before dating:
i can imagine him being a little skeptical of you, but so intrigued!
he’d definitely want to see how far your strength could go. so, bakugou would subtly challenge you during training sessions, pushing you to see your true capabilities.
he’d nevee admit it but he looks up to you in a way. you don’t boast and scream about your strength like he does - that makes him respect you. he would start to see your quiet nature as a sign of focus and determination rather than a sign of weakness.
he’s so competitive… it’s honestly a little scary. before you two were even close to being friends or anything more, he’d definitely get a competitive drive when it comes to you.
this idiot would definitely think he’s competing with you 24/7 even though you remind him you are not. he thinks doing this will make you become more outgoing and competitive.
“HA! i finished my bowl of ramen before you, loser, i won!”
“we were competing over that?” i’d be confused if i were you too… he’s a little slow but he’s got the spirit!
dating him:
once you two start dating, bakugou becomes fiercely protective of you, admiring your strength and determination even more. he thinks his role in the relationship is to protect you from anything that might make you lose your strength!
he’s so loud (we know that obviously) but with you, he’s loud in a supportive way. he’s now boasting about you and your strength instead of his own!
he encourages you to continue improving and growing, offering both praise and constructive criticism. even if you don’t need it, he’ll keep doing it anyway.
bakugo has never felt like he had a opponent that could really give him a run for his money, until you two train together.
training with him would be so so sweet. if he hit you too hard, he’d immediately worried if you didn’t tell him you were alright. (he won’t outwardly admit he’s worried about you but you know deep down he is!)
“are you bleeding? you shithead! i’m not worried... are youbleedingthoughbecauseifyouarethat’snotgood-”
“fuck, did i burn you? don’t start. i’m not worried about you at all, tch!” he says this as the tip of his ears are burning from lying…
he’d still work hard while training with you but still making sure he isn’t doing too much during simple sparring matches. he likes to learn from your strengths and weaknesses!
everyday is a day where you two grow together and bakugou is proud of you for simple improvements in your strength (you’re stronger than him lol and he knows you could take him down in a second!)
IZUKU MIDORIYA —
before dating:
Izuku notices your quiet demeanor but senses a strong presence and capability within you. he’d write about your strength and weaknesses in his hero notebook. he’d ask you so much questions (totally not to get to know you better… totally…)
“sorry- i’m not trying to be a bother but can you tell me more about your quirk! it’s so cool and you’re so strong!” he blushes immediately after rambling about how you’re so talented and your strength is admirable. meanwhile, your twirling your hair over the fact he thinks your strong!
one time, you caught him drawing out your hero suit and make little point notes about it. you went to your dorm and giggled about it for the rest of the day. it literally felt like a award to be in his hero notebook!
we all know izuku is his classmates biggest supporter, he is always wanting his classmates to grow alongside him and is pushing everyone to become the best hero they can be!
with you, he offers encouragement and support to you, believing in your potential and wanting you to believe in yourself as well.
because of your quiet nature, izuku might try and show his admiration for you in anyway he can. he admires your quiet determination, seeing it as a reflection of your inner strength and resolve.
basically, he’s your #1 fan!
you two initially work well together as teammates, with Izuku valuing your contributions and skills.
once you two start dating, it’s a whole different story!
dating him:
your relationship deepens Izuku’s admiration for your quiet strength, appreciating how you compliment each other. (everyone is class 1-A is still shocked at how well you two compliment each other, even before you guys were dating!)
izuku becomes a source of emotional support for you, understanding your quiet nature and providing comfort when needed. he never tries to push you outside of your comfort zone, enjoying your quiet times when his day has been stressful and filled with loud classmates.

“you know what happens if you extort your powers too much.” she hastily reminded you. from her tone, you knew that she hesitated to remind you of that incident, and it was shaky leaving from her mouth.
“that was one time.” you sighed heavily.
by now, your existing abilities become stronger as you grow older. you managed to control your current powers, and clarisse encouraged you to discover your hidden powers.

however it’s not encouraged to extort your powers to full extent, liable enough to render you unconscious for weeks, not even days. as a result of your persistent stubbornness, unfortunately, it happened to you and clarisse was an emotional wreck without your comforting presence beside her.
she became more easily irritated and annoyed by anyone who even dared to look her way, almost threatening to kick their ass, surprisingly she’d just rough them up a bit, and stormed off afterward. spending hours at the sparring center, clarisse released all of her anger onto the sparring dummies, using her trust-worthy spear and being completely ruthless with it, rage consuming both her stability and mentality. everyone stayed out of clarisse’s way for their own safety.
all those times you kept her grounded felt like a big waste to her right now. she felt loved, and truly loved by someone blessed to cherish her until your last breath gave out. all of a sudden, you were harshly ripped away from her, without any type of warning, permanently leaving an invisible scar on her heart.
despite being stuck in a temporarily induced coma, clarisse still had a guilty conscience of unawareness, possibly having a chance to rescue you and prevent this from occurring. in other words, she wished that you didn’t intentionally overwork your powers to the core, but you did, and now you’re currently suffering the consequences of it.

so, when i die, which i must do
for the two weeks, you were unconscious, clarisse visited you, kept quiet most of the time, muttered small incoherent words, barely even sentences. she held your hands tightly, they were lukewarm, temporarily not providing the warmth they usually do. she missed everything about you, your presence, your touch, and your love.
and when she’s staring at your face, a small smile litters her face, reminiscing on your wholesome shared memories. sadly, all of the radiation that your face once held was drained and a firm line took its place.
despite the large pit of despair in her stomach, clarisse felt you slipping away from reality with every passing day. your girlfriend was persistent, knowing that you can handle yourself, and often proud of your capability in those sorts of skills.
she couldn’t fathom what it was even like for you to endure the 2-week coma, forced into a dream-like state, hearing and sensing everything going on around you but unable to respond. it must have been torture for you, stuck with your thoughts endlessly on repeat, with no interruption at all. just you and your thoughts there all alone. nothing but you and your thoughts.
she prayed that you would somehow non-verbally assure her, confirming your well-being, not like that would have made a difference regardless, but still, your reassuring words would’ve lessened her worries, even if it was for such a short amount of time.
but the ares girl remained strong, at least for the both of you. clarisse mentally promised for her own sake, desperately clutching onto the small yet meaningful words of encouragement.

with a devastated sigh, she’d depart with a forehead kiss before heading to her cabin for some rest, sometimes she’d forget to eat and one of her siblings had to remind her. at this point, it was a common routine for clarisse; wake up, teleport to visit you, complete her daily tasks, and train. and when she’s finished her task of the day, best believe that she’s with you, nursing you back to consciousness.
“yeah, and we both know how that ended!”
“clarisse…”
“no, please let me finish.” she shushed you with a shake of her head, “and i hope it doesn’t happen again, it doesn’t need to happen again!” clarisse whisper-yelled at you, “i almost lost you, and i refused to experience that wretched feeling again. you were unconscious for almost two weeks and we weren’t even in the same place. your mom teleported me to you almost every day since you were in that coma. i refuse to experience that again because i love you and seeing you there made me feel useless for once in my life.” her tone became shaky yet she proceeded on, wanting you to understand, needing you to understand what it was like for her, witnessing you in that comatose state. “i couldn’t stand the thought of you dying, of you leaving me here all alone. you only truly understand me, you love me despite all of my flaws, rather accepting them than ignoring them…nobody else but you…i didn’t think i could love anyone as much as i love you. and that terrified me before but now it doesn’t anymore, knowing you wouldn’t do anything to hurt me. sometimes i wonder if i’m ever worth loving…” a sob escapes her, continued by many heartbreaking sobs. that gut-wrenching feeling in your heart returned, growing larger when clarisse attempted to restrict any more sobs, terribly failing, allowing her emotions to run wild for once.
it’ll probably be the only time she can freely express her emotions without feeling judged within your presence. this was one of the many reasons why clarisse fell in love with you, your compassionate soul, a trait she strongly lacked but adored from you.
she loved that you made her feel comfortable, enough to express her emotions without having to look over her shoulder.

your girlfriend didn’t realize the tears freely falling down her face until you wiped the tears away from her eyes. clarisse seems betrayed by her own emotions once she realizes that she’s crying, expressing her vulnerability towards you. the curly-haired girl began to stammer out some words, attempting to defend herself but you kissed her temple and pulled her in for a hug. going off on instinct, she buried her head into your neck, harboring her labored breaths as she tightened her grip on you as if she was too scared to let go and lose you all over again.
“never again…never again…” clarisse mutters, repeating it like a mantra. “i don’t wanna lose you ever again…”
catching on to her rapid muttering, you cupped her face, steadying to your face level.
“i won’t leave you again, i promise babe,” you reassure her. your eyes connect easily, gazing into her glossy eyes.
clarisse looks up at you, a swirl of emotions flowing across her eyes. you pout at your girlfriend, reaching out a hand to gently touch her face, watching her melt by the simple touch.
her glistening eyes made you swoon at her gentleness and vulnerability, “you promise?” her voice was low, similar to a whimper of pain.

“i promise,” you clarify, tucking a loose curl behind her ear. “do you wanna stay here for a while, with just me?”
hiding her face back into your shirt, she nodded against the fabric, tightening her grip on you whenever you slightly shuffled in her embrace. your touch was required for her peace, and clarisse made sure that you weren’t escaping from her grasp. too much time was wasted, and clarisse needed to make up for lost time.
at times, clarisse felt extremely weak, exhausted, and defenseless which according to her father, any sign of vulnerability is also perceived as useless in his eyes. ares engraved that motto within his daughter, and you hated that it stuck with her that much! wanting to please her dad, her personality changed over time, and the lingering thought of displaying an ounce of vulnerability vanished. no surprise that you rekindled that thought during your relationship when she started opening up to you.
every time clarisse received surprise visits from her dad, you were always there, listening about him degrading her great abilities because of her gender. all those nights of her crying on your shoulder, wondering why she couldn’t be good enough for her father. from that moment, your hatred for your girlfriend’s father fueled with each passing day.
you taught her that being vulnerable wasn’t weak and that it was actually strong. to be honest, clarisse was skeptical because her girlfriend said the opposite of what she learned from her father. eventually, she got used to the idea, accepting only being vulnerable around you. that was good enough for her so it was good enough for you.
so, when it comes to be my turn

clarisse laid on top of you, her head snuggled softly against your breasts with her arms around your waist. one of your hands held onto her head, scratching on her head softly as the other drew imaginary stars on her lower back.
“my beautiful beautiful, brave girl…” you cooed as you heard tiny sniffles from her, “you certainly are worth loving and you’re my entire world.

“am i?” her lower lip trembles as she innocently stares up at you.
“you are my entire world,” you gently kiss her forehead as she places her head down onto your chest.
“you’re my whole world too,” she murmurs against your chest, either it was her sweet tone or that you were naturally ticklish which made you laugh wholeheartedly. clarisse’s face lights up, feeling the rumble from your chest as a smile erupts on her lips.
“nothing in the world belongs to me...” you sing softly into her ears, massaging her head, soothing her into a peaceful sleep alongside your peaceful embrace. “but my love mine, all mine...”
you lullabied her to sleep with your gentle singing, finally feeling at ease when you heard the light snores, smiling fondly at her. gods, clarisse was adorable. too adorable to disrupt her out of her sleep, resting comfortably on you, partially skin-to-skin.
“good night, my love.” you kissed her forehead, glimpsing at her small smile from the loving touch. turning off the lamp before refocusing onto clarisse, wrapping your arms around her waist and her head gently nuzzling into your neck, requiring very much close contact. soon enough, you drifted into sleep just as your beloved girlfriend did a few minutes ago, both content in each other’s arms, wishing to remain like that forever.

Two years had changed everything.
Zoro was the first to arrive at the Sabaody Archipelago. Perona had eyed Zoro as he anxiously sharpened his swords the whole trek there. She smiled to herself, she knew he was becoming more excited the closer he got to the meeting point in Sabaody. The closer to his goal he got, the more antsy he became.
Zoro knew Luffy’s decision had been for the best, and because of it he was able to hone his skills well beyond what they had been two years prior. His fingers itched for an opportunity to show off his new skills, to show the crew how much he had been training. He couldn't help but wonder how you had fared during your two years. There was no doubt in his mind you had gotten stronger as well.
When you’d first joined the Strawhats, you and Zoro immediately clicked. The two of you worked seamlessly together as you advanced through the Grand Line towards Luffy’s dream. You drank, you sparred, and you laughed together as if you were two sides of the same coin. But the way the two of you fought alongside each other was what truly connected you. Zoro’s swordsmanship was harsh and powerful, he cut down enemy after enemy with his offensive techniques. You, on the other hand, specialized in defense and used your opponent’s own strength against them. Your styles complemented each other perfectly and anytime you fought together it was a deadly pairing, a true sight to behold.
However, what was supposed to be a joyous reunion quickly turned into a game of cat and mouse as the crew narrowly made it off Seabody.
You’d admit that you were disappointed to learn that Zoro had been first only to wander off out of boredom. Typical, you thought. If he had just waited a little longer he would have seen you arrive second and the two of you might have had some time to talk. You were so excited to tell him all about your two years of training. Your mind often wandered to the rest of the crew. You wondered where they were and how they were growing.
You took a moment to reflect on your dismay for not being able to speak with Zoro. Why did it bother you so much? Was it because you wanted to tell him that he had often occupied your thoughts over the last couple years? That when you were at your lowest, the only thing that had gotten you through was the thought of making him proud to fight alongside you? You shook the thoughts from your head. What did you even hope to gain from confessing this to him?
For as long as you’d known him, Zoro only had one goal, one ambition, and it was to become the World’s Greatest Swordsman. His loyalty to Luffy knew no bounds as he had no doubt that their captain would lead them to their dreams. So, you pushed back your selfish desires. You both trained hard for the better of the crew, so expecting anything more would be foolish.
There was no denying that the two of you had gotten exponentially stronger. With a small slash of his sword Zoro could now take out dozens of enemies, and your deflection and offensive fighting had become second nature, easily beating opponents ten times your size.
Unfortunately, there was no time to celebrate your new strengths before a glaring issue arose during your first fight together on Fishman Island. The two of you had never been so out of sync.
How did two years change both of you so drastically?
You both cursed out loud, frustrated as you ebbed and flowed to completely different rhythms. You would reach out to strike an enemy, only to almost be impaled by Zoro’s blade. Zoro would prepare to strike, only to be thrown off balance by an enemy body that you flung in his direction. Luffy laughed as he watched the two of you struggle, which only added to your irritation.
By the time the battle was over you were disheartened to say the least. Zoro couldn’t even look at you, and you couldn’t find the words to say to him either. Should you apologize? You didn’t think you had done anything wrong, he had been in your way too. The more you thought about it the more annoyed you became. Your mind raced in circles about the ridiculous situation. You came back to reality as you heard a voice calling out to you - Sanji.
You relaxed your furrowed brows and the unconscious frown on your face faded away. The curly-browed chef sauntered towards you with a glass delicately balanced on a tray. “Oh Y/N-love, please enjoy this dessert I’ve made for you. I’ve poured all my love into it. Only the best for my fighting beauty.”
You looked up to see a colorful, intricately decorated cup of chocolate mousse. You instantly lit up. Sanji knew it was one of your favorite desserts. You quickly scooped a spoonful into your mouth and closed your eyes as you savored the rich flavor. “Sanji, you don’t know how much I missed your cooking.” You took another bite and smiled widely, looking up at him. “If I wasn’t in such bliss I would get up and kiss you, I really would.”
Sanji turned to you with hearts in his eyes and shot backward as streams of blood rocketed out of his nose. You heard Chopper yell out, “He’s relapsed again! Y/N you can’t do that, he’s in recovery!”
You laughed as you watched Chopper fret over the lovestruck man. You always got a kick out of teasing him. Your eyes flickered up to the kitchen door and you watched Zoro push it open, exiting with a dramatic thunk.

Zoro walked out in a worse mood than before. He knew he had messed up during that battle, both of you had made mistakes. He had almost hurt you on numerous occasions and that had completely thrown him off his game. He went over to the ship railing and stared out. It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
He had been avoiding you, he didn’t know what else to do. Ever since he saw you again he knew he needed to keep his distance.
You had come back different. Your hair was different, your clothes were different, your body was different, and you were shitload stronger. But your voice? It was exactly the same. God…he hadn’t realized how much he had missed the sound of your voice. And your eyes? He had to look away every time you turned in his direction, he couldn’t stand it. Beautiful. He had always known this. He knew he didn’t know a lot about beauty and pretty things, but there was no denying it anymore. You were beautiful to him.

Robin hummed as she chewed her last bite, and shared a knowing look with Franky, who stifled a laugh. “Y/N and Zoro were sparring in the crows nest. They were finally getting back in sync so it's better we don't bother them. I'll be sure to save their portions.” Robin smiled innocently.

Wolf sebek is so cute and obvious 😭 I know Lilia is doing whatever he can to push them together and getting Silver involved
Maybe you lived close to Lilia’s cottage and so you and Silver spent a lot of time together growing up. Maybe Silver’s a bunny like you, or maybe he’s also a wolf…… Lilia who thought Silver was just a puppy of some breed and instead he grew into a strong wolf!!! So he’s always sending Silver to look after you or accompany you if you’re going somewhere alone. Sometimes you even joined the both of them on their trips into town.
Maybe Lilia offered to train you in self-defense and that’s how you were introduced to Sebek, as one of his training partners. Imagine how confident Sebek is when he sees this small bunny, only to promptly eat his words when you manage to beat him in the sparring match. T_T growing up alongside them and Sebek is constantly trying to spar with you to prove that he’s made progress and won’t lose to a mere bunny!!! >:( he’s stronger than that. Just you wait, rabbit!! Don’t doubt his capabilities just because he’s yet to beat you!
But also,,, silly puppy love from Sebek. Sebek who shoves a wildflower he picked specially for you at your chest, his face burning up, and it makes Lilia chuckle to see little Sebek’s attempts at trying to court you. Promising your best friends Silver and Sebek that when you grow up and they become royal guards for Malleus you’ll get married and stay together forever. Now you’re older and you’ve forgotten all about that childish promise, but Sebek hasn’t and neither has Silver. :)
A rivalry perhaps……. a rivalry that’s mostly one-sided because Silver isn’t competing, but Sebek thinks he is and so occasionally Silver will humor him hehe. Imagine the two of them helping you through your heat because they’re the only ones you trust to do so… Silver who is always willing to help you, a true sweetheart, and Sebek who begrudgingly agrees because he isn’t going to let that Silver get in the way. He can help just as good, if not better, than he can!! Hmph!!!!! 😤

🌸Previously we focused a lot on Mitsuri! Reader’s background, now, I want to show her relationship to Gen in particular after becoming a platoon leader and drop some interactions with Kikoru!

Well into your time in the First Division, you’ve established a rather interesting sense of partnership with Narumi Gen.
At first, the two of you were still quite stiff, what with how it seemed like you and Narumi were just too different in terms of personality.
One was a lousy trash man–brash, childish and stuck to his handheld when he wasn’t on the field, and while the other was a happy go lucky, passionate girl who grew to be well loved for her demeanor, you were quite shy when it came to approaching him. After all, he IS your captain and the man on top of the Defense Force. You had a great deal of respect for him even before you joined arms. In fact, striving to be worthy to stand with him–to be stronger, was the collective ambition of every officer there.
After finally earning his acknowledgement, you ended up spending more and more time with him. Since you caught his eye with your strength. then you’ll have to keep honing it if you were to prove your existence. So you trained and trained, kept your limbs stretched, made sure your flexibility and agility always stayed fresh in your blood. Turn it into second nature.
And whenever the captain threw his hand in and actually showed up for a couple of rounds to spar you, you gave it your all. It became clear that he in particular took part in stoking your flames with his principle. To show results.
With that in mind, you’ve been building blocks since the very beginning, he notes one day, rummaging through your files and every assessment result.
Your shooting range assessments during your time as a rookie. Physical check ups. Combat training. Laps. They were above average–it’s what landed you in the First Division in the first place.
But what made you shine was your insane physical prowess, and how superhuman you were with transferring your power to the weapon you held.
Your terrain practice and obstacle shooting course held the highest rookie records. Your field reports never lied, there was even drone footage. Then there was the daikaiju incident, where you wielded an entire machine gun and amassed such a formidable blast upon first use, the numbers were too overwhelming for a rookie.
He remembers another report he got after your health assessment. They had studied the composition of your muscles, your combat levels, and more. Gotten real up and personal with you, so much so that you noted the experience while looking away.
He’ll never forget Isao’s words after Hasegawa recounted their discoveries in his office. Your extreme constitution, your rapidly increasing combat power, your leap in abilities as soon as you donned on your suit. Your power.
“Another prodigy right after Ashiro Mina.” Narumi paused as Isao turned to face the both them. “The next piece of the puzzle for the Defense Force.”
If Mina was the missing link to fight daikaiju–humanity’s biggest threat at the time, then you were second just to her to complete the frontlines. Another sleeping tiger.
Isao himself gave him and Hasegawa an order. One that drove home the responsibility he had as your captain now. “Hone her strength. A girl with her potential belongs in our main defenses.”
He made you sound all cool and all, but as soon as Narumi made his way to the training hall, he was flabbergasted as you held a comically long photostrip filled with the pictures of the cats you had back at home, gushing over them with several of your platoon members.
“I love Nekotarou, General Whiskers the 2nd, and Meowy Antoinette soooo much!” Were those the names of your cats? He wonders. “I’m going to spend my life savings on building a shrine in their image near Yokohama Station.“ Impossible.
Hearing that gave Narumi whiplash. Right, the daikaiju prodigy that even Mr. Isao acknowledged…
So there you were one day, nervously looking down at a serious private meeting with your Captain and Vice Captain. “You know, Mr. Isao went over some of your assessments some time ago.” Your heart immediately dropped, your shocked expression instantly showing on your face.
“DIRECTOR GENERAL SHINOMIYA?!?!?!?!” Narumi watched as you, noting how you were akin to watching a hamster get scared by loud noise.
You quickly regain your composure (though you still looked comedically nervous in Narumi’s peering eyes) as he read out your achievements. You’ve already proved yourself well, with a high performance level that was brimming with potential.
But most notably, it was your high physical prowess and how superhuman you were with transferring your power to the weapon you held. That was what made you a force to be reckoned with,
“So, with that in mind–” Hasegawa stood up, followed by Narumi. “As a newly appointed platoon leader with one of the strongest, most unique combat power readings we’ve had in the force, we will start work on your special weapon.”
“...” You stare at the two of them. Narumi stares back. Hasegawa paces his sight between the two of you. Then, the words processed in your head, and you let out the biggest beamful smile they’ve set their eyes on. “THANK–THANK YOU SO MUCH!” you stifled a few tears, following them like a duckling to meet with Izumo Tech.
And after a long testing period, you were bestowed with what the people at the weaponries department could only describe as a weapon as unique as its user. Your whip-sword.
With how unique your weapon was, it was imperative for you to train twice as hard–learning the ropes and making sure your new fighting style was worth all the effort. Your pride as an officer–a bearer of a special weapon relied on this. That was when Narumi rolled in, and when he wanted to test your strength himself, you eagerly accepted. Unexpectedly, it turned into a new tradition between the two of you.
Around this time was the turning point of how you slowly broke out of just simple subordination to him, and towards a strange yet delightful symbiotic relationship, one where you didn’t just acknowledge each other’s strengths, but learned more about the person behind them. He started talking to you more once you asked him excitedly about what games he plays, and he started to eat the meals you brought.
Truth to be told, your journey only became more arduous then. You were strong, sure, but you still couldn’t hold a candle to Narumi. And it only spurred you on further.
A particularly remarkable moment between the two of you was the first time you really voiced your compliments to him outloud (to Hasegawa’s dismay…)
It was when he beat you in hand to hand combat one day, and perhaps something felt different with how you were pushing your blood circulation and heart beat to the limit, but it was super clear that he really went all out that day. And he was admirable. “You’re amazing, Captain!”
“Of course,” he was to reply to you instinctively, but the sheer look of admiration you had sprawled on your face despite getting floored took him by surprise. You were always holding back a little around him–though he knew from word of mouth that you really were a very excitable person–so to see this other side of you was still pretty new for him. He just soaks in your words as you continue.
“Your form is amazing, how long did it take you to perfect it?” “I need to up my precision too. Yours is so remarkable.” “Please let me spar with you more!”
Perhaps you let your mouth run a little too loose by then. “I hope to one day earn my place next to you, Narumi–” You stop. Narumi stops. Then, your hands fly to your mouth as you let out a choked sound of what seemed to be your life regrets. “--I’m sorry!!!” Your forehead had already hit the floor multiple times before he registered your apology, seeing you fret over thinking that you overstepped a line.
But things are okay. You’re good friends now. He’s confident with that. He’s seen all 2760 of the pictures in your “my cats❤️❤️” album on your phone. He has all your favorite foods memorized. He knows the best ways to bait you.
He also had a huge ego boost when you showed up one day with the ends of your hair dyed a new color, following the long tradition of the 1st Division platoon leaders.
Has been scolded once or twice by Hasegawa for making you stay up late helping him farm dungeons on his BS5. When Narumi rebutted that he was your captain and that this was “an important mission”, Hasegawa promptly shot him down by stating that it was abuse of power.
He was actually the first person you showcased your new fighting style with your whip-sword to. Still couldn’t believe that you actually named it after your cats.
When the time came for you to use your new weapon on the field for the first time, you felt a bit more pressured than you should. Despite the fruitful results from in house training, the field is a very different environment, and you couldn’t afford to mess up. This test drive meant a lot–developing your weapon probably took a fortune–and you didn’t want to disappoint Narumi. He spent so much time with you. For you.
You move towards the approaching Yoju with total concentration, launching yourself in the air. “MTS-1437 field test commenced. Initiate subjugation,” Kurusu announced through the comms whilst giving you clearance, the operations room watching expectantly.
To say it was a success was an understatement. Not when the entire operation room seemed to look at your floating figure in awe, your sword gracefully twirling around your body. You looked as light as the wind, so graceful and elegant as you zeroed in on the yoju, before unleashing an onslaught of the techniques you spent so much practice on. Seeing you with your sword dance didn’t just fit your entire being amazingly – It felt so right.
Inside of him, Narumi felt a sense of achievement, watching you from the operations room as well.
“...Did she just say Catlove Shower?” He tensed, coughing a bit.
His memories bring him back to the specialized training room the both of you frequented, when you had eagerly just showed him your techniques. He remembers how gleefully you smiled, how your eyes turned into half moons from how elated you were after he gave you his approval. It was just a “good job” he thought, but it must have meant the world for you. Your place in the force must have meant the world for you. Something in his heart started to tug.
Before he realized it himself, a snide remark came out of his throat. “She was really happy with the names she thought up–so shut it.” Everyone near his vicinity tensed, looking at him in shock. No one expected him to comment that, not even Hasegawa.
As mentioned in the previous headcanons, you and Narumi have grown accustomed to each other’s fighting style. As you also worked with the combo of gunmanship to melee–though not exactly similar, you had turned to him for a lot of pointers. Not only that, but the joint weapon training you underwent with him contributed a lot to both of your understandings of how the other fought. So, it was no surprise that your battle sense became more reminiscent of his.
Narumi only let you join his side as soon as he knew he didn’t have to worry about you. As much as he valued you as a person and the friendship you had, he knew that the laws of the battlefield were strict. He couldn’t trust himself if he couldn’t trust you to handle your own. Especially when the 1st Division handled the toughest of kaijus.
His tough love and constant, merciless training made you stronger. And truthfully, seeing you advancing so rapidly in his eyes scared him a bit (was this what Isao felt?). So he was immensely tough on you. You had to be strong.
But when it came to Narumi and your beloved 1st Division officers, you quickly reminded them of the you behind your strength. The (Y/N) that smiled and earned herself the title of the Pillar of Love, the pink creature that made up the most unlikely duo on planet Earth with Narumi Gen.
It’s the mutual understanding and respect you have with each other that brought your bond both in and out of the battlefield this far.
So when Kikoru rolled in, she couldn’t help but admire you. At the time of her transfer, you were a name she’s heard whispers about. The 1st Division’s pillar of love. An expert heavy hitter who excels in mid ranged combat. Exactly someone she could confide in in improving her techniques with the axe.
And Gen used this to his advantage.
“Oi, Narumi.” He winces in pain as you whack the top of his head in place of Hasegawa, letting out a string of complaints. “As much as I love Kikoru-chan, I don’t think General Shinomiya would appreciate it if you threw all the training to me.”
“I told you, it’s our dual responsibility,” he says in between button mashing his console, “I gave you the order to help teach her the ropes. You have a similar combat style with hers.”
“I trained with you, and you’re training with her. Which means I’m training with–” cutting off his speech, you brazenly pick up his lawn chair, balancing the captain as you carried the seat to the training grounds. You made it look so easy.
“My apologies, captain!” Kikoru watches in stunned silence as you haul him over to where the two of you were previously sparring, dropping him on the ground gently whilst listening to his childish rebuttals.
The blonde only watched as Narumi rose from his seat and yelled out more curses in an annoyed frenzy, now chasing you in circles as you held his handheld controller. You were expertly dodging him too, maneuvering the strikes he made with his hands and feet. Yet it despite the showcase of skill, it all felt too goofy to be real.
Was that… really the strongest kaiju combatant in Japan and the famed love pillar?
“GIVE THAT BACK!” Narumi yells, reenacting a forward strike so cleanly, it had Isao written all over it. He narrowly misses your body mid jump.
“MY APOLOGIES!” Your apologetic tone could not be more contrasting than your actions as your legs landed on his head, pummeling Narumi to the ground for your landing.
At this point, even Kafka was watching with his jaw on the floor, Kikoru beside him watching intently. “Even in a light quarrel, those two are masters in their field! But still…” She zeroes in on the tug of war for Narumi’s console between the two of you.
…Could she really trust the two of you during her time here?

Pairing: Satoru Gojo x Reader

Summary: A romantic rivalry drives a wedge between you and Suguru

On the first day of your second year at Jujutsu High you noticed an instant change in Suguru. He had been happy until Satoru arrived, the white haired boy was late as always, but came running right away to greet everyone. He’d come up to you first, wrapping you in his long arms and telling you how he’d hoped you’d finally become half as strong as him this year. While you rolled your eyes and told him you hoped he’d become less annoying, Suguru had set his eyes to a narrow glare. He’d come to you that evening and told you he didn’t like how close you and Satoru were.
“He’s too cruel to be friends with you,” he began, “He’ll hurt your feelings and you’ll only prevent him from progressing as quickly as he could.”
The remarks were odd and hurtful. All of you were close, in fact Suguru had been your first friend at the school. Over the summer he’d been busy with familial obligations and wasn’t able to keep in contact as you, Satoru, and Shoko were. Of course you’d all grown closer over summer and you wondered if he’d become jealous or felt left behind. You tried your best to offer him some comfort, telling him that you were all still good friends and you were looking forward to catching up with him.
“It’s not about that,” he scoffed at you, “I just think you need to get over your ridiculous crush on him, and you both need to focus on sorcery.”
It was hurtful again and you chose to leave it alone after that. He was strange and aloof to you for days and at the end of the first week he requested you stop calling him Suguru and use the more formal Geto instead. You considered it the end of your friendship. You had spoken to both Shoko and Satoru about it, asking them if he’d told them about his sudden disdain for you. Satoru had gotten upset and called him a jerk before going to talk to him, despite your objections. It was then when Shoko revealed her theory on the matter.
“Suguru has a crush on Satoru,” she had told you in a hushed tone, “It’s obvious. He already knows you liked him so you know, your romantic rivals.”
Your cheeks had flushed, “Why wouldn’t you just talk to me then? I-I don’t want to not be friends just because we like the same guy.”
She shrugged in response and you left the conversation at that. You never brought it up to Suguru, hoping that it would blow over in due time. School brought a more normal rhythm to your lives. Suguru and Satoru were always training together, it made them closer and stronger. Shoko would work on her medical training and you were doing your best to meet the boys level. The gap between you three grew exponentially that year. You weren’t weak by any means, but they were on another level. You’d spar with them as frequently as you could, always pushing yourself to get stronger and stronger.
Satoru was helpful, he tried his best to help you perfect your use of basic sorcery techniques, which in turn helped you to refine your own technique. He often taunted you still and called you weak, but you always knew it was in jest. Suguru on the other hand was more cruel. If you were set to spar he’d show no mercy, hitting you with more powerful curses or techniques far out of your grasp. In hand to hand combat he was unrelenting too, and he seemed to relish in your constant losses. You confirmed his resentment must be jealousy as he always was harder on you after you’d spent time with Satoru alone.
After a particularly rough mission for you he’d taunted you for getting so beat up and it’d cause a fight between him and Satoru. Satoru had claimed he didn’t need to be so mean since you’d already gotten hurt. Suguru accused him of being soft on you and with pink cheeks Satoru had yelled back that he wasn’t soft on you he just cared about his friends. That had really angered Suguru, who ended up scoffing and leaving you two alone in the infirmary. Later he’d come to speak to you alone and told you that Satoru only liked you because you were dependent on him and it made him feel special. In his words Satoru cared about attention, not you, since you could never make it to their level.
For you it was the final straw, already beaten up and exhausted you’d finally snapped and yelled at him. “Shut up!” you’d cut him off mid sentence, your whole face burning as you screamed, “Just shut up okay?! I don’t care what you think Geto! I don’t care if I’m weak or pathetic or anything else because at least I’m not half as insecure as you!”
His eyes had widened before quickly turning to a glare. He had clenched his fists before leaving the room in silence. It felt good to yell back at him, but you stopped speaking entirely after that. You avoided each other and your other friends danced between the two of you. It continued like that until the spring, when the boys got assigned to some special secret mission which they’d be gone for a while working on. Suguru said nothing about it but Satoru of course had to brag about how this important mission had been entrusted to them, but especially him since he was the strongest. You’d told him you were happy for him but really you were worried.
You were scared for them both, and you were scared that you’d be left in the dust as they got assigned to harder and harder missions. That same evening you’d decided to take a walk to ease your anxiety. You paced all around the school grounds as you tried to reason with yourself. Of course you’d never grow to their strength, they were special grades after all, blessed from birth. You’d hoped to reach first grade already though, to at least be close to keeping up with them. As much as you tried not to let it get to you, you did often think about Suguru’s words, claiming you were too weak for Satoru.
You hated that some silly romantic rivalry had come between you and your friend, but you did really care about Satoru. Loved him even. He admired strength and you so badly wanted to be admired by him. Admired and loved, to have him see you in the same heavenly light you saw him. The friendship you shared was wonderful and you treasured it, but you wanted more than that. You hoped it would fade with time but really your feelings only grew stronger. Longing glances and daydreams were the only hopes you had of furthering your relationship with the man you’d consider your closest friend.
With an unhappy pit in your stomach you finally decided to return to your room. The walk hadn’t helped much so you now hoped that sleep would wash away your unease and you’d wake up with a brighter outlook. As you entered the dorms you were shocked to find Satoru was seated in the day room, staring out the window with his head propped up on his hand. He was half asleep, droopy eyes turning to you as you entered the room.
He frowned as he spoke, “What are you doing up? It’s nearly 2.”
“I could ask you the same thing,” you cast your gaze away from him, hoping not to give up that you’d been crying just minutes earlier, “I was just on a walk, my room was getting really stuffy.”
“I couldn’t sleep,” he confessed. “Thinking about your big mission?”
He nodded as he tried to catch your flighty gaze, “You wanna come sit for a minute? Maybe you can help me get my mind off it.”
Of course you had to comply so you nodded and came to sit beside him on the couch, “I’ve never seen you nervous Satoru.”
“I’m not, just sort of ansty,” he explained with a wave of his hand. He was finally able to lock his eyes with yours and it only took him a moment to realize something was wrong, “You’re upset,” he stated it as a fact, leaving no room for you to argue, “What happened?”
“It’s not fair to use your technique on me,” you attempted to change the subject.
“I didn’t,” he’d turned to fully face you, “I don’t need to, I know how to read you without it. So what’s going on?”
“It’s nothing Satoru, don’t worry about me,” you brushed him off hoping he would just forget it, but of course he always pushed until he got his way.
“Ah, I always worry about you,” he tossed an arm over your shoulders and leaned back on the couch, “It’s my job as the strongest you know? I got to worry about the weaklings under me.”
Normally his jokes didn’t bug you and you’d jab right back at him but you were already fragile. You felt your eyes burning again and your lip started to tremble. You attempted to quickly get yourself under control but a small sniffle was enough to alert him to your state. “H-Hey! I didn’t mean to make you cry! I’m just kidding, you know?” he tried to comfort as his cheeks started turning pink.
You shook your head at him, “I-It’s not you Satoru I just…” you trailed off, “I’m tired of being weak.”
His lips tugged down to a frown as he searched for some way to comfort you. The truth was he hated to see you cry, more than anything. It made his stomach churn and filled him with anger. He’d only see you cry a few times but it was the same every time.
“You aren’t weak,” he grabbed one of your hands, “I-I mean compared to me, sure, but you’re really strong compared to most people. Plus you’re working everyday to get stronger, you don’t need to be so hard on yourself.”
“I hate that I’m weak to you!” you exclaimed suddenly as the tear grew more violent, “I don’t want you to see me as weak Satoru! That’s all I care about.”
“I-I don’t I-”
“You do! I-I want to be just as strong as you, and Suguru. I don’t want to be dependent on you! I want you to like me for more than just that…”
He tensed, the gears in his head turning before he spoke softly, “You think I only like you because you’re dependent on me?”
You sniffled again and nodded, “Yes, I mean, sometimes, no, fuck, I don’t know. I just want you to see me as an equal. I don’t want to be nobody.”
“You aren’t,” he said firmly, “If I ever don’t think we’re equal it’s because I think you’re better than me.”
You laughed bitterly, “Be serious Satoru.”
“I am! Look physically I’m stronger for sure, but you’re way nicer than me, and funnier too!” he exclaimed suddenly, “And you’re way better at claw machines! Remember you won me that big dog I wanted! I sleep with it every night!”
You laughed again, a weird sad laugh that was full of tears, “That doesn’t mean anything.”
“It means a lot to me,” he promised, “If you were a stronger sorcerer than me I’d have nothing going for me, except maybe my good looks.”
“Shut up,” the tears were beginning to melt into regular laughter at each remark.
“And I guess I’m pretty good at stopping you from crying too,” he grinned wide, “Look I get it if you’re down about not getting stronger faster, but if it helps I really don’t think of you as weak. I know you’re weaker than me, but I kind of like that because it means I can protect you, and I want to protect you, and everyone else too. It makes me really happy knowing that I can keep you safe. I mean it’s a lot of pressure sometimes but when I just think about doing all this hard stuff so you don’t have too then I’m really happy, and I don’t mind so much.”
Finally your tears had stopped, so he wiped your tear stained cheeks as you looked up at him, “I just wish I could be there with you Satoru, then I could help protect you too.”
“It wouldn’t work then though, we’d be too worried about each other,” he leaned in and pressed his lips to your forehead. It was a simple gesture, meant to be comforting and sweet. He’d never done it before though. Usually when he imagined kissing you it was on the lips, but this was nice too.
You leaned into him, burying your face in his chest, “Thank you Satoru.”
“Yeah, no problem,” he wrapped his arms around you and rested his head on top of yours.
You sat there on the small couch, holding each other until the sun came up. At that point you both scurried off to your bedrooms to try and catch a few hours of sleep while you still could. Later Satoru had to leave for his special mission and you had to return to normal classes and training.
While Satoru was gone he sent some photos at different locations and small updates, always assuring you all was well. You did the same, giving him updates on the antics at the school and sending him a few pictures you found funny, always wishing him good luck. You hoped he’d be back soon.
Unfortunately his arrival home was anything but pleasant. The school was attacked, the young star vessel was killed, and Satoru was nearly killed as well. Having just escaped death he ran after the assailant in what you could only describe as a temporary bout of psychosis. Luckily he had calmed somewhat by the time he got back, he was taken into medical care alongside a totally distraught Suguru. Shoko and you worried for both of them but in the coming weeks they seemed to return to semi-normal. Suguru still seemed off, but he’d ceased his constant teasing and you thanked the universe that the whole thing had bruised his ego enough to grant you some peace. The only other good thing to come from the event was Satoru’s new ability to use the reverse curse technique. He told you all excitedly about how this had greatly enhanced his abilities, making him even stronger than before. He’d moved far beyond being the strongest, he was now some god untouchable to the rest of you mere mortals. Even Suguru seemed weak next to him now.
Satoru began taking on more and more missions alone, no longer needing any sort of assistance for even the toughest of cases. It made you a bit smug, seeing Suguru left reeling in his dust the same you you had always been. Sure Suguru had stopped his teasing but you still thought he deserved to feel some of the misery and insecurity he’d inflicted on you. It helped that Satoru never seemed to have the time to comfort him either when he was around, opting instead for more fun activities that Suguru often decided to stay home from. One of Satoru’s best suggestions had been that you all go to an amusement park together, Suguru claimed he needed to rest but you and Shoko had gone. Satoru promised there would be no use of curse energy as you all attempted to best each other at carnival games and dared each other onto increasingly scary rides. It was one of the best days you could remember having, topped off by a delicious dinner on Satoru.
When you returned home you’d all split off, with you opting to take a long shower before you headed for bed. You replayed the happy memories as you readied yourself, smiling wide as you left the bathroom, only to collide with a wall of a man. Suguru stepped back without an apology, eyeing you up and down before pursing his lips.
“Have fun?” he asked.
You’d been on more friendly terms lately but you couldn’t help being constantly suspicious. Waiting for him to make the same 180 he had at the beginning of the year as soon as he was out of his slump.
“Yeah, it was great,” you smiled brightly at him.
He looked terrible. Bags under his eyes and his hair grown out. He seemed like he hadn’t slept in weeks. You’d noticed he seemed to slump over now, not glare down at you the way he had for months.
“I ran into Yuki today,” he began, “The special grade.”
Your eyes widened just a bit. No one ever heard from her as far as you were aware.
“Wow, that’s like spotting bigfoot or something,” you tried to joke, “Did you get to talk?”
He nodded, “Yeah, we talked for a while, it was nice. It made me think a lot.”
You studied him, tempted to make some snide remark, “Good, you’ve seemed down. Hopefully it brought you some peace.”
“It did, I feel a lot better. I’m glad I ran into you actually, I have to leave for a mission tonight. I wanted to tell you I don’t think we’re enemies anymore,” he leaned on the wall beside him, “So I forgive you.”
Something twisted in your stomach and you narrowed your eyes at him, “You forgive me? What the hell would I need to be forgiven for? You’re the one who’s been a dick to me all year.”
“I’m forgiving you for being my enemy.”
“I was only your enemy because you decided I was! I never wanted to have some stupid rivalry with you!” you snapped at him, “You should be asking me for forgiveness if anything!”
“I don’t need it,” he waved his hand dismissively, “I just realized there’s things I care more about than our romantic rivalry. Satoru would never make a choice anyway, so it’s always been up to us to make that choice.”
“He would choose me,” you weren’t sure about it at all, but you wanted so badly to hurt him, to have the power over him just this once, “I would win, Suguru.”
He grabbed your chin between his thumb and index finger. The gesture was intimate and startling. “You sound so confident but you’re trembling you know? It’s a shame things went so bad between us.”
Before you could snap back that it was his fault his lips were pressed against yours. The shocked sound you made was muffled by his lips pressing hard against yours. Something about it was all sour and wrong. You shoved him off of you as soon as your mind processed what was happening. He smirked at you and slapped him as hard as you could, leaving a big red splotch on his pale cheek. He started to laugh.
“Fuck you!” you yelled at him, “What the fuck is wrong with you?!”
“Can you two keep it down?” Satoru sighed as he peaked out of his bedroom door, his arms crossed like a disappointed parent, “I’m trying to catch up on my manga. I thought you two were done with all the fighting anyway.”
“He kissed me!” you yelled as the taller man smirked at both of you.
Satoru’s eyes widened, glowing a bright blue in the nearly pitch black hall, “He what?”
“It was a friendly peck,” Suguru just kept smirking, like he’d finally won the battle between you two.
“It was not! I would never, ever in a million years want to kiss you!”
“What the fuck Suguru!” Satoru had shoved him a few paces back from you, acting as a wall between you, “You can’t-” he paused as he examined his best friend's face, “You can’t kiss people without their permission!”
Suguru shrugged, “I thought she wanted to. My mistake, we can talk about it when I get back from my mission.”
He had spun on his heels and made a quick return to his room. Satoru muttered, “What the fuck?” before turning back to you, “Are you alright?”
You nodded, “Yeah, he’s just being a jackass, nothing new.”
“I’ll talk to him,” he promised, “I’m sorry.”
You shook your head, “You don’t need to apologize for him Satoru. I’m fine really, he’s just picking on me again. Don’t worry about it.”
“Well I don’t like it when he does that,” Satoru frowned at you and offered you his hand, “Here, I can walk you back to yours if you want, I’m sorry that happened.”
“I’m okay,” you took his hand, so big it nearly engulfed yours entirely, “Thank you Satoru.”
“Yeah, anything for you.”
Suguru had left sometime in the middle of the night. It was the middle of the day before you found out exactly where he had gone. Run off to slaughter his entire home town. Sure he was a jerk to you, but you’d never imagine he would be capable of something like that. It made you feel sick, knowing you’d been beside someone so evil for so long. Knowing he’d kissed you just before he.
You felt even worse for Satoru, who would most likely end up having to be the one to kill him. There weren't a lot of people strong enough to do the job. Satoru had cried on the school steps after he found out. You did your best to provide comfort and let him sob into your neck. You both talked for hours about how you couldn't imagine him doing something like this, about how upset you were for not following him after his odd behavior the night before. It felt suddenly like you were responsible for not stopping him, even though no one ever would have guessed he was capable of what he did.
The next week passed in silence. No one wanted to discuss what happened. You all buried yourselves in training, attempting to push down your emotions around the event. Satoru and you had begun sharing a bed. You had nightmares about that night that made it hard to sleep. Satoru wasn’t sleeping at all, but he’d let you lay on his chest and hold you while he did. He stayed up most nights just thinking and replaying events over and over in his mind. He found holding you brought him a lot of peace. He could run through all the ‘what if's' of that night, questioning if Suguru would have hurt you if he hadn’t heard you two fighting, but that didn’t change the fact that you were right there in his arms. You were safe as long as he was holding you. He’d lost half his soul already and he couldn’t bear to lose the other.
It was exactly one week after Suguru’s attack that Yaga had approached Satoru for a mission. Satoru may have been grieving but he was still the strongest, there were still things only he could take care of. So he was sent out to the outskirts of Tokyo to get back to work. He was a bit worried about leaving the school, worried Suguru might be planning to attack it next. Yaga had assured him the school was perfectly safe against him. You had encouraged him to take the mission as well, thinking that getting back to work might help him blow off some steam and ease his anger.
Satoru had still seemed a bit antsy when he left so you wanted to do something nice for him. You’d gone to the city, not far from the school, to retrieve some baked goods from a favorite shop of his. It was a quick errand you thought nothing of until you spotted a familiar head of black hair outside the shop. Your eyes widened and you debated who to call but before you could even reach for your phone he was waving to you.
He cocked his head and smiled at you the same way he had when you first met, “Hey!” He seemed more friendly and happy than he had all year, “You don’t have to look so scared, I don’t bite sorcerers you know?”
“What are you doing here?” you questioned.
“Satoru’s favorite, right?” he nodded towards the shop, “Picking something up?”
“What are you doing here?” you repeated.
“I wanted to talk,” he shoved his hands into the pockets of his baggy sweats, “Can you take a few minutes for an old friend?”
Satoru had taken care of his mission rather quickly. You had been right, it helped alleviate some of his stress, but it quickly returned as soon as he checked his phone.
‘Let’s meet up. That bakery with the giant cakes? See you soon - S.G’
It wasn’t an alarming text per say, but the fact that Suguru was showing face again was. Satoru was sure he knew he had a death sentence, and sure he knew Satoru was supposed to take him out. He was also sure Suguru wouldn’t put himself in danger without a plan. Probably why he wanted to meet among civilians. Fearing another slaughter fest Satoru opted not to contact anyone else and rush right to the scene. He picked up on Suguru’s curse energy as soon as he got close, but more alarming than that he detected your energy as well. Satoru assumed he was going to attempt to take you hostage, probably having sent you a similar text to lure you out.
“Satoru! Yo!” Suguru waved to him as soon as he turned the corner to the bakery.
The whole street was empty. Suguru’s body was splattered with blood. He sat smiling and waving with a knife in one hand. A cursed tool Satoru recognized instantly.
“Suguru what the he-” before he could finish he spotted you.
You laid limp on the ground under Suguru, your eyes were still open but there was nothing behind them. Your lips were starting to tint purple, your whole body was totally limp. Suguru sat on top of you, it was obvious what had happened, what he had done. Satoru was in shock, only able to stare as his mind reeled.
“I don’t want to hurt sorcerers,” Suguru wiped his hands on his sweats as he stood, “But there’s always exceptions right? One day you’ll probably thank me for how much stronger this makes you.”
He knew he should attack Suguru, that he should stop him and kill him right there. He wanted to, it was the first moment he could actually picture himself murdering his best friend. Instead he paced towards you, quite slowly, as if he might startle you.. He bent down beside Suguru and placed his hand on your neck, looking for a pulse. There was nothing though, you were cold and covered in your own blood. Satoru felt nauseous, his ears were ringing, his eyes were burning. He felt as if there was nothing else in the world but you for a moment. He imagined some way to heal you even though you were gone. Killed by a cursed tool to make sure there was no way to come back. Suguru had taken every precaution.
“I’ll kill you,” he muttered softly, “I’ll kill you, Suguru.”
Suguru was gone already, fleeing before Satoru could get his bearings. Instead of chasing him, Satoru laid down beside you. He pulled you onto his chest and wrapped his arms around you. He squeezed you tight and wept silently until you were dragged away from him.

kenshi kept mostly to himself, given his motivations for fighting in the tournament in the first place. of course, he'd get into the occasional spitting match with the actor that held his sword hostage as well. but something about you made his work feel unimportant.
he wouldn't make himself known to you for quite some time, but he caught your eye during the introductions when he arrived at the academy. you stood beside liu kang as his second in command, posture perfect and eyes forward. you were a trained individual, and kenshi couldn't help but be fully enamored.
you embodied everything kenshi aspired to be, and he was torn between wishing you two would spend more time together, to wishing you'd kick the shit out of him. maybe both?
"i come requesting for a sparring partner," kenshi explains, eyes transfixed on your perfect form. he had to avert his gaze to the ground as he bowed, lest he fall victim to your beauty. "i was hoping for some advice and feedback."
you agree, considering it's your job. and so, you begin setting up the environment for a spar. the floor is cleared and you roll up your sleeves, taking your personal fighting stance. kenshi almost forgot to ready himself when you charged at him.
you were objectively a better fighter than him, sword or otherwise. his blows were easily parried and his punches were matched with kicks. and sure, he had a crush now, but when you stood over him with your hands on your hips, something stronger blossomed. he felt his face become hot as he laid flat on his back between your legs.
then, he smirked with a newfound confidence. now or never, tattoo.
"perhaps we should spar more often, if this is the outcome," he'd slyly remark.
his comment earned him a week of scrubbing floors, but he doesn't regret it, no matter how hard johnny and lao pointed and laughed. and neither do you.

he fought like hell to get out of outworld, freed from the shackles of shang tsung's imprisonment. when the portal behind everyone closed, syzoth stood awkwardly alongside ashrah behind the earthrealmers.
"meet the newest players of earthrealm," johnny introduces them to liu kang, though he is already familiar with their existence. he created them, after all.
"syzoth, ashrah, please," liu kang gestures for them to follow him. he needed intel on the situation, and fast. something sinister was brewing.
he leads them into a large room decorated with hourglasses and dragon statues. tables with scattered scrolls, maps, and figurines litter the room. this must be liu kang's workspace.
as syzoth enters the spacious room, he is marveled at the intricacy of the designs. what captures his attention quicker, though, was you. you were sitting in a distant chair, standing upon the group's arrival and taking your spot beside liu kang.
"this is my trusted assistant," liu kang introduces you, and you bow to them respectfully. "please inform them of any useful information regarding shang tsung."
syzoth feels as if life slows down, and his cold blood send a shiver down his spine. his face flushes with a greenish tint, and he already finds himself impossibly infatuated with your appearance. you remind him of an ancient statue, how your beauty deserves to be preserved for all to appreciate. but at the same time, he feels a strong desire to keep you to himself.
you sit across from the zaterran, briefly introducing yourself before diving into the questioning. syzoth, however, can't seem to focus on your words, only your plush lips.
"syzoth," you say, trying to regain his attention that is obviously diverted. "tell me how you fell into shang tsung's imprisonment."
syzoth tries so hard to spill the entire timeline, but his words stumble over each other every time he looks up at you. your eyes are so warm, so inviting, so perfect. he's flustered incredibly quickly. it's so obvious that even ashrah playfully rolls her eyes from a distance.
you make him nervous, and that's really cute.

johnny >
johnny walks through the portal with new his fellow chosen ones, taking in the view of the academy. he tunnel visions hard, only focusing on getting adequate information using his phone. that is, until he pans over to the group of monks awaiting his arrival. he stops on you, shamelessly zooming in to get a good view of your face.
"didn't know monks could be so sexy," he'd call out with a smirk, not even putting his phone down for a single second to admire you in person. it's only when kenshi shoves his arm downward that he actually gets a good look at you.
his playboy jokes would die down when he neared you as it was replaced with a warm obsession. you were drop-dead gorgeous. he could score you some roles in movies, you could be the face of perfumes across the globe!
what he felt wasn't like hollywood infatuation. he wanted to know more than what you hid under your robes, which was relatively new to him. he felt the need to grow and change to earn your praise.
he felt little to no shame about this realization. every chance he could, it was an offer to dinner, an offer to visit his sleeping quarters, or him casually dropping he'll be in the secluded hot springs after training, glancing over his shoulder to make sure you heard him.
johnny would make a clear effort to somehow always be in your way, forcing you to interact with him. he'd insist on cleaning your dishes, always be first up for demonstrations, and just so happened to memorize your schedule and "accidentally" bump into you on the gravel paths. it was so abundantly obvious that this man was head over heels, it was kind of embarrassing.
you didn't entertain the actor, honestly. it's not that you didn't like him, it was that he'd A) flirt with a vase if it had nice curves, and B) your duties were more important than a celebrity. or at least, you forced yourself to believe it.
"come on baby, surely you're wondering what kind of punch a hollywood actor packs."
"in your dreams, cage," you'd reply with a smile, knowing damn well you want to take him up on his offer later.

liu kang >
he swore to never get entangled with mortals, not after what happened - or rather, didn't happen - with kitana.
liu kang grows out of this infatuation after eons of busywork and dedicates himself to the stability of the timeline. nothing could distract him from his duties.
that is, until he met the New Era you. you were a relatively insignificant part in his life prior to the timeline reset, so he never paid much attention to you or knew you existed. but, this time around, liu kang took some creative liberties and decided to give you a more significant purpose. what he didn't do was see you before this moment.
he was discussing important matters with geras at the wu shi academy, mind only focused on the importance of the hourglass and the absurdity of recent events revolving a somehow resurrected titan. as he circles the sandy display, he glances through the vision and realizes you, one of the monks, is standing in the doorway with seemingly important knowledge to deliver.
liu kang feels his heart flutter, and he places his hand on his chest in mild surprise. his face remains stoic and expressionless, but it's clear that something winded him. geras glances over at the fire god with a knowing look.
"lord liu kang," you say with a quick bow, and liu kang makes a mental note to himself that he may or may not be into titles. "i come bearing news regarding the chosen ones."
liu kang stands there, his bright eyes totally unreadable. his lips open and close, and his tattoos flicker. he doesn't realize just how long he'd been staring and lost in thought. your beauty reminded him of the universe he painted, so elegant and full of life. he doesn't know how he didn't notice you sooner. to him, you were everything he wanted to be right in the world with your gentle features and kind voice.
geras waves a hand in front of him, making him blink and snap back into reality. he clears his throat.
"yes, yes, please," liu kang suddenly adopts a warm, loving tone, one that's more caring than his usual godly silky voice. his old personality shines through, the charming pretty boy attitude he swore to abandon eons ago. "you may enter, my dear. some tea?"
geras makes the observation that he's sweeter to you than most others, but he's going to keep that to himself. for now, he just watches with mild amusement as liu kang prepares a small cup of matcha for you with a smile that travels into his glowing eyes. he witnessed that look before, when he'd see his kitana. but this was new, this was something that could be beautiful if he let himself try.

You're Only Sixteen

Training hall, 7:32, one day before the mission
»C‘mon, focus.«
Ghost taunts you as he is sparring with you, having been at it for probably a few minutes after going out for a morning run. After that glorious nightmare that was indeed a flashback, you have been more focused than anything today. But Ghost doesn‘t care, he really wants to push your limits today and see how much more you can actually endure. And he is really sure you can handle more than you‘re letting on. He saw you take out a man twice your size with a simple fire extinguisher.
Obviously, his words do little to provoke you, but his punches sure do. The sheer amount of sass this man has during sparring sessions is always something you admire about him. With another hard hit against your side, you feel your adrenaline rise before your attacks start to become stronger, finally making him sweat. You‘re not sure why you‘re holding back on him, since back at your camp, you always made sure to be stronger and even meaner in fights, but you also know your camp was abusive, in some way or another. Ghost is quick too, however, and counters your attacks back, putting more force in his hits too.
Finally, the match is more rough between you two, making Ghost struggle to keep up with your movements. It is not clear who is winning the round before you kick his side quickly with more force, making him gasp and launch at you. Before he could actually attack you, you duck and aim for his abdominal area, finally making him stumble. But you don‘t stop there, encouraging him to fall. He does, eventually but not without letting out a curse so bad that you thought he was actually mad at you.
But no, he is far from mad at you. Actually feeling some kind of pride that you actually beat him. Even Soap has a hard time winning against Ghost, but he is also used to the competitive fights between him and Gaz. You help him stand back on his feet, and he gives you detailed critique. Well, he is mostly complaining about the way you‘ve been holding back until now.
»Seriously, you need to stop pretending I‘m fragile. I can take your hits. And I‘ve seen you take down men before. You can do better than that; just don‘t think too much.«
You give him a brief nod back, feeling somewhat lighter. Maybe today‘s morning training is making you finally take your mind off the things that are currently plaguing your mind.
You both start another round of training, having the freedom of taking out of frustration on Ghost, beating him a second time. You believe he is just going easy on you, but the way he pants while he gets up from the mat says otherwise.
Eventually, after some more rounds, in which you both win equal amounts of time, Ghost thinks you‘re ready for the mission, and it‘s time to go to the last official meeting before preparing for the deployment.
Arriving there, you see Laswell and Price already standing by the table, noticing you two enter as well. It seemed like they were talking about something, the room falling silent briefly.
»Still in for the task?«
Price questions you, his tone neutral but his expression having a serious hint in it. You give him a short nod, answering as the day before. Meanwhile, the rest of the team enters the briefing room and settles on standing around the table as usual. Laswell doesn‘t waste any time on getting to the point, starting the small PowerPoint and explaining the steps of the mission even clearer than last time.
The plan changed up slightly, changing up the positions mostly.
»You‘re still paired with Farah. But you will be taking care of the guards outside and keeping watch on the building. After that‘s done, you‘ll be joining the rest inside the building. Since you have the most knowledge about the camp, it will be your responsibility to lead the safest way into the director‘s room.«
The small changeup seems to be quite simple, understanding the task. Instead of ensuring the safety of the children, you will now help them get the so-called bad guys. Or your past superiors and boss. But it‘s better than having to escort your past rival, having dreaded the thought of possibly seeing him again. Laswell looks away from you, focussing her eyes on the slide of the PowerPoint that‘s projected on the whiteboard, continuing with the mission plan.
»Farah has enough men to safely escort the children away, leaving us a clear view of the task at hand.«
She glances back at you, her expression still as dead-serious as the day before.
»Your call sign from now on is ‘Bane‘.«
Soap grins lightly at the call sign, looking your way. Gaz does the same, glancing to you briefly. He only gives you a solid nod, but Soap even gives you a thumbs up. It‘s clear they both seem to want to hype you up in a subtle manner. Ghost, however, only gets the simple message behind the call sign; seeing the first mission together had left a big impression.
The briefing goes on, with Laswell mostly leading the meeting as the rest listens, only sometimes interjecting or asking questions. You stay quiet though, just letting the whole plan go over in your head several times and also getting used to your call sign.
Maybe you worry too much because you feel the muscles around your arms start to hurt lightly. It‘s not a sharp pain but more of a dull, throbbing pain around your forearms that makes you feel uncomfortable overall. No matter what, though, you stay still and calm during the briefing until you can finally leave for lunch and have a small break. The muscle ache subsides slowly as you make your way to the mess hall with Gaz and Soap, getting your food trays, and sitting down at your usual table. Finally, the ache seems to fully go away, letting you eat in peace. Of course that familiar ache was a thing even before joining this team. Due to being exposed to high stress situations at a young age, it must be your body‘s way of showing you stress since you mainly go through the stress and do anything to complete a mission.
Ghost passes by your table and sets the capri sun down on it, leaning his hands on the table as he looks at the rest.
»She beat me four times at sparring today.«
No one would have expected it, but Soap was the first one to process his words and drop his fork into his plate.
»You broke my record!«
He looks to you with a betrayed look, crossing his arms in a pouty way as he stares at you with his mouth wide open.
»Soap‘s havin‘ beef with a teenager now.« Gaz mumbles amused while he watches his teammate‘s reaction, only hurting his ego even more.
»I‘m not!« Soap glares at his teammate before looking back towards you, »In a matter of a few days, righ‘?«
You don‘t get what he is asking for a moment before you glance at Ghost, unsure of what to say. You beat Ghost four times today. Not four times in a year.
The lack of response makes Soap groan and hit his head on the table in a dramatic way. He could‘ve answered his own question, considering you are there for almost two weeks by now, and you have only been training with Ghost for today.
Ghost feels visibly smug and wanders off to his office, probably eating alone once again. The table isn‘t silent for too long as Gaz continues to tease him for getting his record broken by you, munching on the food while discussing this childish topic. In Soap‘s mentality, there is no such thing as ‚childish‘, because as long as it makes you happy or gives you a purpose in life, it doesn‘t matter if people find it funny or not.
Eventually, you finish your meal with the rest, starting on the capri sun now, as you walk out of the mess hall. Soap excuses himself to join Ghost in his office and bicker about his broken record, leaving you alone with Gaz, or ‚Kyle‘, for you, as he tells you to call him now. He suggests a walk around the park again, easily agreeing to such a request.
You start walking beside each other, the conversation starting off with him asking you something out of concern.
»Nervous for the mission? It‘s a pretty big one.«
»It should be fine. I‘m used to high-pressure operations.«
Kyle can‘t help but feel his heart break every time you say something mature like that. A literal teenager shouldn‘t be feeling like this. Getting a big responsibility thrown in their way, having to act tough and not be allowed to feel fear or back down, constantly needing to keep up your fitness and strength… it‘s too much, and he really wonders if you are actually so strong and capable, or if you are good at pretending.
Maybe he is worrying too much, but he knows he was busy trying to beat his friends at ‚Need for Speed‘ and ‚Mortal Kombat‘ in high school instead of worrying about things like you are right now.
»Are you though? It must be a lot, raiding your old camp and arresting your old superiors. There‘s a lot to process.«
He didn‘t mean to pressure you even more or get you into some sort of stressful situation, but you started to get defensive.
»I am used to this. There is nothing new about this, and...« You pause, trying to figure out how to say this and also not cringe at yourself, »I have a team now.«
Kyle raises his eyebrow lightly at that, not able to hide his light surprise. He doesn‘t know the system you had back there, really only Ghost being the lucky – or rather unlucky one – to know about the unusal system. And you are sure that Kyle would be even more devastated if he heard about those. A brief moment of silence goes by before he speaks up again.
»You trust us a lot, don‘t you?« His voice becoming more solemn. You give him a brief nod back, not daring to look into his eyes. He sees it as the best positive response he‘ll ever receive from you and just walks beside you quietly.
The conversation turns into something more light afterwards, getting to joke around a little bit with him as he mostly explains you what vines are and tells you some of the more popular memes, which you find rather absurd but funny.
The rest of the day went by relaxed. Or as relaxed as possible, since you still sometimes got a muscle ache and there wasn‘t any official training or meeting until the flight, leaving you some time to fully set into the new mission and get ready.
You keep checking for the small Polaroid in your bag; paranoid that it will vanish into thin air, but it doesn‘t.
Flight, 4:00
The flight came by quicker than you wanted it to be. Even though you want to get your revenge on every single one who wronged you, you can‘t help but feel wrought up about it.
But you don‘t have time to think about it now as you‘re getting into the helicopter with the others, being too tired to give a fuck about any of your worries anyway. Once you got all the essentials into the vehicle, you took a seat and put the headset on. Nikolai‘s chirp voice comes through, greeting everyone again.
»Ah, good mornin‘ guys! Ready to kick some ass?«
Kyle snorts beside you as he hears the motivated voice from the pilot, shaking his head lightly.
»Always. Drive already.«
Price responds as he makes it comfortable on the seat in front of you, looking towards the cockpit where Nikolai is just doing some final check-ups.
»It‘s flying, Captain. Flying.« Nik quips back, a little disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm from the team, eventually starting to fly to Urzikstan. You wonder how the pilot can be so cheerful most of the time, it being literally four in the morning, and you are about to fly for approximately eight hours. He must intake some serious drugs before every flight, because you‘ve never seen such a happy Russian man before.
Speaking of the devil, he calls you over to the cockpit, and you wonder what he might possibly want from you now. You step into the cockpit, standing behind him as he flies, glancing to you. He motions for you to take your headset off, wanting to speak privately.
»I didn‘t tell anyone, but I built a sound box in here. You listen to music? You can choose here, just play whatever you like.«
Meanwhile, the rest of the team discusses something among themselves, not paying much attention to your conversation with Nik.
And, of course, you know a thing or two about music. Well, you do have a favourite band since the camp played most of their music in the gym.
You look towards the device he shoves into your hands, having a bit of trouble understanding the mechanics of it, but you figure it out quite quickly. The first tones go off in the helicopter, making you flinch lightly. Nikolai nods along to the music for a moment, smiling satisfied and glad you didn‘t put on Taylor Swift.
»Nik?« You quickly give the device back to the man as you hear Price approach you both, playing as neutrally as possible. But the pilot doesn‘t even spare so much of a glance to the captain, seemingly too focused on controlling the helicopter.
»Why is Papa Roach playing at full volume?«
Price questions, looking to Nik and then to you. His expression seems more confused than annoyed, not having expected some music on the flight. But he seems to piece it together fairly quickly with how quiet you are and that you happen to just stand innocently by him.
»Bloody hell...« He sighs out softly and leaves you two be, returning back to the rest.
The rest of the flight consists of you talking to Nikolai, him mostly rambling about the helicopter you are both in and talking about some more mechanics and other planes and jets he once got to fly with. At the same time, the music plays in the background, realising mid-fly that he also installed some serious bass subwoofers within the sound boxes. The playlist seems to change, as you hear some unfamiliar songs that seem to be the stuff he usually enjoys. You ask him about it, feeling like he is the most easy and fun to talk to by far. Beside Kyle.
»Oh, that‘s my favourite band, Slaughter To Previal! I‘ve seen them live last summer in Moscow… Their show was something else. Do you like them so far?«
You take a small moment to answer, actually finding it rather strange and also a little too much. But you certainly respect his passion for this specific band. It seems like they are singing in Russian too.
»It‘s definitely energetic. And loud.«
Nik barks a laugh at your answer, understanding it might be something new and strange for you, considering you mostly know something about the nu-metal band ‚Papa Roach‘.
The last four hours of the flight go by with some occasional naps against Soap‘s shoulder and listening to the conversations the others have.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, you are back in Urzikstan. The very same country you spent most of your life in. Where you wished to never return.
But this is about getting a mission done. The most important mission you‘ve ever had, probably.
Nik lands in a big landing field near a smaller base, the surroundings being familiar to you. The scenery is mostly bland, the sun being out by now, and the base being located in the middle of a desert. As you walk out, the hot sun surprises you, making your shield you eyes with your hand from it.
There are already some extra people that help with the baggage and all the equipment you brought for the mission. You stand by the others, making sure not to get lost, and stay by Kyle‘s side, seeing him stretch his back from the long flight.
Two people approach your small group, seemingly apart of the operation and base, the same people who will help with your task just tomorrow.
»Good morning, old man. I heard you have a new addition?«
Farah greets Price, making you finally look to her and to the man beside her. Kyle goes in for a hug with the man who introduces himself as Alex Keller to you, seeming like a decent dude.
Price goes to introduce you to them but gets cut off by Farah.
»No, I know her. How‘s your arm?«
Even you are surprised by her directness, and the team seems to be even more surprised. Gaz is the first one to actually speak up about the initial surprise, gesturing between the two of you.
»You… know ‘er?«
The air seems to tense for a moment before Farah nods and explains finally, seeing that you are still not a talkative one.
»We met three years ago, during a raid. I‘m glad she‘s with you now.«
After that brief explanation, it seems like some were still confused at the absurdity of you both knowing each other, but no one will press any further for now.
With some more words between the team and Farah, you walk into their base and get back to discussing the mission. Everyone seems to know their task pretty well, but there are still speculations about the operation and camp. What is actually their motive behind it? Why do they even need child soldiers?
»From the information we received from the warehouse, we could only determine where the building is and who it belongs to. We also got a list with all the children inside; they have full files of each of them.«
Price explains as Farah listens, the second in command, Alex standing beside her.
»Bane has most of the intel from all of us, which is why I think she is essential for the mission.«
Farah‘s eyes are mostly on you, studying the way you stick by Ghost‘s side during the brief and seem to be focused on the task as well. You‘ve clearly grown quite a bit during those three years of not seeing each other, but she can still see the scared and rageful thirteen-year-old she once almost took out.
»And this is why she will stick with us after clearing the guards outside. Farah, you still have enough men to escort the children, right?«
Finally, she tears her eyes away from you and nods, getting back to fully focus on the briefing again. The air is serious but not tense. Again, something you are not used to at briefings, even after having been in several one‘s with your team.
Once some more information and planning has been done, checking afterwards if everything is working right, it gets back to preparing more. But before you could join your team in preparing your equipment, Farah gets ahead of you and speaks up. She stands by your side, leading you more towards the exit to speak more privately.
»Seriously, how‘s your arm? I stabbed it really back then.«
She questions with more concern in her features this time, looking at you while walking outside and abandoning the rest.
»It‘s fine, you don‘t need to worry about it. Just got a bit of a scar.«
You dismiss quickly, feeling really glad you are wearing long sleeves today, even though you knew it‘s pretty warm in this country.
»Well… I‘m glad you got into better hands. Your decision?«
She asks again, this time being more light, but not without a hint of seriousness and genuine curiousness.
»Got sent to them because I was starting to lack.«
»Why were you getting worse?«
You really dreaded that question, and there is no way you will be able to answer that without at least your voice breaking. The conversation pauses for a moment before Farah sighs out, realisation setting in.
»I‘m sorry for your loss… When did it happen?« Of course she would realise it that quick. After all, she tried to interrogate you after stabbing you before finding out you are actually still a child.
»Two years ago. Raid mission; I was first in command, but she insisted on entering first.«
You bit your inner cheek, focused on staying calm and not letting any emotions escape as you talk to her. Even when you have only met her two times, she grew on you quite a lot. She is definitely the reason why you kept going as well.
»It‘s like she knew… she - it should‘ve been me.«
Against your will, your voice breaks and apart of Farah breaks too, as you try to explain what really happened. She stops walking and embraces you into a hug, her arms wrapping gently around you with a strong intent to comfort you.
»Don‘t say that. Halime wouldn‘t want you to beat yourself over it. It‘s not your fault.«
She tells you gently as she rubs your back lightly, feeling how tense your shoulders are. Farah always saw a part of herself in you. She was, too, being thrown into a difficult situation as a young child and was forced to continue. However, she also had a brother to care about and also had some sort of company that way. Now, you are the one who has nothing left but your team and this life, in which you are still fighting to survive.
»You need the will to continue, and you have it. But most importantly, we are here for you, and we will make sure to help you through each step. Understood?«
Her voice became a little lighter at the end as she pulled away from the hug just enough to look at you.
You were caught off guard by her hug and comforting words, but you had an even stronger will and motivation to go on the mission with the rest and get it done nicely. Now it‘s time to gear up and make your way to the old camp that once made your life a living hell.
a/n: I actually love Slaughter to Previal, I've seen them live in January and my life changed. Had to really strain myself from not writing from my perspective as Nik was speaking lol. Some proof, lmao:

Ghost x Reader who is basically his scary shadow. Like yeah Ghost is big and scary, but reader is bigger and scarier.

Headcanons
I love big scary reader, I was imagining König sized reader (you know, the 6’10 the fandom makes him). I was imagining the reader wearing one of those sniper ghillie hoods with one of those masks that cover the lower part of the face and the neck.
They call you Hydra or Kraken as your callsign, because your big, scary, and no matter how many times you go down you come back stronger.
If Ghost is scary because of the stories about him, you are terrifying. Together the two of you make an image that would give many nightmares.
Cadets and even other high ranking military people have almost pissed themselves when speaking to Ghost and you seemingly appear out of nowhere and loom over his shoulder, staring down at them with unblinking and cold eyes.
You wear a sniper ghillie hood, so you look almost like a swamp monster with the hood up, since you also wear camo fabric over the lower half of your face and paint what little skin is visible with warpaint.
Where Ghost is scary but can be fun to be around as he likes to crack jokes and speaks to others if needed, you are a big silent shadow, mainly responding with nods, shakes of the heads, grunts or with your eyes.
The 141 don’t fear you though, they know your as much of a softie as Ghost. Though they were on edge the first time you met, and the Los Varqueros were also quite intimidated by you.
Soap calls you Nessie, since you lay low in swamps and other wet areas to snipe or do sneak attacks. It ends up sticking and becomes a nickname only your team calls you.
You regularly use your size to your advantage, be it to intimidate or harm enemies, since you can easily pick grown men up and crack them over your knee like a stick.
Gaz makes a joke about not ending up on your bad side, whilst Soap chuckles a little nervously as he sees you throw a man bigger than himself like he weighs nothing.
Ghost just hums in reply, finding you very hot as you go about your business on the mission, he loves to crawl you like a tree when its just the two of you, not that he would ever tell anyone that.
Ghost and you call each other by your real names when you are alone, wanting to separate from your callsigns and just be yourselves for a while.
He loves just how much bigger you are since you can wrap yourself around him and hold him close. Ghost also likes to be picked up and cuddled though he will never admit this.
The two of you spar together a lot and wrestle, and its 50/50 who wins most of the time. Your sparring always draws a crowd because you both are two of the best and have heavy stories hanging around about you, making the two of you almost seem non-human.
There have been multiple times where you have covered Ghost with your own body during battle, taking bullets for him or taking the brunt of an explosive. You are so large you can cover him with most of your body and keep him safe.
Ghost despises this since it means you get hurt, and its lead to arguments before and even the two of you not speaking for a while but you always end up making up and holding each other.
You both aren’t much for speaking about your emotions, but you but try to have communication in your relationship, though its taken quite a while to have gotten to the comfortable point you are at now.

Soldier Boy x F/Reader Y/N

Autumn of 1950, Soldier Boy, the embodiment of rugged heroism and Vought-American's premier supe, was summoned to a high-rise office overlooking New York City. The meeting was brief, direct, and left a bitter taste in his mouth.
His new assignment: train a young girl named Y/N, a fresh supe with a "girl next door" persona. To Soldier Boy, it felt like a waste of time. Why did he had to train her, there had to be other tasks for the world’s greatest hero!
When they first met, Y/N stood in stark contrast to the grizzled Soldier Boy. She had an optimistic gleam in her eyes and a smile that seemed permanently etched on her face. She was eager to learn, but Soldier Boy couldn’t stand her naivety.
“Listen up, kid,” he grumbled during their first training session. “Being a supe isn’t about smiles and handshakes. It’s about getting the job done. And sometimes, it gets messy. I don’t think you can handle that."
Y/N shook her head, determination shining in her eyes. “I can handle it. I want to help people, no matter what it takes.” Soldier Boy sneered. “We’ll see about that.” He was relentless in his training.
Every day, he pushed her to her limits, both physically and mentally. Gruelling obstacle courses, intense combat drills, and brutal sparring sessions became her new routine. Whenever she stumbled, he was there with a cutting remark.
“Come on, sweetheart, is that the best you’ve got?” he’d taunt. “Real heroes don’t get tired. Real heroes don’t complain.” Despite his harshness, Y/N refused to give up. She endured his gruelling regimen with a quiet resilience that began to chip away at Soldier Boy’s disdain.
She didn’t just want to be a hero; she wanted to prove herself, and her perseverance was impossible to ignore. One day, during a particularly brutal training exercise, Soldier Boy pushed her to the edge.
She was exhausted, her body bruised and battered, but she stood her ground. “Why do you keep doing this?” he demanded, his voice a mix of frustration and curiosity. “Why don’t you just quit? You’re too soft for this job.”
Y/N met his gaze, her eyes unwavering. “Because I believe in doing the right thing. Because I believe in helping people, no matter how hard it gets. And because I know I can be a hero, even if you don’t believe it.” He rolled his eyes "Sure sweetheart."
Months passed, and Y/N grew stronger, more skilled, and more confident, and as her confidence grew so did her abilities. Y/N seemed to be able to put up a defence barrier, holding back bullets, if she concentrated good enough, she could even use it as an extra force to her punches. Besides that, she healed quick and what time would tell, didn’t age.
She always kept that kindness in her eyes, but it was now tempered with a steely resolve. She had become everything Soldier Boy had initially doubted she could be. One evening, after a particularly grueling session, Soldier Boy handed Y/N a cold beer.
It was a small gesture, but it spoke volumes. She stared at it for a moment, hesitating. "I'm only 18," she said softly, a flicker of doubt crossing her face. Soldier Boy scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"Stop being such an uptight bitch all the time. It's just a beer." Y/N took the bottle reluctantly, the cool glass against her palm feeling unfamiliar and slightly intimidating. She hesitated, then took a small sip.
The bitterness of the beer mirrored the bitter moments she had faced during training, the relentless drills, and Soldier Boy’s cutting remarks. They sat in silence for a while, the city’s night sounds filtering in through the open window.
Y/N glanced at Soldier Boy, trying to decipher the man behind the harsh exterior. “Why did you agree to train me?” she asked quietly. Soldier Boy took a long swig from his own bottle before answering.
“Didn’t have much of a choice. Vought’s orders.” He paused, his gaze distant. “But you’re not as hopeless as I thought." Y/N felt a small swell of pride at his words. Coming from Soldier Boy, it was high praise indeed.
She took another sip, the beer tasting a little less bitter now. “Thanks,” she said with a little smile, proud of the first compliment her childhood hero gave her. Soldier Boy grunted in response.
Present day
Y/N had left the noise and chaos of the city far behind, finding solace in the peaceful rhythm of farm life. The fields stretched out in a patchwork of greens and browns, and the farmhouse, with its weathered wood and creaking floors, stood as a testament to a simpler, quieter existence.
She was tending to her garden when she saw them approaching: a group of men, rough around the edges and clearly out of place in the tranquil countryside. Her guard went up immediately.
Butcher, with his perpetual scowl, led the way, his intense gaze locking onto her. Hughie followed, looking slightly out of his element but determined. Frenchie and Kimiko were close behind, each with their own brand of intensity.
But it was M.M., standing a bit apart from the rest, who caught her attention. There was a steadiness in his eyes, a calm that seemed at odds with the chaos that surrounded the group.
Y/N straightened up, wiping her hands on her apron as they came to a stop in front of her. "What do you want?" she asked, her voice cold and wary. Butcher stepped forward, but M.M. gently placed a hand on his shoulder, signalling him to let M.M. handle it.
Butcher hesitated, then nodded, stepping back with a reluctant grunt. “Miss Y/N, my name is MM, I, no we, need your help. Taking down Homelander.” Y/N crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing. "And why would I help you? I retired to the countryside for peace. "
M.M. nodded, as if he understood. "I get it. Believe me, I do. But this isn’t just about revenge or taking down supes for the sake of it. We found out about a weapon, something that could kill Soldier Boy. If it can kill him, it can kill Homelander. And... it could probably kill you too. I presume you want to keep living?"
She flinched at that, the reality of her vulnerability striking a chord she didn’t want to acknowledge. "Why should I trust you?" she asked, her voice softer but still laced with suspicion. "Because we’re trying to do the right thing," M.M. said simply.
"We’re trying to protect people. And I think, deep down, that’s what you’ve always wanted to do too. You’ve got no reason to trust us, but we don’t have any reason to lie to you either. We need your help to find this weapon. If it exists, it’s our best shot at stopping Homelander. And if we don’t, a lot of innocent people are going to die."
There was a long silence as Y/N weighed his words. She glanced at the other members of The Boys, reading the desperation and determination etched into their faces. Finally, she looked back at M.M., seeing in him a glimmer of the same hope and resolve that had once driven her.
"Alright," she said at last, her voice steady. "I’ll help you. But only because I believe someone needs to stop Homelander. And if you’re lying to me, I’ll make sure you regret it." M.M. smiled, a genuine warmth in his expression.
"Fair enough. We’re grateful for your help, Y/N." As they began to discuss their plan, Y/N couldn’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia. She had tried to leave her past behind, but it seemed the fight for justice had found her once again. And this time, she was determined to see it through to the end.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows over the farm, Y/N found herself alone for a moment, she agreed they could stay at her place for the night. She leaned against the porch railing, enjoying the cool breeze.
Her mind wandered back to her time as a supe, a life that seemed so distant now. Hughie approached hesitantly, his hands stuffed in his pockets. He had a look of curiosity mixed with apprehension.
"Hey," he started, a bit awkwardly. "Mind if I ask you something?" Y/N glanced at him, her guard momentarily lowered. "Sure, go ahead." Hughie shifted his weight from one foot to the other, looking around the porch.
"I noticed there aren’t many pictures of you. Almost none, actually. W-why is that?" She laughed, a sound tinged with both amusement and bitterness. "Vought made sure the world would forget about me," she explained.
"When I left, they erased almost every trace of my existence. Photos, records, everything. They didn’t want anyone to remember a supe who walked away from it all." Hughie nodded, taking in her words. "That's... harsh. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised, considering Vought."
Y/N sighed, her eyes distant. "Yeah, that's Vought. Controlling the narrative, always." There was a pause, then Hughie asked another question that had been on his mind. "What was Soldier Boy like?" Y/N's expression softened, a mix of nostalgia and sadness crossing her face.
"He was... complicated. A real hard-ass, tough as nails, and absolutely relentless. He could be a real jerk, too, always pushing people to their limits, addict... you name it.” A little pause, she added more a reminder to herself than to him, “But underneath all that, he was just... human."
Hughie listened intently, sensing there was more to the story. "Did you ever get along with him?" She smiled faintly. "Eventually, yes. It took a while." Hughie looked thoughtful. "Do you think he would have been able to help us with Homelander, if he was still around?"
Y/N shrugged, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "It's hard to say. Soldier Boy was powerful, but he had his own flaws and demons. He might have helped, or he might have made things worse. We'll never know."
The next day they left for Russia
The private plane hummed steadily as it cut through the night sky, its cabin dimly lit. The Boys were scattered around, each lost in their thoughts or quietly discussing their plan. Y/N sat by a window, staring out into the inky blackness.
Butcher had a lead on the weapon that supposedly killed Soldier Boy, and they were heading to Russia to find it. As the drone of the engines filled her ears, Y/N felt herself slipping into a memory, a flashback to a mission that had happened decades ago in Russia, during her time with Soldier Boy.

The mission was critical, a high-stakes operation deep in enemy territory. Y/N and Soldier Boy were tasked with infiltrating a heavily fortified facility to retrieve vital intelligence. The plan was simple: she would create a distraction as he got the job done.
They had worked out the details meticulously, but plans rarely survived first contact with the enemy. Y/N had managed to draw the guards’ attention, using her powers to create enough chaos to give Soldier Boy the opening he needed. It worked, until she got shot multiple times.
She found herself cornered in a narrow hallway, the walls lined with steel and concrete. There was no way out. Gunfire echoed around her, the sharp sound of bullets ricocheting off the walls. She took cover behind a weak force shield, her heart pounding.
She could hear the guards closing in, their footsteps growing louder. As one hand shield her the other pushed down on her leg to stop the bleeding. "I’m trapped!" she shouted into her comm.
"There’s no way out!" For a few agonizing moments, there was only static in response. Then, his voice crackled through. "Hold on, kid." The minutes stretched into what felt like hours as she waited, the sound of gunfire and shouting closing in.
She fought off the guards as best she could, using her powers as offence instead to keep them at bay, but she knew she couldn't hold out much longer. Just when she thought it was over, an explosion rocked the hallway. The steel door at the end of the corridor burst open, and there he was.
Soldier Boy, a look of fierce determination on his face. He tore through the guards with brutal efficiency, clearing a path to her. "Let’s go!" he shouted, grabbing her arm and pulling her to her feet. Together, they fought their way out of the facility, Soldier Boy covering her as they made their escape.
When they finally reached the extraction point, she collapsed onto the ground, breathing heavily grabbing her leg. "You okay?" he asked, kneeling beside her, his voice uncharacteristically gentle as he tied on of his belts around her leg. She nodded, looking up at him with a mix of gratitude and exhaustion. "Thanks for coming back for me."
He shrugged, but there was a softness in his eyes.

The memory faded, and Y/N found herself back on the plane, the steady hum of the engines replacing the echoes of the past. She glanced around at the faces of The Boys, each one focused on the mission ahead. She felt a renewed sense of purpose, a reminder of why she had joined them.
M.M. caught her eye from across the cabin, giving her a reassuring nod. She returned it with a small smile. The private plane landed in a secluded airstrip in Russia under the cover of night.
The Boys, along with Y/N, moved swiftly through the dense forest surrounding the remote facility where they believed the weapon that killed Soldier Boy was hidden. The facility loomed ahead, a monolithic structure guarded by heavily armed soldiers and state-of-the-art security systems.
Butcher led the way, his eyes sharp and focused. "Alright, stay close and keep it quiet. We don’t want to alert the whole damn place." They approached the facility’s perimeter, M.M. disabling the security cameras and motion sensors with expert precision.
They slipped inside, navigating the labyrinthine corridors with a mix of stealth and speed. But their luck didn’t hold for long. As they rounded a corner, they came face-to-face with a squad of Russian soldiers. For a moment, time seemed to freeze.
Then, chaos erupted. Butcher was the first to react, launching himself at the nearest soldier with a fierce battle cry. His fists connected with brutal efficiency, taking the soldier down before he could raise his weapon.
The sound of gunfire exploded around them as the rest of the squad sprang into action. Y/N used her powers to create a force field, deflecting bullets and giving The Boys a chance to take cover. She felt the familiar rush of adrenaline, her senses sharpening as the fight intensified.
Frenchie and Kimiko moved as a deadly pair, Frenchie’s precise gunfire complemented by Kimiko’s lethal hand-to-hand combat skills. Hughie, still relatively new to the chaos of battle, ducked behind a crate, his heart pounding.
He peeked out, firing his weapon at the soldiers, hitting one in the leg and causing him to drop his gun. M.M. took advantage of the opening, charging forward and disarming the soldier with a swift, practiced move. He turned, his eyes scanning the room for the next threat.
"Y/N, cover us!" Butcher shouted, taking down another soldier with a vicious uppercut. Y/N nodded, focusing her energy to create a larger shield, pushing back the advancing soldiers. She could feel the strain, but she held her ground, giving The Boys the chance to regroup and counterattack.
As the fight raged on, they moved deeper into the facility. The corridors echoed with the sounds of battle, gunfire, shouts, and the clash of metal. They fought their way through waves of soldiers, each skirmish bringing them closer to their goal.
Finally, they reached a heavily reinforced door at the heart of the facility. Butcher and M.M. worked quickly to breach the door, using a combination of explosives and brute force. The door blew open with a deafening blast, revealing a dark, cold chamber beyond.
They stepped inside, weapons raised, ready for anything. The room was dimly lit, the walls lined with strange, high-tech equipment. In the centre a large, metal cryogenic chamber, Butcher ripped the door off.
"Bloody hell," Butcher muttered, lowering his weapon slightly.
Y/N stepped forward, her eyes wide with a mix of shock and recognition. She froze for a second, unable to believe her eyes. There he was...Soldier Boy encased in the cryogenic chamber.
The gas began to dissipate, and the machinery hissed as he torn the bands that had its grip on him. Ben’s eyes fluttered open, and he tumbled out of the container, gasping for air. "Ben!" Y/N shouted, rushing forward to catch him before he hit the ground.
She knelt beside him, her arms around his shoulders, steadying him as he struggled to regain his balance. For a brief moment, their eyes met. She saw confusion and recognition flicker in his eyes, but it quickly turned to something darker rage.
His expression twisted with fury, and his body began to glow. "Ben, it’s me, Y/N," she pleaded, her voice filled with desperation. But her words didn’t seem to reach him. The radiation started to build, the air around him crackling with energy.
Before Y/N could react, Kimiko lunged forward, pushing her aside just as a blast of radiation erupted from Ben’s body. The force of the blast sent through the wall. The smoke and debris settled slightly, revealing Ben staggering through the chaos, his steps heavy and disoriented.
His chest still glowed with residual energy, and he seemed to be in a daze, not fully aware of his surroundings. Ben, stop!" Y/N cried, her voice breaking with emotion. She took a step forward, her heart aching at the sight of him in such a state. but he walked away.
As they returned to America, Y/N's mind was filled with a tumult of emotions. They had narrowly escaped Russia, but Kimiko's injuries weighed heavily on her. She watched as Butcher spoke to the team, his tone gruff and dismissive.
"Soldier Boy isn't our problem," he said, his words cutting through the air. Y/N felt a surge of anger and frustration rise, she wanted to stay and find him. But she understood Kimiko needed help. “Why would he do that?” Hughie asked.
Y/N’s mind drifted away.

It was a late night, the night before the announcement of Payback as Soldier Boy's new team. Y/N had returned home after a long day of training, only to find Ben sitting on her couch, a bottle of whiskey in hand and a weary expression on his face.
She couldn’t help but be annoyed at the sight of him. "What on earth are you doing here?" she asked, her voice mingled with concern. Ben shrugged, taking a swig from the bottle. "Figured you owed me one since I saved that pretty little ass of yours."
Y/N rolled her eyes, "Fine. What's wrong?" As she settled onto the couch beside him, she couldn’t help but notice the sadness in his eyes, the weight of the world on his shoulders. "What’s eating you, Ben?" she asked, her tone gentle.
Ben sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm a fucking disappointment" he said, his voice tinged with bitterness. “What?” Y/N asked before she listened as he opened up about his father’s abuse, the years of torment and neglect.
Ben's father was a formidable presence in his life, but not in the way a father should be. He was a hard man, cold and unyielding, his words like knives cutting into Ben's fragile sense of self-worth.
From a young age, Ben was subjected to his father's wrath, enduring physical and emotional abuse that left scars both seen and unseen. His father's beatings were brutal and frequent, leaving Ben battered and bruised, his spirit broken.
But it was the words that cut the deepest, the constant reminders of his perceived failures, the insults hurled at him like daggers. He was called weak, a disappointment, a disgrace to the family name.
For years, Ben internalized his father's harsh judgments, believing himself to be unworthy of love or respect. He built walls around his heart, his rough exterior a shield against the pain and rejection he had endured for so long.
He learned to bury his emotions deep, to keep people at arm's length, lest they see the vulnerability he tried so desperately to hide.
Y/N had seen glimpses of Ben's pain before, but it wasn't until that night, when he had opened up to her about his father, that she truly understood the depth of his suffering. She saw the scars, both physical and emotional, that his father had left behind.
She saw the pain etched into his features, the vulnerability he rarely showed to anyone else. And in that moment, she understood him in a way she hadn’t before. "Why did you put up with it?" she asked, her voice soft.
Ben shook his head, a bitter laugh escaping him. "It’s not that simple, Y/N. You don’t just walk away from family, no matter how screwed up they are." Y/N reached out, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"You’ve got people who care about you, you know that right?" As their eyes met, and Y/N saw something flicker in Ben's gaze, a mix of emotions surged within her.
But before she could fully process them, Ben leaned in, his intention clear. His lips moved towards hers, seeking solace in the warmth of the moment. Y/N's heart raced, her instincts conflicting with her emotions. As his lips hovered inches from hers, her fingers landed gently on his lips, halting his advance.
"Ben," she murmured softly, her voice tinged with regret. "This isn't a good idea." She had thought about this moment before, wondered what it would be like to be with him. But now, with him drunk and high on who knows what, she couldn't bring herself to take advantage of him in this vulnerable state.
It wouldn't be fair to either of them. Ben's expression shifted from longing to confusion, then to frustration. He pulled away abruptly, his eyes clouded with anger and hurt. "Fine," he muttered, his voice thick with emotion. "Your loss."
Y/N watched him go, her heart heavy with regret. She knew she had made the right choice, but that didn't make it any easier to see him walk away. She never wanted to hurt him.

As she heard MM talking to Frenchie and Kimiko she looked over. Seeing how badly Kimiko was hurt.
Knowing she needed to find Ben ASAP before he hurts anymore people.

GodU had always been your parents' dream. they held such high and heavy hopes for you. their perfect little superhero. a future member of the seven. when you were younger, you hated the idea. you felt... exploited. they forced this life onto you. gave you compound V and for what? so you could become some clog in a corporate machine? help sell merchandise for Vought? but as you got older and realised that you were kinda stuck with your powers, you felt more obligated to follow through with their dream. to actually be a hero. so you applied for Godolkin University. got in. and became a crime-fighting major. that is how you met Jordan Li. They were much stronger than you would ever be. both physically and mentally. the ability to shift between two forms gave them two separate skill sets all wrapped up in one identity. and they were so confident in their identity. not always a boy. not always a girl. just so confidently themselves. and you admired them so much. They were truly the strongest person you knew or at least you thought so.
it was a weird moment shrouded in the darkness of night. you were shaking a little from rage or the cold, you couldn't quite tell. everything was so incredibly fucked. Marie's roommate had gone missing because of some stupid plan of Andre's imagining. you just found out that there was some weird hospital under the school that was experimenting on people; including Sam, Luke's brother who was apparently still alive and in fact did not commit suicide. not to mention Luke was still gone. he used to give some great advice. used to kick your ass in sparring sessions but would occasionally let you win just to keep you on your toes. he was your friend. and you missed him a lot. you could never understand what happened; or why it happened. All these mysteries were piling up like old comic books. so many chapters to one confusing story that if you missed a single issue it became almost impossible to follow. this was impossible to follow. everyone was arguing. people were taking sides. Marie wanted to find Emma, who had infiltrated the woods, to help Andre who was trying to save the kids trapped down there. Jordan was more pissed about rankings than tortured kids. Cate wanted everyone to just back up and not do anything reckless. you wanted to yell at them. you knew rankings were important to Jordan. they wanted to be the best. at least Cate was worried about not dying. your parents' words hang heavy on your shoulders. this was your chance to do some good. to live up to their dreams without becoming just another vought puppet.
"don't you want to be a hero?" your voice is loud. louder than expected. the question was mainly aimed at Jordan. the person who went toe to toe with Golden Boy just to protect Marie; someone they hardly even knew at that point. that was after the club. you wish you could say you don't think about that night. everyone else seemed to just move on but it haunts your dreams. it's a cloudy memory of white powder and thick red liquid. "we almost killed someone."
there is a brief flash of something. Regret, maybe? before the expression turns dark and defensive. "we didn't do shit." and that was partly the problem. you didn't hold the weapon but you still ran. you left a woman to bleed out because you were too high. even sober, you wouldn't have been able to do much but you could have done something. anything. Nobody likes to talk about that day. the same way nobody talks about what went down with Luke. or how, if they had their way, nobody would talk about this weird hospital. If Cate and Jordan got their way, you'd just go back to school where all that mattered was who held that number one spot. currently andre. not Jordan.
"Exactly which is worse, if it wasn't for Marie we would have all been royally fucked." you articulate. irritation bubbling deep in your chest. "we can do some good here- we can help people."
"you're just gonna get yourself killed"
"at least I'm not running away again," you say. Jordan can make all the scooby doo references she wants but you wouldn't entertain the thought of leaving this down to Marie once again. "you wanna know why Andre is number one instead of you?"
"politics."
"because he is the only one person here who is trying to do something." You growl. "you're just a selfish asshole." if all they cared about was their ranking then you had to explain it in terms they'd understand. Their jaw tenses.
"Okay so what does that make you?" they spit. a particular venom dripping from their tone. "I've helped people- actually saved people. can you say the same?" they ask. "you're basically scared of your own shadow."
"Jordan don't."
"no," they interrupt Cate before she can continue. "I may be selfish for not wanting to go on some stupid suicide mission but when you realise what's really at stake here, don't come crying to me." Jordan's words hang heavy in the air, how do you even reply to that? your mouth opens but nothing comes out so you just walk away. Leaving your friends to continue arguing.
a bitter flavour lingers in your mouth. a painful feeling concealed deep inside your chest. you can't control how others perceive you but is that really how Jordan sees you? some coward who ran to them whenever things got tough? maybe they were right. you were no hero. you may have superpowers. you may spend hours studying techniques and training in the gym but that's just school. it didn't mean anything. You had never saved the day. you had never actually done anything. you haven't spoken to Jordan. Not since that night. they had texted a few times but you haven't even opened them. you don't want anything to do with them right now but you'd be lying if you said you didn't miss them. you missed them a lot. nobody knew about your situation with Jordan. you had both decided to keep it on the down low while you figured stuff out. and with everything going on, it had just never been the right time.
a knock at the door. you don't bother getting out of the bed you had been rotting in for hours; staring up at the ceiling as the sun went down and darkness enveloped the room. another knock. you bury yourself deeper in your duvet but the knocking doesn't stop. it just gets louder. a loud groan as you roll out of bed. your roommate was always forgetting their key but when the door opens, your stomach sinks. it wasn't your roommate. you instantly close the door.
"Seriously,"
"fuck off," you yell back. they knock again. yanking open the door, you spy Jordan Li once again. femme. sweaty. gym gear. duffel bag hanging off their shoulder. "fuck off," you push on the door again but they slap their hand against it.
"Just give me a chance," they probably just wanted to yell at you some more and you weren't in the mood. you shove harder. "I could stand here all night." your brow creases. Jordan probably would too. they're very persistent. with a heavy sigh, you relinquish pressure on the door and it swings open as they let themselves in.
"what do you want?" your eyes follow her as she drops the gym bag down and begins wandering around your room. they had been here before. They knew what it looked like. their hand slides over the wood of your desk. they pick up the open book, presumably glancing over the content before dropping it back down. "Jordan."
"hm," they look at you almost perplexed. like they had been lost in their own little world.
"what do you want?" you request more firmly. they just stared back like it was a crazy thing to be asking. they drop back to lean against your desk. you're waiting for them to say something. anything. but their gaze just falls to the floor. you sigh softly, still loitering by the door. you would leave if this wasn't your room. "why are you here, Jordan?"
"I wanted to see you," their shoulders rise and fall. "everything is so fucked up. a hospital under the school like what the fuck?"
a secret hospital under the school was very messed up. you can't even imagine the things they get up to down there. also, Luke's brother was down there. that's why Emma went down in the first place before she disappeared. "yeah," you nod a little. "I guess."
"And Luke's brother being alive this whole time?" you wonder where this is going. you knew all this. you were there when everyone was arguing. your brow furrows a little.
"Can you get to the point?"
"well it's a little fucked isn't it?"
"You're being weird," you state. monitoring them carefully. they still wouldn't look at you but they did push up from the desk and towards the mini fridge.
"you got anything to drink?" they question, pulling it open.
"Jordan. leave."
"What?" they ask, still looking in your mostly empty little fridge.
"I said leave," you declare firmly. "I would like you to leave."
"why?"
"you know why." they sighed loudly, thrusting the fridge closed with a loud slap. "you don't get to just pretend nothing happened."
"I don't know why you're angry, you're the one who called me selfish." Jordan insists. "Said Andre was better than me."
"You are selfish. All you care about is your stupid ranking."
"It's not stupid," Jordan fires back. "It is important if I wanna get somewhere,"
"Who fucking cares," you groan "Like I get it, you wanna be a hero but this is way bigger than all that."
"And what are you gonna do exactly?" there's a bite behind her words. She's getting defensive. "Whats your plan to save the day Superman?"
"I don't..." you snap before trailing off to a much quieter tone. "know exactly,”
"It's a death wish,"
"We have to do something.”
“no, we don’t.” Jordan replies. “we don’t have to do anything. This is way above our pay grade.”
“of course, you’d say that,” you groan loudly. “can you leave now.”
"I-" They seem like they're about to bite back but they stop short. a tense jaw. they let it go. "I miss you, okay."
"I don't care," you did care. "leave." you yank open the door. For a beat, they seem taken aback but it rapidly fades. "now."
"just hear me out."
"no Jordan," you huff. "just go. I'm not arguing with you anymore."
they watch you for a second. "I don't want to argue" they clarify. "please?” there’s an unusual desperation in their voice. one you’ve never heard before. it builds a degree of sympathy amongst your anger. you let the door fall closed with a click.
“fine," you cross your arms over your chest "What do you want?"
"you were right," she declares softly. the statement alone takes you by surprise. Jordan? admitting she was wrong? you'd comically gasp if you weren't annoyed with them.
"I don't understand."
"I said you were right."
"No, I heard you," you explain. "look, Jordan-"
"I'm sorry, okay?" they reply sharply "I'm sorry."
"Sorry for what?"
"why are you making this so difficult?" Jordan asks. "I've apologised so can we just watch a movie or something?" you raise a curious brow. Surely they weren't naive enough to believe you would simply forgive them just like that? There was more to this story that they were avoiding.
"you can't be fucking serious," a humourless laugh. "you don't even really mean it."
"I do though."
"no you don't," you sigh. walking towards them. "look at me and apologise- apologise properly."
"Ugh, I already apologised," they groan loudly, pairing it with a roll of their eyes. It just annoys you even more. "why can't you just forgive me?"
"Because you don't even know why you're apologising," you stress. "it's half-baked. you don't mean it. and I'm tired so-”
"I'm fucking scared" they blurt out. "I'm scared."
A look of surprise; shock. Their very loud confession caught you off guard. Jordan Li wasn't scared of anything. They’d made that bold claim a great many times. "of what?"
"of losing you," they yell back; their hands come up to run slowly over their face. Their hair becomes shorter. They physically grow taller. Shielded by his fingertips, it's pretty apparent that he shouldn't have said that or at least hadn't meant to. You don't know what to say; your head tilts slightly to one side. how do you respond to that? it still wasn't technically an apology. "for fuck sake."
"of losing me?" you recite slowly. "why would you lose me?"
"Because you're an idiot," they urge. "who wants to help people."
"dude."
"Sorry but like it's true. you're a fucking idiot," they repeat. "and I admire that."
"I'm... confused," you mumble softly.
"I admire how much you wanna help people despite knowing it’s stupid and you're probably gonna die" You can't tell if Jordan is just oblivious to what he was saying but it was far from getting him back in your good graces. "I wish I could be like that. naive enough to think I can make a difference."
"I feel like you're just insulting me," you comment.
they shrug a little. "I know this is still kinda new, the whole me and you thing but…” you can tell this is hard for them. expressing their feelings was not their strong suit. Their head hangs low. “it doesn’t matter,” they walk towards you but instead veer off towards their bag. you reach out for them; taking their hand. they were running hot, a sweaty hand.
“you can tell me,” you express, a gentle squeeze. “we’ve been friends for ages…”
“you’re just gonna call me selfish again.” their voice a whisper but they make no effort to pull away. You step closer.
“then you’ve got nothing to lose, right?” it’s a joke. a harmless one but they don’t laugh or even acknowledge it.
“I… I just don’t want you dying before we get a chance to really explore whatever this,” they use their free hand to motion between you. “is. so yeah, I lashed out because I like you or whatever and want you alive. sorry.” you watch them for a moment. their inability to meet your gaze. the light dusting of pink that graced their cheeks. it was really sweet if not a little unexpected. Jordan was so cool most of the time. it was a rarity to see them express such emotions. it makes you smile. you just laugh a little in amusement.
"Jordan," you say warmly. "you're not gonna lose me," you step even closer, reaching for their other hand; running your thumb over their knuckles. "I understand what you're saying but I don't think it's reason enough not to help,"
"I know," the express softly, finally meeting your gaze. there is something unspoken behind those eyes but you choose not to push. “I wish it was.”
you keep your eyes on there’s taking in this tender moment. a moment of vulnerability. a moment of connection. you relish in the way their hands fit so comfortably in yours. you really liked Jordan. liked their attitude. admired their strength. wished for their sense of loyalty. you were so smitten. so lucky to be their chosen person. a smile settles before you slowly lean in. It catches them off guard but they soon settle into it. “I’m scared too,” whispered against their lips. "but I think the bravest thing we can do is try anyway.“ his eyes flutter closed, letting his forehead fall against yours.
"I didn't mean it when I called you a coward," Jordan whispers, his eyes open. Lingering on yours. “You’re the bravest person I know.”
"I am a coward," you express. "I've always wanted to be a hero. it's all my parents want. but I'm scared. terrified. I never could have fought Luke like you did. but I wanna try now. I want you to try too," you ghost their lips. It's subtle; intimate. "if you really wanna protect me, Jordan, you'd help because I'm doing this with or without you."
"do I have to decide right now?" they ask quietly. You're almost disappointed by their reply but you can't really blame them. This wasn't another student hero gone rogue. This was a whole institution willing to do anything to keep its secrets. "do you forgive me?"
"do you forgive me?"
"I was never mad at you,"
"I was mad at you." you declare.
"I know," they nod. "you weren't exactly subtle about it." their expression becomes playful and bright; a strong contrast from the conversation you were just having. You can't help but smile as you pull back.
"do you wanna stay over tonight?" there's a shift in the air. all that tension fading away. you're not mad. you're not thrilled either. but you liked Jordan. a lot. and you could understand their desire to protect you. In a way, it was very sweet. You didn't realise how much they liked you. "we could watch that movie? or Property Brothers? whatever you want."
"Whatever I want, huh?" their hands vacate yours and instead move to your hips. Pulling you close. ever so close. pressing their body ever so slightly into yours "Anything at all?" masc! Jordan was taller than their male counterpart but far less intimidating. firmer. gentler. it’s a rather present contrast.
"you're such a perv,"
"you don't even know what I was gonna say," they insist.
"Anyone with half a brain could figure it out," you tease. their hands slip around to the small of your back pulling you flush against them. playing into your words. "but what Jordan wants. Jordan gets." whispered in their ear, you place a gentle kiss upon their cheek. "right?"
you can feel them practically shudder against you. A heavy sigh left their lips. "oh she wants to play tonight?" all signs of sincerity washed away by something darker. desire. you meet their eyes, lips quirk up into a smirk before they lean in once more. it’s ever so light but you’re quick to deepen the kiss; chasing that warmth that spills through your veins but they pull away instead. mischief laces their expression. their fingers sliding under the hem of your shirt. they pull back just enough to murmur, “I’m gonna make you beg for it,” their words hot against your ear. A shiver spills down your spine as you lean into them; wanting to be closer. As close as possible as they guide you back towards your bed.
it's safe to say you're smitten with the infamous Jordan Li. and when it comes down to it you're delighted when you're together. they bring out a more mischievous side of you. and you like to think you bring out a more vulnerable side of them. You shuffle further into their embrace. Basking in the feeling of their arms around you as you hide from the rising sun peeking through the blinds. A content hum as you drift in and out of consciousness. Still so early. You feel them lean more into you.
"what the fuck," a voice drags you to the land of the living. And as your tired eyes flutter open, your friends stare back. Both you and Jordan shoot up, instantly breaking any contact. Pulling the covers up to hide the fact you were both very naked. Marie stands at the end of your bed; wide eyes and a slightly agape mouth. Cate and Andre are just by the door. how the fuck did they even get in? "we should- sorry," you watch Marie scramble for the door shoving Andre out just as Cate yanks him.
you both fall back down in unison. If anyone had seen it would almost seem planned. After a moment, you roll back into them. giggling into the crook of their neck. after a moment you nip the skin. "guess we're not a secret anymore," muttered against their skin.
"This isn't funny."
"it kinda is," you shrug "Quite the shock for those three." A giggle before you sink your teeth into her neck earning yourself a satisfied sigh but they're quick to push you away. A stern look on their face
"you agreed it was best we didn't tell everyone until all this craziness was over."
"yeah but don't you feel just a little relieved," you ask. You can practically see the gears turning in their head. It's... Cute. You move so that you're now straddling them, hands drifting delicately over their chest. Their skin is so warm; and soft. Their short bob is a mess against your pillow. they looked so peaceful. so beautiful. A strip of yellow sunlight reflected off their chain. "I'm glad everyone knows now. plus," you smile mischievously. "now I can kiss you whenever I want. " You lean down slowly and place your lips against hers. "and that's all I want," mumbled against their lip.
"I guess it is one less thing to worry about," they muse, bringing their hands up to rest against your hips. her fingers apply just a little bit of pressure. you peck their lips once more before pulling away. a gentle tap on their nose, their face scrunches up.
"you shift in your sleep sometimes did you know that?"
"What?"
"you were definitely a guy when we fell asleep and then suddenly I'm snuggling up to a girl? is it like a conscious choice or?" they hesitate for a moment before playfully shoving you off them.
"shut up,"
"ow!!" you groan dramatically, falling down against the bed. "ow. that hurt so much. I'm in so much pain. how could you be so mean," you groan loudly, shuffling about a little for dramatic effect.
"you’re so dramatic,” Jordan rolls their eyes but a mischievous grin spreads over their lips. “now get up we’re gonna be late.”
“for what?”
“class.” they sit up. a hand coming to settle on your stomach. you don’t move. and neither do they. and in those few seconds, everything feels at peace. “you really are beautiful,” they eventually say before finally getting out of bed.

So i hope its okay... Can i request arven penny nemona and kieran Meeting a pokemon Trainer that is basiclly Pokemon sword/shield MC and maybe hop or marni come to visit? Or it can just be Just the Trainer i wouldn't mind anyway here's the team
A inteleon is kinda like a big brother to the team but still is Sometimes mischevous
Zamazenta who May look cold but is essentialy a big puppy
Gerdevoir who kinda has a sibling like rivaly with with salazle on who's stronger
Salazle who is a little diva but both her or gardevoir will beat you up if you insult the other
And a sylveon and glaceon who are like peas in a pod and will go out to defend the other if something happend
Anyway you don't have to write it if you don't want to since its kinda long and have a good day/night 💜💛
Arven
Apparently saving a region from an ecological crisis wasn't your first rodeo..as you've done this in Galar too.
After sharing stories of how you became champion, prevented Chairman Rose from causing a second "Darkest Day" with Eternatus, revived the Hero Duo (with Zamazenta being living proof), etc...Arven's fully convinced you need a vacation.
Funny enough, Paldea was meant to be your fresh start and a way to begin your studies like a normal kid.
But of course that didn't happen.
Facing the Titan Pokémon together reminds you of the Dynamaxed ones, but you thanked Arceus they weren't that gigantic nor have any brutal G-Max moves.
When it comes to food, Arven learns you can make a mean curry dish, often trading each other recipes.
In fact, you've made so many types that your team is just happy to eat whatever you've cooked up.
Speaking of which..your current team is the same one from Galar. You decided they were ready for a new adventure in a new region by your side.
Inteleon, once a timid Sobble, tended to sneak bites of curry/sandwiches from the others, but otherwise acts like a cool older brother to your team.
His Snipe Shot is deadly and he lowkey missed being able to Gigantamax, although he likes how flashy he becomes when terastalized.
Zamazenta actually enjoys belly rubs, discovering this only after witnessing Arven give Mabosstiff pets on the stomach.
Gardevoir and Salazzle have been rivals since they were a Ralts and Salandit, having a few sparring matches during camps/picnics.
But trust they will BOTH go on the offense if anyone dared hurt the other. Arven witnessed this firsthand down in Area Zero when an Iron Hands attacked Salazzle with a ground move, and Gardevoir's Moonblast absolutely destroyed it.
Finally, Sylveon and Glaceon were two inseparable Eevees. You couldn't catch one without taking the other with you, and ever since then they've stuck together like glue, even evolving at the same time.
When Hop and Marni visited you in Paldea (whether to just travel or study abroad), Arven gets a little jealous that they were your friends before he was..but learns to get along with them.
Penny
Assuming she was studying abroad in Galar (after ditching Team Star) when the events of SWSH took place, she definitely would have seen your face around social media and on nearly ever TV station.
She knew you defeated Leon in the championship.
But she NEVER would've guessed it was you who also stopped the second Darkest Day from happening--and quelled Eternatus, of all things.
It was like you were the protagonist of some epic anime, doing all this heroic stuff yet being so casual when talking about it to her, Arven, and Nemona.
But she wants to hear all about your adventures!
Even though she was a little jealous you did all these cool things while she had to continue her studies.
She's thrilled to meet your Sylveon and Glaceon, finding their strong bond to be sweet and similar to her own Eeveelutions.
If you went to Crown Tundra, she immediately asks if you met her father and apologizes on his behalf if he was too overbearing.
But you amuse her with the story of how Calyrex kept temporarily possessing his body to speak to you.
The first time you brought out Zamazenta, Penny was a little intimidated by the way it looked at her menacingly...
Until it does the same thing Miraidon/Koraidon did to her during Operation Starfall:
And that is tackle her in kisses and icky wolf slobber.
She wonders why all your Legendaries do this to her..
Underneath the gruff, tough, and battle-hardened appearance, it turns out that it's really just a giant puppy longing to be spoiled like a Growlithe.
Nemona
Right from the get-go, she knew you were Galar's most recent champion and wanted to see how you fight.
Of course, that meant you had to adapt from the Dynamaxed battles you were so accustomed to and get used to Terastalized battles instead.
But you're a quick learner.
In fact your Inteleon, despite being at a disadvantage against her Pawmot, still managed to sweep half her team.
Sometimes you'll have your Paldea starter in your party in place of Zamazenta, but when you brought the shield wolf out for the first time during a picnic...Nemona was in awe.
"So THIS is one of the legendary heroes that Ms. Raifort taught us about????" She gawks, especially as you bring out the rusted shield and let it transform.
Penny made a good point: you may as well be a modern-day hero of Galar yourself!
She also wanted to hear all about your trials and tribulations with the gym challenge, having seen your battle on television and how Leon congratulated you for winning the championship.
Ngl it made her tear up the first time she rewatches it with you, proud of how you were still eager to finish it even though the Second Darkest Day interrupted the match and almost destroyed the whole region.
It lowkey made her feel bad when you, her, and the others had to go down to Area Zero and prevent another disaster that would've also unleashed dangerous Pokémon all across the region...
Yeah, you definitely needed a break and a chance to feel like a normal trainer.
And what better way to do that than to battle Nemona again and again?
Kieran
When you first met in Kitakami, you never struck him as the type to be Galar's Champion (as well as its savior from the second Darkest Day--the first one being an event he read about in books).
It's not something you liked to brag about anyways. So you downplayed your experiences while talking to him during the signboard project.
All he knew was that you lived in Galar and participated in the gym challenge. That's it.
Only when you show up to BB Academy does he overhear people talking about you like you're some celebrity, and he realizes you've been keeping even more secrets from him...
"Did you hear?? The Galar Champion is joining the league club!"
"I heard they reawakened Zacian and Zamazenta! They brought the heroes of Galar back to life!"
He refuses to believe it up until the moment you two battle, where Gardevoir and Salazzle worked incredibly well together, before you sent out Zamazenta near the very end.
Ofc Kieran is FURIOUS, screaming about how you lied to him yet again and "never changed".
"You told me you were just a normal kid from Galar...WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU BEEN KEEPING FROM ME?!!"
It's so unfair. You're hailed as a hero in a different region, you held two (and eventually three) champion titles, AND you have Zamazenta on your side...while he's a nobody from Kitakami who gave up so much and worked so hard--only to realize he'll never be even half as great as you.
How could he ever be like you with so many achievements under your belt?
But after you two become friends again (with you apologizing for not fully telling him the truth about yourself), Hop called you in hopes of visiting the academy's Terarium to research the Pokémon there.
You introduce him to Kieran, and they have a long chat about their rivalry with you.
Things get a little awkward when Hop rambles about his constant losses against you and his desires to become stronger (plus his struggle to step out of Leon's shadow), only to find his true calling as a professor in the end.....before asking Kieran how he coped.
"...oh um...I-I didn't really cope that well. I got jealous and bitter and..let's just say I wasn't very nice to [y/n]." He mutters, feeling ashamed.
"Awh really? But you seem like a nice chap now!" Your Galarian rival/friend tries cheering him up, although he understood his pain and felt that same humiliation several times before.
But Kieran did learn a thing or two from him, just like he did from Nemona. Battling was still his calling, but he forgot how to have fun with it, and he needed that reminder.
He mentions trading you an Applin, and Hop does a spit-take, asking if he knew what that meant (or if you told him).
If so, then he congratulates you both on your new relationship.
If not, then you let Kieran google it on your rotomphone...
Before he buries his face into Zamazenta's fur a few seconds later, trying to hide his worsening blush while you and Hop just laugh.

Lan Wangji is standing next to his brother as he makes small talk with Nie Mingjue – their closeness had never really recovered after the war, despite Xichen’s best efforts and Jin Guangyao’s lukewarm ones – when a Jin servant steps to his side and whispers, “Your wife is requesting your presence in Lady Jiang’s sitting room.”
Even as quietly as he’d spoken, Xichen and Nie Mingjue had obviously heard him. Xichen frowns. “Is she alright?”
Her injuries had been superficial and mostly healed. But Lan Wangji had seen the exhaustion that she didn’t want to admit to and said nothing, because they’d already gotten into one fight today and he understood pride well enough. Perhaps he should have insisted.
The servant lowers his eyes. “Apologies, Sect Leader Lan. I have only been instructed to escort Master Lan.”
“Excuse me,” he says, dipping his head to Nie Mingjue and falling into step with the servant. His pace is unhurried, which Lan Wangji tries to find reassuring. If something was wrong, surely they would be moving with more urgency.
He sees Jiang Cheng first and has to keep his lip from curling back in distaste. He’s ducked his head to speak with Jiang Yanli, the two of them standing outside of her rooms, but they both cut off their conversation when they see him. He bows shallowly to Jiang Yanli, ignoring Jiang Cheng completely. “Madame Jin. Is-“
“She’s fine,” she says, but the tension around her eyes and the strain in her smile tells a different story. “Please go in, Lan Wangji.”
He pushes the door open, closing it behind him, and at least he doesn’t have to look far for her. “Are you hurt?”
Xuanyu looks up at him, a faint redness in her eyes that speaks of tears. She’s dressed much like she was when he first met her, back in the Jin gold and cream and her hair turned sleek and pulled in hairstyle that’s half up in a braided bun on top of head and the rest of her hair flowing freely. It’s a Jiang hairstyle, one that Jiang Yanli used to wear when they were younger. The hair ornament in Xuanyu’s hair is Jiang Yanli’s as well.
The only Lan thing on her is her forehead ribbon, and it startles him with how out of place it looks, while Jiang and Jin seem to blend seamlessly. It causes something to twist uncomfortably in his chest, but he ignores it to repeat, “Are you hurt?”
“Sit down,” she says, gesturing to the place at the table across from her. He takes the seat next to her instead, looking her over for some sort of new injury or pain, but he can’t find anything amiss. “Ah, okay. Okay. So.”
He waits, but she just twists her hands together, occasionally reaching up to touch her hair and then realizing that with this new hair style it’s not where she expects it, and lowers her hands.
“Did something happen?” he asks.
She starts to shake her head then gives a jerky nod. “I – I – I’m. Yanli-jie’s healer came to see me.”
The stab of worry is almost becoming familiar when it comes to Xuanyu, but that doesn’t make it any more comfortable. “Are you ill? Have your injuries worsened?”
She shakes her head, and it should be a relief, but instead his worry just deepens. “No, no. It’s. Um. Not – I. It’s just that – well. You know. In the cold spring. And then the wall. And the bed.”
It takes him a moment but then heat flushes his cheeks. She is referring to when he became inebriated and took her. “Did I hurt you?”
She had said that it was not the type of hurt that was unwelcome or lingered and she’d never flinched away from him. But it was a first time for both of them and he barely remembers what he did and at the time he was significantly stronger than her and she was still injured from their spar. It’s entirely possible he harmed her in some way.
“No!” She bites her lip, staring at him with an intensity that he doesn’t understand. “Wangji, dammit, are you really going to make me say it?”
“If you wish me to understand, then you’re going to have to,” he says, worry and guilt pushing him to his own frustration.
Xuanyu blinks several times, and he’s about to apologize, but then she says, “I’m pregnant.”
He stares.
“From when we – you know – obviously,” she says. “So. Yeah.”
His eyes drop to her stomach. Several things snap into place at once but he can’t focus on any of them beyond the roar in his ears and the acid churning in his stomach.
He is no better than his father.
Xuanyu is his wife not by choice but circumstances out of her control and she had never wanted him and even if she enjoyed that night, he had lost his senses and demanded what she hadn’t offered freely, not even doing her the courtesy of taking the care to spill outside of her. Now his child grows inside her, pinning her in place and shackling her as his mother was shackled.
“Wangji?” she asks, voice concerningly high pitched. “Say something.”
“I’m sorry.”
She goes perfectly still except for where she’s gripping her robe above her knees. “Oh.”
“I never intended,” he starts but the lump in his throat makes it difficult to get anything else out. Instead he gets to his feet, bows to her, and is pushing out of the room as quickly as his feet can carry him.
Everything is too hot and too close and he can’t breathe. He needs to get outside. He needs to think.
“Hey!” Jiang Cheng shouts as he rushes past, but his voice softens as he says, “Oh, shit.”
It’s too bright and too close and too loud and he has no patience for Jiang Cheng even at his best and he just needs – he needs –
“Wangji?” Xichen grabs his elbow as he’s headed for the exit, eyes wide and concerned. “Is she – what’s wrong with Lady Xuanyu?”
“I,” he starts, and still can’t make himself speak. He pulls himself out of his grip and continues for the door. He hears his brother make his apologies to whoever he’d been speaking to and then his presense at his back, following him out.
He’ll probably be grateful for that when his head clears, but for now it’s too full of panic and shame and a bitter self hatred he hasn’t felt this intently since he’d lost Wei Wuxian.
“I know somewhere private,” Xichen says softly as soon as they’re outside, the lungful of fresh air not nearly as clarifying as he’d hoped it’d be. “Come.”
He follows his brother, focuses on breathing, and not why it feels like he can’t get enough air despite how greedily he sucks it in.

You sat on a log overlooking the river that ran through the village, watching Henrik, Gerda and Kol spar, their swords flashing in the sunlight. You couldn't help but notice how fast Henrik was getting, how his blows were stronger, more accurate. You knew he would soon surpass his brothers, he had the heart and the drive to become a great warrior.
Gerda was completely enraptured with him, her eyes following his every move, her heart clearly taken by the young boy. And it was clear to see that he returned her affections, what they had gone through together had created an unbreakable bond.
You could see the change in him, how his eyes lit up when he saw her, how his voice became softer, gentler, how he looked at her with such devotion, such tenderness. It reminded you of the way Elijah looked at you.
Kol went to strike Gerda, but she easily parried the blow, her sword connecting with his. You watched as Henrik moved in, his blade slicing through the air, cutting across Kol's arm.
"Ow," Kol said, his voice mockingly hurt, a mischievous grin spreading across his face, "that hurts little brother,"
"I told you not to let your guard down," Henrik said, his tone serious, his eyes focused, "never get distracted,"
"Well, well," Kol replied, his tone playful, his eyes dancing, "you've gotten better,"
The sound of twigs crunching behind you drew your attention. You turned to see Elijah approaching, sitting down on the log next to you. He subtly took your hand in his, his eyes searching yours, you leaned against him, savoring the moment of peace, letting the warmth of his body comfort you.
It had been a few weeks since your return to the village, and you still hadn't worked up the courage to tell Elijah you were with child. You knew he would tell Niklaus immediately, and would insist on marrying you. His noble heart wouldn't allow anything less.
You were starting to show, your breasts becoming fuller, your belly beginning to swell. You had taken to wearing loose dresses, hiding your pregnancy from the rest of the village, keeping it a secret from everyone, even though the guilt ate at you.
"Are you alright?" Elijah asked, his eyes searching yours, his brow furrowed, a look of concern etched across his handsome features.
"I'm fine," you said, mustering a smile, trying to reassure him, "I just have a lot on my mind,"
"What is troubling you, ástin mín?" Elijah asked, his thumb gently caressing your hand, the warmth of his touch always so comforting.
You wanted to tell him, you had planned a thousand different ways, but the words wouldn't come out, the fear of what Niklaus would do, stopping you.
You could see the concern in his eyes, the love he had for you, the intensity of his gaze causing your breath to hitch.
"I..."
"Brother! Y/n! What a pleasant surprise," Niklaus's voice boomed, startling the both of you. You quickly withdrew your hand, a blush creeping onto your cheeks, a nervous energy settling over you.
Niklaus walked towards you, a wide grin plastered on his face, but his eyes cold, devoid of emotion. He took a seat on the other side of you, his presence filling the space, his body pressed against yours.
"Such a fine morning," Niklaus said, his voice light, his gaze meeting yours, the smile not reaching his eyes, "don't you agree, y/n?"
"Yes," you replied, your tone hesitant, your body stiff, your unease growing, "it's beautiful,"
Henrik came running up, sword in hand, a wide grin on his face. His clothes soaked with sweat, his hair sticking to his forehead, a wild look in his eyes.
"Will you spar with me Elijah? Please," Henrik pleaded, his expression hopeful, his eyes bright.
"I'm sorry Henrik, but he's still recovering," You began to protest, but Niklaus stopped you, his hand resting on your thigh.
"Nonsense!” Niklaus said, his voice firm, his grip on your thigh tightening, "she fusses something awful about you brother, always fretting,"
"I just don't want him to strain himself," You protested, your voice trembling, "his wounds are not healed,"
"I'm fine," Elijah replied, his gaze shifting between the two of you, his expression guarded, his brow furrowed, "My scars just make things...difficult,"
"See? Now go, spar with our little brother, I'll look after my betrothed," Niklaus said, a sly smirk on his face.
"As you wish," Elijah said, a look of concern in his eyes, before he took Henrik's hand, "come, show me what you've learned,"
"I've missed you," Niklaus whispered in your ear, his voice low, his eyes burning into yours, "I've been so preoccupied with attending to our new home, I've forgotten to check in on you,"
"I've been fine," you replied, your voice shaking, a lump forming in your throat, "you didn't have to worry,"
"I see my family has kept you company," he said, a dark edge to his voice, his gaze hardening, "they're quite protective of you,"
"I love them as if they are my own," you said, a small smile forming on your lips, your mind turning to Henrik, to Kol, to Rebekah, "they mean everything to me,"
"That is good to hear," Niklaus said, his voice barely above a whisper, his eyes searching yours, "I think it's time, don't you?"
"Time for what?" you asked softly.
"Time to begin planning our wedding," Niklaus said, his hand moving to cup the back of your neck, his grip tightening, "the sooner the better, I'd say,"
"Niklaus," you began, your voice trailing off, you didn't know what to say, how to respond.
"I think we've waited long enough," he said, his tone still artificially light, a strange glint in his eyes, "there has been so much darkness over our families lately, let's have something good, something to celebrate,"
You looked in the direction of Gerda and the Mikaelsons sparring. Henrik and Elijah were facing each other, their swords clashing, their movements graceful and fluid. Gerda was on Kol's shoulders, screaming and laughing as he spun them around. This was everything you ever wanted, your family safe, happy, together.
You looked back to Niklaus, his eyes still locked on yours, his gaze intense. He was waiting for an answer, his hand now gripping your neck tighter.
"Yes," you said, your voice low, your mind racing, "let's have a wedding,"
"That's my girl," he said, his tone triumphant, his hand releasing your neck, sliding down your shoulder, his fingers trailing along your arm. "Our parents would be so proud, their children finally united,"
"I can't wait," you said, the words tasting bitter, your stomach churning.
Niklaus's hand found yours, it was meant to be a sweet gesture, but the contact made you shudder, his touch foreign. He didn't touch you the way Elijah did, didn't make your body come alive, didn't set your soul on fire.
You tried to suppress the guilt, the shame, the fear, the sadness, you tried to bury it, hide it, but it was there, gnawing at you. The truth, the reality of the situation, hitting you, crushing you.
You had no choice, your fate, your destiny, was sealed.
Elijah hadn't seen you for days, the entire village caught up in wedding preparations. He had his own special duties to fulfill, as the eldest kin to the groom. He had arranged the feast, had made sure the finest meats and breads were cooked, and had overseen all the decorations.
The wedding was to happen that evening, and Elijah was dreading it.
The guilt and the shame weighed heavy on him, he felt as if he had betrayed his brother, betrayed you. He loved you, and he wanted nothing more than to marry you. But Niklaus was your betrothed, and as such, it was his decision, his right.
The thought of watching you pledge your love and loyalty to another man, made Elijah's heart ache, the pain almost unbearable. He was surely being punished by the gods, his sins catching up with him.
He thought back to six months ago, how he was overjoyed to learn his beloved brother would be marrying the girl of his dreams. How he had counseled Niklaus, how he had given him advice to win your heart.
Somehow, it seemed like a lifetime ago, the events of the last few months, changing everything.
He knew he needed to speak with you before the ceremony. Everything was happening so fast and he wanted to make sure this was what you truly wanted, that you had a say in your future.
His feet carried him towards the home where you were getting ready. The door was open and he could hear Gerda loudly complaining about how beautiful you were. He couldn't help but chuckle, her exuberance always brought a smile to his face.
As he approached the door, slowly pushing it all the way open, his eyes immediately landed on you.
You were dressed in a fine, cream colored gown, a wreath of flowers on top of your head. You looked radiant, your skin glowing, your eyes sparkling, a small smile tugging at the corners of your mouth.
Rebekah, Gerda and Tatia were sitting all around you, braiding pieces of your hair, weaving flowers in it. Everyone was laughing and smiling, the atmosphere joyous.
You turned towards him, your eyes locking, the smile instantly fading from your face, a sadness creeping into your gaze.
"Elijah," you said softly, your voice breaking, "what are you doing here?"
"I came to speak with you," he said, his eyes searching yours, his stomach knotting, "if I may?"
The girls all exchanged strange looks, it wasn't customary for the groom's brother to visit the bride before the wedding.
Tatia gave you a small nod, the look in her eyes, reassuring, a small smile forming on her lips. She stood and began herding the girls out the door, following them outside, closing the door behind her.
You stood and faced him, he looked as handsome as ever, his face clean shaven, his hair combed back, a fine tunic hanging off his broad shoulders.
He didn't have to say anything, you could read every emotion etched on his face, every word echoing in his eyes. You took a step closer, your fingers interlacing with his, pulling his hand up to rest against your chest, over your heart.
"You look so beautiful," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion, his gaze locked with yours, his hand gripping yours tightly, his pulse quickening.
"Elijah," you whispered back, your eyes searching his, your voice faltering, a lump forming in your throat, "I'm sorry,"
"No, no, no. None of that," he said, his voice tender, his free hand cupping your face, "you don't have to apologize."
"It's just... I fear what he will do if he finds out about us," you whispered, tears spilling down your cheeks, "there is a rage in him, I can see it in his eyes. And you're not fully healed," you placed your hand gently on his chest, where his scars were. You worried for him, worried for your child.
"Don't worry about me," he whispered, his hand caressing your cheek, his thumb brushing away your tears, "I can look after myself. All I want is for you to be happy. I never meant to hurt you,"
"You could never hurt me," you whispered, your gaze meeting his, "you saved me," you paused, your gaze dropping, the guilt rising in your chest, threatening to suffocate you, "and our child,"
"What?" Elijah gasped, his mind racing, trying to process what you had just said, "our child?"
You nodded slowly, a warm flush spreading over your skin, you took his hand and placed it on the swell hidden beneath your wedding dress. The look in his eyes was indescribable, his expression a mix of shock, wonder, and sorrow.
"You are with child?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, his mind trying to process what you had just said.
You nodded, unable to speak, your emotions overwhelming. You could see the battle raging inside him, his heart at war with his mind, his duty to his family, to his brother, fighting with his love for you.
"You should have told me," he said, his eyes searching yours, his mind working through the implications of your revelation.
"I know," you said, tears starting to spill down your cheeks, "I'm so sorry, I didn't know how to tell you, didn't know what to do,"
He wrapped his arms around you, his head resting on top of yours, his body tense. You closed your eyes and inhaled deeply, letting his familiar scent wash over you, calming you.
"I have to tell him," Elijah said, his voice strained, his hand coming up to rest on the back of your head, gently stroking your hair, "I cannot live with this secret,"
"He will kill you, and me," you protested, burying your face in his chest, tears soaking into his tunic, "please, don't say anything,"
"I cannot allow him to marry you, to claim you and the child as his own," Elijah said, his voice full of emotion, his gaze locked on you, "and if I die protecting you, then I will be welcomed in the great Halls of Valhalla. It would be a worthy death."
You nodded against his chest, your hands balling up the fabric of his tunic. He pulled back slightly, tilting your chin up, forcing you to meet his gaze.
"I love you," he said, his eyes full of tears, his voice breaking, "I always will,"
You stood on your toes, pressing your lips to his, kissing him softly, savoring the taste of him. You were so afraid of never kissing him again, never holding him, never being in his arms.
He broke the kiss, his forehead resting against yours, his breathing heavy. He placed both hands on your stomach, smiling as he felt the slight swell, his heart filled with pride and wonder.
"I will protect you and our child, no matter what," he whispered, his voice soft, his lips brushing against yours once more, "always and forever, ástin mín,"
"Y/n," a voice said from the doorway, startling both of you.
Gerda was standing in the doorway, a look of concern on her face, her eyes darting between the two of you.
"What's going on?" she asked, her brow furrowing, her eyes narrowing, her expression suspicious.
"Nothing," you said, mustering a smile, quickly wiping away your tears and stepping away from him.
"Do not lie to me systir," Gerda said, her tone serious, her eyes narrowing at Elijah, "what is happening?"
Elijah's eyes met yours, a silent conversation passing between the two of you. You gave him a small nod, he took your hand and gave it a kiss before leaving the house. You knew what he was going to do, that it was the only choice. That Niklaus would soon learn the truth. You just hoped it wouldn't cost him his life.
Your legs gave out and you sank to the floor. Tears were streaming down your face and your whole body was shaking. Fear coursed through your veins, but underneath it all you could feel a sense of relief. No more secrets, no more lies.
You put your head in your hands, sobbing uncontrollably. You couldn't believe what was happening. How had things spiraled so far out of control? A part of you wanted to run after Elijah and beg him not to go but you knew it was useless. His mind was made up. He had to tell Niklaus.
"Tell me," Gerda pleaded, crouching down beside you, she placed a comforting hand on your arm. "You can tell me anything,"
"You'll hate me," you sobbed, looking up at her through blurred eyes.
"I could never hate you," she said, her voice soft, her gaze never leaving yours.
You took a deep breath and began to tell her everything. Elijah saving you from the raid, your time together in the forest, training with him, your feelings for him, your affair, your child. It all came flooding out. The weight of the secret suddenly lifting, the relief palpable.
Your body felt heavy, exhausted, the emotional burden you'd been carrying for so long, suddenly gone.
Gerda's expression was unreadable. She was silent for a moment before her face broke out into a wide grin. "I'm going to be an aunt?"
You laughed, the joy and excitement on her face, warming your heart.
"Yes," you said, the smile falling from your lips, your anxiety returning. Gerda could see the fear and uncertainty on your face.
"Everything is going to be ok, we'll get through this," she said, holding your hand and giving it a gentle squeeze, "how far along are you?"
"Maybe two months or so," you said, your mind racing, your heart pounding, "it is too early to know,"
"Why didn't you tell me?" Gerda asked, her voice cracking, a small frown creasing her brow, "you have never kept anything from me,"
"I was scared," you whispered, tears starting to spill down your cheeks once more, "I did not want you to think ill of me,"
"Oh, systir," Gerda whispered, tears of her own forming in her eyes, she wrapped you up in her arms, her hand coming up to stroke your hair, "I could never think ill of you, I love you so much,"
The two of you just held each other, your fears and worries melting away in her embrace.
"Elijah," she said with a soft giggle, kissing you on the top of your head, "he reminds me of one of those valiant, chivalrous heroes in the tales you used to tell me," she began to rock you both gently back and forth, humming an old lullaby that your father used to sing.
You chuckled, wiping away your tears, nodding in agreement. You rested your head on her shoulder, taking a few deep breaths. Your body was still aching, your emotions all over the place, but you could feel some of the tension leave your body.
"Thank you, Gerda," you murmured, her comforting presence and calm words filling you with hope.
"I will speak with Niklaus," Gerda said, her hand gently cupping your chin, forcing you to look up at her, "he will see reason, I know it,"
"I'm not sure anyone can reason with him," you said, the sadness creeping back into your voice.
"He loves you, in his own way," she said, her hands gripping your arms tightly, "he is a good man, he will understand."
You remained silent, unsure how to reply, hoping Gerda was right. You could only hope and pray, that the gods would show mercy, would spare you, would save you.
The wedding celebration was in full swing. Elijah weaved through the crowd of villagers dancing around a large bonfire. Niklaus was sitting on the steps to the longhouse, sharpening his sword, with Tatia sitting at his side.
He knew his brother well enough to know he was angry about something. There was a coldness in his eyes, a dark edge to his demeanor. His movements were rigid and tense, his expression, hard and unforgiving.
"Brother," Elijah said, kneeling in front of Niklaus, meeting his gaze, his expression solemn.
"Elijah," Niklaus replied, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, "why the dower look? This is a time for celebration!"
"I need to speak with you," Elijah said, his tone serious, his voice low, "about the wedding,"
"Is something not to your taste? Perhaps the food is not to your liking?" Niklaus's tone was light, but his expression was one of irritation.
Elijah watched as Tatia put a calming hand on Niklaus's shoulder. He thought she was behaving far too familiar with a man on his wedding day, her touch was far too intimate, her smile a little too sly.
"No, the food is fine," Elijah said, his gaze shifting to Tatia, the look on his face making her withdraw her hand, a small smile forming on his lips.
"What is troubling you?" Tatia asked, her tone light, her expression, innocent.
"Nothing that concerns you," Elijah replied, his expression hardening, his words biting, "I wish to speak with my brother, privately,"
"She stays," Niklaus said, his hand moving to cover hers, his eyes flashing.
"Very well," Elijah said, sighing heavily. He would have to be careful about how he presented the news, the last thing he wanted was for his brother to fly into a rage.
"Look at him," Niklaus chuckled, looking at Tatia, who looked nervously between the brothers. "He thinks we don't know,"
"Know what?" Tatia asked, feigning ignorance.
"That he's trying to pass off his child as my own," Niklaus snarled, twisting his blade in the dim light of the setting sun, admiring his reflection.
Tatia let out a fake gasp, her eyes wide, her hand flying to her mouth, "Surely, he wouldn't, that would be dishonorable."
"Yes, it would be, wouldn't it?" Niklaus smiled, the madness shining in his eyes. "My brother, the one everyone thinks is so noble. Who I thought was so noble," he growled, his fingers tightening around the hilt of his sword.
"Let me explain-" Elijah began, but was cut off by Niklaus raising his hand, silencing him.
"The two of you have been quite busy, haven't you?" Niklaus chuckled darkly, he got to his feet, his sword in hand.
Elijah could see the murderous look in his eyes, the tension in his muscles, his whole body coiled, ready to strike.
"Niklaus," Tatia said, rising to her feet, her voice calm, her hand going to rest on his arm, her gaze darting around the crowd. "Not here, there are people watching,"
"How dare you take what's mine," Niklaus hissed, ignoring Tatia, his face inches from Elijah's, his expression one of pure fury, his body taut with anger.
"Brother-" Elijah started to say, rising to his feet, his hands raised, his expression imploring.
"No," Niklaus said, his jaw clenched, his grip on his sword tightening, "you don't get to call me that anymore, my brother died in the raids, all I have left is a traitor, a snake, a thief,"
"Niklaus, please," Tatia said, her eyes pleading, her hand tightening on his arm, her body pressed against his.
He pushed Tatia off and stormed towards the bonfire, the crowd parting for him. The laughter and joy turned to confusion as Niklaus raised his sword high above his head.
"People! My people," Niklaus shouted, his eyes wild, a sinister smile spreading across his face. "I have an announcement,"
You and Gerda approached the crowd, the sound of Niklaus' voice echoing in the eerie quiet. All the music and the dancing had stopped, everyone's attention fixed on him.
You saw the look on his face, his expression a mix of madness and fury. You tried to push your way through the crowd, but you couldn't, the people were too thick, their bodies packed tightly together.
"I have gathered you all here today under false pretenses," Niklaus said, his voice loud and clear, his sword waving erratically. "Today is not a celebration,"
You could hear the collective gasp of the crowd, the murmurs of confusion, the hushed whispers, the sound of footsteps running through the village.
"Today is a reckoning," Niklaus continued, his voice rising, "today is a trial,"
Elijah watched as his brother pointed the sword directly at him. The look in his eyes chilled him to the bone.
"My brother forced himself upon my betrothed when she was under his care," Niklaus shouted, his words sending a hush over the crowd, "and now he seeks to pass off this child as mine own,”
The crowd started murmuring, the sound growing louder, their voices filled with outrage, their faces full of disbelief.
You managed to push your way forward, finally making it to the edge of the crowd. Your eyes locked with Elijah's, the pain and sorrow in his gaze, making your heart ache.
"That's not true," you protested, stepping forward, your voice faltering, tears rolling down your cheeks.
"Liar!" Niklaus screamed, his voice cutting through the air, his face contorted, his sword pointing directly at you. "You are carrying his child are you not?"
You gasped, his words striking you like a blow. You heard the crowd murmur, some gasping, others whispering. Your face reddened, your shame washing over you.
"I..." you began, your eyes darting around, your voice trembling, "I don't..."
"Enough," Niklaus roared, his voice ringing through the air, the villagers all looking on in horror. "I have a witness who can confirm the pregnancy,"
Tatia stepped forward, her eyes wide, her expression nervous. You knew what she was about to do and you wanted to run and hide, but your feet were rooted to the ground.
"I tended to y/n when she returned," Tatia said, her gaze falling on you, a look of apology on her face. "In doing so, I discovered she was with child,"
The crowd erupted into shouting and screaming, their voices angry, their faces shocked.
"Although she did not reveal who the father was, it was obvious it was not her betrothed," Tatia said, her expression grave, her voice steady.
"So who else could be the father?" Niklaus shouted, his expression triumphant, his face full of rage.
"I am," Elijah said, his voice clear, his gaze meeting yours. "The child is mine,"
Your heart stopped, the world seeming to spin, everything moving in slow motion. You could hear the crowd shouting, see their angry faces, but it was as if you were underwater, unable to move or breathe.
"So you admit to forcing yourself on her?" Niklaus asked, his eyes wide, his mouth twisted into a vicious smile, his expression, vengeful.
"No," You managed to croak out, the words catching in your throat, tears spilling down your cheeks, your body shaking. "He didn't...I...I'm not..."
"Speak up," Niklaus growled, his eyes boring into yours, his gaze filled with hatred. "Say what you have to say and face the consequences of your actions,"
Elijah moved in front of you, shielding you from Niklaus' view. He spread his arms wide, looking at his brother, his gaze resolute.
"Niklaus," Elijah said, his voice calm. "That's enough,"
"Don't tell me when it's enough," Niklaus hissed, his eyes blazing, his face contorting. "After what you've done, after what I've lost, I have every right to seek justice,"
"Is that what you are doing? Humiliating your bride in front of the entire village is not justice," Elijah asked, his voice rising, his expression furious.
"Bride?" Niklaus laughed, it was a cold and harsh sound, his gaze fixed on you, his eyes filled with malice. "No, she is no bride of mine, she's just a whore,"
Elijah charged at his brother, his face, livid. He punched him squarely in the jaw, knocking him to the ground. The crowd started cheering, their bloodthirsty cries echoing through the air.
Niklaus laughed, getting back to his feet, wiping the blood from his split lip. He lunged forward, his eyes bright, his sword flashing. Elijah jumped back, narrowly avoiding the blade, then he pulled out his own.
You could only watch as they circled each other, Niklaus' expression maniacal, Elijah's calm. The blade clashed as Niklaus attacked again. Elijah blocked the blow, shoving him backwards.
Rebekah was screaming for them to stop, being held back by Kol, her eyes filled with tears. Drums were beating as the villagers were chanting for blood.
Gerda held on to you tightly, stopping you from running towards them, trying to prevent the inevitable. You could see the anger in their eyes, and the hatred. You wanted to scream, to beg them to stop, to tell them this was all your fault, that you couldn't bear to see them like this.
"STOP!" You screamed, your voice cracking, tears pouring down your cheeks, your heart thumping in your chest.
But it was no use, they were too far gone, the bloodlust in their veins pumping. The sound of metal on metal rang through the night air, the crowd shouting and chanting.
The brothers were moving so quickly, their swords flashing and clashing, the grunts and the roars, loud in your ears. Niklaus growled, swinging his blade with such force, it sent Elijah's flying from his hand.
Elijah tried to pick up his sword, but Klaus leapt onto his back, knocking them both to the ground. They grappled, rolling around, pushing and shoving.
Niklaus drew a dagger from his belt, grinning maniacally as he plunged it into Elijah's shoulder. The crowd cried out in victory as Elijah gasped, his eyes widening in shock.
You wiggled your way out of Gerda's grip only to be stopped by Ansel. He threw his arms around you, holding you tightly, the cries of the people drowning out your screams.
Elijah fought back, tossing Niklaus to the ground, driving his fist into his face, the dagger still lodged in his shoulder. Niklaus snarled, kicking Elijah backwards, lunging forward with a savage thrust, narrowly missing Elijah's chest.
Niklaus stood up, breathing heavily, his face filled with rage, his eyes wild. Elijah staggered to his feet, his blade now in hand, poised and ready, his grip steady, his face set.
"I'm sorry, brother," Elijah whispered, his voice cracking, his face tightening.
"As am I," Niklaus replied, his voice choked with emotion, his expression pained.
Niklaus rushed at him, his sword held high, his eyes blazing. Elijah sprang forward to meet him, his sword arcing through the air.
Their blades met in a deafening clash, both men pushing and shoving, straining against each other's strength. The anger and frustration flowed from their veins as they danced and dueled in the burning light of the bonfire.
Niklaus pushed Elijah back, causing him to stumble over a rock. Elijah fell backwards, his blade landing on the ground just out of reach.
You watched in horror as Niklaus leapt forward, his blade raised.
"NO!" You screamed, watching as the dagger flashed in the light of the flames.
Suddenly, Henrik appeared in between them, his hands up, his expression filled with panic. Niklaus had already swung his blade, the momentum carrying him forward.
The tip of his blade slashed against Henrik's face, drawing blood. The crowd instantly fell silent, the drums coming to an abrupt halt. You cried out in anguish, covering your mouth with your hands, watching as Henrik fell to his knees.
Elijah was already rushing to Henrik's side, scooping him up, looking at him with horror. Niklaus had dropped his blade and fell to his knees, his expression one of total shock, his voice weak.
"Hen!!!" Gerda shrieked, running forward, falling to her knees at Henrik's side.
She turned to look at Niklaus, pure venom in her gaze. She slapped him hard across the face, screeching at him to get away.
He compiled without protest, his body quivering as he stood up. Tatia rushed forward to meet him, her arms reaching out for him. He shrugged off her touch, standing a distance away, his face gray.
Gerda cradled Henrik, stroking his face, looking down at him with worry. Henrik was clutching his cheek, looking up at her with wet eyes.
Elijah took the hilt of his knife and pulled it from his shoulder with a wince. Blood was flowing down his arm, dripping onto the ground. He grasped it tightly, trying to stem the bleeding with his hand.
You pushed Ansel aside, breaking free from his grip. You sprinted to Elijah's side, sinking to the ground next to him, you tore a piece of your dress and wrapped it around his shoulder, the ivory cloth turning crimson.
Tatia was helping Henrik to his feet, wiping the blood from his face, examining his wound. His cheek was sliced open, and she pressed her shawl to it to stop the bleeding.
Elijah stood up, swaying slightly as he stood, holding his arm tight to his chest. You helped him stand, your expression determined. He glanced at you, the pain in his eyes clear to see.
You looked over at Niklaus, who was staring right back at you through the flames of the bonfire. He looked defeated, his shoulders slumped, his eyes vacant. He glanced around the crowd, at all the disappointed faces then back at your own. He didn't blame you, the fault was all his, he'd been blinded by rage, by the fire burning inside him.
You watched him sit, his head in his hands, his shoulders slumped. He looked utterly defeated, his face a picture of remorse and guilt. He looked so small and alone, a broken man who'd lost everything.
Kol carried Henrik towards Tatia's hut, followed by Gerda and Rebekah. Elijah began limping towards the hut as well, leaving you alone with Niklaus.
You stood frozen for a moment, before making your way over to him, his shoulders trembling. You reached out your hand, placing it gently on his shoulder, feeling the hard muscles beneath his shirt.
"Nik," you breathed, trying to steady your trembling hands, your voice breaking.
He flinched at the sound of your voice, jerking away from your touch. "Don't," he rasped, his voice breaking, his eyes fixed on the ground.
You sat down next to him, crossing your arms over your chest, taking a deep breath. "Niklaus, I'm sorry," you whispered, your voice heavy with guilt, tears filling your eyes.
He nodded, still unable to meet your gaze. He shook his head, his hands clenched at his side. He felt sick, empty, numb.
"I didn't mean for it to turn out like this," you continued, tears flowing down your cheeks. "None of this was supposed to happen,"
He said nothing, just sat there, his expression unreadable.
"Do you love him?" Niklaus asked, his voice was flat, his tone, void.
"I do," you replied, your voice shaking, the words tumbling out of your mouth.
"Do you love me?" he asked, still avoiding eye contact with you.
"Yes, but not in the same way," you admitted, your voice cracking, the tears falling faster. "You... You are like a brother to me Nik, but Elijah... I am in love with him,"
You expected anger, hurt, betrayal but when he finally looked up at you, his eyes were filled with understanding, not rage or pain.
"He makes you happy," he said, giving you a small smile.
"Yes," you agreed, returning his smile with a watery one of your own.
"I have lost everything, haven't I?" He asked, his voice hollow, his expression sad.
"No," you said softly, taking his hand in yours, squeezing his fingers gently. "You have your family, and this village. You have all these people that care about you, who love you. I will always be a part of that, I will always be your friend,"
"Thank you," Niklaus replied, squeezing your hand in return.
"Let's go see them," you said, standing up and wiping your tears away, "They need you now, you're still their brother,"
He took your hand, following you towards the hut, his heart full of anguish, his eyes full of tears. He walked past you as you pushed through the flap, his gaze immediately landing on Henrik, who was being examined by Tatia.
"Is he alright?" He asked, his voice hardly audible, guilt eating away at him.
"The cut is deep but not life threatening," Tatia explained, cleaning the wound with a wet cloth, dabbing it gently. "It will need stitching,"
Gerda was next to him, kneeling on the floor. Niklaus touched her arm softly and she glared up at him with narrowed eyes. Her face softened as she took in the state of him, her expression one of relief.
Niklaus dropped to his knees, his gaze fixed on Henrik, shame flooding him.
"I'm sorry," he gasped, his voice choked with emotion, tears forming in his eyes.
"It was an accident," Gerda said, her voice soothing, her face soft.
"The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt you," Niklaus murmured, his eyes never leaving his brother. "I just... I just got so angry, and I wanted to hurt someone, to lash out, to be in control..."
"Are you and Elijah still mad at each other?" Henrik croaked, lifting his eyes to meet his brothers.
Niklaus shook his head, his shoulders sagging, his heart aching. "No," he breathed, blinking back tears.
You went and sat next to Elijah, whose shoulder was now bandaged. He pulled you close, wrapping his arm around your waist, kissing you on the forehead.
Niklaus looked up at the two of you, his gaze lingering on Elijah's bandaged wound. If it wasn't for Henriks intervention, he would have killed Elijah, his closest brother. And all for what? His pride? His selfish anger?
He was more angry over Elijah taking what was his than you going behind his back. He didn't love you the way he thought he did, he just didn't realize until now. He thought he was doing the right thing, marrying you, keeping you safe. But it was never the right thing for you, it was always about him, even before everything fell apart.
Tatia finished stitching up the cut, dressing the wound with cloth bandages. She nodded at Niklaus, holding his gaze for a moment, then gave him a reassuring smile.
Gerda helpedHenrik to his feet, steadying him as he walked over to Niklaus. Henrik threw his arms around Niklaus' neck, hugging him tight. Niklaus clung to his little brother, his entire body shuddering as he cried.
"No more fighting, brother. Just peace, okay?" Henrik asked, looking up at Niklaus with a slight smile.
"Okay," Niklaus replied, breaking into a smile, tears streaming down his cheeks.
You slipped your hand into Elijah's, squeezing his fingers gently. He wrapped his other arm around your shoulders, pulling you close, burying his face in your hair, breathing you in.
Niklaus glanced up at the two of you, noting the tenderness between you, the obvious love and affection. He knew now you were truly happy with Elijah, and he was finally able to let go of the illusion of the future he had created. He realized now he was never in love with you the way he thought he was, he had misinterpreted his feelings as passion, devotion, it was all just confusion.
"Am I really going to be an aunt?" Rebekah asked, looking at you excitedly.
You nodded, your smile growing wider, tears stinging your eyes.
"When is the baby due?" She asked, bouncing on her toes, her eyes shining.
"In about seven moons," Elijah answered, his gaze filled with love, his hand moving to rest on the swell of your stomach.
Rebekah squealed, throwing her arms around you, hugging you tightly. She looked back and forth between you and Elijah, her eyes filled with happiness.
"We are so happy for you both," Gerda said with a smile, looking over at Elijah with appreciation. "Congratulations,"
"I always knew one day you would bear a little niece or nephew of mine, I just didn't expect it so soon," Kol remarked, smiling mischievously, throwing a casual arm around his sister. "And I also expected a different father,"
Rebekah smacked him on the back of the head, shooting him a disapproving look, shaking her head.
You sat with them for a while, watching their smiles and laughter, your heart light. Henrik and Gerda were cuddled up together, their fingers laced, talking quietly. Niklaus was speaking quietly with Rebekah, the two sharing an embrace, their eyes glistening.
You were gazing at Elijah lovingly, your stomach fluttering, your chest filled with warmth. He smiled at you as he stood up, his expression gentle, his lips pressing to your forehead tenderly.
"I'm going to head back to my hut," he said, touching your cheek. "Come with?"
You nodded, standing up, looping your arm through his. You walked with him towards the door, pausing to glance at Niklaus. He gave you a small smile, the first real one he'd given you in a while. Then he looked at Elijah, his expression hardening briefly before relaxing again. It was all you could hope for, a broken reconciliation of sorts.
Once outside, you found yourself wrapped in Elijah's arms, your body pressing against his. You felt relief, knowing you could be open about your relationship now, the shame of hiding behind secrecy, gone.
Elijah's hut was neat and cozy, the hearth fire, warm. In the corner, was a large bed covered in soft furs and linens. The sound of the river came through the open window, mixed with the rustle of the leaves in the trees. You looked out at the open forest beyond the river bank, at the stars twinkling above.
You watched as Elijah removed his sword from his belt, placing it gently down next to the bed, running his fingers over the metal. He looked up at you shyly, sitting down on the edge of the bed, motioning for you to join him.
You approached cautiously, stepping out of your shoes, padding across the fur covered floor. You sat beside him, taking his hand, letting his thumb rub across your palm. He placed his arm around you, pulling you closer, resting his cheek on top of your head, letting out a sigh.
"It's over," Elijah murmured, his voice soft.
"Yeah," you whispered, relief rushing over you. "Do you regret how it happened?" You asked. "How we came to be together?"
He shook his head. "I only regret not loving you sooner," he said, lifting your chin up with his fingers, his gaze meeting yours. "Everything else... is now history,"
~Epilogue
"Ella! Come help me with these flowers," Gerda called out, carrying a bundle of wildflowers in her arms.
Ella scrambled up from where she was seated by the river, clutching her doll to her chest. She ran towards her aunt, her dark hair billowing in the wind, her brown eyes wide.
"I found some lavender and daisies," Ella squeaked, holding up a fistful of flowers, their stems dangling loose.
"Perfect," Gerda replied, scooping her up and carrying her in one arm, balancing the large bundle of blossoms in the other.
You sat on the steps to your hut, watching the village bustle around you, men building furniture and decorating, their voices, jovial. Everyone was preparing for the wedding today, the excitement was contagious.
Elijah sat next to you, carving an intricate design into a large piece of lumber. It was a wedding present for the bride and groom, a perfect decoration for their table.
You watched his hands, marveling at the steady, precise way he held the blade, at his deft, nimble fingers.
He looked up at you, glancing at his work critically, raising his brows. "What do you think?" He asked, turning the piece of wood in his hand, showing you the carving.
It was a beautiful forest scene, complete with wild animals and lush green plants, birds sitting in the tree branches. It was a masterpiece, made with love and attention to detail.
"It's beautiful," you breathed, running your fingers over the intricate details.
He smiled at your praise, pleased at your response. He pulled you closer, pressing his lips to your cheek tenderly.
Kol appeared around the corner, an enormous crate in his arms. Henrik followed close behind, a large sack slung over his shoulder. They smiled broadly at the sight of you and Elijah sitting together, their faces friendly.
"Elijah, we need your help," Henrik said, dropping the sack next to the crate.
Elijah stood up, nodding his agreement. He planted a quick kiss on your lips, running his fingers down your arm before jogging off to help his brothers.
You could see the girls across the way, rushing towards Tatia's hut with bowls of flowers. Tatia hurried over to help, taking the bundle from Ella, smoothing her dark curls affectionately.
Rebekah was sitting in front of the hut, with Tatia's young son on her lap. The two of them weaving flowers together, crafting a crown. Rebekah placed it on top of the little one's head, laughing at his sweet smile.
You stood up, making your way over to the group of women, your feet softly pattering on the dirt path. You stopped briefly to pet one of the goats that wandered around, stroking its neck, receiving a loud "meeeh" in return.
Ella squealed when she saw you approach, her eyes growing wide with glee.
"Momma! Momma!" She squealed, running straight for you, wrapping her tiny arms around your legs, looking up at you adoringly.
You reached down, picking her up, tickling her stomach playfully. Her giggles made you laugh, the soft chime of her sweet innocence a welcome sound.
"Gerda said I can throw flowers for the wedding... Can I? Can I?" Ella exclaimed, bouncing on your hip, her doe eyes begging, her little hands curled in yours.
"Of course," you answered, brushing her curls out of her face, kissing her cheeks. "The ceremony will start soon, so we have to get you ready,"
She smiled, clapping her hands together, practically vibrating with joy. You carried her towards Gerda's hut, peering inside to find your sister's dress spread out on her bed, her shoes and hair ribbons resting next to it.
"I can't believe this day has come," you said softly, running your hand down the fine dress, your gaze filled with love. "Do you remember when we were preparing for my wedding?"
Gerda stood next to you, giving you a sideways smile. "Yes," she chuckled, her eyes sparkling with nostalgia, shaking her head. "Wait, which one of your weddings?"
"Hush," you chuckled, elbowing her in the ribs, giving her a grin. "You're worse than Kol,"
You both burst out laughing, overcome with fits of giggles. You linked your arm through hers, pulling her close, resting your head on her shoulder, breathing in her familiar, comforting scent.
"Mother and Father would be so proud of you little systir," you murmured, your heart full of love.
"And of you," she replied, wrapping her arm around you.
"Now," you said, turning your attention to your daughter, shifting her in your arms. "We have to get you dressed, we can't have you throwing flowers in your undergarments, can we?"
Today was a glorious day, one of family and love. There was laughter and music, sweet honey wine and delicious, rich food.
Niklaus spent the day out hunting for the biggest elk he could find, a special treat for tonight's feast. Everyone watched him carry it into the village center triumphantly, his forehead streaked with sweat, his grin ear to ear.
He saw you and your daughter Ella dancing together, singing, smiling. He saw Elijah running towards you, lifting Ella up, twirling her around, her laugh rising above the sound of the drums.
There had been a rift between the three of you for so long, it still felt strange to see you together as a family, but he had no regrets. He was filled with more pride than hurt, life was not the fairy tale he once imagined, but it was the right path, all the same.
Tatia approached him, carrying their son in her arms, stroking his golden hair, cooing softly. She looked at him, her gaze full of tenderness, placing a soft kiss on his head before handing him to his father.
"How was your hunt?" She asked, fussing over his hair.
"Very successful," he answered, his grin widening, kissing his baby boy on the head. "Fit for a feast,"
She took the arm he offered, squeezing it gently. Niklaus held her hand as they strolled through the village, people smiling and waving at them as they walked past.
Drums became louder as Niklaus approached the longhouse, admiring how the flames from the torches created shadows on the ground and stone pillars. He guided his wife and son to the head table, helping her to sit, placing their boy on her lap. He took his place next to his brothers at the altar, watching as everyone gathered in front of them.
Henrik stood in the middle, nervously twiddling his fingers, his hair a beautiful, shiny dark brown. He was dressed in finely crafted clothing, embroidered with threads of the finest silks, woven in exquisite patterns. Niklaus admired his brother's wide smile and bright blue eyes, filled with happiness and anticipation.
"Don't be frightened little brother," Niklaus said, winking at him, slapping him on the shoulder reassuringly. "Married life isn't so bad,”
As if on cue, there was the sound of a pipe and harp, and everyone turned their attention to the sound. Ella came first, ribbons braided through her hair, a crown of flowers on top. She tossed petals and blossoms on the path ahead, giggling and smiling, kicking up her skirts as she ran around the gathered crowd.
Rebekah followed behind her, and Niklaus smiled affectionately. You followed behind her, your arm linked with your sister, a few white flower petals tumbling from your palm to the path below, making a trail of beauty behind you.
Gerda looked perfect, her dark hair tied up, her crown woven with lavender and daisies, matching her loose white dress. A gentle, contented smile graced her face as she looked at Henrik, their eyes sparkling with love, their expressions overflowing with happiness.
The vows were spoken, Gerda and Henrik sealed their oaths with a kiss, their laughter mixing with cheers and whistles from their friends and family.
And then the feast began, with the new bride and groom kissing at the head table, their cheeks flushed.
Niklaus looked out at all the children playing and dancing, his wife twirling around with Rebekah, as Elijah sat with you at the next table, his hand gently stroking your knee.
Niklaus watched Ella run towards him without looking where she was going, slamming right into his legs. She looked up at him, brushing herself off, a look of hesitation and fear in her big brown eyes.
"That's okay, Ella," Niklaus said, crouching down to her level, trying to relax his expression. "Be careful though,"
Her eyes grew wider, she never had much interaction with her uncle Niklaus, so she was always a little afraid of him, hiding behind her mother or father whenever she saw him.
Elijah noticed his daughter and his brother speaking, how nervous his little girl looked, her hands clutching her dress, peering up at the man before her through her lashes. He came over, leaning down to speak to her, his face was gentle and caring, as he spoke, pointing out at the festivities, offering her something to eat. She shook her head shyly, hiding behind her father, her hands pressed against his legs.
"I'm sorry, she's a bit shy today," Elijah said awkwardly, it had been so long since he had a conversation with Niklaus. It all felt a bit foreign, it was difficult to know what to say.
"She looks just like you," Niklaus said, pushing himself to stand, smiling down at Ella, watching as her eyes followed him.
Elijah picked Ella up, resting her on his hip, smiling affectionately.
"Look Ella, you know uncle Niklaus," he said softly, bouncing her a little, encouraging her to wave hello, her tiny, trembling hand moving in a cute little wave.
"Hello, Ella," Niklaus said softly, waving back, extending his hand, motioning for her to touch it. She touched the tips of his fingers with her own, offering a shy smile.
Kol sauntered over, a huge grin on his face, his cheeks flushed red, probably from drinking. He clapped a hand on Niklaus's shoulder, and joined in the small conversation.
"Ella darling, you owe me a dance!" He proclaimed, and before anyone could blink, he had taken Ella from Elijah's arms, spinning her around, raising her up, laughing and giggling.
"Not too fast, Kol," Elijah warned, grinning at the sight of his daughter having fun, spinning and twirling, her laughter echoing around the grove.
Elijah returned his attention to Niklaus, surprised to see the relaxed expression on his brother's face, the corners of his mouth turned up in a friendly smile.
They spoke as they used to, laughing and sharing stories and jokes. They discussed the details of recent hunts, of their children and wives, of future plans and past adventures.
Henrik stood at the front table, with his new bride on his arm, raising his mug high in the air. "A toast to my dearest love," he said, raising his cup, smiling down at Gerda affectionately, their matching gold rings glimmering in the fire light.
"I want to thank you all for coming and celebrating this night with us. This is a joyous occasion for me, but I am especially grateful to share it with each and every one of you. Without you I would not have known true love, and today I get to make my darling Gerda my wife, so thank you for allowing me to have this beautiful life,"
Everyone cheered and cried out their congratulations. There was music and laughter, friends and loved ones. The night was filled with celebration, music, and love. The pain of the past was almost forgotten, your grief and sadness, laid to rest. Everyone was happy, overjoyed at the good fortune that life had bestowed upon you. The ground had thawed, the snow melted, giving way to sweet, bright Spring. New birth and beginnings were in the air, the scent of renewal permeated everything, love, light and joy were your family's future.
