Sure is interesting watching Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story as a gay anti-monarchy American because one moment I'm sympathizing with George's mental health struggles but also I'm pouring the tea in the harbor you get me?
#bridgerton#queen charlotte a bridgerton story#also the fact that I'm watching this right after chuck's coronation happened over the weekend#at one point george says maybe i should just surrender put my head in a basket and end the royal bloodline or something like that#and i'm like dude you know that would have been convenient actually#the dissonance between the compassion one has for the fact that they are real people with sympathetic struggles as well as the fact#that their real actions have real significant consequences and legacies today#like bringing that bitch victoria into the world through their children/grandchildren#it was a good watch but definitely lots of thoughts about it and a healthy dose of criticism

‘The Royal Heart’ Bridgerton Au!Anakin series Masterlist
pairing: Bridgerton Au!Anakin Skywalker x Fem!Reader
Summary: reader is the crown princess of Alderaan and it’s almost time for her to be crowned queen. only a problem presents itself, her people question her power because she doesn’t have a husband. when the royal court take it into there own hands to find a royal to marry she is forced to find a way to make it work
a/n: i try to describe very vaguely what reader looks like so anyone can place themselves in her shoes while reading 💋 all photos used are just for aesthetics and general reference. i am 100% not claiming this to be time accurate 😭 im definitely taking creative liberties. also for reference though, i picture this happening around the 1760’s so if anything this is more of a reverse Queen Charlotte bridgerton story au

Do you think if Harry and Meghan attack William’s kids when William is King, he won’t continue the royal protection that Harry and Meghan currently enjoy?
Charles is extremely shortsighted to have squashed the bullying report for his own gain. I have a background in history as well as workplace investigations - these things will come out in one form or another. In the case of the BRF, it might not be in the next 10 to 15 years, but it will eventually be incorporated in his legacy. Catherine seems to understand that with her insistence that the “recollections may vary” line be kept.
William probably isn’t going to continue the royal protection when he’s King anyway. He’s already made a few moves now that shows he plans to cut Harry off/out entirely.
Harry (and Meghan) will continue to shine as BRF-adjacent for a little bit under King William. Harry will be invited to the funeral events. He might get a walkabout, depending on how old the Waleses kids are, but it won’t be his own walkabout and it won’t certainly be with the new King and Queen. He’ll probably get a photo with William for the “sons’ guard” of the casket. But once the royal mourning ends, whatever shine is left on Harry will tarnish very quickly as all the attention and privilege will turn more and more towards George, Charlotte, and Louis. By the time of William’s coronation - to which the Royal rota has already heard leaks that Harry won’t be invited at all - Harry won’t have anything BRF-related left at all.
No protection (metaphorically and literally), no access, no allowances, no inheritances, no communications. He’ll be fully exiled like the Duke of Windsor was, left to play his bagpipes “left eye, one tear, go” on the back steps of Montecito mansion thinking about all that could have been.
But that’s only if he doesn’t get back into the fold before Charles passes away. Which is why I think he’s pushing really hard now for Charles to intervene on the security lawsuit and may be trying to bait him with this trip to Colombia as some gossip is alleging; if Harry gets security or comes back “in” under King Charles, then he has a better chance at keeping *some* of it when King William rises.
But I think the fatal flaw in that plan is that Harry has totally underestimated William. He thinks he can emotionally blackmail William with “but you’re my bro, I’m the only one who knows what you’re going through” (the same way he tried to emotionally blackmail The Queen with “favorite grandson” and Charles with “don’t you want to see your grandchildren”) but William has already grabbed that “card” and dropkicked it off the Norfolk cliffs into the North Sea where Meghan’s singing seals have already eaten it. It won’t work.
And it will be fun to see Harry’s desperation escalate as he realizes he is truly really definitely done and dusted, over and out. If he ever were to turn on the Waleses kids, it would be then and it would 100% be the last straw for William. If he somehow hadn’t already blown his top at Harry and Meghan before then. Which, honestly, I expect that to have already happened. With Spare, frankly.
Anyway. I think I lost the plot here somewhere. I got a call in the middle of writing this and I lost my train of thought.

Live broadcast of ‘Le Sacre de Napoléon V’ on the national channel Francesim 2, hosted by Stéphane Bernard
(Another journalist) We see the imperial couple's carriage leaving the Palais des Tuileries, the ceremony is starting! (Stéphane Bernard) Yes, my dear, here we are. This is a historic day for all of Francesim!
(Stéphane Bernard) Look at these images of the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral, where the heads of state are taking their places. They are the first to enter, as per His Imperial Majesty's wish. Of course, this is excluding the journalists and cameras. We live in the era of communication. (Another journalist) It's also the first time under the French Empire that the coronation is taking place in the presence of foreign leaders. (Stéphane Bernard) Yes, if you like, it's a completely different atmosphere compared to the coronation of Napoleon IV in 2001, or year 209.
(Stéphane Bernard) His approach was more traditional. It was necessary to win back the French people. Thus, all the guests – around ten thousand – were French. It was also necessary to "introduce" oneself, which is why the emperor focused all the images on his person, the new aristocracy, and the imperial splendor.
(Stéphane Bernard) Today, in 2022, 21 years later, Emperor Napoleon V enjoys a popularity that nearly reaches 80%! You understand, the issues are completely different now. Napoleon V's coronation is a soft power operation. It's subtler than with Napoleon IV: by using symbols of the monarchy like the orb representing universalism, the splendor, and traditions, he strengthens the image and cultural influence of Francesim worldwide. This grand event showcases the stability and grandeur of the nation while cultivating a sense of national pride.
(Another journalist) Is it also a way for a young emperor like Napoleon V to assert his legitimacy in front of other crowned heads? (Stéphane Bernard) No, I don't think so. Allow me to say that this would be a very mistaken interpretation of the ceremony. The Emperor of the French derives his legitimacy solely from the French people. The other heads of state, or God, have absolutely no role to play in this process. It is a solemn moment where the sacred bond between the sovereign and his people is celebrated and renewed, without external interference. That is why the heads of state and ambassadors are not filmed during or after the ceremony.
(Other journalist) Wait, Stéphane, let me stop you right there. Le sacre is a religious ceremony. What do you mean? (Stéphane Bernard) I will delve into this more during the ceremony, but it is crucial to distinguish the different moments of the coronation. Religion, while important, constitutes only a part of it: the anointing. Note that there are few sacral monarchies in Europesim today. The Empire of Pierreland is one of the rare countries that have preserved this grand religious tradition. In Francesim, Emperor Napoleon IV chose to reinstate the coronation for reasons other than legitimacy. Emperor Napoleon III, for example, was never crowned! (Another journalist) The imperial procession is now on the Champs-Elysées. Oh, look, Stéphane, the first images of Their Majesties!
(Stéphane Bernard) Admire Their Majesties in their Petit Habit de Sacre, an outfit elegantly inspired by the coronation of Napoleon I. This traditional French attire, reserved for the most solemn occasions, is today enhanced by a touch of originality unique to Napoleon V: he proudly wears the famous bicorne of his illustrious ancestor, Napoleon I. (Another journalist) I must say, it's quite something to see a Simparte wearing that famous hat! (Stéphane Bernard) For the most fervent Simpartists, it is truly a relic.
(Stéphane Bernard) Empress Charlotte, on the other hand, is adorned with the prestigious ruby set of Marie-Louise of Austria, created by the renowned court jeweler, François Regnault Nitot. She is also wearing the famous diamond necklace of Queen Marie-Antoinette. A curious choice, considering the tumultuous history associated with this piece, but it remains spectacular nonetheless. If my memory serves me right, this necklace is composed of 650 diamonds. (Another journalist) Yes, about 2800 carats in total. Their Majesties appear to be in exceptional form. Our colleagues at the Palais des Tuileries this morning reported that the emperor was particularly cheerful.
(Stéphane Bernard) Yes, a lot of emotions will affect him today. Right now, before our eyes, he is still a secular figure like all of us. But when he takes his oath to the French People shortly, he will no longer be the same man. Numerous rites will transform this private individual into a mystical figure: the Emperor. This is what we will witness today, the transformation of our dear sovereign.
(Stéphane Bernard) The imperial procession is now in front of the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile, this emblematic monument of Napoleonic heritage. Built under the orders of Napoleon I, magnified by Napoleon III and Baron Haussmann, this grand edifice embodies the glory and victories of the Empire. Let us not forget the famous promise of the Emperor to his soldiers: "You will only return to your homes under triumphal arches". (Other journalist) Indeed, this is a very symbolic step in the procession.
(Stéphane Bernard) Absolutely. The imperial procession recently passed the Palais Royal, which was once the seat of the Tribunat during the Empire. Today, this iconic place houses the Ministry of Culture as well as the Constitutional Council. Now, the procession is about to cross the Pont-Neuf to reach the cathedral through the grand west entrance. On this sacred day, the imperial couple is the only one granted the honor of entering through this majestic gate. The guests, on the other hand, enter the cathedral through the north facade.

CHAPTER ONE - CHAPTER TWO - CHAPTER THREE
𝖌𝖊𝖓𝖗𝖊: smut.
𝖕𝖆𝖎𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖌: Griffith X You (fem! Reader)
𝖘𝖞𝖓𝖔𝖕𝖘𝖎𝖘:
Having been spoiled by your father as an only child after your mother’s death, there existed you, a young, yet rebellious maiden known amongst Midland as Princess Scarlet. Being the subject of envy by commoners who wanted nothing more than to overthrow the kingdom, you were rather…..indifferent. As a princess, you exercised pride in your achievements, deeming you fit for the role of succeeding your father on the throne.
Even after your father’s death caused by poisoning, your dream to have your own kingdom never faltered in the slightest. In fact, ruling over Midland with an iron fist has been made easy and simple considering your royal blood.
Subsequently, your ambitious demeanor and philosophy attracted none other than the military genius who led a group of mercenaries known as the Band of The Hawk. Sir Griffith; a man who never fell short of what were to be defined as a noble, if it were not for his common blood.
To put it simply, Griffith never planned on building his empire overnight. Instead, he harbored ulterior motives where he would rather…..bend you, the Queen, to his liking before taking over Midland.
….And the consequences of YOU having a fragile ego never ceased to reveal itself.
𝖈𝖜: none as of now.
𝕬𝖚𝖙𝖍𝖔𝖗’𝖘 𝕹𝖔𝖙𝖊:
No smut for the first chapter!
To minors: this space isn’t for you. Berserk is a warning in itself. Go away. Do not interact.
Anyways, I’m back with a new fic and it’s basically my own version while still keeping the canon verse of Berserk clear.
In this verse, expect certain things:
— Princess Charlotte does NOT exist.
— YOU are the Princess/Queen of Midland.
— The story will mainly focus on Griffith, not Guts.
Before commenting, I would like to caution you for potential rape/non-con elements (it’s Griffith we’re talking about here) to be depicted in later chapters of the story.
What I write is pure fantasy, and is mostly just me projecting on my original character (in this case, Queen Scarlet) who has a rather peculiar relationship with Griffith.
Anyways, grab some popcorn, and chill a little while we watch our original character slowly get taken advantage of by the devil himself.
The Kingdom of Midland. Such is a name given to the central region of the Physical World where nobles dominate and savages eliminate. One had the luxury of resting within the comfort of their own home while dining with only the finest cuisine made known to man. The other had to hustle and kill for the sake of money and survival…....while for potential evildoers and traitors, the sake of achieving their dream.
It was your coronation day after all, one of the most awaited events in all of Midland’s history. Following your father’s death caused by an incident of poisoning, the nobles immediately turn to you as a successor to the throne. You were a bit nervous, so to speak, but ready to accept your new role and give your speech as the newly appointed ruler of Midland.
It was already sunset, the halls decorated with red roses, bushes, and your favorite type of flower, the Amaryllis. You just loved the sight of red the way you liked your tea. Red, so to speak, was your favorite color. It just looks and feels powerful, like the way sunlight pierces its way through your eyes. You liked shoving your presence down people’s throats, to make them remember your name as you rejoiced in your own superiority as the new Queen.
Red was the visual embodiment of your dream—to rule and render yourself capable of building your own empire. Because of that, the King, your very own father, feared for your safety. And boy, was that prediction true.
Not only was your safety compromised, but prior to meeting the White Hawk who was addressed as Sir Griffith, things went downhill after that encounter as a sudden number of royal guards dropped dead. Not only were you disgusted by the smell of blood that filled the hallways the week before your coronation, but the five words whispered to your ear was what sent chills across your spine. Those five words made you shiver in questionable fear despite you taking it as just an empty threat.
“You belong to me, Princess.”
And then came the surge of mysterious events such as your father’s death.
Supposedly, you were expected to be excited for such an event like the coronation ceremony as you longed all your life to become Queen, but something about the whole situation didn’t feel right. You were at a loss for words, being unable to understand why your father was poisoned in an instant and how planning the ceremony felt rushed.
You shivered at the thought of meeting the Band of the Hawk once more, immediately suspecting that one of them killed your father.
“Our beloved guests, our crowning guests, respected parents of the nobles, and that of the civilians. Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon.” announced the event speaker of the ceremony. “Once again, we have gathered here to witness the coronation ceremony of the Royal Family to be headed by Queen Scarlet and the rest of the officials appointed to serve her Majesty. Kindly rise for the ceremony proper.”
A huge audience of youngsters stood to give thanks towards your family for a job well done in leadership, singing songs of praise as time passed by. You were, of course, getting quite the goosebumps knowing your time is up as a princess. However, you can’t help but falter, thinking of your father’s untimely demise just about two weeks ago.
You were lost in thought, unable to pay attention to the songs sung in honor of you. Something was very wrong. You sweat and panted hard, not because you didn’t know what to say or do given the situation, but because you didn’t want to actually meet up with Griffith and the rest of his comrades due to some suspicions about the leader’s motives.
“Before we start, may I request everyone to observe silence as the ceremony begins to maintain its solemnity. Reserve your ‘hoorays’ for the latter part of the coronation. Thank you very much for your full cooperation.”
The rest of the coronation ceremony followed. You were nervous, biting your nails as you slowly prepared your speech in front of thousands. You knew Griffith would be watching
Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Tick-tock.
Alas, it was your turn to give out a speech that serves as a public declaration of your aims, intentions, and actions to be taken to further improve the economic and sociocultural growth of Midland.
Standing up, you could feel the eyes of crowds searching you from head to toe, but none of them ever gave you the impression that someone was truly watching you.
At the exterior of the venue, there sneaked a young man with white, flowing hair and a pair of blue eyes. It was him. Griffith. He didn’t make his own presence clear before you, he covered his tracks very well. But, little did he know, you could peek at his silhouette from afar. Knowing he made his way past the guards with extreme caution showed his prowess in strategy and disarming opponents with great ease.
Yes, he just wanted to hear your speech. After all, knowing how someone would open up about a fraction of their lives would be crucial in undergoing one’s plan to achieving their dreams, yes?
This was your moment. You let out a deep breath and spoke clearly as you cleared your throat.
“Greetings, my beloved fellowmen. It’s been a pleasure having to meet with you all to this very moment.” you greeted the audience with a friendly, approachable tone. “Throughout this memorable day, I was able to discern all your prayers dedicated to me and my family, especially in honor of my father’s passing. As an inherent successor to the throne, I have maintained a significant awareness through the years that my people, spread far and wide throughout every continent and ocean in the world, were united to support me in the task to which I have now been dedicated with such solemnity.”
The muffled voice of your speech was rendered audible to Griffith from the outskirts of the palace. He was perhaps….fascinated by your rather….pushy attitude on things. It didn’t take long before he palmed the area between his hips, hiding such an unsightly appearance as he began to fantasize about you under his control. He wanted nothing more than to dissect you in every detail possible, to know your deepest fears and motives of having to rule such a flawed kingdom. But little did you know, was that he wanted this kingdom all to himself.
“The ceremonies you have seen today are ancient, but some of their origins are hidden in the mists of the past. Their spirit and meaning still rise from the flames of finiteness. Perhaps, they still shine more brightly than we’ve expected them to do so. I have pledged allegiance with all my heart that I shall lead this kingdom, uplifting it further to claiming a thousand more victories than you would ever anticipate. Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust.”
Griffith’s eyes narrowed as he hid behind the doors alongside the two guards who were apparently slain before they could even fight back.
He wanted you.
And there was nothing more satisfying than breaking one of the strongest, most powerful women who once took an interest in the art of swordsmanship. But he would rather not challenge you to a duel; not because he underestimated your capabilities, but because he saw such barbaric acts to be unbefitting of a lady with high status.
An hour later, trumpets played as the Grim Reapers of the Battlefield were to be promoted as bodyguards, yes, bodyguards, of your kingdom. The King trusted you to this group of mercenaries who promised nothing short of protecting your integrity and wellbeing as the princess. But one thing’s for sure, it’s that their leader was bound to be missing.
You stepped down from the stage to observe your audience for any problems which may arise from the White Hawk’s absence.
“Wait, where’s Griffith? But he was just here about minutes ago!” Rickert exclaimed. “He can’t just be wandering out in the open like this! Griffith! Hang in there! We’re on our way!”
“Cut the crap.” Guts said, alerting his fellow comrades. “There must be a way to proceed with the ceremony without Griffith being of any concern.”
“But Guts-”
Recognizing and appreciating your bodyguards (or perhaps, some new friends) wasn’t all that bad. Perhaps you were intimidated by some of the mercenaries, but they played an integral part of your big day.
It was only one moment within that band that spooked you, it was the White Hawk revealing himself—it was Griffith. By that moment when Griffith claimed you to be his, you began to not take those words lightly and managed to develop a slight sense of fear. What did he exactly mean by that?
You brushed off your thoughts on the matter and shook hands with nearly all the members, with Griffith being an exception (obviously). Rumor has it that he’s still hiding where the sun doesn’t shine, covering his tracks in order to reveal himself before you in the very end.
And God forbid what kind of plans he had for you that night.

Philippa of England, Queen of Norway, Denmark and Sweden
Philippa of England was the youngest daughter and last child of Henry of Lancaster and Mary de Bohun, Earl and Countess of Derby, and was born on, or shortly before, 1 July 1394, when her mother died from complications in childbirth. Little is known of Philippa’s early childhood but when her father usurped the throne in 1399, becoming Henry IV, her future changed dramatically. No longer the youngest daughter of an earl, she was now a princess.
The new king almost immediately began searching for marriage alliances for his two daughters. 1401 saw Henry enter into marriage negotiations with Margrete of Denmark for Philippa to marry Margrete’s adoptive son and heir, Erik of Pomerania. Like Henry, Margrete was hoping for an alliance to strengthen her domestic position and that of the fledgling Kalmar Union of Norway, Denmark and Sweden. It wasn’t until 1405 that the marriage was formally agreed upon and in December, Philippa was proclaimed Queen of Norway, Denmark and Sweden. In August 1406, the 12-year-old Philippa sailed from England in August 1406. She married Erik at the cathedral of Lund, and her coronation soon followed. Famously, Philippa is the first documented European princess to wear white at her wedding.
She spent the next three years at Kalmar Castle in Sweden, the first year under the guidance of Katarina Knutsdotter (the granddaughter of Saint Birgitta of Sweden), and probably owing in no small part to her youth, Philippa remained in the sidelines of rule until Margrete’s death in 1412. She retained close ties to Sweden, serving as Erik’s de facto regent there, and was the only queen of the Kalmar Union to ever achieve popularity in Sweden. Of particular note is her patronage of Vadstenna Abbey, the motherhouse of the Bridgettine Order. She often stayed there when in Sweden, was a generous patron, and petitioned the pope multiple times on the Order's behalf, even enlisting the support of her brother, Henry V of England. In 1425, Philippa donated a choir dedicated to St. Anne, where she was later buried. This may have had particular significance for Philippa, as she had no surviving children..
Philippa was deeply involved in the rule of all three kingdoms of the Kalmar Union. In 1420, demonstrating Erik’s trust in her, it was decided that she would serve as regent to his heir, Bogislaw of Pomerania, should the marriage remain childless, and her widow’s pension would effectively give her a ‘queendom’ in Sweden. In 1423, Erik went on pilgrimage and Philippa served as his regent, with all power that entailed, until his return in 1425. She also obtained the resources and support Erik needed for his war against the Hanseatic League. Indeed, it was Philippa who organised the defence of Copenhagen against the bombardment of the Hanseatic League in 1428 to great acclaim.
In late 1429, Philippa, apparently in good health, travelled to Sweden to secure further support for the war against the Hanseatic League. She was staying in Vadstena Abbey when she fell seriously ill and died on the night of 5 and 6 January 1430, possibly following a stillbirth. Philippa was remembered almost universally favourably, a reputation that was surely deserved.

Princess Protection Program AU
I feel like my formatting changes every time I do this. Anyway, this is what happens when my brain is allowed to run amok.
(Bit of role swap here)
Lucifer Mephistopheles Baphomet Morningstar, prince of a small island nation called Gehenna, is set to become King in just a month. During his coronation practice, the palace is attacked by General Seviathan Von Eldritch, who intends to seize control over the country.
He's whisked away to safety by Major Hartfelt, mother of Alastor Hartfelt, situated in rural Louisiana. She is the only one Lucifer trusts at the moment, and thus is zoned to move in with her to hide under his false identity.
His mother, Queen Charlotte Morningstar, is left behind to reassure the country that he will one day return. The only way to keep her safe? Becoming Lucas Nocturna until General Von Eldritch can be removed from Gehenna.
(Haha, because his first name 'Lucifer' means 'light bringer,' and his fake last name 'Nocturna' means 'of the night' because he's in hiding, or, as some would say, 'in the dark.' Hahaha so clever.)
Alastor is... upset surprised to find one of his mom's rescues sitting in his room. Oh, it turns out he's sharing Alastor's room until this political coup gets sorted out. Great. Lovely.
I have more of this but I'll write that out when I have time.

Queen Charlotte : A Bridgerton Story Review
SPOILERS !!!! watch out bae <333
honestly, ngl I watched this show only because of the chemistry in the teaser. like the wall scene encouraged me to watch it. Bridgerton is always a little hit and miss for me in a I could not finish season 1 for the life of me but watched the next one like 8 times.
It felt a little too fast paced and people began pissing me off from episode 1 but I reminded myself it was a historical show. Although her brother just signing her away and then saying 'shut up, it's already done' made me so mad ??? like let her react ??? even further down the episodes even when he's concerned, he's like oops sorry, already done now like bitch ??? 😭😭😭 so just #uselesss and annoying !!! I am sorry his little burst @ her got me because she didn't even have time to react !!!
The wall scene comes and I'm practically ready to jump but then to me it felt like the show was going 80 kms/min I was like woah woah woah, why is he saying all the right things... this is just moving too fast. (i want to gloat about being right about being suspicious but the way all i knew i was it felt shady, still had no idea what was coming fr 😭)
they were so cute and tender :'(((( ! like this is what the show kept doing to me till we got George POV. I kept on thinking we were just skipping conversations or moving too fast or just going at it because chemistry !!! but one thing about me, i'll see a romance show through and i'm kinda glad.
the show moves too quickly in the first 3 episodes for me, especially if you're binging it like me. a part of me is glad like yes babe! keep kissing each other (their chemistry is insane!) but the other part is like ??? you're not even going to talk about things. like initially i was even mad that he got to decide when they saw each other and got to be with her with a small ass apology. (the pov episode does so much for us as an audience but my girl was #robbed of many explanations)
they look great together!!! like even when she heard his outburst from the door and thought that he married her and is miserable. you could see both of them really liked each other which is why you keep waiting for an explanation, although i was wondering since they dropped each other's hands QUICKLY post coronation did the king not find it weird that she suddenly is angry ??? maybe i'll catch things on a rewatch. like he's ready and has moved in with her !!! but is not curious that she's visibly angry ???
i also will use this post to say everytime someone is not there in the morning after scenes with their partner, a part of me dies !!! unless they have gone to bring you food, you better be cuddling mate !
i for some reason called Brimsley and Renoylds little romance, i just felt vibes and yet I yelped happily when they started making out while wondering what is wrong with the king lmaooo. #real and also the actual power couple of the show! their interactions made the show worthwhile and i love how both of them were ready to risk all sorts of conduct because of how much they cared for these bozos. trust me their hands slowly touching each other had me waiting breathless because for a second i thought they were about to break up 😭 i wanted to see them grow old together
back to the king and queen shenanigans, honestly i thought that the king had just grown forgetful or just had old people problems in the og show so i was actually surprised when he ran out of the house looking for Venus.
episode 4 is we get George's pov and honestly for a bit my stubborn ass was still not ready to hear explanations till I saw him crumble into his mom's arms and it broke my heart. :( (i do not know what the illness is so i am not going to assume or probably read other posts and learn but it feels like anxiety is always a trigger for it and i felt like leaping in like a protective mother everytime someone put him in that situation)
the actor is so good with tender eyes, like the way he looked at her made me wipe out all of the memories of the earlier 3 episodes and go awwww you love her. that doctor was shady from the jump and just kept on getting worse, like the way i wanted to actually k!ll him. like he actually seemed to be enjoying the torture he was doling out on this poor man... with the obsessive need to tame him like WHEN I CATCH YOU ! (nasty ass loser, like when he spoke about taming the wolf i just knew he was not okay...) practically used the shaving routine as a way to threaten the king! loserrrr
i love that her calling that small dog a deformed bunny is what makes the king laugh (which is a relief to see post doc torture) and is what brings him out of this, and he's like fuck this shit! i'm seeing my wife. both the actors are so gorgeous...
also i am a sucker !!! for POVS and this one came with explanations so i was even a bigger sucker
Renoylds just placing a hand on the king's shoulder did more than what the dumbass doc's aggressive slaps or methods could do...
one night with the queen, one dance with the queen and the king was like i'm all healed up he's just like me !!! he was so in love lmao
then he has the episode and the queen handles it well, but he wakes up alone
the queen was fully right for asking questions but once again like the first heard the conversation through the doors, instead of even slight miscommunication, we get no communication. btw, she's pregnant too (which starts the venus panic in the first place) , blessings ! she actually begins to show a full bump and btw this is where i think the timeline fully goes helter skelter for me because did he just leave her for months and worse did he get TORTURED FOR MONTHS???
my girl is about to leave and a lot happens and i'm running out of word limit so i'll save that for another post but a chat with lady danbury #mygirl pushes the queen into the king's place and she rescues him. I NEEDED THAT BAD like you do not understand for a second i was convinced that the doctor would break him and the queen and the king would never even be able to say i love you, like i thought he'd somehow freeze in that moment right there (it is stupid but like i was actually afraid)
she saves him, they tell each other they love her and like i'm ready to go to war for them atp, they are so tender in the way they hug and you can see relief in his eyes, in her eyes and you let go of a breath you didn't know you were holding.
i love how she lets him heal but more in how she takes care of him when she can feel panic rise and his hands shake and how he calms listening to his voice ( take that nasty violent ass doctor)
the way they lied under the bed and he was afraid he would never be fully there for her and understood if she wanted to leave and she said fuch that! i love you and you're just george, just george to me <3
anyway, i feel a wave of sleep coming because i intelligently watched this at 2 am and it is 6 now but the last two episodes were me just awwing at the screen watching him trust her and himself and be happy with her. i'm so happy he got to share that with her
the children, lady danbury and violet thing I'll get onto later
the scene where the king's mom tells the queen that he's happy because of her is so sweet because it is reminiscent of the dance scene where she also realised he was happy happy.
i love how he swoops his arms around her !!! he's happy and safe <333
also this is where the timeline shakes me up because my girl is already pregnant??? AGAIN??? i feel like he helped her deliver their first baby in the same episode LMAOOOO
anyway text limit warning but yeah i liked it
#queen charlotte#queen charlotte: a bridgerton story#bridgerton#i wanted to say stick it out for the couple and brimsley and renoylds#cuties#the chemistry is insane like it will keep you sitting till the first 3 episodes#bridgerton won#just george#they are so tender#lady danbury deserves the world kinda#i do think the writing except for the king and queen was very helter skelter#my eyes are so heavy i'll get back to this later#sorry if this is all over the place lmao i don't know how i even managed to hit the text limit

series masterlist • main masterlist
While Minho had been spending his time giving tours to Lady Astrid and pining over a man he can’t have, the council had been hard at work preparing his coronation and the wedding that would soon follow. At this point, the preparations were coming to an end and the throne room was extravagantly decorated with silks and furs and gold.
Queen mother Charlotte had been helping Minho with what to expect of his coronation.
“Well first everyone will fill the throne room and wait for you. And then once everyone has arrived and settled in, your Hand will announce your entry.” Charlotte said.
“Right, my Hand. I haven’t had much chance to talk to him yet.”
His 'Hand', being short for the ‘Hand of the King’, essentially just meaning the king’s right hand man. The Hand helped the king with everything he needed help with in regards to the crown and his kingly duties. Advice on money, and war, and political relationships, etc.
“Your Hand was your fathers Hand as well.” Charlotte said. “Erin has been Hand of the King for decades now. He’s a very loyal man.”
Minho nodded. "And then the crown and cloak will be brought in?"
"Right." Charlotte agreed. "The crown and cloak will be brought in and then you will say your vows as king. And then everyone cheers and we basically have a big party after that."
"Right.." Minho agreed, his thoughts elsewhere. How could he go through with this, knowing he would have to marry there after. How could he ever look at Astrid as anything other than the thing standing in the way of his true love. But that isn’t fair to her. She’s not the only thing in the way. And it’s not even her fault. She is just as arranged in this marriage as he is. Just as much of a victim. It truly astonishes him how he can be king, the most powerful person in all the land, and still not be able to be with the one he truly loves. Sure, he can make that decision. He could stand up in front of the whole room and declare that he was in love with his squire, and that they would be wed and rule the kingdom together. But the people would never allow it. The people would storm the gates, overthrow their rulers. Or, Minho thought, more likely he would just be killed on the spot by someone else in the room and the actual people of the kingdom would never hear of his declaration. And what of the monarchy? If he and Han were to succeed in their plight to be together, there would be no little heirs running around the castle. Not out of lack of want, just physically not possible. Minho thought it might be quite nice to go with Han down to one of the many orphanages in the capital and pick out a little baby to raise themselves. To save a little one from a life of poverty and strife. But he knew this was all a fantasy. But that made his mind wander to actually making little heirs.. with Astrid. Not that the lady wasn’t beautiful, she truly was. And she smelled like flowers. But Minho was in no way attracted to her. How would he even make it.. work?
His mother interrupted his thoughts.
"I so love Lady Astrid's dress today, dont you?" his mother asked, looking at her future daughter in law who was slowly walking around the room admiring the decorations.
Minho groaned internally. "Yes mother."
--
The counsel room seemed small and dark at this time of night. All the counsel members had been awoken rather abruptly and told to meet immediately. But now that they were all here, they exchanged looks of confusion. Why had they been summoned? And where was the king? He was supposed to sit in on these meetings. Especially if it was of great importance.
Rian entered the room. "Thank you, gentlemen, for assembling so quickly." he said. "I apologize for waking you in the middle of the night, but this matter is rather urgent."
"Shouldn’t we wait for your brother, Your Grace?" one of the counsel members asked, a man that was very old and withered.
"My brother will not be joining us, as this matter pertains to him." Rian stated.
The group of men looked worried.
"What is this about?" a rather large man had asked. This was Erin, the kings Hand.
Rian took a seat at the head of the table, his regular smug look adoring his features. "As you all know, my brother’s coronation is tomorrow." the men nodded, waiting with bated breath for the urgency to reveal itself. "And you all know my brother’s.. history with squires."
"Get to the point." Erin barked. But then added, "Your Grace." when Rian gave him a sharp look.
"Well I’m afraid that history is repeating itself." Rian sighed.
The table erupted in murmurs and questions. "What do you mean, Your Grace?"
"My brother cannot hide his perversion and I have witnessed it with my own eyes. Apparently he did not learn his lesson from before." Rian basically spat the words, a deep hatred emanating from his chest. "I worry for the state of the kingdom if a king with such desires takes the throne."
Erin scoffed in the corner of the room, taking in the conversation but not adding to it.
"Please, Your Grace, explain what you saw." one of the members asked.
"Well you see, when we were on our way to Westwood, we stopped at multiple little towns along the way." The counsel nodded, listening. "One night, I thought I heard something. So I peeked out of my room only to see my brother and his squire sneaking out of the inn. It was early morning hours, just before the sun came up."
"Well this is no proof." one man said, and the others agreed, not so quick to mutiny against their king.
"You did not let me finish, ser." Rian replied. "I followed them to the banks of a small creek where they sat on the grass, holding hands and looking up at the stars."
The counsel gasped. "You’re sure?" one of them asked.
"Positive. I would never bring this to you unless I was absolutely certain. I do not wish to have my brothers name drug through the mud, but we must do what we need to to preserve the sanctity of this kingdom." Though Rian didn’t care at all about his brothers reputation, nor the sanctity of the kingdom. He just wanted the throne for himself, the notoriety, to be the best at something. For everyone to like him better than his brother for once.
Erin finally spoke up. "And what do you suggest we do, Your Grace?" he asked, voice dripping with disdain. Erin never particularly liked Rian. He had always sensed there was something not right about him, Something evil almost. He had no empathy.
Rian pretended to think on it for a moment before presenting his idea. " Well i guess beheading this squire will not work, as it didnt work with the first one." He tapped his chin with his index finger, as if he were in deep thought. Though he knew he already had his plan well thought out. "Perhaps we summon him, his squire, and Lady Astrid to the counsel chamber and force him to choose."
"Have him choose, Your Grace?" the members sounded dumbfounded. "There is only one choice. The other is an abomination."
"I agree." Rian said. "We give him the choice to either: choose Lasy Astrid and remain king, or choose his squire and be banished."
"But, your grace, what if he chooses the banishment? What will happen to the kingdom? How will we explain it to the people? They must not know the truth of the matter."
Rian nodded, having thought about this as well. This was his favorite part of the plan. He smiled. "I will be king, of course."
--
Han was laying on his hard cot in his basement room of the castle. He could hear Hyunjin’s pencil scraping along the parchment as he drew another portrait of his beloved. Hyunjin abruptly sat up.
"OH MY GOD." he said. "I forgot to tell you what I heard today!" he exclaimed.
Han lazily rolled over, not having much energy for anything these days.
"So I was talking to Meredith, right? one of the maids that clean Rian's chambers." Hyunjin explained, leaning in close to share his gossip. "and she said that while she was cleaning, she found a womans brassiere."
"What’s a brassiere?" Han asked, confused.
"I’m not really sure." Hyunjin answered. "Meredith tried to explain it to me, but all I got was it’s something girls wear under all their clothes."
"So what?" Han asked. Rian was known to be a ladies man. Who knows how many women he’s had in his chambers.
"So.." Hyunjin dragged out. "This brassiere was embroidered with flowers." Hyunjin raised his eyebrows, waiting for Han to connect the dots.
Han’s eyes grew wide. "Are you saying it was Lady Astrid's?"
Hyunjin smiled. "all I’m saying, is it was embroidered with flowers and the letter A. And I guess it was a very expensive piece. Like not all of the girls wear these. Only the high status girls. So..."
Han thought about it for a moment. It had to be Lady Astrid's.. right? There’s no on else it could be. Does Minho know? should Han tell him?
Hyunjin cleared his throat. "Get out of your head. This doesn’t mean anything. People have affairs all the time, especially the royals."
"Does the king know?" Han asked.
"Probably not.. but you shouldn’t tell him!"
Han nodded. "Yeah. I shouldn’t tell him." he agreed quietly.
There was a knock on the door then, and Han jumped. He had the sudden fear that someone overheard them.
"Squire Han, you have been summoned to the counsels chamber." a voice said from the other side of the door. Han stood nervously, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, before opening the door. Standing there was Rian's squire. "Follow me please."
Han spared a glance at a very worried looking Hyunjin, before grabbing his shoes and following the squire down the dark hall.
--
"What is the meaning of this?" Minho asked, barely containing his rage upon seeing Han being led into the room. Minho didn’t like this at all. Every hair on the back of his neck was standing up, every feeling in his gut screaming at him. This was not good. He stood at the front of the room, facing the small counsel, his future wife, his brother, and now.. Han looked at him with concern in his eyes. With fear. Everything inside Minho was screaming at him to protect Han, protect Han, protect Han.
"Brother-" Rian started.
"King." Minho interrupted, on edge and not willing to be nice.
"We'll see." Rian said under his breath. "Your Grace, we have summoned you so that you may settle something for us."
The room was too silent. Everyone holding their breath, waiting. "Settle what?"
"Your Grace," the old man said. "Prince Rian has told us that he saw you in a very.. compromising position."
Minho looked from the old man to his brother and back. His stomach was churning. Had Rian somehow found out that Minho had kissed Han? Was this about to be like last time? He could not, would not, see Han beheaded. He would go down kicking and fighting with everything he had. They would have to behead Minho first.
"Yes, brother, I saw you with your squire on the banks of a small creek in the middle of the night." Rian said, smug.
Han clenched his fists so hard his nails were biting into his palms. What had Rian seen? Nothing happened. Had he heard their conversation? Had Rian heard what Han had said about him being crass? Han thought he might be sick.
"Is it illegal to be out at night with my squire?" Minho asked, crossing his arms and looking frustrated.
"No, but it is illegal to have a romantic relationship with your squire." Rian snapped. The room somehow got quieter. Like everyone’s hearts stopped beating as well. "I thought you would have learned your lesson last time."
Last time? Han thought. Did they mean his previous squire that was beheaded? Is that what happened? Had Minho been caught with his squire and as a result the squire lost his life? His head?
Minho made eye contact with Han who looked so incredibly afraid in this moment. He was shaking. It broke Minho’s heart. He wanted to hold him close and tell him that everything would be alright. That he wouldn’t let anyone hurt him.
"A romantic relationship? It was just a night walk because I couldn’t sleep." Minho explained.
"Then why were you holding hands?" Rian was quick to ask.
Minho froze. They didn’t hold hands, though he had tried. He supposed that someone who was spying on them probably would think that they were. Should he deny it? With his history he doubted anyone would believe him.
"The counsel has decided to give you a choice." the old man said.
"What kind of choice?''
"You get to choose, be with Lady Astrid and be crowned king tomorrow, or choose to be with your squire and be banished. Hopefully you make it out of the city gates alive." Rian was smirking, having caught his brother in a tough spot. Rian was sure the throne was his. He had the smoking gun. What he always wanted was so close to his reach. He knew his brother was too soft to look his love in the face and turn him down.
Minho thought about it. This is what they had talked about, running away together. They could do it now. But then he was reminded of Han’s words on the river bank that night. "I mean no disrespect toward prince Rian, but he can be a little harsh. But you, Your Grace.. you are kind. You are what the people need."
Han was right. As much as Minho desperately wanted to leave all of this behind and run away, his people needed him. He couldn’t leave them in the hands of someone as evil as Rian. He knew what he had to do. And it broke his heart even more to know that he had to say it here, out loud, with his full chest in front of Han.
Han, im sorry. Please forgive me. I love you. He tried to silently send that message to his squire, before he clenched his jaw, looked at Rian and said..
"I choose Lady Astrid."

What are your favorite looks from royal weddings, christenings, jubilees, coronations/enthronements, funerals?
For weddings, see this post:
For christenings - I've always generally liked what the moms wear but there just aren't a whole lot of good pictures because they're the ones holding the baby! What I love the most to see at the royal christenings is always how happy, proud, and glowing most of the moms are. I always got an odd vibe from Meghan in Archie's christening pictures - she isn't glowing and happy in those photos as the moms in other christening photos are. In fact, to me, Meghan seemed happier, more glowy, and prouder in the pictures from the Windsor hall when they presented Archie to CBS cameras.
But these two are my favorite looks from royal christenings.
I also really liked Madeleine's look from her first child's christening but couldn't find a good picture of her outfit so I didn't include it. I loved that she wore a floral headpiece and with a floral dress, made her whole look very summery.
For jubilees - I'm just going to do the BRF's 2022 Platinum Jubilee because I don't want go to down a rabbit hole right now.
Here are the ladies:
Kate in Wales (one of my all-time favorite Kate coats)
Beatrice at the Royal Windsor Horse Show Charity Night (one of my all-time favorite Yorkie looks - this is such a slay)
Zara at the Epsom Races (in Mike's hat)
Kate at the Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving
Sophie Winkleman and Lady Gabriella at the service of thanksgiving.
A couple of notes about the service of thanksgiving - Beatrice and Sophie W. actually wore the same dress in different colors; Beatrice in blue, Sophie in pink. I prefer Sophie's dress and her hat style. Beatrice's dress just looked off, like the fit was just slightly too big.
I didn't mind Eugenie's dress at the service of thanksgiving but the tangerine color with a black hat was all wrong. A more muted orange, like Gabriella's peach, or a darker-hued orange on scale with Sophie’s pink/fuchsia would've worked much better.
And now for the gents:
Mike after the service of Thanksgiving in Zara's hat. Just fab. No words.
August at the jubilee pageant. Who doesn't love a little boy in a heritage sweater? Such a cutie-pie.
For coronations/enthronements
From Charles and Camilla's coronation in 2023:
Queen Matilda, Coronation
Beatrice, Coronation
Penny Mordaunt, Coronation
Empress Crown Princess of Japan, Coronation
Queen Letizia, Pre-Coronation Reception
Queen Jetsun, Pre-Coronation Reception
Lady Louise, Coronation (an all-time favorite look)
Everyone in the procession at the coronation, (except for the Camillas)
Kate, Coronation Garden Party
Kate, Coronation Concert
Princess Anne, Coronation
Major Johnny, Coronation
Yeomen, Garden Party. These guys are just cool.
The only other coronation/enthronement whose fashion I enjoyed was King Willem-Alexander's inauguration. These looks are my favorite:
Maxima, Inauguration
Frederick and Mary, Inauguration
Felipe and Letizia, Inauguration (they became King and Queen a year later)
Mary, Reception (not sure if this was before or after the inauguration. I think it was after or later that day since Willem-Alexander and Maxima’s daughters were wearing the same dresses from the inauguration ceremony). Mary is 💃 personified in that dress.
I also adore the dresses that Leonor and Sofia wore for King Felipe's coronation. I wish we could have seen Charlotte in dresses like these when she was younger, instead of the traditional British smocked dresses.
For funerals - I don’t know about this one. I’m a little uncomfortable focusing on the fashion at such somber occasions. I get why some people do but it’s not for me so respectfully, I’m not sharing about these. People do the best they can during times of grief and we shouldn’t fault them for choices made under duress.
That said, I think Kate looked better at Philip’s funeral and The Queen’s lying-in-state than she did at The Queen’s funeral. Her outfit choice for The Queen’s funeral felt very much like a changeover to The Princess of Wales, where she looked (and probably felt) more like herself at Philip’s funeral and the lying-in-state service.
This concludes the traditional Royal-watching week of commentary. In two weeks, I’ll spend a few days posting about the Sussexes, and opening Pandora’s Box, so if you have opinions/royal-watching questions or just want to light matches with me about the Sussexes, get them in before May 18th to be included.
Back to regular programming.

Live broadcast of ‘Le Sacre de Napoléon V’ on the national channel Francesim 2, hosted by Stéphane Bernard
(Another journalist) Ah, we have news from the gala! (Stéphane Bernard) Indeed, the doors of the Château de Versailles are opening to welcome the Emperor's first guests. The setting makes everything more delightful: it is likely His Majesty's favorite residence. He spent much time there during his childhood. (Another journalist) Who are the guests, Stéphane?
(Stéphane Bernard) The Emperor has invited the most prominent heads of state, accompanied by their spouses or heirs, in the case of monarchies. We see Queen Viviana, whose country has very strong ties with ours. Similarly, the sovereigns of Uspana share what I would call a generational friendship with the Simparte family, dating back well before the restoration of the Francesim Empire.
(Other journalist) Here is Madame's fiancé! He is unaccompanied. (Stéphane Bernard) It is well known that the Imperial Household and the Duke of Rothsey went through a period of tension a few months ago. However, this should not be seen as a sign of the Emperor's grudge. It is simply the adherence to imperial protocol on this festive day. Nonetheless, I must acknowledge that the Duke, despite his undeniable poise and sharp mind, has not yet mastered the art of pleasing his entire in-laws.

Young Queen Charlotte, played by India Amarteifio, keeps to innocent pastels in her early scenes, but her colors grow bolder as her power does too. (Liam Daniel/Netflix)
BY VALLI HERMAN
In the first minutes of the “Bridgerton” prequel “Queen Charlotte,” the namesake character complains heartily how her elaborate gown and its restrictive corset made of brittle and sharp whalebone means that if she moves too much, “I might be sliced and stabbed to death by my undergarments.”
Oh, dearest gentle reader, young Queen Charlotte hasn’t suffered in vain. Her every ensemble, and those of the show’s sizable cast, are crafted with such sumptuous detail, that surely all who view them would gladly have them suffer even more.
Even though period costumes are notoriously cumbersome, Emmy-winning costume designer Lyn Elizabeth Paolo and co-costume designer Laura Frecon dispel notions that the actors suffered much (thanks to light, modern fabrics and stretchy panels in their corsets). Still, the yearlong shoot in grand estates across the United Kingdom overlapped the pandemic lockdown and required worldwide sourcing. It seems that their brand of elegant finery was a tonic for distress, and a cause for celebration. The work, helped by a 220-person costume crew, has earned them a 2023 Emmy nomination for period costumes.
Replica undergarments were crafted from light, modern fabrics and stretchy panels to be slightly more comfortable than the actual period clothing. (Liam Daniel/Netflix)
“This [shoot] was challenging, but also joyful. Every time a piece of a costume would come back, it was, ‘Oh, my God! It looks better than we thought it would.’ There was a lot of joy there,” says Paolo, the longtime designer for other Shonda Rhimes productions, such as “Inventing Anna” and “Scandal.”
The six-episode costume drama on Netflix explores the early days of the difficult marriage of Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and King George III (Corey Mylchreest). The fictionalized story of the actual royals takes place in two time periods — the Georgian era of the 1760s and the later Regency era in which “Bridgerton” is set — and includes key characters from the original show. There are several grand balls, a royal wedding and a coronation to wardrobe. No biggie.
Or so Paolo was led to believe.
“I remember Sara Fischer, who is head of production at Shondaland, called me and said, ‘Shonda has this idea for a small, intimate show. She really wants you to do it.’ And, what are you going to say?” recalls Paolo, who was a consultant on Season 2 of “Bridgerton.”
She invented a time-twisting concept inspired by Monet and Matisse paintings and modern fashion designers who themselves referenced historical costume such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Moschino, Zuhair Murad and Christian Dior in his New Look era. Yet Paolo kept the silhouette appropriately Georgian.
“The pitch was, we kind of want it to look like a Met Ball … but to be slightly more on point with the period. We still wanted to have our own stylistic elements that would make sure that the modern eye understood the costumes,” Paolo says.

“For the men, we had images of rock ‘n’ roll icons from the ‘70s and ‘80s. So a lot of images of Prince, the New Romantics and Adam Ant. All those people back then who had that pirate chic going on.”
That vision required a mostly custom-made wardrobe that sourced from London, Los Angeles, New York, Budapest and Spain. Jewelers Joseff of Hollywood, Manhattan’s Larkspur & Hawk and Italy’s Pikkio custom made the period jewelry and other adornments. British manufacturer James Hare supplied traditional fabrics as did a mill hours from London that wove custom fabrics. Smaller artisan shops focused on hand embroidery or a particular character.
“It was sort of a small army,” says Paolo, who relied on the organizational skills of Frecon. A giant calendar and flow chart helped them track the flow of work, particularly of the embroidered pieces, which were outsourced to UK specialists Twan Lentjes Creations, Beth Parry and Hattie McGill, whose Instagram accounts illustrate their handiwork.
Other members of the court stand out in patterned fabrics (on Tunji Kasim as Adolphus) and brightly colored gowns with hats (Arsema Thomas as Agatha Danbury).
“It’s so complicated,” Paolo says, describing a process of sample making, initial embroidery, further tailoring and additional hand embellishing before a pattern piece is ever fitted into a garment. Even fabric-covered buttons were embroidered.
The women’s gowns are especially intensive. The earlier dresses, from 1760 onward, required 13 to 20 yards of fabric and at least four weeks of construction; five if they’re heavily embellished. Each ensemble requires petticoats that can add five to 10 more yards each, plus a corset, a pannier (a cage-like underpinning), a padded bum roll, shoes, stockings and garters. The jewelry sets were matched to each costume and included rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and tiara-like hair jewelry that was fitted into fantastical wigs by hair and makeup designer Nic Collins.
With two sets of characters to dress in two different eras, the costume designers were careful to build visual continuity, typically with color. Young Queen Charlotte, for example, keeps to innocent pastels in her early scenes, but her colors grow bolder as her power does too. The designers cannot precisely count the number of costume changes, or quantify the number of pieces they used, only to say “in the thousands.” Paolo says Jeff Jur, director of photography, was on board to capture the spectacle and regularly texted her and Frecon to say, “‘I’m doing a full head-to-toe shot of this one.”
Still, it’s tricky to absorb all of the detail, even though it’s there on the hand-embroidered initials on a man’s handkerchief, or the restored antique jet beading and lace on Queen Charlotte’s mourning gown, or the Easter eggs, as Paolo calls the references she wove into many costumes, particularly those in the final episode, which features an astronomy-themed ball, hosted by the king and queen.
King George loves astronomy, so stars and moons are embroidered and beaded into their clothes. The ball was shot outdoors at night, which usually obscures costume details. Jur expertly lit the scene to illuminate the clothes that were so laden with sparkly bits that they twinkle.
Though the final episode was picked to submit for Emmy consideration, the choice was “brutal,” Paolo said. “It’s a huge group of amazingly talented people who all deserve recognition. If we are lucky enough to win, I would want 220 miniature ones to hand out to everyone.”
