Judas Iscariot, “Superstar” Costume (Zoy Frangos) Arts Centre Melbourne’s State Theatre, The Production Company Jesus Christ Superstar Production 2017 (3/3)

Costume Notes: I think his shoes might be the same from his previous costume, but everything else is definitely different. His black skinny jeans are exchanges for black slacks and he’s shirtless with a sequin suit (another sequin “Superstar” Judas)

Production Notes: Again as previously stated this is directed by Gale Edwards who also worked on the 2000 film so that is why I’m assuming the staging of Judas going on the cross is similar to what Jérôme Pradon does in the film version of “Superstar.”

Got my ticket to @theprodco production of @gentlemansguidebroadway!! Front Row Center baby! This was easily one of the best shows I have seen in the last 10 years. I was lucky enough to see it with some of the Original Broadway Cast including Jefferson Mays & @thebrycecapades and the ever lovely Scarlett Strallen! Looking forward to seeing @mitchellbutel and co put their spin on this fantastic show under the Direction of Roger Hodgman, Musical Direction of Kelly Dickerson and Choreography of Dana Jolly. Judas Iscariot, Promo/Original Design Costume (Zoy Frangos) Arts Centre Melbourne’s State Theatre, The Production Company Jesus Christ Superstar Production 2017 (1/3)

Costume Notes: Grease Judas... Well this is a promo version of his costume. As you can see in the original design he wears blue, but later this blue shirt is changed to a red tank top. The jacket is different from the one he wears in the show (the collar is different, the bottom strap on the front of the jacket are different widths, more pockets on the show ver., though in general they are similar in style) His belt is different for the promo from the actual stage costume, instead of a simple buckle as shown here, he wears a metal plate belt buckle instead for the stage. He has on a silver skull ring and a plain silver band ring on his left hand for the promo, but I do not think he wears any rings for the actual show.

I highly recommend the “Behind the Scenes of our TV Commercial.” they have some fun quips and the main three seem like a lovely trio. Costume Notes: The top row middle photo is during a rehearsal which is probably the reason the shirt is different. He has a pretty standard costume, does it look familiar? perhaps like the 2000 Jérôme Pradon Judas? Well it was directed by Gale Edwards which also did the 2000 film, not sure if it was just by chance as the original design had Judas in blue but if so still a fun coincidence.

Production Notes: Another interesting take on “Could We Start Again.” From what I can tell Peter and Mary M. sing while Simon stands beside them on stage. A clip of this is available in the “theprodco” YouTube channel’s video of the Audience Reactions.
