In the spirit of the Memorial Day holiday, a time to honor America's fallen heroes who served our country, LA on Cloud 9 joined forces with the Vet Hunters to serve hot meals to our homeless vets and homeless community. We distributed hundreds of blessing bags filled with Sandwiches, drinks, snacks, etc. It was a special experience for our volunteers to be able to spend Memorial Day weekend helping our Veterans in need, by providing basic necessities to those currently experiencing homelessness. From LA on Cloud 9, thank you to all those active, retired, and fallen members of the armed forces who serve and/or have served selflessly, and have given their all for our wonderful county. You are a part of what makes our country so great! Join us next Sunday for another Street Team Soldiers event! Save the Date- August 14, 2nd Annual Gala at Luminaria's Restaurant, Monterey Park. #VetHunters #thevethuntersproject #LAonCloud9 #lac9 #MondayNightMission

"I'm a veteran from fort mead. Since the first Persian Gulf War I was in combat and did 6 months there. First I had a home, and a job. Then suddenly, I had a heart attack, and within two weeks, I lost all of my medical benefits because my job could not hold me any longer, and because I had a heart attack I could not lift anything. (crying) I’m not 19 anymore; I can’t make it like used to. I’m proud to be a veteran. “its not what your country can do for you, its what you can do for your country.” Now I did that part, and now it is time to come back and get the other part. I know there is money there for us. There’s somebody I need to talk to, but I don’t know who to talk to. So I’m trying to follow all the protocols to find out what they have for me. So I’m not sure yet, but I’m not going to give up until the last breath of mine" -Ronald Bruceman. ARMY

"My career started in the army when they began to train women into men’s profession, I was radio operator in infantry division with a radio on my back and a weapon. After sometime, I was transitioned into the air force as a clerk. I LOVED IT, it was successful and lots of fun. You move around approximately every 16-18 months, so there was never much time to full grasp that friendship. What is more frustrating now is that most of the housing I can afford is in areas I do not want to be in. I had waited on a waitlist in the apartment I lived in for 4 years; once i had gotten into the apartment building they sold it and raised the rent. I initially paid $300 a month and I no longer had the funds to support a one bedroom for over $1000 a month, and that is how I ended up a homeless. To find out how many veterans are homeless is frightening. There are many people out there who do not even know that veteran are homeless.” -Nora Bender, age 67

“What does it (Veteran's Day) mean to me? How can I answer this truthfully? I want to SIT DOWN and CRY. This is not how I was raised, but my current situation just makes me want to cry. What else am I supposed to do?” -John B King Jr. Army.
