so on the subject of the "Crowley is secretly Revaan/Laverne/Levin/please Twst give us his name" theory, I think my feelings are best summed up as "I don't really buy it, but it's funny". like, in all seriousness, I'm not opposed to it; I have enjoyed the writing in Twst so far and I'm willing to trust that whatever happens will, you know, make sense and not be terrible. but I'm just not really convinced by the current evidence! maybe that'll change once we learn more, we'll see!

with that said, may I propose a few alternate theories about the possible Crowley/Revaan connection:

yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.

to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!

i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.

also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.

they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.

they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.

i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.

They walk towards the collection of houses, and as they see people pass they may not know who they are but they can figure out the shape of them. That one old and grizzled, the veteran fisher, and that one all gangly with youth, the trainee. There's a cheerful one, chatty and brimming with more energy than the walk requires. A strong-and-silent one, steady at their side. Next a parent, surrounded by three children: the adventurous one up ahead, the shy one hanging onto skirts behind, the young one still held in arms. They pass someone and pause to chat, the friendly neighbor.

Many of them pause to chat, in fact, but none with ... the stranger. They must be a stranger. Faces look at them not with recognition, but with curiosity, wary concern. They hiss questions to each other, but when one dares to approach the object of conversation and ask, their incomprehensible speech trails off at the lack of answer, and they retreat back to their companions.

The stranger does not know their own name, nothing real or specific, but they can see the shape of who they are. The loner. The mysterious one. The traveler from afar.

- Eve the original woman is a villain who wants to break up Lucifer’s relationship with his wife to get back at being blamed for taking the apple, so she disguises herself as Lilith and somehow Charlie and Lucifer don’t know this apparently.

- Alastor is no longer an interesting character with mysterious motives that are twisted/morally grey, but is just a good guy who all along was working with the real Lilith to protect Charlie

- Rosie is Lilith in disguise for some reason

- The big bad other than Eve is the “Root of all evil”- aka “Roo”, who looks like some random cowgirl

This is it.

The thought swam through Dingo’s clouded mind over and over. No other thoughts could come through. His mind was in a haze. He had fainted a few times already—he had felt a bit woozy for a few seconds and then came to a few feet away from where he last remembered being, in a heap on the ground. This had happened a couple of times already, but when he woke up from his most recent blackout he lacked the strength to stand back up. Was he really about to die thanks to his own impulsivity?

What a shame that Ohri’s brightest star burns out at such a young age. Oh, that’s deep. I should write that down.

His thoughts were clearing up a little as he began to regain full consciousness. Or maybe it was some sort of pre-death lucidity. He remembered Yonny talking about something like that like it was a fun little conversation starter. Oh, Yonny…he hadn’t thought of him yet. His thoughts, when clear enough to be coherent, mostly focused on his family. Well, ok, they mostly focused on his own survival and how sad it was that such a strapping young man would die so young…But after a good hour of wandering aimlessly with no sign of hope, he had accepted his fate and was mainly worried about how his family would cope. He hadn’t thought about Yonny, though. Not until now. Dingo wasn’t too worried about him, honestly. Maybe it was selfish, but Dingo felt more sorry for himself than he did for Yonny. Yonny would probably find a way to steal the recovered frozen corpse and grow a new Dingo in a lab somehow. But, Dingo, wherever he’ll end up when he dies, will be all alone. No family, no friends, no Yonny. He’ll only see him again whenever Yonny dies. Which, given Yonny’s occasional comments about wanting to solve the mystery of eternal life, probably won’t be any time soon. Somehow, that thought more than anything else, more than his impending doom and sore body, is what broke him. He curled in on himself and buried his head in his arms. He was too tired to cry, too tired to scream, too tired to feel anything but brokenness. He sat like this for what seemed like hours when a booming voice rang out over the mountains:

The words startled Dingo out of his stupor. He had no energy to look for the source of the sound. Even with the surprise, his heart was pounding worryingly slow, much different to his normally racing pulse at the slightest startle. Who was this Mr. Beast character? Was he some demon coming to drag him down to the underworld? Whatever the case was, the man continued speaking to his phone before seeming to notice Dingo.

How good was this beast’s vision…? Dingo was the size of the man’s eye, how had he noticed him? He must have the vision of a hawk. Terrifying. The Beast picked Dingo up, cupping him in his palm.

Cancel the video we had planned, he said to nobody in particular. This is all we need for our brand deal.

no offence to val kilmer but he really shot himself in the foot here lol because anyone who had as specific a vision for iceman as tony scott apparently did would have been even more convinced by val pulling these antics than if he showed up perfectly sincere and on his best behaviour. 

because firstly val had that barely contained slightly feral quality to him especially at that age that is somehow actually perfect for iceman. contain all that into the skin of a perfect golden boy fighter pilot and it creates something really dynamic and compelling that shows in iceman’s body language and just the way he holds himself throughout the film. so its very understandable why they were adamant on val for the role. 

and secondly, one of iceman’s most immediately noticeable character traits is the dgaf energy he exudes. he’s obviously not a rebel or non-conformist but he’s also definitely not a conformist. he clearly doesn’t care a lot about what exactly his supeiors or authority figures think of him personally. fandom interpretation where his whole personality as presented in the movie is actually a facade for how deeply he craves approval from everyone is usually a little boring to me (especially when done in that pretentious contrarian way fans sometimes have) because look at his demeanour with all his superiors and instructors including viper. 

he’s a very neutral character in that sense - being a conformist requires you to care but being a rebel also requires you to care deeply about what people think of you (mav). iceman toes the lines set for them only to the extent necesssary to keep himself out of trouble but his demeanour with his superiors is extremely casual (maybe too casual) and not really something that would win him any points with them. he doesn’t really care and he lets his flying do the talking for him. 

all of which seems kind of perfectly encapsulated in this audition of his lol

WHY ARE THINGS ALWAYS HAPPENING TO ME??? This isn’t even me being self pitying, it’s just absolutely insane how I am ALWAYS going through or dealing with something. I can’t even have one normal boring eventful day. I’m the main character but not in a self centered way. I’m the main character in the sense that all of my episodes and events are for the plot, and I get no goofy filler episodes or B plots. When do I get to have a silly fun beach episode?? Why must things happen to me every day????

I've reached season 5 on my CSI rewatch and I'm a few episodes past "Swap Meet", where a woman is murdered after attending a swing party with other couples from the neighbourhood. Near the end of the episode there's a moment that made me jump from my seat:

(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two cups. He hands her a cup of tea.)

[INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - BRASS' OFFICE]

Erin Brady: Everybody fantasizes about other people. (She glances at Grissom.)

Even you, Mr. Grissom. A neighbor, a friend ... girl at the office.

[INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - HALLWAY]

(The door opens. Paul Brady walks out of the hallway. Erin Brady walks out into the hallway. Sara is sitting in the hallway chair watching them. She watches as they meet and kiss.)

(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two culps. He hands her a cup of tea.)

Right after Erin ends her sentence with 'girl at the office', the first time Sara and Grissom meet again, he brings her tea. This might be an innocent interaction but to me it seemed like a nod to this relationship they have where both are into each other, know about the other's feelings, but can't/won't do anything about it (although Sara has kind of given Grissom an ultimatum). I don't know if it was intentional - I'm guessing it is, because I picked it up immediately. I might or might not have squealed in delight.
