this part is a little drier compared to the other 3. it's a quick mop up on any remaining minutiae about the setting before we move onto events and characters/bosses. that's the real meat and potatoes. bear with me talking about game mechanics and tomorrow ill talk about the stupid mensis ritual alright. arent you excited to hear a new baseless theory about micolash's birthday party or whatever.

THE HUNTER ASKS:

i think most statues weren't people. but something about the human experience of obsession turns the blood in yharnam first into syrup and then into stone. the item description for the frenzied coldblood reads:

A strong will produces thick blood. Doubtless, the product of obsession, a potent source of human strength.

i think this item description is the only bit of explicit text that ties together the idea of madness inducing what the game calls "crystallization". the blood shard item descriptions confirm that after death "a substance in the blood hardens" and another upgrade material, blood gems (name self explanatory, the page is annoying to navigate) are very rarely found in coldblood.

there are hints, however, that being driven mad with bad eldritch vibes causes problematic instantaneous crystallizations. your example of the poor saps at yahar'gul is a good one. whatever happened when the brain of mensis was called forth* really flash fried the whole town in a new kind of way.

side note: there's some women skeletons who are pushing their kids out of their way like they're george costanza hearing the fire alarm and it makes me lol every time i see it. i think its bc the little boy skeletons are wearing a little fancy lad outfit.

theres also the spikes that form in your blood when you become "frenzied", a debuff that obliterates most of your health in 1 second. when you are in danger of being "frenzied" (this happens when you look at or are attacked by certain enemies whose appearance or sound is so horrible it drives you insane), spikes shoot out of your head.

i thought this was just a gameplay mechanic to visually indicate whats happening if you miss the audio cue or the meter. but it turns out there's several unlucky bastards who peeked at the brain of mensis and got riddled with enormous spikes that came from the inside out.

imagine a monster that is so scary your blood tries to escape your body at maximum velocity. but its just mother brain from metroid.

i think most of the eyes from various corpses were pecked out by the enormously fat crows all over the place and then excreted/barfed whatever way they do in nature. they swallow rocks irl to digest shit because god forgot they need to be able to eat food to live.

i clued in shawn to the original version of the lamps from an early version of the game: a chair you sit, sleep and dream in. once you know this pointless factoid, you will start noticing the frequency of really weirdly placed chairs in the game. its a chair game. adeline is strapped down to a chair. annalise sits on her throne. the spooky skeleton gatekeeper for the forbidden woods is in a chair. chairs.

CANON! for some reason the english translation neglects to mention that its in your own handwriting which is like. part of why it would be spooky. otherwise its like iosefka left a note to herself to kill god later.

What are your favorite things about the ship? blake seeing a part of adam in ruby was an idea that always interested me, along with the idea that blake sees a part of her younger, more idealistic self in ruby. kinda similar to what weiss coulda viewed ruby as. i think ruby works as a narrative foil to these ideas since she is younger and less jaded, especially compared to blake. a year ago i wrote up a mini comic of ruby and blake going on a solo mission together and even designed them stealth outfits LOL

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? i think it should be more popular i guess? its a shame in the show i think blake talks to ruby one on one maybe. maybe like.... five times? i think/? maybe?

What are your favorite things about the ship? the fact their color schemes match so well, the way their personal narratives are inherently tied to eachother, hell the fact their personalities bounce off eachother in a unique way

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? errrrrrrrrrrrrm. i dont usually advocate for ships being canon, since shipping is just about having fun in fandom and clinking dolls together, and etc etc, but... i genuinely think monochrome wouldve been a great canon ship. theres a lot of potential and substance with these two that i feel the show proper unfortunately ignored or wrote accidentally. weiss in the early volumes (and even in later ones i think) proves to be very emotionally intelligent and aware of blake's feelings and keeps an eye out for her which is super interesting but also i think the writers wrote that accidentally because they don't do anything with it and they have a tendency to tell us people are close instead of showing us. if they meant for that to happen they wouldve had a character say weiss is emotionally intelligent by now lol

What made you ship it? i think their more extreme personalities lead to a fun dynamic (pre v4) of a carefree party girl and an uptight high class rich girl. plus, i think yang looks best in white

What are your favorite things about the ship? their dynamic mostly! there isn't much in the show that i can think of where yang and weiss get a lot of interaction time, mainly becus yang and blake are usually next to eachother so there isn't much to build off and in v1-3 yang is just ... kinda there. but yeah, the dynamic and the fact they look good in eachother's colors

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? honestly not really! i don't feel strongly about the ship but i don't have any negative feelings towards it either. its a good ship. plus the height diff is cute (i remember the v5 hug)

Why don’t you ship it? canon kinda... turned me off from it. i thought it was fun in v1, and shipped it hard alongside monochrome, but the more the show went on the less i felt interested in it. canon made me partial towards blacksun due to all of their set up and plot points together (and a similar dynamic to bumblebee). cus of that bumblebee kinda felt like... off brand blacksun? so i just didn't bother with it. that, and the fans also turned me off HAHA. usually i don't let fandom mess with how i view ships, but man it was just tiring, especially with how queerbaity the show was up until v9. i didnt really like it. an interesting thing i noticed, which def wasn't intentional, is that blake gravitates towards yang who is similar to her abuser (adam: similar semblance mechanics and anger issues(?)) and yang gravitates toward blake who is similar to her mother (similar appearance, both abandoned yang furthering her abandonment issues). they almost seem codependent, which is cool from a toxic yuri storyline but i am 100% sure thats not what canon was going for. blake's lost her personality and so has yang so they can fit into a "shy wallflower needs her brash girlfriend to stand up for her" dynamic which. boooo character assassination boooo

What would have made you like it? probably if more time was spent with blake and yang's friendship instead of blake and sun's. sun got more spotlight than yang in the early volumes, and from v4-5 he was the only friend with her the whole time. if there wasn't any blacksun buildup then i totally woulda been more partial to bumblebee in canon. concept wise its fun on its own, im just not partial to how the show used those ideas

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? the fanart's cute! and the idea of soulmates matching eachother's eyes is cute, blake's secondary color is purple and yang's eyes are purple; yang's main color is yellow and blake's eyes are yellow. they've got matching weapons too with eachother's colors (now, post v7) which is cute. basically what i like is the hypothetical or the little details

Teru is underexplored in the way most shounen secondary characters are in that we see him at one extreme of a character arc and then another but we don’t get much info on how he gets to each point or what his journey is like since he’s not Protagonist-kun and shounen tends to omit emotional journeys that arent tied to a physical conflict.

We know from canon that Teru became a monster as a result of some deep insecurity that Shigeo could recognize in him, but that's all the detail we get about it, really. Still there's evidence of what may have gone down. Teru's biggest issue is that he's isolated--physically in that he lives alone at age 14 and socially in that Teru doesn't have friends. He does well in school and gets confessions from girls. He has admirers and could get a favor from just about anybody, but that doesn't mean much. Teru doesn't have friends. He has followers, he has admirers, he has lackeys and subordinates. That’s it.  

In that sense you start to see a picture of a person who puts himself on a pedestal as a show for everybody else. He can't befriend but he can intimidate, which are almost the same thing if you squint.  He can impress and win approval or at the very least obedience in these underhanded ways that give him what almost looks like having social support, but what are those relationships?  Instead of having 0 relationships he has a hundred little nothings that amount to jack shit emotionally and don't fill whatever hole is there in his heart. He doesn't know another way and I think that's profoundly sad.

and to speak on the post-mobbu years, he does a complete 180 but you can still see those narcissistic tendencies shining through in his interactions with other characters from time to time. Hell, he saw one member of Claw and was like OH SHIT FREE WAR CRIMES!!  Like, he’s not as transformed as he is trying to be.

Shounen anime will almost never show you this but I think old habits die hard and the change that Teru wants to see in himself probably comes harder than you get to see in the show

Oh for sure. I could see Teru even now having a healthy amount of insecurity about that, especially with Shigeo there to compare himself to. He doesn't know how to operate like that.  He can't help that his first impulse is not to be as invariably self sacrificing as Shigeo is. It requires rebuilding ones entire mindset from the ground up to achieve something like that. You cant just have new thoughts on a used brain without a lot of time and effort. It doesn’t work like that.

there is a moment in canon that I think about a lot where Teru VERY OFFHANDEDLY mentions that he has nightmares about his fight with Shigeo and then never mentions it again

Yeahhhh,,, like not only does he bear the weight of not being able to change so easily but also that of his past actions. The constant reminder of what he almost did to Shigeo, who is somebody he clearly values extremely highly. His only close friend if we're being honest.

And there’s some mental gymnastics he could do to justify himself but I scarcely see him considering it for even a second. Yes, Shigeo is scary when provoked but that pales in comparison that he could have easily killed somebody he now adores

My non-romantic OTP for this characteri love the familial bonds between all the nohrian siblings but so far leo and elise is my fave sibling duo,,, but im biased bc so far ive only gotten theirs and camilla/xander’s lol. but even in hoshido i like the younger sibs plus older sibs duos. the idea of closeness in age forming a special bond is cute to me. i also like corrin and leo as having a close sib bond since they seem close in age! i know theres [remembers graveyard chapter of birthright again and starts sobbing] some underlying angst of him envying all the doting on corrin his siblings do and he feels ALONE AND I CRY, but he also was very fond of corrin, and i remember the end of birthright where camilla totally calls him out saying how he was saying how nice it was to get to see corrin again ;w; i’d like to think they were close!and of course i like leo and camilla’s relationship…. thinks about end of birthright and sobs… at least they have each other ;o;i need to get more leo supports actually… i want to see every support convo but theres only so much time CRIES

pica’s 1/6 of an inch tall

(im kidding. his name was originally a pun, but not a typography one - he’s a rehash of an old oc i had way back in the day, who was based off a magpie. hes actually on the short side for a dwarf, i want to say around 4′3″)

he was a lyrium smuggler before the inquisition, and specifically was the front man who sold it. he’s a champion liar and man of many faces, and knows how to disappear in plain sight (which is easy if you’re a dwarf and most law enforcement on the surface are humans. to a human guard dwarves all look the same and theyre too short to really get a good look at their faces). he had a pretty transient lifestyle- he didn’t get tied down, didn’t get too attached to anyone or anything, had pretty few posessions. he was 26 (or the dwarf equivalent of 26. hows dwarf aging work in dragon age anyway) when the carta got him to spy at the conclave, and you know how that went

look ok. the first half of his career as inquisitor was just. wingin’ it. no one really knew what the fuck he was supposed to be doing, least of all him, so he just pretended he knew what he was doing till, i wanna say the end of into the abyss. after talking to mal hawke some he learned that, hey, everyone’s always winging it, and also that his decisions kind of really mattered. (and that those decisions he makes can. kill people) for the first time in his life, he realizes hes actually important, and what he does changes things on the large scale

so after that, he got to thinking. the world kinda sucks. and it sucked before the war. and the leaders of thedas are really not doing all that much about it, except trying to kick each other in the nuts while their enemies are weak and completely forgetting that politics Cannot Survive as a practice if theres no farmers able to make food for diplomats to eat. so, orlais, if your farmland is all gunched up with battlefields, then you need to fix that, don’t you. but the inquisition is really, really good at providing stability! it’s good at establishing patrols, safe trade routes, providing local employment, and is a fairly reliable consumer of local goods. so pica capitalized on that, and quietly spread inquisition presence all over southern thedas. this led to immense inquisition influence, with very little fanfare.

you can guess why the rulers of thedas tried to get rid of him as soon after corypheus was taken care of as possible. they branded him a tyrant and like. ok. they werent like. super far off. bc at this point he was kinda trying to see how much of the world he could take over before anyone noticed/tried to stop him and also figured he could do like, a way better job at leading it than the current rulers could. and he wasnt beholden to anyone either (not like empress celene! elected to her throne by… uhhhhhhhhhhh divine providence or something. i mean shes doing an ok job but like i didnt vote for her) so if he really really wanted to he could go full dragon reborn

ive got off topic but point is he figures humans have had their go and they fucked it up, so it’s a dwarf’s turn and he’s going to put the world back together himself. (ps hey bioware can we have some dwarf stuff in the next game. im js. weve had a whole load of elf nonsense and its nice and all but dwarfs had a cool ancient society too yknow)

after trespasser he elects to keep the inquisition around, because he worked hard to make this glue keeping the bits of thedas stuck together and he’ll be damned if he’ll let solarse and his minions screw it up. but it gets nerfed heavily and hes pissed about it

he romanced cassandra! i really like their relationship- they look to each other for moral guidance. pica knows he can get flighty and relies on her to keep him in line, and always asks her for advice when he sees her in the courtyard. he usually doesn’t follow it but he feels it’s important to have her perspective on things

they disagree on a lot of stuff (like he made celene and briala co-leaders but she was in favor of gaspard) but he trusts her judgement, and supported her in becoming the divine

he’s a little weird about religion, specifically relating to the stone. the surfacer part of him that hates caves is like pff hippie garbage, but the bit that’s generations old and wants to belong to a larger whole of a culture is Super Into It. cole said he felt the stone’s presence around pica one time and externally he didnt react but internally he was yelling WHAT THE FUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKK I LIVED IN SUCH PEACEFUL IGNORANCE I DIDNT NEED TO KNOW THAAAAAT and after the mythal thing hes like fuck believe what you want. whatever floats your boat. we live in a world where nugs have little people hands so if it comforts you to know a god did that then live your truth

re mages he figures theres a way better way for them to fit into society than the circle. its dumb. they can LIFT THINGS WITH THEIR MINDS. USE THAT FOR BUILDING. they can HEAL WOUNDS WITH THEIR MINDS. hes trans! im not sure how thatd be regarded in dwarf society, in undergrounders i doubt it’d be very acceptable given their emphasis on reproduction, but house cadash has been on the surface for generations and has probably adopted more liberal views on lgbt stuff. either way hes not very open about it, and it’s really easy to pass when he’s around humans (i get the feeling dwarves and humans look for different things, when they’re trying to guess gender. for example hes got some beard scrub, which in human terms means male but in dwarven terms probably either means very young male or unkempt female) (the added implication to this is that varric might keep his beard to stubble so he looks younger) he met krem and had an instant Trans Solidarity moment, which also comes with the Trans Fear that the person Knows that you’re trans and could out you. it’s a weird kind of trust and for me feels like that one performance art piece with the people holding the bow and arrow. anyway hes cool w krem but doesnt talk to him all that much. theyve got pretty different interests.

his best friends are probs cole and dorian! he’s very curious, and likes to hear different perspectives on things. he and dorian often play chess and discuss all sorts of stuff. they end up yelling a lot because they both want to talk but the other started saying something before they were done with their point, which they started saying before the other was done with their point, and so on. he doesnt get very far in the slavery argument until hawke starts chillin at skyhold more regularly and can adequately school him on the state of tevinter slavery (fuck i gotta make a post about that. mal’s had a lot of development since i last talked about him)

he listens very seriously to cole’s observations. he can really appreciate the input of someone who watches so much more than speaks, and heartily supported his ventures in becoming more human.

he also gets along very well with josephine and likes to trick her into taking days off. hes also always down to chat w dagna and scout harding! and varric, of course. it’s always nice to talk to someone without having to crane his neck up at them all the time

Okay The Interesting Part, zir pre-war story: So to fix the crap start story without messing with the start me up mod, ive just head canoned a better reason for Nate, Shaun, Sanctuary Hills, and the disapointingly unrealistic forced career of Lawyer for “Nora” Okay so before being sent out to fight in the war Moxie had a normal life in the city working for the air force as a spy pilot and enemy chatter translator. Not Married, no kids. Then when Moxie gets shot down and shipped home Ze wakes up in the hospital with a whole new fake life. No explanation, no warning, just everything has been changed around them. Suddenly Moxie’s married, not only the most boring man in all of existence, but a man ze’s never heard of, much less met and married. Nate Noname, He talks as if theyve been married for years, calls ze she and Moira, zir birthname. Too weak to fight ze is taken back to what looks like a hastly constructed “American Dream” Levittown cul de sac, almost like a movie set. I mean theyre arent any other buildings anything like these “perfect” show model houses anywhere in Boston. Not to mention its smack dab in the middle of the Minutemen National Historical Park for gods sake. Once there it becomes apparent how deep this deceptive life replacement has gone. There was wedding pictures ze never posed for, knick knacks from their childhood. Their birth certificate, ID, social security card, bank accounts, hell even their answering machine ALL have “her” “married” name on them, even zir voice on the answering machine. Ze calls their parents, just to be congratulated on the wedding, they hang up before ze can get more information from them. All zir old contacts act this way, even ex girlfriends and old friends who know ze would NEVER marry a man. Ze gets desperate and calls zir superior officer in the Air Force only to be told “she” has never been in the armed forces and flatly deny that ze was shot down or ever even a pilot to begin with. Zir dog tags are gone, and so is their hap arnold airforce wings tattoo. The study has a diploma for a law degree in their maiden name. The neighbors all talk as if “she’s” their best friend, a perfect neighbor, baking pies and hosting game night, dismissing zir claims of being Moxie the pilot and not Moira the housewife and lawyer. when ze rushes back to their old apartment a few days later someone else lives there, no record or even the slightest mark that ze lived their for 8 years. Even the specific burn patterns on the counter from zir cooking fiasco, gone. If it wasnt for zir memories ze would have to believe this was always zir life, Moira Noname, wife to Nate, lawyer, homeowner, and social butterfly. Except none of it is true. weeks go by like this, ever new way ze thinks of to get away foiled, always corralled back into suburban hell with a wave and a smile. 2 days before the bombs fall Moxie’s nearly lost zir mind, zir identity. Ze’s starting to doubt their old life. It’s been 6 months since ze woke up, the only anchor Ze’s got left to their old life is the unwavering conviction that this cant be my real life because I would never identify as a woman again, and I defiently wouldnt marry a man. Still, Ze is nearly resigned to this fske life, stuck in a zombie like depression. Nate never wavers, always watching always cheerful, like he cant hear zir cuttting responses to his lovey dovey newlywed talk.Ze decides He’s either brainwashed or extremely dedicated. Ze sleeps on the couch, every attempt at renting an apartment or even a hotel room ending in excusses that the resources are need by the war effort, rooms always full, rental applications always lost. Back to the two days before the bombs, Nate suddenly starts panicing, exclaiming its time its time! Its okay honey ill get you to the hosptial just breathe, forcing “her” into the car off to the hosptial. The doctors act as if “shes” going into labor despite the obvious lack of a baby belly. The give zir something, ze passes out. When Moxue wakes up theres a baby in zir arms and that freak of nature Nate Noname beaming next to zir. He’s named it shaun. Its a real newborn, looking just as Korean as its “parents”. Moxie goes back “home” in a daze, baby in tow. Where did this infant come from, did they steal it from some poor couple, and how can Moxie be expected to take care if it!! Ze hates kids. Moxie cant love this strangers baby, but ze feels sympathy for it, ripped from its real life. Ze wont abandon it entirely, but their is no emotional connection to him. The day the bombs fall feels like a dream. Its like Ze’s walking on air the whole way to the vault, going as slow as possible, seeing the bombs fall would mean it wasnt a trick, even if they killed zir it would be worth it to get a final sense of reality. Nate waits for zir as ze waltzes down the paths out of sanctuary. Whatever or whoever has tied him to zir fate has throughly done their job, he seems to be ready to die for this role he’s playing. The baby, he’s holding it. Nate wont go in the vault without zer. Moxie’s not heartless enough to end the life of an innocent child. If it were only Nate she’d gladly watch that fucker burst into flames. But no, the child hasnt done anything to deserve this. So Ze gets on the platform, relieved when the ICBM screams overhead. It really is the end. Zir’s last thought before the platform pulls them in is “whose guinea pig am I going to be now?”

Im gonna leave it opened ended meaning it could either be a really elaborate military experiment on one of their own soldiers to see if someone can be broken through sheer mental force into accepting a reality they know is false, OR ze had an compelte mental break and made up a fake life for themselves, either life could be the fake one. In the military version Nate is a sadistic yet dedicated solider playing a role for science and his country, shaun stolen from some poor couple shipped off to an interment camp. I just really like this headcanon as it gives a great explanation for why Nate and Shaun feel so disconnected, distant, fake, or just plain boring from the sole survivor. Why do you ship Wyndolliday? (I'm totally expecting the three page essay)

well first let me lead you to my previous post on the subject

and second, i will explain with pleasure. (under a read more cause WOW that got long)

so, ill start this with the honesty that im not a big fan of just wyndoc on its own. just in the name of transparency and to elucidate on authorial bias. also because it is relevant in how i see wyndolliday.

so anyway.

first off, just from a representation standpoint the universe could use a great and sweet poly ship on tv. and a bisexual black man. and just two bisexual men who arent just ‘in a phase’  or any other bullshit (also wynonna is alsways headcanoned by me as pan, but thats not super relevant to this. just putting it out into the universe)

secondly, i think that wyndolliday as a relationship balance each other out really well. in theory any two of them could make a decent relationship pair, though again i would have to keep an eye on wyndoc cause im not sure they bring out the best in each other, but again again thats besides the point and ill admit those two have potential. now, i will get into all the relationship dynamics as i see it, with a prelude about when i first started to see this as like a thing for me:

 so honestly it was the season finale where dolls and doc finally got over their dick measuring contest and got all bff bromance on screen. previously i kinda thought about doc and dolls both dating wynonna and not each other, all consensually and whatnot. though that would require the character development that made dolls and doc not wanna murder each other necessary much the same. but when i saw them on screen getting seriously bromantic i was like “....ah. i dig it.”. plus there was that prompt from the wynonna earp official twitter about the “ghost river triangle” pairing. so that made me think it more too.

now for the dynamics (how they fit and why i think being in the ot3 would be good for them): first - wynonna and doc. like i said earlier, this makes me a little wary. the reasons being as follows: they can bring out the worst in each other and doc is shown to be very willing to manipulate wynonna. but they are also two people who i see as being very emotionally raw. theyre like exposed wires, dangerous and volatile and pouring all their feelings out in every action. they can find in each other another person who processes and expresses themselves in similar ways, who have both faced hardships and come out on the other side a little bitter and a little self-loathing. they see themselves as survivors first and foremost, but they both know what it means to love someone who tries to fight for /good/ and /morals/ (waverly for wynonna, wyatt for doc). and they would be able to find healing for themselves by helping and standing by and experiencing someone else healing from similar wounds in similar ways. sort of like a third-person perspective of themselves. combined with the ease with which people can sometimes face issues when they arent directly their own. they would be emotionally open and provide the same level of emotional openness and comfort they both require. they would probably be able to help each other through emotional times, but on the other hand they are both runners by nature (even if they try not to do that now. even now that theyre “heroes”) so would they turn to each other in hard times? or would they run? would they fear sharing themselves because they might make the other run? and their shared nature makes it easy for them to get caught up in things, get battered around and make things not feel very stable. doc would also be someone who would be willing to go all out and risk anything /do/ anything for his chosen few. wynonna would thrive with someone who would always put her first above everyone else, cause she doesnt even do that for herself. and wynonna represents hope and a future to doc, and at the same time a connection to his past. she’s bitter adn battered and she’s been through hell, but she hasnt given up all hope, and despite what she says she believes in good people. she represents what he could be, and what he strives to become (he protestes the entire way, but he still wants to achieve it. he’d rather not try at all than fail he thinks most days. its easier on his tired heart)

            i think dolls would help their relationship. hes a very steady person, and i think he would act as a sort of grounding to their passion and an anchor that they can come back to when they run. he is not someone who runs, and i think they both need that. so while doc and wynonna can connect as raw nerves, he can serve as a centerpoint for them. in this relationship i think he serves as a sort of a “calm in the storm” kind of man. and he’d be able to sit and listen and be able to think things through when doc and wynonna get carried away. plus he’d be able to mediate their arguments. he may be steady and calm, but that comes with a heavy amount of stubbornness and an unwillingness to back down.

wynonna and dolls - i think these two compliment each other. wynonna, as mentioned earlier, is like a raw nerve or an exposed wire, and dolls is very self-contained. the man is practically made of willpower from what ive seen. when wynonna feels something its all over her face and her actions. she feels everything deeply. i think dolls feels things jsut as deeply, but he keeps it all bottled up. they are both just as stubborn, and i think they provide a challenge for each other. wynonna would help dolls express himself, and dolls would help wynonna learn when to stop and take a breath before things run away on her. on the other hand, would wynonna get the kind of emotional comfort she clearly craves from dolls, who is not expressive by nature? would dolls be able to keep up emotionally with someone who is so /on/ all the time, who needs so much and asks so much? they also carry the same kinds of guilt, i think. they both have things they feel guilty about, things that have changed the course of their life and in both cases (in my uneducated opinion) i think these things that cause guilt are in some way a part of who they are. they have to look in the mirror and face themselves when they believe that their very nature and legacy is tied to this terrible guilt. and the entire reason people need them and that they can now do /good/ is because of this guilty thing. i think they both need someone who can relate to that feeling. but at the same time, maybe they need someone who can approach it without those kinds of conflicting feelings. i also think that wynonna is (once again) more hopeful and optimistic than dolls. she sees in him someone better than he thinks he is, and he sees the same in her. she gives him a reason to maybe hope that he can be better, and that they can make the world better. he gives her a way to make the world what she’s always known was in it. he gives her a chance to prove to herself that she is good and she is worth it and he believes in her every step of the way.

              doc adds something to this dynamic as well. he provides the midpoint between dolls and wynonna. in some of the ways that they are opposites he can provide a middle ground between the pair. he can do quiet and controlled (sorta) and he can do wildly emotional. hes always been adaptable. while he is naturally an emotional person, he has far longer been a person who is good with people and that requires give and take. hes a con man. he can play the waiting game. and he may not like it much, but he can wait with the best of them. and when wynonna needs emotions freely given (not dragged out like pulling teeth) he can do that as well. and when dolls needs /time/ and a moment to pull himself together and a break, doc knows when to back off and let things sit for a bit (wynonna’s not so good at that, so sometimes he disappears and takes wynonna with him and dolls is so grateful, but he’ll never say)

doc and dolls. these two have less time together in canon where they arent fighting so its a bit harder to predict their relationship, but i think they fit. they would be the kind of couple that constantly fights and bickers, but theyre there for each other in quiet ways. theyre not as vocal about their feelings as wynonna is, they show their feelings in actions instead of words (wynonna just needs to be /heard/ and acknowledged and listened to. she spent so many years of not that, she cant go back). they can bond over sometimes just needing to make a fuss, over both of them being the type to get things done, over “the ends justify the means” (wynonna is a survivor, but her continual hope and belief in /goodness/ means that sometimes she will sacrifice the most practical option for the right option). they also get along in some of the ways that dolls and wynonna get along. dolls is still a steady presence for doc and doc is still a motivator for dolls to share. they both have high respect for each other and they both are unstoppable when they get a goal in mind

                where wynonna comes in here is more integral than the other dynamics. for all that doc and dolls are in many ways good for each other, they are not the kind of people that each one would normally go for. shes really what brought them into each other’s orbit. and with her they are able to avoid the kind of pessimism and bitterness that they may otherwise fall into. wynonna may not know it, but she has the kind of personality that can inspire people. in another life she is a natural leader. people follow her without questioning, she’s charismatic and she’s the head of some sort of movement. in this life, she draws people in and keeps a few very close and very loyal.  doc and dolls have such opposing ideologies that their similarities and differences that make them good for each other may not have even gotten the chance. but with wynonna’s tendency to draw people in and keep them close, and her ability to love so fiercely, and her unique combination of experience and beliefs that put her in line with both ideologies bring them together and allow them to grow together.

so as a group i just like the idea that these three have a constant push and pull between them, where they can see each other in ways that not everyone can, and they have such unique experiences that only they can relate to. they all believe in the best of each other even when they dont see it in themselves, and through this they all help each other to be better and inspire themselves to try to be their best. besically these three beautiful, badass, stubborn assholes have my heart and i think they all shoul dhave each other’s.

So, I just have a question about transformers gender, and I hope this isn't take the wrong way because I think you have the right to believe they have a gender and am probably a dumb curious person but do you think cybertrons expect mechs being with other mechs, fems being with other fems or would they think of it as strange and something that wouldn't happen at all on there planet? Am new to the fandom so that why am asking because am just cerious about that.

Wouldn’t it make you mad if they said “ no thay’s impossible you can’t be what you want to be. It has never been said canonly that they don’t have genders IN MOST OF THE UNIVERSES. In RID she said “ whats a girl “ or she whatever she said, but it’s weird because that’s based off TFP and they called Arcee a she and stuff before they met humans (and in the flashback episode on cybertron with Clif ) so I’m kinda confused as to why she didn’t know what she was, but again, they end up doing so.

They’re not “Robots” They are “Robotic atomic organisms “ They have a spirit, they live, they breath, they have to have energon to survive which is as well their blood. They have DNA like us, but it’s different and called CNA. Just because they’re robots doesn’t mean they’re ROBOTS that don’t have any organs or other parts like a human has. Different? Yes. Are they organs? Yes. Just because they are robots doesn’t mean a thing. They are an alien race.

Again with canon. I go by what they call each other. He, she, him, her, his, hers. If they wanted to be something else, they would call themselves or others something else. Which ties into your real question which I will get into.

So, until they say they want to be called an it, or if a mech wants to be called a she or a femme wants to be called a he, or any wants to be called they/them…. Then I will. But until then I will gender them by the pronouns they go by like I would a human being. Oh Mike, you wanna be called a ___ now? Also, if they don’t have some type of gender system. Why even call them mech and femme ? I thought people didn’t like giving them labels because gender is labels they say? So is separating femmes from mechs. I don’t get it. Why call them mechs and femmes if they don’t gender them in some way? Mech is close as hell to Man and Femme is close as hell to Female. To me, anyway.

Are they open about liking the same sex

I think they are. I think it’s normal on their planet in their race. I think anyone can carry a sparkling because I go by either them giving birth from the spark or being created by vector sigma. 

One of the big reasons why I think people dislike to gender them is because they think it will cause them to be like humans and cause a big fight over sexuality when really it doesn’t? No sexuality is more superior than the rest or another. It’s ALL equal.  In MTMTE Chromodome and Rewind are together and noone cares. They’re like “ Oh yeah. They’re a couple. “ They’re not like how evil humans are. They don’t care what you are. 

“ Oh your a mech that likes a femme? Cool ! “

So yeah I think it’s totally normal among them just like how you see heterosexual more during the day at the store or anywhere like that. With them? You’d see all kinds of couples tbh and no one would give a hoot. 

But again, those are my personal opinions and Headcanons. I’m not pushing this on anyone, i’m not forcing this on anyone, everyone has their own stuff. Don’t gender them? Cool.
