I'd really like to see Cor and Regis' conversation after the first part of Cruellest Cut. Please?
Sorry that this isn’t all of the conversation but I got stuck on the rest of it and this has been sitting in my drafts for months so I’m just going to post it as is:
“Cor…?”
He glanced up atRegis’ soft question, away from his sleeping son (and Cor ignored the waythat his heart clenched at the thought of even looking away from him again, after so long separated, after so many years where he had thought his childdead and forever lost to him), to see his friend biting his lip the waythat he always did when he wanted to ask questions that he wasn’t sure of.
With one final glanceat Nyx, ignoring the still drying tear tracks to brush a gentle hand across hissmooth - young, somehow, after all this time, he’d forgotten just howyoung he had been when everything had happened - forehead, Cor stood and movedaway from the sofa where he’d placed his son.
“Reggie.” He saidquietly, gesturing the King - not his King, never that, Cor had swornhimself to only one, but a King that he followed all the same - over to theother side of his office so that the conversation didn’t wake Nyx. “Ask.”Because he could practically see all the questions swirling around in hisfriend’s head.
“Your son?”
Cor smiled andglanced over at the sofa, still in awe of that fact that Nyx was here. “Yeah.”He breathed out softly, glorying in the words. “Yeah, Reggie, he’s my son.”
There was a pause asRegis looked at him, eyes darting over his shoulder to take in the man sleepingon the sofa, and then his friend smiled at him gently - his joy for him obviousdespite the ever-present confusion. "Why didn't you-"
His smile feel and heshook his head, cutting him off. "I thought him dead long ago, Regis, alongside my husband." Cor swallowed back his pain and his horror and hisgrief, pretending that seeing Nyx again hadn't ripped old unhealed wounds raw, pretending that his very soul didn't ache with the loss of the man towhom Cor had sworn everything he was.
From the look onRegis' face, Cor wasn't doing a very good job of pretending.
"Cor..."Regis whispered and he looked away against the sympathy in his friends’ eyes. He'd failed them, both of them, no matter what his son believed, and it was hisfault.
He should have seenit coming, it was his job to look out for threats and he'd failed, andthey'd all paid the price.
Cor would neverforgive himself that.

I, uh, may be writing a fic where Ardyn keeps forgetting he's supposed to be a villain and gets yelled at by first the player, then the Astrals. So he says something cryptic/does something creepy, and then wanders off and forgets again.
I am so so glad this is happening and PLEASE drop a link when you are finished!

"I wish you would write..." a neurodivergent canon character in addition to Prompto, 'cause this fandom needs MOAR NEURODIVERGENCE, and Prompto is /only the beginning/. Noctis or Ignis maybe? Hmm...
...is now the time to tell you i have an autistic and depressed lucis caelum fic in the works?
oh damn. autistic ignis tho.
ohhhhhhh autistic ignis i had not thought of that before.
mmmmmmmmm yes good things.

SAME, I was so mad that he fell for the 'I need more power to do my job, so I'm gonna ABANDON my job and my friends to seek out the power I don't actually need,' and then didn't really seem to learn much from the experience?  Like, he still lacks patience with Noctis' grief, and the whole fear thing didn't really seem to bring in much character development for him so much as for Gilgamesh and Cor.   Which, I mean it was sort of nice to get that but I think it could have been done differently, at least with maybe he comes to regret leaving?  But they didn’t do that, so I just kinda don’t see how anything has changed for him.
@theperidotshade
Right?!
Like, Gladio, buddy, you have one fucking job. And you’re not doing it. At all.
I just got so angry with him as the game went on and just. Didn’t take Notcis into account at all. Not only that, he used Noct as a punching bag for his own feelings. That whole train scene? Gladio, my dude. You are failing so hard at your job, it is not even funny. He takes his anger and his failures out on Noct and then later, when he should be apologizing and learning from those mistakes...they just get brushed over.
Um, no?
Look, I like Gladio. I do. But I don’t think he’s a good Shield. He thinks being a good Shield is being the physically strongest person in the room. And that’s. Not even close to what being a Shield means. I don’t know what went wrong in his education to make him think that, but clearly something did. He had so many opportunities in the game where he could learn and grow and he just. Didn’t.
It was so disappointing.

She waits
at water’s edge
where not-geese glide
untouched by liquid’s glaze,
and she listens
to calls that resonate
too-loud, not-loud-enough
in her weary heart:
Don’t you know?
(They whisper)
The world doesn’t like
when you
outgrow
it.

For a prompt...how about five times Regis saw Aulea in Noctis? Or if that's not doing it for you right now, anything with Regis, Clarus, Cor, Cid, and Weskham when they were young, resting after a day's fighting.
Regis leaned against the wall of the cave, fluffy blanket pulled up to his chin, with the rest of it falling around him. He smiled at the image of Clarus and Cid bickering in front of him, but moved to wrap the warm lump snuggling into him in blankets. Regis looked down at Cor. Cor grinned at him and showed him the watch he was holding in his hands.
Regis blinked.
“Really?” Clarus exclaimed, “you took my other watch but you definitely didn’t touch this one?”
“Why would I touch your stupid thing?” Cid told him. “It’s a shitty watch.”
“You-” Clarus hissed.
Regis turned back to look at Cor. Cor grinned harder, pressing his face into Regis’ shoulder as he giggled.
“Cor.” Regis said, exasperated, but smiling. Then something hit him. Regis unwrapped the blanket from around himself, a slow smirk growing on his face. He wound it around Cor, mischief heavy in his eyes, then picked up the Cor-cocoon. Cor scrunched up his nose at him, but looked at Regis with trusting eyes. “Clarus?” Regis called. “Cor’s the one that took your watch.”
Cor squawked, but now he was trapped. “Regis!” He yelped, betrayed.

Ardyn/Happiness; Gilgamesh Did Not Sign Up For This
Peace reigned, the sun shone brightly and the Scourge had been cleansed. Evertything should be alright. But then why did his King kept stumbling into greater trouble? When Gilgamesh vowed to protect Ardyn he never considered political plots would be involved. He wants a refund.

Do creative writing majors make deals with the Leanan sidhe? And everyone knows that they're the ones who eventually look like they haven't slept in months, and sometimes, if they're really unlucky, get taken away in ambulances?
(For those unfamiliar with the term: The leannán sídhe is generally depicted as a beautiful muse who offers inspiration to an artist in exchange for their love and devotion; however, this frequently results in madness for the artist, as well as premature death. x)
It happens rarely, but it happens. If you’re desperate enough to take them up on it, things are going to go really well for a while and then very, very sharply downhill. Folklore says your only escape is to find someone else for her to leech off instead, which definitely sours your relationship with the other people in your figure drawing class.

I...really want to know how *Ignis* reacts to finding out the truth, because that's the sort of thing it's his job to keep track of...I just imagine him taking off his glasses to pinch the bridge of his nose and sigh. It's all so obvious in hindsight...
When he, finally, figures it out (which, at least, happens before Noctis and the King and Clarus) Iggy just sort of sighs and wonders how he hadn’t noticed while pinching the bridge of his nose.
He wants to blame it on hindsight making things obvious, but when he checks that really doesn't pan out.
Because they weren’t trying to hide it, had in fact been going out of their way to make it as obvious as possible, and yet he still hadn’t noticed.
There are videos on the internet of Nyx using his armiger to fish. The glaives snapchat stories usually include Nyx using his magic in a very obvious way. There are entire Kwetter pages dedicated just to posting memes of Nyx being a Lucis Caelum. At one point, Captain Drautos wrote a report that says Nyx Lucis Caelum Ulric and he just left it like that.
And nobody noticed.
Ignis feels a little bit like an idiot, tbh

7 Sentence WIP Meme
The rules are pretty simple - post 7 sentences from a recent WIP (or write seven sentences for a WIP) and post them, then tag 7 other people. Thanks @blackkatmagic for the tag!
———
They find Mirena on the southward side of the island, planting papaya saplings in the heart of a clearing. She looks them over, and Nyx knows she’s seeing his red-rimmed eyes, the salt crusting their hair and clothes, the ferocious scowl Crowe hasn’t dropped yet. Her mouth twists. Sympathy and pity both, but Nyx can’t bring himself to care past the howling loss digging fangs into his chest.
“Selena said you could help us break into the Underworld.” Mirena sets the sapling down slowly.
“...I think you should come inside.”

*whispers softly* doooo itttttt
and...i will admit....to wanting to write autistic cor for a LONG time. maybe soon it will come. maybe.

Look, I know I, Claudius is based on very dated history and all the members of the Julio-Claudian dynasty are portrayed with dubious accuracy at best, but I don't care; Livia having lunch with Martina the poisoner and swapping recipes is the only Livia I shall ever want.

theperidotshade replied to your post “Guys, I wrote a thing. Have ~2,500 words of worldbuilding and feels....”
!!!!! It occurred to me—if there were entire families smuggled out of Insomnia due to Somnus' takeover, they probably had to leave Lucis entirely.  Which makes me wonder—are there little pockets of Ancient Lucian culture in other parts of the world; people who melded their traditions with those of their neighbors, but kept the spirit of who they were?  People who remember that they were Lucian and why their definition of Lucian has diverged so strongly from Insomnians'?
@theperidotshade
Yeeeeessssss. Yes this.
People who teach a different history than the rest of the country - especially Insomnia. They hide in the beginning, of course, keep quiet so that Somnus and his followers will not catch wind of their whispers and later, so that those that remember Somnus, that knew him and followed him and were loyal to him rather than the people cannot silence them forever. They keep quiet, but they keep the history, the knowledge, the truth alive.
They remember the First King. The one who walked among them, who spoke with them, who saved them. They remember his name when the rest of the world has forgotten, speak it among themselves in quiet, reverent tones.
“Remember, remember the First King of Lucis,” they say to each other, to their families and friends and neighbors, “Remember he who walked among us as he was - a man, no more, no less.”
“Remember he whose hands glowed gold with the Dawn Mother’s grace,” they tell their children, they tell the future, “Remember he who carried our pain and suffering, he who took the Plague into himself, leeched away our ills until his blood ran black. For us he did this, for us, the people, for us he carried the Starscourge.”
“Remember, remember the First King, the Healer, the Sage,” they tell small forms listening with wide eyes and eager ears that would not be here were it not for the grace of a man the rest of the world was slowly forgetting.
“Remember Ardyn Lucis Caelum.”

I'm a poli-sci major, and I've noticed at my college that we divide into several types: The Future Politician, The Activist, The Theorist, and The Idealist. The Politician has already been covered in the previous poli-sci post, but I'm interested in the others. The Activist probably wouldn't have much to do with the Gentry—unless they got really invested in an END THE FEAR campaign, which would probably be...unwise. The Theorist is basically just an applied philosopher...(1/2)
I can’t find the second part, which is a shame, because this is really neat!
