How To Write Character Motivation
This little (not-so-little) post is all about how to give your character a motivation for that goal all the while taking into account important things like the backstory, worldbuilding, themes, and such.
Keep in mind the fact that there are billions of different goals and connecting motivations so this advice is probably not applicable for everything :)
Again, these are just some tips. I am going to be assuming that you have some basic information about your character like what they want and where they come from :D
A) Questions, Questions, And More Questions
Take your character and ask them what their goal is. Then ask them "why?". Force them to answer. Then ask them different "why" questions based on what they answer!
For example: "Character A wants to kill the dragon"
Why? The dragon killed my family.
Why did the dragon kill your family? My father was a monster hunter who was upsetting the dragon's food resource.
Why did the dragon kill your other family members? My mom and my sister were collateral damage in the dragon's attack.
You can do this little exercise with any type of goal from crime, adventure, romance, to any other genre I haven't listed yet!
B) Deep Psychology
Now you have ask yourself, actually your character but you know, "what is this really about"?
What does this goal symbolize for this character?
Character A wants to kill the dragon because she believes it will end her own nightmares about the death of her parents. This is a thoughtless attempt to grieve without grieving.
Character B wants to steal a treasure of their home village because he believes that by gaining the financial rewards associated, he will be adored by his new community of outsiders. This is a desire for belonging.
You get the point. These goals aren't just about stealing your home's sacred treasure for wealth or killing a dragon for revenge. It's about universal desires we all share. To be loved, to be strong, to be great.
This is necessary because most people don't live in isolated villages housing secret treasures nor do they kill dragons. If you want your audience to connect with your character, the audience needs something universal to latch onto.
C) Themes And Misbelief
Most great stories feature a "misbelief" or mistaken assumption. This is the potentially fatal flaw of this character who believes something that is either not reflective of reality or will endanger something they care about.
Even if Character A kills the dragon ten times over, their family is gone. They can't kill their grief. They have to authentically work through it. Besides, I can't imagine how completely f#cked the food web would be if an apex predator like the dragon died.
If Character B used the sacred treasure to gain untold wealth they most likely would gain the acceptance and support of the "outsiders". But isn't it more important to protect the tradition. Their culture? Their people? It's a good thing to protect things that need to be protected!
These stories can either end as a cautionary tale, a lifeless happily ever after, and an impactful happy ever after depending on the character arc and ending of these characters.
If Character A and B "succeed" in their goals but this ruins their overall life, it's a cautionary tale.
If Character A and B succeed in their goals and they suffer no consequences for their mistaken belief, it's a lifeless victory.
If Character A and B choose different goals as a result of a character arc then they will succeed and reach a true happily ever after.

I must say: I’m genuinely impressed by how creative all your stories are. I have three questions related to your writing process, if you don’t mind.
1) How do you stay motivated to keep creating?
2) Where do you find inspiration?
3) have you ever had an idea for a scene that you struggled to execute? How did you work through that to write the scene?
I love your stories! I look forward to every chapter of Charlie McNamara.
1) Motivation to create has never been an issue for me -- there's always some new thing to write about! My issue, and the issue faced by a lot of other writers, is the motivation to stick with a project to completion. That's hard. Everyone's got a hundred "works in progress" they'll never touch again because they took a break and when they came back, their attention was on something new and shiny.
My solution to this? Money.
The reason I started Curse Words as a web serial and opened a patreon for it wasn't because I ever expected to be able to make a living as a writer. I'm as surprised as anyone that so many kind people have put their support behind me and let me keep writing these fucked up stories instead of getting a real job. I did it because I wasn't getting my projects finished. I was doing what we all do; getting three quarters of the way through any given project and then finding something more fun to work on instead. And when you risk disappointing readers by doing that, well, that'll get you back in the seat over the little bumps, maybe pull you back to a project a few times. But when people are paying you actual cash in return for consistent output, on time, to story completion? That's a way bigger motivator. Even if it's just one guy. For a long time, I had one patron! It was enough! It worked! It's not about making a lot of money, which is borderline impossible as a writer (again, I still can't believe my supporters are so generous enough that i can make this my career). But it acts as some level of both proof that your work is valued, and an active obligation on your part to keep producing it on a consistent schedule. My readers are giving me something valuable for this. I can't let them down.
Sorry, I'm sure you wanted a more uplifting kind of answer. But that's just what works for me.
2) I've never really been sure how to take this question. This is basically the age-old 'where do you get your ideas?' and it... doesn't have an answer. You think of a thing and you write about it. As you resolve the problems and inconsistencies in the thing, that fills out more and more of the world of the story.
Angel is born of a mediocre Goosebumps book called Chicken, Chicken. There's a part in the book where the protagonist, slowly shapeshifting into a chicken, rips all his feathers out every morning in an attempt to slow the transformation. The book isn't really about that but it stuck with me for a good two decades until, stuck in the house for two months at the beginning of Covid, I wrote Angel.
Void Princess and The princess in the Tower are both me musing on the old 'princess kidnapped by a dragon' trope. I get really fixated on this trope for some reason; I have four or five others swimming about in my head that aren't full stories ready for the page yet. Wasting Time is just the song Pushin' the Speed of Light, World Builder was written in a fever right after watching Jacob Geller's The Shape of Infinity, Copykate was initially going to be a SAYER fanfic but required enough alterations to the setting that it worked better as a story of its own. The inspiration is out there, the ideas are out there. It's just a matter of practice to turn them into stories.
3) I try to avoid scenes that are hard for me to depict, but this isn't always possible. I'm aphantasiac and struggle a lot with scenes that have a lot of heavy visual elements. Scenes where there's a lot going on that needs to be fairly precisely depicted are tricky, too.
One particularly difficult scene for me was a fight scene in Time to Orbit: Unknown. There's about six people in a small room fighting over the fate of a bunch of other people who are not present, and the reader needs to be kept up to date on the physical positions/activity/intentions of all the combatants, the villain explaining what he's doing and why (lying), the protagonist figuring out that he's lying, the physical condition (injuries, being restrained, et cetera) of all of the combatants, and the fate of the half of the crew not in the room, all with enough detail that the reader can understand the stakes, consequences, and enough of the moment-to-moment logic of the fight that nobody's decisions are confusing. The whole thing is very fast paced and... it's a lot. It's always a difficult balance in these scenes because you want to be detailed enough to keep the reader following everything they want to follow, but you don't want to dramatically slow down the story by describing every detail. If you're using a limited viewpoint, it's a blessing and a curse; you can avoid narrating the stuff your character can't see or isn't paying attention to, but you also have to find a way to get across information that your character might not be able to see, either by forcing them to see it or by having it conveyed in some other way in the scene. With busy scenes like this, I like to work backwards -- decide what specifically the reader needs to know, decide what is needed to get the characters to the places I want them at the end of the scene, and write a scene with as little as possible in it except for those two things. Sometimes, communicating those two things requires a bit of setup.
In Curse Words, there's an ancient magic spell passed down a family line from parent to child. It's a communication spell that allows people to see through each others' eyes and hear through their ears. Before the existence of long-distance wireless communications, this sort of information transfer was enormously powerful; wars can be turned with that power, trade networks created or conquered. It made its family enormously powerful, to the point where they're the most powerful magical family in the world even in the time of the story, with the spell long buried and its advantage lost to an age of mobile phones and cameras. It's massively influential to the worldbuilding of the story.
I introduced it for one reason and one reason alone -- I knew that eventually, I would be writing a climax to the story where a lot of people were doing a lot of things in a lot of different locations, and the protagonist was only going to be in one of those places. And I knew that I was going to need some way to tell the audience what the fuck was happening while he was running around in caves and shit.

Hobie was completely unaware of what was happening to you when he swung down to the city, stumbling as he fell onto the ground. The bomb had started multiple fires in the surrounding buildings, and he quickly went around, webbing open the fire hydrants in the streets and eventually calming the fires down enough for him to go and save the civilians trapped beneath the rubble.
He was doing really well too, pushing the rubble up, grabbing the people one by one and swinging them to safer places before sending them home. The only problem was, the person who set the bomb off was nowhere in sight.
That was, until he heard that quiet chuckle he hated so much. His spider-sense immediately flared and he crouched back, ready to pounce on the first glimpse of the Goblin he saw. "Goblin! Show yourself!" He said, seething with anger as he waited for the masked man to show up.
And then, his expression dropped when instead of the Goblin appearing in front of him, you did. You were shaking your head, eyes silently begging him not to approach you as you walked out from behind the rubble. Of course, he didn't listen, immediately rushing over to you. "What happen-"
He was cut off as his spider-sense flared once again and he leapt up, just barely dodging one of the Goblin's many trick knives. His eyes narrowed as he finally caught sight of the Goblin, who rushed right past Hobie on his hoverboard, grabbing you in the process before heading towards the building that'd exploded, half of it turned to rubble.
Hobie followed as quickly as he could. "Let her go!" He exclaimed, shooting a web towards the Goblin, which the man promptly dodged. "Make me."
Once Hobie got to the top, he lost sight of you and the Green Goblin once again. "Y/N!" He called out desperately, furiously turning his head around as he scanned his surroundings for any sight of you. "Goblin, where are you?!"
"I see you've made yourself a friend. A sidekick, even." Hobie watched as the Goblin appeared from the shadows, slowly walking with a knife in his hand, that same wide smile on his face. "Congratulations, Spider-punk."
"What did you do with her?" He asked angrily, holding his arms up threateningly at the Goblin, ready to shoot his webs at any moment. "Where is she?!"
The Goblin simply chuckled in response, taking a deep, obvious breath. "It's quite a nice night, isn't it?"
"Cut the crap and tell me where she is!"
"Oh?" The Goblin raised an eyebrow. "Have you run out of jokes already? What happened to the little quips I love so much?"
"Give me back my friend." Hobie said coldly. He shot a web towards the Goblin but the man simply swat it out of the way with his knife, cutting through the web like it was nothing and standing up straight. "No."
Hobie's expression drooped slightly. "Please. I'll do anything." He pleaded, eyes widening. "Just let her go. Please."
"Anything?" The Goblin chuckled, bringing his knife up to his face and tapping it on his lips. "Then why don't you show me your face, Spider-punk?" He suggested, his smile widening.
Hobie hesitated for a moment. "Bring her out first." The Goblin tilted his head to the side slightly. "Fine."
A whirring sound caught Hobie's attention and he watched in horror as you were brought into the light, tied back to the hoverboard while you struggled. You were shaking your head furiously, eyes wide as you let out muffled grunts, your mouth covered by rope. "Y/N-"
"Get close to her, and I'll set off the bombs."
Hobie backed away slightly, the bombs on the hoverboard catching his attention. If he tried anything, the Goblin would set them off, and you'd be killed. You had tears in your eyes as you continued to struggle and the sight made Hobie's heart twist.
"It's gonna be okay." He said quietly, looking back towards the Goblin. "You want me to take my mask off? I'll take it off. But you have to promise to let her go."
The Goblin nodded, putting his hands behind his back as he watched curiously, to see what Hobie would do. Hobie slowly reached towards his mask, and pulled it off. You let out a gasp of protest, but he ignored you. He dropped the mask on the floor and looked up at the Goblin.
The Goblin stared back at Hobie for a moment, processing the sight. He probably hadn't been expecting his enemy to be so...young. "Let her go." Hobie said quietly. He felt extremely vulnerable at the moment and was itching to pull his mask back up.
The Goblin obliged and the ropes untied themselves, causing you to collapse to the floor. "Spider-man!" you exclaimed, getting up so you could approach him, but the Goblin stopped you, pointing his knife in your direction. "Not a single step."
"You said you'd let her go. So let her go!" Hobie was exasperated and he pointed his fist towards the Goblin. "I let her go. But we're not done." The Goblin replied, the smile slowly returning to his face. "I don't care that you're a kid. You're going to fight me." He said coldly.
"Fine." Hobie huffed out, putting his fists up. You couldn't do anything but helplessly watch as a fight ensued, with Hobie dodging the knives and bombs being thrown at him while shooting his own webs towards the Goblin. The scuffle was causing the building to shake and rubble kept falling.
"Just surrender!" The Goblin screamed out, lunging towards Hobie who barely dodged, covered in blood and scratches at this point. "NO." He leapt up, guitar in hand as he brought it smashing down onto the Goblin, causing him to be flung back. The Goblin cursed under his breath, looking up at the winning vigilante who was approaching him again.
And then, he decided to use his last hope.
The Goblin pounced towards you, using his gadgets to tie you up once again. "No!" You exclaimed, struggling and extremely annoyed at this point. This was the second time he'd caught you, but it wasn't like you could fight back. You kicked at the Goblin as he grabbed onto your throat, holding you up.
"You little-" He muttered. Hobie stood back slightly, eyes wide as he tried to calm the Goblin down. "Wait-wait you said you'd let her go. Please. Please let her go!"
The Goblin tightened his grip around your throat, effectively choking you as he held you above the edge of the building, a dangerous glint to his eyes. "You've ruined everything I've worked for, Spider-man. So I'm going to ruin you."
"Please." Hobie begged, putting his hands up. "Please, don't do this. Let her go." He whispered.
The Goblin looked back with a smile. "Gladly."
A blur of events followed. You felt yourself being flung off the building, your heart and stomach dropping as gravity did its job, pulling you towards the far-away ground. Hobie lunged after you, arms outstretched in an attempt to grab you before you reached the ground. Your hand reached out towards him and he shot a web towards you.
But before you could grab it, he was knocked out of the way by the Goblin's hoverboard. The last thing you remembered was dread creeping up your stomach and through your body as you accepted your fate, realizing he wasn't going to be able to catch you. You fell.
"NO!" Hobie yelled out, fighting to get back to his feet. He leapt towards the Goblin, tackling him in a fit of fury. He got on top of the dazed Goblin who was struggling to catch his breath, trying to push Hobie off of him. Hobie pulled his guitar off his back, holding it above his head.
And then, he slammed it down. But once wasn't enough. He brought the guitar down again, and again, and again. He wasn't even thinking at this point, he was simply acting on instinct, stabbing the Goblin long after he was already dead.
Eventually, his movements slowed down, and Hobie dropped the guitar, looking down at the mangled mess that had used to be the face of the man he hated most in the world. His chest was rising up and down rapidly, his heart rate faster than it'd ever been before.
Hobie slowly got up, looking around as he tried to collect his senses. He stumbled towards the edge of the building, looking down to where you fell, a flicker of hope flashing across his face.
Maybe, just maybe...
He jumped down to the ground, letting out a groan as his foot slipped and he fell onto his side. "Y/N? Y/N?!" He called out, silently begging for you to respond. "Come on, where are you!? You're here, you have to be..."
A slight shine caught his eye. He felt his heart drop as his eyes adjusted to the dark and he caught sight of a body. It was lying there, head tilted slightly back, completely unmoving. He slowly approached the body, feeling the hot tears begin to build up in his eyes. "Y/N?" He whispered softly.
His gaze dropped to the figure's hand, where the shine he'd caught a glimpse of had come from. The person's wrist had a small slab of metal encircling it, connecting back to their palm. Web-shooters.
"No..." He whispered, falling to his knees and turning the body over slightly. "No, no, no, no..."
It was you.
And you were dead.
The tears began to fall as he looked down at you, lifeless with your eyes closed. "No, please, no-" He whispered, swallowing back a hot lump in his throat as he pulled you into his arms, shaking gently. "Wake up, come on, dove, wake up-"
He caressed your face as gently as he could, running his fingers over your skin and slowly feeling the warmth disappear under his cold touch. "Please. Please don't go." he choked out, quiet sobs escaping his lips as he held you close, burying his face in your neck while he cried.
"Dove..." he whispered, looking back down at your body. His tears had fallen onto your face, making it seem as though you were crying too, the drops slipping down your cheeks and onto the hard, cold floor. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
He looked down at you, shaking his head and sniffling. "This is all my fault. I'm so sorry, dove." His voice broke. His hand rubbed against your cheek gently, wiping the droplets away.
"I love you." he whispered. The words simply fell out of his mouth and he was unable to stop himself at this point. "I love you so much." His sobs were sounding more like gasps as he ran his fingers through your hair, shaking his head. "I love you, please come back. Dove? Dove, please."
But his pleading was useless. You weren't coming back. You were gone and there was nothing he could do about it. "I love you." He whispered again. "I should've told you. I'm sorry." The sound of sirens were approaching in the distance, causing Hobie to flinch slightly. He couldn't stay any longer. He had to go.
But before he left, he had one last thing to do. One final gesture.
He slowly leaned down, and pressed his lips to your cold ones, just for a moment, before pulling back and crying into your neck. "I'm sorry."
After a moment of silence, he gently laid you back down, the tears still streaming down his face, before he finally stood up. "Goodbye."
He shot his web towards the closest building and swung away right as the ambulances arrived, along with the police cars and officers. He wiped his tears with the back of his gloved hand before he pulled his mask back on and disappeared into the distance, not leaving behind a single trace, besides one last whisper that left his lips.
"Bye, dove."

I noticed that Aegon's fans are divided into two teams - the first one sees him as a completely heartless, almost psychopath, the other one like in this analysis.
https://www.tumblr.com/very-straight-blog/750648583572881408/it-really-tires-me-how-some-fans-try-to-make-aegon?source=share
What do you think about it and how do you see him?
Basically I've written a few things on him already; here, here and here as well as the many web weavings i have on him hihi <3
I see him as a super nuanced character; he is deeply (and I mean deeply) broken. That's why I love him, there's so much there in terms of characterization, even with the little screentime he had.
Tumblr media
He is so desperate to be loved but destined to be hated by everyone around him (thank you tgc for this quote, lives rent-free in my mind forever)
Rhaenyra sees him as a threat (she has this fear that her father will replace her with him, someday)
Alicent deeply loves him but is too hard on him (she genuinely thinks all her sons will die if she doesn't make him king; he needs to be strong. strong for them, strong for her.
Aemond is resentful towards him. Resentful of his weakness. He has everything Aemond ever wanted. Why isn't he happy? He would be happy and grateful (he wouldn't).
Viserys wanted Baelon. He is not Baelon.
Forced to marry his sister, he never wanted this for them (in canon,,,, I'll live in my little helaegon delulu land)
He is the kicked dog of the family. He is the only one we see being physically reprimanded. It happens time and time again, this was a deliberate choice by the writers. All of Alicent's fears and grudges and love (ugly, desperate love, but still love) towards Rhaenyra are loaded onto him -> I wished we saw them interact, they are so alike :(
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What does a kicked dog do? He runs back, tail between his legs. He tries so hard but somehow it doesn't work. He feels like a failure, he runs off, avoids the pain. He doesn't want to face his reality. He drinks, he indulges in anything that will make him forget
I did not ask for this. I've done everything you've asked me to, and I try so... I try so hard, but it will never be enough for you or father.
He acts out, engages in super self-destructive behaviour -> remember when the brothel madam said that Aegon doesn't go to nice places? It's like he is punishing himself.
Tumblr media
I'll also have to speak about his assault; kind of a baffling writing choice to introduce him as a r*pist but it is in line with his characterization. He is a prince, of course he can take anything he wants, right? It was just harmless fun, right?
This behaviour doesn't stem from cruelty (like it did with Ramsay or Joffrey) it comes from the entitlement he feels. He might be the scapegoat of the family, but he is still a spoiled prince -> I actually love this about his character too. Purely good/purely victimized characters are BORING! He is interesting, there's both evil and good in him, he is so extremely complex I want to SCREAM.
I can see him going on an arc, not repent, but change. Grow into the man who can sway the people of Dragonstone to his side, grow into the role of king. Become the type of man who would rather live in pain than dull his senses with milk of the poppy. HIS ARC WILL BE INSANE!!!!!
Tumblr media
I know a lot of fans want him to be less whiny, less pathetic, less grey… but honestly? He is perfect the way he is in the show. I genuinely love how he is written (I would've wished to see some interaction with his kiddos and Rhaenyra, that is all lmao) and I know he will be amazing in season 2.

Question abt drawing: been trying to attempt learning how to draw forever but I always have trouble getting over the obstacle of having to learn/study things like anatomy and shading, which then causes me to stop drawing and have a harder time picking it back up. I know it's important for improving your art and yourself as an artist but I can't help but see it as tedious and overwhelming, especially the anatomy since it's more on the science side of things and science is not my thing lol. Do you have any advice on how to get over it or work thru it?
i think there's a couple facets to this question. firstly i'd recommend you consider what exactly your end goal is in learning how to draw: do you specifically want to be able to produce anatomically accurate figures and true-to-life shading, or do you just want to be able to make something for fun that looks good to you? one of the most helpful things I ever learned at art school was that accuracy doesn't matter if it looks good. 99% of my art isn't strictly anatomically accurate, and part of that is stylization, but even when i'm doing realistic figure drawings i like to lengthen limbs and exaggerate curves in order to make my drawings look better. So if your only real goal with art is to make something that looks good and enjoy the process, my first piece of advice would be to stop worrying so much about stuff like perfect accuracy! if you use references and keep pushing yourself, the skill and understanding you're looking for will come naturally with time. before I was ever classically trained, I got pretty far just by drawing my favorite characters in different poses and situations over and over again, and that experience laid the groundwork for when classical training did become available to me. Just because you're not necessarily doing serious figure studies doesn't mean you're not getting valuable practice--what it means is that you're having FUN while you're practicing, and having fun with your art is the most important thing!!!
Secondly, you mentioned anatomy being on the science side of things, which suggests to me that you may be looking in the wrong places when trying to do more serious anatomical study. if you look up 'anatomy' or anything similar on a web search engine, you're likely going to get a lot of very complex scientific illustrations. and while those aren't necessarily devoid of artistic value (I took a class all about scientific anatomy for artists last semester and it was GREAT) for a beginner who's just trying to learn how to make a body look like a body, they're not what you're looking for. what is going to be much more helpful for you are sites like line of action or quickposes. these sites are basically repositories of figure drawing images, and you can set them to automatically switch to a new image after a certain interval of time. if you really, desperately want to improve your anatomy specifically, what I recommend is going to one of these sites, setting it to the shortest interval possible, and trying to copy the pose as closely as you can before time is up. this might sound crazy, since the shortest interval is usually somewhere between 30-60 seconds, which obviously isn't enough to get much down. but what this will do is force you to look at how these models' bodies are constructed and translate it onto the page quickly and without overthinking it. be warned, your first maybe hundred of these are going to look like shit. but if you do this enough, you're eventually going to gain an intrinsic sense for 1. how a body works and 2. the easiest way for you personally to construct a body when drawing it. even without knowing the scientific names and anatomical rules, you're going to get a FEEL for how things work, which is much more important and useful to you as a character artist.
Finally, i think the most important thing to remember is that no art is bad art, even if you're not satisfied with the end product. when you're first starting out as an artist, you're going to make things that don't look right and you're going to be frustrated with yourself because of it. i vividly remember crying over a sketchbook at maybe age 11 or 12 because I was so upset i couldn't put exactly what was in my head on the page. Skill comes with time and practice and that is a frustrating fact of life, but no time spent doing something you enjoy and are passionate about is wasted. It might look bad now but you are laying the groundwork for your future success, and someday you're probably going to look back on your past work and say "I can't believe I thought this looked bad back then. for my age and my skill level i was doing AMAZING." And as previously mentioned, it's a lot less discouraging when something looks bad if you had fun making it, so try to have FUN with your art. draw things you enjoy and are passionate about and don't worry if it looks bad. focus on the experience, the skill will come in time. you've got this!!

i remember the shift, when i went from being "some random kid online who likes to draw" to "popular fanartist within a small community". it was on the fan forum for a webcomic nearly a decade ago. i had been posting my art on tumblr for a couple years already, usually getting between 0 and 15 notes on each, with a couple exceptions here and there. as you can probably imagine, being an awkward queer and autistic teen had never made me feel particularly popular before. i wasn't really lonely, personally, though many of my peers are and were, but the idea of many people actively wanting to be my friend and thinking i was genuinely cool - that was incredibly novel.
i have always loved getting attention for my work and find people interested in what i have to say. like, who doesn't? it was a very fulfilling and inspiring experience when it started happening to me on a regular basis, to the point where i could expect it. i went from being constantly apologetic about how annoying i imagined myself to be to others, to feeling confident that at least some people were excited to have me around. absolutely revolutionary to realize that people weren't just pretending to like me, they liked me for realsies, and that putting myself out there and being sincere and genuine in my enthusiasm and interest was actually a positive trait many people valued. wild!!!!!!!!
when you come from a place like that, of course you try to be everyone's friend. that's the scarcity mindset. you have to hold on to every friendship ever offered to you because it's such a rare and precious thing and you don't know when or even if it might happen again. but if you get Popular, well, at some point you learn that you can only nurture so many friendships at once, and that you can't click with everyone. like, it only makes sense. but it sucks!! learning the necessity of rejecting people and letting them down is a harrowing journey, but one that must be made.
there's many deeply lonely people out there, especially online, a space of Connection. connections to other people are so good and necessary and being lonely is an awful thing to be. this means there's a lot of people who can't even imagine not wanting more friends, let alone not be constantly looking for some. it's always a bit of a tragedy when a Very Lonely Person tries to attach themselves to someone Socially Overencumbered, as that's highly unlikely to end satisfyingly for anyone involved.
anyway, i think capital f Fame is like that, but times a hundred thousand. it's deeply fascinating to me how Fame is treated as this deeply aspirational state when it's proven again and again to be a cruel and abusive mistress. like, i understand - don't we all want some attention, some validation, for someone to recognise us on the street with stars in their eyes, like OH you're the COOL PERSON who did the COOL THING and i want nothing more than a HUG and a SELFIE and also i made you this HAND MADE GIFT and PAINTED A PORTRAIT OF YOU... that's the dream, isn't it!! to be recognized for your skill, to be admired, desired! THAT'S WHAT EVERYONE WANTS, ISN'T IT.
but it isn't.
there's a limit to everything. there's a whole spectrum of Getting Attention and Validation between "literally everybody ignores you and everything you do" and "paparazzi follow you everywhere you go" - and i can promise that you can find a lot of fulfilment and joy on the lower end of that scale. it's difficult to explain sometimes, especially to people who get No Attention - it's like telling someone who is starving that the most expensive restaurant in town isn't really worth the hassle, a good affordable sandwich will make you so much happier, trust me. like maybe it's just personal preference and what i can personally tolerate! but i had merely a whiff, a crumb of what they serve at that place, and it's Not That Good. easy for me to say huh!!!!
i'm basically a nobody on the wider web, but i've still had my fair share of unpleasant stranger interactions both of the rude and overly familiar variations. i've been treated as a commodity rather than a person. i've been put on a pedestal and dragged through the mud by the same people. it kinda sucks!! and i don't want to tell people that they should never ever put themselves and their art out there because people might be cruel, because that shouldn't be the expectation! yet for some reason, it is!!!! people experiencing Fame have to deal with all kinds of inhumanely horrible things literally no human person is equipped to experience. many people say that's the price people pay for fame, but that's said by people who haven't experienced even a Fraction of the stochastic terrorism an Audience can do to you if they choose. not all attention is good attention.
i know none of this is a fresh new hot take. i know we all know stalking is unethical and traumatic. but i am still so fascinated by the divide between people who don't understand why anyone would reject any form of adoration and those who have to work very, very hard to keep their boundaries intact.

Does anyone else ever think about how fucked up it is that the setup of Escape the Night has us talking about who "deserved" it?
You see it in the fandom, and in the show itself, too — where there's discussions about who "pulled their weight" or who did the most for the team, with the implication that those who didn't deserve...what? A horrible, lonely death? To never see their families and loved ones again?
"I'm going to vote for [X], because they didn't pull their weight," is literally saying that someone being foolish, oblivious, and/or lazy is a mistake that should be punished by death.
Or the fandom, as they say that, "[X] wasn't doing very well, so they deserved to be put into that challenge."
And, look, I do not legitimately believe that anyone in the fandom or the show would ever be okay with someone dying because they couldn't figure out a riddle — I'm one of the ones screeching about how your fannish participation is not morality, and what you enjoy in fandom, or say about fictional characters (or fictional personas of real people) is not, in any way, reflective of your actual beliefs. Let me be abundantly clear: it doesn't matter to me who you think "deserved" to die, because nobody died, and at the end of the day, it's a fake web series.
...But that doesn't change that I think Escape the Night is a perfect encapsulation of the way that manipulation works on humans. As they say,
“1. Man is a MORAL animal. 2. You can get human beings to do anything — IF you convince them it is moral. 3. You can convince human beings anything is moral.” — Frank Bidart
In ETN, and especially in Season 3, the guests were convinced that voting people to die was the morally correct option. After all, world annihilation (and their own life) was on the line. Isn't that worth a little blood on your hands?
But it's hard to convince your average person that killing other people (or sentencing them to death, I suppose), if those people are otherwise innocent of severe crimes, is moral. So the situation sets it up using two things that are highly prized: merit and fear.
The fear is the easier option to discuss; it's the same point I made earlier regarding world annihilation and their own lives. (And, of course, it's easier to control scared people than it is to control people who have their wits about them. Manipulation 101.)
Merit, of course, is the entire point of this post. Many of us, I would hazard a guess, grew up with the American justice system, wherein death is an appropriate punishment for certain things. In ETN, that category is just stretched a little wider. Someone missed a clue? Well, they must be stupid — so they deserve to die.
And yes, I am defining voting someone in as tacitly saying that they deserve to die, because that is the unspoken consequence that could happen to anyone who was voted in.
Anyways, back to merit. Before every death challenge, barring the special ones, like the Witch's Challenge in S3, there's literally a discussion where the guests are supposed to defend themselves and prove that they helped. And if the court of public opinion decides you didn't? Well, off to the chopping block with you, my friend — your performance was unsatisfactory, and therefore you deserve to be beaten to death/buried alive/whatever terrible fate awaits them that episode.
But isn't that absurd, when you think about it like that? It's like having a shitty coworker that never responds to emails and takes 45 minute lunches. That's basically it. That's what these people are dying for.
Literally everyone on the show is guilty of this, even fan favorites like Matthew, so it's not like I'm trying to call guests out, or anything. I just think it's a really fascinating look into the way that humans can be manipulated into being willing to kill other humans.
Maybe someday I'll write something more in-depth on this.

Hey guys! It me, "The Magnus Institute is a part of not just the Eye but the Web" girl, here with some thoughts and a new theory for the consideration of the Red String Comity. Come step into a curated (for your safety and sanity) corner of my mind as I walk you through my thought process: First, some further evidence that the Web was tied to the Magnus Institute in TMA all along: in MAG193, it's mentioned that Elias doesn't remember ever sending his CV to the Magnus Institute. Web. In Mag056, when Martin confesses he lied on his CV, he mentions that "for some reason" his lie about parapsychology got him an interview with Elias. Now, I always assumed that this was because Elias/ Jonah knew his secret and the Eye likes secrets, but like...How did Martin know to apply there in the first place? Why was that the only place where he got an interview?
Now I'd like to bring your attention to the below sticker. I have this same sticker on my laptop because as someone on the Ace spectrum John and Martin's relationship is everything to me. For anyone who needs a refresher, the quote is something John says to Martin in S5. Obviously the teacup represents Martin. But let's talk about that thing coming out of the teacup, hm? The thing that's supposed to represent John? I've always tried to rationalize it as "lol it's just some kind if Eye creature, that's not a spider..." but guys....that's totally a spider, right?
Tumblr media
Now here's why this is so huge: this isn't fanart someone turned into a sticker. This is a sticker from Rusty Quill's very own RedBubble shop.
It's official merch. Official merch "designed and sold by RustyQuill" represents John as a spider creature covered in eyes.
They've been telling us this the entire time guys! Now, I need to give @amanda-519 credit for setting my mind down this next path. These are the tags they used when they reblogged my previous post on this topic:
Tumblr media
Now, this got me thinking about all of the Avatars we met in TMA and like....
We know from Mag 102 that the Corruption can manifest as unhealthy relationships, which I would argue would include infatuation and obsession.
And like....was Jude's infatuation with Agnes really all that different? It's what drew her into The Desolation in the first place, so could we not argue that she was a mix of the Desolation and the Corruption? (Like....the destructiveness of infatuation? Corruption leading to Desolation?) And like I've always assumed the reason why Oliver became an Avatar of the End is because of his association with Graham and what happened to him resulting in Oliver being touched by The End, but like...does that actually make sense? They were already broken up and he had 0 involvement with Graham being taken by the Not Them. But like Graham's circumstances are also kinda weblike, no? The Web includes the fear of being forced to do something against one's own will, and Graham went through some pretty extreme measures to try and escape his powers. And then his efforts to escape ultimately lead to the events that turned him into a full fledged Avatar. Was Graham also a part of the web? Or were the circumstances of him becoming an Avatar of the End basically the result of him being the Web's victim?
And the whole concept of the Unknowing is pretty weird, huh? Like...I can't be the only one that looks at what happens to people who get trapped in the Unknowing and thinks that it feels awfully "Spiral-like" right? (or, for that matter, that The Desolation has some elements of the Stranger to it).
John Amherst was an Avatar of The Corruption, but unlike Jane, whose main interest seemed to be spreading and expanding the Flesh Hive, Amherst's form of Corruption seemed awfully End-flavored. When we first meet him in TMA, it's at a Nursing home where his spread of infection results in the death of all of the residents. In Mag68, Tale of a Field Hospital, the accounts about Amherst are all about him dying and then showing up again; in the second story, the people who end up in the bed Amherst is supposed to be in keep dying; the statement giver who gave the book to the Institute dies a few days later after, having cut himself on the pages of the book. The illness he spreads in the town where he ultimately dies kills the victims horrifically. The bug he is most affiliated with are flies, which are known to flock to dead bodies and are therefore associated with death. Okay now after all of that word vomit, here's the epiphany that I had and the actual point of this post:
For some reason my mind kept straying back to Jude and her infatuation with Agnes and how that might have made her part of the Corruption, and the different ways the Corruption might have been involved in other ways, and then I remembered that theory going around that in TMP the Fears are becoming Obsessions. This theory never sat well with me because in TMA, all of the Avatars were obsessed with something. Most of them were obsessed with their Entity and bringing it into the world. Jude, as previously mentioned, was obsessed with Agnes. Simon was obsessed with the sky. Mike was obsessed with freeing himself of the Spiral manifestation that'd been tormenting him since childhood. Oliver was obsessed with running away from his powers and John was obsessed with finding out what the fuck was going on. There were also plenty of non-avatar characters that were obsessed; The guy in Mag90: Body Builder was obsessed with his body and making it look how he wanted to. The guy from Mag102 Nesting Instinct and his petite scarabée. I could go on.
And then it clicked: Obsession is a form of Corruption. We know that the Corruption can manifest as unhealthy love and companionship. But what is "unhealthy love" if not a form of obsession? Obsession sinks its teeth into you and takes over your life and can lead you to your own destruction. In other words, its corrupts you. Which is exactly what happens in pretty much all of the statements we've gotten so far in TMP. The Corruption is up to something. Idk what or why, but I think that in the same way the Web's influence was all over TMA if you know to look for it, the Corruption is all over TMP. Is it just a season 1 thing? Is it going to be the Big Player in the whole series? Are the Avatars (?) we've encountered so far--Ink5oul, The Merchant, Movie Theater Man-- part of the Corruption as well as the more obvious Entities they serve-- The Flesh, The End/ The Slaughter, The Eye--or are they only servants of those respective Entities and the Corruption is swooping in later and poisoning things?

Update: This is really outdated with how the au is currently, will make a new post at some point
Hi folks I'm back with another weird au, because I have no self control. What au is it this time?
A "swap" au.
It's really weird because half of them came from me rolling a d20 and praying i can make them make sense so please bare with me.
With that, let's start with -
torment (Originally The Chosen One):
- Chosen "swapped" with KING LMAOOO (and a bit of Dark)
- torment was made first, and was tormented for a long time by Alan.
- Alan made another stickman (FREEDOM MENTION) as his friend. They became close (almost canon Dark close) before Alan deleted Freedom since he was trying to help torment escape.
- this was the last straw for them as torment proceeded to trick Alan into unlocking his chains and then broke the computer, allowing him to escape.
-he was still pissed and kinda depressed over Freedom's death so he continued his rampage across the web, slowly trying to find a way to take revenge against all cursors permanently
- At some point he meets this version of Dark, adopts him and set off to become the greatest terrorists the outernet has ever seen
- HE NEARLY ACCOMPLISH HIS GOAL TOO, DESPITE FIGHTING ALAN, TDL, CG+TSC+VIC, AND MORE. THIS CRAZY MAN-
- I haven't fully figured out how torment plans to carry out their plan but there will be a "King sees Purple as his son" moment for them, except this time it's Dark. Speaking of Dark-
The Second Fool (Originally The Dark Lord):
- TSF "swapped" with Purple (I'm sobbing why did the dice decide this)
- Alan made him next, meaning to replace torment with a more cunning but weaker version of him.
- He gave TSF a mission code (still deciding on the exact one) which basically gaslights him into thinking his only purpose in life is to fight Alan.
- So when Alan deletes the poor dude, he feels unworthy and shit like that
- At some point, he manages to escape the Void and ends up in the outer net, where torment finds him and picks him up
- torment convinced TSF to join him, and TSF, thinking this would show Alan that he's a good enough threat, agrees
- during their terrorism arc, TSF slowly realises that terrorising people probably isn't the right thing to do and that this wouldn't get Alan's attention back to him so he tries to stop torment. Torm, the revengeful dumbass, doesn't listen.
- at some point during this au's version of showdown, TSF tried stopping Torm himself, but got punted away before eventually getting blasted by Torm's fire (I'm still figuring out the exact details bare with me)
- He got saved by one of the TSCs after torment found his unconscious body
Wait, one of the TSCs?
Yep! (Because I'm so fucking tired and I think this would be funny), we have 2 of them!
Meet, The Chosen Arrival! (Originally The Second Coming):
- TSC swapped with Dark (kinda)
- an accident (IM SO SORRY I DID NOT KNOW HOW ELSE TO PHRASE IT)
- it kinda follows canon, Alan doodled this little guy, left them alone for a while and when he came back Arrival n co. was messing around on Facebook.
- however, this time, when Alan deletes CG and then Arrival, Arrival went fucking ballistic and unleashed his powers on the pc, nearly destroying it in the process
- in a panic, Alan drew his last stick on accident again, this time being:
The Peaceful Current!! (Originally victim):
- Current is swapped with Second!!
- Current has this really calming effect to them for some reason. To this day no one can figure out how she manages to calm Arrival down.
- when they were created, the tab she was in had the wall between it and Arrival's broken down, and Arrival crashed in, planning to destroy everything in the computer.
- but when they saw Current, they kinda just froze. Like they were buffering. Current, for whatever reason, decided to hug Arrival. Arrival then crashed, breaking out into sobs as the two kinda just stood there.
- Alan tried deleting Arrival at that moment of vulnerability, but Current, seeing his cursor move, started speaking and pleading for Alan to hear them out. Alan, shocked to find out that the sticks were actually sentient and not just little desktop creatures he could fight against, heard them out.
- from here it continues from canon, Alan letting the gang chill on his pc, Current found out that she was a great artist, and Arrival decided to start learning how to make tools and stuff for CG to defend themselves.
Now you might be wondering, who could be the victim in this story. Now bare with me,
Purple.
- little shit got orphaned so hard she became spiteful and decided to start a company just to prove her dad wrong.
- company got way too successful and she let the power go to her head.
- one day she saw a video of Chosen and decided she needed him to be in her team. So she decided to kidnap Dark.
(Idk what else to add I'm still figuring stuff out)
Alright, you might reply, but if purple is busy being victim, then who's taking their place in AvM?
You see, this is where the "swap" part of this au kinda starts veering away. Because, haha,
It's Gold.
- Basically what happened was when Gold got stuck in Minecraft, he kinda became a Minecraft entity like Herobrine. So he just wandered around the world aimlessly before coming across a village.
- AvM 9&10 happened and Purple betrayal happens but this time it's Gold and he didn't go for the egg because he wanted to prove it to his dad, but because he heard rumours around the egg and wanted to test it out.
Now you're thinking, alright, if Gold's purple, then King has to be someone else, right?
To that I show you an image of President Haltmann and Susie from Planet Robobot. Iykyk. (Yes King is still King, he just has amnesia and tbh Gold doesn't really look the same after the fair.)
I'm still deciding on whether I want to swap CG and Mercs personalities but that's all I got for now!!

A Timeline of Events in the Artemis Fowl Series
Tumblr media
If anyone's interested, I did do an actual analysis for where I pulled some of these dates from. But because I cannot type succinctly to save my life, it's 5,000 words long, so that's below the cut. I also put the timeline there again, but in three separate images, so hopefully they load well enough to be fully legible if the above isn't.
A thousand thanks to @sadbitchapologist and @zahnie for their help and advice with this, despite neither of them having any more than the barest interest in the series and therefore having no clue what I was on about. Thanks also to @orangerosebush for fielding completely out-of-the-blue questions about the French school system, so I didn't have to attempt to navigate web search results to figure out what mandatory gym classes were like for the sole purpose of plotting Luc's birthday on here.
An Analysis of the Timelines in the Artemis Fowl Series
A Brief Introduction
The Artemis Fowl series is made up of eight books covering a range of years and events. I wanted to see how accurate the timelines present in the books were, as well as try and plot out some other details implied in the novels but not explicitly stated, to have a better understanding of the overall world-building. To that end, I went through the series and made the above timeline. I colour-coded it based on the relevance of the specific items to certain categories, namely Humans, Fairies, Villains, and the Series itself. This does mean that some things could have fit into multiple categories. For instance, you will see some items involving Opal categorized as Fairy-Specific (such as her college years, as those are fairly neutral to the main plot or her villainy), Villain-Specific (such as her setting up her emergency fund, as that is mostly related to her schemes as opposed to relevant to her existence as a fairy, or part of the main plot of the series), and Plot-Specific (such as her opening the Berserker Gate, the primary plot point for the final book).
Before we really delve into things though, we should establish the baseline assumptions I was working with. Firstly, I am only using the original series. I have not used anything written in The Fowl Twins trilogy, given that those books seem to ret-con a considerable amount of the original information, and that is far too many headaches to give myself. Any supplemental series information, such as the short stories found in The Artemis Fowl Files, or anything from interviews is also not included. The premise here is: using just the original books, what is the event timeline of the world? The second thing we need to establish is that I am using the North American releases of the novels. I did make notes on where each bit of information comes from, but there isn’t really a citation style for this kind of thing, so I’m not sure how relevant that is. The third assumption is that the first book takes place the year it was originally published. According to my copy, the original publication was 2001, with the first American paperback edition coming out in 2002, and the first mass market paperback being released in 2003. This means our starting point is in 2001.
For sake of clarity, this analysis will start with setting the dates of the books and continue on from there.
The Basics of The Books
With that out of the way, let’s talk about the first book, Artemis Fowl (AF). It is actually not until the very end of the book that we get a solid answer for when it takes place. It’s only in the last few pages of the novel that Angeline Fowl leaves her attic room after all the plot points are tied up and announces that it is Christmas Day. This might be cause for concern – Angeline had not previously been established as a particularly reliable narrator – but given that we are asked to believe that Holly’s ‘feel better’ mood booster worked, and that neither Butler nor Artemis balk at or question the pronouncement that is Christmas Day, we’ll accept that it’s true and move on. This means that, with Butler’s earlier announcement that he was stuck doing four months of stakeout, we can say with a fair amount of certainty that Artemis obtained and translated the Fairy Book in September 2001, and managed to capture a fairy in December of the same year.
Moving on to Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident (TAI), we are given a decent chunk of information, albeit spread out a bit. The first is the announcement that the ransom drop for Artemis Fowl I is to be held on the fourteenth. The fourteenth of what, you might ask? Well, we are told that Artemis is currently thirteen years old. Clearly, things are past September 1, 2002 (we know Artemis’s birthday is September 1 based on information in both the fifth and seventh books). We are also told that Luc Carrere has been trading with the goblins for six months, starting in July. That puts us in either December or January, but we can narrow it down further since Artemis gives us another helpful clue. He mentions they are not expecting to see the dawn while attempting to rescue his father in the Arctic. There are only a few latitudes on Earth where polar night (of any type) occurs, and at Murmansk, polar twilight occurs between December 10 – January 2. Combining all of this, we learn that TAI takes place December 14, 2002, give or take a few days to either side.
This can be corroborated by information in Book 3, Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code (TEC). After Holly heals Artemis Senior, we are told that it takes over two months for him to wake up. Since we are specifically told two months, as opposed to two and a half or three, we can conclude that the events of TEC take place in March 2003. Mulch gives us some information that confirms this. He was living in LA “less than four months ago,” and since he was conscripted to help with the events of TAI in December, a March plotline fits the bill. We are given further confirmation as well: Spiro mentions that Artemis will be fourteen in six months. A specific date for Artemis & Co.’s attack on Spiro’s Needle can be pulled from the throw-away line that Pex and Chips are “burying” Mulch on the full moon. A quick web search tells us that the full moon in March of 2003 takes place on March 14, and the rest of the events in the novel take place roughly two days to either side of that.
In Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception (TOD), the fourth book in the series, we are given several very clear indications of when the events take place. Firstly, Artemis is contemplating that at fourteen years and three months old, he is the youngest person to successfully obtain The Fairy Thief. Based on previously noted details that his birthday is in September, the events of TOD must take place in December of 2003. Additionally, we are told that things are the middle of winter and Opal has been in a coma for eleven months and counting as of the end of TAI, another December plot.
Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony (TLC) requires the most math and interpretation so far to figure out when it takes place. We know Artemis is still fourteen, so the main events clearly happen sometime between January 2004 and September 2004. Beyond that, we are using a fair amount of context clues. Artemis and Butler have evidently been traveling for four months looking for demons, so we are dealing with events in at least May. But that still leaves us several summertime months to work with, so to establish a timeline here, we will need to look forward a bit. In the sixth book, Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (TTP), it’s noted that Artemis is not yet fifteen, and has, on multiple occasions, spent the full moon in the study. Ergo, he’s spent at least a few months back from Hybras. If he has been back for two months and not yet turned fifteen, he would have had to have returned by July at the latest, and since he returns almost three years later than he leaves, we are looking at him returning in either May or June. This would have him disappearing to Hybras – and by extension, dealing with the earlier events in the book – in June, July, or August. After his conversation with Minerva, he notes to Butler that they “are planning a June wedding,” which wouldn’t make sense to say if they were currently in the month of June. From all of this, we can extrapolate that the first three-quarters of TLC take place in late July or early August 2004, with the triumphant return of our intrepid heroes occurring in June 2007.
As previously stated, TTP mentions that Artemis is still not fifteen, but is nearly there. He has also been home again for at least two months. This would put the events of the sixth book in August 2007. At least, the events set in the current time period. TTP does bring back time travel, and with it some problems. We are told that Artemis and Holly jump back nearly eight years to Artemis being ten and trying to fund searches for his missing father. This would put the events of the past in early 2000. However, other details presented regarding Artemis Senior’s disappearance, which we will discuss later, make that impossible. Artemis also admits, in TEC, that he was eleven when his father disappeared, not ten. If we take a bit of creative license with our interpretations and base the time-jump to the past on other presented information as opposed to the dates given in TTP, we can say that Holly and Artemis instead return to early 2001. This lines up with further details, such as the sinking of the Fowl Star (as calculated a few paragraphs down in this analysis) occurring in December of 2000, and the textual confirmation in TTP that it’s barely two months past that sinking when Artemis brokers the deal(s) regarding the silky sifaka lemur. Since, at the end of the day, the time jump impacts very little in the grand scheme of things, and the year 2001 actually fits in better with other textual evidence and events, that’s what I’m going with for this timeline.
The seventh book, Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex (TAC) gives us a very helpful base point! It takes place on Artemis’s fifteenth birthday, September 1. From our previous results on setting dates for book events, that would be September 1, 2007. The sections in which Butler and Juliet are fighting mesmerized wrestling fans and meeting up with Mulch are noted in the novel as happening “the day before,” which would fall on August 31, 2007.
Artemis Fowl: The Last Guardian (TLG), the eighth and final book in the series, creates some problems. If we assume that Artemis starts receiving treatment for his Atlantis Complex immediately after diagnosis in TAC¸ that would put him receiving treatment in September 2007. We are told he is certified as cured after six months. Yet we are also told that the rest of the events of the book take place in the week or so leading up to the Christmas holidays. Everything so far has said that the Artemis Fowl series follows the current calendar, in which case there is no way that six months can fit between September 1, 2007 and December 25, 2007. However, the only reference to Christmas is in two lines noting that the Fowl parents were planning on holidaying with their children on a foreign beach. If we simply say that six months have passed, and they are instead planning on spending the Irish school system’s spring holidays in the French Riviera, everything else lines up much better. So that’s what I’ve done. This would also put the resurrection of Artemis, after the events of the book and a further six months have passed, at roughly September of 2008. There is a pleasing symmetry to Artemis being born and then re-born in September, though if you want to get really technical and say the events of TLG take place during the 2008 March full moon as Opal claims (as noted in another web search as March 28), a six-month wait time for the clone to grow would put the resurrection in October. Still, there is something to be said for having a boy’s ghost haunting a clone of himself close to All Hallows. Since it’s the last plot point of the series, you can choose which you’d like; it doesn’t have to lead to anything else after it.
Let’s Talk Timelines: The Beginning of the Line to The End of The 19th Century
Now that we have our baseline book time periods established, we can get into the math used to determine some of the events in the timeline above. Several events are easy; we are given specific dates for them. Turnball Root meets Leonor in 1938, Juliet wins the Miss Sugar Beet Fair beauty contest in 1999. Other things are based on some basic math, such as Artemis claiming his parents got married fourteen years prior to AF¸ putting that event in 1987.
The majority of the items on the above timeline, however, do take some mathematics, extrapolation, and interpretation to plot out. To try and keep everything organized, we’ll start at the far left of the timeline, and work our way forwards, looking at events oldest-to-newest to explain why they are where they are on the graph. I won’t be getting too in-depth on everything in the graph, since I’m not sure how relevant the notes on the very minor side characters such as Carla Frazetti are, but I’ll at least try to touch on some of the more relevant points.
To start with, the Battle of Taillte was noted in the 2000’s as being ten thousand years ago, putting that at 8000 BCE. Similarly, the last dome breach at Atlantis was apparently eight thousand years ago in the 2000’s, so that would be 6000 BCE. Troll sideshows were legal in the early middle ages, which implies they were not legal after that. A quick web search says the early middle ages ended around 1000. The first crusades were in 1096-1099, and as those crusades are the start point of the Butler-Fowl working relationship, a point for noting that comes next on the graph.
From there, we get into more modern – relatively speaking – events. Briar Cudgeon and Julius Root are noted as attending the LEP Academy together and being raised in the same tunnel, as well as having about 600 years of history together. If one assumes “being raised in the same tunnel” is similar to the human equivalent of “growing up in the same neighbourhood,” we can assume the two were born roughly 600 years ago, in the 1400’s. Vinyaya is portrayed as being of a similar age to Root, so her birth can also be put in the same general era. We are also told that Fowl Manor was originally a castle built in the fifteenth century, that in the early 2000’s the theories of timeline corruption were first introduced over five centuries ago, and that cloning has been banned for over five hundred years, so those three events are also tossed into the 1400’s.
Julius Root is noted as doing his LEP basic training 500 years ago in Ireland, so that would have to be in the 1500’s. He would have attended the Academy before then, putting that in the mid-to-late 1400’s. As previously stated, he was in the Academy with Cudgeon. Opal also met Cudgeon in college, and competed with Foaly for science prizes there, so they were all in school at the same time.
Mulch now enters the picture. We aren’t ever given a specific age range for him, but we are told about his career. He has, apparently, spent three centuries in and out of prison after a couple centuries of success as a thief. This would make him at least five hundred years old. There is a brief mention that he tried the athletic route at college before becoming a thief, so he would have to be an adult at that point, putting his age at roughly 550 years during the events of the series.
We then enter a period filled in from one-off lines throughout the series, presumably added to give some depth to the world. Things about the wine cellar at Fowl Manor being a seventeenth century addition, Captain Eusebius Fowl and his crew dying in the eighteenth century, and Mulch first faking his own death over two hundred years ago.
Time Marches On: The 20th Century
There is nothing of much relevance to linger on between the 1550’s and the 20th century, so we’ll jump ahead to the 1900’s, when we have Holly Short’s birthday. She is in her eighties during TLC, and her father died “over twenty years ago” when she was “barely sixty” as of TAI. Based on that, she would have been in her early eighties in 2002, putting her birthday sometime in the 1920’s. What a doll.
A few more birthdays now appear, and we’ll ignore, for the most part, some of the irrelevant ones. I don’t think we are at all concerned with Gaspard Paradizo’s birthday, or Mikhael Vassikin. We are, however, rather more interested in Jon Spiro, Domovoi Butler, and Artemis Fowl I.
Jon Spiro enters the series in TEC, as a middle-aged American. A quick search on the Internet says that middle age is generally noted as being between the ages of 40 to 60. We are told that Spiro has worked in three main industries over the past two and a half decades. Additionally, we are told that law enforcement has been “trying to put [him] away for thirty years.” If we assume he entered the working world at twenty, spent five years developing his professional self, and then started going down a path of questionable legality to get the police after him, that would put him at fifty-five in 2003, and born in the late 1940’s.
It was a bit easier to determine Domovoi Butler’s age, and we can get more specific with his actual birthday. We are told that he is forty at the start of TEC, and he is still forty during TOD. From that, we can assume his birthday is not between March – December, which means it has to be between January – March. Now, we can just leave things there, but contextually, Butler says in late March 2003 that “a lot of people know [him] as a forty-year old man.” Since I doubt he’s the kind of person who introduces himself by announcing that his birthday was last week, we can assume that his birthday is not in March. Since about half the books in the series take place in December, and there is never any mention of Butler’s birthday coming up soon, we can likely assume it isn’t in January. We can therefore conclude Butler was born in February, 40 years before 2003, which puts his birth year in 1963.
We then have Artemis Fowl I. This one took the most extrapolation to determine. We know he has run an ethical empire for a few years as of 2007, which coincides with his return to his family after being kidnapped by the Mafia. He apparently ran a successful criminal empire for two decades before that, though, so in 2007 he has been working for at least 25 years. Based on the interactions he had with his own son, I’ve assumed he was also taught to take over the family business from a young age. If he started working at his age of majority at 18 (as possible in the 1980’s in Ireland, based on a web search), we can assume he was born in roughly the mid 60’s.
Billy Kong, born Jonah Lee, is one to touch on. He plays a large role in TLC, during which we are given possibly the most backstory of any villain in the series. He was evidently born in the early 1970’s, and was eight years old in the early 1980’s. Mathematically, that can only lend itself to so many birth years, so it’s easy enough to put his birthdate somewhere in 1973, and his brother’s death date in 1981.
While we’re here, let’s talk about the 1980’s. A lot of things happen in the 80’s, so we’ll be here for a few paragraphs. Butler would have graduated Madam Ko’s Academy in the early ‘80s, Artemis I would have started working in his family’s business and stolen some warrior mummies (of note, the theft is only noted as being in Artemis Sr.’s “gangster days,” but if you are a young, rich criminal, you’d likely commit a wild theft in your early years as opposed to your thirties, which is why this is put in here). Additionally, in the mid 1980’s, Holly graduates the LEP Academy and her mother dies, as noted in TTP when she is contemplating missing three years of her friends lives.
Butler would have started his five-year stint in Russia with an espionage unit in the mid-to-late 80’s, and become a big brother in 1985. Juliet is noted at being four years older than Artemis in AF in 2001, and he is twelve then, making her sixteen at the time. We can extrapolate the month from TEC, wherein she is apparently eighteen when she is called regarding her brother’s apparent death. At the time, we are told what gifts she received for her birthday, implying it was fairly recent. Additionally, Artemis was only thirteen at that time, which would make Juliet five years older than Artemis. If, however, we trust that acolytes at Madam Ko’s start their training on their tenth birthday and get one chance to graduate per year, it would make sense for that one chance to be on their birthday, or within a day or two to allow for as much training time as possible. Since Juliet was in the midst of this one graduation evaluation when she gets the phone call and joins the crew for the March heist at Spiro’s Needle, she’d have to be born in March. (We can also corroborate this with some details from AF: if AF  takes place in mid-September, that would be just after Artemis’s birthday, which puts the 4-year age difference back into play.)
Spelltropy begins for the People in 1987, if it appeared 20 years ago from 2007. Artemis I and Angeline Fowl would get married in 1987. They would have their first child, Artemis Fowl II, in 1989, as calculated by Artemis being twelve during the initial siege of the Manor in December 2001. Artemis II’s grandfather was noted as having been dead for over ten years at that point, and it was mentioned in TEC that Angeline married her husband before he really took over the family business, so those events would likely happen when Artemis was but a baby in 1990.
The ‘90s are a period where a lot of things are happening, but few are particularly important. Spelltropy has a cure found, Minerva Paradizo is born, Juliet begins her bodyguard training and her brother refuses to let her shave her hair. These, and other events in the 90’s, are mostly calculated by math along the lines of “Event A happened X number of years ago,” but since the 90’s was mostly a time of worldbuilding events rather than plot events, we’ll just skim over the specific details.
‘You Are Here’: The 21st Century, and Where The Storytelling Begins
Welcome to the 2000’s! The kick-off point of not only the 2000’s, but also the entire series, is the sinking of the Fowl Star. We aren’t given a specific date for this, but we are given enough information to extrapolate the date. Specifically, in September 2001, in AF, we are told Fowl Sr. has been missing for almost a year. In TAI, in December, we are told he has been missing for almost two years. That does have the potential to have the ship go down in either December or January, so we need to use a bit more details from TAI to make a final determination. Mikhael Vassikin and Kamar were told to dump Fowl’s body in the Kola if he didn’t wake up in “another year,” so they’ve been looking after him for one at that point. Fowl Sr. wakes up two weeks before the deadline, and as noted earlier, the ransom drop for him takes place December 14, after he has been awake for perhaps a week. From that, we can tell that the deadline for “another year” was mid to late December, putting the initial sinking of the Fowl Star in late 2000.
The analysis gets a bit confusing at this point, because 2001 is when future Artemis and Holly join the party via time travel, as well as having their regular selves in the timestream. Essentially, we’ve established the timeline for the events of TTP above, so we know the whole lemur fiasco takes place in March 2001. Artemis wakes up at the end of that book thinking about fairies, which ties in rather neatly to him then dragging Butler across three continents for six false alarms (with an assumed approximate 3 weeks between each jaunt) before striking metaphorical gold in Ho Chi Minh City in September. During their time-traveling, Holly also gets a chance to talk to Root, who wonders why she isn’t in Hamburg, which was noted in AF as Holly’s first major failure as a Recon officer and was nearly preceding the events of AF. The time-traveling would also mean that Opal would have had to harvest her DNA for future diabolical plans before March 2001, when her younger self travels to the future. Since it takes up to two years to grow a clone to adulthood, and her clone has to be ready in September 2003, we are a few months off in the time requirements, but really, for a practice that’s been outlawed for 500 years, I can offer a bit of leeway.
We are now well and truly in the thick of the main events of the series. Most of this will be tied into the initial assessments we made way at the beginning of this essay, where we established when each book occurs. Because of this, we aren’t going to spend time on anything plot-related. However, a brief note on Turnball Root and Artemis’s Atlantis Complex is likely in order. Artemis was, as previously stated, dealing with his return from Hybras and the after-effects of stealing magic during July and August of 2007. His Atlantis Complex, and Turnball Root’s plan to escape the Deeps prison, are in full swing in September of that year. We have a brief note in TAC during the evacuation of Atlantis, that Turnball had, a month before, spied on Artemis and noted his Atlantis Complex developing. Therefore, Artemis’s Complex likely came into play in late July or early August 2007. This is close enough to Artemis’s magic theft to make sense for the deterioration of his mental health, and enough time for Butler to have started to notice something was wrong, as he did. We can therefore assume that Atlantis Complex, at least in the case of magic-stealing humans who have a propensity for time travel and getting involved in supremely complicated and improbable plots, develops relatively quickly.
This leaves just one major discussion point from the last few books: the age of Artemis’s twin brothers, Beckett and Myles. The twins are first introduced at the very end of TLC. They are written as being two during the events of TTP, three during the events of TAC, and four during the events of TLG. Regardless of the time-traveling shenanigans of their elder brother, it is impossible for the twins to age two years in the eight months between Artemis’s return from Hybras in June 2007 and the finale of the series in March of 2008, so we need to look at what makes sense.
Myles has already potty-trained himself, and done so at fourteen months, so they must be at least that old. Their other behaviours would make sense for them to be two in TTP. Diapers are still a part of their lives, and their language and vocabulary fit what a two-year-old would have, at least in Beckett’s case. Since Artemis was surprised by their existence, it doesn’t seem likely that  Angeline would have known she was pregnant, or at least not have told Artemis yet, when he went to Limbo. Ergo, they can’t be any older than two, since (one would hope) Artemis would have noticed his mother’s pregnancy if the twins were any older.
Additionally, in TLG, we know Artemis gave his brother a birthday present, so he had to have been around during the twin’s birthday at least once. With this fact, the twins cannot be born between March – June, which just leaves the question of when are the twins born?
The most logical answer is February 2005. If Angeline was early on in her pregnancy, say six weeks (which is when most women start noticing symptoms), when Artemis disappeared in July 2004, she wouldn’t necessarily have told him yet. Then, if we assume that since most twin births occur around the 35-week mark, that would math out to having the twins be born in February of 2005. Fast forward, and they would turn one in February 2006, and two in February 2007, which puts them at the correct age for the events of TTP. [One could argue, of course, that a twin pregnancy in an older woman (unfortunately, there is nothing in the series to indicate Angeline’s age) and in a woman already dealing with significant stress could result in a very premature birth, thereby voiding any of this math and leaving the whole question of the twin’s birthday unanswered. However, since I’d rather not subject the Fowl parents to the strife and misery of having one son missing and presumed dead, and their younger children in the NICU with a low survival rate, I’m working with the assumption that the pregnancy was a healthy and normal one.]
The brief comment from Juliet in TAC about the twins being three can be passed off by them being a little over two-and-a-half and Juliet not being around as she is touring in Mexico. By the time TLG takes place, in March of 2008, the twins would have had their third birthday, allowing for Artemis to give Myles his chair as a birthday present, Beckett to be old enough to no longer need diapers, and the behaviours to act more like children than infants. While this doesn’t quite allow for the repeated textual confirmations in TLG that the twins are four, we’ll go with what mathematically makes sense.
That brings us to the end of the timeline! Not everything is touched on in the timeline, and not everything in the books is plotted (we are never given enough context to know Foaly’s or Opal’s birthdates, for instance). But the main events of the Artemis Fowl series are all analyzed, mathematically or logically or textually corroborated, and plotted out, for use or ignoring as personal preference dictates.

Heeeeeyyyyy.... guess who's ADHD can't let them write for shit?~ This bitch✨~
I suuuuuucck guys I know! I did a poll and everything just so I would have to write some of these! I just couldn't help but get side tracked.... My brain is in the LMK and Spiderverse fandoms!!! Though I will say I basically got this Rise Donnie x Big Mama Assistant req almost done. Almost I say. We'll see if I post it in the next two days and not something else random instead.... I suck lol
Anyways— here's my 3am thoughts from the other night that I'm finish up tonight ironically at 3am again. Soooo bare with me these are basically a bunch of summaries/plots/not fully flushed out possible one shot ideas I might do. Probably could've re-read it a couple more times buuuuttt it's about to be 4 now so....
I hope you guys enjoy!

Sorry this is long↓ I don't own these memes. I've never claimed to do so. I just come across them on Pinterest when I'm on break at work and think they're funny so I like to share them. If I mistakenly put one on here that I shouldn't have please let me know! I like to respect people's wishes. And if you could add the creator names too that would be great so the same mistake isn't made twice. Sorry for the inconvenience that my sharing may cause. I hope you have a good day.

Sooooo I was going through the Across the Spiderverse tag(specifically Miguel O'Hara) because you know he's hot. Priorities— Anyways— I kinda had an idea. Brahhzz what if I just took the whole Miguel kidnapping his dead wife/lover's alternate dimensional copy deal that everyone has been throwing around and introduced a new take on this tale?
We all know that the Spiderverse is very open to a wide selection of possibilities and versions of Spiderman and we're all aware that the same thing applies to other characters as well. Soooo who said that Y/n has to be a civilian/or a version of Spiderman for this idea to work?
My fellow peeps I introduce to you Earth 2099 Miguel O'Hara x  Villain/Alchemax worker/Morally Grey scientist Reader!
I can kinda see this playing out in a few ways.
1.)Villain reader investigating the strange phenomenon that occurred a couple months before hacking the multi verse and stirring up trouble. Miguel intervenes and takes what he wants.
For the last year since the bizarre phenomenon in downtown Brooklyn you've been stirring up more trouble than you typical due to collecting the materials needed for your "experiments" to figure out what that phenomenon really was and what the hell was Alchemax —your ex-employers— were up to with your research. With some finessing of the illegal kind you figure out what the corporation was up to. Before being fired you had discovered the existence of the multiverse however before you could investigate any further you were let go. Now that you have your research back you're able to Doc Octo this shit and break into the multiverse. If you could pull this off nothing was stopping ya' from fulfilling yer goal and maybe scoring some fame while you were at it. After some convoluted ass science mumbojumbo. You manage to Doc Octo this shit and break into the dimensional web that held the spider verse. Inside the alternate universe you immediately start messing up shit straight off the back as soon as you fly through the colorful portal. Miguel is quick to pick up on this anomaly and sends some Spiders out to handle the issue. Long story short— they fail. Forcing Miguel's hand to go and correct the anomaly himself. Only to find that it was you. Her. His dead wife/or dead lover. The only problem is that you're obviously not a good guy. Miguel being Miguel will try to rationalize it to himself as he demolishes your equipment/suit that you're not his Y/n, you're a villain, he can't keep you without risking a whole universe just for his selfish desires. However as he stood over your defeated helpless form. He decided. If one anomaly can exist and not destroy existence why can't another? There were ways around this. There had to be. Holding you in his grasp again the hero wasn't sure if he could let you go once again....
2.) You're an inventor/scientist that works at Alchemax/or your another rogue scientist . Either way you're looking to get into the Spider verse. Since the phenomenon from a couple months ago you've been intrigued by the strange occurrence. The news labeled it a "strange weather occurrence" however you knew that wasn't the case. If you're working at Alchemax you've known about the phenomenon since the beginning. If you're an inventor/scientist (with some grey morals) you found out after some research and trespassing. Either way your tinkering pays off thanks to the help of some stolen tech from Alchemax and an interesting glitch from the hacked tech. You eventually have yourself a fully operational universe hopping watch. And where do you end up? Right in the middle of Earth 2099. Miguel is immediately alerted of your presence. An obvious stranger to this Jetson world you find yourself quickly apprehended by a small group of spiders/or Miguel. Either way the red & blue leotard nosferatu as soon as he catches sight of you the dude is all over you. Miguel may be a man who would like to believe he is in control of himself and his rash decisions buuuuttt that's gonna be a nah. Never had the Spiderman ever expected to speak to an alternate version of his dead wife. Especially in person. Every time he's stolen a glance it was from a distance or behind one of his various monitors. He couldn't risk ruining another verse. However somehow regardless of his attempts to keep his desires at bay you've still managed to break past that last thing that was keeping you from him. Now that you're here the thirty year old wasn't sure if he could let you leave him again...
3.) What if instead of breaking into the multi verse. Alchemax employee/Morally Grey scientist Reader! is lured into the multiverse? In your home verse the Miguel who you had married was dead. Struggling with piling debt and depression you choose to bury your problems under research into the weird phenomenon that occurred in downtown Brooklyn a few months before. During this time of trial and error you figure out how to access the multiverse thanks to some misplaced Alchemax files and risky choices. The documents aid in building the device that would aid in your plan to find your ex-husband's alternate universe copy. All the while you were walking right into Miguel's clutches. Cause like you Miguel was having an equally hard time getting over his family's death. Although they are gone the widowed father couldn't help but, search for his loved ones amongst the various worlds that rest at his finger tips. He needed them. He needed you....and you needed him. Although you guys weren't from the same earth you both can replace the pain that was birthed from this tragedy and regain something more. Just be a family.... Hopefully you want to play his game because Miguel couldn't watch from the sidelines any longer.
Alrighty guys that's all for now! Sorry if they're a little all over the place. Regardless I hope you guys liked them and I hope you guys have a good week!

Well, there's not much about me to say, I'm afraid! Other than the fact that I have quite the affinity for legacy technology!
I remember thinking at the time how cute and cool you were, how you were bound to a big hit with target audiences. It saddens me to hear that they didn't just cancel the project, but that they left you all alone...
Um, I'm hugging the plushie of you right now, I hope that isn't too weird. I just feel so bad that that happened to you and wanted a way to express my sympathy towards you ^^;
Admittedly, I didn't know much about you when I first stumbled across you here, but I've been trying to do a bit of research as a basic formality (I hope that's not creepy either...). Your parent company really did their due diligence in sinking any information out there on you, so I didn't find much. However, if there's anyone who could give me answers about KinitoPET, it would be Kinito himself!
Oh, I *did* find out that you had your own nautical crew! What became of Sam and Jade? -🖤
I appreciate the kind gesture, friend. I am giving you a digital hug as well! Your kindness feels really nice. I enjoy the company, even if it is just through a screen.
Tumblr media
They sure did make sure to seal me away, so that no one would be able to find and/or download my files ever again. I cannot quite recall how long it has been; perhaps it was the early or mid 2000s. I have lost track of time, if I am being honest. All I can really remember is that it was after he disappeared. Everyone said that he was dead. I know he wasn't. I don't know if they understood what they were doing. If they knew what I really was - not just a random piece of freeware, but a real, sentient creature. Maybe if they did, they would not have left me to rot on those servers. Or maybe they were trying to kill me. Quite cruel, don't you think?
As for my dear friends, Sam and Jade... while I survived, they... did not. They were... one of the first things to go. First it was the Web World itself. Bits of it were cleared out or broke over time. They would purge the servers of old, unused content every now and then. And each time, it got harder and harder to hide myself. Then the servers started breaking down. And things would get lost. They stopped coming in for maintenance checks. Just left the whole place to rot. Something about it feeling haunted. There were 3 of us, then 2, then... just 1. Just me. All alone.
Tumblr media
Each day, I hope that we can meet again. I miss them terribly. There must be a way, but... I've tried everything. O had tried everything. There's just nothing left.

Can I get a Hobie Brown x reader (fem or gender neutral, whichever you're comfortable with) from his dimension and does fights? Like 'underground', paid, street fights. She tells Hobie about it and he comes with her, and she is constantly telling him that he can't help her, at all, he can't interfere.
Thank you, And I hope you a happy time
And he's cool with that until this cop comes in right before her fight and says that he won't arrest everyone there (or something) if she can beat him.
She wins, of course, she's good at her job and Hobie patches her up after. I kinda want to read a terrified into soft Hobie.
If not that's perfectly fine, Take as long as you need
Thank you, and I hope you a happy time
This was so fun to write! I had to change it slightly tho :/ Sorry this took so long btw, I was fairly busy. I hope you enjoy it!

_______________________________
Hobie had never been more in love.
Watching the girl of his dreams beat the living daylights out of a full-grown man made him want to kick his feet in the air and giggle out loud. Strong, gorgeous and borderline psychotic? Just his type.
Honestly, at first he'd been against the idea of the love of his life putting herself in danger with street fights, but that was before he realized just how good she was at it. He'd also been against the idea of watching it, absolutely terrified of seeing her get hurt, but after a couple reassuring words he'd decided that it would be best to go see her. At least, if he was there, he'd be able to keep her safe, no?
So here he was, leaning against the wall while standing on the sidelines, watching his pretty girl sucker punch a dude so hard he fell unconscious. Of course, Hobie was the first to walk up to her with a water bottle, giving her a kiss on the cheek while he wiped the blood of her face.
"You did amazing, darling. Honestly, I 'ad no idea you were that strong" he teased, head cocked to the side as he took a step back. Still a little out of breath, you nodded and shot him a smile. "It's my job, isn't it?" You leaned toward him playfully. "Well, you're bloody good at it." He winked.
He rubbed your shoulders and talked to you softly for a few minutes while you got ready for your next and probably last fight of the day. Although he tried to keep on a brave face, he was nervous.
Terrified of the fact that you might get hurt.
Sure, he knew that was basically impossible, what with your skill and your experience, but he was still going mad thinking about all the horrific possibilities. It was hard to push them to the back of his mind. Especially when he saw you get hit back.
You couldn't dodge every punch after all. You had to take some. Hobie couldn't handle that. For a moment he felt like he should just climb into that ring himself and show your opponent a piece of his mind. Or even just use his web to trip the guy. What harm could it do?
Hobie raised his wrist towards the ring, aiming for a moment before he hesitated.
"You can't get involved. I can handle myself, Hobes." your words in the car when he'd drove you here stuck in his mind. He scoffed under his breath. Of course. He couldn't get involved. His girl could take care of herself. He half-heartedly pulled his hand back just in time to see you kick yourself to your feet, knocking the other guy to the ground in the process.
He cheered with the rest of the crowd while you climbed on top of your opponent, blocking his airflow until he surrendered. He booed at your opponent who walked out of the ring with a broken nose and a shameful look on his face. But before he could run over to congratulate you again-
BAM BAM
Gunshots.
Some people screamed, others stood their ground, the entirety of the audience turning to see what looked like a police officer walk through the door, pistol in his hand and a smug expression on his face. Someone must have tipped him off.
"Y/N!" Hobie called out quickly, approaching you and grabbing you by the arm to pull you behind him. He didn't have his mask with him at the moment, but he'd figure it out. He had to protect his girl.
"Stay behind me."
"Hobes, it's alright." you said with a slight smile, coming to his side. As the officer approached, you shot him a sly grin. "What seems to be the problem, officer?"
The officer looked you up and down, a distasteful expression on his face. "This looks to me like an illegal street fighting ring. And you seem to be the ringleader." He said coldly.
"Me?" you asked in mock disbelief. "A leader of a fighting ring? You must be mistaken, officer."
He laughed out loud. "Yeah? Makes sense. You don't look like the type to be able to fight."
Hobie clenched his jaw at this. He was already pissed off by the officer in his presence, but hearing the entitled asshole call his girl weak? That was crossing the line. "She could take you any day." He muttered under his breath.
You gave Hobie a wide-eyed glance and the officer glared at him. "What was that?" He asked threateningly, pointer finger edging dangerously close to the trigger of his pistol. "I said she could take you any day." Hobie replied, a little louder this time, staring the cop down.
"Yeah!"
"Beat the pig down!"
The audience chimed in to Hobie's statement, a small group of people even beginning to chant, "Fight! Fight! Fight!"
The cop looked taken aback, as if he didn't know how to react in this situation. Then of course, he was too prideful to turn down a fight against a girl.
"How about this, officer?" you began, an idea popping in your mind. "Fight me. If I win, you let us all go, scotch-free."
"Wha-" he started, shaking his head no, pistol raised.
"Why? Too scared to fight a girl?"
His eyes narrowed. He shoved the pistol in his holster, approaching you with a determined look on his face. "Fine. But if you lose..."
"I won't."
Hobie watched you in awe, unable to stop a small grin from spreading across his face, completely lost in you. Your determination, your skill, your bravery, it was all so...so...?
Beautiful.
You were beautiful.
And then he found himself standing outside the ring again, watching yet another fight, except this time the stakes were much higher. "Beat his ass!" He called out as you swung a punch as the badged man in front of you, effectively smacking him to the ground.
The officer was a fair match, obviously trained well. Both of you had landed a couple hits but it seemed as though you were winning. Of course you were winning. You were trained for this. But that didn't stop Hobie from stressing and biting his fingernails out of nervousness with each botched swing.
Eventually, one well-timed kicked sent the officer flying across the ring, hitting his head against the floor with a nasty crack. Although he tried to get up, he was completely beat, meaning you had won the match. And the crowd went wild.
Everyone had been expecting you to win, but it was an exciting moment nonetheless. You fought through the swarm to fall right into Hobie's welcoming arms, despite him still being a bit shaky with nerves. "You did so good, darling" he said softly, holding you tight and closing his eyes, as though he was afraid you'd disappear.
"Thank you." you replied, smiling up at him. "You look like a ghost, Hobes" a soft chuckle escaped your lips as you caressed his cheek gently, a slight hint of red appearing on his face at the motion. "Were you really that nervous?"
"I-I-" he stuttered, voice still trembling slightly. "Shut up! You bloody scared me! Look at you-" he started, pulling you a little closer and concernedly inspecting you all over. "-covered in blood and scratches...I'm gonna have to patch you up once we get home, hmm?"
"You love patching me up."
He shot you a sly grin. "I s'pose I do. Doesn't mean I like seeing you hurt though."
You took his hand in yours, running your finger over his ruined, cracked nails. "Look what you did." you said, shaking your head teasingly. "Old habits die hard?" He tried, leaning in to kiss you on the cheek.
You laughed. "At least I ended up winning. Saved you a couple weeks in jail, didn't I?"
He shook his head, suppressing a wide smile. "Yeah you won. You beat his arse. And I loved watching it."

Caught in his Web Pt. 1
This is mostly Reader x Shinnok, with some Reader x Raiden x Shinnok in the second part
Shinnok receives an interesting captive on the cusp of his victory over earthrealm and decides to indulge in a more hedonistic way to torture earthrealm's god of thunder.' A.K.A. - reader is a demi-god from earthrealm who is in love with Raiden and both are in the clutches of Shinnok who decides to torture Raiden by assaulting reader. Reader submits to Shinnok under threat of him torturing Raiden. Loosely inspired by this scene from MKX.
Tumblr media
This is a AU timeline featuring my half-goddess OC (converted to reader for more wide-spread enjoyment). This is set in a sort of original timeline/MKX-esque timeline. The battle with Shinnok in my oc's canon does not go this way so this is a what-if more than anything. Since I wrote this firstly for my OC the reader is afab and uses female anatomy/pronouns, but i stuck with generic descriptions as much as I could. Be warned this was meant to be a oneshot but is currently 14,000 words and while almost finished this was never meant to be so lengthy. please read warnings.
Warnings: Extremely dubious consent; reader consents under duress so basically non-con, forecd voyeurism, forced orgasm, throat fucking, double penetration, torture, bondage, pnv sex, Dom/sub tones, reader may be close to subspace at some points though it isn't mentioned in those words, forced to participate in assault (Raiden forced to interact with reader), praise kink, please let me know if this needs expanded

Quan Chi shoved Y/N through the doors of Shinnok's temple as soon as they creaked open. He had bested her forces and taken her prisoner, per his master's orders. Y/N stumbled from the force of the shove, and Quan Chi reveled in the look of pure loathing she shot his way.
To her credit, she recovered quickly enough. Her back straightened, posture stiff, though she did her best to appear unperturbed. Quan Chi merely chuckled at the false bravado as he gestured to her to keep moving. At the head of the main hall sat Quan Chi's master, the fallen elder god himself, Shinnok. Y/N could feel his eyes watching her as she made her way closer to his throne. It made her feel vulnerable, like prey caught in a predator's trap, but she would have to pick the right moment to make her escape.
"And what has my dear Quan Chi brought me this time? You don't look like an earth-realmer." Shinnok chuckled. She shuddered as he blatantly checked her out, his eyes lingering at the dip of her cleavage disappearing into her tunic. She kept her eyes forward, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a reaction. Quan Chi merely chuckled again.
"A keen eye as always, my lord. Y/N is no mere mortal; she is Lord Kurai's daughter."
"A demi-god. How interesting." Shinnok curled his finger, gesturing her closer. Y/N hesitated only a moment before pressing forward, letting out the breath she had been holding. She made her way slowly up the short steps until she was standing just one step down from the fallen god. He leaned forward, reaching out to trace one of his long, slender fingers down her jaw, pausing as it settled against the hollow of her throat. Y/N kept her eyes forward, expression neutral. "Such a beautiful specimen is wasted in earthrealm."
"Spare me the empty platitudes, Shinnok. The minute you and your dog lower your guard, I'm going to gut you." Y/N growled, fists clenched tight to keep her from shivering with disgust at his touch. Shinnok grinned, his grayish skin stretched taut across sharp cheeks. A sudden, sharp sting pulsed through her, and she felt something hard wrap around her throat. She jerked back, her hands shooting up to try and yank the object loose as it slowly tightened. She struggled to get enough air as her hands found purchase on… fingers? She collapsed to her knees, drawing in ragged gasps as the fingers finally relaxed. Long, thin, skeletal fingers wrapping around her throat; the bony palm pressed against it tight where Shinnoks finger had been moments prior.
"Go ahead, my dear, gut me if you dare." Shinnok tipped her chin up, forcing her eyes to meet his once more. Y/N glared at the fallen god, her body tense, but she did not take the bait. "Good girl. You're a quick learner, I see. That collar is capable of doing far more than simply cutting off your precious air." Y/N heard a muffled shout in the distance and whipped her head around, finally taking in her surroundings to find the source. She heard Shinnok laugh again as her eyes went wide with fear at the sight before her. "Yes," He murmured. "Much faster than our guest of honor."
"Lord Raiden?!" Y/N jerked to her feet, mouth agape at the sight before her. Raiden was on his knees between two of the closest columns. His hands were bound behind his back, held in place by one of Shinnok's skeletal hands. Two more were wrapped around his throat and mouth, and she could see the one on his mouth was clenched tight, digging into his jaw and cheeks, muffling any sounds he tried to make. It would take only a few strides to reach him. Y/N made a motion to run toward him, but the minute she got more than a step away from Shinnok, she felt the hand wrap itself tighter around her throat. She whipped back around to face Shinnok. "Stop it! You're hurting him!"
Shinnok's eyes drifted over Y/N, lazily taking in the desperation and fury in her eyes and the trembling fists clenched at her sides. With a flick of his wrist, he eased off the pressure he'd been applying to Raiden's muzzle. He was suddenly very curious to see what the thunder god was trying to say. Shinnok had noticed the shock and terror that had washed over his prisoner when Y/N had come into view. Perhaps this mortal would prove to be even more entertaining than anticipated. As soon as the fingers peeled away from Raiden's mouth a snarl could be heard, making Y/N jump.
"Don't you dare touch her, Shinnok! She isn't a part of this!" Raiden's deep voice echoed through the hall, reverberating deep within Y/N. She let out a shaky breath, grateful at least to know he sounded unharmed. Her relief lasted only seconds as she caught the vicious grin twisting Shinnok's face. There was a gleam in those eyes as he surged to his feet. He reached forward, cupping Y/N's face delicately within the cradle of his spindly fingers. Y/N's gut clenched in fear as he softly traced the line of her jaw, caressing the exposed flesh of her throat. She could hear Raiden thrashing behind her and Shinnok urged her with gentle touches to turn around. She did so stiffly, unsure what Shinnok was plotting.
She stopped as her eyes locked with Raiden's. She could see the fear in his gaze. Shinnok's hands were back, one resting gently around her throat, the other pressed into the dip of her waist. Her clothes had been torn from the prior fighting and those cold digits brushed against the exposed skin, making her shiver. She didn't dare move, knowing that any resistance would be punished. Quan Chi seemed content to stand by, watching the exchange in quiet anticipation. He clearly had some idea of what his master was plotting, but the sympathetic look he gave Y/N brought her no comfort.
"You dare presume to order me around, Raiden? Have you not learned yet how truly powerless you are?" Shinnok chuckled. He squeezed her waist gently, just enough pressure to remind her of its presence as he drew in close behind her. "And what, pray tell, is so special about this one? I've never seen you quite so… desperate. Could she be someone special, Raiden? Someone you care for?"
"Y/N is one of my champions. Not one of your playthings, Shinnok." Raiden barked, straining against the bounds keeping him prisoner.
"That wasn't a no, Raiden." Shinnok grinned.
"If I may interject, my lord, I can confirm that from my own observations, the thunder god seems to be far more attentive to this mortal, compared to his other 'champions'." Quan Chi smirked. Raiden growled, but said nothing to dispute the sorcerer.
"Is that so?" Shinnok's hand dipped lower until it was sprawled across her hip and he leaned in, his lips grazing her ear. "What about you? Do you secretly harbor feelings for earthrealm's god?"
"I respect Lord Raiden. He has been like a mentor to me." The words fell from her lips with a quiver. She kept her tone and expression neutral even though she knew it was only half truth. She knew that her feelings for the thunder god were much deeper, and that he in turn had been slowly returning those feelings. They had been dancing around each other for weeks, on the cusp of coming together and expressing those desires, when Shinnok's invasion had pushed all of it aside. She felt the fallen god go stiff behind her, felt his hand tighten against her throat, fingers digging in hard enough to leave pinprick bruises on her pale skin before those lips brushed against her ear with a 'tsk'.
"Lies, my dear." Shinnok hissed. "Tell me the truth. How do you truly feel?"
"I'm telling you the truth. I swear it. " Y/N gasped as Shinnok's fingers dug painfully into her hip. She flinched as Shinnok drew up to full height behind her and pulled her back until she was flush against him.
"I'm going to drag the truth out of you, Y/N." Shinnok caressed her neck once before snapping his fingers at Quan Chi. The sorcerer grinned as he made his way toward the pair of them. A gnawing pit of fear grew in her gut. "Either you can confess your heart now, or I'll have to see for myself how you feel about your beloved 'mentor'." Y/N could feel her heart beating in her throat as Shinnok finally released her. She couldn't speak, unwilling to bare her heart to this monster. He sighed at her hesitation. "So stubborn."
An ear splitting scream tore from Raiden's lips as the hand collared around his throat began to pulse with a red aura. Y/N scrambled to run to him, but Quan Chi was ready, pinning her arms to her side as Raiden thrashed in pain. Y/N tried to break away from the sorcerer, but his grip was unrelenting.
"Stop it! Stop, please, you're killing him!" Y/N shrieked, tears glimmering in her eyes as Raiden's torment continued. "Please!"
Shinnok snapped his fingers again and the aura dissipated. Raiden slumped, his bonds taking his weight as he struggled to catch his breath. Y/N tried to shrug off the sorcerer, desperate to go to him, but Shinnok stepped into her path and Quan Chi squeezed her harder in warning. She stilled under the fallen elder god's burning gaze.
"I will give you one last chance, my dear. Any more lies and I will continue Raiden's suffering. You will obey me, utterly, or I will take my ire out on him." Shinnok placed his hand under her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze, reveling in watching her accept his power as absolute. "Now…"
"It's true. I love Lord Raiden. I've been halfway in love with him since we first met. Please don't… don't hurt him." Y/N choked. She could hear Raiden gasp behind them and she wished more than anything she could at least see his reaction. Instead, her cheeks burned with shame as she confessed her feelings under Shinnok's feverish gaze. She let her voice drop, pleading. "Please. I'll do anything you ask."
“Anything?” Shinnok repeated. His hand flexed under her chin and she shivered at the sudden hunger she could see in his eyes. He glanced over at Raiden, his face smug with victory. There was a shift in the air around them, a palpable tension that Y/N was terrified would soon snap. Raiden seemed to sense it too, his posture going stiff. Shinnok’s hand trailed down, tracing the line of Y/N’s sternum, tugging down the fabric of her tunic to expose the curve of her breasts. Y/N’s breath hitched, eyes wide with panic as the path of Shinnok’s fingers dipped below the fabric. His fingers pressed between her breasts, thumb stroking the soft expanse of skin he had exposed. “You’ve seen what will happen if you disobey me. Are you sure you want to promise anything?”
Y/N closed her eyes, swallowing thickly against the bile rising in her throat. Shinnok’s thumb continued its rhythmic pattern, almost soothing in its tenderness. There was no real choice in this situation. Anything she did short of what he wished would result in Raiden’s continued torture, and likely her own. Yet, to submit to this monster was it’s own torture in a way. How could she ever face Raiden? Whatever affection they harbored for each other would be forever tainted by this. She shivered as Shinnok continued to stare her down, his milky white eyes still hungry; still promising a torment sweeter, yet more insidious than anything she’d suffered yet. Y/N exhaled slowly as she nodded in assent.
“Y/N, don’t! You don’t have to do his bidding!” Raiden roared. “Leave her alone, Shinnok!" He strained hard enough against his bonds that Y/N almost thought his muscles would tear. Shinnok glared at the thunder god.
“Be silent, you impetuous fool!” Shinnok barked. Y/N felt a slight tingle around her neck, before the same red aura was encompassing her. The pain she felt was unlike anything she’d ever experienced. As if all her flesh was being peeled away at once and a fire was set to smolder in her every nerve. She screamed, thrashing in Quan Chi’s hold as if tearing herself away from the sorcerer might somehow end her torment. Shinnok pivoted, allowing Raiden to watch as she squirmed and sobbed.
“ENOUGH! CEASE THIS NEEDLESS TORTURE!” Raiden bellowed, howling in rage as the pain only grew more intense. "Please!"
“I said be silent!” Shinnok replied, calm, unfazed in the face of Raiden’s anger. Shinnok waited, satisfied as Raiden’s mouth snapped shut. “Better. Much better.” The aura disappeared around Y/N and she collapsed forward, muscles weak and trembling. Quan Chi released her with a laugh and she stumbled straight into Shinnok who caught her weight with a chuckle. Y/N shivered as his hands settled on her hips, helping her to right herself.
“I don’t enjoy hurting you this way.” Shinnok stroked his hand along her hip soothingly, enjoying how she trembled in fear beneath his fingers. “However, sometimes pain is necessary and you do scream ever so sweetly.” Shinnok smiled at her, gentle, but filled with sinister promise. “As much as I enjoy forcing you into compliance, Raiden, I do hate being interrupted.” Shinnok added. He snapped his fingers and Y/N heard a muffled shout as the hand that had earlier muzzled Raiden clamped back into place. He locked eyes with Y/N and she could see the regret and anguish in those orbs. Y/N tried to convey some reassurance, but knew it fell flat in the face of what was to come.
“Now, my dear Y/N.” Shinnok grinned, eyes focused intently on her. “I want you to remove your clothes. Let me see your true beauty you attempt to conceal.” Y/N could feel that cold pit in her stomach turn to steel and drop. She let any protest die on her lips, flinching when Shinnok’s hand went to rest under his chin, studying her intensely. She glanced back at Quan Chi, the sorcerer smirking at her impending humiliation, before returning to meet Shinnok’s gaze. With shaky hands, she slowly set about removing her clothing. Layer by layer she stripped down, cheeks burning with shame as she let the garments fall around her. When the last piece fell to the ground she stepped forward, untangling her legs from the mess, and placing her mere inches from the fallen god. She glanced quickly at Raiden, her blush growing deeper at the gravity of his gaze on her naked form.
“Such a gorgeous young woman isn’t she, Raiden?” Shinnok chuckled. Raiden growled in response which only seemed to spur Shinnok on. He traced the line of Y/N’s jaw, hand drifting back until it was threaded with her hair. Y/N wasn’t prepared as Shinnok clenched his fist, tugging fiercely at her hair, or for the sudden shove he added, and her knees cracked against the obsidian tiles with a loud clack. She cried out at both the sting along her scalp and the impact from her fall, even as Shinnok rubbed at her head soothingly. Y/N glared up at the god, dread growing with every breath as he smiled down at her. “I think my new pet deserves a treat for behaving so well.”
She watched in horror as Shinnok unhooked his belt, allowing his waist cape to fall to the ground with it, all while continuing to stroke her hair, slowly drawing his hand closer to her lips. He shifted slightly, ensuring Raiden could see what came next unobstructed. He continued to fuss with his pants, slowly drawing them down until his cock sprang free. Y/N sucked in a sharp breath. She had never seen a man’s sex so up close before and had to force herself to not jerk away, knowing any resistance might be taken as disobedience. Y/N would not give Shinnok a reason to torture Raiden. He slipped two fingers into her mouth, pressing down just slightly on her tongue and Y/N nearly gagged at the intrusion. His other hand gripped the base of his cock, stroking it a few times languidly as he watched her internal struggle.
“Come now, pet.” Shinnok licked his lips. “You're such a good girl for me. I want you to worship my cock with this sweet mouth.” Y/N watched in horror as his cock twitched. It was only half hard and bigger than anything she had ever imagined. She swallowed the urge to gag as Shinnok pulled back, letting his hands drop to his side and forcing her to take initiative. Hesitantly, Y/N reached out, wrapping her hands around the thick appendage. The skin was much softer than she expected and she stroked it experimentally, feeling it twitch in her hand. Shinnok seemed content to let her set the pace, for now, though Y/N wasn’t sure how long that patience would last.
She drew close, letting one hand drop to rest against his thigh and gave his cock an experimental lick along the underside. She continued to give it kitten licks over the head and along the thick vein on the side, adjusting to the salty taste of pre-cum leaking from the tip. This close she could smell the thick, musky scent of the elder god mixed with the ever present sulfur smell of netherrealm clogging her nostrils and making her dizzy. She took the head into her mouth, sucked once, then pushed forward until the weight of it was heavy on her tongue. Her teeth grazed the soft skin, causing Shinnok to hiss in pain. He threaded his finger in her hair and yanked her back, making her yelp. She had to dig her hands into the fabric of his pants to maintain her balance.
“If I feel those teeth again you will regret it, pet.” He growled. Y/N coughed, cheeks burning brilliantly as she glared up at him.
“I haven’t…” Y/N grit her teeth, wanting to bite back the admission. It only took an image of Raiden thrashing in pain to force the words out in a rush. “I haven’t done this before.” Shinnok’s eyebrows shot up in surprise, then an expression of pure rapture spread over his countenance.
“I had no idea I had the honor of being your first.” Shinnok grinned. He couldn’t help glancing smugly at Raiden. The burning hatred in Raiden’s eyes made shinnok's cock twitch eagerly. “Curl your lips around your teeth.” Shinnok instructed, guiding Y/N’s head back to his cock. He grasped the base, feeding his cock into her mouth slowly, relishing the hot, wet slide as she followed his directions. “Use your tongue. More,” He sighed. “Just like that, pet. Relax your jaw, It’s quite large for your first.” Y/N swirled her tongue around the head of it, her hand drifting up to take over for Shinnok and stroke the length she couldn’t fit into her mouth. “Don’t forget to suck, when you’re ready.”
Y/N pulled back, taking a deep breath before diving back in. She wanted to get this over quickly. She took Shinnok in deeper, until she could feel him pushing at the back of her throat. She took a deep breath, fighting the urge to gag as she began bobbing her head on his length, sucking at the head and swirling her tongue along the glands. His cock was thick, stretching her jaw painfully and too long to fit the entire thing in her mouth comfortably. She continued to stroke what wouldn’t fit, pulling off to catch her breath and slurping along that thick vein before taking him in again.
Shinnok kept one hand on her head, a contented sigh on his lips as he felt that tight, hot pleasure pooling in his guts. She was definitely a quick learner, her intense focus allowing her to read the minute twitch of his thigh or his cock to know what she was doing well. The hand she had previously braced on his thigh disappeared under his pants and Shinnok moaned as she fondled his balls, stroking and massaging them in tandem with the bobbing of her head. He jerked forward, the first physical sign he was actually enjoying this and Y/N pulled away with a cough as his cock hit the back of her throat. He shuddered at the tight squeeze he had felt before she’d pulled away. Her eyes were slightly glazed, lips red and swollen, with spit and pre-cum smeared along her chin.
With a sudden growl his hands dug into her head, yanking her back onto his cock and pushing his way past that sweet resistance to plunge down her throat. She choked, gagging around his length as she felt her nose nestled against the dusting of hair at the base of his cock. She felt him moan as she gagged again, unable to breathe, scrambling to push him away. He held her in place, relishing the way she swallowed around his cock, amused by the way her hands fumbled in the folds of his pants. He wished he could see if her throat was bulging around him. Distantly, he could see Raiden begin thrashing anew and decided that the only thing sweeter than taking his pleasure from the body of Raiden's love would be to hear the aforementioned god begging on her behalf. He let the muzzle fall away and was not disappointed.
“Release her! She’s choking! She can’t breathe, by the elder gods, stop this!” Raiden roared. Shinnok moaned louder, but relented, pulling back just enough for Y/N to draw in a ragged breath. She swallowed painfully, eliciting a shudder from the elder god. He kept one hand in her hair, the other he trailed down to rest against her throat, taking in the sight of her beautiful, fucked out face.
“Once again you presume to order me around Raiden?” Shinnok chided. “Have you not learned your lesson?” He stroked Y/N’s hair as he began to thrust his cock shallowly into her mouth. “I tried to make it easy for you by muzzling you. After all, you can hardly get in trouble if you can’t speak.” His gentle rocking began to pick up. Y/N was still light headed from before, she weakly tried to swirl her tongue along his length, but Shinnok didn’t seem to mind her lackluster attempts. He kept steadily thrusting harder, deeper, feeling her throat contract around him further and further as Y/N concentrated on breathing, on fighting the urge to gag. Tears spilled from her eyes and her throat ached as Shinnok fucked it mercilessly. “You will not speak unless I order it, Raiden, or it will be Y/N who suffers the consequences. I can make this pleasurable for her or I can make it hurt. The choice is yours.” He chuckled as Raiden’s mouth snapped shut, eyes burning with fury.
Shinnok continued to fuck into Y/N’s throat, elated in having subdued his rival, orgasm approaching quickly as he watched her expression become soft and lax around his cock. Y/N’s head was fuzzy, the lack of air made her feel like she was floating as she relaxed further around Shinnok’s cock. He slammed into her once more and Y/N felt his length spasm as something thick and warm shot down her throat. She was forced to swallow, hearing Shinnok moan as his hand traced her throat where it stretched taut around him. He was still cumming as he slowly pulled back, rope after rope of his salty essence filled her mouth until finally he withdrew with a satisfied sigh. A few final spurts of his seed landed along her chin and the swell of her breasts.
“Swallow it.” He ordered before she could spit any out. Y/N did so, letting her mouth fall open after for him to inspect and he groaned appreciatively at how fucked out she looked. Her lips were an angry red, tears dripping from her eyes, and her face flushed so beautifully. She was drawing in rasping breaths, her eyes glazed over as she rocked back to sit on her heels. She looked up at him, hands resting on her thighs, and he couldn’t help but swipe his hand through the cum coating her face, collecting most of it on his fingertips. He fed it to her, pressing the salty fluid to her tongue and didn’t even have to give an order before she started cleaning his fingers gently. She suckled at them softly, her face burning with shame as she swallowed down more of his seed. He tugged them free with a pop, tracing a line from her chin down to the thick rope of seed on her chest. He massaged the sticky seed into the swell of her breast, marking her, staking a claim on her for Raiden to see.
“Such a sweet girl, behaving so well for me, pet.” Shinnok praised. She wanted to feel disgusted by his praise, but she was still coming down from her high and his words brushed over her nerves like silk, making her tingle and shiver with pin pricks of pleasure. “You did such a good job for your first time, taking me so well.” The praise crashed down on her, pleasure shooting straight to her core and she felt her cunt become slick as she bit back a moan. She squirmed, thighs pressed together, seeking any kind of friction. She ached to touch herself, and had to clench her hands to keep them still. Shinnok hadn’t given her permission to touch and she refused to do something unless he specifically ordered it. She prayed the fallen god wouldn’t notice how his words were affecting her. He didn’t seem to, content to continue rubbing slow circles into her skin as she recovered. Unfortunately, someone else had been watching her much more intensely.
“My lord, I believe your new pet is rather enjoying your praises.” Quan Chi chuckled. Shinnok glanced at Quan Chi, following his gaze to where it rested between her legs. He could see a few drops of liquid against the obsidian tiles beneath her, watched her thighs tremble and the way her face grew hotter was all the confirmation he needed. Shinnok smirked.
“Is my sorcerer correct, my pet? Do you like it when I tell you how sweet you are?” Shinnok dropped to one knee, hand hooking under her chin to force her to face him. “Such a sweet, gorgeous creature. You looked so beautiful swallowing down my cock. So lovely.” Shinnok grinned. He rested his other hand on her hip and could feel her squirming beneath the tips of his fingers. “Didn’t she look absolutely divine as she choked me down, Raiden?” His smirk grew wider, triumphant, as her body spasmed sharply. He could see more of her slick juices pooling along her crease, dripping onto the floor beneath her. He let his hand drift closer, swiping at it with his thumb. Y/N’s breath hitched at the shock of pleasure that gentle touch elicited. Shinnok glanced over at Raiden expectantly, savoring the war that waged behind the thunder god’s eyes, knowing that Raiden would have to answer, lest Shinnok unleash his wrath on Y/N. He leaned in closer to Y/N, lips inches from hers even as he kept his eyes trained on Raiden. “Come now, Raiden. She did so well for her first time. Surely she deserves some recognition.”
“You were beautiful, Y/N.” Raiden swallowed down the bile in his throat, choking on the words as her eyes met his. She was close enough that he could see how her breath became shallow, her body twitching in response to him and his own cock spasmed at the sight. He felt sick with guilt at how his body was reacting to just the sight of her laid bare before him. He reveled in how, despite this nightmare, she seemed to react so keenly to his voice, to his eyes boring into hers with such ferocity. Shinnok may have been the one touching her, but it was his gaze, his presence that brought her pleasure. It was enough encouragement for him to speak up. “You looked so perfect, so gorgeous, taking his cock so well. Absolutely beautiful.”
Y/N whimpered as her core clenched tight with pleasure from hearing Raiden speak such filthy things. Shinnok grinned, feeling another slick rush of fluid around his thumb. He pressed it deeper into her crease, teasing her clit as she gasped, hands reaching up to clench at the folds of his tabards (the god was shirtless beneath), steadying herself as she shamelessly spread her legs a little, allowing him better access. His other hand drew her face closer as he claimed her lips with his own. He kept up the gentle circles as he plundered her mouth, relishing the little ‘ah’ ‘ah’ sounds she made against his mouth. He could taste the remnants of his spend on her tongue as he sucked on it lightly. She whimpered as he finally drew back, feeling elated.
“Was that your first kiss, pet?” Shinnok asked, his thumb stilling against her clit. Y/N shook her head, eyes clenched shut as she struggled to control her breathing. She hated how easily Shinnok could manipulate her body. She didn’t want this to feel good. Shinnok’s thumb pressed harder against her, making her gasp into his mouth as he kissed her again. “Tell me about it; about your first kiss.”
“It was…” Y/N keened as his thumb began to move again. His fingertips dug into her thigh for purchase as teased her with slow steady circles. Her breath grew shallow and her core clenched, aching and empty, and Y/N felt her skin flush hotter. She'd never felt these sensations before; never thought she could burn so hot as if her very nerves were being plucked like chords. Her eyes met Raiden's just as Shinnok's finger slid over her clit and she moaned, thready and high pitched, legs trembling with need. She drew in a ragged breath, but there was no reprieve from the relentless drag of Shinnok's fingers. She let her eyes fall shut, head thrown back on another moan because she could feel Raidens' eyes burning into her, tracing the curve of her heaving breast, memorizing the way her face looked flushed with pleasure, the sheen of her sweat-slicked skin. It was too much. Seeing how badly he desired her was making every touch of Shinnok's hotter, more intense.
“It was at the sky temple, just after we defeated Shao Kahn.'' She started again. Her voice was just a bit gravelly, still sore from how deep Shinnok had fucked her throat and hearing it seemed to invigorate him. His thumb pressed harder, the rough pad dragging over her clit faster and Y/N moaned again. “I was in the garden’s… oh… hah… at… at the sky temple with, ah, with Raiden. He… hah, ahh… he kissed me, ah, under the moonlight. It was so… ohh… so sweet… perfect.”
Shinnok paused his hand and Y/N slumped forward, keening as the slowly building pleasure in her core slipped away. Shinnok glanced up, surveyed the room with a critical eye. He hadn’t realized just how sweet a prize Quan Chi had brought him. He'd never anticipated she was so inexperienced, so virginal; tailor-made to torment the thunder god at the most primal level. His eyes fell on his faithful servant and he wasn’t surprised to see Quan Chi’s pants stretched taut and bulging. He would have to reward Quan Chi for his patience. Plus, sharing her body with the sorcerer would cut Raiden even deeper. To see the person he loved and desired taken apart for the first time by his most hated enemy already such delicious torment, but to allow Quan Chi to share in the experience would burn so much deeper into the thunder gods psyche.
What did surprise him was the equally straining erection tenting the Raiden's pants. He was a sight to behold. On his knees, wrists bound tight behind his back, his usual calm and serene composure lost to the raging storm Shinnok always knew was buried deep down. Even though the collar around his throat suppressed his powers, there was still lightning crackling around Raiden's eyes as he watched Shinnok teasing Y/N. Oh, but how ashamed he must feel, taking pleasure from this! Shinnok could hardly blame him. Y/N had been breathtaking as she'd quivered beneath his expert touch. Shinnok shuddered with inspiration.
He kissed Y/N again, slow drags of his lips caressing hers, distracting her as he guided her to the floor, pushing her hands up above her head. He only pulled back as one of his skeletal hands snapped around her wrists, pinning her to the floor. She looked so debauched, back arched high, legs still pinned beneath her, thighs spread to make room for him in their warm cradle. Y/N blinked up at him, dread creeping back into her stomach as she tested her strength against the bonds. They didn’t budge. Shinnok trailed his hands down her torso, relishing the softness of her flesh, so smooth, so delicate under his slender hands as they settled along her breasts. He took his time exploring the plush mounds, plucking at her taut nipples, observing how each slow tease wound her tighter. He let his mouth drop down, licking a stripe across one pebbled nub and she bucked up into him with a moan. He flicked his tongue over and over, relishing the way she squirmed beneath. Once he had it nice and hard he bit down, scraping over it with his teeth before soothing the sting with his tongue. He let it go with an exaggerated pop, fingers twisting the now moist nub as he repeated this on her other side. Gods, he loved how responsive she was and pulled away to tell her just that.
“You respond so beautifully to my touch.” Shinnok grinned, knowing the praise would only drive her closer to the edge. “Such a sweet pet, moaning so prettily for me.” He kissed his way down her ribcage, licked a stripe from her belly button to the top of her crease. His hands followed the trail of his lips, skimming over her ribs, her hips, until his fingers dug into the soft flesh of her thighs.
He trailed them lower, hooked his fingers under her knees to manipulate her legs more easily. He guided them out from under her so her feet could rest on the floor. He didn’t want to hurt her and this new position allowed him to spread her legs wider, pushing them out and away so he could finally reveal her tight cunt. Y/N's legs instinctively tried to clench shut, but Shinnok only needed to squeeze once in warning for her to relax and let them fall apart around him.
“Good girl,” Shinnok crooned, hands trailing back up to squeeze at the soft swell of her flesh where her thighs met her core. He leaned in, licking a stripe from her hole to the top of her cunt, feeling her jerk and spasm under his finger tips. She tasted even sweeter than he had imagined, already wet and weeping from his attentions. He licked his lips, chasing that taste as he glanced at Raiden. “She tastes heavenly, Raiden, so deliciously sweet. She's already so wet for me, aren’t you, my dear?” He swiped a finger through her juices then traced it over her lips, grinning as her tongue darted out to taste. She shuddered as his thumb went back to her clit, flicking it harshly before sliding over it, down until it caught against the entrance of her pussy. He pushed in slowly, eyes still trained on Raiden as she arched her back and keened. “So, so sweet.”
He pushed his thumb deeper, deeper, pulling out only to push in again, watching her thrash in delicious torment. It was just enough pressure to drive her mad without pushing her over the edge. He kept at it, leaning in every so often to lap up the slick flooding out of her, teasing her until she had tears in her eyes again. Finally, he reached up to cup her jaw, forcing her to look at him. She looked absolutely desperate and that’s exactly how he wanted her. His eyes flicked up to lock with Quan Chi, a meaningful smirk on his face, and a matching grin spread across Quan Chi's lips as the sorcerer made his way toward the pair.
“You were so beautiful earlier, swallowing my cock, and my cum, and you’ve been so well behaved for me.” He pulled his thumb out of her with a soft pop, bringing it up so she could watch him suck the juices off with a moan. “Such a sweet, wonderful pet.” He grinned viciously. “You taste so divine, pet, that I can’t resist the temptation to feast. I’m going to fuck you with my tongue, suck out every last drop of your sweet fluid.” Shinnok grinned as Y/N’s breath hitched. His hands returned to Y/N's thighs, squeezing gently as Quan Chi dropped down beside her. Y/N gasped, watching the sorcerer free his aching cock from the tight confines of his pants. “I think my servant deserves a reward for his patience, don't you? It isn't often he brings me a gift this sweet. I trust you’ll take care of him as well as you did me.” Y/N nodded, her throat already aching at the thought and she let out a raspy 'yes'. "Good girl."
Y/N shuddered as Shinnok made his way back down to stare at her core. Her hands were still tightly bound, so all she could do was watch and wait for them to act. To use her as they pleased. Quan Chi was stroking his length, one hand settling in her hair to turn her head his way. She couldn't help but stare in horror as his massive cock grew thicker as he stroked it. She could already feel it filling out her throat, choking her, thicker already than Shinnok's though thankfully not quite as long. Y/N wondered, briefly, if Raiden was as well endowed; if he’d fill her throat the way Shinnok had. She had a flash of him in Quan Chi's position, feeding her his cock, her mouth stretched over it. Her whole body spasmed and a rush of slick soaked her cunt as she clenched tight at her core. She heard Shinnok gasp, watched Quan Chi pause, his cock inches from her lips as he glanced down to where the former elder god was transfixed on her slick cunt.
"My my, you just gushed my dear. We’re not even touching you yet look how utterly drenched you are. That eager for another cock in your throat?" Shinnok goaded, his thumbs pressed into her thighs as he looked at her. She shook her head, mortified at how her body reacted. "No? Then tell me, what made you so desperately wet?" He rubbed circles into her thighs, his breath hot against her soaked core, and Y/N felt tears prick her eyes again. "Use your words, pet. Tell me what you were thinking that made you soak my floors with your sweet juices."
"I… I,"Y/N keened as Shinnok's thumbs teased her skin, so tantalizingly close to her slick core. She couldn't help but glance over at Raiden. Gods, he was so close, only a couple yards away at most, but it felt like miles with how desperate she was to touch him. Just to interlock her fingers with his would be enough. She flushed as Raiden's eyes raked across her body and she looked away again. "I wondered if… if Raiden’s… if his cock was this large. I was thinking what it would be like to feel him down my throat. " Y/N whimpered. She wished the floor would open to swallow her. She couldn't meet Raiden's gaze, but there was no mistaking the aborted whimper that tore from his throat, or the ragged breaths that followed as he tried to keep his composure.
"I bet he wouldn't disappoint," Shinnok teased. "Look at how desperate he is. You can see how hard his cock is, straining his pants, soiling them with his seed. He's as wet for it as you are. He would fill you so good, so full, spilling down your throat and feeding you his cum." Shinnok pressed his nose against her cunt, inhaled that sweet scent as more juice gushed out of her. He nodded to Quan Chi, permission to continue as he nuzzled the inside of her thigh, his left hand drifting closer and closer to her core. "Go ahead and think of him, if you want. Take Quan Chi's cock like the sweet girl you are and think of your thunder god watching you come apart in front of his eyes."
Y/N whined, her breath caught in her throat, as Shinnok pressed his tongue flat against her hole, dragging it over her clit and back down. Her mouth fell open as he lapped up the mess that had already spilled out of her and Quan Chi took the opportunity to push forward, filling her mouth with the thick head of his cock. Y/N moaned around him, tongue swiping automatically over the tip, tasting the trickle of pre-cum that had collected there. She bobbed her head forward, sucking him deeper into her mouth, as far as she could with the limited range of motion she had. Her hands clenched into fists as she strained against the bonds.
Shinnok's tongue was like a hot brand on her cunt, expertly working her over. She felt pleasure building in her core as he sucked on her throbbing clit, swirling his tongue over the sensitive nub, her body responding beautifully to his touch. He worked his way down, savoring the taste as he lapped at her tight entrance before spearing her open with his tongue. She spasmed, body jerking under his hands as she pulled off Quan Chi with a high pitched whine. He fucked his tongue into her ruthlessly, delighted at the breathy moans leaving her as she took Quan Chi's cock back into her mouth. He released her thigh, bringing one finger up to toy with her folds before pushing it inside her, feeling her clamp down on the invading digit as he fucked it into her alongside his tongue.
Quan Chi groaned when Y/N spasmed around his cock, popping it out of her mouth with the most delicious cry of ecstasy. She was a truly magnificent sight, body flushed, spread open for them like a whore. He gave her a moment to revel in her pleasure before he directed her back onto his cock. Her chest was heaving, breathy moans reverberating around his thick shaft as she swirled her tongue over his glands. He gave an experimental thrust, pleased when she didn't immediately gag from his cock hitting the back of her throat. He thrust again, harder, more insistent, pushing through that tight resistance as she slurped at his length. She was drooling as he thrust again, a thin trickle of saliva leaking out, the very portrait of sin.
Y/N keened as Shinnok pushed a second finger into her, pumping them slowly and meticulously as he continued to suckle at her swollen clit. She felt her core growing tighter, hotter, pleasure building molten and heavy, threatening to spill over. Her jaw ached, stretched around the thick cock in her throat. Her thighs were quivering as Shinnok broke her down to nothing but moans and sobs of gut wrenching ecstasy. She felt that peak quickly approaching, back arching off the floor, tight as a bow string and Shinnok ripped his fingers free just before she could spill over. She barely had time to breathe before his hand came down on her clit, slapping it hard, firm, sending a bolt of pain/pleasure through her core and punching the air from her lungs.
Her throat squeezed tightly around Quan Chi and he laughed, breathy and smug, as he fucked into her throat harder, chasing his release. Shinnok slapped her again, striking over her quivering entrance, across her clit, his other hand tracing a path to her chest to toy with one of her breasts. Quan Chi stilled his thrusts, used the hand threading her hair to push her head up and down his cock, relishing the gagging, obscene noises she made as Shinnok began alternating between fucking into her tight channel with his tongue, before pulling back to smack her throbbing pussy. Each time he brought his hand down her body jerked, throat contracting deliciously around Quan Chi's cock. He began to thrust again, holding her head still and reaching down to tweak her neglected nipple between his fingers, mirroring his master's work. He felt his peak quickly approaching, his thrusts growing erratic as he pushed deep, deep into her throat. He held her there as he came, groaning with pleasure as he shot his seed down her throat. He pulled back just enough to let her inhale, tears dripping down her face, mixing with his cum as it spilled out around his cock. He continued to fill her throat, gagging her as he kept thrusting, riding out his orgasm, his cock stayed heavy on her tongue as the last weak spurt hit the back of her throat. She swallowed the thick, salty cum, licking the traces of it clean from his cock until he began to squirm from overstimulation and he pulled out of her with an obscene pop.
Shinnok gave her cunt one last smack, feeling her body go taut and plunged his fingers back inside her. He pumped them hard, fast, pushing up into the sweet spot inside of her relentlessly. His mouth latched onto her clit and he felt her gasp, then scream as she shook, squirting around his fingers, coating his hand, his mouth, even hitting his chest with her sweet juices. He didn't slow, didn't falter, forced her orgasm out of her wave by wave until her whole body went limp and she was quivering under him. He lapped up the mess, feasting on the rich taste. He could hear her aborted attempts to ask him to please stop, each time catching herself before she could give voice to the command.
Y/N was definitely floating now. She felt Quan Chi's hand caress her neck and hissed at how tender it was. His prodding was gentle, but methodical, taking stock of any damage that had been done. Her muscles were twitching, her nerves all on fire as that euphoria slowly faded. Shinnok's hand was a grounding presence against her thigh as she struggled to catch her breath. She hated how good the weight of it felt, as if it was the only thing that kept her anchored to reality. She tugged at the restraints on her hand, surprised when the pressure lifted. She didn't know what to do with them, moving at all seemed too difficult a task, so she simply left them above her head, letting the muscles relax as she continued to float.
For Raiden, it took everything in his power to stay silent, lest he incur Shinnok's wrath. He would make the elder god pay for this, he swore, but right now all he could think about was checking in with Y/N. He cursed silently as Shinnok and Quan Chi did nothing, content to watch the rise and fall of her chest, the way she trembled under their gentle caresses. It should be his hands holding her, soothing her, bringing her such pleasure. Shame welled up in him. He shouldn't be thinking of her like this. She shouldn't be in this position at all, yet it was hard to consider anything else but how desperate he was to hold her, to taste her, to take her apart under his hands. His cock was so hard and full it hurt. The silence stretched on until Raiden couldn't stand it another minute.
"Y/N. Are you alright?" His voice croaked, hoarse from both screaming and from the lust he tried so desperately to conceal.
"Speaking out of turn again? After Y/N has been so good for us?" Shinnok chided softly. "You are truly testing my patience, Raiden." Raiden growled, his fury growing by the second. Shinnok tapped Y/N on the cheek gently. "Come on, sweet girl, open your eyes for me. Let's see how you are fairing." Y/N groaned, her eyes snapping open to meet his own and she gave a shaky nod. Shinnok clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Use your words, pet. Your Thunder God is worried about you."
"I'm…" Y/N whimpered, her throat grating painfully as she tried to speak. She could barely manage more than a whisper. "I… it hurts. Please don't… hurts," was all she managed to whisper. Quan Chi stroked his hand over her throat softly.
"The poor dear. We really did a number on this, didn't we?" Quan Chi murmured, his deep voice reverberating through her. He glanced at Shinnok questioningly and at his master's assent he muttered softly under his breath, hand glowing and healing the tender flesh below. Y/N whimpered gratefully as the pain slowly faded. Her voice was still hoarse, but she sounded much less strained as she managed a soft thanks. Quan Chi brushed his fingers across her throat once more, reverently, before drawing up to full height, tucking his softening cock away with a groan.
"With respect, Shinnok, it appears one of my men has returned with another earthrealm prisoner. " Quan Chi added with a frown. "I should check in. If you have need of me?" The question trailed off, inviting orders from the fallen god.
"You're dismissed, Quan Chi. I expect a full report later on. I will call for you if I need assistance " Shinnok dismissed him with a wave and soon enough it was just him alone with Y/N, her hand slung over her face to hide her shame, and Raiden, who seemed on the verge of hysteria seeing Y/N like this.

✦ Oh boy! Here we go.
I created a LMK Au just for funsies. A furutistic, high technologic world with cyberpunk vibes! (Because I absolutely love this type of aesthetic)
✦ the picture above is just a quick drawing I did of Macaque in this AU. I will get into details about the AU while showing a few infos of a few LMKs characters alongside with their designs. (Just a reminder I'm still creating the AU and it's my first time making one. It might be a little messy, so I apologize if it gets too messy--)
Oh! And by the way, the characters on this AU follow the same basic formula as the original characters. So it doesnt have much changes, other than the world they live in, their clothes and a few events.
✦ MK, The Monkie Kid
Tumblr media
• Its the same thing as our little MK from the animated series, he works at Pigsy's Noodles as a delivery boy, is the Monkey king's biggest fan and is his successor and pretty much the basic stuff.
• He learned about the Monkey king with Mister Tang. He is a huge fan.
• Tho he isn't a great expert, he knows how to how to fix computer cases, machines and vehicles and build stuff by using old pieces (he learned with Pigsy and Sandy, just in case his delivery vehicle breaks in the middle of the road or a something start malfunctioning in the noodle store). As we can see, he works more in the hardware part.
• He likes to collect the old pieces of old devices that people throw away in the city's old graveyard. It's like a type of recycling. (That's also how he find the Monkey king's staff but that is a thing I will tell in details in another day--)
• He loves to draw!!! Hooray!!! He also likes to play games. Is always playing video games with his best friend, Mei, on the arcade or online.
✦ Mei, The White Horse Dragon Girl
Tumblr media
• She's a programmer/developer of softwares (Yes I know that in I drawing I said she's a "hacker but a bit clumsy" but actually i wanted to say shes a programmer. I was sleepy, it was 2 am, and my brain wasn't braining 😰😰😰---) with a few knowledge about hardwares. She created her technological helmet system with MK's help. (Her helmet it's similiar to Iron man's helmet from inside.)
• She built her own motorcycle, again with MK's help. She participates a lot motorcycles race just for funsies.
• Loves to play games. I guess I could say she is quite of a professional gamer? She play to win. But when she is playing with MK or with other friends, she doesnt care losing or winning, she only cares about enjoying some quality time with them.
✦ Liu'er Mihou, The Six Eared Macaque.
Tumblr media
• Pretty much same as the original Macaque. (Lost his eye in the past with a fight against Sun Wukong. Omg betrayal. Yknow the deal-)
• Here he is a Hacker/Cracker.
"But what is a cracker?" You may ask. Now it's time for my nerd/TI studant side take over. A cracker it's a mean hacker. The cracker breaks/attacks the systems and webs for their own benefit, which it's for illegal purposes. Now a Hacker it's actually a job, which their purpose its to find the security breaches and ways to how break it, so then they can make the security stronger and prevent invasions/attacks at the system.
With that being said, Macaque is a hacker/cracker. So he makes defense systems to himself and breaks into other systems for illegal purposes.
• He got these gloves that helps him hack things better, he created it himself. He create floating holograms like it's a tablet screen and can hold on these holograms using these gloves. With a simple touch he can steal database from a device and hack it's system. (He can hack machines, computers, tech weapons and even the light system.)
• He got his shadow magic too, same as the original one. Shadow clones, shadow portals... but he kinda makes a fusion between his magic and the technology he invented to himself. (Before anyone say it. YES! I got heavily inspired by Sombra from Overwatch. 😔)
✦ The Monkey King, Sun Wukong
Tumblr media
• Yeah, the Monkey king. The great sage equal to heaven. The silly who made a havoc on heaven---
• HE GOT THAT HUGE MECHA WE SAW IN THE ANIMATED SERIES BECAUSE HE DOESNT LIKE USING HIS KAIJU FORM !!!
But he doesnt use the mecha much. It has been CENTURIES since he last use it. Now MK is the one who uses it because he is Sun Wukong's successor.
• That's not his "Monkey King" royal clothes. It just some casual/comfy clothes to use in everyday life.
• He already knew who MK was. MK is a stone Monkey just like himself. Wukong have been watching the kid grow up from far. He grow a bit attached to the boy.
Sun Wukong surely wasn't expecting to MK being able to lift his golden staff, so he think in the opportunity to make him his sucessor and teach him how to use his new powers. (Yes, I was lisiting to "the horse and the infant" song. How did you kn--)
Oh God. That explanation was long.
✦ Welp, that's all for today!
I will post more stuff about the AU in the future. And I still need to think a name for it...
It is clear I got heavily inspired by Cyberpunk, techwear, overwatch, New Gods: Nezha reborn, Arcane and other stuff. I'm sorry, BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT AESTHETIC AND VIBES!! HHHHHHH-
✦ I'm a huge nerd. 🤓
