When I read the story of Mohammed Alanqer ( @famousturtlebanana ) I was reminded of my own dear father, Christopher, and how much he protected me during my childhood, so I dedicated this poem to them both. There are more similarities between the Alanqar family in Gaza and my family in Australia than there are differences.
Mohammed was supporting his young family (wife Enas, and children Layan, Sarah and Adam) with a tech startup when war broke out in Gaza. During the war, young Amir was born.
His son Adam has hepatitis and his son Amir has blisters on his feet. He is struggling to provide food for his children because the prices of groceries in Gaza are so high, and there is no aid coming in.
You can help by donating to his GFM. If you cannot afford that, you can share this post. If you're a creative of any type, he would love you to create art for him.
His campaign is number #174 on el-shab-hussein and nabulsi's google doc as well as being reblogged by 90-ghost here

Trapped Family in Gaza Appeals for Help to Survive🥹🍉
🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸
I am Mohammed Alanqer, married to Enas Majed. We have three children, and recently, during the war, we welcomed a new baby, making our children four now. We pray to God to protect them and keep them safe from harm in this harsh war.💔🥹
When the war began, I was deeply worried about our three children, and now, with the arrival of our new baby, our concerns have only grown. For over 300 days, we have been suffering and fleeing from one place to another. We pray to God to protect our children and keep them safe from harm in this harsh war.💔🥹
Amidst the ongoing war in Gaza, we find ourselves as a family trapped between walls of fear and despair. I, Mohammed, a father of three children and a husband to a woman in her eighth month of pregnancy, live in an environment filled with threats and risks.🌹
My technology startup, which I built with dedication and hard work, was destroyed during this war, leading to the loss of our livelihood. My children, Layan, Sarah, and Adam, no longer have the opportunity for education due to the destruction of schools, posing a significant threat to their future.
My wife, Enas, lives in constant anxiety due to her advanced pregnancy and the destruction of hospitals in the area. After losing my job and source of income, I find myself in a severe financial crisis, unable to provide for the needs and safety of my family.
Our family home was destroyed due to the war, forcing us to flee and move multiple times, leaving us homeless. Everything has become difficult now; we cannot provide a safe place to live, nor can we afford clean clothes and food for our children. Additionally, our children have been afflicted with diseases such as measles, and our son Adam has been diagnosed with viral hepatitis.
"Layan & sara" -
- "Adam" -
Our only hope now is to escape from this ongoing hell and find a safe haven for our family. However, this requires exorbitant financial costs, with the coordination fee for crossing borders amounting to $5000 per adult and $2500 per child, a sum I cannot afford alone.
- "My home before the war "-
We urgently appeal for your moral and financial assistance to cover the necessary costs for escaping to a safe environment, where we can build a better future for our children and ensure the safety of our family
- "My home in the war" -
Thank you for your attention and support, and we hope you can help us in these difficult circumstances.
Newborn -amir ❤️☺️🌹

I've been messaging back and forth with @mohammedalanqer after he shared his fundraiser with me, and very quickly into our conversation I offered to draw a comic about him to help boost his gofundme. he was incredibly excited about the idea and shared so many lovely pictures of his family for reference. the text is based off his story of him and his family living under constant bombardment, which you can read here.
he has been able to raise €50,403 out of €58,000, meaning he only has €7,592 left to be able to evacuate. please share this comic as much as possible so that he can reach his goal!

Trapped Family in Gaza Appeals for Help to Survive
A Plea for Help from Gaza: A Family Seeking Safety
Hello, I am Mohammed Alanqer, married to Enas Majed, and we have four wonderful children.
We live in the midst of the ongoing hellish war in Gaza, trapped between walls of fear and despair. I, Mohammed, am a father of four children and a husband to a woman who was two months pregnant when the war began.
We struggle daily to survive in an environment filled with threats and dangers.
I lost our sole source of livelihood when my tech startup, which I built with dedication and hard work, was destroyed in the war. My children, Layan, Sarah, and Adam, have been deprived of education after their schools were destroyed, severely threatening their future. Amidst these harsh circumstances, my wife gave birth to our fourth child, Amir, in the midst of the war, adding to our state of despair and hopelessness.
My wife, Enas, lives in constant anxiety due to the destruction of hospitals in our area. I have lost my job and source of income, leaving me unable to provide for my family's needs and safety. Our home was destroyed by the war, forcing us to flee repeatedly and rendering us homeless.
We now face extreme difficulty in providing a safe place to live, clean clothes, and food for our children. Additionally, our children have contracted diseases like measles, and our son Adam has been diagnosed with viral hepatitis.
Our only hope now is to escape this ongoing nightmare and find a safe haven for our family. However, this requires exorbitant financial costs; the coordination fees for crossing the borders amount to $5000 per adult and $2500 per child, a sum I cannot afford alone.
We urgently appeal for your moral and financial assistance to cover the necessary costs for escaping to a safe environment, where we can build a better future for our children and ensure our family's safety.
We are in desperate need of your support. Any donation, no matter how small, can help save our lives. Thank you for your attention and support during these harsh times.

Voices from Beneath the Rubble: A Life Suspended in Gaza
Art by @norrriey & @sailing-ever-west ♥️
Rebuilding Lives: A Family's Struggle and Need for Support in Post-War Gaza
In the heart of Gaza, a once-thriving family now grapples with the harsh realities of war. Mohammed Alanqer, a dedicated engineer, had built a promising technology startup that was the cornerstone of his family’s livelihood. However, the war has left his business in ruins, and his family displaced, facing severe financial and health challenges.
The Impact of War on Livelihood and Education
The destruction of Mohammed's startup has stripped the family of their primary source of income. This loss is compounded by the closure of schools in Gaza, depriving their children, Layan, Sarah, and Adam, of their right to education. With the educational institutions in disarray, the children’s future remains uncertain, threatening to deepen the cycle of poverty and instability.
Health and Safety Concerns
The war has not only affected their financial stability but also put the family's health at risk. The destruction of hospitals has left Mohammed's wife, Enas Majed, in a precarious situation, particularly during her pregnancy with their youngest child, Amir. The family also struggles with medical conditions, including their son Adam’s battle with viral hepatitis and other illnesses like measles, which have become prevalent due to the lack of proper healthcare facilities.
The Urgent Need for Support
The family has been forced to flee their home multiple times, living in constant fear and without basic necessities such as clean clothes and adequate food. Their situation has become increasingly desperate, with the cost of escaping to a safer environment being prohibitively high. The financial burden of crossing borders, estimated at $5000 per adult and $2500 per child, is beyond their means.
A Call for Help
Mohammed and his family urgently need support to overcome these challenges. The total estimated costs for providing education, housing, and essential needs amount to between 27,817 and 42,485 euros annually. This includes:
- Education Costs: 11,817 - 18,485 euros per year
- Housing Costs: 12,000 - 18,000 euros per year
- Basic Needs: 4,000 - 6,000 euros per year
This financial assistance would enable the family to secure a stable and safe environment, ensure the children’s return to education, and provide the necessary healthcare to overcome their current difficulties.
Conclusion
The story of Mohammed Alanqer’s family is a testament to the resilience and determination to survive in the face of unimaginable adversity. However, their journey cannot be completed without external support. By contributing to their cause, you can help rebuild a future where Mohammed’s children can grow up in safety, pursue their education, and live with dignity.

Please Help A Family
This isn't something I've done before, so I may not be the best at it, but I want to help raise awareness for a family who's efforts to get by I have followed for some months here.
Mohammed Alanqer is a tech worker from Gaza who has been doing his best to gather funds for his family so that they can get by with the ever rising price of goods and the hope to eventually get to safety. His gofundme has been thoroughly vetted by multiple sources.
During the last year of fear and bombardment his wife and three children were joined by baby Amir. Four growing children who need nutrition that is increasingly difficult to find in Gaza.
He and his wife Enas Majed have done their best to protect their children, but disease has become all but impossible to avoid. The children have suffered through measles and Adam is in need of medical care for viral hepatitis.
Another truly admirable thing about Mohammed is that, despite the dangers that come with finding internet access and electricity in Gaza and the exhaustion that he must feel living under such stress, and despite tumblr's repeatedly closing his accounts, again and again he has used his platform to help uplift voices of others in Gaza as well.
So, please, follow one of his blogs on tumblr, @nourasbasha or @famousturtlebanana , to help spread his voice.
And, if you can, please donate to his gofundme:
If you do donate, and send me proof, I'll draw you a free sketch.

Why is no one talking to me? No one checks on my family anymore. Are we no longer important, the six of us?! When will I find someone to care about us? Will it be when we are bombed or dead?
The people here helped me, and the Tumblr community is wonderful. I love you all.
But no one wants to check on my family anymore. I have four children who live every day in fear, with bombings and death, in a place without sanitation, filled with epidemics and diseases. Even food is now just canned goods. Is a child supposed to live their life here without any sweets or treats?
Are we dead?! Is that why no one answers or asks about us? Or has the world's conscience died, so they don’t think about us or inquire about us?
I created a post telling our story in black and white because my family and I are starting to lose hope. Perhaps someone will look at the pictures and read the story, realizing that this family is on the brink of becoming a memory.
My children, my wife, and I read your comments and your words, and the messages you send. Why have you stopped? No one is standing with us. You know, even internet and electricity here are hard to come by, and we walk a long way to reach a place just to tell you that we are still alive here in Gaza.
We hoped someone would fight with us, try to raise our voice to the world, send our campaign to friends, or even try to adopt our cause and reach out to people, asking them to write and share our story.
If I’m the only one here in Gaza trying to raise my family's voice and save them, I won’t succeed alone.
I'm writing this because I can't do it alone, and I hope you will support me and stand with me.
Just read this with your hearts. My family and I need your support with your own selves, minds, and consciences, not just donations, above all else.
I will attach a picture of my family here, hoping it will make someone look with their heart, talk to us, and say, “I will try to help you.”
This is the link to my campaign»»»
I hope to find someone who cares about whether my family and I are still alive.
💔🙏

There is nothing else I can do than ensure his story is known by more people and hope they can donate.

Hi everyone. As we all know things continue to get worse in Gaza, and Mohammed and his family desperately need funds. You’ve all been really helpful in raising funds for this campaign so far and I thank everyone who has spread these posts and donated. (verified, entry 174, row 178)
They have had to recently increase the funding target to €90k - these funds are paying for essential items like children’s diapers and food, which have skyrocketed in price and fluctuate daily. The price of a single pack of diapers is €50 ($53 USD) right now, and baby milk, as well as food staples such as rice and flour, are similarly expensive. While this graphic shows some of the cost inflation, price surges continue to worsen. A worm-infested bag of flour currently costs $100 USD.
They are still planning to evacuate as soon as that becomes possible and need to save up money for crossing the border, as well as for paying additional fees/taxes, which are absurdly high and taking advantage of Palestinians’ desperation to charge extortion rates while they attempt to flee and purchase basic necessities.
I know there are a lot of campaigns and donation posts going around right now. Mohammed and his wife have four young children and are taking care of them as best they can. You can read more about their family here:
I have been speaking with Mohammed every day. He is extremely kind. Please share his campaign and donate what you can.

At the Crossroads of Humanity: A Fa***y That Needs Your Voice, Hand, and Heart
In this world, where wars burn at its edges like an unquenchable fire, and where souls fade away amidst storms of pain, I write to you today not as a writer, but as a human being. A human being who has only words to awaken the shared conscience within us, the hope that we can still be better.
There is a family, just like any other, that once lived in peace. A modest home filled with children’s laughter and big dreams of parents striving for a brighter future. Mohamed, an engineer driven by resilience, and Enas, an English teacher who inspires hope in her children and students alike. They have four children: Layan (11 years old) with her keen intelligence, Sarah (9 years old) with a smile that melts hearts, Adam (4 years old) with his boundless energy, and Amir, a 6-month-old infant who knows nothing but his mother’s embrace. These children carry dreams in their eyes that have yet to be touched by war.
But war does not choose its victims. Today, this family has lost everything. Their home reduced to ashes, their security vanished, and their youngest sleeps cradled by fear.
We now stand at a crossroads. Can we look into the eyes of this family, and into the eyes of our own children one day, and say: “We tried”? Or will we choose silence and let humanity’s flame flicker out in this darkened world?
I know that among us here on this platform, Tumblr, there are writers, artists, creators, leaders, and hearts full of compassion. Imagine if each of us, with our pens, our voices, and our keyboards, chose to make a difference. Imagine if we shared this story, making it the talk of Tumblr and every corner of the internet.
Let’s think of this post as a beehive. Each of us is a bee carrying a drop of honey, a drop of hope, to create something bigger. Every share, every repost, every contribution is a step towards bringing this family to safety.
Let’s create a miracle.
Not because we need to prove something, but because this is the true face of humanity. Because we are stronger together. Because love and generosity are the most profound gifts we can offer, especially when the world needs them most.
If not today, then when? If not for them, then for whom?
We have an opportunity to show the world that the internet is not just a place for fleeting pictures and laughter but a force capable of changing lives. Let us show everyone that the Tumblr community can be a refuge for those who have none.
You, each of you reading these words now, are the true heroes of this story. Don’t let this post end here. Carry it on your wings, spread it as light that reaches every dark corner. Share it on Tumblr, weave it into stories on Instagram, tweet about it on Twitter, and make it a voice that cannot be silenced.
Let’s unite as one.
Let’s build a bridge for this family and create an unbreakable wave of hope.
> “In the end, none of us will be asked how many books we’ve read or songs we’ve written, but how many lives we’ve helped.”
“We may not change the entire world, but we can change the world for this family.”
Be the light that brightens their path. Share, create, and spread hope wherever you can.

If you don't do it, know that it is the devil who is holding you back.
Be humane and positive. My children and I are asking for something simple:
Just a repost of the pinned post. I know the goodness in your heart, and I know you understand that I’m doing this for my family. I’m only asking for your support and help because I truly need it.
Do it for any reason that might motivate you to accept my request.
Albert Schweitzer:
"The greatest test of human morality is our willingness to help those who cannot repay us."
And for those who are more compassionate and have the time, please share the campaign on Instagram and Twitter. Today, I need you to stand with me with all your strength.
