Tbh i am not surprised that a person who openly talked about having drinking problems since 1d days, because of how crazy 1d worked has been agressive. What surprises me is people being surprised (they never seriously saw drunk person?). But i am also confused about this whole book. Apparently Maya said that that book is not fully bout Liam but compilation about her exes and some of the worst parts are not about him. But recently she said that the book is “ofc about him” so what is true then? Or did she meant it that ofc some parts are about him or that whole book is about him?

I also am not surprised- we've learned so much more about the real stories of things and about the guys' actual lives over the last years, and the story that has unfolded around Liam has been totally consistent throughout if you've been following it, and so the information Maya is telling us is shocking and upsetting but not difficult to believe. I got an anon yesterday saying they were worried about getting similar revelations about the other boys, like "if Liam could be doing this we just don't know, any of them could", and while in a way that's always true I guess, anyone could be doing anything in private like... that doesn't really concern me. Because none of these Liam revelations are coming out of nowhere, there have been many MANY steps along the way leading us here if you've been watching, and he has talked openly about both his mental health struggles and his addiction issues. So to answer that anon... to find out something similar about Louis would in contrast contradict everything we know about him and no I'm not worried about it. Is he an abuser or a loose cannon, well that news would truly shock me to my core, I will be honest. But anyway as for the book I don't find it strange that she was nervous when it came out and treading lightly and later decided, fuck it. In the absolutely on point tiktok she dropped today (YES👏GIRL👏FUCKING TELL THEM👏) she even mentions attempts to keep her from publishing the book, presumably by Liam's team, that I am riveted by and cannot WAIT to hear more details about actually- like I said I don't find it at all strange that she was nervous and downplayed it a bit then. But if she says now that it's just about Liam, well, I would say it's been clear from the beginning that the book is their story. Maya herself brought up the parallel of songs being written about stuff and I think it's the same thing; it's true (she was in an abusive relationship that involved certain kinds of events) but maybe not 100% literal (I'm sure details were changed to make the story work, it's not like a word for word timeline of their interactions or whatever).

Between some of Tuvok's favorite music being monks chanting, having a copy of a proto-Vulcan drama in his quarters, reciting poetry that no one else likes (his own? someone else's? unclear: It's a talent night which implies the former but the two who mention it say 'Vulcan poetry' - not 'His/Tuvok's poetry') buying a meditation lamp from a Vulcan master even though the guy doubled the price on him last minute, the fact that he's always reading alone in the mess hall and wants others to know he stands apart from them (taking steps to ensure this is the case), and that he's memorized The Dictates of Poetics by T'hain of Vulcan (being very opinionated about them), I feel like we the audience can cobble together a lot about his taste in media and that's honestly so special. He also likes and actively follows sumo wrestling. That's important. Not because it adds or subtracts to what I've said above but because I think it's kind of funny. He, Janeway, and Chakotay all just really like sumo.

Ah, yeah... Unfortunately a non-insignificant number of antishippers seem to genuinely believe they own the concept of trauma, so any story they read that they believe to be portrayed in a romanticized or sexualized light therefore must be romanticizing/sexualizing their trauma specifically.

I couldn't tell you the amount of times I've gotten the "stop sexualizing my trauma!!!!!!" or adjacent comments from antishippers that universally garner a response that basically boils down to

a part of me dies every time I see fanart of a book character depicted with the most bland, conventionally attractive, instagram face features possible and there's somebody commenting "wow, this is exactly how I pictured them!"

okay so you have no imagination? so you can't fathom a reality where your favorite characters aren't a perfect mold of contemporary beauty standards? this is simply a mannequin with the same hair and eye color as your character. where is the soul? where is the individuality? your mind is so corrupt by the onslaught of artificial beauty that not even fictional people can escape the standards you've developed.

and these are the same people who will see the most gorgeous, well developed fanart of a character who's been given (oftentimes book accurate) "imperfections" or unconventional features and will comment "why'd you make them ugly?"

bsky is so fucking weird. every time i make a joke abt my experience of being autistic i get Shiny AuDHDs (spiritual successor to Shiny Aspies) in my replies assuming i'm neurotypical and that i need a talking to about ableism and sometimes they are also evangelical christians. if u know u have trouble reading social cues and tone maybe just budget like 10 extra seconds to think about social cues and tone before you say weird stuff to a random person who is also "AuDHD" and brain damaged to boot...

my thoughts on the tiktok ban is that a) it's a horrible app that directly contributes to the shorting of attention spans and spreading of misinformation and it's a good thing it's being banned and should just be the first of these apps that are, b) in this hyper polarized country is that all nine justices and the bipartisan committees unanimously agreed that there is Something in the code that scares the shit out of them unlike other foreign apps which gives me major pause, c) various governments around the globe won't allow you have to have tiktok on your phone whereas other apps seem to be fine shows that it's not just america disliking the app (india says hello), d) many of the reactions towards this have been incredibly sinophobic because of refusal to see chinese people as actual people and not a faceless mass belonging to their government (why did you need a brand new app to make you aware of this fact?), and e) shein and temu fucking suck but the fact that they aren't being targeted and how easy it seems to be to access their code does not suggest the same national security risks that tiktok apparently has

people on twt and tiktok discovering brocedes are making me become a full on gatekeeper. giving opinions on nico whilst never watching a race of his not knowing what actually happened but still picking sides aggressively and making lewis sound like a little boy that needs saving or the devil himself bringing both of them more abuse especially from the incels in f1. It's ok not be involved in everything and not giving opinions when you don't know what happened/is happening. AND some are starting to cross some interesting lines on apps we know them and their families are active on. before doing something remember that they're real living humans and this is a sport.
