I’ve seen a few posts now about a therian/alterhuman/otherkin/etc summer camp. And I have read those posts over and over again imagining that it’s a reality. Being able to be myself around others and enjoy the summer and feel like a kid again while also feeling like the canine I am.

Imaging waking up at camp, you find yourself in a cabin themed to reflect your animal or creature type. Your cabin is decorated with elements that make you feel at home in your therian identity—whether it’s the soft earth-toned bedding of the Wolf cabin, the treetop lofts of the Bird cabin, or the cozy nooks of the Fox cabin.

As the early morning light filters in, you can hear the distinct sounds of your cabin mates stirring. The air is alive with the scents of the forest and the sounds of nature. You stretch and prepare for the day's activities.

Breakfast is a lively affair in the communal dining area, where you get to enjoy critter-specific foods. The Wolf cabin might enjoy hearty meats and proteins, while the Rabbit cabin has an array of fresh fruits and vegetables. The meals are tailored to celebrate the diverse dietary needs and preferences of each group.

After breakfast, the fun begins. You head out to the expansive campgrounds where you can play fetch, swim in the crystal-clear lake, or run around on all fours, embracing the joy and freedom of your therian nature. The campgrounds are designed to provide ample space and opportunities for everyone to engage in activities that resonate with their inner animal.

In the afternoons, there are craft workshops where you can create gear inspired by your therian identity. Whether it’s making leather collars, feathered headpieces, or paw gloves, these sessions allow you to express your creativity and connect with others through shared projects.

As the day winds down, the camp gathers around a large bonfire. The flickering flames and crackling wood create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Laughter, stories, and songs fill the air as campers share their experiences and bond over their shared identities. The night sky, dotted with stars, adds to the magic of the moment.

As you retire to your cabin, the sense of camaraderie and belonging lingers, filling you with a profound sense of peace and fulfillment. This is a place where you can truly be yourself, surrounded by a community that understands and celebrates your therian spirit.

Guys do NOT support therian camps/villages they are fantasy! A village would need: government recognition (gov won’t do that bcuz an only therian town is discriminatory), and certified: police, firefighters, lawyers, judges, doctors, plumbers, electricians, construction workers etc also what if two therians have a non therian kid? Do you kick them out?? These places wouldn’t be safe government recognition would also attract antis. What about sewage? Paving roads? Building homes? Housing market?? And a hospital with medicine and doctors?? A camp wouldn’t be safe either how would you prevent antis from enrolling? Are you first aid certified? Can you feed everyone? Do you have someone willing to rent you land? Can you handle a crisis? Can you handle fights?? And the worst part? These fantasies attract minors because the majority of our community is minors and people try and set up fundraisers YOU ARE STEALING MONEY FROM MINORS BY TELLING THEM A LIE. THERIAN TOWNS WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

Ok thinking back to a trope on Therian TikTok that was around for a while:

Therian Schools/Camps/Whatever The Fuck were a big thing there and honestly from a realist perspective they are a laughable idea and would never work in real life but I think trying to use that as a stance against them is missing the point.

Therian Schools/Camps work better as a fictional concept than a real life thing. They are a nice IDEA. The concept that you could find a place outside of regular reality with friends just like you and a place of acceptance and community far away from the struggles and dangers of regular society is a lovely thought to have. It's why people like Camp Half-Blood or god forbid Hogwarts so much.

Everyone knows that a real Camp Half-Blood would kind of suck. You'd have to do chores still, would have to live your every day life, magical schools would still require you to know Math and Science, stuff like that.

That doesn't make the IDEA of a therian school any less appealing though.

Also most of the people I saw on tiktok trying to make this a reality were like 12 years old and scamming people on gofundme so don't donate to those.

I would love this! Being in a cabin with fellow therian types. I wish this was a thing.

I don’t frequent the TikTok therian community much, but I really do enjoy the idea of a “therian summer camp” that I see posted about on there. There’s something so fun and sweet about it.

Cabins for housing all the kinds of animals that come, you could stay with your own species or be with all different kinds of animals you would’ve never met otherwise

Birds nesting in the top bunks, foxes and rabbits creating their dens in the bottom bunks

Activities that teach how to cook and add new species-appropriate dishes to your diet

Lots of hiking and time in nature, reflective meditation time out in the trees or water for those who want a peaceful activity

Being able to behave naturally without feeling bad or weird, because everyone there is an animal! Everyone would see it as normal when/if you were to respond with barks or squeaks or yips or meows or whatever your instinct is

Drawing and trading little portraits of your fellow camp mates, going to arts and crafts activities and making friendship bracelets and tie dye T-shirts or gear like masks and ears

Music and dance done by community members, poems read and art shared with each other

The last night could be held on a full moon, with everyone coming together for performances and food and play under the moonlight 🩶

So somebody wanted to know about my therian camp dr but I lost the ask, sorry to that person! T_T Anyways, the funnest thing about scripting camp DR's is customizing your environment! Here are some spaces I scripted if you would like to use them!

don't forget to customize your area by adding books, posters, and other decorations!! I personally added the warriors series and vines coming from the ceiling!
