Fic Idea:

Hobie watching as one of his close friends, who he's loved for years on end, walk down the aisle. He thinks back on all the time they've spent together and curses himself for being too much of a coward to confess his feelings.

(Bonus: Hobie envisions a what if scenario where he does confess his feelings but just as he envisions reader's reaction he hears them say "I Do" and snaps out of it.)

Dick's voice interrupted the daze Tim had settled into while he worked. "Can we talk about the cow in the room?"

Tim, poring through files on the computer, chin resting on a numb, aching hand. "It's acutally elephant in the room."

"No, Tim there's an actual cow in the room."

Tim frowned, the words slow to register before a crash made him turn around fast, just time to see the cow knock down the rest of the bo staffs. "What the fuck?"

"Right?" Dick held out his arms, waving. "Here, boy, come here."

The cow didn't respond at all, continuing to huff and rummage around the sticks on the ground.

"It's not a cat." Tim chided when Dick started hissing instead.

"Do you have any better ideas?" Dick demanded, throwing up his hands.

"How did it--" Tim winced as the cow made one of the mannequins crash down the stairs. "How did it even get here?"

The Cave had been invaded by Lanterns, Superman, but no cows.

The cow tugged its head away, lowing in annoyance when Dick tried reaching for it.

"I'm calling Clark." Dick declared, backing away.

"Good idea, watch out for--" Tim grimaced and Dick swore, trying to kick off the cow dung he'd stepped into. "You need to work on your spatial awareness, Nightwing."

"Hey Clark." Dick said into the phone, jokingly attempting to wipe off his boot on Tim's cape. "No, everything's fine, that shriek was Timmy. I'm calling about a cow."

They BOTH were horribly abused and isolated which led to the horror of the film, their incestuous relationship and murdering

Like the only reason Thomas even grew and changed was because he experienced a healthy love through Edith for the first time

She never got that and her obsession with him (which is super tied to her idea of safety and love and her FEAR) ultimately led to both of their deaths but this is a direct result the abuse she experienced

while the next set of books provides further definition to the minutiae of the raven mindset, it becomes more and more striking how compelling riko is as neil's foil, esp in how they wield their influence over people.

both have an inherited magnetism with that unmistakable aura of violence, and where neil suppresses his until he sees it necessary to defend himself or others, riko indulges in it wholeheartedly and with guaranteed impunity

both have a genuine obsession with exy team set-ups but where neil revels in his team's adaptability in the face of severely low numbers, riko forces rigidity onto each of his players, a rank, and punishes any deviation from the master's hierarchy

in line with that, both recognise kevin's greatness and where riko destroys it for fear of being eclipsed, neil's faith in kevin's ability is what keeps him static long enough to build a legacy of his own

riko and neil's contrast is a fascinating embodiment of one of my fave aftg themes: context is everything/nurture >>>> nature; every choice riko makes in the series is something neil is capable of too, even as he would violently oppose it, and knowing that he carries that capacity for cruelty is what makes him So Good

everything about ylfa's flashback scene made me feel fucking insane. the wolf is death and the ending of stories. the wolf ate ylfa's grandmother because it was time for her story to end. but for whatever reason it's not time for ylfa's end. for whatever reason the wolf wanted ylfa to live. the wolf ate the grandmother so that she could die, and ylfa ate the wolf so that she could live. the wolf wanted ylfa to live, and at the deepest core of herself she wants to live too. i'm scratching at the WALLS. LIKE "i met death and death wants me to live" EMILY SAID IT SO CASUALLY BUT LOWKEY THAT'S THE RAWEST SHIT I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE!
