Hi! Can you please do the eternal/human au but with thena being human and gil as the eternal this time, please? Your stories are so good!
Thena somewhat glanced to her right as someone else also sat down at the museum bench. She was looking up at one of her favourite relics--an old tablet potentially depicting one of the earliest examples of The Epic of Gilgamesh. She sighed. "Is this really about you?"
He sighed, his hands in the pockets of his black bomber jacket. "It's not the real story. Just something Sprite made up to make me sound like a jerk."
Thena looked up at the tablet again. "The Tyrant King in one of humanity's earliest tales, but you go by Gil?"
He shrugged his massive shoulders. "It's easier than Gilgamesh."
Thena looked at him more properly. She was very familiar with the face of the apparently immortal man next to her. Of course, she had thought he was a very mortal, very human person, just like herself. She had thought he was sweet, if a little shy, and that he just had a special interest in the history of the ancient world.
A very human man who had asked her out, and she had said yes.
"Were you okay?" Gilgamesh asked her more quietly, even given the echously silent exhibit. "Did anything happen close to here?"
"No," she admitted just as secretively. She looked at her hands on her lap over her pencil skirt. "We felt some tremors, but I suppose you took care of things at the epicentre."
Gilgamesh squirmed in his seat.
She had been watching the news, knowing that he was closer to the centre of the city at the farmer's market. The footage was shaky, and the world was acclimating to strange and wild events more and more rapidly. But still, seeing some deviant beast running around London was certainly a shock.
Even more so when the news footage seemed to capture the blurry image of an incredibly strong looking man, literally punching said monster straight through the skull. His face was still a mystery, but he didn't have the average build, certainly. And Thena had known right away that it was Gil.
"Are you a wizard?"
"Pfft, no," he scoffed, waving his hand in the air to dismiss it. "We've seen those guys pop up all over the place, but I wouldn't call what we do 'magic' in any way."
"Then what do you call it?"
Her sharp question landed as intended, and he sighed again. He turned somewhat on the opposite side of the bench from her. She eyed him. "Cosmic Energy."
"So you're an alien?"
"Uh, I guess I don't have a better word for it," he made a face, finally pulling his hands out of his pockets to fidget. He scratched at the hair on his chin. "Eternals is what we're called, uh, officially--I guess. We've been on earth for..."
They both looked up at the tablet again, describing the strength and might of 'Gilgamesh' the tyrant.
He rolled his eyes, "I guess you know, give or take a thousand years."
Thena did look at him more now, as opposed to glaring at him from the corner of her eye. He looked truly contrite, and she knew that he wasn't particularly comfortable with little white lies. Apparently larger ones were more necessary though. "So when you said you could 'really picture yourself' in the battle of Troy, or the siege of Alexandria-"
"I mean we couldn't be everywhere at once," he excused for himself, his smile convincing neither of them. He gave it up rather quickly, sagging again. "But, uh, yeah."
They fell into silence, Gil in particular struggling for what to say next. Thena looked around the museum. She had always been so entrenched in history from all over the globe. The museum felt more like home than her cold and neglected one bedroom flat ever did. And when she had first thought Gil was quite like a walking historic encyclopedia - like a walking piece of history - perhaps she hadn't been so far off.
"So," she started in what she hoped wasn't too bitter a tone of voice, "why talk to me?"
Maybe it didn't work, because Gilgamesh certainly looked like she had screamed and slapped him across the face.
"Or do you make a habit of chatting up humans?" she added, and that part was more acerbic. This wasn't even about their relationship, or the lie of who he was at his core, or even his species.
"Thena," he pleaded, sounding like she had stabbed him through the heart. Would that even kill him?
But she did feel bad. Against her better judgement, she regretted that she had hurt his feelings. She huffed, mostly at herself, "I would think befriending humans would be dangerous for you."
"It can be."
She looked at the honest confession in time to see the sad slouch in his posture.
"We outlive basically everything, and we have to move pretty often, especially with wifi and phones and stuff, now. We don't usually get to really meet or get to know people anymore."
Gil had said Eternals, plural, and she had heard him discuss a few names like 'Sprite' or 'Kingo' before, implying he had some kind of kin or at least some of his own as friends. She didn't know these other Eternals, but knowing what of Gilgamesh she did, she had to imagine that it was hard for him.
Gil was sweet, and charismatic and gentle. And he seemed to genuinely love getting to hold the door open for people, or helping someone elderly with their bags or petting stray cats. He seemed to thrive most when he was surrounded by life, no matter how fragile or temporary it was--how mortal it was.
"I ended up here to keep my sister some company after," Gil slipped his hands back into his pockets, a sign of uncomfortability in both mortals and immortals, evidently. "She and her husband had a split, I guess you could say. I didn't want her to be alone, so I moved here a few years ago. It was just going to be for a decade or so, then maybe we'd go our separate ways again or maybe we'd move on somewhere else together."
Just a decade or so, he said.
"But then," he looked at her with a soft smile, and unfortunately it still made her heart skip. "I met you."
She forced herself to frown at that.
"I didn't mean to," he confessed, and she wasn't sure if that made it better or worse. "Sersi told me all about the museum here, and to see all the stuff people have gotten right or wrong over the years. She met some human, which I told her not to. I guess I can't really say anything about it now, though."
He truly did sound like a brother disapproving of his sister's boyfriend. And he truly didn't have any leg to stand on now, either. "Was it because of Sersi-"
"No, no," he shook his head and looked at her all soft eyed again. "It's not because of anything. It was...it was because of your eyes."
"My eyes?" she felt the need to repeat aloud. It sounded like a cheesy pickup line, or something from a tawdry romance novel. But she supposed that if Gilgamesh had heightened senses, perhaps he would be able to discern her eye colour from an unreasonable distance.
"I used to look out over the water all the time," he recounted, even turning to look at a painting on another wall. "My favourites were always really calm and green and sparkly."
Damn this man and his charming words.
He tilted his head back in her direction. "I was just gonna ask you some dumb question to chat a little and then leave. But then you got so passionate when I asked you the wrong thing on purpose."
She pursed her lips faintly. He had - deliberately? - asked her about the 'Minerva' statue they had, and where in Greece it had been made. It had immediately irked her that he had gotten the Roman name for her right, then the location also right, but in direct conflict with the other half of his question. Surely if he knew the name Minerva, he knew that was not what they called her in Greece--Athens, of all places!
Then he had asked her name, and she had to explain that Thena was not some nickname but her actual, legal name. The thought had charmed him and...and they kept talking from there.
He had picked just the right topic to get her to unload her entire master's degree of knowledge upon him, and he had eagerly listened to all of it. Most would flee partway through, but he had happily followed her around basically the whole floor as she recounted the many details and secrets and misinformation about her expertise.
And he had come back the next day for more.
"I loved hearing you talk about it," he whispered, moving a little closer now that he felt he could. "You were so passionate about it. I could really remember some of those times, and what I couldn't remember, I felt like I could imagine with how you described it."
"Thena, I just loved talking with you. I loved asking you silly questions, I loved you correcting me about stuff. I especially loved when we got interrupted that one time for your real job, and you offered me your card in case I had more questions."
He had pretended to have more questions. And they did actually end up texting that way. And then making plans that weren't just him showing up at her workplace. And then those plans became dates. They'd had five dinner dates and two lunches, and two coffees, although one of those had still been under the guise of their shared love of history.
"I wanted to get to know you more."
Even if he knew he would inevitably have to leave her life in a matter of months, if not years. It was a petty and bitter reaction, but maybe that was the truest way she felt about it; that he would have had to abandon her sooner than later. He thought those consequences were worth the risk, and she wasn't sure how to feel about it.
Because she didn't want to lose him, thinking about it now. And the fact that she now knew that she would have to no matter the future was a slap in the face of her own.
"No matter how soon you would have had to leave London for a small lifetime?" she accused, using the adrenaline in her system to drown out the pain she was feeling.
But Gil didn't turn away from her scathing demand. He looked at her with those eyes that she had always seen as holding more than he ever said within. He clasped his hands in front of him, resting on his knees. "After meeting you, I didn't know if I could."
Thena looked down at her lap again as well. It had been a few months since she'd met Gil. And if what he said was true, he hadn't intended on staying in London long, let alone permanently. She wasn't sure how long he had been here before meeting her, either. But Sersi's relationship with Dane was no more than a year old, by now.
"Sersi asked me," he laughed dryly. "She asked if I knew what I was getting myself into, which was rich, coming from her."
He sounded exactly like a protective brother.
"I said I totally had it under control," he laughed at himself, which was something she - foolishly - found so charming about him. "No worries, y'know, so I made a friend, so what? It would be good for me. Next thing I know, I bought my first phone just so I could text you."
She stared. "You didn't have a phone before?"
He waved his hand dismissively again, and maybe she could see why a few of his mannerisms really seemed more like that of an old man than a gentleman in his late forties at most. "Sersi's been trying to convince me. She's so addicted to hers it's ridiculous. She even made an instagram! I told her she would just have to delete it in a few years but-!"
Thena held back a laugh as he cut himself off. "Should I feel honoured, or even more betrayed?"
It had been half joking and half serious, but Gil took on that sad, wounded expression again. "You have every right to feel that way. But Thena, I swear on all the time I have left: I chose to stay, so I could be close to you. I wanted to spend whatever time we could have together...with you."
It was a humbling admission. She didn't quite want to imagine the heavier implications of that. The idea of Gil never aging while she slowly became an old woman beside him. Or did he have some kind of magic, or Cosmic Energy rather, that would help with that? It sounded like Sersi had accepted the consequences of her dalliance with a human.
Gil had asked her if she would want to go to dinner with Sersi and Dane as a couple. Although now all she could think of was the two Eternals smiling on as their humans chatted away about trivial human things.
"Thena, please," Gil slid closer again, taking her hand in his. "I know I sound insane, and I don't blame you if you say you want nothing to do with me after this. But I never lied when I told you liked you, or that I wanted to spend the rest of my days listening to you talk about South American architecture, or Grecian olive harvesting, or the Guptan Empire."
Thena squeezed her eyes shut, feeling tears in them. Gil swooped forward pulling her closer to him, always eager to comfort. He pressed his lips to her temple.
"I'm so sorry, sweetheart. I never meant for you to get hurt."
She believed that. Because Gil would never be capable of wishing harm on her. He probably wasn't capable of really wishing it on anyone, except maybe Sersi's ex-husband. She wouldn't have believed him capable of causing harm either, until the news today.
"If I could trade the rest of my forever for one more day with you, I would."
Maybe that was easy to say for someone who really did have a forever. She looked at him, wild in the eyes.
"Sorry," he whispered, looking away from her. He gave her cheek another kiss before releasing her slowly. "I'll give you time to think. If...if you don't want to talk anymore, I'll understand. But if I don't hear from you in a few days, can I at least come check if you're okay?"
She nodded, completely without the words to ask him to stay. He took it though, nodding back and then walking towards the far exit of the museum floor. She could hear his steps the whole way, although her heart felt like it was pounding at the inside of her skull.
She had a lot to think about. Aliens and monsters and immortal Eternals who had been on Earth for thousands of years. Did this have anything to do with how half of the earth's population vanished in the blink of an eye those years ago? Did they also blip? Could they?
She had so much to think about, so much to worry about. And the only person she wanted to talk to about it all just left.

My thoughts on the Eternals SPOILERS
Two years late, I finally got around to watching Marvels “Eternals.” And I obviously have to write a ridiculously long tumblr post on what I thought about it.
I think something that made me appreciate it a lot more on a rewatch was realizing that this was never supposed to be a standard Marvel movie. My first watch had me complaining that more than half the film was spent getting the gang back together, instead of on cool action scenes. But “Eternals” isn’t an action movie at all, though its actions scenes are great. It’s a film about family.
Second: let’s discuss the characters, who are at the heart of this story.
I don’t agree that every character was completely underdeveloped. They all have very distinct personalities, for starters: Ajak, the mom of the group; Ikaris, the little bitch--sorry, I mean PERFECT SOLDIER--Sersi, the goody-two-shoes; Phastos, the smart one; Druig, the hangry one; Makkari, our fave speedster/hoarder; Sprite, the sarcastic one; Gilgamesh, the lovable giant; Thena, the badass-who-still-struggles-with-mental-health, the quiet but strong type; and Kingo, the funny one who loves his family and is SUPER extra, as befits a Bollywood star. HOWEVER, they definitely needed more than a 3-hour movie to develop them.
For example: Why was Ajak the Prime Eternal? Her power is healing, not fighting. While I liked that deviation from traditional superhero roles, why did Arishem choose HER instead of, say, Ikaris to remember their past lifetimes and lead the team? I love Ajak a lot more than Ikaris and she seemed to actually be a great leader. I just want to figure out Arishem’s motivation.
And speaking of Ikaris, WHY was he so devoted? The others got the whole “duty, no interfering with humans” spiel from Ajak, but they still have critical thinking skills. Why was Ikaris so ready to turn against the people he considered family and kill a leader he seemed to genuinely respect and love as a mother figure? Why did he leave Sersi? Why was everyone so happy to fight him at the end? Like, Ikaris is annoying as shit (this post is not Ikaris-stan-friendly, I’m sorry), but the movie’s whole thing is family??? But...they all wanted to kill the one guy who turns out to be a villain at the end? Thena already seemed a little annoyed with him in Babylon at the beginning of the movie, but how about a few glimpses of the others getting annoyed with his know-it-all-ism?
Sersi. Sersi, Sersi, Sersi. I wanted to love you so bad. My main problem with Sersi, after careful consideration of why i found her character annoying, really isn’t that she’s softer than say, Thena, or cries more than Makkari; it’s that it feels like she doesn’t really have...more than three emotions? Happy, confused, and sad. For example, when Ikarkis reveals that he’s killed Ajak, she kind of just cries until he goes away. She looks at him kind of sadly when he’s defeated and flies into the sun. How about some anger through those tears? Let her cry and stuff for her ex-husband of 500 years. But show me that she can have “uglier” moments, too. I did love that they showed her moving on with Dane, though. We love a gal who knows her worth. I also would’ve loved to see her standoffish from Ikaris when he comes back. The guy abandoned her with seemingly no explanation 500 years ago. Keep him several arms’ lengths away, girl.
No notes on Druig. I love him so much. I’ve been converted into a Barry Keoghan stan and I have no regrets.
Makkari I felt like was also pretty cool. We know she’s a speedster, a hoarder, the only person Druig can tolerate for more than thirty seconds at a time, is generally the cheery one, but also has her dark side, like (rightfully) trying AND ALMOST SUCCEEDING to kill Ikaris after he almost kills Druig. My only criticism is that the deleted scene of her talking to Sprite was cut! Like, that was so good! More on that in the Sprite section, but we get a bit of Makkari’s motivations for wanting to stop the Emergence.
Phastos was also cool. I feel like we got what we needed to know about him--the dangers of technology and how it’s used, how he regained his faith in humanity, etc.--but not really his relationship with the other Eternals. That’s actually something that could’ve been improved on in general. They all really feel like a family, but there’s not much in the way of their individual relationships (Makkari and Sprite, Phastos and Druig, Ikaris and Gilgamesh...)
Sprite’s thing about being in love with Ikaris was stupid and cringey. Her conflict about not being able to grow up and experience what she wants is a lot more interesting, but for some reason, they decided not to explore that! It should’ve been her ultimate motivation and set up from the start of the movie. Her deleted scene with Makkari has her talking about how Babylon was their only real home on this planet, again setting up how Sprite’s never really fit in here.
Gilgamesh didn’t last long (*Sob*), but we get a pretty good feel for who he is. But why didn’t they mention his death again apart from Thena? Like...Makkari and Phastos never reunited with him! Why didn’t we also get their reactions to his death as well as Ajak’s?
I LOVE THENA. No notes.
I also love Kingo. I love how they kind of went in a grey area with him, with him being devoted to Arishem and not agreeing with stopping the Emergence, but refusing to hurt his family the way Ikaris did. I thought that was an unusual and much-appreciated angle to take.
Ikaris and Sersi, obviously, had no chemistry, and while I agree that in present-day, they’re probably SUPPOSED to feel like an awkward, divorced couple, even in their Babylon love story they feel like...two actors who are being forced to pretend to be in love for a paycheck. Like, I’m sure Gemma and Richard are great actors individually but together it doesn’t work. Was I supposed to feel sad that they broke up and wonder why the hell Ikaris left? Nah. I cringed. I skipped over their dry sex scene. I looked for Druig eating fruit during their wedding.
Druig and Makkari though? THEY HAVE MY FUCKING HEART AND SOUL AND MIND AND BODY. I love them, I love them, I love them. I will always love them till the day I die.
I also loved how Thena and Gilgamesh’s relationship can be interpreted as ride-or-die besties or old-married-couple or a mix of both, rather than a romance being forced down your throat. Refreshing angle to take, once again.
This movie was refreshing for phase 4 because, unlike CERTAIN FILMS (*cough* thorloveandthunder *cough*), there’s dialogue outside of cheap comedy. A visually stunning movie. I didn’t think it was as bad as a lot of people said, but I also think it would’ve been soooo much better as a miniseries, with more time to explore each eternal.

Jealous Druig Headcanons
Druig x reader Druig x eternal!reader Druig angst
Tumblr media
Druig never caught notice of you having feelings for another guy in the thousands of years he’s known you
When you fall head over heels for a mortal, it shatters his heart
“A fuckin mortal? Really?”
His accent really picked up in that line
You noticed a mood change in him, but thought nothing of it
He has always had such a strange demeanor over the years
His real feelings for you started to show once you started becoming exclusive with this mortal
Ajak had to keep him in place a few times, reminding him to leave the humans alone
No matter what
“She gets to fuck one! Why can’t I fuck with one?”
He had never realized how strong his feelings were for you
Unfortunately, your fling was mortal
You only called him a fling, he would die before you could ever feel like you’ve had a long enough relationship
Long enough to last a lifetime
When he died, you were a mess
You were in love with the poor mortal, even if you meant to fall in love or not
Time was a gift, but also a curse
You were sitting at the edge of your bedroom on your balcony step watching the river flow beneath you
You were trying not to cry, but the tears were winning the battle
You thought you were alone, but was shocked when you heard footsteps behind you
“Druig?”
He sat next to you
“You’ve been crying?” he asked, playing dumb
He hated your mortal fling more than anything, but hated seeing you like this more
“I loved him Druig,” you cried
He held you in his arms as you cried into his shoulder
“Do me a favor?” he asked
“Don’t fall for another mortal. I can’t stand seeing you like this,”
“What? Why?”
“Just don’t Y/N.”
“Druig, you don’t have the right to tell me what to do.”
You were right, and that made him upset
He just wanted to scream out how badly he wanted you then and there
He left you be, and planned on being pretty cold to you for a while
He watched you from the sidelines, his crush was only growing bigger
One day you were with Sersi walking around the village and encountered Druig with Phastos
“Hey guys!” you greeted them with your smile
Phastos was kind in return, but Druig gave you a cold stare
“What’s his problem?” you asked Sersi
She let out a laugh
“Can’t you tell?”
“Tell what?”
“How he’s been in love with you for the last like what- thousand years?”
You stopped cold in your tracks. “What?”
“I’m assuming that’s why he’s mad. Everything with your fling and all,”
You turned to Sersi with a concerned look. “Sers, are you kidding me? After all this time?”
You reminisced to the first time you were here. On earth. You had fallen in love with Druig the second you met him, but watched him cling to Makkari. You loved Makkari and didn’t want to hurt her, so you let it go.
Thinking of it now, they were just close friends. That had been established for hundreds of years.
“Maybe go talk to him. I heard Ikaris saying he’s been complaining for ages about it. He’s tired of hearing him whine.” Sersi responded.
You left Sersi and went to go find Druig. He wasn’t with Phastos anymore, Phastos directed you to your row of houses.
“Druig?” you yelled, opening the gate to his house.
You found him alone trying to calm down after what seemed like a fit of anger
“What’s wrong?”
Druig was embarrassed by you catching him like this.
“Nothin,” he said, trying to brush you off.
“Dru, come on. Sersi told me.”
“Told you what, huh?”
You got closer to him as he took deep breathes.
He thought you smelt so good
“I know you like me Druig,” you said, sitting down next to him cris crossed on the floor.
“Sersi’s full of it. Honestly.”
“Oh,” you said, disappointed
He could sense your disappointment, it was taking everything for him not to read your mind
“Hey,” he said, picking up your chin with his fingers.
“Don’t be sad pretty girl.”
Your eyes fluttered when he said that, the widest smile came to your face.
You sprang up and gave him a hug
He was surprised at first, but eventually melted into your being.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” you whispered in his ear
He pulled away
“I didn’t want to hurt you even more,”
“Oh Druig, you wouldn’t have hurt me. I’ve loved you for a while now.”
“W-what about the mortal?”
“Mortals come and go. You’ve always been there for me.”
“Your mine?” he asked you
“I’m yours,”

Something I need
Druig x female!reader
Words count:1.2k
Warnings:Blood, mild violence
Summary: You and Druig had parted ways from the other Eternals centuries ago, but an unexpected incident forces you to join them again...
Masterlist
Part 2
Minimal inspiration from:
Tumblr media
Eternals. That's what we were. We have lived on earth among the humans for 7000 years, but sometimes I still had my difficulties with understanding mankind. Thanks to Druig, I didn't exactly had to interact with them very often.
Since our group split up, Druig and I never left each other's side. We protected each other and stayed together for all these years, only to land in a small jungle, living in a village, whose Residents were all controlled by Druig.
We had found peace.
Tumblr media
"Where are you going?"
I turned around, as Druig grabbed my Hand, effectively stopping me from going out.
"Just going for a walk around the village", I answered and eyed him down, " Are you alright? "
He only nodded:" Yeah, it's fine"
He let go of my hand and sat down, but I didn't walk away. Instead I stepped closer to him, grasping his cheek. Druig looked up to me.
"Something's wrong", I whispered.
He sighed and carefully leaned against my chest.
"It's just...", he mumbled.
"Yeah?", I said and looked down to him.
He shrugged:"I have a bad feeling"
"What do you mean?", I asked confused.
Druig looked at me and jumped up before walking towards a window.
"I just have the feeling, that something...or someone is coming.
Cautionly, I stepped closer." Do you think the others are coming? ", I asked and leaned my head on his shoulder while my arms snuck around his waist.
" I don't know", Druig whispered.
"If it's anyone else, we can handle it. Don't worry", I said.
Druig chuckled. "You mean, you can handle it", he said and turned around, taking my hands in his.
I had the ability to control the elements. Fire, Water, Wind and Earth were powerful weapons in a fight.
A smile crept onto my face:"Fine, I can handle it."
"See?", Druig laughed, before he leaned down to me.
He pressed a passionate kiss to my lips while pulling me closer.
"I love you", I whispered, leaning my forehead against his.
Druig opened his mouth, but a deep rumble went through the house before he could say something.
Druig sighed:"They're here"
"Seems like you were right", I smiled, "As always"
Tumblr media
I couldn't believe my ears. What Sersi just told us, couldn't be true. It just couldn't.
While I was quite speechless, Druig seemed to be rather angry.
"We need you, Druig"
I looked over to Sersi. She told us her plan, but it would require Druigs powers. He didn't seem to like it and stormed off leaving us behind.
"He is as stioc as ever, isn't he?", Icaris stated, looking over to me.
"He just learned that his entire life is a lie! How would you react?"
"We still need him", Sersi interrupted us.
I only sighed and sat down:"He needs time to think, guys"
"Can't you go and talk to him?", Kingo asked.
I scoffed:"It's his decision after all"
"Y/N"
It was Sprite. I looked at her. Surprisingly she stayed calm and came over to me:"We need him"
She held her hand out to me. I looked at her and then at the rest of the group.
"Fine", I said and took her hand. She pulled me up and smiled:"I knew, you wouldn't disappoint us"
"As I said, it is still his decision", I mumbled and made my way outside to surch for Druig.
I couldn't find him near the house. He must have wanderd off to think about Sersi's plan.
I walked a little bit away from the village, before I heard People scream and shout.
I quickly made my way back to find out what was going on.
I looked around and saw several deviants attacking the villagers. I immediately went to attack them. Druig and I protected this village for ages. I was not going to let them die now.
One of the deviants now noticed my presence and went to attack me.
I used my powers to create fire and attacked him with it. He backed off a little but soon went back to attack, but he was stopped by Kingo.
He fired at him and looked at me and Sprite.
"You have to distract him", he shouted and turned around to prepare his attack.
I looked at Sprite. She nooded, before sprinting towards me.
I folded my hands and when Sprite jumped onto them, I pushed her upwards to attack the Deviant.
She stabbed it into the throat while I formed shackles out of earth in order to hold him down.
"Hurry up, Kingo!", Sprite shouted. She had trouble with holding the Deviant, but Kingo was finally ready and attacked it from down under, effectively killing it.
I breathed out heavily and got up, smiling at Sprite. Our little trick still worked, even after all those years.
My smile faded as Sprite suddenly shouted and pointed behind me:"Y/N, look out!!"
But it was to late, I felt something pierce through my arm and then my ribs before I was yanked to the side.
I cried out in pain and looked at the Deviant in front off me. He came closer to me while another one attacked Sprite and Kingo.
I tried to get up, but it was useless. I felt blood drip from my side and groaned in agony.
The deviant was still coming closer, but he was suddenly attacked by the villagers who shot at him with their rifles.
"Y/N, are you alright?!", I heard Druig say before he came running towards me.
"I've never been better", I said jokingly as he helped me up.
Druig eyed my arm and rips.
"Damn it", He whispered, "I shouldn't have left you alone"
I smiled:"It's alright, come on!"
Sersi was able to trap the Deviant with a tree and we tried to escape but it seemed useless until Ikaris came back. He was able to kill the Deviant who had attacked Sprite and Kingo.
As we slowly settled back down, I really started to feel my injuries. That we had lost Gilgamesh didn't make our situation any better.
Druig slowly helped me laying down and treating my wounds.
"We have to help them", I said and grabbed his hand.
He only sighed and continued with my bandages. I watched him finish his work in silence.
"Druig", I whispered.
"I could've lost you today", he pressed out.
"But you didn't"
"But I could have!!", he shouted.
I carefully sat up and looked at Druig. He stared out of the window and watched the others prepare Gilgamesh's Funeral.
"We lost Gilgamesh today", my voice was shaking. I tried hard to keep the tears from spilling.
"They need you...We need you"
Druig turned around and looked at me. He slowly sat down beside me and took my hand.
"All I need is you", He whispered and kissed the back of my hand, "I enjoyed these last years with you and I don't want to lose this memories. I don't want to lose you..."
A tear rolled down his cheek. I slowly wiped it away and kissed his cheek.
"Let's save this planet", I said.
Druig stood up and took my hand:"Let's put a celastial to sleep"

“Call me when you land, I still think you should’ve taken my private jet.” Kingo laughed, arms wrapped around the shorter Eternal, a laugh escaped her as she hugged him back.
“I gotta ask, how did you manage to get your hands on Asgardian liquor?” She questioned, feeling the beginning of a hangover from the fun they had the night before, Kingo shrugged in response.
“Thor’s a good friend of mine.” He stated, nervously looking away when she continued to stare at him, waiting for the real answer.
“Ugh fine.” He gave up hiding the truth. “I won an auction on eBay.” He confessed, causing her smile to widen even more. A voice was heard over the intercom announcing that a flight will begin to board soon, she recognised the flight number as the one printed on her ticket and therefore bid farewell to her friend before making her way to the queue for the aeroplane.
Although she enjoyed spending time with Kingo and watching him prepare for his new movie, she couldn’t wait to get back home away from the overcrowded streets, to get back to the place that made her feel the most herself she’s ever been. Her phone began to ring, distracting her from her train of thoughts. She glanced at her phone to read the incoming caller ID.
“Did you check the photo I sent to the message thread?” Sersi questioned on the phone while making her way through Trafalgar Square in London. “Hello to you too.” She responded, laughing as she glanced around the airport while waiting to board.
“The main chat or the one without Ikaris?”
She heard Sersi sigh in response. “The one with.” She answered.
Unlocking her phone to read the messages, she noticed two pictures that were sent by Sersi. Both photographs of a billboard which displayed a single gold dagger with a cerulean blue handle as well as a crown with flowers created out of gold wrapped around it, both were objects discovered to be from thousands of years ago from what was once called Mesopotamia, in 5000 BC to be exact.
And also created by two eternals.
Scrolling through the chat she read all the responses from the fellow Eternal’s and the lack thereof, Phastos reminisced of the past while Kingo responded with how he despised his hairstyle during that time, she noticed how Druig didn’t bother to respond to the messages itself. Preferring to like the photograph of the flower crown instead.
She let out a chuckle once done reading the responses, before getting interrupted by the boarding agent to give them her ticket she said goodbye to Sersi, promising to call her back once she lands.
“Oh shit, I’m late for work.” Sersi responded before ending the call, allowing the other Eternal to finally board the plane home. Hours later she found herself in a taxi, directing the driver to the designated location only to get an odd look from him.
“That’s in the middle of a forest?” He questioned, staring at the Eternal through the rear view mirror, she hummed in response too distracted to be invested in the conversation, overhearing the driver whisper something incoherently. Over an hour had passed since the two last spoke, the driver opting out of small talk due to the weird nature of the woman as she continued to stare out the window admiring the nature surrounding them while they drove further into the forest.
The car suddenly halted as the man immediately hit the brakes. “What the hell?” He questioned, getting out of the car to see a broad tree that was on its side, blocking the dirt road. Branches were scattered around the trunk of the tree, the roots were pulled out almost as if something pulled the tree out of the ground and onto the road, which was physically incapable.
Unless you were something not of this Earth.
She got out of the car seconds later, contemplating whether she could put the tree back in its original spot and continue her journey home but that risked letting the strange man know about her ‘special abilities’.
A loud rustling from the depth of the forest distracted her train of thoughts causing her to squint, attempting to look into the forest but failing due to nightfall. It was almost impossible to see anything.
The rustling was heard again but this time much closer, as if it was approaching the two of them.
“Hey lady! Get back in the car.” The driver ordered, wanting nothing more but to drive away and get to safety. She flicked her hand and within a second bioluminescent flowers surrounded the duo, allowing a small glow to expose what was approaching.
Crawling on all fours, wings raised up with its jaw wide open, teeth sharpened, she recognised the unmistakable Deviants she previously believed were to be wiped out over 5000 years ago. A piercing roar cut through the air causing the man to jump in fear, rushing inside of his car, headlights turning on as he presses the horn of the car grabbing the attention of the deviant.
The deviant cocked it’s head to the side as it stared at the human before turning towards the Eternal, charging towards her. She gasped as she ran in front of the car, a golden aura surrounding her almost immediately as the fallen tree was thrown at the deviant as if it was made of styrofoam.
The deviant dodged the trunk, it’s anger bubbling as it once again charged for her, wanting nothing more but to kill her.
“Go get out of here!” She shouted at the driver who did so with no hesitation, leaving her to fight the creature alone. Her eyes were now glowing as vines began to wrap itself around the deviant's wings pulling them down onto the ground, within seconds the deviant caught loose of its grip and aimed for the Eternal once again, not blinking an eye towards the car that sped away.
It felt like minutes had passed as she continued to fight, attempting to protect herself from the deviant but wanting nothing more than to be in her bed at home.
She glanced back at the direction the car drove off towards, wondering why the deviant didn’t acknowledge the human, focusing all its energy towards the eternal instead. Her head was slammed against the dirt road, powder of dust enveloping the air as the Deviant pinned her down with its claws digging into her torso. A throbbing sensation was felt at the back of her skull and she swore she could feel bleeding, she looked up at the Deviant in fear as it’s jaw opened, teeth barred and ready to pull her apart limb from limb. The eternal panicked as she allowed her eyes to glow once more, fingers twitching as a large tree was ripped out of the earth and shoved its way through the skull of the deviant, blood splattering over her, combining with her own.
She slid from under the creature, breath heavy as she stood up, touching the back of her head wincing as she felt a fresh wound oozing out blood. Attempting to pick up her bags that the driver tossed out onto the road before speeding off, she began to tread towards the village, the corpse of the Deviant wrapped around thick vines that dragged the body alongside her as she limped her way home, battered and bruised.
By the time she got a view of the village it must’ve been past three am, hours had passed since she separated from the driver and killed the deviant, the lights were all out except for the simmering fire that sat in the middle of the village. She paused, dropping her luggage for a couple minutes to gather her breath, one more break before she’d be at home in her comfortable bed, surrounded by her favourite people.
She assumed everyone was asleep due to the quietness of the place, she could hear the alpacas begin to lay down on the ground to get comfortable, as she neared the village she noticed a man sitting on the steps, head in his hands, he looked as if he’s been sitting there for hours, waiting. As soon as he heard her steps he looked up.
“And where the hell have you been, you were s’posed to be here hours ago-“ Druig’s sentence was cut short.
The frustration that was once on his face was wiped away as he took in the sight of her, the dried blood on her clothes, bruised and beaten down as she limped her way towards him, her eyes were still glowing as she used her abilities to drag the deviant's corpse with vines that acted as rope.
As soon as her eyes met his, she dropped everything, body staggering as she made her way towards him, he met her halfway, holding up her body as she fell into his arms. All she wanted to do was close her eyes and sleep but she knew she couldn’t in case she had a concussion.
“Shit, What the hell happened?” He demanded, gently bringing her to the steps of the chapel to sit her down, his eyes scanned her body to determine where all her injuries were at. His hands went to her face, moving her hair away from her face to examine the injuries on her, only to feel the clumps of blood on her scalp. He immediately got up, calling out for a medic.
“Don’t- it’s really late they’re all asleep now.” She sighed, hands rubbing her forehead to numb the headache.
“And I don’t give a shit.” He responded, swatting her hand away from her head as she touched her wound that began to open up again. Druig’s eyes began to glow a similar shade of golden, within a couple seconds the village medic came rushing out of his home, still in his pyjamas as he carried his things with him, his eyes were parallel to Druig’s glowing eyes. All she wanted to do was chastise him for using his powers but she felt herself becoming weaker, held up by Druig’s arm as the medic put all his attention on her injuries.
“What the hell happened to you?” He questioned, voice soft as he watched the medic stitch her wounds, her eyes began fluttering shut, struggling to keep herself conscious as the effects of the fight began to become more prominent. She hummed in response as she fought to keep her eyes open, feeling Druig’s fingers gently trace over the stitched wounds from when the deviant dug its claws into her.
“So?” He asked impatiently, wanting nothing more than to kill whatever did this to her.
“It’s complicated, Druig.” She managed to breathe out, visibly wincing as the medic dabbed one of her wounds with disinfectant. Druig scoffed in return.
“Complicated?” He echoed in disbelief.
“The deviants are back.” She finally confessed, attempting to wrap her head around what she couldn’t believe truly happened. She remembered when the Eternals had finally killed them all, they celebrated with one another before going their separate ways due to Thena’s sickness.
“What? Don’t be ridiculous, we killed them all... Right?” He questioned in disbelief.
“Exactly why I said it’s complicated.” She responded sarcastically, thanking the medic who completed his task, eyes now back to their original colour as he stared around in confusion wondering how he got there before Druig told him to get back home. He went back to his home without hesitation, wanting nothing more than to not be with the telepath and his counterpart in the middle of the night.
She pointed to where her luggage was laid, next to which was the corpse of the creature, Druig stood up immediately and made his way to the corpse, surprised that he didn’t notice the large creature beforehand. The head of the corpse was unattached to its body, a hole was seen in the middle of it’s torso, as he looked closer he could see that the deviant was in the process of healing itself before getting decapitated.
“It managed to heal itself.” She answered his unspoken question. He looked back at her and back at the deviant once again, unable to process this information.
“But that’s not possible.” He said in disbelief.
“If you think that’s shocking, wait till you find out that it didn’t even attempt to attack the human with me.” She began to stand up to make her way towards him.
“Are they safe?” He asked concerned and she scoffed in response, wondering if he remembered who he was talking to.
“D’you reckon this is the last time we’ll see another one of these?” He asked rhetorically, knowing something bigger was about to occur.
“Deviants with healing abilities that only want to hurt Eternals? We can only hope that was the only one.” She shrugged, Druig brought his arm around her to hold her up although not necessary.
“Guess it’s time for a family reunion, don’t you agree? My sweet blossom.”

One Mind-Eleven
Tumblr media
Pairings: Druig x Eternal!Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, swears, and maybe some smut here and there.
Summary: For so long, the Eternals were on their own. That was until a Celestial event brought them all back together. Reader is reluctant to help because in order to do what her fellow Eternals are saying, she would have to connect with a century old love; one that she promised herself that she would never work with again.
A/N: If it all pans out the way I have it in my mind, there are only a few chapters left! Anyone want another Druig fic? Cause I'm down for another. NEXT CHAPTER WILL HAVE SMUT! So, you've been warned.

Eyelids fluttered open, adjusting to the light that surrounded me, and I let out a low groan of pain as I rolled from my back to my knees.
How did I survive?
Am I dead?
“What the hell happened?” I grumbled.
A pair of red boots stood in front of me and as I turned my gaze up, I smiled weakly towards the speedster.
“Thanks,” I signed.
She waved me off. “Don’t mention it. Now we're even.”
I smirked, remembering how a few hours ago I saved her life by jumping in front of Ikari’s blast.
“Is it over?” I signed.
Makkari sighed before motioning over the cliff where she had brought me after my fall. A gasp fell from my lips when I saw Thena and Phastos fighting the human-like Deviant.
“Where’s Sersi?”
After she helped me to my feet, Makkari nodded towards the other end of the cliff that we were on.
Except we weren’t on a cliff or a mountain. We were on top of the volcano.
“You go help the others. I’ll help Sersi.”
She sped off and I slowly tried to close the distance between us before I felt a sharp pain on my side; a sharp blade digging deep into the old wounds that had yet to heal.
My hands shook as I reached for the blade, only to be knocked down by Sprite who had a sorrowful look on her face.
“Did you?” I tried to catch my breath. “Did you just stab me?”
“I’m sorry,” she stuttered. “I have to do what I can to stop you guys.”
I cocked my head to the side. “You do realize that I’m not the one stopping TIamut, right?”
The warm red liquid started to stain my hand as I applied pressure and the harder, I pressed, the harder I bit my lip to keep a scream at bay.
“I always envied the two of you,” Sprite admitted.
“Why?”
She scoffed. “You and Sersi found someone to love for the rest of your lives. I never had that choice and never will because I look like a fucking child!”
“This doesn’t have anything to do with you being in love with Ikaris, does it?” I sneered.
Sprite’s mouth fell open, perplexed, so I merely shrugged.
“Everyone knows.”
She was on top of me now, removing the knife from my side and pressing the blade deep into my neck. I howled out in pain while doing my best to fight against her.
“I never liked you,” she spat.
“The feeling’s mutual.”
Before she could do anything with the blade, her body crumpled off of me and I locked eyes with my savior who held a brick in his left hand.
“Druig?”
He smirked while extending his hand towards me, helping me to my feet.
“Did you miss me, love?”
“I thought you died,” I admitted.
Druig shook his head. “Can’t get rid of me that easily.”
Forgetting everything that was happening around us, I crashed my lips onto his and it felt as if was taking me for a ride that I hadn’t been on in so long. Most of our past kisses had been rough, possessive almost, as if we were afraid of losing one another at any moment while fighting the deviants.
But now, it was slow and passionate, as if Druig wanted to savor how my lips tasted, trying to bring the memory back to the forefront of his mind. He wanted to remember it all as if we had all the time in the world.
Unfortunately, we didn’t.
My hands ran through his hair to deepen the kiss, tongue passing over his and exploring every inch of his mouth while his hands did the same only to my body.
I slowly pulled away, needing to take a breath, but Druig quickly pulled me back in, attacking my lips once again. His teeth bit on my bottom lip and hissed out in a mixture of arousal and pain but he took it as an opportunity for his tongue to taste every inch of my mouth again.
He grasped at my hips to bring me closer but when he felt something warm and wet, he leaned away from the kiss; instinctively I leaned forward to bring him back to me.
“Is that blood?” Druig looked at the blood staining his hand. “Please tell me that’s not blood.”
I sheepishly shrugged. “It wasn’t me this time. You can blame little ol’ Sprite.”
He sighed while looking at Sprite, who was still unconscious a few feet away from us.
“Ya know, I’m going to start charging you when I have to keep stitching you up,” Druig asserted.
I bit my lip. “Do you take payment in kisses?”
We shared yet another kiss, this one shorter and faster than the last two, and I whimpered when he pulled away.
We basked in the happiness we felt for the first time in so long and I cupped his cheek, getting a closer look at the small wound on his face. I placed a loving kiss right underneath it.
“You could use a bath,” I muttered while brushing away the dirt from his face.
“Only if you wash me, sweetheart.” He cheekily smiled with a wiggle of his eyebrows.
My eyes drifted past Druig’s and landed on a large face protruding from the sea and hands crawling out of the ground; the ground I hadn’t even realized was now gold, us standing on the body of Tiamut.
“Oh no,” I muttered.
Druig wrapped an arm around my shoulder. “There’s nothing we can do now. It’s up to Sersi.”
“Come on, Sersi.”
All of a sudden, we were standing on a thick layer of ice as the cold crept its way up my ankles and over my body. Druig and I watched in awe as Sersi froze Tiamut, keeping him locked in an eternal cryo sleep.
An object flying in the sky gained our attention and we watched the familiar blue suit fly closer and closer to the sun.
Ikaris.
“Is it over?” I questioned, looking back at Druig.
“Come on, let’s go check on the others.”
With linked fingers, he led me down the frozen celestial and towards the remaining members of our once large family.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | One Shot: Dear Diary
Tumblr media
Everything Thena told you about Centauri-6 and the destruction of that world had been true. Sersi told everyone about what Arishem had told her and the silence of the group was almost too deafening.
The Eternals and the Deviants were made by one Celestial, Arishem.
The Deviants were brought to Earth to clear away the predators but along the way, they had become predators themselves.
The Eternals were sent to Earth to keep the Deviants from consuming the intelligent life that is humanity.
Over the years, the population had grown until it was deemed enough to start the Emergence of a new Celestial, Tiamut.
And in consequence of the event, the Earth will destruct and humanity will die.
Centauri-6 had been one of those planets. It had birthed a new Celestial. Every after mission, Arishem had cleared them of their memories to prepare them for a new world. Unfortunately—or was it fortunately?—Thena’s memories were not wiped properly and she remembered how she and the others had died so a new Celestial could be born.
From Sersi’s story, it wasn’t that they ended in death. They were put out of order. Because they were more automatons than anything; loyal soldiers for Arishem to use to further his agenda and the birth of his race. Their home planet of Olympia did not exist. Their memories were taken out of their minds after every mission for the Celestial to study. They were manufactured for one purpose only: they were merely vessels and nothing more.
You looked over at Ikaris, finding him with a stern look on his face. You reached out to him to touch his hand but he moved it away. You tried again and he only stood, putting as much distance as he can from you. You didn’t try to put a name to the feeling of how you heart broke but you knew what it was.
“How did you know, Y/N?” Gil asked you and you looked back at him. He looked grave now, more like a warrior thinking of a battle strategy. “How did you know to ask her about Centauri-6?”
You sat straight in your seat, tampering down the heartache. “There was pain and regret in her voice when she told us about it when I first met her. Confusion wouldn’t make you feel those emotions. She was remembering.”
The mood was still somber. Even your powers couldn’t alleviate everyone’s spirits because you had been surprised and hurt by the revelation as well.
“I’m sorry, Thena,” Gil said. “You had been warning us but we weren’t listening.” Thena only nodded at him.
“There must have been something wrong when Arishem tried to reset your memories.” Sprite said.
“What do you mean?” Kingo asked.
“Isn’t that what Mahd Wy’ry is? All this time, Thena was remembering all the other planets that we were sent to and everyone dying during the Emergence.” Sprite told everyone.
You sighed and looked at Ikaris. He stood by the door and was staring out at the open. You got up and made your way to him, touching his arm lightly. He started.
“It’s just me,” you told him and stood before him. “Tell me what’s on your mind, Ikaris.”
When he didn’t respond, you palmed his face and tilted his head down so you can better see him. “I’m your angel. I don’t just kick ass and take names. I’m told I’m a pretty good listener too.”
You watched his face. In a few short minutes, he had changed so much. Gone was the man who almost kissed you. In front of you now was the old Ikaris, rigid and robotic. It broke your heart to learn that he was actually more a robot than a man. He had been close to giving in to his emotions and that was enough reason for you to know that there was still hope for him. All of the Eternals in this house were one and the same and yet they had evolved to develop emotions. Ikaris should be given the chance to do the same.
He only looked at you before he brought a hand to your wrist and pulled your hand away. “You wouldn’t understand.”
You scoffed. “How ironic, don’t you think, for you to tell me that. I’m not an Eternal but I know how it feels to be lost and afraid.” You move to catch his eyes again. “I know you are. I’ve seen that look in your eyes. It’s in everyone’s here tonight. I’ve seen it on my face before too.”
“I’m not lost or afraid.” He told you. He stepped away from the jamb and back to the room.
“Then tell me still.” You insisted.
“We have to stop the Emergence,” Sersi said and you both turned to her.
“Sersi,” Kingo said with a sad sigh. “We have no right to stop the Emergence or the birth of a Celestial.”
“Maybe not stop,” she looked at the people around her. “Maybe we can delay it until we figure out how it can come of out the Earth without destroying it.”
“Can’t Druig control it’s mind? Maybe put it to sleep?” Gil said.
“Put it to sleep?” Sprite asked skeptically and with a hint of sarcasm. “Are you serious?”
“Gilgamesh asked Druig to put me to sleep once,” Thena remarked.
“So I can take a vacation to Fiji,” Gil told them with a smile in his voice. You smiled along.
“We’re talking about a Celestial!” Kingo exclaimed.
“We gonna have to try!” Sersi asked around, tone incredulous. “We’re not going to let everyone on Earth die, right?”
You looked at Ikaris again. “Remember what we talked about?” You took one of his hands in yours, letting your calm flow through him. “About your heart and feelings?”
You felt the callouses in his hand, rough against yours and remembered that each of them held a story of his life. He had always used his fists more than his heart. It was time he rested this and use the other.
He looked at you, his eyes hard. “Now’s not the time for sentiment, Y/N.”
“The world is ending, Ikaris. If we can’t stop them—”
“We? You’re not a part of this.” He told you harshly. “You don’t belong with us. You don’t belong anywhere.”
You pulled back from him, recoiling at his words. Your skin dimmed as your power died down. Cold crept up from behind you and you hugged yourself, stepping away from him.
He was right, you thought to yourself as you looked at the face of the man you had sworn to keep safe. I don’t belong with them or anywhere.
You swallowed and took a shuddering deep breath, standing tall despite feeling so, so small. “Well, sucks to be you because I choose to stay and fight.” You were proud of yourself for keeping it together despite breaking on the inside.
You walked back to the group and sat beside Gil, keeping yourself close to him. Gil put an arm across your shoulder and squeezed. You smiled at him gratefully. You were still cold from Ikaris’s rejection but you were somehow thawing with the warmth of the reception of your newfound family.
“We need to go, now.” Ikaris said from his spot by the door. “We’ll find the others. Once we’re together, we’ll decide what to do with the Emergence.”
The trip from Australia to Amazon was long. Your silence on the way made it longer. You didn’t even try to lift everyone’s spirits. They didn’t question you; they knew you weren’t one of them and you processed the information differently and deeply. You kept mostly to yourself; everyone else except for Ikaris attempted to talk to you and get you to eat but you always said no. You knew it didn’t escape from them that Ikaris was avoiding you too.
You were weary when you landed in the Amazon rainforest. It was the closest thing to the fabled Garden of Eden that you’ve ever seen but that didn’t assuage the pain of Ikaris’s words. You thought you had moved on from that kind of pain but you were wrong. You were so wrong.
Druig lived in a small village with people who were the most serene bunch you’ve ever seen. You knew they were mind-controlled because normal people would always find fault for something and fight. These people here were too peaceful that it was almost eerie. Living in the forest added to that creepy atmosphere.
You saw Sprite approach one of the villagers and spoke in their language, asking for Druig and telling them that they were friends from university. The voice that came out of the man was an entirely different language and accent.
“Hello, Sprite,” he said and you saw the way his eyes turned milky before going a solid white.
The doors to the biggest structure opened and out came Druig, looking smug and none too pleased at everyone. He only smirked at your group.
“I missed all of you,” he said wryly as he crossed his hands behind his back. “Please, make yourselves at home.”
One by one, you entered his barn, noting the lack of furniture. It looked almost like a church of sorts, wooden benches the only furnishing. It was lit with bright fluorescents and it looked too sterile and out of place for something to be in the middle of a rainforest.
Everyone took their own seats and you sat near the aisle and away from Druig. You weren’t scared of him. You knew how powerful he was with his power of controlling and reading minds. That didn’t deter you, though. You understood his cause. After all, he was demigod who held love for humanity and could only do so much.
Sersi began telling him of what she had been told by Arishem. You kept your power low, just enough for the others to feel calm whilst still having enough grasp of their emotions. You didn’t want Druig to think you were taking from him his hold over everyone.
“You gave me a lot of bad news in one go, milady,” Druig said as he looked at Sersi.
“Can you help us?” Sersi asked hopefully. Druig was about to answer when her phone began going off.
The mind-controller ignored her, walked around the place and regarded all of you. “Do you all remember this forest? Beautiful. It was the last place we all lived together. I’ve protected this people for twenty generations now, from the outside world and from themselves.”
He walked over to Karun and looked at him intently. “Your kind, my friend, you will be responsible for your own extinction one day. What do you think?”
Karun put down his camera, looking at Druig with all the respect he could muster. “I think we must all learn from our mistakes and do better, sir. You must not give up hope—”
You felt Druig’s power as you looked at Karun’s eyes turn white from being mind-controlled. He threw away the camera he was holding.
“Oh, no, you didn’t.” Kingo said as he stood toe to toe with Druig. “Okay, new rule. No more possessing people’s valets.”
“Where’s your sense of humor, Kingo?” Druig mocked.
“You’re not a god. You know that, right?” Kingo challenged.
“How ironic,” Druig drawled sarcastically. “Kingo, the movie star.”
Kingo raised a brow. “I’ve directed some movies, too.”
Druig only looked at Kingo before turning to you. “What do you have on your back?” he told you by way of greeting.
You stood to your full height, just a tad smaller than him and looked him in the eye. “Why don’t you feel them and see?”
You unfurled your wings, left wing gently reaching forward to touch his hand.
“An angel,” he said in his flat voice as he felt the lightness of your feather but you heard the awe in them. “Why are you with them?”
“I choose to stay and fight.” You told him.
“No. That’s not it.” He learned forward to you, locking eyes with yours. “Why are you here, sweet angel?”
And then you felt it. Dull probes in your mind as all the seven thousand years of your life came flashing before your eyes. It poked at the recesses of your brain, bringing out memories from your subconscious you spent centuries to bury.
You opened your eyes, looking at the wide blue before you. You didn’t know where you were or what you were but you knew you had to move because something was coming your way.
You sat up and pushed yourself against a tree. Your back didn’t immediately meet its bark because you were granted extra limbs. White, powerful, mighty wings jutted from your back. You knew what they were for even if it had been your first time seeing them.
You peeked from the tree, watching a being from afar. They didn’t look big enough to cause the rumbling that had you scurry for the tree but there were many of them. And they appeared to wearing leathers of a sort. You looked down on yourself and found that you were naked and knew you had to get some leathers so you can fully integrate with them. They didn’t have wings like yours, though, so you had to be careful.
You slowly made your way to their camp, grabbing the first piece of clothing you see and donning them behind a copse of trees. Your wings were intuitive as they did not interfere with the leathers you wore. They were both corporeal and incorporeal, however that worked.
There was a rumbling again and your reactions were instinctive because when the creature came at you, you held out a hand and out came a burst of your power. It shielded you from the monster and you drew your hand back to kick its face. It did not do much but you didn’t have to react twice because there was another flying being that shot beams of light at it. You took that opening to hide behind the copse of trees, watching as this man in a blue suit kill it.
Yes, the voice in your head said. It is him you will save.
Him. You looked at the man again, watching how he fought against it bravely. You have to save him.
Another memory was pulled from you. It was angrier this time.
The sound of the whip was nothing to the white-hot searing pain you felt across your back. You screamed as the crowd cheered, joyed at watching you in pain. Your hands grabbed on to the manacles that were slapped on your wrist and you hugged the wooden pillar as another blow landed on your back.
“You have no right to talk to the leaders! You are of no consequence!” cried the man who whipped your back.
Hot tears fell from your eyes as you were scourged before the public. Your only offense was standing up for the child who had been mistreated. You weren’t its mother or its family. You put yourself between the innocent child and the man, even going so far as instigating a fight so the child would not have the attention on it as you told it to be free. Instead, they had captured you and slapped the chains on your wrists, punishing you by whipping your back until you were sure your wings were fractured and your back bloodied and open.
“Know your place! You have no right to interfere!” cried the man as he landed more blows on your open back. “You do not belong with us!”
You cried out as you heard bone break.
More probing in your mind brought you to a different century, in a different place.
The air was cold and stagnant. They had stripped you of your clothes. The only food you had were the bowl of spoilt milk and days-old stale bread. You had been lured by a man who had asked for your help but instead had captured you for your wings.
“I would make a fortune off of you!” He said as he had other men undress you and lock you inside an unforgiving cage.
You had been there for weeks now. Dirtied and molested. People grabbed at you if they did not see your wings. Those who did tried plucking your feathers and drew blood when they pulled too hard. Most nights, the same man who took you would take you against your will, forcing himself on you because he was so enticed at the idea of bedding a pure being.
You huddled against the corner, looking at the stars through your only window. You found solace at dusk because no one would dare come out at night. It was the only time you found everything beautiful. The stars shone brightly and the world was quiet. It kept the monsters at bay.
“Y/N,” you heard a faint whisper.
You started, making yourself smaller and backing to the corner. You kept your feet away from the silvery moonlight that bled through the window.
“Y/N, it’s me,” the whisper said. A face pressed against the metal rods of your cage. It was the man’s daughter. You never got her name but she had always been curious of you.
“It’s time for you to leave,” she said.
“I have nowhere else to go,” you told her. There was no more hope in your voice.
“Anywhere is better than here, locked in this cage.” You heard keys jingling. The door to your cage opened. “Hurry before he comes for you.”
You stepped cautiously, watching for any sign of the man who had repeatedly abused you but found none. You only found his daughter and she was covered in dark bruises, from her face to her arms. Your heart called out to her and you took her hands.
“Did he do this to you?” you asked. Your violation, you could take. But his own daughter? The man did not deserve the riches that was coming to him because of you.
“It doesn’t matter,” she said as she wrapped her shawl around your bare shoulders. “You have to flee from this place. What he did to you is wrong. I’m sorry I couldn’t come sooner.”
“What will he do if knew you helped me escape?” You took the ends of the shawl and tied them firmly.
“It doesn’t matter, Y/N,” she repeated as she closed the door. “Go! Now!”
Your head pained as another memory surfaced, this time feeling it more than just in your mind.
You held the head of the man you had just slain, watching as his blood drenched the floor you were standing on. His head in exchange for your freedom. It was a hard sacrifice for an angel like you but one you were willing to make. The man had no conscience, brooked no argument as he went on to abuse you and the others.
You had been residing in a plot of land in the forest, away from the rest of the world when he and his group came and took over your village. All of the women were captured and used and slaved away, the men forced to work hard labor for no compensation. The children… The children were slain because they had no purpose.
The habitants were blinded by their promise of a better life for the village but that was before they held the residents captive and all of their resources siphoned from them. They were heartless beings who took advantage of the generosity and hospitality of the people.
It had taken you days to convince yourself that slaying them was the only option. More of the people had been dying because of starvation and fatigue. The women had been passed from men to men. You had been in their situation before you wouldn’t wish it upon others and that had been enough for you to take a knife.
Your attacks were quiet and deadly with the knife and with your power, you shielded yourself from them. You were a sight to be beheld when you glowed in anger and your brilliant light shining brightly. Your light burned their eyes first and their skin. It was an easy way for them to go. You saved the best for last and that was the leader, letting out your divine brilliancy before you sliced his neck in one smooth motion. It detached quickly from his body and you just stood there, watching as how you had executed the men who raped your home.
You knew your heart should feel heavy but it did not. You only felt triumph because finally, their reign of terror ended. You walked out of the shack they were staying and stood before the people.
You rolled the detached head to the foot of the leader, throwing the knife beside it.
“I killed for all of you,” you said to everyone. “You are now free.”
One by one, they fell to their knees. Some had cried at the sight of you, coming over to kiss your bloodied hands. They never judged you for your actions, only thanked you in their language. It was only then when you realized you were a corrupted angel; a being who had taken lives of men for the sake of yourself and for many. You promised safety and yet you killed.
And in all of your long life, you finally cried.
Your heart lurched as a familiar face appeared in your consciousness.
“Are you from here?” the man asked as he approached you. He had a happy disposition, smiling easily at you but you didn’t smile back. You had been weary of people approaching you, considering how much you had endured in the past thousands of years.
“What is it to you?” you asked, staying away from him.
“I’ve seen you lurking around here and I thought you must be from here. Otherwise, I would have to call the officers.” he said.
“No officers,” you moved away from him.
His hand clamped on your wrist to stop you and you stiffened at the contact. It had been hundreds of years since you were touched by people. It still had the same effect on you, the trauma of the millennia never leaving you at all.
“I was joking.” He let go of your hand. “My name is Jack.”
You looked at him. “What do you want?” you asked flatly, one foot out and ready to flee.
“I want to help you. You don’t look like you’ve eaten anything for a while now.”
And it was true. It was harder to hunt for food with all the modernities of the world. You stayed away from people because they always wanted something from you. You had given them everything you had and they always took. No one gave you anything back.
“I have food at home. It’s better than the scraps you’re getting from the garbage.” He gestured to your hands that were holding your lunch and dinner. Stale bread and the remnants of chicken were the best ones you have had in the past month.
“What do you want from me? Do you want to see my wings? Do you want to pluck a feather or sell me to people?” you stepped closer to the mouth of the alley towards the street.
“I just want to help,” he said. His eyes were still on you throughout the time he spoke to you. “I am not a threat. I only promise you a hot meal and perhaps a bath and some clothes, if you want them.”
“How do I know you’re not a threat to me? You all say the same thing,” you said. Your stomach sounded. You wanted to get out of that alley but he was making it impossible.
“You can alarm the neighbors if I ever do anything untoward. I promise all I want is to help you.” He held out his hand to you. “I will keep the door open so you can flee from me any time you want.”
You regarded the scraps in your hands. You were an angel, an old angel who had done everything for the world even at the expense for your soul. Was it selfish to want something for yourself?
You touched his hand gingerly, putting the food waste back on the garbage. “Promise me you won’t hurt me,” you asked of him.
He took your hand and smiled at you. “I will never hurt you.”
“That’s enough,” Ikaris’s steely voice cut through your memory.
You blinked and looked back at Druig, who now looked at you with compassion and admiration. His thumb wiped a tear that you had not realized had fallen.
“Why do you choose to fight for them if all they did is hurt you?” he whispered and in the silence of the room, it was loud enough for everyone to hear.
There was softness in his voice and understanding in his eyes. He and you were one and the same in your love for humanity despite its ugliness and fault.
“Why do you choose to love the people if all they do is wage wars against each other?” you asked instead. You took a deep breath. “I love them because that is who I am. Despite the circumstances and the pain, I still love them because they deserve to be loved.”
“Even Jack—”
“Don’t speak of his name,” you said in a hard voice. “Don’t probe my head for more memories of him. I respect you, Druig, and I hope it goes both ways.”
He watched you carefully and he nodded. “I respect you as well, Y/N. Perhaps more than these people I call family.” His thumb swiped another tear from your eye. “I will never hurt you. You have my word.”
He was suddenly yanked aside by an angry looking Ikaris, pushing his cousin away from you.
“I said, that’s enough.” Ikaris told him again.
You swallowed and touched Ikaris’s arm, willing more of your powers to him. The touch sent a shiver throughout your body and the memory of your almost kiss resurfaced. You pulled away when you saw the tension leave his shoulder, but not before you saw that he reacted to your touch—not your power—as well.
“Interesting,” Druig said as he looked at his cousin. “Very interesting, Ikaris.”
“You’ve played with her head—”
“Must be heartbreaking to find out you’re not mother’s favorite?” he taunted.
“I’m sure she’d be real proud of you,” Ikaris drawled mockingly.
“Druig, this is serious,” Sersi said as she stood from the front of the barn, facing the men.
You sat back on your bench, quiet and listening to them. Your hands shook from the weight of the memories but you held strong. The others were weak from their knowledge. They needed you to keep them together.
“I’ll tell you what’s serious,” Druig walked over to Sersi and stood toe to toe with her. “I was told I’ve been sent on a suicide mission for the past seven thousand years, that my entire existence is a lie. So, excuse me for not giving a shit about your plan right now.”
He walked to the door but he stopped beside you. “Walk with me, Y/N.”
“She stays.” Ikaris said. His tone was uncompromising, like the leader he was.
You stood and looked at Ikaris, willing your face to be impassive. “I’m not going away from you. I promised to help you fight the Emergence, didn’t I? Even if I don’t belong with you?”
Druig inclined his head towards the door and with one last look at Ikaris, you turned to go.

In the Eyes of Men
Druig x Plus Size!Fem!Reader | Fluff
Summary: You didn't care what men thought of you, you were an eternal. You never valued their opinion...except Druig's.
WC: 953
A/N: Thank you for requesting @sebastianstanisararebreed <3 I hope you like this! I really wanted a story to reflect us as confident people, I don't see ourselves represented a lot like that in fanfics.
Warnings: Slight negative self-thoughts
REQUESTS ARE OPEN
Tumblr media
From the moment you stepped off the Domo, you never felt inferior to your fellow Eternals. Sure, you didn't run as fast and your thighs rubbed until they burned sometimes, but you were just as strong and capable. Insecurities were a human concept you didn't want to partake in.
You were bringing body positivity all the way to Babylon. The men didn't fawn over you like they did Thena and Sersi. And you were fine with that, they did nothing for you. You loved who you were and the way you look like, you were beautiful.
"Dear shouldn't you eat an apple instead?" one of the older women asked you during one of the massive parties. You took the small block of cheese and placed it in your mouth "No," you said simply, your eyes locking with hers, you didn't miss a beat. Gathering your shiny purple dress you walked away leaving her in shock.
You were fine until you caught sight of Druig, the brooding eternal who was surrounded by women much thinner than you by the fire. He was smiling and leaning in to flirt with them. Their hands were desperate to touch them, but when they got too close their eyes would glow with gold and they would remove their hands from his body. Your confident gaze faltered for a moment as you watched him, if only you were the one he was flirting with. You loved him, plain as day.
"What's your issue?" Sprite questions with annoyance, appearing at your side. Her eyes turn to Druig and it made sense "Oh...him. Don't you ever wish for a guy to see you like Druig see's them?"
You scowl and look down at her, your shadow engulfing the bold little girl "I don't see myself with the eyes of a man," you told her coldly, roughly bumping her shoulder and you walked away.
It was the only time you cursed Arishem for making you this way, you couldn't change it. Maybe you weren't destined to find someone like Thena found Gilgamesh and Ikaris found Sersi. You wanted to be ok with it, but your thoughts always brought you back to the dark-haired boy with a sly smile.
Plucking a deep red apple from one of the countless tables, you sat in the quietest corner you could find on top of a stack of hay. There was a shiny platter propped up by the pillar in front of you. Your e/c eyes flickered up at it 'what does he think of me?' you think sadly, 'you take up more space in the mirror.'
"Be careful, your face might freeze that way," Druig joked, bringing you out of your thoughts. Leaning back on the cold wall you smile up at him, masking your feelings for him.
"So they let you out of their grasps?" You ask him, watching as he sat next to you. His hand reaches for you and takes the apple out of your palm, taking a huge bite.
"Not like I wanted to be there, " he grumbled through his chewing.
Your eyes squint "You didn't? Any man would."
He chuckles and leans back next to you, shoulders brushing. You could smell the masculine fragrance Ikaris insisted he put on, it suited him. "I'm not any man, you know that," he reminded you, gently nudging the shoulder he was leaning up against.
"Well don't you think all men would want to surround themselves with beautiful women like that?" You gather your dress and stand up, facing away from him to look at the dark horizon.
Druig rubs his head facial expression contorted with confusion "Y/N, since when did you care about what men want?" You shake your head and wrap your arms around yourself, since when were they so squishy? Had they always been like that? You immediately took off and drop them to your sides.
"I don't-" you falter, "I don't care about what they want, you know that."
He stands, feeling this, you take a few steps forward to distance yourself "Then... what do you want?"
You take in a deep breath, dust and smoke mixed in with fresh air enter your lungs "What do you think of me, Druig?"
He blinks, taken aback by your question "Why do want the opinion of a man?"
You sigh and bite the inside of your cheek "Not just of any man.. I just want yours." Maybe if he told you he wasn't attracted to you or he didn't see you the way Ikaris saw Sersi it would set your mind back on track. If he told you he wanted a thin woman who could keep up with him. You didn't need his opinion, but you craved it.
"My beautiful, beautiful Y/N," he starts softly, taking silent steps closer to you "I have never met a woman as beautiful as you, you are perfect by design." His hand touches your arm, you tried to fight off the feeling of self-consciousness. You had always imagined him touching you, in your head, it made your skin crawl to have a perfect man touch your imperfections. He let his hand trail down farther until his hand was in yours, intertwining your fingers with his.
Turning you around to face him, he stands over you, ocean blue eyes bearing into yours "I'm not lying...I can read your thoughts."
"I hate when you do that," you let out a whispered laugh. He leans forward, letting his forehead touch yours, his ears are so close he could probably hear your heartbeat thump against your chest.
"If you haven't guessed, my darling," he whispers, letting his nose brush against yours, raising your lips to meet his own, "I love you, for who you are and what you look like."

Years had passed. The Eternals had all gone they're separate ways. Other than you, you had done a full circle. For example You stayed with Ajak and Sprite in South Dakota, Gilgamesh and Thena in Australia, Even Makkari on the Domu, and currently you resided with Kingo in india.
“Have you gone to see Druig?” You heard Kingo question you “No, Why?” You asked with a puzzled expression. “I don't know, You should just go see him” Kingo replied.
“Is this your way of kicking me out?” You asked sarcastically “no it's just you guys used to be so close and you’ve been moping around for the last few thousand years' ' he rushed to explain himself.
“Fine, i'll go” You replied standing up from the spot you had been sitting in on Kingos couch. As you made your way to the door you yelled “see ya later, Kingo '' You voice rang through his house.
Later you found yourself outside of the Amazon, This is where he should be. “Well, here gose nothing”  you muttered to yourself as you walked through the woods. A little while later you found yourself by a creek.
By that creek you saw an injured girl, and the person you had longed to see all this time. Although you felt sympathy for the girl, something else boiled in you, Anger. No that couldn't be right, displeasure maybe a little, anxious no, jealousy? Could it be? No.
You watched Druig tend to the wound on the girls leg, not even realising you were there. Until a Deviant attacked. Without thinking you rushed up and started attacking it. If he didnt notice you  before he sure did now.
This Deviant was not like the others you had fought, this one had been healing itself. To kill it you would need to use your full power, it just came with a cost. As you tapped into it Druig realised what you were doing as your fingers darkened with the amount of power you had been using.
The Deviant had started to die. As you had let out a shriek as you finished it off, then falling to the ground. Your vision began to fade and you heard Druig rush over to you.
It had only felt like a few seconds till you were woken up by the sound of a machine. “What the fuck?” You muttered to yourself while standing up to the sound of people arguing outside the door.
“What were you thinking?” a familiar voice said, “I was trying to help her.” You hear Druig’s attempt to defend himself in his voice.
The two continued. When you opened the door you saw all the eternals standing there except for Ajak.
“Well Good Morning, I see you visited Druig finally” Kingo said sarcastically as Makkari pulled you into a hug. As you pulled her in, you flipped Kingo off as a response he gave a face of fake offence. “You guys are weird” Druig commented.
“Sure Cult-boy” Kingo remarked. “Cult-Boy?” Druig repeated irritated as your lips curled into a smile at the joke. “I'll have you know that my so called cult is the reason Y/N here is Alive” he snarled in response.
“Anyways,” Sersi concluded their petty fight, “Ajak is dead and we need to stop a celestial being born” . Sprite cut her off.
“Okay then” You replied, slightly shocked. “So how are we going to do it?” you asked the group. “We haven't gotten that far in the plan yet” Sprite spoke up. In response you let out a nodd, and then you heard screaming from outside. “Again?” You muttered while getting up as everyone rushed out of the room.
When you got outside you could see druig controlling the people of the small cult-like village “Let them go!” You called to Druig, with a sigh he let them go “get to the river!” He commanded as the humans ran.
“Y/N!” ikaris caught your attention “A Little help” he questioned sarcastically sending the deviant towards you. The deviant was flying towards you. Its tail hit you. You fell into the fountain. Ikaris what the fuck.
You began to fight the deviant. The gold magic you had been using turned red. That was odd. Regardless you kept fighting. Suddenly it turned to gold. What? The deviant turned to gold. Your powers were red.
You pulled yourself out of the fountain. That was the last one. Everyone was out of breath and you looked down to your hands. As if starting at them like they would be any different. They were the exact same collection of rings that were assorted in medal and age. But something fell off.
Druig rushed over to you as he watched you look at your hands panicked. “Are you alright?” He asked, panicking, “Somthings wrong?” You said frantically While looking up “What's wrong?” he questioned “Well to start THAT DEVIANT JUST TURNED TO GOLD” You yelled pointing to the deviant “AND MY MAGIC TURNED RED'' You yelled taking in a breath “I COULDN'T DO THAT BEFORE!” You yelled again.
“Hey” Druig said softly trying to calm you down “Hey” He called again “HEY!” He yelled gaining your attention this time “Lets go to the domo and we can try and fix this” He reasoned as i calmed down.
—- time skip —--
I had been sitting on a chair in the domo when Druig approached me, “haven't done this in a while” He said as I set my book down. I chuckled “Got any new music recommendations, the last guy you recommended died” He said “Actually i do” you smiled shutting the book “I Highly recommend Taylor swift, and for you i definitely recommend Her album Folklore” You smiled.
“Got any new weird dreams to tell me about?” You asked, “Actually I have a few.” He laughed. The two of you talked for a while. And you got curious if he were single, cause in all honesty if he had a girlfriend you'd be jealous of her, but if he were single that's honestly;y hurts.
You had found out he was single, apparently his last girlfriend and him broke up due to conflict of interest. “She never understood me like you do,” he joked. “I mean i would make a better girlfriend then her” You joked well half joked.
“Definitely,” He agreed while eating a piece of bread. “You know, I never understood why we stopped talking.” Drug said honestly. “You had your cult and I wanted to travel,” I replied. Causing him to sigh “I wish we didn't stop talking” He replied looking down “I've missed you” he looked up “I missed you too” You told him. Oh if he could see that you're the one who understands him, you've been here all along so why can he see, he belongs with you and you belong with him.
A few minutes later druig started “Y/N, I'm going to do something, and if you hate me for it i will probably hate myself for the rest of my-our existence” Druig rambled, “what are you going to do kiss me?” I joked. I got no reply as druig leaned forward cupping my face with his hand and leaning in more and then it happened, our lips connected. It felt like we were the only two people in the world. It felt like the world was not just about to end.
Then we pulled apart “So?” He said questioningly “Do you hate me?” He asked sheepishly, “I could never’ i smiled “I just thought it would have been sooned” I added earning a chuckle.
Our attention was then caught by Kingo walking in and clapping “Finally, Geez it only took about 7000 years” to which i laughed and druig looked away as his face turned  a vibrant shade of red.

Part 1 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Epilogue
Tumblr media
“And you think this is a good idea?” Doctor Strange was slowly pacing in his office. The Sanctum Sanctorum felt like a second home to you. However, sitting in Doctor Strange’s office while he sternly mulled over the offer the Eternals gave you… well, suddenly you felt like you were in school with your least favorite teacher.
“What do we have to lose?” You challenged. “I mean, I was spying on the Eternals anyway. Now I can keep tabs on what they’re doing and, if I act as their spy, than-”
“If you spy on a God,” Doctor Strange cut in, “than sure, the Eternals will share their knowledge with you. So in exchange for a few parlor tricks, you’re going to risk your mortal life and limb for people you just met.”
You were stunned into silence for a moment. After Druig and Kingo led you away from the cafe in Italy, you found yourself on the Domo. You were fascinated. And while you enjoyed walking through the labyrinthian hallways of the Eternals’ ship, Druig insisted that there wasn’t time to explore. Instead, he and Kingo lead you to the heart of the ship where you met Thena, Makkari, Phastos, and Sersi. With kind smiles and greetings from all of the Eternals, they explained that Kingo wasn’t lying when he said that they needed a spy.
From another world, a stray Eternal arrived on Earth. He did not travel with the original ten Eternals assigned to this planet. Instead, the stray Eternal arrived on Earth a couple of centuries ago and began to build an empire for himself. Now he is the leader of a deadly group of assassins for hire only available to the richest people in the world.
“We think,” Kingo said. In truth, the Eternals weren’t sure if Modredus was also an Eternal. There were so many signs that pointed toward yes, but they lacked the evidence to do anything about it.
“If he is just a bad guy, we should report him to human authorities and hope for the best,” Sersi explained, “if he is an Eternal then we need to interfere. We’ll bring him to the Domo and we’ll find out what he’s doing here.”
“He’s interfering too much with humanity’s path,” Thena explained, “and he’s allowing people to die who do not deserve it.”
Now, sitting in Doctor Strange's office, you wished the Eternals were here to explain it themselves. You looked up at Doctor Strange, taking a breath before you answered him, “His name is Modredus and I am a very good and very careful spy. You made sure of that. He’s not a god, either. Besides, all of the Asgardians are on our side, anyway.”
“Why do you want to do this?” Doctor Strange stopped pacing and looked at you. You hadn't realize it before he said it, but yes, you wanted to do this. Even if the reward could be construed as otherworldly party tricks, you liked the idea of being needed.
“He’s worried about her,” Sersi whispered. Back on the Domo, all of the Eternals were sitting around the center room of the ship. They had been eavesdropping on the conversation you were having with Doctor Strange. You were smart, Druig admitted. As you argued with your mentor Druig smiled every time you made Doctor Strange groan in frustration. Druig could tell that the doctor knew he was losing the argument.
Since then, you had talked Doctor Strange into letting you go on this mission with the Eternals. It took a lot of arguing, but you finally arrived to an agreement: you could go if you left as soon as you were in any serious danger. No questions. No arguments. Just get up and leave.
Druig knew that the Doctor didn’t want you to tell the Eternals about this part of your agreement with your master.
Thankfully, Phastos was able to slip a little listening device into your pocket while you were on the Eternals’ ship earlier. It looked like a translucent credit card and felt lighter than paper - it was an impressive device. Druig had watched Phastos slip the thing into your pocket while you were on the Domo.
Clever witch, Druig thought, not clever enough to realize she’s been bugged.
He stood in the back of the room, leaning against a wall as he listened to the others discuss the events of the day. Sersi was right, Doctor Strange was worried about you.
“How long have they been working together?” Thena asked. All eyes turned to Druig. He had been in charge of learning who you were and what kind of secrets you had. It wasn’t easy though. Maybe it was Doctor Strange’s doing or maybe it was your own, but Druig found almost no information about you.
“Long enough for him to care about her well being,” Druig said, “I’d guess several years.” Druig knew you were smart and that you were a good spy, but he had his doubts about you. After all, what kind of spy didn’t realize she was bugged?
As all of the Eternals listened to your discussion with Doctor Strange, Druig wondered if you realized how much the Doctor cared for you. If one thing was clear from this conversation, the doctor was incredibly worried about your well being. It was a justified worried, Druig knew. You were a witch and you were a good spy, but you were going to have to outwit a rogue Eternal.
[Y/n will be here soon,] Mekkari signed, [is there anything we need to discuss before she arrives?]
“Too late,” Druig said as a mild alarm system began to chime throughout the Domo. He had sensed you and your master approaching during the last few minutes. Thanks to his powers, people rarely snuck up on Druig. Even so, he had trouble sensing exactly where you and your master were. He could tell you were close, yes, but he couldn’t pinpoint your exact location. Your mental wards were strong- stronger than your Master’s, Druig noted. How interesting.
“I'll let her in,” Phastos huffed.
“Her master is with her, too,” Druig said as Phastos left. Druig watched as Phastos let out another sigh and continued on his way. If any of the Eternals were going to play the part of humble host, Phastos was going to be the best choice. In reality, Druig knew that it once would have been Ajax. The kind woman knew how to sooth almost any person while remaining firm in her beliefs. Sure, Druig didn’t always agree with Ajax, but she was one of the warmest members of the Eternal family. She would have liked you.
Druig suspected that there was something about the easy but challenging smiles that you had which would have made Ajax like you. The way you didn’t back down from a challenge would have made Ajax respect you.
She also would have been the perfect person to appease your overprotective guardian, Druig thought. If only Ajax were here.
Druig pushed all thoughts of Ajax out of his head and turned back to the others in the room. Thena, Sersi and Kingo continued to talk about you and Modredus. Mekkari, though, was looking at Druig with a furrowed brow.
[I’m fine,] Druig signed to her. Mekkari raised a suspicious eyebrow but did not sign anything back. Druig knew that his history with Mekkari meant that she could read him like an open book. He was thankful for her friendship, even after the fun but ultimately short relationship that they had.
“Please tell me exactly what the plan is for sending my protege to spy on an Eternal,” Doctor Strange entered the room with a flurry of motion, as if this was his office. You followed him in with Phastos on your heels.
You entered and stood only a few paces from your master’s side. He smiled as he looked over the outfit you wore now. He guessed you must have been wearing casual civilian clothes while you were spying on the Eternals, because you wore a completely different style of clothing now. It more closely resembled the outfit Doctor Strange wore. Your black robes were nearly identical to his navy ones. You both wore the sling ring but you also wore a small pouch on your hip and a dragon head ring. You did not have a cape or a glowing green necklace, though.
You glanced around the room, nodding at everyone until you saw Druig. With a tightlipped grin, you crossed the space to him. He narrowed his eyes as he watched your hand slip into a pocket he didn’t know you had. With one hand still in your pocket, you used your free hand to reach towards Druig’s. He let out a small laugh, watching as you placed the listening device that Phastos made into his open hand. You closed his fingers over the bug, sandwiching his closed fist between your two hands.
“Nice try,” you whispered. You walked back towards your master, purposefully not looking at Druig again.
You hoped that he didn’t notice the little four leaf clover that your Merlin ring had sprouted when you touched him. The funny piece of jewelry acted as a siphon for your powers but it was also tied to your emotions. It normally sat idle when it came to your average, day to day emotions. The Merlin ring only reacted when you felt something strongly. Normally that was good because being a spy meant keeping your fear, adrenaline, and other feelings in control while you worked. Your Merlin ring rarely had the chance to act out. So why did it decide to produce a four leaf clover? You weren’t feeling anything particularly strongly, were you? You scowled at your ring and plucked the clover off. You tucked the little clover into a pocket.
As you walked away, Druig remained where you left him. With a lopsided grin, he tucked the listening device into his own pocket before he looked back at Mekkari. Her eyes were on already on Druid, a smile on her lips.
[I’m fine,] Druig signed again, a scowl returning to his face.
[If you say so,] Mekkari signed back. She gave Druig a small smile and her eyes slid towards you. As your mentor was questioning the Eternals, you were surveying the space around you. Gently, you ran your hands over the walls of the ship, keeping one ear on the conversation.
Druig felt strange and antsy since you had entered the room. Something about you made him teeter on the tips of his toes. You walked around the ship and Druig could see himself walking next to you, telling you stories about the marks and dents on the walls of the Domo. He wasn't a particularly good story teller, that was Sprite's job. But Druig grinned at the thought of telling you about the time he and Ikaris had camped out for a week in this room, waiting to see who would leave first. That's a story Druig wouldn't leave for Sprite to tell.
He kept his eyes on your for a moment more before looking back to Mekkari. She was smiling and lifted a brow which only resulted in Druig playfully swatting her away. Mekkari knew the plan and knew teasing Druig was only going to be more embarrassing for him. Of course, that’s why she did it. Druig ignored her and looked back to you.
You turned to Druig, then and gave him a small grin, as if you just caught him doing something he wasn’t supposed to be doing. To his surprise, Druig turned away and tried to ignore the gentle warmth in his cheeks.
“She’s going to be undercover, working as a sort of spy for us,” Sersi tried to explain. She spoke to Doctor Strage who was standing with his arms crossed and brows furrowed. Druig listened to Sersi speak slowly, as if searching for the right words. Unfortunately, she wasn’t speaking fast enough for the doctor.
“Yes, I know that,” Doctor Strange practically hissed, “but where is she going? What will she be doing? Will she be alone? What is her ‘cover’ story?”
Druig took that opportunity to take a few steps in your direction, planting himself next to you. Doctor Strange turned to him as Druig playfully bumped your shoulder with his own.
“She’s going to be bait," Druig said, accented voice filling the room, "and my lovely, lovely fiance."
Part 3
A/N: Part two is done and part three will be kind of mushy, mostly fluff. I'm excited. Thank you for reading this! Please let me know what you think of it and if you would like to be tagged. @misselsbells06

For the Thenamesh doctor AU. There is this patient (adult or kid) who has a mental breakdown and nobody can calm him down. So Thena calls Gil and ask him if he can give it a try :)
Maybe you can put a soft moment in the end?
"Gil?"
"Hey Honey," he grins at her, dropping his sandwich and wiping off his hands. He frowns at the look on her face. "What's wrong?"
Thena nods her head for him to come with her, which he does in an instant. "Husband of a patient in surgery. He's utterly beside himself and no one can get him to calm down."
"No one?"
"Not even Ajak," Thena pauses and looks up at him before they cross into the waiting room, "not even Sersi."
This is bad. Gil looks through the window of the swinging door and back to her. "And you think I can help?"
Thena shrugs one shoulder and looks up at him. He can't be sure, but he swears she's trying to look extra cute. "Well, you're the best at calming patients on the way here."
"That's-" he pauses, looking down as she rubs the zipper of his hoodie between her thumb and finger.
"I always find your company very soothing."
Dammit. She has to know how cute she is--she just has to! Gil sighs, "I'll try."
He pushes through the door and walks over to the man with his whole head in his hands, weeping and gasping for air. Sersi is beside him, speaking softly in that gentle accent of hers. But if not even she - the GP known for being as gentle as a butterfly - can calm him down, Gil really doesn't know what he's supposed to be able to do.
Thena must have told Sersi she was going for him specifically, though, because Sersi catches his eye and nods him over.
"Gil, this is Mister Wells. He's waiting for his wife to get out of an emergency bypass."
"Hi there," Gil begins gently, sitting in the seat Sersi vacates for him as she returns to her work. He leans forward in hopes of getting a look at the poor guy. "I'm a paramedic here at the hospital. Your wife is in surgery?"
The man mumbles something, still holding his head in his hands and now pulling faintly at his hair.
"Listen, I know you've been told a million times that we're doing everything we can, but," Gil pauses. It's true, sure. But that doesn't mean anything to this poor man. This poor bastard who is beside himself, sitting out here, unable to do anything. "But I guess I can't really promise you anything, huh?"
The absolutely haggard man finally pulls his head up and looks at Gil. At the very least, he definitely heard what he said, because he looks nothing short of aghast. "They sent you to comfort me?"
"I know," Gil shrugs, his hands in his hoodie pockets as he moves. "But my...someone asked me to come and talk to you. So I did."
His eyes run over Gil critically, "and what makes you so special?"
"Well, nothing, I guess," Gil purses his lips momentarily. "I'm not even a doctor, so I'm not really obliged to have any bedside manner or anything."
"I'll say."
"But," Gil pauses, his smile fading. "A few weeks ago...I guess I found myself in a situation a little like this. Nothing quite as serious, but...sure did scare me."
The older man finally looks at Gil--really looks at him. He sits up just a little, looking somewhat more like a human and less like a broken shell of a man. "Yeah?"
Gil nods, still haunted by the sight of Thena under that car. "Have nightmares about it and everything."
Mister Wells thinks for a second, sidestepping the question of what actually happened. "How'd you get through it?--the wondering, I mean. How'd you get through the...the what ifs?"
Gil takes a deep breath, thinking about the feeling of Thena's freezing cold hand in his and how she had let just a few tears slip out. "I...I guess I couldn't really get all the way there. I couldn't fully imagine what my life would be like without her."
Tears come to the poor man's eyes as he starts to curl up again. "I-I don't know-! I don't know what I'll do without her!"
Gil just pats the man's shoulder, letting him cry. He's sure that's all he would be capable of if Thena...
He had said those exact words to her; he had told her that nothing would happen to her, because he was there. But he didn't actually have that power to guarantee that. He would have put his very life on the line to do so, but sometimes things just don't work out that way.
It is true: he has had nightmares. Dreams of walking into the hospital and feeling something wasn't right. Looking for someone he can't name and yet whose absence he feels like a hole in his chest. He's had dreams of her dying in his arms, under that car, in the rain, and the cold, and him trying to help her entirely in vain.
"I can't tell you either," Gil offers, rather lamely, if he's being honest. Which he is. "But I can tell you that she'd tell you she loves you."
He looks at Gil again. "What?"
"She would tell you she loves you," Gil can guarantee. "And I'm sure she wouldn't want you out here tearing out the rest of your hair over it."
Wells gives Gil a look, which only encourages him.
"Look, I don't know what I'd do without Thena either," he professes entirely truthfully, hand - out of his pocket - to his heart. "But while she was in her surgery, I thought about all the things I love about her."
Finally - at long fucking last - the guy smiles a little.
Gil smiles too. "I thought about her laugh, about what jokes make her smile and which ones make her slap me on the arm."
Wells almost chuckles at that one.
"I thought about how I would tell her how beautiful she is, and how I can't imagine a single day without her."
The greying man nods, tears in his eyes, a smile on his face. Gil has finally found the right chord to strike.
"I thought about all the time we've had, all my favourite things about her," Gil sits back again, "and then, just like that, she was out. She was right in front of me again."
Wells sniffles a little, blinking away the last of his tears. "Yeah?"
"Yeah," Gil nods. "And I guess I should promise that it'll happen for you too."
Wells shrugs. He knows just as well as Gil does that there's no such guarantee.
"But," Gil shifts uncomfortably. He hasn't let himself think about this much since it happened. Why would he? "But if she...if she hadn't..."
Wells doesn't press him.
Gil leaves the statement as it is, but looks up and smiles at him as best he can. "I think I'd just keep thinking all that stuff. I would think about her every second, of every minute, until the day I die."
Both men nod, a level of understanding passing between them that far exceeds any well wishes or empty promises. Gil has offered what he can, and nothing more.
Wells extends his hand, which Gil shakes firmly. "Thank you."
Gil raises his brows, "I don't know if I can say I'm happy to help, but I'm glad I got to talk to you."
"I-"
"Mister Wells?"
Gil stands with him as Eros comes into view. He's not Gil's favourite of their co-workers, but the guy knows his way around a heart.
The Brit pulls off his mask to give the man a smile, "your wife has pulled through rather beautifully, sir. She'll be back in her room by the time you get up there, then I'll come see you about the plan moving forward."
Gil catches Wells before he can collapse to the floor in relief. Gil tries to keep the completely boneless man upright and nods to the surgeon, "thanks, man."
Eros offers Gil a stiff nod and leaves.
"Hey," Gil gets Wells back in his chair and pats his back. "Hey, it's okay. Everything worked out."
He nods, at least, his head in his hands again, although at least the tears are happy this time.
"Come on, you've gotta get hydrated," Gil pats his shoulder, offering his arm to help the man to go see his wife (and any water coolers they can find along the way).
"Th-Thank you," he pats Gil's arm as they shuffle along in elation.
Gil smiles at the man, happy he can go tell Thena all the good news. And finish his sandwich. "I'm happy I could help, sir."

Ikaris once thought that he would never love again. After he and Sersi had separated, he never expected to find love again. And why would he? Of the Eternals, Sersi was the only one he would ever love. And of the humans...Well, he never cared for them the way that Sersi did. The only reason he was on Earth was for the mission. He was to fight the Deviants and to wait for Arishem’s orders to return home. He never developed an attachment to them like Sersi did.
And why should he? The human life was fleeting. He knew he would outlive them. He knew that he would remain the same as they got older. It was not worth the ache or the pain to become attached. And when Ajak told him that their true mission was to ensure the Emergence of the New Celestial? He knew better than to even think of caring about humans beyond his mission.
That is, until he met you. After he and Sersi separated, Ikaris spent a lot of time alone. He almost preferred being alone. If he couldn’t be with the woman he loved, why would he bother with anyone else? So, he traveled, explored all of the corners of the Earth. Eventually, he found himself a sleepy little town. There was nothing particularly exciting about it. Nothing that drew him in. But as he was beginning to leave, he saw you.
He didn’t like small towns, if he was being honest. Though, if he was truly being honest, he didn’t like anywhere on Earth. The sooner he could leave, the better. But he especially didn’t like small towns. Nobody gossiped quite like people in small towns with nothing else to do and, even if he tried to blend in, he still stuck out like a sore thumb. It was best he leave before people got too suspicious of him. So, when he was sure that no one was paying him any attention, he got ready to fly off and find somewhere else to go.
“Careful!” you said, grabbing him by the arm, tugging him out of the street just before a car he didn’t notice before came speeding by.
Ikaris looked over at you and froze. Was this what it felt like to be human? To look at someone and think of everything you could have with them?
“You could say thank you,” you said. Your voice, it was almost teasing. A soft smile, a sort of glint in your eye that made him want to stay and he wasn’t quite sure why.
“Thank you,” he said. “I, erm, can I take you out for coffee? To thank you?”
And when he saw you smile, he understood why all of the poets and the playwrights wrote about love. “I would like that. I’m Y/N, by the way.”
“I’m Ikaris.”
“Like the guy who flew too close to the sun?”
He chuckled, remembering the story Sprite had told when they lived in Athens. “Yeah. Something like that.”
Falling in love with you was as easy, as natural, as flying. You were a writer, he learned. Preferred the quieter things in life. You lived on the edge of town, didn’t come out that often. You had a good heart, though. So when you saw what you thought might have been his death (even though he knew he would be fine even if he was hit by that car), you didn’t hesitate to save him. Maybe that was the beauty of humans. Or maybe that was the beauty of you.
He couldn’t be alone anymore. Not when he knew someone as wonderful, as amazing as you. He fell hard, and he fell fast, and he was okay with that.
And when you loved him too...It felt like everything would be okay, even if he knew that he would outlive you. He didn’t care, though. For the first time in a long time, it felt like he was living. And he didn’t ever want to let you go.
But as time wore on, he knew he would have to say goodbye. He could only hope that that day came before the Emergence. That he wouldn’t have to lose you like that, knowing that succeeding his mission brought about your end. He wasn’t sure he could live with that. When Thanos snapped away half the universe, he was sure he wouldn’t have to see that day. Perhaps he could see you live a long, healthy life after all.
After the Avengers defeated Thanos, though, and half of the universe returned, he knew that the Emergence would soon happen. He went to visit Ajak, and he learned that she, like Sersi, had developed an affinity for the humans. And he understood it, in a way. Maybe he would feel different if he felt as strongly about the human race as he did towards you. But...he still couldn't give up his mission. He had to see it through to the end.
When he returned home, he decided that he would make your final days as comfortable he could manage. Make sure that you were happy. That you knew that you were loved. He couldn’t save you, but he could make sure you were at peace.
He woke you up to breakfast in bed, making sure that he had made all of your favorites. Even went out and got a pretty bouquet of your favorite flowers. Pressed soft kisses around your face, punctuating each kiss with a soft “I love you”.
As you ate, he couldn’t stop himself from staring at you. Every time you asked if there was something wrong, if you had something on your face, he would just say that he was admiring a work of art. He couldn’t tell you that he was trying to burn the image of you into his mind.
After you got ready, he asked if you would like to make brownies together. It had been so long, and he missed the days where you would make a mess in the kitchen. Well, when he would make a mess and you would gaze over fondly, saying that he was an absolute menace with all the tenderness you could afford.
He almost thought you didn’t suspect anything. But, as he fed you one of the brownies, you pulled away from him, saying just above a whisper, “Are you going to tell me what’s bothering?”
“Nothing is bothering me.” He didn’t want to worry you.
“I’m not stupid,” you said, frowning. “I know something’s on your mind. Did something happen when you visited Ajak? You’ve been acting different since you came back.”
And he couldn’t lie to you. Not when he was going to soon lose you.
“I’m an Eternal. I came to Earth seven thousand years ago with the other Eternals to protect humans from the Deviants. We killed them all five centuries ago and have been waiting.” He didn’t like lying to you, because they hadn’t killed all of the Deviants.
“Waiting for what?” In a world where there were super soldiers and wizards and aliens defending from the sky, it wasn’t a surprise to you that something like this would be real. But...You didn’t like the worried look it put on Ikaris’s face.
“The Emergence. A seed was planted in Earth. Soon, the seed will hatch and a Celestial will be born.”
Your brows furrowed together. “But, if the seed must hatch...The planet will be destroyed.”
“And everyone on it,” he said. He looked away. It hurt to look at you, to know that he would soon lose you. But, he also wanted to relish the few moments he had left with you, so he looked back at you once more. “The Emergence is going to happen in five days.”
“And that’s why you’ve been so kind the last few days. Because I’m going to die in five days.”
He nodded. “I can’t stop the Emergence. No one can. But, I wanted to make sure that your last moments were happy ones.”
You reached up, taking his face in your hands. His eyes fluttered shut, leaning into your touch. He wanted to remember this. He wanted to remember how soft your skin was, how you smelled so sweet, how you always looked at him with pure adoration in your eyes. If he could remember anything about his time on Earth, he wanted to remember this. “Thank you.”
Ikaris leaned down, his lips brushing over yours. “I don’t want to lose you. Not like that.” He pulled away, feelings tears prick at his eyes. “I’ve known the Emergence would happen, but I...I hoped it wouldn’t be in your lifetime. I thought I would get to see you grow old. I hoped you would. I don’t want you to die like this.”
You didn’t say anything for a moment. Then two. Then— “You don’t have to.”
“You don’t understand. Nothing can stop the Emergence. Earth has to be destroyed in order for life throughout the universe to flourish.”
“I understand that. But...I don’t know. I can...die before then. It’s inevitable, isn’t it? I’m...going to die soon, anyways. But at least I could, I don’t know, take my death into my own hands. Go peacefully, or at least as peacefully as a person can when they know the world is going to end.”
“Y/N—” He didn’t want to do this. It already felt like he’d died when he killed Ajak. If he played a part in your death...He wouldn’t know what to do with himself. But, if it could give you peace in your final moments...It might be worth it.
“It’ll be okay, Ikaris. It will.”
You laid together in bed, you nestled in his arms. He put on your favorite movie, but it was just noise in the background. You were looking up at him, a sleepy look in your eyes. You were going soon, he could tell. He couldn’t bear to tear his eyes away.
“Tell me a story,” you whispered.
“Once upon a time,” he said, “there was a man, who wasn’t quite a man. Not in the human sense, anyway. He was a very lonely man. For a long time, he only worked to complete a mission he was given. He didn’t for anything else. But one day, he met this amazing woman. She was everything he wasn’t. Kind, considerate, so full of love. And he knew that his life would never be the same. He fell for her, and for some reason, she fell for him, too. And, when he was with her, for the first time ever, he didn’t feel so lonely anymore.”
You had stopped listening, because you couldn’t listen anymore. As he heard your breathing slow, your heart coming to a stop, he knew that you were gone. He leaned down, pressing a kiss to your forward, a tear slipping out as he felt your skin already begin to grow cold.
“I will always love you,” he whispered.
Slowly, he unwound himself from you. But he couldn’t leave you just laying there. Though it didn’t do anything for you, he pulled the covers over top of you, tucking you in, pressing another kiss to your forehead. He gently closed your eyes, and he whispered his goodbyes.
But as he began to walk out of the house, something caught his eye. You had been working on your newest novel, and you had kept the story very close to your chest. You wouldn’t tell him anything about it, saying you wanted it to be a surprise. But there on your desk laid a printed copy of the manuscript. Swallowing thickly, he picked it up and choked out a sob.
Working Title: The Blaze of the Sun
He set the papers down. He couldn’t read them, knowing that you had poured your love for him into the pages. He almost felt like he didn’t deserve it. Not when it was his mission that killed you.
He had to leave.
Ikaris left for London to reunite with Sprite and Sersi. The Deviants were back, after all, and Ikaris had to make sure that all of the Eternals were ready for the Emergence to happen.
But, the strangest thing happened. When the others learned of the Emergence...They wanted to stop it. They grew attached to the humans. They wanted to find another way.
He couldn’t understand it. This was what they were made for. This was what their mission was. They all used to be so loyal to the mission, loyal to Arishem. What had changed in the thousand of years they had been separated? In the end, Sprite was the only one who stood by his side.
But, really, in the end...They did it. They managed to stop the Emergence. And he stood on the beach, looking at what they had done, it felt like his entire world was collapsing in on itself.
They had stopped it.
The world didn’t end.
Humanity was saved.
Humanity was saved, but you were gone.
You were gone and it was all his fault.
He had killed you. He had told you there was no other way. You decided to die, because you believed in him and what he said. You didn’t know that he would be proven wrong. That the Emergence would be stopped. And he killed you.
You could’ve been safe.
You could still be alive.
But he killed you.
His mouth felt dry as he thought about it, remembering the way you had looked at him, the way you had whispered to him that you loved him. You thought so highly of him and he was the reason you were gone.
Ikaris now knew that he could never love again. And he would never want to love again. Because he had loved and he lost it and there was no one left to blame but himself.
He thought back to what you had written—
There once was a boy who flew too close to the sun. Or, at least, that’s what everyone said. It was a cautionary tale parents told their children. Don’t fly too high, or else you might lose your wings and fall. But if you asked the boy, he would tell you that there was no better feeling than being enveloped by the blaze of the sun.
Maybe there was some truth there. Maybe there was some comfort still left to be found.
And maybe he just owed it to you, to be able to say there was no better feeling than being enveloped by the blaze of the sun. And, if he was being honest, there was nothing left for him on Earth. Not without you. So, without another word, he looked at his fellow Eternals before flying straight into the sun.
And so there he would stay until the ache of losing you dulled, if it ever would.

Alright now that I've had like a day since I finished Eternals... let's go.
Sersi isn't getting enough praise. She's a complete badass and I loved her so much.
Sprite was an amazing character and I loved how they just grew bitter with humanity since their in a child body. That made so much sense and I loved Sprite so much. I will protect them with my life.
Kingo was hilarious and he deserves every but of praise he gets.
Thena is not getting talked about enough. My queen got hurt badly over this movie and I will protect her with my life... yeah she's more capable than me.
Druig I figured was gonna be one of my favs as soon as I heard his name. I know we arent supposed to like him, but I love how he's so empathetic and impulsive together that he ends up being a worse person because of it. I found him to be a breakout character for me.
Makkari, my beautiful Makkari, you are too good for the MCU. Omg, a speedster that's deaf is a perfect concept. She's so sweet and compassionate and relaxed, yet she will flip if prompted. I loved that we now have 2 ASL users in the MCU with Echo and Makkari. I have the beautiful headcanon that Makkari and the Eternals all made Sign Languages across the world.
Gilgamesh, you were too good for this movie. I screamed when Gil died, like how dare they. HE MADE PIE AND USED HIS LIFE TO HELP THENA AND THIS IS WHAT HE GETS?!?!?! In all seriousness though, I'm truly distraught that they just snuffed him out like that, but I have hope that he will return down the line with the World Forge.
Phastos is the first openly queer character in the movie side of the MCU and it took too long. I'm so happy he's in the movie, his character was awesome being the tech guy of the Eternals, and it sucks that he's the one who made the atom bomb. I think he had one of the most interesting stories in the movie. We get to see him have a family which was awesome. I'm shocked they got to do all of that in this movie, I honestly thought we'd get a wlw relationship before we got a mlm relationship in the movies and I gotta give em points for going with this. This was great and I'm very happy about this.
Ajak was interesting. It's depressing that she caused her own death but such is life. I love that it showed how close they were with her and it makes her death feel like it has meaning. I kinda hope we don't see her return but I'm sure we are going to.
Ikaris, I'm gonna say this and I'm gonna lose the little credibility I have... Ikaris shouldn't have died (should he have actually died). His story could have become more interesting. He went from falling for Sersi, to becoming a pawn for Ajak and Ahersham? to murdering his closest friend for Ahersham, and fighting the rest of his family to do what he thought was right. He was a perfect soldier, not a good man. Then he realizes that, and instead of letting him figure out where to go from that he flies into the sun and dies.... fuck them. He could have become more interesting but they suck. Whatever.
Karun was a perfect gem. He better return down the line, I doubt it but he should. Kinda wish he had more to do and could have helped but it's whatever, he was great.
Dane was one of the characters I was most excited for in this movie and lemme tell you!!!! How dare they. It's fine he'll be a bigger character down the line but I'm a bit upset. It is what it is.
Character Ranking (Top 5)
5. Sersi
4. Sprite
3. Makkari
2. Druig
1. Thena
Relationship Ranking
4. Sersi and Ikaris... I think it's supposed to not be good. I think that was the point. He was obsessed with her but also with his mission and she moved on.
3. Dane and Sersi
2. Phastos and Ben
1. Makkari and Druig

My Eternals review, obviously there are spoilers below:
I really liked the movie even though it didn’t really feel like a marvel/avengers movies but that’s what made it good.
What I liked:
- The casting. It was just perfect, no one felt like a side character. I think that Sersi and Ikaris were supposed to be the main characters but it didn’t feel that way. They all had their place in the story, even though we could have had more.
- The characters!!!! I loved all characters my favorite ones were Phastos and Kingo, and my least favorite were Ikaris and Sprite, but I liked them anyway ... They all had something to bring to the movie:
Phastos: My favorite one with Kingo, I feel like he and Kingo are the characters we got to really know (I don’t know a lot about Sersi except that Ikaris is her ex and that she loves humans). But Phastos, we saw how passionate he was about inventing, how he had lost faith in humans, how he found faith again thanks to his family and was willing to do anything to protect them, how he had a supportive and loving husband, and also how powerful he was. Honestly those last fighting scenes... wow, he’s kind of a badass. I loved him, loved his family, his husband should have had more screentime because they were just perfect together and Jack was just the cutest kid ever. I was afraid we wouldn’t get to see a lot of phastos in the movie and that he would be a “side character” but it was actually quite the opposite adn he played a big role in the resolution of the conflict at the end.
Tumblr media
Kingo!!! I loved him so much, I like that he was an arrogant prick but we could easily tell it was a front and he was actually adorable and also funny, and also loyal, and also honest. His relationship with Karun was everything, Karun is so hilarious. What I liked most about Kingo is that he is the perfect example of why the Eternals wasn’t a movie about “bad guys” versus “good guys”. It was a fight between two opposite mindsets. I saw some people saying that Kingo left because he knew he couldn’t defeat Ikaris. But that’s not what I saw. To me, he left because he loved his friends, INCLUDING Ikaris and couldn’t pick a side because he didn’t see himself hurting Ikaris. He had  always followed Ikaris, so he was confused because for once Ikaris’ path might not be the correct one.  And he knew there wasn’t a Black and White answer. Ikaris’ plan to let the Celestial destroy earth  was the paln from the begininng and even Ajak agreed with it. I do’nt know if I explain it well but, to me Kingo didn’t “give up”, he just didn’t want to “chose between his mother or his father”.
Tumblr media
Ajak, I loved her, but she woke up a little too late. I’m sad she died too soon. I will never forgive Ikaris for killing her. Salma Ayek did a terrific terrific job! Loved her, but still their cause, and rule was a little bit weak in my opinion. I don’t understand the principle of not intervening in ANY conflicts at all, not even a few and just being like ok...??? Wouldn’t you wonder about the purpose of everything you’re doing? Didn’t make any sense to me.
Tumblr media
Sersi: I loved Sersi, loved to see her scenes with the humans and how she had felt in love with them. I also liked her relationship with Ikaris, her love story with him was so beautiful, and there was a lot of chemistry between the two... But something was missing. If you’re going to give the love story central place in your storyline you need to work on it more. I really felt like some scenes were missing ( maybe scenes showing how they fell in love instead of just Ikaris looking at her do stuff). I got more attached to Phastos/Ben and Gilgamesh/Thena relationship. That being said, the two of them were great together... those last scenes were  full of emotions, and her powers are great. I couldn’t care less about her love story with Dane, they felt like siblings to me. Dane’ character was good and funny and I want to see more of him and Sersi, but seriously, they work better as friends. I didn’t feel the romance at any point during the movie.
Tumblr media
Ikaris, perfect example of soldier following orders blindy without thinking. Ikaris  never getting attached to the humans (didn’t even know what a celphone was, didn’t try to learn the language of the places they settled in...The only moments he made that effort was for Sersi. He really believed in their mission. Killing Ajak was the worst thing he could have done . Yes he’s evil for what he did but not a villain like we usually see. He was blindly following their mission and his leader because he believed in the cause they were pursuing, he sacrificied the love of his life for that cause and stayed away from her for centuries because of the cause, and all of the sudden, it was all for nothing? I think Ikaris lost his mind a little and couldn’t think clearly. I believe him when he said he loved Ajak, he clearly had a lot of admiration for her and even worshipped her, that’s why he put everyhting else on hold for her. I don’t feel like he did it for Arishem because he didn’t even meet them, but he believed in everything Ajak said. That being said, what he did was f*cked up there is no denying it. And as I said one of my least favorite characters in the group.
Tumblr media
A lot of admiration and respect in his eyes.
Makkari, I loved her, loved her SOOO much!!! But I also felt like I didn’t really get to know her too much.... Makkari, you stayed on that ship for centuries for what?? To read???? (Ok I admit I would probably have done the same ahahah but still..) Her relationship with Druig was cute... they spent centuries apart but when they see each other again they easily fall into their friendship.
Tumblr media
Sprite, really felt for her, and liked that they added this storyline, about a kid that is eternal and would never get to experience everything. the being in love with Ikaris was ok but useless in my opinion, to me it only had the purpose of showing me that Kingo was in love with Ikaris (platonically or romantically who cares) because that’s why he pickled up on it when no one else did, because he already knew the signs. That stabbing thing was bad bad. She was forgivent too easliy in my opinion hahaha.
The Deviants: Again: not the bad guys, they were brought on earth with a mission but were built with a defect, it’s not like they asked for any of this, so I was cool with them.
Gilgamesh...LOVE HIM!! Love his cooking, I wish I got to know more about him than he sacrificed himself to protect Thena. But still I enjoyed all his scenes, fighting, his scenes with Thena, the way he wasn’t afraid of her, and knew how to talk to her when the disease hit. His death was SO SO unnecessary??? I didn’t get the point....
Tumblr media
Thena, she is one of my favorites too, I liked the storyline with the condition she had, I forgot what the name was. I really liked all the scenes she was in, the struggle to remember herself and also keep up with everything. I loved her relationship with Gilgamesh too.
Tumblr media
Druig is a character I started to understand because he was the only one who really started thinking that maybe that non-intervening rule was bullsh*t, so if there is one Eternal that could have been nominated for the good guy title it’s him... BUT I say could have been because he went to the other extreme, which is just as bad let’s say?? Like he was asserving a whole group of people with the excuse of “protecting them” or keeping them from harming each other. I see Druig as the exact opposite of Ikaris. Ikaris was blindly following the orders, and Druig intervening to an extreme where he was controlling the humans every step of the way.
- The relationships between the characters, the fact that they were a dysfunctional family but a family nonetheless:  you can see they care for each other and why they care. Not all of them are friends, but for those who are, you can see that there is a genuine bond.
- I also enjoyed the lack of real villain, I probably shouldnt saying this if I want to be taken seriously hahaha, but this movie made me think about Megamind a lot: You were brought here to do something, but you never think about whether or not you should be doing it. Megamind, was a villain because he was brought up that way, the Deviants killed humans because of a glitch in their system, Ikaris was ready to let all humans die because he was told that it is the way it is and never questionned it for a second. The Eternals were there to fight deviants and were instructed to never intervene in humand conflict, but never really questionned it and thought about whether or not it was the best way to go (Except Druig but he didn’t do great in the end either).
What I didn’t like:
- The storyline: not because it wasn’t good or something like that. But because their whole not intervention stuff didn’t make sense to me (especially since Ajak changed her mind later, why now and not before???). It’s not a good enough of a reason to let people die right in front of you just because you were told to.
It doesn’t make sense to me that they wouldn’t interfere in any conflict and then they’re just ok with it. Otherwise it means that they’re not the “good guys”.  Druig was the most sensible of them in my opinion, but he really went at it the wrong way....
This whole non intervention thing is why I don’t think the movie was a story about “bad guys” vs “good guys”, but just a story. None of the Eternals were good guys and even the ones that wanted to do good woke up way too late.
- The pacing was off too, I like that there were flashbacks, but sometimes it wasn’t as smooth as it should have been.
- In my opînion, they shouldn’t bring real life events (like Hiroshima) in the superhero world, I understand what they were trying to do, but they could have shown a perfect example with Sokovia and the ravages of new technologies (Ultron something like that) or made up a new event, but not a real event where there were real people who lost their lifes and an event that is still relatively close in time. It was the most f*cked up part for me. I don’t understand the reason of doing that in a movie like this, it felt very disrespectful and unnecessary.

i was talking with a friend (whose opinions on movies I usually agree with and always strongly respect) about eternals and they found some stuff in the movie troubling. for instance, and as probably the top example, druig kidnapping a bunch of people and controlling them and their descendants for centuries. which, yeah. totally fair. poor little meow meow megalomaniac crybaby.
buuuuuut, and this isn’t to excuse him, he’s in a uniquely horrific situation. what do finger guns man, and superman, and alchemy woman, and self-healing Boss know about what it’s like to see this level of violence, be able to stop it with a thought, and not be allowed to do anything. he is designed to break.
and THEN, Thena suddenly can’t take it anymore, loses her mind, nearly kills his beloved and Ajak says “this could happen to any of us” it’s really not surprising that he’s like “Oh I can NOT do this anymore, if I keep going i’m going to get superPTSD and I could wreak much more devastation than Thena.”
yes, it’s Bad to kidnap a bunch of people to soothe yourself but it makes sense that he saw it as the lesser evil. the eternals are not human, and his particular power (and his general trauma and bitchiness) makes it very hard for him to live like one and see them as equals the way Sersi and Phastos do.
He’s not completely lost. he tells Sersi he made a choice not to take over every human. he knows that’s wrong, although his take on why is a bit, as usual, god complex shit. but again, of course. he’s designed in such a way that it’s impossible for him to hold consistent values and survive. he wants war and cruelty and greed to end, and he could do it, but he might erase humanity in the process, like Ajak wanted to erase Thena. the choice not to do that, however, means more pain and suffering and genocide that could all be avoided. he was made to control and given the ability to love and have compassion. no wonder he’s a mess. if he thought of humans as fully equal to him, he would shatter.
Kingo tells him “you’re not a god” but Kingo just has some fancy finger guns. congrats, so does iron man. is Druig not a god? what makes a god a god?
and then, and THEN, he finds out, after thousands of years, that he doesn’t have a real home. He isn’t just charged with a task that is killing him, but he was specifically and deliberately created to suffer in this way. and he’s been through it hundreds, maybe thousands of times. His creator doesn’t care and wants it this way. it’s no wonder he agrees to defy their creator. Arishem is a monster.
I don’t think the Eternals are best understood as heroes, because most of them aren’t living amongst their supposed beneficiaries. and even if druig is, he isn’t acting like just some guy. whether his people like him or not, or even trust him, they know he can and will control their minds if he deems it necessary. WHICH IS CRAZY i LOVE the messiness of it all. it’s nice to see that kind of grayness and weirdness from Marvel, the struggles of the gods--or demi-gods, or not gods but what’s the difference--to relate to humans, to use their powers appropriately, to try and have it all by being both a god and a community member (who occasionally mind controls everyone, don’t worry about it).
it’s a very interesting story. At this point, though, I’d be sorry to see them meet our MCU heroes, I think that would be hard to do right. keep them separate. harry styles can stay, but he’s on thin ice.

Am I the only one who thought it was interesting that Druig was very villain coded (mind-controller, dark haired person who is the most angry and grumpy of the group, first to rebel) yet he ends up being very compassionate, noble and the first person to want to disboey the Celestials to help humanity, as well as being an awesome boyfriend to Makari. I kind of want the Eternals to continue in the MCU just so this guy can kick Purple Man's ass.
I found that interesting too. I liked how the character stories in Eternals flipped the script on lots of the more traditional tropes usually found in action/superhero movies. Sersi and Dane's relationship is more traditionally flipped in regards to gender/sex... but here Sersi (the girl) was the more worldly and powerful whereas Dane (the boy) was confused and needed saving.
Likewise Thena and Gilgimesh where Gil was the maternal character whose death brought about the angst needed to bring out the more masculine-coded badass in Thena.
And while the more sneery and brooding Druig ended up being a real softy who loved humans, the conventionally handsome and charismatic Ikaris ended up being the big bad who sought to end humankind.
All refreshing twists to what is normally expected from these kinds of movies.
