how it would have changed the kind of person he became, how much worse the parentification would have been. how much more of a scumbag it would have made his father. if he had custody or if he lost them to the system or to family he barely knew (whenever i think about this sort of au i always think of the first, maybe because the latter two are just Too Real). do you ever think about it. i do.

AU - Season 1 Alianna

Background:

Alianna’s Story begins at the end of Season 3 with her and Hotch getting together about halfway through Season 5. That’s when her first case with the team is. This AU is if Alianna had been there since Season 1.

Headcanons:

Alianna had joined the team about three months before Elle.

Morgan is the person she’s closest too, though she is friends with Reid and JJ

She has a small attraction to Hotch, but never allows herself to dwell on those feelings since he is married

Morgan knows but won’t bring it up because it’s the one thing Alianna hates being brought up

Diana and Marcus, her older siblings, don’t really understand her job.

Diana is a defense attorney and Marcus is the chef at some fancy restaurant

When Elle joins the team she immediately hits it off with Alianna

They bond over being female field agents in a male dominated environment

Alianna specializes in religion and religious motives, but she often feels useless when compared to the rest of her team

Morgan and Elle are her bigger hype people though, not even letting her get out a single self deprecating thought

When Hotch and Haley separate, Alianna doesn’t make any moves on him despite her growing feelings for him

She does however, lend him a person to vent to when needed and won’t push him to talk

This causes the two of them to get closer, much to the surprise of most of the team

In this AU, They get together about the end of Season 3, before the season finale

They break up after Haley dies because of a mixture of Alianna being scared of not living up to Haley and Hotch feeling guilty for even thinking of another woman so soon after his and Haley’s divorce

Prentiss and JJ are there for her after the breakup and this is actually the time that Chloe joins the team

Morgan and Alianna talk a lot after the breakup, but mostly because they’re trying to get Reid and Chloe together

Hotch gets jealous and jumps to conclusions, confronting Alianna at work about it

She tells him off saying that, “Even if I was sleeping with Morgan, which I’m not, who I am or am not sleeping with is no longer any of your business... you decided that yourself when you broke up with me, So back off, Hotchner.”

Everyone in the bullpen heard her

She realized this and ran away to cool off

Prentiss wanted to follow her, but Morgan wouldn’t let her

It was clear to them that was still some underlying tension between Alianna and their unit chief

Moving Forward:

Alianna and Hotch get back together when they find solace in each other after Prentiss’s “death”

Alianna was hesitant to get back into a relationship with him, but did anyway with the promise that they would take it slow

Which they did

Their relationship this time is built on trust and communication, something that was missing when they dated for the first time

Eventually Hotch proposes to her

She says yes, of course, and they get married about 9 months later

After their honeymoon they discover that Alianna is pregnant with a daughter

They name her Diane Emily Snyder-Hotchner

After Alianna’s sister and best friend

Speaking of children, Jack absolutely adored Alianna

He calls her “Liana” and loves having her around

Alianna always feels like she’s overstepping, she doesn’t want to replace Haley

Hotch reassures her and she becomes more comfortable with Jack

Diane adores her older brother, even if he is 7-8 years older than her

Alianna retires to stay at home with the kids, but she stays close with the team

She’s still invited to girls night when she can make it and to team nights out at the bar

But Alianna is finally satisfied with her life, being a mother and knowing she’s helped people (even if that comes with the issues she had to work through, she had always said she could work through anything if it meant she was helping others)

Ooooh a v interesting question, I was really hoping for this one!!

48: Would society consider your OC a good guy, or a bad guy? What would they say they are?

Axel: Not exactly a bad guy, perhaps, but the general population wouldn't like him. Axel is a genius, (think Spencer Reid-type smarts, but considerably more spiteful), and he's only 23 years old. He knows that, in and of itself, annoys people, and he lashes back when he's being patronized because he's "too young to really know". On top of that Axel is VERY visibly queer and feminine, and vocally against a lot of things that tend to make people foam at the mouth. Because he's a PI, he's often forced to work with the NYPD and usually acts as a consultant, but he makes no secret of how much he utterly despises 99% of cops, and he will go behind their backs every chance he gets. The NYPD isn't just being upstaged by a nearly-teenage makeup-wearing bisexual twink, they're being upstaged by a nearly-teenage makeup-wearing bisexual twink that very vocally hates and/or despises them and tends to solve the cases he's given entirely on his own before presenting them with the culprit... or not. Because that's another thing: Axel has, more than once, covered up for someone who was technically guilty of a crime because he found it justifiable, or taken it upon himself to make sure someone who wasn't going to be convicted in several million years got just retribution.

Victoria: Society would say she's good, that she's the victim of a terrible tragedy. Those who know what really happened would think she's a victim, or that she was naive and blind to her father's crimes. Those who only know the public version would see a 13 year old grieving her sister and her father. But that doesn't mean it's true. Nobody, not even her twin, is aware that she was well on her way to becoming her father, and that she'd nonchalantly sacrificed everyone she'd come across to avoid becoming her father's victim. She was the one who tattled on her older sister when she tried to run away from the abuse, and the only reason she hasn't gone and told everyone that said sister was their father's killer is to prevent the scandal. Out of the four siblings, she is the one who looks least like their father, but mentally she's the one who resembles him most.

Danielle: this one's not from the same story as Axel and Victoria. She's a HP oc that I included in a rewrite I'm doing. Generally? They would most likely consider her a bad guy. She's a Slytherin through and through, and she isn't scared to treat rules or even laws as "more like guidelines". She can lie and cheat like the best of them, and is often sly and underhanded. Most people who don't care to see how cunning and ambition can be positive traits think that she HAS to be bad because she's a Slytherin and proud of it. She also isn't afraid to resort to desperate measures in desperate times and tries to get through everyone's thick skull that this isn't a duel, it isn't a game, it's a war, and sometimes you have to kill, and sometimes you have to be ready to play really dirty because the others will. That shield charms and body-binds are going to do jack shit against people who shoot to kill or maim. She's also killed two people (one on accident, and the other on purpose) by the time she's 16. People fear and mistrust her despite all the effort she puts into denouncing and fighting against the dark side of her House and of the Wizarding World, because of who she is and what she's able to do. She's also probably louder than is wise about how much she doesn't like Albus Dumbledore, whom she sees for who she is, so that's yet another problem.

As for your other question, most of those OCs are from my original novel, a couple are added to a very long fic I'm writing, three are from an AU I really should go back to writing, and Danielle like I said is from my HP rewrite. They don’t imagine the SCREAMS as their friends are cleaved in half. They don’t picture their Prince Charming with a MURDEROUS grin on their face. Unfortunately, life is LESS like a romantic COMEDY, and much more like the HORROR stories we all pretend to not be AFRAID of. HARPER’S ISLAND, located an hour from Seattle’s coast, is the destination for one of these happy unions. There will be a second arrival of muses, and POTENTIALLY, a new murderer. There is already a current murderer. New additions will be ‘late arrivals’ to the wedding week.

In this group verse, your character will either be a part of the wedding party (as family of the groom/bride or friend of the groom/bride) or one of the locals. As an added bonus, you may audition for the secret role of the new serial killer as well. The identity of the serial killer will only be known by the killer themselves and me, the admin of the group. Together, we will make decisions on which character to kill off next. Please note this means your muse may (and is likely to) die. I will always contact the next victim and ask them to post a drabble of their death. After their death, I will reveal the identity of the killer so that they can smugly follow the rest of the plot.

Events will be posted, and though they will not ‘officially’ be held, interactions based on them are highly encouraged. This could for example be a bonfire, a rehearsal dinner, a picnic, a bachelor/bachelorette party, etc. It is not a new day until I have made the announcement; this is because a lot of things can happen in one day when people are dying like flies, and to make sure everyone has had the chance to interact based on the latest event/twist/death. A/N: BIG WARNING; August Reid, who you may remember from the main story, child groom tw, though nothing comes of it he's still creepy and predatory. Okay so I just wanted to write a little something from Oscar's perspective in the High School AU. Let me know what you think!!

Oscar's always been a romantic at heart, always wanted to be the star of his own Mills and Boone novel ever since he was sixteen and found his mother's stash while hunting for Christmas presents. It had been painfully straight, right when he'd been discovering the delightful world of loving men, but he was invested enough in the romance that he didn't care.

In 2017, at the tender age of 19, he discovers the author Chuck Tingle, and despite the fact that he's technically now a literature student, this ridiculous, gay erotica makes his heart happy in ways he can't quite articulate.

The point is, he knows August Reid, because he's his dad's drinking buddy and fellow professor, but Oscar doesn't think of him much until he takes the man's class. Ash, who's fifteen and who spends weekends at the local art gallery down the road, has always been far more artistically minded, Oscar's always been more drawn to words, but he takes August's Art History class on a whim.

There's a certain draw to the whole teacher/student fantasy, and August looks kind of like an older Richard Madden, still angular and defined, but greying at the temples, the prelude to an extraordinary silver fox. So Oscar let's himself daydream, and take the follow up class, and look forward to the weekends where his dad's friends would come over to smoke cigars and play cards. August Reid was nothing if not polite, always smiling and kind and happy to see Oscar, answer his questions. Oscar knew he was married, thinks he probably has a kid, and so he was happy to keep his daydreams to himself. He thinks there's something romantic about quietly unrequited love.

However, it takes a year, once Ash has matured more, not a lot, but enough to catch August's interest, for the rose-coloured glasses to be ripped off. August takes an interest in her; when he and the rest of their father's colleagues came over, he would make a point to stop and check in with Ash, encourage her interest in Art, both physical and theoretical, and even suggest research for her, or upcoming exhibits he thought she might like. It's harmless, at first.

Talk of art turns to compliments, her taste in things, her outfits, how she wears her hair, the colour of her eyes. Ash seems to start looking forward to his visits, and something about it doesn't sit right with Oscar.

"He's just, Oz he's so cool," she was smiling, blushing a little; she had a crush, it was plain as the nose on her face, "and he said he could get us tickets to the Renaissance exhibit in Glasgow next month, how awesome is that?"

August starts calling her Miss Ashley, a joke that started since she still had a habit of calling him Mr Reid - because she's a fucking highschooler, it's how she's been taught to address teachers - Ash delights in it, straightens her posture a little when he says it. August makes a habit of petting her head fondly when she does. It makes Oscar's stomach turn just a little. August shouldn't be looking at his little sister like that, she's just a child.

Their father seems blind to it, tells Oscar 'don't be ridiculous, he's just being kind' and when he goes to mum, she just brushes him off, insisting that August is lovely, that he's so in love with his wife, and that Ash is just excited to have someone who understood her.

"A little schoolgirl crush is harmless, Oscar, dear; weren't you singing his praises not too long ago?" It's meant with a wink and a nudge, like perhaps Oscar's jealous, but his mother can be so dense; it's not the same at all. He's an adult, and Ash is a child, and yet he's not the one August is giving leering looks to when he thinks no-one's looking.

It's not that their parents don't love them, it's just that they don't particularly care. They're trapped in a loveless marriage, too self absorbed to care about those that can take care of themselves.

So Oscar takes it upon himself.

Oscar's never understood art like he's understood literature, never been able to make it make sense in the same way, but that doesn't matter. The point is, on Sundays, when his father's colleagues come over for tea and cigars and cards, Oscar's started taking Ash to art galleries across the country.

"But August is-"

"It's the impressionists, Ash," Oscar takes her hand with a grin, practically begging her, "come on they have the Water Lilies," he enthuses, and Ash's expression softens.

"I do love the Water Lilies."

Because he can't tell her what he's really doing, because she's sixteen and thinks she knows everything and the idea of telling her that August has any sort of feelings towards her, even if he explains why that's creepy and wrong, is probably the worst thing he can do to discourage her. So he distracts her, and is careful to never mention him if he can help it, or steer the conversation away if she brings him up.

She's his best friend. She's always been his best friend, but in an abstract, sibling sort of way, but it doesn't take long for the two of them to become legitimate best friends. He listens to all the drama of her highschool career, and her ideas for sculptures, and anything else she wants to talk about, and in turn he tells her about whatever he's reading that week, whatever poetry ideas he's been riffing with lately, and complains about pretty straight boys in his lectures.

Oscar may be a poet, but neither he nor Ash could hold a tune to save their lives, and so of course they sing along to Ash's Spotify playlists at the top of their lungs whenever they're driving. There's three weeks where she plays the Hamilton cast recording on repeat, and Oscar finds himself muttering it under his breath in class.

He works nights, and Saturdays, to afford all these day trips, and his family think he's so diligent, studying and working so hard, and on his day off he spends it with Ash. He keeps local for a few weeks, a few months actually, and surprises her with a trip to the West End for Christmas.

She talks about August less and less as time goes on. Though she does ask about it, in a roundabout way.

"Why're you spending so much time with me?"

They're having lunch in the park across from a gallery somewhere in Ireland. Oscar packed jam sandwiches.

"I don't understand this art shit like you do, but it's good to find inspiration from all mediums, you know?" Oscar smiles, takes a big bite of his sandwich, and watches Ash wrinkle her nose.

"You sound so pretentious," she snorted, shaking her head, "but whatever, I'm not gonna complain, you're the one paying."

"And I like spending time with you, biscuit." His voice turned overly sappy, as did his grin, "I love you." Oscar reached out and ruffled her hair, and Ash squawked, batting his hand away.

"I love you too, ya muppet, but if you wanna hang out we can just do something lowkey, or like, close to home."

She takes him at his word, which is good because he's being honest, but she seems content with their routine. Sometimes they go bowling, or to the library, sometimes they go op shopping, or to the movies, but they never miss a week.

She's his cheerleader at poetry readings, his tour guide at art galleries, and his favourite person at all times. His father's a literature professor who stopped truly engaging with her about her love of art once he stopped understanding her, and his mother was a Type A accountant who was just disappointed she wasn't interested in something employable. So Oscar was her cheerleader at art competitors, her enthusiastic student at art galleries, and ends up being her best friend and quietly, her favourite family member.

August asks about her, according to their father, but Ash's brief infatuation with him seems to have died down.

"Do you have a problem with me, Oscar?" August asks almost a month after Oscar's started spending Sundays with Ash, and maybe their father's told August what's happening, maybe he's noticed Oscar glaring at him whenever he saw the professor, but either way, he's so painfully kind when he asks that it's a dead giveaway; August knows something's wrong.

"Stay the fuck away from my sister," Oscar, kind-faced, bright eyed Oscar, snarls. He's 6'3" and never more thankful for his height as he towers over August.

"I'm simply showing an interest in her, she's an art enthusiast, I'm an art professor, don't worry-"

"I don't give a shit; look like the innocent flower but be the fucking serpent under it, right?"

"I don't understand what you mean? Does your father know you feel this way? Does Ash?" And it doesn't sound like a threat, it sounds like a very genuine question, but Oscar wants nothing more than to punch him in his stupid, angular nose.

"Does your wife know you spend weekends ogling underage girls?" Oscar fires back, and August's expression sours considerably, his mouth closed in a tight, humourless line. "Yeah, dad knows, not that he gives a shit," Oscar sneered, "but if you go near my sixteen year old sister again, you smarmy creepy -" his voice dropped very low, expression dark, his hands balling into fists by his side.

"If your father's not bothered by it I don't see why you should be, I haven't done anything wrong, but you're throwing around some serious implications here," August gives a blithe smile, "Ash is an incredible young woman I'm simply encouraging her passion."

"August Reid, I need you to know that I'm not threatening you," Oscar said calmly, "I'm promising you; I'll fucking kill you."

And maybe he doesn't believe Oscar would legitimately harm him, but he sees it's not a fight he's going to win. August leaves Ash well enough alone after that.

At the start of their Summer break, before Ash is due to start her second last year of high school, their father gets a job in England, their mother gets an excuse to leave her loveless marriage, and Ash and Oscar get a choice. Oscar knows without even having to ask that Ash will stick with him. He also knows that in two years, if she's still here, she'll end up studying under August and his father's other creepily complicit friends. Oscar's playing the long game to keep his sister safe when he announces he'll be going to England with their dad.

He lies, says he doesn't mind transferring courses and maybe retaking some classes at this new university, makes sure he's nothing but positive when he talks about the move, and Ash, add expected, joins him. It hurts to leave the life he's building himself, but he knows it's what's best for Ash.

Adjusting to a new life is difficult, and some weeks they don't end up spending Sunday together. Oscar let's himself relax, takes time for himself, and starts to build new relationships, new connections in this new situation he's found himself in.

Here, he didn't have to worry about Ash so much. She was still his best friend, but now she could just be a teenager without a creepy professor leering at her and grooming her. Though quietly, Oscar was just glad she still wanted to spend time with him; she still goes to his poetry readings, still wants to go on day trips with him, and she's starting to get to know his new friends little by little.

Meeting Freddie is like getting hit by a freight train; they're both taking a Creative Industries subject as an elective, and they get partnered together. Freddie is intense and warm in equal measure, a lover of cats judging by the pins on his bag, he's always drawing or doodling something on his notebook, and he writes songs. Oscar adores him from the moment he meets him. He's always busy, always on the move or at band practice, but he seems to like Oscar well enough, so the two of them start having lunch together a few times a week.

Freddie thinks Oscar's selfless when he learns about everything that had happened back in Scotland.

"Picking up and moving your whole life just to make sure she's safe," Freddie shakes his head, "you're a Saint, you know that?"

"She's my sister, I couldn't not do it," Oscar laughs a little self consciously, but Freddie just seemed endeared.

They're messaging almost every day. Freddie sends draft song lyrics and selfies with his cats and Oscar will send bits of poems and shitty angled selfies or photos taken by Ash. They both live busy lives, but they keep up with each other without even trying.

He's so caught up in his new life and his new friends, and Ash seems so happy with her new school, especially their art program, that it takes Oscar a while to realise how painfully lonely Ash was. She's always been introverted, always focused more on her projects than on the people around her, but when Oscar realises that person she talks most about is her physics tutor, it hits him that she doesn't actually have any friends her own age here. She likes his friends well enough, one even got her a fake ID if she might ever need it, but she had none of her own.

"How was school?" They've been here for about three months, and finally things have maybe started to look up.

"Fine; we're starting sculpture making in art," Ash said offhandedly, rolling her eyes; she already spent time outside of school making sculptures, the idea of being graded on it now seemed trivial, "this one dumbass spent like twenty minutes negotiating with a teacher about whether he can also make a second sculpture for fun." Ash's voice was flat, unimpressed.

"Sounds like someone you'd get along with-"

"He wants to make a dick."

Dick Sculpture Guy turns to Fucking Roger, and Oscar starts to hear more about him, because Roger's always seemingly causing a scene and Ash is endlessly annoyed with him, though she once let it slip that she thinks he's rather hot, and Oscar, though he's never brought it up, will never forget it.

Until he gets a call on Friday afternoon, from Ash, in tears, asking him to come to the school.

She's surrounded by the pieces of her broken major work when he arrives, and there's a tall, dark haired guy checking up on her. This is Brian, the tutor he's heard so much about. He's thankful, but comforting Ash is his first priority.

Brian leaves, and together the siblings piece together her work. The school gets locked at five, and they're there until the very last minutes. Once the bust is sitting up on one of the desks at the edge of the room, Ash sniffles only a little bit.

"I'll paint the cracks gold."

"Kintsugi," Oscar adds, nodding sagely and Ash actually beams at him, "see, I listen to you, biscuit."

He suggests they go to Freddie's gig to take her mind off of it, though it's also because she's been asking to meet Freddie for a while now, but he's always been busy. However, things don't go as planned when not only is Ash's tutor part of the band, but Fucking Roger is too. Fucking Roger who's sculpture exploding made Ash cry.

Ash is adamant she's going to kill him. Oscar doesn't stop her. She disappears around the end of the bar after Roger, while the rest of the band - Freddie, Brian, and some kid called John - hang back.

Ash decidedly doesn't kill Roger, and actually ends up enjoying her night, which Oscar's glad for. That being said, he's a little bit distracted; he's quickly discovering that Brian might be the loveliest person he'd ever met. Brian's an astrophysics student, a guitarist, a tutor, and he took the time to check up on Ash; Oscar hasn't been seriously romantically interested in anyone since high school, and he's only met Brian today, but damn if there wasn't definitely a crush forming.

They play good music, and Ash seems to have a good time, and he tells himself that that's all that matters.

Days go by, weeks go by, the siblings keep going to Queen's gig's, and Fucking Roger turns to just Roger. Oscar messages Brian and Freddie that Ash might have a crush and Freddie sends back a wheezed voice message saying that Roger probably does too, but that he's stubborn as hell and would never be the first to admit it. Something warms in Oscar's heart at that. Slowly but surely, between Roger and John, Ash is finally making friends her own age.

Ash deserves a normal-ish crush on a normal-ish boy, and Oscar will do anything to encourage that crush. So they go to gigs, and Oscar wiggles his eyebrows at her when Roger's got an arm around her between sets, and Ash turns as red as her hair. But Brian's got a hand on his thigh where they're sitting near the door, and it feels weirdly normal, and kind of the best.

To see Ash smiling and happy, everything was worth it. It's all worked out, though he knows he'll never stop worrying about her, not that he'd want to.

So, they named her Chickadee “‘cause she’s a chick.” But if anyone asked why, it was because “'he’ has a beautiful singing voice, like a bird.” Real name: Elizabeth Sanford Age: 16 Sexuality: Heterosexual Face Claim/Outfit: x Personality: fun-loving, scrappy, sarcastic, guarded, flirtatious, loyal, compassionate, will do what it takes to survive, has trust issues, and is still dealing with a great amount of grief  Hobbies: whittling, flirting, singing, and watching sunrises  Background: Her mother died in childbirth along with the baby when she was four. Her father died in an accident at the lumber mill where he worked when she was six. Her older brother Sal was all she had left. He got them both jobs as newsies so that he could keep an eye on her and so she didn’t have to work at a factory like a lot of other little orphan girls. When she was thirteen, her brother got a well-paying job and was going to move them into a small apartment and send her to school, but he caught pneumonia before he could. His death all but destroyed her. She became shut off and never let anyone help her. She never truly dealt with her grief. Shortly after his death, she left Richmond and began selling papes in other boroughs, never staying anywhere for too long. She learned how to survive on her own and convinced herself that she’s better off that way. She did, however, run into her old friends at the strike rally after not seeing them for about three years and will now occasionally visit the newsboys of Richmond.

Everything in his parents estate had to be sold and auctioned off to cover any remaining expenses or debts. Alone and destitute, he then joined the newsies to cover his cost of living.

So, in desperation, his father tried to rob a bank in an attempt to save her life. Unfortunately, he was caught and is currently serving 10 to 12 in the pen. The judge, however, was very merciful and took pity and allowed him a supervised visit to his wife before she died. Pockets has been in the care of the newsies ever since. He gets to visit his dad in prison every couple of months. He got caught stealing himself about four months before the strike and got sent to the Refuge. He stayed there until Governor Roosevelt shut it down and freed him. He still occasionally gets nightmares about it.

Newsie name: Poe Reason for name: he’s a writer and a poet like “that Edgar Allen Poe guy” Real name: Andrew “Andy” Reid  Age: 15 Sexuality: Heterosexual Face Claim/Outfit: x Personality: sensitive, quiet, shy, kind, very creative and quick witted, can be quite sassy, a true romantic at heart Hobbies: writing, reading, playing with every dog that walks by, sewing, and secretly dancing Background: His father died from an unknown illness when was a toddler and he was raised by his loving mother. She had a very kind heart and a love for stories. She would read to him every night and allowed for his imagination to flourish. She worked as a seamstress and would often take him to sit in the back room of the dress shop as she worked. He learned how to sew while he was there, but most of the time he would sit and read. There was nothing particularly special about his time spent there, but looking back it was some of his favorite times spent with his mother. She eventually took ill and succumbed to the illness. He became homeless for a couple of months afterwards, but was soon found by one of the newsies and taken in by his new family.

His name was Theodore and he was the sweetest thing. They dated in secret because he was a black boy in the deeply racist 19th century south. Her family owned slave lest than forty years prior, so she knew they would never approve. They kept telling themselves that nothing could happen between them because it was too dangerous, but their love for each other grew and they couldn’t stay away. So they kept their affair a secret for several months until her little sister saw her sneaking out one night and followed her. She caught her sister spying and made her swear never to tell. But the next day her little sister came to her crying and apologize profusely for accidentally telling. Dixie raced to the stables to find her father beating the crap out of Teddy and when she tried to stop him, he knocked her out with a single blow. When she came to, he was in the process of trying to hang Teddy in a nearby tree. She quickly found a shovel and knocked her father out. She helped Teddy out of the rope and stole the family horse. She rode with Teddy as far north as she could before stopping to find a doctor. She traded the horse for his services and when Teddy was almost fully recovered they hitched a ride in a wagon even further north. They then made a life with each other in a small apartment doing odd jobs. But neither one of them fully dealt with the horrors of that day and there was a great divide between them. Eventually, along with other smaller issues, they decided that they couldn’t do this anymore. As much as they tried, they couldn’t look at each other without seeing the scene replay in their heads. So they sat down and said their goodbyes. They promised that they would always love each other in some way and that they would keep in touch. Teddy moved to a small northern farming town and Dixie moved to Richmond where she became a newsie.

Newsie name: Tommy Reason for name: n/a Real name: Thomas Russo Age: 22 Sexuality: Bisexual Face Claim/Outfit: x Personality: strong, confident, knows how to have a good time, knows when it’s time to be serious, funny, sweet, comforting, romantic, a proud Italian   Hobbies: poker, playing pranks, dancing, cooking Background: He never knew what happened to his mother; it had always just been his dad and him. Most days he felt like he and his father reversed roles, as he was always taking care of his alcoholic father. He became a newsie at a young age as he had to provide for the both of them, his father being unable to work. He’d sell newspapers every morning and then every afternoon he would pick his father up at the pub and attempt to get him home without a fight. He grew tired of this way of living and was almost relieved every time his father went to jail (for various crimes). Through the years he rose up in rank until he became the leader of the Richmond newsies, a feat he was justly proud of. He has had less and less contact with his father throughout the years, he much prefers to focus on his true family, the newsies. After “retiring” from selling, he moved to Manhattan and began working at a bank and fell in love with a colleague’s daughter, who he is now engaged to.

The last thing he wanted was for her to get hurt or worse like their father did. As they grew up, he strived to give her the most normal childhood that he could. He was both parent and teacher to her as well as brother. He adored her and would do anything to make sure she was strong, healthy, and happy. When he was 19, he got a well-paying job and was going to get them a small apartment and would finally be able to send her to school. Knowing that there was a better life ahead of them, he had been the happiest he had been in a long time. His dreams for the future were dashed, however, when he caught pneumonia and died surrounded by his loved ones.

An age and a half ago, @tavsancuk tagged me in a 10 characters in 10 fandoms meme.  I am finally filling it.  I have laid myself some ground rules.  I will choose and present to you, in no particular order, my ten favorite male characters.  I will also include explanations for my picks.  I am strongly considering doing a mirror post with my ten favorite female characters with explanations.  Also, some of them are coming with fic recs.  Sorry not sorry.  Most of those recs will route you to FFN.  That, I am a little sorry about.  Since this is explanation heavy, I’ll put it under a read more.

Finn (Star Wars) This fabulous man turns his back on everything he has ever been taught because he realized it was wrong.  He broke more than a decade’s worth of programming to free Poe Dameron, and then he went back for Rey despite his fear of the First Order.  That takes serious guts, and I have so much respect for his character.

Jess Mariano (Gilmore Girls) Jess grew so much over the course of the series.  We did not get to see most of it happening, but he went from a really messed up, angry at the world teenager to a well-adjusted and very successful adult (based on what we’ve seen).  Also, though he and Rory had their issues as a couple, he was the only one of her boyfriends who she did not feel the need to change for.

Of Books and Music by once-was-serendipity.  Instead of cutting off all contact with Rory when he left in season 3, Jess sent books with his margin-notes to Rory.  We see him deal with all of his shit. Pay the Piper by Iscah McKrae.  Immediately after Rory’s disastrous visit to Philadelphia, Shane contacts Jess to tell him they have a daughter who she wants not part of.  Jess winds up taking full custody.  Incomplete. Truths Universally Acknowledged by 12cubed.  A Jane Austen report assigned by Mr. Medina spirals out of control as Taylor announces a Jane Austen festival.  Season 2 style Rory/Jess pining. Tide and Moon by once-was-serendipity.  Jess and Rory’s relationship over seasons 2 and 3 plays out a bit differently.  Mostly, Jess get’s his shit together earlier.  Incomplete.

Zuko (Avatar the Last Airbender) Over the course of the series, Zuko realized that his father was evil and everything he had been taught (by someone not-Uncle-Iroh) was either a lie or immoral.  Once he finished being in denial about it, he took action, ultimately changing sides and working to atone for the wrong he had done when he still believed in his father.

Embers by Vathara.  At the beginning of season 2, Zuko discovers the secret of healing fire, and then things get super AU, super fast.  Lots of worldbuilding, and I swear to god this author’s a goddess.  Has been described as “Atla in the style of Game of Thrones, minus the sex” Mismatched by Kimberly T. In season 1, Zuko discovers an Earth Kingdom baby with mismatched eyes.  Because local superstition claims the baby is a witch-child and bad luck because of it, Zuko adopts him.  This speeds his realization that everything he knows is wrong by quite a bit. Incomplete. Second Nature by lazyartisan.  At the end of season 1, Zuko is captured at the North Pole.  Angst ensues.  Essentially, the author upped the stakes and ignored the “kids show” genre.  Incomplete-ish.  The author told the story she wanted to tell, but ends the story at the end of season 2 rather than resolving everything.  She may eventually update again, she may not. Another Brother by AvocadoLove.  Zuko was scarred much younger than in canon and is found by Chief Hakoda almost dead on a Fire Navy ship.  Hakoda takes him in, and he is raised in the Southern Water Tribe alongside Sokka and Katara.

Steve Rogers (MCU) Steve Rogers’ moral compass is so on point it’s honestly terrifying.  His entire morality basically boils down to “I don’t like bullies or trust the people in power not to be bullies,” and honestly that’s the kind of role model we all could use.  He is uncompromising, but he’s right with an alarming consistency.  And he’s genuine, which warms the cockles of my own way-too-honest heart.  (It should, perhaps, be noted that this is why Benjamin Tallmadge is my favorite Turn character and that these traits are reflected in one of my most formative female characters, Keladry of Mindelen.)

Serenade by CSI Clue. Happy fic.  Steve gets a girlfriend and everything is adorable. Choice is Not a Word a Bullet Knows series by bomberqueen17.  Winter Soldier followup, so much poly capfam, at least one really awesome OC. A Pretty Boy with a Bird Tattoo by Kryptaria and rayvanfox.  Steve/Bucky/Nat OT3, punk college AU.  My favorite of their collaborative works (because Nat), but their other stuff (stucky, all of it) is super awesome too.  Source Code by Closer.  Steve is tired of everyone thinking he’s a robot clone or whatever the conspiracy theory of the week is. Freezer Burn series by Domenika Marzione.  Comics/MCU mashup that follows a different Avenger in each of the major stories. Freezer Burn follows Steve, Thaw follows Clint, Revenant follows Nat.

Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds) Spencer Reid gets put through such shit by the Criminal Minds writers (and the fandom, honestly.  We love to watch him suffer), but he continues to be dedicated to justice and peaceful solutions.  In addition, he is one of the biggest nerds and genius’ on TV, and is generally way less obnoxious and improbable about it than others of his type.  It should be noted that I am not up to date on this show, having missed almost every episode that aired while I was at University, and that I am refusing to watch the current Reid-in-prison-without-his-memory arc.  Because that was a bridge too far.

Foxtrot Whiskey Bravo by Kuria Dalmatia.  Reid and Elle have a friends with benefits relationship.  Very unangsty for my possible Reid picks. The Comstock King’s Daughter by TheKnittingLady.  Reid/OC.  Reid and his date get kidnapped by an Unsub, things go better than they could.  The least depressing/angsty story by this author, the story by this author requiring the fewest content/trigger warnings.  This author is *very* good, but her work is pretty messed up.  Writes almost exclusively Reid-centrics, usually Reid/OC. Liar by Addicted Archangel.  Reid is imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.  Somehow not as angsty/whumpy as the current canon storyline.  Begins with his conviction, ends with his release.

Gilbert Blythe (Anne of Green Gables) Honestly, who doesn’t love Gilbert?  Pining away for Anne and being generally adorable.  No long winded explanation here, but can we all just take a second, think of Gilbert Blythe, and smile?

Blythe Spirit and Unromantic Ideal by Morte Rouge.  The first three books of the Anne of Green Gables Series from Gilbert’s POV.  I promise it’s not repetitive.  Some grammar issues.

Christopher Perry/Halliwell (Charmed) This tortured soul happens to fall right in the middle of one of my favorite tropes: Time Travel.  Chris travels back in time to prevent his older brother, the most powerful witch to ever live, from turning evil and taking over the world.  He lost literally everyone, led the resistance, watched his brother kill his fiance, and when he went back in time was hated by the younger versions of his family for being so driven and not letting them have a life and also for breaking up his mother and father (they, of course, did not know who he was). Also, he’s a sarcastic little shit.  It’s like he’s the definition of my preferred angst-button.

A Pair of Ragged Claws by cunneware.  Wyatt’s most deadly assassin arrives from the future.  It is revealed that she has been magically enslaved by Wyatt, and when that magic is lifted, she decides to aid Chris in his mission to prevent Wyatt from turning evil.  Ultimately, it is revealed that Chris is the sisters’ son/nephew. The Last Horcrux by Stonage Woman.  Crossover with Harry Potter, AU from book 6.  Taking place in the original future where Wyatt is evil, with all the accompanying super-depressing things that come along with that.  Harry is in his 40s, still fighting Voldemort, and essentially adopts Chris.  If you would like to know where my angst-o-meter sits, this one registers at like an 8 of 10.

Edmund Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia) Edmund is generally a shit in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.  Nobody will argue that point with you.  What’s important to me is how he grows.  He decides to become worthy of Aslan’s sacrifice.  He decides to live up to his sobriquet “The Just.”  He acts to atone for his selfishness and live a life of service.

Harold and Morgan: Not a Romance by rthstewart.  This is super a romance.  Edmund got married in Narnia to a banker from the Lone Islands.  It’s adorable, and I’m quite convinced she’s on the autism spectrum. The Stone Gryphon ‘verse by rthstewart.  The Pevensies deal with being back in WWII England, mostly by being ridiculously badass. Not a whole ton of Edmund yet, but it’s awesome, I love everything about it, and could hardly write Narnia recs and not include it. Letting Go by Lirenel.  Prince Caspian AU in which Edmund arrives separately from and substantially before his siblings because he wasn’t holding their hands at the train station. The Ledbury Run by Maddy Carr. Back in England, Edmund and Peter participate in a cross-country race and find in their path a downed German paratrooper.

Simon Tam (Firefly) Simon had it all.  He had money, he had his dream career, he had parents who were pleased as punch to have him as their son.  He gave it all up to rescue his sister from government experimentation and subsequently became a fugitive.  He has some trouble adjusting, as you can imagine, from golden child to desperate man on the edges of society, but he never considers going back.  Not once.  Because his sister was more important to him than all the accolades he could earn.

Alec Hardison (Leverage) Hardison is a hardened criminal.  Ish.  He takes immense pride in his hacking ability and would be offended if I said he was one of the best in the business.  Because he’s the best. But really, Hardison’s a soft touch.  He was the one most easily convinced to join the Leverage team and use his crime powers for good.  His first heist? Hacking into the Bank of Iceland to pay his Nana’s medical bills.  He decided that the Leverage crew was his family, and promptly adopted them all.  He’s the team-builder, the block they all built on.  He provided the space, he provided the nurturing eye, he paid attention to what his team members wanted and gave it to them.  Though he’s a criminal, he’s the moral center of the Leverage crew.  Also he’s a giant nerd and completely hilarious.

Many young people dream of their WEDDING. They imagine the dress, the flowers and their lover standing at the ALTAR. When they close their eyes, they can almost smell the wedding CAKE and hear the cheesy LOVE songs. And all of their friends are there, smiling and praising all of the BEAUTY in the room – and all attention on the HAPPY COUPLE. What most don’t imagine is their wedding gown soaked in BLOOD. They don’t imagine the SCREAMS as their friends are cleaved in half. They don’t picture their Prince Charming with a MURDEROUS grin on their face. Unfortunately, life is LESS like a romantic COMEDY, and much more like the HORROR stories we all pretend to not be AFRAID of. HARPER’S ISLAND, located an hour from Seattle’s coast, is the destination for one of these happy unions. Family and friends from all across the country have gathered on one half of the happy couple’s BIRTHPLACE to take part in the ceremony. As a special treat, their family has paid for A WEEK of vacation on the local hotel for ALL GUESTS. What most of these ignorant guests don’t know is that TEN YEARS AGO, a SERIAL KILLER was on the loose. JOHN WAKEFIELD killed TEN PEOPLE before he was SHOT by the local sheriff – but it has been said that he will NOT be the LAST. Many LOCALS are uneasy with having this many strangers gathered on the island, all remembering the killings a little too well. When wedding guests are KILLED off ONE BY ONE, the locals and the newcomers must take a deep breath and admit that A NEW SERIAL KILLER might be walking among them. THIS IS AN IC DISCORD SERVER. This blog serves only to organize those who have not yet been accepted.

In this group verse, your character will either be a part of the wedding party (as groom/bride, family of the groom/bride or friend of the groom/bride) or one of the locals. As an added bonus, you may audition for the secret role of the new serial killer as well. The identity of the serial killer will only be known by the killer themselves and me, the admin of the group. Together, we will make decisions on which character to kill off next. Please note this means your muse may (and is likely to) die. I will always contact the next victim and ask them to post a drabble of their death. After their death, I will reveal the identity of the killer so that they can smugly follow the rest of the plot.

Events will be posted, and though they will not ‘officially’ be held, interactions based on them are highly encouraged. This could for example be a bonfire, a rehearsal dinner, a picnic, a bachelor/bachelorette party, etc. It is not a new day until I have made the announcement; this is because a lot of things can happen in one day when people are dying like flies, and to make sure everyone has had the chance to interact based on the latest event/twist/death. Characters are, of course, allowed to not follow the wedding events and go on their own adventures.

This server and plot are set up to encourage extensive pre-established relationships between characters. Histories are encouraged – exes, childhood friends, jealous lovers, old flames, sibling/family interactions are encouraged and are fairly necessary for this. All plotting may be done in server or privately, as long as the mod is kept updated about important interactions.

This server is all about SECRETS. IC secrets should be given and are encouraged. All secrets must be made known to the mod for plot use.

The RULES: i. Do NOT share any plot knowledge you may have. This includes the identity of the killer, who will die next, and any other potential twists. If you play the killer or if your character has been killed, I need to trust that you will not ruin the surprise. ii. No OOC drama or godmodding other players. IC drama is certainly encouraged, but if there is an issue between anyone, please take it up with them privately or approach a mod. iii. Both canon characters and OCs are welcome. As this is a discord server, faceclaims do not come into play. We will not be accepting duplicates of the same muse unless a twin or family au is worked out between the players. iv. Send your application and verse-related asks to this blog until you are accepted and provided with the discord server link. v. Stay updated and active! This server will likely move fast, and interaction is key. If you go inactive for too long, it’s likely your muse will become plot fodder and murdered, or simply removed from the server.
