Hi! Today, I’m sharing a list of mods that I consider essential for playing historical gameplay in The Sims.
I often have friends who want to dive into the Decades Challenge but aren’t sure which mods to use or where to start. So, in this post, I’m going to share the mods I personally use and think are indispensable for creating that authentic historical experience.
Tumblr media
Deaderpool's MC Command Center: This mod allows you to manage and modify many aspects of your game, including handling pregnancies, university careers, and enabling teen relationships so your Sims can marry earlier, among other features. You can also enable autosave and adjust the length of a Sim day.
Lumpinou's RPO: This mod enhances relationship dynamics and expands pregnancy features. It's extensive, with many modules, and once you've tried it, you won't want to play without it.
Pandasama's Realistic Childbirth: Offers multiple realistic childbirth options, including natural bed births and spontaneous labour, adding depth to your Sims' family lives.
MizoreYukii's Arranged Marriages: Allows you to arrange marriages for convenience. Parents can agree on marriages for their children, but breaking the arrangement won’t be easy.
Necrodog's Carriages and Horses: Adds functional carriages, enhancing immersion. While it doesn't work with the horses of Horse Ranch pack, it’s still incredibly useful.
Kuttoe's Enlist in War: It will allow your Sims to enlist in the war. Whether they live or die will be random, but if they survive, they'll receive the Veteran trait, a lifetime pension and some lasting traumas.
JaneSimsten's Regency Romance: Perfect for simulating the Regency era. It adds class differences, property ownership, etiquette skills, new traits and careers, events, and widowhood. Though inspired by the Regency era, it works well for later decades too.
SimKatu's Reading Animation Override: Changes the reading animations, with different ones for men and women, making your Sims’ reading time more immersive.
Zero's Deadly Dickensian Sicknesses: Introduces the risk of diseases like Tuberculosis, Typhoid Fever, and Cholera. It’s incredibly realistic with its contagion system.
Adeepindigo's Healthcare Redux: A comprehensive health mod that adds various illnesses and treatments, including tuberculosis and (early access) cancer. While Sims can buy modern medicines, many illnesses can be cured with natural remedies.
Adeepindigo's Simulated Endings: This mod will enhance everything related to your Sims' deaths, allowing them to take out life insurance and designate beneficiaries, arrange funeral preparations, and introduce stages of grief for your Sims.
MizoreYukii's Functional Broom: Adds a functional broom with its own animation, letting you keep your Sims’ homes clean without resorting to modern vacuums.
Triplis's Quit or Join School: In case you need your teens or childs to quit school.
The Kalino's Farm Animal Set: Expands your farm with more animals, including goats, sheep, ducks and more, in addition to the standard cows and chickens.
JaneSimsten's Write With Quills: Replaces your Sims' pens with quills, adding a touch of historical accuracy.
JaneSimsten's Sidesaddle Override: Allows female Sims to ride horses sidesaddle, as they would have in the past.
JaneSimsten's Parchment Computer: Replaces modern computers with parchment and quills, complete with their own animations—perfect for pre-typewriter eras.
Frankk's Language Barriers: More realism to sims being from different worlds.
Rs4ella's 1920s Grade School Homework Override: Changes the look of the kids' homework book to a 1920s style, but it works well for earlier periods too.
Xbrilliantsims's Toddler Bathtime Overrides: Replaces modern bath toys and sponges with more era-appropriate items when bathing toddlers.
Lunamoth's Historical Infant Carriers: Swaps out modern baby carriers for fabric slings, suitable for any historical era.
Lunamoth's Rope Pet Leash: Replaces the modern pet leash with a simple rope, making it look more appropriate for historical gameplay.
300yearschallenge's Historical Baby Bath Override: Changes the baby bath seat to a more suitable design, or you can opt for
Sassymissollie's Invisible Infant Bath Seat to remove it entirely.
JaneSimsten's 5 Day Work Week: Choose Your Own Work Hours: Lets you adjust your Sims' work schedules for a more realistic experience.
JaneSimsten's Marksmanship Skill: Adds a marksmanship skill, allowing your Sims to practise shooting and hunting, with the hunted animals available for cooking.
Littlbowbub's Ye Olde Cookbook: Enables your Sims to cook historical dishes, perfect for low-income Sims in older settings.
Basemental's Basemental Drugs: Although mainly known for adding drugs, it’s commonly used for its smoking features, letting your Sims smoke cigarettes and cigars like a proper Victorian gentleman.
MizoreYukii's Children/Toddlers Can Die of Anything: Allows your child Sims to die, useful if your storyline requires it.
Ayoshi's Phone to Notebook Replacement Mod: If phone elimination mods are causing issues, this mod might help. It replaces the mobile phone with a small notebook, which could pass for a mini Bible or an old-fashioned notebook.
JaneSimsten's Extra Cross-Stitch Patterns: Adds historically accurate cross-stitch patterns.

Astro Observations -3 ✨
Here we go with Part-3!!! 😍🤩
(These observations are based on the whole sign system, sidereal charts and all obs are subject to change with other aspects in the chart, so don't conclude anything with a single placement) ❤
Note: All obs here are for D1 chart if I didn't mention the chart name specifically, for divisional charts I've given 'in D4, D9' specification. 💛
Mercury Mahadasha (Major planetary period)- Everybody talking about having relationships during Venus Mahadasha but Mercury mahadasha and having mercury-venus conjunction or mercury-rahu conjunction in chart leads to multiple relationships and heartbreaks 😭😐
Ketu Mahadasha- At the end of 7 years, you'll be a whole different person lmaooo, truly more humbled than saturn mahadasha imo. 🙃😂
Mars-Mercury conjunction in D4 chart- Endless cycle of buying and selling lands/any properties. You'll benefit from this but the pattern of buying and then selling can be seen frequently. 😄😇
Mars-Rahu conjunction - Your own perfectionist tendencies will cause restlessness to you and those around you. If one of your parents has this, good luck, they might be finding faults on every little thing you do. 😬☹
Sun-Ketu conjunction - If you rush through things, it would not end up good for you, slow and steady wins the race is the lesson you would be forced to learn. 🤧
Water risings - Keep some secrets to yourself, showing 100% authenticity will only bring controversies to you. You'll see that ppl who appeared non-judgemental will start distancing themselves or grow judgemental towards you once you spill all the tea. It's because most ppl with this rising can have some WTF kinda secrets 😶
Venus-Ketu conjunction - If you like Electrical, Electronics related subjects, feel free to pursue that, you'll shine like the brightest star. 🤩
Aries moons (Esp. Aswini moons)- Golden child vibes. Your siblings can be more chaotic than you. You could be someone who lives by the rules set by your parents until you become independent. More like, this is not a placement of rebellious or chaotic children, they don't even talk back to their parents sometimes.☺
Mars/Sun/Jupiter in conjunction with 1H lord- This is funny but you'll get a second chance or a time period to escape from your mistakes. Watch out! They won't get caught/framed or struck in any problem that easily.🤫
Venus-Rahu conjunction - Burnt or blackened skin somewhere (house placement can tell the possible body part) and sensitive skin can also be an issue.😷
If Venus placement is present after Jupiter's placement- please save some money for retirement age. These people can have good earnings but fail to save for later. Ex. Jupiter in Gemini and Venus in Leo, Venus is present AFTER Jupiter. 💯
Mars-Ketu conjunction in Women - Very sharp tongue and cordial relationship with your spouse could be affected because of this. The catch is the effects are reduced when the spouse's profession is in healthcare, law or if he's spiritually inclined.💛
Rahu & Saturn Mahadasha- Individuals undergoing these dashas respectively should NOT marry each other during this time. Rahu MD person may feel pulled down by Saturn MD person as their inclinations will be different.😌
Taurus risings in D9= Never breaks their promises. They would be putting their heart and soul to maintain their word and can be burdened with loads of family responsibilities solely resting on their shoulders. They can be the ONLY breadwinners in the family or the one who earns more.🖤
Placements who change their jobs/source of income frequently:
Mercury in 2H/Taurus
Mercury in conjunction with 2H lord
2H & 3H lord in conjunction
Venus/Jupiter/2H lord in Gemini
(This can also mean that they like to explore and get bored of monotonous works or have too many interests/talents and end up being confused in what to choose, so they jump from one to another)💯👀
Let's Learn and Grow Together! 💋💅
With Love-Yashi ❤⚡

Happy WBW! In honor of the pain bestowed upon me by the Blood Goddess 🙃, what is your world like in relation to sicknesses, injuries, and other afflictions? Feel free to discuss the medical system or how jobs/institutions respond, or even how individual characters feel!
Hello, my lovely Tori!
I am going to hit on a few of my world in today's answer, so I hope you have some potions, a snack, even a nice warm blanket to cuddle up in if you're in the Northern Hemisphere...or are basking in the warmth if you're in the Southern. This is gonna be long, babes!
@theimperiumchronicles
On Earth, well...it's Earth, so look around...it fucking SUCKS ASS!! Nowhere is perfect and there is suffering everywhere. Some of the supernatural creatures try to help, but much like Star Trek has the Prime Directive, they try not to get too involved and fuck things up for them all. The more they meddle, the more chance that humans will figure out that the paranormal and supernatural are real...and well...you remember the witch trials right?!
In most other realms, injuries naturally heal on their own. The speed depends on the type of being that is injured, how bad the injury is, and how they were injured. There are some beings who are gifted with healing abilities that can help speed up this process. For instance Abriella is a skilled healer, as is Cruz, and Adriel. When there are battle injuries, they help those affected. Arch can concoct healing potions and poultices as well.
Regarding sickness, there is none like a virus. Bacteria is little. This is because of the self healing nature of the beings. If they were to get something like a cold, their self healing would defeat it before they were to feel it. Through evolution in the realms, what humans view ad disease has been defeated.
Now poisoning, that is another matter. There are many plants that are poisonous, as well as venomous animals. How those are treated depends on what plant/animal poisoned the being, the type of being, and the reaction of the being. Sometimes healers are able to counteract the poison/venom, sometimes a mage will have to step in with a concoction.
Most realms have some form of hospital, but they aren't like those on Earth. They are smaller because most beings can heal themselves, so only those in dire need of healing would go to one. If you think back to the Victorian times when they had the respite spas that were more like vacations, that is what they are like. They are plush, comfortable, and the patient is taken care of very well. The healers pay good attention to them, they are fed well, and they get lots of fresh air and sunshine because for most beings, that DOES help. Most of the healing centers have a ward that is always sunny and warm, cast by an elemental, so that the patients can get that even when winter outside.
Now, for the touchy subject - disabilities. It is up to the being. Some beings go to healers and deities to have them resolved. Some get prosthetics/aids/helpers to assist them. Others find ways to cope/deal/work with their disabilities so that they do not hinder their life. There are those in most realms that have some kind of disability. For instance there are those in the Imperium army who have lost eyes, ears, limbs, and fingers in battle. Some have had them regrown, others have prosthetics, others have learned to live with the missing body part and still are able to serve ins some capacity.
@devil-in-the-details-ay
Like in Imperium, the non human beings self heal. Because we are dealing with different belief pantheons of human religions, there really isn't an organized healthcare system as such. If there are confrontations or battles, they can heal each other if they are gravely wounded. There aren't diseases, but they can appear "sick" if they are badly wounded and are taking some time to heal. Most of the characters are gods (both greater and lesser), demi-gods, and beings that serve the gods. There will be some preternatural, supernatural, and paranormal beings thrown in for some spice, but again there isn't really an organized medical system for them. There are healers they go to if needed. Astaroth IS DEATH. He can kill (including totally obliterating the essence of the spirit so there is no afterlife at all), he can resurrect, he can heal anything. Yara is going to have some pretty nifty powers as well, and killing is one of them.
@battlegroundofdreams
Here things work a little differently. Most of what I'm going to be covering is in the legion of dream warriors and assassins. They do have a sick bay/hospital ward. They can sustain injuries in and out of the dreams. What they experience in the dream does affect them outside the dream, but not as extreme. The only exception is death, you die in the dream world, you are dead. There are pathogens similar to human diseases, and those are handled by the sick bay/hospital ward in the legion. There are vaccines for things. They do have healers as well who are more like our "doc in a box" type of urgent care centers who come to the warriors after they come out of the dreams to see if there are minor injuries that they haven't been able to mend on one another. The warriors are taught basic medic training, similar to EMT.
@bendingthelaws @behindthesemasks @the-andromeda-effect @magical-mistakes-vm Bayou Witches (which will have a page soon) - these are all based in our reality-ish in our world, so they are all what is in reality
@tapperhet-em and @princess-of-thieves-id are set in worlds not to unlike ours. While they are fantasy kingdoms, there are not the supernatural overtones of Imperium or the other WIPs where the main characters are not human. All the characters here are human. They are injured like humans, get sick like humans, etc. The medical realm is kind of like rural healthcare. There are private doctors for the wealthy, which they all are, so they wouldn't have much exposure to public health care. That will change a bit since they are on the run. However, with how the story is looking to go they are going to stick with private as much as possible to keep Meeri hidden. There is some magic, mages, and alchemy. However, medicine isn't much different than what we are used to, it's just supplemented with the mystical as well.
@whileyouwait-dm
Since this all takes place in Hell, you're pretty much SOL if you need help....UNLESS you're special to Djall. And, lucky for Miriana, she will be. Djall has the ONLY healer in the entirity of Hell. So, that is the healthcare. Of course beings there can get injured, but they better hope that they heal before something else decides to snack on them or abuse them more, because unless they have Djall's favor, they aren't getting any help. There is no real illness, but like Imperium, there are poisons and venomous creatures that reside there. Djall's healer is adept at taking care of that. Djall might have a few tricks up his sleeve as well. He is the Lord Of Hell after all.
@sehnsuchtrising
I'm still working on this one, I'll be honest. I've gotten one chapter written and the damn blorbos have made me rewrite it four times and none of them are remotely the same. Katerina is a Sorceress, so she can heal the members of the party...that's all I got right now. *holds up hands and shrugs*
Sooooooo.....there you go...I think...until someone decides to change it. LOL

if there is one thing i would like to get through the head of other people within the imperial core, it is this:
part 1: social democracy
because the countries of the imperial core are capitalist, most people in them have the experience of being exploited for a paycheck at work and living in a society full of inequality and injustice. this makes it easy for people to intuitively and organically arrive at the position that there should be higher taxes on the ultra-rich within the existing political and economic system, with those taxes being used to fund social programs like healthcare, education, or a universal basic income. it would create more well-paying, unionized, government jobs. this political position tends to go together with the desire to reduce inequality on the basis of gender, race, religion, sexuality, immigration status, and so on. people know that they are experiencing inequality and injustice, and they see a way to decrease it: get politicians to tax the rich and fund social programs, either by pressuring the existing ones or electing new ones. they generally want more social equality for their neighbours too. let's call this political program social democracy.
when climate disasters, economic crises, mass protests, or other social upheavals raise the question of replacing the entire political and economic system with something else, social democracy argues that it will give regular people more breathing room to survive, so that we all have more time and energy to organize for a more radical change. when capitalists demand austerity and the right wing aims to achieve it by slashing existing public services and replacing them with a more empowered patriarchal family unit, the defensive version of social democracy arises—which argues that corporate taxes shouldn't be lowered further, that funding for social programs shouldn't be cut even more, and that politicians need to be elected or pressured to stop the damage. these are some of the ways that advocates for social democracy adapt their argument to changing conditions.
it all makes intuitive sense, but it leaves out one important dimension of economic relations: the international dimension. in the imperial core, it is easier to remain ignorant about the international side of capitalism, because by definition the consequences of this side are mostly felt by people in other countries. it's different from the exploitation and inequality that we directly experience ourselves. to fully evaluate social democracy as a political program, we need to clear up our ignorance about the international side of capitalism. that means learning about imperialism.
part 2: imperialism
in imperialist countries, the export of capital acquires exceptional economic importance compared to the export of commodities. in other words: monopoly capitalists can make more money by setting up facilities in other countries and exploiting workers at them to a higher degree, rather than by selling domestically produced commodities on the world market.
take the mining sector in canada for example, which is a major part of the canadian economy. almost half of the world's publicly traded mining companies are based in canada. some of their activity does involve mining in canada and selling the products globally: mining is the single largest shipping sector by volume for canada's railways and ports, and minerals and metals accounted for 21% of goods exported from canada in 2022. however, in that same year, only 33% of assets (such as mines) owned by canadian mining companies were located in canada. most of them are located in latin america and africa, where they perpetrate extreme exploitation and horrific violence against workers, indigenous nations, and the ecosystem to an even greater extent than they do domestically.
so, in the canadian mining sector, the export of capital plays a more important role than the export of commodities, which is one of the key traits of an imperialist economy. another key trait of the imperialist stage of capitalism is the merging of industrial capital and banking capital into finance capital, which we also see in the case of canada's mining sector. for example: RBC, the largest bank in canada, is also the largest shareholder in Nutrien, the largest mining company in canada.
while canadian mining companies make up a large part of canada's internal economy—exploiting workers, destroying ecosystems, and stealing land from indigenous nations—two times as many of their assets are devoted to carrying out these same activities in other countries under worse conditions, all for the profit of canadian financiers. this is what is meant by imperialist wealth.
part 3: internationalism
so having looked at an example of imperialism, we can return to the question of evaluating social democracy. if higher taxes on the ultra-rich are used to fund more social programs in a given country, but those ultra-rich take most of their profits in the first place by exploiting workers to an even higher degree in other countries, then this political program does not actually reduce inequality—it only redistributes a larger cut of imperialist plunder to the citizens of the imperial core.
it does not actually give most regular people more breathing room to survive, or reduce the harm they experience, or give them more time and energy to organize for more radical change—the majority of the regular people in the equation are revealed to be living in other countries, experiencing just as much exploitation and receiving no social benefit regardless of the tax rate for the rich in the imperial core. these justifications are revealed to only serve the interests of imperial core citizens, expanding and entrenching their reliance on imperialist wealth to increase their standard of living at the continued expense of the rest of the world.
once exposed to these facts about social democracy, people in the imperial core who have organically reached it as their political position—through their own experiences of exploitation and injustice—have two options:
to maintain the same political program of electing or pressuring politicians to tax the rich for more social programs, but to admit that its basis of collective self-interest is the country of which they are a citizen, not the international working class. it means entering into a deal with the country's ultra-rich for a bigger cut of their profits, in exchange for maintaining the current imperialist system which dominates other countries under their control—including through war. ideologically, this means embracing nationalism—and by extension, the racism on which the whole system is built.
to seek a new political program of fighting against the whole capitalist imperialist system, overthrowing the control of the ultra-rich through socialist revolutions, with an expanded basis of collective self-interest in the international working class. it means supporting national liberation movements that are decried and villainized by your own government, with the understanding that your greatest oppressors gain most of their material power to control all of you by oppressing people in other countries. ideologically, this means proletarian internationalism.
the first option represents short-term self-interest. it's a less risky fight, and it might achieve somewhat better conditions for those pursuing it, but those gains can be lost again at any time because ultimately the capitalists remain in control of the system—and if keeping your standard of living high stops being the cheapest way to keep you under control, they'll switch to direct repression without pause. the second option represents long-term self-interest. it's a much bigger struggle, and it involves a more challenging transformation of your life and of society, but the people of imperialized nations around the world will be fighting it whether you're with or against them—and no empire lasts forever.
so if you've read to the end of this post, social democrat of the imperial core, which will it be: socialism or barbarism?

I'd love more info about the individual system members! I also think a full list of ND headcanons for your Jon and Eddie would be cool too! Again, no pressure and thanks so much!!
tysm for clarifying! imma post some art about the different Scarecrow system members today so I’ll list some ND headcanons for ya now ☺️
Putting under a read more cos this got long!
Scarecrow
Scarecrow, as you know, I headcanon as having DID and by extension CPTSD because lets be real their childhood was horrid
He struggles alot with dissocaitive amensia and would probably say that is the part of his mental health he finds the most 'disabling'
He's spent a lot of his life dissociating from any strong emotion be that positive or negative and can barely remember happy moments let alone sad one (e.g., he can't remember getting his doctorate etc.) followed closely by their frequent flashbacks which manifest as bodily feeling flashbacks rather then actual memories.
Thier autistic and very unashamed of it.
Suprisingly were diagnosed in childhood despite the general neglect they faced but this was not a positive thing for them (see their Granny tried to 'fix it')
He never really therefore had like an autism discovery like some later diagnosed people and his response to being autistic was just kind of "Okay then."
He is not very 'good' with social stuff and gets overstimmed extremely easily leading to alot of angry outbursts that others precieve as 'temper tantrums' but he's geniunely in agony from the sensory inputs around him and the response is actually porpotional to what he's experiencing. (Wild right? Autistic people's 'irrational' responses might actually be rational to their experiences /sarcasm)
They are all stimming all the time because otherwise they'll scream but the way they stim varies between the alters in their system and isn't always the safest stim (what I mean by this is some of their stims cause them bodily harm but I don't like calling those 'bad' because that's very shaming)
Alot of people around them assume they don't experience empathy and there's definitely times where they have low empathy but they also experience very intense empathy to people their close to, to animals, and objects they just can't communicate this externally
Thier empathy for objects is very strong and why they fix so many items they find (that art piece 'Can't Help Myself' by Sun Yuang and Peng Yu left them catatonic with an intense grief and empathy for like a week)
He gets very focused on things and overall struggles to take care of himself any meaningful way without support. Like he will forget to eat or clean himself till he gets very stick from it without prompting and support
He likely needs a carer to help but doesn't have one and has to rely on his few friends when their free to keep him alive which does not help with his feelings of guilt and he'll often push people away so their not 'burdened' by him and so they don't feel bad for leaving him to rot.
In reality, his friends do not find it a burden at all and actually enjoy his company when he lets them.
He helps them all much more then he realises but he's stubborn like an ox and won't here it (e.g., helping him gives Jervis a schedule and routine that helps him remember more grounded and Jons company makes him very happy)
He has alot of support needs that often go unmet but he is loved and not a failure for that
Not ND but disability related is they definitely have physical health issues too
Specifically Ehlers-Dahlos Syndrome (like me!) and Marfan Syndrome
They have alot of joint pain, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue that contributes them get overstimmed quicker
They self medicate for this alot becuase they cannot afford how expensive healthcare is in Gotham so are usually a little stoned but that does help get less overstimmed so win-win
He's great to have as a friend to because he always baby apsrin (incase his heart plays up), nausea meds, and weed on him.
Edward
Edward has been misdiagnosed and rediagnosed so many times at this point hes skeptical about what actually applies to him so tends to just say hes neurodivergent if asked
As a child he was just labelled as 'petulant know it all' and got told he 'could be great if he'd just apply himself' in school
He's been diagnosed with the following over the years: basically every cluster b personality disorder depending on the doctor, autism, ADHD, autism and adhd, dyspraxia, brief psychotic disorder, OCD etc.
He personally finds AuDHD and OCD to be the most accurate and isn't sure what name you can give to his mood swings but he is relucantly willing to acknowledge that his emotional response seems inappropriate to situations
His complusions can be very dangerous and have lead to him being quite injured though with age he's got better at redirecting himself to do less harm to himself or reducing how much he needs to do something
He's found additional coping strategies like wearing gloves all the time to reduce his contamination fears that have been super helpful too
He's very fidgety and struggles to sit still and is often heard mumbling and talking to himself as a form of stimming (which one of Scarecrow's system finds very soothing actually like a particularly clever hyperlexic white noise machine)
His coordination isn't the best which frustrates him when he's trying to build his puzzles and leads to him relucantly, so very relucantly, asking for assistance from Echo and Query or in what he sees as the worse case scenario Jervis Tetch if its something more technical
He has hypergraphia and is always drawing and writing on things often feeling like his brain is too full and he needs to get it out
He struggles with some auditory halluncinations and occasional visual ones if he's spiralling (not going to share what because it can be triggering to people with hallucinations to read about)
He struggles alot with body image issues constantly trying to look 'perfect' so he seems more in controll then he feels as he's is terrfied of people realising how much of a fraud his confident exterior is
His weight flucuatates alot with the different medication he takes for his mental health and with his hrt which causes him some distress
Basically any change he cannot control upsets him
More physical disability headcanons: He actually needs his cane as he struggles with fibromyalgia and POTS so needs it to help relieve leg pain and for balance
He does water aerobics as a gentle excercise that helps with his pain (he thinks Scarecrow would benefit from it but he refuses to go with him - it would be so nice on his joints!)
Edward actually experiences alot more low empathy then Scarecrow and had to teach himself sympathy because he did not understand others at all when they were upset or happy
He's quite touch avoidant and isn't sure why (probably trauma Edward) because he often feels like he is so desparate to be hugged that he has been hollowed out with a melon bawler
In addition he often feels very nervous around other men especailly when they get aloud or drunk (once again trauma) so often ends up with closer friendships with the women in his life like Echo Query or the Gotham Sirens who often joke that he is their diversity man hire.
I hope you enjoyed my ramblings!

“idk. at the end of the day, you also just HAVE to admit that taylor is a really bizarre icon to use to meaningfully discuss far left beliefs ajdfkal” true, like if im talking to someone on this topic, im not gonna go “and here’s taylor swift as an example to portray what i believe!”
i do think that of course she works in capitalist systems, UMG and ticketmaster being the 2 big examples, but that she’s not like “capitalism is the way to go!” person (but maybe that’s just me using her as a vessel and projecting myself haha). i think she is somewhere in the middle. like she partakes in it but also half of her net worth is just the cost of her catalogue, and a lot of it is because fans just buy her stuff and believe in supporting her, and she is known to compensate her workers immensely and share credit wherever it’s due. but also she 100% knows she can’t get out of using TM or UMG, and whether it’s willingly or unwillingly, she is contributing to capitalism through her businesses so ofc she can’t be like “no capitalism ❌” because that would be hypocritical and tone-deaf af.
anyway, i hope what i was trying to say came through even though it’s the most terrible wording known ever.
i hear what you're saying - she's a caring person! i think we are saying the same thing, but to be clear, i'm saying that taylor probably thinks capitalism is... fine? good even? tbh i think most americans feel this way too, they just also wish we had universal healthcare and better safety nets and more social equality. or maybe it's not "good" but there is not a better option, and we should improve what we have than dismantle it.
i'm sure taylor wishes she didn't have to rely on businesses with bad practices because really what she wants is to deliver quality product while compensating people fairly and charging a fair price; she sacrifices that when she has to work with others, like tm or her new merch people.
but i think it's fair to say that taylor likes making money and likes running her own business. she also likes helping people, which is great and is one reason why i like her. but if anyone wants to discuss her politics i think it's just best to be honest about them! because at that point, you can have a more enlightened discussion about politics as a whole (if you are discussing politics in relation to taylor swift, anyway.)

Hi KBfriend <3
Excuse me marching in here unannounced. I decided to send some asks, and well, I thought that perhaps you might also like these questions. (Feel free to answer in your own time or ignore as your spoons allow. <3)
I know we love to talk about breaking the rules in writing and obviously, that not every piece of advice is one-size-fits all, but there is a lot to say about being able to speak with each other about what we have learned during our journey. I was wondering if you wouldn't share. (I also plan on poking some of the others to see what more we can shake out. The more the merrier, no?)
What is the most useful/helpful pieces of advice you ever received during your formal education in relation to writing?
Once you started to write, what was the most important thing that you learned about writing or its process?
Has your real life/job had any influence on your writing? If so, how?
What advice would you give to aspiring writers (be it fanfiction or original)?
Hi friend! Thank you for these asks. I will never turn down an opportunity to natter on about things, my inbox is always open!
It took me awhile to think of one, because the vast majority of my formal writing education was for nonfiction and the little bit of creative writing we were assigned was generally poetry and I HATED poetry as a kid. BUT. I distinctly remember one of my middle school English teacher saying that the worst thing our writing could be wasn't being "bad" (whether technically or narratively) The worst thing our writing could be was boring. I remember her saying she'd rather read 100 bad stories that were interesting, or at least where the author's passion shone through, than one "good" story where nothing interesting happened or the author clearly was just checking boxes about what should happen in a narrative arc. She would forget a good-but-boring story immediately while every terrible-but-interesting-and-passionate story was very unique and memorable. This leads into my answer for question 2...
When I started writing fanfic on FFN waaaaay back in 2002, I realized that some people were going to hate what I wrote no matter what - after all, I hated some perfectly fine fics for reasons that had nothing to do with their quality. The people who wanted to read the things I was writing would find me, and they did! I still have friends from way back then, even though we've all moved on to other fandoms and hobbies. So yeah, that was what I learned - fuck the haters, write EXACTLY what you want, your people will find you. It was heady stuff for someone who was always That Nerdy Weird Horse Girl in school.
Oh yeah. I was a paramedic for almost a decade. I'm now a biologist in a medical pathology department. I definitely use my knowledge of A&P and quite a bit of the trauma I witnessed and ended up being subjected to as part of the USian For Profit Healthcare system. Also, it wasn't ever my actual job (unless you count the under the table farm labor I did for a goat dairy in college) but growing up in a rural farming community and around animals has given me a big interest in the history of agriculture, and I love writing about people doing subsistence farming.
My advice builds off of my answers to 1 & 2. Don't put things in your story or write stories out of a sense of duty. Don't censor yourself because you think it might be "too much" or "turn away readers." Write (and draw and create) what you want with your whole chest. I have devoured fics that were barely readable due to atrocious grammar and spelling about characters I didn't even really like with a premise I thought was stupid and pointless because the author made it interesting, and a big part of making it interesting despite the shortcomings was how much the passion they had poured into it came through, and that they were clearly having a blast the entire time they were writing/channeling their id. This is related to something that kills me when I see it on fanfiction discussion communities especially about fics with explicit sexual content - people snickering about how obvious it is that "the author had their hands down their pants while writing this." MORE HANDS-DOWN-PANTS SMUT I SAY. NO SHAME. So I guess that's my advice. NO SHAME. Want to write the filthiest, most ✨problematic✨ smut ever? NO SHAME, WRITE THAT PORN. Want to tenderly describe every step of the main villain disemboweling a unicorn? NO SHAME, SHOW ME THAT SPARKLE BLOOD. Want to write yourself as the Maryiest Sue who ever Mary Sue'd having fun in the fictional world of your choice? NO SHAME, YOU 👏GO👏GLEN👏COCO! Life is short, and late stage capitalism robs us of joy every chance it gets. Don't rob yourself of joy.

how covid unsocialized me.
it's hard for me to even wax poetic about my experiences because I saw how little anything mattered. so many of us died and even more wrote it off like god was thinning the herd or like the most vulnerable of us getting picked off was deserved because of what the most brutal and uncaring of us did. it made me form a stark contrast between who I thought "us" was and who I realized "they" are.
it made it really hard for me to live day to day without ruminating about our systems and how unhappy I am playing pretend doing stupid shit to make money for people who proved to me that they don't care about me. why am I doing this? why do I have to participate ? how are the rest of you happy and complacent this way, but how dare I say that? in what way have I proven myself a pure saint of a paragon? I have sinned with my apathy.
now I'm so completely disillusioned with any attempt to care about anything because I watched in real time as everything shifted. as covid broke us and rebuilt us for THEIR convenience. yes being gay is okay, to sell you stuff. but we'll take your rights away. yes we care about work life balance... but only if our job controls our access to healthcare and we have to be there more than enough to warrant the work we do.
and it's not like it was great before! it's not like something amazing was ruined and I'm just mad at covid for fucking it up. it was bad and it was a matter of time before something sparked change, and I feel like that was supposed to be covid. if it wasn't that, it was gonna be something else. we had this whole opportunity to actually change and heal the earth and ourselves but we FUCKED THAT UP. we're STILL FUCKED UP YEARS LATER. how many more years of this am I going to witness and bear apathy to because I have no better choice???
it feels with so much bad shit compounding on top of each other, like an unhealthy mind, our unhealthy society ruminating on their problems and blaming each other instead of getting up to help has just left me defeated. the fight goes on and I am no soldier. it's every day. it's always feeling stupid for feeling hopeful and then feeling regret for overcorrecting with rage. I feel like my words are so foreign and long winded to people now that expressing myself, like trying to be saved during COVID, was useless. I legitimately have thoughts like "well at least people who are dead now don't have to worry about what a shit world it's becoming lol" but I can't even EXPRESS that I feel that way because Tumblr police in my head from 16 years of being on the only website that hasn't died yet -- but only has a MILLION rules you have to abide by unless you want a callout post and to develop borderline personality disorder -- will remind me that thoughtcrimes are actually that serious like just as bad as the real shit that is happening with the people with guns and money and power and law making abilities and you should be killed for them too. even though the war is bad. like, these rules don't make any fucking sense but I still have to abide by them.
and then I go into these huge metaphors and assumptions about life and it's echo chambering in my own brain and I actually feel like I turned into the joker. except I'm not even allowed to relate to that because everyone in the ship tag you follow to try to alleviate some of the symptoms of the rot on your mental health that is Daily Life has become an expert on how you should think about them too and they will also kill and ostracize you for having a headcanon that maybe onions have layers sometimes and then you're just better off rambling in every text post you ever make and then deleting it because everything you've ever said has gotten a decreasing amount of notes until it's become 0 and every single one of your artist friends has followers in the thousands but still wants your pity because hating ourselves is too addictive to ever trying to be positive about anything.
like man I am BITTER!!!!!! 🤪😂🙂‍↕️🤝🥰🥴🤪☺️

Why I’m leaving your community:
(The long answer that I can't format well on Twitter)
There is a short answer to this.
Like there’s a “This whole post could have ended in the less than amount of characters that are before this period”.
But that wouldn’t do this whole thing justice. There has been so much thought put into this. So much tossing and turning how to best go about it. If this was something I even wanted to do. I will not be using specific people's names; I don’t want anyone to feel that I’m calling someone out in particular. Honestly, I hope that EVERYONE who reads this gets something out of it, not just the community leaders that I’m asking to think about how they operate. How they are forming their spaces. How it’s harming the people around them.
There isn’t really a formal “start” of my thinking for this, so I’ll start with the beginning of formulating this post. It happened during a seemingly unrelated event. Our philosophy department invited someone from the community to talk about food systems and how we interact with that. Trust me, I’m not leaving because of your food choices. Instead of me pulling something from the actual topic of the talk, it was rather a general trend that this person brought up that got me thinking. It was the idea of hypocrisy. How should we go about saying things if our actions are something different? If I claim to care about the planet and say we should reduce our greenhouse emissions, it wouldn’t make a lot of sense if I turn around and take a private jet everywhere, would it? I strive to put in the work to match my words.
It would have just stayed at that. No need to put any extra thought in. But I couldn’t. In the audience was a philosophy professor I’ve had a couple times now. The last time I talked to her was at a panel about the genocide in Palestine. I wasn’t able to talk to her, just a quick wave and hello. I kept thinking about that original panel I saw her at in relation to this new one. I couldn't shake the feeling that I could be doing more. Talk more about the hard stuff. In context of this talk? Maybe the harsh labor conditions that people have to work in with little pay. Maybe the mistreatment of animals, and the horrendous conditions they are in. I keep thinking back to it. And it raised a horrific question that changed how I saw some of the communities that I’m in.
Is the safety of others political?
This question is meant to be a trap. Go ahead and think about the answer. Do the animals we inhabit this world with deserve to have shelter and nourishment? This includes us human animals, in case that needs to be clarified. Do our fellow living beings on this planet live an inherently political existence?
Some time ago, my clear answer would be no. It is not political. I would think about the hierarchy of needs; that all creatures need food, water, shelter and rest. These were so basic, that it would be inhuman to not let everyone exist with these.
And yet here we are.
This is political. Everything is fucking political even if it shouldn’t be.
As a personal example, my existence is political. People are debating if I should get healthcare, if I should even exist. People who think that I’m messed up in the mind, that I’m a predator, that I should end my life to remove myself from their world. That’s just a political thing about who I am. It’s political to ask to not have to live paycheck to paycheck. It’s political to ask to be able to afford a place to live. It’s political to ask that gun laws be tighter. It’s political to have autonomy of my own body. It’s political to ask for the end of a genocide that has killed over 33,000 people in Gaza in the past six months.
To claim to not be political is to claim that these hardships do not exist. That the hard conversations to try and help people can not be had.
This next section is about someone specific. I debated even putting it in. In the end, I feel like I have to. I think about it far too often to leave it out.
I spoke to someone during a strike week that Palestinians asked for. A strike that Palestinians hoped would bring attention to their genocide; that someone would finally take action to try and stop Israel. I asked them why they were streaming. Originally, they canceled the stream that day and had not even planned on going live. “I thought you weren’t streaming because of the strike?” I was wrong. I was “too political”. And it hurts. This happened months ago and I still keep thinking about it. I almost dared to ask them something to push the envelope: “Why didn’t you just do nothing then?” To be silent is to be complicit with what’s going on, but I would be better than actively going against the strike. It wouldn’t be interacting with resources on social media, or reading about Palestine, talking about it to others, but it wouldn’t be negative. To this day I wish I was confrontational. If they wouldn’t budge and it ruined our friendship, I don’t think it would have mattered. I’m leaving anyway.
That’s why this is being written. To think that you can avoid politics is impossible. To have me in your community is political. I wish it wasn’t that way, but that is how it is right now. I’m leaving your community if you say you don’t allow politics.
I’ve decided not to ask anyone to leave my community though. Not yet. I want to have a conversation; I want people to think more about the world they live in. Feel free to reach out and talk to me about it. Come with an open mind. Think about how your life is political, and how much privilege it means to not have faced that fact before.

i’ll freely admit i was a big my little pony fan in my teen years (the last episode i remember watching is the one where they go to that town where no one has a cutie mark / everyone has the same cutie mark; i was like 16 by this point and coming out of that phase) and i’ll still have moments where i sit and be pulled back towards it a bit because it just has so much potential like, world-wise
like
cutie marks, okay? they’re your talent+passion and demonstrably completely unique. so if you’re on the run for whatever reason, is your cutie mark put up on the wanted posters alongside your headshot?
what are the cultural attitudes towards tattooing your cutie mark? in crimes where someone might damage a person’s face, that sense of control and robbing of identity, are cutie marks also disfigured in this way? do some ponies choose to reject their cutie marks and have them tattooed over or otherwise defaced? would some cultures consider it a crime in itself to deface your or someone else’s mark, even consensually?
and if you’re in, idk, witness protection or something, do you need to get it tattooed? are you forced to abandon your greatest talent and joy because that in itself, engaging in it, could get you recognised? what life are you left with? is it even a life worth living at all?
and in areas with lots of ponies, how does the socioeconomical aspect of a cutie mark function? how does every location seem to have every individual needed to function, like food, healthcare, education, etc?
is there some latent biological hive mind that decides ‘oh this village doesn’t have anyone in the agricultural sector—we need a couple harvester or farmer cutie marks so people can still eat’? in which case, what is the nature of free will and identity?
is the concept of a cutie mark a biological incentive to make propagating the species seem innately pleasing, like the rush of hormones after someone gives birth so the pain of childbirth is offset and they bond to the baby and they’re more likely to go through it again, furthering humanity?
like, your genes making you truly, deeply believe that harvesting food is your special talent, and your favourite thing to do, but is that just because the local area needed some more food workers and your personality, your self, evolved to fit that niche?? what even is free will?! what is selfhood??
or if not, is there a concept of being ‘reassigned’ to an area because hey! this city needs more teachers so we’re forcing some teacher ponies in this area with too many teacher ponies to relocate?? or are ponies whose cutie marks aren’t particularly ‘useful’ forced to do something as a job that isn’t their passion because elsewise they can’t pay bills? what’s the cultural consensus on NOT having a job related to your cutie mark? is it viewed negatively, or is it seen as noble? if it’s negative, does that negativity fall back on the system of government forcing them into this situation, or is the individual themselves deemed as defective by denying their true self?
would hiring for a job be swayed by seeing a pony’s cutie mark and knowing how well they fit? is asking for ponies with ‘X-type cutie marks’ allowed? is cutie-mark-discrimination a thing? is it illegal? is it even frowned upon?? or is it justified as ‘you want someone who will be the best at this job’? are you required to cover your cutie mark in job interviews?
what about those whose cutie marks aren’t easily accessible? what if yours is a creative endeavour but you can’t afford to make a career out of something so fickle as writing or singing or acting? it takes time to build up notoriety/a portfolio to the point you can live off it, so are you forced to take other jobs in the meantime? or are there ‘cutie grants’ where you can apply for money to pursue your cutie mark?
in that episode with starlight glimmer we get an idea of the cultural attitudes towards not living as your cutie mark indicates you should live and work as your mark indicates, but then also you have things like prince blueblood whose cutie mark (and therefore his talent and purpose) is uhhhhh being a prince?? so is the concept of an absolute monarchy just baked in to this species’ genetics? blueblood doesn’t even rule!! what does he do? at least with bees the queen is the one giving birth to all the new bees!
what if someone’s cutie mark is just, fucking, idk, murdering other ponies?? like they get that cutie mark as a preteen-ish and… are they just locked up for the rest of their lives, as a precaution? is the nature of pony society honour bound to find a way for them to explore and fulfill their purpose in some manner? and if we refer back to the biological niche theory, what would this mean? is it a sign that this area is too densely populated and the local land cannot sustain its size?
i’m going to extremes here but like… the worldbuilding, guys. the implications.

Vent post.
Id put it behind a cut but I’m on mobile :/ also this is very ramble and not at all coherent but oh well.
I always have a bit of an issue with posts like this that are like “your trauma and how you react to it doesn’t make you a bad person” because. Uh. Cycles of abuse are a thing, you can absolutely do bad things out of trauma responses. You can absolutely be a shitty, hurtful person from a place of pain. (Staring at the entire state of Israel and its treatment of Palestine). Especially in the context of that post, which specifically mentions anger issues and addiction.
I’m not replying or reblogging said post because I truly don’t think that’s what op was going for, the greater point was “autism isn’t just sunshine and roses but can create real issues for people,” it’s just… an accidental unfortunate implication. But it’s late and I’m dealing with my own neuroatyoical issues flaring up atm so. Yelling about implications and the need for nuance and space for caretaker burnout on my own blog. Probably dealing with some buried trauma of my own.
(Also the USA healthcare system sucks for people who can’t easily take care of themselves, I dunno what it’s like outside the country but in here you need SO Much Money just to get barely adequate care for TBIs or Alzheimer’s or shit. )
There’s a little byplay in the notes that I think is important—someone says “I don’t have autism but I got secondhand trauma because my sibling does,” someone else responds “fuck you, of course allistic is making it all about them self” and a third person goes “hey it’s very common for the siblings of disabled people to be neglected in favor of the ‘squeaky wheel,’ I know it hurts to hear but disability hurts more than just the disabled person.” That plus some of the notes describing damage that autistic people have done (and largely regretted) to others… Disabled people can cause harm. That’s a thing!!! Being disabled does not make you blameless! Cool motive still murder!
And your disability can absolutely cause secondhand harm even if you don’t mean it to! My little sister no longer feels like the smaller sibling because my parents spend more emotional energy on me—and that’s a mild case, my disability only really began being an issue when we were both in college. It’s nothing compared to her friend, whose adult brother suffered a TBI and can’t live at home because it’s not safe to have a huge man around who can’t regulate his strength when he’s upset. It’s not at all his fault that he’s like this, but it’s a horrible situation and ALL involved should be able to say that it’s horrible.
I have done shitty things because of trauma responses, and I have worked really hard to create strategies to keep those shitty behaviors from happening again. I give myself—and others—a bit of a pass when a situation is truly uncontrollable. Or when someone is actively trying to ignore boundaries I’ve set to protect myself, but… that’s not the same as going “I have anger issues. Huh. Oh well! I will continue having destructive trauma responses and do nothing to mitigate it!”
I dunno. I’m sure some of this strong reaction of mine comes from being lashed out at by people in the midst of their own meltdowns, even though those have been more TBI related than autism related. Still. The meltdown was unavoidable but the ways they acted during were… hm. Not great.
At least stay away from vulnerable entities when you’re like this. My partner removes himself from the dog when he’s having a meltdown because the dog can provoke him into physically lashing out. (The dog has no idea, of course. The dog is very stupid and only barely understands what me crying means. ) He can’t control the meltdown happening but he can step away from things he could hurt. I really wish the people who hurt me had stepped away from the child I was.
I wish I’d gotten an apology, too. Like at least apologize for your shitty behavior, please!
(This whole “writing my own separate post and not tagging op” is one of those “hm. Am having Emotion. How to express it without causing pain to others” things I’ve tried to cultivate.)
If you don’t fucking MANAGE damage to others, others won’t want to be around you. If you hurt someone they are absolutely within their rights to set boundaries to protect themselves.
I dunno. I started at point A and I’m not sure where I went from there. Don’t be a dick I guess.

I can relate to bpd symptoms
When i was young i couldn't be consistent with my hobbies
And as i got older , i have bad anger issues , i sabotaged relationships and friendships and got over controlling and impulsive at times
I can go from over loving someone and putting them on a pedestal to feeling disgusted by their presence if they do a small mistake and it's not even their fault
I'm impulsive and cannot control my emotions
And i have harmed myself bcs i felt so guilty for hurting other people
Idk what to do cuz i cannot afford a therapist and idk how to get a diagnosis
Despite, my childhood was pretty normal ? Like i can't see any event that might have contributed to all this
My life started getting traumatic since i was 12/13 and bpd is mostly caused by what happened in your childhood ??
Idk what to do :(
Sorry about the rant
You never ever need to apologise for ranting, absolutely anyone is free to rant to me any time!
So for starters, writing these symptoms down helps a lot, being aware of triggers and things that set you off is an incredibly important part of coping, plus it gives an idea of symptoms you are facing if you do need to get a diagnosis.
Usually when it comes to complex diagnosis' they will ask if other people have experienced or seen these symptoms too because it gives another perspective on how they impact your life, so talking to someone else in person you trust about them will A help it get out of your system, B make them aware so that they can help and accommodate to you and C it will make diagnosis quicker and more simplistic.
If possible talk to another adult or someone within healthcare, it doesn't specifically need to be a specialised psychiatrist or psychologist because you can always be referred to one later on but I understand it can be expensive/scary.
But if you are going down the diagnosis route, don't expect a diagnosis to be made the first or even second session, it can take a while especially for personality disorders to be diagnosed because of the complicity and possible impact the diagnosis could have on you.
For the time being, if you can't get a diagnosis, definitely look at different methods and strategies to better cope with these thoughts and feelings and make people around you aware if you can that you need a little extra patience and support.
Symptoms impact everyone differently so not every coping strategy will work so keep looking.
If you are struggling or feeling this way at any point you can also always message me and I'll happily listen and help <3

I truly truly hate how initially some online communities were presented and did feel like a place to see people struggling in the same ways you were and feel less inhuman or othered for it, and how it's evolved into an obsession with diagnoses and proving on a list every single thing you have "wrong" with you and proving just how quirky and relatable you are because of it.
it can still be that first thing, but the second thing encroaches in on it. you can't just see what you're going through as an Experience, it needs to be sorted into traits and symptoms of something.
and I don't say this as someone who thinks psychology isn't real or people don't have these things- that's not what I'm saying. no, my point is, really:
A. this is the result of an attempt to sanitize and make mental illness more marketable- that whole idea of, this is what's holding you back, you'd be normal without this, this is why you're failing at capitalism! let's sell you things for your anxiety and depression and ADHD! go get em girlboss!
B. this other part, people don't do from ill intent, but it has resulted in people focusing a lot more on what the Name of whatever mental illness they have is and ensuring it's real and Verified, as opposed to focusing on how to make your day by day life a little easier. like that's the point of even seeing a therapist in my personal opinion. (And, yes, there are absolutely shit therapists and a million fucking problems in the system, but that's a different discussion.)
it doesn't mean you aren't mentally ill, it just means focusing on what you can do instead of What You Are, your identity. (Which I'm also not saying is totally unimportant.)
i just feel somehow the discussion on mental health and healthcare seems to start and end with diagnoses and prescriptions. People say go to therapy as an online insult and then when you do, nobody knows what to even expect, or what the purpose is.
it's strange, you're essentially asking yourself over and over, what is the work you have to put in to try to make your life more liveable? it's daunting. it's overwhelming at times. and I think that's the part that making it all relatable and funny and clean and cut and dry leaves out entirely, how messy recovering from or learning to live with it better can be.
and in general, in both therapy and beyond, some of the most human parts of any of these experiences are being sanded out, erased, because they're too "ugly" to make into either a palatable shareable meme or a marketable product. it's all work in cutting out the parts of mental illness others can't consume.
you need to become a clean, crisp line, something easy to see, marked by a defined identity. sort and group yourself nicely. sort and group your day by day experience nicely, orderly, tell me which personality trait came from what mental illness today, make a spreadsheet picking apart your own goddamn skull. you're not a person. you're made of your own suffering. a patchwork of cutouts from the fucking dsm, that's what you have to remind yourself of, that you have that broken head, and it's in everything you do, and you'll never escape it. you can't live with it, because it is you, it is your start and your end. if you got any better, well, you just wouldn't be you anymore.
this is not my most eloquently worded post. but also this is Tumblr dot com and I am just tired and frustrated. I'd appreciate it if you didn't send me hate mail about it.

Elderly Care: Recognizing and Preventing Dangerous UTIs
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common ailment that can affect individuals of any age. However, for older adults, UTIs can pose significant and often unexpected dangers. The symptoms and complications of UTIs in seniors are not only more severe but also more difficult to detect, leading to delayed treatment and increased health risks. Unlike younger individuals who might experience clear signs such as burning urination or frequent trips to the bathroom, older adults often exhibit atypical symptoms like confusion, agitation, or sudden changes in behaviour. To address these challenges, opting for a urinary tract infections online doctor consultation India can ensure timely diagnosis and effective treatment, especially for the elderly.
Interesting Facts about UTIs in Older Adults
Higher Risk of Sepsis: Older adults with UTIs are at a higher risk of developing sepsis, a life-threatening condition where the infection spreads to the bloodstream.
Increased Hospitalization Rates: UTIs are one of the leading causes of hospitalization for seniors, often due to delayed treatment.
Cognitive Impact: UTIs can cause sudden changes in behavior and cognitive function in older adults, sometimes mimicking dementia.
The Hidden Dangers of UTIs in Older Adults
Have you ever wondered why urinary tract infections (UTIs) seem more severe in older adults? It's a critical question that often goes unnoticed until it's too late. UTIs can pose serious health risks for seniors, leading to complications that might surprise you. Understanding these dangers is crucial for ensuring the well-being of your elderly loved ones. Older adults are particularly vulnerable to UTIs due to a variety of factors. As we age, our immune systems weaken, making it harder to fight off infections. This, combined with other age-related changes in the body, can lead to more frequent and severe UTIs.
What Makes UTIs So Dangerous for Older Adults?
UTIs in older adults can be particularly dangerous because they often go unnoticed until they cause serious health problems. Unlike younger individuals, who typically experience clear symptoms such as a burning sensation during urination, older adults may not show these common signs. Instead, they might exhibit confusion, increased agitation, or even unexpected falls. These atypical symptoms can make it challenging to identify a UTI promptly, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment. As a result, the risk of severe complications, such as kidney infections or sepsis, significantly increases, making early detection and intervention crucial for the health and well-being of older adults.
Why Immediate Action Is Crucial for Senior Health
Ensuring prompt treatment of UTIs in older adults can prevent serious health issues. Here are a few reasons why you should be vigilant:
Prevent Kidney Damage: Untreated UTIs can spread to the kidneys, causing permanent damage.
Avoid Hospital Stays: Early detection and treatment can reduce the need for hospitalisation.
Maintain Quality of Life: Proper management of UTIs can help maintain cognitive function and overall well-being.
Steps to Take: What to Do If You Suspect a UTI
If you suspect a UTI in an older adult, seek medical attention immediately. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to preventing serious complications. Regular check-ups, staying hydrated, and maintaining good hygiene practices are effective ways to prevent UTIs.
Consult a Healthcare Professional: If you notice any unusual symptoms, consult a healthcare provider without delay.
Stay Informed: Educate yourself and your loved ones about the signs and prevention of UTIs.
Promote Healthy Habits: Encourage hydration, proper hygiene, and regular medical visits to keep UTIs at bay.
Conclusion
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) pose a significant health risk for older adults, often presenting with atypical symptoms that can delay diagnosis and treatment. This delay can lead to serious complications, including kidney damage, sepsis, and cognitive decline. Understanding these risks and recognizing the early signs of UTIs in seniors is crucial for ensuring timely medical intervention.
By staying informed and vigilant, you can help protect your elderly loved ones from the dangers of UTIs. Encouraging hydration, practicing good hygiene, and ensuring regular medical check-ups are essential preventive measures.
FAQs about UTIs in Older Adults
Q1: Can dehydration cause UTIs?
A1: Yes, dehydration can lead to concentrated urine, which increases the risk of bacterial growth and UTIs.
Q2: Are there any dietary changes that can help prevent UTIs?
A2: Drinking plenty of water and consuming foods rich in Vitamin C can help reduce the risk of UTIs.
Q3: Is it common for UTIs to recur in older adults?
A3:Yes, recurrent UTIs are common in older adults, often due to underlying health conditions or decreased immune function. Utilizing a 24/7 online doctor consultation India can help manage and monitor these recurrent infections effectively, providing timely medical advice and treatment.

i decided to pay for linkedin premium since i thought it would help my chances of getting a job but it's really not helping. i keep seeing different posts from people, not just on linkedin but pretty much every social platform talking about how hard it is to find a job. and the amount of times i've gone out for food and the person before me is asking if they are hiring.
i'm still watching the bear season 3 but napkins... i cried. tina's struggle was so real and i was sobbing. and the coldness you encounter during the entire experience. it's so rare to feel like you are getting anywhere.
i've generally just been depressed about the world.
america and it's government for one. it's hard to watch. i think it's even harder to watch the vote blue no matter who crowd. i used to be a staunch believer in being an active participant in voting but ever since i saw that comment that was like "they encourage you to go through their systems for change so that you are stopped in the system" (not exactly but you get the gist) made me rethink it. why bother voting for the change we need when no one is bringing it to the table? it's hard to watch someone BEG for "vote blue!! vote BLUE!!" when active genocide and disenfranchisement has been happening under blue. like.. on god... are you dumb? blue or red you are FUCKED.
i love taking the opportunity to criticize the american government so it's hard to listen to people reinforce the system. voting isn't even equal!!!!! should've been your first clue that it's all fucked up!!!
maybe controversial, but we should start killing people. i wish death upon my premier. may his dumbass choke and fall down several flights of stairs.
i'm so serious tho. it's liberal brain rot to think we can hold hands and peacefully reach a "proper solution" to any issue. we need to start throwing bricks
OMG and the supreme court!!! kill them fuckers too!! everyone is so old and lame, i'm convinced if a firework blew up next to them they would go into cardiac arrest. honestly that goes for all of them, presidential candidates, government employees. all old asses need to GO. yes i am being ageist on this one. no i do not care, get them to do a cognitive function test before they get to work.
i hate it in canada too. and it's so fucked bc the problems just keep compounding and no politician is for the people. pretty much every politician is either a landlord or related to a developer so the housing crisis will never get fixed. and every monopoly insists of making life unbearable here. why was my phone bill $63? because they can. groceries? so expensive. and public transit is dogshit. and they are taking away culture centres too.
i expressed wanting to move away. my shortlist is spain, portugal, the netherlands or brazil
brazil seems to be controversial anytime i talk about it but it feels like people don't think south americans are people sometimes. "so much crime, corruption, it's dangerous, you can't trust".... i have to wait 3 years for 750m of road to be repaired. cops are always just lounging at construction sites. there are way too many charities and foundations set up by billionaires for tax write offs. assaults on transit are so much more frequent. healthcare is getting less and less funding people need to pay for services. kids are stupid as hell because education is also underfunded. mass immigration is burdening social services because we don't have enough resources to accommodate these people AND immigrants who are mostly international students are being targeted by universities and colleges so they can charge ridiculous tuition and leave them with no support. so as if it's really any better here.
and yet, when i talk about wanting to leave, everyone has an opinion. "oh it's not really that great there, it's over hyped" "it's still expensive to live there" "you won't have anyone" pls. i barely have anyone HERE.
i don't feel supported on decisions i want to make for myself. they are selfish wants so yeah i get it, but i don't care. i want it for me!!!! i am miserable!!! my mental health is in the gutter and the more time i'm subjected to living at home, the worse it gets. i'm drowning and people keep high fiving me instead of throwing a life support.
and more than anything, the lack of support makes me doubt my ability to do anything. maybe i'm not capable of finding a better job? maybe i'm not even deserving of better? is this just my burden to bare? will i never escape?
it makes me wish i was dead instead. rather be dead than live through all this. not even a glimmer of hope. there is not light at the end of the tunnel. i rather be dead than have to live all these years just for the pay off to come when i'm 50 or something. that's 20 more years of pain? no thanks.
all this to say, i know im not alone on this. many people are in my scenario. they are probably handling it better than i am. i'm not good at this - i'm not patient, and clearly not optimistic. i feel like i'm reaching the end of my rope.
