in true honesty.

"you're a mystery, you're from outer space, you're every minute of my every day." 

everyone squealed in excitement, including callie when jared rushed on stage to join his wife as he was getting reckless, wanting to dance with his wife so badly. thankfully, louden swain and jensen were still there singing background the entire time so if the moment was to ever come up, they were going to take over the rest of the song.

she giggled, the mic picking it up as jared pulled her away so he could get her do dance with her. thankful she was wearing a slip dress, it was easier to dance in so jared nor callie had to worry about tripping hazards or ruining it.

just because she was away from the microphone, that didn't mean that callie had stopped singing. whilst jensen was the one being heard singing on the microphone as rob joined in for background vocals, callie's voice was the only one jared was hearing.

that was until he decided to join in on the next verse, which was callie and jared's favourite part of the song and it showed as they danced to it with the most amount of energy possible.

"and i can't believe, uh, that i'm your man, and i get to kiss you, baby, just because i can!" 

jared jokingly sang to his wife, making her giggle as the crowd cheered as jared then dipped his wife. only to kiss her in the most glorious way as the smile on her face could have cured all the diseases and evil in the world. her laughter could be heard from miles away as the wedding guests watched on in awe and love for the married couple. seeing their best friend, daughter, sister and wife so happy and giggly like a little kid was always an emotional thing. jared's smile and laughter also had the same effect on the world as well but when callie and jared smiled and laughed together, then it truly was double trouble. their smiles and laughter brought peace and happiness to every single person. it made everyone feel safe and like nothing could go wrong because they had jared and callie so happy and giving the gift of joy to everyone who encountered the couple.

the husband and wife danced together in the middle of the dance floor asthe soulful voice of their best friend, jared's best man, jensen rang through the austin, texas barn that was housing the padalecki's wedding reception. callie twirled as jared brought her back into his chest as they continued to sway side to side with huge smiles on their faces as they softly sang the lyrics to each other

however, it was obvious that it was getting boring that it was only the married couple on the dance floor so, that was when callie called out and motioned for everyone alongside jared that they could if they so chose to, join her and jared on the dance floor.

"...come on y'all, if you want, you can join us!" callie called out, jared doing the same thing as everyone cheered in excitement

within a couple of seconds, everyone was out of their chairs and all on the dance foor dancing with their friends, siblings, partners or even on their own or in small groups as jensen, rob and louden swain continued to sing.

"whatever comes our way, ah, we'll see it through, and you know that's what our love can do." 

jared and callie smiled as they danced together, they were way too excited about what was to come next in their marriage, especially considering that right before the wedding, callie had taken a pregnancy test. of course, she let jared know she had done it but, she had done it with evangeline and evannah and they still had no clue whether or not it had come back positive or not. whilst they were hoping for it to come back positive, if it hadn't, it wasn't something the padalecki's were going to ugly cry over. because, in all honesty, jared and callie should not have "broke tradition" by having pre-marital sex literally days before their wedding but, they did and they went just a little bit far.

"and in this crazy life, and through these crazy times, it's you, it's you, you make me sing." 

it seemed as though, due to how jared and callie saw t heir best friends and bridesmaids facial expressions, the pregnancy test results had come back had that they needed to tell the couple. thankfully, everyone else was all preoccupied with jensen, rob and their dancing so no one seemed to notice that the married couple were now no longer in the middle of the stage as they all just sub-consciously went to fill in that gap as they continued dancing and focusing on jensen and rob.

"-what's going on girls? everything okay?" jared is the first to ask as he holds his wife's hand as they are slightly out of breath from all the dancing they had done

evangeline, jensen's wife, breaks first, handing over the first pregnancy test out of the three that callie had taken. grabbing it out of her best friend's hand, callie looked up to her husband before smiling at each other as she then looked at it. the smile that blew up her face was a smile that hadn't ever been seen by anyone in ages. it was the smile that only came to see the light of day at a pregnancy announcement and because jared was so familiar with it, it clicked in his head pretty quickly what his wife's pregnancy test said.

"what...what does it say babe?" even though he was pretty certain he knew, he still wanted to hear his wife say it because just hearing that would make his wedding day to his wife even better

"we're...we're pregnant jared! i'm...i'm pregnant with our first child!" she squeaked out in excitement as she couldn't help the squeals that left her mouth as jared felt tears well in his eyes as he picked up his wife

"we're gonna be parents, baby!" he squealed out tearfully, spinning his wife around before placing her back down as she nodded her head

she then looked at evannah who was holding the other two as she had a huge smile on her face.

"the other two say the same thing?" callie confirms with evannah who smiles and nods her head which causes the four of the them to squeal again in happiness at the news that callie was pregnant at her own wedding and no one else knew but this group of four!

now that mr and mrs knew that callie was pregnant, they danced the rest of the night away in jubilation. they also knew that they next needed to tell their families. however, they knew they were needing to wait since the pregnancy was still on the border of being early and the start of second trimester. but, were they worried to tell their families about the fact they had pre-marital sex and were now becoming parents just mere days before being pronounced as husband and wife, absolutely not. because, funny enough, the same thing happened to callie's biological parents that she emancipated herself from. they became pregnant with her on their wedding day.

it seemed as though both families could already sense it due to the change of joy but, the families didn't disclose if they did know or not.

rob and jensen then gave them strange looks as they then told them they'd tell those two later as the two men continued to sing. finishing up the song so they could then start the next song and continue the party.

"and in this crazy life, and through these crazy times, it's you, it's you, you make me sing." 

everyone screamed out from the tops of their lungs as they all danced together in joy and celebration for the married couple that they had just witnessed get married.

jared and callie giggled, sang, twirled, dipped and kissed as they couldn't believe the fun they were having at their own wedding. they for sure would've thought they'd have bailed on their own reception to have some private time together but, they didn't feel the need to do that. all because they felt all the love in the world from their best friends, they didn't need to run away to get it from one another. and it was also because they didn't want to spend any time away from their family and friends. they wanted to soak up all the love and laughs from them all.

this was everything.

it was true, jared was callie's everything and callie was jared's everything. they didn't need nor want anything else apart from each other and their newest addition that was their new baby padalecki.

also, they told jensen and rob and the rest of the bridal party ended up being the best part of the whole thing. if anything, they had the best reaction to anyone that the couple had either told or those that guessed. so, let's just say that jared and callie padalecki's wedding was a success. even with the tears from the bride, groom and the wedding guests, nothing could have ruining the wedding.

I have a kid who is an obsessive Supernatural fan who forced me to watch many, many episodes. So I’ve thought a lot about that show as an heir to XF.

To me it’s a pretty obvious line to draw. For one, Supernatural filmed in Vancouver, had Kim Manners, had Mitch Pileggi, had the Unremarkable House, had lots of other common cast/crew, etc. There were XF references, too.

But also just because it was a show about two protagonists who traveled all over the U.S. staying in crappy motels, investigating supernatural cases, sacrificing personal life for the calling. It had mytharc plot over seasons as well as MOTW episodes. Plus, the angsty protagonists’ deep-seated psychological motive is trying to right a childhood trauma brought about by otherworldly causes.

The two main characters (Sam and Dean Winchester, for those who never watched) are brothers, and they’re definitely different from Mulder and Scully. There is no believer / skeptic dichotomy. They’re younger, more Midwestern, more overtly traditionally masculine than Mulder (especially in early seasons), not law enforcement (although they actually impersonate FBI agents constantly). They wear flannel and listen to classic rock. They make a big deal of being folksy regular people and having common sense (especially Dean).

I always troll my kid by saying the show was probably supposed to originally be some 2000s Bush administration version of the XF: “Give me Mulder and Scully, but make it so that they’re not coastal elite smarty pants liberals, and instead a pair of dumb good-looking bros with weapons from the heartland that you want to have a beer with.”

That’s an overstatement. I don’t think that’s really fair to the show, or at least not fair to Supernatural the way it evolved over its zillion seasons. They DEFINITELY started to complicate masculinity on Supernatural. Their most ardent fans got real young and real interested in queer relationships. I won’t even get into all this. There are like forty million Supernatural Tumblrs.

But Supernatural actually did have kind of the same problem / strength of XF in that it really depended on its two main characters. There was very little ensemble. There WERE secondary characters. (Very notably Misha Collins as Castiel, who was famously shipped with Dean. Destiel remains the top AO3 ship of all time to this day, I believe). But Castiel was only semi-regularly on the show, kind of like the Gunmen on XF.

The show also had regular antagonists (like Crowley, played by XF alum Mark Sheppard). But the show was kind of notorious with fans for killing off Sam and Dean’s allies, especially female characters. It always ended up being Sam and Dean alone again.

One effect of Mulder and Scully being the only main characters on their show was that it made the ship seem sort of inevitable. It made it seem like it was those two characters versus the world, which is inherently kind of romantic. You might THINK that the two protagonists of Supernatural being brothers would rule this out, but you would be wrong. That ship name, if you don’t know, is Wincest (because the brothers’ last name is Winchester). I believe that Wincest is the second biggest ship after Destiel. So yeah, that’s a thing, even when the show was definitely not trying for it. Two main characters with scant supporting cast are gonna be shipped come what may.

Maybe it’s obvious, but I don’t love Supernatural like I do XF. Supernatural has some strengths for sure. But in the end it’s about the smartypants protagonists and the very specific dynamic between them. I love nerdy Mulder and Scully, and I especially love their intellectual sparring, which was written by people who cared about the substance of what they were saying, and not just by people who wanted “banter.”

Second, the acting was top shelf—especially the acting together. Yes, OP, I completely agree, the interplay of GA and DD off of one another? Heart-stopping and enthralling. No shade on Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, who were indeed great on Supernatural … but I’d watch GA and DD do insurance commercials together. It’s a cliche to talk about their chemistry, but there really was something in their scenes.

Finally, yeah, listen, I am emotionally hooked by MSR, and I just don’t think I could go down the Wincest road.

Sorry for the essay, OP. I’m just a really bad ranter, and you unleashed some thoughts I guess lol.

what's really insane about the x-files is that nearly every show that's somewhat followed its formula (bones, lucifer, castle, etc) keeps some amalgamation of mulder and scully as its main couple, but they feel the need to supplement that main couple with an ensemble cast that are in nearly every episode. mulder and scully are pretty much it for the x-files. of course there's skinner and the gunmen, but they don't appear even in a majority of the episodes (and certainly not in a major way). there's probably a lot one could say about why, but i think the reason it works is because scully and mulder are so rich with characterization. for me, they're the closest movie/tv gets to real people, even if their connection to each other is beyond what any of us could have in a normal relationship. they're so multi-faceted, so complex, so contradictory. like, mulder's incredibly empathetic but can be a jerk. scully's by the book but she'll be held in contempt of congress for what matters. even something like scully's relationship with her father is so complicated in a way that it churns out episodes like never again or beyond the sea. the way david duchovny and gillian anderson act against each other on screen is heart-stopping, enthralling. even when they're a trainwreck, you can't look away. it's just so interesting to me how, even when shows are blatantly pulling from the x-files (and are good in their own way!) they're too afraid to really do the x-files. y'know?

It's bad enough now, because we already knew they were obsessed with cherry-picking things completely out of context and twisting themselves in knots to insist D/C, a totally real most epic romance ever was obviously happening off-screen the whole time. Because that's totally how storytelling works!🙄 So why wouldn't they insist Jensen saying Castiel's dying blather doesn't need a resolution means Dean already turned into the YA romance protagonist from their fanfic realized he was totes in lurve with the angel and reciprocated offscreen! See, no resolution needed! The thing is, though, I believe Purcon is one that has a stricter video policy so I expect this to end up even more broken-telephoned in a couple of months when there's no video to dispute whatever they're making up by that point, which I expect to be pretty wild.

What Jensen reportedly said fits exactly into what Castiel actually said in Misha & Beren's tapdancing on the line of legit queerbaiting the audience Castiel's goodbye speech. The whole climactic reason the Empty could come take the angel away was because he realized that just ~*feeling feelings*~, without having anything come of it, was enough. Regardless of whether you interpret those feelings as romantic love or the kind of all-encompassing self-sacrificing love the Winchesters have, feeling that way about somebody is happiness in itself (even if they don't feel that way about you). So yeah, whatever kind of love you read that to mean? There's nothing to inherently resolve there. Castiel put his feelings out in the universe, and Dean listened and moved on with his life. The thing that was "a long time coming" was Castiel's resolving his struggles as an angel living among humans trying to understand emotions and friendship. It's "clear text" that Castiel said I love you (whatever kind of love you interpret that to be).

Hellers are the only ones who desperately need there to have to be a resolution to that scene, because the only interpretation in which a followup would be necessary? Would be if Castiel's speech was romantic AND Dean also had romantic feelings. They can pretend they suddenly don't understand what a resolution is or that one magically (like the entire rest of their supposedly canon ship) happened off-screen so it'll be already happening in the revival as much as they want. It doesn't change what the scene actually was or what Jensen actually said, any more than the rest of their waffle ever has. They're just happily lying to themselves and each other all over again, setting themselves back up for more eternal disappointment. It's like a Peanuts comic strip, except they are both Charlie and Lucy with the show and creators as the football.

They want to crow about Jensen not explicitly saying the scene wasn't about romantic love somehow being him changing his mind (again), but that's absurd. He knows some people interpret Castiel's feelings as romantic and are very invested in the angel being a queer character. Putting aside whether what's in the text deserves that, going out of his way to tell them they're wrong about someone else's character? Would be a really bad look given the sensitivity of the topic. And he doesn't need to do it anyway, because whatever Castiel's ~*feelings*~ are, it says nothing about what Dean does or doesn't feel. Which he directly says is that Dean lost "one of his closest allies" "one of his best friends" "a brother in arms" "one of the closest people to him". It's pretty clear - if you don't tie yourself in knots pretending he's sending you secret signals about what he REALLY means if you only listen to half the words he said.

Here is my break down of the j2 afternoon panel at Dallascon 2022. It is only about Jensen and Misha.

A fan asks a question on behalf of their sister and mentions that the sister loves j2 but loves Jared more and Jensen just randomly says, "Hey Misha, I get that too." Umm Jensen are you okay? Like why would he randomly say that? Was Misha watching him? Was he telling Misha 'see not everyone likes me either so you are not alone' or???? I just thought that it was peculiar to just say that out of the blue.

The next one is when a fan asks that throughout the series a few of the cast members got to drive baby but Cas never got the chance and Jensen says how they don't let Misha operate any machines and so on and so forth and then Jared goes on a rant about how Jensen told him about the "new guy" and you can see Jensen's demeanor changes because he doesn't know what the ranting moose might say in front of his parents. The moment Jared says "then I was like how's the new guy?" Jensen's eyes become so shifty they are moving a mile a second and it reminded me of that time he was asked about the photos of him and Misha and he got really scared and his eyes got shifty until the fan clarified it was about the sunset photos or that other time he was asked about the rug burn on his chin which we later learned that was caused by "fight training" with Misha and Jared. Like he only gets like this when he's been caught unaware especially when it comes to Misha. Okay I know there are probably other times like that but I can't think of any more at the moment. I wish I could gif this moment because the way he looks around like he has been caught with his pants down is just so funny to me. Poor guy that's the problem with having a friend with no control of what they say. They'll say just about anything. Pray for Jensen and his so not subtle crush on Misha circa 2008-day 1. Also, someone explain to me why 13 years later they are still talking about the day Jensen met Misha, like what was so different from meeting anyone else, Jensen tell us more.

Anyway, Jared continues on his rant and mentions that Misha just stood there like children of the corn and Jensen doesn't laugh when everyone else is laughing. He even leans back in his seat to listen to this ranting moose talk about Misha and he just looks stoic like he doesn't want to give away too much of what he's feeling. He was probably internally screaming "please shut up"

And finally, when Jensen talks about the photo ops it's just so funny to me like he is so excited when he talks about Misha. And to make it even funnier it's the way Jared looks at him confused like "oh you are still talking about Misha?" when Jensen starts talking about the cockles photo ops and the way he says it reached a point and they were like "yeah sure let's do it" and he leans back so comfortably in his seat with his whole body relaxed and a smirk on his face. That's the look of a man who enjoyed doing it.

Poor ol' dotty as hell Dot just can't admit such inept attempts at a reverse uno are not going to convince anyone who isn't already eyeballs deep in the cult. We respect most of the supporting cast just fine. We just recognize they were in a proportional fraction of the show and lack authority to speak about it beyond their very limited involvement. Especially if they're trying to speak over or contrary to others with more authority (or if they constantly change their stories). Unlike Dot and her ilk who want to pretend Jared and Jensen don't have any right to speak on their characters or the overarching themes, despite being involved in every single episode of the show and being the only ones on the cast regularly allowed to make changes. No matter how much or how little of the show they were in, only people who tell us what we want to hear have the right to speak about it! You don't say.

We understand that hating any individual character or actor has sweet fuckall to do with media literacy, just personal preference and (over)investment. Dot and her weirdo crew want to make hating Jared/Sam while worshiping Misha/Cass and their fanon Dean/blowup doll version of Jensen some kind of righteous moral stance everyone has to agree with because ... wahhhh my ship!!!

Yes, we are the actual fans of the tv show, Supernatural. We know the show was about the brothers before everyone else because it's right there out in the open, obvious as hell. The arcs that actually existed in the show revolved around that premise, season after season, and the finale hammered it home. There's no projection or interpretation required, it's literally right fucking there. This is the CW's Supernatural not highbrow literature, erudition my ass.

They're only fans of their own imaginations, which would be fine if they didn't insist that was actually the show despite, you know, the show. Forget the obvious thematic arcs smacking us in the face, forget what the characters blatantly said and did over and over! No, no, no, there must be super secret hidden clues to the REAL meaning in there for the REAL fans! True understanding of the show could only come from those who furiously wrote thousands upon thousands of words of meta trying to interpret a romantic arc into existence by sheer force of word vomit from random minutiae! Just because it never once was part of the actual narrative doesn't mean it wasn't totes real! When they're trying to pretend that's not all they care about, they insist the bare couple of times in fifteen years characters said family is more than blood was totally an arc more central than the brothers relationship by the end - you only have to ignore almost literally everything the brothers actually did and the vast majority of what they said. It was there! It was! Network sabotage! Homophobia! Help, help, I'm being oppressed by a tv show not being rewritten to my personal specifications! I'm a REAL fan of the show, I deserve to dictate what it's about! But it totally was about what I say it was about! There is absolutely no contradiction here!

Which doesn't even get into the bizarre creative reinterpretation acrobatics of insisting Misha was a lead because he was on some magazine covers sometimes. Sure, he didn't have the screentime or the billing but maGAzInE cOvERs! So even if he constantly changes his story, that's more valid than anything Jared ever says! They also listen to Jensen! Just because they creatively reinterpret or selectively ignore what he says, mostly to pretend he means literally the opposite of what he's actually saying, that doesn't mean they don't! (Either that or they insist he's a poor backwards yokel idiot who will soon Learn To Do Better.)

We have the show. We don't have to pretend huge swaths of it don't exist or have secret hidden meanings directly contradicting the explicit ones. We have J2, who don't constantly contradict their own stories about the show and their characters' places in it.

Hellers and other malcontents like Dot have literally nothing but projection, reinterpretation, bonkers conspiracy theories, and Misha's desperation for money. You just need a super secret decoder ring and it becomes very clear ... that they need to get a fucking grip already, it's been four years!

Re: previous nonJ2 fan Anon - of course they’re right! Everyone knows something only happened if there’s a picture posted online, so if there are no pictures of Jensen and Misha together after a con or times in between, it must not have happened, right? 😂

The thing is, there are pictures, at least one I recall, that proves that at least after one jibcon jensen and misha stayed for 2-3 days in Rome when everybody else left:

The date says March 5th 2017, I don't know when the previous jibcon ended, can anyone confirm if this picture was taken days after the con? Anyway, as far as I know this picture was taken 2-3 days later, and the fan spotted Jensen and Misha, only the 2 of them at the airport.

In between: no fan reports, but Jensen himself confirmed he and Misha went to visit the Vatican and had a private mass. Only the 2 of them.

Before: I'm not sure about this one but I heard that at Honcon Jensen didn't need to travel to Hawaii yet (his panel was like 1 or 2 days later) and yet he came in advance "for no reasons"(lol), and then fans spotted him with Misha in a restaurant. Only the 2 of them.

So anon, according to your own logic... yes, it happened, and several times.

And I'm going to bring this back:

This happened after the EW photoshoot. Jensen and Misha stayed a few days more in Los Angeles and visited their friend. Only the 2 of them together. No Jared in sight, who was also at the EW photoshoot but apparently he left right after finshing.

But the most striking thing about this is the fact that they were in a hospital, with hundreds of visitors, medical staff and patients, and yet nobody noticed them or at least didn't bother them to take pictures. This further confirms they are private enough to be in public spaces and not to be seen or bothered by fans.

Oh one last thing: I know this happened at a con (dallascon) but it's still very telling

Idk when these pictures were taken, but it wasn't during their scheduled con duties. They took a bit of their sparse free time that weekend and let Chris (one of CE's official photographers) to take these photos. 2 separate pics, but you can obviously see it was at the same place and same time. Once again, only the 2 of them together.

Why Do I Have to Feel Like a Fucking Conspiracy Theorist -- OR -- How I Find a Semblance of Peace on Sunday Night

I’m also going to start this out with a GIANT DISCLAIMER.

I am about to theorize about what may have happened to the SPN finale. I have absolutely no insider knowledge. I am merely speculating here based on the panels and a bunch of Twitter and Tumblr posts that I have been reading over the last few days. If you are not in a good place to read such things, TURN BACK PLEASE. Go take care of yourself and your mental health. You and your feelings are valid and deserve to be handled gently right now.

Additionally, if you are here to give me shit for being unhappy with the ending, please walk away as well. I am here to reach out and share my feelings with people who might be struggling to make sense of something that upset some of us in very deep-seated ways. I am not here to bother you or critique you or tell you that you’re lesser because you liked the ending. If you felt it was good, then go enjoy it.

Long-ass post beneath the cut, everyone.

Alrighty folks...I debated whether or not to do this because I have been spiraling down the hell that is the SPN finale since Thursday. The travesty of what happened to our show--to this beloved show that seemed to have been so perfectly and precisely written for at least four years that it had basically already paved its own tarmac on which to land its plane and we all thought we knew exactly what we were going to get. And then we didn’t. We had a nigh Cas-less and entirely Eileen-less ending. We had no goodbye between Cas and Jack. We had Dean dying young after finally finding his freedom, only to ascend to heaven with no one but Bobby. We had the weird, weird, weird incest-y death scene. We had the bridge crane shot thing because...sure. You do you, Robert Singer.

It was so terrible, so truly awful, and I couldn’t seem to square any of it with anything we had known going in. I tossed and turned and cried and didn’t eat or sleep all weekend. I spent hours just reloading tumblr and twitter, going to the Misha panel, reading and reading and listening and trying to figure out what the fucking hell is going on because I needed to know exactly where to direct my anger. And after a fuckton of talking with @winchester-reload, I think we have at least a very plausible theory about what happened here--I’m laying it out below as much for my own peace of mind as anything else, because otherwise all of these thoughts are going to continue to spin around in my head for weeks and I won’t be able to do jack shit.

Now to start off, unfortunately I do think Dean was slated to die from the beginning of this season. I don’t know WHY they thought that was the best way to go, and I wish they had listened to Jensen on this one. Part of me wonders if it was an order from on high based on the discussion between Becky and Chuck earlier this season--the writers knew it wasn’t a great choice, but they were trying to signal to us that we should feel free to write our own endings to the story because they’d be better (I can wax poetic on the signs of why many of the writers probably wanted Dean to live, but that’s another post). I’m not defending that choice by any means, just laying it out there that I think they didn’t necessarily all want to kill Dean like they did.

However, what I THINK I can explain now is what happened with Misha and why we got so jerked around with Cas’s story. Consider what we know (I can’t immediately source all of it, but I did my best):

At the end of episode 15x19, Lucifer has been returned to the Empty after being killed AGAIN. He talks with Cas. Maybe harasses him a bit about Dean, idk. But then...Jack shows up. New God Jack. And he picks up Cas and pulls him out of the Empty, leaving Lucifer behind, because seriously. Fuck that guy (also leaving behind his abusive father is character growth for Jack, so yay for that).

-Misha was contracted to film 15 episodes this season. He was only in 14.

-Misha told Michael Sheen he had to go back to film 1.5 episodes after the shutdown in March. (Starts at 6:13)

-Misha was in Vancouver during filming of the finale.

-Mark P said at Darklight Con that the last scene he filmed was with Alex and Misha (and Mark P was only in episode 19).

-Misha implied that he was present for various filming moments, including Dean’s death (start at 35:15), and said that it felt like a “mini-reunion.”

-Various sources have mentioned that Jimmy Novak was supposed to be in the finale.

-After episode 18, Stands tweeted a fan who was angered and hurt by Cas's death that they could talk about the “bury the gays” issue after the finale aired.

-In episode 19 we know there were takes of the parking lot scene where the only thing fans observing could hear was Dean yelling “CAS” at Chuck (fuck I can’t find this one right now, but it’s definitely out there)

-Also in episode 19, we had a very strange, awkward montage at the end of the episode.

-In episode 20, we know there were a FUCKTON of missing scenes

-We also had no opening montage, but three other separate montages.

-Carry on My Wayward Son was played TWICE, back-to-back at the end of the episode.

-Episode 20 was shorter than normal and had surprisingly little dialogue. The pacing was VERY strange.

-The cast and crew has been almost completely silent about the finale since it came out. When they have spoken, it has been with an awkward excuse of “Uh...COVID?”

-Samantha Ferris has specifically noted that, despite the Harvelle’s being back in play and a big heaven reunion having been planned pre-COVID, neither she nor Chad Lindberg received any such invitation to return.

-Cas and Dean POP Funko figures were pictured together in a replica of Harvelle’s in 15x04.

NOW with all of this in mind (and I’m probably missing some stuff too because there is so much--feel free to add on to that list), please bear with me because here is what I think we were SUPPOSED to get POST-COVID (after it was determined that the reunion couldn’t happen because of the virus):

In episode 20, we start with our NORMAL OPENING MONTAGE, like always. It traces everything that happened during the season. We are reminded of Cas. The confession. Rowena. Eileen. Jack. Billie, God, the Empty, all of it. 

Things then follow along in the episode where they did up until Dean dies and wakes up in heaven. After his conversation with Bobby, he drives off to find Cas (who, in the script, was listed as “Jimmy Novak” in order to protect against script leaks--who wouldn’t want to do their best to avoid spoilers about the finale with the wrapping of a fifteen-year show?). He does indeed find Cas. We get Dean’s end of the confession. Hell, maybe we even get a kiss. And then Dean sets up his new heaven home in the recreated Harvelle’s. Maybe Cas even fucking moves in. 

Years pass. We get Sam having his life on Earth (still can’t explain why they cut Eileen and couldn’t even have Sam signing vaguely to the blurry brunette in the background; if anyone wants to take that on, go for it). Eventually, Cas tells Dean that it’s almost Sam’s time. Dean takes Baby and goes to meet Sam at the bridge. The cover of Carry on My Wayward Son plays during this much shorter sequence. End of episode.

But that’s not what we got. Instead, much of what I just wrote about was excised from the episode. The remnants were stitched together after shooting had been wrapped. Filler was added in the form of montages and long, unnecessary extra shots to get the episode to something approaching a reasonable length. 

But why? Why would they spend all that time and money and quarantining on Misha, only to almost completely cut him out of the finale? I struggled with why the fuck the CW would want this mammoth show to go down as the greatest queerbait in TV history when they had the chance to do something truly beautiful and monumental with it? It couldn’t just be sheer homophobia, right? Well, I think that factored into it, my friends, but here is where my head is at right now.

It was about cold, hard cash.

Now I could be wrong, but this is what I’m thinking at the moment: Supernatural is going off of the air. Supernatural, the CW’s cash cow for fifteen years. Sure there is still money to be made on blu-rays and merchandise and cons...but they need people watching their shows. They need that sweet advertising revenue. And you know what show they have about to premiere? A show that could, potentially, bring with it a chunk of that SPN revenue?

Walker.

And if any of you know anything about the original Walker Texas Ranger, you know that the show was predominantly a show about a very heterosexual white man being very excessively heterosexual. And for SOME REASON over the years, many of the execs at the CW still seem to think that this show, Supernatural, is really attractive to a lot of middle-American white men...whom they desperately want to watch this new show with this guy from Supernatural that they already know.

Now here’s where COVID fucked us. I think Destiel was greenlit by TPTB, at least in SOME form, before COVID. But then the pandemic happened, and they panicked. They got the cut of the last two episodes and watched them in their original, probably queer form. And then, the execs at CW looked at the economy. They looked at their cash cow, about to make its journey to the great beyond. And they looked at this new little calf Walker that they were so desperately worried about. And they made a choice.

They decided that it would be too risky to take the step with Destiel. They were worried about frightening off their ever-so-valuable hetero male demographic with the possibility that a traditionally masculine man in his 40s could be in love with another man in an overt way. It was homophobia mixed with greed, spun up by fear for their revenues because of COVID.

So they called in Singer, possibly Dabb, although I wouldn’t be surprised if they went straight to Singer. They told them that Destiel had to go: executive orders. And the only way to make it go in a way that removed any trace of what had been there was to rewrite what happened to Cas and cut him out from the last two episodes entirely. It was too late to reshoot anything. They had to just cut and stitch and fill with bullshit montages. 

They removed the scene at the end of 19, probably because Cas and Lucifer discussed Dean. All that was left of Misha there was his voice on that fake phone call. They may have cut other things too, but I would bet my life that they cut a scene from the end of the episode and replaced it with that very strange montage. Then they moved onto 20. They cut out every scene with Cas. And left in only two platonic mentions of him, neither made by Dean. They tried to imply that Cas might show up in Dean’s heaven at some point, but that was as far as the editors could go in the time they had. They filled in with montages, awkwardly long shots, anything they could do to fill all of those missing scenes.

And they even had to take the opening montage, because literally everything in it pointed to Cas being there at the end of it all. They wouldn’t be able to leave out his scenes, they were too critical to the season. They couldn’t cut his confession without raising eyebrows. So they cut the whole thing and moved “Carry On My Wayward Son” to one of the newly-added driving montages at the end. Which is why we awkwardly had both songs play back-to-back--again, such a strange choice unless they were out of options and couldn’t exactly buy rights to a new track or compose anything else.

And so we were left with the shadow of the finale that we deserved, that Cas and Dean deserved. We were left without resolution or happiness or words. Bobo told us the most important thing about happiness is just “saying it” and our characters were silenced without anyone ever knowing the truth.

I think the writers might have known and been given the new party line that “Misha never filmed, he couldn’t, sorry, it was COVID, no one’s fault!” But I don’t think most of the cast even knew it had happened until they watched the finale on Thursday with us (though they might have been confused why the bit from 15x19 was sliced, they could reasonably have assumed it was a time thing and also BL episodes don’t make sense anyway). Why do I say that?

Well, first of all, Misha started sending out a bunch of excited texts to fans with some old BTS pictures about an hour before the show started airing on EST. He also wanted his children to see the episode, his YOUNG children. Why would he show them such a traumatic episode if their Dad wasn’t in it? What if it was because he wanted them to witness what was going to be a monumental moment in queer television history that their DAD got to be a part of? And then that was all dashed.

Which is why I think the cast and crew went almost completely radio silent the next day. I don’t think they knew. And based on how they have been acting on social media since then, I think many of them are absolutely furious, but they have been silenced because of NDAs, because they want to find work again in a cutthroat industry, because they don’t want to bring down the hellfire of Warner Brothers Entertainment upon themselves. So the most we have gotten is a little acknowledgement from the MERCHANDISING COMPANY trying to validate our pain (god bless Shirts, she is a LIFESAVER) and a response to my salty tweet about keeping good stuff in the closet from Adam Williams (the VFX coordinator) that seemed to acknowledge the validity of my complaint.

Then there was a scramble behind the scenes, I would bet my life. Talking points were fed to the boys who had panels today, to CE, to all the cast and crew:

Toe the party line. Misha never filmed. This was always about COVID. Do not mention Destiel. Do not mention Dean’s feelings for Cas. Do not promote the Castiel Project or anything that validates the idea that this was anything less than a superb ending.

And that is why we have heard so little from the cast on this front, and what we have heard has been muddled and contradictory. That is why the writers are saying nothing. That is why we have been left adrift.

Now before I close this out, I do want to say that I really, genuinely do not think this was on the writers at all. I feel like they tried to give us the best ending that they could, in a writers room that we know is notorious for splitting along party lines about the overall story (BL and Singer, who have always been about the brothers and their man-pain vs. Dabb and the rest who always seemed to want more for them and for Cas). I think they did everything in their power to at least end with Dean and Cas happy together. If they could give us nothing else, they wanted to give us that. And then the network took it from them. From us. From everyone.

For the sake of fucking money. 

And the WORST PART OF IT ALL, for me, is that in the wake of this disaster, the fans have been left to try and figure out what happened. We have had to wade through a mire of conflicting information in the midst of all of our collective anger and grief over this garbage ending of a show many of us have loved and even relied on for YEARS, all the while wondering if we’re just fucking crazy, if we have all fallen collectively into the hole of conspiracy theories. That hurts ESPECIALLY badly because we have taken so many hits over the years from other groups on social media saying we were crazy for seeing things that weren’t there (especially Destiel), for writing meta and analyzing tropes and believing the evidence of our eyes and ears. The network has made us relive that entire nightmare WHILE processing our grief for a show we wanted so badly to celebrate and which instead we now have to mourn.

So again guys, I cannot prove that this is exactly what happened at all; this is simply my idea of what may have happened. But right now, it’s the most sense I can make from this mess, and to be honest, the act of typing it out has helped me enormously in my processing of it all. I feel like I can see more clearly, like I know where to target my outrage and where to direct empathy. I feel like just fucking maybe, I might be able to do my job tomorrow without bursting into tears at random moments. 

I really hope that this post has helped some of you to, in some small way, process this too. We get through this the way that Misha told us at his panel this morning, the way the writers have told us to do all season long...we throw out the story God gave us and we make it better. We write our characters the happy endings they deserve. 

We save them.

jensen ackles:

ooh, thinking about all our younger years, there was only you and me, we were young and wild and free. 

tears streamed down his face as he remembered the joy he had with you in this life and how that joy was now no longer around. you and jensen ackles were only married for just less than three months when out of what felt like nowhere, you fell ill and were diagnosed with a terminal illness that changed everything for you and jensen and all the dreams you two had with each other now that you were mr and mrs ackles, were swirling down the drain as you two started your short move-in to the hospital as an in-patient. 

whilst in the hospital, you and jensen but, jensen in particular, would think about your guys' younger years from the day you fell in love with each other, when it was only you two before supernatural was even a thing and when you were young, wild and free. and, other times, it'd just be silent in your hospital room because there would be times when jensen couldn't just stop working with supernatural entirely even though if it was that way, all of the supernatural cast wouldn't be working and helping their castmate and best friend through this journey but, they weren't allowed to because they were a tv show and they were always having to be filming or on tv in an interview. and today was one of the days where jensen thankfully praise god, got a day off of work whilst the other main three [jared, misha and alex] covered for him during a media interview and he was with you at the hospital. however, this was the day he wished jared, misha and alex weren't at an interview...

...because the moment he heard that all-too-familiar beeping sound that only seemed to get louder and more abrasive, he only wished that he had his three best friends with him. he could barely even yank his phone out of his pocket in time before he heard the rush of footsteps coming up from behind him...

...turning around, tears welling in his blue eyes, jensen never expected to see his castmates who were also his best friends rush through the hospital hallway when he hadn't even taken his phone out of his pocket to tell them. that was when he remembered who else was in the hospital with him, his mom donna had joined jensen and was the one who had contacted jared, misha and alex. 

"...jensen...we heard the news about y.n from your mom, is she okay?" jared questioned, bringing his arms up to jensen's shoulders as he just shakes his head, his tears streaming down his cheeks slowly 

"she...she's gone j..." jensen whispered as he felt his heart breaking as he fell forward, jared only just catching him as he hugged jensen as tightly as he could as it just set into jared, misha and alex's heads that the code blue they were hearing was y.n's - they were seconds too late 

"...jensen..." jared whispered, not knowing what else to say as jensen collapsed to the floor, jared going down with him as jensen cried and cried and cried, misha and alex joining the two of them seconds later as they joined jared in comforting their best friend 

jensen cried on that hospital floor in his best friends' arms for how long, he had no idea but it felt like forever when the nurse who took care of y.n had basically confirmed what was already known and it broke jensen's heart even more. 

"...mr ackles, i am really sorry but, there was nothing we could do to resuscitate your wife. if you, your mother and your friends would like to, you guys can come in to say your final farewells..." the female nurse spoke softly as jensen shakily stood up, jared helping him as the rest of them stood up as well 

"...thank you, doctor..." jensen trailed off, wanting to say something else but, he couldn't, he didn't know what else to say other than a weakened "thank you" as he loosened himself away from jared and walked in on his own 

jared, misha and alex watched on with broken hearts as their best friend and their castmate basically collapsed to his knees and hugged his now-deceased wife, wishing for her to just wake up and to "stop being a fucking twat, y.n". and well, jensen's mom donna, she felt as though it wasn't the right time for her to stay so, with a quick touch to jared, she silently excused herself out of the hospital back to her car to go back home. 

speaking up, jared bit his lip, "what are we going to do now?" tears welled in his eyes for his best friend who had now become a widower less than three months after marrying as misha and alex, who were also teary-eyed, shook their heads in unknowing 

"i have no clue, jared...all i know is that jensen's going to need us more than he's ever needed us and we have to be there for him through all of it," misha responded as jared and alex nodded their heads in agreement 

"absolutely. but, we need to be ready for all five stages of grief, we can't just be there for him when he's going through the depression stage. we also have to be there for him when he's in denial, when he's bargaining and wishing it was him that got sick, when he's mad over it all and then, when he eventually comes to some sort of acceptance over this whole situation, we have to be there for every single part of it..." alex gulped as he placed his hand over his heart, only able to imagine the heartache that his best friend was going through and it broke his heart that jensen wasn't imagining it 

jared, misha and alex joined jensen in y.n's hospital room minutes later and comforted him as he wept and wished it was him laying in that hospital bed over his wife. after that though, after jensen cleaned himself up, he took it upon himself to remember his wife and all the memories he shared with her. the four talked, cried and laughed together as they shared their favourite memories of y.n ackles with each other and, whilst that wasn't going to fix jensen's hole in his heart straight away, it was a small stepping stone that was the foundation. 

jared padalecki:

now our dreams are coming true, through the good times and the bad, i'll be standing there by you 

nicky hadn't been any happier before in his life. he was starring in the biggest sci-fi show in the world, he had the life he dreamt of and he was married to the love of his life, y.n padalecki and he couldn't have wished for anything else. 

kissing his now-wife's ear, he whispers, "...do you think our guests would notice if we just...left the reception?" jared smiled as y.n giggled, grabbing her husband's hand 

"yes, they totally would, jared! we are not going to do that! besides, the speeches haven't started yet, we'll leave during cocktail hour, okay?" y.n giggled as jared rolled his eyes but agreed with his wife 

"...jared...jared...jare..."

"...jared!" y.n giggled softly as she snapped her fingers in front of her husband's face

jared looked up from his phone, his tears welling in his eyes as y/n's smile fades immediately and grabs her husband's phone out of his hand, slips it into her back pocket and pulls her husband in for a hug. 

"what was the phone call about, babe? it felt like it was going on forever..." y.n trailed off as jared sniffled, not wanting to start his sobfest now, especially in somewhere as public as the austin airport 

"...steve...umm, one of [best friend's] workmates went up to check on him since he didn't respond to me or his mom's calls and umm, he...[best friend's] been taken to the hospital and they..." jared's voice caught as y.n's eyes widened and her heart broke and, just like her husband, tears welled in her eyes 

"...oh, honey, is...is that why you ran off the plane you were supposed to be on?" y.n whispered as jared turned around, grabbing y.n's hand so they could run to their car to get to the hospital 

and, as they started to run, jared started to talk again, "yes...i...i think he's dead, and it absolutely terrifies me that i could have found out when i got to vancouver..." jared sniffled as he closed his eyes, only wishing he wasn't close to breaking down in the airport as he and his wife ran through the halls 

"...jared...babe..." y.n wished she could think of something but it was kind of hard when she was running no...being pulled...through the austin airport back to their car to drive to the hospital 

she then halted the both of them and spoke up after quickly catching her breath, "...jared, have you called the hospital to ask them if [best friend] is okay, first?" she questioned, it broke her heart to think that jared would go straight to the thought that his best friend could be dead without even ringing up the hospital to check first 

and, it was at that moment that y.n gave her husband his phone back and jared rang up austin state hospital...

austin state hospital 

"austin state hospital, rebecca speaking who is..."

"...you've admitted somebody here, [best friend's full name], and i'm just wanting to see how he is?"

"and, who are you?" 

"i...i'm his best friend!"

"you need to come to the hospital, you don't need to rush but you need to come into the hospital!"  

"thank you...bye..."

and before the receptionist from austin state hospital could say her piece, jared ended the phone call and sobbed the tears he tried his best to hold back when he had to tell her that he was his best friend's friend. y.n bit her lip as she just looked at her husband as he looked back at her and shook his head as her eyes widened and a tear slipped from her cheek, causing tears to stream down jared's. 

"...what did she say, jared?" y.n sniffled, wiping her tear away as she moved closer to her husband as he covered his face before his hand reached his hair 

"she...she said that i...we need to come to the hospital but we don't need to rush...y.n, i...i was correct. [best friend]...[best friend's] dead and i was nearly on a plane to vancouver..." jared sniffled as his voice broke as y.n shook her head, not wanting jared to blame himself as her heart broke even more than her husband's suspicion was correct 

"...oh, babe...no, don't blame yourself for having to leave for work! besides, i think we should listen to what the receptionist lady said and make our way to the hospital, maybe there you'd still have somewhat of a chance to say one final goodbye?" she knew that last part could have come off as insulting and anything but helpful but, she was lost with what to say since all of her best friends were very much alive and she now had no idea the emotions and grief nicky was going to go through 

jared nodded his head, knowing what y.n meant and tried to wipe away his tears as the padalecki's finally reached their car in the airport parking lot and started their drive down to austin state hospital - the last place they wanted to be in november 2016. 

 by the time jared and y.n padalecki arrived at the hospital, it had been announced that jared's best friend had indeed been pronounced dead from what seemed to be a suspected suicide but, of course, the cause couldn't be confirmed until the autopsy report had been performed and finalised. and, jared was absolutely distraught and broken to the ground, of course, he was, his best friend was his best friend and now, bam, 100 days after they had gone through the same devastation with a different best friend, they were doing it all over again with this specific best friend. and, y.n had no idea what to do to help her husband, she did think about ringing up [the other best friend's] wife but, she thought that seemed a bit crude since, technically, it hadn't been that long since [other best friend] had died and she was probably still doing all she could do to console her husband of the other deceased best friend. so, the next best thing y.n did was to just simply, be that shoulder for jared to cry on and her ears for jared to cry and rant to and to remind him that he couldn't just not eat or drink anything for a whole day because that is unhealthy and he needs to eat and drink. it also meant that when she knew that the phone calls and funeral planning were getting too much for her husband, she'd send him upstairs to their bedroom to sleep alongside their son, thomas. 

after going back and forth with jared about why he should go upstairs to have a sleep, you spoke up again, "...and i understand you want to help your best friend's mom, i get it, sweetheart. but, babe, look at the state of you, you are not in the right state of mind to be on the phone with his family and the funeral directors. there's a reason why his mom has been attempting to be this strong and it's because she has to. so, i'll ask you again, go upstairs to our room and i'll take care of this. what you need is sleep. you are wrecked and the only way you'll be able to continue is if you rest and take care of yourself. you are not okay, jared, you just lost your best friend..." she trailed off as jared's eyes closed and he covered his face with his hands 

she hated that she made her husband cry, of course, she did but, they both knew that it would be better for jared to rest with their little boy and for y.n to continue just for the moment. as she watched her husband with their shared son go upstairs for a nap, she remembered why she married her husband and this was the reason - so she could be there during the good and the bad times. 

misha collins:

ooh once in your life you'll find someone who will turn your world around, bring you up when you're feeling down, yeah nothing can change what you mean to me

she couldn't believe that misha collins wanted to talk with her. she didn't even think that misha knew who she was but, apparently he did because, when she arrived at school and opened up her locker, a piece of paper slipped out. when she opened it, she found a letter from misha and it read, "hey y.n, meet me at the school's lecture theatre first period. misha collins xx" and, he even left her two kisses on the letter! surely that means that like, misha's into her, right? well, she would find out soon since the first period starts at eight thirty-five am and it was currently eight thirty am so, only five more minutes before she'd be with misha and finding out what it was that he wanted to tell her. so, with her geography textbook in her hands and misha's handwritten letter on top of it, she began her walk to the school's lecture theatre...

...arriving at exactly eight thirty-five am on the dot, she waited in slight confusion for misha only to jump out of her skin when someone did walk in, only for the person that walked in to be the very person that wrote the note. giggling in slight embarrassment, y.n bit her lip and tamed her hair, curling it behind her ear as she stepped closer, handing misha the letter, gesturing to him to explain what it was he wanted since she was missing period one, something she had never done before since she was always known as northfield's goody two shoes. 

smiling, misha happily spoke up, "...i...i didn't think you'd actually skip geography, y.n, wow, you're not just a goody two shoes..." he laughed as y.n giggled too as she shrugged, her geography textbook hugging her chest 

"...so, what is it you wanted to meet me here for? this couldn't wait until break or my study-free period since we're seniors?" y.n teased as misha shrugged his shoulders this time as he huffed 

"i just...i've been meaning to tell you something for a while since i know you've been sort of, f...fawning over me lately and i wanted to tell you that, i...i also like you like that..." 

"...y.n...y.n...hello, earth to y.n?" snapping to get her best friend's attention was something danielle collins has had to do for ages now, ever since misha collins, danielle's older brother, started dating vicki vantoch

"yeah, sorry dani, what...what did you say?" y.n gulped, clearing her throat as danielle sighed sadly, her shoulders sagging 

danielle knew of the history y.n and her brother, misha, had had during their senior year of high school and the first few years of y.n's college years until 2000 when misha wanted to be an actor and misha started realising that he was growing apart from his high school sweetheart and falling in love with someone else. and, whilst it was utterly painful to watch this unrequited love between her best friend and brother, she knew that being invited to her unrequited former lover's wedding in maine was doing anything but helping those feelings. danielle and y.n had gone out to the boutique to find themselves dresses for the wedding, dresses that weren't too out there but were still nice since it was a maine wedding where the dress code wasn't too formal but rather comfortable. 

"i said, y.n, i personally think it was quite low of misha and vicki to invite you considering the history of you and him but, it can't be any worse for you though..." danielle trailed off as y.n smiled and shook her head, her hands shuffling through the dress rack 

"...i don't think so...i think it was actually quite sweet of them to invite me..." she trails off as she pulls out a dress she thought she liked the look of but immediately grimaced and placed it back, making danielle giggle 

"...sweet? why do you think it was sweet of them to invite you?" danielle questioned after reeling in her giggles from the dress fiasco as y.n sighs and rolls her eyes, moving her back towards the clothes rack and to danielle with her arms crossed over her chest 

"i think it's sweet because it means that they clearly trust me enough that one, i'm not going to do anything silly like object to their wedding and two, they still care about me because, honestly, vicki is the sweetest girl out there and, i'm truly happy that it's vicki that misha's marrying, i wouldn't want him to be marrying me at all..." y.n trailed off as danielle was shocked as she tried to find any inkling in y.n's face that she was lying but, danielle couldn't, her best friend was not lying at all 

"...seriously? you wouldn't want misha to be marrying you but victoria vantoch instead? why? i always wished it was you that misha married eventually..." danielle trailed off as y.n giggled as she sighs 

"...absolutely, vicki is the right one for misha and misha is the right one for vicki. i was only meant to be a short-term relationship and i'm okay with that. i knew from that day at school, back in the school lecture theatre when he first talked to me, that it wasn't going to last longer or reach a ring and a marriage and truthfully, i think you knew that too but, you just didn't want to believe it. so you tried your absolute hardest to hate the guts out of vicki when she just fell in love with the same boy i did who realised that he finally found the love of his life who wasn't me. and you hate that because you wanted it to be me even though you knew in your sub-conscious that it was never going to be me and because you don't actually hate the guts out of vicki, you just hate that your older brother found the love of his life and it wasn't who you always wished it to be..." y.n finished as danielle gulped and locked her jaw, crossing her arms over her chest as she sighed, nodding her head as y.n felt herself flashback to that day that misha asked her to be his girlfriend 

"...y.n...y.n...earth to y.n? hello? y.n y.l.n!" misha snaps his fingers with a giggle as the girl blinks and shakes her head with a small giggle 

"sorry misha, what did you say? i didn't catch that..." y.n gulped, she totally heard what misha said, she just couldn't believe the words that came out of his mouth after the very vague note he had scribbled down and placed in her locker earlier that morning 

"...i said, i like you a lot, y.n and i was wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend and if i could pick you up this friday to take you out on a date to the movies..." misha repeated and y.n smiled, her mind was not playing tricks on her and misha did ask her to be his girlfriend and to take her out on a date 

even though she knew this relationship wasn't going to end in them getting married and having a family together, y.n nodding her head and responded, "...of course, i'll be your girlfriend and i'd love it if you could pick me up on friday to take me to the movies, what movie were you thinking of?" y.n bit her lip as she could tell that misha was also relieved that she said yes and he smiled 

"i was thinking my girl with macaluly culkin and anna chlumsky to then pick you up at around, six thirty pm as the movie starts at around seven and then drop you home afterwards?" misha proposed as y.n smiled and nodded her head which made misha feel so much better

"i'd like that...wait, isn't my girl supposedly like, really really sad? i don't wanna cry in the cinema, that's so embarrassing, mish!" y.n started but then trailed off in worry that seeing titanic with misha in the cinemas would make her cry as misha giggled and bit his lip 

"yeah...it is said to be quite the emotional rollercoaster but, i made sure to buy seats right at the back since i'm also quite the crier so you won't be the only one crying so, my girl at six thirty on friday?" misha giggled with a hint of embarrassment as y.n felt butterflies in her tummy hearing that misha was a crier as she nodded her head 

"that sounds perfect, thanks misha, see you then?" y.n trailed off as the bell for period two had rung, meaning that y.n had to rush to her locker to grab her political studies textbook and explain to her teacher why she was late as misha smiled 

"yeah, if we don't see each other in political studies..." misha winked as y.n giggled, remembering they had period two together 

"...y.n, seriously? how many times do i have to snap my fingers in your face today? did you hear what i asked you?" danielle sighed in exasperation as y.n blinked back into reality with a sorry look towards danielle

"i'm sorry dani, i only got two hours of sleep last night, bambi and pascal were barking all through the night because of the fireworks on the main street, what did you ask me?" y.n apologised as danielle softened up, she knew how loud her two huskies, bambi and pascal got whenever the austin council let off fireworks during a random day on the main street 

"don't apologise, i asked where you and misha went for your first date since i don't think you ever managed to tell me or elizabeth and sasha what you guys did even though you promised us you would," danielle giggled as y.n did too, how on earth did misha or her forget to tell their first date to their best friends and siblings after promising they would 

"oh my god, did we not tell you guys?" y.n was shocked, how did they never tell anyone about their first date back in 1991 and only now in 2001, ten years after the fact as danielle shook her head 

"no, you guys never ended up telling us, you didn't even give us a slither of a clue after we all begged and begged you two to tell us, you guys just went straight to the cafeteria for lunch and by the time you came back, there was no use to ask you again since you two were avoiding telling us at all costs..." danielle smiled as she trailed off as y.n smiled, remembering that friday evening like it was yesterday 

"...well, it wasn't too crazy. all we did was, misha picked me up at six thirty pm that friday night for a seven pm showing of my girl and after the film was over, he drove the both of us back to my place. misha did originally plan on driving back home but, we didn't seem to take into account how long the movie was and we didn't get home until like, nine thirtyish in the evening and mom was hellbent on having misha spend the night since it had started to rain seconds after misha and i got home and, because she didn't want misha to drive back to his place in the rain, she rang up your parents and explained to them that misha was staying overnight at ours and that he'd return back home in the morning the next day. so, we had some fish and chips and watched another movie that was on the tv and then we went upstairs to my room, he stayed in my room and we slept in my bed but, there was no touching, no cuddling, no sex, no nothing. misha was quite respectful of my space on my bed and i was quite respectful of his space on the bed and we fell asleep. when we woke up the next morning, we got dressed, me in my room and misha in the bathroom and then went downstairs for some breakfast when misha then left since the rain had died down during the evening while we were asleep and that's what our first date was, nothing too crazy, nothing too special, just something lowkey and it was great..." y.n trailed off as danielle smiled the whole time 

"...then if it was just that, then why didn't you guys tell us? what was so embarrassing that you couldn't tell your best friend and sister?" danielle grilled as y.n scoffed out a laugh as they sat on y.n's bed as danielle gestured for her best friend to tell her 

"fine, i'll tell you. we both cried our eyes out during the movie and, we didn't want to tell you guys because, knowing the three of you, sasha, elizabeth and you, you would have laughed at us if we told you my girl made us cry so, we just decided not to tell you at all..." y.n shrugged as danielle gasped in offence that she wasn't told ten years ago 

"...how dare you say that we'd laugh at the both of you for crying during my girl! i'll have you know, i watched it with my now husband, noah and sasha in 1992 during a break in between the college terms and we both sobbed our eyes out, why didn't you tell us then after i had rung you in such emotional duress over the movie?" danielle howled in shock and mock offence as y.n laughed wholeheartedly at her best friend 

"jesus christ, can you be any more dramatic, danielle? but, i'm sorry, okay? we just forgot to tell you since we started to go on more dates more frequently to the point where we started to forget what we had done the week before. it wasn't that we intentionally hid it from you guys, we truly did want to tell you," y.n giggled, sighing at the end as danielle smiled

"it's alright, i was being dramatic besides, if misha and vicki's wedding is tomorrow, we should probably go to sleep since we have to wake up kind of early to make sure we catch our flight in time since we've finished packing everything we need," danielle suggested as y.n agreed and nodded her head, slithering herself into her bedsheets, danielle following suite, knowing that danielle's husband and y.n's friend, noah, was doing the same thing a couple of rooms down from them 

"agreed. goodnight dani..." y.n whispered after turning off her bedside lamp as danielle smiled, turning to her side of y.n's bed 

"...goodnight y.n..." danielle whispered back as she quickly fell asleep whilst y.n stayed awake, staring at her ceiling for five minutes until she lulled herself into sleep only hoping that her emotions would be controlled and she wouldn't bawl her eyes out during the wedding of her ex-lover and his new wife

and how she should have known that her emotions would not be controlled, similar to what she's seen people do at funerals in movies and tv, she couldn't move from her seat after misha and vicki's beautifully hilarious wedding. thankfully, there was still time before the reception but, for now, y.n just needed time to herself, to breathe and to regulate her emotions before she sees misha and vicki to congratulate them...only, misha noticed her first and decided to go over and talk to his ex-lover...

"...hey...hey, y.n?" misha whispered, not wanting to startle his ex as she turned around, quickly wiping away her teary eyes as she smiled towards the now-married man 

"hey, misha, what are you doing over here? you should be with your wife, celebrating together before the reception," y.n cleared her throat as misha smiled and gave a side head nod as he gestured if he could take a seat, y.n nodded her head 

"i'm here because i wanted to talk with you, and so does vicki but, i think she'll do it later so as not to overwhelm you...but umm... i...we both know, vicki and me, how hard it must be to have come to the wedding and to have seen the wedding invite but, i just, i couldn't get married to vicki without you being here and, whether that sounds selfish or not, it wasn't our intention but, thank you. thank you for showing up because, even though i'm now married to vicki, i still love you in a way that vicki will never properly understand but understands enough that you won't do anything to jeopardize our marriage together. i know we dated from 1991 to 1997 and they were an amazing six years, i don't ever regret those six years but, i know that we both knew that we weren't ever going to get married or have kids as i will with vicki. vicki's my romantic soulmate, she's my wife but you, you y.n, you're my platonic soulmate. you have always been there for me during everything when we finished high school, when you were in college yet still cheered for me when began the white house internship to when i left that and started acting and then after we broke up as a couple. i mean, you were there for me when we found out recently about dad's cancer diagnosis and you were there for me as a shoulder to cry on when vicki wasn't available because you wanted to be a friend, a best friend. and, i mean, nothing can change what you mean to me, y.n. so, thank you for letting me marry my romantic soulmate and being my platonic soulmate, i love you y.n but, i have vicki now and, i'm forever thankful for the two of you...bye y.n, i'll see you later if i don't see you at the reception later on..." misha smiled, standing up from his seat next to y.n and giving her a hug as she accepted it whilst she wiped away her tears, tears that weren't tears of grief or jealousy, tears of joy that misha finally found his one true love, his romantic soulmate

baby you're all that i want when you're lying here in my arms, i'm finding it hard to believe we're in heaven, and love is all that i need

alex couldn't help the way he looked at his wife, y.n calvert as she slept, curled up against his exposed chest. he was totally in love with the woman who he had just married less than two nights ago as they stayed in the magical maldives for their honeymoon. this newlywedded bliss for sure felt like heaven and that love was all that alex needed. now he finally understood and appreciated the happiness that jared, jensen and misha spoke about when it came to the feeling of being in heaven after getting married. 

groaning, y.n opened her eyes and giggled in a startle, "...alex, you scared me! why are you staring at me?" she giggled, sleep still in her voice as alex smiled, brushing some of her hair out of the way as he bit his lip 

"because you're beautiful and you're my wife..." alex whispered as y.n smiled, biting her own lip as she spoke up again, her hand messing around with alex's hair 

"...say that again, baby," y.n smiled as alex chuckled but didn't waste time saying it again 

"you're beautiful and you're my wife there, i said it again and it's true. you are beautiful and you are mrs y.n calvert for now and forever!" alex chuckled as he continued to remove hair off y.n's face as she smiled at her husband 

"now and forever..." y.n trailed off as she smiled, her mind rushing back to her wedding day and her wedding vows 

"...alexander calvert...we've known each other since we were twelve and i've been in love with you ever since and now we're here, at twenty-nine-years-old and we're getting married. i mean, what kind of fairytale like that actually comes true other than those that we see in movies and tv shows that show this very thing happening? apparently, ours does and i'm forever grateful for our little fairytale. you always make me laugh when i don't want to laugh, you always make me smile when i don't want to or when it's the hardest thing in the world, you love me in the most loved way but, most importantly alex, you...you make me happy *sob* and i don't think i can say anyone has ever made me happier the way you have. i mean, when we first met, you were obsessed over musical theatre *giggles*, hip hop dancing, hockey and acting even though you were sort of embarrassed to admit it at all *giggles* and then, somewhere in all of those obsessions, you found yourself obsessing over me in the same way i obsessed over you. we always wanted to be around each other, even if it annoyed your sister rachel and your best friends to the point where i barely let you guys have hangouts on your own because i just wanted to be near you all the time *giggles*. but then, after high school and college, you sort of went away because your obsession with wanting to be an actor was no longer an obsession but a dream, a dream you started to chase alongside all these amazing families you've made through supernatural and the other tv shows. i love you, alex, i really do and it makes me so happy seeing the way you come alive on that tv screen every single week with your supernatural family. alex, i promise to you that i'll love you for all my life, i'll laugh with you, i'll cry with you, i'll never go to bed angry, i'll never let you doubt my love for you, i'll never doubt your love for me and for now and forever, you'll be my husband, my number one, always..." 

"...y.n...babe, you alright? i lost you for a moment, what were you thinking about?" alex sniggered as y.n giggled, cuddling further into him before lifting her head 

"my wedding vows at our wedding..." she trailed off as alex smiled as he suddenly felt himself get teary-eyed 

"...i cried my eyes out during your vows...they were the sweetest in the world," alex smiled as he sniffled and y.n smiled, reaching her hand up to alex's cheek 

"aww, did that make you emotional? and i know, that's why i couldn't look at you because if i did, then i would have started crying as well, that's also why i was giggling at some points because i was moments from crying but wanted to stop myself. anyway, i cried though when i was writing them, that's also probably why i didn't cry when i said them because i was in hysterics when i wrote them..." y.n giggled as she stared lovingly into her husband's eyes as he stared back into hers 

"...is there anything you want to do today or do you just want to stay in bed..." alex questions as y.n giggles, biting her lip as her leg started to intertwine with alex's as his eyes rose in shock 

"...or we could, you know..." y.n suggested with a hint of cheekiness as shane smiled and nodded his head

leaping onto his wife, making her shriek, they started to get all dirty and fun in the bedsheets in the paradise of the maldives and they couldn't have been happier. however, they remembered quite quickly that after today, their honeymoon in the maldives was over and they'd have to leave back for their home in vancouver so alex could return back to work with supernatural and y.n could return back to her job as a paramedic back home in vancouver.

however, at this moment, right now, they were moaning each other's name and getting down on it with each other and probably ruining every other vacationing couple or family's morning due to how loud they were but, hey, you couldn't blame the calvert's, they were newlyweds and, they were soaking up their last day of honeymoon bliss by doing it

alright, *cracks fingers*. so. I’ve written up a transcript just to lay it all out for myself and get the most important parts. listen, everyone. for all intents and purposes and legal reasons, THIS WAS A DREAM. alright? I dreamt this. and he is literally the nicest human being ever so I don’t want to just like... put our whole convo out there like that, but I think he said some stuff that was important for people to hear so... here we go

my *dreamt* zoom call with thee crowley below the cut

The first five minutes (of my dream) was just a bunch of introduction stuff and talking about my favorite Supernatural seasons which eventually led to him telling me how they filmed the Season 8 finale (which they did over the span of three days, and in between takes the crew members were like dead silent, as to keep the moment going, which Mark thought was really cool. Said it was one of his favorite things they did on Supernatural.) Anyways, he eventually asked me if I had any questions, so, I’ll start there.

MARK: So, do you have any questions you want to ask me about aaaaaannyyyythingggg? 

ME: Um, I guess the number one thing I wanna know… um, so, I know you can’t speak for Dean and I don’t want to talk about Dean because you’re not Jensen, but, there’s like a lot of questions I guess or subtext or whatever concerning Dean’s sexuality and what not, but I want to know about demon Dean and Crowley’s relationship and if there was, I don’t know, anything like, any implied –

MARK: Well I think – I think you’re talking about… there’s a massive difference between sex and love. There’s a massive difference between, um, well, they can intertwine perfectly, that’s not the issue, but I mean you would believe with all the things that Crowley did for the Winchesters, that he was – that he very much loved Sam and Dean or loved who they are or what they are. To reduce it to, you know, a crush, or to something that – I mean, I don’t know, I think Crowley is very probably pansexual more than anything else; I don’t think anything phased him. I think, that’s why the whole stuff with Lucifer and licking the floor was kind of really stupidly boring for me because Crowley did weirder and crazier things on his own. I mean, it became this joke of trying to humiliate somebody who can’t be humiliated. There’s nothing you can humiliate Crowley with. So, that never sort of made sense, that was just a sort of writer’s glitch of thinking, “oooh, this would be funny to knock him down into subservience” and that’s what he does on a Wednesday, I mean it’s like the most un-inspiring thing. I think so much is projected onto the relationship between, certainly the four main characters, um, and, you know, look, getting comfortable with one’s sexuality and one’s identity is a massively complicated things, and if you want to live vicariously through what you believe people’s identity is and you can relate to that, great!  Who cares? I mean, can I be absolutely honest? Apart from – what I do care about, you know, don’t ever take this and piece me or misquote it, because it’s very, very specific – um, somebody stopping somebody being able to express their own identity or whatever is an issue for me. That will always be an issue for me. Um, we should all be treated equally, and we all have the rights to believe and follow those things that we wish to follow, but to project relationships onto characters is an odd thing to do. I mean, it’s wishful thinking in a lot of ways, I mean, actually it’s quite… it’s quite reasonable because in the past if you think about it, if you ask your parents or anyone else, the only way sexuality was used was to, uh, literally demonize somebody. It was only ever used to say somebody was bad because this who they’re in love with. You know, that’s, that’s the thing. And it’s a massive change in the world that we’re moving towards, I should say, uh – a lack of consequence for who one loves, apart from the obvious consequences of human nature. You know, political consequences for who one loves – I’ve just watched Pete Butteigieg being, you know, sitting in congress with his husband there with him; that’s the first time that’s ever happened in United States congress and I’m so proud of that. Not just because the man is gay and happily married – that’s not even the issue for me, it’s because he’s the best man for the job and one of the smartest people on the planet. You know, it’s like using sexual templates, as they were, or gender templates as they are, or orientation templates as they are, we always use to disclude people from things. They were always used to discriminate. You know, labeling somebody was a way of discrimination. And where as labels are very important, to ones self, and they’re very important politically and they’re very important socio-economically and they’re very important in all those aspects, I yearn for a time when nobody gives a damn. I really do. But I mean, we have to go through so much to get there. I mean, let’s be honest, you can’t, you know, right the wrongs of hundreds of years of oppression in 20 minutes by saying, “let’s all move forward”. It just doesn’t work that way, it never has. But there’s a responsibility there, that if you’re going to represent, that you represent all. That you don’t just represent you. So, one has to be careful with a television program or, or, you know, Misha or myself, or, not speaking for the boys, but just generally, um, you have to be careful that what you advocate is inclusive, not disinclusive. Not excluding people... and it’s so hard to frame these conversations, that they’re equitable, it’s so hard to do that. And so, you know, we spend years pointing out the inequity and the injustice and the unfairness of the whole situation, and… I don’t know if the trick is to rise above, or, uh, maybe it’s as simple as love and coming together as a human race and make it very difficult for people to discriminate and exclude based on gender, race, color, religion, any of the subsets of humanity that we’ve decided we have. So, I think personal responsibility is the most important thing, but if one is in a position of power on a TV show, you got to remember what you’re representing, that you have a, you know, you have to cover all or cover none. So, you know, but if you stick to a story and you have a story about a person or two people and their journey, that’s shining light on things. If you try to advocate for all, I think it becomes a little more complicated. Does that make sense?

so, i just feel like he said some important things there, but like I also don’t really understand what he’s getting at really, y’know? oh! also, he didn’t watch the finale lmao 

also! there’s this:

MARK: Because if you come down on one side or another, you’re admitting the sides, and that has its own political ramifications. If you push the ball up in the air and say, “you decide”, I don’t think that’s copping out. I think that’s, maybe not fulfilling everybody’s expectations, or not fulfilling everybody’s hopes, but at least you’re getting the question asked. You know, at least you’re getting the question asked. At least people are relating to it and going, “well, what if?”. Because it’s all “what if”, I mean, it’s a TV show, so it’s “what if”, you know? It’s not Misha being in love with Jensen, I mean as much as he loves Jensen, I don’t think that’s his thing – I mean you never know – but I’m saying yet again, I don’t exclude anything from anybody (I LITERALLY CAN’T BELIEVE HE SAID THIS LMAO). But to force my opinion or my identity belief upon a situation has a cost. It may be right, it may be absolutely right, and it may be necessary in many, many cases. But, in that circumstance, I think… there are a lot of people in the world that say that Jesus, for example, was anti-homosexual and that he was – and none of that is true, and none of that is provable in the New Testament, and I’m not talking about Leviticus and I’m not talking about early Bible and I’m not talking about the fact that more than 25,000 words have been changed in the King James edition and all of this stuff, but these things that people hold so sacred, the confusion that arises from that is being told that a man loving a man or a woman loving a woman or a man loving a man and a woman or whatever combination being there is either right or wrong because you’re being told by a pastor or the leaders of your church, is a very difficult thing to break down. I think what you have to do is at least put it out there so it’s visible, and so it becomes less and less deniable. And you know, people change over years, that’s the trouble with youth, is shit doesn’t move fast enough. “I need a decision now!”, and unfortunately, when you’re dealing with centuries of prejudice and centuries of un-enlightenment, I think that sometimes the best thing to do is reach as many people as possible and pose the question. And sometimes it’s essential to make a statement, absolutely, no question. It is essential to make a stand, in some circumstances. But to polarize a TV show, can be very disingenuous to those who need to go ask their own questions, who need to go say, “well, where does Jesus say this is wrong?” you know, if that’s your beliefs.

MARK: There are issues that are being addressed here [on Doom Patrol] that are not being addressed on other shows, and yet again, we have the format, and I don’t know that Supernatural ever had the format because it was on the CW.

maybe not relevant or interesting for anyone except me, but i keep thinking about the nerd hq panel from 2014 and one question that was asked there, so I’m making a little analysis post <3 i also briefly looked through some posts from that time, but didn’t see this interaction mentioned anywhere, so! here it goes

the question starts at 9:27 and the whole answering goes til 14:30. (I’d say it’s worth watching it play out in the video first, just to be able to feel this a little more, u know)

the fan asks: “what has been the best/most memorable moment and experience this whole journey you guys have done with the show?”

jared: oh that’s easy. no, it actually is easy for me, i met my wife on the show. uh, yeah, the mother of my two kids. so right, that’s easy for me. good luck guys.

then he gives them this look and jensen waits a second and (without looking at him directly) says “thanks jared”

at the same time misha starts answering the question: for me it was the first time that I - I- slept with [a short pause that seems aaalmost deliberate here] jared’s wife

jensen nods a little exaggeratedly and looks around, and idk if it’s just me but he has a weird, sort of far away look in his eyes? like he’s thinking hard about an answer of his own or something. mark jokes about how misha is the father of jared’s two kids then, and jensen looks like he only grins at that because everyone else is laughing too, not like he necessarily listened all that well lol

misha fidgets and grins and looks a little awkward, but he throws a very short glance at jensen before looking at the audience again

they keep joking about that a little more, “are we live again? I’ll be more careful” and about someone in the audience

then jared asks: what about you sheppar-......ackles?

jensen turns to him and looks kind of caught off guard, turns to mark who asks “who?” and back to jared again and asks “what?” himself. he seems a little unprepared, actually audibly gulps when he makes an attempt at answering, stammers a little and passes the question on to mark at last

idk about you, but to me it looks like ever since jared answered the question at the beginning, jensen has come up with a very similar answer in his head - an answer that he’s obviously not gonna say out loud. and he’s sort of struggling to come up with an alternative and seems like he’d rather just be ignored and move on to the next question.

anyway, there’s some short banter between mark and the moderator, and then misha picks up where he left his previous answer: i have to say for me, and I’m not gonna distill it to a single moment, other than the one that i mentioned earlier. 

jared interrupts and makes a joke about how it was probably just a single moment, everyone laughs (sadly the camera doesn’t pan to jensen, would have liked to see how he reacted) and some jokes follow, and misha never finishes his answer

mark then asks “what about you jensen?” and jensen ONCE AGAIN seems to have expected that he could have gotten out of this one without answering and says “what?” and somehow manages to pass the question on to mark again

and then, at last, it looks like jensen has come up with an answer! he talks about how directing his father was a memorable experience for him and finishes his answer like this: there’s been a lot of great moments though over the past nine years. and i would say the fact we can say it has been nine years is one of the greatest things of the series that we can say, so thank you.

very curious to know if he is looking at mark or at misha here (the latter is not looking back) but this conclusion to the question gives me a lot of “i have some amazing pebbles in my life [pats misha’s shoulder]” vibes

anyway, just looking at all of this through cockles glasses sure is something! at least to me! starting with jared’s answer at the beginning, i think he has every right to say what he said, because meeting your spouse has got to have a very very significant meaning to you, but it is inevitably gonna put the other couple in a weird spot. they might like to repeat what he said, make it even funnier by turning to mark and repeat jareds words like “good luck mark!!” but yeah, obviously not happening. 

but then what misha answers at first does seem to me like it is an attempt? like a joke that is funny hearing in the most overt way, him literally joking about sleeping with jared’s wife, but also like an inside joke between the four of them who can see the subtext of what he is saying. and that’s also why i imagine the very brief pause after he says “sleeping with” was deliberate, because perhaps he was intending to give them a short heart attack, like he was gonna mention someone else after that 😀

and then there’s the whole thing with how jensen is acting throughout this. if i try to imagine myself in his position, it feels so logical that he’s acting kind of off? because he does get put on the spot a little here. but this is all just about vibes and feelings here, idk!! it just makes me nod in a way, like yeah jensen, i get this somehow. the queer experience, one might say

Wiggle, I am sad to hear you can't seem to be able to extend me the same good faith you so easily extend to Jensen.

I don't believe you had asked it in good faith based purely on the fact that you could have asked this on Saturday with both of them up there, Misha and Jensen, since it concerned both of their characters. Instead, you asked about Misha's 50th birthday.

What answers to what questions? How is the 15x18 going to be "resolved"? You weren't the first person to ask that kind of question or something similar. And, even if you were, why do you think this man is going to give you a play-by-play in terms of how this is going to be "resolved"? That is an answer that would come by way of a continuation, not by way of a solo Jackles panel in Germany on a Sunday afternoon.

I am also not taking your question in good faith owing to your response. You being disappointed in the answer is understandable, you're not the only one and I know others who also weren't impressed by the answer.

However, you took it further than that. You said things like this:

Instead of being part of the discussion, you're insulting others and coming across as someone who is "butthurt" over the fact others aren't sharing in your interpretation of his answer. Again, others haven't been impressed by it, but are engaging in a conversation or just chatting amongst themselves. They aren't throwing insults or poking at people in a mean-spirited way on others positive posts.

The fact that his panels are full of people who are like that & sneer at destiel questions is his fault and his fault alone. As long as he keeps playing safe and won't express any concrete opinions it will remain that way.

Why is it his fault that he plays a character that is pulled in every which way in the fandom and has fans on all sides? Ignoring the continuation stuff for a moment, why is it his fault he has fans? He can't go row by row, seat by seat and eject every J2er, Wincesty, or GenFan out of there.

And sneer at what Destiel questions? Other than yours, there weren't any. He doesn't go through everyone in the line one by one to make sure they are Destiel questions. And he did give a Destiel answer, even if you refuse to see it that way because he didn't word it exactly how you wanted it to.

Also, again, the fact that he isn't going to give you a play by play up on stage on anything they're brainstorming for the continuation. It's never been like that, won't ever be like that. Idk if you watched a lot when the show was on air but they always side stepped.

He also can't do speculative stuff because, again, that's not what he does, and because his character didn't get a chance to speak his truth, he's not going to speak in full detail until it can play out in the show. Otherwise he's just spouting FanFiction and if the continuation doesn't turn out how he said it would on stage, like how some of y'all want him to, then you'll be angry all over again.

You are right, I do not understand who he is as a person because he never expressed any opinions whatsoever. He's always ambiguous.

Now this is just lazy, in my opinion, I'm sorry. He does express opinions, some of y'all just don't take the time to listen to what he's saying. But also, during which it may sound like he's "fence sitting" please remember he's an actor, whose job is usually not interacting with fandom like this. Over the course of the last decade+ I've been at least a fan of his, I've come to understand that to him, he knows his job is to act. He'll talk about his acting choices and how certain scenes felt to him but he's not going to talk about something that he couldn't act out yet.

His job, at least this is how I've come to understand him and how he views his role, is to convey the level of relationship Dean and Cas had, not tell you how you should feel about it or how to interpret it.

That's why he'd give leeway to folks who go, 'Well, I just see it as a brother relationship'. Is it? No, but that's feedback to him as an actor in terms of how well he's doing his job. He also isn't going to tell people how to think or how to feel about something. That's not his line of business. It's to act and convince. And because out of the three of them, he's the only one with fans on two opposite sides of the fandom, and now, a lot of gen fans came in from The Boys, he's really not going to make someone feel bad for maybe not interpreting his acting the way he was trying to make it come across. If anything that means he'll just double down more while acting.

It's easier for Misha and, in some ways, Jared to do that because of how their characters serve the narrative, but Dean is different, and Jensen is different. Please accept that!

If anything I was shocked to hear his answer and apparently how nothing would need to be addressed.

The fact that after a day at this point, this is still how you interpret his answer, that's fine, but just know many, many others don't share that interpretation, and calling them Jensen apologists or having terminal jackles disease doesn't help convince us to your point of view.

I think it's desperate to cling to a man who is never going to give you the one thing you want. I think we all deserve to support actors who support us back! Who don't shy away from questions so they won't upset some assholes in the audience. I think we all should start respecting ourselves more.

Again I find it fascinating you command respect but don't give it to others in fandom, or the actors in this particular instance.

We're lucky as a fandom that we have the access we do to the actors. This is not a normal thing, just wanted to sneak that in there.

I'm not asking you to shy away from asking hard questions but I do wish folks like you who ask these questions understand what it is exactly you're asking, the situation in which you find yourself asking, and who you're asking it to and what you really expect the answer to be.

Again, respect is earned. And a lot of people respected Jackles for that answer and I"m sorry he couldn't give you what he was looking for but you demonizing him in this sense of moral high ground over something that, let's be real, he was never going to answer how you wanted, is very very odd.

He didn't do a single thing wrong. And you didn't either by asking that question. It's your response to the responses to the response that is making us scratch our heads.

Instead of partaking in the discussion, your question prompted, you're insulting people for using their brains to think about what this man is trying to say.
