There's an incredibly fucking interesting contrast between how kind and benevolent Theresa is and how fucked up what she did to Amiya (in choosing to pass the Civilight Eterna onto Amiya).

Almost everyone who is In The Know thinks that Theresa is so fucked up for doing this, for being the reason why Amiya is forced to shoulder the entire weight of Sarkaz history and to be uncontrollably overwhelmed by other people's emotions and feel them as they die:

Shining sees Amiya and feels a pang of compassion:

Warfarin thinks it's better to just let Amiya die in her sleep and thinks that, in a moment of desperate, misguided hope, Theresa condemned a little girl to a horrible fate:

Kal'tsit really doesn't want Amiya to fight or lead the Chernobog operation because fears that she will suffer the same fate Theresa did, smothered out by the cruelty of an uncaring world (but at the same time, she also believes she has the right to choose for herself):

Even Amiya's potential token is (what seems to be, to me) a plea for forgiveness from Theresa:

But the thing is, Amiya doesn't think this. She has absolutely every reason to hate Theresa, to despise her for showing her love but taking her life into her hands and saying "my path is now yours," but she doesn't. In fact, Amiya is more grateful than anything else that Theresa has given her the Crown, and with it, the power to change things (but at the same time, even that is called into question. Remember that one conversation between Amiya and the Damazati Cluster as Bill in Episode 10?:)

There's this one scene in Episode 8 in particular that really gets me, where Rosmontis asks Amiya that shouldn't they hate the people that turned them into the monsters they are, but Amiya can't agree:

Even if Theresa was the monster who made sure she could never live a normal life and the reason for the suffering she's experienced, she was her mother, how could she agree? She was her mother, she loved her and Amiya could never bring herself to hate her.

Been seeing people jump the gun regarding the idea we might get playable Theresa, whether they love or hate that idea (I am in the hate it camp because in my opinion it would undermine a lot of the themes of the Victoria arc, several important character arcs, and not really bring anything we cant already get without her becoming playable) I just wanna point out that it is almost 100% certainly not happening so you do not go around worrying or getting your hope up. In Lone trail its all but stated Theresa is dead during the "debate" with Friston in doc´s part of it:

Then in Kal´s part it is stated she is trying not to think about Theresa, which would be very odd if Theresa is just alive and working for Rhodes (all playable operators are either employees or in partnerships with Rhodes) also Theresa is mentioned alongside Theresis, who is extremely unlikely to survive the Victoria arc:

Lonetrail only came out one year before when chapter 14 will drop, so while rewrites happen I find it unlikely such a major thing as an important character death being truly undone (I feel calling Theresa as she is now "alive" is a bit generous) would happen in this short timeframe. There are also like... tons of thematic reasons with the writing which signals Theresa is passing on the torch and going to move on, that makes me think it is extremely unlikely that they will make her playable. In chapter 13, Arturia oprec of all places, things in multiple earlier chapters and side stories, side material to the game, etc... And as far as I can tell the reason people think she might become playable is literally just a leak that there is Theresa merch for 5th anniversary? Which, even if the leak is true, does not really suggest her becoming playable. It is quite likely she is gonna be the boss of the chapter for one and we have non playable character merch already.

if arknights actually goes through with it and makes Theresa playable in a way that isn't some cop out au it really does have a lot of potential to be either one of the most interesting plots hgs done or one of the worst with no in-between.

I wonder if Amiya asked Misha to teach her how to make dolls not only because she wanted to bond with her, but also because it reminded her of Theresa, who was a seamstress.

It also ties into my headcanon that the IRL plushies that look like bunnyfied and catified operators actually exist in-universe. Theresa came up with the general design back during the Babel days and made a few herself. Then, after Rhodes Island was established, someone decided to make more and it really caught on. At first, it was just some Amiya plushies to give to young patients, but they became so popular, that Rhodes actually established a limited merchandise line and started selling them both on the landship and in some offices. The plushies are made by the operators who like to sew, and RI staff and operators can vote on who will get a plush next. It can even be a reward for contests and competitions!

Theresa strike me as the sort of person to send letters to her brother about the fun things in her life. After a few years, Theresis had more photos of Amiya than he knew what to do with it. Theresa even got angry when he refused to come celebrate his niece's birthday.
