Hello writers! The author sign-ups for The Terror Big Bang 2022 are officially open. 

Sign-ups will run from today, Friday April 1, 2022, until Saturday April 30, 2022.

Authors are not required to provide any fic information upon signing up; you will provide this closer to claims. Signing up does not commit you to completing the challenge; you may drop out at any time prior to claims by contacting one of the mods. Please also be aware that, though we will make every effort to ensure authors are paired with an artist, signing up does not ensure you’ll be partnered, though we try our utmost to get everyone paired.

New for this year: This sign up period is for authors only. Artists and betas will have a separate sign up period that will open on June 1st.

Artist and beta sign-ups for The Terror Big Bang 2022 are officially open!

Sign-ups will run from today, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, until Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

The minimum requirements for artists are one drawing/painting/etc (digital or traditional) or two edits/gif sets/etc. Signing up does not obligate you to claim a fic, nor does it ensure it.

Betas will fill out a short questionnaire and subsequently be entered into a directory, which we’ll provide to authors later in the challenge.

Posting begins on August 20th!

Hello all! We are here with this year’s closing survey. Reflecting on this year and looking toward the next. If you have suggestions or concerns, this is the place for those. 

To that point, we are aware of the issues surrounding the post-claims drop out rule that was announced far too late in the game this year.

The rule will remain, as it is fairly standard for large events across fandoms (the mods have personal experience with it in the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings/Silmarillion fandoms) and also drastically improved the situation we've had with ghosting in the past. However, it will be baked in from the start now, and we will be making more thorough announcement posts prior to the start of next years Bang.

Please fill out this survey by November 30th to give feedback on your 2022 Terror Big Bang experience.

It’s time for our first author check-in! Emails with a google form link have gone out to all registered authors—please check your spam folders and contact us ASAP if you haven’t received one.

Responses are due by 11:59 PM PT on June 4, 2022. If you fail to respond to this check-in, we will be forced to withdraw you from the challenge, so please stay on top of this! The google form is very brief and just to ensure you’re on track for completion.

Terror Bang Rules Update

In advance of claims, we’d like to announce a new rule that will go into effect this year: any participant (writer or artist) who drops out or is forced to withdraw* after claims will be ineligible to participate in the following year’s round.

This rule is already in place for many other big bangs, and we hope it will help discourage late-event dropouts and forced withdrawals, which can be incredibly disappointing and stressful for all those involved.

You will only be penalized for your own dropout or forced withdrawal (i.e., if your team member drops out or is forced to withdraw, you will not be penalized along with them). We will still try to find pinch hitters for authors whose artist drops out, but we will not be searching for author pinch hits.

* Forced withdrawals would occur if a participant becomes incommunicative, fails to complete check-ins, etc.

Summary submissions are here!

Authors, it’s finally time to submit your summaries and claims info! Emails have gone out to all registered authors with a link to our summary submission google form. If you haven’t received one, please check your spam folders and email us ASAP!

Your responses are due by 11:59 PM PT on Tuesday, July 5th. Failure to submit your claims info will result in withdrawal from the challenge, so make sure you get your forms in!

As a reminder, there’s a 300-word limit on all responses. We recommend you draft your answers elsewhere so you don’t lose your progress if the window refreshes!

More information regarding the claims process is available on our claims guide (also available on carrd). Artists, as a reminder, you’ll receive an email with a link to our summary gallery on the 6th (three days before claims open)!

Artists, check your inboxes! We’ve just sent out a link to our claims gallery, which contains summaries and relevant information for all fics up for claims this year! As a reminder, you’ll have a few days to familiarize yourself with the gallery before claims open.

You will be emailed a link to our claims form at 6 AM PT on July 9th. Our first round of claims will remain open for 48 hours.
