Rainy Days
A/N: You know, I didn’t think I was gonna write a fic today, but the litle gay gremlin that lives in my brain woke up and chose this I guess!
Warnings: Incredibly mild swearing/descriptions of... “violence” but very cartoon-y sort of violence I don’t know if it really counts, slight caps but its just one word
Pairings: Kam
About: Tam’s Winnowing Gala except he doesn’t wanna be there
Other notes: no beta we die like Kenric, Keefe and Tam are friendly in this one because I felt like it, no they aren’t completely in character but is anything I ever write?
Word count: 966
Tag list (tell me if you want to be added or removed): @cadence-talle @ruewen-and-rising @lemontarto @a-lonely-tatertot @catboyruy @percabetn @sewersewersewercouch @everyonehasthoughts @imaramennoodle @enbies-and-felonies @blxckh0les42 @rainbowtay-11 @callas-starkflower-stew @impostertamsong @appalyneinstitute1 @stars-and-splendor @anna-without-an-e @mistythegenderqueermess @we-have-no-bananas-today @we-wont-dissapear @jadenightthewriter @ketterdamkid
Tam sat on the back porch, staring as the rain pounded down hard from the sky. He heard the door open behind him and turned around to see Keefe standing in the frame.
“So, are you out here because you enjoy getting soaked to the bone or are you mad at someone?”
Tam looked away.
“Bit of both, I guess.”
Tam felt a shift of weight on the porch swing and knew Keefe has sat beside him.
“Well, in that case you better go ahead and tell your bestest friend in the whole wide world why you’re hiding during your own Winnowing Gala.”
“First of all, you aren’t my best friend. Second of all I’m not hiding I’m just...taking a breather.”
The party was being held at some venue, Tam didn’t really know where, Tiergan had booked it for him. The porch was the only place to hide and unfortunately Keefe had found it.
Keefe clucked his tongue disbelievingly.
“C’mon man, it’s your party. Get out there and find some girls! If you’re scared to dance I could demonstrate.”
Here he bumped Tam’s shoulder with his own jokingly. Tam just rolled his eyes.
“Tam, the minute you walk in there everyone’s gonna be swooning over you,” He started doing a crude impression of a girly voice,” ‘Oh Tam! All I want to do is brush out those dreamy bangs of yours and look into those dreamy stormy eyes and dreamy dreamy dreamy! Just marry me now!’ “
Tam rolled his eyes again.
“They all think I’m a freak in there, I’m the weird shadow twin guy with scary powers who sits in the corner and sulks any time he’s with his team.”
“Oh, you’re fine, Sophie’s powers are scarier than yours and she’s found plenty of love interests.”
Tam didn’t say anything and neither did Keefe for a blissful minute. But all good things come to an end.
“It’d be easier to mingle in there if you knew how to dance. I saw you stepping on the toes of the one girl you interacted with, it wasn’t pretty.”
“It’d also be easier to not have a Winnowing Gala at all but here we are.”
Keefe again didn’t say anything for a peaceful minute.
“Tam...why did you have a Winnowing Gala if it seems like you don’t want to be here?”
“Everyone else was having one… I… I don’t know, I guess I thought it’d help me fit in, or something.”
“Eh, fitting in is overrated. I think it’s pretty impossible for anyone in our group to fit in anyway. Kicking the Neverseen’s collective ass kind of makes you stand out.”
Tam did a sort of half-laugh.
“Yeah…”
Tam contemplated for a minute.
“Hey, wanna run back to Tiergan’s and hide there?”
“Please,” Keefe responded immediately.
~*~
After a long -- exhausting -- walk up the stairs, they had reached the main room of Solreef. It was still raining, whatever venue they were at must’ve been closer than he thought. He didn’t like that.
The house was empty as Tiergan, Prentice, and his siblings were all at the party. They’d realized he was missing soon enough, but it probably gave him about an hour before they’d try to find him. A nice break. A well needed one too, considering he was one step away from anxiety attack at the party.
Keefe immediately began raiding the pantry, as he did any time he came to Tam’s house, but halted when he noticed the somber expression on Tam’s face.
“Okay, what’s wrong Bangs Boy? Your energy is…” he made a vague circular gesture with his arm towards Tam, “off.”
Tam sighed as he sat on the couch.
“Why do I have to get matched? Like yeah I know I don’t have to but… I feel like I do, for some reason. I’m already biased against, having a good marriage won’t help, it’ll just drag whoever down to my level.”
Keefe sat down next to him.
“Look… not to get all serious or whatever, and if you tell a single other soul I said this I’ll kill you, but whoever you marry will be damn lucky to have you. And if they think their being dragged down? I do not care if it’s your wife, I’ll punt her into the sun.”
This made Tam laugh fully for the first time that day.
“You mean it?” Tam asked light heartedly, turning towards Keefe.
“Every word,” Keefe replied, looking down at his lap.
There was a beat of silence.
“Hey Keefe?”
“Hm?” He asked, turning back towards Tam.
“I’ll punt your wife into the sun too, if you want.”
Keefe laughed.
“Thank you for the thought, but I don’t really want a wife.”
“Me neither.”
Another silent beat.
Tam didn’t even realize it was happening, but his leg was bouncing, hand sat atop it. He felt Keefe’s hand reach over, as if to remind him to stop fidgeting like Linh always did, instead he grabbed the hand on top of the leg and intertwined their fingers. Tam risked a quick glance up, worried that eye-contact would make Keefe let go. Keefe had his head turned away, but Tam could see the splotchy blush across it.
Tam gripped onto Keefe’s hand slightly harder, before turning completely to Keefe and getting his attention by talking.
“Hey, maybe I could take you up on that dancing offer one day.”
“Well, I’m free today, what about you?” He said with a smirk.
“I suppose I could clear my schedule.”
“Great. Just don’t step on my toes, please.”
“Maybe now I’ll just do it on purpose,” Tam replied as he stood up from the couch.
“You wouldn’t dare, I have so much dirt on you,” Keefe said, following.
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“But my stormy eyes are dreamy, right?”
“Shut UP!”

sincerity is scary (part 1)
nathan mackinnon / reader
3,200+ words (for this part at least)
friends to lovers. this turned out angstier than i originally planned in my head um...
warning for swearing
author’s note: many months ago, i said i was done with writing, then i clowned myself. this is the first time i’m writing an x reader type of fic because i used to write kpop bg pairings so idk how decent this will be lol. anyway, this is a highly personal and self-indulgent fic and something i’ve wanted to write for a very long time. to all my fellow hopeless-romantic tomboys out there waiting for their turn in love, this one goes to you. i said i was content with reading fics because i’m too lazy to write but oh well fucking shit.
Your first memory including Nate was his fourth birthday party. It was a memory that makes you smile come a time that you think about it while spacing out. You remember it vaguely, but all the details don’t even matter. You remember sitting next to him at the big table as he blows his cake. There’s a picture of that somewhere in the photo albums in your parents’ house. You remember being the new kid in the neighbourhood, but you lived next to the MacKinnon’s. Even if Nate had a few friends from nursery, you eventually became his best friend. You were a shout away from him and all the details don’t matter, because until now that you’re both twenty five, you’re still the bestest of friends even if you lived in different American states--him in Colorado and you finally landing your dream job in New York City.
It was a special friendship that had been rock solid for twenty one years. You know he has a lot of people in his life now being the NHL superstar that he is. You know he considers some of the guys and some of his teammates as his best friends as well. All of that did not bother you to say the least. It was okay, because he was meant for great things and you were there to witness him achieve everything he longed and wished for since you were kids. You know you will always have a place in his heart, and him in yours, because that’s what best friends do, right? They’re each other’s biggest support system, away or together.
You were there in all of his home games, you spent almost all of your childhood with him in the rink, he gladly participated in any hobby you had at the time, and most of all, he made sure that if he had free time, it was all yours. You couldn’t ask for a better best friend and neither can he.
Now, as you sit in front of him in a hotel restaurant in the middle of Aspen at his birthday dinner on a trip he insisted you two take before the pre-season starts, you stare at him in part-shock-part-confusion as he lays his heart out on the table with a confession you did not see coming at all: “I guess I’ve been in love with you all this time.”
-
Now, see, you have always been Nate’s tomboy best friend. You were the girl who played hockey with him when you were kids and the girl who skateboarded all throughout middle school. You were the girl no guy has ever looked at like that, because you were different from all the pretty blondes and skinny girls and conventionally female specimen that boys would usually like. It didn’t bother you, not until high school anyway, when you finally crushed on some other guy that wasn’t in yours and Nate’s friend group. It was the biggest infatuation of your life so far, and when you realized he’ll never look at you like how he looks at the girls who wear skirts and tank tops, you gave up on even trying to feel.
“Are you seriously looking at skirts?” You remember Nate asking you one time you were both in the mall and he caught you lingering around skirts. You were both sixteen at the time, and he just got back from his morning hockey practice. You looked down on your usual oversized tee and baggy pants and your favorite pair of tattered Vans and thought, yeah, how can you even choose to wear a skirt willingly? It didn’t offend you or anything, his question was purely out of curiosity and not one of judgment.
You shrugged at him, “Don’t you think it’s about time I dress more girly? I’m turning seventeen soon, and I still haven’t had a boyfriend.”
“I dunno, you dress fine to me.” Nathan said then, and then it hit you--if Nate says you look fine then other people’s opinion shouldn’t even matter. He was your bestest friend, and you trust him because you have to. You should. But he’s still a guy, and you’re a teenage girl who’s becoming more self-conscious as the days go by because that’s how life goes when you’re sixteen and hormonal. You shrug it off, though, because looking pretty was the least of your concerns anyway.
The following year, you get asked out on a date by one of the guys you went to middle school with. He was decent, and you were consistently talking to him and hanging out the past summer. He made you laugh and he became such a charmer since you last met him when you were pre-pubescent kids. It was your first date ever, and a week before you were highly stressing out on what you should wear, on what you should do, because you were seventeen and had no experience being with someone other than, lo and behold, Nathan.
He was away from you now, doing his hockey thing and being great, but phone calls were still consistent between the two of you, and after stressing out for two whole hours trying to rummage the internet for Tips On How To Nail Your First Date, you finally give up and whine to him over the phone.
“Him? You’re going on a date with him? Wasn’t he like...a wimpy kid back then or something?” His voice is tired on the other line. His team lost tonight, and you know he’s frustrated about it, but he doesn’t really talk to you about it because he chooses not to. You’re going to change that soon because you know he’s too hard on himself when he loses. He knows you’re there to listen if he wants to whine, but for some reason he never talks about a loss with you anymore. Not like he used to back when you were younger and you still lived near each other.
“Nathan, be nice.” You rarely call him Nathan because to you he has always been Nate. It means you’re dead serious right now. You mess up your short hair and stare at all the possible clothing options you’ve laid out on your bed. It’s mostly t-shirts, the ones that are close to your actual size, and then you realized you have no jeans that actually fit because all of them are baggy ones.
“Wow, she’s calling me Nathan. Who’s that guy?” He calls from the other line. His speech is turning more slurry, like he’s already falling asleep but trying hard to fight it. “But seriously, why do you need to dress up, anyway? Your clothes are fine.”
“You’re not a girl, you wouldn’t understand.” You tell him in a moment of miniscule irritation--not with him, but with yourself, because it then hits you: you want to impress this guy. You want to appear different for him, because it’s your first ever date, and finally someone’s looking at you and making you feel pretty--like a girl. “Oh my god…” You croak after spacing out, and you jump a bit when you hear Nate through the speaker phone, forgetting that he’s still on the other line.
“What’s wrong?”
“Holy shit. I just realized I’m finally trying to get in touch with my girly side. Seventeen years too late for that.” You snort at how ridiculous you’re being, at how silly this whole situation is because you’ve never tried to change who you were before attraction came in the way. You realized you were turning into a woman without knowing it, and it’s not really bothersome because you are a woman. It’s just something different from what you’re used to growing up even if you were no stranger to it having an older sister who is undeniably more female than you. Nate didn’t have any problem that you have a vagina but can also beat up any guy who picks on you for being such a tomboy. Nate loved it when you played hockey with him even if he beat you every time. He loved watching you skate, cackles when you fall down, but gets concerned as he should when you get scrapes and bruises. He’s fine with what you are--with the way you dress, the way you project yourself to people, the way you’re not just any other girl. You’re his best friend and he loves you just as you are.
You remember that time at the mall last year when you were looking at those skirts, you remember what he told you back then, and then you remember why it doesn’t matter what you wear on a date. If any other people can’t handle you the way that you are then they don’t really have to matter to you, too.
The date approaches and you give up, thinking if this guy talks to you and even ended up asking you out he should accept you as you are, right?
You’re wrong, because three dates in all he ever did was subtly criticize everything you did. He was trying to groom you into the girlfriend you can never be for him, and that appalled you so much and hurt you at the same time. You think he’d be one of the few guys who’ll understand that as much as you want to, you can’t really change who you are for someone else.
Nathan was livid. “Fuck that guy. He’s nuts.” He crackles through one of your nightly phone calls. “He’s ugly, he sounds like a rat, and I bet he smells like--”
“Okay, enough.” You chuckle at his frustration despite feeling down the past few days post ‘break-up’. “It’s okay, really, but I’m not that girl for him.”
“You’re not. You’re like leagues cooler than him, anyway.”
“Damn right I am.”
-
In the following years as he started his NHL career in Colorado, and with you moving to New York for your job, you’ve only seen him a handful of times although the Facetimes were still consistent. The time difference was there, and even if your calls only lasted about ten minutes or so as you both caught up with your lives, it was enough. You didn’t need two hours with him on the phone, because yours and Nate’s friendship was as solid as an asteroid crater on land. It could be two years since you’ve last spoken to one another and when you do see each other again it’s like nothing has changed. You’re grateful for it, because with you having a new life in NYC and him making a home out of Denver, he’s still the one piece of Cole Harbour you have anywhere you go.
You forget about dating as you focus on your job. You love it, and you love living in New York. You’ve made friends that you can already consider as family. You have a great life ahead of you and you know it. You watch Nate’s games when he’s in town. You meet him back home in Canada when you managed to get a week off from work. Life is good and steady. For a while you thought that the happiness you managed to find will last a long time, and it did...until it didn’t. That’s when you realized.
-
Nate gets a girlfriend. Her name is incredibly girly and she’s fucking beautiful.
The Facetimes and phone calls were less now, has been for the last couple of months, really, but that did not bother you at all because they were having a fantastic season and you understand his job comes first.
What hurt you though was how he just dropped the news like a bomb through text. And you two never ever texted. You didn’t even get a scoop that he was seeing someone, never even mentioned anyone when you two manage to sneak in calls in between your busy schedules. It’s on a sad and dull Friday night when you were sulking on your couch because nobody was available to hang out with you to get a drink when the text comes.
‘Guess I have a gf now lol. Her name’s __’ Attached is a picture of her seated across from Nate on what appears to be a restaurant.
You sit up in alarm, your heart beating a mile per second, followed by a heavy ache in your chest. You don’t know what to feel yet you’re feeling everything all at once--surprise, confusion, anger. The happiness is questionable. You sit there for a whole five minutes staring at the very random text when the text bubble appears on the screen.
‘You know it says when you’ve read my message ryt’
You don’t really know and you don’t really care right now. You want to yell at him and demand details, but you’re really confused as to why he’s texting when he usually just calls you. It was eight in the evening when you decided to sleep away the dull ache in your chest and that heavy heart of yours. You turn your phone on silent as you put it inside the drawer of your bedside table.
The following day you wake up at noon. You instinctively reach for your phone on the bedside table when your hands come up with nothing--and then you remember where you put it the previous night. You didn’t dare check it, though, because the moment you wake up you know the ache is still there. You remember those damn texts, you remember everything you’ve felt as you lie in your bed for hours when your mind and body refuses to shut down.
You skip breakfast because you weren’t really hungry, so you do your laundry instead. It leads to you cleaning your bathroom, and then that leads to cleaning your entire apartment, and when you managed to finish it was almost four in the afternoon. You were too tired to cook, so you munch on cereal. You chug several bottles of water after when you realize you haven’t had any the entire day. You take a quick shower. You switched on Netflix on your flatscreen and you managed to finish two movies. You stare blankly on the rolling credits as you feel your mind shut down. You’ve managed to avoid thinking about Nate and his new girlfriend for the entire day, and now that it’s evening again you feel every damn feeling come back. You finally decide to check on your phone.
Fifteen messages and ten phone calls all from Nate. Funny how that turned out. You check some more and there were texts and a few calls from your sister and from a few friends from back home. You check that out first, and you were surprised that they all seem to ask you the same damn thing: You okay? Where are you? Nate texted me saying you weren’t answering your phone.
Ten phone calls left unanswered.
Then you finally get to his messages:
‘Why you leaving me on read?’
‘Heyyyyyy’
‘y/n…..!!!!!!!!!’
‘I’m getting worried wtf’
‘Y u aint answering meeeee’
‘I’ve called five times!!’
‘TEN times!’
‘Are you okay?’
‘Holy shit where the hell are you’
‘Don’t joke with me like this I’m fucking serious answer your phone’
‘Even your sister can’t reach you’
‘What’s happening? Are you at a party and drunk off your ass in some dark alley in nyc?’
‘Jesus i don’t even know your friends there i can’t contact anyone to check on you’
‘Just please call me back asap. I’m fucking worried bc you always have your phone with u’
‘Hope you’re okay’
It’s kinda funny how he stopped trying, because you haven’t been on your phone the entire day as well and there weren’t any follow up texts or calls this day. You don’t know when the bitterness settled in but now you finally know what you feel and you feel bad that you’re feeling that way. Why are you reacting this badly? You don’t even know, but to calm his dramatic ass down you finally reply to him.
‘Sorry lol im sick i’ve been asleep and weak the whole day’
You jump on the call that lights up your screen immediately and you panic while thinking of ways to sound sick.
“Hey…”
“Jesus fucking christ.” Is how he greets you. “I’ve been worried sick the whole day.” You suppress a snort because you don’t know how true that is. “You okay?”
“Not really…” You try to croak. “Got a raging fever.”
“How long? Maybe you should go to the hospital. Don’t you have someone who can drive you?”
“Unlike you, I don’t have someone.” Is what slips out of your mouth before you can even think about it. You gasp at your own display of bitterness because that sounded harsher than you intended. You know he means well, and of course you know that he knows you have many friends in the city. He wasn’t specifically pointing out a boyfriend, but you sure are making things big. Stupid fucking bitterness. Stupid fucking jealousy. You tried to deny it, but when you’re close to crying over your best friend getting a girlfriend that he apparently hid from you, then you know what it really is after all.
His silence is deafening and it’s the first time you’ve ever felt awkward with him and you’re not even together in the same damn place.
As the silence stretches on, you hear a voice in the background call out. “Nate? You coming to bed?”
And you beat him before he can voice out a reply to her, or to you. “I’m fine. I can take care of myself. You should go, I’m hanging up. Catch ya later.”
You don’t ‘catch up’ with him, not for another three days, and even then it’s still through text. Your last phone call had been two weeks prior to his girlfriend revelation. You tell him you’ve recovered from your (fake) fever and that you’ve been busy with work you missed. He tells you about his schedules and games and the new guy who’s recently traded to the Avs. There wasn’t another phone call for weeks to come and it’s weird not hearing his voice for more than a month.
You’ve finally managed to put your jealousy aside as you try to ignore that, yes, you’re probably in love with Nate without you even knowing. Over the weeks that passed you’ve come to a very, very annoying realization that the reason why you don’t and can’t date is because no one will even compare to Nate. You’ve managed to put him on a pedestal when you really shouldn’t have but it’s hard when he’s the best guy you’ve ever known. He’s the only guy who understands you and knows you inside out. He has no judgement for who you are. He was the one you shared your entire life with and no one of the opposite gender will probably solidify himself on you as Nate did. You think life has been okay because it’s you and him against the world even if you’ve been long distance for a long time now. Him not telling you about this girl from the beginning really, really hurt you more than it should, but you will come to realize it’s the wake-up call you badly needed.
You’re fucking in love with Nathan MacKinnon and that scares you.

you’re mine?
pairings: daniel x reader
warnings? swearing, mentions of alcohol, mentions of sex, a lil bit of fighting.
summary: Could you do a soulmate!au with Daniel, the typical ones with the matching tattoos except yours and his ends up being in a spot you can't really see, so they think they're part of the people who won't have soulmates and they just give up on looking. They're best friends who settle for not so great people until one day they accidentally discover they had matching tattoos all along which explains why both of them were secretly in love with each other and hated each others s.o
requested? yes.
notes: sorry this took forever for me to upload to the lovely anon who requested it! also, i sort of made this into a little story and somehow it’s still rubbish oops. sorry!
At eighteen years old, I expected to have found my soulmate - all of my friends had found theirs so why not me? All my friends were over the moon when they discovered they had the same tattoo as someone else, falling instantly in love. But, here I am. Alone. Single. Slightly depressed. Story of my life though, am I right?
“C’mon!” My best friend, Carrie said to me. I was sat on my bed, watching as she tried to persuade me to go to some party. She was failing.
“I don’t want too.” I told her, looking at her as she glared at me, her red hair falling into her face as she slighed angrily. I watched as she carefully placed her hair behind her ear, still glaring at me. If looks could kill, I would be dead for sure.
“And why not, y/n?” She asked. “You like parties. Your best friend, Lisa, is throwing this party. You love her house because of how big it is. You love hanging out with her and me and all our friends. Why could you possibly not want to go?”
I shrugged. “I’m not in the mood to be partying.”
“That’s very unlike you. You better have a valid reason otherwise I’m forcing you to go.”
“Oh I don’t know. Maybe because I’m going to spend all night dancing by myself as you play tonsil hockey with Johnny. There will be boys there who know I’m single and try to talk to me, but I don’t want too.”
“Is this about the soulmate thing?” Carrie scoffed. I rolled my eyes at her, shrugging in response. “You do realise you are not the only eighteen year old who doesn’t know who their soulmate is, right?”
“That’s not the point.”
“Then what is the point?”
“I -“
“You don’t have one.” Carrie said sighing. “Good, so now you don’t have a valid reason to come to this party. Pick an outfit out, get ready and let’s get going.”
I huffed loudly, walking over to my closet. I knew there was going to be no winning this argument with Carrie, she’s the most stubborn person I know. I picked my outfit out deciding on some ripped blue jeans, a black bralet and some tan heels. I didn’t want to be going to this party so I wasn’t necessarily be making an effort with my appearance.
“That’s cute.” Carrie commented as I began curling my hair. I looked at her through my mirror and glared at her. She only smiled at me in response which made me just that slightly bit more angrier. “I don’t know why you’re glaring at me. For all you know, you could meet your soulmate at this party tonight. I’m doing you a favour.”
“I honestly doubt that, but whatever makes you sleep at night.” I replied, beginning to start on my makeup. “Who’s even going tonight that I know?”
“Lisa, obviously because it’s her house. Max, me, Johnny, Cassandra, Lux, Steven, Michael, Mary, Jenny, Jonah, Corbyn, Christina, Jack, Sydnie, Daniel, Anna, Zach, Lewis, Katie... Do I have to continue?”
I nodded my head at her. “And why exactly is Lisa throwing this party?”
“Why not? Her mom and dad are out of town so she’s throwing a party like every cliche teenager in the world.”
“Do I have to go?” I whined, turning around in my chair to face Carrie. “I mean, nobody is exactly going to miss me are they?”
“Oh c’mon.” Carrie groaned. “Stop being so depressed. Enjoy yourself before you find your soulmate. Just think, my mom and dad didn’t find each other until she was twenty-six and he was thirty. Not everything revolves around the one.”
“Well it seems like it with you and Lisa and everyone else finding your soulmates. I don’t want to be third-wheeling all my life.”
“And you won’t be. You’ll find the one soon, I promise.”
I wanted to believe her, I really wanted too but I think I just have to accept the fact that it’s most probably not going to happen. The chances of me finding my soulmate tonight are very slim, so why not flirt with whoever and see where that lands me. I don’t mind being single, but it sucks when majority of people that surround me are all loved up. I just have a huge fear of missing out.
Carrie and I made our way towards Lisa house later that same evening. As we walked up her obnoxiously long driveway, I could see that the party was in full swing. Music loud, peoples chatter and laughter shouting above the music, bright lights that changed colour every few seconds, red solo cups scattering the ground or in people’s hands, the smell of some alcohol which made me gag.
We entered the house and I looked around to see that it was filled with people that I don’t know. How Lisa has this many friends is beyond me. I rolled my eyes as I was shoved slightly by people dancing, sweat almost dripping off every single one of them. I enjoy parties but if someone is too sweaty or too smelly and they come near me? I’m out. I’ll walk my ass home.
“y/n! Carrie!” Lisa yelled over the loud bass music that was thumping. She walked over towards us and I could already tell she was slightly drunk. She pulled Carrie and I into a hug, her soulmate Steven standing behind her. I gave him a small smile which he returned. “You guys look sexy! Drinks are in the kitchen, music is in every room!”
“Thanks, Lisa!” Carrie yelled at her.
I grabbed onto Carrie’s hand as she led us both towards the kitchen. I became a lot less anxious of all the strangers when I saw majority of my friends standing in the kitchen all talking to one another. Immediately Christina spotted me, giving me a small wave. I grabbed a cup of soda, praying that it wasn’t spiked and walked over to her, giving her a small hug.
“You look amazing!” She smiled at me, yelling slightly over the music that was a lot less quieter in this room.
“Me?” I replied. “You look gorgeous as always!” She laughed at my comment and hugged me again. Christina and I had obviously met through the boys, who I met through Anna. The youngest Seavey was one of my bestest friends, we met at a project that was being held in LA and from that moment I’ve made myself an honorary member of the Why Don’t We family.
“y/n!” Anna yelled walking over to me. We both let out a little girly squeal as we hugged, having not seen one another in about a month. She was busy, I was busy and that was that. “I’ve missed you!
“I’ve missed you!” I yelled back. “You look stunning!”
“So do you!” She smiled at me. “Which is good because I’ve heard from a little birdie that Harry Michaels has a fat crush on you!”
“Harry Michaels?” I asked confused. “Isn’t he like two years older than me? How does he even know who I am?”
“Well I heard from Gina that he’s obsessed with your instagram and has being dying to meet you in person. Who knows, he might be the one!”
I snorted. I’ve seen Harry out and about but I’ve never actually met him. He’s hot and way out of my league, there’s no way he’d ever be my soulmate. Anna shrugged her shoulders at me and smiled, I rolled my eyes at her as I went to greet everyone else.
Corbyn welcomed me with a hug as he spoke to Christina, Cassandra and Steven, whom I all gave a hug too. Jonah, Jack, Sydnie and Zach were in the corner of the kitchen talking to one another so I went over to say hi and spoke to them for a little bit, but was interrupted when Max came bursting into the room yelling ‘SHOTS!’.
I rolled my eyes as a few people piled out of the room to watch people taking body shots or something like that, but I stayed in the kitchen now beginning to talk to Lewis and Katie.
“So Harry Michaels, huh?” Katie asked in a suggestive tone. “You two would make the most adorable couple.”
“Would we?” I asked. “I don’t really know much about him.”
“You don’t need too.” Lewis replied. “All you need to know is that when the two of you meet face to face you’ll both have the initials of one another tattooed somewhere on your body.” Once again I snorted, trying hard to believe him but it was just impossible too. Harry was good looking but was he for me?
“Hey.” The one and only Daniel Seavey said walking over to the three of us. My heart skipped a beat but I didn’t think much of it. Sure, I was attracted to him, but we’ve known each other for ages and it’s simply been just friends. No soulmate tattoos, nothing more than two friends joking about, besides I’m best friends with his younger sister.
“Hey.” I smiled at him. We hadn’t seen each other in a while but it doesn’t mean that I don’t stop thinking about him. I sound like I’m in love with him, but I’m not. Just friends.
“How are you?” He asked. “Haven’t seen you in a while.”
“Good, good. Everything’s... good. What about you? How’s the whole band thing going?”
“Good.” He smiled. “We’re flying to Toronto soon to perform at the WeDay movement.”
“Really? That’s incredible.”
“Yeah it is, it’s in a stadium so that’s exciting. Anyway, what were you guys talking about?
“Harry Michaels.” Katie told him. “And how he’s totally in love with y/n.”
“Oh really?” Daniel asked with a small smile. “Soulmates?”
“I don’t know.” I replied. “This is all new information to me.”
“Danny!” Someone yelled, walking into the room. We all turned to see a small blonde girl stumbling towards us as if she was tipsy. “Baby.” Baby? I’m so confused.
“Hey.” Daniel said to her, holding her up. “Um, guys this is Cora.”
“Nice to meet you.” She slurred at Katie, Lewis and I. She tried to stick her hand out to shake ours but could barely keep it still as she laughed quietly to herself. I don’t like the look of her and I don’t like the fact that she called Daniel ‘baby’. “So Danny boy, your sister and I were talking about how I should meet your parents soon.”
“Are you two a thing?” Lewis asked bluntly, so the rest of us had answers and weren’t confused.
Daniel opened his mouth to say something but closed it as he tried to hold Cora up. He sighed before looking back over at us. “She’s - shes my girlfriend.” GIRLFRIEND???????
“Oh.” Katie said. “Since when?”
“Um, like a month.”
“Are you - are you soulmates?” I asked pointing between the two of the them. Cora laughed, loudly and annoyingly at my question.
“Of course we are, silly!”
“Technically, we can’t find the tattoos.” Daniel was quick to defend.
“Tattoos don’t define our love for one another.” Cora replied, placing a sloppy kiss on Daniel’s lips. In that moment I decided I didn’t like her. Her laugh was the most obnoxious thing in the world, she was drunk and I know Daniel isn’t the biggest fan of people who drink and her shorts were so far up her ass I could see everything.
“Well, it was nice meeting you, Cora.” I said as politely as I could. “But I need to find Carrie to make sure she isn’t drunk so we can make it home safely tonight.” I smiled goodbye at Lewis, Katie and Daniel before making my out of the kitchen and towards the living room area where the party was most full. I was looking around to see if I could find my red haired friend anywhere but was met with the eyes of the one and only Harry Michaels who was staring at me from across the room.
I instantly became nervous as I watched him make his way towards me. We’d never met face to face, I don’t know anything about him, what will I say? Would he think I’m weird once he sees me up close and personal? What if he is my soulmate? I’d pass out.
“Hey y/n.” He smiled at me. Oh god we’re actually talking right now. If I wake up tomorrow with his initials tattooed on my body I’ll freak out.
“Uh, hi, Harry.” I replied, confused out of my freaking mind. He bit his lip as he stared down at me, I watched him closely as he turned around to his friends and gave them a thumbs up. He’s not that sly. But he is extremely hot when you’re close to him.
“I was wondering when you were going to show up to this party. You look amazing.”
“T-thanks.” I stuttered.
“Am I making you nervous?” He asked with a cheeky grin.
“Just a little.”
“That’s cute. You’re cute.” OK HE’S SO SMOOTH WOW
I coughed slightly to clear my throat before I began talking to him again. “I hear you’ve been looking for me?”
“Wow, word gets around fast.” He laughed, looking down at the ground all shyly and adorably. I don’t even know if they’re words but we’ll do with what we got sis. “How about I grab you a drink of -?”
“Soda.”
“A drink of soda and we can go and have a chat?” He asked. “I really want to get to know you.”
“O-okay.” I replied. I was so nervous that I was for sure sweating buckets by now. It may be because the house is crowded with people and is already sweaty but this is not really helping my heart rate to stay at a regular beat. I almost died when I felt his smooth - definitely mosturised - hand grab onto my own. He pulled me back towards the kitchen to grab us both drinks and I honestly couldn’t believe that this was real life. We entered the room and I looked around. I made eye contact with Anna who was having her ear talked off by Cora. I snorted when Anna mouthed ‘help me’ to me, but she then gave me a thumbs up and a wink when she saw that I was with Harry. I rolled my eyes but turned that into a smile when he handed me a cup of soda.
“Do you want to go to Lisa’s room?” He asked. Which otherwise is known as the room where babies could possibly be made.
“Uh -“
“Or the backyard? Just somewhere where it is quieter and we could chat.” I nodded my head in agreement, allowing him to hold my hand and take us out to the backyard where we sat on two sun beds. I took a sip of my soda and sighed.
Harry and I ended up talking for hours. He was the most loveliest boy I’ve ever spoke to, he was so invested in learning about my life, asking all the right questions, making me laugh but keeping me interested about his life. It was only until Carrie came looking for me at two am that I realised that I had genuinely spoken to Harry for hours.
“There you are.” Carrie said walking over to us. “Oh, there you are.” She said when she saw Harry sitting next to me.
“Hi, Carrie.” Harry smiled at her. I laughed silently to myself when I saw a small blush form on her cheeks.
“We’re going home, y/n. Sorry to take her away from you, Harry.” Carrie smiled before she grabbed my hand. I stood up and smiled at Harry, having already given him my number.
“Bye, Harry.” I smiled down at him. He stood up and faced me.
“I’ll text you?” He asked as if for confirmation.
I nodded my head. “Yeah. Yeah, that’ll be nice.” Harry smiles brightly and gave me a hug goodbye, and one to Carrie too which made her swoon. The two of us walked away and into the house where everyone else was.
“Where have you been?” Anna asked when she saw me walk into the room.
“She’s been talking to Harry Michaels all night.” Carrie told her for me.
“No way!” Anna said excitedly.
“Harry Michaels?” Christina said running towards me.
“Harey Mic-“ Lisa slurred being held up by Steven.
I looked at all four girls and boy who were staring at me. “It’s nothing. We’ve just been speaking. He’s actually really nice and not what I was expecting at all.”
“Not a fuckboy?” Christina asked.
“No.” I laughed. “Anyway are we going or what?”
“Yes.” Carrie replied.
“No!” Lisa moaned.
“Go to sleep, babes.” I said kissing her on the cheek. “Love you.” Lisa smiled drunkly at me, saying goodbye to Carrie as I hugged and kissed everyone else.
“You going?” Jack asked walking into the room with Sydnie.
“Yeah.” The two siblings gave me a hug goodbye and I was about to walk out the door when Daniel and Cora walked into the room. My eyes rolled before I could stop them as I saw Cora being almost completely knocked out drunk.
“Cassie!” Cora slurred at Carrie.
“It’s Carrie.” She replied.
“Whatever, Cassie. Byeeeeee.”
“Yeah, bye.” Carrie said before hugging Daniel.
Daniel sighed. “I’m sorry.” I nodded my head at him mouthing bye to him before I left the house behind Carrie.
“Who does she think she is calling me Cassie?” Carrie said angrily. “He name is Cora for crying out loud. Cora the cow. God, I don’t like her.”
“I can tell.” I laughed.
Two weeks later and I was sitting in my backyard with Carrie, Katie, Lisa and Anna.
“So how are things going with Harry?” Katie asked when she saw that I was too busy texting on my phone.
I looked up from my phone to see the other girls staring at me from the pool.
“Um, good. It’s good.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. We went on a date a week ago and now we’re going on a second date tomorrow night.”
“Is he your soulmate?” Carrie asked. “Where’s your tattoo?”
I sighed. “I don’t have one.”
“You don’t have one?” Anna asked.
“No.”
“Isn’t it kind of strange that you might end up dating this guy but you not gonna fall in love or be soulmates. You’re only going to end up breaking up.” Lisa said to me from the pool.
“Just because you already know your soulmate doesn’t mean I ever will.” I told her. “Let me live, Lisa.”
“Geez, don’t get so butthurt.” She laughed.
“Look, Harry is a really nice guy and he likes me. I like him. If he asks me to be his girlfriend I’m not going to say no.”
“What about Da-“ Carrie began but I quickly glared at her making her shut up.
“Who?” Katie and Anna asked at the same time. I had no idea what to say considering that Anna was Daniel’s brother, but when Carrie found out I had the smallest crush on him she would never let it go.
“No one!” I said too quickly. I coughed. “No one.”
“So only Harry?” Anna asked. “I mean he’s hot but is he really boyfriend material?”
I looked at her confused. The night of the party she seemed excited when she saw me walking away with Harry but today she wasn’t excited for me.
“He is.” I replied. “He is boyfriend material. I mean he’s not my boyfriend. Yet. But he’s so sweet, I’m already wearing his hoodies, he makes me laugh, he’s respectful, he’s always messaging me asking me how I am. I really like him, girls.”
“That’s cute.” Katie smiled at me. I appreciated it because I was honestly shit scared about what will happen if Harry asked me to be his girlfriend. I still have a crush on Daniel but he’s still dating Cora and he will never see me as anything more than friends. Besides, him and the boys are currently on tour so I’m not going to see him for a while anyways.
“You’ll tell us how it goes, won’t you? Tomorrow on your date?” Carrie asked.
I looked up at her from my daydream. “Yeah. I mean - yeah.”
“You look gorgeous.” Harry said to me as we sat in the diner on our date. I wasn’t dressed up in a fancy dress, just jeans and a tube top and a long cardigan, but I did feel pretty cute.
“Thanks.” I blushed, taking a spoonful of my ice cream. “You’ve said that.”
Harry laughed. “I know. But a girl like you deserves to know that.”
“You’re not too bad yourself.” I replied making him laugh. I’m such a nerd why did I say that?
“So, how did you enjoy this date?” He asked. I looked over at his suggestive look on his face and started to sweat like crazy because I could tell how this conversation was going. Well I hoped it was going the way I was thinking.
“It’s good. I really enjoyed it.”
“Well. I’m glad you enjoyed because I really like you, y/n.”
I nearly choked on my ice cream. “You do?”
“Of course. Do you?”
“I do.” I replied. “Yeah, I do.”
“Well, I’m glad we’ve both established that we like one another. So why don’t we take it further, babe?” OH MY GOD HE CALLED ME BABE.
“Further?”
“Do you want to be my girlfriend, y/n? Because I want to be your boyfriend.”
“I would like that.” I replied. I would like that. Would I love it? I guess not because I’m not in love with him. But I don’t know what love is like so maybe I’ll just fall hard soon.
“So, we’re official?” Harry smiled at me. He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and took a picture of me, which I was very shy about. He posted it on instagram with the caption of “girlfriend” so of course my phone started to blow up with texts.
Three and a half month laters, Harry and I were happy. Not really happy but happy nonetheless. We were at my house getting ready to go and see the boys before a show in LA. They’d finished their North American tour and even went to Europe but now their back. Carrie, Harry and I are going to the show as well as Jack, Daniel and Zach’s families.
“What time does it start?” Harry asked from my bed.
“Seven thirty.” I replied.
“Then how comes you’re getting ready now? It’s only four.”
“Because we always go early so that we can hang out with the boys in the green room.”
“Why are the boys so important?” He asked. “You hang out with them a lot so why do you need to see them before the show?”
“They’re my friends?” I told him, looking at him through my vanity mirror. I could see him rolling his eyes and I sighed. Recently, he had become a little bit more honest, shall we say? He always had an opinion and it sucked a lot to be honest. But I like him.
“Can’t we go a bit later? Go for dinner? The boys won’t miss us not being there early.”
“I haven’t seen them in months since they’ve been on tour and I miss them. Besides, their families are always coming and they’re my friends too.”
“Fine.” He huffed. “You’re driving us then.”
“Carrie’s driving us.” I replied. “C’mon, lighten up. Tonight’s gonna be fun.”
He simply smiled at me and I knew it was a fake smile. I’m the queen of fake smiles, which I’ve done for years due to being a hormonal teenager.
Carrie eventually picked us up and we arrived at the venue shortly after. Harry immediately grabbed my hand as we walked backstage and towards the green room. We entered the room to see it was packed with the boys and some family members.
“y/n!” Reese, Zach’s younger sister, said running over to me. I let go of Harry’s hand and picked her up, giving her a hug. “I’ve missed you.”
“I’ve missed you!” I replied. I looked around the room and greeted everyone else. I stopped when I saw Daniel sitting on the couch with Cora in his lap, the two of them with one headphone in each looking at Daniel’s phone.
“y/n!” Daniel said surprised looking up at me.
I gave him a small smile. “Hi.”
“Oh my God! y/n! From the party, right?” Cora said smiling at me. I’m surprised she’s not hammered. She stood up and gave me a hug, taking me by surprise.
“Cora, right?” I asked trying to be polite.
She laughed loudly in my ear. “Yeah! I’m surprised you remember me! Who’s this?”
“Oh.” I said turning my head to see her staring at Harry. Did she just bite her lip suggestively? “This is my boyfriend, Harry.”
“B-boyfriend?” Daniel asked confused.
“Hiya, Dan.” Harry said shaking his hand. “Nice seeing you again.”
“Yeah, you too.” Daniel replied. “Um, this is my girlfriend, Cora.”
“Hi, I’m Harry.” He said shaking her hand.
Once again, her annoying laugh filled my ears. “Nice to meet you.”
“Hey, Daniel, we need to get ready.” Jonah said walking towards us.
“Good luck boys.” I said watching as the two of them walked off. Anna immediately walked over to Cora, Harry and I straight after.
“Ready to go to our seats?” Anna asked.
“Can I sit next to you, Anna?” Cora asked before she turned to Harry and I. “We’ve become really close since Danny and I started dating. We’re practically sisters.”
I looked over to Anna to see her fake a smile, she grinned at me behind Cora’s back before we all began walking towards our seats.
As soon as we made our way out, the crowd began screaming at Anna, waving at her. I was surprised to see some of the crowd even calling Cora. I took my seat next to Anna, Cora on the other side of her and Harry next to me. Reese came over and decided she wanted to sit on my lap.
The boys eventually came on stage and the crowd went wild. Anna, Cora and I were screaming our heads off, putting videos of the boys and ourselves up on our snapchat and instagram stories.
I was singing and dancing like there was no tomorrow, but I felt disappointed when I saw Harry sitting on his phone.
“Get up and dance with me.” I said to him, grabbing his hand.
He sighed, placing his phone in his pocket before standing up with me. I began singing the boys were singing and could see Harry glancing at me.
“How do you know the lyrics?” He asked.
“Um, they’re my friends songs?” I replied. “Of course I’m going to know their lyrics.” He shrugged his shoulders at me and stood up for the whole concert but barely moved or cracked a smile.
The boys eventually finished and we all went backstage to find them already in the room, buzzing from all the adrenaline of performing on stage.
“Enjoy it?” Corbyn asked walking over to me. He was a little bit sweaty but it wasn’t something I couldn’t handle. I gave him a hug and nodded my head.
“Of course.” I replied. “I always have fun.”
“Good. I just saw your stories, you seem to be our biggest fan.”
I laughed. “Of course I am.”
I kept talking to Corbyn when I heard Cora’s laugh. Honestly, it’s like something that pierces my soul. I looked over to see her laughing at something Harry had said. So now he can crack a smile?
“She’s so annoying.” Anna said walking over to me. I laughed as she stared at Cora. “Don’t get me wrong, I love that Daniel is happy... ish. But I don’t see what he sees in her. She’s stunning but annoying.”
“I don’t know what he sees in her either but if he’s happy then we should be happy.” I replied. What I said may have been bullshit, it’s easier said than done.
“Hey!” Jack said opening the door to the Compound a week later from the concert. Harry and I had just arrived to the house for a pool day with the boys and a few other people, the boys had a day off and it’s nice weather in LA so of course we had to have a pool day.
“Already been in the pool?” I asked seeing him already a little bit wet.
“Yeah, everyone’s outside so get into your swim stuff and come join us.” He smiled, letting Harry and I into the house.
“Remember we’re leaving in two hours so we can go over to mine to see my parents.” Harry said as we dropped our stuff off in the living room and began to take off our clothes with our swim stuff underneath.
“Okay, Harry.” I sighed. “You’ve reminded me at least one hundred times today. Let’s just enjoy today, please?”
He sighed. “Fine.” I gave him a small smile before walking outside to greet everyone else. It was Corbyn, Christina, Daniel, Cora, Anna, Jack, Sydnie, Gabbie, Jonah, Tatum, Zach, Harry and I. I greeted everyone with a warm smile, even Cora who seemed sort of happy to see me.
“Come in the pool!” Sydnie and Gabbie yelled at me. I laughed and jumped in, feeling the cold water rush over my body.
“Christ it’s cold!” I yelled when I resurfaced. Everyone laughed at my reaction.
“It’s not that cold!” Zach yelled at me from a sunbed.
“You’re not even in the pool!” I yelled in response. He smiled at me sarcastically, which is that even possible? I looked over to see Jonah running to jump in as well as Tatum. I screamed when they cannon-balled and nearly drowned me. I was having so much fun and I’d barely been here at all.
“I like your bikini.” Cora said coming into the pool. I was shocked by her compliment until she started talking again. “Looks a bit tight though, doesn’t it? What’s the size?”
I was taken a back, did she practically, indirectly call me fat?
“Um, I don’t know.” I replied. “Can’t remember the size.”
She sighed. “Well it still looks good anyway.” I guess she’s lying.
Harry and I had been at the compound for a little over an hour and I had spoken to everyone except Daniel. For some reason, every time we tried to speak to one another Cora was always there and due to her snide comment earlier I decided I didn’t want to be anywhere near her.
Anna and I were having a conversation in the pool minding our own business when Harry decided it would be fun to run and jump into the pool practically landing on me. Correction, completely landing me and forcing me underwater. I hit the bottom of the pool, and felt a pain in my left ear, rising to the surface I coughed and spluttered from all the water in my lungs.
“Are you alright?” Anna asked.
Harry laughed. “Oh babe, I’m so sorry.”
“I’ve got some water in my ear.” I replied to Anna, completely ignoring my idiot of a boyfriend.
“Um have you seen your back?” I heard him say, I turned around to face him confused and heard Anna gasp, making me turn back around.
“What?” I asked.
“It’s a little bit grazed from where you hit the bottom of the pool.” She replied. “Here, let’s clean you up.” We both swam to the shallow end and climbed out of the pool, making our way inside and to the kitchen where Anna could clean up my back.
“God, he’s such an idiot.” I groaned as I grabbed some tissue and handed it to Anna to wet.
“He’s your age, right?”
“Yeah, he’s eighteen. But he acts twelve sometimes, I swear.”
“That sucks - hang on a sec this won’t hurt - he does seem a bit immature?”
“A bit?” I asked before sucking in my teeth from where Anna pressed to hard on my back.
“Here let me look at your ear.” She said, I stood up properly and let her inspect my ear, not knowing why because I doubt she can’t do anything about the water in it. “What’s that?” She asked, rubbing behind me ear.
“What’s what?” I asked, confused.
She gasped. “Oh my God. Oh my God!”
“What? What’s ‘oh my god’, Anna?”
“You have a tattoo?”
“What? No I don’t.”
“Yes you do! It’s initials! You’ve met your soulmate.”
“Oh my God!” Zach said from the corner. He walked over and immediately inspected behind my ear. “Oh my God!”
“Can everyone please stop saying Oh my God?” I asked turning around to face Anna and Zach. They both stared at me in shock, then one another. I was even more confused when Zach practically ran out of the room.
“What- what’re you doing?” Daniel said walking into the room being dragged by Zach. They came up behind me and inspected behind my ear again.
I heard someone suck in a breath. “You’re mine?” Daniel asked quietly.
“I’m - what?” I asked turning around to face the three of them. They all looked shocked, Daniel more than the others.
“You’re mine. You’re my soulmate.” He said quietly again. “DJS are my initials. Daniel James Seavey. They’re tattooed behind your ear. I found my tattoo the other day but couldn’t figure it out because I have no idea what your middle name is. But your initials, (insert your initials here), they’re behind my ear.”
“Oh my God.” I said leaning back on the table. This information was hard to take in, I couldn’t breathe. It was like the whole world was caving in on me. My soulmate is Daniel?
“Now look who’s saying it.” Zach mumbled. I would’ve rolled my eyes but I clearly had other priorities.
“You’re my soulmate.” Daniel smiled.
“What?” Someone practically yelled, making jump from surprise. We all turned around to find Cora staring at us.
“Oh no.” Zach mumbled.
“This won’t end well.” Anna mumbled.
“Cora -“ Daniel began but was interrupted.
“You’re soulmates with her?” She asked, quite angrily.
“I cant breathe.” I mumbled.
Cora continued. “You’re soulmates with her? She’s a skank! I’m so much better than her! What could you love about her that you can’t about me? We’re perfect for each other! She’s-she’s a skank!”
“Cora!” Daniel yelled as I just stood there, a bit numb and unable to move. I heard her scream before she ran back outside. All five of us left in the kitchen followed her.
“They’re soulmates, Harry!” Cora yelled. “You’re pathetic excuse of a girlfriend is my boyfriends soulmate!”
“What?” Harry asked turning to look at me. By the look on his face I could tell he was angry.
“They’ve been soulmates since the day they met, they’ve been playing us!” Cora continued.
“They only found out today!” Anna argued. Oh my word, I’m soulmates with my best friends brother.
“Are you kidding me?” Harry said walking over to me. “I wasted months of my life on you?”
“Wasted?” I asked quietly. That hurt a little bit and I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel like crying right now.
“Oh please, y/n.” He scoffed. “You really think I wanted to date you? God, my friends and I just wanted to see who could have sex with you first and we had a bet that I would. You really think I like your personality? You’re annoying, all I liked about you was your body and yet you were so much of a prude that you couldn’t even give me that.”
“I was a bet?” I asked, my voice breaking as I tried to compose myself.
“That’s messed up.” Daniel said angrily. “You’re a dick.” I was surprised hearing that sort of language coming from his mouth.
“Oh please.” Harry scoffed again. “Don’t try and be the knight in shiny armour. You’re nothing compared to me all you have now are my sloppy seconds. She’s a prude, bro, she isn’t gonna give you shit.”
“Don’t talk about her like that.”
“Or what?” Harry asked getting into Daniel’s face. “Yeah that’s right. Nothing.” He said before shoving Daniel. He stumbled backwards but managed to regain his posture. He looked angry and I gasped when I saw him punch Harry in the face, sending him straight to the floor.
“Woah!” Jonah said running over when he saw Harry get up and attempt to swing at Daniel. He had managed to place himself in between the two and was holding Harry back. “I think you should leave.”
“Gladly!” Harry replied. “I never liked any of you lot anyway! Except you!” He pointed to Cora who only smirked like she knew it was coming. He turned around to face me. “We’re over incase you couldn’t tell. I’ll tell my mates how much of a prude you are.”
“Get out!” Jonah yelled shoving him towards the front door.
“I really liked you.” Cora sighed at Daniel before she ran away.
“Cora, wait!” Daniel yelled before chasing after her. Um, excuse me but why is he chasing her? I should be the only person he cares about. I sound jealous, I should stop.
“I’m so confused.” Christina sighed as everyone stood and stared at me.
I nodded my head at her. “Me too.”
Later on in that evening, I was sat on my bed still trying to rap my head around everything. I left the compound soon after Daniel and Cora ran out and had been sat at home all day. I had barely eaten and I had barely been on my phone, it’s like I was a walking zombie.
It was now ten thirty in the evening and I decided that I needed to go on a run. I dressed in some sports leggings, a hoodie and my trainers. Pulling my hair up into a ponytail, I grabbed my phone and started listening to my music as I left my house and began my jog/run/clearing of mind.
I had no idea where my feet were taking me, which is why I ended up at the front of the Seavey apartment. All the boys and their families lived in the apartment complex so I was familiar with it. I was questioning myself but for some reason I knocked on the door.
“Crap!” I whispered to myself about to walk away when Anna answered the door.
“y/n? Hey.” She said smiling at me.
“Is Daniel in? I asked getting to the chase. She nodded her head and called someone over and sure enough Daniel was facing me.
“y/n.” He breathed out.
“I think we need to talk. We should talk. Can we talk?” I said quickly, getting flustered.
“Yeah.” He said, he slipped on his trainers and walked out, closing the door behind him. We both walked in silence towards the communal pool, taking a seat on one of the double sunbeds. “So.”
“So.” I sighed. I realised that I needed to pluck up the courage and talk to him.
“Okay, I’m going to come out and say it. I’ve liked you since I’ve met you, Daniel. I’ve really liked you but I’ve always pushed the feeling aside because you always acted like we were just friends - which we were... are? I’m best friends with your sister, I’m best friends with the boys. I thought we were just friends and I never wanted to admit that I liked you because I never found a tattoo and I don’t know, okay? I’m rambling. But all I’m saying is I really like you, and I hate myself for dating Harry when I knew that I had feeling for you but I tried pushing them away, I really did.”
“I’ve always liked you too.” Daniel smiled at me. “God, y/n, I’ve always liked you. But I was nervous because I never found the tattoo because for some reason they’re in a stupid place and are ridiculously tiny. But I’ve always liked you. I didn’t want to say anything because you’re best friends with Anna and I thought if I admitted it you’d think I’d be weird and Anna would hate me. I only dated Cora for selfish reasons, to try and get over you. I regret that. I really hurt her and I didn’t mean too, but seeing you with Harry hurt me even more. I always thought it should’ve been me by your side. Not him. I never liked him. He was just a huge dick and I always knew something was wrong about him. I wished I would’ve punched him sooner.”
I snorted, overwhelmed with emotions. “I hated Cora. I thought she was snuck up, annoying, had the worlds most obnoxious laugh, she always looked at me like I was shit and she practically called me fat today. If I could’ve punched her, I would’ve.”
“Do you think the reason why we hated each other’s partners is because we were jealous?” Daniel asked, showing off his beautiful smile. His eyes were glittering and I just couldn’t believe that he was mine.
“Of course.” I smiled back at him.
“Come here.” He said and in one swift move he had grabbed my left leg and lifted me onto his lap, making me straddle him. I blushed, placing my hand on his shoulders as we both grinned at one another like creeps.
He placed a hand on my cheek, taking in every inch of my face. “You’re so gorgeous.” He mumbled.
“Thanks.” I blushed. We both stared at one another before our gaze moved to each other’s lips. Soon enough we were leaning into one another and our lips met. It was everything I was waiting for, the two of us kissing. It sounds so cliché but I truly felt sparks when we kissed.
We both pulled away, a bit out of breath and resting our foreheads on one another. “I love you.” Daniel said, making me pull away in surprise. I stared at him confused. “What?” I asked, kind of giddy.
“y/n, I don’t need a tattoo - I’ve never needed a tattoo to know that I’m in love with you.”
I blushed. “You’re insane, Daniel James Seavey. But so am I, because I love you.”
“Wait until I tell my mom.”
“Why?” I asked.
“From the moment we met, she had mothers intuition and thought we would be each other’s soulmates. She never liked Cora so when she finds out we are soulmates, she’ll be over the moon to have you as a daughter in law.”
“Daughter in law?” I asked. “We’re not getting married. Not yet, anyway.”
“You know what I mean.” He laughed. We both smiled at one another and I honestly had never felt this way about someone before, I’ve just always been in denial.
We kissed again and I melted. I’m so in love.

↬a/n: double update tonight! hopefully it’ll make up for the short chapters. so this chapter is a flashback and it’s the summer after their kindergarten year. and yes i know, no sane parent would send their six year old child to a sleep away camp but we’re gonna pretend okay. as usual, thank you for reading and let me know what you think!
❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀
“i don’t wanna go!” you looked up and over at the boy who was struggling with his mom over going into the camp. you frowned and cocked your head to the side. why was he so upset? summer camp is fun! you reached up and tugged on a counselor’s shirt and asked if you could go over there, getting a nod in return. you waddled over to the boy, tapping him on the shoulder gently. he turned around, his lip in a pout and his eyes watery and red.
“hi, my name is y/n!” you smiled, a tooth in the front missing, but not making your grin any duller, “what’s yours?”
“j-jeonghan,” the boy stuttered, looking up at his mom, who gave him an encouraging look, prompting him to talk to you.
“well, jeonghan, today is the first day of summer camp, which is SUPER fun,” you told him, still beaming, “come play with me, i have transformers toys. girls at school say transformers are for boys, but i still have them because they’re fun. i also have cars and a barbie doll too!” jeonghan began to smile, looking up at his mom again, who nodded and smiled. you reached out and took his hand, pulling him over to your bag, “mommy said i have to bring two bags, one she packed and one i packed. i packed the fun one, with all the toys, and mommy packed all my boring clothes.” you jabbered on, handing jeonghan a car and your barbie while you played with your transformer toy. the two of you played for about an hour, jeonghan getting much more comfortable and talkative until he gasped, dropping the car he was holding.
“i forgot! my friends seungcheol and joshia are gonna be here! i don’t know where they are,” he shouted, causing you to shoot up.
“we have to find seungcheol and joshia! if we don’t, they can’t play with my transformer toys with us!” you yelled. the two of you held onto each others’ hands and ran around camp screaming their names. soon, you found two boys talking to each other near the fireplace in the mess hall, one of them with a blue backpack and the other with a dark backpack and skull t-shirt.
“that’s them!” jeonghan pointed to the two boys, running at them and tackling them in a hug, “y/n, these are my friends joshia and seungcheol! joshia and seungcheol, this is my new friend y/n.” you waved energetically and smiled at them so hard, your face started to hurt.
“jeonghan, my name is pronounced joshua, not joshia,” the boy with the blue backpack explained.
“shut up, joshia.”
“hey! my mom said shut up is a bad word.”
“but shut up is two words,” you piped up looking back and forth between the three boys. seungcheol stepped forward and examined you closely.
“she’s a girl. why do you think she’s cool enough to be friends with us? girls aren’t cool.” you gasped and put your hand over your heart dramatically.
“i am cool! look, i’ll show you.” you reached into your backpack and pulled out your favorite object in the entire world. jeonghan went to stand beside you as the other boys’ jaws dropped.
“see, seungcheol, she has transformers toys, so she’s super cool.”
“can i play with it?” joshua asked, smiling sweetly at you. you grinned and nodded, motioning for all of them to sit down as you brought out all your toys.
“she has a barbie! that’s too girly,” seungcheol said, crossing his arms. you frowned and hit him in the shoulder with the doll, causing him to flinch.
“barbie is awesome! she can ride in cars and hang out with transformers. she’s badass. i heard that word on a tv show.” you grinned proudly, holding up your barbie doll. all three boys looked at it in amazement before repeating the new word they learned.
“badass.” you all four laughed together and continued to play for the rest of the afternoon.
❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀
that night, you were all sitting on a log at the campfire, you next to jeonghan, who was next to seungcheol, who was next to joshua. the three of you ate s’mores and told each other your favorite colors and animals, so now you were total experts on the other ones. at one point, you gasped and your head shot up, making the boys look over at you.
“i have an idea! all of us should be in a cabin together, then we can play transformers all night!” the other three cheered and jumped up with you to go find a counselor and tell them you were rooming together. you finally found one on the other side of the campfire, who’s name tag said ‘taeyeon’. she looked down at you and smiled, asking what you needed.
“all four of us want to be in a cabin together! i’m jeonghan, that’s seungcheol and joshia, and this one is y/n!” jeonghan exclaimed, hopping on the balls of his feet. you nodded, smiling up at her. her face dropped and she gave you an apologetic look.
“listen, i’m sorry guys, the three of you can room together, but y/n, since you’re a girl, the camp has rules that you have to be in a cabin with other girls, but i’ll take you to your cabin and you can meet the two other girls who are already there, is that okay?” you nodded sadly and held onto taeyeon’s hand when she offered it, waving goodbye to the boys and walking away with the counselor.
a few minutes later, you arrived at a cabin with a sign above the door that said ‘wind flower’. taeyeon opened the door and led you inside, where two girls were on one of the beds, one braiding the other’s very long dark brown hair.
“solar, moonbyul! this is y/n, she’s going to be staying here with you two,” taeyeon told the girls, motioning to you.
“hi, y/n, i’m solar.” the girl with the long hair waved and smiled, her dimples on full display.
“i’m moonbyul,” the other girl said, showing off where she was missing a tooth on her front teeth, looking similar to yours.
“hey! we both have missing teeth,” you said, pointing to your mouth and grinning. the two of you giggled and you climbed up on the bed with them, “do you guys like transformers?” solar’s eyes lit up and she nodded enthusiastically.
“i love transformers! but my mommy never gets them for me since she says they’re for boys.”
“of course not! transformers are super cool and they’re for everyone,” you said, pulling your toy out of your bag. solar squealed and exchanged looks with moonbyul.
“can we play with it?” moonbyul asked.
“of course you can, we’re friends now, so we’ve got to share our toys!”
“we’re gonna be the three coolest girls here!”
“yeah! we’re badass!”
“y/n, what did you just say?” you giggled and turned to taeyeon, who you forgot was still there, shrugging and bringing your finger to your lips to make a ‘shh’ motion. taeyeon rolled her eyes and laughed, brushing it off this once.
you still knew you were pretty badass.
❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀
“y/n!” you were tackled into a hug by a boy wearing a pink shirt, who you recognized to be jeonghan after he pulled away. it was the next morning and you had gone back to the mess hall for breakfast, “i missed you so much last night. and not just because we didn’t get to play transformers. you’re my favorite person now and you can’t leave again, ok?”
“i pinky promise i won’t leave again.”
“no! we need more than pinky promise, we need… we need a elbow promise!” he reached over and hooked his arm with yours, linking your elbows together.
“i elbow promise i’ll never leave you again, yoon jeonghan!”
“i elbow promise too!” he leaned in and wrapped his small arms around you, crushing you in a hug. you wrapped your arms around him as well, squeezing back tightly.
“you’re my bestest friend forever now, hannie.”

One Way Ticket
Chapter 1: The Adventure Begins
Jass
The sun, the sand, the sea. The way the ocean spray kissed my skin. Everything was perfect. Even the way the sun beat down on my forehead, burning the surface - felt…good. In the distance, I saw Sasha and his friends horsing around in the sand. I was always amazed that those boys didn’t kill each other. Leah - the geek in my math class - was sketching the waves as they crashed on the beach. Her boyfriend Joe lay not too far from her, trying to tan his pale skin. Natalia and Ivy were rubbing on suntan lotion. Nothing could make this moment any better…
“Jass …” I felt something jabbing my side. My head began to float, as if in a pool of water.
“Psst! Jass!” As the jabbing persisted, the blur cleared.
The heat and sand of the beach were quickly replaced by my cold hard desk, the sun by hideous fluorescent lights.
“Jass!”
“What?!” I snapped as I sat up.
I looked around to see the entire class staring in my direction, Miss Anderson tapping her foot impatiently.
“Sorry.” Ivy mouthed as she diverted her gaze.
Ivy
“Jass …” I jabbed her in the side with my pencil.
She had fallen asleep in class again and Miss Anderson had promised that the next kid to fall asleep in her math class would be sent to the office, ‘no ifs ands or buts’.
“Psst, Jass!” I don’t know what she was always doing at night that made her so tired in the mornings.
“Jass!” I said a little louder.
“What?!” She screamed, her head snapping off of the desk.
That got Miss Anderson’s attention, as well as the rest of the class’. Jass shot an angry look in my direction.
“Sorry.” I mouthed as Miss Anderson came over.
“How dare you two interrupt my class?” She said tapping her foot.
I began to giggle, she reminded me of Josh Peck from Drake and Josh. That woman really needed to shave.
“Well, uh…” Jass began, sleep still all over her face.
A knock on the door saved us.
“Miss Anderson, there’s someone at the door.” A redhead girl in the back of the class said, not even bothering to look up from her cell phone.
The whole class turned to see who the visitor was.
Ugh! Just my luck, Sasha. Why does my brother always have to …be so Sasha?!
“He’s your twin!” Mama says.
“You were meant to always be together and love each other,” Papa says.
I rolled my eyes, to mama and papa’s dismay.
“Hi Miss Anderson, would you mind if I borrowed my sister for just a second?” Always the charmer… even to women three times his age.
I hated the way all of the girls in our class drooled over him and envied me as I got up to go to the door. What did they think I was going to do? Make out with him? Incest, the game the whole family can play.
He shut the door behind me as I stepped into the hallway.
“What now?” I asked.
“Cuba.” He said, flashing one of his perfect smiles. He disgusted me.
“What?”
“Cuba. Mama and Papa just texted me saying that they have discounted tickets for Cuba.”
“Keep talking’.” I liked where this was going. Good old parents. Being the Russian Ambassador’s son had its advantages.
“They can get as many as we need. I figure we all go to Cuba for spring break.”
“Remind me to thank them,” I said grinning from ear to ear.
“Get back to class.” He said walking away. “Oh, by the way, I’m driving the Porsche tonight.”
Oh Sasha, never able to let me forget why I hate him so much. I flipped him the bird before heading back.
Sasha
Why do I have a twin? I guess someone decided that I was so gorgeous that there needed to be two of me. Only they screwed up, and we got Ivanna. I crack myself up.
“Excuse me, young man,” Oh no, V.P Callaghan. “Shouldn’t you be in class?”
“I'm so sorry Mrs Callaghan. I was taking a call from my father. I promise I’ll get back right away.” I flashed her one of my signature smiles.
“Oh, alright then Mr Shostakovich, just hurry along.”
Too easy. As soon as the V.P turned the corner, I walked down the rest of the hallway and out of the building to my Harley.
Too Easy.
Natalia
Why did I ever sign up to take calculus?! I’ve always been bad at math, and it does not get easier at the grade 12 level. It won’t be that bad I told myself you may even enjoy it. Yea right! This blows harder than Ivy at prom.
The door opened, and suddenly I was given a reason why this course was worthwhile Sasha Shostakovich. Everything about him was larger than life gorgeous; his pearly white smile, his pale blue eyes, his chestnut brown hair, even the slight bulge that lay behind his zipper seemed perfect.
“Miss Jennings!” My teacher Mr Melcovitch brought me out of Sasha’s pants and back to reality. “Could you please tell the class the answer to the question on the board?”
“I’ll try…” Giggles erupted around me and I slunk down a little in my chair.
“Alrighty then, if a train leaves station A at x o’clock and a train leaves station B at y o’clock and the two trains are….” Eventually, the question just began to sound like mindless jabber. My eyes slowly shifted back to Sasha and the flawless back of his head.
I was never going to pass calculus if the only thing I was calculating was the slope of Sasha’s ass.
Sterling
I sat in calculus, desperately trying not to fall asleep. Sasha and I decided it would be fun to go partying the night before our last day of school… some plan that was. I guess I’m not the only one falling asleep in this pathetic class because Mr M decided to ‘engage us’. His victim? Miss Natalia Jennings.
No offence to Natalia, but she comes off as being your typical, happy go lucky, dumbass cheerleader who will probably sleep her way into University. I’m surprised she hasn’t dropped out of the class. Then again, getting to watch her walk into class after she’s bought another low-cut tank top is a definite perk.
Sasha and I turned to face her. He nudged me as the look on her face quickly changed from la-la land to real land.
Luckily for “Jugs Jennings”, the bell rang and I gaped as she and her “little” friends bounce out of the classroom.
“Stop drooling, I have news for you.” Sasha teased, snapping his fingers in front of my face.
“What?”
“Cuba. Spring Break. You, me and as many skirts as we want.” He said naughtily.
This was why Sasha was my best friend.
Leah
The second I left the classroom, I began to scan the hallway for Joe, my boyfriend. He stood, faithfully at my locker, waiting for me to get out of class.
“Hey, Hun,” I said, striding over and giving him a hello kiss.
“Hey babe, how are you doing?”
“Pretty good. Class sucked though.”
“Aww, poor thing.”
Just as he was going in for another kiss, I felt myself being lifted off the ground. I could hear Sasha and Sterling’s Neanderthal-like laughter.
“Do you mind?!” Joe yelled as Sterling tossed me over his shoulder.
Poor Joe, his heart was in the right place, but his mind never was. My friends Sterling and Sasha were at least 3 heads taller than him and could easily take him down in a second.
“Sorry, were we interrupting?” Sterling giggled.
“Shut up Sterling! You know you’re just jealous!” I said as he put me down.
“Of who? You or Joe? Oh, Leah! I just want you so bad! Oh, yeah right there!” He teased as he and Sasha pelvic thrust at me.
“Cut it out!” Now Joe was pissed. He shoved Sterling in his chest. It didn’t move him very far, but it was enough to change his mood.
“Joe! It’s okay, they’re just kidding.” I jumped in.
“Yea Joeybear, Sterling and I were just having some fun with our bestest buddy Leah,” Sasha said, flashing one of his signature smiles.
I swear if I hadn’t known him for most of my life, I’d seriously consider jumping his bones.
“I just don’t like it,” Joe said, pouting.
“Come on Joe, let’s go,” I said taking his hand and leading him back to my locker. Sterling and Sasha decided to follow.
“Anyways, I have big news about spring break.” Sasha began. His dad had probably bought him some sort of private jet or something. He was always getting things like that, spoiled brat, it’s why we still loved him. “How do you guys feel about spending spring break in a five-star resort in Cuba?”
I almost lost my balance. CUBA?!?! Wow!
“YES!” I said before I could even think about it. “Can Joe come too?”
“Would I have brought it up in front of him if he wasn’t invited?”
“Yes,” Sterling interjected.
“Well… this time, no. Joe
is invited, you’re invited and so is Sterling. Naturally, Ivy will be coming with some of her friends, but we won’t let that dampen our spirits.”
Ugh! Ivy and her preppy, girlie girl, skank friends will be coming with us. Those girls ooze popularity, and not even the kind that I look up to, it’s the kind that makes me want to gag. But whatever, if the price for spending an all-expenses-paid two weeks in Cuba was spending it with Ivy and her “mini-me” squad, so be it.
