This concept has been cropping up more and more as we do emotional/psychological trauma work with patients. I like to think there is something universal about this idea, the slower you go the faster you get where you are headed. Resolution, integration and healing are those things we want immediately. These are drastically different than the mere cessation of suffering. #trusttheprocess #holdthespace #therapybros @therapy_bro

I was working with a child of about 8 years old the other day. We were playing a gross motor game, and he made up all the rules. Obviously, they were all to his advantage. As i questioned him about the unfair rules, he would think about it and then change the rules slightly. I couldn't help but the think of the underlying process going on inside his young mind. A vision of a text over photo that came to mind. At its foundation, is this how it works? Some will say, "first you got to learn the rules," but idk if that's completely accurate. So many of our rules/values/belief systems are absorbed, handed down that we don't ever learn them, we kinda just follow them, without question them as constructs. Play is the work of childhood, and i just think that the bees knees :) #theresilientchildisnotbornsheismade #beesknees #play #playtherapy #bestofover #grossmotoractivity #therapybros #questiontherules #learntoaskgoodquestions

I tell my staff this often: focus on being present, generous attunement, what you do during sessions and how you do it builds relationships. Your effort is what counts, that's your responsibility; the outcome, choices to be made and paths taken = destiny, that's the clients responsibility! #holdthespacetrusttheprocess #generousattunement #generousattention #freeandprotectedspace #agavehealthinc #agavehealth #therapyflo #therapybros #relationshipsmatter #relationshipsplusrhythmequalsregulation

Force-field analysis: Kurt Lewin, a social psychologist, developed this theory to look at human social behavior. It describes the factors (forces) that influence a situation, either driving movement towards a goal or blocking movement towards a goal (restraining). The bottom line is where you are now today, there are forces driving you and restraining you towards the top line, or, to reach a goal you want to achieve. If you can minimize, negate, decrease the restraining forces, while increasing the driving factors, you will reach your goal. What's holding you back? What is restraining your growth? What about the goals of your company, or, the goals of your family, what's holding them back from moving forward? #socialpsychology #psychology #forcefield #goals #movement #therapybros

A great quote by #chrissharma via #NPR . What do you wish for your life that seems "impossible?" Look at the role models you esteem, what about their life story inspires you? What seemly impossible thing did they achieve or overcome? #rockclimbing #sportclimbing #quote #madewithover #motivation #inspiration #embracethestruggle #embracethegrind #therapybros

Wellness Care VS Sickness Industry
A medical student is walking with his professor along a riverbank. Suddenly, they see a drowning man floating downriver. The student jumps into the water, pulls the man to shore, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and saves the man's life. Of course, the student is hoping his professor is impressed. Then, unaccountably, they see another drowning person, and the student repeats his performance. Soon the river is filled with drowning people and the breathless student is overwhelmed. "I know I'm a doctor dedicated to helping people, but I can't keep this up!" he shouts at the professor, who calls back to him. "Then why don't you go stop whoever is pushing these unfortunate people off the bridge?"

Remember this: You may have a "bad day," or be triggered to have strong negative emotions today (any day really), because that moment in time DOES not have to define how your day turns out, or WHO you are. YOU ARE NOT your emotions, or your car, or your home, or your relationship, or your abilities, or your shortcomings, or your looks, or your family. You are much more! #quote #Aristotle #therapybros #motivationmonday #begreat #leadershipisachoice #leadership
