Guys I’m not okay I’m digging myself back into a hole of iron giant and other childhood movie nostalgia and thinking about all of these movies is making me actually want to cry

I love you goofy looking aarakocra, dragonborn and tabaxi. I love you hiring bridgerton guy just to be hot and untouchable and having his first major scene staged so that one tiddy is always artfully exposed. I love you well choreographed fight scenes and a beautifully chaotic representation of six seconds of combat. I love you compelling plot point of attunement requiring a successful role with your spellcasting modifier. I love you solving puzzles by shoving round p(ainting)egs into square holes. I love you forcing Justice Smith to do a British accent for no reason. I love you level 20 NPCs who can’t help the party against the big bad for ambiguous reasons. I love you bigby’s hand slap fights. I love you Nat 20s on potato attacks. I love you owlbears, mimics and gelatinous cubes. I love you dragons, I love you dungeons. I love you dnd movies that love dnd.

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.
Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.
Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.
And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.
All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

Because it's just like. Darcy did everything Lizzy ever told him to, yknow? He asked how she thought people should kindle affection and she said dancing, so then he asked her to dance. She asked what he qualifies as an accomplished woman, he looked at her and the book she was reading, and said a well read woman. She said he should talk while they're dancing, so he asked about her and her sisters going to Merryton. She told him he should practice talking to people he's not already familiar with, so he came over and visited her the very next day. You know??? Do you see???? He has been shouting from the very start that he cares for her, in his own way, just as Jane shouted her love to Bingley, in her own way. And then when she was visiting Rosings and Lady Catherine de Bourgh, his own aunt, was being obnoxious and rude to her, he felt the shame of having undesirable connections just as she had in the beginning. Do you see it!!!! Mr Darcy has been ardently in love with her from the very beginning, and he's been missing the parallels between their lives the whole time!!! He's so pathetic and sopping wet it hurts!!!

Bartylus actor AU except they’re both child actors that grew up making movie after movie and they just so happened to get cast in the same projects and films over and over until it was pretty much part of their brand as actors.
Like when they’re little kids, they get cast in family movies with a lot of kids and they’re both part of the ensemble of children or main characters that are friends or something. At first it’s just chance because their families both have similar amount of influence so they just want their kids in similar movies until it happens way too many times for comfort. By their pre teen years it’s instilled into their brand and they’re rarely seen in movies without the other, but the characters they play don’t always have the same relationship, like sometimes theyre enemies, friends, and then eventually… love interests. It’s coming of age or tragic romance when they’re young but as they grow into teens and young adults they just always play either a couple in romance movies or like a will they won’t they dangerous romance in action movies. They’re both genuinely good actors and have many different roles across many different genres and play each well because they’re good at faking.
But the one thing they aren’t faking is that they do actually like each other. They became fast friends as children since they kept seeing each other on sets, their chemistry as friends on screen was real. And then they got closer and closer as they grew up and their feelings for one another started to rise but they genuinely believed it was just because they had started playing in a lot of romantic roles together and it was just because they’re good actors. It’s not until they aren’t cast as each other’s love interest, for once, and they have to do the same routine with someone else and they realize that they don’t feel the way they do with each other with these strangers. It’s not just a role, it’s real, and always has been. It feels like actual faking to pretend anything else.

Small but significant character moments that I actually really adore are from both the times we see the boys as tots. There is a reoccurrence that happens in both of them that I find so incredibly interesting.
For the turtle tot short, Splinter leaves the boys with weapons. In the short, Raph is the one who suggests they do “what Lou Jitsu would do” and Leo is the one who takes point when Splinter comes back to reprimand them. Leo, in taking point, is the one to defend them and get Splinter off their tails.
And then, in the flashback regarding the Kuroi Yōroi helmet, Raph is the one who grabs and throws “Skully” as a way to replace their missing ball which breaks it into pieces, but Leo is the one who speaks for the group and rushes into action to fix the teapot.
I love this for multiple reasons, but the biggest are how it shows that Raph has always been inclined toward the bold and fun and making the plans to include his brothers in what he loves and believes they’d love, whereas Leo has always been inclined to be the “Face” of the group and shoulder the attention even if it’s potentially negative all while coming up with on the spot attempts to fix the situation.
