AZULA

Azula explicitly considers herself a monster. She says needlessly cruel things to her brother and friends. She kills the show's twelve-year-old protagonist and masterminds the idea of burning down the entire Earth Kingdom to force them to submit to Fire Nation rule. I have absolutely seen people get called abuse apologists for thinking she's a cool character. But she's also a (canonically) mentally ill fourteen-year-old who was raised by her father to see her ability to be weaponized as her only value. Her mother, arguably the only adult in her life who could have had a positive impact, had a strained relationship with her because she was more difficult than her brother, and then disappeared when she was nine. Her uncle, who was her brother's main healthy role model, took absolutely no interest in her. She watched her father belittle her brother for years and eventually throw him away when he failed to meet his expectations, so that was a threat she was always facing. She really had no chance. And she also has moments that suggest she wants some sort of meaningful connection with another person. She lets her brother take credit for killing the Avatar so he can come back from exile, even though it means she'll be bumped back in the order of succession and offers him advice that seems genuine. Her spiral into a mental breakdown starts when her friends betray her. She's just a much more interesting and multifaceted than a lot of the fandom gives her credit for.

he's evil and kills like hundreds, maybe thousands of people, for like not super good reasons (like killing the person who wronged you as a child? understandable in the setting of the story. killing every single person associated with that person? perhaps a bit overkill baby). tricks a character he's obsessed with into murdering a lot of innocent people including that guy's best friend. that all being said, I love him to death like that's my special little babygirl yeah he commits atrocities but have you considered that maybe he just needs someone to love him? or even that he looked cute while committing the atrocities? but nor fr I was kinda surprised when I got to the fandom stuff and realized that there were people who really hated Xue Yang because I just felt sorry for him and wanted to pat his head or something.

WHAT AHPPENED IN MALOKI

assuming that was a genuine question explanation of the ending under the cut because jesus christ that ending was actually so wtf i NEED to talk about it CAUSE WHAG WAS THATT but it's kind of long so

ok i guess ill start from post-amusement park ballpit etc because thats kind of where things pick up

freyja convinces them to back to asgard to go take back odins throne from everyone who's fighting over it. she stays on midgard by the emergency exit if anything goes wrong. odin and loki head up there and then go visit baldr who convinces odin to free him on account of "dad....... ☹️☹️☹️" which works and then baldr beelines for the throne and so loki and odin hop on sleipnir to beat him but when they hop off him they fall back down the emergency exit hole.

so earlier hoenir gives heimdallr his staff back cause oh odins back now no need to talk over the world or anything. now while loki and odin are having a dinner party heimdallr breaks in in an attempt to kill that fake odin his staff created to psychologically torture loki. he's all "loki im finally GETTING MY REVENGE !!!" and then he trips and falls and drops his staff and odin picks it up and gets the eye reviving for real this time then immediately throws heimdallr out a window.

now they're all like OK ITS TIME TO FR FINISH RAGNAROK and so they go into asgard except the portal sends them into. baldrs like. mind world ??? ok here is where they start to lose me a little bit. i mean they lost me in a lot of places but like, especially here.

baldrs mind world is a night festival and the goal is to not get caught by baldr or he will turn you to stone which has happened to basically everyone except hoenir baldr himself and heimdallr who is seething the entire time still begging to fight loki. oh and urd but urd uhhh. turns into a swan or something and uses her magic to make loki an adult again disappearing in the process ?

when loki finally happens upon them hoenir tries to betray baldr with a fake staff that summons valkyrie's but it doesnt work. heimdallr tries to fight him for it because ??? look he's just been slowly getting flanderized into "I HATE LOKI AND I SUCK" over the course of this last manga so 😐😐😐 whatever anyway

baldr is like "OK LOKI LETS DUEL" and then THEY PULL OUT GUNS AND BALDR SHOOTS LOKI DEAD. and translation the app gave me was a little funky but the gist of it was that loki emptied his gun or like dropped his weapon or whatever because he didn't want to kill baldr and then baldr starts uhh crying. and then they get whisked back to the real world ACTUAL asgard and loki is. ALIVE ???

i don't even know how that works the dialogue literally just says "i was hiding!" and he's a child again so i can only assume the swan magic protected him. anyway thenbaldr is like "OK LOKI LETS FIGHT FR" and then they show off a bit of rune magic or whatever

then odin is all "why did you do all that baldr" and the very tragic sad explanation is basically. he was in love with urd and didn't like that loki and urd were also probably in love (???) and also he wanted uh attention and respect or something like that and didn't want to wait for the throne so he put odin on the self possessed him and then caused the entire plot.

odin is like "awhh ☹️☹️☹️" and makes him king.

they finally free all the valkyries aka every girl that was brutally murdered over the course of this story which revives them and they're sent back to their normal lives.

then hel shows up and is like "hey guys what's up here's my portal to helheim. the norns have already gone in your turn !" SO THEN ODIN AND FREYJA FORCE EVERYONE TO COMMIT MASS SUICIDE TOGETHER (minus loki). YEAH. EVERY GOD FROM BEFORE THIS INSTALLMENT IS DEAD. actually technically heim freyr and hoenir didn't wanna die they got pushed in so really that was a murder on freyja's hands but she's also dead anyway so it doesn't matter.

and then loki goes back to living his life as a child detective and ermmm yeah ^_^ the end ! what the fuck ! was that !

Depends on your definition of best. Aiden plans all the cool/exciting stuff and he actually has the money for all the stuff he wants to do with her. Ash's dates are more romantic, if only by virtue that they're in quiet places where they can be alone. Tho neither of them plan dates a lot they just kinda end up alone together lol

3. Who's the best at carnival games?

Aiden's been to a lot of carnivals and he's a good shot with a BB gun! Ash doesn't really like carnivals (overstimulating) but she's good at the fish pond and ring toss.

4. Who drags the other onto rollercoasters?

Aiden LOVESSSS rollercoasters so much, its a great way to get his adrenaline up! He'll ask Ash a lot to go on one too, but he won't force her (rollercoasters are *really* loud, especially all the people screaming, and he wouldn't make her do anything that causes her pain)

5. Who does the most chores?

Ash is pretty strict about chores, and she makes sure any household stuff is evenly split between them, but...I mean, she helps Aiden with his own chores cuz he's really bad at cleaning and stuff 🫠

At some point in the future: Depends what you mean. Aiden has a higher tolerance but he would also drink WAAAAAY more than Ash ever would, so he would get drunker "quicker", but if they were drinking exactly the same Ash would get tipsy faster (vertically challenged struggles fr 😔)

Aiden likes all that crap like Big Brother and stuff, watches reruns at night when he can't sleep.

Ash is more stubborn than Aiden is but her way is probably waaaay better than Aiden's way 🤡 Aiden might insist for a bit but he also finds arguing to be kinda boring so eventually he would drop it

Ash doesn't believe in ghosts at all, and Aiden is really into the idea of ghosts and would LOVE evidence, but he also doesn't believe in them.

Thank you discord for helping me settle this. We settled on Aiden because his parents/tutor definitely would have taught him how to do that so they could be in contact/to teach him about their job. Ash only does them for school and they end up really short and simple.

Did some real plot progression! Finished Tanimura's section ^^

The first and only thing I wanna say above the read more is F U C K that boat chase sequence. That was TERRIBLE. Had to switch to easy difficulty. I don't usually get motion sick, but that shit made me queasy. Controls were weird too. Or at least I thought they were.

Maybe I just suck - wouldn't be surprised. You see, I suck at those types of tasks in these games in general - the car/helicopter/truck shooting chase sequences in previous installments also had me tearing my hair out.

Corruption??? In law enforcement??? NO WAYYYY *pretends to be shocked* . Nah but fr. Wish I could say I'm surprised.

Okay I really wanna see how this was pulled off. I'm VERY curious. But also I feel SO bad for Saejima. He lost 25 YEARS of his life to murders he didn't actually commit. Obviously he would have done some time for attempting the whole thing, but I doubt it would have been anywhere close to that long.

IT'S ALL STARTING TO COME TOGETHER. I've been waiting for this!! Can't wait to see all the boys working towards solving this mess. I was worried for a second that this would be kind of like Y0 and they'd always be so close to each other but never cross paths.

I'm happy I actually managed to get this part right in my first impressions-based character analysis. Maybe it was obvious, I don't know. Always fun to see what I get right or wrong. Gosh, Akiyama is such an intriguing character. So, SO rich, yet still so kind.

Also I'm sorry but I still don't buy this Akiyama-Falling-For-Yasuko thing. Like sure!! I've heard love can be quite unpredictable and some people fall fast. Hell, maybe Akiyama is that type of person. But... I feel like they barely interacted in my opinion. I remember there was the whole "looks like my ex whom I still miss" thing and I guess that's... valid? But gahhh. I just don't feel this one.

In fact, if there's one thing I don't like about the games too much this far, it's how these "romances" are handled. It often feels like they either:

A) come out of nowhere (current example and Kiryu and Yumi imo) OR

B) they're there for a very small amount of time and then they're kind of... pushed aside and not explored (Kiryu & Kaoru).

Only exceptions I can come up with are... OBVIOUSLY Majima and Makoto and, while it wasn't a romance, I also liked the thing with Reina and Nishiki in Kiwami. Yes, despite how that one ended. Dunno know if that's a hot take or not.

Looking back, there were some visible flags for this that I probably should've picked up on. But to be honest, I don't tend to pick up on things on first playthroughs in general, AND it had been a while since I played Akiyama's part. This one was a surprise.

I liked this warehouse scene a lot in general. Sugiuchi's power play of "What are you gonna do? Shoot me? Japanese police don't shoot!" was rad and it really showcased how much of a veteran he is in terms of knowing how the police operate.

Also enjoyed the display of Tanimura's almost tunnel vision-type of determination for finding the truth. Consequences be damned; this man will shoot and fight if it keeps Sugiuchi there and gets him closer to his goal.

Sugiuchi being an undercover Yakuza member came out of left field for me. Gosh, I kind of wanna see more of this guy's life and how he operated back in the day. His backstory was cool enough to fit a protagonist character in my opinion.

Huh. Okay. Umm... lemme just... Process.

I can kinda sorta see it. Maybe. Still, a very risky plan. This relied on:

-all the men actually getting knocked out from the bullets (especially those that didn't hit their heads) after they were hit and not waking up right after

-Saejima not noticing the relatively significant lack of blood from the bullet wounds and on the floor at any point

-Saejima not checking for signs of life on Ueno Yoshiharu after the shot like a proper assassin would

-AND, glaringly, two yakuza not noticing the bullets not being proper bullets while inspecting them before the hit.

Clearly it worked, but... gosh. So many risks. Also can I just say... Munakata is SCARY sharp. I know he's trained to notice discrepancies in crime scenes, but the way he utterly DISMANTLED Sugiuchi's report was kind of terrifying.

The amount of sloppiness on Katsuragi's part makes me wonder if it was all purposeful, though. It was almost like he knew Munakata was sus and would wanna contact him.

NAHHH NO WAY😭😭 There was only one gunshot, though!!!! Someone survived, it has to be true!! (delusional) 🥺

Note: This was actually really fun and good for character building! I might do it for some other of my OCs at some point. Also, feel free to ship yourself and/or any of your OCs with Max, It’s always cute.

This can be read platonically or romantically in most cases.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Max is a pretty affectionate guy! Physically and emotionally, though he does still listen and watch to see how receptive you are to that. He’s considerate like that. He’s like a big ol’ golden retriever he just wants attention! Plus he deserves it, the guy has been through a lot. Give him some love.

B = Best Friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Omg Max is the greatest to have as a best friend.

I wholeheartedly believe he is a wholesome friend. He encourages you, supports you doing the things you love, and always makes sure nobody messes with you. You two probably have a lot of running inside jokes that confuse the hell out of everyone else too. He’ll just be laughing at something you said in the shop and Leo’s just like ??? Also if you’re a nerd like him be prepared to geek out together oml. You both have movie and game nights where you just sit and eat popcorn.

You also have the privilege of being one of the two (three if you count Max himself) people who knows about his Lycanthropy, so be proud.

C = Cuddle (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Fr cuddle with this boy he’s so warm, like he just radiates heat it’s so lovely. Max is always affectionate too. He’ll sort of wrap his arms around you and pull you into his chest, you can also sit in his lap if you want. He might fidget a little though, unless you’re watching a movie he’s really enraptured by.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

When he was younger Max was used to living off of pot noodles and pizza. If the need to cook for himself arised he’d just microwave something. Now he’s sort of had to learn to make other stuff and he can cook well enough now and he’s proud of it. He makes a really good eggs and bacon! But french toast is his specialty, it tastes ridiculously good. Seriously ask this man for his french toast if you’re ever in the position to you won’t regret it.

As for his living space, he keeps it clean enough for the most part though it is a bit disorganised. He’s conscious of anything smelling, especially now, so he keeps on top of things on that front. It sort of has a nice character to it when it’s a bit chaotic right? Lol.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Max honestly doesn’t really want to do it at all, even if there’s big issues in the relationship he wants to ignore it because he has a hard time truly letting go and confronting the problem. It might be a long time before you really ‘break-up’ unless you can make the first move in that regard.

F = Fiancé(e) (how do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

He can do casual stuff but by now in his life he prefers committed relationships rather than flings honestly. If you get to know him to the point he feels like he can share all his secrets with you, the Lycanthrophy and murder stuff? He’ll definitely want to marry you at some point.

If you do have a wedding I imagine it would be outdoors honestly. Like very casual, with just your friends and family and Max’s friends in Downings attending. Actually kinda sappy with the vows and the first dance, if he has his way the song will absolutely be Black Sabbath - Sabbra Cadabra so be warned lol.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Max can get excitable and he did use to be a bit rowdy with his brothers/friends when he was younger too. It’s not rough so much as is him being energetic, if you’re ok with it he’s probably lifting you up all the time lol. He’s receptive to what you prefer though and he’ll try to be a bit gentler in that case. He’s also become more careful emotionally as he got a bit older, although sometimes he can be a little oblivious/dense at times.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Max loves hugs! He has different kinds of hugs depending on the type of relationship/vibe going on. Like there’s the side hug where he pats you on the back affectionately, there’s the excited hug after you both find out something great, then there’s the big bear hug where he lifts you right off your feet bc of that Lycan strength.

He gives nice comforting hugs if you have a bad day and/or need to cry it out or something. He’s really warm too.

I = I Love You (How fast do they say the L-Word?)

Kinda fast, maybe a little too fast if the crush hits him really quick. It’s genuine though! Especially if you’ve been good enough to accept his secrets, he feels like a lucky man that way. Even in a platonic sense, I can totally see him going ‘I love you man/buddy’ or something like that.

He’ll say it casually, even just as a greeting and goodbye, but it still means a lot to him. Telling him you love him while looking into his eyes is always a good way to make him blush and grin.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous)

Max isn’t a super jealous guy tbh, he trusts you if he’s in a relationship with you. Platonic is easy unless you are intentionally leaving him out or something.

He recognises when someone is just being friendly and when they are being flirty. He doesn’t appreciate anyone flirting with you if you’re in a relationship, so he’ll make it known you’re taken if you don’t. He’ll feel real proud and happy inside if you do that first, though.

Please don’t cheat on this boy, he’s been through enough, and he would literally never do that to you.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Max loves kisses! Both giving and receiving them. They really make him grin this goofy little grin. He’s definitely the person to smile into a kiss. Catch this man giving you little cheek kisses throughout the day and telling you you look good/smell nice.

He thinks it’s a bit funny if you’re so short you can’t reach without him bending down, but he’ll oblige for you every time because he’s nice like that lol.

L = Little Ones (How are they around children)

Really well! He’s still got a bit of big kid energy in himself so it’s easy for him to get along with most kids. He’s always the one giving piggyback rides and playing along with the tea parties. He honestly has no shame and yes he will wear the party hat it’s an honour?? His experience in playing d&d low-key comes in handy when entertaining kids with stories and such.

I could see him liking kids of his own, but he might have doubts due to his Lycanthropy. That sort of throws a wrench into the mix.

M = Mornings (How are mornings spent with them?)

Usually on week days he has to get up and go to work so for the most part he’s busying about getting ready. Making breakfast, getting dressed, brushing his teeth, all that kinda stuff. Sometimes you’ll wake up to the smell of sizzling bacon, or he’ll leave a little note to let you know he’s gone in to work (with a smiley face and/or heart) and he’ll be back later. Of course, if you have work/college he’ll make sure you wake up lol.

On weekends it’s a coin toss. Sometimes he likes to sleep in and be a bit lazy, so he’ll chill with you in bed. Other times you can be hanging out or going somewhere fun and interesting. He sometimes likes going out for a morning drive too.

He can get up early for work and stuff, but he’s most active in the afternoons and evenings.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Assuming he’s gone home to unwind for the night, Max will probably stick one of his favourite records on as he tucks into his dinner. He might get a bit of writing done too now that he has spare time! There’s a lot to get done for him lol and he often can’t decide what to do with his stories in the end.

On other occasions he’ll sit back with a beer and watch a movie or TV show he’s been enjoying recently. He totally gets obsessed with it and then goes online to write a fic about it 😌

(Also he’s totally the guy that won’t shut up the entire time omg, like if you’re with him put subtitles on lol he just can’t stop commenting on everything and analysing little details. Either join in or suffer)

Max also loves to go outside and watch the stars! He totally tries to impress you by telling you everything he knows about them. He’ll take you out on a ride on his motorcycle and you can make a little night out of it. This is probably the time you’re most likely to see him open up to you too.

O = Open (When do they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Regarding stuff like his interests, his general thoughts and feelings on things he’s a pretty open book honestly. You could be coming in to get your car fixed and you’ll come away knowing his favourite Lego set or something lol. It’s more the stuff to do with his life before Downings that’s harder to talk about. He might not tell you the exact reason why right away, but he’ll be open about the fact he wasn’t in the best place.

The big elephant in the room is obviously the Lycanthropy. No one in Downings knows, only Jack is his confidant in that regard. However, once you get sufficiently close to him and he trusts you enough, he’ll tell you. He’ll be nervous and sweating the entire time. It’s honestly partly him confronting his trauma, because the last time good friends of his found out… It didn’t end very well.

The killing is also something that would be… A difficult thing to approach. But if he does end up telling you, and you accept it? He’ll thank his lucky stars he has you. It’ll honestly be good for him if he can talk to someone about it other than Jack tbh, who isn’t always the easiest person to talk to.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they)

Honestly Max is usually laid-back and live-and-let-live, but there are definitely some things (and people) that piss him off beyond belief. He tries to contain it until he can get it out using healthier means, mostly for other poeple’s sakes. He can be surprisingly scary when he’s angry.

(Of course, if he thinks someone is sufficiently deserving he may well end up killing them too…)

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

He remembers big stuff, though he might forget little things. Remind him now and again, he doesn’t do it intentionally lol.

He’s the kind to remember the weirdest stuff you told him though, like that time you threw up in kindergarten? He remembers every detail that you told him down to the colour of your shirt you were wearing. It’s odd things like that that stick in his head the most.

R = Remember (What is their favourite moment in their relationship?)

The first time you played D&D together. It was your mutual friend Leo’s first time dming so you got to play with him and the twins, Joan and Jessie. Regardless of whether you’ve played the game before or are just learning now, you had a blast despite all the bumps along the way. Max has a way of making it all fun because of how he drives everything forward, even with Leo being kind of nervous in the DM role. His roleplaying is immaculate, it's actually quite impressive.

(Also if you are in a romantic relationship your characters were totally also dating in the game)

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Max is pretty protective, this loyal boy will always stand in front of danger for you too. He knows he’s stronger than the average person because he’s a Lycan so he’s of the impression that it’s better him than you get hurt if that’s the case.

(He might eat someone who hurt you later too)

If you get protective over Max it really touches his heart. But he begs you to please don’t put yourself in harm’s way for his sake! He’d have a heart attack owndldjd omg he’d be so worried for you.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks)

Dates with Max are usually laid back and fun! He loves exciting stuff like going to the cinema, going to concerts, going to amusement parks (he gets memories from when he was a kid, which is slightly bittersweet), maybe even conventions if you’re a little nerdy like him! But also casual stuff like lounging at home enjoying eachother’s company. His idea of a romantic getaway is going out stargazing too.

(Also going to a planetarium?? Yes)

He’s actually pretty big on anniversaries and birthdays and will keep his eyes peeled around those times to find out anything that’s on your wish list… He also tries to be romantic in his own funny way, but don’t expect him to be very good at wining and dining in a suit and all lol. He’s more comfortable sitting back at home with you watching a film you both love and eating pizza.

Be assured if you have any mechanical issues, with your car or with anything else, he will fix it for you. You don’t even have to ask, he’s got it done. He’s pretty strong too, partially from the Werewolf genes. If you need any heavy lifting done he’s your man.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Putting aside the occasional murder and dog smell.

He has the habit of ignoring his problems in hopes they’ll just go away on their own, and it usually comes back to bite him in the ass later.

This also means that if you end up having a fight he really just wants to stop fighting and make up again, because he hates arguing with you. Even if you’re completely at fault, he’d rather just appease you and go back to getting along again. This could become a problem if it causes issues further down the road…

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Max is sort of in the middle. He likes to be fashionably unkempt lol, his whole aesthetic is definitely intentional. He takes pride in his hair too, he always has. It’s curly and soft, you should totally feel it sometime. He loves having his hair pet so it’s a win win.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Max has at this point in his life lost basically lost his entire past life and all of his family and previous friends… It’s a question of whether or not he can lose his friends again. I think once he really gets attached, without you he’ll end up being very depressed. It’s almost retraumatising.

X = Xtra: (A random headcanon for them)

He started writing fanfic when he was like 13, but he didn’t publish anything online until he was 15-16 or so. It was kind of almost a secret because his brothers were less into that stuff than he was. It was mostly Star Wars fics (Luke Skywalker is low-key his self insert shhh) and he actually gained a small following.

He… Went on hiatus, but he’s started to write again now. He loves reading fics too, has definitely gotten emotionally attached to certain series’ as well lol.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Overly controlling behaviour, being negatively critical of people’s quirks/his nerdy interests, manipulation, disloyalty and cheating.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)

Death's Game S1 & S2 Live Blogging

This is a pretty recent release, Season 1 in December and Season 2 in January. Hadn't heard much about it until I saw Pocha Playlist podcast covering it but I didn't listen to that episode. Then, I found out that Lee Dohyun plays a (reincarnation) character in it and it's getting good reception, so here we are.

Ep 1: Death (Jan 29)

Okay I think I heard the main character commits suicide and is granted like 14 lives to make the person he's in charge of live a full life or smth like that

I'm actually still so confused/curious about how this quite works though because like in the airplane, other people also died. So, if he had survived and managed to make them survive, would they have also survived? And in the famous thrill-seeker thing, it's like being streamed by millions of people or whatever, so in the original universe they've already seen this and they're dealing with the aftermath of that death but this is a different universe that started at that savepoint?

Like I guess I'm just wondering whether this is a parallel universe? If not, what about all the other people involved who have supposedly already experienced this with the original person's death already.

Anyway, without thinking too much, this is super cool and interesting. So far, it's just been thrilling and quick/snappy deaths, kinda reminds me of the Squid Game and Alice in Borderland missions/games, but I'm assuming it'll get more heart-wrenching as it goes on (Lee Dohyun's storyline apparently? okay I saw a tiktok for his story and that's where I realized he's in this show but I didn't really understand what was going on and didn't try properly finding out beyond he's supposed to save some girl? or smth idk)

Ep 2: The Reason You're Going to Hell (Jan 29)

Is the woman who apparently died a gruesome dead Yi Jae's ex-gf? Since the Yi Jae photo was lying on the ground? And maybe Lee Dohyun was supposed to save her in the tiktok I saw? or is it his mother?

Ah, they're clearly hinting that Yi Jae's death hurt a lot more than just himself (ie. his gf, his mother) and that's why he's being punished

Okay do I need general thoughts and a rating and everything? It's just 4 episodes of an 8 episode show which is divided like this not because it's a completed story but because of greed (get 2 months' subscription instead of 1).

Also, before watching the next 4 eps tmrw, I will be catching up on all the hundreds of on-air comments (I just read the episode-specific comment threads) and reblogging people's part 1 gifs hehe and have to do the MDL and monthly/yearly updates and stuff just like a usual show even though... it's a 4 episode half of a show, not even a full one lol I considered just treating it like 1 8-episode show but Part 1 ended in 2023 while Part 2 ended in 2024, so I can't oof

General Thoughts:

Really good and interesting, I'm enjoying it a lot. If I had watched more kdramas and known more actors, I would've definitely been having even more fun based on the r/kdrama on-air comments + my reaction to Lee Dohyun. My favourite eps are eps 2 and 4, they balanced a good amount of heart with excitement (for ep 2) and plot progression/answers (ep 4). The 18 Again characters/actors were already haunting me but Lee Dohyun once again 1) playing a character who is in his body but isn't himself, 2) interacting with the lohl as this other guy who his lover doesn't know while he himself knows and regrets not being a better bf/husband and 3) interacting with the same actress playing mother/mother-in-law character, also not as himself but as the character stuck in Lee Dohyun's body. I was just watching this month's Certified Noonas What We're Watching episode and someone mentioned that part 2 is more horror and gory? Okay, interesting because I thought Part 1 started off kinda action/thriller and then went into a more heart-felt, less gory direction but I guess it's veering into that direction again

Also from the on-air part 1 comments, seems like there's a serial killer (is it just the Taekang CEO?), a homeless guy, a gamer among the people left. Also, I think I read a spoiler that his last iteration was his mother? I scrolled away really fast after registering that but hmm

also I've been calling this killer guy Taekang CEO but is that true? who knows? Maybe it's a diff dude because the guy who just killed the other dude and made a "painting" didn't seem like the same guy whose face we flashed to during Lee Dohyun's death idk

Yknow, the fact that these videos are evidence and "were confirmed to be true" really does make me wonder what'll happen as AI gets better and better in skill but worse for like the world and society lol

Ep 4: Don't Go Looking For Death, Death Will Come Find You (Jan 30)

Ouch because obviously it's tragic but more ouch that I'm not emotionally connecting with it a whole lot because Yi Jae has died and his mother has also functionally died since he's taken over her body and it's like... old interactions as a way to grow and learn and not as a way of reconciliation/coming together again

Oh, he lived for 32 years as his mother, that's almost 1.5x my current age. I guess he's also like 50 years or smth now if he was ~28 then

Ah, he got to live again

General Thoughts:

As I mentioned before, fuck the message of "suicide is a sin, you must be gravely punished, why not think of and live for your family and friends, think about other people who want to live but can't, so could you kill yourself, you selfish bastard." In shows like this, it's of utmost importance to just roll your eyes and see the story/acting/etc. that's not just this message. I'm glad it was brought up more in the part 2 on-air thread in r/kdrama because part 1 had only a few such comments and didn't have that many upvotes.

Eps 1 to half of 3 were interesting and exciting but in the way of "I'm watching a show with murder and gore and people trying to outsmart each other" rather than about this specific show (although in the end I liked that we got the whole gang (lol his previous iterations) and their skills to punish Tae-u. Although it's a bit jarring that Death wasn't specifically making him go to deaths connected to Tae-u it just happened that way lol. It also made the come-down and slow nature of ep 4 boring to me, although it was touching.

The ending is... okay, I guess, expected it.

In Part 1, Death just left something to be desired for me and this kinda continued here. I think it's maybe the acting? She should have been more menacing or more like a trickster, idk. Her getting offended at stuff Yi Jae says feels silly and idk she should've seemed more Death-like ig. Just seemed like an especially mean and stubborn boss. Such a shame because the show focused on so many male characters that the highest-billed female character fell flat.

Don't think I'll think of this show much (except maybe Lee Dohyun?) and the 2nd part didn't have the excellent pacing as the first one. Not as good as part 1.

Idea for a story: i honestly really want him to interact with so many others in the cast. i said before that i think he would lose his marbles over chuuya and i've seen others point out that they have some similarities going on (mainly the whole being trapped thing, being smarter than they let on etc) so i would love to see a story of them interacting properly, maybe stuck in a situation where their abilities don't work for some reason (stuck in one of poe's books? 🤔) so they have to work together to get out of it, each one holding himself back from losing it in a different way, and getting to talking about what they care about. how chuuya's loyalty contradicts nikolai's fear of bonds. getting into the feeling of being trapped and talking about why they haven't escaped it yet. etc. i think it could be fun 😌

Unpopular opinion: i. don't like his relationship with fyodor. i like it conceptually for what it COULD be, the idea of him being chained down due to his feelings for another person, and even making it extremely one-sided could've still kept it interesting but. that ain't it. him becoming obsessed after one (1) interaction bc he finally feels seen is a neat idea but it wasn't intense enough nor did it go far enough to feel like a proper obsession to me, him wanting to kill fyodor didn't go far enough imo either (this one i can let slide due to what the story required at that moment tho), it just overall feels extremely underutilized and the arm scene, for example, doesn't feel earned. he himself says they barely interacted. yknow?

It makes sense outside of the universe, as they wanted to show off the funky magic system and the power of a djinn better etc, but, in universe, it makes Hakuei look incredibly bad at the whole "having a djinn" thing. Like I've said, Ryosai ends up beating her very fast, and while in the manga, too, she was a bit of show-offy, at least we could've easily blame it on her conquering the dungeon recently, and just not fully understanding how to use it. She overuses her magoi, because she doesn't know yet how to manage it. Here, though? She comes off as having the experience and skill, and still losing. This is the Full-Body Djinn Equip! It's supposed to be insanely powerful! How do you lose so easily? Where's your Extreme Magic? You can still go with her being that new to this, but it's much easier to assume she's just weak. F.

Raskolnikov: he’s so babygirl, he’s just like me fr. Minus the killing people part and the ubermensch complex he has. I’d argue he’s schizotypal but that’s likely not true. So I headcanon him as such. (If it’s unclear, I am schizotypal myself)

Razumikhin: Undisputed best bisexual representation in literature, my GOAT, love him to death, XOXO. No further comments. Perfect character.

Dunia: [to Svidrigailov] GET A JOB. STAY AWAY FROM HER (I wrote this in the book pages where it was relevant). She’s as smart as Rodia from what I read, though she wasn’t developed a lot as a character I think? I still need to re-read the book later. She should’ve shot the revolver at the guy’s head. Probably didn’t want to end up like her brother, though. Unlikely she’d come out winning from killing a man with connections, as evil as he was.

Pulkeria: Didn’t really find her too interesting, but I think that’s because she wasn’t focused on a lot. Remarkably patient towards Rodia, it was infuriating when Rodia just fucked off and didn’t speak to them (Dunia and Pulkeria) for days. His ungrateful ass. I get this habit, though, since I have it myself. Sometimes people are upsetting to be around, for no reason, might I add.

Svidrigailov: Exceedingly, unabashedly, shamelessly despicable. Hate him with my heart. He seems like a parallel to Rodia, and the book seems to focus on this from Rodia’s own observations. Parallel not in a good way, I’ll clarify, but in a “What if he was completely evil” way. I’ve got 40 pages left to read in this book and I’d like it if within the next 20 he ****** himself. Irredeemable but really interesting at the psychological level. He’s insane, it seems. Or maybe also schizotypal. Either way words cannot describe how much I hate this man.

Porfiry: Not much to say here, he ate Raskolnikov up both times they talked though, gagged him 😭 #embarrassing

Lujin/Luzhin (not sure on how it’s spelt): He’s so laughable. Gets insulted once, subsequently sends word of how it hurt his feewings to get clocked at the psychological level by the brother of the woman he’s going to marry, at his historic age like FOH ☠️. And I was livid when he tried to incriminate Sonia/Sofya (I prefer Sonia tbh) like bro really tried that shit 😂😂😂. He got owned by Rodion every single time he tried to fight back it was so fucking funny. Pathetic ass man. Glad he called off the marriage. Asshole.

Sonia: She’s Rodion’s love interest, it seems. I don’t get why she’s going to go to Siberia with him, though. Her family’s taken care of (by SVIDRIGAILOV of all people) and she hasn’t committed any crimes. Is it just something to do with misogyny or something related to it? She told Rodia to confess to his crime to atone, but in a *catholic* way. It’s crazy she got burdened with the knowledge of Rodia’s crimes and still said “Oh how you suffer! Atone for your sin willingly, it’s your only way to get rid of the guilt!” Her abnegate character showed a bit here, methinks. Still, why the fuck would she go to Siberia? Just because she *loves* Rodia? They both seem like they fell in love with each other for some odd reason, or maybe none at all so yeah. She’s also a favorite because of the way they describe her, the blue eyes seem like something I’d like to draw, when I get to it. Though, it’s curious that it’s Svidrigailov in love with Dunia and Raskolnikov in love with Sonia. Dunia and Sonia get stuck with the two murderous morons. (Well, not Dunia, because she managed to get Svidrigailov to not assault her. Again, DESPICABLE man, that one. Hope he dies :D) 

 Anastasia/Anastasya: I love her so much, I wish we’d gotten to see her interact with Razumikhin more because their dynamic was funny to me. She also laughed with a snort if I recall and that is so real of her. She also helped Rodia with food, basically kept his stupid ass alive for free before Razumikhin came back.

Zamiotov: Not much to say about him, really. Funny when Rodia explained in detail how he ‘would have’ gone about murdering Alyona, though. Fucking hilarious to read that shit. Most obvious criminal of all time.

Marmeladov: God knows how many pages he went on telling Rodia his entire life story. Perfect character. No notes.

Catarina/Sonia’s mother: Very tragic. Her death made me feel sad. But the parts before that when she was just DRAGGING Amelia Lippewechsel, she was so real for that.

Languages - Ever since early Highschool, I adored all languages! I currently only learn German and Spanish, but if I could I would learn French too. My dream is to be at least tri-lingual!!

Maths - I think since I was young I was always good at maths, which I'm very grateful for. I think my favourite type of Maths is probably shapes in triangles or something like that, though algebra in general is fun :)

Lethal Company - I love this little horror game so much! I had a hyperfixation (no longer) to the point I actually made a 67 slide PowerPoint about it... I might have a problem. I like playing it with my friends the most, since I get scared alone really easily!

Republic Commando - Recently got it and I am hyperfixating fr 😭 I love these lil guys so much I sure hope nothing bad happens to them (especially to Scorch and Sev haha) (/s, I know what happens)

My fave character for sure is Scorch :) He's just a silly guy (he has committed several murder-sprees and will continue to do so)

jack blades based asf. love night ranger and damn yankees. as far as kiss….youre gonna hate me for this but i don’t know much about them past the original line up and the only one from the original lineup i would ever even consider being around is ace. seems cool. good guitarist. i actually like a lot of his solo work icl frehley’s comet was fire. rock soldiers is a good one im always on that shit fr.

i don’t know a ton about europe either but i always liked the rock the night video. fun stuff.

Erik’s trojan guitar is iconic. My favourite European thing is the Keyboardist set the Drummer's pubs on fire for a charity event once 💀. Also, the bassist is kind of a war criminal for leaving the military to play bass mid-service, lol. Honestly the KISS thing is fair. Unless your a big fan you probably wouldn't know most of the other guys. I just have preference for kiss in the 80’s. I like Ace from a musician stand point though and his solo stuff is good.
