Pride with different sides ... Well Storm Ciara May be blowing a mighty gale here in a Pembrokeshire but it is always warm and cosy in my little pink shed. It is such a lovely, cosy, creative space and simply the best environment to help others find a bit of arty fartyness too!
This week I undertook a fabulous sewing workshop with a lovely local lady who had found her own creativity through a very inspirational friend. The local lady brought in her own fabric and we decided to make a cushion with contrasting sides. We added a buttonhole and a vintage button as cute feature on the reverse.
We both loved the cushion, which was sewn beautifully, and I really think this lovely lady's inspirational friend is smiling rather proudly right now!

Football is most definitely not my thing. My family are all proud Swans fans and still tease me over the time we hired a box at the stadium for my Dad’s 70th birthday and I declared that I was “reading the magazine in the interval.” Apparently I was supposed to say “reading the programme at half time!” Me and The Husband are a match (see what I done there) made in heaven as football is definitely not his thing either! (Phew!)
However I do understand the pride, love, passion and sense of belonging that football brings to so many and so, when I was asked by a lifelong Liverpool fan to make a Memory Cushion out of his Scouser Dad’s football shirt, I knew the huge importance of this sewing task and the trust the family had placed in me. 
You know I may not be a fan of football but I absolutely love how this very special Memory Cushion, instead of being tucked away in a drawer somewhere, can now sit quietly amongst the family. Warms my heart 💖 As a follow on from the post on my snazzy jazzy face masks I have had lots of requests for these brightly coloured, pretty masks. Me and my trusty Brother will soon start sewing like crazy and I hope that everyone who ordered them from me will have them by next weekend. 
In the meantime I have permission to share this fabulous photo of the very first recipients of Kazzy masks. These lovely ladies work in a local care home looking after vulnerable elderly residents. This photo warmed the cockles of my heart and I am sure you will all join me in sending them all virtual hugs and a great big massive thank you for doing such an amazing job with such care, love and devotion in these crazy times.

Little Ole Wine Drinker Me ... The Husband always says I have no patience with my arty projects. In some ways I understand his view as I am always ALWAYS impatient to see the end result. However I think with this latest project I think I have proven I have quite endless patience. In fact, has anyone else ever taken 5 years to create a perfectly perfect photo frame? For our wedding day I wrote Lee a cute little poem called ���Fifty and Married” and Little Sister read it out to our lovely guests during the marriage ceremony. Months later, as a surprise gift for me, Lee drew the poem and mounted it on card. He always said he would get it properly framed but, as his artwork measures a whopping 42 inches by 15 inches, finding a frame to fit was a bit of a task! However, I’m not sure why but, since we first moved into our little pink bungalow, I have been diligently saving all the corks from our Prosecco (and occasionally Champagne) bottles. It was actually becoming a struggle to close the cupboard which contained the bulging bag of corks so I was rather pleased by my lockdown stroke of genius. By using a long piece of wood (kindly sourced from my favourite pub landlord/ thank you Sir), a tub of gorilla glue and a couple of bottles of PVA, I created this masterpiece of a photo frame simply perfect for my poem. Patience huh? I very patiently drank fizz for FIVE long years in order to create this mighty piece of art! Now is that dedication to art or what! . One of the things I just love about getting 'arty farty' to design your own T-shirt is that each and every T-shirt leaving the ThreadShed is utterly unique and personal to the visiting designer. Holidaymakers come to me with a headful of ideas and together we play with online images, and use the Silhouette software, to turn their raw ideas into great T-shirt designs.
This week a father and son team turned their back on simple stock images and instead drew their own images. Each individual drawing represented an activity during their holiday in glorious Pembrokeshire. There were drawings of their Airbnb jet plane accommodation (complete with a PlayStation in the cockpit), a fun game of football golf, a kayaking adventure through caves, and of course a visit to The ThreadShed, and all were were drawn by the super bright and creative 7 year old holidaymaker and his Dad. The images came straight out of his imagination and a stack of coloured pencils.

Punkcil Cases - sometimes it’s nice just to sew a little something simple and different. Yesterday, tired after travelling, I spent a lovely few hours all cosy and warm in The ThreadShed making these big boy pencil cases - one for The Husband and one for his Oppo. The main cases are made from the legs of some old stretchy jeans and the patches are made from the fabric of some vintage 501s. The Husband and his Oppo are both wonderful artists and definitely needed big pencil cases for all their creative tools. Showing the Sewing ... Smiley, chatty Emily popped along to The ThreadShed for a sewing lesson during a half term visit to her Granny. There is an option on my wonderful Brother sewing machine to remove the foot pedal and instead use a button to stop and start the machine. This is a great feature when working with children and helps them get to grips with controlling both the fabric and the needle. Emily told me that her favourite fruit was watermelon so we also decided to embroider a cute personalised patch to sew onto her cushion. The animal print furry fabric Emily chose was quite bulky, and not so easy to sew as the two sides didn't stay together easily. However when we were finished Emily checked the cushion very carefully to make sure it was all stitched properly. Her inspection was so thorough that Granny and I decided Emily had a future career in quality control. The end result was FAB-U-LOUS and Emily now has a gorgeous, personalised, fluffy cushion for her bedroom that she has made herself and how many 10 year olds can say that huh?
