Hello! Big fan of your art pieces. Read your latest comic about the origin of cannibal Lady Lamb and I must say, though I do not endorse literal cannibalism, much less of one's kin, that brother of hers fully deserved it, 100%. Though I do have questions as well, if you don't mind me asking.

In that comic, Lamb seemed to have been a sacrifice of a cult of some kind, which is why she got that scarring mark on her neck. When did that happen when she was a kid, and how come she didn't die at their hands? How did she escape? Was it kept hush hush?

What is Lamb's public front of business, and why the surprise when she started wearing black instead of white?

Did the police ever managed to trace the brother's death to her? What got her hunting down the rest of her siblings? Did she get her parents too, or did they die before it happened? Why did her brother got so ... interested in her like that?

Heyyyy I saw your Danny Phantom comic about him reading the Great Gatsby during the fight with Vlad (great art btw), and I was wondering if u could give a long-suffering student a rundown of the themes?

I’m gonna cover the themes I can think of off the top of my head and if you really need me to go into more details, I CAN??? But this is just a quick “it’s 7 in the morning for me and I’m actually gonna hyperfixate real quick” kinda moment.

Yes, there are two kinds of rich people, and yes, one side really doesn’t like the other. It’s apparent in Tom and all of his opinions of Gatsby are later on in the book when he finally attends one of his fancy parties.

Old money gets their opinions and styles and tastes from their parents who got it from their parents. It’s a boys club, if you’re in? You’re in, and it’s hard to get in unless you’re of a certain pedigree.

New money? Loud. Outrageous. Doesn’t even know what to do with all that money and everyone is welcome to enjoy it. Gatsby owns a BRIGHT ASS YELLOW CAR not because it’s of a certain model but because it screams loud and expensive and “look at me” and it’s not just cause he’s trying to get with your wife. He knows how to ACT like old money, to a certain degree, but at the end of the day, he can’t hide that he wasn’t born into it.

An unreliable narrator is usually a story told from a first person point of view and their own biases can often warp the reader’s perspective on the events unfolding. Nick even tries to clarify that he doesn’t judge people. Yeah, OUT LOUD, but he’s judging internally. Which is making you, the reader, judge. Tom has an affair with Myrtle Wilson. Nick IS quietly judging them although he tries not to and how could he not? Daisy is his cousin, and he sees the man she’s married make her move away from Chicago and Tom is not hiding his affair very well, she clearly knows about it and hates it.

Oh but here comes Gatsby, with this beautiful story of how he fell in love and went to war and couldn’t be with her and came back and she’s MARRIED and now he’s trying to win her back- and Nick HELPS HIM. THAT’S NOT UNBIASED. HE IS SWAYED. He sides with Gatsby through and through, even when he starts to see the flaws in Gatsby’s vision, he wants to cheer for him.

We’re going back to the green light here for a minute. Gatsby gets a house DIRECTLY ACROSS the lake from where Daisy’s is. There’s the green light at the end of her dock that flashes, that’s a reminder to Gatsby when he looks out that his dream is just over there. Daisy, the perfect gal, along with acceptance into the fancy rich lifestyle. He wants to meet her parents, he wants to have kids with her, he wants to be a somebody, an established respectable person.

But he’s kind of fooling himself too. He wants too much. It’s not enough to have Daisy, she needs to RENOUNCE her ever loving Tom and then properly marry him. He wants to be a part of the boy’s club, but Tom finds out that he has gained his wealth through the mafia and that’s not very respectable! He wants Daisy to call him in the morning, a call that never comes because she won’t cast aside her lifestyle for him. She was raised to trust and live in the sheltered life she was brought up in, even if she’s unhappy. It’s safer than the unknown. She chooses to stay with Tom, as even she realizes she can’t live up to Gatsby’s ideals.

It’s ironic cause this is the Oxford English Dictionary definition and Gatsby is an “Oxford Man!” Not only has Gatsby idealized on the American Dream, but it’s a dream that was never real. Yes, he did get rich, but not because he had equal opportunities. He got lucky to help out an old rich man on his boat (WHICH HE DIDNT EVEN GET ANY MONEY FROM) to learn the rich social skills, and he worked with the mafia to get all his wealth. Yes, he got Daisy, but not REALLY. He had an affair with her. They didn’t marry properly, didn’t have kids, didn’t move in together. And Daisy never intended on doing any of these things. She wanted to run away.

And Gatsby was never going to get these things because he wasn’t BORN rich. Tom represents the concept of Old Money so well not only in how he lacks any genuine character that isn’t inherited from his father, but how protective he is of keeping the status quo, so that he remains in power and no one who doesn’t fit the club can come in.

And Gatsby pays the price of his affair while Tom gets away with everything. How is this the American Dream? It isn’t.

Okay, that’s my stuff. I can go into symbolism on the yellow car and big billboard and all that other stuff if this was helpful at all. I hope it is helpful???

Had fun watching it mostly to critique and overanalyse it and then I was like oh wow everyone here is crying. Huh.

I expected the sore lack of yuri I could project onto but I did not expect to be gaybaited twice (post-timeskip I thought shoyu's mom married a black woman with a toddler but in fact the toddler is shoyu's sister's kid, and shoko's younger sister pretending to be her girlfriend to try and get shoyu to piss off) which frankly made things worse.

The pacing was jarring and the emotional beats nonsensical, to the point where I had a lot of trouble trying to keep the drama straight.

Naoka x shoko should have been endgame. OR shoko x miyoko. Or both love wins. Naoka and miyoko are just such dykes they were my faves

Oh boy. Fat comic relief best friend. Great.

And that is absolutely so sweet to hear!! 😭 the time around when i made the art i was more hyperfixated on dognap (i still am but its like a regular hyperfix now) so i thought itd be cute to make natasha and anatole as dognap- realisticly, bobby should be natasha instead and dogday being dolokhov—but i thought itd be a lil funny to make DogDay as natasha instead (plus pretty dress for a dog)

Anatole is not the male lead, no! Basically anatole is 10 years older than natasha, being a bad influence on her, thus why they didnt get together in the musical. I wanted to sorta separate from that plotline, and instead surround it by the prototype from the main game; dogday wants to marry catnap, but he "cheats" and gets caught up with the prototype, causing his death and leaving dogday to become very ill. (referencing 'natasha very ill' here) dogday did all he could to save catnap from the persuasion of the prototype but it all went to hell, but he grew a stronger bond with bubba and kissy :'-) you win some you lose some, i guess! Dogday and catnap would be the same age here to make it less creepy just like the musical 😭

I might rethink the roles a little bit now that you've brought them up again in this ask, SORRY FOR THE LONG TEXT BTW HAHA,,, id absolutely love to make more art for it! I was going to write in the tags but, i felt like writing It here

So, in my case, i find this funny cause, i married my first follower, i named him bolo, cause if you switch the letters, It makes the Word lobo, which is wolf in spanish, and, the funniest thing is, its not even the wolf skin as its not unlocked that early on the Game, so i used the fox one and legit thought it was a wolf

Another funny thing is that when i played It at first, when you chose the rituals, you lost the other options ( now with the DLCs you can get the ones you didnt choose at first which was very much needed ) i chose the funeral ritual instead of the reviving one i dont know why, so when bolo died, i didnt wanted to just, stay single, and i didnt wanted to marry another follower, so i kid you not i just grabbed a random follower i found and named It Bolo II, and then It died, so Bolo III was born... Then bolo IV... But that was the last one, after that, the first DLC came bringing us the lost rituals, i revived the first bolo and... Well, lets say bolo IV didnt stick around much longer, but yeah, thats the story of my first follower, now he has a golden skull necklace like the one on the comic

Thoma gleefully watches Ayaka practice the art of her blade, with you training by her side. You, the six year old Kamisato, look up to your sister with so much respect. You wanted to be just like her when you grow up. There's so much to her that people don't know, and you look up to every single trait of hers, flawed or not.

But unlike your sister, you admired the Chief Retainer in more ways than one.

Jade-green eyes look at you with mirth. The side of Thoma's eyes crinkle when he sees you walk up to him again with another plant in your hand after being defeated by Ayaka in a duel. The first thing you gave to him was a simple sweet flower, then the blue mint flower, until they turned to sea ganodermas and silk flowers imported from Liyue- a rare find Thoma thinks, but you never reveal where you get the plants from.

"Thoma!" You call out cheerfully, holding a basket of sakura blossoms.

Ayaka covers half her face, quietly laughing while being the dignified woman she is. She admires your stubbornness for your 'Operation: Make Thoma Fall In Love With Me!' You had confided to her about this operation of yours and she gladly helped you, finding your persistence funny.

Sheathing her blade, Ayaka walks behind you, silently waiting for your next move.

"[Name~]," he singsongs, opening his arms to give you a hug, but you evade his hug and eagerly show him your sakura blossoms instead.

Picking up a petal, you show it to Thoma and give him a toothy grin, "The traveler helped me get these blossoms!"

Thoma places his hands on his knees, crouching to your height and looking at the blossoms and picks one petal up. It gives him a tiny jolt because of the electro energy inside it, but he thanks you nonetheless.

"Wow! You're certainly getting better at finding treasure." He inspects it, comically with his hand brushing his chin. "Great find detective," he says, switching up his accent for a bit to play the role.

"Why, thank you good sir!" You copy his accent horribly enough that Ayaka is on the verge of tears from trying to laugh quietly. "But really though..."

Thoma hums, clicking his head, urging for you to go on when you stopped your accent.

"Will you marry me now?" You ask for the eleventh time this month.

Thoma laughs and ruffles your hair endearingly, "Haha! Sorry kiddo, but you know me. I can't say yes to that I'm too old!" He gently takes the basket of sakura blossoms from your hands, "But I accept your gift, so thank you."

You groan, poking Thoma's cheek the way he does to you when you come home with scrapes on your knees from playing outside. "But Thoma! I'm six and a half," you exaggerate the last part to get your point across. "I'm old too!"

Thoma gasps, clutching his chest dramatically with a hurt face, "Your grace! Are you implying I'm a grandpa?"

"I mean, you are old. You said it yourself!" You quickly defend on reflex because of Thoma's frequent jests.

You feel two hands on your shoulders and you see your sister smile at you with her eyes, "Come now, [Name]. I'm sure grandpa would like some alone time brooding about his good old days."

She points a look at Thoma, "Isn't that right, Thoma?"

Thoma gasps again, "Oh, the betrayal! You're ganging up on me?"

You bottom lip stick out, sulking while Ayaka brings you inside the estate. "Tomorrow, I'll find glazed lilies, so then he'll have to say yes!"

"And where would you find these flowers?" Ayaka questions.

"In Liyue, duh!"

If only it were that easy to obtain flowers from different lands, but you still had yet to explain how you got your hands on silk flowers.

BONUS:

It's been years since you last gave a flower to Thoma. You grew up, refined, elegant and have a way with words. Boys, girls, and everyone in between soon became smitten for you. Every time you leave the Kamisato estate you see letters and flowers with your name brandished on it.

"Hey, look at that. Hello, heartbreaker," Thoma teases, strolling his way to you.

You wave a hello, poised and graceful before sending a playful punch on Thoma's arm. "Hey look at that. Hello, grandpa."

You see him as a brother. You realize, you had always seen him as a brother, but you could never really tell your feelings when you were six. It was just a puppy crush.

1. Why are people being so moralistic about marriage in your inbox? Like not everyone had to view marriage from a traditional Christian perspective? im not sure why people are being moralistic about it. i think it comes from personal experience. divorce can be messy and traumatic, so that may color some peoples views. not sure why its happening in my inbox, but stuff like marriage is fun to discuss though, so im having a good time at least.

i didnt even get into marriage in terms of how it relates to gender and queer identities, as well as other minorities, and how marriage is another social institution that can hold up oppression and class the same way all other social institutions can. it depends on a lot of factors how one defines marriage. what country do you live in? culture? ethnicity? what's your religion? social class? gender? etc. its a lot!

and i think that ties into what you mentioned about how this somehow spurred from how i mentioned divorce in the context of the avatar universe, which would define marriage and divorce differently than western society does as its based on asian and indigenous cultures.

i wasnt very specific about the exact situation behind the concept of iroh being divorced, mostly because i was being comedic about the fact that iroh does not fit what some people may think of when they think of divorcees (aka from my experience most takes assume irohs partner is dead). but i did imagine that if he was ever married, it would be for political reasons due to being royalty and in general high class. it would have to be approved by fire lord azulon, at the very least. divorce would probably be pretty rare, as marriage is less for love and more about your nation, your family, duty, etc... so doing so would probably be in defiance of those social norms... very different, at least, to divorce one might experience in a modern western and christian society and what morals you would apply there.

mmm yes and no! as i said in the ask before this, western comics as a form of media is incredibly convoluted to get into. it’s actually ridiculous and as i said, i genuinely wonder how that medium of entertainment has lasted into the 21st century with all the reboots, character rewrites, necessary requirement to also read pages from other concurrently running comics, etc etc.

naturally, through absorbing material through mutuals or who you follow or whatnot, as well as maybe watching the occasional movie/tv show/animated one, you will gleam enough information on a character, in this case nightwing, to probably learn that in the early 2000s, they shook out some of the cobwebs in his backstory to make him romani instead of yknow. vaguely white. i think that little bit of information has lasted longer than anything else truly beyond ‘he was robin’, and in some instances people understandably consider that to be the initial... creation take. which is fair! i get that. i did think that too before i genuinely went right into reading comics 5+ yrs ago. 

for me personally another example which is far more recent in terms of media, is that i personally had always assumed scarlet witch/wanda maximoff was romani because that was something i almost always knew about her, without actually reading her comics or really any marvel material. even seeing her in the movies it was kind of hhrrrrmmmm with the way they wrote in her involvement with hyrda. upon reading her wiki page, i learned that for like 30 years, magneto was assumed to be her and pietro’s father, until it was changed in 2014. also didnt know that in the comics she actually did marry vision lmao. but i didn’t know that on the odd occasion, a marvel writer would come in and erase her identity like that to the point apparently its hotly debated??? ok.jpg. like whatever info i had gleamed about her was from like the occasional post on twitter back in like 2014, and maybe paying attention to the mcu.

so... yeah. i dont think not knowing what the actual reasons behind the decision to make dick grayson romani, at least for a period of time, doesn’t make you a bad person. how were you genuinely supposed to know? maybe one day you actually are interested enough to google a comic book character youve seen around. and you actually do happen to stumble down the path of people actually explaining devin grayson’s involvement in nightwing’s early 00′s story. or, you could end up on a million other different threads. you could get stuck in a timeless loop of how many times batman has been written and by how many different people, and how nightwing was at one point batman (the best batman, btw, hands down). you could end up with people still to this day debating lobdell’s portrayal of red hood, starfire and arsenal, even though they seemed to have completely buried that initial run, because it relates to starfire’s sexy amnesia and dick/kori’s prior relationship. there’s no straight answers on the internet to have told someone earlier that devin grayson’s intentions were not on the side of actual diversity and representation. so... i dont think you can blame people for either trying to research and just giving up because there’s too much shit stuffed around the actual answer, or just accepting a fact because... everyone else had. with relativeness applied here, obviously, talking about a comic book character, and ofc my opinion in all of this. someone else may have some other opinion and that’s fair.

okay so now im gonna go into full detail, i will talk abt shit i didnt like or shit i loved and i will explicitly use plot details etc. i mean i wont recount the movie word for word, but THIS IS A MASSIVELY SPOILERY POST, youve been warned

btw this post is going to be a mess im just gonna talk abt shit as it comes to my head so here we go

its so funny they make eddie brock into the most san fran motherfucker alive, like they mention that he had to leave new york bc of his journalistic shenanigans but like. the first scene of the movie when you see him, hes living in one of those San Francisco homes, on a high San Fran street with a San Fran street cart and hes wearing a San Fran pajamas like its so funny when you think abt the fact that comic!eddie is friends with every single pizza rat in new york and wouldnt trade it for anything

eddie gets called a dumbass in this movie... like his boss goes ‘for such a smart guy you can be a real dumbass’ and i gasped audibly... wow... finally some representation 

eddie starts off the movie in a very good place, he’s a successful social justice journalist with own show (which is. kinda bonkers bc when ur watching him host the show u dont rly believe that he has the charisma needed for the ‘Eddie Brock Show’), he’s about to get married, has an excellent house etc. but then he pushes riz ahmed’s character (who by the way is named ‘Drake’ i cant) too far in his quest for social justice and truth and loses it all the next day, becomes the typical washed up almost-hobo. now, in my opinion, theres absolutely no need for those scenes, they could have been completely cut out of the movie and we could have started off with already depressed, jobless eddie. like we dont need to see him lose his status... bc it doesnt play into his motivation at all!!! at best it sets up his ex-fiance character but we didnt need that either!!!!! usually im very anti-exposition but this definitely could have been done thru exposition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

the scenes with depressed tom hardy trying to live his life were incredible, this is how we should have introduced the character. have sme other guy be like ‘hey arent u eddie brock? that social justice journalist’ and thats all u need!!!! SONY U FOOLS !!!!!!!!!!

god i know i said this already but the scenes after eddie gets the symbiote... god so fucking funny like.... wow.... too bad theyre slowed down with the whole ex-fiance and her bf bullshit. you havent lived until youve seen tom hardy go into a restaurant and cause a scene and then proceed to eat live lobsters

and as u can tell im not very keen on the fiance shit... mostly bc im such an eddie/symbiote fan and like... she had an EXTREMELY valid reason to dump him, i would have done the same, it just sucks that they have to get together and that the ‘eddie kisses symbiote’ is actually ‘eddie kisses his ex-fiance wearing the symbiote’ 

i mean technically they dont get together but u know what i mean. hetero energy is all over the place

the symbiote.......................... what sucks is that theyre suddenly a He in this movie, i guess sony isnt woke enough. and that they introduce themselves as venom which is like. not to nitpick (but i will), but symbiote is definitely genderless in comics (eddie always refers to it as ‘my other’ and their kid refers to it ‘my parent’) and the symbiote has no name, eddie + symbiote = venom. the symbiote isnt called venom, it doesnt have a name really 

BUT GOD SOME SHIT WAS SPICCY........ when the symbiote is introducing themselves to eddie they literally say ‘i am venom. and you are mine.’ and go on to say ‘you did not find us, we sought you out.’ like god my man.......... thats some good shit........... 

but the symbiote itself is such a dumbass jock sihgidhg i love it, eddie is a dumbass artist, symbiote is a dumbass jock. it literally calls eddie a pussy at one point and its actually fucking funny dihgihdigfkghk

theres a scene in which eddie wants to drop smth off at his ex-boss place but the guard doesnt let him, the symbiote nonchalantly goes ‘oh you want up? why didnt you say so’ and then smash cut to venoms powerful horny body scaling the building like idhgihd i love them both

AND GOD, THE SYMBIOTE’S MOTIVATION BEHIND SAVING THE WORLD IS SO FUNNY ...............

the symbiote delivers a speech abt how they need to stop the other evil symbiote and its like ‘this world is worth saving’

eddie: is that why we’re going to save it

symbiote: WELL... TBH... IM KIND OF A LOSER BACK HOME.... BUT IF IM HERE... I CAN BE SOMEBODY... THATS WHY WE NEED TO STOP OTHER SYMBIOTES FROM COMING TO THIS PLANET AND EATING IT ALIVE... SO I CAN BE THE ONLY COOL ONE

i have a lot of ideas abt how to streamline this movie and make it much better but ill be real my post-movie high is wearing off and its like... woo.... dang... that sure was an experience huh.......... 

OH OH GOD they have a scene eddie and symbiote are getting chased and symbiote saves him and eddie (who is still shocked at the sudden symbiote reveal) goes ‘thank you’ and symbiote immediately replies ‘youre welcome’ like that shit is so funny????????

XD But this is such a great addition, I have always loved these two since you introduced them back in the end of spring/beginning of summer. Hard to believe its been that long! 

Yes, I did choose that gif for a specific reason btw. 

So I have been following this series from the beginning, and let me say this Stella is absolutely breaking my heart. She is having such a good time with Jake, like old time vibes. They used to be so damn comfortable (most the time) with each other that any interaction has this playful child like vibe to it. The teasing and joking with one another. 

But you can also feel the tension. I feel like Jake is double thinking everything he is saying to her right now, which is so unlike him. I mean he comes up with dumb random facts and just spits them out whenever. And he always seemed to be kinda upfront with whatever thought came in his dumb puppy like brain. But now hes really considering, how far to push this issue with Stella. And that, Just makes my heart ache. Evans... that man has now gotta go. I liked him at first, but I dont like this person Stella is becoming because of him. She is not the girl for him. Also if all that Jensen assumes is true, Evans needs a serious wake up. Like right upside the head about manipulating. Fucker. Okay enough ranting. 

That flashback! now that showed the sweet goofy Jensen I adore. The whole read was just brilliant. Comic moments, his relationship with family. They are just damn laid back. I cant get over how much his dad instigates shit. Hahaha. The friendly betting going on had me laughing, and then when he placed that bet, i was like game on. Ten minutes? Lets see what you got Jake. 

And holy damn did that deliver, stall sex? Come on, how could anyone say no to that? I sure as hell wouldn't. But the BEST part of it all was the homeboy jokes and the baubles falling off Stella's sweater. I wonder how many the staff picked up off the floor that night. LMAO. 

Getting jerked back to the present made me sigh a bit. I really adored seeing that loose friendly drunk moments with Jake. Like he was so fucking cute going on about how he was gonna marry that girl. (Fuck you really are a dumb boy Jake, years later down the road) 

Evans showing up. Okay, if I had hackles, they probably would have been bristling a bit. I felt like Pooch’s was to, cause damned if he didnt go right for the throat about his stag party. I feel for Stella, but damn it girl, wake up!!! Evans just is manipulating you and using guilt to bring you down. Not good for your soul Baby. 

Using the Ugly Sweater prompt was an excellent choice for this fic, and glad you two chose it. It really fits with The Losers demeanor and Im glad we got to see a wonderful holiday moment for them.
