Therian Experiences Data Collection Survey!

Hello! I am trying to collect some information on therians for information and personal research purposes.

I am not associated, affiliated, or otherwise linked with any program, any study, or any group of people. I am not using the responses to this form to justify prejudice, harm, or bullying. I am simply curious about the experiences of the therian community, the overlaps that may exist with the LGBTQ+ community, as well as overlaps that may exist with life experiences.

There are three segments to this survey: the Therian Experience section, the LGBTQ+ Experience section, and the Personal Experience section.

Some of the questions in the Personal Experience section may be a little... well, personal! But I assure you that this survey is entirely anonymous, and for the entire third portion, every question except the first is 100% optional.

This survey takes between 10-30 minutes to complete, and would help me out a lot in my pursuit of knowledge!

EDIT 06.24.24: After a little feedback that was very eye-opening, I want to clarify something. I understand that this, of course, a flawed survey. I understand that the language and intent behind this may be confusing--this is exactly why I left the feedback box! This is not intended to be a professional or research-grade survey by any means. I am not, nor do I claim to be, a part of or even interested in being in a research-heavy field. I am just a curious mind who has some trouble understanding things, and on my way to further my understanding of your community, I want to see a larger picture first before having individual discussions with people. Because people's experiences differ largely, even within a community that, at least from the outside, is seen as being united. I think about the transgender community, which I am part of, and how all of our experiences are unique and cannot fit into a single box. That being said, I am continuously updating the questions in the survey as people take it. I am editing things based on feedback, based on things I gather from responses, etc. I am taking all of your feedback and considering it to make this a more accurate survey. And I understand that there are other, larger-scale surveys that have been done out there that gather information more accurately than I ever can, but I still want to do this myself. I want to try.

Experiencing weird feelings regarding someone identifying as a w******, it certainly isn't my place to assume they aren't native american but it still strikes an uncomfortable chord in me as they seem to be unaware of cultural attitudes towards the spirit. Have there been community discussions surrounding this topic before? I'd really be curious to hear them, and to especially hear from native alterhumans from whose cultures this spirit belongs.

I wish therianthropy and just alterhumanity in general was more researched, because I have so many questions.

For one, I’ve always wondered if alterhumanity is genetic. Could you inherit it from a parent? Or is it purely based on upbringing or even chance?

Also, is there a specific type of person who is more likely to be an alterhuman? I know a lot of alterhumans (at least the ones active in the community) are queer and/or neurodivergent, but is it really that they’re more likely to be one, or that they’re more likely to figure it out?

And wouldn’t it be nice to know what alterhumanity is from a non biased scientific perspective? I know it’s heavily belief based, and I’m not trying to say spiritual alterhumans aren’t valid, because they are. I’m just curious what science would think of us if it were properly researched

Hey guys, so I recently got an interesting request to change the last kintype in my pinned post to “w+ndigo” or “forest deity”. This, for some reason, piqued my interest, so I did some research on them. Turns out it was NOTHING like what I thought! I was under the impression that they were some sort of bipedal bear type thing with a deer skull that was just some monster, and boy was I wrong haha!

Sooooooo I think that my last kintype might be some kind of cryptid/demon/ghost. Or maybe even some kind of shapeshifter or polymorph! I’ll keep everyone posted once I do some more research and meditation :]

Hey hey ignore this if you want or don't feel comfy with it. But how long did it take you to find out your kin types? And how did you do it? I had to take away one of my kin types bc it was incorrect (kept thinking I was a winged fox, was not, and now I'm questing all of mine and feeling a new kin type) anyways thanks!

Compared to the fact that some alterhumans take years to confirm a kintype, I'd say I figured out mine relatively fast :>

At first I thought I was a cat, but then I started to have what I know realize were mental shifts! I was walking through a park and had a really strong urge to bark at the other dogs, I wanted to play with them and stuff! In general I just had a strong desire to act like a dog... That didn't really go away after that- I also started to imagine myself as a large dog more frequently

One day I had a dream were I was a black wolf dog! I couldn't stop thinking about being a big black dog! I did lots of research and looked at pictures of different dog breeds to find the one that looked the most like me. In the end, I decided to just call myself a german shepherd to see if it felt right. Welp and I haven't stopped calling myself that ever since XD

I haven't found my theriotype yet... but I think it lives in a forest. I don't know where to find concrete and detailed information on the different types of forests

Absolutely BEGGING all of my fellow younger non-/alter- humans to educate themselves before saying a "fact" (such as "we know we are human" and "we don't actually think we're animals", etc.)

I won't post their channel names, obviously, but many of the popular therians on youtube who are obviously minors make a lot of videos saying thing about the therian community that aren't true- which I will admit to thinking, at first, until I made a point to learn more about our community!

This isn't the most thought-out post, apologies if it sounds angry/hateful or doesn't make sense, but I feel that we (younger/nrwly awakened therians) all need to learn about our therianthropy before making any statements. That's all

You know, it always really annoys me when people immediately say something without any research and then: ''I don't respect it.'' Fortunately, I'm not like that, I do research and then I can determine whether I disagree with it or agree with it. You literally say: ''I don't understand you so I don't respect you either.'' Do you know how stupid that is? Unfortunately, many people or other beings are like that, and I hope you think and do research before you share your thoughts on something you know nothing about.
