WARNING: This is a female reader going through their period. If the topic of a period/anything that has to do with a period makes you uncomfortable, then don't read it. Just remember that there's nothing wrong with a woman's period. It's a perfectly healthy body function :)

THE MOODS It felt like Changbin was blessed by the gods when he realized that you don't really have any moods when it's a few days before your period. The only thing that happened was that you craved extremely specific things. VERY specific things. Things that even Changbin, the foodie himself, questioned.

But he'd still make an effort to get those food items for you. Mac and cheese with mustard? Weird, but...sure. You want that chicken bibimbap that Minho made for you that one time because you don't eat red meat? Sure, he'll call up Minho and see if his hyung will make it.

Granted, Changbin will also try these strange cravings because...well...why not? Sometimes he loves them, sometimes he doesn't. But if it saves him from having to deal with you whining about how nothing else sounds good and you genuinely want that one specific food, then so be it.

THE BLOOD Another thing Changbin lucked out on was the fact that your flow was pretty average. It was medium the first day, heavy on the second and third, and then eased off on the rest of the days until it stopped. But just because it was like this didn't mean you weren't prone to leaking. You'd always struggled with knowing when to change out your product, and so there were times where you'd end up leaking through clothing.

And when that happened, Changbin was there to save the day. He wouldn't say anything, rather opting to give you his coat or sweatshirt so it wouldn't be visible. And if you two were alone and he caught the leaking, he'd be gentle about letting you know, offering his help in cleaning up or giving you new clothing so you wouldn't be uncomfortable. Softy.

THE PAIN Unfortunately, fate was not nice to you when it came to the pain factor. It was extremely not nice. You had pain on top of pain on top of pain on top of pain. Cramps, back pain, pelvic pain, tender breasts, nasty headaches, all of it. And they were all ramped up to ten. Not even pain killers could help you.

And so, Changbin made it his mission to help you through it by keeping you near and massaging wherever hurt. He'd rub your head, your shoulders, your lower stomach, your back, your hips, anywhere that you were saying hurt, he'd do everything he could to rub it out. Nothing was allowed to hurt his baby. Not even the pain of a period.

Sometimes, though, the pain got so bad that you couldn't even move. You were planted on the ground, and you were NOT getting up anytime soon. And so, whatever you'd need, Changbin would simply go and get it for you. End of story. Even if you complained, he'd still do it, because he'd go to the ends of the earth if it meant you'd feel better.

THE PRODUCT Like Chan, Changbin grew up with a sister, and he knew to respect women. Especially on their periods. And so, when yours was getting close, he'd always make sure to check your products to make sure you were stocked. And if you were running low on anything, he'd go run to the store to get it without you even asking.

He was never bothered by the products, either. Again, it's a healthy function of a female body, and Changbin knew that. And so, when he saw wrapped up pads and tampons, he'd never be bothered. And if people were coming over who would be, he'd simply go and put some tissue over the used products so nobody would ever see it. An absolute angel.

This is totally inspired by the fact that I just saw a banger Kalina edit but she is SUCH. A GOOD. VILLAIN. She doesn’t even have a physical form with which to harm people, and yet she is so genuinely horrifying that you forget that’s the case. It’s impossible to tell upon first watch when she’s lying or telling the truth in literally any scene. She delivers absolutely terrifying threats in such a calm and gentle manner, which almost makes the person she’s threatening feel trapped. Her demeanor is so chilling yet so soothing that you’re sort of left to feel like you should just accept whatever she’s saying no matter how mortifying it is. The table falls into silence so tense you could cut it with a knife whenever Kalina has a one on one scene with riz. She’s like the embodiment of tension. That feeling when you’re watching a horror movie and tensing up because you know that something is about to jump out of the shadows, that’s Kalina. God I’m obsessed with her. She’s also really hot but that’s unrelated to this post

Elain off and on page ACOSF

Spoilers for acosf ... duh.

I have to make this post because I haven't seen any connections made like the ones I'm about to make. Lots of quotes.. ACOSF is Nesta's arc but Elain's plot builds with it (if you noticed it)

Elain starts the book agreeing to Nesta's intervention and not being present during the ultimatium given to Nesta by Rhys and Feyre.. Elain insteads packs Nesta's belongings to be transported to house of wind. I assume Mor or Azriel take her belongings there because they are the only IC members not present at the intervention..

In SF, Nesta mentions often Elain in the past, which allows Archeron character development, but I want to speak on current plot points. This is the only time from the past I'll mention because Feyre's POV never saw Elain as this dark or desperate. ACOTAR 6 will we find out about Elain's darkest days?? Let there be light!

Finally Elain and Nesta interact *200* pages into Nesta's story. A long time for sister's who were inseperable from Feyre's POV. It's a significant momement for these two. In fact, all their interactions are significant plot points!

Elain is over Graysen and doesn't breakdown like Nesta expected at her mention of him. BECAUSE Elain does not need a male!

Nesta KNOWS the hurt she causes Elain will make her cry. SJM eludes someone will witness the tears. Elain!!! tell me whose shoulder you cry on??

*Not Rhys* .. Nesta anticipated Elain to fall apart on the way home, but she also thought mentioning Grayson would make her sob. Elain is stronger than Nesta thinks. But that doesnt mean she still wont cry at some point...

Azriel knows Elain better than Nesta at this point in time.. A day after the sisters' fall out and after *learning* pivotal information about the Trove, can we assume he's concerned about Elain? YES with that vibes change, check YES

Elain joins the IC conversation only to get *slammed* by Nesta. We know Nes can dish the burns but Elain's dialogue brings boss babe vibes. Even when hurt, she doesn't resort to demeaning language but instead slaps with the truth and leaves. MIC DROP! Girl has emotional intelligence.

This Chapter is Elain heavy dialogue. I dont think we've ever heard this woman speak this much, and you know none of it is without purpose! She moves the plot with this dance conversation and the way she speaks makes you know she knows what she is doing! Girl brings the plot!

re: 448 there actually is an explanation for this but it's much dumber than you could imagine.

see very early in 2022 the very first glimmers of the canyon forming involved some people posting meta suggesting that some of izzy's actions seemed possibly a wee bit racist and femmephobic. nobody was suggesting that he was an out and out conscious manosphere white supremacist or anything. but that a white man's obsession with making his indigenous boss conform to a hypermasculine racialized stereotype has, well, some implications.

some of the people who were most into izzy - they weren't the canyon yet, they hadn't even developed any of the really weird interpretations at this point, this was really the first time i saw them get weird about something - took GREAT offense at this. they thought it was accusing them, personally, of stanning a racist misogynist homophobe for reasons of being personally evil, and no attempt to explain otherwise would sway them. there was severe outrage and enormous piles of meta were written arguing that izzy's actions in season one showed that he actually had GREAT respect for women and people of color and was in fact possibly history's greatest ally.

one of the big places they looked for this was jackie. because there aren't many other places you COULD look: after all, he doesn't really interact with ANY other woman in the first season, and his interactions with the men of color on both ed and stede's crews were almost universally hostile. (the canyon hadn't yet cooked their brains enough to start arguing that izzy actually had a great relationship with fang and ivan at this point, there was pretty broad agreement at this early point that they clearly didn't like him. they also hadn't come up with "izzy is wife-coded" yet, which started as a joke around january 2023 and only became something anyone said seriously about two months after that.) but izzy did have a couple interactions with jackie and those interactions were, as you said, at least sort of vaguely cordial and involved cooperating on something. the canyon seized on this to insist that izzy clearly had a very strong longstanding relationship of mutual respect with jackie, showing his profound respect for women of color - more than any other character in the show, really, when you think about it! after all, nobody ELSE collaborates with jackie in the first season! as fandoms will do, this was gradually exaggerated into the idea that izzy and jackie are actually longstanding best friends and/or izzy is her very favorite husband and she's been trying to poach him away from ed for years because she understands that he is exploited and unappreciated by the cruel and ungrateful blackbeard.

it's all nonsense, but that really is where it started. i was there, gandalf.

I saw that you're learning Thai, and i was wondering if you had any suggestions for learning how to become literate in written Thai? I've been struggling to find good resources that focus on the writing aspect

hey, thanks for the ask! i'm going to preface this with the fact that i've only just started learning thai seriously, so a lot of what i'll talk about is very basic/beginner resources, or posts by other people who have studied it for longer. also i should say that i'm not quite sure if you mean the literary register, or being able to read/write words, and since i'm not 100% certain whether the course i use uses common or formal/literary register, so i'll just focus on the actual process of learning to read/write words.

i've been using the apps read thai and mango languages more or less concurrently, plus the app write thai.

read thai is specifically geared towards teaching the alphabet and reading, and while it doesn't have a lot of stylistic bells and whistles, it's the most useful thing i've come across for learning to read thai—i struggled for all of last year trying to learn it by other methods, but i more or less got the alphabet down in a couple hours last night by using the app. it has a reference tab for the entire alphabet, with audio files, romanisation, and the class of the letter.

my process with mango languages is to copy down every single new word i come across, with the romanisation/tone noted down the first time. i also write down all my answers for the quizz/question exercises, which i don't add romanisation for because they're comprised of words i've already learnt. this goes a long way towards getting me used to writing the letters—the muscle memory means that even after only one day i've memorised how to write a dozen or so words almost entirely.

write thai is an app i've used a little bit, which is aimed at practicing writing—it uses a practice-quiz system, where you practice a character, and then are asked to write it from memory. i haven't used this as much because it doesn't build up the muscle memory in the same way that writing with a pen and paper does, but i think it's still useful!

for other resources, the anki decks (consonants - vowels - consonant classes - tone rules) in this post by @lurkingteapot look useful (the memrise course is no longer available unfortunately). there's also the omniglot page, which has videos on how to write the alphabet, and the "reading" section of @kwaamfan's neocities page, which you might find useful.

I've read your analysis about when their attraction started and the coffee™, and it got me thinking that after they saw the statue they did something we haven't seen Hagiwara and Kaori doing on camera. (correct me if I'm wrong) but they never eat together. when one invites to other they say they've already eaten, they both eat out or eat alone etc, they are never in sync. even when they are having lunch with friends, they sit at different tables. In contrast, right after the leads see the statue, they go to eat together! and hagiwara invites sei to eat together next time too!

we see sei and fujisawa eating together only once I think, but fujisawa leaves before finishing, so sei is left to eat alone...

it all comes back to the email "are you talking about food?" (even sei compares the way hagiwara grills the meat with how he has sex lol)

Wait! after seeing the statue is not the first time they eat together, they do it at the work dinner hagiwara organized! hagiwara follows sei and sits with him, so as your post said it can be related to the fact that it didn't start at the museum for hagiwara.

Symbols are sometimes hard to interpret.

For example, there is something about Hagiwara and fingers. I'm still thinking on that. Regarding coffee, there IS a coffee maker in Hagiwara/Kaori's place. What does that mean? Kaori DOES sometimes have a cup/mug near her (in their early relationship flashback and when she's being more friendly with Hagiwara). There's a cup near her in episode 6 during the breakup. We never see her drink it though. If we see coffee as intimate connection, then it's there but never fully enjoyed. Plausible. Not as concrete/certain. So everything doesn't ALWAYS have a clear symbolic purpose.

However, with regards to food - you are correct.

Food is never just food in this show.

Eating food TOGETHER is a symbol of a deeper, more intimate connection. There's plenty of evidence to support that analysis.

Kaori and Hagiwara NEVER eat together. They sometimes make food FOR each other, but they don't eat together. Not even in flashbacks.

In episode 1, they share a beer. This is as close as they get to eating together. Hagiwara makes fried rice. Kaori had already ate the free snacks at work.

In episode 2, Hagiwara is eating toast. Kaori comes in to get herself yogurt. They never sit down together. There's also the BBQ with friends. Hagiwara grills the meat. However, they don't sit at the same table.

In episode 3, Kaori makes the rice balls with plum. Kaori doesn't eat. She mentions eating with Ayako. He eats the rice ball while e-mailing Sei. Wait a second....that's interesting.

In episode 4, they have the party at Ayako's house. Kaori is shown stirring the pot and Ayako plates the soup and beef. However, nobody is shown eating at all. Kaori goes to buy horseradish. Since I used to study the chemical properties of horseradish, my brain goes in science mode there instead of symbols. Sorry.

In episode 5, Kaori is eating at home. Hagiwara already ate out with a client.

Sei and Fujisawa DO share some meals together. They prepare some food together, they eat together, and they clean together. But it's more complicated than that.

In episode 1, Sei is cooking alone while e-mailing Hagiwara. He later cooks together with Fujisawa while discussing the two types of women. We never see them eat the meal though.

In episode 2, Sei and Fujisawa ARE eating together. Fujisawa thinks about something for work and leaves partway through.

In episode 3, Fujisawa offers Sei fruit and yogurt. Sei refuses. Neither of them eat.

In episode 4, they are cleaning up the dishes. The dishes are very clean already. Clean + Fujisawa = possible symbol. My first thought was this was a production choice and not a symbol. I was probably wrong though. This is right before the squeezing of the toe. There might be something to say in that as the show progresses, there's less and less ACTUAL food shown between these two. We haven't seen them with actual food since BEFORE the party when Hagiwara/Sei eat together. You could interpret this as the connection is no longer filling. A stretch, but plausible.

In episode 5, there are no food interactions for them.

Hagiwara and Sei eat together frequently (in show terms).

In the show intro (starting in episode 1), Sei eats pasta. Hagiwara doesn't eat. They are shown with beer and water. They are shown separate but visually together at the table.

In episode 2, they eat together at the party. Hagiwara is responsible for this interaction. He follows Sei to sit at a table with just the two of them. Sei actually finds out a little about Hagiwara during this interaction. Sei made it about work, but Hagiwara told Sei a bit about his girlfriend here. This IS before the museum.

In episode 3, they are shown on screen cooking simultaneously while e-mailing. They're not in the same space, but they are shown to be in sync. Sei has ramen. I've been told that Hagiwara is making rice.

In episode 4, they eat dinner together. It's a very intimate and personal conversation. They take turns grilling the meat.

In episode 5, they both eat bread together the morning after sex. Sei eats a baguette (a leaner bread), and Hagiwara's looks like a sweeter bread to me. However, I absolutely do NOT know enough about bread to confirm that.

That's 3 counts of actually eating together + 2 counts of visually eating together. That's if you count the intro scene. I do.

Basically, Sei and Hagiwara eat together EVERY episode from 1-5 (with episode 1 being the least concrete). If eating food together is a sign of intimate connection, then they are the ones that have it. They finish their meals together too. No one leaves mid-meal.

Note: There's no food at all in episode 6

Guess that's one more symbol/parallel to add to my personal wish list for the finale. Is it Thursday yet?

turns out, falling off the firemans pole on the school playground hurts. your scraped up knee was looking rough as you clutched it. your lower back ached with a duller pain, definitely less piercing as your poor knee.

you saw a shadow cover your spot on the woodchips. "are you okay?" said the squeaky voice of a boy your age.

you looked up at him, the sun making your eyes glitch while you tried to see his face.

once your vision was cleared, you saw a short boy with dimples and a cute bowl cut standing over you and looking at your busted knee. "do you need a band aid?" he asked, pointing a thin finger at the bloody skin.

"yes please." you said, tears forming in your eyes. you couldnt cry, not now, not with a boy standing right in front of you.

he ran to the first aid station by the bathrooms and fumbled for a bandage. when he hurried back over to you and knelt down, you tried to grab the band aid, but he wouldnt allow it.

"I'll do it, your hand looks scraped up too." he said while peeling apart the wrapper. you pulled your hands off of your leg and back and looked at them. both were bruised and the skin was dented from the failed attempt at catching your fall. just wonderful.

"im sunghoon," he put the large bandage over your knee and patted it with his hand. "who are you?"

"im y/n," you say, timidly walking into a conversation. "who's class are you in? i haven't seen you before."

"im in mr. jung's class, i just moved here last week." he crouched to sit on the pokey woodchips across from you, beding his knees to his chest.

"oh cool! im in mrs. lee's, we're right next door!"

he smiled and looked around the playground, searching the other children's faces. "do you have any friends?" he asked, wanting to get to know more people.

school had been rough for sunghoon so far. he couldve chalked it up to the fact that he was new, or that the kids needed time to get to know him, but the truth was that he was just an introvert. so were you, in a way. that's why you assumed he was talking to you, because you reminded him of himself, whether consciously or not.

"not really," you mutter, blushing and picking at a funny-looking woodchip. "i dont talk to people very much, i just do my own thing"

he grinned at your words, happy to find a new friend that was like him.

now:

"SUNGHOON!" you called from the kitchen, staring at the dishes in the sink, piled up like someone was trying to recreate the leaning tower of piza out of ceramic plates and silver cutlery. "HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DO THIS?"

he slinked into the room, a suppressed grin teasing his lips. he knew exactly what he was doing.

every time you come to hang out at his house, there are either dishes in the sink, clothes on the floor, or socks on the lamps. you honestly dont know how he does it.

"im just magical" he said, taking the plate out of your hand and opening the dishwasher. "you do know its my house, right?"

"you do know that if i never came over, it would be an absolute crime scene, right?" you retorted, earning a laugh from sunghoon.

you couldnt help but stare when his forearms flexed, the veins in his hands showing very well as warm water flowed over them. the brush in his hand didnt make it better. you sat back and leaned against the marble counter, watching him clean up.

he glanced over his shoulder to catch your attention. "what are you doing tomorrow night?"

"probably gonna get dinner with hannah," you say while giving him a quizzical look. "why?"

"do you want to hang out with me and some of the guys? we're doing a movie night and they said i should invite you."

"why not? i just wont ask hannah then!" you say, laughing. you only ask hannah to hang out when sunghoon is busy and you need a friend, which is kind of rude, but you two arent as close as you and sunghoon.

he laughs along and flicks you with water from his long fingers, and you shriek in shock. "sunghoon! dont you dare, or i swear-" but you were cut off with another flick of hot water and a smirk

the water soaked into your oversized tee, clinging to your skin as sunghoon continued to pelt you with droplets. you ran to the couch and covered yourself with a blanket, and he tackled you onto the plush cushioning, his legs tangling with yours and his hair sweeping over your nose.

when you realized that your best friend was currently lying on top of you, his hips pressed against yours and his lips only inches away, you scrambled to push him off of you, huffing "youre too heavyyy!" and "get off you weirdo"

your heart hurt when he pulled away, the knife twisting a little bit more.

you knew that any romantic relationship with sunghoon was destined to fail, that being with him was practically impossible. the fandom would go absolutely insane and sunghoon would be in too much turmoil to fix it. just rumors of dating could ruin a career in k-pop, let alone actual relationships.

so you kept your distance, or at least as much as you could. you shut down any romantic feelings because you loved sunghoon too much to jeopardize his job. sometimes, all you could hope for was a crack in the kpop world, one where "fans" wouldn't try to hurt someone for finding happiness.

"i should head to work. lock the door when you leave" said sunghoon while standing from the couch.

"sounds good! i'll finish those dishes i guess." you mutter, rolling your eyes out of a mixture of amusement and annoyance. you stand up and go into the kitchen to get to work.

back then:

sunghoon pushed his legs back and forth on the swing next to you. it had been almost two months since you two became best friends, and you were practically inseperable. every morning, you would walk to class together and talk about your soccer practice or his figure skating or whatever you thought of. it was great being able to finally have a friend to talk with and share things with.

you hand him a bag of kimchi, chewing on a piece of your own while slowly rocking back and forth on the swing.

sunghoon turned to you, opening his mouth to say something, but he stopped himself.

"what is it?" you asked, wondering what he was going to say.

"do you want to come to my competition this weekend?" his cheeks flushed when he asked you, and you laughed at his embarrassment.

"sure i'll come! i wanna see you on the ice!" you beamed at him and he grinned back, thrilled to have a friend that he could share his interests with.

now:

"hey sunoo!" you said as he stepped into the house, kicking his shoes off and giving you a hug.

And I'm not blameless: I think my response to your initial reblog came off rather snippy, so I can understand if that put you on the defensive. That wasn't my intention, so I'm sorry for that. I was genuinely curious - baffled, but curious. (Also sarcasm is kind of my default setting, and that can be hard to modulate online sometimes. :\) Maybe I should have left well enough alone, but it just happened that I'd been thinking/posting about Eönwë and Sauron, then I saw your post, and it made me go "???".

I think there's a disconnect here between how different people enjoy Sauron as a character. You're fascinated by the sympathetic traits he exhibits, whereas others - myself included - enjoy him precisely because he's a bastard. (I was posting about this the other day, actually - literally reading about one of his worst acts made him my favourite character!) And it can be frustrating to see people trying to gloss over these aspects of him, because it's removing what, to me, is one of the most fundamentally appealing things about the character.

But that doesn't mean that we don't see or acknowledge his good qualities, it's just that - speaking personally, anyway - they're vastly outweighed by the bad things he does. And to me, that gives him a fairly tragic dimension, the fact that he has all these admirable qualities and this capacity to do so much good, yet he ends up squandering it all in doing evil. And that juxtaposition between his good qualites and his evil deeds makes him even more compelling.

And from just a general show-watching standpoint, it can be quite frustrating to see these takes about how ROP should give him a redemption arc or whatever. Because that's not what the show is about. It's a prequel to an existing story: we already know the end, we know that Sauron is going to end up getting worse and become the Dark Lord in Barad-dûr, we're just following his journey to becoming that. If people are resistant to the idea of Sauron being redeemed, it's probably not because they believe that he's 100% no-nuance evil, but more because they know that that's simply not the story the writers have set out to tell. And yeah, it can get annoying to see people demanding that the showrunners throw out the actual LOTR story (which is what we're here for in the first place) just to cater to a small minority of fans.

But that doesn't mean you can't have fun in fandom playing with the idea. That's why we have AUs! Fandom is the space for going, "Okay, but what if he was redeemed?" I have ideas for stories about un-evil Mairon and Melkor in Almaren, or Mairon recovering in Valinor after accepting Eönwë's offer. It's a fun idea, and good to explore, but that's for fandom. It's emphatically not what the show itself is setting out to do, and getting the two mixed up is a recipe for disappointment.

So... yeah, that's my position. I hope it makes sense.

Also, Angbang is a wonderful ship, and I totally get the urge to yell about it at length. :) And I don't think you need to have a single unified view of it - again, that's the great thing about fandom, you can explore different options! I know, in general, I tend to write them having a more or less positive relationship - even monsters can love! - but Sauron's unhinged monologue in the show about their "contest of wills" had me giggling and kicking my feet. Both are good.

Okay first, I said friend not friends. And what they meant by death flags is that isha was potrayed as the kid who is clearly made to be cute and then be killed trope. I'm here talking narrative wise since you talked about the tragedy genre.

Second I also have a problem with Silco's words at the jail but others have pointed out so I'll only discuss how it played into Isha's death.

"Killing isn't mercy," Jinx said. The problem is how exactly she arrived to that conclusion? Has this always been a mindset that she held? If that is so, it's not a revelation. If this is a revelation I can't see where she get that conclusion. When Isha died, barely any killing happen on jinx's personal level that would give her that conclusion. The only killing that happened was Isha killing warwick. But what idea that she held before that was changed because of isha's death? If isha's tells her killing isn't mercy, then she must hold the idea before that killing is mercy. This sounds... unlikely? I never saw jinx killing for mercy so I cant tell if she holds that ideation.

The same with killing is a cycle. Now killing is not a cycle (but an effort to stop the cycle) does maybe sounds like something jinx might believe. Kill enforcers so they stop killing us which only lead to more killing. Still, how does isha's death proved to jinx that killing is not not a cycle? Isha wasn't killed by let's say caitlyn whose mom was killed by jinx or even enforcers. She sacrificed herself.

The entire warwick situation was because of the arcane which really has nothing to do with jinx. Literally nothing she could've done could've prevented jayce from getting thrown to a fucked up arcane invested world coming back home and immidiately one shot viktor without talking. And no, this is not the inevitability that i'm talking about. The inevitability should come from the respectable character's action.

Besides, Jinx kinda already break the cycle, right? You can call it running away but Silco literally said "walk away" so jinx not joinning the revolution is already walking away. In fact she already said this, "jinx is dead" and her entire plan at the janna temple was so that jinx could just die. If the message is walking away, she already does that and now you call it inaction. You cant call two same action as different thing when it convinience the argument. Silco saying "you should walk away, jinx" as if she has not done that already??? (Again i have problem with the killing is a cycle speech anyways so dont take this as my belief)

The problem she has caused the cities and vi <- honestly this will branch out to another critique that I have but the problem was NOT jinx. The problem was the system, jinx is a product of that system, S1 already establish it. In fact, silco said it himself, "killing is a cycle, one that has started before vander and I" the problem has started BEFORE Jinx/powder was even born. Also, what did she exactly do to Vi?

Jinx faking her death is another problem that i have but it's not that offensive but also, she still avoid the situation, my guy. Until the very end, she never resolved her trauma, she just pretend it never happen.

Isha emulating jinx is a silver lining I gotta say i do like that she sacrifice herself with Jinx's gun, sorta like, baby blue you taught her this. But still, isha's death has more to do with jayce shooting viktor than jinx's influence. It was not caused by Hamartia and i cant really follow the thought process of isha death to death isnt mercy and killing is a cycle. Isha did not have to die in that situation. That's why in my original post I said I thought the theme was passing the torch, isha continuing jinx's creation while jinx died in a free zaun.

Isha death isn't my biggest complaint. As I said it's just a missed opportunity.

ARCANE WASTED POTENTIAL (PART 1)

I feel like a dumbass because I actually didn't expect that Isha would die 😭😭😭. But I suppose that was my fault since my friend told me the deathflags were everywhere.

I thought Isha's story was about PASSING THE TORCH. Like– like think about it. I thought Jinx was going to die and Isha will continue Jinx's creation but with better mindset, in a better living condition. Like, it makes sense, right?

Vander and Silco grew up in Zaun that were so oppressed that the air was lethal to breathe on. Isn't this was what Felicia was worried about? Like having kids? In this damn economy? I think it's agreeable that Zaun is doing better when Vander and Silco took over (or at least closer to independence). During their time together and after their fallout. But both died never being able to see an independent Zaun.

Imagine what could have been.

Silco passed down the torch to Jinx. Jinx was reluctant at first, having being a Jinx and all that. But then during the Stillwater prison break, she realized that as long as Zaun is under Piltover's oppression, Isha will always be in the risk of danger. Ekko could come in, showing/reminding Jinx of another side of Piltover oppression that does not involve the enforcers, he could also show Jinx too the effect of shimmer on the kids who fell victim to Silco's shimmer empire.

Jinx then decided she'll do it. She'll take Silco's torch. She knows Silco's vision (and arguably Vander's too but maybe we can insert Vi into this). But she won't be like Silco. She won't sacrifice the cause for the end goal. She won't stay still like Vander aswell. Keeping status quo will only mean the only torch she will pass down to Isha is the current one, the oppressed, contaminated, covered in blood, grief, and trauma kind of life.

So she'll learn from them two. She'll fight for the children. For Isha, for the future generations, and for her inner child. For Powder that was never able to grew up in a healthy environment. Besides, acceptance by her people actually feels kind of nice. Jinx's story will be about her successing the mission her fathers failed. Achieving what all three of her fathers fought for. And for that, Jinx then will die breathing in Zaun's independence.

She then passed the torch to Isha, who despite having to spend her childhood under Piltover's oppression, will have the chance to grow up in a better Zaun. It won't be perfect but at least Zaun will be undergoing reformation during this time. Isha will be Jinx but without the psychosis that was often debilitates Jinx. She'll have a healthier mind, a healthier vision and view of Zaun. Then one day, she will pass it down to her own children, the kids who will grow in a reformed Zaun.

I just think it's such a missed opportunity to use Isha only as plot device and emotional leverage for Jinx. Besides, it'll tie up nicely with the parenthood theme in S1. That the strings of event passed down from Silco, Vander, then Jinx was not just tragedy for the sake of tragedy. It's about the struggle of these people passing down a torch for their children, designing it as such to their best effort so that their children won't get burnt holding it.

Journey to Mor Pankh rerun already so I can write a piece on Kumar and Shamane and how they never could’ve been happy siblings but Kumar would’ve had a breakdown over not being able to direct her anger at him.

Shamane genuinely wanted nothing more than to be by Kumar’s side and grow up with her the second he found out she was his sister. In his flashback talking about her you could really tell that he was so dazzled like “huh I don’t really get why this cool researcher is here” but rationalized her as a friend of the family. Hell she IS his driving point. And he’s her driving point too. The second he found out that she was his SISTER? He ran away and that’s where his character story started. Which is such an important and noteworthy choice because not every character event is a backstory or tells you what a characters bond to another was.

And Kumar’s arcanum WAS strong. She MADE it strong. She wasn’t born with a gift like KB or Matilda and grew it, she had to start from what was implied to basically be nothing. Then she still became such an incredibly strong arcanists and diviner that she discovered a star far before anyone who was born with strong arcanum did. She needs more time and steps to channel a strong arcanum but KB inherited her techniques and her ability and she’s a POWERHOUSE. She throws a STAR at people and she learned that from Kumar!!! She didn’t start with talent but she built it up so far that it took basically two people on the level of someone she taught and raised from childhood to bring her down!! Even then Kumar didn’t suffer extreme of injury considering how bad a rebound on a spell like that has to be on the mental state.

Shamane was driven to the city purely because he sought out Kumar who sent him that letter. After living and learning his entire life out there he went out to find and her and I can only imagine how stoked he was. Cause he likely knew that Kumar would’ve resented him and looking at how she turned out he was the first one to understand and accept that the bridges between them were already burnt.

At the same time I can’t imagine how Kumar must’ve felt learning that the prodigal child her family tossed her aside for left them. I couldn’t begin to explain the kind or visceral bite that news must’ve had. She could’ve had everything with them and in a way she must’ve built up her arcanum, at least at first, so they might accept her one day. I would’ve grown to hate everything too.
