When Hawke prepared to flee Kirkwall, Orana promised that she would keep the estate ready for her return. This is easier and harder in some ways than Orana anticipated. Easier, because she has the Captain of the Guard on her side when vultures begin to circle to scoop up what's left of Hawke's power in the city. It makes Orana nervous, that she'll let Hawke down but she cooperates with Aveline when papers need signing to appoint Orana as the official executor of Hawke's estate in spite of the fact that the woman is Very Much Alive. Dependent on the Hawke I am writing with, Orana is even formally adopted and legally takes the Hawke name further smoothing the process of keeping the estate safe and maintained. Bodahn and Sandal pack their things next, off to Orlais for more peaceful business and Orana bids them farewell as well. Harder, when Leliana and Cassandra come with sweet words and thinly veiled threats respectively. When the Seeker comes and near tears through the city looking for the champion Orana is cooperative enough, but tight-lipped. She knows where Hawke is, vaguely, she doesn't have definitive locations so it does not feet overmuch like lying to say she cannot help in finding Hawke. It is almost true, more so she thinks than whatever Varric tells the Seeker, considering he is dragged away. Varric isn't part of the estate, of course, and therefore isn't truly her responsibility but she does still feel guilty that there was nothing she could do to stop him from being taken. He was Hawke's too, the few of them that were left dwindling as the dreadful war rages on. Still, she keeps the estate in pristine shape, the larder managed meticulously, the linens cleaned and pressed even though she only has guests every few months. When those left of Hawke's crew pass through Kirkwall and need a place to rest. Mostly Fenris and Isabella, who could stay elsewhere but don't mind keeping the young elf company in her lonely vigil.
