The way some of y'all talk about Luke Newton is just. . .I need this fandom to check itself with a swiftness, because the very thinly veiled ableism is ENOUGH. Like it is WILD to see, in the year of our lord 2024, people either actively infantalizing or talking down this grown man.

Calling Luke Newton stupid for behaviors that are just him displaying his Neurodivergence? Ableism. Saying it because it takes him longer to answer a question is ableism. Saying it because he said something 'incorrectly' or not as eloquently on the fly as his neurotypical costars? Ableism.

Saying he's boring because he's quiet or he doesn't talk as much (because he often needs more processing time and/or has anxiety to surmount) is ableism. Knitpicking his social media and how he doesn't interact as much with a fandom that has actively been cruel to him is ableism.

Assuming Luke is out here like some helpless little lamb clinging to Nicola because 'oh, she's his comfort person!' instead of recognizing that they both lean on and like each other? Is ableism. Saying he has a one sided infatuation with her BECAUSE he needs her as said comfort person is ableism. Essentially being all 'awwww, poor wee baby, he has anxiety so thankfully his neurotypical costar is there to pick up the slack!' is. ableism. You cannot in one breath say that Nicola's love language is touch but also that Luke is the only one ever reaching to hold her hand because he needs her to ground him. That's ableism.

They both like each other. They have a very close relationship and they both clearly admire the other and like to be around one another. To frame it as him being some inept toddler and her as his more capable caretaker and 'thank God he has her to give him the save' is ableism! That's ableism, babes!! And in many cases people don't recognize that's what they're taking part in, but that's what it is.

He is a grown man and a hell of an actor. Yes, he's quieter than some of his costars. Yes, he contemplates what he says in his mind before he says it, and it takes him some time to do so. Yes, he doesn't behave the way his neurotypical peers do. He doesn't have to. He won't- because he has a neurodivergent brain. And he shouldn't have to behave as a neurotypical person or an 'acceptable' neurodivergent person to have respect from people who claim to be his fans.

He's been outspoken and unapologetic about being a neurodivergent actor with ADHD and dyslexia and how that can contribute to difficulties in the current media machine. He has discussed his coping mechanisms. He has specifically done so because he knows how difficult it can be to be a neurodivergent person in the limelight, and he uses that spotlight to show other neurodivergent actors they can be successful, too. And people saw this openly neurodivergent man and said some mad out of pocket nonsense about him.

As the tour comes to a close, I just really need people to look back on their beliefs and viewpoints during it and do some reflection, because I am side-eying a LOT of takes that have gone largely uncontested.

Keep in mind, Michael Afton didn't have a real support system.

His father didn't pay attention to him unless he was manipulating him to do things (Sister Location). His teenage friends were bullies and implied to have left him after The Bite. The people on the street who waved to him probably only wanted free pizza coupons from him.

So when Michael hears someone on the phone actually telling him he's doing great? That he's proud of him ? And doesn't expect anything in return (except possibly finding his body so his daughter knows what happened)? And all while Michael is fighting for his life against everything else that wants him dead??

That's Michael's brother in arms.

When Michael finds his body, one week later, would he hesitate to embrace him?

DPXDC Prompt #61 Part 2

Danny knew something was wrong. Jazz wasn’t the type to mess around and Danny knew she wouldn’t ask something like this. 

Hanging up the phone Danny thought about his next course of action. Searching up Amity Park got results for some news articles but they were severely lacking headlines about anything ghost related. Another search for his parents this time and they existed but unfortunately they never got the portal working. Great that meant he was trapped in this universe with no easy way back. 

Putting his phone away he slowly paced around the rooftop, wondering what steps he could take next. He couldn’t make his way back to Amity Park, he wondered if he could get the portal working but there wasn’t a guarantee they kept the portal in one piece when it didn’t work. He didn’t even know if his stamina could hold the flight back either. He doubted he could find a natural portal, the chance of another spawning nearby was abysmal. He had even left his wallet and keys in his backpack that he left in his locker, there was less chance of Dash stealing from him if he kept nothing of value on him in the first place. 

Before Danny had time to make a solid plan the door leading down the stairs burst open and none other than Batman and Robin ran though. Danny had no interest in meeting his father, especially in an alternative universe. They seemed to glance around the roof before they landed on Danny. He only had a couple seconds before Robin ran at him and swung his sword at him. Danny barely dodged before jumping back, getting some distance from Robin.

He took a breath before realizing something, there wasn’t a current Robin in his world. It didn’t make sense, all of the Robins of his world were either retired into a new vigilante name or in the case of Jason Todd, dead. Danny kept up with the Wayne family and the Batfamily, partially because of Sam and Tucker, and partially because of his own curiosity. Sam and Tucker may not have known about Phantom but they were his best friends and he’d do everything to keep them safe.

 This current Robin didn’t make any sense, Danny couldn’t make any sense of it. His thoughts caused him to lose focus for a moment and it was all Robin needed as Danny found himself on his back with Robin pointing his sword right at Danny's neck. 

It took Danny a moment of staring at the sword until he realized it was his sword. The exact same way he weld back in the League, this WAS him in this universe. Danny couldn’t help but stare, he was a little dumbfounded. How did his counterpart in this world get away from the League? His thoughts were interrupted when Robin started speaking,

“Quiet clone! What does mother want now?” Oh, Danny didn’t like the sound of this.

Danny could admit it was weird hearing the other speak in his voice, “Clone? I’m not a clone.” Danny tried but he could tell Robin wasn’t buying it. Danny could tell Robin narrowed his eyes at him in frustration.

“What do you mean you're not a clone? Except for your eyes you're a carbon copy!” Danny could tell he was getting agitated which might not end well. Danny thought about how to go about this conversation and he decided in the end maybe ripping the bandaid would be the best way to go. 

“I’m not a clone!” He repeated scooting a little ways away from the sword, Robin still had it pointed towards him but he didn’t move to attack, good maybe Danny could get some words out. “Alright this is going to sound crazy but I’m from an alternate universe.”

Robin paused like he was listening to something, probably a communication device. Then their Father Batman himself spoke. 

“Robin, I need you on backup with Nightwing. I’ll handle things here,” Danny hadn’t ever heard his father speak in person and he felt a little terrified about the conversation he was about to have. 

Robin gave him one more glare before heading out and grappling away. Batman approached Danny but stopped a ways away. Danny finally climbed back to his feet before Batman spoke.

“I believe you…” Danny was a little shocked at what he was hearing but he guessed Batman, one of the founders of the Justice League might have encountered some weird stuff in his life. 

Batman took a heavy breath before continuing, “ Follow me we can discuss this more once we're back at the cave. I’m sure your version of me is worried sick.”

Danny decided not to say anything on that but followed behind. 

The drive to the cave was mundane, Danny was just trying not to think about how difficult the next conversation would be.

She's six years old. She's going to go to a new school next year. She hugs her friends goodbye. They tell her they're going to keep in touch. They'll still be friends. They'll tell her everything that happens.

it's just occurred to me that if dream can strip the rationalizations from serial killers' minds and make them realize what they did was wrong, he ought to be able to do that for any prejudice or other internal narrative that justifies being awful to other people.

obviously there's a question of free will*, and since dream isnt omnipotent or omniscient, he might not be able to do this to everyone about everything, but we see with John Dee that the power to remove dreams can reach quite far, and it's kinda wild to think that dream is powerful enough that the Problem of Evil becomes directly relevant to him and his characterization.

of course, dream is also not immune to comforting self delusions that rationalize being shitty, so we know he would not be a perfect arbiter of which beliefs to strip away. in problem of evil terms he is a god who is neither all-good nor all-powerful, and he's self-aware enough to know that, at least.

the compromise he's reached, creating dreams and nightmares (and possibly inspiring stories) to push people to be better, and to reveal their darker sides to them, is an understandable decision, especially since the corinthian is proof that even only going that far he can make mistakes that make people worse.

but again, we do also know that dream can get too bound by his rules and ideas of what should be and what must be, and it begs the question of what the world would be like if a being like dream was taking a more active role in limiting people's tendency to justify terrible things?

*in the case of the serial killers dream seems to think the corinthian has somehow created/encouraged these narratives while rogue and that he's therefore correcting an error he caused rather than unnaturally modifying people's minds, so that kinda makes sense as him making an exception

One last "simple" quality of life update on Stardew Valley I'd really like would be an option at Robin to buy the missing resources when building or upgrading a building, only the ones that requires the resources she sells (Wood/hardwood and stone), just charge the amount it would cost to buy the amount we're missing and done (maybe I'm just lazy but like, without mods there ain't much time in the game and in the beginning there's so much I want to do so that'd help a lot)

i don't have the best technical wheel knowledge, but i'm assuming frankie meant it's bc of the difference between bikes! he mentions gp24 being more suited for assen and to my understanding, it's bc the key difference is in power+aero which allows for assen's fast flowing high speed corners.

personally, i think it's a mix of both bc sachsenring is quite different (more elevations, tight corners, etc.) aaand this is where marc's tyre management could shine + he's just naturally better with left hand corners.

still though, it's still a really physical and technical track so jorge and pecco definitely have great chances here. i have hopes too, but we gotta manage expectations 😭😭 certainly gresini feeling that pressure bc the gp23 and marc can fight. i will choose to believe thaaat.
