⎯⎯⎯⎯ @70th sent : it’s early in the morning, too early, when the sound of pattering feet and poorly muffled laughter fills the halls. annie sighs, rolling to press herself as close to finnick as she can with her belly in the way, her voice a warm, sleepy murmur in his ear. “ your kids are awake. ”

he presses his face further into his pillow with a light groan. he hears all too well the ruckus that’s starting to stir up, and he takes a good amount of offense at the implication that this is something the kids have inherited solely from him. rolling his face onto the side, he blinks at her and shakes his head. “MY… kids?” lips all turned up in a grin, “hmm… maybe if we just stay here and are really quiet they’ll go away.” he bumps her nose against his, arm wrapping around her shoulders, and suddenly yanking the covers over both of their heads. finnick knows it’ll do little to deter their two kids, whose small hands now knock on the door of the bedroom. they’ll come in regardless of an answer or any blankets covering their heads. still, he throws out a very loud, very tired, “we’re asleep!” still, the door swings open, just as expected. his arm moves over annie’s belly, protective and sturdy to shield from any jumpers and careless feet.

their eldest comes around the side, lifting the blanket up and crawling up behind him to shove his face in the space above finnick’s head. finnick squeezes his eyes shut in a fake sleep, but there’s a poke right to his neck, and he can’t resist a smile that leads irvin to announce proudly that both annie and finnick are in fact awake. their soon to be middle child though wastes no such investigating effort and simply climbs up and onto the bed and under the covers, scooting up under the blanket between the two parents like the small fish that he is.

finnick’s arm moves out and around irvin, yanking him down into the cuddle pile, as beckett slides under the arm he has around annie and pops his head between the pair. “pirates, we’ve been boarded by pirates!”

Something I find really funny is how for all the rumors that Seed’s staff/writers don’t like Cagalli, Orb under her leadership just keeps ending up in a better (political) position with each addition - Seed Destiny ends with Logos wiped out, Blue Cosmos severely hampered, and the entire Seiran family wiped out, including Yuna. This leaves Cagalli with almost no political opposition in Orb (since the second Battle of Orb would’ve flushed out a majority of the Blue Cosmos/Logos sympathizers within the government/military), along with giving her a boost in popular and military support thanks to her actions and field leadership during the battle.

(Cutting for me just rambling on a bit about the in-universe politics after Seed Freedom)

You can tell with how much she’s managed to get done in the years between Seed Destiny and Seed Freedom - in that short year and a half to two years, she was able to propose and found COMPASS, secret away and upgrade the Impulse, Destiny, Strike Freedom, and Infinite Justice, arrange for ties between Orb and Terminal to investigate/exchange intel (Athrun and Meyrin), and put into place all the evacuation/defensive protocols in case of another attack on Orb (as seen vs Foundation and Requiem, even if she needed Kira to pull an “I lived, bitch” to Aura 😅).

And it doesn’t end there - thanks to Foundation, Cagalli arguably has an easier time internationally now, because the Eurasian Federation leadership also got hit and the Eurasian Federation, while not necessarily Blue Cosmos sympathizers like the Atlantic Federation, was very staunchly anti-PLANT, which I think would’ve caused some problems for Cagalli, especially post Seed Destiny with Lacus joining her for that broadcast.

I actually think Orb probably has fairly decent diplomatic relations with PLANT (I think Chairman Lament mostly cut off that call after everything went south in Eldore because of the whole nuke situation), especially since Lacus is COMPASS’s inaugural president, plus the time both Dearka and Waltfeld (I’m not sure if he’s in Orb or PLANT as of Seed Freedom since his silent cameo has him helping to stop the coup in PLANT in Seed Freedom) spent there. And we have a very prominent all-Coordinator team with the Yamato Team - truth be told I actually wonder how much the Earth Alliance invested into COMPASS because everything we see on screen is either contributed by Orb (Archangel, Murrue and crew, Kira, Mu, and the Murasame Kais), PLANT/ZAFT (Millenium, Konoe and crew, Heinlein, Shinn, Lunamaria, Agnes, Gelgoog, and Gyan), or arguably both (namely, Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice). Unless I missed a minor crew member along the way. Which is possible.

Also pure speculation on my part on this - but the fact Seed Freedom has Athrun going into intelligence with Terminal (which we first see as having a presence in the PLANTS) from the Orb side and Yzak and Dearka going into intelligence from the PLANT side can’t be a coincidence. I want to think the three of them decided on it together because being in intelligence/covert ops gives them the chance to work together without having to force anyone to change their current loyalties - I don’t think Athrun can be truly loyal to anyone except Cagalli after Seed Destiny, and Yzak was always loyal to PLANT, and if Dearka hadn’t been captured and made to realize how extreme PLANT had become under Patrick Zala he wouldn’t have switched sides to Orb/Three Ships Alliance during Seed either. Which also indirectly feeds into Orb and PLANT having better political relations than Orb and Earth Alliance.

Which brings me to my final point - I would be very surprised if Orb isn’t the primary target for the antagonists in a Seed Freedom sequel. At this point Orb’s capable of doing too much with the limited resources it has as a small nation with too much military strength at its command. And there is room for a sequel (setting-wise) because while Earth Alliance took another major hit with during the Foundation Conflict, the ideologies that led to the First and Second Earth Alliance-PLANT wars still exist - even if Blue Cosmos lost another leader, even if the believers of Coordinator Supremacy lost another leader (in Jagannath) those ideologies still fundamentally exist. All the Foundation Conflict did was serve to take down the military leadership of those ideologies - even if the public on both sides see those views negatively it doesn’t make them go away.

#the thing that irritates my soul the most is hellers making cas the bad guy for dying#'cas left dean a broken man so many times' - becky he was killed.

@shedontlovehuhself tags on this post made me think, Dean's grief is used as a big proof of his love for Castiel, which is intresting beacuse for a man who breaks after Castiel's death he doesn't doesn't care enough to keep Cas alive or you know about Cas dying.

I'll start with season 8, I have examples before that but I don't want to make this long. Dean changes his memories to make it look like Cas couldn't come out of the portal, and then straight up lies that Cas is dead, which even based on his changed memories isn't given. Then when Castiel coes back he is constantly suspisious, When Castiel confesses to be sucidal Dean does nothing.

Later when Cas says he is likely to be killed after closing the gates of Heaven behind him, Dean again does nothing. I mean the "I Need You" is considered a love confession and yet Dean was ready to let the person he love walk to his death just like that.

In seaon 9, He throws Cas put of the bunker without a second thought, Castiel is dying for like half of season 9 and half of seaon 10 but Dean doesn't even acknowledge it, even though he knew exctlt what was happening to Cas.

And like the only time you can argure that Dean was broken over Castiel is early seaon 13, when Castiel's death was literally their fault. And he did nothing to bring Cas back, like that's what 4 time cas died? And yet Dean prefers performing his grief over IDK thinking Cas would could come back again or looking for a way to do that

A BIG part of fandom also considers the confiessing a crime against Dean, where Cas dumped this big reveal on poor ol' Dean. While Dean himself was "Castiel who???"

i am a blackbeard stan and a gentlebeard shipper until i die but i don't dislike izzy (he is growing on me and i 100% support his redepmtation arc in season 2 if there is one - which i suspect there will be!!)

i don't however ship izzy and ed because for me, it's pretty clear where things stand.

a perfect example of the 'in another life' troupe. they both loved each other in different ways. ed loved him like a brother and izzy loved him, well, isn't it obvious?

and that's why i'm beginning to like him a lot because ultimately, i can relate and i'm sure many other queer people can. loving your best friend, the one you've always stood by and watching as they fall in love with someone else. it's an experience a lot of queer people go through and although, no, this does not excuse izzy's actions, it sure as hell puts them into a different perspective.

Astrid paces the room while Eadwulf works. He sneaks glances in her direction. Her mouth is tight, lips pushed forward as if in a pout. Her gaze burns hot enough to light fires. The golds of her hair are alight with the dying sun, and he wants to commit the image to memory.

“Turn [the new assignment] down,” she announces, “you will tell Trent you cannot do this.”

Eadwulf drops his shirt, “and disobey?”

“They are calling the ‘ambassadors’ sacrifices,” Astrid draws out the word, “and you are a vital hand to the Empire! It is not disobedience to refuse to walk into obvious death!”

Eadwulf picks up his dropped shirt. He twists it in his hands. The king needs to send someone qualified at extracting information, who can also place themselves in a position to strike their enemies, with no fear of death. Volstrucker were made for this, or so Trent had explained to him.

Trent also told Eadwulf he was expendable, and a disappointment, following his return two weeks ago. He was foolish to have been caught. He let his fellow Volstrucker get captured. If she hasn’t been executed yet, she will be soon.

“I can tell them I am expecting, and you are the father,” Astrid tries.

“And what happens when you are not?”

“We… we could change that,” Astrid offers.

Eadwulf hears stitches pop as he twists the shirt tightly in his hands. He swallows tightly, around his heart in his throat. A dream bubbles up, well worn and ragged at the edges from years of use and being shoved into the small recesses of his mind. A dream of a small home, in a city away from here. Of their children, and the quiet nights they could have.

How many times has he described it to her in the quiet space between their pillows.

“Neither of us would be good parents,” Eadwulf decides to say.

“We won’t keep it,” Astrid shrugs, “but it’s a good reason to keep you here.”

“A good reason to get us both killed,” Eadwulf reminds her.

She goes quiet, continuing to think. The fact that she doesn’t have more plans to offer means she can see how tightly he’s trapped.

“I don’t think you can stop this,” Eadwulf offers her, an easy way out.

“I have to try!” she shouts.

Like a douse of cold water, the spell effect ends. Eadwulf’s senses return to him. He glances at the would-be assassin who has stepped up beside him. Her nose is bleeding, and she draws up a silk scarf around her face like a veil to hide it. Her hair curls around her face with sweat. She managed to resist Fjord’s compulsion, but barely.

Bren mentioned Fjord’s charm, and that it had appeared to be amplified. Eadwulf has never felt a charm so powerful before. Had Fjord directed it specifically at him, he’s not sure he could have sidestepped it as he did.

Despite the heat of the day, he is chilled to his core.

“See?” Fjord turns to Vandran, “you worried for nothing.”

There’s something on his throat, that Eadwulf can barely make out between the high collar of his coat, and the neckline of his leather armor. A tattoo, Eadwulf realizes, of a great serpent. Multiple yellow eyes stand out in the midday sun.

As Eadwulf stares, some of the eyes close, and others open. The tattoo continues a lazy motion across Fjord’s skin, diving under his armor.

“My name is Fjord, I’ll be your Captain for this duration of your trip,” Fjord turns back to speak to them.

A splash behind the [group of Ambassadors], as the body is tossed overboard.

Fjord stalks the length of the group again, hands clasped behind his back, “so long as you are on my ship, you will answer to me. And I answer to the Great Leviathan. He is happy to welcome you to his home. I encourage you to be gracious guests, and on your best—”

Like a viper, the woman beside Eadwulf leaps at Fjord. Her dagger flashes in the sunlight.

Eadwulf strikes on instinct, knocking her wrist up and off-target. He kicks out, forcing her knee to bend. She loses her stance, falls, and by then he’s twisting her arm behind her back to leverage it so he can dislocate her shoulder in an instant. Her dagger clatters to the ground.

He looks to Fjord for confirmation before he realizes what he’s done.

The compulsion was lingering at the edges of his mind. Eadwulf is trained to protect his Master from any threats. He disarmed the threat, and is awaiting further instruction.

Fjord seems just as stunned as he is.
