*The Best of Intentions**
Chapter 2
Erebor had fallen silent as night had settled in. Torches remained lit, casting shadows to dance across the cold stone walls. He walked along quickly and quietly, grateful for the stillness of the late hour. His nightmare was still fresh in his minds eye.
He had awoken with a start, something mixed between a shout and sob caught in his throat. His night clothes and blanket had been drenched with the cold sweats that sent tremors through his body. It had felt so real, his body had been heavy and slow, as if trying to move through molasses.
This time, Fili had been run through, the blade bloodied and dripping onto the ice with deafening splotches. He had watched the life leave his beloved nephews eyes. He opened his mouth to scream, but nothing came out. Silence ringing in his ears as he watched in slow motion, Fili, plummet to the ice flow to shatter into a million pieces as if he had been made of bloodied glass all this time.
Azog's raspy, evil laugh mocked him as he stood trapped, feet frozen to the bloodied ice flow around him. "Gazat glob (dwarf filth). Izg thrak matum-u latu-uk! ( I bring death to you all)
"No! I killed you! I ran you through! I removed your head as you did my grandfathers! You are dead!" He screamed furiously, fighting to free his legs. He went to grab his sword, but it was gone. He looked around him frantically, confused. He never went into battle without his sword!
Azog's maniacal chuckle was loud in his ears, echoing around him in the ruins of Raven Hill. He looked forward, and his heart stopped. Azog was standing directly in front of him, looking down at him with a sadistic glee in his eyes, his lips curled to reveal sharp, bloody teeth.
"Latu paashnar az-izish, snork glob! Latu paashnar bhadur lab matum! (you cannot kill me, worthless fool! You cannot change your death!)
It was swift, the icy hot pain that flooded his chest. He looked down and saw Azog's sword buried in his chest. "Mmmmaaaattttt!" (Ddddiiiieeee!) The white orc hissed as he leaned forward, pushing his dual sword arm deeper into his chest…
He fought down the bile that tried to rise up into his throat. "No, he's dead. Fili and Kili are alive. I removed his accursed head from his miserable body." He gritted through his teeth. He walked past the rooms that held the tainted treasure hoard of his grandfather, without even a passing glance. He needed the night air, a fresh reminder that he was indeed alive and that all was relatively well.
He had fallen under the curse of the dragon sickness, much to his never ending shame. He had managed to shake it off; he fought against it with all of his might. But by then it was too late. He had damaged what little rapport he had had with the people of Esgaroth and Dale. He hoped fervently that Bard would look past this grievous transgression, and allow him to make good the promise he had bestowed upon Bard and his people.
Thranduil was an entirely different matter however. But they had all fought, and they had all lost in equal measure. No one was better or higher than the other. He had to prove that he was better than his grandfather. He was not a greedy, mad king. No! Nor would he ever be! His rule would be different. It had to be. For his people, for his family and friends. But most of all, for himself.
**********
Several days later…
Large snowflakes drifted silently onto the battle torn field outside of Erebor and Dale. Both cities were now bustling with sounds of construction, while the camp housing the Elven army of Mirkwood was slowly being taken down and the wounded readied for their slow trek home.
The royal tents were still up, housing Thranduil and his company. The elf king, his son Legolas, and Bard the Dragon Slayer were leaning over the table, discussing possible trade agreements for the future.
A guard entered and bowed swiftly before the table. "My lord, the Dwarf king and his kin are requesting an audience."
Thranduil's eyebrow raised slightly, his expression schooled like that of a carved statue. "Very well. Show them in."
Legolas and Bard glanced at one another in alarm as they took a step back to stand behind Thranduil.
Thorin stepped inside the tent, closely followed by his nephews who flanked him on either side along with Balin and Dwalin who brought up the rear of their small group.
The atmosphere in the tent was thick with tension. The dwarven kings face was stoic, as was his kin. Thranduil noticed immediately that the older dwarf with the snow white beard and hair had a wooden box clasped securely in his arms and quickly settled his gaze on the dwarf that stood before him.
Thorin swallowed thickly before he averted his eyes and gave a slight bow. "My lords." He greeted, his voice deep but civil. "I hope all is fairing well with you and your men."
Thranduil barely contained his surprise, while his son and Bard didn't even try to conceal theirs. "Considering all that has happened; yes. As you have probably gathered we are preparing for our departure."
Thorin nodded in acknowledgement. "Yes indeed. Thus my unannounced arrival." He cleared his throat as he adjusted his stance, squaring his shoulders while clasping his hands behind his back. "It is good that the Dragon slayer is here as well. What I have to say is for both of you."
The elf king cocked his head slightly to the side, shooting a glance to Bard then back to Thorin, his eyebrow still raised. "Very well." Was his cool, guarded reply.
Thorin could feel his kin's eyes on him as he took another moment to still his racing heart and the static that coursed through his veins. He knew this was going to take every ounce of humility he possessed. But it had to be done, not only for his people but for himself. He prayed to the Valar to give him all the strength he could to keep him on this painful path of redemption.
“I thought myself strong enough to withstand the evil that had overtaken my grandfather. And I was wrong." He had to pause, as if the words physically pained him to speak aloud. "I was too blinded by the past, to what my people lost, to see what I had become. And I stand here before you to make the first steps to fixing what I broke. I was so focused on you failing to come to our aid, to you turning your back on my people, I failed to remember that it was my Grandfather, lost in his own battle, who struck the first blow in what destroyed the ties to our kingdoms."
Thorins jaw clenched as he motioned with his head for Balin to step forward with the box he was holding. Balin stepped forward to place the box in front of Thranduil.
The Elvenking's eyes widened, not fully believing what he was hearing as he looked at the teak box that had been placed in front of him. Another brief moment of silence fell in the tent before Thranduil slowly opened the box, to see twinkling against luscious navy velvet, the gems of Lasgalen. "Calathiel." He trembled as his slender fingers traced the gems before him in reverence.
Thorin watched his once nemesis, guilt churning in his stomach when he heard him whisper his wife's name brokenly.
"What made you change your mind?" Thranduil's gaze snapped back up to Thorin questioningly.
“It was wrong for my Grandfather to keep them from you." Thorin's jaw was still clenched. "Before Smaug came, my father and I were attempting to have them restored to you without his knowledge. The sickness had such a hold on him, he couldn't see reason. They were never ours to keep in the first place."
It was Legolas that stepped forward, when it was apparent that Thranduil was at a loss for words. "Thank you."
The sincerity in the elf prince's voice allowed the dwarves to relax slightly.
Thorin gave the prince a grateful nod, his ice blue eyes softening a fraction. He then turned his attention to Bard. "At your earliest convenience, we can discuss terms in regards what is owed to your people."
“Yes, of course. That would be most appreciated." Bard found his voice, shocked that the Dwarven King was so amiable. Bard was a good judge of character, and could tell that the king that stood before him now was not the same revenge driven dwarf that he had met back in Lake-town. It all seemed such a long time ago, when in reality it had only been a little over a month prior. He wanted to be free of the accursed gem that started this entire mess. He pulled the Arkenstone out slowly, and shifted its hefty weight in his hand. As he looked down at its luminous body, he saw the dwarves tense. Bard, without any further hesitation, stepped towards Thorin and held out the gem.
Thorin didn't hide the surprise in his eyes. "You would give up your leverage?"
Bard shook his head. "There is no need for leverage anymore. I trust you to keep your word."
He couldn't pinpoint what the exact emotion was that flashed across the Dwarf Kings face, but whatever it was it was a powerful one that made him appear uncomfortable. He eyed the gem he once held at the highest priority with uncertainty. "Balin. If you could please." His voice rough with emotion.
Balin quickly stepped forward and let Bard hand him the Arkenstone. He nodded appreciatively and stepped back to stand by his brother as he secured the sacred gem inside his jacket.
“Ill leave you to conclude your business. Good travels to you." Thorin inclined his head and bowed slightly again to the Elven King and Prince.
Thranduil looked up finally from his wife's heirlooms. It was the first time Thorin had seen the king's icy disposition waver. It was a rarity indeed that he was caught off guard. "No i Melain na le. (May the Valar be with you.)" Thranduil's peaceful parting surprised Thorin, it was spoken in the most civil tone he had ever heard the Eleven King speak in. It was a tone of quiet respect.
Uncomfortable, Thorin nodded again and turned quickly to exit. He couldn't get out of the claustrophobic tent quick enough. He exhaled in relief as soon as the crisp and snowy air hit his face.
"Well… that was…unexpected." Kili muttered as he looked at his uncle in concern. Fili looked over at his brother and shook his head quickly. "Not the time." He mouthed.
“Well, that couldn't of gone any better. Well done Laddie." Balin placed a congratulatory hand on Thorin's shoulder, conscious of his friends wounds.
“I must say I didn't even see that coming." Gandalfs voice made the dwarves jump in alarm. "I didn't even need to instigate that. I feel as if I'm no longer needed here." Thorin rolled his eyes as he turned to look the wizard. "I am perfectly capable of handling sensitive diplomatic matters without your pretty words."
Gandalf smiled, his eyes twinkling happily. "Then I will be leaving Erebor in the most capable hands. Not that I ever doubted you for a moment."
"Your leaving already Mr. Gandalf?" Kili asked with his disappointment evident. They all knew that once he left he would be escorting Bilbo home to the Shire.
"Well, not just yet. We will probably stay for the coronation then leave on our merry way."
Thorin nodded in understanding, not entirely surprised with his friends travel plans. "I am pleased to hear that your staying for the coronation."
“Oh, Mr. Baggins and I wouldn't want to miss it. It will be a most glorious occasion. Gives me the perfect opportunity to light off some of my firecrackers."
Fili and Kili grinned, excited to finally see the 'wizpoppers' Bilbo had always described in wondrous detail.
The wizard began walking alongside the dwarves as they made their way back towards Erebor. Fili and Kili were talking excitedly with Balin and Dwalin about the grand parties that had been thrown in Erebor in the days before Smaug. Gandalf looked down at the silent King, who was lost in his own turbulent thoughts. The wizard's brow furrowed in concern. "Your father would of been very proud of you. Of what you accomplished today with Mirkwood and Dale."
Thorin grunted in acknowledgment, still looking ahead of him. "If I had just kept my wits at the beginning of all this like I was supposed to, we wouldn't have to be doing all this groundwork now." He bit out, his words dripping in self loathing.
Gandalf shook his head, not surprised that Thorin was battling with these personal demons. "You are not doing yourself or your people any justices by taking on the shortcomings of the ones who came before you. You did the very thing your grandfather couldn't bring himself to do, you overcame the illness that doomed his reign. In fact, dragon sickness is not something the inflicted walk away from in one piece."
Thorin stopped walking abruptly, his eyes flashing an electric fire. "My grandfather succumbed slowly over centuries of wealth. I was afflicted by the time I stepped on the shores of Lake-town." He growled. "I was weak."
Gandalf jabbed his staff into the ground before him and leaned down slightly to look Thorin in his eyes adamantly. "Erebor was permeated by a wicked dragon's unquenchable greed for over a century. It was by no fault of your own that you were affected. But what matters most is that you fought your way out of its control. There is no recorded instance of someone overcoming it, You are the first to hold that title. And that, Thorin Oakenshield, is something to be proud of. You must remember that we are only shaped by the situations we find the strength to conquer."
Some of the tension melted from Thorin's face, and he relaxed his defensive stance.
“You must learn to be kind to yourself. You are just as deserving of leniency than anyone in this world deserving of it. And before you say anything, you DO deserve it."
Thorin smiled slightly, letting out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding. "Thank you my friend."
Gandalf grunted, satisfied for the time being that he was heard. "Good. Heed my words and all will be well with you."
Thorin snorted and shook his head, still smirking. They continued walking, walking side by side in companionable silence for the first time in over year, before the quest to reclaim Erebor was even set into motion.

He watched as she was lost in thought for a breath and then continued to eat her pie. Usually he would have worried about what she was thinking but the tender blush of her cheeks made him smile and not pry, it couldn’t have been anything bad with a face like that. It was lovely just having this moment alone to talk and discuss everything that had been mounting in their lives and finally coming to a head but for now he figured that he should just rest in the knowledge that it could wait until they returned
“You’re right, azyûngal, one step at a time” he said gently with a smile still caressing her hand as he hadn’t let it go just yet. it was warm and calming and the simple act it was what he yearned so long for it was sending butterflies a flight in his stomach just for the sensation alone.
“So, should we spend the day in Dale before we head back? Or just enjoy the lakeside?” He asked her with a smile as he rubbed her hand with his thumb.
-
“Well could you blame him??” Asked Dis to Thorin after they had finally finished eating. All morning they had discussed the night before and even more this morning with fili and idunn now both out of the mountain. Kili had gotten annoied after he ate and requested that he leave the table but dis insisted he stay a while longer so now he was juggling spoons and letting them clang on the table every once in a while, especially at moments of most annoyance to him.
“I could. L i understand BUT there are ways it should be done. He looks like a mad youngling” (clang) thorin sai expressed looking at his tea, cold again as he had been rating and complaining with every step of the situation. Thinya had already left to start her duties with her ladies, and unknowingly to thorin she started gathering information and planning ways to help the couple. She was annoied at the way he was making such a fuss when he was the most lovestruck dwarf out there. “I jus’ feel, that he could have just told us that he had someone in mind instead of doing this. I’m more angry that he feels we will just ignore what he wants and just refuses to hear what we have to say”
“Well i talked to him, maybe he just knows his uncle” dis said as she ate her last bit of food as thorin scowled “no, he just doesn’t want to hear bad news. I know we know the dwarrowdam, and she went on the journey with is and i will take into account that we all share that. But i still haven’t had time to get to know her (clang)and there are still other dwarf lords that could offer up trade and have daughters to show off. (Clang)You’d be surprised at how petty they could get for not even getting a chance.” Thorin grumbled as he spoke and kili let out a long sigh and let al the spoons fall on the table and thorin looked at him
“Do ye have somethin’ t’share kili?” Thorin asked kili a little raised and frustrated at the constant panging in his ear and the later opened his mouth ready to speak but smiled and said “no, i dont think i should” he said and thorin’s hands sort of jumped up like he was going to choke the air itself and his eyes gave a wee twitch as dis gave a little laugh and a shake to her head “okay then, i think you’ve been here long enough i’m done hearing those spoons” he said as he watched kili hop up quickly and start leaving before they changed their minds. And just as the door closed he smiled and dis adjusted in her seat pressing her palms into the table to extend her spine into its tall back
“ he’s going to tell him everything you said” she said with a laugh and at that he smirked tiredly as he rubbed his face with a large palm “oh i know, i feel he will tell him what i can’t at least, maybe he will understand my point of view during the wild rantings of kili” he said as he sighed a while, as dis smiled “well lets hope it works in your favor then. I just want fili to be happy after all of this. Just because now we are in a position to give him a great wealthy connected wife doesn’t mean he has to have what WE believe is best for him, we should give her a fair chance. For fili’s sake.” She said gently looking at her fingers before looking to her brother scowling at her now “.. we’ll see.” Thorín said after a little while of thinking.
‘..just want him to be happy..’
@idunnthedwarrowdam
When Fili took that time to try and enjoy the ride but the anxiety of just thinking of that dragon under the water reminded him of a story Thorin told him about when he was suffering dragon sickness. standing in the middle of that golden floor feeling like he was sinking and smaug was underneath it and he feared that any moment the dragon would swoop down and breathe fire or even burst out of the water when he was near the shores again- ’relax fili, everything is okay…its dead.. the nly thing that is real and alive there is her…idunn’ he thought as he opened his eyes again and sighed blinking a bit his eyes as he got closer and closer to the lake and as it seemed to grow before his eyes locked on her soaked red hair beautiful like oxidizing copper in the sun and he smiled as he hopped off his pony slowly walked up behind her not missing the cheeky fact that she was indeed in her undergarments and he saw how beautiful her frame was and her focus allowing his big feet to sneak up behind her and he couldn’t help but feel peace when she was anywhere around and he just let out a long sigh and could see her jump lightly, probably recognizing his voice
“so is this what you do when things get bad? you run away and i find you wet and half naked, i guess it could be worse haha” he teased her with a laugh as he came closer to her and leaned over before he kissed her head gently and didn’t pry on the front of her he wanted to wait, he wanted to marry her before he found out her body it was a blessing and he wanted to wait more than ever. “whatever he said you don’t have to worry because he doesn’t know and you are my life, my one and no matter how anyone may think i am not having a lap in judgement. i found my one and i’m walking through hellfire to have her. So my love, when we go back to that mountain i want you to go through those gates with me hand in hand and just be us. or however you want to do it, i am not ashamed and if just walking back together is what you wanted we can do that too because it doesn’t mean you aren’t in love, you have a right to be cautiousness if that will help you i will do that. so long as you are by my side.i am so happy i could dance naked through Erebor haha” he said and he smiled at her then stood up again “now put on your clothes so i can hold you properly Azyungal” he said with a chuckle and turned around “i’m not looking” he said and was smiling to himself with a chuckle.

NEVER TRUST A SPELL ( The Hobbit x Fem! Reader )
AUTHOR NOTE! It makes me so happy to know that you requested my writing! So I think I'm going to turn this into a mini series, because I feel like there is so much and it would feel cramped to squish it all into one. <3
pairing: The Fellowship x Fem! Reader
prompt: Spell goes wrong and the Fellowship have to deal with the 'special' side effects.
word count: 300+ words
It was every fangirl's dream. Waking up one morning and seeing that you were in your favorite book. Being able to meet your favorite characters. Join them on their adventures. Potentially change the outcome of your least favorite moments.
But, waking up in your fandom that didn’t have birth control or really any treatment for your period was a little stressful. The pain was already unbearable. Add not having any painkillers on hand, it takes the excitement away from waking up in your favorite book.
“Why couldn’t I fall in with some tylenol?” I whimper, clutching my stomach.
Everything was cramping up. My stomach. My legs. My lower back. It hurt to even stand. Why I had stupidly thought that throwing away my brith contorl was a good idea, I don’t why? It was really really stupid of me. And now I was suffering because of past me.
“Gandalf, you're a wizard. Is there no cure for the pain?” I whine, holding my stomach.
“There is one..” His voice trails off at the end, “But it is not the best and there are many side effects.”
“I am in pain. I’ve run out of herbs. I will do anything.” I whine, giving him my best puppy eyes.
“But, the risks..” He argues.
“I can handle the consequences. I just need this pain to go away.” I beg, “Please just make it go away.”
⎯¤⚔️¤⎯
Opening my eyes, I blink a few times wondering where exactly I was, the fluttering of the wind keeping me awake. I didn’t remember falling asleep. I also didn’t know where I had fallen asleep. Rubbing my eyes with my hands, I let out a loud yawn, sleep calling me back. Maybe I should go back to bed? It was really soft and comfy. The growling of my stomach fills the air. Nevermind, I want food.
Standing up from the ground, I find that my clothes were really heavy, suspiciously heavy. Staring down at my shirt, it was practically swallowing me whole. Furrowing my brows together, I rub my eyes, praying that this was just a really bad dream. Opening my eyes, everything was the same, extremely baggy clothing.
“Um..guys?” I call out, my voice coming out much more squeaky.
Covering my hands with my mouth, I froze, that was me? Peeling my hand away from my mouth, I shake my head, either this was a really realistic dream or I was somehow a child again. But, that’s impossible.
Picking up the ends of my now large shirt, I freeze as I see the size of my hand. It was a lot smaller than before. Lifting up my shirt, my legs were now a hundred times shorter than before. Was I?
“Oh, shit.” I whisper, gulping.

Kili with a reader who has a young child. Maybe pre relationship, how they meet, or how he is with having a mixed family.
She Loves Me, Kili Durin
Fanfic/headcanons, gender neutral! reader
Fluff
Word count: 1057
Tw: a child. Mentions of a burn? But a slight burn. That’s it, really.
Summary: Sweet moments of your relationship with Kili while having a child pre-relationship. Includes both headcanons and blurbs.
Decided this request would be better in form of headcanons, but it turned into a fic. Oops.
In all honesty, Kili would be frightened at first. He is still young and still considered as a kid by some (though he definitely doesn’t like it and isn’t afraid to let people know).
He would be so kind and gentle, but the poor man is so clueless. Regardless of the age of the child, he will not know what to do. You’d have to gently explain everything to him.
He’s the best father figure, though. He’s very laid back, but surprisingly good in educating them. While still unsure of himself, he’s doing a good job eventually.
The absolute sweetest in general. Not only against the kid, but moreover to you. He’s been so patient and caring the whole relationship. The support he offered throughout the years is astonishing. He cares so much about the both of, it’s adorable.
“Amrâlime! Do you know where-“ Kili had walked into your home without an announcement, pulling the door open as if he owned the place. Right in front of him, stood your young daughter, staring up at the dwarf with wide eyes.
“Hello,” He spoke, his voice now softer. The guilty eyes of your daughter caught him off guard. Silently, he scanned her body, until they fell onto her hand, where a red spot began to blossom.
“What happened?” Kili asked, now suddenly concerned as he knelt down to her level, holding her hand gently.
The girl, however, shook her head lightly, not daring to look at the dwarf in front of her. Shame and guilt flushed through her as pain filled her hand.
“I’m not mad,” He picked up quickly, brushing over the red spot lightly. “I want to help. Did you burn it?”
A timid nod came from her, causing Kili to stand up, still holding her hand, though his hold felt as if it wasn’t even there.
“Have you cooled it yet?” He pressed silently, already walking towards the kitchen with the girl in tow.
“No.” She mumbled, looking down at her feet.
“It’s just me,” Kili tried to joke, leaning down for a second, before picking the girl up, holding her up in one arm. “I’m not angry. I just want to prevent it from getting worse. Otherwise, it will hurt even longer. And we don’t want that, right?”
A shake of her head, making Kili laugh, setting her down on top of the cupboard, next to the sink. Without a moment of hesitation, he grabbed a towel from the chair, running the water.
“Keep it under here first.” He instructed, placing the towel on her lap as he carefully forced her hand under the tap.
“It’s cold.” The girl responded, cringing at the ice cold sensation.
“It’s meant to be.” Kili chuckled. “So that, when we’re done with the water, we can get you warmed up with this.”
The dwarf’s eyes ran around the kitchen, before it landed on a bowl of freshly baked cookies. The girl’s eyes followed him, though they furrowed together when they landed on the bowl.
“We’re not supposed to eat them yet.” She sighed defeatedly.
“They won’t know.” Kili whispered, gesturing towards her hand, urging her to keep it under the sink.
When he got a nod in return, he ran towards the bowl, grabbing two, still warm cookies, handing one to the girl.
“Eating your pain away always worked for me.” He winked, a bright smile on his face as he happily ate the cookie in his hand.
Somehow, a tiny laugh managed to escape the girl’s mouth, making Kili laugh as well, nudging her slightly.
“There’s that laugh.” He praised, his mouth still filled with his food. “Keep that attitude.”
Also great cuddle material. Nights are often spend on the floor, above the blankets. Your head is often in the crook of his neck while your daughter is completely sprawled out over his chest.
Kili dubbed it the ‘cat-rule’. He cannot move until she will. He will break his back if it meant for her to get some good sleep.
Please remind him to stretch every so often. His back cracks so often; it’s concerning.
Your daughter also tends to pick up Kili’s habits; speaking with a mouth full, cracking knuckles, trailing mud indoors, drinking milk out of the can etc.
At first you had scolded her for it, but upon noticing Kili did it too, you toned it down. You think it’s great she looks up to him, even though it is the less desirable things she takes after. It’s appreciated nonetheless.
Kili loves it, obviously. He will tease you about it relentlessly.
“Kili!” You scolded, looking down at the mud that now decorated your living room.
“Yes, ghivashel?” Came from the room next door, his head poking through the opening.
“I just mopped the floor!”
The dwarf walked inside, looking down at the mess decorating the rugs and wooden floors.
“That’s not me.” He mumbled, gesturing towards his feet, which were only decorated in socks. “I haven’t been outside since sunrise.”
You rolled your eyes, sighing loudly as you walked up to him, letting your head fall against his chest. The dwarf was quick to connect his hand with the back of your head softly, running his hands through your hair.
“It was her, wasn’t it?” You frowned.
“Unless my feet shrank overnight, yes; it is your daughter.” Kili decided to joke, placing a kiss on the top of your head.
“I bet you’re loving this.” You complained, raising your head to look into his eyes.
A big smile decorated Kili’s face, the crinkles around his eyes nearly too beautiful to be annoyed at.
“I am,” He confessed. “She loves me.”
Overal; he’s so excited to be part of your little family. And though it did take him quite a while to grow into it, he is absolutely smitten with it now.
He never saw himself as a family man, certainly not at his age, but he is so glad you happened to him. He tries so hard and it definitely doesn’t go without notice.
Does his very best to make your daughter his clone. He has come this far now, he can’t give up.
She’s more responsible than him. When she grows of age, she scolds Kili for not hanging his cloak the second he sets foot into your house.
You love it, of course.

War and Victory
Five months stood in the past since (y/n) magically appeared in front of everyone's eyes thanks to a mischief of Gandalf, after that she had been reluctantly accepted into Thorin's Company. Her relationship with the dwarves at first was not the best, however with the passing of days it improved little by little; now everyone treated her as if she were an old friend of theirs.
(Y/n) was lively, although most of her scandal and shamelessness led her to be the victim of the constant scolding that Thorin dedicated to his nephews. The three of them were somewhat common personalities, after a week or two the Li brothers and (y/n) had easily turned to nail and grime. It was no wonder why they had become best friends so quickly, both princes adored her, especially since (y/n) used to cunningly challenge their uncle, defying his words with a playfulness that drove the poor dwarf king mad and ended him musing incomprehensible words in khuzdul.
Today everyone had stopped in a town of men to reload ammunition of food and medicinal herbs. Being so late Thorin had agreed to stay in a tavern, the dwarves would share two rooms and the last one was left free for Bilbo, Gandalf and the human; luckily for (y/n) the hobbit was downstairs with the rest of the Company enjoying their free time. (Y/n) needed to talk with the Istari about a painful subject that she had been hiding in the depths of her soul since her arrival in Middle Earth.
As they approached the Lonely Mountain her heart stumbled more full of regret while remembering the tragic losses that all would suffer in the future.
"Gandalf, it's time for us to talk," she began, turning her cheerful face off with a pained expression, "you told me in the beginning that it was you who brought me here. You revealed to me that you were aware of everything I know about the future of Durin's sons and you asked me to keep the secret until I understood the purpose of my visit" the wizard looked towards the wood of the floor instead of her pleading eyes "I ... I think or rather I feel that from the first moment I came I knew what my role was. Five months have passed and my suspicions about this purpose it's now confirmed ... and I... I have made a mistake" she swallowed "a feeling that I already brought with me from my world was reinforced, I feel so desperate to prevent them from dying that…"
"Do you think it is correct to change the flow of events?" the wizard interrupted.
"I believe… is no longer important if this is correct or not. I adore Fili and Kili, and I love Thorin. I have been in love with him since I read his story in my world!"
"And do you love him enough to lay down your life for him?" he asked sternly. Gandalf's pale eyes piercing her soul. "You must think wisely about what you want to do, young lady. Yes, it is true that I have brought you to be the one who is choosing the destiny of Durin, and I know this is a difficult decision. But why would you lay down your life for someone whose feelings are not mutual?" his words were a hard blow to (y/n), but she remained firm "what will you gain by saving them? If Thorin lives he will be king of a kingdom of dwarves, do you think there will be an opportunity for you if you survive as well? Do not judge me as cruel, I just want to open your blind eyes from an illusion whose expectatives of being fulfilled are almost nil. If Thorin becomes king he must marry a dwarrowdam, a lady of noble birth; diplomacy does not allow a human to sit on the queen's throne or let an hybrid inherit the crown" his face became sympathetic, almost paternal "think, dear (y/n), you love Thorin however you don't need to risk your life for your feelings to be returned".
By now with such crude words spilled out from Gandalf's mouth, (y/n) was already biting the inside of her cheek as helding the fat tears that yearned to fall from her eyes.
"I don't care about my feelings! If he lives, I'll go happily into the arms of death!" she exclaimed with a broken voice, "he has been one of my greatest wishes! I am willing to fulfill it at all cost!"
The dwarves found themselves drinking huge mugs of ale that accompanied the stories and jokes that were told. The atmosphere down there was happy, even Thorin kept a tiny curve in his lips that, unfortunately, fell as soon as his eyes were fixed on the person who was coming down the distant stairs in a hurry. The dwarf King distinguished crystal drops sliding in her face. She was crying. Why was she crying? Why was her vivacity reduced to ashes? At no time in the five months that they had been sharing Thorin had seen her discouraged like that.
Without even thinking about it Thorin apologized and got up following (y/n), who had left the tavern. He didn't just go with her out of curiosity, night was falling, it was dangerous for her to be defenseless outside but he would never admit it out loud, not yet at least.
Thorin found her curled up in the barn where the ponies rested, her arms hugging her legs that kept her face hidden. He approached carefully as she quietly sobbed. Was a matter of time when Thorin felt his throat go dry as he discovered how much he hated seeing her so blue.
"(Y/n)...? " he called soft.
When he didn't obtain an answer, he preferred to take a seat next to her. Thorin gently dropped his hand on her back for support. There he stood by his side, feeling unable to formulate a word as he heard the heartbroken whimpers that made him wonder what was the reason for such sadness. And finally, after half an hour she calmed down, straightened her back and proceeded to lean against the wall of wood; her expressionless face was soaked, eyelids as reddish as her nose, yet the pained glow reflected from her orbs was the last straw for Thorin's patience.
"Who made you cry?" he asked demandly.
"Myself," (y/n) said in a whisper "Thorin, please answer this with honesty. If you were aware that your life is shortened with each step taken ... and if you have in your hands the possibility of preventing it, would you do it? Would you try to save yourself?"
What kind of question was that?
Upon analyzing his words, Thorin was clearly desconcert.
"What are you talking about (y/n)? Is your life in danger?"
"Answer my question, please" she turned her face bathed in anxiety, "would you save yourself even if it means paying with what you love the most?"
"I wouldn't, living without what I love the most would be a punishment worse than death. Tell me now, what is wrong with you? Are you ill? Should I call Óin?"
(Y/n) smiled without grace, but such action was interpreted by the dwarf as the synonym of a goodbye. A bad feeling took hold of his stomach that churned at the simple idea of losing her, because Mahal, it was clear than water how much Thorin appreciated her. She was his One! His true love, and if she had fallen from another world right into his arms it was because she was predestined for no one but him; she was his by right.
"Since the first time I met you in my world you became my greatest admiration, Thorin, and for that reason I would follow you further to Mandos' halls"
"Don't say that, (y/n), I haven't …"
"I'm sorry" she interrupted getting up and wiping another fallen tear, "keep in mind that no matter how difficult the circumstances are, I will be by your side until ... until my visit to these lands is over, I promise you."
Her words were never erased from Thorin's memory.
On Raven Hill there was no noise except for the cries of a King crying disconsolately the name of his One. She was slowly perishing in his arms. The dwarf did not cry easily since his heart was made of stone, however his hardness was cracking, cracking to release the unbearable pain that he suffered when he saw that life abandoning the human's eyes.
Why? he wondered, why had she taken her place? Why had she given her life in exchange for his?
Minutes before this heartbreaking scene, a battle had unfolded between Thorin Oakenshield and Azog the defiler. The King had no other thought than defeating the orc. At no time crossed through his mind the thought of (t/n) leaving the throne room where he had demanded her to wait for his return until the war was over. Thorin thought she had listened to him, but now the misfortune of her disobedience was manifested by a reddish thread of blood that trickled from between her lips and ran down her chin, staining her shirt more than it had already caused the deep wound on her abdomen.
"Thorin ... don't cry ..." she spoke in low whispers.
"Why have you broken your word? I asked you to stay on the throne where you'd have been protected, why have you taken death for me?! You shouldn't have ...!" Thorin broke into sobs, "you can't abandon me, don't do it, I implore you to stay with me"
"Don't you remember what I told you? I would go by your side further to Mandos' halls. I have come to Middle Earth with a purpose that I have already fulfilled, my visit is over" she smiled weakly. "I knew your destiny. Many times I begged in my world for being able to change it and give you the happiness of enjoying your effort to recover Erebor. My wish was listened, and…. " a fit of coughing interrupted her. Each second passed her voice was hard to hear" I will leave happy knowing that you can be King, Thorin…"
The dwarf never imagined that she would actually follow him to Raven Hill, that (y/n) would wait hidden in the mist and debris to impose her goal. He didn't see her coming when she leapt to get between the sharp edge that was pointing against his torso. He even had a chance to push her away from him.
"How could you be so cruel to yourself? You didn't owe me anything! Then why did you give your life for me ?! Why did you do it ?!"
"Because ..." her eyes narrowed, already becoming opaque, "I have admired you since I read your noble feat in a book, because I fell in love as an innocent little girl night after night, the naive illusions of meeting my hero one day in person were just lovely…." she was about to die "because I grew up adoring you and… I have loved you since the first moment I met you… Tho… rin… " her voice finally trailed off.
Her eyes finally got closed. She did not speak any more.
" (Y/n) ....? (Y/n) wake up, please open your eyes givashel, wake up, open your eyes!" cried the king in despair "please come back to me! You cannot abandon me!"
The cries returned, Thorin clung to the human's body as if he wished with all his soul to become one with her. His tears fell without frenzy, drenching the face that would have loved with such devotion if fate had not unjustly taken her away from his embrace. At that moment Thorin felt alone again as when he lost his father and grandfather during the Battle of Azanulbizar. This time Fili, Kili and (y/n) joined the memories that only came to life in his head; the three partners in shenanigans slipped from his hands like souls he could never caress or see.
In war there is no victory when lives as loved as those of your family have been lost.

Slow Burn- Part 1
Pairing: Modern AU Fili x female OC Prim
Words: 1,670 give or take
Warnings: It’s about to get smutty all up in here!!mentions of sex, swearing, alcohol and drug references
Summary: Fili and Prim are in love, but choose to tease each other rather than admit their feelings.
A/N: Part 1 of about 4. Or 5. I don’t know yet. It’s taken me WEEKS to post this, partly due to nerves and the fact that I make edits every time I re-read it before I think I’m going to post it. Please be patient with me! Thanks to @fizzyxcustard for giving me courage!
—————
It started the same way every time.
A night out for drinks with Kili and Tauriel. Dinner at Thorin and Bilbo’s house. Innocent and familiar gatherings with the family that has treated Prim as part of their own for the last four years.
But it also ended the same way every time.
Fíli’s lips brushing against hers ever so slightly as they said goodnight. His hand habitually clutching her waist and Prim silently willing this to be the time he finally gives in to the temptation that is her.
It happened every weekend regardless of the occasion or setting and it drove her mad with desire. She knew he felt it too, so why was he toying with her for so long? Teasing her like one would their prey before devouring them.
God, she longed to sink her teeth into the flesh on his neck. She watched now as it creased when he turned his head in her direction to look at her, his nose still crinkled from laughing at something Kili said.
Prim released the nail she had been nibbling on from between her teeth and slowly moved her finger down her bottom lip.
Fili noticed, no longer laughing, his pupils dilating as he watched.
Now that Prim had the attention of her preferred audience, she wrapped her arm around her head to clasp her thick, dark hair in her hand and draped it over her right shoulder, her left shoulder and neck exposed to the side where Fili sat.
From the corner of her eye she noticed his hand grip his thigh and his cheek flinch as he clenched his jaw.
As frustrating as it was to be taunted by him for this long, Prim relished in knowing she had the same effect on him.
He took a long sip of his beer and licked his lips once he swallowed, no amount of drink able to quench the thirst he always had for Prim.
Does she know that every move she makes drives him mad? It was getting near impossible to control his urges and the longing he had for her.
This couldn’t continue, he was a grown-ass man for fuck’s sake. He knew one day he would have to finally kiss her like she deserved and tell her how he felt about her, but at the same time it was too much fun, making her squirm as they continued to build the sexual tension between them.
He glared at her now, watching her move her long finger down her full lip before pulling her hair off her delicate neck. He fidgeted in his chair, resisting the urge to attach his lips to her neck and chest.
“Fili, pay attention!” Kili shouted at his brother, smacking his arm and pulling him from his thoughts.
“What?” He scoffed, annoyed for being interrupted.
“Tauriel has asked me to move in with her! I’m moving out!” He explained, excitedly.
It took Fili a moment to process the words, shocked at the news. He felt a slight pang of hurt knowing he would be all alone in his apartment, the absence of Kili creating a large void, but quickly tossed away the thought and decided he needed to be happy for his brother.
“That’s great, you two!” He smiled as he stood from his chair. “Let me get a bottle of champagne for the happy couple, we need to celebrate.”
Prim couldn’t help but notice a slight insincerity coming from Fili as he walked over to the bar. Kili and Tauriel were now lost in their own world together, kissing and whispering in each other’s ears, so Prim took the opportunity to check on Fili.
“Are you okay?” She asked, gently touching her hand to his shoulder, his body heat radiating through his t-shirt on to the tips of her fingers.
He sighed heavily before looking at her with a weak smile tugging at his lips,
“Yeah. I’m happy for them, I truly am. It’ll just be different without him. He’s been my little brother for thirty years and lived with me the entire time. He’s always just been there.”
The bartender placed the chilled bottle of champagne on the bar.
“Cheers.” Fili said, taking hold of the bottle and looking back at Prim.
“I’m fine, really,” he smiled at her fully this time, both dimples making an appearance. “And don’t think I forgot you prefer Prosecco over Champagne,” he beamed at her and held a second bottle up in his other hand.
Prim couldn’t help but grin, flattered how he always remembered the things she loved.
“I need to stop being so predictable,” she smiled.
She placed her hand on his forearm and looked into his piercingly blue eyes, serious now,
“I just want you to know that I’m always here for you. If you’re lonely or bored without Kili- and even if you’re fine- you know I always enjoy your company.”
“I know.” he said.
If you only knew how much I crave your company, how your hands and lips on my body could cure any loneliness, how boldly I will love you, was what he didn’t say.
Thoughts of the two of them alone in his apartment flooded his mind, picturing her naked and moaning against him in his kitchen, his living room, his bed.
Before he lost control of himself, he nodded in the direction of Kili and Tauriel, “We better get back to the table before their pash session gets us kicked out of here.”
Fili placed the bottles on the table and nudged his brother on the back once his hands were free.
“At least have the decency to drink this expensive champagne before you abandon us like you always do.” He requested.
It happened all too often that Kili and Tauriel would leave Fili and Prim on their own, anxious for privacy, but he never cared too much as it gave him the opportunity to be alone with her.
So long as Kili paid his portion of the bill.
“Yes, sorry! Thank you!” Kili grinned as Fili opened the bottles and filled their glasses.
Prim smiled as she held her flute in the air, listening to the toast Fili gave to Kili and Tauriel, wishing her luck in putting up with him and thanking her for taking his messy brother off his hands.
The night continued on as it typically did, all of them agreeing that it was cheaper to drink in the comforts of one of their homes, not having to pay for overpriced drinks.
Tonight they ended up at Prim’s apartment, and she was thankful she could fall asleep on the couch when she was ready to and not have to worry about getting a taxi to take her home late in the night.
She stood in the kitchen, leaning against the island with her chin in her palm, admiring Kili and Tauriel snuggling closely on her couch now, giggling at each other and completely unashamed to express their love.
“At least I won’t have to witness this anymore.” Fili said, topping up the wine in Prim’s glass.
“Oh, come on, it’s not that bad.” She sipped her drink and immediately took her words back as she watched Kili climb on top of Tauriel, their intensity increasing quickly.
“Never mind-.” Prim turned to face Fili and away from the couple dry humping on her couch.
“You have to admit though, Fi, that one day you would want that..” she trailed off when her eyes landed on the curly chest hairs peaking up through the neck of his t-shirt.
Yet another part of him she ached to touch.
He carded his fingers through his hair, slicking it back out of his face.
It was getting long, grown out now to just below his ears, curly and bleached even blonder from the sun. She loved it like this.
Honestly, she loved his hair any way, having seen it in every possible style through the years, from short, to short on the sides and long on the top, to just long and curly at his shoulders, but the way it was now allowed her to dream of tugging on it in bed.
Wetness pooled between her legs at the thought as it often did, and she knew she needed to think of something else before she threw herself at Fili and begged him to take her.
“I do want that,” he answered her in a low voice, his eyes telling it was her he wanted it with.
It was like ecstasy to her. No matter how many times she listened to him speak his voice made her melt each time. She bit her lip and closed her eyes when she felt him take a step closer to her, her pulse quickening as he leaned in to speak in her ear.
“I need to get those two home.”
Her head tipped back at the sensation of his breath tickling her skin, his hair brushing against her flushed cheek.
Prim clenched her teeth as he pulled away from her body, furious that he continued to do this to her.
“Okay,” was all she could manage to get out.
Please, don’t go, was what she wanted to say.
Just once she wanted him to stay the night, be in her bed with her.
Her breath caught in her throat when he placed his thumb on her chin, pulling it up so she looked into his eyes. Her hands gripped the counter for support as he took a step toward her again, making her lean her back against it.
“Goodnight,” he nearly whispered it as his lips pressed against the corner of hers, half on her cheek.
Prim inhaled sharply at his contact and tried to turn her mouth into his before he pulled away, missing him by a second.
She nearly growled when he winked at her and grinned, knowing he was fully aware of what he was doing to her.
“Goodnight, Fili.”
She glared at him with such want and she hoped he could feel the burn of it on his skin.

I love you-Thorin x reader
“When are you going to marry Uncle Thorin,” Fili asked as he put his toy sword back in his toy box. I heard Dis let out a chuckle behind me as she cradled her youngest son, Kili.
“He’d have to ask her first,” Dis commented, laughter lacing her voice, as she placed Kili in his little bed before moving to tuck Fili in.
“Dis,” I sighed, chuckling slightly as I shook my head.
“I’m sure Thorin has enough on his mind without having to have the pressure of courting and a marriage,” I explained., causing her to raise her eyebrows slightly. It was no lie,I had feelings for Thorin, I had since we were children, sure we flirted occasionally as we grew older, but nothing serious-however lately I must admit, he had been spending a lot more time with me lately, but I tried not to put too much thought into it. He’s a King, yes I’m close with his sister and his nephews...but that didn’t make me worthy of his love. He deserved someone so much better than me...someone worthy of him. I was pulled back from my thoughts when Dis tapped my shoulder, I looked up to see Fili and Kili both sound asleep; a small smile tugged my face at the cuteness of the pair.
“Hard to believe they’re so energetic during the day, they look so peaceful,” Dis whispered, as we both left the room quietly.
“You should tell him,” Dis remarked as she closed the door to the Fili and Kilis room.
“Are you mad?” I asked, her statement catching me off guard.
“Fili is a child and even he can see the feelings that you two have for each other,” She retorted, and I just merely shook my head at her statement.
“Why won’t you tell him? I see the way you look at him and I see the way he looks at you; he’s in love with you, Adeen and you’re in love with him,” her tone going somewhat serious as she said those words. I couldn’t help but sigh at her words...this wasn’t the first time we’d had a discussion like this.
“He deserves better than-”
“Don’t, don’t say that. That’s all you’ve ever said since we were children ourselves. He wants you, just you, as you are. He’s in love with you!” She whisper shouted with a sympathetic look in her eyes, as my eyes fell to the floor. There were so many prettier Dwarves than me, I just couldn;t see how Thorin would feel the things that she was saying. I was about to protest her statement when I was cut off by a throaty cough, my eyes shot up and I saw Thorin appear round the corner. I bowed slightly, at the sight of him.
“How many times do I need to tell you Adeen, you don’t need to bow to me?” Thorin asked.
“You’re my King, it’s tradition to bow to your king,” I answered, causing a little smirk to etch the corner of his mouth.
“I’m just going to leave you two to it,” Dis said, walking past her brother, but not before whispering something in his ear, something that made his attention fix on me.
“Walk with me?” He asked, I nodded, no longer trusting my voice. We walked in silence for a while, my mind racing about what Dis had said to him, along with what she had said to me, not only tonight but all the times before that.
“Thorin?” I asked, my mouth thinking faster than my brain, my steps halting as I said his name; a confused look came across his face as he turned around to look at me. As I felt his eyes on me, I felt a familiar red tint come upon my cheeks as my brain finally caught up with the thoughts that were spinning around in my head. I opened my mouth a few times, trying to speak the words I was so desperate to say, but nothing came out. I looked like a fool. Attempting to save myself from further embarrassment, I turned around and began walking away, only to feel Thorins hand on my arm, turning me back around so I was facing him. And then he did something I’d only ever dreamed of. He kissed me.
“I’m...I’m sorry,” He mumbled when I didn’t reciprocate the kiss. I looked at him for a moment, trying to process what had just happened, clearly my mouth was thinking faster than my brain again because before I could say anything, I placed my lips on his. I felt his confusion at first, but then I felt the smile that tugged his lips as he kissed me back.
“I love you..” I whispered as we pulled away from the kiss.
“I love you too, Amralime, I’m sorry it took me so long to tell you,” he whispered against my lips. My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest as he connected our lips again.

Hero of your own fate
Chapter 10
A.N. - I got really into the lore while writing this chapter so I thought it would be interesting to talk about it with the dwarves. Plus how else am I supposed to tell Fili and Kili about guns
Word count - 2,223
Pairings - Thorin x Fem!Reader
Warnings - war, death, mental illness, self doubt
--------------------------------------------------------
-Your POV-
It was a few hours before you decided to return to the company. Thorin made good on his word everyone was dressed in their proper attire and the troublesome two were on their best behaviour. He gave a gentle nod in your direction causing a fresh wave of red to flush your face. Kili looked like he was going to say something but was rather aggressively elbowed by Dwalin before a single syllable left his lips.
“Did ye find anything good to read in the library lass?” Dwalin asked as you took your place on your bedroll. He was looking for a way to keep conversation away from what happened earlier.
“Not really most of it was in Sindarin which isn't really helpful when you’ve only heard a few words spoken.” You shrugged.
“Typical elves.” Fili grumbled causing the rest of the dwarves to mumble in agreement. Bifur took this moment to pass you a plate of something.
“Ablâg” he gestured moving his hand to his mouth. The plate was full of a collection of meats and cheeses and some bread. The food had gone quite cold but you didn’t mind. Apparently, the elves had delivered food to the company instead of summoning you all to dine together while you were away.
“Thank you, Bifur.” You smiled at the friendly dwarf. “Lord Elrond was kind enough to teach me some of his history when he found me staring at one of the murals. It just seems so amazing that you have confirmation of your creators and nobody thought to tell me Gandalf is a lesser-god.” At this the company looked at you confused. Every single one of them. It felt like their eyes were staring into your soul. “Did you lot not know he was a Miar?” It took a few moments before anyone responded.
“Aye. That we knew” Gloin finally chimed in. “What do you mean confirmation of our creators?”
“Lord Elrond said that Eru created elves and men, one awakening with the stars and the other when the sun was created. He also said that Dwarves were created by Aulë and you slumbered deep underground until after the Elves awakened during the age of stars. He also said that these Valar live in the Undying Lands and something about the elves being able to cross the sea to reach Valinor.” Not a single member of the company had looked in another direction since you began speaking. Even Bombur had stopped chewing whatever he was eating at that particular moment. Anxiety hit you like a ton of bricks. You had started so confident but now it felt like you were talking nonsense. “I think that’s what he said.”
“Lass did your parents not teach you this when you were little?” Bofur spluttered out, tack never had been his strong suit. Gandalf took this moment to finally interrupt the conversation with his arrival. He had an uncanny knack for interrupting conversations precisely when they needed him.
“It would have been hard for them to seeing as they wouldn’t know it themselves” Gandalf cut in. “Our y/n is not of our world master dwarf. She comes from a land very different from this one. A world untouched by Eru himself. A world without great evil but full of selfishness and greed.”
“But who made you and your kin?” Fili directed the questioning back to you. There was a hum of agreement from all of the dwarves except Thorin, who once again refused to look in your direction. You glanced at Gandalf for more help but the wizard had already made himself comfy puffing away on his pipe.
“Well, we don’t really know.” Everyone seemed thoroughly dissatisfied by that answer. “We have theories and dozens of religions but mainly people decide based on the information available, what aligns with their moral compass as well as how and where they were raised. It varies from person to person especially in the modern era where science tells us more about our past than ever before and people are less likely to be persecuted for their beliefs.” That answer seemed to satisfy the majority of the company.
A select few wanted to know more. Fili, Kili, Ori, Bofur, Oin, and Bilbo all got up to sit near you to find out more. Ori brought his book and wanted to write everything you said down, it almost seemed like a fantasy story to him. Oin wanted to know everything about the scientific advancements especially in terms of medical treatments. Not that you were very knowledgeable in that subject but you knew some basic first aid which you told him. He was very happy to hear that and quickly recruited you to be an apprentice healer for the company. To you that meant so much, you were no longer useless, you had a purpose on this quest. Maybe Thorin wouldn’t consider you a burden anymore. The others mainly enjoyed hearing stories from another world especially the technology.
-Thorin’s POV-
The moment Gandalf had said “untouched by Eru” Thorin’s heart dropped. If your existence was not influenced by one of the creators then there is no way Mahal could have made you Thorin’s one. It would be impossible. Yet Thorin couldn’t deny the way he felt about you. It was nothing like he had ever experienced before. I was like there was a physical tie attaching the two of you. He dreamt of your beauty. He wanted to be close by at all times, to share in your happiness. He wanted to protect you, to keep you safe and healthy. He wanted you to want him. No, it wasn’t a want it was a need for those things. He felt the same way that Dis had mentioned feeling when she first met Vili. He was so sure that you were his one that he would have bet all of the gold in Erebor on it and yet here he was.
Every mention of your world stung. He hoped the quiet chatter would drown it out, take his mind away from the mysterious girl who had enchanted him. Yet his nephew seemed insistent on learning more about the weaponry from your world and the things you called guns. In different circumstances he would have loved to learn about ways to better protect his people yet now he just couldn’t stomach it.
With everyone occupied Thorin to the opportunity to leave. He waited until he was out of earshot before he began cursing Mahal. To Thorin it seemed he had been cursed with only misery and pain in his life. It had been far too many years since to joy of his youth, with his whole family around him. Before the dragon sickness tormented his grandfather, before Smaug killed his mother and took Erebor, before the battle of Azanulbizar took three generations of his family from him. He had no time to grieve, he had to look after his young sister and lead his people to prosperity. To work hard, to provide, to make a better life. Now that his end goal seemed within reach it seemed Mahal had taken it upon himself to land another blow by making his one a woman who can’t possibly have him as her one. To him it seemed unnecessarily cruel.
Thorin was unsure how long he had been aimlessly wandering lost in his thoughts. It was now late into the evening with the stars high in the sky. From a small flicker of light, a woody smell, and the sound of cheer he could tell the company had decided to have a late supper though where they got the food he did not know. One of them must have found the location of the kitchen. Likely the hobbit, even Thorin had to admit Bilbo could find food even in a mine, he could give Bombur a run for his money.
He settled on a balcony overlooking Rivendell just around the corner from the rather jovial group. Thorin wasn’t sure if he could face you just yet, the fact that you were nervous around him seemed to be a blessing in disguise. It wasn’t long before his peace and quiet was disturbed, Bilbo had stumbled upon his place of solitude. Though it seemed the hobbit hadn't realised that just yet.
“The throne of Erebor is Thorin’s birth right. What is it you fear?” Thorin knew the elf doubted them the moment he learned of the quest. Gandalf should know it would be no use reasoning with an elf. They sought to stop the dwarves becoming great hubs of power at every opportunity they could. Erebor was the mightiest kingdom of them all and it would be again if the quest was successful. Thorin took a step forward focussing on the conversation, causing Bilbo to become aware of his presence.
“Have you forgotten? A strain of madness runs deep in that family. His grandfather lost his mind. His father succumbed to the same sickness. Can you swear Thorin Oakenshield will not also fall?” It seemed that Mahal hadn’t wounded Thorin enough that night. Thorin shared those doubts though he would never tell a soul, yet to hear another voice those concerns cut deeper than any physical wound. After all he had done, after everything he achieved for his people his reputation revolved around his grandfather's illness.
“Oi people can hear you!” Came a shout from the balcony below. “If you’re going to talk about people at least go where they can’t hear you.”
-Your POV-
You had been looking for Bilbo to offer him another plate before Bombur took it. You found him quickly and noticed Thorin was with him. Both looking out over the city of waterfalls. It wasn’t until you followed their gaze did you notice Lord Elrond and Gandalf talking below. The moment you heard the wizard mention Thorin the noise of the company seemed to fall away, you were shocked to hear of Elrond’s doubts. Especially since they were being expressed out in the open. Your opinion on the pair immediately flipped and in that moment you felt you understood why the dwarves hated elves so much.
Your mouth worked faster than your brain. Before you knew it you had shouted at your host but in your anger you felt no shame. The pair hurried off together into a room out of sight. When your attention returned to Bilbo and Thorin you saw only a shocked hobbit and a heartbroken dwarf at the top of the stairs.
“They had no right to say those things about you Thorin” This was the first moment you had seen a hint of weakness in the dwarf king. They had clearly struck a nerve.
“They had every right.” There was no anger in his voice only sadness. You felt his pain and it cut deep. You wanted to hold him to let him voice his troubles. To help lighten the weight of all that he carries yet you held back. Why would a king trust you, you knew he doubted you and your motives but you could not bring yourself to leave him like this. Slowly you made your way up to the balcony and took your place besides Bilbo leaning against the railings.
“I see there’s a stigma around mental illness here too. I wish people would realise that its nothing to be ashamed of.” You sighed likely realising what you were saying was falling on deaf ears. “I don’t know what happened to your grandfather or father but you can't fear what hasn’t happened yet. If you do then the anxiety spirals out of control until you can no longer get out of bed.” You didn’t dare look at either of them. What had started with you trying to be reassuring had begun turning into a type of therapy for you. “It ran in my family too and I know how much it sucks knowing that all the sadness and worry is coded into your genes but its better knowing and being prepared. I can guarantee every single one of those dwarves down there will help and support you if or when you need them”
You finally decided to turn to Thorin and look him straight in the eyes. It was a bold move and you knew it but you needed to covey how important this was to you. His gaze lacked his usual intensiveness but he did not look away. “You cannot let fear hold you back.” He seemed to be grateful for those words. He gave you a small nod and sighed.
“Then we must leave before they can stop us!” It was only then you were able to look away. The strong self-assured dwarf king was back. “Bilbo take a few dwarves and head to the kitchens. Take foods that will last us on the road. I do not know when we will get an opportunity like this again. Be quick but stay out of view. Y/n start gathering your things. It might be worth changing back into your travelling clothes.” He motioned to the elven dress you were still wearing. Your clothes should be dry enough now that changing wouldn’t be an issue. “We must make haste if we are to be gone by the time the sun rises.”

Monster - Kili x fem!reader - Day 5/13
Monster
Pairing: Kili x reader
Warnings/triggers: none
Genre: fluff
Word: Monster – Day 5/13
Word count: 2328
A/N: I feel like I can’t write angst or just any other genre than fluff, because it comes out as a fluff anyways. I prepared angst, came out as fluff. Also, I try to write for ther characters, but then I think of Kili again and it’s just like...no. Alright then. Let’s roll with it.

It was another day at the quest. You, thirteen dwarves, and a wizard. No, this isn’t a beginning of a joke, that was your everyday reality now and for following few months.
You were traveling from your home village to Rivendell. Gandalf found you and picked you up, because you lost your way. He talked with you for a while then, and when he found out where you were going, he offered you to join a thirteen dwarves and a hobbit on a journey to reclaim Erebor. And that’s how you ended up with the Company.
It was a nice, sunny day. It wasn’t too long after the journey started, and you were having a stop for the night a bit earlier.
You grinned madly at the sight of butterflies and flowers in bright colours. You stood in this meadow, looking curiously at the sight around, and remembered, how often you thought about how it’s going to look like in Rivendell, because of all of those stories that were told in your village. You considered this meadow as beautiful. So, how does the kingdom of elves looks like then, if ‚words cannot describe the beauty and delication of all those elves‘?
Fili and Kili were sitting behind you, partly because they were keeping an eye on you, and because it was a nice time, to finally rest. Most of the dwarves were futher away. Maybe they found a small river and decided to take a bath.
Kili looked up at you, afternoon sun making his eyes closer to colour of a dark caramel, rather than a chocolate. You didn’t noticed that, though. You were concentrated on the land around.
Fili nudged his brother, and Kili’s eyes averted from you to his brother.
„What’s going on, Fee?“ At that moment, you three overheard Thorin to say,
„Kili, Y/N, you are on a pony duty today!“ You smirked to yourself. After the accident with the trolls a few days ago, Thorin didn’t let Fili and Kili to be together on pony duty.
Kili’s eyes widened, and Fili nudged him. You didn’t noticed that, finding the brothers rather reckless and somehow got the impression of you not being able to get along too well, them being a bit too loud, so you just sticked to Bilbo and Bofur, Bilbo being a confused and adorable, well, hobbit, and Bofur was like the father of the Company at some point, making everyone to feel welcomed. Then, there was Dori, who was the mother hen, and Balin, whom was like a grandfather.
With others, well, it was interesting, to say at least.
Ori was really shy, and you felt like he was even afraid of you at some point. Dwalin was scaring you just by his appearance, and you truly didn’t wanted to experience when he was truly mad or just annoyed. Thorin, just like Dwalin, wasn’t one to mess up with, for obvious reasons (you’ve also overheard something about Durin’s-death-glare from Fili and Kili, and sure you didn’t wanted to experience that, though they could be only joking to make you scared). Most of them were confused of what a human was doing on a quest, that was supposed to be only dwarvish concern.
But when Gandalf said so, there was no way he would change his mind.
And Thorin realized that quickly.
It wasn’t like he would dislike you that much as Billbo. He wasn’t paying you too much attention, maybe because you were capable in fight by your own and were a woman, so maybe he felt this way because he had a sister.
You turned to them and looked down at Kili with a cheeky grin.
„Kili, what’s going on?“ You noticed his face, being flushed. Fili wiggled his eyebrows while smoking his pipe and nudged Kili by his leg.
„Go ahead, Kee.“ You furrowed your brows.
„Kili, you should maybe take off that coat, your whole face is red. It’s warm today, you don’t need it. I believe Fili won’t do anything to it while we’re taking care of the...ponies and my horse.“ When his cheeks reddened even more, you placed your hands on your hips and heavily sighed, while Fili was chuckling. Sometimes you were too nice and overlooked other meanings of things, he thought.
„Alright, I’ll go ahead, you can join me later.“ You said and walked towards the ponies. Kili let out a breath and Fili chuckled, while Kili shot him a glare.
„Aw, look, my baby brother has a crush. Amad would be proud of you, too,“ He said in more of a high-pitched voice, and Kili averted his gaze, shook his head and snorted.
„You’re being riddiculous.“ Fili smirked.
„Am I? She was concerned about you. Why don’t you take your coat off, anyways? She was right, your face is almost unhealthy red.“ He chuckled again to himself and Kili rolled his eyes.
„Her name is Y/N, Fee. Besides, I don’t really fancy humans.“ Kili remarked. Fili rolled his blue eyes.
„Oh yes, of course. You look at her like she’s been crafted by Mahal himself and you always listen to her when she talks. Ah, and whenever she talks with somebody else? If your puppy-looks could kill, the whole Company would be dead. Tsk tsk brother.“ Kili shot him a glare and opened his mouth.
„I’ve never done that!“ Fili quietly laughed.
„If you say so,“
„Kili, it’s your turn on pony duty with Y/N.“ Thorin said when he noticed his two nephews bickering once again, since the beginning of the journey.
He didn’t knew what was it about, but Balin told him it may be because of the woman, Y/N, whom Gandalf took along on this journey with them. It always seemed like Fili was teasing Kili about something about her. Though Thorin didn’t had time for their bickering, ever since they were dwarflings and started with it, this situation seemed to be different. He wasn’t sure what to do about it, though he didn’t let anyone to see that.
Thorin turned to Balin.
„Are you sure it's because of Y/N, Balin?“ He asked. Balin looked to Thorin's nephews. Fili was laughing and Kili was quickly standing up and he could see his deep red cheeks, through he had his head down, so no-one would notice (or at least he hoped so). When Fili said something else to him, Kili just murmed something else and quickly walked away, leaving laughing Fili (who almost fell over) behind.
„I am, Thorin. I've noticed the way he looks at her, when he thinks nobody's looking, and overheard something from their earlier conversations,“ He said matter-of-factly. Thorin frowned.
„Do you think she...?“ Thorin said, not wanting Kili's heart to be broken. Balin shrugged his shoulders.
„Who knows? She's not really around them two. She's quite quiet, so maybe she finds them both a bit too loud.“ Balin looked sleepishly at Thorin.
„Was that your intention, Thorin?“ He frowned.
„What was my intention?“ Balin pointed towards the ponies.
„To pair them up for pony duty today.“ Thorin looked down.
„It was not my intention in a love-matter, but she seems to be careful and responsible with the ponies.“ The older dwarf patted his shoulder.
„We will see how it goes.“
Meanwhile, Kili, out of his coat, found you, patting the ponies and yours and Gandalf’s horses. You turned around and huffed.
„Finally you’re here, Kili. C’mon, look for these four ponies while I’m taking care of these,“ You said, pointing to the place where he was supposed to look after them. His eyes widened.
„You know-you know my name?“ You chuckled.
„Yes, of course I do.“ You slightly furrowed your brows when he was just standing there, with slight smile forming on his face.
„Ahem, the ponies, Kili.“ You adressed him. He jumped up.
„Oh, of course, Y/N.“ His lips formed into his mischievous grin he usually worn, and before you’d say ‚Erebor‘, he was watching over the four ponies.
Fili was sitting on the grass, watching the butterflies, when Balin sat down to him. He didn’t said anything for a while. Then he spoke.
„I’ve noticed you and Kili to be arguing a while ago. Shall we be concerned?“ He asked half-jokingly. Fili smiled and shook his head.
„No, there’s no need to be concerned, Master Balin. Only my little brother has developed feelings for a certain woman, but he doesn’t want to admit it.“ Balin smiled and nodded.
„Then, laddie, we need to do something about it, doesn’t we?“ Fili looked over to see Kili peeking at you, his eyes were basically sending you hearts. (Fili snorted and rolled his eyes.)
Which you seemed to be successfully ignoring, mostly because your back was turned to him and you were feeding Gandalf’s horse.
Fili sighed. „Surely we need to, but do you think she likes him back? She doesn’t seem to be very fond of him. Of us both though, to be correct.“ Balin patted his shoulder.
„She is a quiet lady, Fili, and you two are maybe a bit loud for her liking. But before you jump into pairing Y/N and Kili, we need to find out if she is fond of him too,“ Balin told him.
You didn’t suspected a thing, and Kili too.
A few days later, it was supposed to be your turn with cooking. Yours and Kili’s, to be exact.
Well, it was you and Fili, who was the first whom was told by Thorin, but Fili looked at his brother, with knowing look, and to Kili’s annoyance, said.
„I believe Kili here would be happy to do that instead.“ One of the dwarves snorted.
„Kili? Cooking?“ You, according to a plan, made between Fili, Balin, Bofur, Bilbo and somehow evenThorin, would defend Kili right away, like you’d do with anyone else. It worked.
„So what? It’s not like the last time Kili and Bilbo were cooking, it ended up as overcooked, or worse.“ Kili softly smiled, his heart warmed by your statement, which was actually true. Bilbo was a skilled cook, so all Kili had to do, was to cut everything to pieces and Bilbo let him to mix it, sometimes.
„C’mon Kili, let’s show them we can cook too,“ You said. Fili watched his brother to look up at you with his puppy-heart-eyes, full of softness, that almost made Fili (and whole Company) to roll their eyes. Or throw up.
„O-oh, yes, of course, Y/N.“ He quickly made his way to you. Fili smirked.
He will tease him about this later.
While you were cooking (and Kili was messing it up), you shook your head and chuckled.
„You really can’t cook, Kili.“ Kili did pouting face, though his heart was beating rather quickly.
„Oh, you’re a monster, Y/N! Your words wounded me!“ He dramatically announced and you giggled.
„So, how can I help you to heal your wounds, my bravest knight?“ His eyes twinkled. You thought if it was a trick of afternoon light, the fire or...
He thought about it for a while, then a mischievous smirk appeared on his face.
„A kiss will do it.“ You raised a brow.
„A kiss?“ He nodded. You nervously looked away. Though you weren’t really fond of how loud Thorin’s nephews could be, Kili caught your attention. You decided to push your feelings away, knowing he may be already courting someone or finding someone after the journey would end. He was a prince, after all. A handsome one, to be exact.
Then, when you looked up, you decided to do it quickly. You took a few steps to him and, not being a lot taller than he was (who knew these dwarves were around 5‘2?), kissing him directly on the lips.
It was supposed to be only a quick peck on the lips, really, but one of his hands hugged you around your waist, pulling you closer, and the other one tangling into your hair. You tensed by surprise for a moment, and Kili took that as a disagreement of his actions. He quickly pulled away, blushing hard, looking everywhere but at you, and stumbled over his words while murmuring something.
„I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have do that,“ Finally came out of his after a while, while he was looking down at the ground, ashamed. Your trembling fingers carefully touched your lips.
„You-you...were kissing me.“ You said. He nodded.
„Aye, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have-“ You firmly shook your head, flustrated blush colouring your cheeks.
„So you wanna tell me you regret it?“ You looked at him through your lashes.
„Like I said-“ He started again, but you cutted him.
„No, I mean...more like, um, well-you like me?“ Kili sleepishly looked up at you.
„I do. And now, if you exuse me, I will go and hid somewhere,“ He was about to go away, heavy blush on his cheeks you now could see. You placed your hand gently on his shoulder.
„No, I mean...I like you too.“ You said, blushing once again. He turned his head towards you, eyes wide in surprise, mouth open.
„You-wait-oh,“ He said. Then, his lips stretched in smile, yours too, and soon, you were kissing once again.
„Hey, you two, what about the dinner, huh?“ Bofur said. You and Kili parted and realized the whole Company was watching you. You pecked Kili’s lips and got back to work. He stood there, stunned, but then he helped you. Fili smirked, but Thorin placed his hand on his shoulder. Fili turned to him, confused.
„What?“
„Don’t tease them.“ Fili smirked and whispered.
„Yet.“
When you and Kili were asleep, cuddling, Fili and Balin, being the first watch, looked over you. Fili grimaced.
„It seems like our plan worked out.“ Balin smiled.
„Aye, more than excellently. One mission accomplished,“ Fili smirked and Balin raised a brow.
„What’s going on, laddie?“
„I may be thinking of teasing our lovebirds right since the morning,“ Balin chuckled and only shook his head.

I fled far away from the Company, my breath coming in ragged spurts as tears blurred my vision. All I could hope for was that nobody would follow me. I just wanted to be left alone.
Soon my feet left the familiar cobblestone of Rivendell's paths and trod upon the plush, green grass. I had no plan of where I would go; I just knew I needed to get away.
Suddenly, I found myself on the edge of a cliff, looking down at the rushing river below. It reminded me of the stream back in Lothlorien, except more wild and unpredictable.
A soft sigh escaped my trembling lips as I thought back to my foster mother and how she would take me out to the stream every day for a walk, balancing on the stones out in the gurgling waters and laughing if one of us got wet.
I could still see her long brown locks tumbling down onto her shoulders, and blue eyes that sparkled with a merriment that still couldn't quite conceal the pain she hid inside.
A pain she had never explained to me, other than a few passing words about a man she had loved very deeply, but had to leave. She told me about the young son she had left behind as well, a boy no more than two centuries old whom she and her husband--my foster father, I supposed, even though I had never met him--had named after the season of green leaves he had been born into.
Thinking about my mother finally broke the dam holding back my tears, and I began to sob; shoulders shaking as my head fell into my hands.
It was only one word, but it rocked me to my very core. Not because of what it meant, but because of who said it.
Back when Naneth had told me about the man she loved, I hadn't understood her pain. But now I did; on a personal level. I knew there was something special about Thorin the moment I had laid eyes on him, but I hadn't expected him to treat me with such blatant dislike.
Being raised in Elven culture, I had been taught about their belief in soulmates. The person who you just knew deep down in your soul was the one the first time you laid eyes on them. I didn't know if Dwarves had such a belief or not, but the feeling I had felt deep inside me when I had first met him... It was as if we were two halves of a whole being drawn nearer to one another in order to complete ourselves.
But he obviously didn't feel the same.
"Miss Estel?"
I quickly wiped at my tears, trying to steady my breathing. Of all the times in the world to approach me, he did it at the one time I didn't want to be around him.
Heavy footsteps trod closer to me, but I didn't look up to see who it was. I already knew from his voice.
"Leave me alone." I growled out, turning my head away from him so he couldn't see my tears in the bright moonlight reflecting from the river.
Thorin let out a sigh and proceeded to sit next to me, resting his arms on his knees as he looked out across the gorge. "I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. I truly didn't mean to do so, Miss Estel." He murmured quietly, and I distantly wondered if he had gone mad. Since when did Thorin Oakenshield apologize to anyone?
I continued to hide my face from him, trying to use my midnight locks as a shield, but my attempts to quiet my running nose caught his attention.
"Are you crying?" Thorin asked softly, concern lacing his words. A hand rested itself on my shoulder and I started, whirling to look at him in confusion.
Thorin watched me with a furrowed brow, retracting his hand from my shoulder. I swallowed hard, turning away to wipe at my eyes. "No, I'm fine. Just leave me alone. I know you don't want to be doing this." I said roughly, but Thorin shook his head, sapphire eyes turning to look at the ground.
"I'm sorry." He murmured again, and I scoffed.
"Sorry doesn't fix everything, Master Thorin. It's cowardly to insult someone in a language they don't understand, and 'sorry' won't magically fix it." I said, and Thorin's gaze wandered over to my face.
"How do you not know Khuzdul? You are a Dwarrowdame." He said, voice filled with confusion.
I bit my lip. He was beginning to tread on dangerous grounds, and I wasn't sure if I liked it. One wrong word and I could end up on my own. "Personal reasons." I muttered, and Thorin opened his mouth, about to ask another question when I cut him off. "Personal reasons that I won't be sharing, Master Thorin."
He nodded in understanding, his expression gaining a strange hesitance. "Would it help if I taught you Khuzdul?" He questioned, and I pulled my gaze away from the grove of maples I spotted on the other side of the gorge, raising an eyebrow.
"You would teach me?"
"Of course. All Dwarves should know Khuzdul." He said, and I considered his offer, wondering just what strings were attached to this.
There had to be something.
"And I wouldn't be a burden?" I asked skeptically, and Thorin was quick to shake his head, dark brown hair falling onto his chest.
"No, you wouldn't be more of a burden then you already are." He said gruffly, and the faint feeling of warmth blossoming within me was snuffed out, only to be replaced with the familiar resentment of the Dwarrow sitting beside me.
"I accept your offer then. Thank you, Master Thorin." I said sincerely, "but I have one question."
"What?"
"What does 'amralimí' mean?" I asked, and Thorin looked at me, his brow furrowed in confusion for a moment before he began to chuckle.
"I'm afraid that I cannot tell you that just yet, Miss Estel. You will just have to be patient." He said, standing up and rolling his shoulders. "Zann galikh. That means 'good night'." He said, striding away from me, back towards the paths of Rivendell.
~~~~~
The next morning found me reluctantly packing my things so we could leave as soon as possible. I had hoped we could linger in Rivendell for awhile, but Thorin wanted to be off as soon as we could.
It would be an understatement to say that he disliked Elves. He hated them with every fibre of his being. But all this haste didn't stop him from beginning to teach me Khuzdul.
"I am your ugshar; your teacher or one who is very learned in certain subjects." Thorin said while I rolled up my bedroll. "Repeat the word."
Rolling my eyes, I stared up at him. "Ugshar. Happy?" I asked and he nodded gravely.
"That is a good start." He rumbled and then walked away from me, towards Dwalin who was leaning up against a wall inspecting one of his axes. "We'll continue this later."
As soon as he had turned his back to me, I threw up my hands in a gesture of defeat. I was never going to learn anything at this rate.
"Hey, Estel." A voice whispered and I turned to see Kili and Fili motioning for me to come towards where they stood, partially hidden by a pillar. "Come here."
Letting out a quiet groan, I walked towards them as nonchalantly as I could and joined them beside the pillar. Crossing my arms, I gave them a no-nonsense look. "What do you want?" I asked, getting a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach at the sight of Kili's cheeky grin.
"Rumor has it that Thorin offered to teach you Khuzdul." Kili whispered conspiratorially and I nodded.
"He did and it's none of your business so bug off." I said, making Kili snicker.
"I'm curious, why don't you know Khuzdul. You are a Dwarf right? Or are you just a really short human woman, or--Mahal forbid--an Elf? Thorin might have a heart attack." He said, and even though his words were in jest, I felt a small shiver of fear travel down my spine.
"It's none of your business." I repeated, but Kili didn't want to let the subject go.
"What has Uncle dearest taught you so far?" He asked, and I shrugged.
"The word for teacher and that's it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have things to do before we head out or Thorin's going to kill me." I said, turning away and beginning to walk away from the two annoying brothers.
But Fili and Kili reached out and grabbed my arms, pulling me back. "I doubt he'd kill you, Estel... I can guarantee you that thought has never once entered his mind." Fili laughed, and I gave him an incredulous look.
"Are you daft? Wait, don't answer that. I already know the answer." I said, making Fili frown at my teasing. "Have you seen how he treats me? The way he looks at me? And you think he hasn't ever once thought that I'm an annoying burden?" I asked, and Kili and Fili gave me astonished looks as though I had just said some sort of blasphemy.
Kili began stuttering unintelligibly, his brown eyes wide with shock. Fili was a bit more eloquent and started to say something, but a sudden deep voice behind me cut him off.
"Fili, Kili, what are you doing? Have you gotten everything packed up?" Thorin boomed, and I whirled around to see him walking towards us, his steel blue eyes smoldering.
The brothers muttered something about being almost done and quickly darted off, leaving me and Thorin alone.
"Were those two Lalkîths bothering you?" He asked, stopping in front of me, and I cocked my head, not understanding his word of choice. "Young idiots." Thorin clarified after taking in my puzzled expression, and I nodded in understanding.
"A bit. They dragged me over here to ask if it was true that you offered to teach me Khuzdul." I said, and Thorin raised an eyebrow.
"Did they tell you anything?" He asked, and I shook my head, wondering why this was so important. "Good."
I opened my mouth to ask him why, but he had already turned away from me and was striding away, barking orders at everyone else.
I watched him go, Fili's words echoing in my mind. "...I can guarantee you that thought has never entered his mind."
There was a meaning to his words, I knew it, but I couldn't figure out just what it was. Perhaps it would be the key to understanding Thorin; the Dwarrow that seemed to change the moment you thought you had him figured out.
Amralime? What does it even mean? (Kili x reader)
Requested by: @naniellesworld
Request: Hi there! Hope you'll accept this other request from me! Thank you very much if you do. It's a gift for @dashesofink , so if you could tag her in please :) Request : Kili x Fem!Reader. Proposal.
Word Count: 1348
A/N: Well, I’m really late posting this but I hope it lives up to the expectations <3. Also, the line of Durin doesn’t perish because I’m still mad about it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For once in your life, you were at peace.
For once in your life, you could be glad for your actions, as your actions had brought you to where you were today.
Had you not fled Mirkwood at the precise moment the orcs attacked the back gate alongside the Company, not liking King Thranduil’s policies, you would have never met the love of your life.
Watching from one of the balconies that rewarded you with a breathtaking view of the mountain down below, you glanced at your lover, Kili. He’d been very cheeky when you’d met him, trying to bribe you into search him for he could have, as he had put it “Anything down his trousers” for which he’d earned a laugh from you as well as a spark of interest about his journey, as it was not every day that the dwarves of Erebor stumbled upon your kingdom.
You spent all night talking, for which you earned a reprimand from Thranduil, saying how all the dwarves were stubborn and greedy and didn’t need our help nor interest at all. But you were long gone, approving of the journey as well as the motives. Didn’t everyone deserve to have their own home? Well, it seemed Thranduil begged to differ, and that’s how you ventured to Lake Town and fought alongside the dwarves who had stayed with Kili, who was recovering from a poisonous arrow, courtesy of Bolg.
As the Battle approached, you made up your decision to participate after seeing Thorin’s unwillingness to see the consequences of the upcoming conflict. You gazed all the armours that were lined up and covered in dust alongside Kili “You don’t have to participate, you know, this battle is ours and ours only” He watched you intently “I’ve got people to protect, and perhaps I’m not the most skilled with a sword, but I can hold myself in battle” You sheathed your sword, turning away to go back to Dale “(Y/N)” Kili caught your wrist, looking sad, those sad eyes that were inked in your brain “Please...Take care...” “You too Kili...Don’t get yourself killed please” Part of his heart told him to stay alongside his uncle, but the other one wanted to go with you.
In this case, his lineage was stronger but it allowed his heart‘s other half some space to make him land his eyes on your lips “Kili, I...” He started to tilt his head, closing his eyes, with you mimicking his actions “KILI” Thorin’s booming voice broke you both from your train of thought “See you in the battlefield” You shrugged, plastering on a sad smile before cursing Thorin mentally for this and the future events if anything was to happen to Kili.
It had been a miracle for the line of Durin to survive the battle, you'd thought, as the ambush the orcs had prepared could have been fatal. Thank Valar, you'd decided to accompany Kili on his way to Raven Hill, as you had the feeling nothing good was going to come from there: Fili was almost murdered in cold blood, but the unconscious body of his brother had been enough for Kili to engage in battle with Bolg. You still remember to this day how you leapt behind the orc, stabbing him repeatedly with your sword, out of pure fear for Kili's life, as well as the genuine smile he had rewarded you with which made your heart jump from your chest.
Even in the middle of the battle, he was able to calm you and make you feel like everything was going to go well, that you were going to make it alive. From then on, you fought back against back in perfect synchronization, slaying through enemies together as if you’d studied the other’s moves all your life.
At that moment no one could deny there was something more than just friendship, even Thorin, much to his dismay.
"Amralime" You turned, smiling at Kili "You ought to tell me what does that mean one day, Meleth nîn" "Whenever you tell me whatever does this mean" Making you chuckle "I will tell you...If you catch me!" You pushed him out of the way and ran for the corridors of Erebor "You sneaky...Come back! (Y/N) That's not fair!" You dodged gracefully anyone who happened to be in your way, such as Balin and Bofur, who just saluted you with a smile, they saw Kili not far behind "Thorin!" You stopped in a halt, as the Company's leader turned a corner, looking as majestic as per usual "(Y/N)" You tried to gaze anywhere but his eyes "Again fooling around?" He arched a brow, making you look down in embarrassment "Go down the stairs, take a left turn and a right one. It will be more difficult for him to catch you" He winked at you, making you smile back. Following his instructions, you made your way into a hall with a lot of columns in it, making you understand Thorin's point "Oh (Y/N)" Kili said in a sing-song voice, making you hide behind a column "I know you're in here...Very funny Uncle! Taking her side" You heard him scream, as well as him stomping his feet in annoyance upon hearing Thorin's laugh.
"I don't care, for I always win, nobody beats me at knowing these...CORRIDORS!" He had jumped behind one of the columns, not too close but not too far from you "Well, bummer. This would have been...PERFECT!" Now he was just two columns across from you "AW, C'MON!" He looked like an enraged child, making you chuckle. His ears perched at that, making you cover your mouth in fear and excitement "It seems my sweet (Y/N) is not here...Now she'll have to live without knowing what Amralime means" You let out a huff "Unless...She" He stalked to your column "Is..." Another step "Behind..." Another "This..." Another "COLUMN!" He got the one next to yours "FOR MAHAL'S SAKE" You burst out laughing, not caring for anything "So you think this is funny huh?!" He embraced you from behind, making you yelp in surprise "I'm sorry! It was too much" As you came down from the high, you slumped to the floor "Fine, you win" Now that you were to pronounce those words, nerves seemed to come back to you, making you light-headed again "It's okay, you don't have to tell me" He smiled "No, it's alright. Nîn Meleth means "My love" in Sindarin...So yeah, now you can connect the dots, I really, really like you. In fact I might be in love with you, Kili Durin".
At that, he appeared at a loss of words, before bursting out laughing "What's so funny?" "All these months, not wanting to tell me what it means, and it means the same as Amralime!" He used the column as support, gasping for air "Wait...Does that mean that..." He didn't let you finish the sentence, as he grabbed your face and kissed you with all the passion he could muster after his laughing fit.
And what a kiss, like the ones you'd read on when you were a wee elfling, dreaming about love stories.
As you parted in need for air, Kili took out a little box from his pocket "What's this?" "This, Amralime, is a courting bead" Your eyes widened at that "W-What?" "If that's okay with you, I would like to court you, in hopes of one day being your beloved husband" He sounded all royalty like, making you chuckle "Yes, I shall accept it with happiness and joy" You mimicked his posh voice, earning a snicker from him as he started to braid your hair "Now, your turn" You grabbed the other bead, and secured it carefully in the braid you'd done "Wow..." Your eyes glazed at the realisation "I'm bethroded" You smiled sweetly, laughing in desbelief at the words that just came out of your mouth "Yeah" Kili took your hand in his bigger one "I thank the Valar everyday for letting him cross our paths"
"I love you Kili, Nîn Meleth"
"I love you too, Amralime"
Well, hope you liked it @dashesofink 😁 and was worth the wait!😘

The Definition of Love [AO3] Part 3 of the Prison of Blood ‘verse (Serial Killer AU)
When the call came, Fili had been on his way to work.
He listened, expressionless, emotionless, to what the stranger on the other end of the phone told him. “I see,” he said, eventually.
There was a pause. “Mr. Oakenshield?”
Right. That wasn’t how normal people reacted to such news. “I… I apologise. I’m feeling a bit… shocked. I’ll be there shortly.”
Fili hung up the phone before the caller could say anything else, redialling another number completely from memory. Thankfully, the universe seemed to be on his side and instead of reaching a colleague, he instead heard the click of an answering machine.
“It’s Fili Oakenshield. I’m afraid I won’t make it into the office today, my partner has been in an accident. I’m on my way to the hospital.”
The words were so clinical, but right now that was all that holding him together. Most emotions were foreign to Fili, but this one he knew all too well.
Rage.
Yet that rage would serve no purpose when Fili had no release, and would be unlikely to obtain a release any time soon. For now, he had to push it aside.
*
He made it to the hospital in record time. Probably broke a few speeding laws on the way there, and probably didn’t have enough change for the extortionate parking fees, but all of that was irrelevant.
The only thing relevant was Kili.
Fili pushed his way to the front of the queue and locked eyes with the receptionist. “Kili Durin.”
He watched her eyes flicker to the grumbling people behind him and opened her mouth. His eyes narrowed, and Fili felt no small sense of satisfaction as she seemed to think better of what she was about to say and turned her attention to her computer.
“Ward 5C, room 3. Follow the overhead signs.”
Fili gave her a brusque nod and stalked away. His hands curled into fists and he shoved them into his pockets, trying to rein in a fury that threatened to tear him apart.
*
If Fili could feel grief, he might have wept at the sight of Kili’s unconscious form.
But he could not. All he felt was his control rapidly spiralling, and he hated every second of it. It was all because of Kili. Before he’d entered into this… domestic arrangement, before the convenient alibi had become something more, weakness had never been a word Fili applied to himself.
Now, he was weak. He was weak because the rage he’d kept a lid on for his whole life was at risk of spilling out, and it was all because of Kili.
It was all because Fili had taken a jagged knife and carved out the chasm where his heart should be, and Kili had filled that void with a love that had contaminated the rest of him. What once was clinical and composed, was now anything but.
His train of thought was lost as Kili stirred, his eyes cracking open. The brown pools were a stark contrast to the pallid skin, almost entirely devoid of colour. “You came.”
Fili glared at him. “Obviously,” he ground out. “What happened?”
“Accident,” Kili’s voice was feeble, tired. “There was a car, it mounted the pavement.”
An accident. A simple accident had almost cleaved Kili from his life. Fili took a huge breath and let it out in shuddering increments. Someone would pay for this.
“No,” Kili said, a little more firmly. “I can hear you plotting from here. Fee, it was an accident. Please.”
Fili wasn’t going to make any such promise, but Kili was hurt and not in a position to argue. He clenched his jaw. “We’ll talk about it when you’re home,” he relented. That was the only concession he could make right now.
Kili’s hand reached out slowly, fingers turned up in invitation. Fili took it without hesitation, and felt some of his anger dissipate at the warmth of Kili’s skin.
“You’re mad,” Kili said.
Fili stared at Kili, wondering if perhaps there was some additional brain damage the nurse had neglected to inform him of. He wondered if maybe Kili had missed the obvious way he had invaded every aspect of Fili’s life. That by accepting him, he had become part of Fili’s ritual as well as part of his life. And the universe had dared try to take Kili from him.
“I think I have a reason to be. You were almost killed.”
“Careful,” Kili slurred. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were in love with me.”
Fili’s hand twitched in Kili’s, and for an instant he thought about withdrawing, considered turning away. For the very first time, he felt what might have been construed as shame. Shame that he couldn’t love Kili as he deserved. That anyone else would be distraught right now, but Fili’s primary emotion was fury.
A thousand different responses ran through his head, but he settled on one. “You should leave me, you know. Find someone who can give you what you deserve.”
Even with his eyes half-closed, almost delirious with pain, his face almost as white as the pillow beneath him, Kili managed a brilliant smile.
“Did your morphine kick in?” Fili asked, dryly. “Or are you just relishing the thought of getting away from me?”
Kili hummed, sleepily. “The morphine. But you do love me.”
“You know that… you know I don’t. I can’t,” Fili hissed, and the hand that wasn’t entwined with Kili’s clenched tightly. “I told you, I do feel a… a bond towards you. I like being around you. It tempers me. You make every day a little less unbearable. But that’s all.”
Kili didn’t reply immediately, and Fili wondered if he’d fallen asleep. “You stupid man,” Kili breathed, as the morphine overtook him. “That’s what love is.”
*
Neither of them brought up Kili’s words again while he remained in the hospital.
But Fili thought of nothing else. Every night when he lay alone in a bed that suddenly seemed much too cold, much too large, he reflected on Kili’s words.
Was that truly how it was, to love someone? Fili didn’t think so. He’d never been able to fathom it as a concept. From birth, he should have unconditionally loved his mother, his father. He had not. He had looked at them and felt nothing but appreciation for their convenience.
So how could it be that Kili was so convinced that what Fili felt for him could be love?
The thoughts consumed him, and it was only when Kili returned to their home that Fili found the answer.
“Tell me you love me,” he demanded, kneeling at Kili’s feet and laying a possessive hand across his knee.
Kili smiled softly. “I love you,” he replied.
“I like hearing that,” Fili confessed. “It thrills me. I can’t understand the way you feel, but I know that it excites me, as if I possess you. That part of you has surrendered to me willingly, and accepts me for what I am. Each time you say those words, it’s a reminder of that satisfaction.”
Kili nods, curiously. “I think I understand.”
“I’ve been thinking about what you said. That what we have, what I feel for you, is love. I think that out of the two of us, you’re the best person to make that judgement.” Fili trails off, trying to gather the words to explain what he’d come to realise.
“I can’t say if you’re right, Kee. I don’t know if you are. But I know that your place in my life is both irrevocable and irreplaceable, and you deserve to know that. You deserve to hear it. So if that is what you believe love to be, then I love you.”
Kili leaned down and kissed him.
When they finally broke apart, Fili’s hand came up to grasp Kili’s chin, fingers tight as he gazed into Kili’s eyes. “You know that means I’ll kill you if you ever leave me.”
Kili shuddered, and Fili got the distinct impression that was less of a threat than he’d intended it to be. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Then Kili kissed him again, and any further threats Fili might have made were forgotten.

Dildo Gaggins
Thorin x reader
Warning: periods
Summary: being apart of the company , and forcing them to stop, but not telling them why.
Word count:2085
You had joined the company due to Gandalf pretty much forcing you to, you parents were kidnapped by orcs when you was a preteen. So not very long ago , being only 18, you had lived on the road eating berries and such. That was until Gandalf had found you and raised you, he was like your adopted father.
You were guilty for wanting revenge on all orcs, they had taken your childhood away from you by slaying your parents. You weren’t going to let that go easily.Anyways you joined the company , Thorin was livid by the idea of a women human no less joining his company. Gandalf pretty much told him to fuck off, and that you were coming along know what matter what he said.
Anyways once you met Bilbo you were quick to befriend him, comforting him by cleaning that wooden thing kili wipes his boots on. Getting the mud out the rugs and such he was very much grateful for your help.
You had been on your hands knees scrubbing at the rug , which one of the dwarves had spilled wine on it. You had a bowl of water and a rag with soap , you had been working at this stain no longer before someone had shouted a comment at you.
“Miss y/n , you should get on your hands an knees more often..” you had looked up to see one of thorins nephews , kili starring down at your arse. You scoffed at him , pulling your long button up shirt over your behind. Fili along with some other dwarves such as bofur had laughed. Unknowingly to you Thorin had eyes your butt too, but sent angry looks to his nephew, for speaking to a women in such a way.
“My daughter isn’t some toy, Prince Kili, next time you will be a worm, Mark my words.” Gandalf has shouted pulling him by the ear away from you.
“She’s your daughter ,mister gandalf?” Balin , Dwalins older brother had questioned, once Gandalf had let go of kilis ear. You now sat up onto your calves , the rag on your thigh. “No, he has raised me since I was 11, my parents were kidnapped, by orcs probably eaten.” You spoke calmly, Balin felt guilty for bringing it up, other looked at you with sincere faces.
“Gandalf might aswell be my father.” You spoke smiling up at Gandalf who did the same, you stood up bringing the bowl and rag to the kitchen. Bilbo had followed you as you poured the water away. He looked at you curiously ,”so you are going with this company?” He had questioned you , eyeing you for a response.
“Even if I didn’t want to go, I would be stuck at home and b e bored to death. An adventure sounds great actually doing something significant in middle earth.” You spoke with meaning, you didn’t want to be a nobody and you would get to meet elves and other humans. Maybe you could meet someone.
The little hobbit smiled up you “you have a kind heart Miss y/n “
“Just y/n. I think we are going to be good friends mister baggins.”
“Me too..y/n.” You leans down and ruffled the hobbits hair , playfully.
That was a months ago now, you now and the rest of the company except Gandalf who left at the edge of Mirkwood, were deep in Mirkwood forest. You were walking along side Bilbo , you suspected that you lot would get lost. You were feeling great until a huge cramp hurt you like the waves of the ocean. You groaned clutching your stomach for a second, losing your breath slightly. Bilbo looks up at you in concern ,”are you okay y/n?” He questioned you , before you could speak you felt liquid in your pants. “Don’t worry about me, I’ll be back.” You speak quickly , running towards Thorin who led the group.
Thorin had gained trust for Bilbo , apologised for in judging him, he still didn’t like that you were apart of the company. sometimes he would get mad when you accidentally did something, yet when they had been captured by the trolls he’s had made sure they had not got a hold of you, knowing they were vile and would do horrible things to you.
Thorin heard you approach him , turning his face slightly to look at you , then turning back to ahead of him in seconds.
You walked with him , until you catches your breath from running, “Thorin please can we stop , not even for two minutes it’s an emergency.” You pleaded , “we will stop once we are out of this place.” You knew he wouldn’t listen , there was no point even trying. You scoffed “fine.” you spoke angerily , before running ahead and going deep into the forest so no one could see you.
Unknowingly to you Thorin had made the company fasten their pace with him , to catch up, Bilbo angrily shouted at Thorin , whole kili and Fili asked where you had gone. Thorin had told the company to stay there while he went into off the path looking for you. At this point you were strapping bunches of cotton to yourself, to stop you bleeding through your pants. You were pulling up your pants when Thorin had found you.
You had gasped when you had seen Thorin , him in shock to see you pulling your trousers up from your knees. “Why did you follow me?” You spoke angrily , walking past him , leafs crunching under your feet as you watched back to path.
He stomped after you,” you cannot just run off like that to urinate .” He shouted towards you, you turned to him shoving him backwards. “I wasn’t going to the bathroom, it’s none of your business.” He scoffed at you “it is my business , when I am supposed to protect you , and I can’t do that when I can’t see you .” His eyes shining slightly , yet still harsh.
“I’m sorry I just didn’t want to bleed through my pants infront of 13 dwarves.” His eyes softened at your words , before you know it he has embraced you into a hug , you wrap your arms around his waist , as his arms around your shoulders. “W-what ar-“ before you can even finish question, you and Thorin are attacked by spiders. Thorin tried to fight them off but before you know it you are wrapped into cocoon with Thorin.
Now Thorins arms are around your waist while your hands against his chest. Heavy breathing waiting for death, that was until the cocoon landed on the ground. Allowing Thorin to rip it open, for you to jump up avoiding the pain in your stomach, lending a hand for Thorin. You heard that men didn’t really know of periods ,you figured that Thorin must of dealt with his sister when she had them.
Once you were able to take in your surroundings, you see the other dwarves getting out of cocoons , and their were spiders coming in on you all. Soon enough you all are fighting off these giant monsters. That is when more come only for them to be killed instantly by elves.
The elves search you all, this blond one searches you , yet he gets down to remove the knife from the holster. He stands up with the knife passing it to an elf. He looks at you frowning . “ you are injured.” He spoke with a monotone. You look at him confused before your eyes widen, elves must be able to smell very well. “...uh no I am not.” He shakes his head ,” you are bleeding.” Thorin groans angrily at the elf.
“Yeah..but It’s not an injury..uh mister elf. It b-becau-“ you are interrupted when a female elf with ginger hair whispers to the blond elf, his face flashes red in embarrassment. “I am sorry miss.”
And that was it , you all were brought to Mirkwood , all the dwarves were put in cells except Thorin and you (you were human but whatever) who were brought to the king, he looked like a narcissist.
Thorin insulted Thranduil , The king , when he offered a deal for our freedom for some hens. Thorin rejected in spite of Thranduil not helping his people when they needed so he wasnt going to help him in anyway.
“And why are is a women travelling with dwarves?” He had spat the word dwarves with disgust as he had circled you , to make himself superior to you. When you obviously thought he was anyways , god he was king.
“Uh.. because I want to sir.” You looked at the floor, he made you feel quite uncomfortable, he laughed in response.
“Ah, I see , you are their toy.” He smirked, you gasped at his words , you face flashed with anger.
“I see the way you must treat women , you disgust me. You probably do it because you are jealous.” You walked fowarded to him glaring before you continued “you know because you already dress like one, if your voice was an higher then I would’ve mistaked you for a women..” his face slightly twitching in anger you walk closer smirking. “Maybe the main reason is because you lack down there or maybe because daddy Di-“ you are interrupted by a slap in the face, Thorin is about to leap forward for Thranduil, but the guards grab ahold of him , but you slip past the other guards grips. You lung forward smashing your knuckles into his face, making him bleed. He quickly gets the guards to take you both to the cells.
You are both thrown into the same cell, he grabs you stopping you land on the floor, You smile at him lightly.
One of the dwarves asks what happened , he says something in dwarvish an insult probably, and then tells him what you had done, the others cheer. You slide down onto the floor , Thorin doing the same shortly after directly next to you. You had forgotten about the pain but now it hit you like horse. Distractions such as trying not to die , take your mind off cramps. You clutch your stomach.
Thorin eyes you gestures, “are you cold?” You look up at him, “I’ll be fine Thorin.” Yet he doesn’t believe you , he places one arm under Under your knees the other on your back, picking you up placing you in his lap. Your mouth is struck open in shock, as he wraps his arms around your stomach, you Lean back into his chest.
“Elves suck, that princess literally sniffed my vagina.” You groan at the fact you just said that to a king. He chuckles “I’m not surprised,he probably wanted you to be his prince to his princess.” He speaks into your neck, his breath tickling your neck.
“Damn I doubt anyone would want me, have you seen me.” You laugh sarcastically, “it will never happen” your eyes water, as a child you were cute you were asked out many times but you rejected them all because you were frightened, until you were 15 and fell in love with a boy that ended up breaking your heart and you didn’t even date! It made you feel ugly and more insecure then you had even been.
“I think you very much mistaken. I know someone thinks you are the most beautiful woman he has ever met, I have seen plenty of those dwarves eye you up.” His thumb thst lay against your hip went under your shirt to stroke your bare skin.
“Oh..what who?” You are surprised, Thorin had never spoke to you in such a way he had always been blunt with you , or avoided you, now you lay against him in his arms. He presses his lip to you cheek before whispering in your ear “me.” You gasp at his answer, you turn on his lap(careful you don’t want boner city..)
“Really?” You ask looking into his eyes, he nods, you quickly press your lips to his before pulling away, smiling widely.
You lean back in his lap after he asks you to court him , in which you agreed , he braids your hair before Bilbo opens the door. He gasps, at your position.
You get up Thorin, pulling him up,
“Oh shit sorry if I got blood on you Thorin.”
“You didn’t.”
“Oh hello dildo Gaggins.”

Can I please get some Headcanons or a short Story about after the Battle of Five Armies, Thorin, Fili and Kili live, but the reader is slow to forgive Thorin for his actions during his Dragon Sickness, because she's a good friend of Bilbo and the whole "throw him from the ramparts" thing, and even though the King feels really bad about it, it takes Bilbo to convince her to forgive him. Thanks!
Thorin x reader
I owe you a huge apology for lateness I’m so so sorry please forgive me x
(I do not own The Hobbit or its characters/ gif not mine)
“Y/n, talk to me.” You sighed placing your book to the side making sure to thump it hard enough against the wood to show you were irritated. Reluctantly, you met the eyes of the dwarf you had serious trouble forgiving. Bilbo and Dwalin sat across the room next to Fili and Kili laughing away in good spirit. They survived. Barely you thought your feelings turning sour.
“What is it you acquire my king?”
Thorin too sighed though this time in sadness. He had not only lost his mind to the dragon sickness but his greatest love of all. He missed you dreadfully not to mention the regret he carried from his actions. He knew you would not forgive him easily you were known to be stubborn, something he admired and encouraged but there was another side to you. Loyal, trustworthy, compassionate and gentle, Thorin wished he could go back to holding you, kissing you and talking late into the night about various subjects.
“Please Y/n I can’t tell you how sorry I am.”
It was rare to hear The King Of The Lonely Mountain apologise but not even that could make you forgive him.
“I know you can’t.” You said simply but the hurt reflecting in his eyes was much more complex than any word could ever speak. At this point everyone had turned to look at the awfully tense conversation taking place.
“I love you.” He pleaded his voice breaking at the end.
“No you threw that away many moons ago.”
“Y/n I don’t know what else I can do to make you forgive me.” Your blood boiled.
“Forgive you.” You huffed. “You don’t know what else to do to make me forgive you, are you mad you care more about your wealth and gold than the people, the children suffering outside, you almost throw one of my most beloved friends from the ramparts to his death. If that wasn’t enough you broke my heart, do you know what it was like sleeping alone every night, how it felt wishing your husband would come back to you, being forced to call you ‘my king’ despite my love for you, you reminded me enough how worthless I was to you. So you tell me, My King, how do you expect me to forgive you for anything?”
You didn’t look back when you walked away. You didn’t see the devastation in Thorin’s eyes. Truly he knew he had lost you and he hated himself for it. You didn’t hear the crown woven in riches drop to the floor. You stayed in your chambers for the rest of the evening watching the sun dip below the horizon. You almost went for a walk around the markets but decided against it at the last minute not wanting to see anyone after the argument. In truth you missed the dwarf you loved but he was the one reaping the consequences of his actions, you couldn’t deny you were scared of him all his rage and aggression often lead to heartbreaking, heated arguments that never resolved and what friend would you be reconciling with the dwarf who almost killed Bilbo.
It was well into the night when you heard a knock at your door. It was far too faint to be any dwarf, they positively hammered on your door. Your curiosity spiked and you replied with a quiet come in. The door slowly opened and in walked Bilbo his feet shuffling along the floor as he made his way to you.
“I need to talk to you about Thorin.” Your face obviously betrayed your distaste as he added; “please its important.”
“Bilbo me and Thorin aren’t on the best of terms right now.”
“I know but he really misses you Y/n no one can cheer him up, he even threw his crown.” At this your eyes widened a little, Thorin was prideful yes but never did you even think he’d toss his crown as if it meant nothing.
“The same way he almost threw you from the ramparts, the same way he threw away our love.” You tried to sound imposing but instead your words came out unsure almost guilty.
“Me and Thorin talked he apologised, he even offered me three times my share, Thorin was sick he didn’t know what he was doing Y/n. I even heard him cursing himself for loosing you one evening, he’s heartbroken.”
You exhaled averting your gaze to the floor. You knew deep down the Thorin you fell in love with would never hurt his kin and you missed him so dreadfully, everyday without his touch killed you a little more. You didn’t know how much until you stood staring at the floor in the kingdom he fought to regain so everyone could live without fear again. He was plagued with dragon sickness alone and consumed with gold even if he didn’t want your love back he should at least know you forgive him.
“He’s in the throne room please give him a chance at least to talk.”
You bit your lip weighing your options.
“Okay thank you Bilbo.”
You laid your fingers on the brass door giving it a light push. The corridor was illuminated with candles giving it a golden glow. You always reminded others and yourself the beauty of the halls, effortless in their ways despite their only purpose being to walk through.
“Y/n,”
You swung your head back to face the Hobbit a few feet away from you. His expression greatful and thankful that he had managed to get you to warm up the the idea of addressing Thorin.
“Thank you for standing up for me.”
You smiled, your heart quickly warmed to Bilbo he was naturally a joy to be around and was the only other one besides Thorin and his nephews that could raise your spirits in an instance. He valued small things something to be admired since gold and silver were most commonly a prised possession.
Your heart hammered against your chest the moment Thorin came into view. He was without a crown and his head lay defeatedly in his hands. He looked so stiff you wondered if he had been like it since you left. His dark hair weaving through his fingers loosely hanging in the air. You noticed the gleam of jewels out of the corner of your eye and just as Bilbo said, his crown lay a distance away carelessly tossed on the floor.
You drew a deep breath, your voice echoing around the throne room.
“Thorin.”
His head shot up partly from shock. This was the first time he had heard you say his name in months. Ever since the dragon sickness he demanded you call him ‘my king’ and so what used to be your words of kindness soon haunted him with bitterness. The dark circles and tear tracks under his eyes were also concerning he had clearly been getting little if any sleep. Regret keeping him company in lonely nights. He cried every night for you clinging to your pillow cursing himself over and over for loosing you. Today he thought he lost you for good.
His eyes bore into yours every passing second reduced your confidence. Your mouth opened to speak but no words came out. You were reminded of the time he first broke your heart, it was in these very halls his voice ringing in your ears as insult after insult poured from his mouth. This memory bled into another. You were out looking for the Arkenstone clinging to the hope that once Thorin had it he would change, you slipped and fell cutting your leg deep from your knee to your ankle. Guards had to carry you back inside. You were expecting Thorin to show sympathy and tend to you immediately but he yelled and cursed at you for not finding his treasure. That was the second time he broke your heart.
Memory after memory swirled in your head each one making you tremble until you let out a broken, “Thorin.” He was at your side immediately bringing you into his arms. Tears streamed down your face but this was the most loved you’d felt in what seemed like a century.
“I missed you Thorin, I missed you so much.”
Thorin hugged you tighter crushing you against his chest. You had faced his wrath far too many times he had broke you. Just thinking about it made him feel sick to his stomach. He gently cupped your face with his hand pressing his lips firmly against yours. He rubbed comforting circles wherever his hands could reach. He finally had you in his arms again and now it was his turn to take care of you. His mind fumbled around with the only words he neglected to say for months.
“I love you.”

Days had passed. The mountain remained silent, much like those who now too shelter in it.
You had hardly spoken to anyone after you got back into Erebor, and no one seemed to notice. Everyone was too busy keeping busy to avoid thinking about Thorin and his oh-so-clear dragon sickness to worry too much about you.
Most thought you were exploring. Others thought you were keeping a hidden eye on the dwarf king. The smarter ones thought you were keeping clear of Thorin so as to not stur his anger again. In a way they were all right. You were exploring, and keeping a very distant eye on Thorin. But most of all you were waiting at Erebor’s broken gates for the others of your Company. You needed to make sure they still got home safe.
Eventually, in the distance, you saw figures approaching, and for the first time in days you smiled. But then you stood, leaning over the barricade to make sure you were seeing things correctly.
There were supposed to be four approaching; Fili, Kili, Bofur and Oin. But there were only three.
Your breath caught in your throat, and you turned around and slid down against the stone, head in your hands.
What was happening? Why were there only three? The fourth mustn’t be dead already, that wasn’t how this works. Everything was supposed to play out the same, and at the end everyone lives. This was the happy ending. No one dies while you were here. That’s why you were here!
You stood, rushing out of Erebor, sprinting as fast as your legs could carry you. You ran, you ran and you didn’t stop until you could completely make out the faces of the three of the Company that had made it to Erebor.
You first saw Bofur, still meters away, but that hat was recognizable anywhere. Oin was behind him, smiling softly at you. Behind Oin was Kili, looking somber as ever. You stood, feet planted to the dirt and grass underneath you, and the trio stopped too.
“Where is Fili?” you asked, voice raspy from the run, and your chest ached as did your legs, but you didn’t care. No one said a thing. “Kili.” you said, looking the youngest Durin in the eyes. His lip wobbled, as did yours.
“He,” Kili shook his head, looking to the ground, “- he didn’t make it, (y/n).”
You felt the world disappear around you, and you stared at Kili, shaking your head and mumbling opposition under your breath.
Fili was dead.
“How?” you asked, and they all looked between each other. “Tell me, someone, how!”
“The dragon,” Bofur spoke, stepping forward and speaking in a way as if to calm you, “There was fire everywhere, buildings were collapsing left and right. Bard’s child, the boy, ran off. Fili went after him.”
Fili went after Bain? That didn’t make sense. Why would he do that in this version but not the movie?
“We tried searching. Those two Elves - the Prince and the Guard - helped too, but it was no use.” Oin finished, folding his arms against himself.
Legolas and Tauriel helped search for Fili, a dwarf. You ran your hands over your face, turning back to Erebor, and closed your eyes. Nothing was making sense!
You took a deep breath, folding your hands in front of your mouth and nose, thinking.
“Go to Erebor. Meet the others. You all need rest.” you said, only speaking loud enough so they could hear. “You’ve done well to get here.”
Bofur and Oin wordlessly went on, leaving you to watch them leave with Kili. Kili came forward, standing next to you. You felt he was hesitant, and he was definitely still healing from the black arrow. He was weak, physically and emotionally, as he’d lost Fili, and had to say goodbye to Tauriel. You wrapped your hand around his arm, holding it and him close.
Fili was no more, and you had failed. Kili and Thorin were the only ones left. But with how everything was going, Thorin would be driven to his demise with the sickness, and Kili would be the one to take on Erebor. He was the only hope left.
There, on that little hillside, you both sunk to the ground, resting, and you cried together.
----------
Thorin really wasn’t himself. The fact Fili wasn’t with his brother - or that he wasn’t around at all - didn’t seem to bother him.
He hesitated for a moment at the news, but made no effort to show any grief or sorrow for his nephew. He just kept on about the gold. The treasure. The jewels and gems and coins. Fili didn’t matter. No one did.
Originally you’d planned to stay back, a few steps behind the returned members and Bilbo, but Thorin’s nonchalant attitude was making your blood boil. With a growl under your breath you came forward, going down the stairs and closer to Thorin. You stopped a few steps above the gold hoard, and shouted Thorin’s name, casting him out of his gaze at the coins.
“(y/n), my treasure, look at your king.” he said, smiling at you with his arms wide open. You felt your face contort into a sneer, and faintly recognised Bofur telling Bilbo to get the others.
“You, want me, to look at you?” you asked, voice deathly quiet and calm, but your eyes showed nothing but red rage. “You want me to care about you so much that I forget Fili? Your nephew and heir is dead and you do nothing but stare at some worthless gems!”
“These gems,” Thorin started, still smiling, and came closer to you, coins crunching under his feet, “Are not worthless. I could buy you a hundred times over with what I’m standing on alone.” He was addressing you as if you were a child. Innocent and naive.
“You’re not getting the point Thorin!” you yelled, stepping down onto the gold.
With that he eyed you. You were touching his gold. Standing on his gold. Speaking to him with no respect.
“I know why you’re here.” He said, tilting his head to look down at you, “You think I’m being unreasonable, greedy, selfish, heartless, cruel. But I am a king, and I am better than that. I’m not any of those things, all I am doing is making sure that this gold stays safe, and where it belongs.”
“This gold is driving you mad Thorin!” You said, fists clenched at your side as you glared up at him. “It’s not worth saving, not when we could save you instead.”
Thorin stood still, looking straight at you, unwavering. His face was blank and unreadable. You could only guess what was running through his mind, even if it was evident that this gold was running through his veins.
“You don’t understand. Do you?” he said, taking your face in his hand. You had no idea what he was doing, shown through how ridged your posture turned, but he was surprisingly gentle. “This gold is our lifeblood. Everything we have is because of it, and you should be counted blessed if you should lay your life down for it.” He ran his hand back to your neck, playing with your courting braid in his fingers. “As a king’s betrothed you will learn to understand.”
You did love Thorin. In a way you always had. He was your one, even back in your world you could remember loving no other like you did him. The look deep in his eyes showed he did feel the same, just in a lesser way. Now his love for the gold was too much. He was telling you that if push came to shove he’d expect you to die protecting the gold hoard, not the people you loved.
You could never agree to that. You could never learn to understand that.
“Thorin, I’m sorry.” you started, stepping back out of his reach, and even then you could still feel his touch. “You are not the Thorin I fell in love with. You’re not the Thorin I agreed to marry. I can’t become your queen when you care so little about your family and me.”
He looked at you, face turning to one that was gentle to one much more harsh.
“I am a king. If I say you will learn you will, and if you are to marry me then you will!” he said, voice loud and thunderous. “You will obey me!”
“You may be a king. But you’re not my king!” You yelled back, stopping him where he stood. “I am not from this world, and you have never ruled over me! I am not a subject or a servant to boss around. There is only one way you can do with me as you please, and that is if I am dead!”
“Then I hope your death is long, and slow, and that you die alone.” Thorin replied, not missing a single moment. “I never want to see you again.”
With that he turned away, and you turned and left him to his gold.
Making your way up the stairs, you met with the others. Turns out the whole Company managed to watch what happened. At least you had no explaining to do.
“(y/n), you know he wasn’t -”
“Balin, I’m sorry,” you said, facing the older dwarf, “I can’t stay. Not just because of him. I need to go find Fili.” As you mentioned his brothers name, Kili flinched.
“(y/n), Fili isn’t -”
“If Fili died I would have felt it, Kili!” You purse your lips together, shoulders slumping, “It’s what I’m here for. To protect the line of Durin. Thorin will be fine with his gold. And I trust you to stay out of trouble. I promise, one way or another, I will bring Fili back.”
