UPDATE AND ADVERT

So it’s going to be a few days before I get back to normal posting, for full transparency my parents are on vacation and left me to watch the animals.

I work a night shift job, and I normally work on this project during the downtime. However I have to get a lot less sleep because of the animals needing me during my normal sleeping hours, so I end up falling asleep during my break time during work.

They get back on Friday, and I’ll be able to get back on track with this project. Until then!

Specifically I’m looking for artists to commission for artworks of their favorite characters, original or fandom, featuring our kitties (matching the kitties based on headcanons for disorders/disabilities/things that fall under this project)! The trio post-war!! Because I refuse to accept a timeline where Allura dies. Shiro got her the circlet because it resembled her old tiara (she's still a princess in his eyes <3). Daniel and Keith went together to get their ears pierced.

Shiro is the blushiest of the three of them and it's super easy to make him go beetroot red. I'm really bad with side profiles, don't look too close at Allura /lh

Recuperating after battle is much better with company! Daniel didn't fight but he'll still take any opportunity to have a nap—after he has patched up the other two and made sure they're okay.

Shiro and Allura have a LOT of responsibility on their shoulders, leading Voltron, the war effort, the teenagers in their command and making sure everyone gets out of this alive. Daniel's priority is getting them through this.

Bugs gate! They are bugs* now, they fight in the tall grass and drink from rain drops. This started when I was drawing my fey astarion, thinking what bugs would they all be. :""D close ups and explanation for my picks bellow!

*not all are bugs we got some insects and spider here

Wyll: He is a Weewyll :D yeah i chose weevil based on name only :"D but weevils are amazing, prettiest bugs and they tend to have long protrusions on their heads which reminds me of his horns. I also gave him acorn shoulderpads because of acorn weevil Karlach: Stag beetle! I knew she would be one of the big beetles, rhino and goliath were also considered but stags have nice pinchers that work well for her horns Gale: Scarab beetle. Gale was a tough one, I considered orbweaver but i dont think spiders fit him, Scarabeus is bug most associated with magic, also they are often depicted with orbs bc of dung rolling :"D and beetle makes sense for him Astarion: mosquito of course. I considered also vampire moth, or one of the blood drinking butterfly species, but I know in my heart he is a mosquito Minthara: Black widow. An easy pick for her :"""D I didn't even consider anything other than spider but assasin bug would also be cool they are my favourite bugs Halsin: He is a mole cricket! Now this pick makes sense because in my language, slovak, we call mole cricket medvedík, which translates to little bear (they are also called Krtonôžka, which is literally mole feeted :"D) so I had to pick it. Also both mole crickets and Halsin have nice big arms Shadowheart: She is a lunar moth! Lunar- selune, its self explenatory. Moths being nocturnal and goth fits her Lae'zel: Praying mantis! I considered making her a frog but decided to make them all bugs. Mantises are aliens among the bugs, and they are perfect hunters.

May I introduce you to Mæric (pronounced mAR-ick)! He belongs to an air elemental original species I'm working on and was turned into a vampire (of sorts) by a fucked up plant species I am also working on :D

He exists in the same universe as Jae (who I don't think I've shared here yet) and Phiya. None of them have much of a story yet, I just like making characters :3

ohhhhhh you’ve given me an excuse to go off. thank you for that 🫶

okay first the reasons. i think many of the writing decisions in legendary defender were influenced by the desire to stay true to older iterations, which had black paladin keith/akira, red paladin lance/isamu, and blue paladin allura/fala. they made new personalities for the VLD team but kept them in the same old roles, to the detriment of all three affected by the lion swap

this post and this post talk a bit about how allura should’ve been black paladin while keith and lance remain in red and blue, respectively. but the short of it is this: the position of black paladin is one of leadership and responsibility. who on the team is literally royalty, which means they were raised to lead responsibly? allura. she’s also basically been co-leading alongside shiro since day one. she is way more equipped for the job than keith

and yeah no offense to keith or black paladin keith enjoyers but he is NOT equipped for the job of leader to me lmao. he also just. doesn’t want to be leader? at least at first in season 3 he didn’t want it. i don’t remember the later seasons but then again i don’t care about canon and i do what i want with these characters like they’re barbie dolls. and keith just doesn’t feel like the leader type. he’s a perfect right hand to me

as for headcanons. i think she takes the job so so seriously. like too seriously. she has a lot of experience piloting the castleship but it’s very different piloting the black lion. she spends so long building that skill and combat training with the black bayard. she has to catch up to the paladins who have been training this whole time! but to keep her from pushing herself too hard the team also encourages her to work on the team bonding that’s so necessary for voltron. (it has the bonus effect of helping everyone deal with the fact that shiro’s missing) she has so much fun growing even closer to the team as a fellow paladin. she’s still leader but they’re closer to equals and off the battlefield they treat her as a friend rather than The Princess and she’s quietly overjoyed and relieved by this

also during her first battle in the black lion she does a great job!! maybe not as good as shiro and there’s places where she can improve but she does great :^) and then afterwards she gushes to the team about how cool and fun it was to be involved in the action up close!!!! meanwhile coran’s gonna start growing grey hairs because his tiny baby princess is being so reckless!! (that’s his daughter idc what anyone says)

and when shiro does come back he and allura agree to co-pilot the black lion. leading is hard! it’s nice to share the burden with someone who gets it and is there for you. also there’s this post i made where they got silly with it :^)

TLDR: allura should be black paladin because it’s the very least she deserves
