you wanted me to talk about ooparts from twewy. ok. this song is an absolute hot mess and it’s one of my absolute FAVORITES. but specifically only the version that plays when you fight konishi in final remix (‘ooparts -give me a chance’) the original is. eh. but the difference between them is not the thing that matters to me anyway so i guess i like the original too

first and foremost. i have gone through the process of color-highlighting the lyrics (screenshotted from the wiki) to point out which song each line comes from to visually represent just how much this massive word mashup borrows stuff. i also just straight up put the names of the songs next to some of them but i couldn’t fit them all or else this would be a mess lol. please enjoy

so basically i think this song is really cool and amazing not just bc the music goes really hard at about one minute in (but only specifically in the one where you fight konishi, at least in final remix) but mostly because it represents a few of my favorite things about twewy. the whole ‘melody/vibe over lyrics’ thing twewy has going on where it says hey who cares if these lyrics are in any way comprehensible; what matters is that it’s a lot of fun to sing

but beyond that? ooparts also does the thing that twister is known for but even better. aka word salad lyrics that may not have any innate meaning in the words themselves, but they matter BECAUSE they’re word salad. apparently the intention behind twister’s nonsense lyrics is to represent all the different clashing ideas in shibuya. it’s diverse and noisy and weird and it all comes together into something fun. ooparts does the same except its lyrics aren’t even random words; they’re from other songs in this game. including twister itself!

to me it really feels like a turning point in the game when you fight konishi, the final week’s game master, the last actual valid legal boss within the framework of the game, and you have this crazy wild song playing that, through its lyrics, serves to remind you of everything else you’ve encountered in your insane journey. it’s a culmination of all your struggles and you’re here to see it all through

and the call-and-response lyrics back and forth between the two vocalists are soooo fun! it feels like teamwork: the song. like truly this is the moment of revenge and triumph for neku and beat. they’ve made it this far and nothing can stop them now. they’re not afraid of konishi they’re hyped up to defeat her. and konishi is such a great villain with a really tricky and unique boss fight so it feels super satisfying to finally get the better of her! it’s not about fear it’s about fun! and when the beat switches on the chorus to something so much brighter and smoother… feels like that moment in the battle where you break through one of her gimmicks and you can see clearly now

in conclusion: i love the weird telephone beep song with the strangest lyrics known to man

So guess who decided to test out how much she had improved drawing these dorks in the last couple months….MEEEEEEE—And what better way to do so than with one of my favorite mini-comics???

The first time I drew it I was a little sad I couldn’t exactly transmit the emotions I wanted to through the expressions of the characters—but now that I tried it again I was able to convey it so much better!! Perhaps I should do this kinda stuff more often LMAOOO would that be cool?

you were new to playcare but you instantly bonded with the critters. you don’t why but it was kinda magnetic? if that’s the word. you first met Hoppy Hoppscotch and tried to “hop to the moon” with her. you then met Picky Piggy and you guys talked (mostly about her life there) and ate apples. you then met Catnap. he was abit off putting but still sweet nonetheless, he warmed up to you as days went by and even laid on your lap, purring sometimes.

you then had met Bubba Bubbaphant while he was helping Ms. Delight educate the kids. he was sweet but very nerdy. it made you smile. as it was time for ‘recess’, you had came out to meet a cool bigger body name “Kickin’Chicken.” you could tell he wanted to impress you so whatever he did, you looked and smiled as if you were impressed as you watched him beam each time. As you tried to find your office, you ran into a red bear. at first, you had gotten a little scared before she smiled and hugged you. “you must be Ms. Y/N!” you nodded as the bear softly put you down and grabbed your hand, walking you to your office as she talked about how much she lovedd you already.

when you finally made it to you office; you took a breath realizing those were the type of ‘things’ you’d have to work with everyday. you opened the door and seen a big orange dog, Dogday. and on the other side of him was CraftyCorn. awh, they were decorating your office even though you wanted to do it yourself to pass time.

Dogday turned and looked at you. he quickly came over and pulled you into a giant hug. you guessed he was the gentle giant. “Hi, Ms. Y/N, you’re gonna love it here!”

and in fact, you did. you loved the critters so much. they were all so nice, kind, and touchy. but the touchy part had to be as friends even if it’s Dogday placing his hands right above your ass or catnaps tail wrapping around your thigh or Bobby laying her head between your thighs. these were all friendly remarks! (no they weren’t.)

one day, the higher ups made a new critter. just to spice things up. his name was “Jolly Roger” He was some type of sheriff that was a Kangaroo. you had grown to like him and spent less and less time with your critters and more time with the second hopping animal.

the days, turned into weeks, and then months. and the times you did hang out with the OG critters, you also smelled like ground coffee. Jolly’s scent. They hated it. so they decided to speak up. sooner than later.

you were in your office when Dogday came in. Catnap had tried to follow but he quickly told Catnap to leave. “Angel and I have to discuss this, alone.” Catnap didn’t like that too much but he obliged after the other critters told him to.

���okay, Angel.. on behalf of me and the other critters.. you’ve lost your mind and you need to find it.”

you were appalled as you looked up at him with a questioning look. He quickly changed demeanor and chuckled nervously.

“w—what I meant was.. you’ve been giving a lot of your time to the other newest critter and hanging out with us less and less and.. we don’t like it so .. please think about that.”

you looked at him and thought his words over. you were spending a lot of time with Jolly and you didn’t even process it. you quickly sat up and walked over to Dogday, bringing him into your arms.

“oh, Dogday, I’m so sorry, I didn’t even notice..” you whispered into his fur before you went outside to the others and hugged them all each one by one.

“I’m sorry, everyone.. I didn’t even notice and that’s my fault.. I promise to be better to and towards you all.”

they all forgave you and from then on, you spent more time with your critters. equal time with them all. which usually consisted of you all in a big fur pile, happy and content as Catnaps tail gripped your plush thighs and Dogdays head laying on your tits. ah, good times indeed.

Ongoing Series - Thai

The Rebound (Weds Gaga) ep 1 of 12 - Fuck all ya'all if you thought I had taste. MeenPing are topping this damn list because... have you any idea how LONG I have been waiting for a real sports centered BL starring at least one boy who actually played the flipping sport? My whole damn life. You ready for me to go into euphoric splooges all over your screens? I don't think you are. SUFFER! And now some splooging:

It’s off to a great start. Thank you, Rebound, for being exactly what I wanted. By which I mean Meen has his shirt off literally in the first two minutes of the show. Also it’s a bit of a childhood sweethearts reunion romance. There’s nothing wrong with this beginning. Fantastic. For a change, I even enjoy the intro music. Golf is directing MeenPing this time, so maybe something magical will happen. Frank is aging so pretty!!! How nice for all of us. Even the bb play is good. It’s a proper sports BL. I’m so damn happy right now. 

Wandee Goodday (Sat YT) ep 9 of 12 - I’m so tired of Ter, but everything else was lovely. Also they are SUCH boyfriends. 

Sunset X Vibes (Sat iQIYI) ep 3 of 12 - They are so cute in these roles. I don’t know why, I just like their vibe better here than in the previous show. (And I really enjoyed Big Dragon at the start.) This show is a lot more classic romance and kind of pat because of that. I do hope the ingénue character gets some kind of additional development and talent. But even if it stays mundane, these two have the chemistry to carry it. So I suspect I’ll keep enjoying it regardless. I am mildly intrigued by the spice of the PNR element, so I hope they run with that a bit more. I suspect they will have to, to extend the plot for 12 eps.

My Stand-In (Fri iQIYI) ep 10 of 12 - Ah Ming... famous last words. This one just makes me sigh a lot and whimper sadly. I don’t know where they’re going with this plot or how they’re gonna resolve it. Joe finally being the asshole Ming deserves is a lot of fun though (double entendre intended). I’m scared but it did make me cry... a lot. (That's fine, I'm a sap.)  

Imma say this because no one else has. Wardrobe is unilaterally terrible in this show. I mean Thailand is notoriously bad in general but this show, nash.

We Are Cute (Weds iQIYI) ep 13 of 16 - They are so fucking adorable. And so flirty! Also a crying kiss? My favorite! Chain’s little moment of "Cupid shoot thyself" was epic. ("Physician heal thyself" but for the BL world?) Honestly, I could watch a whole show about these two...

The Trainee (Sun YouTube) ep 1 of 12 - How does Gun still look like he’s just out of high school? Madness. Does the set for the print shop that he’s working in at the beginning remind anybody else of Mork’s dad’s place in ‘Cause He’s My Boy? I swear GMMTV has about 3 sets they rotate through.

To be brutally honest, I was not looking forward to the show at all. No idea why. OffGun aren’t my most favorite OG pair, but I respect them for their longevity, optics, acting shops, and enduring brand. Maybe I just needed more of a gap from Cooking Crush?

Whatever, I was absolutely riveted by this first episode. I’m enjoying The Trainee a lot. Like, a lot a lot.

My Love Mix-Up Th (Fri YT) ep 4 of 12 - This version did the "clear up of the inciting miscommunication" in such a sweet achey way. Frankly that "ache of first love" really plays to G4's strengths as a pair. This was a good ep and I’m now starting to enjoy this one for its own sake and get some distance from the JBL version. It's just there is A LOT of good stuff coming out of Thailand right now.

Love Sea (Sun iQIYI) ep 3 of 10 - I was inspired to write a Shakespearean style sonnet in this week's trash watch. Mame seems to believe that no character can have depth without suffering. And I found this episode both boring and rushed at the same time. Trash watch here. (This week's trash watch also VERY delayed.)

Knock Knock Boys (Thurs Gaga) ep 6 of 12 - It’s eminently missable... so I missed it this week in order to get this weekly update out. Next week will be a two in one. 

Only Boo! (Sun YT) ep 12fin - Okay, that’s it, I guess?

Summary:

An idol romance about a sunshine boy who dances good and wants to be a star and a reserved food stand vendor. Other side of the tracks, grumpy/sunshine pair who fall in love but, of course, to be an idol baby boy can't date. It wasn’t particularly bad, it wasn’t particularly good either. 7/10

I Hear the Sunspot AKA Hidamari ga Kikoeru (Japan Weds Gaga) Ep 1 of 10 - A new series adaptation of beloved yaoi I Hear the Sunspot (first adaptation was feature film Silhouette of Your Voice 2017).

I expected the soundscapes in this one to be fantastic, but I didn’t expect the filming to be something special too. But it really is. I’m not gonna lie, I'm nervous about this show because I love the manga and was disappointed by the film, but we were off to a really good start. First names already? So cute. I love them.

Takara's Treasure AKA Takara No Vidro (Japan Mon Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - Shy awkward Taishin goes to a Tokyo university in order to reunite with Takara, a stranger who consoled him over the loss of a parrot the year prior. He finally gets a chance to express his gratitude but is given the cold shoulder. (My thoughts this weekend's round up)

I can't believe Japan is holding it down for the non Thai BL. I mean to say.... JAPAN!!! What alt reality are we living in? It being Japan, I'm scared of the ending.

It's airing but...

Blue Boys is still going on and I'm still enjoying it (despite the cheating) but I don't know when it drops or where it's going, so I will report in at the end. When they tell me it's ended.

The Last Time (Thai Fri YT?) - Convoluted story of loss and possible reincarnation or something. Can't find it.

But if he fails to find her within this century's time window, he will succumb to a tragic death. And this time she's a boy. Very much Director Who Buys Me Dinner meets First Love Again, hopefully better than both. I love this pair and think they can handle the premise, it's whether the storytelling is up to the challenge. I'm curious to see but I have reservations.

7/26 4 Minutes (Thai Netflix or iQIYI?) - Great is a university student from Faculty of Business and the son of a wealthy business owner. Out of the blue, he gains the supernatural power to see four minutes into the future.

7/29 Battle of the Writers (Thai ????) - trailer here, TutorYim return and while I adore them, I really hope this is better than Middleman's Love. Won't be hard. However: that premise! Ugh. Something something authors fighting - save me. Why don't writers understand that nothing is more boring than writers?

I love this way of putting the translation. Usually, in Thai, the phrase used means "he's my happiness" (sounds like: kwamsook). To use sabai is different. Sabai more ubiquitous (sabai is one of the most commonly used phrases in Thailand) but also so different from the usual phrase we hear in ThBL at this moment. Thus, this execution is special, particularly from a doctor. I'm not quite sure how to put it but sabai can also be translated as feeling well, as in, not ill. So there is a way of looking at Wandee saying Yak is both his peace of mind and good for his health and well being.

Locus is genuinely the hardest one to place and i dont think he’d come up with a fursona for himself, but he gets assigned wolf by Donut i feel it, the whole lone wolf thing he has going and all during his redemption! Which honestly???? Maybe yeah? An argument could be made for another working dog (HELLO German Shepards my god) (context here: i had a german shepard/corgi mix, he was my lil guy, he was too damn smart for his own good and patrolled the back yard fence up until he couldnt keep his hips underneath himself anymore and then! He! kept! trying! So yes that does influence my input on german shepard locus) i just struggle to see locus as a dog???? Dogs are very high energy which -gestures to red team- but locus rarely has that same baseline energy i associate with dogs??? Felix wouldve loved the energy of being like the lucky cat with nine lives. I personally dont care for felix, but he would be that guy with like, its not a proper fursona bc he wouldnt b caught dead calling it that, but he has a fursona for scamming people and driving up the prices on auctions for no reason other than to fuck with people when he's bored. I subscribe to weasel/ferret Felix personally, specifically a yellow bellied weasel bc theres just,, honestly the name amuses me with the implications. Doyle is a mouse, maybe MAYBE a rabbit, he doesnt know what fursonas are either but he just checks the mouse box for me personally,, very holdable, but skittish and might still bite you if u scare him bad enough

Dr Emily Grey does not have a fursona but she does think theyre neat and has let her patients all give her one, tho none of them agree on what she is. I think she's a shrike, specifically a great grey shrike! they're VICIOUS little birds, who dont look like much but they regularly hunt shit twice their size and are also known for impaling bugs on thorns and like, barbed wire?? theyre neat, and technically i think they count as corvids? clever little hunting machines

Kimball is definitely a german shepard tho like while im on the fence about it for Locus, there is no question about it for her she checks the boxes fits the vibe right down to the way she guards the new republic and chorus with her heart just under her sleeve

better than I thought it was gonna be and brought up a good amount of niche stuff for og fans while making it easy for the parents of the audience to understand

my specific crowd was quite rowdy lmao and it’s pretty funny that all 3 of them acknowledged it so that was a fun thing

A tincy bit too many genital, poop and 2020 jokes for my liking, but none of them were really bits so it was fine lolz

the story line was a lil wonky but there’s only so much u can do with stuff pertaining his actual life so I can’t complain to much hahaha

many voice features and singing which I didn’t necessarily expect but it was quite fun

Me watching travesty that was Kung Fu Panda 4.

Under 'read more', I have my full (unsolicited) thoughts on the fourth film - warning, I don't have much good to say about it 〔´∇｀��;;

SPOILERS! + LONG ASS POST!

So... I'll start with the positives, because honestly, I do love aspects of this movie.

Any scenes featuring Li and Mr. Ping are the absolute highlights of this film. Love them, ship them, hilarious chemistry between them. I'd watch a whole film dedicated to just them.

Though not as funny as the previous films, it’s genuinely funny, like, some jokes are deadass hilarious. (See above for example lol)

Genuinely, the main villainess, the chameleon, has such a cool design and Viola Davis provides such a good voice for her. The animation whenever she transforms is so cool.

Jack Black as Po is just so charming, you can't help but find Po so likeable.

For what little we saw of Tai Lung, he was a treat to see.

Great animation, lovely scenery, love the little animation flairs during the action scenes

Alright, now time for the negatives... Which unfortunately there is a lot of. I’ll go step by step and build up to the bigger picture I’m trying to visualise here.

The Kung Fu Panda

Po’s character arc was pretty much complete at the end of KFP3, when he has his epiphany and finds that his true self lies in not restricting himself to one label, but by embracing everything that makes him Po. His identity by this point is very well realised. Unfortunately in KFP4, the tacked on conflict of him needing to retire the Dragon Warrior title and choose a successor just… Doesn’t make sense for his character at this point. Not to mention, the movie repeats a joke ad nauseam where no one knows who Po is, or of his adventures, jokingly chalking it down to a ‘regional’ tale. You’d think the literal saviour of China would be well known. The world-building feels so much smaller for it. Unfortunately, this movie is very determined to undermine the impact of the last three movies, all to prop up the wisecracking and super cool shitass Awkafina character. Sorry, not sorry, but Zhen is a terrible character just for that reason alone. If Kung Fu Panda wanted to pass the torch down, Tigress or even Tai Lung would have been a much more compelling option, seeing as both were telegraphed to be potential Dragon Warriors in the past. Speaking of…

Tai Lung

Man… The trailers got my hopes up that KFP4 would feature a long awaited redemption arc for the OG villain of the KFP films. Instead, he’s delegated to a cage for half his scenes, and received the barest minimum of character arcs in the finale. Granted, he was still entertaining to watch, but he was totally under-utilised.

To continue the topic of identity, the film missed the chance to ask this: “Who is Tai Lung without his kung fu?” All his life he’d been raised with huge aspirations to become the best kung fu master, and to eventually gain the dragon scroll (which he was denied.) In KFP4, the chameleon summons him from the spirit realm, and drains him of all his kung fu skill. Therein lies the missed opportunity for a compelling character arc, now that he’s been cast out as a supposedly useless body into the real world. And who better to help him figure out his identity other than Po himself?

I could go on forever about the various fanficy rewrites and plot ideas, but I don’t want to let this get any longer. So I’ll talk about one more topic.

The Chameleon

I love her design, I love her voice acting, but compared to Tai Lung, Lord Shen and even General Kai… She’s simply a weak villain. (Too small to learn kung fu… Really?? With characters like Mantis and Viper who deadass exist in the same franchise???)

‘I’m the Chameleon! I do nothing but change!’ holds such potential for a far more interesting backstory. Instead of being rejected for her size, suppose that it was seen by many king fu masters that she simply didn’t possess a true spirit of a kung fu warrior. As explained in this film, their abilities are harnessed in the spirit/soul, not just the physical body. Perhaps she didn’t want to work for those abilities properly. She wanted the easy way forwards. She didn’t want to put in the proper time and effort to become a master of the craft. Spurred on by what she sees as rejection, she learns sorcery to take on any number of identities of kung fu masters. So many identities she could use to fool herself into believing she was someone talented and gifted in the art of kung fu. But it’s only a lie she tells herself. And so, she takes the drastic action, and decides to start summoning these masters from the spirit realm. But even as she slowly grows in power through the course of this film, maybe a strong sense of imposter syndrome starts to set in. These powers aren’t truly hers - what value does a carbon copy of something original have? Nothing. She never properly worked for them and made them her own.

Anyways. I’m almost done writing.

Furious five just tossed aside except for a non speaking cameo. Tigress got done so dirty - if there are gonna be like three more films, they should have been about her

The goofy-ass way he was attacked and then thrown into the cage, the disrespect lol

Li (the victim) and Lord Shen (the genocidal maniac who destroyed his village and killed his wife) somehow existed in the same space and did not get into a conflict.

Why does Kai still exist in the spirit realm? I thought he was literally skadooshed to be extra double dead lol. Like spirit literally eradicated

Akwafina’s shitass character

The villains bowing to Po feels super unearned given how under-utilised they were. I can see it working, just not in the plot we got in the end

Po’s character feels weirdly dumbed down, it’s hard to put my finger on it

For some reason, the character designs of new characters feels super incongruous and out of place.

It had been a long day for Michael. It was Halloween after all, the one day every year he went out and did… Well you already know all about that.

So when your partner came back home, clothes bloodied and clearly looking exhausted, you knew you had to help. Without saying anything you went to the bathroom and began a hot shower for him. You knew he much preferred showers over baths. But to make it a little extra special you got him a new smelling shampoo, rather than the plain non scented one he had been using. Nothing strong to overwhelm him. But something a little nicer than smelling just like… Well nothing.

“Shower is all ready for you, Michael. Go ahead and leave your clothes outside the door and I’ll get them all washed for you.” You smiled at him. He said nothing, but ruffled your hair as he walked past you, a silent way of saying thanks. After you heard the door shut you gathered up his clothes, spraying them down with all the cleaning products you have (plus a little extra) and tossed them in the wash by themselves. You made the mistake of washing them with your clothes one time. Never again…

While waiting for Michael to get done with his shower you made the bed, smoothing out the blankets. Michael came out of the bathroom soon after you were done, a towel wrapped around his waist and wet hair that you couldn’t help but laugh at. He tilted your head at you and you shook yours back at him. “Nothin, Mikey, don’t worry about it.” You assured. “I think we should head to bed, it’s late and you’ve had a long day.”

He seemed to like that idea, slipping on a pair of boxers and some pumpkin pajama pants that you seemed to think he absolutely needed. He’d never admit it to you, but they were his favorite thing to wear to bed. The two of you got settled in bed, you quickly finding place in Michaels arms as you gently rubbed his back to help his sore muscles. He had to admit, he did feel a lot better now that he was home with you… Oh and I suppose the shower and nice bed helped too, but mostly you. So he expressed his gratitude by gently kissing the top of your head, making you hum in response.

Bubba Sawyer

“Bubba?” You called out for your partner, but got no response back. You quickly made your way around the house in search for him, but when you found him hunched over the couch crying, your heart sank. Quickly you crouched in front of him, lifting his face in your hands to have him look at you. His mask felt rough on your skin, but you never minded it.

“Bubs what’s wrong?” You asked but only got a string of mumbled whimpers and blubbers as you softly brushed his hair with your fingers. He motioned his hand around his face, making you frown as you could guess what was wrong. Some visitors has stumbled onto the property earlier today, and Bubba went and took care of it. And knowing how rude the people that come across any of the Sawyers, but especially Bubba, they definitely made your man feel bad about the way he looks. And that made your blood boil. But they were gone now, so it wasn’t like you could go do anything to them. What you could do was take care of your partner and try and cheer him up.

“Hey hon, how would you feel about a nice warm bath?” You offered him with a soft smile. “Sometimes when I’m upset they help me. And then after that we can go take a nice nap?” You wiped the tears from his cheeks as he nodded into your hands, and lead him towards the bathroom. You made sure the water wasn’t too hot or cold and then turned to Bubba with a gentle look. “Want me to wash your hair for you?” He froze with a beet red face, almost unsure if he should let you. Laughing you kissed the side of his head. “Don’t worry I won’t be lookin atcha like that.” As much as you’d love to fully appreciate your partners body, you knew right now wasn’t the time for that.

Slowly Bubba nodded his head and stripped his clothes once you looked away, slowly dipping himself in the water and giving a small grunt to let you know you could turn around. All you could see was his bare back and messy hair. You made sure to get his hair nice and wet and then began massaging the shampoo into his hair, nails softly scratching his scalp and making him lean his head back against your hand. You made small talk with him to distract him from what upset him. Telling him about your day, what plans you had for the weekend, and other random things. Finally you rinsed the soap out of his hair and turned back around, hand gripping the door.

“I’m gonna go get our bed ready, take your time in here.” You said before leaving the bathroom. The bed was already made but you decided to dig out a new pair of pajamas that you were gonna give to Bubba for his birthday, but perhaps today is a better day to give it to him. Bubba came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around him and hair damp. He went over to the dresser to get some clothes, but stopped when he noticed the pajamas you had placed on the bed. A nice dark blue tank top so he won’t get too hot in the Texas heat, and some shorts that had chickens scattered across them.

Bubba wasted no time getting into the new pajamas and practically tackling you to the bed as he happily squealed and peppered your cheeks with kisses. He seemed to be in a much better mood!

Jason Vorhees

Finally for once in what feels like forever, you and Jason had a day to spend together with no interruptions. Aka, no one crossing in the camp. Which shouldn’t be as common as it is. It isn’t even summer yet!

As the two of you snuggled on the couch watching your movie roll it’s credits, Jason noticed how dark it had gotten outside and tapped your shoulder.

‘It’s late,’ he signed. ‘We should get settled down.’ A yawn escaping your lips let him know that you agreed.

Jason went into your shared bedroom to go make the bed, meanwhile you decided the run him a warm bath. Jason noticed you hadn’t followed him and found you in the bathroom running the water.

“Thought a warm bath would be nice for you.” You smiled up at him. ‘If I smell you could have just said-‘ he began signing which made you laugh.

“No no you don’t smell!” You said between laughs, turning off the faucet. “It’s just a good way for you to relax your muscles. Besides after all the work you do around here to make sure we’re safe it’s the least I can do,” You gentle massaged his shoulders before then exiting the bathroom and shutting the door behind you. “Just don’t get so relaxed you fall asleep in there!” You jokingly shouted from behind the closed door

You decided to get Jason’s pajamas laid out on the bed for him and went to the bookshelf and grabbed the book you two had been reading together.

Jason didn’t take long in the bath, and when he came out and saw you laying underneath the covers with the book in hand his eyes lit up. You could just tell he was smiling underneath his mask. Quickly he slipped into the pajamas you had laid out for him and slipped under the covers, snuggling up close to you.

“Gotta take your mask off, Jason.” You softly spoke as you gently took it off his face and set it down on the nightstand besides him. “It’s not good for you to sleep in.” Pressing a soft kiss against his nose, making his chest shake in a small giggle fit as he smiled down at you. The two of you stayed snuggled up, as you read only a short chapter before noticing Jason had fallen asleep. It was slightly difficult to get the lamp turned off with Jason’s arms wrapped around your waist, but you managed.

I just feel like ARMYs who are very obviously Y/N’s have NO reason to be judging shippers. I think it’s funny how some of them are so genuinely defensive and put off by shipping in a way I can tell is personal lol (it’s giving jealousy!). I totally understand people not liking shipping/shippers but I’ll never accept judgement from a Y/N, sorry! If you’re posting about only ONE member in a really thirsty manner after every AYS trailer and then turning around and saying “ugh, jkkrs are so annoying and delusional, jikook are brothers!” I know what you are! 🫵

perhaps this is my own bias so feel free to disagree, but imo ARMYs very clearly have a different sort of energy for jm antis and I think its partially because his hate has been so damn normalized in this fandom after years of tkkrs, but also because clearly a vast majority of the ARMY sh*oter accounts are diet solos and tkkrs and they always put an extra amount of scrutiny on things related to jm. they're also the first to bring shipper/solo drama into ARMY spaces (but only when it impacts their ship/bias) and they’re very clearly obviously lurking in solo/shipper territory to find it the way they do. the silence right now from certain accounts really does speak volumes.

sort of related, but the best way to gain a big following on ARMY twt is to get involved in whatever current drama is going on, for example MHJ drama, boycott drama, general fanwars. ARMYs will flock and mass follow these accounts, and a lot of them are diets who gain a platform and then spread their diet narratives later. one really good example is that elo person if anyone remembers all that, they literally were moots w/ tkk akgaes & calling them bestie but rebranded after they started gaining a mass following for “doxxing” and they started gaining attention because they were “debunking” the OG taennie icloud leaks (lol ofc they were a tkkr doing that). anyways they were awful and did a lot of harm, but they got that platform bc a lot of ARMYs flock to toxic accounts like that, especially when somethings going on, and then they’re impossible to cancel.

anyways, i believe this is one of the reasons sometimes ARMYs at large are weird towards jkk bc even outside of just tkkrs there are a LOT of HL shippers who take it pretty personally, especially if they’re the sort that projects onto one of the members in their ship. tbh, even if it’s not shipping, it’s a bias line thing where they want to fight over jm/jk being closer to their bias than they are to each other.

JED would probably just kill you. i’m sorry, sweet thing, but you know way too much - and unlike billy and stu he’s unwilling to take the risk of you singing to the authorities. no doubt he’s taken careful months of planning to infiltrate whatever town he’s taken to, and him tiring of you, even dating you in the first place, was an unexpected wrench in his plans. your death, like all other things, would be planned out meticulously, and he of course would make it look like an unfortunate accident after. he takes his usual souvenir photos to commemorate your time together, but he couldn’t possibly take the risk of your murder being linked to his other work! no, too much of a coincidence - better safe than sorry. jed would only take these measures if you ever became a danger to his operations, whether he came to distrust you or you became too skittish. you need to be all in - and if you’re not, well, jed could always use the practice. 

with BO, it honestly depends. piss him off enough and he’ll hand you over to his brother to become a nice new figure for the town, or in luckier circumstances he’ll just tell you to fuck off. not without threatening you of course, promising to find you if ambrose ever becomes compromised…if you weren’t that lucky, then first bo will drug your dinner, making sure you fall asleep before hoisting you downstairs to vinny’s studio, handing you over. the man will never complain about having new material - though he’s a little resigned at the thought of it being you. he goes through the motions, taking care to make you as lovely as you were in life now in death. you’d be placed at the top of the stairs in the museum of wax, waving down to all who walked through. bo would only do either of these things if you proved to be useless, sitting around all day instead of carrying your weight. there’s always things to be done in ambrose, things to be cleaned, sorted, tuned, and upkept. if you are to be unable to do anything, without good reason? well, sorry to say it but bo won’t tolerate it - and he’d already have given you several chances to turn it around. whenever he happens by your statue, he gives it a kiss, and keeps moving on. 

VINCENT, firstly it’d take a lot to get him here at all! so if you managed to push his buttons that hard, he wouldn’t even consider turning you to wax. if you’ve been so intolerant of him, of his brothers, so whiny and refuse to help in even the slightest way, vincent will kill you. brutally. this man has a lot of patience, he has to in his line of work, and if you wear him out not only are you probably a huge asshole, you provide nothing. intimacy aside, if you won’t help out, what good are you for his family? for him? it’ll seem like it comes from nowhere, but vincent has already been enduring you for a while - and he’ll endure nothing else. he’ll chase you into the basement, thundering behind you as he brandishes his scissors. when he corners you, gone is the vinny you knew and loved, his face darkened, shoulders heaving as he beats you to the ground, finally severing the cord of your life with a crunching snap of his scissors around your neck. better luck next time! 

ASA is a cold-hearted bitch and could honestly tire of you at any time. doesn’t matter how much he’s come to be sentimental over you, one wrong twitch of your brow and you’d be dying in the worst ways you can imagine. sure, he’s patient but he’s flippant - not concerned with much else besides being amused further, strengthening his collections, and his dogs. if you’re a pet of his you have higher standing in his eyes, but that doesn’t mean you’re not immune to his every whim. and he likes to remind you of that, often. there’s not much to do to prevent or influence this possibly happening - it’s simply luck. 

bonus! AMANDA would have to see if you became unworthy of life. ungrateful of her and your opportunities, so much of her decision would come from months, years of observation. you’re someone who means a lot to her, and she couldn’t just toss you out on a whim - unless kramer told her to, then well, sorry again darling but you’d be throughouhly fucked. assuming that’s not the case, amanda would take stock of your actions, your words, mannerisms, everything, and make a choice. you’d awaken in a trap made especially for you, and we all know amanda has a habit of rigging them to fail. she’d give you a sliver of a chance to make it - but if you fuck it up well, that just proves her point. you weren’t grateful for your lives together after all.

1. General Info

It’s probably pretty obvious by now, but this will be a Chloe-demption Miraculous story. I don’t blame people who don’t really like that or her in general, but that’s the story you’re gonna get here. (Granted, this Chloe will be a bit easier to make a better person than the original, for reasons I’ll go over soon.)

2. Personality

Chloe Bourgeois seems like the typical rich girl: self-centered, superficial, vain, spoiled, not very good at listening to others, melodramatic, mostly mean to other people, and used to getting what she wants.

That being said, there’s a bit more to her than that. Her lack of self control and immaturity is mainly the result of having a father who would hand her whatever she wanted to keep her busy. Similarly, her mother is only interested in the “exceptional”, so Chloe often strives to be more like her. The fact that neither parent really tried to raise her is why she’s so infantile and prone to ridiculing others to feel better about herself.

A different side of Chloe tends to come out around her loved ones. She’s somewhat overbearing and clingy, but will shower those close to her (especially family) in gifts, pet names, and affection. Compared to OG Chloe, (and most other fan made takes on her), she’s a lot softer and more naive (dare I say a little cute). Every once in a while she lets the confident facade drop, becoming quieter and being genuine about how she feels.

3. Key Relationships

Marinette: As I’ve mentioned in the Marinette MTS post, Chloe and Marinette have a friends-to-enemies storyline in the first season. Basically, Chloe’s constant need for attention and favors was too emotionally draining for Marinette, so she broke things off between them, which Chloe does not take well. At all. After spending the larger part of season two trying to antagonize her, Chloe finally understands why Marinette left and leaves her alone. Things are still pretty tense between them, but they can exist in the same room without blowing up (and if Chloe sometimes still misses her ex-best friend? Well she doesn’t! Don’t be ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!!!)

Adrien: Chloe and Adrien are also childhood friends, (only they’ve known each other practically since birth while Marinette and Chloe met in their early school years) with Chloe actually being the one to introduce the two. At first, Chloe’s glad that her precious “Mari-roon” and “Adrikins” are getting along; when he decides to keep being Marinette’s friend after she stops hanging out with Chloe, she’s a little less enthused. Adrien also plays a more active role in helping Chloe become a better person, as he’s one of the people with the most knowledge of why she is the way that she is, as well as her better qualities (that and Chloe is determined not to lose him like she lost Marinette, even if she isn’t consciously aware of this yet). It also probably goes without saying that her feelings for Adrien aren’t ever really romantic like in the OG show.

Zoe: Chloe adores her darling baby sister, and tends to bring her wherever she goes. She initially tries to help her younger sister understand how the world issupposed” to work, but when that backfires (due to that pesky traitor Dupain-Cheng and her new friends) she has to remain content with simply showing Zoe off and doing what she can to help her sister succeed in her ambitions. (Due to being more of a people and family pleaser, Zoe doesn’t really do much in Chloe’s redemption, but she is one of the characters who can occasionally get her to play nice.)

Alya: These two don’t really know each other very well at first. To Chloe, Alya’s just the blogger girl who doesn’t properly appreciate the perfect Ladybug! When they interact more often due to being in the same class, things aren’t much better, seeing as their opposite ideals and personalities clash (hardworking vs lazy, integrity vs self-indulgence, etc). They do have to team up against a common enemy though (that being Lila), as well as share the struggles of being the only two superheroes with public identities. By the end of season two, Chloe and Alya become hero partners. (Despite sometimes being annoyed at what a “goody two shoes” Rena can be, Queen Bee can admit that she’s pretty smart, and secretly considers her to be a better hero than she is.)

Other key dynamics include: her parents, Ladybug (and Chat Noir to an extent), Kim, and Sabrina.

4. Character Growth

A lot of Chloe’s development is about learning to care about others and not resort to making other people’s lives more difficult just because she’s unhappy about something. This is mainly through how she interacts with acquaintances (not being as insulting or harming the rest of the class through her schemes) and her friends (learning how to be a good friend is a major part of her character arc). Another aspect of this how she matures.

MTS Chloe’s stunted growth is generally attributed to the lack of involvement that both parents have had throughout her childhood. While she doesn’t completely grow up (which makes sense, seeing as she is still very much a child), she does learn to occasionally think things through beyond the obvious and take certain issues more seriously.

Her familial relationships also factor into this development. She both grows in relation to her family (trying to be a good big sister for Zoe and eventually realizing that Audrey is a terrible mother/person and standing up to her), and inspiring them to change as well (seeing Chloe work to improve herself is one of the motivations for Zoe wanting to be more honest with others, Andre also acknowledges that he’s been a selfish and irresponsible father and works to become a better parent for Chloe and Zoe).

Conclusion

Alright, that’s the general rundown for Chloe. The more whimsical vibes that she has might be a bit disappointing for people who prefer a tougher, sassier mean girl type of Chloe, but hopefully she’s still likable in her own regard.

Feb 2024 Wk 4

Ongoing Series - Thai

The Sign (Sat YT) ep 12fin - Everyone looked like they were having a lot of fun in the fight sequences. I’m very happy for them. I’m not surprised they shot Khem and Chart. A little shocked it wasn’t also Yai, TBH.

I found this final episode rushed. According to rumors, The Sign was originally slated to be 14 eps, and it probably should’ve been. And I don’t say that often about Thai BL. But we all knew it was getting too bloated for its britches, so I'm not surprised they fumbled the ending. For me personally, it just wasn't that bad. It was fine and I was fine with it.

Tho, Billy does not look good with facial fur, messes up those gorgeous angles.

I was ultimately amused that the solution to the mythology thread was simply to talk to the river god and persuaded him to give up... off screen. It felt very old school wuxia. Or like Aeschylus or something. I did adore the stinger, Saint was basically like “I want wings too”. 

FINAL THOUGHTS

This show is literally everything (except straight) all at once. It's BL, queer, band of brothers, romcom, erotica, PNR, fated mates, police procedural, fantasy, mystery, suspense, and slasher. It’s the king of genre mash-up chaos. Sure, it's madness but there is genius in it. Was it a crazy unhinged mess +1 roll for damage? Yes. Yes it was. Did it manage to hold all those tangled threads together? No it did not. Was it also a charming, sexy, engaging, non-stop piece of entertainment? Sure thing. I think this show is basically my KinnPorsche, and frankly I’ve been chasing that dragon naga since KP aired. Is it perfect? No. But it was balls to the wall FUN and that gets a 9/10 from me.

I'm thinking of doing a full recap review (partly because I have so many great screen shots.)

Cherry Magic (Sat YouTube grey) ep 10-11 of 12 - Since this series is following the yaoi so closely, I knew these were the separation eps. (Also I knew with would be a soft non-doom ep 11, Japan rarerly does these.) I like that they used it to show improve communication and development in all relationships, but, frankly, TayNew are just best when they are TayNew together on screen. So yeah. Let’s keep them back together, please?

Meanwhile, TayNew gifted us a gorgeous loving sweet sex scene. Thanks OG for doing us a solid. 

I wanna add, it sure is fun to see New play as soft and vulnerable character, I feel like he hasn’t done that since SOTUS.

Cooking Crush (Sun YT) ep 12fin - 1/3 of this is a sweet romance about a student doctor falling in love with a student chef, and the rest of it is utter dross. Look the OffGun bits were GREAT.. In fact, I think they’re better AS A PAIR in this show than in any of their other BLS. And I'm a hard sell on any OffGun being better than PickRome. Saying that, how can I review a show where I could only tolerate 1/3 of it? Because I didn’t like any other aspect of this show, no other pairs and no other plots. That gives me: 9/10 for the OffGun bits, 5/10 for everything else. Frankly it probably should be an 8 but I gotta go with my gut and it's upset about this so 7/10. Sorry boys. It’s GMMTV’s fault. Your heart was in this show, mine wasn’t. 

City of Stars (Fri iQIYI) ep 4 of 12 - These two are so good at making heart eyes at each other. It’s ridiculous. They don’t need any cartoon images or noises. Moot crush but "I wanna flirt and court more" is so flipping awesome. I love this for them… and us. 

1000 Years Old ep 2 of 12 - It’s very silly and we have been gifted with the dorkiest vampire ever. But... the smell thing makes me so happy. And I like that the vamp uses chan/nai or tan = v old fashioned. Nahlak. I love our ghost girl. Did you notice she wasn’t in the room with them but they left an empty chair for her? Also nahlak.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Perfect Propose (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 5 of 6 - Kai was pretty much just “you're a workaholic but I basically married you whether you like it or not.” SMOOCH. What can I say? I'm a sucker for this dynamic.

AntiReset (Taiwan Fri Viki/Gaga) ep 5 of 10 - How is this show so cute? How do they both love and hurt each other so much. They are both just scared of loosing each other. Gah.

Unknown (Taiwan Sat Youku YouTube) 1 of 12 eps - Youku dropped the first ep to their YouTube channel but I doubt we can expect that to continue. Still, it was nice to be able to watch it in a convenient way. I enjoyed it. But I am cautious about it. Of course this is possibly two of my favorite tropes of all time (stepbrothers or a variation + hyung romance). So I’m looking forward to the romantic thread, but from the gritty style, it feels a lot more like a Taiwanese short. Which means it could go very dark and may not end happy. 

Although I Love You and You AKA Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 7 of 10 - I just don’t know if the main couple should be a couple. But when they finally get around to talking to each other, they sure are lovely. Also how great is it to see a uke initiate a kiss? Even if it’s not a very good kiss. 

My Strawberry Film (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 2 of 8 - I am still not sure about this one. I am not contesting its quality, just saying it’s not for me. Also I’m not wild about what amounts to basically a redo of everything that already happened in the first episode from a different perspective. I know it’s a tall order with Japan, but I would like (when it’s a short series) for each new installment to actually move the plot (such as it is) along in someway. Am I asking too much?

Why I think Nocturne is way better than the OG Castlevania series

Sorry, when I try to shut up about this show I be like

so here’s my unsolicited, highly biased word vomit that will contain spoilers at the end (but those will be under a cut) so read at your own risk! Okay, leggo

It’s actually diverse.

One thing about high fantasy is that it’s almost always Eurocentric. Even if it’s not set in Europe, the characters are gonna inexplicably have British accents because we associate that with high fantasy. We’re gonna have European style “old” clothing choices. And if everyone isn’t white, they might as well be because they’ll only throw in a couple ambiguously brown side characters and call it a day. Or if they make a main character a POC then best believe everyone around them will be white.

Nocturne, tho? Oh, you can tell it’s made with more than just a sprinkle of representation. They didn’t just make Olrox indigenous, they tied his Aztec lineage in beautifully. Annette was a slave but it’s not flattening her character because of it. Drolta came to slay but even she has her authentic background. Which leads me to my next point!

The Black characters especially are done tastefully.

Like… don’t get me wrong. I love Isaac. He was the only reason I stayed tuned into Castlevania past season 1, LMAO! But his backstory felt like straight trauma porn cooked up by a non-Black person who wanted an excuse to see a Black man whipped for character development.

Zodwa Nyoni wrote some episodes for Nocturne and she put her FOOT in it. When it came to addressing Annette’s time as a slave, her connection to the Orisha through her bloodline… I was gobsmacked at how accurate everything was and now I know why LOL! Like, for me, it’s always gonna be hard to see slavery in fiction but I can’t say shit bad about how it was tied into everything in this show. Annette’s ancestors play such a huge part in her growth and it just warmed my heart to see a Black girl whoop some colonizer ass without it feeling hamfisted. 🥹

The token relationship is the cishet one, everyone else is gay asf

I love that trope flipped on it’s head, ngl LMAO! I, by default, HC everyone as bi anyway but MAN was it nice to see Olrox and Mizrak speedrun enemies to lovers and a hint of Drolta’s devotion/gayness to Erzsebet.

I know the majority of my fictional character thirsting leans male but don’t get it twisted; I jump for JOY for gay shit in media 😂 The only reason I don’t thirst as hard for female characters is because I prefer my men fictional but my women real.

That being said, this series sent me into bi panic and I’d like to be manhandled in a room by Drolta and Olrox.

Nocturne’s first season plays out neater than the OG’s first season.

Like… okay. My main beef with the OG series was that after they defeated Dracula, the rest of the show felt like a meandering fanfic. Sure, there were a few badass moments, but the energy kinda faltered for me and I was bored with a lot of it. I hope they don’t do the same with Nocturne; they left off at a nice cliffhanger which builds anticipation for the next season and… idk it feels more cohesive already? They coulda speedran kicking Erzsebet’s face in like the OG trio did to Dracula but I’m so glad they left us a lil something to look forward to.

He looks more like his video game design this way too, which I love! I hate that he took out Cuntress McSlay tho 😔 Drolta I will always love you!!
