We hit 100 followers. So guess what? It’s time for the Zombie Cicada 100 Followers DTIYS.

I said I wanted to do something more lore related, and here it is.

These four have been popping up all over Wolfbell’s tourney journey and are very important to her lore, and I figured it was time that Theoús got a proper visual and to make the event focus around them.

I also did some silly little chibi doodles of them.

[The beep grabs Imora's attention and she perks up slightly. She grabs a nearby cloth to clean it before she picks it up.]

[She can feel her nerves coming in and her hand starts to shake. What if it was positive? What would she tell Narinder and Poet? Would their reactions be positive, or negative?]

[Taking a deep breath to calm herself down, Imora closes her eyes, flips the test over, and looks at the result.]

HECK YEAH!!

I love how just- mischievous Petra looks in your style. Man is charging full steam ahead to challenge someone. Its kind of funny because the other three all have mouths too, but stylistically I couldn’t get it to look right and really Petra being the only one showing his teeth is all the more fitting to him practically being the aspect of Theoús that seeks out battle. The downwards crossed swords a representation of honouring those who died in battle.

Lykos looking more at the ‘camera’ than I had him makes it almost look like he’s aware he’s being observed, I always liked to think he was the most vigilant of the four.

Arima looks really pretty and mysterious, I like how it almost looks like one paw is reaching forwards.

And Chion, I love the little detail of their eyes being shaded in, the unique red colour that’s so unique amongst thriomoiras with only them and… one other, having red eyes.

Love it!! You did a fantastic job!!

Wolfbell rubbed at her eye, muffling a few more sniffles. She leans more into Dotty as she feels their hints of fuzz against brush her.

Wolfbell: Y.. yeah.

Subject 42’s eyes narrowed a little bit.

Subject 42: You don’t need to lie about that.

Wolfbell’s ears flattened a bit, and with as gentle of a stern look as they could muster they continued.

Subject 42: you’ve been strong for a very long time. Stronger than most, let alone someone your age, ever has to be. And you are allowed to not be okay because of it. Being strong, and never complaining about being battered by the storm does not go hand in hand with being a living person. It would if you were a stone wall, but you’d not a wall, are you?

Wolfbell gave a little whimper, but slowly shook her head.

Subject 42: I did not think so. Now, talk. I’m listening, and I will understand what you are saying.

She clenched her paws a bit, but after a minute, she did start talking.

She wants to know what she did wrong to deserve this. Being purged. Being forsaken. Is it because she’s a monster? Everyone says she is, and she’s always tried her damn hardest to say it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t phase her, she knows she’s not evil, right?

Only now she doesn’t quite know. Truly, she never did, and just dodged around that fact as it built up inside her. She figured learning things about herself, what she is, would make all the problems go away, she’d feel better about everything. Only… it didn’t, just, prevented her from continuing to hide from the thing she had been running from. Denying, rather than accepting. But she is the monster, she seen the picture, she saw what was written under it.

Subject 42 listens as promised, before slowly rubbing their face with a paw as if a headache was setting in.

Subject 42: Theoús… no, novice, you aren’t a monster.

Wolfbell: but… but the .. the writing said.. and I’m..

She looks at her claws, the red soul magic that trickles from the tips of her fingers.

Subject 42: Our kind, we have been around far longer than the war. Before the monsters were even first created. We’re an important piece of the very balance of the universe’s grand ecosystem, but we’re not the cause of the end nor the cause of these disasters. Simply, the call of the dead is one we can hear and feel drawn to answer in order to fulfil duties as psychopomps and forces of nature, we serve to guide the souls of the dead to the afterlife.

Trust had always been a foreign thing with Dotty.

Putting your safety in the hands of someone else. Someone who you could never fully know the intentions of. Someone other than the man who practically raised you.

But at times, Dotty couldn't even trust him.

And now, that "trust" had been shattered completely. It was like breaking shackles that, at one point, they didn't even know they had.

The man they referred to affectionately as "doc" had violated their trust and privacy too many times, all in the name of "safety."

And just now he dared to imply that his own rescuers were affiliated with--

that place.

Fal was right. Fuck him. Forget him.

"Waffles" was explaining some modern slang to a confused Wolfbell. Old Fluff was busy reading.

Dotty waved with their shadow and tried to smile.

"I'm back, gang."

Das Wappen des neuen Weihbischofs

Jeder Bischof hat ein Wappen. So auch der neue Weihbischof und davon wollen wir euch heute einiges berichten.

Wappen sind aus praktischen Gründen heraus entstanden, als Zeichen und Kennzeichen. Um zu sagen wem was gehört, verwendete man ein Zeichen und am besten ein Wappen, das „erzählte“ dann auch gleich noch etwas über den Besitzer bzw. dessen Familie. 

Mindestens seit dem 13. Jahrhundert finden sich Wappen auch in der kirchlichen Welt. In dieser Tradition wurde auch für unseren neuen Weihbischof ein Wappen entworfen. Die Erklärung erfolgt nach den Regeln der Heraldik, der Wappenkunde.

Der Schild des Wappens von Weihbischof Würtz ist über einer eingebogenen, gesenkten roten Spitze gespalten von Gelb und Blau. Heraldisch rechts – und damit für den Betrachter links – ist ein rotes Freiburger Balkenkreuz zu sehen, links drei weiße (silberne) Salzkristalle 1:2 gestellt. Die Spitze zeigt einen weißen Fisch.

Das Kreuz weist unmittelbar auf den zentralen Glaubensinhalt des Evangeliums hin: das Heil durch Tod und Auferstehung Jesu Christi. Das Freiburger Balkenkeuz war ursprünglich das Steinmetzzeichen der Freiburger Münsterbauhütte. Im Laufe der Zeit wurde es immer mehr zu einem Zeichen für das Münster insgesamt, das sowohl Pfarrkirche als auch Kathedrale ist. Damit steht das Balkenkreuz zum einen für die Tätigkeit des Weihbischofs als Pfarrer, zum anderen ist es auch Ausdruck für seine Verbundenheit mit dem Erzbischof und der ganzen Erzdiözese. Gleichzeitig zeigt das rechte Feld die Bistumsfarben, die zudem die badischen Landesfarben und die Farben Karlsruhes, der Heimatstadt des Weihbischofs, sind.

Die Salzkristalle weisen auf den Familiennamen „Würtz“ hin, einen Übernamen zu mittelhochdeutsch „würz(e)“ („Pflanze, Kraut, Gewürz“) für einen entsprechenden Händler oder Bauern; auch Salz verleiht dem Essen Würze. Zugleich stellen die Salzkristalle im Wappen einen Bezug zum biblischen Bildwort vom „Salz der Erde“ (Mt 5,13) her.

Fische waren schon in früher christlicher Zeit ein wichtiges Symbol. Bei der wundersamen Brotvermehrung (Joh 6, 1-15) sättigt Jesus eine große Menschenmenge mit fünf Broten und zwei Fischen. Die ersten Apostel waren zudem Fischer, die Jesus zu Menschenfischern berief (Mt 4, 19). Fische wurden auch zum Erkennungszeichen der Christen. Das griechische Wort für Fisch ΙΧΘΥΣ - ICHTHYS enthält ein kurzgefasstes Glaubensbekenntnis. Die Anfangsbuchstaben lassen sich nämlich zu „Jesus Christus, Gottes Sohn, Erlöser“ (Ἰησοῦς Χριστός Θεοῦ Υἱός Σωτήρ - Iesóus Christós Theoú Hyiós Soter) ergänzen. Ein weißer Fisch in Rot tritt auch im Wappen des ehemaligen Benediktinerklosters Gegenbach auf, womit dieses Feld an das Wirken von Würtz als Pfarrer der Kirchengemeinde Vorderes Kinzigtal St. Pirmin erinnert.  

Der Wappenschild steht vor einem gelben Kreuz und wird umrahmt von dem so genannten Prälatenhut in Grün, von dessen grünen Schnüren beiderseits sechs Quasten (1:2:3) herabfallen.

Die Worte der Wappendevise „Adveniat regnum tuum“ („Dein Reich komme“) sind dem Vaterunser entnommen (Mt 5, 10).

↠ Progress  Working on scene 6 (13/03/22), word count at 2k+ so far, predicting this scene to be around 5k in total. Hoping to get another 1k done tonight before bed. 

Lo and behold when your head turns you find him there as if he had never left you. He kneels on the floor, which you know must surely be uncomfortable, with his head resting over his folded arms. The sight of him makes you swallow harshly. Tendrils of his hair fall across his sun-kissed skin. His lips are parted the slightest, back rising and falling steadily with each inhale, exhale. His lashes cast shadows beneath his eyes, empathising the beauty of them, even closed.

Screaming. Pointing. Frothing-

Okay okay okay so for fun I drew Dotty as a member of Wolfbell’s species.

Which isn’t spoilers to say the name, I just want the reveal of such to be as new and exciting for the crowd as it’s gonna be for Wolfbell when she finally learns what she’s called.

But this. This right here, them!

Now given their design aspects, if they were in fact like this, they would actually be quite the powerful member of the species. Without getting into too much details before any big reveals are made (might come back to this after to reveals have been made to further deep dive into this) there is two separate groups within the society. One is known as the ippótes, which is what Dotty in this form would be, and that’s what most shown individuals of the species like Ryaki and Subject 42 are. They are the minority of the species. Wolfbell is also a ippótes. What separates the two is alongside being considerably stronger and often a good bit larger than the other group, they have multiple of what are dubbed ‘embodiments’. Otherwise known as qualities of Theoús.

Next is the soul magic. Dotty of course having a yellow eye would have yellow soul magic. This is the embodiment of strength and courage to face one’s enemies. Ironic, given Dotty is pretty cowardly (affectionately)

But who knows! If you also could fire lasers of soul magic, you’d probably be bolder too. Or maybe they had some kind of sever in their connection to Theoús. Who knows!

But moving on, the ears are actually not seen in every member of the species, only those with particularly strong embodiment of devotion.

I did not really know if Dotty in this form would have ever received bells. Or what happened to their other eye and wing in this interpretation of them.

Ironically enough they are a far more natural normal colour for the species than Wolfbell is-

Since @zombiecicada drew Dotty as a member of Wolfbells species I decided to draw wolfbell as a member of Dottys species!
