Note
the beginning scene in frozen when anna and elsa play in the castle with elsa's magical powers except it's sophie and amy, and instead of hurting her sister with ice powers, sophie accidently inflicts on amy (maybe when the playing somehow turns into fighting) (aka the memory sophie gets back in legacy)
oo yes lets bring back the frozen comparisons with Sophie and Amy!! I don't remember everything that was said in the two links on my masterpost, but!! I remember loving looking at the characters side by side!! (also I think I got a little off track so feel free to send another ask redirecting me as needed!!)
This scene specifically is really interesting because we can focus more on their relationship in one instance of it instead of trying to average out who they are as a whole. the two scenes are actually like mirrors of each other, the same thing appearing to happen just backwards
In the memory Sophie gets back from Forkle, she remembers playing with her sister and then getting really upset over something and needing to get that pressure out of her head. Shoving it out, she inflicts on her sister, something neither of them remember for years. Her powers are a well kept secret as she tries to fit in with her family. In the beginning scene of Frozen, Anna and Elsa are playing together when Anna gets overly excited and starts moving faster than Elsa can keep up until she accidentally hits her with her powers in an attempt to save her, injuring her though Anna doesn't remember it.
Sophie's powers were hidden, Elsa's were known. Both were playing together, having fun, but ultimately the reason the injuries happened were opposite each other. Elsa accidentally hit Anna's head in an attempt to save her from a fall, trying to protect her. Sophie accidentally inflicted on Amy because the pressure in her head was too much for her, so in an attempt to protect herself she shoved it out, not knowing what she was capable of or what she was doing.
I do like how you've made the connection to Sophie's sandcastles and growing up near the beach with Elsa's ice and growing up playing with that with her sister. it's a connection the sisters have with each other that's mirrored in the characters, and each one is like a twisted turn of events where it could happen to each other. Elsa could've accidentally frozen Anna out of anger if they started fighting, and Sophie could've been in a situation where she thought Amy was in danger and hurt her inflicting on the others in the area.
the two share a fear and lack of understanding with their power, completely alone with it and not knowing how to control them, something these beginning scenes start to introduce. And then there are their sisters, completely oblivious to what happens to them and why their older sisters are closed off the way they are, why they're so different. Though Sophie's world is filled with a lot more light and warmth, and Elsa's with chills, the way they interact with that world is similar. They are unprecedented, misunderstood, targeted. They have entire futures with these powers, and hurting their sisters is the beginning to a lot of it for the both of them. Sophie does have the 5yo hitting her head and boom telepathy thing, but her inflicting manifesting is still significant enough to make the comparison.
I don't really know where I'm going with this so I'll stop there. There are a lot of similarities between Sophie + Amy's relationship and Elsa + Anna's relationship, especially with the manifestation of their powers. I haven't seen the movies in a while so I'm sure there's more I'm missing about the beginning scene, but it's really cool to look at so thank you for bringing it up!!

More Frozen 3 Stuff
So, my basic idea for the Bad Guys side plot of my hypothetical Frozen 3/Frozen TV show is this:
The old soldier Voland is seeking to unlock something held with a magic mirror, currently protected by enchantment laid with the help of the previous 5th Spirit (who I'll explain more about in the next part where I do the Heroes storyline) and the four Elemental Spirit Gaurdians.
In order to break their enchntments, Voland needs to obtain four magical items capable of binding the Spirits. For this purpose he has gathered four people with special skills and connections that can help him gain the items, and who are desperate enough to bidn themsleves to him.
The four itmes he seeks are an ancient lantern crafted to hold the hottest Fire, a silver bridle string enough to tame even the rolling raging Sea, a bag gifted to hold the wildest Wind and a bell that rings deep enough to rock the foundations of the Earth.
Tumblr media
Each of these items would correspond to an Elemental Spirit Gaurdian, each of whom will be encountered by Elsa on her journey to discover what it mean to be the 5th Spirit (yes its basically kinda Avatar but when youre working with an Elemental Magic system you run that risk).
Elsa's main guide on this journey will be Vand, the Spirit of Water, who we've already met in his horse form as the Nokk (credit to @im-fairly-whitty who created his human form and name based off of Scandinavian folklore where the Nokk had the human form of a man playing a violin).
Everyone has a an element they're most linked to, and Elsa's is Water, always deeper then you think, and linked to eternal transformation. Thus Vand will be her spirit guide on her journey.
Dovregubben is the Mountain King, lord of all the Earth spirits, suck as the rock giants and the trolls. He dwells within Miner's Mountain beyond Elsa's Ice Palace.
Then there's Tuuletar, the true name of Gale the Wind Spirit, who prefers to tak the form of a woman outlined in leaves when they deign to take human form.
And finally there is Norrsken, the eldest of the Salamnaders who's flame is the echo Northern Lights itself.
Tumblr media
For fun here's a size comparison of them all worh Vand in human form/size for scale.( Both Wind and Water are able to change their size as needed )
Tumblr media
Since this is a passion project for fun I get to make it the movie/show I'd want, and I wnt some actual Disney crossovers. So my idea for the heist plot the Bad Guys are on is this. First, they have to travel to Glowerhaven, home of Princess Ida, where the journal of one Herz deSonne of Corona has washed up and is in the process of being transcribed and restored before being returned to Corona. The book has the locations of the other items they need, and Hans, with his knowledge of court and ways of twisting people, is sent in to gain it, where he runs into the far too perseptive Princess Ida, who's insight into his psychology rattles him, and is what begins the first crack that launches his eventually Redemption Arc.
Each location afterwards would focus on learning more about the other members of the group and slowly building up the mystery of Voland and his ultimate goals as well as the slow burn of Han's Redemption as he both has informative exprinces as he helps steal each item, and realizes just how much like Voland he could turn out if he continuesto follow this path, and how little he truly wants that (also his slow burn enemies to friends to lovers relationship with Karen).
The Lantern is the Spire which Rapunzel once discovered in her own series, and would be a Hans centric episode, and might have a cameo with a now married with children Rapunzel and Eugene.
The Bell is located in the Kingdom of Peltinore, where we'd learn more about the sadisitic Inge and how her cruelty landed her in the Dark Realm, which she only escaped with Voland's help, as well as meeting a young Prince Charming, pre-Cinderella.
The Bridle is located in the Kingdom of Equis, ruled by the boorish King Trevor, where we'd also learn more about Skyggen and hia tragic backstory of how his magical experiments ended up with hia own shadow stealing his life and his desperation to regain it with Voland's help.
Finally, the Bag of Winds (as seen before in my Canon Descendants Little Mermaid story) is located in the kingdom of Tirulia, where Hans and Karen must face the questions, riddles ( and knife )of a strange statue, and we learn of Karen's story as a lonely young orphan who only wanted to be pretty as the young Princess Ida, and foolishly accepted a pair of red dancing shoes given to her by an old soldier, that she's never been able to get free of since.
The Mirror of course is to be found in Atohallan, where the final battle between Elsa and her family and Voland and his minions will take place...

The Once & Future Queen Pt.30
Tumblr media
Camelot. (Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin and the Knights ride out of Camelot toward an unspecified destination. Over hill, through valley and beyond, they come upon a cliff overlooking the Impenetrable Forest.) Lancelot: “Where now?” Merlin: “Through the Impenetrable Forest.” Gwaine: “But it’s. . .” Elyan: “Impenetrable.” Gwaine: “We can’t possibly get through there?” Merlin: “We must.” The Impenetrable Forest. (The group make their way slowly through the forest, cutting away at the branches in their path. Gwaine manages to rip his cloak on the thorns, leaving a piece of it behind. Everyone stares at him while he frantically thrashes around in an attempt to free himself.) Gwaine: (Composing himself:) “Keep going.” (Everyone smiles and continues on through the forest.) Meanwhile, In Another Forest. (While Morgana rides, she drags a bound Anastasia by the hands behind her horse. Breathing heavily, Anastasia collapses onto the forest floor. Dismounting, Morgana walks over and offers Anastasia a drink from a canteen.) Morgana: “Here.” (Anastasia glances at the canteen but does not accept it.) Anastasia: “I don’t want anything from you.” Morgana: “Drink it. You may need it.” Anastasia: “Why?” Morgana: “I would not be in such a hurry to know.” (Morgana lifts her arm and pours all the water out of the canteen onto the ground. Remounting her horse, Morgana continues to drag Anastasia along on their journey.)
Tumblr media
Arendelle. Forest. (After a quick trip across the sea, Regina and Emma have journeyed to Arendelle to seek advice from their friends.) Emma: "Are you sure Kristoff will be all right watching Maria by himself?" Anna: "Oh sure, he's very capable. Plus it'll help him get used to the idea of having a baby around." Emma: "Ohh, so you're feeling a little broody huh?" Anna: "Maybe... and besides, Maria will need some friends to play with someday." (As the foursome continue walking through the woods, the conversation turns to Elsa and Anna's childhood.) Regina: "So you were forced to hide your magic from others and made to keep away from your sister?" Elsa: "Yes and no. My parents knew of my powers from an early age and, while they may not have openly encouraged it, they were supportive. It was only after the accident with Anna that they became concerned." Anna: "An accident I still don't remember by the way." Elsa: "Well I do and my parents were right. I could've killed you, Anna. That's why I chose to lock myself away, for fear of hurting the people I love again." Emma: "I’ve been there. I know when my magic was out of control and accidentally struck Henry, all I wanted to do was keep as far away from people as possible." Regina: "Yes, but as you now know, that wasn't the answer. Your parents told you to conceal your magic because they didn't understand it, Elsa. That won't be the case for Maria. Whatever problems or accidents that occur, we'll be ready for." Elsa: "I hope you're right. I still shudder to think what would've happened if not for Grand Pabbie." Anna: "Speaking of which, we're almost there, come on." Valley of the Living Rock. (Eventually, they reach the valley and Anna calls out.) Anna: "Grand Pabbie, it's us." (Nothing happens for a moment as the four women stand around waiting and then a large boulder rolls towards them, revealing itself to be the leader of the trolls.) Grand Pabbie: "Oh, Anna, how wonderful to see you again. And I notice you've brought some new faces with you." Anna: (Smiles:) "Grand Pabbie, these are our friends Emma and Regina." Grand Pabbie: "Ah yes, the ones who united the realms and will one day do so again." (Regina and Emma look to each other confused by this statement.) Anna: "Grand Pabbie, they seek your help." Grand Pabbie: "Well I would be honoured to help you ladies." (Taking Emma's hand, Regina steps forward and gives a polite bow.) Regina: "We are the ones who are honoured, Grand Pabbie." Grand Pabbie: (Chuckles:) "It is remarkable how far you've come, Queen Regina. I can feel the lightness of your energy pouring out of you, matched only by that of your wife, Queen Emma." Emma: (Smiles:) "Well flattery will get you everywhere, but I'm no queen." Grand Pabbie: "Of course not, at least not yet. But enough of my musings, you came to me with questions?" Regina: "Yes. (Glances at Emma then back to him:) We wanted to ask for guidance in regards to our daughter." Grand Pabbie: "Oh yes, the miraculous child known as Maria. What is it you wish to know?" Emma: "Well, the thing is, we've only recently discovered that Maria possesses magic and we wondered what the future holds for her?" Grand Pabbie: "I see. Why is it so important for you to know?" Regina: "We realise she holds great power and we wanted to know if it was light or dark magic that she possesses." Grand Pabbie: (Chuckles:) "Well that is easy. There can be no doubt that Maria was born of both light and dark magic, just like the connection between you both feeds the strength of your combined powers. A power so great that it is unrivaled by everything that has come before it. However, if you wish for me to see into the child's future, I would have to be in her presence, but I urge you to let the future remain unwritten. I fear you humans put too much stock in prophesy and I do not desire to be responsible for another child's fate." Regina: (Sighs:) "Thank you, Grand Pabbie. I believe you're right. Knowing too much about the future can lead to terrible things." Grand Pabbie: "Wise words, Your Majesty. Is there anything else you wish to ask me?" Emma: "Actually... I was wondering if you could tell me more about what happened in Ingrid's past?" Regina: "Ingrid?" Emma: (Nods:) "Since she gave me back my memories and after everything we went through, I've always been curious to know just what happened to cause the Snow Queen so much pain." (Anna and Elsa step forward.) Elsa: "I think we'd both be curious to know too." Anna: "She was our aunt after all." Grand Pabbie: "Very well, that I can show you, but I give fair warning, it is not a happy tale. If you would all take each other's hand, we can begin." (Anna, Elsa, Emma and Regina all hold hands and at the moment Emma and Elsa take Grand Pabbie's, the vision of Ingrid's past plays out before their eyes.)
Tumblr media
Arendelle. Past. (In the castle's garden, Ingrid sits clutching the urn and her new blue gloves.) The Duke: (Approaches:) “Ah, the Golden Crocus. A mysterious flower that blooms only for those who are willing to wait. I don't believe we've had the pleasure.” Ingrid: “Ingrid. (She curtseys:) You must be here for Helga. I'll go and fetch her for you.” The Duke: (Blocks her path and Ingrid drops her gloves:) “Yeah, I-I'd heard rumors of this mysterious third sister, but I had to see her for myself.” Ingrid: “Oh.” (Attempts to retrieve her gloves but the Duke advances on her.) The Duke: “The stories did not lie. You are more beautiful and intriguing than I could have ever imagined. Did I say that out loud? (Chuckles:) Of course I did. Oh, you are enchanting.” (He tries to kiss her.) Ingrid: “Oh, no. Don't do this.” The Duke: “Helga will never know.” Ingrid: “She loves you.” The Duke: “But it's you that I want, you mysterious flower... The Queen to be.” (He holds her.) Ingrid: “No, no, no, no, no, no! Get back!” (She pushes him away with her magic, sending him flying across the ground.) The Duke: “What dark sorcery is this? Stay away from me!” Ingrid: “Please, don't tell anyone. Please. This has to be our secret.” Helga: (Arriving:) “Ingrid. Ingrid, what's going on here?” The Duke: “Your sister started kissing me. She told me she loved me. And when I rebuffed her, she tried to kill me with... With her magic.” Ingrid: “No! Helga, no.” Helga: “Thank you, Duke.” Ingrid: “That is not...” Helga: “Thank you for showing me what a... Liar and a scoundrel you are, and for saving me the trouble of considering taking your worthless hand in marriage.” The Duke: “How dare you?” Helga: “We shall see to it that your diplomatic mission here is over. And we shall send you straight back to Weaselton.” The Duke: “It's pronounced ‘Wesel-ton.’ And I am its Duke, and I do not take orders from you. Believe me, when Arendelle learns the truth about her, they shall side with me.” Helga: “Ingrid is my sister, and I love her for who she is. And so shall everyone else.” The Duke: “Really? Is this why you hide her away from balls and royal dinners? Why no one has ever laid eyes on this freak?” Helga: “You are out of line, ‘Weasel-ton.’” The Duke: “Mock me all you want, but the people deserve to know what their future Queen is. Before I'm through, all of Arendelle will know your secret. And when they find out how dangerous your sister really is, you won't have to hide her any longer because they'll lock her up and throw away the key.” Helga: “Enough!” The Duke: “Because that is the only fate befitting a monster.” Ingrid: “Stop!” (Ingrid uses her power to hurt the Duke but Helga protects him and she is hit by her sisters magic.) Helga: “No!” Ingrid: “N-no! No! Helga! Helga, no. Helga.” Helga: “Ohh.” Ingrid: “Helga. Helga, hey. I'm so sorry. H-Helga... No. I... No! No! No! No! (Helga freezes to death:) What have I done?” (While the Duke runs for his life, Gerda arrives.) Gerda: “Ingrid? Ingrid, what happened? Where's Hel...” Ingrid: “I didn't mean to.” Gerda: “What did you do? What did you do?!” Ingrid: “I was trying to stop the Duke. It was an accident. You have to believe me.” Gerda: “You stay away from me. Stay!” Ingrid: “No! No. Please... Please, don't be afraid. We said that we would always be there for each other. We made a promise. I love you. Gerda, please, you have to help me. Take my hand. Please take my hand. You're all I have left.” Gerda: “Ingrid... You killed our sister. You're... You're a monster.” Ingrid: “No, G-Gerda, no. (Gerda takes the urn and traps Ingrid:) No! No!” The Dark Tower. Present. (Anastasia begins walking up a long flight of stairs with Morgana following her, holding a torch.) Morgana: “Keep moving.” Anastasia: “Where are you taking me?” Morgana: “You’ll find out.” (They climb the stairs all the way to the top of the tower. Morgana opens a door and Anastasia steps inside.) Anastasia: “What is this place?” Morgana: “Sleep well.” Anastasia: “Morgana. . .?” (Anastasia runs towards the door just as Morgana slams it shut, locking her inside. Anastasia turns and walks further into the room.) Forest. Recent Past. Night. (Guinevere walks alone in the forest, she passes by a tree and moments later Morgana steps out from it.) Morgana: “Guinevere.” Guinevere: (Stops, then slowly turns around:) “Thank you for meeting with me.” Morgana: “Your message was unexpected. After all these years, you still do intrigue me so, Guin.”
Tumblr media
Guinevere: “After all we’ve shared, I’m glad I can still surprise you.” Morgana: “Indeed. And is that why you called me here, to lure me into a surprise attack?” Guinevere: “Would you still be here if you sensed any danger?” Morgana: “Then why am I here?” Guinevere: “I wanted to thank you.” Morgana: (Scoffs:) “For what?” Guinevere: “For sparing my life. You could have easily killed me back in those woods and yet you didn’t.” Morgana: “A rare oversight on my part.” Guinevere: “No, you knew what you were doing. In your own distinct way you chose to protect me. It was in that moment I knew the real Morgana was still in there somewhere.” Morgana: “You can’t possibly be this naive.” Guinevere: “You can protest all you like, but I know there’s good inside you, Morgana. That’s why I won’t stand by and watch you destroy yourself even further.” Morgana: “Merlin is the one destined to destroy me and yet you house him in the castle.” Guinevere: “I’m aware of the prophesy and I will do everything in my power to prevent that from happening.” Morgana: “Really. So is that why you wanted that sword from the Lady in the Lake?” Guinevere: “The sword is not meant for you.” Morgana: (Laughs:) “Oh no, of course not.” Guinevere: “I would never see harm come to you, Morgana, I swear it. I’ll prove it to you.” Morgana: “And how do you intend to do that?” Guinevere: “Lancelot rallies his men to find you, even as we speak. There is no place near that is safe for you right now.” Morgana: “I am aware of it. I have plans to travel far beyond Camelot’s reach.” Guinevere: “Regardless, it is only a matter of time before Lancelot and his men find you. And when the time comes, I shall send warning, giving you ample time to escape.” Morgana: “You would defy your beloved Lancelot to save my life?” Guinevere: “I owe you that much.” Morgana: (Chuckles:) “Oh Guin, such noble words. You’ll forgive me if I find them hard to believe.” (Guinevere gives her a look. A horses whinnies in the distance as a patrol approaches.) Guinevere: “Go!” (Guinevere pulls her hood up and runs off back towards the castle. Morgana calmly walks the other way. Gwaine arrives in the clearing, and spots the hooded figure running. Turning his horse, Gwaine heads the direction Guinevere went. As he passes, Morgana magically pulls Gwaine off his horse, sending him crashing the the forest floor and knocking him unconscious. Meanwhile,  Guinevere makes it out of the woods and straightens her cloak and walks back to the castle.) The Sacred Cave. Present. (Having navigated through the Impenetrable Forest, Lancelot and Guinevere enter a cave. Walking cautiously through the darkness, they turn as one at the sound of an aged woman’s voice.) Dochraid: “Who dares enter the sacred cave?” Guinevere: “We come to petition the Dochraid.” Dochraid: “Give me your hand. (Guinevere takes a step forward but is stopped by Lancelot who offers his own hand. The Dochraid takes it, sniffs it and pushes his hand away in disgust:) I smell the stench of enmity.” Guinevere: “We come in peace. In friendship.” Dochraid: “You are no friend of the Old Religion.”
Tumblr media
Guinevere: “Great Dochraid, I am a friend of Morgana Pendragon.” Dochraid: “Silence! I know you, Guinevere. I will have no part in your plans.” Guinevere: “How do you know why I’ve come here?” Dochraid: “I am the Dochraid. The Earth speaks to me. You are not welcome here. Depart!” Guinevere: “Oh, I cannot do that. Not until I have what I came for.” Dochraid: “You dare challenge me, the ancient Dochraid? You? A puny Queen?” Lancelot: (Steps forward once more:) “And yet we will have what we came for.” Dochraid: “I am a creature of the Earth. You cannot kill me.” (Lancelot draws his sword and shows it to the Dochraid, who recoils in fear.) Lancelot: “This sword was forged in a dragon’s breath and it will do my bidding.” Dochraid: “You do not have the power to wield such a weapon.” (Lancelot swings the sword and slices the Dochraid’s arm. She cries out in pain and covers the wound with her hand.) Guinevere: “Please, we wish you no further harm, Dochraid. Tell me what I need to know.” Dochraid: “Your friend is doomed, Guinevere. Her spirit has been consumed by the Teine Diaga. Bound by the silver wheel for all eternity. Her body is nothing but an empty vessel filled by the will of another.” Guinevere: “By another? Do you mean Morgause?” Dochraid: “Regardless, Morgana has been set on a path to claim the throne of Camelot and will stop at nothing to achieve her goal.” Guinevere: “How do I break this spell?” Dochraid: “Only the greatest of sorcerers can attempt such a thing.” (Lancelot points the sword at the Dochraid again and she recoils in fear.) Lancelot: “Merlin, the greatest sorcerer who ever lived travels with us, he can break any spell. All we need to know is how?” Dochraid: “You must travel to the Cauldron of Arianrhod. There you will need all of your powers, for you must summon the White Goddess herself.” (Lancelot brings the sword closer to the Dochraid.) Lancelot: “And that is all?” Dochraid: “No. Morgana must enter the Cauldron. Its waters hold the Goddess’ power. Only their touch can heal her. Remember, Morgana must enter the water willingly. If she is tricked, forced or beguiled, she will fall into the abyss and be lost forever.” (Lancelot lowers his sword.) Guinevere: “Thank you, Great Dochraid. Thank you.” (Guinevere and Lancelot turn to leave the cave but the Dochraid uses her magic to throw a dagger at Lancelot’s back. Lancelot turns and uses his sword to block the blow, then using the blade to strike the Dochraid once more. She cries out in agony and crumples to the floor. Guinevere looks down at her for a moment before Lancelot takes her arm and leads them out of the cave.) The Dark Tower. (Anastasia is laying on the floor when liquid from a mandrake root above her drips onto her face. Anastasia sits up and sees mandrake roots all around her. A cacophony of shrieks and screams fills her ears. She crawls on the floor trying to distance herself somehow from the screaming when the door opens and Morgana walks in.) Morgana: “Come. . .let us have something to eat.” (Morgana leads Anastasia out of the room and she quickly follows.) Arendelle. Dining Room. (Returning to the palace, the foursome reunite with Kristoff and Maria. Taking a seat at the table, Emma speaks with Elsa while Regina allows Anna to spend some time with Maria.) Regina: "I hope she didn't give you any trouble?" Kristoff: "Nothing I couldn't handle. (When Anna looks to him eagerly:) Uh... but then you were only really gone for about an hour." Regina: (Smiles:) “Relax, Emma and I won't be leaving Maria here overnight anytime soon." Anna: "Oh but you will stay tonight, won't you?" Regina: "Well, we didn't want to impose..." Anna: "Nonsense. We have rooms for days, we'd love for you to stay over." (Regina looks over to Emma who nods.) Regina: "Then we'd be honoured." Lily: (Entering:) "That'll make a nice change." Elsa: (Rising from the table to welcome her:) "Lily!"
Tumblr media
Lily: (To Regina:) "I mean it'll save you and Emma from having to find some random room where you can fu-" Elsa: (Wrapping her arms around Lily:) "What took you so long, I thought you were coming straight from work?" Lily: "I was, then as I was leaving I got a call about some disturbance." Regina: "A disturbance, in Storybrooke?" Lily: "I know, shocking right? It was at your vault in fact." Emma: (Joining them:) "The vault?" Lily: "Yeah, turns out it was nothing, just some false alarm." Regina: "Well that's a relief." Lily: "Yeah, but I'll tell ya, your sister has quite the attitude problem." Emma: "Zelena? What was she doing there?" Lily: "I don't know, but she accused me of trespassing before kicking me out." Emma: (Closes her eyes:) "As tactful as ever." Regina: "Thanks for checking it out, Sheriff." Lily: "Hey, not so loud, we don't want to jinx it." Emma: "Oh I have a feeling the job's as good as yours." Elsa: (Clasping her hands together, smiling:) "Well I'm starving, let's eat." (With a general murmur of approval, everyone takes their seats at the table.) The Dark Tower. (Sitting amongst the cobwebs, Morgana serves Anastasia some food at the large dining table.) Morgana: “Eat. Here. Food always makes me feel better. Would you prefer some chicken?. . .You must eat. You are fading away.” Anastasia: “I don’t know what cruel trick you are playing but I will not be broken by you.” Morgana: “I thought this would be nice. I know how lonely you must be. All by yourself in that room. At least you’re not shackled, there’s daylight, you can move, you can see. That’s a lot more than your sister was afforded in my hovel.” Anastasia: “You expect me to be grateful?” Morgana: “I too have suffered Anastasia. I spent years living in darkness. I would have sold my soul for someone to show me kindness such as this. Do you want me to take you back up there?” (Anastasia shakes her head and reaches out for a small bread roll. Watching her take a bite, Morgana smiles and pours the wine.)
Tumblr media
The Impenetrable Forest. Night. (Guinevere, Lancelot and the knights are all sleeping in the forest while Merlin watches over them. Being immortal and with no need for sleep, Merlin continues his meditation. Opening his eyes, Merlin’s attention is drawn to something in the bushes. Glancing back at his sleeping companions, Merlin follows the fluttering sound through the woods. Only when he is out of sight from camp does the winged creature reveal herself to him.) Queen Mab: “Welcome to my realm, Merlin.” Merlin: “Who are you?” Queen Mab: “Why, I’m Queen Mab. I am the spirit of this place. And all the places that bring despair to men’s hearts. Few have ever seen me, Merlin, you should count yourself fortunate.” Merlin: “You... everything in this forest, it’s bewildering.” Queen Mab: “The forest is but one step on the journey.” Merlin: (Crouches down so that he is eye to eye with the forest spirit:) “How do we find a way out?” Queen Mab: “Oh powerful one... you should not have to ask. Left is right and right is left. And the way behind is the way ahead. It is simple.” Merlin: (Scoffs:) “Oh...simple.” Queen Mab: “You have a minds eye, Merlin. You must learn to trust in it. For far greater challenges lie ahead.” Merlin: “When we reach the Dark Tower?” Queen Mab: “If...” Merlin: “What do you mean?” Queen Mab: “You must beware Merlin, the tower is not a real place. It is the heart’s rest. The mind’s deepest fear. The stillness in a humming bird’s eye...” Merlin: “Stop, talking in riddles.” Queen Mab: “Then I shall speak in rhyme. Heed my words which you concern, for one of you will not return.” Merlin: “What do you mean? (Queen Mab chuckles gleefully. Merlin looks back towards camp:) Which one? (When he turns back, Queen Mab has disappeared. Hearing more rustling coming from his left, Merlin stands ready:) Show yourself.” (Much to his surprise, Merlin sees not a forest spirit but instead, with her bow in hand, Merida steps out of the darkness.) Arendelle. (Regretting her decision to stay in the dining room to talk with Lily while Regina put Maria to bed, Emma now finds herself lost and wandering the halls of the palace.) Emma: (Muttering to herself:) "This is god-damn ridiculous. (Knocks on a door and peers inside. Finding no one, she closes it and continues on:) Who needs a palace this big? (She tries another door with much the same result:) You would think one ball room would be sufficient for anyone's needs, but oh no, not here in Arendelle, they're just ball crazy apparently. Gotta have at least three ball rooms or the people might not take their Queen seriously. (Opens a door and closes it:) Balls. (Another door:) Balls. (Yet another door:) Balls. (No luck:) All right, deep breath Emma, you can do this. (She breathes deeply and slowly exhales before continuing her journey down the long hallway, passing several doors and pointing to each one as she goes:) Eeny, meeny, miny moe, Catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers, let him go, Eeny, meeny, miny moe. Pig snout you're... (Coming to the last door on the left:) out! (Sighs:) Well, here goes nothing." (Emma approaches the door and knocks.) Regina: (From inside:) "Come in." Emma: (Greatly relieved, turns the handle and enters the room:) "You would have to choose the furthest room from..." (Emma stops in her tracks when she sees what awaits her. Wearing heels, stockings, suspenders and a bra, Regina stands leaning over the bed, casually reading a book.) Regina: (Looking up:) "Finally." Emma: "Regina, what-" Regina: (Stands up, stretching her back and giving Emma a luscious view of her curves:) "Well, as this is our first official evening spent in the palace, I thought I'd make it special. (Walking towards her:) Had I known you'd take this long talking shop with Lily, I may not have bothered." Emma: (Smiling at the vision before her:) "I'm sorry. This place is humongous and I just got lost. (While Regina walks around her to remove her jacket:) Can you ever forgive me?" Regina: "Hm. I don't know, you did keep me waiting an awfully long time. (Walks around to step before Emma, her arms folded and one foot tapping the floor as she playfully considers accepting Emma's apology:) Perhaps if you were naked I'd be more likely to forgive you?" Emma: (Counters:) "I think if we were both naked we'd each feel better about the whole situation." Regina: "I agree wholeheartedly." Emma: "And, seeing as you've got a head start, I think it only fair if you helped me out of my clothes?" Regina: (Smirks, her hands already unbuckling Emma's jeans:) "Sounds more than fair to me."

My Frozen 2 Ending
AN: I am only going off of what we’ve been told so far - which is actually very little. A lot of the sources are shaky, at best, and I’ve been taking everything with a grain of salt. That said: I thought about the possibility of Elsa having to stay in the forest for whatever reason, and I came up with my own idea of what might happen. I wanted to post it before any more info or trailers come out, because I’m curious to see how close or how far this idea ends up being from the real thing. Anyway, enjoy!
---
Anna watched as the mist surrounded her sister, seemingly pulling Elsa away from her. She called out in desperation. Elsa reached back with just as much distress, but the magical forces that keep the two worlds separate were too great. And in only a few seconds, Anna was alone, standing between the four great stones marking the Unknown.
“Elsa!” she called, praying her sister could still hear her somehow, “Elsa!” She sniffled, then, shoulders beginning to drop in defeat. “Come back to me,” she uttered quietly.
Elsa could still hear Anna. In fact, she could still see her. She was standing right in front of her, but in a different realm. The land of Magic, unseen by mortals. “Anna,” she tried to comfort her sister, but she couldn’t touch her, “I’m still here. Please don’t cry.”
“Come,” a mystic voice said from behind her, “Let us get you settled in your new life.”
Elsa’s eyes narrowed, unable to tear her gaze off her sister. Her hands clenched at her sides, and her mouth morphed into a furious sneer as she gritted her teeth together in anger. She turned to face the Elementals, and stated: “I’m not leaving her.”
“Magic cannot leave this forest,” the Nøkk - the water horse - replied.
“I promised her I would never leave her again,” Elsa shot back, her resolve unwavering.
“You should not make promises you cannot keep,” the Nøkk returned, their unearthly voice showing a hint of condescension, “Now come, Snow Queen.”
Elsa’s magic surged within her as her anger did. “No,” she growled.
The other Elementals were shocked by her tone, looking to each other in amazement. Only the Nøkk remained stoic. “Magic cannot leave this forest,” it said again, taking an intimidating step forward, “And that means you cannot leave.”
Elsa held the horse’s hostile gaze. She had defeated it once, and she was willing to prove that ice could beat water once again. But that would get her nowhere, and Anna wouldn’t wait in the forest much longer.
“Then take it,” she said in a low voice, “Take my magic.”
Finally the horse had an emotional reaction. It cocked it’s head in questioning, and it seemed to raise one eyebrow in skepticism. “You wish to give up the power you possess for this mortal?” it demanded.
“For my sister,” Elsa corrected cooly, “Anything.”
“You do not even know what that will do to you. Living with such magic all your life and suddenly being stripped of it could kill you,” the Nøkk told her.
“I don’t care.”
“But then you will not be with your sister.”
“But there’s a chance that I can be.” Elsa was done arguing. This was her decision, and she wasn’t changing her mind. “I don’t care if I’ll live forever here. I don’t care about infinite knowledge or power. I don’t care if I never make a single snowflake ever again. I care about Anna. And I am not abandoning her. Not again.”
The Nøkk turned to face the other Elementals. After wordlessly agreeing, it turned back. “Your spirit would have made a great addition to this world, Snow Queen,” it told her, “But we will give you what you want. Just know that from here, there is no going back.”
Elsa nodded, bracing for what was to come.
The Elementals’ eyes began to glow. Streaks of light - coloured to represent each of them - erupted from their chests and merged before Elsa, creating a brilliant ball of white light. Once enough magic had gathered, the white light shot toward her, striking her heart and immediately pulling her magic out. The initial hit took her breath away, but then the true agony started as she felt every last iota of magic be ripped from her body. She let out a pained cry as she felt herself weakening and her body warming. The pain was so great that she started to blackout. But just as the world faded away, she locked eyes with her reflection - a woman with pure white hair, striking blue eyes, and an aura of winter surrounding her. And then she collapsed.
---
Anna had slowly turned away and was about to walk away from the stones when a brilliant light appeared from behind her. She whipped around, hoping beyond hope that it was what she thought it was. The light was blinding, and she squinted to see if anyone was coming from it.
And someone did, but rather than walking triumphantly out of the light, they collapsed to the ground in a heap. But the light blue dress was unmistakable. “Elsa!” Anna cried, at first ecstatic. But Elsa wasn’t moving, and something seemed wrong. She pushed forward and dropped to her knees on the ground. “Elsa?” she repeated, this time with worry and desperation.
As her elation disappeared, Anna finally realized what was so unsettling: Elsa’s hair was brown. And there was more colour to her cheeks. “Elsa?” she said, shaking her sister’s shoulder, “Wake up!”
Elsa winced, and with a groan, slowly opened her eyes. Anna couldn’t hide her gasp when she saw not bright blue eyes, but dull, near-grey hazel. “Anna?” Elsa murmured.
“Wh...what happened?” Anna demanded in shock, “Y...your hair and...”
Elsa smiled weakly, and explained simply: “Magic can’t leave the forest.”
“You...you gave up your magic?” Anna gasped, “But... It’s... How could you?”
Elsa merely shrugged, and replied, “I didn’t want to leave you.”
“I...You... You can’t... I...” Anna sputtered. Elsa slowly pushed herself up with a grunt and wordlessly pulled her sister into a tight embrace. It was then that Anna finally found her words: “You stubborn idiot.”
“I promised I wouldn’t leave you,” Elsa breathed, “I’m not breaking that one again.”
“I just... I can’t believe you made that sacrifice for me...”
“...I love you.”
Upon hearing those words, the shock of the situation wore off and the true impact set in. Anna felt sobs rising up and she held her sister tight as tears of joy and relief began to fall. Elsa held her just as close, her mind feeling strangely empty and her body strangely quiet but her heart was still full of love. She had Anna - that’s all that mattered.
Her other half watched on from the magic realm. She still possessed her mortal appearance, but no longer had a corporeal form, instead made up of light and cold and magic. She watched her mortal half embracing her sister and realized that, despite possessing boundless power and strength, she was missing something. Something only her mortal half held within her heart.
“Come,” the Nøkk said, “Let us leave this place.”
It and the other Elementals turned to leave. Elsa’s magic remained, watching two mere human sisters tightly hugging and crying. Feeling. Loving. One of them had just given up the chance to be a god for the other. And the other had at one time defied death itself for her sister. She felt a call from the forest, the same call she had been hearing ever since this journey began. The forest tells her she belongs here. She’ll be accepted here. This is her home.
She watched the pair of sisters and realized that the forest was lying to her.
“No.” Her voice was the same yet different. Distorted by magic, by the cold. It sounded almost foreign to her. But it would help make her point.
The Nøkk stopped in its tracks. “What did you say?” it said menacingly.
“I’m not leaving her either,” she stated, voice unwavering.
The Nøkk turned around. “I will say this one last time,” it warned, “Magic cannot leave this forest.”
“Cannot or does not?” she challenged, “Because it seems to be able to come and go when it’s most convenient.”
The Nøkk glared at her. “Why even care?” it asked of her, “Your mortal half agreed to leave you behind to be with her precious sister. You have no connection to either of them anymore. Yet you still hold your old form. You are free to be whatever you want, whoever you want, yet you still choose to pander to pathetic little humans?”
“I am choosing what I want to be, who I want to be,” she shot back.
“So you wish to go back to that life? A life of tediousness and banality? Where instead of commanding powerful storms and holding mortal life in your hands you’d rather make snowmen for little children? You are a being of pure destructive magic - not a child’s plaything.”
The Nøkk was standing over her, now, towering above and glaring down at her with the intensity of the ocean in a storm. But she was a force of nature of her own. “So you’re going to keep me here?” she asked in a low voice.
“Yes.” That single word brought a stillness to the magic forest. Time itself seemed to stand still as it waited for her response.
“Then I will be all you want me to be,” she growled, blue eyes glowing dangerously. Dark clouds formed overhead. The air swirled around them, bring with it little blade-like snowflakes and chilling cold. Frost began to snake up the trees, scaring the bark with pure white crystals. “I will make storms - the likes of which you’ve never seen before. They will make your storms on the oceans look like a pleasant day. And I will bring them down on this forest you hold so dear. I will not stop until every tree, every leaf, every living thing in this land is dead and buried until a mile of ice and snow. I will bring about a new Age of winter and destruction and you will never get this forest back. Rocks will crumble under glaciers. The wind will answer to me alone. Fire will have its breath snuffed out before it can even be a spark. And all water will be frozen, unmoving, and trapped by my icy whim for all eternity. I am Winter, the season of Death, and I will unleash it upon this land.”
Finally, the Nøkk showed fear. It stepped away from her, ears twitching anxiously, as it watched winter rapidly consuming the clearing they stood in. The other Elementals shared the same concern. “You wouldn’t dare,” it challenged, but uncertainty tainted its voice.
Elsa’s magic nodded toward her better half. “She wouldn’t,” she stated, “Because she has what I do not: love. I have learned of a much more powerful magic than I, and it is one none of us possess. Only they do.” She pointed to the royal sisters. “Humans are stronger than you give them credit for.”
“So you are willing to give up your freedom?” the Nøkk asked, “Now that you are separate from your human, all because of love?”
Elsa’s magic chuckled. “Do you even know what it’s like?” she asked, “To feel love? To be loved? Because I do. I have been both feared and loved. To see awe and excitement in people’s eyes as I work my craft. To hear their praise, their laughter, their joy. To be wanted, valued for my talent and ability. I had that with her. With them.”
She sobered, then, and turned around to watch as Anna was helping Elsa shakily to her feet. “She needs me,” her magic uttered, “And I need her. We are not two separate beings, one a master and the other a slave. We are like the moon - I am the dark, the cold, the shadow; she is the light, the warmth, the comfort. Two sides of the same being. We need each other, and we both need Anna.”
“And if we do not allow this, you will destroy this land?” the Nøkk reiterated slowly.
“It is as you said: I am a being of pure destructive magic,” she said, “Love is the only thing that will thaw my ice.”
The Nøkk’s eyes narrowed. It then turned to face the other Elementals.
---
“Are you sure you’re gonna be ok?” Anna asked worriedly, seeing how hard it was for Elsa to even stand.
“I’ll be fine after I get some rest,” Elsa replied, winded by the act of speaking.
“You’re not exactly filling me with confidence,” Anna tried to say lightly, but she was too scared to make the joke work. She wasn’t sure how Elsa was going to get back home if she could barely take a couple steps.
Just then, another bright light filled the clearing. “Oh now what?” Anna demanded, turning around to observe the spectacle.
This time, it was someone walking triumphantly out of the light. The woman who appeared before them was god-like. Ethereal beauty, hair as soft and fluffy as freshly fallen snow, eyes like the clear winter sky, a dress made of silvery frost. She looked...familiar. Yet entirely foreign all the same. Like looking into a dream.
She felt Elsa’s weight shift beside her. With a grunt, her sister had stepped forward on her own, toward the mysterious woman, despite the weakness in her body. Her eyes were wide, her jaw hanging open in shock. “Y...you’re...” she stammered, shaking her head slightly in disbelief.
The mysterious woman smiled, the closed the gap between them. Anna stood by her sister protectively, eyeing the Queen’s doppelganger suspiciously. Elsa took another step forward, and subconsciously Anna grabbed her hand.
“Anna...” Elsa said with some difficulty, “It’s ok.”
“But...” Anna began to protest. But this ghostly version of her sister didn’t seem to show any malice. In fact, there was almost a peacefulness to her expression. “Ok,” she sighed, reluctantly releasing Elsa’s hand, “I trust you. Both of you.”
Elsa nodded in gratitude and took another shaky step forward. Her legs gave, then and she stumbled forward. But her magic caught her, one hand holding hers, and the other on her shoulder. The contact was enough, and almost instantly, Elsa felt life returning to her body. Pale, grey eyes met impossibly blue ones, and then her magic dissolved into streaks of brilliant light that started to encompass her.
Anna eventually had to shield her eyes from the blinding light that consumed both figures of her sister. And as the light faded, she realized there was only one Elsa standing before her.
Her Elsa.
Elsa gazed down at trembling hands, once more feeling her power thrumming inside of her, feeling the ice in her fingertips, feeling whole once again. She looked to her braid which was once again a light blonde. And her magic - she had never felt more harmonized with it. Like it was embracing the love in her heart and giving her a new source of power - one of rebirth, and life, and joy. The elation bubbled up inside, and she unable to contain it burst into a warm laugh.
“Elsa!” Anna crashed into her, nearly knocking the wind out of her with her hug but Elsa was too happy to care. She hugged Anna back, just as tightly, and the pair laughed and cried together as they realized just how fortunate they were.
Anna eventually pulled away, still holding Elsa’s shoulders tight. “Wait. I thought magic couldn’t leave the forest,” she said, “Doesn’t this mean you have to stay?”
Elsa thought for a minute. “No,” she replied, doing her characteristic frown whenever she thinks too deeply about something, “I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s like I’ve gotten permission to leave. With my magic.”
“So that was your magic?” Anna wondered, “The other you?”
Elsa simply shrugged. “She wanted to be with me. With us,” she said.
“That’s...strangely comforting to know that insanely powerful winter magic actually would rather live with my antics and demands for snowmen over living here in a literal magical forest,” Anna replied with a laugh.
Elsa chuckled warmly with her sister. She then made that same frown again, pausing as if to listen for something.
“Are you hearing the call again?” Anna asked anxiously.
“No...” Elsa said slowly, “I’m...not. I’m not drawn to this place anymore. In fact, I’m actually more drawn to...”
“Home?” Anna finished hopefully.
Elsa smiled. “Yes,” she agreed, “Let’s go home. To Arendelle.”
Anna nodded eagerly, and the pair of sisters then turned to leave, stepping out the forest hand in hand - just as they had entered. And they did not look back.
---
In the realm of magic, the Elementals looked on with mixed emotions. “We truly lost something special,” the Fire Spirit said with a disappointed sigh, “Think of what she could have become had she stayed here.”
“But she wanted to destroy everything if she was forced to stay!” the Wind Spirit reminded them anxiously.
“A fool if you ask me,” the Fire Spirit spat, “Why pick living life as a mortal when you could have chosen the life of a god?”
“Perhaps she was not as strong as we thought?” the Earth Spirit asked.
The Nøkk, ever stoic, stood at the edge of the clearing, watching as the small family of adventurers disappeared into the distance where no magic dared go. “No,” it said simply, causing the others to pause their conversation, “She was stronger than any of us.”

An absurdly long Frozen 2 theory - The Land of the Mist
You think I was kidding with this meme, right? No. I don’t mess around when it comes to Frozen 2 theories.
Tumblr media
I spent my free time wisely and finally brought together this theory I’ve been thinking about for a while now. After the release of the official trailer I can gleefully announce it wasn’t violently contradicted and I was able to expand on it, too.
Summing it up before we start, it’s about the repeated presence of mist in the Frozen 2 trailers, and how it is closely related to Scandinavian myths, namely elves, who are said to live in a parallel world. It also covers the topic of spirits as representations of the four elements.
I don’t want to murder anybody’s dashboard with 2k words and multiple images, so I put a safe ‘keep reading’ right after this. The following are the topics we will be covering, and if you want a very, very short tl;dr with just the basics, just jump straight to the conclusions:
The Introduction
The Elements
The Hidden Folk
The Pink
The Mist
The Conclusions
Keep in mind that this is just a theory that might be potentially proved wrong by the following trailers and sneak peeks (ihopenot), but this is what I could grasp from the information we’ve got so far. Also, I wrote the vast majority of this before Annecy, so a few details might slip by...
With this said, let’s get started!
Tumblr media
The Introduction
In the Frozen 2 teaser trailer we can see the Arendellian gang gazing over the fabled autumn forest filled with trees and rivers. But in the Frozen 2 Official Trailer, we see a very similar shot, almost mirror-like, of the past scene, and this is where everything begins.
Tumblr media
Clearly, they’re not in the same place. One has trees, the other one doesn’t; one looks magical and mystical, and the other just… doesn’t. While it is a beautiful scenery, it just doesn’t hold up with the other place’s visuals. It’s like an E3 vs Actual Game comparison.
Tumblr media
It’s of interest that Iceland, which seems to be the place they’re taking the most inspiration from, looks really similar to the scenery seen in the image above. For instance, this is Þingvellir in autumn:
Tumblr media
These places look… really similar. And the shots above are basically mirrored versions of each other. So that leads me to believe that the spotlight of Frozen 2 so far, the autumn forest, is located in a magical realm hidden by mist.
Tumblr media
It seems that this ‘portal’ the Arendellian royals found needs magic to be activated; as Elsa touches the mist with her hand it starts opening. We don’t know yet if any kind of magic can open it, so for now, let’s say that a magic wielder needs to be in contact with it. (Keep this in your head because it’ll come in handy later.)
But as soon as the gang goes through it, the mist closes in on itself, covering everything up, even the stones, and if I’m not wrong, they’ve already disappeared:
Tumblr media
So we have this sort of mirror dimension made reachable by some kind of mist portal and surrounded by 4 stones with the famous symbols that have made us lose our minds. Thankfully we now know thanks to bath bomb merch (and confirmation by Annecy) that they represent the 4 elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
And before we discuss the mist (because that’s another whole topic) let me pull up an unpublished theory that miraculously survived the official trailer and analyze the symbols and their meanings together.
_________________________
The Elements
The four elements of alchemy are the following and feature strikingly similar designs to those of the ice crystals. We are going to be using them to decypher the ice crystals’ meaning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The easiest one to tell is the top right one which bluntly establishes its connection with the earth symbol.
Tumblr media
The rest are not so straightforward, but there is something interesting in them. If we ‘cut’ the crystals in half, we will realize some of them are ‘fragmented’ in some way in the top triangle or the other, and some are not. Those fragmented correspond to air and earth, and the ones that are not, correspond to water and fire.
I know I’m totally not making myself clear so here’s what I mean:
Tumblr media
This way, top left symbol would mean fire, which is not so unlikely considering that it could mimic the look of a flame rather than a water drop. Bottom right symbol, also known as Anna’s symbol, would mean air: and if we take into account the strange merchandise we’ve seen lately, this would make sense, considering Anna is always surrounded by leaves in one way or another. Anna’s color scheme and emblems also match with the ‘air’ theme, which is represented in the Frozen universe by leaves flying.
Bottom left symbol (dubbed Elsa’s symbol by many) would mean water. With enough imagination we could assume that it is an ice crystal what’s shown in it. And last but not least, the top right symbol means earth.
So, it makes enough sense for now. But we have things unresolved. That is, Anna’s strange symbol, her sudden affinity with the air and Elsa’s connection with the Nokk. And this is when Frozen LA comes into play.
Tumblr media
“If you use the force of nature in your favor, it will be on your side.”
I don’t think Anna has powers, for many reasons. First and foremost, it would be very predictable, cliché and lazy writing in general, something I don’t think the Frozen 2 creators are aiming for.
Secondly, why didn’t they manifest earlier? We know very little about the magic system in the Frozen universe but it seems that there are two kinds of magic users: cursed and born with them. Anna evidently wasn’t born with powers. Now, if we say that Anna somehow got cursed with wind powers, that would be a bit more interesting. But I doubt it’s the case. And if we’re being real, Elsa already can sort of control wind with her own powers, creating storms and the like.
What I think is that nature and its force plays a major role in Frozen 2. We have already been officially introduced to the Nokk, a water spirit Elsa will have to prove her worth to. And in the Frozen 2 Official Trailer, we’re shown what looks like the spirit of Earth, a rock giant who doesn’t look friendly at all:
Tumblr media
Then Fire. After the last trailer, I don’t think anybody’s controlling that fire. Spirits, so far, seem to be just spirits; creatures that control themselves. We know Nokk is a shapeshifter, apparently, and maybe the other spirits can shapeshift, too. But if there’s anything I have to say, is that the fire doesn’t look natural in the slightest even when we’re talking about elements of nature, so it might be wrongfully influenced by a villainous figure? I don’t know, just throwing a semi-theory there. We’re coming back to this later.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, Air. Air has been confusing. The way it is represented is by the flow of leaves through the air.  In this scene in the teaser, the kids are in a forest, and I really doubt any of them are controlling the wind. The girl looks surprised; the boy has a bunch of leaves point to him and throw him up in the air. Unless there’s a third human character in this scene we’re not aware of, I’d say the wind is not controlled by anybody, at least in this particular scene; so again, it controls itself, like a force of nature.
Now knowing that Anna is connected to the air element somehow and Elsa to the water through the Nokk, is that these scenes that follow one another in the teaser, now have a whole new meaning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anna is lost in a rocky cave. Elsa is fighting against the fire that encircles her.
Air versus Earth, Water versus Fire; the opposite elements, facing each other through Anna and Elsa.
Another convergent idea is that there might be people that represent each of the elements and interact with the spirits; think of guardians, for example. Each of them would have a certain affinity with a specific element. We could say from what we’ve seen that Anna has an affinity with the air, Elsa with the water, and who knows what the other characters are.
If the Nokk is a mythical being that represents water, it’s not out of question to assume that the other elements also have a connection with real life mythology.
We can find an interesting individual in Norse mythology. Quoting Wikipedia:
In Norse mythology, Fornjót was an ancient giant and king of "Gotland, Kænland and Finnland" meaning Gotland, Kvenland, and Finland Proper.
His children are Aegir, (the ruler of the sea), Logi (fire giant) and Kári (god of wind).
Tumblr media
As you can see, this is the Norse mythology interpretation of the elements. We’re missing the Earth element, who would be Jörð, personification of Earth. How closely Disney is going to follow mythology is unknown to us, but considering there is going to be a whole book dedicated to the myths, I’d say that they are taking this very seriously.
__________
Now, let’s get back to our initial topic. I believe this forest they find in the teaser is the fabled magical land where the spirits of the 4 elements reside; where Elsa’s powers came from, and where she should’ve had that ‘life she was supposed to live’. We see people that look very similarly dressed to the Unknown Girl in the teaser:
Tumblr media
Sami, seemingly light brown clothes, boots and sash. But there’s far more to these people than at first glance, and this brings us to another topic…
_________________________
The Hidden Folk
The first connection to this mythological race was not made by the fandom but by the Broadway show itself, in which the rock trolls are replaced by the Hidden Folk. So let’s start with what our friend Wikipedia says about them:
Hidden people (huldufólk) are elves in Icelandic and Faroese folklore. They are supernatural beings that live in nature. They look and behave similarly to humans, but live in a parallel world. They can make themselves visible at will.
Remember what we said in the introduction? The Arendellian gang enters a magical realm covered by fog...
Clearly, the Hidden Folk as we see them in Frozen Broadway won’t make an appearence in Frozen 2, because they represent the trolls from the movie. But the connection is interesting, and there’s even more to it.
Idunn mentions being one of the children of the Northern Nomads in the Broadway show, implying that she was not born in the royal family but rather married into the throne. This is further confirmed by the fact that in Frozen, we can see Agdar, the heir to the throne having his coronation; Idunn isn’t a royal, or at least not an Arendellian royal. She came from somewhere else.
Tumblr media
And if we take into account the Polish leaks, Idunn is the Unknown Girl from the teaser, further strengthening the bond between these people we see in the autumn forest and her.
Thanks to Annecy spoilers, we know that Agdar visited the enchanted lands and was left “traumatized” by something that went terribly wrong. But more on that later...
__________
I told you to keep in mind the ‘gateway activated by magic’ in the introduction. Okay, so we’re saying that Agdar visited this place in his youth (and probably met Idunn here) but we’re overlooking something.
How did he make it to the forest at all? I doubt anybody who’s not proficient with magic would be able to open the portal. I mean, the portal didn’t open up by itself; Elsa touched it with her magic. So either:
a) Agdar has powers
b) He went with someone who did have powers
c) Some other convoluted reason
d) We’re thinking too much into this and the autumn forest can be accessed without going through any weird portal
I think I’d go with b. But you judge that.
__________
The other connection, as I have said, is the Sami. The Sami people inhabit Lapland, a region encompassing Norway, Sweden, Finland, among others. We know that Kristoff is basically one of them, and one of their most prominent occupations is reindeer herding.
Tumblr media
The teaser trailer showed Kristoff guiding a multitude of reindeers, and with the official trailer showing us that there are people who actually live in the forest, the idea is much more clear. There are Sami living in the forest, or at least Disney’s interpretations of them, which may be synonymous or at least have a connection with the Hidden Folk or whatever name they’ll receive in Frozen 2. Remember Northern Nomads was a term used in Frozen Broadway, and Sami were originally nomads...
Tumblr media
So, I really tried coming up with an actual theory for those suspicious looking northern lights Idunn looks at but I failed. Sorry. The only idea I have is that Idunn is talking to Elsa after the accident and telling her her own version of the origins behind her powers, and maybe, just maybe, those unnatural northern lights represent Elsa’s sworn enemy, pink.
Yes, pink. Purplish pink or pinkish purple, to be exact.
_________________________
The Pink
Pink has always been a problem for Elsa. The night of the accident, she was shown terrible imagery that’d scare her for life; her adult silhouette is absorbed, consumed by this purple mass. “Fear will be your enemy,” Grand Pabbie said.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later in her life, we see that whenever Elsa is feeling emotions relating to fear and despair, her ice cracks and turns a shade of pinkish purple. We all get that. But now. Why, for the love of Nokk, why is the fire pink? Nokk looks alright, just like water would look. The earth giants too. I don’t see anything strange with the wind other than it is… wind. But the fire is pink, for a reason we don’t know yet.
Tumblr media
The sky turns pinkish after the accident. Why is literally everything that is bad for Elsa represented by pinkish purple?
And I have no definite answer for that. If I have to throw an idea, it’s a prophecy. A manifestation of sorts that just wants Elsa to stop breathing, which may be related to the presence that left Agdar terrified and Arendelle cutting relations with these northern lands. An inherited ‘curse’ of sorts, that may give us a new point of view of why Elsa’s powers were kept in secret. Maybe her parents really had something to fear. A legitimate reason to lock her away, as harsh as that sounds.
For now, let’s leave that in an ominous tone, and talk about the mist. Oh, the mist.
_________________________
The Mist
As we were saying before, the Hidden Folk are basically synonymous with elves. They are invisible (hence, hidden, huh), magical, and are not exactly humans, in the sense that they don’t meddle in their affairs, and live in a parallel world. We have already seen the ‘parallel’, ‘mirror’ symbolism with the gang gazing over the lands, but here’s more, if we insist.
Tumblr media
(Pss! Don’t wanna break it to you, but autumn forests just aren’t that beautiful. These ones are magical and misty.)
What elves look like varies from source to source. But they are very closely associated with mist, and live in meadows, mires and forests.

Quoting Wikipedia further:
The elves of Norse mythology have survived into folklore mainly as females, living in hills and mounds of stones. The Swedish älvor were stunningly beautiful girls who lived in the forest with an elven king.
The elves could be seen dancing over meadows, particularly at night and on misty mornings. They left a circle where they had danced, which were called älvdanser (elf dances) or älvringar (elf circles).
If a human watched the dance of the elves, he would discover that even though only a few hours seemed to have passed, many years had passed in the real world. Humans being invited or lured to the elf dance is a common motif transferred from older Scandinavian ballads.

lured to the elf dance
Tumblr media
Yeah, that’s not the face of someone who wasn’t lured.
Okay, okay, okay! I’m sorry if I got too excited about this and saying that Elsa got seduced by the dancing and singing of an elf is perhaps taking it a bit too far. But hear me out. Letting go of my no-crazy-speculation filter for a bit, I’d say that an elf/spirit was the one who incessantly sang to Elsa (remember, female singing), lured her into her dance showing her wonderful imagery of the spirits of the four elements of the parallel world, and then made her release the ice crystals (magic that has been building up for a long time) and go haywire. But you judge that…
What I mean to say is that I think that this concept of elves (maybe not called elves inside of the film, but at least the concept) and their relation to the mist are going to be present in Frozen 2. I’ve been thinking about mist for the past two months and this is the first time I manage to include it in a theory. I’ve wanted to -and will- say something that will sound stupid for a long, long time but I don’t care because it’s worth it. An image I stumbled upon while researching through elves. It’s called ‘Chasing after Hildur’.
It’s from a myth starring Hildur, the Queen of Elves. I’m not going to explain the whole myth, it’s not really relevant; but please, just look at that image. It’s more visual than anything, and it is that it looks ABSOLUTELY EXACTLY THE SAME LIKE THE MOMENT WHEN ANNA JUMPS OVER THE PRECIPICE.
Tumblr media
And I’m using all caps because I mean it.
Tumblr media
Is Anna chasing after the queen of elves? After a common elf? After the elf like creature that lured Elsa into the dance?
Might be a huge cosmic coincidence, may not be, but summing it up? Frozen 2 has elves. Yeah.

The Conclusions
You’re finally here. Aka, Tl;Dr. And for the sake of not repeating ‘this might be’ and ‘probably’ every 2 seconds, I’ll sound really confident.
Maybe:
Frozen 2 features a beautiful parallel realm whose entrance is reachable when a magic user activates it. This is the autumn forest we see in the teaser trailer, contrasting to the more regular-looking place near the end of the official trailer.
The ‘Land of the Mist’ is the home of the Hidden Folk, elves, and the four elements of nature, who are sentient and are represented by four mythological beings. In these lands, magic comes and goes. But something terrible happened, and the harmony between the inhabitants and the spirits is no more.
This is the truth they are looking for; the origin of Elsa’s powers; she should’ve lived in this hidden realm of the hidden people, and nowhere else.
Idunn, her mother, secretly comes from this realm, and in Frozen 2, the sisters will learn about the family they barely got to know, and will have to prove their worth and fight an unknown evil yet to be revealed who Agdar already faced.
Elsa is the only person in the world who can bring the harmony back to the Land of the Mist and unify the four elements before it’s too late.
/Maybe.
Wow, I’m tired.
Tumblr media
(It’s fall in my country, by the way, can’t do that.)
This is the furthest I managed to get so far with the help of 3 minutes of footage, Annecy and bath bomb leaks, and I’m sure even more theories are going to come to light as more days pass and the Frozen 2 trailer settles down in people’s minds. Might give some quick little update to this if something new comes up...
Would love to hear your theories and opinions as well! I’m sure we won’t stop till we inadvertently spoil ourselves the whole movie.
Goodbye and Happy Theorizing!

I’ve Completed KH3 And I Have Thoughts.
I have finished KH3 short of the side stuff like the ultima weapon, classic kingdom, gummi ship stuff, battle portals and the cooking. I have some thoughts. First off, I loved this game allot. I only have a couple of complaints gameplay wise and three story wise but all in all, I loved every minute of this game. For those who don’t want to read everything I’d give the game a solid 8.5/10. It was amazing but a few small flaws and the three story issues I had made me bring the score down. First I will discuss the issues cause I feel that’s what one should do when critiquing art. I will offer solutions where I can.
I will discuss my gameplay complaints first.
The manual lock on is ass while the auto lock on is decent. I almost never used the manual lock on due to the fact it can just drag the camera where ever it wanted. Especially if enemies start flying. This is largely due to how often you spend in the air while in combat. The auto lock is good though and doesn’t seem to change targets unless you make it or bump into another enemy. The manual lock is good for human sized bosses though. Short of making the camera tighter this may not be able to be fixed.
The game is to damn easy. I had this issue in BBS and DDD after I got to level 30 and beyond. The game becomes easy even on proud. This is largely due to bad enemy health scaling. They still can hit damn hard and enemies like the Ice Dragon still are dangerous. But since the enemy’s health and defense don’t scale up better the game becomes real easy after level 40. I don’t doubt they will patch in a critical mode which may be a better way to play this game. Just better enemy scaling would fix this problem.
That’s all my gameplay complaints now for story ones. SPOILERS will be discussed so leave while you can.
The game has bad pacing in the Disney worlds. Some like Olympus, Toy Box, San Fransokyo and Kingdom Of Corona have great pacing while Monstropolis is meh and ones like Pirates and Arendelle were just awful. Why are you cheering for Anna and Elsa Sora? You didn’t do anything you turd. This could have been fixed if they added intervals in between all the worlds to reset the pacing and if they just followed the movies from start to finish in their entirety instead of jumping around.
Twilight Town is more of a bus stop then a world. They should have made it bigger and included old areas to explore. Even an expanded sewer system would have been fun. No story reason needed it just exists. Oh well.
These next issues ARE MAJOR SPOILERS so leave now if you don’t want to be spoiled.
What the fuck is Nomura’s issue with writing a good arc for Kairi? I mean they set her up to be training to become a bad ass and we don’t get to see either the training or a decent fight scene. We fight with her once, she gets kidnapped, and then fucking dies!? I’m starting to think Nomura doesn’t know how to write female characters. That may be one of the reasons they dropped him from FF Versus XIII since females had big roles in the story. He fucked Kairi over and made her the least likable and cared about character in the fucking finale of this Saga to me. What the hell? This alone may actually get me to start my own series on something I’ve been thinking about for awhile. Jesus. The death isn’t the issue its that there was no build up for her.
The last story complaint is a small one. I saw Sora’s “death” coming since death seemed to be a theme in allot of the world’s we went to. Flynn, Anna, Jack, and Tadashi were or are dead at some point. Even Young Xehanort hinted at it when he said, “There is a high price to pay for wielding such power recklessly (...) There is no saving you.” The issues I have with the “death” of Sora is that it means nothing. Nomura said he will be the protagonist for the foreseeable future. If he didn’t say that then the death would be okay. The main complaint about this is the final scene on Destiny Islands where everyone sees Kairi and Sora but Sora just gets Thanos’d. That shouldn’t have been in there. There are two scenarios that would work way better than that one in my eyes.
One: Everyone is just looking out to the sea and the music goes quiet. All you can hear is the sounds of the waves and it zooms to Riku and he just smiles.
Two: Same thing but Kairi comes from the ocean in tears and Riku helps her up. They all look at her and she shakes her head. Everyone gets solemn until Riku chuckles. He smiles and says, “That knuckle head always getting into trouble. He’ll be back. Even if I have to drag him home.”
Maybe its stupid but if you removed the scene where Sora turns into smoke or whatever, the ending would have allot more impact.
Those are all my complaints for the game. Like I said solid overall but with a few issues that could easily be fixed.
Now for the stuff I loved about the game. Gameplay Is First
All the worlds were so much damn fun to explore. I easily spent and extra couple hours in each just looking around for chests, emblems, Easter eggs, and ingredients. Even Pirates was fun and I was worried it’d be gimmicky due to the ship mechanic but nope it was so much fun. The only one that was less fun was Monstropolis but since it takes place in a factory its okay. It seemed more into hidden paths than open places which is fine.
I haven’t had that much fun with a combat system since playing as Vergil In Devil May Cry 4 Special edition and that’s saying something. His combat was so smooth and easy to experiment with I didn’t think it could be beat but KH3′s comes close with transformations and grand magic. The attractions are a bonus though I didn’t use them allot. There wasn’t a need at later levels.
Thank god for combo cancelling with dodges and slides. Against the Gigas, which are the only enemies that pose a threat now, its a god send.
Flowmotion is fun to use and not over powered like in DDD. No more spamming air slam at early levels.
The party members all feel useful. Not many died in combat and seemed smart enough to back off when they’re in danger. Donald also heals based on need versus what he did before. Like if I was out of magic and potions he would heal me over goofy even if we had similar amounts of health.
There wasn’t a single boss I didn’t like short of Dark Baymax since it felt so slow. Skoll is now my favorite heartless design finally surpassing the Wyvern from Kingdom Hearts 1.
That’s all for gameplay since I could go on and on.
Now for story stuff. SPOILERS INCOMING! All the original story stuff for the KH characters was amazing. Anti-Aqua’s theme was so heartbreaking and beautiful and what she said as we fought made me feel like shit even though it was Mickey’s fault for leaving her there. Vanitas’ voice is god like and his scenes are so good. Him calling Ventus and Sora a brother to him makes sense yet unsettled me with the tone he used. ALL OF THE TRIO’S BEING REUNITED!!! I cried when Xion, Roxas and Axel hugged and cried. I was so happy they got to be together. Aqua’s reunion with Terra and Ven was also beautiful. Xehanort’s story beats were great and the man they got to replace the late Leonard Nimoy is amazing. Sounds more sickly and dying like he should at this point. The twist where Terranort wrecks everyone before we go back into time was a fucking shock and amazing. THEN LINGERING WILL SHOWING UP! The voice for Lingering will was amazing. DONALD’S ZETAFLARE HOLY SHIT! All the foreshadowing of Sora’s “Death” or “Disappearance.” Death was talked about allot and Young Xehanort even said Sora couldn’t be saved since Sora uses the power of waking so recklessly. All the Disney characters who met organization members being sick of their shit before they even talk. Woody especially. “I bet you’ve never been loved.” and “That makes you more hollow than any toy.” My son I am so proud. All the instagram style posts were so cute. The epilogue was mind blowing. I knew that sarcastic sniper knew way more than he let on but him being Luxu was a fucking shock. Amazing. And the secret ending seems to be hinting that Sora’s been given a second chance in the form of The Reaper game from TWEWY. Either its going to be DLC which Nomura said if he did decide to do he’d do free stuff and/or one big dlc that adds to the experience in a big way or the next game opens with The Reaper Game. Riku being in Verum Rex is interesting to me. Maybe he realizes Sora isn’t in the realm of light and after talking with Goofy and Donald he learns of Verum Rex and how Sora was tossed in so he goes looking for him there. And finally the Master of Masters looking at the moon and forming a heart with his hands. Is he looking for a new plain of existence for everyone to live on but before he can move people there it needs a new Kingdom Hearts? And is that what’s in the box? I’m excited to see. All in all I love the game and would recommend it to people who want a good JRPG.
8.5/10

Freeing the Witch (8/20)
Betad by the talented @notoriouscs.

Once Upon a Time, there was Emma Swan the Savior and Killian Jones the fearsome pirate Captain Hook. But this is not that time, this is not that place, this is the time of the Dark Swan and a cowardly Deckhand who dares to think he could save her and live to tell the tale…Especially when things get complicated.
ffn Ao3
Chapter 8
The Trap
They’re trudging through snow. It’s cold on her feet, and the flakes that have just started falling stick to her skin. Her boots are soaked, and she’s in the worst mood possible. Emma doesn’t understand how anyone could want to be around this stuff ever, let alone live in it all the time. She’d prefer a grassy meadow or a stone tavern any day.
“Look Ems! It’s snowing! Isn’t it simply divine?” Elsa says gleefully, practically skipping, and singing.
I don’t care about our plan. If she starts singing, I’m going to show her what happens to frozen things in summer, Emma vows, eyeing the witch carefully.
Elsa winks back, obviously knowing that she’s getting to Emma.
The snow is agonizing enough. Emma forgot just how giddy Elsa gets when she’s in her element, literally. It’s disgusting. But it does remind her of her first meeting with the young queen, a memory that felt like a lifetime ago.
Emma had just run away from her mother, lost and alone in the world. She thought she would always be stuck on the run, hiding from Queen Snow’s men.But then Ingrid found her and changed everything. Ingrid was filled with light and happiness who comforted a runaway sorceress when she had nothing. It was the same magical day that Elsa, still in her coronation attire, eyes brimming with tears, found Ingrid and Emma. Everything changed for two scared, powerful young women on the same day.
“I hate the snow,” Emma snaps back to the present. “And you. How far is this prison anyway?” It didn’t seem so far on Killian’s map. She can cross realms without breaking a sweat, but she can’t stand this snow for a moment longer.
Elsa stops, tapping her cheek in thought. “Another hour’s walk?” she guesses. “Is that too much for you?”
“Nope,” Emma replies, popping the p, suppressing her desire to start an argument. They can’t do that. It isn’t a part of the plan. Fighting would get in the way of the show they need to put on, and if there is anything they excel at, it’s putting on a good show.
When they first met, their interactions were civil, behavior that was drilled into both of them growing up as princesses in their own castles. They were both dirty little secrets.
The years of hostility from those supposed to love them and the constant emphasis on being in control, showing no emotion, had nearly driven them mad. They were raised as weapons, to one day be unleashed as their kingdoms’ personal attack dogs under the control of their vindictive parents, yet still required to maintain the façade of innocent princesses dispute the curses inflicted upon them.
Who knew hating your parents could make you such close friends, but close they were. Emma and Elsa were like sisters.
Ingrid, Emma and Elsa were a family. They had been happy.
Elsa stops for a second, eyeing Emma carefully. Emma gives a small nod in agreement; she sensed their presence as well. If they stop, the plan is ruined, so they press on, both feigning ignorance of the forces watching them. It’s only a matter of time before they make their move. Armies tend not to be the most patient creatures.
It is starting.
“Hold it, villain!” cries a voice. Emma and Elsa stop, magic at the ready as if surprised by the small group of guards who quickly surround them, brandishing swords.
Emma smiles at the thought that those metal twigs could harm her. She is the Dark One, and soon, they’ll know what that means.
“You are in Arendelle. Magical beings like you are strictly forbidden,” says someone, a guard Emma assumes. but his armour looks decorated strangely. She looked over at Elsa.
A guard? She silently asks.
Elsa nods at her before looking back at the group. She steps forward, keeping her back straight as an arrow. “I am Elsa, eldest daughter of Queen Gerda and rightful heir to the kingdom,” she announces in that princess voice that was instilled in both her and Emma since childhood, a voice they would always have in their arsenals whether they liked it or not. “I command thee to lay down your weapons.”
It’s a noble effort, but one they both knew was doomed to fail. Elsa wasn’t the rightful heir in the eyes of the people, not since Ingrid took her away from the castle, away from everything.
Ingrid drove the first wedge when she started talking about light magic and forgiving  those who had wronged them. Emma didn’t want to forgive her mother, whom she believed never truly loved her. But Ingrid insisted that because Snow had magic, she could join their family.
She tried no such argument with Elsa’s sister who had long proven her inability to accept what she did not understand.
Ingrid saw the world as us against them. She hated non-magic users, and she believed that possessing magic was enough to bond people together. She thought that with a little love and compassion, Queen Snow could be reformed, that the four of them could be a family.
Emma didn’t take it very well, constantly arguing with Ingrid, who just didn’t understand that Emma’s mother was beyond rehabilitation. The unfeeling monarch who manipulated her own daughter into becoming a monster didn’t want or deserve Emma’s forgiveness.  But Ingrid refused to listen.
Elsa, on the other hand, kept insisting that not all mortals were bad. Emma always caught her staring off into the distance, waiting for something, or maybe someone, to appear in the distance. Emma was sure to it was non-magical, for why else would Elsa keep it a secret? Whenever Emma questioned her, the almost-queen would smile softly.
“He made me a promise,” she said, and that was that.
“Our king is Hans,” the lead guard says sharply, bringing Emma back to the present. “You, witch, are an enemy of this kingdom.” Elsa isn’t fazed by his assertion. She’s heard it many times before.
Suddenly there are guards upon them, swiping at them mercilessly with their weapons, aiming to kill, not capture.
The sorceresses reply just as fiercely. After so much time in the close quarters of the ship, they desperately need the release of tension, the release of the darkness gripping their hearts, the release that these foolish guards seem oh so eager to give them.
It would be so easy to just kill them all with a single wave of her wrist, burying them in the snow, watching as they struggle for breath, as the life slowly drains from their bodies. Such a sight would fill Emma with glee, but then more will come. And when she dispatches those, then the magical prisoners under Hans’ control will be summoned to deal with them. No, Emma can’t have that. She needs to be underestimated, to be overlooked as a real threat.
So she doesn’t allow the battle to seem so totally one-sided. Instead Emma burns the guards with fireballs or breaks their bones by sheer force of will instead of what she’d usually do if she wanted to win: tear out their hearts one by one.
She looks to her left to see Elsa freezing solid those foolish enough to come at her, sending each human ice sculpture crumbling with a quick blow from an icicle staff. Her chilling laugh pierces the air as her power merges with the everlasting snowstorm.
If anyone questioned if they were monsters before, they wouldn’t after seeing the lack of regret in their eyes, Elsa’s joy as she kills, and their smirks reveling in their complete control. They work well together, the two bloodthirsty blondes. Just like old times, except now they can actually kill people.
Then one day Emma told Elsa her plan. Emma was going to run away. She was tired of obeying Ingrid’s rules, of always feeling like she let Ingrid down when she just couldn’t feel how the woman wished she would.
Elsa lost it, screaming that Emma was leaving her like everyone else did. She begged Elsa to leave too, but her sister couldn’t leave her only blood family she had left. Emma swore to Elsa that she’d be back, she’d come back for her, for her sister.
And Emma did return a few years later, but instead of triumphant, she came back lost and afraid again, just like when Ingrid found her the first time. Emma was burdened by a terrible secret, and she needed Elsa. She needed her sister.
But when Emma left, their sibling love had melted to bitter rivalry. Both felt betrayed by the other. Elsa’s coldness when she most needed her support reaffirmed for Emma that she was better off alone. She was better off without magic. And so Emma did what she did best.
She ran. Ran from Ingrid, ran from Elsa, ran from her kingdom.
Ran from her fate.
Something smacks Emma on the back, knocking her from her memories to whirl around to face her attacker,.
“Hello, lass. Miss me?” drawls a voice, flashing a wink with his good eye.
“Of course, Captain,” she replies evenly, conjuring her blade as all the approaching guards back off, watching the two circle each other slowly. “I’d never get tired of your pretty face.” And then she strikes.
He blocks her attack with ease, flicking his wrist just so to pull the blade from her grip.
“But it isn’t so pretty anymore, is it?” she teases darkly, eyeing the dark bruise on his face. Without a second thought he slashes at her, cutting open her wrist.
She hisses in pain before switching to fireball attacks. He doesn’t panic, just calmly deflects the magic with his enchanted sword, driving her backwards with her own firepower. Emma notices the remaining guards, those not being slaughtered by the homicidal Ice Queen, of course, watching with awe. This newcomer is easily dealing with the monster who was demolishing their forces unchecked only moments before.
In sudden fury she leaps at him, really aiming for her fallen weapon.
“I’m going to cut out your throat, you dirty pirate,” she spits as she pulls the sword toward her with a bit of magic and shoots him a coy smirk.
“Dirty? I bathe quite frequently, thank you,” he responds. He swings full force, hitting Emma across the face with the blunt side of his weapon.
She blinks once before losing her balance and falling backward. He catches her quickly, bridal style, head rolling onto his shoulder. She may be the Dark Swan of the realm, but even she has her weaknesses. She just hopes sharing them with the sailor was the right choice.
He settles her gently on the ground. “Good night, my fair maiden.” It’s soft and sweet in her ear, making her fight a smile as she drifts into unconsciousness.
Another whisper of his voice is even lower. “You can trust me, Swan. All will be well. Your plan will work.”
Emma wakes much as she expected to, chained to the wall in a cell. The restraints scratch at the rash left behind from her last stint in captivity, but these chains are a bit wider than they should be, nothing like the ones back in her tower. They barely suppress her magic. She had thought Hans was an expert in this, or perhaps she is just more of an expert at escaping. she doesn’t know.
Fortunately, they separated her from Elsa. Emma couldn’t handle the Ice Queen’s whining for the duration of their rescue/escape. Hopefully Elsa stuck to the plan and let Killian best her as well. They had decided that getting him close to whoever was in charge of this prison was the best course of action. Convincing the King’s forces to see Killian as their savior seemed like easiest way to make that happen.
But Emma has to admit, he is getting good with a sword. She only has a few notes of improvement for him from their staged fight. Sure, her magical attacks missed purposely, and she had taught him the move that ripped her sword from her hand, but with a few more weeks of practice, he might even surpass her with a blade.
“Rise, demon,” demands a voice. Emma turns her head and moves closer to the bars, making the armor-clad guard jump.
“Of course,” she purrs. “Where’s the Captain? He’s the one who caught me, not any of you incompetent fools.”
The man doesn’t react, instead pushing a tray through a small hole in the bars. It’s disgusting. She’d rather starve than eat that mess. Good thing it’s not an issue, since the Dark One doesn’t actually need food.
“He is speaking to the King,” the guard replies stiffly.
The King? Emma suppresses a groan. She expected the fool to come when he heard they captured his sister-in-law, but she had hoped he wouldn’t arrive so quickly.
No matter. Her plan will still work. They always do.
“Speaking about little ol’ me?” she flirts. “You Arendellians sure know how to flatter a lady.”
The man grins a little too widely. It makes Emma nervous. He steps closer to her cage, aiming to taunt her. He obviously doesn’t know who she is, what she can do. Perhaps she had let them underestimate her a little too much if they think these chains will keep her magic at bay.
“Actually, my king isn’t too trusting of late,” smirks the guard.  “He has a foolproof way of ensuring that no foreigner who tells him a lie lives to tell another.”
Emma doesn’t like the sound of that, especially since every word leaving Killian’s mouth is sure to be just that.
Thoughts whirl in her head. Stick to the plan and don’t worry about him, or risk the whole operation to ensure he isn’t in danger? To be honest, when she came up with the plan, she hadn’t paid much attention to whether the Sailor lived through it, but that was before...before she realized that he could still be useful to her, he could still entertain her.
He’s more than entertaining isn’t he?
The plan was for her to slip out, find Elsa and Ingrid and get out. If she looks for Killian now, it puts the plan at risk, they could all be caught, forced to do Hans’ bidding. That is a fate worse than death in her eyes. She should trust the plan, let things happen how they scripted. Yes, Emma will stick to the plan…
The guard moves to retreat from the cell bars, and Emma flips from strategizing to acting on her primal instincts.
“Well, knowledge is power after all,” she snickers, breaking her chains and flinging herself against the cage. The bars, enchanted with something strong, burn her skin, but it’s no matter. Burns will heal, she thinks. But this won’t. Emma shoves her hand into the man’s chest before he has a chance to flee. He can only gasp silently, as her first thought while gripping his beating heart is be silent.
It pulses red in her hand, oh so pretty. Emma looks up, seeing the shock and fear in the man’s eyes.
Now he knows who he’s messing with. Now he knows what happens when you cross the Dark One.
“Tell me, soldier, what does your king wish to do to the Captain?”
He has no choice. He spills his guts to her, voice dripping with terror.
She curses under her breath as she hears what they plan for her sailor.
This is not part of the plan.

True Love Will Always Find A Way
Ladyhawke AU
Princess!Emma & Pirate!Killian Jones
Emma is one of the most beautiful princesses in the Enchanted Forest, and Killian Jones is one of the most cutthroat pirates to sail the seven seas. When Emma refuses to give Baelfire any hopes he might win her heart, a set of events is set in motion, one that will forever entwine the fates of the princess and of the pirate.
Part 11
It’s late in the afternoon when Killian decides to take a break from his calculations and let his mind wander to other things. Finally, with the help of the extensive library put at his disposal by Queen Elsa, and thanks to the royal astronomer’s inestimable contributions, they have the area for the solar eclipse determined. They finally know it will happen just outside the borders of Misthaven, on the northern side. He now has the band of totality narrowed to several miles, and he’s marked it entirely on the map. With the Jolly Roger, they could easily make the trip in under three days, if he were to really put his beloved ship through her paces.
And he’s been making progress time-wise, too. He knows that the eclipse will happen sometime in the next 45 days. All that’s left now is to narrow it down to the exact day. And he’s getting closer, he can feel it. They don’t have a lot of time left, that’s true, but that doesn’t worry him much at the moment. After all, since coming to Arendelle 5 months ago, he’s made incredible progress, more than he’d hoped they would when he’d set course towards Emma’s friend.
He takes a moment to reminisce about their arrival in Arendelle. At Emma’s behest, he’d maneuvered the ship so that they had docked soon after sunset. He’d had them fly at half-mast when entering the village and his crew donning their best clothes. Nothing in their appearance was to draw unwanted attention to them. Not until Emma had had the chance to talk to her friend.
Emma was to ask an audience with the Queen, but he’d asked Jamison to accompany her everywhere and protect her with his life, if needed. And if Peter felt she was not safe leaving the ship, he was to take a contingent of men with him, if he could not convince Emma to stay on board. And he’d had a strong feeling she would not have stayed on the Jolly anyway, no matter how dangerous Jamison might have deemed the situation to be. She had that much faith in her friend.
Fortunately, his precautions had been for naught. As soon as they had docked and been boarded by the Queen’s men, Emma had sent her friend a message. He hadnt asked what she’d written, but whatever it had been, it had brought the Queen on board their ship in less than an hour.
Jamison had later told him the reunion had been warm and heartfelt, the two friends sharing a long embrace. They had retired to the captain’s quarters after the young queen had given orders that they receive all the help they needed. After more than an hour, during which Killian imagined Emma had brought her friend up to date with their predicament, the two royals had come up on deck again.
After that, he and Emma had more or less spent their days and nights in the castle, as hosts of the Queen. He’d felt awkward at first, especially waking up in a strange bed, much softer than anything he’d ever experienced, but Emma’s message had soothed some of his worries. Elsa had insisted they stay in the castle, close to all the resources they needed for their quest, and it didn’t seem relevant to her that Killian had been - was - a pirate. And the same courtesy had extended to his crew as well.
He’d been shocked to meet Elsa - the young queen was definitely not what he’d imagined when Emma had told him stories of her friend. She was a quiet young woman, quite shy, but with an inner strength that exuded through all her pores. She’d accepted them into her home and into her kingdom no questions asked, and had put at their disposal anything he had asked of her. She’d even asked Maartins, the court’s former astronomer, to come out of retirement and lend them some help.
His crew were welcomed in town and the folks were kind to them. Of course, he’d given the pirates very strict instructions to be on their best behaviour, under threat of very explicit consequences, which no one would dare disobey. He suspected he may have done without it, though; his crew had demonstrated time and time again in the last couple of years that they were as eager as he was to see the curse lifted.
Coming back to the present, Killian lets himself acknowledge the sense of obligation he now feels towards Elsa. It’s strange for him to feel gratitude towards a royal, but he does. Notably so. At times he actually wonders how come he hasn’t suffered from apoplexy yet, with all these positive feelings he now feels for royalty.
But Emma and Elsa are the exception. Anna, too. Elsa’s younger sister is often a pain in his ass with her endless questions and chattering, but she has a gentle heart and a warm personality. The two sisters are genuinely good people, and have proven quite passionate about helping them find a way to break the curse. So, five months after coming to Arendelle, Killian is amazed, and yet not, to know he has found help among royalty, that he’s become friends of sorts with them.
And then there’s Emma. In the short time they’ve been in Arendelle, she’s become happier. Being close to her friends and seeing actual progress in their endeavour has made her sound lighter in her letters to him. She’d been optimistic most of the time they’d spent together, but now that she has company and more than a ship to roam on, she seems more carefree. And her attitude inexorably extends to him. Waking up to her bright messages every day give him bursts of energy and determinations that carry him into the late afternoon. So it’s no wonder he attributes their success to her demeanor. What’s more, he now believes her constant optimism has made the universe take her desires into account and mold them into action.
~~~~~~~~~~
Rumplestilskin isn’t one to concern himself with the fate of his victims. Especially not the ones he casts the most dire of curses on. And not when the only way to brake said curses is through True Love’s Kiss. As much as people would want to believe True Love is easy to find, and that each of them has it, he knows the truth. True Love is the rarest thing of all. And only the most fortuitous of beings have the good fortune to encounter it in their lifetimes.
He should know. Abandoned by both his parents while still a child, then by the wife he’d thought had cared for him, he’s learnt that love is fickle and short-lived. The years he’s spent as the Dark One have only cemented this belief. He could barely keep track of the number of times lovers had turned on one another when faced with his dark magic. How easily they give up their mates when threatened with harm, he snickers.
In all his years, he’s only encountered one couple that could boast of sharing True Love: Queen Snow of Misthaven and her consort, Prince David. But as far as he’s concerned, they haven’t been truly tested yet. Once the proper assessment would be devised for them, they would prove to be just as unreliable as all the rest.
As for the daughter, she would have served him well. A being born of True Love was supposed to carry great magic within her. Magic that he could have harnessed: a baby born out her union with Baelfire would have been the best apprentice he could ever have hoped for. After all, his own son had too much of a soft heart to have what it took to wield the darkest magic in all the realms.
But all that is moot now. The Princess is cursed to be an animal during the day and she’ll never see the light of the sun. He snickers again. Such a fitting punishment for a princess who is rumored to have loved the nature and the warmth of the sun. He hopes she is truly miserable by now. The absence of the things one loves most would make anyone depressed, so he imagines she’s no different.
Now that is an intriguing thought. Maybe the years spent under the shadows of the moon have mellowed her adversity towards Baelfire and she is now open to negotiations. After all, while he cannot lift the curse he cast on her, he can recreate the sun and the impression of day with magic. By now she’s surely so desperate for the sun’s rays, she’ll agree to anything to feel its warmth.
He chuckles at the trail his thoughts take. Maybe he will have his grandson after all. Ultimately, the princess is human half the day and that is enough for Baelfire to beget a child on her. Pleased with himself, Rumplestilskin erupts into manic laughter. He really is devious at times, he thinks with a trace of pride.
Now that he’s thought of a new use for the princess of Misthaven, he decides to check up on her. He’ll have to retrieve her soon; but that shouldn’t be too difficult. He opens his cabinet and pulls out the crystall ball he’s enchanted for this very thing. Summoning the powers of darkness, he casts the spell required to show him the princess’ whereabouts without even thinking about it consciously.
The crystal ball turns opaque, swirls of grey smoke soon twirling inside, rushing to do their master’s bidding. A few seconds later, the smoke starts to dissipate and Rumplestilskin starts to make out shapes. He stumbles back in surprise when the images coalesce into something he had not expected, revealing a place he mostly kept away from. The princess is in Arendelle, with the young Queen Elsa.
He feels annoyance creeping up on him. If she thinks the Queen’s magic can help her, she’ll have to think again. No one can lift that curse from her, not even him, he muses in satisfaction. Glowering at the scene in front of him, Rumplestilskin notices the princess bending down towards something. Following the movement with his eyes, he sees a wolf laying low besides the princess’ chair, head on her feet and he curses. Annoyance turns into anger at the sight and its meaning, and Rumplestilskin overturns his desk. “No!”, he yells in displeasure.
He knows they can’t break the curse without True Love’s Kiss, which he’d made impossible for them, but how did they find each other? They weren’t supposed to do that! Rage courses through him and he decides to put an end to this. He’ll send three of his minions to kill the wolf and be done with it! He’d love to do it himself, but the annoying trolls that protect the northern realm would feel his presence the minute he stepped on their soil and they’d find a wait to thwart his plans.
No, the best way to do this is to send some of his best men. They are seasoned warriors that had faced countless armies and knights, so a mere wolf should pose no problem to them. And capturing a hawk and delivering her to his castle should equally be a piece of cake.
Still seething, Rumplestilskin puts the crystal ball away in the cabinet, cleans his desk with a wave of his hand, then summons his chieftain. The sooner his men can leave, the better. He’s never been one for patience anyway.
~~~~~~~~~~
Unlike most nights, and never since they had decided to share a room, this time Emma wakes in her chamber in Elsa’s palace, all alone. She feels a twinge of worry, but that’s also become a normal occurrence for her whenever they are apart. Whenever it happens, Emma tries to pinpoint whether it’s because she is truly worried that something might have happened to Killian, or if it’s just because she’s grown so accustomed to having the wolf by her side that his absence unsettles her so.
Trying to dampen the feeling of dread she suddenly feels, Emma dresses as fast as she can, intent on finding the wolf’s whereabouts. She may be plagued by an irrational fear, although if she is honest with herself what she’s experiencing right now is sharper than the usual feelings of separation, but she’s going to put her mind at ease and find Killian. If it turns out to be nonsense, she’ll be happy to laugh at herself later.
A few questions here and there, and Emma discovers that Killian had gone to the Jolly Roger an hour before sunset. He had left word he’d be back soon, but none of the guards had seen him return. Seeing the princess’ distress, the guards on duty tell her he might have come back during the changing of the guard. They offer to inquire for her, but Emma tells them it’s alright. She’ll go to the Jolly Roger first.
The two guards exchange a look and one of them offers to accompany her on her trip across the bay. It’s night and, as winter approaches, some portions of the sea have frozen over, making for a rather perilous journey into town. But it’s a night of festivities in Arendelle, with guards spread out everywhere, so Emma declines. They are needed at the palace and there seems to be enough light throughout the land to make the journey a safe one. Besides, with so many guards spread out across the terrain, Emma thinks she’s bound to meet one every 5 minutes from here to port.
She’s two thirds into her journey when she hears it. It’s an indistinct sound at first, like cracks breaking under pressure. She’s used to the sounds of the night by now, so it doesn’t worry her at first. One of the first things she’d gotten used to after the curse was the way sounds seemed more ominous at night compared to daylight. As if the absence of light amplified everything, but most importantly the feelings of fear and insecurity. Once faced though, most often than not, ominous noises turned out to have a rather innocent source, in fact.
Keeping that in mind, Emma stops and focuses on the sounds. They seem to come from the thicket to her left, indiscernible at first, then coalescing into three voices after a while. It’s apparent to Emma the men are moving towards her, but when she distinguishes the first words of their conversation, slabs of ice seem to pour down her spine. They’re talking about her, she’s sure. Words like “grab the princess”, “she’s close” and “Dark One” dispel any possibility that they might refer to someone else.
They’re coming from behind her and to the left, so she can only go forward. She starts running, hoping that she’ll be far enough by the time they make it out of the thicket and they won’t see her go across the bend. She’s not that lucky though. She’s almost across the corner when the strange men clear the shrubbery and one of them notices her. She starts running faster, while angry cries follow her across the field.
The silhouette of the Jolly Roger looms in the distance once she takes the bend, but it’s still a good distance away. Her lungs start to burn from lack of oxygen, but she pushes on. Her left side starts throbbing, and she still pushes on. She’ll rest once she’s safe and Killian’s men have captured the three cronies after her. Eyes on the ship, Emma misses the upturned stone in her path. Her foot catches on it and she goes down hard.
Sharp pain erupts in her right elbow and chin as she falls on the hard ice. She’d managed to cushion her fall by thrusting her hands forward, but apparently she hadn’t been quick enough. Emma tries to get up, and more pain shoots in her ankle.
The thugs are drawing nearer and nearer and she starts to panic. If she’s injured, she won’t make it to the ship. They’ll get her and Killian will never find out what happened to her. Not to mention he’ll never be able to break the curse by himself. She won’t let that happened to him!
She gets up and makes her way further. Every step is agonizing, but she won’t stop. A sprained ankle won’t be what gets her captured. Not tonight! She pushes forward, and when she hears the goons taking the bend after her, Emma yells for help and prays that someone on the Jolly Roger sees her or hears her even above the chaos of the festivities.
~~~~~~~~~~
Due to his young age, Henry finds himself consigned to the ship on this night of celebrations, on guard duty. Not that he minds. His mates love such feasts, but Henry has never seen their appeal. Women, drinking and gaming seem such trifling occupations when one could draw or read. And by general consensus, the other men do not make fun of him, so it’s a win-win situation, Henry reckons. But sometimes he wonders if that’s due to his age or if his captain has had a word with the others about it.
Speaking of the captain, Henry raises his eyes from his book to look at the wolf again. The animal has been pacing restlessly across the deck for the past hour, and he’s starting to get nervous himself. Glancing up, he catches master Jamison’s worried expression. Their gazes follow the silhouette of the beast to the side of the ship. The wolf has his muzzle up in the air and his ears twitch on the wind as if trying to listen to something.
In the next instant, he lets out a feral growl, then dashes across the plank. Henry is up on his feet in an instant, book falling by his side. He’s the first to make it to the plank, eyes scanning the dark expanse for a glimpse of the wolf. He notices it to the left of their ship, running across the frozen sea. His eyes trail the path ahead and he notices a slender figure making its way towards the ship, hobbling in obvious pain, and three larger ones behind it.
Horror grips his heart when he recognizes the figure. “Master Jamison,” he yells at the first mate, “the princess is under attack!” He doesn’t wait to see if his superior officer hears him, but makes his way across the plank, hot on the wolf’s heels. He needs to help them anyway he can. He’s barely makes it down the plank, when heavy footsteps come after him.
“Henry, grab this cutlass!” yells Jamison after him. The boy stops long enough to catch the weapon thrown at him by the older man, then the two pirates start running in earnest, ready to defend their masters.
~~~~~~~~~~
Emma makes it a few more feet before the thugs are on her, one of them grabbing her hair and pulling her backwards. The movement is so sudden, she loses her balance and falls on her back. The man pulls her up by her hair, then grabs her right arm and twists it behind her. Pain is radiating throughout her entire body by now.
A loud growl catches their attention and all of them direct their eyes towards the source. A large shadow moves across the ice from the direction of the ship and Emma knows at once it’s the wolf. He’s heard her and he’s coming to her rescue!
But the tiny hope is extinguished when one of the thugs pulls out a bow from behind his back. “The wolf our master told us about. Shoot him dead!”, barks the man holding her captive.
“No!”, Emma screams and squirms against the thug, desperate to break free and save her beloved. The man pulls her closer and tightens his hold on her. “Easy, princess, we have our orders!” he grumbles low in her ear.
Emma watches in horror as the other man follows the wolf’s movements across the ice, letting go of the arrow when the beast is close enough. As the projectile flies towards its target, Emma cries in anguish. At the last minute, the wolf jumps high in the air, and the arrow misses him by a good distance.
“Damnation!”, cries the man with the bow as he extends his arm to grab another arrow. Seeing that the men are all focused on the wolf, Emma takes this opportunity and kicks the archer hard in the ass with her foot. He drops the bow as he tries to recover his balance, while the man holding her captive hits her across the head.
“Bitch! The master said we had to bring you back alive, but he never said you were to be unharmed,” he spits at her in anger. She’s in pain and scared, but she raises eyes full of loathing on him. She won’t go quietly!
The third man pulls out his sword and the scrape of the metal against the sheath draws her attention back to the situation at hand, eyes wide. The archer is still trying to get his bearings and pull out another arrow, but the wolf is almost upon them by now.
“Killian, be careful!” she yells, hoping the wolf will understand her warning. The thug is almost ready to let the second arrow loose, the third man making his way to his companion, sword at the ready, when the wolf jumps high in the air again and bites at the man’s hand. The bandit screams in pain and drops his bow, swinging his arm up and down in hopes of prying the wolf’s teeth loose. It holds on tight, though, the two figures clenched in a tight battle.
The third man runs to his crony’s aid, but before he can make a pass at the wolf with his sword, the ice under them gives and they fall in the sea. Emma screams and starts towards the wolf. The thug holding her pulls her back hard, laughing hard. “This is perfect”, he snickers. “The wolf dies as ordered and you are mine to take back to the master.”
Horrified, Emma thrashes in his grip. The man sneers at her and jars her into submission. “Hold still, w...” He doesn’t get to finish because a loud crack interrupts him. When the man slumps in front of her, Emma realises he’s dead, shot in the head. She raises her eyes in the direction of the shot and sees Jamison, smoking pistol in his hand. Henry is there too, running towards them.
“Killian”, Emma screams for her lover and scans the desolate terrain. The hole they’ve fallen through is there, but the waters are calm, a sign the struggle below has ended in the meantime. His name is torn from her lips again, panic rising through her.
Without thinking, she hobbles towards the crack in the ice and jumps in before Jamison can even open his mouth to stop her. The water is so cold and it feels like thousands of knives are piercing her skin, but she’s too desperate to pay any attention to these sensations. She opens her eyes and tries to scan the water. It’s too dark underneath and she can’t really see anything, but anguish pushes her forward.
She starts swimming down, hands and feet moving in arcs as wide as possible, hoping to touch the wolf somehow. Her lungs soon starts screaming for air, but she’s loathe to go up. Just as she feels she may have no other option, her foot catches on something. She turns around and sees two shapes tangled together.
Her muscles burning and almost out of air, she swims towards them and pries the wolf loose from the dead man’s hold. Grabbing the animal beneath the front paws, she shoots upwards. Horror starts to replace her relief at finding Killian, when they make it to the icy border and she can’t find the crack. Her strength is dwindling, as the last reserves of oxygen in her lungs run out.
She’s about to lose consciousness when her eyes land on a flicker of light and the contour of a hand. Jamison’s, she realizes in gratitude. With renewed determination, she swims in that direction; the hole is there and she shoots out, gasping for air as soon as she’s outside.
She feels the pirate’s strong arms grabbing the wolf and she lets go of her precious cargo. She’s still gulping the air, when smaller hands wrap around her upper arms and pull her out. Feeling a little better, she helps Henry drag her out on the frozen landscape.
She coughs a bit, then sees Jamison’s form huddled above the wolf. The animal is eerily quiet and her heart clenches. He can’t be dead, she thinks. Not like this! She crawls to him and takes the wolf’s head in her hands. “Please” she cries, “come back to me.”
As if he hears her, the wolf whines in a small voice, water gushing out of his mouth. The breath she hadn’t realised she’d been holding rushes out of her and Emma kisses the wolf’s head, eyes closed in relief. When she feels him shudder, the reality of their situation comes crashing down. They’re not out of this yet. They’re soaked wet and they’re out in the cold. The Jolly Roger is closer, but they have no heat source. And making a fire on board is complicated and dangerous.
Making up her mind, Emma raises her head. “Help me get him to the castle”, she pleads with Jamison. It’s for naught though, because the pirate hoists the wolf in his arms before she even finishes her words. Henry lends her support and together they make their way to the castle as soon as they can.

Worldbuilding: The Scion Way
more spaced out version here
Anonymous asked: 25. What is your worldbuilding process like?
[TL;DR for my TL;DR: Worldbuilding is tough, but my very basic model is “if I have a question, answer it. If someone might have that question, answer it. If it’s even possible to question that thing, answer it.”
TL;DR: my worldbuilding process is basically I have a dream or fantasy about a story I want to write, this gives me a glimpse into the world, then I start writing and answer questions as they come up, making notes as I go. Sometimes the answering questions leads to connecting other stories to the world that weren’t originally part of it simply because the combined worldbuilding aspects that have been accomplished for each one simply make sense together. Sometimes it means that I sit down and actually think things out because the world is huge and I’m excited but also I need to understand X,Y,andZ or I’ll end up so frustrated that I give up.]
Alrighty anon, I said this deserved its own post, and it does. But first let me clear up one or two things. First, my worldbuilding process highly likely won’t work for other people. Second, for just because I don’t work like other people work, does not mean my process (or theirs) is inherently bad in any way, it just means that I am an individual and my experiences and mind are different from other people’s experiences and minds. With that out of the way let’s move on.
More under the cut because this is going to get long.
The first thing I do in worldbuilding is unusual in that it doesn’t happen intentionally. I dream. Most of my worldbuilding begins with a dream. That’s why I say my method won’t work for most people. A lot of people, can’t or don’t want to, remember their dreams. With the dream, I usually get a first look at the world, and sometimes if I’m lucky the story within it that needs to be told. That gives me a big picture view, I know what kind of world it is. Then it varies depending on how much like our world that world is.
If it’s enough like our world, I just start writing and make everything up as I go along, or research it and pick and choose the things I want in the world.
If it’s different enough, I start big picturely. I think about what kind of things live in the world, how they get along, what kind of government there is, if there’s money, do they all speak the same language, ect.
Let’s go with an example, the most detailed worldbuilding I’ve ever done is for the universe that contains several stories: Light in the Dark, Sk8r Girl, The Invisibles, The Forgotten Realm of Dreams (Scion in Space), Space Cadet Luka, Is This Home Yet?, and an unnamed sequel to Sk8r Girl (tentatively I’m considering calling it “First Contact, or How to Talk to Aliens: An Autistic Scientist’s Guide to Proper Miscommunication”).
Within it I began with a few dreams, and then story ideas.
It all began when I was 12. (No really, Space Cadet Luka is a story I began when I was 12). Back then the first bits of worldbuilding I did was this: deciding that the story took place on a human colony on a planet that isn’t Earth, that there are animals that can do magic, that the colony maintains regular contact with Earth, that there’s nonhumans living in the colony too, that the people who could control the animals went on a journey and competed in some kind of competition, that they stayed in hotels for free while on their journey (because most of the time they did their journey right around age 13), that they could listen to “holiday” music from Earth on the radio whenever they wanted, and that there were cards that could help during fights between two people who could control the animals.
Some people might say that’s bad worldbuilding because little me didn’t include important things like: what they ate, the non-placeholder names of the animals or nonhumans, who ran the contests, if someone oversaw the journeys, what kind of money they use, the moral implications of the animal/controller relationship, who founded the colony, why is there a competition, what the hell are the ‘cards’ and how do they work, ect. But in little me’s defence, I was 12.
That was it for a while, I went to other stories. Then I picked up, Is This Home Yet? To be honest, I almost didn’t include it in this post because it started/currently lives it’s life as Frozen fanfiction, but it is part of the universe and I did create its entire world by scratch. It started with one simple thing: hatred directed toward some really asshole-ish politician who said those dumb things about rape like “it should be legal to force sex upon a woman because if it’s a legitimate rape the female body has ways of shutting that down.” From there I build up the world as I went, there was the true beginning of actually worldbuilding the entire universe.
I decided how the garbage is taken care of (trash pickup in Elsa’s neighborhood is every Wednesday); what they eat; how the government works; what kind of laws they have about things like discrimination against the lgbt community, racial issues, children wandering around without supervision; how the healthcare system works; what kind of problems (gangs, the mafia, human trafficking, drugs, ect) the police have to deal with on a daily basis; how insurance works; among other things.
From that I was able to build the world of The Invisibles, by adding in some simple but essential details: the inclusion of multiverse travels and theories; the everyday life of some adults (as opposed to high school students); what kind of companies are the same as our world; and minor details like the timeline and history.
For a while there were missing pieces in The Invisibles/Is This Home Yet world that broke the story for me. The most important one being that there was an agency regulating multiverse travel from a different universe in the multiverse, but I didn’t know anything about them or the world they lived in.
Then I had a dream about a skateboarding competition, two autistic lesbians, and an organization dedicated to ‘finding the truth’. And Sk8r Girl was born, and the world got bigger and better. I was able to decide more important things about the world like: who runs the school system when the government couldn’t care less about making sure people are educated because there’s ‘not enough money’ for that; who builds parks and bridges and handles the general infrastructure of the cities and towns and countries; how things might be different if exploration of the ‘new world’ focused a little less on ‘this is our land now’ and a little more on cooperation; how museums work; how children are handled when it’s discovered they’ve willingly (through either their own choice, or the choice of someone who was supposed to be taking care of them) fallen through the cracks of the system; how the general public handles autism, mental illnesses, and minority religions/people; and slightly more obscure things like differences in ancient myths.
After that I was able to create Light in the Dark, because it was in the same world, just set a few years earlier and about two side characters from Sk8r Girl. This allowed me to build up how the economy works; how companies work; how arranged marriages for business deals work; how college/university is different when it’s mostly handled by an organization dedicated to knowledge instead of private companies; how someone who doesn’t work for the big organization views it.
From all of this I was able to tie together The Invisibles with Sk8r Girl by allowing the big organization to be the organization that oversees multiverse travel.
The single most packed with worldbuilding story of them all is The Forgotten Realm of Dreams, which began from a dream and was originally not part of the universe.
[side note: The Invisibles/Is This Home Yet (though always in the same universe as each other) weren’t originally part of this large universe and neither was Space Cadet Luka (which is kind of duh because Space Cadet Luka existed well before any of the rest of these did). So originally this universe consisted solely of Light in the Dark and Sk8r Girl, the first one to get added to it was The Invisibles, when I realized that the organization was what I was missing from it, that brought Is This Home Yet with it; the second thing I added was The Forgotten Realm of Dreams and Space Cadet Luka when I realized the organization being the leader in space exploration on Earth (having unified all the disparate space organizations under their one banner through the clever use of money) would make for the perfect organization to be the face of humanity in a relatively peaceful galaxy, and being full of scientists and knowledge seekers and explorers would have made for excellent colonists to start up colonies on other worlds (and then study and work hard to cooperate and live in harmony with any native beings of the planet). Space Cadet Luka was easily attached to The Forgotten Realm of Dreams because I was lacking names for the nonhumans, and having them be some of the same species as in The Forgotten Realm of Dreams adds like 5 extra levels of stuff to the world.]
For it I have to build up entire alien civilizations (including religions, histories, biologies, governments, health care, cultures, ect); answer science questions; create multiple money systems; construct multiple languages with regional variances and both ancient, middle, and modern forms; design spaceships; interweave among all of that a deep secret and mystery of the universe; design entire planets and ecosystems; create new technology; repurpose ‘old’ technology; then I have to take everything I’ve created and put it through the lens of a nonhuman character or several; and be able to answer literally any question a fan would think to ask me about any of it.
Worldbuilding is tough, but my very basic model is “if I have a question, answer it. If someone might have that question, answer it. If it’s even possible to question that thing, answer it.”
I don’t know if any of this helps you at all, but it should give a weird look into my brain that is unedited and possibly doesn’t make any sense.

Bounding Beyond the Stars is the overall title for not just one story, or one world, several worlds to universes, but the entirety of my creations as a whole!
Here’s some relevant Vocabulary that I’ve devised to help with understanding BBtS and all of its funny little traits.
Domain: There is one Domain per creator irl. I’ve noticed that many authors and writers and otherwise creators of worlds will make a story in one setting within a particular universe, and then in their next work, make an entirely new one with absolutely no connections to the previous work, other than sharing a creator. Two entirely separate universes, narrowing down to the stories taking place within, connected by only the author. And for all that I’ve looked, there’s not really an exact term to describe that other than works, or creations, of the author, which I think can be a bit confusing. So at least for my purposes, I’ve made a whole new sphere of containment, to group together works in an easier to grasp term. A Domain refers to every single creation of a person, so as to give myself a limit and explanation for as to why my higher powered characters shouldn’t just be able to pop into fuckin’... Frozen, or something, and say hi to Queen Elsa (idk I watched it in like 2014, but it’s the first popular thing to come to mind), when intermultiversal travel via portal, power, or some kind of magic manipulation is a key part of many power sets— and, well, the obvious answer is that Copyright Infringement is why they can’t, but *that’s* pretty immersion breaking now, isn’t it? This is very relevant to my writing because I create and worldbuild on the macro scale above universes themselves. I work on the concept of realities being contained entities rather than ever expanding, because tbh? I read a ton about the theory that our universe is ever expanding, and I then proceeded to give myself a headache trying to comprehend what could exist *beyond* what exists. With that in mind, I’mma lead into the next essential vocabulary term.
Void: The Void is the Absence of All That Is. The Void is what never happened, what never can be, and that which has ceased to be. Flowery prose aside, the Void is the Counterpart to Reality, and it is a concept/non-entity I spent a great deal of time considering and designing. Because, I’ve noticed, that it’s very common in media such as novels to anime to webcomics that, well... 1. Dark=Bad, 2. Destruction=Bad, 3. All of those things are bad, and therefore evil, and often malicious.
As I’ve taken inspiration from shows like Madoka Magica, a bit of Evangelion— mostly what I’ve read about it as a deconstruction of Mech anime, and Worm— I really really like to use Subversions of tropes, Aversions, and basic Deconstructions of popular character archetypes to common plot devices, or even overall concepts that my brain’s refusing to give me examples of right now.
Back on topic, though, whenever I see something with a name like or exactly being The Void in a story or other such type of creative content, it... never really matches my personal understanding of what Void means, as a word with a definition. To me, and as such I’ve written it, the Void is absolute emptiness. It is nothingness incarnate, where truly, completely, not even concepts can survive before ceasing to be. This will make more sense as I move on, but to emphasize, the Void itself does not truly *exist*, but it is the absence of existence at all. It is a corruptive force, though, always gnawing at the edges of Reality. It has no agenda, no purpose, and it cannot even be compared to a single cell organism. It has no sense of self preservation, because the Void has nothing to preserve. Just as a tide erodes the cliff side stone, the Void erodes the structures of reality. I’ll mention while we’re on the topic, that this is one of the reasons why the Gods exist. I’ll elaborate on them eventually, because now it’s time to move onto Reality.
Pure Reality: Pure Reality is the canvas, the egg, the cell, the vessel in which Concepts can exist. It is the base layer of all existence, and provides structure for which anything can come to be. Pure Reality is, unlike the Void which is pure absence, pure presence. Pure Reality is, in fact, a stray fragment of an even higher entity of Creation simply dubbed True Reality, which is called so to describe its nature as a perfect structure. It will be the next term, so for now I’ll remain on the topic of Pure Reality. The Pure Reality in which BBtS takes place is, as of right now, the only existing piece of creation in the entire Domain that is not True Reality. Pure Reality is massive beyond human comprehension, beyond scale that even I can’t actually visualize on a personal scale. It envelops Three Multiverses, another term to be described later. Each Multiverse houses several Universes, all of which are related through similar conceptual structures and universal laws. The smallest is Tanzanite, home to only 10 Multiverses. Then there is Citrine, housing 12. Peridot is the largest Multiverse, home to 24 total Universes, each populated with unimaginable numbers of lifeforms and potential beyond anything you or I could imagine. Pure Reality is actually somewhat comparable to a simple Cell, actually. It is surrounded by a wall that is unique and, to Gods, Mortals, Immortals, and any entity that are neither or otherwise not— the Crystalline Wall is conceptually indestructible to all but the Void, be it the Void itself or an unfortunate replica of its forbidden effects. It is the ultimate defense of all that is known to those who exist within Pure Reality, who, I forgot to mention, has a name. Pure Reality is referred to as Etherivium by those who are aware of it— much of the true nature of the Pure Reality is largely unknown to all but the Gods, and even then, the Gods are not all knowing. They were born of it to exist as caretakers, and to maintain Etherivium’s Core Concepts and various structures.
True Reality: This is the infinite realm in which the Progenitors reside. True Reality itself is the main body of existence that Etherivium split from, an event that occurred before Time has begun its firm grasp in True Reality’s conceptual idea of Things That Could Be. Time itself is a confusing concept, as what defines it is dependent on many factors— time slows as you fall from a tree, when you can count the leaves for an age before your back hits the ground. Or it can quicken, when a pair of friends spend time together, and an hour has passed in a few blinks of enjoying a video game together. So that, for example, is how Time is perceived on a mental scale. But it can also change and warp in terms of spatial warping, too. Gravity alters the passage of time, for instance. Time can flow strangely in more ways than one, and especially so with Magic thrown into the mix. But Time may be discussed as a Concept later on. True Reality is named, similarly but more succinctly than its child, Etheri. Etheri, to a human witness, manifests as an ultimate culmination of everything powerful and stable and full of unburdened potential given form into that of an infinite landscape. It is an expanse of deep, rich black vines, intertwined with silver structures of living wood and raw mana, (which is a vague description right now, but Magic and all that it relates to is something I have a very in depth grasp on. It’s on of the most important parts of my worlds, as a force as everpresent and undeniable as Gravity, and used by my most developed worlds as an extension of ones self, a necessity to just functioning in general, as natural as oxygen.)
Everything within Etheri is, in a certain way, refracted, mutated, fused, and/or otherwise different than just one thing. Since it is a place in which Chaos exists in its most... Hmm. Well, it is in somewhat of a pure state, as it exists in unification and flawless tandem with Order. Life coexists equally and perfectly with Death. Light, or rather more accurately (Light is an inaccurate descriptor, but it is the most common term) The Existence and Presence of Energy, is equivalent with its counterpart Core Concept, Darkness, which is also an inaccurate term, as it is more accurately the concept of The Absence of Energy. Light without Darkness is stagnant, and frozen, as Light is the name of the Concept of All Forms of Energy. Any type at all, be it light itself to kinetic or friction or static— Light is all Energy, specifically Energy in its existence. Darkness, conversely, is the countering concept in which Energy is not nonexistent, but rather not present. More on how the Six Core Concepts function as foundational pillars for a Universe will be described later.
To close up, I will describe the Progenitors. There are as many Progenitors as there are different ideas, concepts, creations, and dreams in the Plasm of Reality (recall the cell comparison which I realize I got off topic from— Within the Crystalline Wall, Etherivium contains a... technically, a more conceptual structure than actually physical thing, called Reality Plasm. It can be compared to a latticework structure, or a grid, or my favorite, a sheet of cloth for which Gods may embroider their own concepts onto. Anyway, the most powerful of the Progenitors are entities based upon Concepts that occur more and more with more necessity for others to exist upon. The broadest, most basic, general Concepts are called Core Concepts. For most Universes, there are always at least the basic Six: Life, Death, Order, Chaos, Light, and Darkness. These Concepts, all together, encompass everything needed for a universe to function. The Progenitors, similar to Conceptual Gods which are, actually, born from Etherivium’s “memory” of the Progenitors— The Progenitors are the source of the Concept they are born of. There is only one entity in all of the Ashen Domain (the name will eventually be clear— it has to do with a character/entity that is still being developed.) that can damage a Progenitor— and furthermore Destroy one. They are, in terms of sapient life and characters, the ultimate Highest Tier in terms of, in general, everything. They are the true and ultimate embodiments of their Concepts, and are alive and sentient in ways incomprehensible to mortals.
All together, the Progenitors are the sources of Concepts, and Etheri works with them for a single, simple goal. An impossible one, even, but even that is uncertain. The Void must be filled in, until there is nowhere that the Void Is and Is Not. Everything, everything and all that could ever be, Etheri desires in the purest of ways to make it so that the Void has been replaced with Reality. It’s a little difficult to think about, because an infinite plane of Existence versus an infinite Absence of All should have no outcome. And maybe it will go on for the Domain’s eternity, stagnation in progress while the conceptual madness of things that could be forever evolve and refract off of each other beyond the scope of my imagination.

Any BenxJordan headcanons left after all teh questioning I've put you through like what would happen if they actually got married? Possibly the ship meme?
1.Whois the most affectionate?:
Ben.
Even if he’s shown time and again that he is definitely not likeall of Jordan’s exes or her circle of casual intimate partners (bethey immortals, Fae, or mortals), the trauma and the instinctiveaversion to being TOO open with her feelings, affections, and justgenerally putting herself in a vulnerable position is extremelydifficult to get rid of.
Giveit a few decades, though, and Jordan will be the one constantlyshowering Ben with kisses, oftentimes with full knowledge that peoplecan see and someone is recording it.
2.Bigspoon/Little spoon?:
Jordan.
Have you seen Ben’s muscles? Do you want to be hugging all that orbe hugged by it? Because Jordan sure as hell loves feeling all thatstrength like damn.
3.Mostcommon argument?:
Howmuch work Ben is taking on.
“You’re a chronic workaholic, ifanyone’s supposed to be working their ass off and skipping sleep,it’s me, seeing as it’s physically and magically impossible forme to drop dead!”
4.Favoritenon-sexual activity?:
Unloadingand discussing all the ridiculousness of Auradon politics and governance, plus a little bit of current events.
As youmight expect, Arendellian chocolate is a highly valued commodity, both in the state itself and elsewhere for strictly unofficiallyplying others to your thinking.
A potential supply crisis with cacao beans sends the entire realm into a tizzy, and Jordan and Ben both laugh at it and genuinely worry, as Queen Elsa famously, subtly threatened to cause catastrophic damage to the economy and supply chains of Auradon by shutting down Arendelle’s ports, if chocolate was included in the “anti-lobbying” law, alongside silver dollars, precious metals and jewelry, and real estate.
5.Whois most likely to carry the other?:
Ben.
Jordan COULD carry him by virtue of being able to manipulate herphysical strength to however she wants to, but honestly, with someonelike him, would YOU want to be the one carrying him or be carried?
6.Whatis their favorite feature of their partner’s?:
Jordan’seye game is top notch, bringing plenty of meaning to terms “windowsto the soul” and “eye fucking.”
Bennever really quits Tourney or vigorous physical exercise, and Jordanlikes the fact that she’s got her own personal iron-man to protecther from danger and make her feel safe, almost 24/7.
7.What’sthe first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings forthe other?:
Benstarts to be a little more friendly and flirty towards Jordan.
Jordanproceeds to get VERY antsy, nervous, and flighty around him becauseshe can’t help but think of all the numerous politicalramifications and the negative attention that could arise from amortal king having an immortal lover, who might eventually become animmortal ruler and set a dangerous precedent.
8.Nicknames?& if so, how did they originate?:
Ben:“Ironman,” “Your Majesty,” “His Highness,” “Big Man”“Beast Boy,” all alluding to his physical size and strength, and position
Bendoesn’t really do nicknames, seeing as he loves saying Jordan’sname and would never think of calling her anything less perfect andbeautiful, as that would be an insult to the perfect and beautifulcreature before him.
(Cue a flustered Jordan smacking him.)
9.Whoworries the most?:
Jordan.
Benhas long learned to let go of unnecessary stress and anxiety byvirtue of physically being unable to give, nor have that many fucksto begin with.
Jordan, being immortal, and not needing things like sleeping or eating, does.
10.Whoremembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant?:
Jordan.
Perks of being an immortal magical creature with an impeccable, infallible memory.
11.Whotops?:
Ben.
Jordan initially has issues with it considering that it’s playinginto the stereotype of genies all being submissive as hell, and onher own fears and insecurities about being controlled, but sheeventually decides to say “Fuck it” to what other people think ofwhat she does in the bedroom.
“Ifyou seriously spend a good chunk of your time thinking about what Ido, in private, specifically away from people’s eyes, and wouldrarely, if ever, tell them about it, then something is VERY wrongwith you.”
12.Whoinitiates kisses?:
Initially,Ben, before Jordan overtakes him on that regard as she gets over herinsecurities. It starts to get more and more frequent the older Bengets, because she is VERY aware that she can’t do this forever...
13.Whoreaches for the other’s hand first?:
Ben.
Jordan is highly reluctant to make any sort of physical contact asidefrom self-defense or derisive gestures.
14.Whokisses the hardest?:
Ben.
He’s something of a non-Newtonian fluid: hardens and solidifies assoon as you expose them to some initial pressure.
15.Whowakes up first?:
Ben,but Jordan generally doesn’t sleep at all, so it’s kind of a mootquestion.
16.Whowants to stay in bed just a little longer?:
Jordan.
She gets precious little time with Ben because of said chronicworkaholism, and his numerous inescapable duties.
17.Whosays I love you first?:
Ben.
Jordan is VERY careful about throwing such strongly worded termsaround, to the point wherein she only has a handful of things shewill say she loves, and dislikes it whenever marketing slogans orreviews overuse the term.
18.Wholeaves little notes in the other’s one lunch? (Bonus: what does itusually say?):
Jordan.
“Try to actually get home on time today, your majesty; your lovinggirlfriend would love to do more for (and to) you than make you lunch.”
19.Whotells their family/friends about their relationship first?:
Ben,because it would be a scandal otherwise.
It’s a lot less theatricaland disastrous than “Did I Mention?” considering he’s underJordan’s “spell” by his own volition.
20.Whatdo their family/friends think of their relationship?:
Beastand Belle are highly supportive of it, though only the latterseriously talks with Ben and Jordan about the legal and politicalramifications. Beast just thinks he can claim that he loves who hewants, and does what he does, and bulldoze it through the legislativesystem, just like he had most of Auradon’s laws and legislation.
(Ona side note, this is why the production of all his favourite snacksare so heavily subsidized and why Castle Beast is required by law toalways have an “emergency supply” of the ingredients to makethem, along with capable staff.)
Aladdin,Jasmine, Genie, and Eden are similarly supportive of it, though allof them do constantly remind her to take advantage of the time theydo have together, and help her through the more interesting andunique perils of Djinn/Mortal relationships and the hell that isbeing the lover of a royal.
21.Whois more likely to start dancing with the other?:
Ben.
He’s as good as Beast is, which is to say, not at all aside fromthe annual “Tale As Old As Time” waltz, but Jordan can’t helpbut oblige him because it’s so much fun.
22.Whocooks more/who is better at cooking?:
Jordan.
Ben has staff for cooking because his time, energy, and skills areused for much more important things. That aside, she does obviouslycook and do recipes on her channel.
23.Whocomes up with cheesy pick up lines?:
Ben.
Jordan does not know what compels him to use his wide vocabulary andskill with linguistics and speech to make the lamest, most awful punsshe has ever heard (and that remains true for the rest of theforeseeable future), but she does know that it’s both annoying andstrangely endearing.
24.Whowhispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear duringinappropriate times?:
Jordan.
As with the Dangerous Liaisons headcanon series, she doesn’t havethe same sense of modesty nor the same standards as humans do.
25.Whoneeds more assurance?:
Jordan.
Ben is perfectly capable of standing on his own and self-regulatingby virtue of being the well-adjusted person that he is, and nothaving the giant slew of emotional issues that Jordan has.
26.Whatwould be their theme song?:
Ican’t figure out something at the moment, sorry.
27.Whowould sing to their child back to sleep?:
Jordan.
She isn’t worn out by meetings, royal hearings and publicappearances, and legislative work, alongside the fact that she canstay awake all night (not needing sleep and all) and let her husband get his much needed sleep.
28.Whatdo they do when they’re away from each other?:
Benreads and constantly goes about working and hanging out with hisconstituents. Jordan makes videos, and experiencing things forherself without Ben, both as a helpful habit for a healthyrelationship, and as training for when she inevitably outlives Ben.
29.oneheadcanon about this OTP that breaks your heart:
Jordanis always aware of Ben being mortal and that he’ll eventually die,and there’s nothing she can do about it—and neither does Ben WANTto live forever, because he’s well aware of how even the best willeventually be outshined by the new generation.
Itgets worse and worse as Ben gets older, and weaker, and sicker, andshe constantly puts up a happy face for him...
30.oneheadcanon about this OTP that mends it:
… Benreminds her that she doesn’t need to do it, that she has hispermission to be sad, to share all her feelings, fears, and worrieswith him, just as she did for him for all these decades.
It reallyhelps keep her sane (in as much as you could call a djinn “sane”considering they don’t really have a remotely human psyche), andthough his passing still hurts, it doesn’t hurt as much if shehadn’t had all those long, important conversations with Ben.
