When I was a young man of 19 years old, Israel Vibration's roots reggae album The Same Song (1978) had a huge impact on me. I listened to it on repeat for at least a full year; and have revisited it often from that time till now. Their entire discography has brought me heaps of joy and was the soundtrack behind many lasting and amazing memories. I'm working on being more grateful for all the abundance in my life and not taking anything for granted anymore. To simply be alive is such a treat; and I'm now very aware of the fact that the breath of life will eventually leave us all. Then add a roof over my head, food on my table, good health and loving friends and family; the blessings multiply. I say all that to say this - I've had the honor of sharing the stage with many artists that have been a great inspiration to me; as a DJ and more importantly as a living, breathing mortal man. Tomorrow night, in the wonderful town of Bend, I'll be selecting conscious culture tunes before Israel Vibration hits the stage. I'll be playing an all vinyl, 45 (7 inch) set.
