11.  Books and/or authors who influenced you the most

N.K. Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy redefined how I do timelines and multiple POVs, if only because using a single throughline for worldbuilding but spreading it across three POVs was brilliant. There's so much more I took from that trilogy but the way she incorporated worldbuilding across POVs was really neat to me.

The Song of Achilles altered how I handle emotional timeskips and specific ways of how I write sentences.

rachel writes on Youtube is an author I absolutely adore and a lot of what she says really resonates with me. She also convinced me, via video, to write in third person present tense which is SO FREEING.

Mindy McGinnis is another author who really inspires me. And she influences a lot of how I write tension, horror, and grief. The Female of the Species did a lot for my writing.

18.  If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be, and what would you write about?

I want Hot Wheels to give me the rights to Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 and then I want Netflix to collab with me to make a five season and two movie animated series in the style of Arcane but HOT WHEELS BATTLE FORCE 5.

This is the ONLY collab I have EVER given serious thought to. I'm not sure about anything else.

Okay let's go with favourite line I wrote this WEEK, which is in chapter 8 of Descent:

Directions to the pinned map appear a moment later. Nat swipes open their music and queues the same song about a dozen times before hitting play. It’s close enough. They’ll walk.

Something about like. The extreme VIBE of the song queuing, while also the specificity of the detail, while also this short punch of the last two sentences. It's not as good out of context but it's still very good.

Favourite scene in a fanfic is still the moment in You and Me where Qrow finally tells Ruby and Yang the truth about their parents' deaths. It's a scene I cried through many times while writing and editing.

Emergency: Help Evacuate My Family From GAZA WAR

Hello, I am Marah from Gaza, I am 23 years old, studying at Al-Azhar University.

I am writing these words after deep thought, as the urgent need to save me and my family is beyond my ability to bear.

I would like to add that I am studying law, and I aspired to become a valuable lawyer in my country.

I wished my days would be better and that I would not live in war deprived of my most basic rights.

But the war came and destroyed all our dreams and ambitions.

We had a supermarket and my brother worked in it and our life was very happy, but it was completely destroyed and now we have no source of income.

Also, my mother suffers from an enlarged thyroid gland and diabetes. Because of what we are going through, we cannot provide any treatment; her condition is getting worse.

Also, my father had a stroke because he heard about the loss of our relatives and he also lost our home. He worked all his life to build his life home. We suffer from diseases and lack of clean water.

We are living death.

I am writing this with full hope to find people with kind hearts to help and support to regain my physical ability to walk and work again.

My name is Ahmed Al Yazji. I am 20 years old living in Gaza and in need for urgent medical treatment after being dangerously injured by a recent Israeli airstrike.

On Nov 11, 2023, I was at home staying peacefully with my family when an air strike hit the house causing severe damage to the building and serious injury to my neck.

The medical images show part of a rocket still present in my neck which according to the report will potentially cause me complete paralysis if not removed.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to do the needed surgery in Gaza due to lack of medical expertise, the damaged hospitals and equipment caused by the war.

Before the war, I was working and taking care of my family and being responsible for the financial expenses.

Now with my injury, I am not physically capable of working which has been causing extreme hardship to my family who is now facing inevitable hunger and escalating health issues.

Today I was surprised that I have two white hairs, but one of them has withered and fallen out against its will. The war made me have them and they grew, and in the war they fell out.

I didn't have any gray hair before the war, I never had any. I was living in Gaza City studying English Literature in my fourth year and about to finish it so I could graduate. I was ranked third in my class, I was one of the top students in my major and I still am. I am still doing everything I can to just reach the point of being proud of myself as my mother and I aspired to be.

My life was so peaceful, surrounded by warmth, joy and happiness. Here we are searching among all the rubble for one hidden memory that unites us.

Many of my friends and loved ones have been martyred.

My whole family here ⬇️, my aunt, her children and her grandchildren were martyred.⬇️💔
