The Dangers of Hope Ch. 1
Tumblr media
Series Summary: When Y/N shows up at Camp Chitaqua with her little girl in tow, her bloodshot eyes leave no doubt that she's infected. Or is she? Everything Dean has come to know for certain over the last five hellish years, is about to be challenged.
Pairings/Characters in the series: Endverse!Dean x Reader, Emma (OFC), Castiel, Sam Winchester, Lucifer, Michael, Zachariah, Risa, Johnston (OMC), Patrick (OMC) other survivors and soldiers.
Series Explicit 18 +/Warnings: Show level violence, some gore, angst, smut, fluff all the usual for a series of mine. ❤️ Endverse!Dean (that's a warning for his anger and callousness as well as his extreme hotness. 😁) Each chapter will have their own specific warnings.
Chapter Warnings: Not much in this first chapter. Some mentions of death and violence. I don't want to give away everything, but there are also some angsty mother/daughter moments, so be warned.
Word Count: 3468
A/N: So, I've had this idea for quite a while. Basically since I watched The Last of Us. I loved Pedro in the role of Joel, but I kept thinking how incredible Jensen would have been. Which then made me think of how amazing he was as Endverse!Dean which then led me to this idea. Lol! I've stolen the premise of Ellie's storyline from TLOU, but made her a grown up, a reader insert, and a love interest for Dean.
If you've never seen TLOU, don't worry - you don't need to have seen it to understand this story. 😊
I've taken some liberties with the Endverse in my story, changed a few things from canon, but kept lots of things too.
I sincerely hope you enjoy the story. It will be ten chapters and I will do my very best to post one chapter every weekend. ❤️
The divider at the top and bottom were created by @saradika

Dean punched open the flap of the canvas tent that he'd called home for the last several years. Sometimes he really missed having a door to slam.
Or a wall to punch a hole through, he thought as he tossed down his duffel bag full of weapons. At least the bag made a satisfying thunk against the plywood floor.
They'd lost three men on their latest raid. The raid was successful; they'd pilfered enough medication from a pharmacy in Omaha to see them through the next few months. But the reason it was the only pharmacy within a two hundred mile radius that had any meds left, was because it also happened to be Croat central.
It was swarming with the bastards. His soldiers had done a good job holding them off, but it had eventually led to ground fighting and three soldiers had been bitten. He'd put them down quick and quiet. But it made for a long drive home.
Home, he scoffed as he dropped onto the side of his cot. Home my ass.
As he rubbed his hand across his forehead, his tent flap opened again. He also missed privacy.
One of the soldiers that had been left behind to protect the camp, stood awkwardly for a moment before Dean barked at him.
“Not now, Johnston.”
“Uh…” the man hemmed and hawed for a moment more. “There's a…an urgent situation, sir.”
Dean let out a huff. “There's always an urgent fucking situation. I said ‘not now’!” Dean's voice was sharp and angry. All he wanted was five minutes.
Used to having his orders obeyed, especially when they were issued in his harshest tone, Dean turned away and started to light the lamp beside his cot. Before he could spark the match however, Johnston was clearing his throat annoyingly.
“Jesus Christ, what?” Dean snapped.
“I'm sorry, sir…but Castiel, well he…he has a…a situation with a woman.”
Dean’s glare could melt ice. “What woman?”
“I think…he wants - he said he wanted to see you as soon as you were back.”
Dean ground his teeth together and tossed down the matchbook. He gestured angrily for Johnston to lead the way.
He followed the timid man through a maze of tents, aware of the eyes that followed him. He was used to that feeling. People in the camp always looked at him like that - with a mixture of awe and fear on their faces. To most of the survivors he was a little bit legend, a little bit savior, and a whole lot scary.
He was always given a wide berth.
But something more was in the air today. The evening breeze seemed to be buzzing with whispers that followed him up the stairs and into the main hall. It was one of the only wooden structures in the camp, and definitely the biggest. It was where they all gathered together when they needed to.
He pushed through the squeaky door to find the angel standing in the middle of the room, just in front of one of the dozen massive, twenty-person, metal tables that had been constructed for large group projects like bomb making, or supply divvying.
Dean tried to look past Cas when it became obvious there was a person behind him, sitting on the floor. But Cas just shifted so he couldn't see whoever it was, which only made Dean’s scowl intensify. Cas held out his hands towards him.
“Okay, Dean. now just listen.”
Dean didn’t like the sound of that, or the placating tone the angel was taking. “What the fuck is going on here, Cas?” He tried again to peer around him at the person on the floor, but Cas shifted his footing again to keep them hidden.
“You have to…before you do anything, just,,,you have to look at her. Really look.”
He moved out of the way slightly and Dean could finally see a woman sitting on the ground. Her head was bent and around her wrists were manacles connected to heavy chains that yoked her to the immoveable table. Dean was about to once again ask what the hell was going on when the woman looked up at him and he saw her eyes - saw the perfect, blood red circle around her iris.
Dean’s razor sharp instincts reacted without conscious thought, and his gun was out of his thigh holster and cocked, with his finger ready to pull the trigger in under two seconds. It was only Cas jumping in front of the woman again that managed to just stop him firing.
But Dean kept his gun pointing at the woman’s head, even though it was now hidden on the other side of the angel's body.
“What the fuck is the matter with you?” He bellowed at the man who used to be his best friend, back when he still had friends. “She’s infected! Get out of the fucking way!”
Cas had his hands up again and was shaking his head. “No, Dean, look at her. Yes, her eyes show she should be infected, and yes she was bitten, but…just look at her. She’s not infected.”
Dean’s jaw ticked with his fury. “Yeah well, give it a couple hours and she’ll be strong enough to bust those fucking chains. Now, move!” He roared again.
But Cas took a step backwards, closer to the woman on the ground. “No, it’s been days.” He looked over his shoulder. “Right?”
The woman’s voice was soft. “Almost a week.”
Dean scoffed. “Bullshit!” He shouted, unable to believe the angel’s naivete. “She’s lying.”
Cas was shaking his head and looking at Dean again. “Her arm, where she was bitten, it’s healed up.” He called back to her. “Hold your arm out.”
The chains rattled and Dean saw a slightly grubby arm stick out from behind Cas’ legs. Sure enough there was a bite on the outside of her forearm that looked pretty much healed. Dean felt something uncertain shift in his belly, but he shook it off. He knew better.
“So she’s a quick healer. She’ll still turn into a monster sooner or later. Now. Move.” He gave Cas a glare that had made lesser men crumble. But the angel refused.
“No, Dean, this might be something huge.”
Dean opened his mouth to argue, but the woman’s small voice spoke first. “Please. I just needed to get my daughter to safety.”
Dean leveled another glare at Cas. “Daughter?” He asked.
The woman continued speaking and Dean tried to see any part of her around Cas’ body. “We were living in the Billings camp near Piedmont, Emma and I. We’d been there just a few months when the camp was attacked. They lost a lot of people, and I got bitten. When the fighting ended and the Croats were all dead, the leaders started checking us all for bites. I knew they were going to kill me and I understood what had to happen, but I wanted them to promise Emma would be safe, but they wouldn’t.”
Dean’s hand had lowered slightly, enough that Cas shifted aside again so Dean could see the woman talking. There were tears falling from her bloodshot eyes and she lifted the heavy chains so she could wipe them away before continuing.
“She'd fallen on some debris in the mess, long after the Croats had been put down, and she had a scratch on her leg. They were sure she was infected too. But she’s not.” She shook her head vehemently. “They were going to kill her. I…I couldn’t let them. So I shoved them down, fought them off, grabbed Emma and ran. We’ve been running for almost a week. I’d heard about this camp, so I headed this way. I was terrified I was going to change before I could get Emma to some semblance of safety. But…it just never happened.”
She shrugged and shifted slightly. Her movement brought the barrel of Dean’s gun back up a fraction of an inch. She stared at the pistol for a moment and then caught his eye again.  “I just wanted somewhere for her to be safe. I understand that you want me dead. I’m…” Her throat caught and she closed her eyes and took in a deep, steadying breath. “But….” She opened her eyes again and a slight smile curved her lips.
“You don’t…you probably don’t remember me, but a long time ago - I was barely sixteen - you…you saved me.”
Dean knew he must not have hidden his surprise very well when her smile deepened. It occurred to Dean in that moment that she was really, remarkably beautiful, in spite of the dirt and the bloodshot eyes.
“My family I mean,” she continued, “you saved my family. You and your dad. We lived in Wichita at the time. We had a poltergeist. It was…it was cutting me. It carved words into me.” She put a hand on her stomach. “Words like ‘vengeance’ and ‘death’.”
She shook her head. “I was so terrified. But you and John, you just swept in and got rid of the thing in a weekend. It was amazing.”
The long-forgotten case bubbled up in Dean’s mind. It felt separate from him, apart, as though centuries had passed in between, instead of a dozen years. But he remembered a young girl, a sweet kid with braces on her teeth and overwhelming fear in her eyes. He nodded. Yes, he remembered that smile now.
She wore it still as she shook her head and looked down. “It was a long time ago, a lifetime seems like, so I’m sure you don’t remember. But I still remember how Dean Winchester came and saved me.” She looked up at him again and her tears had returned. “So, I’m asking you to please, please save me again.”
Dean felt the same something as before, something that shifted in his gut, that felt tight and constricting. But he pushed it away and shook his head.
“You’re wrong, Y/N.” He said, as her name came back to him. He could see the surprise on her face. “I do remember you. I remember the poltergeist. I remember your family, your house. And I remember saving you.”
He paused and let the memories retreat from his mind’s eye before he clenched his jaw. “But you’re right, it was a lifetime ago,” he shook his head, “and I’m not that guy anymore.”
He raised his gun and took a step forward aiming for a quick, straight bullet to the head, faster than blinking.
But as though time slowed down, he saw a blur of motion coming in from the side and several things happened at the exact same time. Y/N screamed and dove as far to the right as her chains would allow, Cas jumped forward to stop him, and Dean yanked his gun up at the very last millisecond before his finger flexed on the trigger, just as he saw the blur come into focus.
It was a sobbing, shaking little girl, in a tattered blue dress. Her long brown hair was pulled back into a braid and tied with a faded piece of lace. Y/N had leapt towards the child to shield her as the little one had flung herself in front of her mother. Y/N was now cradling her daughter in her arms.
Cas kept his hand like a vice grip on Dean’s shoulder where he’d grabbed him in an attempt to stop him. Though he wouldn’t have reached him in time. A feeling surged through Dean that he hadn’t felt in a long time as he breathed in and out harshly, as though he’d run a mile.
Two of his soldiers, Risa and Patrick, ran in seconds later, ashen faced and staring at the little girl. Dean yelled at them. “Why the fuck did you let her in here?”
Risa shook her head. “She got away from us.”
“Got away from you?” He continued to shout. “She’s a little girl!”
When they didn't respond he gritted his teeth and spoke through them. “Why don’t you go see if you can handle all forty pounds of her this time.” He said, motioning with his gun for them to go get her.
As they moved to follow his orders he acknowledged what it was that had his heart beating triple time and his lungs unable to suck in enough air.
It was fear. The forgotten, acidic taste of it was on his tongue. It had been a very long time since he’d been afraid of anything. But knowing he’d been less than a second away from firing a bullet into the body of an innocent, uninfected kid - that truth had him rattled. As did Emma’s heart-rending cries as she clung to her mother.
Risa and Patrick had reached Y/N, but looked hesitant to rip the child away from her mother. Y/N was pulling on Emma’s arms and she finally managed to unlock their death grip from around her neck.
“Baby, shh.” She said softly as she brushed the little girl’s wispy hairs out of her face and cupped her ruby red cheeks. “It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s okay, you’re gonna be safe - “
Emma cut her off with a wail. “Noooo! Noooo! Mommy, I don’t wanna go.”
Y/N was shaking her head. “Hey, hey. No, sweetheart listen, listen to me. We made it here and now you’re safe.” She began nodding as Emma shook her head. “Yes, baby. Look at me, look at me, just breathe.” She said, and Emma began sucking in shuddering, choking breaths.
Y/N smiled and kissed her daughter’s forehead. “You are so brave. Okay? I just need you to keep being so brave. Can you do that? Hmm?” Y/N questioned, nodding even though Emma was shaking her head in denial.
Dean caught Patrick’s eye and gave a sharp nod towards the horrifying scene. He needed them to get the kid out of there. Patrick nodded back, but still didn’t move to take her. Dean seethed.
“I love you so much.” Y/N said, her voice breaking now, but she cleared her throat quickly and continued. “I love you bigger than big.” She was staring into her daughter’s eyes. “Bigger than big.” She repeated.
“And taller than tall?” Emma asked in a strangled voice, obviously repeating an often used sentiment.
Y/N was nodding. “And taller than tall.” She confirmed. She gave her daughter a final smile of encouragement, her palms still clasped on her flushed, wet cheeks. “You - are my little angel.” She told her before pulling her against her chest one more time, trying to squeeze a lifetime of love into the small body she held.
Dean tried to keep his features in check as Y/N looked up at him. He wouldn’t bend. She needed to get her kid out of there. Y/N sniffed and pulled back from Emma. “Okay, baby. You need to go with…”
She looked up at Risa, obviously looking for a name. “Risa.” The soldier replied kindly.
Y/N gave her a grateful smile and directed her words up at her. “Go with Risa, she’ll look out for you.” It was obviously a question for the other woman, a plea. Risa gave a curt nod of agreement.
Emma was still sobbing as Y/N lifted her out of her lap and let Risa take her away. The little girl screamed and reached back for her mother and Dean saw the way Y/N flinched as she raised her manacled wrist and pressed her fingers to her lips before sending a parting kiss to her daughter.
As the child disappeared her screams still echoed, and Y/N slumped, covering her face, her shoulders shaking.
Dean swallowed down the feelings that tried to rise in him as he watched her weep. Every person who died left someone behind to grieve them. If they were lucky. And this situation was no different. Their camp had more than a dozen orphaned kids. Emma would be no different.
But as Y/N took a shuddering breath and looked up at him, he knew he was lying. Her words to Emma had resonated in his memory, pulling forth the image of his mother’s warm hands on his cheeks after he sought to comfort her, told her he loved her and would never leave her.
“You - are my little angel.” She’d said, her voice full of love.
And another moment, in the dark, cuddled against his mother’s chest as she held him after a nightmare, just days before the fire. Her voice had been so gentle, so soft.
“I know you’re scared, Dean, and that’s okay. Cause I know you’re so brave too. Can you show me how brave you are?”
Y/N’s last words to her daughter echoed some of the last words he remembered from his mother and he would be lying if he said it wasn’t affecting him. But as Y/N stared up at him, he tried desperately to shake it off. It changed nothing.
Y/N’s voice cracked as she tried to speak; she cleared it before trying again. “Thank you, Dean. For keeping her here, for giving her somewhere safe to be.”
Dean shook his head. “Nowhere is somewhere safe to be.”
He could see Y/N’s fear spring back up, and he shrugged. “But she can stay here, and have the protection of the camp. For whatever that’s worth.”
Y/N nodded and closed her eyes. “Thank you.” She repeated in a whisper, and then, without opening her eyes, “I’m ready.”
Cas gripped his shoulder again. “Dean, don’t do this.” He said, his low voice barely a whisper.
Dean shrugged off his hand and stepped closer to Y/N, close enough that he couldn’t possibly miss, so that it would be instant and painless.
He felt Cas’ disappointment and anger looming over him as he extended his arm. The muzzle of the gun was less than two feet from its target. Dean cocked it again and felt his stomach swoop at Y/N’s soft, quick inhale.
His finger caressed the trigger, a breath away from pulling it when from nowhere his little brother’s voice floated into his mind, a snippet of conversation he hadn’t thought of in almost a decade - from the first time they’d ever seen the virus.
“You know I’m gonna ask you why.” Sam had said, referring to the man Dean had left alive.
“Yeah, I know.”
“So, why? Why didn’t you do it?”
He hadn’t answered his brother then; he’d been too embarrassed to say that there had been something in his soul that wouldn’t let him shoot someone who wasn't yet a monster, even if it seemed inevitable that they would be.
But now, that same creeping feeling, that same cloying sense of wrong was pulling at his soul again. It shocked him and angered him that his soul was still capable of this dithering - this pansy-assed wavering - when his head knew without a doubt what had to be done.
With the same sick, frustrated feeling, however, Dean felt his arm drop. “Dammit.” He growled, just as he had then.
He backed away and saw Y/N’s eyes pop open, saw relief flood them just before he turned and stormed away. He barreled out of the cabin and heard Cas shout after him. But he kept marching forward, trying to get himself far away from the memories that had come there to haunt him.
But with every step away from camp, with every inch he walked into the surrounding forest, his mother and brother’s faces became clearer in his mind until he finally just stopped abruptly. Giving a shout of pure fury, Dean pointed his gun at the dead leaves on the ground and unloaded his clip into the moist earth.
He was panting, teeth clenched, as he sensed someone approaching. He whirled around, instinctively pointing his empty gun towards the noise. But he immediately put it down when he saw it was Cas.
Instead he walked up to him and shoved the angel backwards; though even with his powers gone, he didn’t move very far.
“Don’t fucking follow me.” Dean growled at him.
But Cas just stared at him and then a smile spread across his face. Dean scowled thunderously. “What the fuck could you possibly be smiling about?”
Cas shook his head and shrugged. “I just… thought he was gone, but he’s still there. Haven’t seen him in a long time.’
Dean’s expression was confused and pissed. “Thought who was gone?”
“My friend - Dean Winchester. I thought he was well and truly gone.” He repeated. “But it’s so good to see him again.” The angel’s brilliant blue eyes were beaming so bright, they almost seemed to be alight with grace once more.

DP X DC Prompt/Idea
Long time writer for the DC fandom (mostly Batman specifically Tim Drake joins the batfam early AUs and Titans Tower AU) on Archive, Danny Fenton also known as Astroboy2025, decides three days after his ‘Accident’ to create a Jason wakes up a Halfa in his coffin fic. He only does this to help himself process his emotions after well lets be honest his death and revival. And later once the ghost attacks pick up and he picks up the mantle of a hero as a way to covertly get advice/figure out on how to fight ghosts better by transplanting all his ghosts into Gotham for Fic!Jason to fight.
Danny wasn’t expecting much to come from this, he wasn’t expecting the fic to blow up in popularity for ‘creative storylines’ and ‘unique original villains with a ghostly flare to go against the ghostly Robin now named Phantom’ it was just a vent fic with a bit of wishful thinking on his part with Ghost!Jason and Bruce's relationship being so close (He ends up writing Jason getting hugs and affirmations that Bruce still loves despite all the ghost stuff that happening now whenever his Parents go on a tirade about how all ghosts are evil and need to be ripped apart molecule by molecule)
He definitely wasn't expecting his fans to find out about the real Phantom and figure out his identity from there. (Blame Penelope Spectra she had a history unlike the others in his rogues gallery with a bloody trail across America of sharply increase Suicide rates in more isolated smaller cites/large towns that was being tracked by Redditers that had hard stopped in Amity park just a few days before he dropped the chapter of Jason facing her himself)
While the Amity Park tourism to see a IRL Hero in action, and the Anti-Ecto acts Riots, as they would later be called, made by DC fans throwing a fit about the threat to the world’s first superhero were the lesser consequence in the grand scheme of things. Finding his fan Discord was a trip and a half especially since Tucker had to hack into it into the first place because his fans we're extremely protective of his secret ID and reinforced the server a crapton to be stronger then most banks.
While Sam was insisting on this being a horrible Idea and he should try to dissuade his thousands of fans from the truth of his Identy. Danny was just chill with it after the brief panic. And the Fan Discord was super helpful for getting Advce with! while the jokes that he was Batman Adoption bait was annoying the group was amazing for ideas on how to train his powers and advice on how to better fight ghosts. the Discord even make a Power list for him so he wouldn’t forget a power because he wasn’t training it. plus the comfort they gave after Circus Gothica was A+ even with the jokes about how the Batfam curse of clown trauma, despite matching the look as a human batman isn’t real so as much as his fans joke about him being the prefect Bat bait that will not happen.
To bad after a particularly nasty ghost hate rant in front of him in ghost form while being shot at by his parents that before the server would spawn 3 chapters of Family fluff in his fic, was whatched angrily by a fan who in a fit of annoyed rage said these words. “I really wish batman WAS real, then maybe you could be safe in your home for once”
unfortunately Desiree was out and about and heard the wish granted she had no idea who Batman was so went to read the DC comics after that. Good news the DC universe is so messed up as is that Desiree decided no twisting was necessary she’d just to bring everything to life. Bad news all the supervillains now exist along side the now existing superheros and Desiree is now Kaiju sized and now way to powerful for Danny to deal with alone...
At least the now real Batfam are taking their sudden existence well? and are willing to help Danny stop the Mad Genie dispite the risk that they would pop into nonexistence (with the entire city of Gotham and the other cities, villains, and heroes made real by Desiree’s power) if she’s stopped

Well, it's time to say one of my most controversy opinion ever, related to OSC. However, this time it is related to TPOT.
So, I want to say, that this whole season was a mistake. Yes, I think the season, despite having interesting storylines, characters (One-), and also one of the best hosts ever, was a mistake. Before any of you say anything, listen to me!
So, you all know why TPOT exist, right? JNJ Crew, after BFB 15, had no clue what they should do with the show. Remember, BFB was supposed to be, pretty much, low quality season, that would be released at much quicker date (heck, the whole name for the season was supposed to be Sloppy BFDI!), but due to them deciding to add more quality, both in writing and animation, episodes started to take too long, not to mention the cast being, oddly, big (like, 64 people?!). There various concepts about what to do, there was even an idea to kill 40 people off, so the cast could become smaller. Then, an idea was brought to life - splitting the show, in half.
The split happened next episode and... Let's say a lot of people hated the split - not only because a lot of arcs were dropped, a lot of decisions were questionable (cough allowing Loser and Spongy to join cough), not to mention Two being, let's be honest here, an asshole. Because of the way the split was handled, a lot of people hated Two and, I'm being serious, wrote hate fics about Two and the contestants, that joined them. Yes, this was THAT controversial.
Even when JNJ dropped a video, about why the split happened, it still wasn't helping the case of TPOT. While BFB Post-Split quality was... Okay (I mean as in general, because no joke, that season isn't good), TPOT quality was supposed to be like the latest episode of Pre-Split BFB - it was supposed to have deep arcs, to have better animation, to have EVERYTHING better.
And, it did have deeper themes, better animation (TPOT), but some decisions were being meet with criticism, from BFDI fans - the episodes were taking too long (1 year), the characters were acting out of character (it was mostly seen in TPOT 2, where some considered the episode to be mean-spirited), that some arcs made no sense (Pin arc, though it makes more sense now, that we have BFDIA, but remember - BFDIA was seen as cancelled season back then, when two first episodes of TPOT were released). There were decisions, that annoyed a lot of people, such as letting Teardrop join.
There were also conflicts within the crew, which lead to Satomi being laid off (not fired, laid off), alongside Pokey. The whole season feel into limbo and a lot of people thought it would be meet with the same fate as BFDIA, but surprisingly it did come back, with Sam writing, and... First episodes under his production were meet with criticism from BFDI fans, that were kinda disappointed, especially Satomi and Pokey fans, that enjoyed their writing style (I mean, I enjoyed their writing too), some going too far into saying lots of harmful things about Sam, which was always the problem with those fanatics, I swear those people need to grow up.
The past few episodes of TPOT were AMAZING for me - it introduced better handled plot, they introduced fucking ONE to the show! However, there are still people, that are going too far with criticism, which is no longer a criticism, literally wanting Sam to be fired, which would be literally the worst scenario for many, many BFDI fans!
I enjoy Sam's writing too, but it does sometimes have lots of flaws, but I can't say it's awful. What I'm saying is TPOT is a result of mistakes, that JNJ Crew made, regarding BFB. So, you may ask "How could we avoid the split?", I have few suggestions:
Double eliminations! If they decided to introduce them in TPOT, why they couldn't introduce them there?
Drop the quality of animation a bit,
Make Two a co-host of Four and X (if Two would still be introduced)
Handle rejoiners better - don't make Loser and Spongy rejoin, either make anyone else rejoin (Liy-), or make no one rejoin! Or, heck, even better - have a rejoiner and a debuter, decided by people!
If they wanted to keep arcs there, at least they could make them be enjoyable, because the majority of BFDI fans kinda disliked the way Tacobook was handled (and also early Winnerclock arc... And Pin cheating arc... Yeah...)
The quality should be somewhat in the middle - of course, there should be still serious moments, but not arcs, that do make people dislike characters (Pin cheating arc and Tacobook!)
If Algebralians were still supposed to show up, they should be a part of EXITors attempting to escape plot,
Change the voting system to Vote to Save and change the ways you're voting to Google Forms (because Jesus Christ, Voting Wars were stressing for lots of people)
Handle Two's character better than how it was handled in BFB 16, so they would be still sympathetic character
Of course there might be still lots of possibilities, that could avoid the show to split, but I just said mine ideas.
Despite the split still happening and lots of people enjoying TPOT, I can't deny that there are lots of problems going on currently with this season, while BFDIA revival is going steady. Of course I won't rush any crew members or beg JNJ to tell us about what's going to happen next. Hopefully things will get better for everyone out there.
Oh, and btw - if you think harassment of any kind is ok, then I respectfully tell you to stay away from me and grow up. BFDI isn't THAT serious and was never supposed to be taken seriously!

Honestly what does give me a little comfort in kind of a messed up way is the fact that us sapphics aren't exactly alone-they pretty much screwed over EVERY minority lmao: Nate's storyline wasn't really explored and mostly centered around his relationship with Jade, Keeley could have had a whole fish out of water storyline like Ted about winning over her coworkers but instead the focused on her relationship drama, completely wasted Edwin and Shandy's potential for cheap laughs, gave a half assed attempt at writing Sam's storyline only to call him literally getting hate crimed a "big whoop" and never address it again, never actually giving Dani a storyline, like the list goes on and on XD its honestly kind of impressive how they managed to lowkey tear down their entire legacy Omg if you can edit your reddit post you should also mention how the only other sapphic character on the entire show is that creepy dog breeder..
This is so true. It feels like they dropped the ball for every single minority character and the longer you think about it the worse it gets.
Let’s talk Nate for a second because his whole storyline really baffles me. They had him coaching at Westham, and then they had him quit (or was he fired?) from Westham OFF SCREEN? And then suddenly an episode later he’s back as the assistant kitman for Richmond? I’ll never understand why these writers were so dead set on him coming back to Richmond, all so he could just fade into the background. And while I do believe the whole kit man decision was a temporary one, and that going forward they made him a coach again, I don’t like the implication that he worked through his issues this whole season to just end up back where he was. There’s no reason Nate couldn’t have gone off and gotten another coaching job at another team! He’s still the Wonder Kid, clearly has mad skills and credibility, you can’t tell me there isn’t a team who would have wanted him! I understand he had to return to Richmond briefly to have closure and make his apologies, but then he could’ve gone off to coach elsewhere and continued to spread the Lasso Way and change the lives of other people! We didn’t need him at Richmond when basically all the work has already been done. I wish they would’ve given me any indication that he’d really been impacted by this whole arc he went through & then gone off to be the change he wanted to see in the world.
Keeley’s whole storyline being about Jack & the business was such a waste of Juno Temple’s amazing acting, and an underutilization of the fan favorite character we know and love. Most everything about her seemed so off this season? And as you pointed out, she really didn’t even become Miss Independent until the very end when Rebecca took over financing and she was able to make decisions about her own business finally. I would’ve much rather they had Rebecca funding it from the start (or at least earlier in the season) so we could have seen her adventures and misadventures through running her own company that didn’t have anything to do with her messy, exploitative relationship with Jack.
The way I feel about them trying to tackle racism with Sam’s storyline is the same way I feel about them trying to tackle homophobia with Colin’s. If you’re gonna half ass it, don’t do it at all. And they certainly didn’t put half the amount of time and effort they needed to into thinking up how to properly handle Sam’s storyline. We went through the whole hate crime that was never addressed again. And then we had this big problem with Edwin in the final episodes where he was like “I’m going to destroy your entire life and you’ll never make money with the restaurant and you’ll never play for the National team.” And then that was just NEVER addressed again?? Not even a throwaway line about Rebecca taking care of it or something?? He was suddenly playing on the Team and the only explanation we were given from Brendan during the AMA was that it was due to ‘national outcry’ like give me a break. Not to mention we never saw Simi again and so we never got to see if she and Sam ended up together. We were sort of just left to infer that everything worked out for Sam, and that just doesn’t work for me.
Poor Dani Rojas was doomed to be nothing more than a joke from the very start. He deserved more, but at the same time I’m almost glad they didn’t give him more because the storylines this season were awful.
So yeah, feels like all of the minorities on the show lost. I don’t know how the writers managed to do this in so little time, but you’re right it is really impressive.

Honestly I’ve been thinking about it but I think the reason why some might not be as excited about the Sam/Darlin/Quinn storyline is because of the drop of the Fred and Bright Eyes storyline. I feel like without them you sort of lose all the motivation of WHY Sam decided to help Darlin in the first place. You sort of lose the effect Quinn had on Sam’s side and his 2 fledgelings! The pain he feels from being Fredericks maker and the cause of those feelings being the reason Sam and Bright Eyes relationship is so strained. His anger towards Quinn being sort of pushed onto Bright Eyes. We don’t get to see the flaws of Sam and why he works so well with Darlin who also has flaws. We don’t get to see his struggle of being a maker for not one but 2 new vamps. Because again Quinn didn’t just affect the life of Darlin (granted he affected Darlin’s life A LOT) he also affected Sam’s!
Obviously I fully support him dropping it for his mental health! Mental health is very important and should come first always!!! I just think the dropping of that storyline heavily affected the overall Quinn narrative and that’s why it doesn’t have that much weight anymore. And didn’t help the updates for this storyline were pretty long waits which makes sense cause Erik has so many storylines to focus on so of course he can just shovel them out fast! But I think the storyline of Fred and bright would have made getting updates easier cause we are seeing a different side of the story! Sam’s!
I hope no one takes this as me saying Erik is horrible at writing and this whole storyline sucked or whatever! Cause I don’t! I think he’s great even if I haven’t really been consistently listening to his stuff. Just wanted to give my two cents!
Also heard a bunch of people were bullying gba for his Quinn which really sucks. I admit he wouldn’t have been my first choice but I honestly thought his performance was amazing!!! He did really good! And I’m happy he got to play Quinn!
Don’t worry I’m not gonna tag this in the redacted tag cause even though I don’t mean anything I say negatively I don’t want to bum people out with my opinion or have people who enjoyed this storyline to see someone I guess complain about it??? I don’t feel like I’m complaining but I’m blanking on a proper word! Also I’m not a writer so I can’t even say what I’ve said is right or not! It’s just my opinion! My uneducated one! XD
P.S. I will say though the fact Frederick got a name drop in the lastest video but not bright eyes makes me wonder if even still they’re relationship is strained which makes me very sad as a bright eyes fan! ;u;

2022 Kdrama End of Year Roundup
I wasn't going to do an end of year round up because I didn't finish anything this year (🙃), but reading everyone's 2022 roundups was so fun and inspiring that I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. This is less a review of anything and more a series of rambling thoughts about the different dramas I bounced around this year.
My Name is Kim Sam Soon (2005): Kim Sun-ah is one of my favourite actresses and after watching her amazing turn in Children of Nobody, I hopped onto her starmaking drama, My Name is Kim Sam Soon. The first episode is perfect - razor sharp writing and comedic performances, and the most endearing heroine in Sam Soon. She's a hot mess but a very adult hot mess, with a strange dignity about her even as she rushes from one humiliating situation to another. Her chemistry with Hyun Bin is charming, although the character himself was not quite as nice. Kim Sam Soon is a character who still feels novel, but pairing her with Hyun Bin's grouchy, aloof, grabby love interest felt regressive, like the writers wanted to have their cake and eat it. I dropped it not just because I was lazy, but because the relationship didn't seem like a fun journey. But man, that first episode really is so good.
2521: Kim Tae-ri's performance as Na Hee-do has to be seen to be believed. Na hee-do is an animated character and I mean this in every complimentary sense of the word. Animation is a medium where the artist has exacting control over every image the audience sees, and so the best pieces of character animation will transform even the act of walking - from one imaginary point to another - into something transcendent; Kim Tae-ri's physicality is so finetuned and precise that every gesture she makes feels like something whole and wonderful in itself - she's so good that she elevates every scene into a more vivid, exciting reality. She really didn't need to carry this drama - the cast is solid - but somehow it ended up being that way. She's so good in this that everytime it jumped to the present, I felt lost and even upset at how little of her I could see in Kim So-hyun's Hee-do. Maybe that was the point, but it still hurt lol. I liked looking at Nam Joo-hyuk - he's very pretty and has nice arms. That's really all I can say about him here. I dropped the drama before he and Hee-do got together, but to be honest, watching Hee-do and Yu-rim finally become "friends" felt more rewarding. It's always fun to see Kim Hye-eun - she brings a certain malicious edge to even the most innocuous characters. And the show's art direction was gorgeous. Can't see myself going back to it but I had a great time.
My Liberation Notes: before I knew about kdrama screenwriters and their creative powers, and that it was possible to learn these writers' names and follow their works and idiosyncracies, I knew of Park Hae-young from her terrifying Another Miss Oh which made me wish desperately to never fall in love if being in love meant endless humiliation. I've already talked about how painful it is to watch PHY's shows and My Liberation Notes was no different. I'm sure it's a show that rewards patience; I'm sadly a deeply impatient person. Another Miss Oh had some very good humour to keep me going for 7 episodes; My Mister propelled me through all 16 episodes with its tight storyline and captivating interpersonal drama. My Liberation Notes didn't have any sugar to help the bitter pill go down easier - the pill being a claustrophobic, feverish depiction of adulthood. Setting the story in an autumn where summer has lingered too long meant I could feel the humidity in the back of my throat. I guess I dropped it because it was a little too good. But I might go back to it - all those gifs of Kim Ji-Won and Son Suk-ku look very tantalising.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo: this one is tricky to talk about because I was certain I was going to finish it and love it forever. Episode 1-9 of EAW are practically perfect. I can't speak for the accuracy of its representation, but it's wonderful to hear that Park Eun-bin's performance hit the right chord with many autistic viewers. This really was an excellent ensemble cast - seeing Kang Ki-young in such a measured performance after watching him all these years in comedic supporting, then second lead roles was oddly touching (and this is also the last time I'll ever compliment him, since he might be doing brownface in his next movie in the year of our lord 2023, hope he's proud of himself). Favourite moments: the “Children’s Liberation Army”; "Spring Sunshine" Soo-yeon; Young-woo eating breakfast with Geurami after running away from home; Young-woo's meeting with her mother, played by the immensely gifted Jin Kyung. The series was poised to become my new favourite thing, but episode 11 happened and was so embarassing I dropped the show off the face of the earth. Episode 11 is so baffling, so unexpected, so utterly juvenile compared to what had come before. Listen to this - Young-woo takes on a case of a couple contesting lottery winnings with the husband's friends. She wins but the husband might be a crook. But - uh oh! - he's also abusive. But - uh oh! - he's also cheating on his wife. But - uh oh! - he gets run over by a truck before anyone can bring him to any kind of justice. Even typing this out I'm laughing because it’s just so strange. After previously thoughtful, organic writing, to see the show suddenly fall back into what was comfortable and safe was disappointing to say the least. And the worst part was that it no longer felt like Young-woo's story - as if the narrative had been wrenched out of her hands, which had been carrying the story beautifully all this time. But I think it was unfair of me to judge an episodic show so harshly for one dud, which is why I plan on finishing it. I think 2022 was the year I discovered that I'm a very judgemental viewer.
Little Women: a gothic modern day retelling of Little Women was the last thing I expected to watch this year. Starting the story post-mortem was an interesting choice - "Beth" is already dead and her memory haunts her sisters who can't even remember her name. And her death distorts the characters, as if to challenge the original novel's thesis, to say that poverty breaks rather than builds character. "Marmee" does not pull herself together, but is permanently damaged from the loss and abandons her surviving daughters at the first instance. There's a sense of disturbed girlhood - I'll forever be struck by the image of a corpse wearing a pair of red shoes, and hidden in the wardrobe of a girl's dollhouse. This combination of gothicism with otherwise hardnosed suspense made for a very thrilling, heady watch in places. Ms Go beating up In-joo was easily one of the best things I've seen all year. This woman wears clean sharp lines with her hair in a neat bun, and the moment a vulnerable, desperate young woman offers herself up for punishment, the facade flakes away to reveal an obscene love of cruelty. I was terrified for In-joo, delighted to see a woman who actually delivered on her promise of violence. Park Bo-kyung is a star. If I see another comment talking about how "oh, In-joo and Do-il should've gotten together, they had such great chemistry," I'm going to scream. I'm sure Wi Ha-joon has been wonderful elsewhere, but here, next to Kim Go-eun, who was acting, he was painfully flat. I will finish this one, partly because I’m really intrigued to see how it resolves itself, but also to get another glimpse of my favourite violent woman Ms Go.
Into the Ring (2020): checked this one out at the very tail end of 2022, and honestly, best decision I made last year. This drama is, on a scene to scene, frame to frame level, the funniest show I've ever watched. It’s full of delightful little quirks from its eccentric cast of characters that it mines for every giggle. Our heroine Goo Se-ra isn’t weird in a cute way, not weird in a quirky way, not weird in a sexy way - just weird. She’s unhinged but also scarily competent, as if all those short-term jobs have accumulated into latent superpowers. Her and Gong-myung are the rare drama couple that actually delight in each other’s company - there were brief moments of intimacy where I was taken aback by how completely I believed in this fictional relationship. It’s a show that needs its brevity and its indestructible heroine, because its world of local politics can be incredibly defeatist. The underdog rarely wins - she’s at least 15 years too late, without connections, wealth or the time to build a strong base within the system. I appreciated the narrative’s bluntness about what it meant to be an effective politician, and at some point, even though she really vexed me in places, I came to understand councilwoman Yoon Hee-soo’s world-weary pragmatism (played by Yoo Da-in who I’ve not seen since Weightlfting Fairy, and who, in hindsight, was wasted there). Also Ahn Nae-sang was hot in this. Yeah, I don’t know either. I’ve only got 2 episodes left and I can’t wait to get back once I’ve finished all my essays.
Offhand, I checked out episode 1 of Why Her? while doing schoolwork, and I love me a morally ambiguous girlboss but when that morally ambiguous girlboss physically assaults a worker - who is both significantly younger than her AND her student - and the show carries on as if nothing is wrong (and even ensures that the student is already emotionally attached to her, meaning that he is never appropriately angry at her for assault...), eyebrows start to rise. Of course there’s an interesting story in there about power imbalances and how powerful women uphold abusive power structures, but I don’t think Why Her? is that story. Oh well. Seo Hyun-jin’s hair is beautiful in this though, the stylists should get a raise.
And that’s it for 2022! Wishing you guys a belated, but very happy new year, and good things in 2023! 🥰🥰

Sam! You are BRILLIANT!!! The latest chapter had me on the edge of my seat! So heavy and amazing and angsty and perfect.
Now that we’re here, this is the loving reminder that you promised ages ago that when the big reveal finally happened, you’d share who it was that first figured it out. Which brilliant Sherlock of a reader figured it all out first? And WHEN/HOW did they figure it out?
They deserve a cake. Or a bottle of wine. Or both.
I feel like whoever this person was, they figured it out forever ago, before the rest of us even started to piece together the clues. I’m so impressed with them for figuring it out and so so so impressed with you for so brilliantly dropping such subtle clues and writing it so well! Bravo!!!
It was @curse-04.
Gosh, I don’t even remember what chapter it was. It was a LONG time ago. I member thinking I had laid too many big clues and maybe I should scale back. I was PANICKED. I thought I had played my hand too soon and the mystery would be gone.
Most people who pieced it together seemed to have done it after I mentioned there was something that no one but one person was mentioning in reviews. Then people started picking up on the small clues and commenting about it on tumblr. Although, I can tell from reviews it was still a shock to many or that people were in denial about the clues.
It’s a storyline I’m really excited to tell.
Oh! By the way, someone pointed out I couldn’t do the blood adoption between Harry and Sirius if Voldy was Sirius’ dad and I… well, I hadn’t thought of that. I felt very stupid that I hadn’t thought of that. Well, I suppose I still could have done it because Sirius didn’t know, but it was gonna be a terrible hole to dig myself out later. It was why I had Andy suggest not to do it, because she has suspected for years Voldy may be Sirius’ dad. So it was a good out. It would have fucked with things with the wards.

I loved every single second of this Ted Lasso episode. Every. Single. Second.
I love the team spending their whole time in Amsterdam arguing over what to do in Amsterdam. I fucking LOVE these himbos so damn much. Dani and his tulip, Richard being French, Sam wanting to do movie night, Isaac losing his mind, A PILLOW FIGHT!!!! THEY DID A PILLOW FIGHT! I hope Ted finds out
I loved the Colin and Trent Crimm storyline and bonding experience. Colin's speech made me cry. Him running from Trent afriad made me cry. CANON GAY TRENT!
I loved Higgins and Will going out on the town together. Love Higgins love of jazz.
I loved that Dutch man Rebecca meets a lot. He's hot and kind and funny and if Rebecca ends up with him I'm fine with that. They're so cute together.
Everything with Roy and Jamie was WONDERFUL! Jamie running around town spouting fun facts about Amsterdam was adorable. Jamie teaching Roy how to ride a bike was HYSTERICAL and lovely and then they go off riding bikes to find a windmill!? GOD I CAN'T TAKE IT! And jeez that trauma drop from Jamie about his dad makes me sad and angry and I want to hug Jamie and murder James Sr. Jamie Tartt, my love, I am in pain. I'm going to murder your father that fucking bastard. I hate him so much. God. I do love that Jamie went back again with his mom and they did the tours and made good memories. We haven't met his mom but I love her. OMG HIM SPOUTING ALL YHE TRIVIA WAS FROM THE TOURS HE TOOK WITH HIS MOM!!! HE LEARNED IT ALL WITH HER AND REMEMBERED IT ALL AND IT MAKES HIM!!! JAMIE AND HIS LOVE FOR HIS MOM IS MAKING ME CRY! I want to meet her and nothing bad better happen to her or I riot. Also if we do get James Sr returning when they play Man City again I want Roy to beat him to death before he gets anywhere near Jamie.
Ted spending his time alone and aching for home made me so sad. SO SAD! God he's going to go back to Kansas at the end of the season isn't he. Dammit. But high ted was amazing 🤣🤣 USE THOSE AMERICAN TACTICS YOU KNOW SO WELL WITH AFC RICHMOND COACH! IM SO GLAD WE'RE FINALLY SEEING TED COME UP WITH PLAYS !!! Its been driving me buts that hes just not doing any actual coaching other than tram bonding. You're smart Ted! See! You can come up with plays too! I love to see it!
And the ending!! The whole team singing on the bus home!? Perfection.
This episode was absolute perfection.

Got tagged by the bringer of amazing headcanons and provider of gorgeous, jaw dropping interpretations @mr-laveau to assign some ships songs. Did my best here and 100% picked songs I already associate with other ships and characters because listen, sharing is caring. Let's get into it!
[D.A.M.N. Polycule]
This is all the boys @ FL and simultaneously FL @ all the bots. All of them are grateful to be in each other's lives and wouldn't have it any other way. They can't imagine things being different. Lyrics that specifically stick it: "It feels so good to know ya"
[Sam/Darlin']
It's a tad upbeat from what I envision the vibe of this pair to have but the lyrics fit to me. I'm also a sucker for any song that's like "I'm scared to love you but I love you too much not to try" so here we are /pos
[Huxley/Damien]
If there's one thing you need to know about are the blueprint to me. Alright, this is my top ship, can't be beat. I like to think that this song is from Damien's perspective once they get together. In general, I think they bring out the best in each other and this song fits that.
[Avior/Starlight]
LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN (/LH)— Avior is one of my favorite characters. Starlight is one of my favorite listeners. Their storyline is one of my favs overall. That being said, I also love a little pain and this song cuts me deep. It feels like it sums up where they're both at mentally when it comes to the meridian stuff.
[Cutie/Geordi]
Much more from Cutie's perspective, but I feel like this captures their inner turmoil and how that conflicts with their love for Geordi. I love them and their story in general, and I think this song shows a certain will for their relationship to work out while still highlighting how Cutie has their own stuff to work through.
[Vincent/Lovely]
This specific version. The almost quiet feel to it compared to the original draws you in, pulls you close. Gendering aside, it's even more fitting post-Inversion.
[David/Angel]
Reminds me of quiet nights and healing as you go, which I feel is a major part of their relationship development. To me, this gives off "I want to be there for you and help you when the darkness clouds your mind". Again, always a sucker for.
[Vega/Camelopardalis]
This is an ultra specific pick based entirely off of the fic "And That’s Why We Broke Up" by @dominimoonbeam (your writing is >>>). I get that it's canon divergence, I get that this ship ain't for everyone, I get that I'm 99% certain it'd never happen in canon. That doesn't change the fact that this is 100% what I think of when I think about this pairing in the context of this fic.
[Elliott/Sunshine]
Beginning of the song reminds me of Elliott showing Sunshine dreams dreamscapes and stuff. That mixed with the friends to lovers vibes from the beginning of their relationship/dynamic and overall energy this song has made it fit for me.
[Alexis/Sam] (LET ME EXPLAIN /LH)
This ship isn't for me and I debated adding it at all, but this is one of the first songs I thought to add for this. I think it absolutely fits from Alexis' perspective and, if you view her as a more complex character rather than one dimension, it makes you hurt in a "It is what it is but damn" kind of way. Especially the line "strangers to friends, friends into lovers, then strangers again". Like come on, it fucks me up to imagine that pain after everything that transpired between her and Sam.
[Bonus Honorable Mentions]
Hit my audio limit whoops but Friendly Dark by Ollie MN for similar reasons as Die Trying assigned to Avior/Starlight. Also Our Love by Curtis Harding and Jazmine Sullivan from Arcane for Milo/Sweetheart (gendering aside). The girls that get it get it, and the girls that don't don't (/lh).
This was a lot of fun, even if I had to rack my brain a bit. I hope you enjoy my selection~ Tagging @thefablefoxart because I'm always in love with your musical suggestions (and don't know anyone else to tag /lh)

So I just played Growing Up and I am addicted and emotionally attached.
First playthrough (no pics sadly ;-;): I made myself but tbh she diverged from me when I made her develop different interests from me. Childhood she befriended Alex, middle school Wendy and high school Kato. My character was chaotic but a mom friend who made sure Alex didn’t get killed. I was originally was going to have her pursue Wendy but then said she wasn’t interested in any girls or guys and I was just ohhh I guess this isn’t going to work out. Alex I believe is straight so not an option but I fell in love with Kato. I love how cute and dorky they are together. My favorite scene was when they were playing a kissing game with dungeons and dragons dice. My character got all the good endings, married Kato and become a veterinarian.
Second playthrough:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kato and my character had a son named Julius and his childhood friend is Bobbie (who I love to death), had an enemies to lovers story with Alicia and befriend Flick. Tbh I debated to date Bobbie but I ended up not getting those vibes from their relationship plus idk if I missed but I don’t think I saw an option to date her? With Flick I have this headcanon that she did have a crush on Julius but he never saw her that way since he already liked Alicia since middle school. During that time period in her route when she avoids you he would date Alicia. In her good ending while feeling guilty for what happened to her brother she was able to move on and get married and have kids like she wanted. But when it said she got divorced because she had trust issues I wondered if she thought back to Julius sometimes because he’s still good friends with her and he was the only person she ever trusted. Julius ended up as a football player for the super bowl and married Alicia who became a business women and created non profit organizations to help others.
Third playthrough:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alicia and Julius had a daughter named Valentina and holy shit her life was the most chaotic. So even though these storylines don’t crossover I like to think she dated these three dudes at different times in high school. So Jake is her childhood friend who I think is her first love and dated him first until I got the bad ending lol when she tried to stop him from getting into a gang she said she loved him but he dropped out of high school and never saw her again and died in a gang fight. Sam I think she would have dated on and off after Jake and at the one point when he makes out with another girl and he said he was now seeing her. I felt chaotic in the moment and had her kiss him and he ended up calling her a skank and she yelled at him and the last time they interact is them awkwardly feeling bad for what happened but never directly confronting each other when they saw each other. Nate she was friends with since middle school and I think it fits he would the last person she dates since his route has romance happen at the end. Omg Nate is amazing and I love their relationship so much. It felt like she had a more genuine connection with him out of the three boys. Valentina ended marrying Nate and she became a famous movie costume designer and he became a veterinarian.
I’m trying to get all the characters and I want to get a playthough with Jake and Sam’s good endings. Highly recommend this game for fun character interaction and character creating with stat building.
Edit:
Fourth playthrough:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After two playthroughs with the only options to be straight, it felt vital to be gay this time. Hmm this story was rather chill. The next kid I would follow is Aria and I would say she’s a chill and artistic sort of girl who wasn’t into school and preferred to draw all the time. I think her route was that slow realization of woah… I’m gay. Cool. Like I can picture many would think her and Richard would end up together since cute childhood friend to romance and Richard develops a small crush on her in high school. I think it was her meeting Patty that made her think about it more. Idk what happens if you try to pursue Charles as a girl and how he rejects you but I like to think because he’s pressured by his father and Aria is his closest female friend he asked her out. They tried to be a couple for like a week and it was the most uncomfortable experience of their lives and have a deep introspection together on how they felt similar about their sexualities. When Richard tries to hold her hand at the theater and explain how he felt uncomfortable doing stuff with romance, Aria was like don’t worry that won’t happy to us… cause I’m gay. Richard was just quiet and then sighed with relief and they stayed besties. This would all build up to Aria’s first kiss with Patty and it was adorable. Aria would end up becoming an artist while traveling around with Patty.

The Dangers of Hope Ch. 3
Tumblr media
Series Summary: When Y/N shows up at Camp Chitaqua with her little girl in tow, her bloodshot eyes leave no doubt that she's infected. Or is she? Everything Dean has come to know for certain over the last five hellish years, is about to be challenged.
Pairings/Characters in the series: Endverse!Dean x Reader, Emma (OFC), Castiel, Sam Winchester, Lucifer, Michael, Zachariah, Risa, Johnston (OMC), Patrick (OMC), Theresa (OFC), other survivors and soldiers.
Chapter Warnings: None really. Angst. Dean being a bit of an asshole. A brief, near sexual encounter. Smidge of fluff.
Word Count: 3,654
A/N 2: So, here I am with chapter 3. I hope you enjoy it! Thank you so much for all the very kind comments that this series has received so far. You're all fabulous.

The next morning Dean was sitting at the table in his tent, listening to the camp waking up around him, when his tent flap opened and Cas strolled in. Dean rolled his eyes.
“Jesus, we gotta put up a piece of wood on the tent poles or something so people can knock.” He said in a surly and growly, early morning voice. When Cas didn’t respond, he challenged him with an even surlier tone. “What? Why are you here?”
Cas walked further into the tent. “I saw you gave Y/N back her daughter.” Dean raised his hand and then dropped it, conceding the point. “And,” Cas continued, raising his hand in the air and waving it slightly, “no more manacles.”
Dean spread his arms wide. “These are all things I already know, Cas; why are you telling me this?”
Cas shrugged slightly. “So, can I assume this means you no longer think she’s going to turn into a monster at any minute?”
Dean blew out a puff of air. “It means, she’s been here a week, and hasn’t turned yet. And since that isn’t really something that happens to people who get bit, I think I can be reasonably certain she won’t turn, randomly, out of the blue one day. And I gave her back her kid so she can look after her, and I can get Risa back as a soldier instead of a nanny.”
Cas wore a very enthusiastic expression as he moved closer. “Come on, even you have to admit that this is exciting.”
Dean arched a brow. “Exciting?”
Cas’ voice became awestruck. “Dean, this is the most hopeful sign we’ve had in…years!”
“Aw, don’t come at me with that hopeful bullshit!” Dean’s scowl and fierce countenance was immediate and slightly intimidating, even to the angel.
“Hope is nothing but a fucking lie, okay? We know it. We HOPED we could stop Lilith breaking seals and we didn’t, we HOPED we could stop the apocalypse, but we failed at that too. We HOPED we could save everyone, and well, we’re doing a pretty piss poor job of that, aren’t we? Every single time we go out on a raid, I hope we come back with the same number of people we left with, but it doesn’t happen very often, does it? We hoped -”
Dean cut himself short and swallowed hard, lowering his voice. “We hoped that Sam would be strong enough to say no, but…he wasn’t. I hoped I could save him. And-” He cut himself off again and rubbed a hand hard across his face.
“So just don’t come at me with ‘hopeful’.” Dean said, sneering the word.
He tapped his fingers against his chest. “Cause I gotta live in the reality of this situation. And look, if you wanna hide away from that reality, you wanna get blitzed and bombed every day, and pretend like you’re some kind of sexual guru, fuck around with dozens of girls, I don’t really give a shit. Okay? Do it. But I,” he banged his chest with his whole fist this time, “I have to live in the reality of our lives.”
Dean stood up and stepped closer to Cas, swinging his arm out sideways. “And the reality is I have no fucking clue why that woman hasn’t turned.” He shrugged dismissively. “Maybe the person who bit her wasn’t fully turned themselves, or maybe they didn’t fully break the skin so it didn’t take completely. Who knows. All I know is that she’s probably not gonna turn and so now we’ve got one more mouth to feed. Two, actually.” He said holding up two fingers. “And two more people draining our resources.”
He stepped back and turned away, giving Cas his profile. “That’s the reality. So you wanna join me in it, great. If not,” He turned his head to look at him, lifting his hand towards the entrance, “there’s the door. Or, you know, the tent flap.”
He dropped down onto the chair he’d vacated and rubbed a hand across his lips. He looked up when Cas spoke softly.
“I don’t wanna live in this reality, Dean. I just can’t anymore. So I choose hope, I choose to be hopeful that maybe she marks a change, maybe things can be different. I’m telling you, this reality isn’t the only option.”
Dean shook his head. “It’s my only option. I learned a long time ago, and you should’ve too - hope is dangerous. Reality can’t hurt you like hope can.”
Cas’ expression was discouraged and disappointed as he nodded, looking away from Dean. He said nothing more as he turned and walked away.
***
A little while after Cas left, Dean moved out to his campfire and cooked and ate his ration of eggs and potatoes. As he drank his coffee, he was actively trying to push the argument with Cas out of his head. He had a camp to lead, he didn't need this crap clouding his judgment.
It was ridiculous to think the woman represented some kind of new hope for mankind. He rolled his eyes at the very notion.
Still, he found himself calling out to Johnston as the soldier walked by. The man stopped abruptly and turned fearful eyes on Dean. It drove Dean a little crazy that after more than two years of Johnston serving the camp, of protecting it and helping to run the day-to-day work and activities there, he still seemed petrified of Dean.
I can't possibly be that scary, Dean thought with a deep scowl. Not like I've had him flogged for looking at me wrong or something.
Dean rolled his eyes and tried to ignore the fear radiating from the other man.
“You settled Y/N and her daughter?” He asked.
Johnston's blue eyes were slightly bulging and his prominent Adam's apple moved up and down as he swallowed. “Yes, sir.”
Dean waited a minute for him to elaborate before prodding him gruffly. “And?”
The other man seemed at a loss and Dean snapped his fingers impatiently. “And where did you put them?”
Understanding finally lit in Johnston's eyes and he began nodding. “Oh, yes sir. I put them in the southwest corner. Fourth row, the tent on the end.” He seemed proud to get that much out. But then he raised a finger. “Oh, the tent is red.”
Dean nodded and waved at him. “As you were.”
Johnston saluted (even though Dean had told him a million times not to) and hurried on. Dean sighed deeply and without thinking about it too much, he headed in the direction of the red tent.
When he got there he shouted out a hello, feeling slightly foolish and vowing then and there to make it a project to put some kind of wood near tents’ openings so people could knock.
The flap opened and Y/N's face lit up with a beaming smile when she saw him. “Hi!”
Not knowing what to do with her enthusiasm, he just nodded. There was a slightly awkward moment and then Emma, her big blue eyes staring up at Dean, poked her head out from behind her mom, keeping her arms tightly wrapped around her hips and leaning her head into her side.
Y/N lifted her arm a little so Emma could shuffle out from behind her a bit more. She combed down Emma's slightly flyaway curls with her fingers and then settled her hand on the little girl's thin shoulders.
She gestured to Dean. “Say hi to Mr. Winchester.”
The little one just pressed closer and looked away from Dean to bury her face in her mother's side.
Y/N gave him a slightly chagrined look. “She isn't usually this shy.” She said by way of apology.
But Dean simply shook his head. Unlike Johnston, he understood all too well why this blue-eyed moppet was scared of him. She'd watched him nearly end her mother's life - not something she was ever likely to forget.
Dean hated that that realization came with a trace of guilt. Feeling very annoyed with himself, he straightened up and nodded curtly.
“Good.” He said succinctly, responding to nothing. “I just wanted to make sure you were settled properly.”
He turned in an abrupt about face and started walking away.
“Dean, wait!” Y/N called out to him. He turned back to see her wave Emma back into the tent and head towards him. When she reached him she wore her bright smile again, and he frowned deeper as a result.
“I wanted to ask you about something.”
Dean said nothing, waiting for her to continue. She seemed to be a little nervous, fiddling with her hair. She finally clasped her hands in front of her and continued.
“So, I was talking to Eric?” She said as though it was a question. Dean did give her a puzzled look.
“Eric?” He asked.
Y/N had opened her mouth to continue talking, but then closed it and gave her head a shake, pointing to the side at nothing in particular.
“Eric Johnston? The…soldier that brought us to this tent and helped us set it up.”
Dean nodded in recognition. Yes, he remembered now, that was his first name. He never used it. “Right.” He waved her on.
“And I was asking about school for Emma, but he said there isn't one.”
Dean shook his head. “No, the parents, guardians, they look after that themselves.”
Y/N nodded. “Yes, but I was thinking…well, I was a third grade teacher in the…before.” She thumbed behind her as though their former, normal lives were just right behind them, around the corner, instead of existing eons ago.
She shrugged. “So, I was thinking that maybe I could start a kind of school for the kids here. Eric figured there were about 35 or 40 of them. So I thought we could hold lessons somewhere outside most days, but if the weather's bad, maybe we could use the main cabin.”
Dean was scowling harder now, so she rushed on. “It would only be for a few hours a day. Wouldn't be anything spectacular, but it could help them with reading and math, and just some basics. Keep the kids' minds occupied and give their parents a couple of hours on their own.”
She shrugged. “It's nothing much, but it might help people feel a little more hopeful about the future.” She finished with another bright smile.
Dean felt his ire rise with that word again - hopeful. This woman was going to upset everything, tip the precarious balance of the camp on its head.
He shook his head angrily. “We don't do shit like that. This isn't a fucking gated community, okay? These are survivors who get by together. That's it.”
Y/N's eyes were so earnest it almost hurt to look at her. “But, don't you see, it could be a community. Not gated, but open. We could do more for each other than just survive.”
Dean crossed his arms over his chest. “Look, if you're unhappy with being here, we can happily help you on your way.”
Y/N raised her hands. “No, of course not, that's not what-”
Dean cut her off with a cold, hard voice. “And you can't teach kids like this.” He waved a hand towards the red rings encircling her irises. “You'd scare the shit outta them. Take one look at you and freak out, thinking you're gonna turn into a monster any minute.”
That pulled Y/N up short and Dean could see by her slight flinch that his words had hit home. She was quiet a minute and her smile was dimmed as she nodded.
“Right. That's…no, you're right.” She gave an imitation of a chuckle. “There aren't many mirrors around, so I…sometimes I forget about…” she gestured to her eyes.
She shook her head. “I was just trying to find a way to be helpful, you know.” She shrugged. “But yeah…” She trailed off and Dean felt a sick gnawing sensation in his stomach as she gave a final dull smile.
“Okay, well thanks.” She said as she turned away. Though what she could have possibly been thanking him for, he had no idea.
He thought about Cas’ disappointed expression, and Y/N's bent smile and he gritted his teeth. This morning was not going well for him.
The day didn’t get much better from there. He spent most of it planning their next raid for canned goods. They were running low, and it was September already. Over the next couple of months they’d have to make sure they had whatever they needed for the winter. Once the snow hit, the winter roads were sometimes impassable for weeks at a time.
They were having to go further and further out from the camp to find supplies. The area was becoming picked clean. There were four or five other, smaller, groups of survivors within about a hundred square miles of their camp. For the most part they all rubbed along together alright, pretty much just leaving a big buffer of space between the camps, and leaving each other alone.
However, Dean was starting to worry about what would happen now that resources and supplies around them were starting to run out. In this last year, they’d started having to drive hours and hours away from camp to find un-ransacked grocery stores and restaurants in the abandoned cities. They could manage it because of their size, but some of the smaller groups had very few working vehicles, making it harder for them to travel. Dean worried what would happen when they got desperate.
He wanted to be ready for winter.
So, he tried to spend the day planning the best route to hit as many cities as they could without hitting too many known Croat hives, or cleaned out cities. But he kept getting interrupted by his soldiers. The concerns of the camp were unending, and sometimes felt completely overwhelming.
The morning kept being interrupted by issues and grievances his soldiers brought him from some of the camp inhabitants. He tried to put out as many fires as he could, while continuing to plan the raid.
Then he ended up spending far too much of the afternoon talking about drainage and irrigation with the young guy who used to be an engineering student, and an old farmer who’d spent his whole life in the fields. The two very different men were teaming up to try and see about making bigger winter crop plots this year. They’d grown some winter vegetables last fall and winter, and even that small amount of fresh food had made a big difference in the health of the campers. So this year they were hoping for more.
Finally the men went off to plan some more and Dean folded up his maps. He hadn’t made much headway into the raid route, but the light was getting low; he’d have to come back to it. He fried up some spam and a few of the cooked, frozen potatoes they’d put up in the spring and sat beside his fire for a while before tossing water on it and going inside his tent. He lit a lantern and started to try and look at the maps again, but he was interrupted by Risa.
Dean lifted his chin towards her by way of greeting. She came forward and dropped a small piece of machinery on his table. “Here’s the piston for that Ford we towed back last week.” She said, referring to the truck they’d found abandoned on the side of the road with no owners in sight. “Should work.”
Dean nodded. “Great.”
Risa lingered a moment and then walked closer to him. “How are you?”
Dean shrugged. “Fine.”
She moved forward to stand between his legs and then reached out to run her hands over his cheeks and down his neck. She bent over and pressed a brief kiss to his lips.
“I miss you.” She said, her voice softer and more intimate than it ever was when they were soldier and commander. “You haven’t been to see me in weeks.”
“Sorry.” Dean said gruffly and then let her kiss him again, kissing her back for a moment before pulling away.
Not willing to give up, Risa straddled his outstretched thighs and reached for his zipper. “It’s okay, I bet I can find ways to entice you back.” She said, dark brown eyes flashing with heat.
But Dean grabbed her hands and pulled them away. He kissed her briefly to try and ease the sting of his rejection. “Sorry, not tonight.” He nodded towards the maps on his table. “I’ve got shit I gotta finish.”
Risa bit into her lip, looking down at their hands entwined in his lap, and then nodding before she stood up. She lifted her mouth in a smile. “Yeah, sure. ‘Kay.” She nodded again and pointed to the piston as she left. “Let me know if that works.”
Dean sighed as his tent flap fell back into place. And that was the third person he’d disappointed today. Without his permission Y/N’s face floated into his mind. Despite what he’d said to her, he couldn’t deny how beautiful that face actually was. The red pigment in her eyes made no difference to that beauty.
He couldn’t erase the image of her crestfallen expression when he told her she’d scare the kids. That was complete bullshit and he knew it. Five seconds in her shiny presence and the kids would be eating out of her hand.
He growled slightly as he could feel himself caving. But would it really be so bad to let her teach the kids somewhere? They’d have to stay out of the way, and she’d have to keep them all quiet when they were together in a mob. But it might actually free their parents up for more of the endless tasks it took to maintain the camp.
If he let her do it, he’d have to make sure she knew he was only saying yes so that they could have the kids out of the way for a while. This wasn’t some hopeful mission for the future. It was just a practical solution for improving the camp.
He nodded. Yeah, I'll tell her tomorrow.
But even as he though it, he got up and walked out of his tent, moving towards the southwest corner of the camp. Within a couple minutes he was standing in front of the red tent and again found himself clearing his throat and embarrassingly calling out a hello, like he was the Avon lady.
Y/N poked her head out of the tent and smiled. But she lowered her eyes a little and wouldn’t look directly at him. He wanted to punch himself.
“Hi.” She said softly, and then stepped out of the tent into the cool, late evening breeze. She waved towards the tent. “Emma’s sleeping.”
He nodded. She rubbed her arms and he frowned. “Didn’t they give you a jacket?” Then he noticed she was still wearing the grubby clothes she’d been wearing when she came. “And clean clothes?”
Y/N nodded and even in the dusky twilight Dean could see her blush. “Yes, but I realized…I’m all dirty.” She shrugged. “Nothing but basin baths for weeks. I’d like to get cleaner before I put on the clean clothes. One of your soldiers said there was a place where people went to bathe nearby. But he didn’t have time to take me.”
Dean nodded. “Yeah, there’s a river about four miles south of camp. It does the trick. I’ll take you tomorrow.”
He scowled; he didn’t know where that offer had come from. He could have had one of his soldiers, or any other camper really, take her out to the river. But he didn’t rescind the offer and Y/N nodded happily.
“That would be wonderful.” She said rapturously.
Dean nodded curtly again. “Yeah. And uh…you can do the school.” Y/N looked directly at him now and her face was surprised, but clearly thrilled.
“Really?”
He nodded and scowled. “Yeah, the kids'll get over it." He said with a nod to her red eyes. "But just make sure you all stay out of the way of the work in the camp. And let the parents know we’ll have some work for them during the hours their kids are gone. We can use the extra hands.”
Y/N nodded. “I’m sure they’ll be happy to help out where they can.”
Impulsively it seemed, she threw her arms around him, squeezing his arms tight to his sides as she hugged him. Shock coursed through him and he didn’t know how to move. Thankfully it was a brief hug and she was soon pulling away.
“Thank you so much, Dean. I’m so excited. I think it’s going to make a real difference. Just wait.”
As she bid him goodnight and bounced back into her tent, he shook his head, frowning deeply.
Fuck, he thought, everything is too different already.

Cobra Kai Ships and My Opinion in Them
This might be controversial?
-Daniel and Amanda.
They’re cute. Daniel was on my list a few seasons ago because he was getting too close for comfort with Kumiko. My guy, you have an amazing wife at home, what are you doing???? He also failed to mention Amanda when talking to Sam about first love vs true love. Luckily, he has redeemed himself and I do feel that he and Amanda do love each other and are a good couple. I also adore Amanda, so the more screentime she has, the better.
-Daniel and Johnny.
Let me just say, I wasn’t a believer before but I am a believer now. The whole show is literally about them and their relationship and everything goes to shit when they are separated/fighting. The literal message of the show is that they need to work together and that they complete each other. You may ask, how can I choose between Daniel and Amanda and Johnny and Daniel? The answer is you don’t have to, polyamory exists.
-Carmen and Johnny.
This is a no from me. I never liked them together, I never thought they should be together. They have no reason to be together. They are polar opposites. Carmen is very mature and wise beyond her years and Johnny is not (I love Johnny but it’s the truth). They are just so incompatible. I feel like the only reason Carmen and Johnny are together is so that Johnny can officially be Miguel’s father, when I feel like it would be so much more powerful to have Johnny be a father figure to Miguel despite there being no legal or blood link between them. I also disliked the baby storyline because 1) I don’t feel like Johnny is ready to raise a newborn and 2) I still feel like he has a long way to go in repairing his relationship with Robby.
-Carmen and Amanda.
Yes, they are cute together, they have chemistry and they are way more compatible than Johnny and Carmen. They should totally be included in the polycule.
-Daniel and Chozen.
They are cute together. They should be included in the polycule.
-Johnny and Chozen.
Same as above, though I like Daniel and Chozen a bit more than Johnny and Chozen.
-Sam and Miguel.
I found them cute in the earlier seasons but I always thought if their relationship as a first semi-serious, high-school gf/bf kind of thing. They had chemistry before but it sizzled out in season 5. I have to say it, they should have stayed broken-up permanently in season 5. There was no reason for them to get back together. I get why the octopus reminder worked the first time but at this point, it showed that their relationship really wasn’t that deep if the thing that reminded Sam of the reason she liked Miguel was a stuffed octopus toy from their first date. It was also kind of a moot reminder because both of them have changed a lot since then. I think they have both outgrown each other romantically but would have been such cute friends.
-Sam and Robby.
I always felt kind of neutral about them but I have to admit, they had chemistry in season 5. In the scene where they talked in the dojo, I almost wished that they would get together. I don’t really mind if they don’t get together, though I do think the show dropped hints that there are unresolved feelings there.
-Sam and Tory.
The scene where Sam is in the self-actualization tank and Tory’s voice is the last thing she hears, Tory calls her a princess (in other media, that’s what the rebel love interest would call the good boy/girl/person main character) and the fact that Tory’s voice belonged to a part of Sam that she tried to repress, ummm that is fruity as hell. Every other time they interacted, they had tons of chemistry. I am all for it.
-Tory and Miguel.
I’ve always liked them together. I felt like they were different enough where they could bring out different sides of each other but not different enough where they couldn’t connect.
-Tory and Robby.
I think out of all the canon teen ships, they have the deepest connection. I felt like there was some sort of magnetism that drew them to each other and I feel like they understand each other.
-Demetri and Yasmine.
A dumpster fire of a relationship. The only reason Demetri likes Yasmine is because she is popular and he thinks that she is hot and I have no idea why Yasmine likes Demetri. In fact, I don’t think she even likes Demetri, judging by that comment he made about having to buy her a lot of charms for her bracelet because he made her mad. They are both from different universes and I honestly have no idea what they could possibly bond over.
-Eli and Moon.
I think they vibe well together and were cute together the first time round but like with Miguel and Sam, I don’t see why they got back together, they should have stayed friends.
-Yasmine and Moon.
They had more chemistry in the scene where they sat in the booth together than either of them had with their boyfriends in the last 5 seasons. They also have a long-lasting friendship, so the foundation is there.
—Eli and Demetri.
This is a ship that has a deep connection and a deep history. I am also a sucker for the childhood friends to lovers trope.I think that they inherently know and understand each other well and there is a lot of unconditional love there (yes, even from Eli’s side). I do feel like the way Eli treated Demetri when he was Hawk was largely due to self-hated and fear (I might expand more on that in another post) and I feel like Hawk is a queercoded character (probably unintentionally). This is my favourite ship from Cobra Kai.

Watching/Rewatching/Planning to Watch List
I've gotten tagged for this twice by @lelephantsnail and @blmpff and feel flattered enough to do it.
Watching:
GAP The Series-The first Thai GL that's in the style of their BL shows. It's fucking incredible so far, beyond my wildest dreams. I love all of the characters except cardboard villain grandmother(whom I nevertheless think will eventually get a somewhat sympathetic backstory), and Nop, who is irritating, but fortunately and wisely not a big part of the show. I find all the other characters interesting and they're being well fleshed out. The relationship between Kirk and Sam is quite charming. The relationship between Sam and Mon is utterly delightful. It feels fairly realistic, and the actresses have excellent chemistry. The scenes in ep 3 that established their sexual desire for each other were filmed in a respectful way that very much felt like it was made for the female gaze, which is something I almost never see when women are sexualized on screen. Related to that, I love that their attraction to each other is emotional, romantic, and sexual, but not in a way that seems like it was made for the titillation of men. The show truly feels like a lesbian love story made for queer women. I feel spoken to in a way I never have watching anything, either from Asian countries or Western countries. It's a mind blowing, wonderful, amazing, ALL the positive adjectives experience. There isn't the D/s power dynamic there that I enjoy, but I don't need it, and honestly I don't even want it. I don't think it's possible for me to gush enough about this series, and I'm not remotely interested in hearing any criticism about it because it's BEYOND meaningful to me. I'm not, of course, going to attack any posts that speak negatively about it, I'll just scroll past them, but I don't want to hear it on posts of mine gushing about it.
Okay that got intense but the point is I love this show and everything about it and it's definitely the thing I look forward to the most every week.
Remember Me-Honestly at this point the only parts I'm watching are the GolfGun parts. Name's story is too depressing, the het romance is too boring, and Champ's storyline is too triggering. It's nice to see Jafirst again, but I'd have preferred them to have their own show again.
Between Us-Absolutely delightful so far. I want to say that there are too many characters, but most of them are interesting and I feel like enough screen time is given to all of them for me to care about them. I like all the couples(though I'm especially trash for PrinceBumblebee), except the het couple which is mercifully given the least screen time. The writers know what most of us want. I wasn't remotely interested in Winteam in UWMA and honestly expected to only be watching for Deanpharm crumbs, but I'm happy to say that I adore Winteam and don't even care that there's almost no Deanpharm. I've enjoyed every episode thus far, and I'm excited to see where it goes.
Recently binged:
Oh! My Sunshine Night-It was a wild ride, but I came away from it feeling strangely empty. I don't expect to ever rewatch it.
Plan to Watch:
Semantic Error the Movie-Excited to see their story again, and for the new scenes.
Cherry Magic the Movie-Same as above. Drop a link if you know where to find it.
My School President-I've heard nothing but good things, and apparently there's lots of singing, which I'm complete trash for(yes I watched all six seasons of Glee).
Choco Milk Shake-Waiting for it to finish and binge because the episodes are WAY too short.
If anyone has any recs, do please drop them below! I'll tag @aliceisathome @gillianthecat @odi-et-amo85
and @scarefox

Chapter 4
The next time she awoke she was back in sight of the blinding hospital lights. Her head was heavily pounding and the clothes on her body felt alien to her. Her eyes struggled to adjust to the white lights of the sanitized room, but they were suddenly off.
“Back again, Miss Uley?” She recognized the voice, Dr. Cullen. “I’ve already turned the lights off so don’t worry about that.”
Her eyes finally opened to reveal the smooth pale face of the doctor. A wave of calmness rushed over her as soon as her eyes connected with his golden ones.
“What can I say?” She chuckled. “I just couldn’t stay away.”
“Well, it seems you’ve been having a recurring headache, insomnia, memory lapses, and a lack of appetite. It looks like post-concussive syndrome. Your mom told us you were feeling like this for a few days, why didn’t you come back?” Carlisle questioned. He was trying his best to look like he was breathing but if he took even a single breath all his years of self-control would be over in an instant.
“I thought if I could just make it to at least seven days it could clear me from coming back to the hospital, at least as a patient.”
“What do you mean?” This comment had perked the interest of the man. Thoughts raced through his head faster than he could analyze them.
“I was thinking of applying for a medical assistant job here in the hospital. I recently got my degree in biology, and I’ve been thinking of going to medical school after.”
“That sounds like a plan, but let’s work on getting you better first.” It did sound like a good plan to Carlisle. He wanted to be as close as possible to her every single day, but it also meant he would have to work triple as hard to control his thirst. “We’d like to keep you for the next few days and make sure you’re in good health before you can go back to business as usual.”
“How long would a few days be?”
“About four to five days, just to make sure that the symptoms don’t worsen, and we can give you an all-clear.” It would also give him a few days to grow accustomed to her smell. “We can work over that application for medical assistant, make sure it’s something you want to do.”
“Yeah, that’d be great.” She smiled at the man in front of her, her heart fluttering with every breath she took. “Thank you, Dr. Cullen.”
“Please, call me Carlisle,” he smiled. “Now, why don’t you continue resting, and whatever you need just call. My office is right down the hall, I’ll be here in no time.”
The girl stared at the retreating form of his body and covered the heat that was rising to her face with her pillow. The butterflies in her stomach had made her uneasy and had her hands shaking. She didn’t understand why she was feeling this way. It had only been a week since her first encounter with the doctor, but those few seconds were enough to have her drooling over the man like a lovesick schoolgirl.
A few days had come and gone quickly. (Y/N) had grown attached to Carlisle, seeing and talking to him every day had felt like a dream. In his free time, she would go over to his office and pick a book to read, which they talked about the next day. They spent hours talking about nothing and everything.
It had been a long time since Carlisle had felt this way, centuries. Being around her had gotten easier each day that passed. Her smell becoming comforting instead of a trigger to the endless hunger for human blood – he’d never had a simple drop of it, but nothing could explain how much he wanted to have hers. Getting to know her had been a welcomed activity by the young doctor. He could spend days upon days listening to the sweet sound of her voice, admiring her curious-filled face when she started a new book – which she read swiftly, taking only a couple of hours to finish most of them.
“Can’t believe you have so many first editions, and you leave them at work.” She ran her hand across the spine of Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment. “I would keep them in a well-preserved chamber, and no one would be able to even breathe on them.”
Carlisle smiled as the girl gawked once again at his book collection. It wasn’t hard to acquire first edition novels when you were alive when they were published. “If you’re impressed by this collection, you’d be completely astonished by the one I have back home.”
“You have more?!” He nodded. The girl shined like a kid on Christmas, her eyes gleaming at the thought of a big library. “Oh, that sounds like a dream.”
“You’re more than welcome to come over any time. It’s always refreshing to meet a literature aficionado such as myself.”
“Really? That’d be amazing!” She grinned brightly. “I could spend all day reading, forget about work.”
The duo laughed. “Too late to withdraw the application but you’re always welcome to pass your downtime in my office.”
“Sounds like a plan,’’ she smiled. “Now, doctor, what will you ever do now that I’m not going to be here every day?”
“Oh, how will I ever go on?” He chuckled. “But if you ever need help during that time, just come by. My office is always open. And hopefully, you’ll visit from time to time on personal time.”
“I’m sure it’s something that can be arranged.”
If there was still blood rushing through his veins, the capillaries in his face would have widened. He felt like he now understood Edward; how being with her made him feel human again. And there was nothing more that he wanted than to take their friendship to another level, but he wasn’t sure if she would ever feel the same. Carlisle knew that she was unaware of the supernatural since (Y/N) had allowed him to be in her life. But what would happen once she knew everything? How could he ever come between her and her family?
“Miss Uley, your mother is here,” a nurse spoke up, peeking her head through the office door. “Discharge papers have already been filed.”
“Thank you, Nurse Dalen. She’ll be out in a moment.” Carlisle smiled.
“Well, the time has come.” (Y/N) took her phone out of her back pocket and handed it to the doctor. He looked at her with a question-ridden gaze. “I’m gonna need your phone number so we can arrange any future endeavors.”
“Right,” he laughed, typing his number into her directory. “I’ll be waiting for that call.”
“I’ll be making it soon enough,” she grinned. “I’m gonna go now. I’ll see you around, Cullen.”
“I’ll see you, Uley.”
She left the office with a huge smile on her face, holding her phone close to her chest. For the first time, she was experiencing something she had heard of most of her teenage years. Once she had met Carlisle all she wanted to do was get to know him better, spend her time with him, just being near him would suffice. It was the first time she was learning what falling for someone was, and even though it was scary, she was jumping in headfirst.
“Hi, honey. Ready to go home?” Allison hugged her daughter for the first time in five days. (Y/N) nodded, truly ready to finally sleep on her own bed.
“So, how are you liking Dr. Cullen?”
“MOM!” Allison laughed at her daughter’s reaction. It was easy to see that (Y/N) had taken a liking to Carlisle Cullen, and vice versa.
“What, darling? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.”
“It’s not like that, mom.”
“But you’d like it to be like that.”
“I’m not talking about that with my mother.” (Y/N) placed her cold hands on her cheeks, trying to cool down the warm blood that had rushed onto her cheeks. The cool air of the car’s A/C was only helping her so much.
“I just want you to be careful with that, honey. He’s older than you, technically has kids, and rumor has it he is married.”
A breath hitched in her throat. Married? She knew he had adopted five kids, most of them her age, but not that he was married. Had she read the situation wrong? He didn’t wear a ring, he didn’t mention any relationship, he had no pictures of a woman in his office. Then again, they had only spent five days together at the hospital. She didn’t know what he did when he went home at night, who he went home to at night. (Y/N) shouldn’t feel betrayed—they weren’t anything, and they weren’t on track to become anything.
“Don’t worry, mom. I’ve just been picking his brain about working in the hospital, and he’s been helping me with what I’m gonna be doing this summer.”
“Oh, have you decided what you want to do?”
“I’m gonna get my medical assistant certification. It’s a three-month course then I can work at the hospital.”
“That’s great, honey.” Allison smiled at her daughter from the driver’s side. “Is that where you’d see yourself making a career?”
“Not sure. I want to take this time to see if life in a hospital is truly where I’d like to work – see if medical school would be it for me.”
(Y/N) hadn’t taken the time to focus on her future. In her high school career, she spent her time focusing on the present and piling on as much as she could, and now she had no sense of direction. She would take every day as it came, hoping one day she would find her purpose.
Finally, back home, she hopped off the truck and stretched out her limbs, stiff from the days on a hospital bed. Taking a deep breath of fresh air and basking in the afternoon sun. The cold that had seeped into her bones from the hospital melted off, and she smiled feeling the warmth surround her.
“Why don’t you go upstairs, honey?” Allison told her daughter. “There’s a surprise waiting for you in your room.”
(Y/N) smiled and quickly made her way up the stairs to see what her mom meant. Opening the door, tears forming in her eyes. Her room had done a 180-degree turn. The walls had been painted a light beige color, and plants hung from the walls bringing warmth to the room. The bed was adorned with a white cover, and a fluffy duvet to keep her warm at night. A wooden frame sat atop the bed dressed in white linen and ivy vines. A bookcase lived in the corner of her room, filled to the brim with her collection of hardbacks and peppered with potted plants. Opposite the bed was a small desk with a dark green suede chair, her laptop set up in the workspace. Her room finally felt like hers.
“Do you like it, honey?”
“Mom, did you do this?”
“I wish I could take credit, but your brother and your friend Paul came over when I was at work and redecorated. I was actually surprised that they even came over.”
“I’ll have to thank them,” (Y/N) grinned. Even though their relationship was strained at the moment, and she had yet to see Paul since coming back, she was glad that they had taken time out of their days to do this for her. “I’ll go over to Sam’s house for a bit, maybe now he’ll have time to see me.”
“Why don’t you go tomorrow, honey? You should take it easy.”
“I feel a lot better, mom. You don’t have to worry too much.”
“I’m your mother, I’ll always worry. If you’re gonna go out, go see Jacob. He was really worried about you.”
“I will.”
(Y/N) kissed her mother’s cheek and grabbed her bag to head out. Her first stop was to the Black residence. Jacob saw her coming down the street and ran out to wrap her in a hug. When she collapsed last week, he had been very concerned when she collapsed in his garage. Jacob was glad that she had made a full recovery and was now back home, with minimum side effects showing. The visit was short, only a quick hello to ensure the boy that she was okay.
After spending some time with Jacob, she walked towards Sam’s house – she hoped to catch Paul there too since she had heard he now spent his time there alongside Jared Cameron. It hadn’t clicked in her head why Paul would ever hang out with her brother and Jared. Even when they were back in middle school, he never paid them any mind, having a separate friend group. She had only become his friend by spending time with him away from school, and her brother had always disliked them together, claiming he was a bad influence.
Outside of the small house, (Y/N) could hear the low chatter of manly voices, a higher-pitched one joining after. There was no mistaking that Sam was home. She started feeling nervous as she raised her hand to knock on the door. The shaky limb was able to make contact with the blue door twice before it opened wide open, revealing a shirtless Paul Lahote.
“(Y/N)?” He questioned. Paul knew she was back, but Sam had given him clear instructions to stay away from her due to their situation.
“Hey, Paul. Long time no see, huh?” The girl smiled at her friend that now towered over her. A few years ago, they were still of the same stature, but too much time had passed since then. She went in for a hug, and Paul cut it short – worried she might note his burning temperature. “Is Sam home?”
“Uh, yeah.” He scratched the back of his neck, turning towards the kitchen. “Sam! (Y/N)’s here.”
The older male appeared in front of them, a soft smile playing on his lips. “Hey, (Y/N). Good to see you’re doing better. What brings you around?”
“I just wanted to thank you both for what you did in my room. Mom told me you worked on it while we were away. It’s a dream.” Sam smiled at his younger sister and shared a hug with the smaller girl.
“I’m glad you liked it, (Y/N). We wanted to give you a place where you could rest better after the accident. It’s the least we could do.” The alpha could hear the duo that was left in the kitchen had grown curious about who was at the door. “Do you want to come in for a bit?”
“Are you really inviting me in?” (Y/N) was taken aback – the last thing she thought was that she would get that invitation.
“Yeah, there’s someone I want you to meet,” Sam responded, keeping his doubts of the encounter to himself.
(Y/N) walked through the threshold and instantly felt the warm aura that emanated from inside of the house. It was a welcoming environment that she had grown to love from her own mother’s house. She walked behind Sam, Paul following behind them. `There was nothing that could prepare her to the sight she was met with.
In front of her stood a beautiful woman. She had tan skin, long black hair, and a beautiful smile. But there was something that stood out to her, something she was sure stood out to everyone – three long gashes ran through the front of her face. Yet, they didn’t distract from the alluring atmosphere that surrounded her. Sam moved to her side, and (Y/N) quickly connected the dots and figured that was Emily Young. The Uley girl wanted to be indifferent to her presence, knowing how one of her friends had been hurt by the union in front of her, she couldn’t help but note the love that radiated from the pair. It had been a long time since she had seen her brother as happy as he looked as he stared at his fiancé.
“(Y/N), it’s an honor to finally meet you.” Emily stretched out her hand towards the girl, which (Y/N) gladly took. “Sam has told me so much about you.”
“I wish I could say the same,” (Y/N) joked. “Hopefully, we’ll have a chance to get to know each other more. I’d love to get to know the woman my brother is set to marry.”
“I’m sure we’ll have enough time now that you’re back.” Emily smiled and grabbed a basket filled with muffins, offering them to the girl. (Y/N) gladly took the baked good in her hand, picking at it and placing the piece in her mouth – a wonderful taste that quickly melted in her mouth. “You’re welcome over any time. Any family of Sam is family to me.”
“Thank you, Emily. I’ll be sure to take you up on that.”
Not much time passed before Sam had cut the meeting short, claiming there was something important the duo had to do. “We should do this another time, (Y/N). Paul and I have to go.”
“Go where?” (Y/N) questioned. “It’s already night, not much to do.”
“I can’t really tell you, sis. But it’s important.”
“So still guarding secrets?” Sam shrugged. “It’s fine, Sam. I’m growing used to it.”
“(Y/N)…”
“I can take a hint, Sam. I know when I’m not wanted,” (Y/N) smiled. “Thank you for the muffins, Emily. They were divine. I’ll be sure to take you up on that offer and visit sometime soon.”
“Of course, (Y/N). I’m sorry we had to cut this short.”
“It’s okay. I’ll see you guys.” (Y/N) took her bag and exited the house. She was confused on why Sam had welcomed her in only to have her leave soon after – there was something big he was hiding, and she needed to find out what it was.
“(Y/N), wait up!” Paul jogged up to her, turning her around. “Look, I hope you understand that we’re not trying to push you away on purpose. There are things that Sam is protecting you from.”
“Like what, Paul? What danger could possibly be surrounding us that he would stray from his family?”
“I’m sorry, but it’s not my place to tell you, (Y/N). As much as I hate keeping this from you, Sam would not allow it to come from anyone but himself.”
“Are you serious? What kind of power does he have over you?”
“PAUL!” Sam shouted, gaining the attention of his beta. “Let’s go.”
“I’m sorry, (Y/N). I hope one day you’ll forgive us.” Paul kissed her forehead and went to meet up with his alpha.
(Y/N) stood still as she watched their bodies disappear into the woods. She debated whether to follow them for a brief second, but she was exhausted. She left back home with a million questions running through her head. The pair of Sam and Paul was a strange view, and she was determined to get to the bottom of things.
When she got home, (Y/N) noticed her mother asleep on the couch, the tv in front of her still playing. The years that passed were clear on her face, the worry that she carried for both her children plastered in the lines of her face. She could see the exhaustion that she held, years of caring for two kids by herself taking a toll on her. (Y/N) grabbed a blanket and laid it on top of her mother’s body, making sure that she was warm during the night. She left a kiss on her cheek, thankful for everything her mother had sacrificed for her.
After showering the day off, (Y/N) changed into her pajamas and laid in bed staring at her phone’s screen. She thought if she stared at it long enough a message would magically pop up. Minutes passed and her phone kept silent, not a single notification appearing on the screen. She scrolled through her directory until it landed on the newest listing. Carlisle Cullen, it read. Her finger clicked on it and selected new message.
Her fingers danced atop the keyboard of her phone, no words coming to her mind to send to the doctor. Should she even send him a message? What if he truly was married? She would never want to come between a couple. But her fingers did not follow her thought train. Unconsciously, they started typing away a message and before she could analyze her actions, she sent the message.
Hi, Carlisle. It’s (Y/N). I made it home okay and don’t have any symptoms, seems like you fixed me up! Anyways, wanted to know if you possibly had some free time this weekend to join me for some dinner at La Bella Italia. Hope you had a good rest of the day at work!
Her jaw fell when her screen read message sent. There was no way to delete it now. It was out there, and it would make its way to his phone. (Y/N)’s head fell onto her pillow and muffled a scream that escaped from her throat. This feeling was alien to her, and she was learning what steps to take to grow closer to the astonishing man. Minutes felt like an eternity to (Y/N), thinking that she had imploded the friendship she had built with the man over the past week.
Beep.
The sound from her phone caught her attention. She scrambled for her phone and quietly shrieked at the words on her screen.
Hello, (Y/N). I’m glad you’re feeling better, hopefully, no symptoms will arise once more. And I did have a good day at work, although I missed our afternoon book chats. I have a free day on Sunday. Tell me a time and I can meet you in Port Angeles. Hope that day is good for you.
“He said yes. If he were actually married, he wouldn’t have said yes,” she thought.
So, she typed back.
I’m glad you had a good day, and the book chats have an easy fix. I’m just a phone call away. As for Sunday, it’s a perfect day. I think around 5:30 would be a good time for dinner. Let me know if it works.
Sent.
Seconds later, another beep.
I’ll make sure to schedule those calls then. 5:30 sounds perfect. I’ll see you there. Have a good night, (Y/N).
See you then, Carlisle. Good night. 😊
(Y/N) smiled at her phone, joy wanting to burst from her body. She was reveling in this new feeling and the happiness it brought her. If it was Carlisle, it was worth it, she believed.
That night she went to sleep with the biggest smile she had experienced in her life. Unbeknownst to the life-changing moments that were to follow this meeting.

*comes crashing down from your celling*
I heard you like Spider-man, hehehe…
*pulls out whiteboard with all the spider-movies*
Got any opinions on the original trilogy? My fav from that trilogy is the third one due to how bat-shit insane it got. It’s always such a fun time to watch a burning train wreck, hehe.
What about the Amazing Spider-man movies? Opinions on the Tom Holland trilogy? I think the third one sort of dropped the ball character development wise but that’s probably just me.
Oh! What’s your opinion on “Into the Spider-verse”?! Personally that’s my favorite one out of all of them. Albeit, I am bias since I do have a soft spot for animated films.
*pulls microphone out of nowhere and points it at you*
Well?
Tumblr media
The original spiderman movies are what got me into comics in the first place. I would probably be a normal human being if I never saw them.
Opinions on the original trilogy: These are going to be bullet points since I have a lot of them but no cohesive thoughts.
Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane Watson is really good? People don't tend to like her, and I don't get why besides "she gets kidnapped." Well, sorry she's not a black belt in Kung Fu. Mary Jane is just the best comic book love interest of all time and the reason why is that she's her own person outside of Peter. Her life does not revolve around him. She is the girl next door, she is outgoing, she is confident, she's Peter's friend, but she doesn't just wait around for him. Mary Jane in these movies embody that because she is Peter's next door neighbor but has an entire life outside of him, her father is terrible and she wants to get out of the house, she wants to be an actor but she's bad at it, when Peter doesn't want to commit she dates other men. The upside down kiss is one of the most romantic scenes of all time you can't see this movie does a bad job of making their relationship work.
I think they should have cast someone else besides James Franco for Harry, but they also got the character right with how poorly his father treats him and how obviously Norman favors Peter.
Willem De Foe's Norman Osborne is perfect, the Green Goblin personality slowly taking over makes him such a compelling character but Norman wasn't even that great of a person to begin with he makes weapons for the military and yet he's super sympathetic as he loses his mind.
Otto Octavius is just the best. I honestly like the movie's take on Otto Octavius more than the comics one, and you can tell it had an impact because Insomniac's Spiderman game he's way more like movie Otto.
The Sam Raimi films are like the only marvel movie that actually feels like a comic book movie. Spiderman saves people! I don't understand why that's so hard to get right.
Venom sucks. I genuinely do not get why people like venom so much. If they had just let Raimi do the storyline with Sandman (the only compelling villain character) and Harry returning as Goblin we would have had a good movie. I also don't think the third movie is that bad, because the non-venom parts are good.
Tobey Macguire is the best spiderman. Spiderman is supposed to be unattractive and uncharismatic. I like Andrew Garfield too, but I'm like "This is not a kid who gets bullied in High School." They kept trying to make him younger and more hip.
Amazing Spiderman
This isn't the Spiderman I grew up on so I have less thoughts about it.
Andrew Garfield's spiderman is good no complaint there, but the whole trying to make a conspiracy theory about why Peter's parents died was just dumb. There's no conspiracy there the whole point of Peter Parker is he's just some guy.
Spiderman 2 suffers from the same problem as Spiderman 3. You just can't shove too many villains in the same movie, it loses all focus.
The villains aren't good. I think Jamie Foxx does a good performance though, I'm just not really into Electro.
Gwen Stacy, one of my other favorite comic book love interests (Gwen is a really good character she just dies) is done well in this one, and her chemistry with Peter is off the charts. There are people who think she should not have died, I think it was just rushed. If they wanted to make Electro the villain of the second movie they should have let their take on Green Goblin have his own movie. There's just so much rushed decisions in these movies they kind of feel like they were made so Sony could keep the license.
Spiderman Disney / Marvel Movies
The first two are just bad. Connecting Peter Parker to Tony Stark just doesn't work and ruins the character. He's the FRIENDLY NEIGHBHORHOOD SPIDERMAN what is this boy doing hanging out with the avengers? That being sad...
Zendaya's MJ is amazing. Proof you don't need a 1:1 adaptation of the character. She's just got charisma and she calls Peter out on his shit, and once again what makes MJ a good character is she is entirely her own person outside of Peter.
Ned is a really good friend to Peter too.
No Way Home is the only one in this trilogy I like, and surprise surprise it's a fanservice movie with fans of the previous movies and returning actors. However, this is the only one that feels like a Spiderman movie because it's all about the fact that Spiderman saves people. The whole conflict of the movie revolves around the fact if there is a chance to save his villains, Peter will take it. Also OTTO AND NORMAN OSBORNE. The ending scene of the movie where Peter chooses helping a sick man over taking personal vengeance against him is the only Marvel movie that actually feels like a superhero movie. Becuase one more time SUPERHEROES SAVE PEOPLE. I don't get why that's hard.
INTO THE SPIDERVERSE
I actually think these are the best too, but once again I didn't grow up on them, and Miles isn't my area of expertise (I stopped reading spiderman comics before he became a thing but I'm planning on picking them up soon).
Spidergwen x MIles Morales is my ship. There's so many iconic scenes in this movie, the leap of faith, the part where his father tells him about the spark (that literally had me crying).
I know spidergwen is a thing in the comics but this Gwen just goes to show that Gwen Stacy is a good character on her own. It's not even the superpowers, she's just spunky, has a lot of personality, self confident likes to tease miles but is still a teenager dealing with a lot of grief and loss (part of original gwen's character too).
SHE'S A SUNFLOWER, I THINK HER LOVE WILL BE TOO MUCH.
The nuance of Miles Morales as a character, he's literally just a mixed race kid in a special private school who doesn't really want to be there because it's a high pressure environment. He's a super complex character and that's where the emotional stakes of his character come from. THe fact he has super powers is kind of secondary.
Peter B Parker, Miles, and Spider-Gwen are all amazing characters. Though part of me wishes they wouldn't try to shove every single alternate universe spiderman ever in these movies, because I'm eternally worried the sequel is going to suffer from trying to keep too many balls in the air juggling. (Spiderham, spidernoir, and penny are already kind of pointless in the first movie).
KINGPIN!!! no comment there I just like him.

‘Loki’ miniseries producer-lead writer-creator Michael Waldron chats about Marvel’s favourite troublemaker finally harnessing his true power and wit while at the behest of the Time Variance Authority
“Everyone has been asking ‘when are we going to see Loki’s real power?’,” starts Michael Waldron, as he animatedly dives into the upcoming Loki miniseries, starring Tom Hiddleston. “To have six episodes to explore his power has been so liberating because just from a ‘pure superhero abilities’ perspective, we wanted to explore the awesome stuff he can do, and also dramatically too.”
On board as Loki’s creator, executive producer and lead writer by Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Fiege, Waldron is itching for the series to drop already. It is evident as he gesticulates expressively as he puts forth how much Loki as a character means to him.
Last we saw the Norse trickster god, he had a giant purple hand wrapped around his neck. The shocking demise of Loki at the hands of the mighty Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War broke the hearts of millions everywhere. What would the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) be without his quick-witted jests and pranks and devilish smile?
In 2019, the announcement of Loki, fans already speculated that it would take place in one of the Marvel Universe’s alternate timelines — and they were right. Dissecting and peeling back the layers of the multiverse has been “thrilling” for Waldron, director Kate Herron and the series cast and crew. “It’s a new sandbox, a new corner of the universe to play in. It was certainly a challenge to define the rules of these spaces, the Time Variance Authority and how these branching timelines work. It wasn’t just about going ‘anywhere’ it was about going ‘anywhen’.”
At the D23 Expo in 2019 when the project was first announced, Waldron called himself and Herron “custodians of the fans’ love for Loki.” Though he was not a comic-book reader growing up (he admits he came to truly know about Loki through the MCU), storytelling remains an utmost priority for Waldron, who almost reminds us that “this is television we’re doing.”
He continues, “We can pick our spots and slow down in a way a feature film never could, and we can do long and quieter dialogue scenes and build tension and emotion in the way best television has been doing.” But Waldron was keen on creating his own original storyline; taking existing elements from past Loki comics and existing TVA bits and putting his spin on them.
So far, the MCU has been extended into successful miniseries such as WandaVision, following Wanda Maximoff’s evolution into the Scarlett Witch, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, detailing Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes’ partnership.
Loki meets bureaucracy
In the series, Loki is seen tumbling into the hands of the regulation-body Time Variance Authority, headed by Mobius (played by Owen Wilson). The best storytelling comes from an out-of-comfort-zone experience and seeing natural troublemaker Loki at the mercy of the TVA’s bureaucracy is sure to be a spectacle.
At this, Waldron chuckles, explaining that “it was a blast” to tip the scales for Loki while making room for his inevitable naughtiness, Waldron says, “It was a chance for our writers’ room to delve into some therapy, if they ever had to go to the DMV (U.S. Department of Motor Vehicles). While we were writing the show, I was in the process of getting a new passport. And you go back to work and go ‘ugh, you’ll never guess the bureaucratic red tape I have had to deal with! But we got excited, too, and were like ‘That’s the TVA!’ so we used that.”
This in mind, he continues, “Taking an organisation that is so soul-crushing by-the-book, so to speak, in their managing of time and dropping the most chaotic character in all of the MCU smack-dab in the middle of that is just amazing juxtaposition. It’s a great way to have both entities drive one another crazy, instigating a lot of amazing conflict right from the start.”
Waldron-Hiddleston-Wilson trifecta
Waldron — who has worked on notable projects such as Community, Rick and Morty, is writing for upcoming wrestling drama series Heels, and producing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — has nothing but high praise for Hiddleston and his versatility as an actor and storyteller. It was integral that he pushes Hiddleston’s boundaries.
“That’s where the collaboration between writers and actors is such a joy...when you push one another,” he explains, “and my goal from day one was to tell a story of Loki that had never been told before. There had been 10 years of stories of this character and we hope folks would’ve seen a fully-realised redemptive arc. Now we are starting with this version of Loki at the end of the first Avengers film. So it was our responsibility to not retread old ground. Tom was more than game for that, in fact, he wanted to do that and go deeper into Loki’s shape-shifting identity.”
Probably one of the best surprises is Owen Wilson thrown into the mix. Known for being the early-2000s romantic-comedy must-cast, seeing him take on the meticulously attentive and seemingly diabolical Mobius will be a delight. So what about Wilson struck a chord with Waldron? “I am the perfect age [33] to have grown up with Owen Wilson in Wedding Crashers, Zoolander and Armageddon. I love Owen and he is so great in this show.”
Waldron elaborates on how Wilson and Hiddleston bring varying energies to the show. “Loki is proper and pompous, Owen is folksy and down-to-earth – so right away, energies clash in a way that’s harmonious. But what he shares with Tom is a hard-to-even-put-into-words unique charisma. They [Owen and Hiddleston] both have natural comedic abilities and they can have a purely dramatic conversation and they could play off one another’s energies and make certain the right moments funny and right moments dramatic. I didn’t even have to set up punchlines to get laughs in this show!”
