This is me a week and a half ago, passing through a little country town completely unaware of the absolutely fucking crazy adventure that lay in front of me over the next 10 days. It was great to play my first ever interstate show at @theoldbar , something I’ve wanted to do for a long while. I saw some sights I’d never seen before, made some new friends and caught up with some great people! I travelled through two states and a territory, seeing the spaces between the cities of the great country I come from; speeding down that ribbon of highway, nothing above me but that endless skyway, mesmerised by double lines, two yellow tightropes, I’m making good time. A massive thank you to @bobhookway @harrisonjparker @stefan.andrews and Nick time in Melbourne and @iamchristine_m24 for her hospitality, some amazing times in the space of 3 days and nothing beats sleeping in a merc when you haven’t slept at all! And all the way from Canberra to Warragul to Frankston to Belgrave to Smeaton and all the way back home; an eternally indebted thank you to the @bromhammusic family who have welcomed me into the pack with open arms. I will always remember the time spent on this tour; it’s amazing to see and be a part of a community filled with some of the most amazingly inspiring and talented people I’ve ever known, built on a love of music, with a spirit that really breaches the soul. A never ending tour doesn’t seem too far out of the picture! One final big thank you to @undercoveralex_ for saving my poor ass and getting me to Canberra in the first place! He’s truly a wonderful human being! But now I’m back to reality, in a sense, more likely just back in my own bed. Back with a show this Friday with @bobhookway at Café troppo from 6pm and back with the band, playing a sweet as free show with @sleepylizardband and @freefromburden at @thecrankerhotel next Thursday and solo at the Exeter with @zachary_luka feb 1st! Dear Seattle/Sly Withers/TOWNS @TheOldBar

The Old Bar is a special place in the Melbourne music scene for it is designed to build an intimate experience within a confine space. The crowd can get up close and personal to the music and immerse themselves with the lyrics while moving shoulder to shoulder with their mates. Dear Seattle’s “Maybe” Single Launch at the Old Bar was just the night to represent this as it had people lining up and getting cosy for what was the “Gatho of the Year.” 

With the Adelaide boys TOWNS opening the night with their beautifully moody tunes and having the crowd clapping along with them to the F.R.I.E.N.D.S theme song, The Sly Withers boys followed up to show the crowd how Western Australia slams their jams with head bangers “Google Maps” and “Closer.”  But once the clock struck 11:30pm, the Dear Seattle boys brought it home playing tunes from their debut Ep, new songs such as their new heart-wrenching single “Maybe”. This had fans swarming the Old Bar with their drinks and screaming the words while packing on top from the stage dives.

Dear Seattle have a special connection with the crowd. Not only with their cut throat lyricism, Aus Rock tonality and their on stage presence translation. But  their classic old mate personalities that had fans warming up in the pit, chanting back their thoughts after lead singer Brae mentioned a title change to a song once called “Dr Phil” for their upcoming debut album. 

It was a night of community and mateship where Melbourne fans got to witness rising rock talent from around Australia, shouting lyrics to songs about the heart aches and hurdles in life along, while smiling at one sharing the good vibes together. 

Only with a weeks notice about a surprise headline show and their new single “Maybe”, hinting an upcoming debut album. Fans like myself can’t help but feel excited to witness the potential the Dear Seattle boys have for their future endeavours.
