Since you said it's ok to send you random ask, i've always found your "monsters" design to be really really gorgeous, and I wanted to know : in any form of media you've interacted with, what's PEAK monster design for you ?

i have been thinking about this ask alot bc ... i dont ... know? theres a problem with what counts as a monster really too, most are either some sort of anthro/furry or the horror gore type of monster that instills you more with disgust than awe

i guess theres some i really like but idk if thats what id call 'peak' (though its rarely JUST the design but their vibe and stuff too);

(its a lot of zelda.. sorry)

Eldra, Farodra and Naydra (engl Dinraal, Farosh(?)) though Eldra is def my fav one of them, i like how they are a little more less typical dragon- with the fur around the neck the floppy ears and kinda goofy face yet manage to be the most ethereal, awe inspiring creature i have ever seen in a game with how they act and are presented as (in BOTW!!! do not mention anythign sonau/zonai with stupid magic pebbles to me about them i will manifest worms into your tea)

Leunen (Lynels) (botw) -i could not find a better picture wtf, fav are white and silver ones) FINE they had some pretty neat new horn designs in totk- idk i just like them alot, rather simple if you think about it, horse lion plus horns- but its so well put together it just kinda scratches my brain in a good way (also how intelligent they clearly are, like the way they fight and act and also even their death animation is so??? huh?? you are just gonna treat them like any other mindless monste- *remmbers they treat ganondorf even even worse all things considered* .. nevermind you're good)

'Beast' Ganondorf (twilight princess) its my favorite beast ganon design (even if it technically is just kinda a man boar .. again) though if ww gan had a non puppet beast form that one would most definitely be my fav lol (i will not get over the fact that some descriptions call this a hideous beast EXCUSE ME???? WHERE???) (honorable mention here, darkbest ganon from botw, pig on fire but it looks cool as fuck)

Nimbusgarde (ww) .. (engl .. darknuts?) do i need to say anything? (i could throw alot of ww design here) not sure if it counts as monster but they are not human so ????

the pathless bosses- (here in order, Cernos, the Godslayer, and Kumo) all of them are rad as hell (except for the final version of the godslayer ... liek im sorry but it looks to boring compared to any other one lol) again not just the design but man do i love them

since i dont know what would count as a monster or no i could just list my fav characters here bfmjbfmjsbmj like radahn (elden ring) is just kinda a zombie, aurelion sol (league of legends) is a space dragon, the forest god in princess mononoke, Narisha (skyward sword- sky whale)- i could go on but this post is long already (honorable mention to Omus in nausicäa, weird bugs but also something divine, though it is much more how they are treated and the vibe etc)

in all honesty though i cant think of one that i would describe as perfect, what i want of a monster design is to be ... cool but also a little weird, big hulking monsters that have something off about them and something that makes them 'other', but also not, as much as i like bloodborne, just bloody gory messes of rotting flesh, AND not just as a monster to kill, i just crave a game or otherwiese piece of media where the cool monsters arent just there for you to kill- the perfect one i guess would be something kinda big scary weird and off but while non verbal clearly not a mindless beast?

and here is the thing; my own characters do not furfill that, my designs are really rather conservative, much to my dismay, anthro of a mix of animals, maybe an extra arm thrown in- Eadrya, one of my favorites, is really just a blueish furry (yes they have fur) and their demon form is a mix of seals and catfish with some extra arms, too many teeth and a mouth that goas wayy to far (if they want) - Shargon is a feather dude with extra arms and his demon form is really just a chinese type dragon crossed with a bird, throw some darts at the color wheel, done

together with my problem of my monster characters losing their 'otherness' vibe within the story rather fast bc the majority of my characters are non human and speak and you see them in all sorts of emotions and parts of life- they lose that divine, unknown vibe and i HATE that that happens, i want them more akin to the forest god in mononoke but thats not possible unless i start from scratch

and i really dont mean to make myself look bad to sound self depre- ... however you spell that; i really am rather dissatisfied with my own designs but mostly just roll with what i got bc i never seem to be able to actually achieve what i want

even my redesigns often really make things LESS interesting (unless maybe the og was just ... human, but they are blue eyed with golden hair and white so that makes them divine you seE-), the skyward sword dragons as i redesigned them made them much more classical dragon, in part intentional bc i was drawing a connection of them becoming the botw dragons at some point, but by all means the canon design is much more weird and unusual than what i did with them, you could apply the same to even demise, his canon design might seem a little uninspired but really what did i do? inject him with some classic satan spice like that makes it in any way less stereotypical evil demon ??? lol

im sorry this post devolved into whatever this is but i really am trying to answer sincerely, i am confused about it myself, what counts as a monster, what doesnt, there must be more that i really loved but why cant i think of them, why do i design characters like this when i really want something much more different, i dont know, i feel like my brain is in a cage, why do i keep making things less interesting in an effort to make it interesting, am i falling into the corporate trap of cool sells who am i what am i doing

(theres a zelda artist with a style so strikingly genuis in shape, color and just .. DESIGN that i want to chew my nails off bc i cannot design like them, their designs and redesigns are so different yet sensical and so full of crisp shapes i have never seen before it drives me nuts and i would want to give them a shoutout but i think they dont like me so aaaaarhekjbfhgdknbgdfklbg)

Do you have recommendations for shows/books/whatever with canon/basically canon polyamory?

ok the only media w officially canon polyam i personally consumed are Iron Widow and Hades.

Iron Widow is a mecha scifi/chinese fantasy book, it has pacific rim mechanics, so it takes 2 ppl to pilot the mecha but its more dystopian in that the pilot (male) usually drains the life force of his concubine (female). the mc has a guy shes interested in from the start but she pushes him aside to seek her goals to become a concubine pilot (theres a very good reason for this but i dont wanna give too much away) ends up being forced to work w the most dangerous pilot (spoilers hes actually a misunderstood sweetheart and i love him), her first love somehow finds his way back into her life so he can be their ally and its very clear from the first time he meets the other guy that this bitch is bi af. At one point he literslly saves their lives and i wont elaborate on that cause again spoilers but someone mentioned it in a propaganda ask. They canonically fall in live w each other and start dating. Please look up the trigger warnings first cause theres some heavy subjects addressed in this book. The book itself has trigger warnings listed at the start so if u find it at a book store u can check them this was too.

Hades is a roguelike videogame w dating sim mechanics (ish) -you give gifts to characters to learn more about them, and theres two romance options but you can romance both at once, they're both aware of and okay with it, hinting that they mightve had a past even before zagreus was born (its greek gods one is death incarnate the other is one of the furies, they've basically existed since forever)

ive been told Leverage is like the korrasami of polyam, as in they were as polyam as they could be in a show from 2010, so it sounds like its canon but not explicit because they couldnt get away with that.

The girls from Amphibia are apparently in a similar situation, heavily implied canon, someone told me it was confirmed by people who worked on the show, but i dont think its explicitly stated.

The Kane Chronicles apparently also has canon polyam, although its 2 bodies, cause I think one of them has a god in him or something? I never read the books, but I was told Sadie (i think thats her name? The girl) is in love w both of them, and kinda dating both too i think?

I dont know if Singing in the Rain is canon but theres that kiss gif that got prrtty popular on tumblr where kathy kisses one of the guys then the other, so it looks canon? or at least implied canon?

Sense8 as some people have mentioned has 1 officially confirmed to be canon throuple, 1 that has a lot of hints to confirm but a lot of ppl see it as a gay couple w a very supportive friend ig and someone else said in general because of the plot u could kind of see the 8 of them as a big polycule, although that one isnt canon

HoneyWorks/Heroine Tarumono is one of those songs turned novel turned anime. i dont think its confirmed canon but theres a lot of stuff pointing to the possibility, you mightve see @non-fantasy telling me about them in a few asks. im obsessed and ive yet to watch anything

Penumbra Podcast: Second Citadel has Rilla/Sir Damien/Lord Arum, i also haven't listened to this one but a lot of people told me rilla and damien were in a pre-established relstionship, both got crushed on lord arum separately, talked about it and worked things out to now be a canon polycule

im She-Ra (netflix) theres a trio that is implied to be a polycule at the end, a lot of ppl called them canon in the notes but i dont personally ember it being confirmed? i am very forgetful tho. It's Rogelio/Kyle/Lonnie, unfortunately they lost the prelim round

Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War - two students are in love with eachother but refuse to "lose" and admit their feelings. Instead, they have increasingly convoluted plans to get the other to confess.

Okay I will admit. this Is a romance and also ive only seen the anime. So actually this would fall more under anime recs bcs the english dub voice acting is AMAZING. Anyway tho its a comedy that I really enjoy. Its about romance but like. Idk I dont read/watch romance often so I cant say "its not like the standard romance plot". But its less about them Falling In Love and more about them Overthinking Everything And Being Silly. ALSO !! tho it takes a bit, it does go into the characters a lot. Very centred on the characters relationships !! Not just romantically between the main two, but in general.

Why I think you would like it: similar in "vibe" to nozaki-kun. Funny!! But it has its moments of seriousness and it understands its characters well.

Mushishi - Eye Have Not Read This im sorry 🙏 i havent even seen the anime so I dont actually know much about it but ive been recced it so many times I figure I should pass it to you.

If u like Natsume's Book of Friends you'll enjoy this. Genuinely I think this is my strongest rec for you on this list even tho I've never seen it. I really do think u wld enjoy 👍

This one is a little sad. More likeeee. Meloncholy, yk? I dont have much to say about it. Very good manga.

Why I think you would like it: The character relationship between the two girls seems like something you would enjoy.

Look Back - to be super honest its been over a year since I read this I dont fully remember what happens. Theres this girl wjo draws comics for her elementary school newsletter. Shes funny so every1 really likes her and her comics. at some point another comic appears, but its actually just four panels of background art. Its so beautifully drawn that the other students begin to fawn over it. Angry kver her loss of attention, the first girl goes to meet the girl making these new comics (The background girl doesnt go to school, she works at home). Thr end up becoming friends and the story shows how their friendship develops and changes, growing closer and growing further apart.

The manga is p short for. a manga but its actually just a Really Long oneshot. Its rlly good. not much else to say.

Why I think you would like it: Very similar to Blue Period. About art and how it reflects people. Also very strongly driven by the relationship between the two girls.

1. Yu Yu Hakusho ⭐️

THIS SHOW CHANGED MY BRAIN CHEMICALS. I CANT PROPERLY EXPRESS HOW MUCH I ABSOLUTELY FUCKING ADORE THIS CAST OF CHARACTERS. THAT LIL DUDE IN THE MIDDLE?? HIEI, THE LOVE OF MY LIFE, I ADORE HIM SO MUCH, HES SUCH A WONDERFUL CUTE TSUNDERE BASTARD. literally the main cast is full of characters with "contradicting" traits that just work SO WELL in making them interesting and fun

kuwabara (the one in blue) is a precious himbo, a very loud delinquent kid who loves to fight but has an honor code he will ALWAYS abide by and has a cute little kitten he adores!!!

yusuke (the one in green) is similarly a delinquent and, honestly, is more of an asshole LOL but he despite his rudeness he doesnt hesitate to put his life on the line for others!

hiei MY LOVE is The Edgy One and always acts like they rest in the group arent his friends but he always is there to help when hes needed and clearly worries for their safety 🥰 and he has a sister hes very sweet and protective over!!! and hes also just Full Of Trauma that i wont get into as more of his backstory is revealed later in the show. and hes just an absolute badass and really hot,,, (forces myself to move on or ill just ramble endlessly about him)

THEN theres hieis lover partner kurama (the red head, and my big kin!!!!), whos by far the sweetest of the 4, is a total mamas boy, BUT hes also a centuries old fox demon known for his thievery and cruelty and was changed when he was almost killed and had to transfer his soul into an unborn human child to stay alive, where his human mom's love changed him to be kinder :'3 (none of that is a spoiler really, this is info he literally states very soon after his introduction) but even though hes changed, hes still can be absolutely RUTHLESS to his enemies. even hiei states early on that he chose kurama as his partner because he wouldnt want him as an enemy

AHEM okay. thats enough rambling about my hyperfixation for now i think fhkzhfjd i probably wont be rambling much about the other ones i just really really REALLY love yyh

2. My Hero Academia

i was biiig hyperfixated on this show for a while there, i just absolutely LOVE stories that explore the gray areas of things, so when this show gets into that sorta shit with the hero society its a BIG fave. plus the characters are really fun, todoroki is my fave hehe

3. She-ra (reboot)

another previous hyperfixation, i just really love these characters and honestly theyre so fun to ship in a big ol poly pile lol. tbh i miss being fixated on this one, i had sooo much fun with it ♡

4. Talentless Nana

this was a shorter hyperfixation, but MAN this show gave me EMOTIONS. i dont wanna say too much about it because i think its best to watch the first episode without knowing too much about it, but there is a BIG TWIST at the end of the first episode, and the "genre" of the show completely shifts for all of the episodes after it. if you like darker series, i def recommend this one :3 i just hope itll get more seasons!! but at least theres the manga to continue on with after the first season!

5. Avatar the Last Airbender

an absolute classic from my childhood ♡ itll always be one of my faves!! the characters, the story, the world, i love it so much !!! i still wish i could be a water or fire bender ^w^

honestly it feels weird not putting up a sonic show on here, but when i think about it i never was the biggest on the shows and have always been way more attached to the games canon. though sonic x is def still a classic from my childhood too owo

long rant about anime INCOMING. like. so long.

there is something so powerful about nostalgic anime or things from the past. SPECIFICALLY 2000’s to 2010’s ANIME HITS SO DIFFERENT. the stuff theyre putting out now is really a lot of hit or miss, overused troupes, mid writing, same formulaic stuff…. IT GETS BORING.

i have my gripes with harem and isekai and just how boring it gets with each overused troupe, everything is so predictable, and frankly ITS ALSO HOW I FEEL ABOUT SO MUCH SHOUNEN ANIME OUT THESE DAYS. isekai: theres always some weird thing that makes the main character special and overpowered, for some reason lots of big boobied simple characters with no depth, fanservice central, boring boring boring. theres some gems out there like mushoku tensei, slime was pretty good but set the standard and everything else just seems the same, iconic ones like everyone in isekai quartet (ainz, rezero, tanya, etc. u get what i mean) but frankly, theyre really just pumping out some MID garbage. and while i get it: some shows just SUCK but are SO AWESOME that u just enjoy it… but as for me? its just NOT my cup of tea.

then theres harem… oh harem………. its just bad. theres a lot of shows that count as harem that i actually LOVE and enjoy like MakeIne (great show), oresuki, konosuba technically lumfao!, BUT. with like every great show that counts as a harem, theres like 10 other shows that hit the mark completely. and i get it, not every company can come out with ONLY certified bangers,

BUT CMON THE GOLDEN ERA FOR ME IN ANIME WAS SOOOO THE 2000’s AND 2010’s. ESP IN SHOUJO lumfao. LIKE ALL THE MOST ICONIC BEAUTIFUL AMAZING GROUNDBREAKING ANIME WAS CULTIVATED DURING THEN. not every anime was heavily fanserviced with big boobies, not every shoujo was poorly written “hes so big… and he cares for me…!!!”, not every harem was panties in my face (though admittedly many of them were…), men who are main characters had GUY FRIENDS, and maybe even GIRLS WHO ARE ACTUALLY JUST FRIENDS AND NOT LOVE INTERESTS, shows had BACKGROUND CHARACTERS AND MINOR CHARACTERS THAT ARE ACTUALLY INTERESTING.

kaminomi is one of my top fave harem of all time, with technically ohshc being a “reverse harem”, theres just sooo much iconic anime that really cant be beat from the 2000s-2010s era for me.

this is death note era, nana era, ouran era, jjba era, chobits, toradora, kaminomi, little busters, angel beats, code geass, higurashi when they cry, clannad, steins gate, monogatari, hetalia (oh gosh), (late 2010’s-2020’s~soso) ssss.gridman/dynazenon/universe (my goat currently), spice and wolf, engaged to the unidentified, kamisama kiss, naruto and dbz (even tho dbz is like way old and so is jjba but yk.), gintama, not all but a LOT of some of the most iconic ghibli films imo, full metal, my little monster, MADOKA MAGICA, HARUHISUZUMIYA.. LIKE THE LIST GOES ON. ARGUABLY SOME OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL ANIME OF ALL TIME. EVEN IF I HAVENT SEEN WHAT SOME PEOPLE SAY IS THE GOAT OF ANIME IT PROBABLY AIRED DURING THIS ERA. AND IM NOT EVEN INCLUDING ANY OF MY FAVE ANIME MOVIES SAD AND NOT SAD (besides ghibli)

but do i think there arent any good gems out there right now? oh nah theres a few good ones out rn. but the way its looking. lowkey. i think we’re only gonna be getting mostly mid ones…… like sure the animation quality is fantastic! the overworked animators are doing great, but. some of these shows are just plain dog water. like i cant get through so many of these shows. like yeah jjk is aight, chainsaw man was dubious!!, dandadan is a fun watch, but for SOME REASON. none of these shows hit like freaking early 2000s and early 2010’s anime. like instantly it also hits when there’s like violin and divine ahh soundtrack like DANG!!! YOU DID NOT NEED TO HIT THAT HARD!!! especially madoka magica and kaminomi.

can i just talk about how good kaminomi is too btw. its the only respectful harem i know, keima is actually a main character worth loving with substance more than a character troupe, the girls are so much more than what they look, keima helps them all and ELSIE IS ACTUALLY JUST A SISTER CHARACTER AND NOTHING ELSE. GENUINELY SHE IS JUST ELSIE MY GOAT. and like in toradora each of the characters are ACTUALLY INTERESTING!!!! like taiga and ryuji’s progression, the arcs of minorin and freaking glasses (even tho their arcs may be weakly written, at least they have more depth than most!) and the fact our main character actually has a guy friend and like. not some weird little girl sister character? its refreshing. its so refreshing!!!!!! does toradora count as a harem? lul. like wow!! these characters are people!!!

actual people! not just boobs or overpowered MC who everyone likes for NO REASON!

lowkey, i think they hit it out the park when VNs were being produced in anime. storylines with serious characters and plot, the characters have feelings and goals and so much more emotion. these recent years its a lot of light novels, but so simple. like

they all have one shtick they follow: “in another world without my books” “in another world WITH a cellphone.” “im the only guy who can level up and im overpowered” “i have a useless skill that actually isnt useless at all and im overpowered!” like wow, just how many themes are we exploring this time around. i did like “kumo desuga, nanika?!” a lot but frankly bc it was one of the like first 5 super quirky isekai i’d watched at the time. okay so i know i already told you this but um i really really want to tell you again so i apologise in advance

so first of all my three favorites by far are beast wirt, bipper, and birthday mabel. i love beast wirt and birthday mabel the most but bipper is pretty cool too!!!

you already know i'm obsessed with beast wirt but um i love him so much. one of my favorite things about him is that his ending really was plausible. it had an actual source and place where it branched off which i think is so epic and is different from bipper in this sense, where canonically if bill had not left dipper's body he would have essentially killed dipper's body and he like. did say that. um. but regardless i really really love his design and his song and like the story in general. i also love him cause he's one of the originals which i think is really interesting because while the three source materials for the originals really are pretty intertwined fandom and also kind of style-wise they aren't very connected necessary

bipper is really really interesting to me. i am absolutely obsessed with his design which is funny cause it literally doesn't change from his design in the show except for like sticking forks in him. but that's not the issue here--- anyway the one thing i don't like about bipper (and the reason i'm not a huge fan of a lot of the newer additions to the list) is because there is no way his story would have happened canonically? and while it's still really really cool i have a hard time appreciating him fully because there's not much of an explanation for him. he also happened canonically, which kinda lessens my appreciation for him which sucks cause he's really cool and interesting and i want to study him under a microscope (also his theme is wolf in sheep's clothing which is like the coolest ever)

okay. birthday mabel. i love her so so so much

the first thing that i need to explain about her is that her existence is only possible if bipper has already occurred, or if the canon end to bipper occurred--- aka dipper dying. i feel so bad for continuously referencing the canon for a literal set of aus but in canon gravity falls there was a note left for mabel by bipper that basically said "yeah imma jump off the water tower in your brother's body. care to join him shooting star?" which is really interesting to me but that's like not important. anyway um her story is that she felt really really guilty about not saving dipper. this is in reference to bipper's story, because in bipper's actual au bill basically just like manipulated everyone and beat everyone and just never left dipper's body. anyway eventually she threw her 13th birthday party without dipper but no one came to the party, so she kinda. snapped. and started throwing "pity parties" (hence her theme song, her entire design is actually probably based on the song which i think is really cool) and eventually she like. meets bipper and kinda just thinks he's dipper because she's not doing well. actually a really interesting fact about bipper is that it's implied dipper's like soul is still haunting bipper, implying that he's kinda just like still watching his body do all of these things without being able to do anything about it

MALLEUS DRACONIA

someone set the alchemy room on fire. again. this had to be like the fifth time this week (albeit it didn’t happen during the science club this time around). everyone evacuated the building and was waiting for the whole thing to be under control, which wouldn’t take long.

malleus had no trouble getting out. he was feeding his digital pet while waiting for the whole situation to blow over-

“malleus-sama, where’s (y/n)?” sebek asks. “usually they’re with you.”

malleus almost dropped his digital pet. “(Y/N)!!!” he exclaims, running back inside the building. it was rare to see malleus panic. he had accidentally left you in the building!

eventually he found you. you were wandering around, and it wasn’t far from the exit he entered through. he could only sigh in relief as he took your hand while you yawned. “you always come to my rescue~” you smile.

RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS

getting through assignments was tough when you were tired. all the time. but your boyfriend was riddle rosehearts so he was going to get you to finish your work one way or another.

“alright (y/n). there’s one more problem...” he wanted to cry seeing how many parts there were. that was literally half the alphabet! how did professor crewel expect them to do it? “we got this!”

“yeah! we got this!” you smiled.

it only took about five hours. you fell asleep. riddle decided to say “fuck it” and did the whole problem before adding the answers to a sheet. he’d let you use it when you woke up. although he was too tired to go back to his dorm and fell asleep on your carpet.

“hmm? are we done?” you yawned as you woke up. you looked back at riddle before picking him up and putting him in a guest room. he worked hard. he deserved to rest.

ROOK HUNT

“rook! rook!” you whined as you followed him in the hallway. you two were heading to class.

“yes trickster? what can i do for you?” he smiles.

“do you think we can dance today? i want to continue my lessons!” you pouted. you had asked rook to help you multiple times. though it seemed that most of the time ended with you falling asleep.

“ah okay. we’ll meet at the pomefiore ballroom for practice later. okay?” he smiled upon seeing your excited nod.

turns out today would be like those most times where you fell asleep on rook’s chest while you two were dancing. he kept you up. but he enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and being close to you. it was peaceful compared to the hectic environment of nrc.

“can’t i at least get out of bed!” you whine. you were trying to sit up but fell back down, feeling the intense fatigue take over your body again. you could feel how much your body wanted to sleep.

“no. look you can barely stand up.” he huffs. “you got sick from yesterday’s shower. and you must deal with the consequences.” jade helps you sit up and uses multiple pillows to prop you up.

“i was so close.” you pout.

“well it’s not so bad.” jade puts the tray of food on your lap. “i mean, i get to spend the day with you. and hopefully not get sick. i probably won’t. my immune system is impeccable, as azul would say.”

“well that means you’re the best boyfriend.” you yawned.

So, Disney put out that "We Dont Talk About Bruno, 21 Languages" version, and it made me really want to hear all of them. So i did, and catalogged it for tumblr. Tried to keep it down to two points each, so this wouldnt be any longer then its already going to be.

Theres two missing because i couldnt find the full versions online, so if anyone else has them please send them to me so i can complete the list!

Russian:

One of the lines in camillos verse is changed to, in russian, "A midnight howl, your nightmare" which fuckin slaps honestly. Also the pastor in this one sounds extra pathetic and i kinda love it.

Really just love the pronunciations of a lot of the russian language. This ones just fun for the ears honestly.

German:

Instead of saying THUNDER he just shouts EIN STORM and thats fucking hilarious.

Holy shit the camillo part in this one is. Like look ok i know the best part of the song is going to slap in any language but holy shit i did not expect to feel some type of way from the line "ein ratten" ok? Fuckin. Whoever they got to sing that part is fuckin wild and can have my babies holy fuck

Dutch:

Does a really good job of capturing the inflection of the english VA's. Delores and camillo especially.

While it doesn't have any super defining features like some others, its a really smooth one to one recreation, the line changes don't interrupt the flow at all like it does in others, and honestly you could probly swap it with the english one and id never notice.

Polish:

Camilo really Spits out his verses in this one, really driving home that dark and terrifying vibe. Theres a serious force to some of his words that make them feel like theyre being hurled at you.

They actually pronounce Bruno's name differently, as a brun-yey or brun-ya, depending on the line, which i find really interesting.

Italian:

Not too crazy about this one overall

But

The FUNNIEST version of "isabella your boyfriends here" i've heard so far. You just have to hear it for yourself, i cant do it justice.

Thai:

A bit like the italian one, doesn't mesh quite as well as some others, that said

Thai-Delores verse fuckin sweeps this whole song. Its a little bit grittier and i fucking love it, really drives home the "dark secret" vibe.

Danish:

Danish-Felix puts a little flair at the end of his lines that i love. Its his own little personal oomph, that just feels like he was having fun with it.

Solid overall, though not too much that stands out.

French:

God DAMN does the french version go hard. These VAs just fuckin went OFF.

While there wasn't a lot of variance in inflection like some of the others, they really just fuckin sang their hearts out at the top of their lungs and its fuckin great.

Japanese:

Alright this was inevitable but camillo sounds like an anime villain especially during the "your boyfriends here" bit. Tell me that laugh aint straight outta your favorite shounen

I actually love the villagers verse! They have so much distinct character! Also as a sidebar, this is the best mirabel verse i've heard so far. The way she holds the "bruno" at the begining is just *chefs kiss*

Greek:

Sadly the only version i could find sounded like someone recorded it from their closet, so there might be some finer details i miss.

That said, still a solid rendition all around. Loved the voice for isabella in this one, just very pretty, idk how else to put it. Definitely on the higher end, but still mostly a one to one copy of the original. Which is not a bad thing, to clarify.

Korean:

Korean-Pepa&Felix are so much fun. Idk what it is but i love the vibes they put out.

Also, the dead fish girl just straight goes "the next day BLEG" and i fuckin wish they did that in the original because it so much funnier than saying it died.

Bulgarian

Hungarian:

Sadly another low quality recording, but i don't think it suffered too much from it?

Its definitely the most unique rendition so far. Theres a weird tonal shift when camillos part comes in, and i think the beat is actually a bit slower from that point on. Whether thats good or bad ill leave up to you, im not 100% sure where i stand on it myself.

Norwegian:

Norwegian-Felix sounds like an absolute bear of a man and im kinda hear for it. Also point to Norwegian-Camillo for being the first one to actually sound like a fuckin teenager.

Also, this is more an overall but its at this point in my journey that im realizing…

Every nonenglish-version of Abuela's one line sounds almost identical, and they all sound like theyre sung by a dude. Idk what it is. Maybe my brain is suffering BrunoBrainRot.

Bahasa Malaysia:

Another A Tier dolores. As someone who preferred Camillo in the english version, in a lot of these its surprisngly Dolores who steals the show.

Also, just to make my last one look stupid, abuela is once again a woman. Actually, a lot of the VA's in this one sounded really close to the English VA's, Camillo especially.

Vietnamese

Euro Portugese:

Now THAT is a good Camillo. Not quite the level of some of my earlier faves, but still very good. Close to Russian Camillo.

I really enjoyed the inflection on Isebella's verse. Gave it a bit of extra oomph during a part i usually kind of glaze over. Her verse is pretty, but the slowest bit of the whole song, so i like when they do something that makes it Pop a bit more.

Brazilian Portugese:

Brazilian-Felix and the villagers both sound like theyre just having a blast. I really like the ones where it feels like they were just having fun recording.

Mirael and Camillo sound like they swapped ages, especially at the end. I cant stop picturing a 28 year old Camillo leaning on a tiny angry Mirabel's head.

Taiwanese Mandarin:

Taiwanese-Pepa is fucking beautiful. She should've gotten Isabellas verse, its so good. That said, its nice to hear an approach to Pepa that isn't so harsh.

Taiwanese-Camillo is haunting, a very ghostly quality to it. Its a different kind of spooky that i enjoy. Puts a fun spin on it.

Spanish:

Man i really saved the best for last. This is like the New Game+ of We Don't Talk About Bruno. Its the original, but better.

While there isn't anything that makes it necessarily unique, it takes every good quality from the english version and just cranks it up to 12. Def top tier material.

To close, this is a fantastic song in any language, that i'll be listening to for a very long time.

I WAS LITERALLY AVOIDING OTHWR MEDIA TOO SO I COULD PRESERVE MY HITTACHIN HYPERFIXATION and then my friend wanted to see a movie for their birthday,, fuck that friend in particular. how dare they make me consume outside media

my hyperfixations are usually really long. even if theres no more content of it for me to see, my headcanons and made up scenarios can keep it going FOREVER

in fact something really funny is that when i get a new hyperfixation i tend to just. completely drop the old one. i literally straight up abandoned a dsm p twitter stan account with nearly 1k followers and a bunch of close mutuals DAYS after starting danganronpa. once something grabs my mind it does Not Let Go

fortunately that didnt really happen with hitachiins to fruit brothers,, probably because there really wasn't much content for me to consume. i could rewatch the anime and it would last a few episodes, there's a fandom, but bullet train Just came out so there wasn't much of a fandom yet, and it wouldnt be on digital (or soap2day hehe) for a couple months or so.

anyway i really like that movie if you couldn't tell !!! personally i recommend it but fair warning its very gorey/bloody/violent (in that strange comedic way- think deadpool or kingsman) and made me CRY. like just sob. so the emotional damage was real but i loved it anyway

idk what it is that makes me love brother characters so much. i feel like its just so sweet to be to have siblings that are just ,, always there for each other. they grew up together, they've had each other through everything, good and bad, and they've survived at each other's side. they trust each other with their lives, even if they can't trust anyone else. its more than just a best friend thing too, because its an irreplaceable bond. its just,,, ougjfjhhjh its my favorite .

also i FEEL the dropping out of the other thing, altho mine is usually a slowish transition and i still make content for my other fixations occasionally......i p much dropped out of the AA hyperfixation but i still do love seeing fan art and reading fics it's just not my number 1 thing anymore (altho i will ALWAYS be down to talk abt it especially aa4.). i like to keep it around tho like all my other hyperfixations....just to revist every now and again. And to an extent asoryuu still has such a Grip on me. except certain hyperfixs i abandon Forever for one reason or another (not naming names but longtime followers maybe know the Big Two/derogatory im referring to)

I may put it on my to watch list (i have so many movies on there bro...) bc tho im squeamish with blood n gore on screen, i may enjoy it. I will look more into it :eyes:

Ok look even i realize i cant make a post like that before elaborating so as someone who has an art degree, was groomed themselves and was raised by someone who worked with teenagers who were groomed specifically for 20 years, heres my take on why tumblrs mentality towards fiction (&real degeneracy) is wrong and what you can do to help victims

Im gonna leave out the whole "fiction = reality" shit because at this point everyone knows it doesnt, they just cherry pick where to believe it does. This is not a black and white issue. Fiction may bring up something that was already there, but since none of us are shooting celebs because of books or molesting animals cause furry shit exists, its safe to say theres a line. 1000s of teen boys idealize that one dipshit from fight club. 99% grow out of it. The few that dont were already fucked up and wouldve ended up blowing some shit up either way. No, ao3 is not normalizing pedophilia and you are in no way helping victims. Youre kind of being a detriment.

Pedophiles may use fiction to groom kids, but they did that before fandom existed as well. There is no big difference between using fiction of 2 teens vs fiction of 2 adults to groom a kid cause a pedophile will either say "youre so much more mature than these fictional kids" or "youre so mature for your age you might as well be an adult, i think this fictional adult couple really represents us" and the minor will still take it as a compliment because that is the point of the action. The reason the abusers can take advantage of them is because they want that validation, for reasons listed below. The form that validation comes in doesnt matter.

Tumblrs mentality is purely focused on outrage. Its about hating the perpetrators and pretending people who arent perpetrators actually are, not about helping the victims.

People here have a wrong idea of what a relationship between a minor & pedophile looks like & how they function. People forget that while to us normal people the minors come across as victims in a horrifying situation (which they are), to the minors themselves it doesnt look anything like that. The problem with many of these relationships is not that the minors dont know what theyre doing or are doing it against their will, the problem most of the time is that they, in their minds, are active participants who choose to do this.

Pedos often actively look for kids in fragile situations. No self esteem, bad home life, severe depression. These are the reasons kids want the validation i listed before. Theyre vulnerable to it because they dont get any of it anywhere else and here theres an adult figure just giving it to them.

The point of a grooming is to give the kid validation and make the kid rely on them. To make the kid believe that the adult is the only one who understands them. Its to put the responsibility of the abusers mental wellbeing on the kids' shoulders in the kids' head. And 99% of the time kids already have a close relationship with the abuser when it gets to that point because of aforementioned validation. They create codependency.

So you know what angrily screeching "pedophile!" at any adult interacting on any level with a teenager does? It gives the abuser a reason to call themselves the victim and itll give the minor, whos likely already reluctant to be open about something an abuser does making them uncomfortable because many of them already have low self esteem and dont trust their own judgment and are scared of the consequences (for example: losing what to them is the only person that understands them) even less likely to talk about it. Because regardless of what tumblr thinks, most of these kids do not realize theyre being abused until much later. Theyre not waiting for someone to give them an out.

And no, no matter how hard you try, youre never gonna convince teens that the person theyre talking to is abusing them. Almost every single victim talks about how they hate abusers but how theirs isnt one, adults included. Theyre just misunderstood, or lonely, or really didnt mean it like that. Teens arent gonna listen to randos on the internet trying to convince them the 23yo who "relies on them for help and who is only in love with them, a 15yo, because theyre just really special and cool" is an abuser. Teens are gonna do stuff behind the back of others and lie about it because teens have a really bad case of "dont tell me what to do" syndrome.

What you CAN do to help teens:

- vote for more funding to health care, specifically mental health care. I know everyone rags on cps but cps does not take away children for no reason and will ALWAYS strife to work it out with the parents by offering personal help if possible

- strife to create a safe space for teens to talk about their experiences. Demonizing any adult interacting with children, no matter how creepy it may seem to you or me, makes the victims more reluctant to come forward. Theyre abuse victims. Adult abuse victims dont respond well to "girl youre being abused leave him!!" either. They respond a lot better to "wow dont you think he shouldnt treat you like that? Dont you think your feelings matter and hes being unfair to you?". You need to demonize the actions, not the context of the relationship because teens have already decided the context itself is fine and its usually not what they have a problem with and they wont till theyre older, no matter how hard you try to convince them.

- giving teens safe spaces to learn/talk about sex and what is or isnt right in a relationship. Most pedophiles are not stable. Theyre often codependent or manipulative or overbearing. Teach kids how to recognize these signs and that theyre not ok.

What doesnt help teens:

- taking down ao3 or yelling that some horndog on twitter drew an adult character looking too young. Taboo fiction is not linked to actual degeneracy and doesnt normalize any of it and is not a more succesful tool to help groom kids than anything else. Pretending it is will make minors less likely to seek help tho because the fear of backlash as stated above.

relationship guidelines - this one is a manhwa about these 2 girls who have been friends since they were born !!! myeong in is aloof and rarely shows her emotions and is 'cold hearted' and ji won is cute and quirky and super flirty and overall a dumbass 101, somehow they find themselves kissing eachother and their relationship becomes ........ something they cant seem to understand themselves jsdhdkjh, i rly love this manhwa its so funny and so pretty and the characters r so fun and relatable its so lovely !!!! the pacing is so good too

not so shoujo love story - fellas this one . this one is SO good omfg its the funniest webtoon ever like the humour is just complete crack kldhkjh, its abt a 'delinquent' girl called rei who is in love w her senior (called ...ochinchin ... because... he has a massive chin..) and she rly rly wants ur typical shoujo style romance, only, plot twist the one whos in love w her isnt the cool popular senpai guy (who might be ??an alien??) but the perfect pretty vice president hanna !!!! its SO so cute also super slowburn and SO wholesome , also theres so much tension between hanna and rei i dshjsdhfh, the art style is GORGEOUS and the writing is amazing and i just . its a masterpiece pls read it, altho its hilarious its also ... so gentle and so loving i :')

she is still cute today - a slice of life abt wholesome puppy qi lin who is kinda an outcast and how she befriends a girl called cang shu, someone who prioritises her grades over everything else, to the point she barely has a life. its a story abt how they positively influence eachothers lives for the better and heal with eachother through their simple everyday school life(also mega mega mega slowburn, theyre friends rn but also ... gfs somehow lol)  :) its v funny ad cute and pretty also theres a bonus mlm side couple that r rly funny lol, they have a rly gay friendship group and its SO cute and wholesome 

tamen de gushi - i havent caught up w this in ages rip sdhjdsh but its just a cute slice of life abt 2 girls who befriend eachother and one of them has a HUGEEEEEE crush on the other, v v v v wholesome !!!!

still sick! - oh my god . this one is a masterpiece..... its a manga that revolves around shimizu, this super dorky girl that has a secret hobby of drawing doujinshi of her fave wlw ships lmao, and her work place colleague, maekawa, finds out about her secret hobby and barges into her everyday life and changes it in a way that she'll never expect ! from the synopsis it sounds p average but god the LAYERS this manga has . it deals w burn outs and love for drawings and has such wonderful characterisation and writing and the characters r so vibrant and fun and !!!!! the romance !!!!! they r so so so cute like i genuinely got butterflies at this kssdhkjdsh

soulmate - this manhua is so unique !! so its abt this girl who switches body w her teenage self, so she gets to experience falling in love with her lover all over again whilst her teenage self finds herself, 27 years old, and dating a girl ????!!! it deals with regret and first love and loneliness and dreams and just . i was v cautious abt this one because it could get weird but it was so beautiful and respectful and so .. melancholy and yet cute and joyful... the art is also so pretty !!!

bloom into you - this one’s an anime and its about a girl called yuu who believes she isn’t capable of falling in love even though she always longed to have that feeling, and then she meets her senpai, touko. somehow they get into a relationship where they brush hands and kiss secretly in the student council room after school and know all of eachothers secrets, touko tells her not to fall in love with her and yet yuu... doesn’t even understand her own feelings. ok as for vibes, its just TENDER tender TE n d er and . sad and it will make u so touch starved oh my god. its a very beautiful story and the soundtrack, colours and general vibe of the story is so nice and the characters r so freaking well written u will melt, i rly rly love this anime alot lmao its one of the very few romance anime i really adore, it doesn’t feel cringey at all and all the characters feel so painfully real ? its so good !!!!!!!!!!

that time I was blackmailed by the class’ green tea bitch - ok ok ik the title sounds wack but this is actually one of my faves rn, it’s just the softest cutest high school love story and it’s the perfect amount of funny and adorable and the art is also super cute and the relationship with the mc and her mum is so cute I’m 🥺 also it goes into other topics like academic pressure and loneliness (not too deeply tho) and it’s just a v good read … as of now it’s ongoing and has 17 chapters :)

i have some more i havent read yet :’) but these ones r 10/10 i hope u enjoy them !!!
