Bullseye
Robin wasn't against marriage. The president was rather insistent that he get married and carry on the bloodline. Producing stronger archers for the next generation.
Most called him a prodigy, but truthfully, he wouldn't have gotten far without his nee-chan. She was the one who trained him. He wouldn't be half as good if not for her.
He didn't really understand the sad look in Bachiko's eyes when his engagement was finally announced. "I'm sorry Robbie..." Why was she so sad?
Just because he was getting married, it didn't mean he had to stop doing the things he loved. Besides, the president was the one who picked his bride. He was sure that everything would work out!
He dashed to the training grounds excitedly. He was supposed to meet her today! He wondered what she'd be like? Would it take time to win her over? Would she be sweet?
Whose to say? One moment, he's zipping by the next he crash lands into a pit. He lands on his back, staring up at the sky, confused. Did one of his cousins dig a hole?
A shadow peers over him. It's not anyone he recognizes. Her long hair flowing past her shoulder as she leans over, getting a better look at him. His jaw drops, and he can only stare back.
His heartbeat is pounding rapidly in his chest. He wonders if she can hear it echoing? She continues looking at him and then... he hears it. She laughs.
It's the most gorgeous sound he's ever heard. She sits on the edge of the hole, kicking her feet amused. An amused look crossing her pretty features. This had to be her.
This had to be the one he was going to spend the rest of his life with. He literally springs into action, jumping into her lap and knocking her over. He grins brightly. "Hi! I'm Robin, your future husband!"
She stares up at him amused. She's taller than him, her long hair fanning out behind her. She pokes him in the nose with a manicured nail. "My... you're confident."
He chuckles and leans closer, so their nose to nose. "I aim to please!" He suddenly feels himself being tossed up into the air. His eyes widen. She rolls away.
He swings upside-down, getting his barings. A snare. First a pit, now a snare? Did she? She stands in front of him. He's at perfect eye level with her. She hums and walks around him.
He watches her use her magic. Trap magic is different than any kind of magic he's seen. An array of ropes flaring out and stringing around him like a web.
He laughs and activates his own magic. The angle is awkward, but his aim is true. An outline of arrows surrounds her silhouette. She looks at him in awe.
And he can see the hearts in her eyes. His arrow never misses. A bullseye straight through the heart! He knew it would all work out!
He was so glad that the president assigned him such a cool wife! He couldn't wait to tell all his peers! His wife was the prettiest, smartest demon ever. He manages to cut the snare and rush over to her.
She simply smiles at him. And just when he's about to reach her... he crashes it the tree behind her. His head spins as he looks up at her. Her gorgeous leather wings fanned out behind her.
Was this... a game? He loved games! His chaotic grin spreads across his face. She gives a sharp flick of her wings and takes off. His unleashes behind her and soars into the air after her.
She's fast, and she seems to know every trick in the book. It makes him want to catch her even more. Just a little more. Almost there. He reaches his hand out and grasps her ankle.
He let's out a shout of victory too soon. Her tail wraps around his waist and flicks him away. He hadn't realized how close they were to the clans stronghold. That is until he came crashing through the window.
The president stares at him for a moment. Holding his pipe out. "Are you enjoying yourself, my boy?" He asked. Robin sprang up quickly. "She's amazing! I'm gonna try again!"
Just before he can jump through the broken window, she lands in the frame, her tail waving behind her. She tilts her head at him. "What a silly imp you are..."
She crosses her legs and leans against the wall. "Really!" Does that mean she likes him? He can't stop the stars in his eyes. She giggles. "You're quite stupid, aren't you? Mmm... I like that in a demon."
"You do!" He cheers. "Please take good care of me... Robbie-Chan." He feels ready to explode and do a thousand victory laps. He can do that. He'll gladly take care of his new spouse!

"I'm here for your girlfriend"
Our Story Masterlist A/N: Read Love At Wembley first Summary: Harry reads a sign about YN during Wembley Night 3
YN was stood to the side of the stage with Anne, Gemma and Des, along with Brad and Jeff. Since Harry and YN had returned backstage, with YN wearing an engagement ring Anne hadn't stopped hugging her or gushing over her ring. The whole atmosphere was different tonight, Harry was beaming on stage, YN's smile hadn't left her face, Harry's family felt extra proud and even more proud that their son and brother had finally popped the big question.
We've been doin' all this late night talkin' 'Bout anythin' you want until the mornin' Now you're in my life I can't get you off my mind
Can't get you off my mind Can't get you off my mind I won't even try Can't get you off my All this late night talkin'
After Harry had finished performing Late Night Talking, the fans cheered and tried grabbing his attention by waving, to which he would smile, wave, and give them a thumbs up as he walked around the stage. YN watched from her position between Anne and Gemma, wondering how she got so lucky in life with Harry, and now she got to marry and spend the rest of her life with the man she fell in love with at eighteen.
Taking the microphone from the stand, Harry began walking closer to the edge of the large stage. "This is the part of the show where if you have a sign...now's the time to hold them up". The fans began to cheer and hold up different signs, and tried to get Harry's attention to read theirs. Harry looked around until he saw one that caught his eye.
"Hello..what's your name?...Yeh you" Harry spoke directly at a fan that was near the front of the stage, causing the fans around her to jump with excitement. "Emmy?..No..Emily?...Give it up for Emily everyone". The stadium cheered in response, before Harry began to speak again. "Emily your sign says..I'm here for your girlfriend" Harry read the sign, a big smirk covering his face, before he looks over in the direction where YN is standing and he can see her laughing along with his Mum and Gemma.
"I have some news for you Emily...I actually don't have a girlfriend anymore" Harry spoke out to the crowd in front of him, causing the fans in front of him to look wide eyed and Emily's jaw dropped. "I arrived here this afternoon with a girlfriend...but I'm leaving with a fiancée". Harry never predicted the chaos and the cheer that sentence would cause, but here he was standing in front of thousands at Wembley Stadium announcing his engagement.
"Sorry..I can't hear you Emily...How did I propose?" Emily had asked Harry from where she was stood at the front of the barricade. Harry chuckled to himself "Do you all want to know?". The crowd went wild, obviously wanting to know how the couple got engaged. "Okay..okay..I'll tell you". Harry walked to the opposite side of the stage where he could see YN, standing with his family. "I'd actually had the ring a while...but the moment never seemed right..yah know...but Wembley has always been special to me..to us...If I didn't audition that, I would have never met the girl of my dreams" making the crowd cheer and awe. "So before you all joined us tonight...YN and I were sharing this special moment on the stage, where I'm currently standing...and I asked her to marry me...so after this tour, I'm gonna go on a little break and who knows..maybe I'll be a husband when I return" Harry smirked after his lengthy speech, to which he ended with blowing a kiss in YN's direction and sending her a cheeky wink. "I want to dedicate this next song to my future Mrs Styles...everybody this is..Love of My Life...sing it with me"

Tommy Shelby- Expecting
Keeping mine and Tommys relationship a secret wasn't something I wanted to do. I wanted us to be official, but Tommy had other ideas. Instead we would sneak into each others bed at night. All hell broke loose though when I found out I was with child. At first Tommy didn't believe me that it was his, then he told me that he didn't want to settle down and have a family. Offered to find a good doctor to do an abortion. I refused and now I'm known at the Watery Lane Whore. Anger however bubbles inside of me when Tommy announces his relationship with Grace and that they were expecting.
I walk through the door of the Garrison and the first thing I see is her smiling and laughing with Tommy and his family. I roll my eyes and turn around wanting to leave when John calls me over
"YN! Come join us, we're celebrating"
"No thank you John" I glance over to Tommy who's got his arm around Grace "not in the mood"
"Hey wait" John runs over to me "how's the baby?" he asks with genuine concern
"Fine"
"Fuck YN whatever you and Tommy are fighting about now just put it to bed for one fucking nought to celebrate"
"Only if you knew what we are fighting about. Look I'm gonna go. Enjoy" as I leave I hear John say
"If I ever find the fucker who did this to her..." little does he know his own brother is the fucker that he won't do shit to. As I walk the streets to get home I'm called a number of names because I'm pregnant out of marriage, but would anyone dare say the same thing to Grace? No because she's with Tommy. The bitch that tried to get Tommy killed is now having his baby and engaged. It's like he's been brainwashed. Ignoring the comments I get home, deciding to go to bed early.
Over the next few weeks I stay as far away from the Shelby's, that is until I hear a knock on my front door. Groaning I get off the sofa, putting my book down on the coffee table and walk to the front door. I open it up not expecting to see Tommy stood there looking disheveled, but here he is
"Can I come in?" he asks sheepishly which is very unusual for Tommy. I cross my arms and frown looking at him
"I don't know. Why are you here"
"She lied. The whole time Grace was lying to me" still frowning YN doesn't say anything but continues so look at Tommy "YN please let me explain" In YNs mind she goes back at to about what she should do. Let Tommy in and talk, or close the door on him and never speak to him again.
Ending 1- YN and Tommy end up together
Wanting her child to know their father, YN sighs letting Tommy into her house. He walks in and takes off his shoes knowing YN hates mud being brought into the house. Not uttering a word, YN walks into the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea. Tommy walks in behind her also not saying anything
“So. Gonna explain?” YN finally says crossing her arms and turning to look at Tommy
“YN I fucked up”
“Tell me about it” YN mutters
“Grace wasn’t pregnant. Never was. She was helping the copper, get close to me the kill me”
“And why should I believe you?”
“You have no reason to. I get that. But I’m sorry. I really liked.. like you YN and I let that bitch cloud my judgment. When you told me you were pregnant I freaked out. I spoke to Grace about it and she told me shit about you. Said you weren’t actually pregnant with my child, said she saw you with another man. That’s why I didn’t believe you. I was hurt”
“You you don’t think I was? I could have dealt with you not wanting a family, I could have even dealt with you just not wanting to be with me. Yes it would have hurt, but not as much as finding out you were happy to settle with Grace”
“Your right. I’m a fucking dick for that and I’m sorry” this catches YN off by surprise. Tommy never apologises. Yet here he is apologising to her “YN I promise you I will do everything I’m my power to make it up to you” thinking about it YN decides to give him a chance.
Over the next few years YN forgives Tommy, they end up getting married and having more children together.
Ending 2- YN leaves Tommy alone and moves away
“I’m sorry Tommy. I can’t. You hurt me more than I ever thought could be possible. I could have dealt with you not wanting a family, I could have even dealt with you just not wanting to be with me. Yes it would have hurt, but not as much as finding out you were happy to settle down with Grace”
“YN she was never pregnant please let me explain”
“No Tommy. I’m moving away tomorrow. I will tell our child that their father was a good man, but couldn’t look after us. When they’re 18 they can choose whether they come to see you. Until then, this is goodbye” YN closes the door in front of Tommy and heads up to her bedroom for the final time here in Watery Lane.

The other woman
Wanda Maximoff x Williams!Reader
Natasha Romanoff x Williams!Reader
Royal AU
Angst - Cheating - Forced Marriage - If you love Natasha don't read this. (really)
Summary:
W: Young people fall in love with the wrong people sometimes.
N: You can think that you're in love when you're really just engaged.
A/N: Reader's last name is Williams, it's easier to write this way. This has been in my drafts for months lol. I saw a Tik Tok edit of the Corpse Bride and thought of this. Still not sure about how it turned out though.
- Stop being so silly Y/N, you know I will miss you just as much as you're going to miss me - Wanda said smiling, her head resting on your chest while one of your hands rubbed her back up and down.
- I know, I just wish I could stay here with you, I don't care about this stupid trip, I'd rather be here for your birthday, for that giant celebration your father is planning - you said, looking down into her eyes.
- You've been here for each and every one of my birthdays since we were 12, nothing will happen if you miss this one, even if it's "especial", I understand you have to go with your parents - she replied.
You huffed.
- I don't even know why I have to go in the first place, they have always gone by themselves, I don't know why I'm required this time - you explained - And I don't like it either, they're up to something, I can feel it.
She cupped your cheek and pecked your lips.
- You're their only daughter, their only Princess, the only heir for their kingdom, maybe they want to give you more responsibilities from now on... You're gonna be Queen someday, it's time you get prepared for it...
- I've been preparing for it my whole life - you sighed - But you're right, maybe it's time for me to take it seriously.
You stared at her and smiled.
- And maybe I can talk to them in this trip about us - you said, and her eyes sparkled with illusion at your words - I'll tell them I'm marrying you, and we'll plan the proposal for when we get back.
- Are you serious my love? Will you ask my hand in marriage? - she asked happily.
- Of course I will, I want to spend the rest of my life by your side.
She kissed you and you smiled.
- Also, I have to beat that Jarvis Prince - you said - I've heard the rumors, but if I ask you first and you accept me, there will not be any reason for us to not get married.
- Your royal highness, it's time to leave, the King asked for your presence - you heard a voice calling for you.
- On my way - you replied.
- Come back to me my love, and have fun in your trip - Wanda said, kissing you one last time.
- I'll be back in no time, and then, it'll be just us, for eternity my lady.
- For eternity Y/N... - she replied.
------------
4 months later.
The King and the Queen of Williams Kingdom are happy to announce the engagement of their heir, Princess Y/N, with the noble Princess Natasha Romanoff.
The Royal Family announced the happy news during their stay in the Romanoff Kingdom.
This makes young Romanoff the future Queen to the rightful heir to the throne of Williams House. The union of this two families represents one of the most important alliances in the last decades, the two kingdoms will surely benefit from this marriage.
It seems like love has been in the air from some time now, let's remember just a month ago the Maximoff family announced the marriage of their youngest daughter Princess Wanda and the future King Vision Jarvis, on her 18th birthday celebration.
Good luck to these new happy couples and the best of luck for all of them.
--------
- Don't act like you didn't knew about it! You fooled me! - you screamed in exasperation pacing around the room with the newsletter in your hand.
- We didn't knew Maximoff would get the girl married so early, but yes, there's no reason to lie, we knew about the wedding - your father told you.
- It was all planned, wasn't it? This trip, meeting Natasha, Wanda's birthday celebration - you mentioned harshly - You played with us like we were chess pieces, you decided our lives without asking us anything...
- There was nothing to ask, your little teenage romance with Wanda was senseless, she was promised to Jarvis even before they were born... And you, we waited for the right girl to come to your life, for the perfect Queen for you to love... And that is Natasha...
- YOU DON'T GET TO DECIDE THAT! THAT WAS MY CHOICE! - you screamed, you couldn't handle listen to him anymore.
- Well it's not! I am the King and I know what's best for you and for the kingdom! And as long as this crown is perched on my head you will obey each and every one of my orders, especially those orders that relate to the future of my legacy!
You took a step back, not believing what your father was saying.
- You're gonna marry Natasha Romanoff and get the biggest alliance in the history of our family and that's a direct order, not from your father, but from your King!
That was it. Those last words made you understand that, whatever you had left to say would be pointless. The King made a decision, and there was no turning back.
You lowered you head, and nodded.
- Yes, your Majesty.
Holding back the tears from your breaking heart you had the courage to ask for one more thing.
- Tell Natasha I'll meet her in our residence back at home, I need to travel now to talk with Wanda about this decision and finish everything in the best way possible. We're still friends, and for the sake of our friendship with the Maximoff House it would be wise to keep our alliance with them.
Your father took a few seconds to process your request but finally nodded.
- That's okay, you can go now.
Bowing down once more you left the room with tears already falling down your face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stopping your horse right in front of the small cabin placed in the middle of the woods your heart was pounding like crazy. When you made it inside and saw those beautiful green eyes it finally explode in love.
- Y/N! My love - she said the moment you walked in, running into your arms.
You hugged her immediately and both of you melted in a heated passion kiss after all those months separated.
- My lady... My Wanda... How you've been my love? I know life must have been hell for you just as it's been for me - you said, with your arms still around the girl.
- Oh you have no idea... They made me marry Vision the same day of my birthday, without warning. When I told my father it was you the one I loved he told me I was crazy - she started to cry - He said it was ridiculous because you were already engaged to another woman, promised to someone else. It broke my heart because I realized we had fallen in their trap my love, they made the choices for us.
- I know, I realized that too, and when I confront my father about it... - you gulped at the memory - He yelled at me like never before and command me to get marry, not as my father, but as my king.
Wanda whipped away a tear that was rolling down your cheek.
- I didn't know they were gonna announce an engagement until the day before. They gave me no choice - you said, now both of you were sitting in the edge of the bed.
- Is Natasha aware of your your displeasure? - she asked.
You shook your head.
- No, I don't think so, she was very excited when they announced the engagement... She thinks it's all genuine.
- Vision thinks as well, he thinks I want him... Even though I have refused to sleep with him...
You looked at her worried. Heartbroken. Not even you had dare to touch her in a passionate way.
- What are we going to do my love? They took everything from us, even our freedom...
She sighed.
- I don't know... I'm just sure I don't want us to end, we are soul mates Y/N, you are the love of my life... I don't care if you're married to someone else as long as I know I'm the only one for you... Because you're the only one for me...
- Wanda, in my world there's only you and then the rest of the people. I don't care about Vision or Natasha, we love each other and that is all that matters...
- But how are we going to make this work? They can get suspicious...
- We were best friends before this ridiculous circus started, and it doesn't have to change now... We just have to be careful on how we act... - you paused for a few seconds to cup her face - Although I don't think i could ever hide this love I feel for you, it's very intense...
She smiled at your words.
- Me neither, but we'll try our best... - she looked around the little comfy cabin you were in - And also, we will always have this place for us, only you and I know about it, it will keep our secret safe.
You nodded and kissed her. It became heated every second, until she was sitting on your lap and your arms were around her waist, holding her close to your body.
- Wanda... - you said in a whisper between kisses - We need to stop, or either way I will...
- Do it - she said looking straight into your eyes, her green big eyes now full of desire - Take me Y/N, make me yours, i want you to be my first...
You looked at her, the knot on your lower stomach increasing.
- Are you sure?
She didn't respond, with her lower lip trapped between her teeth she grabbed your hand and guided your palm to her breast. You squeezed it, causing her to moan.
- God... - you whispered.
With a quick flip you turned the position, now she was laid on the bed, with you on top.
- Make love to me, darling - she said.
That night, your affair got sealed with the intertwine of your bodies.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- And this is the main room, it's spacious and comfortable for the two of us - you said to Natasha, showing your future bedroom - The right room it's for me, and the left side is yours Princess Natasha, and we have the common space room right in the middle.
Natasha nodded but frowned.
- Why do we have separate beds? I thought we were sharing the same bedroom...
You smiled shaking your head.
- Oh no, we'll have the same room but I would feel more comfortable with my own space - you said walking into your side - But feel free to redecorate the whole room, change whatever you like, even my side, just leave my closet as it is right now.
She followed you confused.
- Where are you going? - she asked - We have my parents' farewell dinner tonight, tomorrow they'll go home.
- I know, I will go play tennis with Princess Wanda and then I'll meet you at the dinner - you said, walking into your closet to change your clothes.
- Princess Wanda? Again? You went out with her last week.
- Yes, you know she's my best friend, we both play tennis every week, it's our favorite sport - you said.
Natasha nodded. She didn't understand the reason behind your distance, at first she thought it was because you didn't know her before your visit at her kingdom, but now, after spending some weeks with you and failed tries on bonding with you she was very confused.
- I'll see you later - you said, walking out from your closet and giving her a kiss on the cheek.
- Okay - she answered.
She spent the rest of the evening choosing the colors, the carpets and selecting fabrics for your new room. She was loving the result, but wishing you were there to help her out.
- Do you think Princess Y/N will like this color for her bed? - she asked her maid, showing her the color tone she had choose.
- Oh it's beautiful, she will love it - the woman answered.
Natasha smiled, really hoping you will like it.
- You've known the princess since she was a kid, right? - Romanoff asked the woman again.
- Yes, I've been working for the Royal Family since 15 years ago...
Natasha kept silent for some second before asking again.
- Do you know how close is Princess Y/N with Princess Wanda Maximoff? I know they're best friends but I'm just curious about their friendship...
- Oh they are very very close, they grew up together and used to make everything side by side... They had the same private tutors, a lot of sleepovers, they both love tennis...
Natasha nodded, not wanting to listen more, but the woman kept talking.
- Princess Y/N used to write a lot of letters for Princess Wanda, every week, and Princess Wanda wrote for her too, the letters should be somewhere in here, she keeps them very well preserved... They're very special for each other - the woman smiled at the memory.
Nat cleared her throat and left the fabrics on the bed.
- It's time for me to get ready for dinner, please take all this out of the room and bring the dress.
- Yes your royal highness - the woman said, following the instructions.
Once alone, Natasha made some deep thinking. She didn't want to create false scenarios in her head, but since she met you, you had done nothing but talk about Wanda and spend time with her.
But she didn't had the time to over think because you stepped in the room in that moment. The happiness in your face could be notice from a thousand miles away.
- Natasha? I thought you would be on your way to dinner already... - you said.
- Oh I lost track of time with the decorations and everything, my dress will be here in any minute - she answered, and you nodded - Also, I think our parents will expect to see us coming in together...
You sighed and walked into your side of the room.
- Yes, I think you're right, I'm gonna take a bath and get ready - you said.
Before you could leave she asked.
- How was tennis with Princess Wanda? I can see you're really happy.
You froze for a second but then raised your head with a small smile.
- Yes, it was really funny... It's always funny.
You started walked again but she stopped your tracks once more, making you tense immediately with her next words.
- Maybe you can teach me, I'll go with you next time.
You didn't say anything, just slightly nodded your head and walked out.
Natasha was afraid that maybe she was trying to force herself into your daily activities, she didn't want bother you in any way, or make you upset with her.
But when you meet her again in the car that night, suddenly your behavior towards her changed dramatically.
You treated her kind and lovely the whole night. For the first time she felt like she was your fiancé and not just some random stranger that came into your life.
But the fairytale broke down the moment you stepped into your house. You only said goodnight to her and leave to go to your bed.
She wondered what she could've possibly done to make you upset again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the next weeks you kept your distance for her like before, only talking to her when it was necessary. And she was starting to get pissed.
- I just want to know what can I do to make you feel closer to me... I've been trying for weeks to connect with you but nothing ever change. Just tell me what's wrong, so we can fix it.
You've been arguing for the last twenty minutes, you told her you'd go to play tennis and she started to yell at you.
- There's nothing to fix, because nothing is wrong Natasha... I just have a hard time to open myself with new people...
- But I'm not new people, I'm your fiancé, we're gonna get married Y/N, let's start acting like a couple for once.
You sighed. Tired.
- What do you want me to do? I just don't feel comfortable yet...
- Oh but you're not even trying, everyday you find something to get yourself busy with, and your spare time goes all in tennis and Princess Wanda... When will you have time for me?
You heart stopped. How dare she to even pronounce Wanda's name.
- Wanda has nothing to do with this - you said, almost in a whisper.
- I know, I'm not blaming her for anything, I'm blaming you...
You were about to say something when the butler knocked the door.
- Excuse me ma'am, Princess Wanda Maximoff is here for the tennis practice, she's waiting for you in the main hall.
You fixed your messy clothes and answered.
- Thanks, tell her I'll be with her in a minute.
- Yes your royal highness.
The butler left, leaving you and Natasha alone again.
- I need to go - you said, without looking at her.
- I know - she contained the tears - Just leave, I also need to go, I'm having tea with your mother later.
You nodded and walked out, with her following you some steps behind.
When you made it to the first floor your bad mood changed completely at the sight of your lover.
- Wanda, it's so nice to see you! Ready for tennis? - you asked, kissing her right hand and cheeks.
- Yes, let's go! - she replied.
When two guards followed you she quickly stopped them.
- Oh we're taking the horses, no need for security, just two best friends riding and playing... The Princess and I will be fine.
- Yes, don't worry, I'll be back in a few hours - you completed.
- Of course ma'am - your guards nodded.
Natasha saw the whole interaction, her eyes burning in jealousy. She knew Wanda was your best friend, but her instincts were screaming her something was off. She decided to ask your mother that afternoon.
--------------------------
- Oh dear lord! - Wanda screamed in pure bliss, three of your fingers buried deep inside her intimacy, you leaving small kisses all along her jaw and neck.
- Go on my lady, let me see you reach euphoria once more...
- Yeah... - she panted - Take me to heaven again Y/N, just keep doing that...
Your moans were hidden by the walls of the small cabin.
- Y/N... I'm gonna...
You felt her orgasm crash on your fingers, her wetness dripping down your hands and rolling down her thighs.
- Wanda... - you panted, taking the three fingers to your mouth - Oh God... - you moaned - You're so magical...
She smiled at you, wasting no time and kissing you as deep as she could, tasting herself in your mouth.
A few moments later you were both tangled in each other's arms, resting after your love making evening.
- Oh how I wish I could wake up every day inside your arms - she said with her head resting on your chest.
- I know, I would make love to you every morning and every night... I would take care of your sleep, watch you fall asleep into my arms, giving a goodnight kiss in the forehead...
A tear rolled down her face.
- We would be happy...
You nodded.
- Yes... So happy.
She stared at you for some seconds before speaking again.
- Are you happy? - she asked.
- What do you mean? You know I'm not - you answered, confused.
- I know, but you have a wife, Princess Natasha is beautiful... Have you bonded with her already?
You denied, shaking your head.
- Not really, I spend all my time doing my duties and my spare time I spend it with you...
She smiled sheepishly.
- Has she notice your absence?
You sighed.
- Yeah, just this morning before you came we were arguing about it... She wants me to spend more time with her...
- Same with Vision - she said - He wants me to go with him in this trip he's having next month... I don't think I'll can refuse
You blink confused.
- Does that mean I will not see you? For how long?
Your heart shredded.
- Three weeks...
- Oh...
She immediately sensed your mood change.
- But I will came back to you... Like always.
- I know... I trust you, I don't trust Vision though...
- Don't worry, no matter what happens I will always be yours.
- I'll always be yours too.
- Take this time to be with Natasha, calm her down and win her trust, it's your wife after all.
You sighed and nodded.
- I'll do whatever you ask me to... - you said kissing her hand.
She fell silent for a few moments. You turned to look at her and saw in her expression what was happening. She was thinking… processing something.
- What's wrong, my love? - you asked - What's going on in that beautiful mind of yours?
She looked into your eyes, gazing at you for a moment before speaking.
- I want you to marry Natasha during my absence… I need you to seal your commitment to her while I'm not here. If I'm not present, I won't have to attend to the wedding, and I won't have to endure the pain of seeing you marry someone else… If you don't do it within those weeks, I'll be forced to attend your wedding, and I… I don't think I can bear it, Y/N… I won't be able to.
She was right. Due to your trip to the Romanoff realm, you didn't have to be present at Wanda's sudden wedding. You didn't have to go through the pain of seeing her standing at the altar with someone else. It wouldn't be fair to her to see you with Natasha.
You nodded and kissed her forehead. Both of you were crying, and you held her hand.
- I promise I will - you said - For you, Wanda. I just want you to know that even if it's Natasha to whom I vow love and eternal devotion at the altar, my words and my heart will always belong to you and only you.
That evening, you returned home with a heavy heart. But to your misfortune, the tragedies wouldn't stop that day. As soon as you passed through the grand and elegant door adorning your entrance, you saw your father's guards waiting. That only meant he was visiting, and that couldn't be good.
- Your Royal Highness - a man bowed before you - Your Majesty, King Williams is in the main study waiting for you.
You surveyed your surroundings before responding. Everything was in overwhelming silence. You looked for your butler and inquired - Is Princess Natasha at home?
- No, Your Highness, Princess Natasha is still visiting the royal palace with the queen, your mother," he responded.
You took a deep breath - I see - you cleared your throat - I will speak with my father right away. If the princess returns home, please notify me immediately. It is of the utmost importance that I speak with her.
You turned and made your way to the study. With every step you took, you could feel your heart beating stronger. You knew what was coming. As soon as you crossed that door, your father would reproach you for not paying enough attention to Natasha. You were nervous about the reprimand, but it was somewhat reassuring to know that this time you had an answer to his accusations.
- Your Majesty - you spoke, but he didn't look at you - To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit, Father? - You walked over and took a seat across from him. It was only then that you noticed his cold gaze.
- I'm afraid my visit won't bring you any pleasure, Y/N - he said - Your wife paid a visit today to your mother; they had tea together.
- I'm aware of that, Natasha mentioned it this morning - you said, trying to sound confident.
- My question here is, where were you? - he asked.
- I played tennis with Princess Wanda most of the afternoon, and we went riding for a while. I lost track of time between the game and our conversation... - you explained but your father interrupted you.
- Natasha told us where you were… She also mentioned some more interesting things about those little escapades of yours with Princess Wanda… I didn't like what I heard at all, Y/N - he said.
- Father, Wanda and I…- you began, but he interrupted.
- Wanda and you are no more, it ended the moment she got married and you became engaged - he shouted - Don't you understand? Natasha suspects you and Wanda, she has doubts about her marriage, this is very serious, Y/N. It could trigger political problems and destabilize our marriage agreements with her kingdom. As the heir to this realm, you have a responsibility to your people and to me. I cannot allow your actions to jeopardize our political stability. It's important that you maintain a strong relationship with Natasha and avoid any suspicion about your relationship with Wanda.
- There is nothing between Wanda and me, Father… we had something in the past, as you well know, but now she is married. It hasn't been easy for me, but I believe it's time to stabilize the situation. Wanda will be going on a trip with Prince Jarvis, and today we discussed my wedding. She encouraged me to get married as soon as possible to reassure Natasha about our marriage… I want to have the wedding in two weeks - you explained.
- Is that so… - he looked at you, analyzing - Well, so be it. Let's not delay any further. As soon as I return to the palace, I will inform your mother about your decision, and we will proceed with the necessary preparations. There's no turning back from this.
- You may think you've appeased me with your sudden decision to marry, but you can't deceive me, Y/N. The matters you have with Wanda… put an end to them. I am giving you the opportunity to do it on your terms. Remember that you are the heir; you must find a way to balance your personal feelings with your responsibilities as the future queen. I don't want to take drastic measures, but if you can't control this situation, I will have to intervene… and then I assure you, you will never see Wanda again - he warned.
Your father left your home, and the next morning, the entire kingdom was aware of your wedding. Natasha was in total ecstasy. As soon as you informed her of the date, she kissed you fervently and headed to the palace to begin preparations for your wedding.
No matter how hard you tried, you couldn't muster a spark of excitement. You seemed like a walking corpse. But your father's threats echoed in your mind, and you forced yourself to be the perfect fiancée for Natasha. In front of people, you looked like the ideal couple, planning the dream wedding together. But deep inside, you were dying to leave it all behind and run into Wanda's arms.
After two weeks that felt like an eternity, the day finally arrived. You were just hours away from getting married. Natasha was getting ready at the palace with her mother, while you prepared in the privacy of your home.
In that intimate moment, you allowed yourself to write a letter to Wanda, letting your heart speak and conveying all your love and devotion for her. When you finished, you placed it in the pocket of your shirt, right over your heart, and prepared to leave. You would find a way to deliver it to her later.
The moment had come. The entire kingdom was waiting. Natasha, her parents, and your parents were all there. It seemed like the most meticulously planned event of the year, with nothing missing. But to you, everything was missing because even though you were about to get married, the love of your life was not there.
The ceremony had passed quickly. You felt like your soul had left your body, but it was your turn to speak.
- Dear Natasha...
Wanda, thousands of kilometers away, knew what was happening. Her heart ached at the thought of you becoming someone else's wife today. She only found peace in remembering your words, knowing that any promise you made to Natasha today would truly be for her.
- Today, before all the witnesses from our respective kingdoms, I make this sacred commitment. I promise to be loyal and faithful in body and spirit, and always honor the alliance we have forged, an alliance that in my heart is deeper than others may understand. On sunny days and in dark nights, I will stand by your side, fulfilling the duties entrusted to us. I promise to be your unwavering support, your confidante, and your closest friend, even when our differences challenge us. Though our paths may seem divergent, in my heart, you will always be present. May our souls find solace in this commitment, and may our union, despite the hardships, shine as a beacon of hope in this realm. May the love I have for you, though I may not openly name it, guide my actions and thoughts as we fulfill our destiny. May our marriage, though not the one we would have chosen, be a source of strength and wisdom for us both. So I promise, with all the sincerity and respect you deserve.
Natasha smiled. You both kissed. Wanda cried. You cried. You touched your chest, where Wanda's letter resided, and smiled despite the tears.
When the wedding was over and you and Natasha were back home, you couldn't make love to her. You touched her, yes. She felt loved, yes. But you didn't feel anything. Your body belonged to Wanda. You didn't let Natasha touch you. As soon as it was over, you headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
Natasha, savoring the last moments of innocence, believing that you were completely hers, took your shirt in her hands to smell your perfume once more. She loved your scent. But as she brought the garment to her nose, she felt the stiffness of paper in her hands. Curiously, she took the letter from the pocket, and in a matter of seconds, everything fell apart.
There, in her hands, was the proof of your eternal love for Wanda. A letter, written a couple of hours ago, before joining your life with hers, where you professed your eternal devotion to another woman.
My Wanda:
As I write these words, my heart is filled with a love that cannot be contained or constrained by the circumstances surrounding us. In the dark hours leading up to my forced marriage, I want you to know that my love and devotion belong to you, and you alone.
Although the world has forced us down different paths, and we are destined to marry others, I want you to know that my heart will always be yours. Our love is a fire that burns deep within me, a fire that no arranged marriage can extinguish.
Every moment we share, every stolen glance, every whispered word in secret, is a treasure in my memory that I hold dear with all my being. You are the light that brightens my life, the reason I smile amidst the darkness of our situation.
Though words cannot fully express the magnitude of what I feel for you, I want you to know that I am willing to face whatever is necessary to protect our love, even if it means sacrificing some of my own happiness. I am bound by word and paper, but my body, mind, soul, and heart will always belong to you.
No matter what the future holds for us, rest assured that you will always be my love, my confidante, and my deepest longing. Our love is a secret that only we share, a bond that no one can break.
When I stand at the altar, reciting my vows to someone I did not choose, rest assured that my heart will beat for you and only you, as I promised. I will keep our love in a special and safe place in my heart, dreaming of the future that was stolen from us, where we are together without restrictions.
With all my love and devotion, always yours.
Y/N.
There, Natasha knew it. There was no turning back. She had married someone who didn't love her. You weren't hers, and you never would be.
As soon as you emerged from the bathroom, you saw Natasha holding the letter in her hands, tears streaming down her cheeks. She knew.
- Natasha...
- You lied to me.
- No, I didn't lie to you… My father forced me… they separated us, Natasha.
- All this time, I've been a fool… and you! - she pointed at you, shouting, crying inconsolably - How could you deceive me like this?
- You don't understand, you never will. It was never my intention to hurt you, Natasha…
- You've betrayed me, Y/N… you married me while all this time you were thinking about your mistress - Natasha cried.
At that moment, you lost your temper. You would never let anyone speak of Wanda in such a way.
- Don't speak of her like that. Wanda is not to blame. Don't ever say her name again… never - you asserted.
She laughed bitterly, wiping the tears from her face - It is what it is, Y/N, nothing more than your mistress…
It was then that you shouted - Don't you understand? You are the other woman in all of this… she and I were happy, she's the love of my life. Until they forced us apart. Titles don't matter, Natasha. She will always be my priority. YOU ARE THE OTHER WOMAN.
- NO! You are married to me! She is the other woman - Natasha shouted back.
You ran your hand through your hair in desperation. You sat down on the bed with your hands on your face. Natasha was crying, standing.
- I don't love you, Natasha. My father forced me to marry you. The day I saw Wanda for the last time, she asked me to have the wedding as soon as possible. I only moved forward with the plans because she requested it. You must understand that there is no one else for me but her.
Natasha looked at you, heartbroken.
- My kingdom needs yours for its resources; our union is the largest and most important due to the size of your realm. On the other hand, you need my kingdom for our reserves, as long as you are married to me, there will be stability. This marriage benefits us all, and I need us to cooperate to provide the peace our people deserve.
You explained, and she knew it was true.
- The kingdom of Wanda is small; it didn't serve much purpose to unite us. Besides, her parents had promised her hand to Prince Jarvis since she was born. We had everything against us, Natasha. We still have everything against us - you said - I'm sorry that I can't be the partner you desire, but unfortunately, the story of my life was written long before I met you. I belong to Wanda, and Wanda belongs to me. You need me, and I need you. The union is done, but you must know that I can't love you as you desire, I never will.
By this point, Natasha was just sobbing. You got up from the bed and walked to your side of the room.
- We have breakfast with our families tomorrow. We must be at the palace at nine o'clock.
You left the room, and your body felt more relaxed. You wouldn't have to pretend anymore.
Time passed, and Wanda returned from her trip. As soon as she set foot on land, she ran to find you at the cabin. She tearfully told you that Jarvis had been with her. He wanted an heir. With desperation and desire, you claimed her body for hours.
Months later, when her son was born, Natasha and you visited the couple in their palace. Wanda smiled as she showed you the little one. He was so much like Wanda that you cried with emotion. In that small moment when you held little Tommy, and Wanda sang to him beside you, you allowed yourself to dream of what could have been. The future and happiness that were denied to you. For a brief moment, you pretended that this was your little family. And you cried. You cried for everything that was taken from you.
Natasha, who watched everything from afar, finally understood. Wanda and you loved each other and would love each other forever. She could never compete with her.
She was just another piece in the chessboard that life played. She couldn't do anything else but resign herself. In the end, no one was happy. Not her. Not you. Not Wanda. Everyone was miserable because of someone else's desires. But that's how life was, and like the others, she had to accept it.
glad you chased me
for @corrodedcoffinfest prompt 'fame & fortune'
rated t | 991 words | cw: breakup | tags: modern era, famous corroded coffin, angst with a happy ending, gareth gets his man
💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
Sam was right for what he said, but it still hurt.
Gareth stares out the window of the hotel room he'd booked for them for his one night in Boston, wondering if there's any way he could turn back time. He hasn't even cried yet. He's not sure he can.
The night started great: ordering room service even though they could've gone downstairs to get food, drinking a six pack of beer that Sam brought from his apartment two hours away. They had a movie playing on the tv, but Gareth couldn't tell you what it was if you paid him. He was too caught up in being in Sam's bubble for the first time in nearly three months.
Sam hated taking extended periods of time off during the school year, especially at the beginning. His students were trying to get to know him, and he was trying to get to know them, and he didn't want to cause disruption to their schedules. Gareth understood, of course.
It didn't make it easier.
Gareth couldn't just come visit whenever he wanted, either. The tour had still been going well into September, and instead of being able to take a break when it ended, they immediately had a press tour to announce their next album, followed by Frankie's bachelor party and Jeff's engagement celebration weekend.
He knew it was hard on Sam. He knew Sam was grinning and bearing it. He knew that Sam hadn't signed up for this much when they got together over a year ago.
But he didn't expect Sam to break up with him before room service even got delivered.
Gareth looked over at the cart full of appetizers, desserts, and spaghetti. He couldn't possibly stomach it now.
"I'm not asking to be the priority in your life, Gare, just one of them. You didn't even call me last week. I feel like I'm out of sight, out of mind.
The words Sam used echoed in his head as he retreated to the bed.
The bed they should be sharing tonight.
****
He doesn't sleep. At first, it was because he was worried about Sam making it back to his apartment okay when he'd left in such a hurry, crying and shaking. Then, it was because he'd finally started crying himself, his mind no longer able to ignore what happened.
He watched the sun rise through the window with blurred vision and a headache.
Checkout is 11, but he's not sure he's gonna be ready.
****
Eddie calls him four times before he finally answers.
"Dude, why weren't you answering?"
"Sorry." Gareth knows his voice is fucked when Eddie immediately starts asking if he's alright, if he's sick, if Sam is taking care of him. "Sam isn't here."
Finally, Eddie's silent.
But it's not what Gareth wants. He needs Eddie's chaos and his words that don't always make sense and his wit. He needs the distraction.
"Where is he?" Eddie finally asks.
"His place I think."
"...Gare. What's going on?"
So Gareth does his best to explain. He tells him that Sam admitted he felt like Gareth never picked him, and that it started an argument that they couldn't recover from, and then Sam broke him up with him and left.
Eddie takes it in, lets it sit.
"Is this fame worth losing him?" He finally asks.
Gareth's first thought is yes. Of course his band, his friends, are worth losing a boyfriend.
But the moment he thinks the word boyfriend, he realizes the answer is no.
Because Sam isn't just a boyfriend. Wasn't.
Sam is the love of Gareth's life. Nothing else he ever does will compare to how he feels when he's with him. No amount of fans screaming his name while he plays on stage, or money sitting in his bank account, or famous people he meets will ever touch what Sam is to him.
The fame and fortune means shit if he can't share it with Sam.
"I'll take the silence as a no." Eddie sighs. "You know, Steve told me we should probably take a break. I didn't want to yet, but then Jeff said he wanted to be able to get married next summer and go on an extended honeymoon. Can't do that if we're on tour."
Gareth's breath catches as he listens to Eddie.
"This album doesn't have to tour, ya know. We could just take a year off after it's released. Plan something for later."
"We could?" Gareth feels tears gathering in his eyes again. "Wouldn't they be mad?"
"Probably. But you know I live to piss off upper management. And sometimes Steve. He's cute when his face gets all red."
Gareth lets out a wet laugh. "So if I tell Sam we're taking a break, no one's gonna be mad at me?"
"Nope." Eddie pops the 'p' and laughs. "Couldn't be mad at you anyway, man. You deserve to be happy just like the rest of us. Go get your guy."
Gareth doesn't even bother saying goodbye.
He barely even remembers to grab his backpack before he's getting an extremely expensive Uber and riding to Sam's apartment.
****
Gareth thinks back to the day he showed up at Sam's door, eyes red and swollen from crying, scared that he wouldn't be able to get him back.
But Sam was an angel, and patient, just like he always was. He listened as Gareth blubbered through an explanation of a half-assed plan that wasn't approved yet by their team. He held Gareth's hand when he told him he'd give up everything to keep him.
And when Gareth said he had every intention of marrying him, he took it as a proposal, even without a ring, even with the state they were in.
Gareth smiles at his now-husband as they look around the room of everyone they love.
"I'm glad you chased me," Sam whispered to him.
"I'm glad you let me."
Daddy Cupid: The Fake Boyfriend
Modern!Smoker X Reader
-When your father grows weary of your single life, he takes it upon himself to play matchmaker. With him knowing the entire city, he embarks on a mission to find you the perfect match.
Chapter 1: Please please pleaseeeeee
"So you ruined your date?"
"He didn't show up! This isn't fair! It's not my fault he stood me up. I'm not going on another date," you retorted with a glare.
Your dad, instead of showing his usual worry, wore a sly smirk. "Don't worry, you won't have to go on any more dates."
You frowned, "Really? That fast?"
He smiled mischievously, "I mean you're going to get engaged. You don't have to go through those dates anymore, right?"
You blinked, taken aback, "Wait what who huh????"
"Engaged. You're going to get engaged to someone I chose for you. I was approached by a friend, Linlin. She said she wanted to marry off her son."
Your dad's words left you stunned, and your mind raced with a million questions about what he had in mind.
You shook your head vehemently, still processing the information. "I'm not getting engaged to a complete stranger. This is ridiculous."
Your dad remained unfazed, "Well, you will be if you stay single. Linlin got a lot of proposal offers, and I've already submitted your name. She's going through the list, and you'll have to respond in a week or two."
Your frustration was apparent as you retorted, "I'm not even a prime candidate? No, thank you, I'm not going to get engaged like this."
With a knowing look, your father suggested, "Maybe if you go on some dates, you'll find somebody before Big Mom announces you as her next daughter-in-law."
You could hardly contain your anger, "You are a despicable old man."
He chuckled, "Well, it better be a great man then!"
You felt utterly defeated after your conversation with your father, and the thought of returning home was too daunting. You decided to contact Buggy, asking him to meet you at Smoker's place instead.
Fortunately, Buggy was nearby and arrived at Smoker's apartment before you did. You both let yourselves in, even though Smoker was not at home at the moment. The familiar surroundings of his place offered some solace. You immediately began sharing the events of earlier to him.
Buggy was clearly shocked by your revelation. "No fucking way," he gasped in response.
You respond, exclaiming, "Yes fucking way. I'm going to... AHHHHHHH! WHAT AM I GONNA DO, BUG?! I DON'T WANNA GET ENGAGED! ESPECIALLY NOT TO A CHARLOTTE, HOLY SHIT!"
You paced around Smoker's living room, anxiety coursing through you.
Buggy brainstormed possible solutions. "Is there like a way to change this? Maybe tell Big Mom you don't wanna get married?"
"We both know Linlin doesn't care about us. And Dad said if I meet someone, he'll cancel the engagement..."
"So, you have to date someone?"
"Yeah, in a week! I'm not gonna find a guy I can date in a week, Bug, I'm over! I'm gonna be a wife! I'm gonna be Charlotte Y/N!!" You could feel the panic in your voice as the reality of your situation sunk in.
Buggy then smirks and interrupts you, saying, "You don't have to date date someone."
You were taken aback. "What? Yes, I do, Dad would—"
"No, listen to me," Buggy said, trying to explain his plan. "You can fake date."
"Fake date? Buggy, if you're gonna try fooling my dad—"
"DO YOU WANT HELP OR NOT?????"
"FINE WHAT IS IT"
"OKAY! So you can fake date. Find someone who'll pretend to be your boyfriend."
"My dad isn't dumb. He's going to know... especially if it only took me a week to find a boyfriend. Crocodile and I took 5 months before we put labels," you grumble.
"What about me? I'll pretend. We've known each other for a while, Rayleigh would let it slide."
"No, you suck at acting. You can't tell a lie for shit, Buggy. You'll end up pissing yourself in front of my dad," you grumble.
"What about Shanks?"
"He's a whore. He wouldn't be allowed to date anyone for a while, I can't do that to him."
Buggy leaned back in his chair, looking thoughtful. "Alright. So, no to me and Shanks, but we need to find someone who can convince your dad without raising suspicion. A good actor."
You both pondered for a moment. Your mind raced through the list of potential candidates.
As Smoker entered the room, your very serious discussion came to an abrupt halt. You and Buggy exchanged knowing smirks, and he gave a subtle nod.
"What the hell are you both doing here?"
You sauntered over to Smoker with a teasing smile and casually rested your arm on his shoulder, batting your eyelashes at him.
"Smokey, would you like to be my boyfriend?"
His response was short and simple. "No."
Undeterred by Smoker's initial refusal, you continued with your playful insistence, pouting and using your best puppy-dog eyes.
"Smookeyyyy, pleeeease! Pretty please with a cherry on top!"
You clung to his arm, swaying gently and wearing a playful smile.
"Why would I date you?" Smoker questioned.
"Because you love me, and I'm pretty?" You responded with a hint of mischief in your voice, flashing him your softest smile.
He grumbled, pushing you away as he crashed on the couch next to Buggy.
"Tell me what's happening," he sighed.
You and Buggy began retelling the events, explaining the impending arranged marriage and the need for a fake boyfriend to ward it off. Smoker listened, his usual gruff expression softening as he comprehended the situation.
"You're worried about Shanks' love life but not mine?"
"Well, you don't have one. So, pretty pleaseeee, just a few months." You grinned.
"Wait, how long is a few months?"
"About 5 to 6 months!"
"Isn't that like half a year?" Buggy blinked. "Why do you need it that long?"
"We can shorten it if needed, but that's the maximum duration we'll pretend to date. It depends on how long it takes to deceive my dad..."
Smoker raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "And what's in it for me?"
You grinned mischievously. "I'll owe you one, Smokey. Whatever you want, within reason, once this is all over."
Buggy chimed in. "And I'll make sure you don't have to pay for any alcohol during the entire time you're 'dating' my dear friend here."
Smoker sighed, rubbing his temples. "You're both a pain in the ass. Fine, but the moment this is over, I don't want to hear a word about this ever again."
You cheered and hugged Smoker, who grunted in response. It seemed like your plan was coming together, though you couldn't help but wonder how well it would work out.
"I'll be in your care, darling~" You cooed.
"I'm already about to break up with you." He hissed.
mick and y/n’s family pestering them about when they’re gonna get married, like her grandma asking “are you guys already planning the wedding?” lol
Note: I just know my grandma would be like this (in the impossible event I actually date someone)
You had known eachother since you were kids, so Mick had spent a few afternoons of his childhood with you in your grandmother's house whenever your parents or his parents were busy and you still wanted to hang out.
"Forgot to tell you, my grandma is joining us for dinner today", you smiled as you handed Mick the plates so he could set them at the table, "Oh, I'm glad she's feeling better", your boyfriend said, "she really wasn't her normal self when we visited her last week", you nodded, remembering the last visit you two had payed her where she felt a little bit off.
You were putting the food in the serving trays when you felt your boyfriend's arms circle your waist, "Careful, liebling, I don't want you to burn yourself", he whispered against your ear when he felt you jump, "not my fault, you were the one to come in here and sneak up on me", you giggled, finishing the task in hand and bringing it to the table, all whole your boyfriend still remained latched to you, "care to dance with me?", he offered as soon as he was able to take both your hands in his, "without music?", you chuckled, "we'll make it up as we go", he giggled as he spun you around, bringing you closer to his chest as he swayed you both, too busy with eachother to hear your parents' car pull up and your grandmother getting inside the house, "Y/N, dear, I knocked but you didn't answer, and when I noticed it wasn't locked I g- how cute are you two!", your grandmother gushed while you blushed, separating your body from Mick's and greeting her, "I'm so happy to see your back to feeling better!", you said.
Mick had just gotten everything out of the table to make room for the dessert you had asked your mother to make, your father serving everyone that asked for a small plate, "you really sure you don't want some, Mick?", he asked your boyfriend, "my trainer would not be happy if I had some, but thank you. I'm sure it's lovely and delicious as usual", he offered softly while still looking at your plate, "what about a little spoonful? You can take from my plate if you want", you offered your boyfriend, grabbing your spoon to give him some while everyone else seemed to be busy talking.
"So, when are you getting married? I'm not getting any younger and I'd like to be able to dance at my granddaughter's wedding", your grandmother said like it was the most normal thing, "where did that come from?", you wondered, "we all know you're getting married, that's just the way it is. I was just wondering when that would be, you know, what are your plans and all", she said as she took a bite from the sweet treat, "we don't know yet, but you'll be one of the first people to know", Mick smiled dashingly.
.
Whenever your little cousins had a birthday party and Mick had time to join you, all of your family members made sure to gush about him, "He's such a gentleman, Y/N, I'm so happy for you", one of your aunties said, "look at how he is with the kids, if you don't marry him, I will!", your grandmother offered, making you giggle loudly until you were interrupted by your little cousin, "Y/N, come here!", she called for you, pulling the hem of your dress, "Do you want me to play with you?", you asked, "we are making a wedding for you and Mick!", she announced happily, your mother getting up too, "I'm in the front row!", she shrieked, "what? I'm not engaged yet, I don't even have a ring", you tried to reason with the 5 year old.
Shaking her head, you cousin rolled her yes playfully, "don't be silly, Y/N. Do you think we don't have one? We taught Mick how to make one with the napkin", she stated, "he was not very good at first, but if we're lucky, it will last for the whole ceremony!".
(Thank you for submitting an ask 🤍)
Vent art.
At least that's the truest thing my ex ever said lmao.
This is.. long. And not all of it. But just some of the important things I feel like sharing.
Being in love really does just blind you from all the red flags your partner displays. My friends hated him. They also witnessed the abuse and I was just like "oh nah this is normal he's always like this! He means well, he's such a sweetie! He loves me!" Meanwhile I'm getting emotionally abused and neglected being absolutely blinded.. I said yes to marrying this dude. I'm embarrassed. And it's gonna take me so long to recover from the mental damage. "I talk to everyone the same way I talk to you!" and I have people saying "uh, no?"
"I don't want to be perceived as a bad person!" and then treats me like shit behind closed doors.
Every single time I cleaned he shat on me about it "You call this clean, Marie? This is disgusting. If you're gonna clean dishes, just don't. Stick to the easy things." He sent me voice clips to intimidate me. I told him I wanted a ukulele and he sent me like 10 minutes of voice clips saying "no you waste your money Marie you don't use the shit you ever buy for yourself!" and then at the same time "It's your money you can do as you please I don't care what you buy but I know you're not gonna use it." I'll never be able to forget the cruel words and way he treated me. I can probably heal from it, and I could wish him dead. I would love to see him get the help he needs but that's a damn joke. "My mom was right, we're not financially compatible. She always said "wine taste but beer money."" The end of our relationship being a "trial run, welcome to a real relationship, Marie. This is what it's like." and then taking a dig at.. my upbringing? My family?? How I was raised?? "I never once gaslit you Marie. I never once made you feel like you were crazy."
"It's not you, it's me." and then blaming me for "bad timing" anytime he wanted to do anything with me when I was in a depressive episode from something HE would always cause. He never wanted to leave the house. He promised me all these things we'd do when I'd move all the way from Florida to bumfuck Illinois. I don't hate where I live. I hate that I got lied to that things would be different. "You can heal in the environment you got sick in" and then just made me sicker. The engagement ring he got me didn't fit. It was his idea to get me a new one. Who paid for it? My credit card. It took him 2 years to pay me back the $375 that was spent on it. 2 YEARS. He made me feel so undesirable. "Marie it really hurts ME when you say you're unattractive, cause you are. You're fucking gorgeous!" and then proceeds to never touch me. Lol. A whole year without intimacy. Only recently had it dawned on me just how manipulative he was. "I was gonna ask for sexy times but you're upset so maybe another time." It happened EVERY time I was down in the dumps. He said "I dunno if it's you or me who has bad timing." Go to hell. There's another thing I could say but that's his problem that I won't just share to the public. But even then, he never did anything he said he'd do to resolve that. More lies, anything to keep me with him. "You need to learn how to cope." he said to me when we haven't had alone time in months and I was upset about it.
There was a segment in the H3 Podcast where they announced looking for artists for Teddy Fresh. He told me about it and said I should apply. I asked later about my resume and he said "Oh.. I didn't think you'd actually do it. I dunno." Very supportive partner he was!
"When you're in Illinois we're gonna get you health insurance, we're gonna get you a car and your license" and then "I suck as a teacher, my dad's gonna teach you." and he handled all my medical stuff. When I transferred to Circle K up here I had to quit, cause management was super toxic. We worked at the same store and the manager would tell him how she was going to fire me cause I was an awful employee. So I sought out a new job.. and during that.. "You're gonna get your GED Marie!" and he brings home a math book to go over fractions with me. "I don't want to get my GED." "Well how are you going to get a better job??" and when I ended things, YES I ENDED THINGS IT WAS NOT MUTUAL. "Maybe I didn't push you (for the GED) hard enough or maybe I pushed you too hard.." is what he had to say.
I owned a lot of clothes. He bitched at me when I first moved here and said "You were supposed to DOWNSIZE Marie! I just had surgery, my grandpa has a bad hip and this is too much shit!" and so I got rid of my stuff. "I never wanted you to get rid of your stuff, I know you love clothes and stuff" or whatever he said to me post breakup. Are you kidding me?! "I have so much anxiety Marie! I'm a minimalist! This is too much!"
We never went out and kept the love alive. We'd go out to dinner and I'd mostly pay and I guess to him that was emasculating? "I hate that you always have to pay. How do you think that makes me feel as a partner that can't pay for dinner for his wife??" "It's okay I don't mind paying." "I know you don't." We went out I could probably count on my fingers the times.. Cause "it hurts to drive long distances Marie. I never feel good. I don't have the spoons, Marie. My legs hurt when I drive too long. I have anxiety."
"Why not get help for your anxiety?" "I don't like the way the medication makes me feel!!! Stop asking me. It pisses me off."
Turns out he had "emergency" anti-anxiety meds for a program at his job. No anxiety meds for Chicago, though.
"I'd take a bullet for you, but not go to Chicago. I'd go to PEORIA, but NOT Chicago." For internalized racism reasons as I learned. I get it, black people are sooOoOoOoOOoo scary. They're rare where we live. It's so fucking WHITE in this town! I was told I was going to get TRAFFICKED if I walked by myself at night time. Cause "You're rare, you're Puerto Rican. You'd go for a lot of money. Hahaha." What partner says that? Oh yeah, him. I hope he never gets into another relationship. For the sake of the girl. Try to understand, this was a once in a lifetime event. I won a spot in Kesha's listening party in Chicago. I sobbed I cried I choked on my own spit begging him to go with him. He has NO experience in Chicago so he says "well according to x who lives there, depending on the area, it's BAD. Chicago's BAD." I understood that the timing sucked, the event was on Mother's Day. Y'know, a holiday I don't believe should be a big deal if you truly love your mother every day should be Mother's Day. Also Kesha was there. I got to meet her. A photo with her. I was able to talk to her. I wanted to find out if her PO Box was still available but he rushed me to leave "Marie my blood sugar is super low I'm gonna throw up we HAVE to leave I HAVE TO EAT. Marie come on. Get the LYFT. I don't feel good." at the end of the trip, after the deep dish pizza and the nice hotel, he suggested we take time off to visit Chicago again.. to see more things.. Mind you we argued prior about even going in the first place..?
I have him blocked, but I archived our messenger messages. That includes all the voice clips. I don't know why that was his go to. He also has a smart phone with voice to text, but as I said, he used voice messages to intimidate me. It'd be 5 minutes at a time of just voice clips that could've been a text. "It's just faster than typing, sometimes it hurts to type." I'm disabled, too.. I get it.. but he merely did it so he could raise his voice and have a shitty tone with me. All. the time. If I were a truly evil person those voice clips would see the public. I'm only a little evil with telling my story here. I guess.
I mentioned the tone issue several times and had to eventually give up cause "I talk to everyone the way I talk to you. My mom, my sister, my friends." but I never witnessed that. His mother, yes. Not his friends, though. He'd say to me anytime I'd get upset, "I'm quite literally tone deaf, Marie." "Well you don't talk to your patrons the way you talk to me??" He had to tell me that he comes home to unwind, cause he puts up that fake customer service personality. Where was the good boyfriend personality? He told me anytime that I was acting distant he was quietly sobbing in the bedroom alone. He was so worried about me and our relationship.. But proceeded to do nothing about it. I was merely his property. Someone to demean and control. He couldn't though. I'm no ones property. Sorry!
In June we adopted Gold. She's forever a kitten at heart. Callie hated her, as expected with a new animal in the house. Callie was hostile. Isaac said he was going to give up and we'd have to return Gold cause it wasn't working out. He sobbed on Facebook asking for reassurance and then bitched at me saying how I wasn't reassuring him. Sir, you got that on Facebook. You're standing here yelling at me about the cats not getting along. Why would I want to respond to that? I was sobbing on the floor with Gold rubbing all over me. But it was my fault I wasn't comforting the man yelling at me. Meanwhile another mutual of ours prior to all this had also adopted a new cat and the original cat was doing the same shit. Everything he'd say in confidence to me, but never the people he spoke shit about by the way. "I got you this cat to make YOU happy. I mean yeah I wanted another cat, too.."
For my birthday all I asked for was an Icee. "I forgot." He came home with flowers and candy, but i was coming to greet him at the door and he yelled at me "DON'T LOOK. STOP. LEAVE." to surprise me with what he got. Which I would get but that's how he usually "spoke" to me.
"Despite my short comings, I do pretty good right?!" with candy, a ghost plushie, and flowers. "I'll get you an Icee tomorrow." It was 2 days later. Which sounds petty but when that's all you ask for and get told "Oh I forgot." as if I'm not known for being the Icee Queen of the last 20 years of my online presence.
"I don't want to be perceived as a bad person." The simple solution is to be a good person? He would say "your mom is nice, but she's not kind." He was also indirectly describing himself anytime he said that.
There were a few times when he'd be in a bad mood and completely shut down, refusing to talk to me. He'd isolate, but I was never allowed to do that. Cause as he said before, word for word "you need to learn how to cope."
"You say I need therapy but what about you!?"
"Didn't you tell me you were doing behavioral stuff for BPD??"
Just turned back to me "but you need therapy, too, Marie!!"
It's weird to remember him saying we'd need couples therapy before we ever got married. Was he foreshadowing things? Was he actually aware of the problems? Or was it just me? I had the problems, there was nothing wrong with him.
I rarely argued back at this man. There was one moment I was having issues with my ebay account and bank being linked together. As he's going off on me about how the bank does this weird shit all while opening my mail and reading me what was in it. I think that was the only time I snapped at him. I said "DON'T. OPEN. MY MAIL." and it stuck to him.. but not permanently. He opened mail addressed to me from my aunt. Gifts. I was in the other room and he's opening and spoiling the surprise. And then telling me "we can't use these bed sheets with the pillow topper. We'll have to donate them." Any gifts I got that are no longer in my possession was not up to me. I barely had any say in what we did as a couple.
"Our parents are gonna move to Florida and we'll get the house! But (his brother) will still be living in the basement." I wasn't okay with that. "We don't have much of a choice Marie. We can't afford that house on our own. He'd be splitting rent with us." I didn't want another person living in the basement if we were a married couple.. y'know, I'd like whatever imaginary privacy together. "He keeps to himself we won't even know he's there half the time." It was a "too bad" situation that I had no say.
I want my own house. "With peace and love, good luck getting a house with the housing market." Going to prove him wrong while he still lives in his parents basement. "I'm gonna save up and get a studio apartment."
"You can keep the promise ring. Cause I will always love you." I'm unsure what to do with it, as I still have it in my possession. "We'll always be best friends." I don't want to be best friends with an abuser. Emotional abuse is still abuse. It's fucked with my brain. I was mistreated so much by friends and family. I didn't deserve any of this. "I fucked up. You deserved better." Is the truest shit he's ever said to me. I doubt he ever loved me. He just loved the idea of having someone put up with him. He knew he was unbearable. Blame it on his ADHD or whatever. I don't have the full story, but I do remember his ex girlfriend saying he was abusive, too. I only knew of what he'd tell me. And that she hated me haha. I didn't push or question it, but now I've lived it. Almost 5 years of a "trial run" relationship. "You've never been in an actual relationship, so congrats. This was the trial run! This is what it's like to live with someone!"
Then there was my doctors appointment. The stress had my A1C at a 6.6. My doctor said she could see the light fade from my eyes. I told Isaac what was said. He was just quiet about it. He knew he was the problem. He just had nothing to say. And the stress was the main factor. My A1C now is 6.2 5 months post breakup. So uh. Yeah. Plus probably from cutting out the amount of rice as this man only knew how to make rice dishes.
Speaking of dishes, I'd try and learn recipes. I'd make meals and I'd offer him some food to sample. I wanted to grow as a cook as I'm just a beginner and he always makes meals. Most of the time he refused and would say "I can't force myself to eat something I don't want, Marie. I'll throw up. I will literally throw it up." Instead of anything normal like just trying a bite or saying "no thanks I'm not hungry." It had to be "If I'm not hungry for it I will get sick!" He was.. overdramatic a good chunk of our relationship. I remember being in Florida while we were still long distance, I mentioned Dominoes cause the store was closed and I was ordering food. He mentioned him having an eating disorder when I said he needed to try my favorite thing from there, the garlic parm bites. It was a voice clip as you'd expect over messenger. That "I can't eat something I don't want, I will puke it up. I have an eating disorder." I don't know how true that is. Him having an ED. A lot of the time I just got quiet and gave up. There was no point in talking to him when he would shut down like this.
The final straw was me falling in love with someone else. I wanted to attempt polyamory but "those lips are mine. And that pussy is mine." He also gave up once he realized I fell for someone else. I even told him the day I was questioning my feelings and he thanked me for being honest. But then he questioned if I cheated on him during that time. I'm sure his friends and family got a different story. His dad says polyamory is cheating. His mom scolded him for getting into a relationship with someone whos polyamorous. No fault of mine, he knew this before we got together. I was in a poly with my ex overseas and a girl of 3 months. More toxicity there! I just love red flags!
So there I am. Just vibing in a field of red flags. Cause they're just so charming. And I'm a fool. But I'll get better. I just don't know how long that'll take me. He is still haunting me in my dreams. I never want to see him or his family again.
Hi, after what we saw today I'm ready for the new fics! So may I request Clay or (Dream) x fem!reader were they also announce that they are getting married after he revealed? "Also we're getting married in 3 months" P.s -can you make it were none of their friends knew, and found out sametime as the fans?
Because of the fact that the video clearly took more then one take to get it right. I'm gonna make that one of the key points of the Story.
⚠️ Warning for swearing ⚠️
(When recording the video)
For the past few minutes Clay has been doing take after take. Trying to get the perfect way to drop the news of us getting married. But after at least 10 minutes of him mumbling at a camera I just got up from the bed in the corner and walked behind him.
"Do you need help?" I ask with a chuckle as I pull up a chair. "Hi camera, you might know me as Y/n, Y/u/n or just that random person who betrayed L'manburg with Eret and starting dating Dream afterwards" I say with one breath.
But I stop at the sound of the tea kettle sitting beside me doing his iconic wheeze before I continue "And you also may be asking why I'm in this video, it's about Dreams face reveal, not some random girl" I get cut off by Clay suddenly saying
"your not a Random girl" as he kisses me on the forehead and turns back to the camera "And the reason why she is here is because a month ago we got engaged" Clay says with less mumbles then before.
"Dear god, this is gonna be weird to post" I say as I hold up my hand to show the ring he got me. "The wedding is happening in 3 months and we are both hoping for all of our friends and family to show up. And hopefully he doesn't start a WAR with Tommy at the wedding". I look at him with a strong death glare.
"I'm more mature then that" Clay says as he turns a bit in his chair. "Clay, we make governments in Minecraft for a living. There is no such thing as being mature" I say as we spend the next few minutes explaining what's gonna be happening and when.
(Putting the video online)
We have been looking at the chat flying by during the face reveal, saying either hateful or kind things about him. And I've been standing behind him and leaning against his gaming chair from moral support the entire time.
"How many people are gonna say that your hot?" I ask as he laughs and responds with "There hearts are gonna be shattered at the end of this video". "Most probably more by the fact that it's me and not George." I say as we break out into a fit of laughter.
"I love you, remember that no matter what they say I will still love you" He turns to me in his chair and pulls me onto him so I sit on his lap. "I love you too" I kiss him as we turn back to the monitor, "Here we go!" I say as I show up on screen.
'Who is she?'
'Is that Y/n?!?'
'Who the fuck is she'
The chat says but when we suddenly say the big news the chat completely changes and turns into.
'WHAT?!?'
'Will someone explain to me who she is!?!'
And
'POG!'
And some hateful things but we don't pay attention to those because suddenly from across the house we hear Nick scream
"WHAT THE FUCK!" Which completely catches us off guard and sends us into another fit of laughter as we hear him run up to the door and open it. "Why didn't you tell me!?!" But we don't answer because of us still dying on the floor.
Ring!
"oh dear god someone is calling" I say as I get up and check who it is.
Ring!
"Some- someones calling me too" Clay picks up his phone while trying to calm down his laughing as Sapnap is just left there with no answers to his several questions.
(The aftermath)
We had to answer a lot of calls that day. And when George got to the house he stole my ring and wore it the rest of the day. And I also spent half of my day talking Eret into being my maid of honor because of both of us being the traitors of Lmanburg and also the bride and maid of honor would be very funny to me...
(this was a lot funner than I thought it would be so I might make a part 2 thats the wedding so... Stay tuned!)
guys so i decided to rewatch the first lone star episode and and and omg
get ready for another analysis <3333
so obviously there's the conversation between tk and owen about tk and alex and in that few minutes we learn so much about how owen feels about that relationship
he doesn't congratulate tk right away, and when he does it's just "i'm happy for you son" but he's very much against the proposal, but he wouldn't ever actually say it to tk, despite tk knowing. and one of the things that stuck with me too is "why don't you move in first"
tk and carlos are literally everything tk and alex weren't, in the best fucking way possible.
they took their relationship slow, well when they actually started dating. there's a good few months between season 1 and season 2, so it's safe to assume tk and carlos moved in 6/7 maybe 8 months into their relationship?
not only that, but owen actually adores carlos. this is evident so much. owen constantly insisting carlos call him owen and not captain (a sign he has respect for carlos) and even when him and tk were broken up, owen hugs carlos in the hospital.
the hug in the hospital always gets me. because when owen tells everyone the bad news, he makes eye contact with carlos, no one else. he looks at him and he sees the fear in carlos's eyes, the fear on his face. and he hugs him. they're in this together. because they both love tk. they have that in common
owen really cares about carlos and it's so cute. they're scenes together in 2×08, where owen talks to him after he gets suspended. he reassures carlos that his instincts are good because he has a heart. he uses his emotions to make his calls. and y'know what? owen knew carlos was right and he's only known carlos like a year. carlos's own dad didn't believe him (yes i'm still salty over this, fuck you gabriel) but owen knew there's no way carlos was wrong.
and carlos has so much respect for owen. i mean, calling him captain all time, while now is a running gag, shows just how much respect he has. owen is his boyfriend's fiancée's dad, and he still calls him by his title. and in 3×05 carlos called owen his father in law, more or less which means he saw not only a future with tk, but with tk's family, long before their engagement.
and yeah, as a parent all you want is for your child to find their person (and for the parent to like the partner). anyway, omfg did tk find his person.
i could go into a whole analysis in itself about tk and carlos, but i'll summarize with they get each other and that's what you need in a relationship
when you watch the show, owen never once has a bad thing to say about carlos. never. he's always been in love with tk and carlos being together, because they're so good for each other. sure they go through their ups and downs and they fight, but all of them led them to where they are now. engaged.
owen never says a bad thing about alex either, but his attitude, the silence after tk telling him he was gonna ask alex to marry him, the snippy comment of maybe you should move in first. he never does anything like that when it comes to carlos. owen loves carlos
so i just know owen is gonna freak out when they tell him their engaged. like he's gonna be so upset they didn't invite him to the official announcement and insists on an engagement party and he makes a huge deal about it, because he's so happy for them. he's gonna have the biggest smile on his face everytime he sees them and everytime one of them calls the other fiance/husband :)
#i'm sorry#but i literally love this parallel#like#jsmsnsnzndjx#y'know#tk and carlos are everything tk and alex werent#also i want to say again#this isnt a hate post on alex#him and tk just weren't good together#obviously#carlos reyes#tk strand#owen strand#911 lone star#tarlos#911 lone star spoilers#:DD#analysing with mars :')
Hi, can I request a fluff and angst fanfic about Damian x female reader? In which they're into an engagement mainly for business, but Y/N was insecure about it because she's a chubby cinnamon roll (which she didn't realise at all), and she felt left out by the entire Bat family. And so, during a true or dare between entire Batfam and their friends, Jon asked for Damian's type and he reply almost like a hint about Y/N, leaving his teammates wanting to see Y/N. They did later saw her, but somehow one of them said they didn't know Damian would fall into love with this kind of girl, which hurt Y/N unconsciouy and she ended up wanting to end the engagement. Damian chased after her and calm her down with Harley and Ivy Poison stop by and scolding the entire Batfam and League of how much they made their little angel felt leftout and threaten dear Robin that they would hunt him down if he's not gonna say anything clearly!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I really like Harley Quinn and Ivy Poison!!!!
I'm so sorry for how long this took me, but I couldn't stop thinking about it when I read this request! Anyways, I hope this is what you were looking for and I hope you enjoy it!
Life wasn’t fair, she knew this. Had known this as she grew up. But there was a small part of her that hoped that life would go her way once she was old enough to make her own choices.
But that hope was stomped down when she started high school and her parents planned out her future. The only good thing she got out of it, was that she was allowed to pick her minor when it was time to start university.
Throughout the years, she avoided the questions from the press and her friends when she suddenly became friends with Damian Wayne. The only ones to know about the arranged marriage between the two, were her family and the Wayne’s.
It was in an agreement that when they finished school, they would announce their engagement.
There was nothing wrong with it, but as she started to get to know the Wayne’s, she felt a little out of place. Like there was an inside joke or something that she wasn’t allowed to know. She knew people had secrets, she even had secrets. But sometimes it hurts.
Laugher broke through her thoughts, blinking at her phone. She dialed a friend’s number and brought the phone to her ear. As she waited for them to pick up, she couldn’t help but overhear the group of boys’ conversation.
“I didn’t think he’d actually answer,” someone said, after his laughter died down.
“Well, the rules say he had to answer so,” another said with a shrug.
“I’m more surprised by the type of girls Damian’s into.” She frowned, and watched them from the corner of eye. They must be some of Damian’s friends, she thought.
“You mean like that?” someone asked, gesturing to her. She frowned and furrowed her eyebrows as she listened to them talk.
She hung her head as her mood soured as they continued talking. Okay, so maybe she wasn’t the prettiest looking, but she never thought Damian would be so swallow to go for someone that wasn’t her.
“Pumpkin,” a voice said, shaking her out of her thoughts. “You there?”
“Uh, yeah, yeah I am,” she answered, shaking her head and shifting her eyes forward. “I uh, I’m going to have to do a rain check tonight. Something came up.”
“Sure, I’ll tell Red. Let us know when you can, okay?”
“I will, thanks Harls.”
Later that day, she stood in front of the mirror, turned to look at her body. Okay, so maybe she wasn’t the skinniest or the prettiest person. But she liked to think her personality more then made up her looks.
And well, she never really talked to Damian about it. Why he had agreed to marry her, or at the least, broke it off if she wasn’t someone he wasn’t into.
She tugged her shirt down and sighed. Maybe it was time to end it. It’s been nine years since the start of the engagement, and it wasn’t fair to Damian for being sucked into her parents' deals.
Making up her mind, she brought out some paper and pen and began writing. Once she finished, she stuffed it in an envelope, along with the ring and sealed it. Making a quick decision, she grabbed her keys and left for Wayne Manor.
When she arrived, she spent a few minutes just sitting in the car, wondering if she’d have to talk to Damian. That was the last thing she needed, for him to talk her out of it.
Taking a deep breath, she climbed out of the car and made her way towards the door. She reached out and knocked on the door. She rocked on her feet as she waited, hoping Alfred would be the one to answer.
And her hopes were answered when she saw the family butler standing in the doorway. “Miss L/N, I wasn’t aware that you were dropping by. Shall I go announce that you’re here?”
“That’s okay Allred, I only came to drop something for Damian,” she answered with a small smile.
“I’m afraid he isn’t here at the moment,” he said, and she sighed in relief.
“That’s fine,” she said, and held up the envelope for him to take. “Can you, uh, can you give this to him when he gets back?”
Alfred frowned at the envelope she held, and she looked down. She was getting a little uncomfortable under his stare, and wondered if he'd say something that would change her mind.
“Of course,” he said, taking the envelope from her grasp. “Is there something you’d wish for me to tell him?”
“That’s okay,” she said, looking up to him. He gave her a sad smile and wondered if he knew what was inside. “I’ll, uh, I’ll see you around Alfred. And thank you for everything.”
“My pleasure, Miss L/N. I hope to see you soon,” he replied. She hesitated and stepped forward to give him a hug. He tensed at first and returned it, squeezing her a little tightly. “I’m sure you’ll be missed.”
“Thanks.”
~~
Two weeks.
It’s been two weeks since she wrote the letter, two weeks of ignoring Damian’s attempts to talk. Two weeks of listening to her mother whine about the broken engagement, and her father’s belittling her about how she ruined everything. Two weeks of Harley and Ivy pestering her until she finally told them why.
“But you love him!” Harley exclaimed, moving to sit beside Y/N on the couch. “I don’t understand why you ended it, Pumpkin.”
Y/N rubbed her face and sighed, wishing they would just drop it. But they didn’t and kept going. “Because look at me!” she finally snapped. Moving off the couch, she faced the two and gestured to herself.
“I don’t look like someone Damian would marry! I’m not pretty or…or…I’m not a supermodel. And besides, I feel like I don’t even fit in with the Wayne family. I mean, look at the family. They all have looks and great personalities, they’re fun and adventurous, and their lives are amazing. And then...and then there’s me who’s just boring and average who could care less about adventure. I’m just...meh.”
She paused, wrapping her arms around her waist, trying to make herself small. It’s the first time she said her thoughts out loud. It felt a little freeing, but it still hurt.
“The only reason why we were even engaged was for a stupid business deal my dad struck with Bruce Wayne. I would like to add that Mr. Wayne didn’t even look that interested in the arrangement, and neither did Damian,” she finished, deflating a little. Finally telling someone about the arrangement.
“Oh flower,” Ivy said, standing up and pulling her into a hug. “If he can’t love you for who you are or only cares about looks, then he doesn’t deserve you. You should marry for love, so you made the right choice.”
She rested her head on Ivy and sighed. “But it wouldn’t have been a loveless marriage,” she whispered, “I love him, it would make it a one-sided loveless marriage.”
She felt Harley join the hug and she closed her eyes as tears started to form.
“You never cared about your looks before,” Harley mused, playing with Y/N’s hair. “What brought this on?”
Y/N opted to stay quiet and shook her head. Ivy called her name and she sighed. She knew they wouldn’t stop until she answered, and she was afraid of what they would do. This time, Harley called her name, but firmer. “Okay fine, but you can’t do anything stupid.”
Harley scoffed and pulled away to poke Y/N’s nose. “When have I ever?” She gave Harley a look and she just giggled. “Okay, so maybe there were a few times but I’m not letting you off the hook. So, spill.”
She rubbed her face and groaned. “I overheard Damian’s friends talk about how they couldn’t see him falling in love with someone like me. And they're right, I’m fat, and plain looking.”
“You are not fat,” Ivy said, narrowing her eyes. “You’re a little chuddy yes, but you're healthy and that’s all anyone can ask for.”
“What she said,” Harley agreed as she walked out of the room. She came back a moment later with her mallet. “Come on Red, we’ve got work to do.”
“What? No!” she called as the two made their way to the door. “You promised!” But it fell on deaf ears as she watched her two parental figures leave the apartment. Mumbling a string of curses, she took out her phone and sent out a message.
Damian ignored everyone in the room, and frowned at his phone. He stared at the two words like it was mocking him. It’d been two weeks of silence from her and the first words she sends him is I’m sorry?
Scoffing, he typed out a reply and just before he could press send, the door slammed open.
There was a collective gasp around the room as they watched two of Gotham’s sirens walk into the living room.
“Man, and here I thought we were going to have a quiet night,” Garth complained, leaning back against the couch.
“That’s what you get when you say ‘sure is a quiet night,’” Jon mocked, Garth made a face at him but chose not to say anything.
“What do you want, Harley?” Bruce asked tiredly. Damian had a faint feeling that this isn’t the first time Harley barged into the manor.
Harley pointed her mallet at the boys and smirked as they squirmed a little. Damian narrowed his eyes, wondering if there’s going to be a fight or not.
“A little birdie told me that you are making fun of girls like Y/N,” she said. Damian’s eyes widened in surprise. They knew Y/N? But she’s never mentioned that. But then again, there are things he hasn’t told her yet.
“Y/N?” Wally asked, confused. He wasn’t the only one, one look around the room told Damian that no one knew who she was talking about. “Don’t know who that is.”
“Mhm, that’s okay. She knows who you are though. And she’s told us what you’ve said,” Harley continued, “about how you don’t see Damian marrying someone who’s chubby, who is a bit self-conscious about who they are. Which leads me…” she trailed off and pointed her mallet at the Wayne boys.
They narrowed their eyes and watched closely to see what she might do next. Their eyes were especially on Ivy. She hasn’t said much during Harley’s speech. But her glare spoke volumes.
“Why is it whenever Y/N comes home from hanging out with Damian and everyone here, she’s sad?” Harley asked, and the boys widened as they realized who they were talking about.
“You’re talking about Y/N? Damian’s fiancé?” Jason asked. Wally, Gath and Jon’s head whipped around to look at Damian.
“You’re engaged?!”
Damian chose to ignore them and narrowed his eyes at the two. “What do you mean she’s sad? And how do you know?”
“Exactly that,” Ivy said with a shrug. “She didn’t tell us until today, but we knew there was something wrong. Said that she felt like she didn’t fit in, like you just didn’t care that she was there.”
Okay, so she didn’t say it in so many words, but that’s what Ivy got out of it.
She watched and listened as the Wayne boys tried to defend themselves. She raised her hand and they stopped talking.
“Is that why she ended the engagement?” Damian asked.
“She did what?” Damian’s brothers asked in unison. He didn’t answer and Ivy nodded.
“Better go fix it, baby bird,” Harley said, pointing at Damian.
Not needed to be told twice, Damian stood and left, ignoring the protest of his friends and family. He chuckled when he heard the groans of everyone as Harley and Ivy started their lecture on why you shouldn’t talk bad about people you don’t know.
It’s been twenty minutes since Ivy and Harley left, and she can’t help but wonder what they’re doing. She had almost followed them, but decided against it. She’ll wait until they get back for the answers.
A knock on the door pulled her out of her thoughts, and she looked up from her book in confusion. Harley and Ivy would have just walked in, and she wasn’t expecting anyone to come over.
Setting the book on the couch, she got up and made her way to the door. Her eyes narrowed as she saw who it was through the peephole. She bit her lip and debated on whether or not she should open the door.
“I know you’re in there, Y/N,” Damian said. He sounded tired, like he hasn’t been sleeping lately. “Can I come in, please? We need to talk.”
Sighing, she unlocked the door. He looked as tired as he sounded. She stepped aside and waited until he was inside before closing the door.
“You didn’t tell me you knew Harley and Ivy,” he said after a few minutes of silence. She shrugged, keeping her attention on the door as she answered him.
“I met them when I was in grade 10,” she mumbled, “was running from someone and I asked for their help. Since then, they’ve kind of adopted me.”
“Do your parents know?”
She shook her head. “I don’t think they would care.”
Damian snorted, turning around to look at her. She was still refusing to look at him. “I think they would care if their only daughter was hanging around with Gotham’s most wanted.”
“No, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t,” she argued. “They were the ones who signed my life away. I mean, the whole engagement was because of a business deal.” She hadn’t meant to, but she let the bitterness seep into her voice. “Whatever, it doesn’t matter anyways.”
Damian flinched as she dismissed it, and reached out to grab her arm. She tensed but didn’t pull away, Damian took that as a good sign, and turned her around. She let him, but kept her gaze on his chest.
“My friends are stupid,” Damian stated, surprising her. “We were playing truth or dare and I was asked what my type of a girl was. I didn’t think your first meeting with them would end our engagement. I wished you would have talked to me about it though, instead of that.”
She hung her in shame. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I just, I don’t know. On top of what your friends said, and the whole arranged marriage thing, I didn’t want to marry someone who doesn’t love me back.”
She froze when she realized what she said. She shut her eyes, and covered her face with her hands, willing the flush on her cheeks to go away. But it didn’t.
“You love me?” Damian asked, and she could hear the smirk. She didn’t say anything, she just nodded. “Why didn’t you say anything?” She shrugged. Damian huffed out a laugh, and gently pried her hands off her face. When she still didn’t look up, he grabbed her chin and tilted her head up. “I love you too.”
Her eyes snapped open, and she stared at him dumbfounded. He gave her a soft smile and leaned forward a little, resting his forehead on hers. “I love the way you are now, and I wouldn’t change anything about you.”
“Do you really mean that?” she asked quietly. So quietly, he almost didn’t catch it. He nodded.
“With all my heart.”
She looked at him, looking to see if he was lying. When all she found was the truth, she closed the distance and kissed him. She bundled up his shirt as he cupped her cheeks gently. She put all her love into that kiss, and he eagerly matched her pace.
When they needed air, she pulled back and smiled when he followed after her.
“So, does that mean we can get married now?” Damian asked. She pretended to think about it, and he poked her sides a little.
“I guess so,” she answered with a laugh. He pulled her into a hug, which she returned, nuzzling her face in his shirt. “Are we still waiting until we’re done with school?”
“Would give us time to get to know each other. Really get to know each other,” he added when she was about to say something. “And maybe this time around, you’ll feel like you fit in with my family.”
“Wow, they left nothing out, did they?” she questioned. Damian chuckled and kissed the top of her head. “I love you, Damian.”
“I love you too.”
Christmas Eve Dance
Jack Hughes fluff
Summary: after the kids are sleep, yours and jacks parent duties kick in.
"Jack if you drop that and the kids wake up I'm gonna tell them you killed Santa," I threaten to my husband. He gasps dramatically.
"You wouldn't dare," he challenged.
"Try me," I raise my eyebrows at him before setting down the wrapped gifts in my hand. Jack set his load down next to time then backed off so I could arrange them around the tree.
After a few straight minutes of present arrangement I step back to look at my work. I smile taking in the tree with its white and green theme. I could see the few colored ornaments, special to our family, displayed on the trees front. Some were pictures sealed against wooden shapes, some were the ugly ones schools sends home (but the best few of those), one was a Forrest green heart with the coordinates of important places in mine and jacks relationship: where we met, first place we lived together, where we got engaged, and where we got married.
"Looks great darling," Jack said kissing me on the cheek.
"Thanks now I think Santa has one more task before he can head off," I hint walking over to the cookies left sitting on the coffee table. Jack laughs at me before taking one of his own and eating it.
"What was your favorite present as a kid?" I ask as he sets the plate filled with cookies in between us.
"I have the most basic answer ever but it's gotta be my first pair of skates I can remember. Yours?"
"When I got a puppy," I answer.
"Jackson? The dalmation?"
"That's the one."
"Can I ask a kinda sensitive question?" Jacks asks.
"You can ask me anything, I know you wouldn't ask something to purposefully hurt me," i respond.
"What was Christmas like before your mom died?" he spoke gently. I smile at the memories.
"She would decorate the house to the max. Like I mean the living room, each bedroom, and the dinning room had their own trees. Each had a specific color scheme. We would put these big Charlie Brown lights on the house outside, along with other light up decorations for the yard, she'd decorate the mantle all scenic, everywhere you'd look: Christmas. She would make plans with friends to go drive by and look at houses all lit up, it was a few hour ordeal. It was everything I could've asked for. I was always happy, she went above and beyond, I never told her how much I appreciated it enough," I felt jacks hand wipe my face off, "sorry I ramble didn't i?"
"It's fine. I love when you talk about your mom. You get the best smile I've ever seen and your eyes light up a lot. I'm glad to see how your mom has shaped your Christmas spirit," Jack smiled. I sent one back before we sat in a comfortable silence.
"Ok bed time," I announce after we ate way more cookies than Jacks diet allows.
"No wait I have one more thing," Jack grabs my hand and spins me around.
"Jack it's 3 am and we all know the kids aren't gonna be patient when they wake up," I try to reason my way to bed.
Me and Jack started the Christmas tradition when we moved in together, we would spend time with family; playing games and other activities to occupy ourselves Christmas Eve. Then we would watch our fav movies just the two of us and enjoy ourselves however it felt right that year. When the kids came around the tradition was added to; after our movies we'd put out presents and eat cookies. Our small movie marathon lasted longer than expected, and we were up later than usual.
"it'll be quick, promise," Jack walked over to his phone with laid on the couch still. Have Yourself A Marry Little Christmas played through the speaker. I smiled as Jack made his way back to me.
Have yourself a marry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight
Jack grabs my hand and leads me toward the open area behind our couch. He sends me a loving smile before holding me close and beginning to sway us. The twinkling lights placed around the room blurred into the background as I focused on Jack. His hair was a slight mess, his eyes glowed with the lights, and I could make out part of our tree in them.All the lights were off expect the ones being used for decor. Their soft glow showing up on his skin, casting light shadows in certain places. I leaned head down to rest on his chest, feeling him kiss my head and resting there, as the song continued.
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
I thought about our families. Jack and mines wonderful kids upstairs sleeping, no doubt about Santa. I was thankful for them both, how beautiful they were. They turned out better then I could've every hoped.
His parents and brothers, and how we'd be flying out to meet them for a Christmas dinner and be staying there through New Years. They were always there if i needed anything, including Jack or not. His parents especially helps me during both pregnancies when he had to be away.
I smiled thinking how my dad is celebrating Christmas, we offered to let him stay with us but he declined. Ever since I moved out, i worried about dad spending holidays alone, even after him insisting he's ok. I didn't worry too much considering I'd see him again for the festivities at the Hughes house.
The team and their significant others/ families popped into my mind. I hope they were as happy as I am right now.
Through all the years we'll be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a marry little Christmas now
The song ended and Jack brought me into a slow and sweet kiss. Once we pull away I can't help but smile.
"Jack that was really romantic," I complement.
"I try," he shrugs. We both begin to quietly laugh, "well it's bed time for us now."
"Yes it is," I sign jokingly, expressing my tiredness. He chuckled before leading me up the stairs like a prince would.
"Good night baby," I say kissing him quickly once we're both settled.
"Good night love", he responds.
Fake Engagement | Tom Holland
"Clark, how are we ever gonna get Tom and Y/N together?" Sam asked. "They're perfect for each other."
"Y/N always feels like she has to look out for me. Until she knows someone else is watching over me, she won't take care of herself," Clark said.
"Do you think she loves Tom?"
"I know she does."
"How can we get her to give him a chance?"
Clark snapped her fingers. "I've got it! What if we got engaged?"
"Darling, I adore you, but engaged? Now? I mean, so soon, love? We're really young."
"We could just pretend for a little while. Make it convincing so Y/N doesn't feel guilty about leaving me to fend for myself," Clark explained.
"Won't our parents be upset when they find out the truth?"
"Yours will understand once Tom is finally happy. As for mine, well. They'll get over it eventually." Clark gave a shrug.
"I'll cook a special meal," Sam said. "We can invite everyone and make an announcement."
Clark kissed him. "Count me in as your sous-chef."
*
Tom had been flirting with you relentlessly for months. You'd met on a film set together and he'd been trying to win your heart nearly the entire time.
You'd met all his brothers and as it turned out, one fell in love with your best friend, Clark.
You liked Sam, but you wished you could be sure that his intentions with Clark were honorable. Boys his age liked to have fun and there was nothing wrong with that. You just didn't want to see Clark heartbroken. You were always the one to guide her.
One thing you were sure of: your own happiness could wait.
"Join us for dinner, love. Sam's cooking tonight." Tom interrupted your thoughts. "Mum has been dying to see you, too."
"Tell Sam I'll be there."
*
Knock knock knock.
You rapped on the cream wooden door. Tom opened it with a huge smile on his face.
"You came!"
He pulled you inside. "Come on, everyone else is already here."
Tom took your coat for you. "You look pretty," he said, confident as ever with his flirting.
"Thanks."
The two of you joined everyone else in the dining room and sat down to eat. You and Tom were across from Clark and Sam.
The food was delicious and toward the end of the meal, Sam rose from his seat. "Everyone, Clark and I have an announcement!" Conversations stopped and Sam cleared his throat.
"You see the thing is, we, I mean I, I mean, I mean," Sam tripped over his words and Clark touched his arm with her lithe fingers. Her smile reassured him, and he started again.
"Everyone, Clark has agreed to marry me!"
The whole table burst into applause and congratulatory exclamations. Butterflies of excitement and love spread through your stomach and chest while you watched your friend glow with joy.
"Congrats, bro!" Tom said. Then he leaned over to you. "See, Y/N. Love is in the air. It's about time you let someone, namely, me, court you."
You snorted. "Court me?"
"Come on, Y/N! One date. Please, look how happy they are. We could be like that."
You sighed.
"I know you like me, Y/N."
"Cocky, aren't we?"
"Am I wrong?"
"No." You tried to hide your smile.
"I'll give you one date. But it better be romantic," you said.
That G-D Ring of Yours
High Fidelity’s Robyn Brooks X Female reader
Summary: You seek comfort from your neighbor Rob
Masterlist
There's probably gonna be a part 2
Word count: 2.5k words
Warning(s): +15 | implied cheating, internalized homophobia, heterosexism, author and Rob swearing, no hate to polyamorists but major hate to bad faith players, shameless self insert, no beta, barely edited, long as fuck I'm so sorry
Author's note: I'm having anxiety for no discernable reason and my brain has decided this is ideal fuel for a fic, so please enjoy. EDIT: ha ha yeah still anxious but we're doing stuff about it
-------------------------------------------------------
"-- And she just touched my hand by accident and I just felt this– this spark between us…"
It was so sweet how he was talking about it. Or at least it would be were this not your fiancé explaining how he had been seeing another person behind your back. Had you rushed into things with him? Gotten hitched after three months because of familial pressure to settle down and start your family? Quite possibly.
But it didn't make that stabbing in your gut hurt any less.
You had been a little gung-ho from date number 1, but he had been right there with you the whole time. Date number 2 happened the following weekend and then you just kept seeing each other more and more until before you knew it you had been introduced to each other's extended families and announced your engagement on Valentine's Day.
You started to suspect something was amiss on Sunday, when you were braiding your hair on the bed and he had gone to take a shower. He accidentally set his phone screen aside with a text chat still open. Thinking nothing of it (he had already told you he was talking to Mark about getting drinks tonight), you looked at the name and saw it belonged to a woman you had never heard of before. Your immediate reaction was 'she must be a new coworker or a cousin,' but then you glanced again and saw the text conversation mirrored the same kind of ‘sentiments’ he texts you.
The dirt burned into your brain for eternity:
You had looked away then. You were actually not going to say anything at all to him that night– had planned to bring it up after Tuesday dinner with your auntie's family, but something came up. It turns out that Jessabelle also frequented the same Starbucks as you (and she's your age, not a teen like you worried). You can't even find it in you to be mad at her since it seemed like she had no idea who you were when she showed you the picture of her date at a baseball game. You tried not to puke as you asked for her number and to send her that picture "for her contact profile."
You hadn't heard a word your fiance had said since the beginning of the phone call and you cut him off with some excuse you barely remember. You tossed your phone carelessly onto the couch and laid back on the cushions in defeat. What now?
You weren't really a drinker or a smoker, and you didn't exactly have friends who would be supportive right now. You could hear them now, your family too– asking you what you did wrong, telling you to just forgive him or how to get even, or simply saying 'well what do you expect? Boys will be boys.'
Maybe… no, you definitely need to get this off your chest before you do something stupid like pretend to forget about it. You had a bad habit of that because you tend to fall fast and hard. Perhaps your neighbor could give you some advice.
Thank the Lord for fire escapes. Rob lived on the floor beneath you, always playing something good from her huge collection of vinyl records. You've told her at least a hundred times before if she played nothing but Phil Collins for the rest of eternity, you could die happy. You crossed your fingers and hoped you weren't being weird or invading her privacy.
Thankfully, she seemed to be expecting you. She even motioned that the latch was undone and waved you inside. Ok the second wine glass made your face grow hot.
"I'm not interrupting am I?"
Rob gave you a warm smile. "I could hear you pacing around your kitchen for about an hour. Was about to come and get you actually."
She pressed the glass into your hand and you made an effort not to grimace. Rob liked her drinks cheap and strong and she never held back. You tried a sip just to be polite, and she snorted at the face you pulled.
"That's right, you like that sweet stuff. What's it called again?"
"Stella Rosa," you mumbled, grateful when she takes the glass back and hands you a water to replace it.
"Favorite flavor," she asked looking at her phone.
"Uh… the peach and the rosé. They're all pretty good, not gonna lie."
"OK, take this, grab a blanket from the hall closet, and tell me what's going on."
You curled up on Rob's couch and put your feet up. There were piles of records all over the place, empty beer cans and a pizza box or two on the coffee table. Your neighbor tapped away at her phone screen before silencing it and slipping it in her back pocket. She gave you a minute or two to speak up, sipping her drink like you two had all night. Which actually you did as you did not want to see your fiancé right now.
You felt two fingers gently tap your forehead. "Come on, dreamer, tell me what's going on in that head of yours."
You swallow the lump in your throat. "I feel a little over dramatic saying my life is about to fall apart."
Rob raised her eyebrows at you. "Damn, OK."
You rush to correct yourself– explain your weird sentiment in more detail but you end up just vomiting words until your voice is hoarse.
"I mean– like– like it's not falling apart per say or whatever– I… the rest of my life is fine its just my relationship that's screwed. Which I guess I'm more worried about because it's gonna screw up all my other relationships for a while too– dang it, let me start over–"
"Babe! Slow down. Breathe." Rob switched drinks with you and against your better judgement you took a sip. Oddly enough it did calm you down. "So… it's your fiancé, right? What did he do?"
You stared at her trying to unscramble your thoughts. "He… I found out he was kind of... dating another person. After I found out, he tried to explain that he didn't think I would mind–"
Rob barked, "let me guess: he didn't think you were exclusive? Pull the Main Chick, Side Chick schtick? Tried to claim 'polyamory' after he got caught?"
Two and two clicked together at last. "Yeah… yeah, he did!," you scoffed, "and it's not like it didn't ever come up in conversation: we spent our third date talking out our, like, sexualities and fantasies and fetishes and shit. If he was polyamorous, wh- why wouldn't he have brought it up then?"
"That is so fucked."
You took a deeper draft of her wine, coughing before setting it aside. Up until now, you've been numb. Now there's this wave of anger boiling up to the surface and you hear yourself getting louder. Rob doesn't flinch but she does give you this look of empathy unlike anything you've seen before.
"If he– if he would have just asked me, I would have told him it was fine. My family does shit like that all the time: nobody bats an eye! If he really thought I wouldn't mind, he wouldn't have been so freaking sneaky about it. He literally lied, Robyn!"
You whipped around and for a brief moment you knew you looked crazy. "He said he was going out for drinks with his guy friend, but he was making plans to go to a baseball game with a girl I've never heard of! If he really thought I wouldn't mind, or if he 'thought I would understand,' then why would go out of his way to lie about who he was with?"
Someone buzzed Rob's door and she left you on the couch momentarily, coming back quickly with two bottles of your favorite wine. "Damn girl, these are kinda bougie: Peach or Rosé?"
"I--"you choked, "Robyn you didn't have to–"
"Peach it is!" She unscrewed the caps and handed you the whole freaking bottle of white, downing the last of her merlot and getting a fresh glass for you.
You felt a little guilty she had spent money on you. But then again it had been her choice. If she didn't want you there, Rob wouldn't have let you in in the first place. Maybe you were just a tinsy bit worried you shouldn't be here.
You and Rob took a break from talking to put on music and get a little tipsy. It came much easier with the help of the Stella Rosa, though Rob initially complained it was 5.5%, she did get accustomed to the sweetness pretty fast, and after consuming half the bottle, realized it was a little easier to get carried away with a drink like this. She admitted it was her first time trying rosé and now she was hooked. Eventually you started talking again, just spilling your guts out with no filter anymore.
"I really think I just hate myself," you said cuddling the cool glassware. "When I found out, I wasn't even thinking of it as a betrayal of my trust– it felt like I was trying to come to terms with it so I could continue with the relationship. Not because it would make me happy but because… I don't know… it's what everybody else wants me to do. They don't even know about it and I was fully prepared not to tell them even though they'd want me to marry him whether they knew or not."
Rob barked a laugh of surprise. "Doh-K!"
"What?"
"Nothing, nothing…" she said, "keep going."
You stared off into the middle distance and leaned into her side. She was a tiny bit warm despite her lithe figure. Made you want to throw your blanket over her shoulders and share your greater warmth.
So you did (you're not great at acting out your desires but this is nice!)
"It's just easier," the words left your mouth unbidden, "I don't even know what that means, but it's true. I don't want to marry him anymore but I don't want to break it off. Not marrying Fiancé means disappointing my family. It means having to find an entire new man to marry sooner rather than later because I'm already 'behind' and lowering my already low expectations.
"It's not gonna make me happy, but I just think it's easier to keep this wedding going because at least I won't have to find somebody new who might not be as good for me just because I didn't want him. Another man won't make me happy so there's no reason to drop him... except that I don't want him."
Rob's brow furrowed. "Are you saying it's easier for you to please your family than it is to be happy?"
"Yes? I– no, I– … I don't know," you sigh. "I guess you could say my priorities are a little… mismanaged."
"Sure, you could say that." Rob wrapped her arms around your shoulders and you inhaled the scent of her soap and cigarettes. "What if you tried… like… not doing that anymore...? You just said you do whatever your family wants you to do. So, just like do what makes you happy for a change."
It really does sound so simple the way she puts it, doesn't it? Why are you doing this to yourself? You're not dependent on them for money or security or happiness for that matter. So... why has your whole life been centered around pleasing them?
"I think… I think I've never really sat down and thought about what makes me happy," you admitted. "I think it's just been that way forever and I might have been too scared to try anything else."
Rob hummed. "Are you still scared now?"
Are you? You look into her eyes and ask yourself a question that has never crossed your mind with such depth. You used to be scared– but what is it about your happiness that you are so afraid of? OK, let’s start a little simpler: what are things that make you happy?
“I like…” you swallowed, trying to break down the barriers you’ve built years and years ago. “I like… coffee. I like… short skirts. I like… girls– I like… my job. I like… music. I think I’d enjoy camping, you know, some day…”
Your words… these things seemed so arbitrary and trivial. But in your house, these things cause dissent. “My family has an opinion about everything. There’s no right way to live in all of their eyes, but I think I figured out a way to get past it. Keep my head down and do what’s expected of me. Graduate college, get a respectable job, find a man to marry, drop the job and become a mother. Just… don’t make waves. It seemed better because the cousins who didn’t or couldn’t… well they became the butt of every joke at the family dinner. Lisa had one miscarriage so she was a ‘failure’ and Don never dated girls so he was gay and that was ‘bad,’ but grandma Zelda did everything a good Christian woman could do and they still gossiped about her behind her back…
“And I just… I just let their ignorance control me for my entire life.” God, you could cry right now, but somehow it just felt too good to say it outloud. “That.. that is so fucked.”
Robyn snorted, and you turned to her as if you’d forgotten she was there. There it was again, that sympathy. Not pity, she did not burden you with tears of her own or try to be angry for you. She just listened and understood. You twisted the diamond encrusted ring on your finger and stared at her. You felt it, that feeling in your heart. No one else had given you that look, like she could really see you.
“You’re not going back to Fiancé, are you?” Her question was equal parts worrisome and hopeful and you already knew the answer in your heart.
“No.”
And that was it. Decision made. Actually easier than you'd thought. Maybe not down the road but it felt good for now. There's the telling your fiancé it's over, the moving out, the public announcement, the inevitable feeling of failure, your family, god, his family too. Untangling your lives would be long and hard. You're not sure if you have that level of commitment and motivation in you but fuck it. Problems for tomorrow.
You rest your head on Rob's shoulder and hope your not pushing any boundaries. She doesn't stop you though, in fact she snuggles you deeper into her. You get the feeling she's been here before though your not sure which side or how bad it was for her.
"I like you way more in the few times I've met you than any man I've ever dated," you heard yourself say. "I'm sure that means something but I'm too tired to decide anymore. No tonight at least."
Rob chuckled. "I like you too, sugar."
If you made it this far, hi 💛 appreciate you, leave me a comment! Or just comment "💛"
i've got this hc that, in a canon timeline but they get together au, shawn & gus either a) make the biggest deal out of their relationship and make everyone know they're now a couple and in 6 months they're engaged bc they know sooner or later they're gonna marry so why wait, yknow? or b) they act completely the same and nobody really knows they're now together until idk shawn mentions packing and jules like "oh i didn't know you were moving, shawn!" and he's like "it's more like i'm taking all my things with me to gus's this time" and then she's like "wait what" and everyone discovers they're together bc they completely forgot they ever were not a thing and didn't really tell anyone about it (even when they're like week 1 of dating if someone asked they would be like "yeah we've been together since always") (same thing for marriage someone asks them if they're married and they're like "yeah we ar- WAIT" bc what do you mean we aren't married? we ARE marriage)
,, the fact that i have almost the exact same post in my drafts i- we just have the same brain. i’m shook.
but bold of us to assume its not both of these:
shawn and gus are 1000x more insufferable & giddy & clingy & Married (tm) but they completely forget to actually say to people specifically that “we’re boyfriends now” because, like, haven’t they always been?
shawn sits on gus’s lap during meetings at the station, gus rests his head on shawns shoulder & thumbs the strip of skin between the hem of his t-shirt & jeans. they get looks from the chief & lassie & jules but none of them say anything bc, really, what can they expect from them in regards to professionalism, this actually seems pretty normal.
shawn barges in on gus at central coast like he always does, but he brings like 3 bouquets of flowers and distracts gus with kisses. gus’s coworkers can see everything but, i mean, this is also the guy who walked through the whole building in a civil war army uniform so they’re not that shook.
shawn announces to everyone that he and gus are moving in together and everyone’s just like “ok cool why do we care?” because neither of them mention that it’s together together (they figure it’s implied) and so everyone’s just like, yeah, seems about right, you guys spend 24/7 together anyways.
juliet only figures out they’re dating when she asks shawn to dinner on saturday because her girlfriend has a friend she thinks would be cute with shawn, and so she wants them all to go on a double date. shawn, of course, is shook.
“i, uh, i’m not single”
“what do you mean?”
“gus and i are dating”
“wait, really!?”
“??? jules you saw us making out at the christmas party last week”
“well, yeah, but i just thought that was normal for you two”
lassie doesn’t figure it out until he’s hanging out with jules and she going on about wedding cakes and colour schemes and he’s like “whose wedding are we taking about?” and she mentions shawn and gus, and he’s like “wait since when?” and she shrugs and says “beats me”
the chief only knows because she overhears lassie and jules talking and then she sees shawn and gus pass out little pink “save the date” cards and she puts two and two together. the rest of the station doesn’t know until they get their own cards. (buzz, poor, sweet guy, doesn’t realise until shawn and gus are actually at the altar reciting their vows and he turns to jules and is like “wait is this a wedding?” and she just looks at him).
the only person who can tell right away that shawn and gus are finally dating, is henry. it’s a normal day, shawn and gus aren’t any more obnoxious than usual, but there’s a certain bright, relaxed, and happy feel to the air. henrys spent the last 30 years watching these two pine over each other, and so the moment when he can feel that tension, heartache, and guilt leave the air, he knows exactly what happened. it was only a day after shawn and gus finally got together, when henry sees the two of them, and it’s the happiest he’s ever seen his son, and so, of course, he knows.
anyways, you’re 100% correct. shawn and gus are That couple, but also everyone thinks it’s normal for them.
#rip i’m dying at ‘wait we’re not married ??’#bless u for sending this i’m in love#these two are such idiots#psych#shawn spencer#burton guster#burton gus guster#shus#shawngus#shawn/gus#shawn x gus#answered
