The Magnus Archives

oh man, strap in because this is 100% self-indulgent and i'm passionate about my Magnus AUs.

Mechanized Magnus- I've posted art for this one before! Basically a Mechanisms au. Jon, Tim, and Sasha have been Mechanized by Elias and now travel around space together collecting stories for him! Jon has a mechanized third eye that records and broadcasts. Sasha has a mechanized mind so she can maintain the ship and catalog everything they collect. A technological mind would also leave her open for her being re-written (not!Sasha). Tim has finger guns. Other archival assistants would be picked up and dropped off as they traveled from galaxy to galaxy. 

Then there are the actual stories. Imagine entire dystopian planets based around different aspects of the fears, kinda like season 5's domains but bigger and with society. For most of the story, Martin is stuck on a lonely planet ruled by the Lucas family going through what essentially what would be his own album.  

Tbh there's so much to explore with this au that it's kinda overwhelming haha. I don't have any sort of solid plot just a lot of world-building and a few key moments and touchstones. 

Also, it's just fun to imagine the crew getting up to immortal steampunk shenanigans together. (let them bond over committing crimes)

Time Travel but more Archivist Sasha- Okay take the Time Travel AU where Jon and Martin go back in time to stop the apocalypse but they end up in an Archivist!Sasha timeline instead (spiral shenanigans?). 

Soon the Boys find out that the role of the archivist wasn't the only thing swapped. This timeline includes Not!Jon, Martin who died during the gang's takedown of Peter and his lonely ritual, and Sasha waking up from the coma to find out that in Elias's absence the Stranger has taken control of the institute (Tim pretending to be Nikola's ringmaster anyone?)

It's essentially a roundabout everyone lives au and I'm dying to make little comic strips to tell it.

Hadestown au- What can I say? I like musicals. The parallels between   Orpheus's journey and bring back Eurydice and Jon's decent into the lonely to bring back Martin are already really interesting to me. The musical just puts that into a semi-modern setting and boy howdy am I in love. 

The roles just fit the characters so well. Jon as Orpheus who is so lost in his work he doesn't see the oncoming storm or hear Martin as he's struggling. Martin as Eurydice who's the quick-witted love interest that's been worn down by the fates and falls for Peter's tales about being able to take a nap. Peter as Hades who has constructed an industrialized society that lures vulnerable people in only for them to lose all their memories and happiness until only work remains? The only one not on the nose is Elias but there's something about him being the romantically-dissolution and bitter Persephone that sends me into stitches every time i think about it.

Pantheon of Fear Gods- A lot of fandoms have greek god aus and Magnus has these perfectly organized fear entities and what if we make it a little more religion? I've seen The Eye and The Watcher in sudo-Christian settings with churches and such but, I'm talking full-on personified fear gods as the titans and important avatars as the gods with other characters as the muses and fates and furies and such. 

Martin bringing the Muse of Writing & Knowledge aka Jon flowers and poems and other gifts in hopes of gaining inspiration until Jon falls in love with him thank you. 

Pirates in general- I just want to draw more pirate content honesty... Sky pirate Mike, Ghost Pirate Oliver, Navy Elias, Asian pirate Jude Perry who sets ships on fire to collide into her enemies... yeah

They all work at a haunted attraction-  'Tis the season to be spooky. Think Modern Retail au but the archive crew is working in a shitty haunted house instead. silly and lighthearted :) 

I've got more vague ideas that may become something but these are the ones I plan on making art for.
