since my recent fixation on Sweet ANN and Big AL, i've looked through a lot of sources of information for obscure media pertaining to these voicebanks, particularly Sweet ANN as there is just more information available about her. i spent a few hours tonight compiling all that info into an iceberg and i think i'm ready to share it here!! it's not finished yet and a couple of levels are empty (mainly because idk if i can delete levels i don't need adfafds) but it has a majority of the information i was able to find by looking through the big Vocaloid wikis, vocadb and plugging dead links into the Wayback Machine. here is the berg :3

Because I liked the song. And I liked the guy who made the song.

I did NOT want to find out they were directly taken from the writings of a murderer, antisemite and nazi who has done so much overtly right wing shit, down to literally doing the hitler salute, that it is impossible to defend him even a bit

And people have ASKED about the vocal samples, BECAUSE theyre difficult to understand. No response was ever given, both of which are facts that seem like a deliberate attempt at hiding what the lyrics are and where they originate

anyways i am feeling kinda brave today so im gonna share a potentially unpopular taylor swift hot take. when i was talking to my friend yesterday about ttpd i realised that i kinda have a similar problem with the anthology as i do with evermore.

like don't get me wrong, both have absolute gems (willow, tolerate it, long story short, gold rush and NBNC from evermore are great and i love the albatross, so high school, the prophecy black dog, manuscript etc) but i think both collections (bc anthology is not an album) suffer because they came out connected to a much superior more cohesive work, and both almost feel like rejects from the body of work that proceeded it.

everyone here was soooo excited because a national channel was going to bring back this iconic tv series, directed specifically to the youth, from our childhood and adolescence that we are so nostalgic about after 11 years for them to disappoint us all with the trailer because it looks like elite 2.0

i am 42 years old & enhypen is my most listened group for the second year in a row. i do agree that hybe makes bland, super generic music but i vibe with it somehow.

i remain an SM stan at heart, i am just tired of the constant messiness & heartbreak. they have too many artists, their ability to schedule anything keeps getting worse & every release feels rushed & cheap.

i'm not denying that they have some good music, i have a few of their bsides saved, and it just depends on personal taste whether or not you like to listen to generic pop. the thing about hybe's blandness is that it does attract people, just by the basis of not being overtly sonically offensive in some way. it's a strategy that works.

i would disagree with you about all their releases being rushed and cheap however. there have been a few that have had less care put into them than i would have expected, but there's been a LOT of releases, especially from senior artists, that have had very high production value. changmin has said that he was working on devil for almost a year, and he got two full mvs, suho was sitting on grey suit for quite a while and also got two full mvs. invu, gasoline, and dice all had very high production value, as well as all three red velvet cbs. chen's last scene mv has park hae soo in it, minho's trailers have been excellent and we know that it's a full cinematic mv, which is unusual for an sm mv. have some of the nct releases been confusing and poorly timed? absolutely, but it's a stretch to say that everything the company has put out this year has been lower quality.
